blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most) moon was designed in a lab to appeal to me personally, so. it's about the trust issues!

scrunkly (my "baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped) the sky copper clutch!! traumatized children imprinting on a guy with baby fever is usually what i go to fanfic for so to have it right there in canon? incredible. i love all of frost's little tantrums and idk, just the way that she claims moon as her family in a way that has nothing to do with court politics? she's like, we're your clutch, obviously. and this is our court because it's your court, and all the other jabronis who live here are on thin ice. she's ready to throw down with moon's wife/the government at all hours of the day and she's like six years old. i love that moon has that energy in his life even though he personally is pretty confused and exhausted by it lol.

scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave) it's hard out here for an ember stan because he is in so few scenes relative to the space he occupies in my psyche! i need 5000% more interactions between him and moon. him and stone. him and shade. him and river. him and the teachers. him and the clutches. him and jade and balm and chime. oh my god him and malachite? him and celadon? him and delin??

horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason) stone. every time he crankily says "why did i ever reproduce" upon finding himself entangled in yet another ridiculous clusterfuck thanks to one of his hundreds of idiot great-great-great-great-great grandchildren, an angel gets its wings. he's depressed and antisocial but he can't totally check out because he has to mediate relationship issues between his dumbass relatives. love that for him.

eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell) malachite but specifically because malachite would not be scared of superhell. she'd skulk around being invisible, maybe fuck some shit up if she felt like it, and leave when she got bored. she probably makes it like. opal night's sister city or something. and nobody in the court is at all phased. yeah that's our reigning queen who recently got back from vacation in superhell. she does that. she says it's relaxing.

Plan us a Shrek movie night. Where are we watching it, what are we wearing, what are the snacks, is there other animals (real or soft toy ones) present, how many times you will pause the film to discuss important theme and motifs??

Okay so we're watching it in my living room, I'd borrow my neighbor's projector so we can project the film to the wall and don't have to watch it on a small screen. I'd dim the lights and make sure the couch is very cosy and comfy, Apollo is there with us and maybe some other stuffed animals, maybe I'd get you a stuffed donkey (from Shrek) plushie as a little gift! I think my elephant and koala would probably also love to watch with us, as well as any real or toy animals you'd want to bring with you!!

I would have a wide assortment of vegan sweet & salty snacks on the table. I do own monster-themed cake pop molds, so maybe I'd make some of those and cover them with green icing, get your fave vegan Lindt chocolate, maybe try to have a green theme going on with the snacks because I think that would be cute!

I don't think we should wear green though, I like to have a theme going on but we don't have to go overboard with it, I think we should just wear like whatever cosy loungewear we want to wear, this is not about looking a certain way, this is about creating the perfect atmosphere to appreciate the cinematic masterpiece that is Shrek!!! I will however make sure I wear one of my *good* at-home T-shirts with only a minimal amount of holes, just for you!! <3 This is after all my attempt to get you to change your mind in regards to our divorce.. Might wear my blanket-hoodie on top of it, just to complete the cosy-chic look. And you can wear whatever you want to wear!! I was thinking maybe your seal hoodie or sth like that, but whatever you want!! I would be very tempted to get us matching I <3 Shrek T-shirts but I think I would keep those hidden until after the movie, when you've become a fan, and then I'd surprise you with it and you'd be so, so happy to wear it then! But I wouldn't want to overwhelm you with it before the film even starts..

If it's your first time watching Shrek I wouldn't pause the film at all, so you can enjoy it in all its glory. I'd be okay if you wanted to pause it though to discuss important themes etc., and I would pause the film for snack/tea breaks or bathroom breaks to make sure you don't miss any second of it!! But I think for your first time watching it, I'd let the film speak for itself, and then the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. times are for discussing themes and motifs and overanalyzing and repeating certain scenes etc.! I can totally see you/us liveblogging the entire experience on tumblr though, and I think that's a special kind of love language!! <3

And if you find the film too boring we can always make out instead, I'm sure Reggie wouldn't mind.

Iris: My first story, and the bane of my existence. Hermione flees after the war, five years later she's dragged back in by a dangerous situations. Follows my series Seasons. Hidden child trope, angst fest, long as hell and on hiatus. H/Hr

It Had To Be You: Post war, completed, steamy romcom with some loose inspiration from the film When Harry Met Sally. Co-written with @bettertoflee

Found: A spin off of Iris, and another alternate ending to Seasons. Never thought I would write an OC protagonist, but here we are!

My next highest kudos is another Harmony, but that's boring so going with my highest rated Jily fic which is Plans. It's also more Sirius & Lily focused, takes place right after Harry's born.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I try my best! Sometimes I can forget if I'm distracted/dealing with real life stuff. But I am SO grateful for people who take the time to let me know they've read my work.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angtiest ending?

For now probably Spring or Winter in my Seasons Series.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Well seeing as how I struggle to finish anything...I guess the ones that are complete which is It Had To Be You and Home.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Yes, so far only in Harmony. It's a huge reason I don't participate in the fandom much and why I moderate comments. Most of it has been concentrated on my stories Iris and Found, but I've also received rude comments on other works including It Had To Be You (which got some very incel type comments, and is the main reason I only allow registered users and block instantly).

9. Do you write smut. If so what kind?

Yes, mostly reluctantly as I still get uncomfortable writing it, but some stories feel incomplete without some. Love reading it though! Not sure what kind means? Like M or E? I would say my smut is relatively tame. I've only written one E rated fic, which was co-written haha.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? Nope, can't imagine I ever would.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I'm aware of.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? No idea! People have asked me, but haven't seen them.

13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before? Yes! Working on my second collaboration with @bettertoflee. And my story Iris gets so much support from my beta Green_Eyes that it feels like she may as well be a co-writer!

14. What's your all-time favourite ship? I've shipped both my fave HP ships since around 2001 when I was a child and they haven't changed even with the dreaded epilogue for Harry and Hermione (I take Unlike a Sister as canon and breathe easier for it), or you know canon for James and Lily (which is why AU is so fun!)

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Ideally I'd like to finish all of them. If I didn't have such a strong editor/beta reader for Iris it would likely stay unfinished. I REALLY struggle with endings at the best of times and that story has a variety of factors that make it difficult for me.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I'm very hard on myself, so its hard to think of positives. I do think I'm creative, and as someone with ADHD I often think outside the box. I think I have a good ear for dialogue. I've also received compliments on my descriptions/scene writing, as well as for conveying emotions. The thing I do love best about writing is seeing the growth year by year, story by story.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Plotting, getting stuck after the midway point. ADHD brain always wanting to jump to something new. Spelling/Grammar from years of French Immersion. Wordy, though REALLY have worked on this and I do so much slashing and cutting in my editing.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

No strong opinion unless it's constant.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Probably Harry Potter as a child. Although me and a friend wrote a That 70s Show script and posted it on fanfic.net back in middle school haha.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

This is a hard one. I am really proud of Maybe Tomorrow, I put a lot of my heart into it and it's actually complete except for some edits and additional scenes I'm contemplating.

I also really enjoyed writing Plans. And I'm proud of this short micro where I managed to stay under 1000 words!

Namor Comics

9. worst part of canon

That Namor's side/pov is never taken into consideration and is blamed or made to be the scape goat for the Avengers or [insert team/character]. Like constantly. Doesn't matter the circumstances, doesn’t matter how many times Namor helps, all previous character interactions/dynamics are totally forgotten because Namor is a Total Bitch and he isn't a Real Hero (unless he puts aside his own concerns and only helps the humans or mutants) and he did morally questionable things and we are still blaming him for the Phoenix fiasco but others get to move past it. So Namor looking out for his people is so selfish, and he deserves all the punishment he gets but Marvel brushes over the way they use Namor, the Atlanteans, and Atlantis as constant cannon fodder. Imo Namor is justified in telling a lot of characters to go fuck themselves when they ask him for help.

10. worst part of fanon

The way fans seem to think Namor is some hyper aggressive sex fiend rapist and his entire life & personality revolves around either Sue (comics) or Shuri (mcu).

You know how in canon works many female characters are used for the main male character? Like they have nothing beyond being the romance and every thought/action ever written for them all has to do with the end result of tying them to the main male character? It's like that in reverse for Namor but its all fanon, the fans believe every scene, every comic panel, every waking moment of his life is devoted to getting with Sue or Shuri and completely ignore his history, his drives, his agency, his own supporting characters and love interests. Every single ship joke ever made is unoriginal and boring. There's never anything interesting for Namor in these ships, because it's not about him, it's about the woman being seduced by the exotic underwater king. If I see another Hades & Persephone comparison I'm gonna snap. 😤

I will die on the hill that with Namor/Doom I could never believe Namor tops because it's Doom. I'm never going to accept that Namor isn't the bottom in that relationship because imo Victor Von Doom never bottoms, ever. For everyone else Namor is a Switch.

do you have any fav horror movies to recommend?

I've probably recommended all of these before but here we go again with the bad takes! Wahoo! OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD

The Exorcist - my most favorite horror movie ever. I don't think a lot of people find the actual spooky ghosty stuff scary (unsettling for sure) but the characters are next level and the production and acting are unmatched. Ellen Burstyn's performance as a mother losing her mind trying, and failing, to save her daughter is haunting. It also lead to me doing my best Greek grandmother impression whenever I say Dimi, so there is that.

Jacob's Ladder - an inspiration for the first Silent Hill, this movie portrays unreality as well as Perfect Blue. It's super disorienting and impactful, I watched it coming out of a project focusing on the Vietnam War and... yeah, it's pretty miserable. Although there is a lot of horrific imagery, t's a genuinely heart-breaking film in some places. The core of horror is trauma, right?

Hereditary - the ending is pretty scary, but the thing that stands out in this movie is how miserable it is. Like with the previous two I wouldn't recommend it on the fear factor, it's more of a character deconstruction through the lens of a horrifying situation. Alex Wolff's character is masterfully written and executed. Obviously I've never dealt with such severe trauma, but his response and mental decline is very relatable.

Midsommar - It's the cult movie. People say it's boring, I disagree, but it's not really scary either. More... uncomfortable. I love that the protagonist is already in such a vulnerable and destructive state. Like she's just not doing well. It's been a huge inspiration in my own writing, and Florence Pugh is lovely. Like with Anya Taylor-Joy, it was interesting to see her get so popular after being a contentiously reviewed horror movie.

Blair Witch Project - who hasn't seen this? It remains at the very top of the found footage genre for a reason, the entire thing is amazing. People say it's lost its luster with the oversaturation, but I disagree, the acting and style of the OG sets it apart.

The Witch - the first thing I ever saw Anya Taylor-Joy in before she was everywhere. Solid movie, it uses all period accurate dialogue. It's not my favorite from a horror standpoint, but the scenario alone is sickening enough to be a selling point. The dad character's actor has a nice voice, don't @ me.

Perfect Blue - there is nothing I could say about Perfect Blue that hasn't been said before, but it is a masterpiece. Watch it. If you like animation, if you like psychological studies, if you like feeling real icky, watch it. Just do it.

Se7en - more of a thriller I suppose, but it definitely works as a horror. It's up there with my faves and is another movie that's been an inspiration in my writing.

It Follows - I mention this because I was listening to the soundtrack, but its a beautifully shot film with a very strong aesthetic vision. It's the "demon STD" movie, which is dumb and imo pushes some really harmful narratives about STD's and I'd say that the far more impactful reading is sexual trauma.

Suspiria (2018) - I'm not one for body horror but there's a scene in this that just... woah. I've never seen the original but I know the new one is very different, and it's amazing. I might be alone in this but it's a shame Dakota Johnson is in such trash movies because I think she's so cute.

The Shining - another classic that must go on this list because it is, unironically, just that good. Shelley Duvall deserved better, that's a fact. That her performance was so fantastic is astounding to me. It's funny that people say that her reaction is unrealistic when that was her genuine reaction to being put in a traumatic situation. Amazing film, she is a star.

I'm definitely missing some movies but such is the way my brain doesn't work. Thank you for your time <3

I recently rewatched Death Note, its been one of my fave anime since I first watched it and it still is :) Some thoughts (hidden for spoilers):

-I know the common opinion is that the rest of the show after L dies isn't as good. I recently learned that the anime actually rushed it/skipped stuff from the manga, which is unfortunate :/. I noticed that there were much less inner monologues during the latter half; disappointing to me bcuz 1. it made it harder to follow the logic, and 2. it would've helped develop the Light vs Near dynamic and make us viewers feel more invested. It would have been nice if the anime had more episodes so it wouldn't feel so rushed. We also don't really get to know Mello and Near very well, which sucks cuz now everyone thinks they're not as good as L (which might still be true, but at least give them a fighting chance lmao). The worst victim has gotta be Mello's friend Matt who shows up in one scene just to get shot at by a group of people and die. Its funny to think about cuz why did they do him like that lol.

-L is still my fave <3. The OG autistic anime boy. When I first watched I was so surprised when he died that I felt like I was in shock for the rest of the day. I'm not usually that affected by character deaths but that one really got me. This time around I braced myself for it, but its not that bad when you know its coming. Still, Fs in the chat for him o7.

-On the other hand, I remember I hated Light lmao. I disagree with him but then also the whole "I'm a god" ego thing was off-putting to me. Now that I'm older I think maybe I can appreciate his character a little more. He's still dumb tho, killing criminals isn't gonna magically make the world better. I guess that's part of his character, the way he is so naive. There's also the question of whether the death note corrupted him or if he was always like that. Maybe a bit of both? That might be what's interesting about him. Tbh I feel like the death note would corrupt anyone :O

-I don't think I ever gave much thought to the relationship between Light and L, but now that I'm thinking about it, its kinda fascinating. Like, they don't really like each other, but they're also obsessed with each other. The most joy in life they have is this intellectual back-and-forth game they are playing. When Light says "its boring without Ryuzaki" and then multiple times he's like "Near u suck ur not as good as L" like why are u thinking about another man that much lmao. Anime rivalry/toxic yaoi go brrrr.

-Misa deserved better. She was basically written out near the end when she had to give up her death note again. 2 shinigami died for her and yet she barely gets to do anything damn lmao.

-I saw a youtube comment about Matsuda that was really cool. It said he was like a son to Soichiro, more than his actual son, which made it meaningful when Matsuda was the one to shoot Light at the end. Matsuda was also the only one who would sometimes say that Kira maybe had a point, so there's another meaning to him shooting LIght. Idk I just think that's a neat detail.

-Never 4get the memes. The potato chip scene. All according to keikaku. "I've even brought America to its knees". "DELETE DELETE DELETE". The other cop pocketing the strawberry that L gives him instead of just eating it. This show is so silly :)

And like, if you think there’s other writers who post the same type of fics, then why don’t you just focus on them? People need to realize that writing fics and drawing art is a skill, and that the creator puts in a lot of time and effort into perfecting it for the audience. Yes, I was also intrigued when I saw how op was working on a ShouheixYata fic! Like I know some bits and pieces of how they’d interact as friends, but as romantic partners? I’ve seen some EricxYata and and ChitosexYata, but never a ShouheixYata. I’m sooo curious cause Yata is terribly shy when it comes to romance, while Shouhei is charismatic and nicer than the other abc boys. Like is Shouhei going to be all flirty and try to charm him?? Does Yata develop a crush on Shouhei which he tries to hide but miserably fails at it??

And I do!! So to start off, I’ll be honest and say that I’m not really fond of romantic!banshou. Its weird cause i have other ships with similar dynamics, and i also adore both characters individually, but im not the biggest fan of them as a ship. I think its probably bc i dont like how its portrayed by the very few fans they have, and how a lot of things about shouhei, end up revolving around bandou’s inferiority complex towards him (which really sucks as a shouhei’s girl who wants to learn more about him).

But despite being in my y/n feels for shouhei, i do have a few ships for him! I don’t think it’s as obvious as it was when i first created this blog, but shouhei/eric is the closest to an otp i have for this fandom. Its probably bc theyre my top two faves, but i do think they have strong potential to be a sweet and interesting ship, and the few interactions they have are so cute 🥺 the fact that shouhei is the only person Eric refers to by their first name other than Anna 🥹🥹 (although i do think its probably cause everyone refers to shouhei by his first name lol. If im not wrong, i think eric refers to fuji by his last name despite being very close). I also do think they’d look really good together! Despite Eric being unkempt and not into fashion, he is objectively very good looking and i think his sharp and cool features are a good contrast against shouhei’s softer and warm features. I genuinely do think shouhei is the second person eric is comfortable with, after fujishima. I also ship shouhei with chitose and akiyama! I think i started shipping shouhei with chitose sometime last year and honestly? I think they’d be a fun and hot pair. I can’t really see them being them in a serious and committed relationship, but i do think they would probably hook up here and there (or even just be really good friends, since theyre pretty similar to each other except for some differences). Akiyama/Shouhei is always going to be that one opposites attract/enemies to lovers ship for me lol. I wish their fight scenes from s1 were longer, im so curious on what the dialogue would have been like.

Yata was my first ever fave character/crush when i first got into K back in 2012, but unfortunately that died out. But i do think ericxyata is such a cute and funny pair! I remember reading this really old fic on them in which yata learns english just so he can finally respond to eric’s taunts, only to have the story end with eric kissing him on the cheek 💞 i don’t remember being sold that quick on a ship like i did with that fic lmaoo. They’re like my second favorite pair, but theres sooooo little content on them :/ thats what i hate about k. Most content are on the popular/designated ships, you barely see anything on different pairings/dynamics. Yata and Kamamoto are seen as platonic for the most part, but i can see some potential for it to turn romantic! Kamamoto is a ride and die for yata. Like if theres ever a rare chance that yata decides to leave homra (unlikely, i know), i do feel like kamamoto would probably join him idk. the loyalty there is really strong. I think yata and chitose would be interesting since chitose is a playboy while yata is a virgin, but its probably gonna end with a nasty heartbreak on both sides 😬

First of all, anon, chill and even though, i think i and many people already explained enough (for example; this post) why they think this way but since i am bored, here we go again.

I think at this point in story its not even about my or your thoughts anymore. Its what story and plot showed. I dont know what author needs to show, especially after writing 'my villain academia' and 'war' arc.

Why i think they are revolutionary?

I think this one scene itself shows many things. That Shigaraki is causing a dramatic change that involves politic revolution. In BNHA, a lot of sentences main characters used for theme of story and its purposely written for audience to question this. Story showed many times that hero society has its flaws and heroes are not doing anything about it. And Shigaraki with his tiny group are challenging that mindset. AGAIN, their ways are wrong, obviously cause they are killing people but they are the one who made that dramatic start and Izuku and hero friends will also make it continue, most likely.

Anon, this is not something fans made up. And most 'villain stans' dont even care their fave is revolutionary or activist or not, there are many people who just enjoy characters even they are 'evil'. Character doesnt have to fight or involve with world issues to be loved.

Also, are you new in this blog, anon? Because i already said i am not 'hero' or 'villain' stan because of the definition of 'villain' and 'hero'.

Villain in stories means that someone who opposes heroes or criminal or someone who is actually bad.

But isnt word itself involving a lot of people/characters by its definiton? If 'villain' means criminal, does every person who cause crime is 'bad', even though thats not possible for anyone so are you gonna decide that they are evil or not, depend on the damage of they caused, without ever looking at their past? Because believe or not, accept or not, past matters and affects people. I understand, especially for people who live righteous life, it might realy hard to empathize with others who made mistakes but yknow what? Never say something like 'i would never do this' because you never know what life brings to you.

Also, villains in stories can get redemption which means they wil make effort to change, if villains are just 'bad people in core', then why would they ever change though? Why people in real life even change at first place? If they can change, why they are 'villains at first place? Why someone villains change while other never even consider changing? And why 'change' is meaningfull.

And also the 'hero' word. First of all, heroes in stories might just be called like that cause they are simply main character or they might be actually hero.

But what makes someone hero though? Simply being good person that never make any mistakes? Is it even possible though? Or saving people? Or simply being good person? But what if that person saves people for selfish reasons, like fame or money etc? So to be able to be hero, do you have to be %100 selfless that every time you save someone, you never expect anything in return? Is it even possible thet never thinking yourself? Lets say, its possible, isnt it so bad for person to think about theirselves? Someone who self destrcuts is really doing this for kindness or they cope their trauma? Cant people think about others while also thinking about theirselves?

Do you think that Izuku is so kinder than characters like Ochaco because he was ready to kill himself for others? The factt that he is gonna take things that far, is it really because he is so kind or simply because has NO self worth?

All those hero-villain thing is worth to consider.

Its also ironic that people, especially bnha fans still question this. Like, 'What is the hero?' is one of the main theme in BNHA. It also showed the tiny line between heroes and villains can break for anyone.

One of the reasons i love BNHA is how realisticly written abuse victims are, its feel more realistic and that makes them more human. And the more human character is the more relatable they become for audience.

Not to mention that all those 'heroes' and 'villains' characters are just written by someone (a human being) means it can be bad writing or simply uninteresting for readers which is why writing criticism exists.

There are so many different type of 'hero' and 'vilain' character that you cant even put them all under same title because they are so different. Even though, i understand what you mean, anon about how people fall for every sob story' because someone people just dont or dont like to think that deep. Sometimes, i also feel some backstories are oof because it seems they ae only there to gain sempathy from audience and thats it. I cant talk for everyone's instead but for me, i just look at characters and try to analyze them to understand better or read other people's analysis to see what i might be missing about that character.

I think someone can be both seen as victim who deserves to be healing and criminal who needs to be punished for doing bad things at the same time. And someone making effort for changing always matters and i think thats trying to be best version of yourself is what makes someone 'good person'.

Anyway, i really hope that i am able to explain my thoughts well to readers with this post.

I'm glad you're enjoying what I'm saying about the shows I love but yes that has definitely happened haha (and I'm taking this ask as an opportunity to do some complaining) Tbh there are many dramas I've watched and not talked about a lot on here because I'm often in-between watching airing dramas and watching ones that are already over and for those I don't really reblog/talk that much so if don't like them I'm more likely to just move on and not think about them again lol. And if I don't like a drama or get too bored even when I skip a lot I usually just drop it (ex: I dropped "our beloved summer" quite early on it just wasn't doing anything for me at all; I really liked the beginning of "do you liked brahms" but it felt too slow for me towards the end so I gave up (it clearly was meant to be slow and that's not a bad thing I just couldn't do it); I loved the beginning of "something in the rain", I was captivated but then it was so dark with how controlling the mother was despite the fact that the main character was grown up and all the obstacles to their relationship I just stopped and later on watched the last episode to see if they got back together lol).

But there have been a few dramas where I've really liked one or a few things about it and then disliked the rest so I've been torn because I kept watching for just one thing and skippking a lot of the rest. For example in "strong woman do bong soon" - which is the first drama I've watched - the main romance/two main characters were cute but the rest was way too much and over the top and unnecessary (what even was that mafia plot) and often offensive (her mother was hitting her father but it was turned as a joke, one of her colleague was such an awful gay caricature) so I would not recommend it; "imitation" was just weird because the main conflict of the show that really set off the characters on their present path - a trainee being brought to suicide and as a result her secret boyfriend leaving his very famous group and her trainee group's debut being delayed and how that impacted many other people and the pressures put on idols - wasn't actually the main plot which was about one of the guy from the famous group a few years later and a trainee from another company dealing with her debut and their romance so I was left with many questions and a lot of frustration; in "so I married an antifan" the main relationship was quite fun and kept surprising me positively despite the situation that the main character was in which was quite hopeless but they had one of the most annoying vilain ever I just ended up skipping his scenes he made me sooo angry and he kept getting worse - he beat up the main guy and manipulated his girlfriend as her boss and then slapped her ! - and they resolved it by him getting hit by a car as he tried to protect his girlfriend and then ending up in a wheelchair with his girlfriend taking care of him which made me so angry omg

Also amongst the shows I've giffed I really liked "dali and the cocky prince" for the two leads and their relationship and like two supporting characters and the comedy but omg did this show hate the main character she was given so much tragedy and pain and no break - and as a result not as much personality as the male lead tbh - and the vilain made me want to just turn my computer off everytime he came on screen and the male lead's family was just annoying annoying annoying and no change to be redeemed and way too much screentime ugh, "forecasting love and weather" started off sooo great omg the romance was so hot and it kept highlighting how marriage impacted women's lives and careers and independence etc but it just never lived up to its beginning and gave way too much importance to the annoying secondary characters who had cheated on the main characters and who clearly were not mature or in love enough to get married (and even less to have a baby omg and they didn't even let her go through with an abortion despite her wanting one and instead we were supposed to be happy about her working until the day she gives birth so she doesn't lose her job??) while the main couple could barely spend time together or actually communicate and they kept so much distance and kept dragging things and ugh that was a real let down I would not recommend it

Least fave and favorite parts of 3.01? would love to hear all your thoughts

Overall I really liked 3.01. I think it was a pretty strong season opener especially coming off the low of 2.13.

I loved how Beth’s grief and guilt were handled in 3.01. It’s obvious that Beth has conflicting feelings about shooting Rio—she grieves him, she’s guilty over leaving his son fatherless, but at the same she’s happy to be free from him. That Beth and Rio love each other as much as they hate each other creates such a richly complicated relationship and 3.01 really highlights that depth on Beth’s end.

2.13 sets up her internal struggle a bit, but I don’t think they got the tone right, especially coming off Rio’s jarringly out of character behavior. We get to see Beth’s grief stricken walk back to her suburban life (something she’s always claimed to want) and see her collapse in tears in front of her entire family. We see her starting longingly at the empty swing next to Jane as she sits alone in the park where she used to meet with Rio. We feel his absence. And then it abruptly cuts to Beth proudly and excitedly announcing that she’s free from Rio. And while I do think she’s genuinely both sad and happy that he’s gone, I don’t think 2.13 captured that conflict well. It’s just too jarring.

But 3.01 is different. Beth’s conflicting emotions have an entire episode to expand.

I absolutely love her disassociating monologue in the opening scene. It’s one of the few times Beth tells us directly how she’s feeling and it’s extremely telling that she’s talking to a stranger and not Annie and Ruby.

I also LOVE her obsession with Rhea and Marcus. Like what an absolutely INSANE thing to do. Not only is she deeply guilty, she also can’t let Rio go. As much as she claims to want to be free from him, she just can’t let her only connection to him fade away. She’s so compulsive about seeing Rhea and Marcus that her kids are annoyed with it. And her conflict about taking Rhea’s money is just… *chefs kiss*

Then we also get to see how she’s hiding her real feelings from everyone she cares about. It’s obvious she’s not confiding in Annie or Ruby given that they’re shocked by Rhea and Marcus being at Beth’a house. Beth also jokes about Rio’s “death” within Dean which is interesting because he’s the only one who actually got to see her devastation after the shooting.

I just love how all of these moment come together in a storm of conflict emotions for Beth. 3.01 is just a really strong Beth episode imo.

But that brings me to what I think is one of the weakest moments in the entire series: Annie and Ruby’s indifference to Beth’s grief.

At its core, Good Girls is about the deep love between these three women. Their relationship is the center of the entire show. And 3.01 is the episode where the writing just breaks down with regard to their relationship. Annie and Ruby have absolutely zero empathy for Beth or seemingly any interest in her wellbeing. And I just don’t buy that. Beth maybe be private but I can’t believe her sister and best friend wouldn’t ever try to talk to her about how she feels after “killing” her lover. Especially when Beth has clearly lost the plot by befriending Rhea.

It’s just hard to watch it knowing that they will never overcome it.

Things I’m conflicted about:

Turner’s death - I loved Turner. He was a great antagonist and he was so charmingly morally grey. So naturally I was sad to see him go, especially knowing boring ass Phoebe and Dave are about to replace him. But I did like it as a narrative choice. Taking out Turner establishes how powerful, cunning and dangerous Rio really is. There’s also something satisfyingly ironic about Beth saving Turner’s life only for Rio to turn around and immediately kill him.

The introduction of the strip club - I actually plan on expanding on this in a separate post but I don’t necessarily like the way they handled this narrative but in the overall context of the show it is compelling. Generally mixed thoughts on this.

- I love this movie so much…. So much. And it wasn’t always like that, it just slowly and quietly made its way into my top 5. Top 5, FOR SURE. This movie was a big part of my childhood: 1) aurora was my fave disney princess as a kid (blonde pink dress was all I cared); 2) I could not watch this movie alone ever. The scene where MALEFICENT’S EYES APPEAR IN THE FIRE PLACE WAS AND IS TO THIS DAY THE SCARIEST THING EVER. I literally remember watching this movie with my grandma beside me, she had to go somewhere but when that scene was approaching I kept shouting for her, she didn’t came so I just shut my eyes and covered them with my hands. It’s so spine chilling I literally had nightmares with maleficent as a kid 😭😭😭. That scene is literally all I remember from when I was a kid. I also believe I watched the movie in BrazilianPortuguese but nowadays I watch in European Portuguese.

- So even tho this movie has always been there, I only fairly recently (few years) started considering it a top 5. I just love EVERYTHING about it. Animation, story, art style, music, characters, humor, terror, character designs, it’s own production stories. It’s a timeless masterpiece and, you know how tink loses her magic when some says they don’t believe in fairies? I lose something inside too when someone calls this movie boring or bad or wtf they say. ITS NOT BAD YOU ARE JUST INFERIOR.

So since then no one has done it……… like sleeping beauty………. But I’m glad disney kept a little bit of this aesthetic in the black cauldron but specially sword in the stone.

- I remember going to Disneyland Paris, the castle there is sleeping beauty’s castle. Inside is just gorgeous with glass windows telling the story but the thing I remember most is that the soundtrack was playing and I kid you not I was watching the whole movie in my head just from listening. I never knew it was so iconic until that day. I don’t really know what parts are original and what parts are from the Russian? ballet? but I’ve been wanting to hear it so I will soon.

(Since I’ve watched the movie like 2 weeks ago I’m gonna comment this while going to the sleeping beauty screencaps on the animation screencaps site to save time, not that I wouldn’t mind watching it again tho. - This opening song scene is so weird to me. I love it DONT get me wrong. But it just feels like a totally different art and animation style from the rest of the movie. They had gone way beyond with budget so I don’t blame them specially cause the scene is soooooo filled with so many people and they are all moving, sometimes there’s even some characters that have distinct movements to them. - Some disney castles feel so…. Kingdomless and staffless … like there’s only a castle with king, queen, princess and prince or something and nothing else. Only Snow White comes to mind rn, but I think you know what I mean. So I love seeing so many people in this one

- I love this aurora blessings scene in both this movie and in maleficent (it’s my fave scene in maleficent) but in the remake the room looks so small while here maleficent appears in the middle of the ball floor with the nearest person meters away from her. - NOT TO MENTION how she got slapped in the face with a future as a queen and a man she doesn’t even know and she’s promised in marriage to. Instead of running away like any 16 yo would, she just cried UNDERSTANDABLY but still went with the fairies to fulfill her royal duties as princess and next in line to the throne. - This movie has some little details that I just feel like they bring so much personality to the movie. I actually find that pixar is the master of this but sometimes disney does it really well. I really don’t know how to explain it other that it just give the movie personality, little details that feel really in character or in universe, sometimes serve the story, sometimes don’t but even if they do serve purpose they could also be erased and the movie would still be the same except as good. In this movie these details are the fight between the pink or blue, the animals stealing phillip’s clothes to make up a human partner for aurora’s dance, the whole making off of the cake and dress…. The movie doesn’t need these but these make the movie better you know

- So sad how everyone is celebrating with fireworks and everything but little do they know that she just died…. Why couldn’t the fairies have taken her after midnight dammit

- Her sleeping chambers are so pretty. The whole thing, the pose, the rose, the setting, the windows, the covers, the chess floor

- Aurora’s hair color really frustrates me cause the artists can’t even agree what color it is. I know the room is dark but that yellow is too dark

- Speaking of frustrating. You know when in 2d animation things have more detail closer up and less farther away? Well, aurora’s crown is the complete opposite. Sometimes has red jewels, sometimes it’s just gold, doesn’t matter how far or how close 😭😭😭😭😭

- I have real trouble falling asleep. Again, that wand would come super in handy

- Love the color shift, but specially at the end during the kiss

- You know how i said I’d only change 1 thing in the movie and it was to add a montage of aurora growing up? Well that’s a lie cause I CANT UNDERSTAND WHY PHILLIP DOESNT SPEAK THROUGH OUT THE ENTIRE ENDING OF THE MOVIE. NOT EVEN GRUNTS OR BREATHING NO NOTHING. The fairies, the 4, talk a lot, specially flora and maleficent but my boy Phillip is really out here doing the physicality of the fight and we don’t hear and "ouch" or "ui" from him…. How come??? Did they forget to record the actor’s lines and didn’t wanna bring him back just for sound effects? No more money? Did he die? I don’t get it

- How did maleficent knew about the true love’s kiss spell breaker?? Guess she watched Snow White, saw the queen go " BAAAH" at that written rule in the book and decided to not leave loose ends. She’s so thorough

- Love how the fairies just understand that they messed up and are determined to complete the mission

- This castle can rival the horn king’s one

- Do you think the Winx creators got the idea of shrinking fairy powers from this movie?

- Damn Phillip is deeeeeep under in the dungeon

- NOT HER MOCKING HIM TELLING HIM HE CAN GO SAVE THE PRINCESS IN A 100 YEARS I LOVE NER

- This movie has 3 art styles. The normal one, all geometrical and stuff. The one from the fairies’ blessings and this 50s illustrations type from what maleficent is showing Phillip.

- That crow is too damn clever

- Maleficent’s room/ tower thing is so tiny… does she sleep standing up?

- I know we all love Phillip for slaying the dragon but the fairies helped so much in this fight. They deserve praise too

- Merryweather turning the crow into stone so close to maleficent makes me so anxious ngl 😭😭

- This is one of the best climaxes, not in disney, but in movie history period. Find me something more fantastical, magical, romantic, hardcore, mystical, idk whatelse….you can’t. Sleeping beauty is peak movie magic. It’s so hard for me to find fantasy movies I like cause none of them do this. I don’t want ugly hobbits and ugly wizards fighting ugly orcs. I want princes fighting dragons, kissing princesses, dances on the clouds, evil fairies, good fairies, cottage core, etc. The human race really took a 10000 steps back when they rejected the prince saves princess with true love’s kiss trope and decided ugly men fighting ugly orcs was peak fantasy. Yes I hate the lord of the rings and the hobbit. No I don’t acknowledge them as peak fantasy in movies.

- The moment I’d see those spikes would be the moment I decided no girl or kingdom is worth it and just hand myself over to my death 😭😭😭😭😭

- The shot of maleficent laughing with those green clouds circling her is so sinister. Damn this woman

- Love how she turns herself into a spiraling galaxy. The dragon is cool too

- I’m kidding, the dragon is AWESOME. It’s so short lived but it’s ugh so great. That glitchy? watery? effect when the dragon appears 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 The transformation, the design, the power of her flames damn that looks potent.

- MERRYWEATHER HAD TO BE HOLD BACK BY FLORA. SHE WAS READY FOR A FIGHT

- dragon slayer is such a sexy title 🤤 Phillip owns it. (For a whole sec I forgot demon slayer was with demons and not dragons 😭😭😭😭 I was wondering why dragon slayer sounded familiar. Both are D slayers)

- The low shot of the dragon with the sword pierced is so good. Again, I feel like sleeping beauty is the result of artists taking the lead over studio executives. I mean, don’t quote me on this cause I don’t know the whole production story of course, but every frame is ART. Talented people making the most of their talents.

- Never understood how Phillip didn’t fall with her

- Dragon so big she became a small black blob

- When elsa dies, Olaf dies. When maleficent dies…… her evil vegetation dies

- I’m so glad I can separate the same characters from different movies cause I like this maleficent unapologetically evil and I like the other maleficent as an misunderstood fairy and it doesn’t bother me them being the same. Variants.

- kiss so powerful it awoke the dead and changed the color palette. But it’s such beautiful scene

- It’s so ridiculous how this 50’s movie looks better than literally anything and everything being made today….. we had 60 years to catch up but didn’t

- The details of the background characters….. they have such distinct features and outfits…. Not even an inch of this movie was lazily done

- I wanted more of aurora with her parents 😭😭😭😭😭😭 her mother is legit crying 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

- Ridiculous comment now but these balconies the fairies are at? Frustrate me 😭😭😭 they are very common in castles and churches, my old school was a palace turned school, we had those, and they are so ridiculously hard to get on. Instead of just a stair case outside the room you’d have to go through so much palace to just get there why is it so hard? Are are there even indoor balconies I don’t understand 😭😭😭

- The iconic pink/blue fight continues till the end. Love how aurora doesn’t even question. Phillip must have her under a spell.

- This is a gigantic review/commentary but I just love this movie and it’s so misunderstood and wrongfully hated on. It doesn’t need to be progressive. It doesn’t need to be girl boss. It’s an adaptation of the sleeping beauty and that’s it. Not being progressive doesn’t even mean it’s the opposite. It’s none. It’s not a commentary on social problems. It’s just it’s own fantasy romance thing. Leave it alone if you don’t have taste

- again on aurora’s defense, the movie is called sleeping beauty of course she’s gonna have to sleep. It’s not her fault she was cursed. She just can’t kiss herself or avoid the curse with the power of girl boss. The whole point of the movie is that there’s a sleeping beauty that whole part just can’t be skipped no matter the adaptation. So if you don’t like a sleepy protagonist, skip this one out
