I found this REALLY detailed and nice Picrew to help me with making references for my OC's (or at least, so that when I get a commission for them, I'll have a visual reference for the artist and not just a description)

Adamina looks so good in it! A perfect reference for how her face and hair look!

And then I was thinking about it, and I thought it would be cute to have an OC that's a first year at the all-girl's school Ruthie attends who looks up to her!

(Plus I just wanted an OC I could have interact with the NRC first years and possibly ship her with one of them)

I'm still debating on what to name her though, between either Summer or Mirri. But I even thought of what she would wear, too! Her outfit would be something like this:

re this ai art post going around and ablesim/accessibility.................. if you used to draw or paint or sculpt and developed a disability that made it hard or impossible I dont see how written prompt generated art would give you the same "making art" experience that you previously had. and I don't just mean well obviously it's different because your body changed. I mean you didn't actually make anything. as someone who makes art and loves art, that would suck everything I love out of it, everything that makes it gratifying and worth doing. I would literally rather be making picrews all the time. customizing a picrew is genuinely more of an art to me than using ai. (but also keep in mind this is still using other people's work, it just is useful as a creative outlet)

but anyways forget that for a second. when you have a disability that makes creating art difficult or impossible, what do you actually DO? there are plenty of disabled artists today and in history who have done everything possible in order to make their art, but what about people who can't do that? no disabled person is the same. what if they don't have the money for the equipment that could assist them or the tools that could help just don't exist? or there really is no way to make art? I personally have a hard time thinking of such a person but they probably exist. I just wish I could know more about what that situation is in order to know how this person might be able to make art, though I'm sure they might have tried everything.

but like, if there is a way for you to use a computer or phone I feel like there's almost definitely a way for you to make art, you know? it doesn't even have to involve ai art. if there's a way for you to control a mouse or something similar in any way, there's definitely a way to draw. and if you can't draw, wouldn't there be a way to make collages or something? If you can't do visual art, is writing out of the question?

(as for ai art, when it's trained on public domain or permissable art, I definitely can see it being used as a tool in art, but not as something to make art itself. like a step in the process. you didn't create what the ai gave you, but you can do whatever with the resultant image in order to do more creating.)

ANYWAY, I know I simply don't have the perspective to understand the topic fully. so I'm really sorry if I'm asking stupid questions or questions that seem annoying or antagonizing. but I really want to know. even if I dont understand it or disagree with it, I know I can't say "oh actually you finding a creative outlet in feeding this ai prompts to get visual art back isn't rEaL ArT and you should feel bad" because, what if it DOES give them that Making Art Feeling?

measuring things by how much effort they take is a form of ableism. measuring effort is impossible because it differs from person to person. I want to say so badly oh but you can tell when someone didn't try, and that it sucks to have something you worked hard on - either on an individual piece or your entire career as an artist - compared to or grouped with something that someone didn't prepare or train for at all! I want to think that so so bad. or worse winning over your work in a contest

but like, what does it even mean to try? what did making that piece actually mean to that person? did they have fun making it? were they engaged with the process? this whole effort angle makes me wanna rip my eyes out.

- Do not use my art for AI purposes of any kind

- Do not trace, recolour, or repost my art [ the commissioner is allowed to repost so long as they give direct credit via a name- or link-drop ]

- Do not use art commissioned by another individual as a PFP, profile banner, etc. unless given direct permission by the commissioner

- Do not use my art for commercial purposes

- When commissioning, provide a reference for the character. Moodboards, "similar images" from searches, and AI-generated ref sheets will not be accepted. warning for extra dooming and glooming. im self aware and know im about to be extra dramatic in saying this. i don't believe it's true but this is just how i feel about my art and ocs. i don't feel like being reasonable. im on my period so that's my excuse:

it just feels like there is no way to get someone to care about your ocs until you draw them. thats how ive felt for a really long time. you can talk about something and give it a name and shit, but it doesn't mean anything to anyone until you show them a collection of pictures. one reference sheet isn't enough unless your art is REALLY good, which mine is not. you need multiple pictures of them doing different things. interactions.

formula

1 really good art ref + writing = okay. this is adequate. you can probably share this. itll be interesting for an hour, but will fizzle off unless you can draw more.

5 arts including scenes/comics = success, you don't need to develop the character, even if the art isn't too detailed people will become interested, just keep drawing them and people will continue to ask questions and tell you how much they love them

no art / lackluster doodles / picrew / other character creator + 1-4 years worth of writing: utterly worthless. especially if you can't even bring yourself to share the writing because you don't think people would ever take you seriously (this one is where i am usually)

i feel like im too silly to talk about anything i find interesting because i don't take myself seriously so why should anyone else. talking about the complex relationships between my ocs always feels like something needs to cook a little longer, like i should do research because someone who actually knows how to talk to people might say "hey, normal people don't say that." or "that's not realistic, that's an odd reaction" or something idk...

chatgpt made it clear that i don't know how normal humans are affected by certain interactions because there were a lot of things i just never considered that did make one of my backstories more interesting and it was literally just "maybe he feels this way bc of this thing that happened" and it's like. yes of course that makes sense that's totally a normal human emotion to have but. i just never experienced that emotion so i wouldn't know.

i hate. making characters sometimes. because i fear that . if i share them with people there gonna be like. oh. that's cute but that situation wouldn't happen that way. why wouldn't he do this instead? like. idk i made it up.

maybe instead of making characters i actually care about that are full grown adults with lives and mayhaps did not have the best time growing up. i should just stick to cute little cartoons with i substance or backstory. i can relate to empty blank canvases more than anything.

but even that's not enough because i can't ever just pick one personality for any sona i make. it's always "do i make them happy energetic so" or "anxious but polite sou" or "odd bastard '''gremlin''' sou"

or should i just kms and start over. the only reason im not dead yet is because if i got reincarnated id have to start over from the current year and not 2001 which would really suck. i need the Internet to stay the same. there are a lot of experiences i want to keep. it's just the real life experiences that id want to change. what i wouldn't do to be someone else. someone better than me. who actually matters to people outside of the people they know personally. the only thing id want to keep the same are my family, with a few upgrades of course.

this is so lame im such a loser why can't i just be normal and good and cool. did i not go through with tragedy to have a motive to push me? should i have been more traumatized is that what im missing. i don't have any motivation i don't have any story i don't have a reason to live other than because other people expect me to and need me to be useful. i feel appreciated when i do things but i cant remember the last time i felt loved outside of my friend group and bless their hearts bc i love them too but i really wish my happiness wasn't locked to my electronic devices but there isn't anything for me out here.

Okay okay okay. I don't know if I've made my stance on AI art clear here? I talk a lot, but this is also my random haha anime and vsynth place so I genuinely don't recall where my brain went or when.

If you use or support AI that learns from artists' intellectual property without their consent, suck my dick.

That much should be obvious. I'm an amateur artist, and I've studied art for years, surrounded myself in artists for years. I will not tolerate blatant art theft. It applies to reposting, tracing, copying, and teaching an AI to copy it.

If you're reading this and are confused by my clear cut opinion, please take a single second to listen to any artist's stance against AI art. Please take a single second to consider "is theft okay just because I'm using AI?" (spoiler: no? duh?)

And I've most likely talked about AI itself here before. Obviously, this is not an anti-AI sentiment, technically. AI is everywhere. AI is useful. Technology is cool. Stealing from independent artists is still bad. And it's got nothing to do with AI being cool.

You can use AI to create visual art, if you're willing to set it up yourself with a library of art you're allowed to use, most likely because you've purchased it or have a library of royalty free images at your disposition. Of course you can, as long as it's legal, it's fine. Technology's really cool. Good luck though, because only by setting it up yourself will you be sure that it's using images you're allowed to use.

It goes without saying that if I ever accidentally reblog or share "AI art" thinking that it was someone's personal creation, you can let me know and I'll delete and block that fucker. In a similar vein, even if the AI art were somehow, and visibly, created ethically, anyone who passes off AI art as their own can fuck off.

If you're not an artist and want to see cool drawings of your ideas, you can commission an artist. Many artists are forced to undervalue their work, so you might find someone willing to do it for cheap. If you don't have money, you can participate in raffles when they host them, since the sharing and interacting supports them. If you really want to do it yourself, you can use a Picrew and just respect whatever rules the Picrew creator has for sharing creations, usually crediting.

My inconsistent annoying ass is back and I've restarted yet again.

I don't know why but I just keep? Doing this whole bullshit of not being an expert on coding languages immediately and then being frustrated by that.

I'm like a weird mix of perfectionist who has to do everything perfectly the first time but also lazy asshole who doesn't want to expend too much effort.

So, I've restarted and decided to do some stuff with Ren'py.

My biggest concern with Ren'py was definitely the fact that I'm 100% not an artist. I'm not good at drawing or graphic design but Ren'py is very visual heavy.

So, for now, I'm making a visual novel for NaNoRenMo and then seeing where I go from there. I'm working a lot on dialogue and the coding side of it and kind of just worrying about the visuals later on?

I have someone working on the character sprites right now so I'm not too worried about that. It's the GUI stuff that I'm worried about. I'm planning on doing that myself so I needed to get a lot of practice done. Which I did do in September/October so I could be prepared for NaNoRenMo.

I've been doing like test GUI things? So, thank god. It wasn't too bad, just needed a bit of work on the art department. The way to code it was a pain in the ass but easy to learn.

I mostly used Zeil Learnings' video on Image Buttons and their video on Main Menu Customization as well as qubodupDev's video on Image Buttons on YouTube.

It was a bit frustrating to learn but, because it's repetitive work, I got the hang of it eventually. Here's some gifs of how it went.

This gif kind of shows off how my buttons look when you hover over them and stuff.

Then, of course, I practiced a little on how to customize dialogue boxes. I also used another Zeil Learning's video to learn about that. Specifically, I watched a lot of their video on Dialogue Customization over and over.

Customizing the dialogue boxes and stuff was so much easier than customizing the main menu since I got a lot of practice with image buttons on the main menu and the dialogue is way more simple than the main menu.

Here's the image of the dialogue box that I customized.

Ignore the ugly Main Character Holder and the weird dialogue. I was testing out how long the names could be for the name box and ended up keeping the name that way.

I was also testing out how to unlock CG for the gallery I made so that's why there's the huge guy I made with picrew in the background. I'd post the picrew but it got taken down.

Then, the next step was doing a whole custom menu? Which sucked but, like I said before, not as much as the main menu since I got a lot of practice already. I also used another Zeil Learning's video (their video on Making Your Own Image Gallery) and they posted some of their code and assets on itch.io.

The entire time I was doing this, I was kind of trying to figure out what I wanted to write about for NaNoRenMo. I was thinking of doing what I was planning on doing for Twine but do it for Ren'py instead.

Except my perfectionist stupid brain kinda dumped that idea.

So, I was wracking my brain and figured that I should just write about something I'm passionate about. Right now, it's Villainess Isekai manga.

I've been obsessed with the genre for like a couple years now. I've read a lot of light novels and mangas and I basically celebrated to death when the anime for some of them started getting churned out last year and this year.

I figured that there would be a dedicated fan base for it (since I'm a part of that fan base LOL) and decided to go that route.

So, now, I'm writing a Villainess Reincarnation visual novel/otome game where you play as a Villainess!

Another one of my obsessions has been Our Life: Beginnings and Always. It's a really great visual novel/otome game that really puts to use my absolute favorite romance trope: childhood friends to lovers.

It's a really in-depth game that gives the player a lot of choices and lets the player customize their character a lot. I've always been a huge slut for character customization in video games so I've always wanted to make a game like that.

So, of course, I'm loosely basing the visual novel/otome game I'm making on Our Life.

Think Our Life x Villainess Reincarnation.

The premise for the game is that you're a Villainess that was killed at the guillotine (like usual) and you've woken up in bed with a lot of your memories missing.

You start out as a child and then kind of grow up, trying your hardest to learn from the mistakes you've made.

I'm still trying to figure out if I should implement a moments selection like in Our Life or I should just make it very linear. I'm leaning more towards the moments selection, though.

I just don't like the fact that it would be too much work.

But yeah, my friend (not my special friend LOL) has been working on sprites for the game since pretty much November started. I've just been using placeholders so far becos they haven't finished any of the sprites yet.

(Obviously, holy shit, sprites are super fucking hard to draw.)

I've written a lot of stuff (I'd like to think) since NaNoRenMo started. I was being really lazy in the beginning but my special friend has lit a fire under my ass and now I'm like updating my blog and writing a lot for the visual novel/otome game.

I'm determined to churn something out LOL

But yeah, that's my update. Hopefully, I'll be able to update tomorrow or something with a new word count and some updates on how the game is going.

I want to keep the game as vague as possible? Just becos I don't want to give anyone spoilers. So, I'll mostly be talking about like the technical aspects of the game rather than any plot points.

Also, I forgot to mention but the tentitive title for the game is Never Ending Love.

Aww thanks! Maybe I write a bit too much ahaha.

Well, idrk what you’re searching advice for so I will give general tips.

Before writing:

Do your research. Not only about the subject, but if there’s people out there who have also thought about the idea and have a tag for it.

Set a goal. I suck at this myself, but having a not-rigid word count goal (with timer if it makes you feel more motivated) really get your gears going. There’s a few pages that make it more entertaining too!

Warm up Drabbles. Nothing better than writing something adjacent to what you really want to write just to warm up and get a bit more creative so you hit the zone quicker.

This is optional but if you have time, make a page for your characters and setting. Like a reference page so you don’t go write someone is 160 cm when you have already said they’re 178.

While writing:

Limit your editing. It’s tempting to correct in the moment, (more if you’re unsure about grammar) but sometimes while fixing something you lose your pace and in the worst cases, forget where you were going. Editing can come later.

If you’re gonna have CW at the top, highlight the key words so it’s easier to go through it later.

After writing:

Don’t delete your scrapped ideas. You don’t know when you might wanna use that idea, so even if it’s never used having an scrap document for them is great.

If you didn’t like the end product altogether, it’s fine to put it aside for a while and come back to it later to see if it really should be abandoned in the scrap document or tossed away. Sometimes a little bit of time makes the errors look less severe and fixable and the good things to pop out more. Let it brew!

Pass your text through a beta reader and a program that allows you to correct your grammar and spot typos.

To gain attention:

Quick note here, don’t get discouraged if you don’t receive millions of likes in your first chapter. Sometimes it takes two projects or more to get traction. Keep going regardless of numbers! They don’t dictate how good you are!

Interact with others. Slide into inboxes, participate in ask and tag games, reblog other people’s fics, make collabs. most people are cool with being tagged in games even if you’re not mutuales with them so don’t be shy! Although, Don’t just talk to people to use their following.

Take part in writing/drawing challenges. July has the @whumpmasinjuly event with a prompt list, as there is events like the month of writers, nanowrimo, whumptober, etc.

Keep writing and explore other ideas besides your comfort zone. This started as a whump writing blog, but evolved into positivity, some art and writing (even occasional thoughts and poetry) The variety lends itself to grow your range of public and to expand your creative library.

Promote yourself. Shamelessly self reblog your favorite fics, or just reblog it for the timezone difference. You’re proud of what you wrote and I’m proud of you for writing it, but sometimes tumblr sucks and I won’t see it immediately. So don’t be afraid of reblogging your own things!

Make your own events and ask games. DTIYS, requests, giveaways when you hit a follower milestone. If you have the time for it and have fun doing it, go for it!

This is my personal opinion, but having visuals for your story such as mood boards, picrews, illustrations, etc. Makes me more interested in a story. It’s also an easy way to present your characters to your readers.

Have fun. It’s noticeable when an author is having fun writing it and when it feels like a chore. I’m not telling you to absolutely love it, just to trust in yourself and what you’re doing a bit. If it doesn’t feel right, revision it. If you can’t find it, hand it to someone and ask for their opinion. Not having fun doing what you love hurts like a bitch, and it just rubs salt in the wound when it flops or you can’t stand reading through it. So, explore ideas, maybe go back to your comfort to come back to the new a bit less scared. Or maybe find new inspirations so you can go rush and add new stuff and weed out what doesn’t seem right.

Overall that’s it I think. @ashintheairlikesnow has a great tag for new writers in her blog so I advice to check that out and ask more people. @thewritershandbook is also a good resource place!

Don't use pronouns for us that aren't specified. Don't come here and try to correct our labels. If you're gonna interact with this blog you can't be ableist, transphobe, TERF, homophobe, etc. Don't use the r slur near this blog cause you're gonna get blocked. Don't try to invalidate our experiences. The body has recently turned 18, so you can follow us, but please don't talk to us unless you're 16-21. That's the age range we accept.

Do

You can call us things like dear, sweety, honey, dude, bro, bae/babe/baby only if I know you. You can send asks, we love it! You can ask questions about being trans, queer, a system, autistic, ADHDer, etc. You can ask something to a specific alter even if they're not fronting. Send us music and we will put pics that have those vibes! You can send us photos for us to rate, send us promts for us to write. Just send stuff and we'll do something about it. Please send picrews, we kinda collect them. You can tag us in stuff you'd think we'd like.

We kinda suck at tagging 'tw' but if you're following us and want us to tag something we aren't tagging let us know and we'll do our best!

If you think I'm being an asshole, racist, ableist anything like that please let us know. We may not have realized we were being it.

omg !!! i just saw ur art and read the descriptions about the hyde family and i cant wait to read more about them !!! if its not considered a spoiler, how did the family react (specially jackie and hyde) about gracie coming out?

It's not a spoiler at all. I decided that I'm not going to be mysterious about the TSG sequel and the TSG characters mostly because I want to share everything I can about them with you guys, so you'll end up loving them as much as I do! You can literally ask me anything you want, and I'll answer!

Jackie and Hyde kind of already knew about Gracie, they just waited for her to tell them because they wanted to respect her time. They're her parents, they noticed how she'd often glance at other girls when they went out together, and how she never really seemed interested in boys at all. They knew long before she knew.

In fact, Gracie never really came out to them, but they were trying so hard to be supportive that she figured out that they knew.

For example, every time a lesbian couple showed up on TV (like Carol and Susan from Friends, Willow and Tara from Buffy, Callie and Arizona from Grey's Anatomy, etc), Jackie would say out loud how cute she thinks they are and how she's totally, 100% okay with it, and Hyde would often say out loud how much he hates when people call each other "gay" as a way to insult someone and how there's absolutely nothing wrong with being gay.

They were literally so obvious, and one day Gracie just went to them and was like "You guys know", and Jackie and Hyde smiled at her and she hugged them tight and cried because her parents are awesome and she loves them so much.

Dylan and Layla were also very supportive of her, they just want their little sis to be happy.

Basically, everyone was okay with it, even Red and Kitty.

I go by Fire (pronounced like the number 4 in Norwegian aka something like "fi" as in "FInland" and "ray" as in "a RAY of sunshine", or something like that but idk how to explain) and this is my blog where I post random stuff that have to do with hetalia in some way

I cant spell at all so I'm sorry for any spelling mistakes

I can absolutely not draw but I do it anyway I can now draw and will be posting some

I really like scary stuff and blood and fire (I'll try to keep it down but just a quick warning so it's not a suprise)

I'm constantly running on an hour of sleep, a few chocolate chips, a handful of pretzels sticks, brownies and pure spite so idk what living feels like anymore (tho somehow it's enough to give me the energy it would take for 15 hamsters to run fast enough in their spin weel to make enough electricity for the entire world for an entire year)
