Everyone deserves their f/os btw 💖🫶💖
The concept of needing to 'deserve' love is silly as it is, but even still. You deserve the love they give you, and you deserve it unconditionally. Never forget that.

“see you”
Tumblr media
okkotsu yuuta x reader
summary: when yuuta’s disappearance has much more of an effect on you than you every thought…
a/n: I had a totally different idea for this,, but it didn’t work out so I came with this. not proofread and I’ll probably change certain things when im not high on sleep deprivation.
—————————————————————-
everyday was a joyful day. well at least, you tried to make it joyful. you didn’t see the purpose in wanting to make your day worse by thinking too much so everything was always so sudden, energetic and for some people maybe a little annoying. but those were things you never cared about. people’s opinion didn’t matter to you. you lived your life for yourself and not for anyone else, so why not try to make the best out of it?
you weren’t easily budged so having missed the bus and running to school in the rain instead didn’t even concern you in the slightest. you had a toast in your mouth and took whatever drink you had in the fridge and ran out the door with your umbrella in one hand and your drink in the other. you were basically jumping in every puddle you saw, not caring if your socks got wet. a big smile was on your face because who didn’t enjoy jumping in puddles with bread in your mouth. you looked at the drink you had taken out of the fridge and got happy that it was strawberry milk, your favourite.
with the speed you were running you knew you’d make it just in time for classes, but before you could reach the school building you saw a young man sitting on a bench. head down, hands intertwined and looking miserable.
well grumpiness in the morning wasn’t for you, so even if you could put a small smile on his face you’d be more than happy. so before you knew it you were standing in front of the guy, holding the umbrella above the two of you. his gaze slowly turned in your direction, his eyes were red and swollen so that indicated that he was probably crying. you gave him a big smile, showing a full set of teeth. you weren’t ashamed the slightest. you handed him the umbrella and placed the strawberry milk on his lap.
before he could say anything you took your bag and placed it over your head and started running In the direction of school. you heard him calling after you and when you turned around you could swear you could see a faint smile on his face. so in return you waved at him. “see you”, you found yourself saying while running through the school grounds.
the day after you saw him sitting there again after having missed your bus again, he handed your umbrella and mumbled a thank you and you’d only smile at him and leave with a sprint because you’d miss school otherwise.
the day after that you saw him again, sitting yet again in the rain with a miserable look. so you gave him your umbrella and, for this time, banana milk and started running with your bag over your head to school. he’d try to call for you again and you’d only turn your head while running and would scream “see you” again.
and before you knew it you’d purposely miss every bus and run to school, just so you could see him on that bench every morning. so you could give him your umbrella in the rain and he’d give it back on sunny days and would mutter a shy “thank you” while you’d scream “see you” after every meeting.
you started to leave the house earlier so you could see him and maybe even talk with him and when you’d see him sitting on that bench you made your way to sit next to him. he didn’t notice it was you yet so you spoke up. “huh, that much for giving you my umbrella every two days”, you said with a pout.
his face shot in your direction and you could see the flush red ears and slightly tinted cheeks as he looked at you.
“you know, buying you an umbrella would solve many of your problems, but I seem to find it more fun to give you mine and get it back afterwards while you thank me”, you said. “I don’t think i’ve properly introduced myself.” you rose from your seat and stood in front of him while stretching out your arm. “i’m y/n, nice to meet you.”
he smiled at you and shook your hand. “okkotsu, okkotsu yuuta.”
“did you know you have very beautiful eyes yuuta”, you said as you pulled him closer.
he’d blush again and you’d laugh. “i’m looking forward to meet up with you more often.”
and you’d see him every day. every morning ten minutes before classes would start, because even If it were only ten minutes with him they made you feel the happiest. not even jumping in a puddle could relate to the feeling you had when you were with him.
you would wake up in the morning trying to look better for him. wear your pretty socks or try to make your hair look slightly better than usual and every so often you’d wear a mask to let your skin glow. you found yourself doing things you’d never thought you’d do for someone. suddenly you cared a lot.
you’d figure out all kinds of things about him. his family, his past, his friends (which he didn’t have much). you learned his reason behind his gloomy days and you figured out the reason why he never went to school. “heeh, you pervert. bet you’re just looking at all the passing high school girls.”
he’d worriedly and anxiously try to tell you that was not the case because he was also a high school student, even though you were well aware he’d never actually look at every girl going to school. his reasoning was that he had special tutoring, something you’d never heard before. probably some extra math classes or something. well it wasn’t as if it would have much effect on you.
it was raining again and you were ready to see yuuta again, but when you were running happily to the bench and sprung in every puddle in the meanwhile you saw he wasn’t there. and he wasn’t there again for several weeks that turned into months.
mornings weren’t special anymore and as much as you hated that this had an effect on you you couldn’t help the growing ache in your chest. you’d jump in puddles on rainy days, but they didn’t give you as much joy as they used to. you tried to run with your bag on your head to work up some adrenaline, but nothing really worked. nothing gave you the joy you wanted.
many months passed and you found yourself being the person you hated. being the person you did not want to become. being the person that thought too much and let negative thoughts overpower your brain.
it was raining again and you found yourself missing the bus on accident this time. so you walked, not ran, but walked to school that day with no umbrella, no flavoured milk and no bag over your head to protect you from the rain. just you walking in the rain getting completely drench. you saw the bench and made your way to it. you thought of yuuta and sat down at the exact spot he’d sit down.
you hated every moment. you didn’t wanna sit there and remember. you wanted to move on and be happy. who was yuuta anyways? some dude that forgot his umbrella every day? and yet you couldn’t move an inch. the rain had stoped, but the sounds were still there and suddenly a small bottle of strawberry milk was placed on my lap. you shot your head up and your eyes widened. and umbrella over your head.
“it’s unlike you to see you so gloomy in the morning”, he’d say with his oh so familiar smile. he changed. his hair changed and he grew taller. his face matured and he look a lot more calm rather than anxious like he used to be.
you didn’t realize it until he brushed his hand under your eyes that you were crying. “why did you leave so suddenly?”, you asked.
“I can’t tell you the whole story yet, but I promise you that I will one day”, he said as he placed a hand on your cheek. “i’m sorry for leaving you so suddenly.”
you took his hand and lowered it from your face. “you can’t just disappear for months and come back only with a sorry expecting me to forgive you. i’ve been through hell. don’t ask me why you leaving had such an effect on me, but it did. I found myself worrying about what you’d think of me, even though something like that never happened to me before. I was happy to see you every morning and I hate how much of a bitter aftertaste you left behind when you didn’t show up for the past months. I hated you. I hated you so much, that I couldn’t even stop thinking about you. and I couldn’t stop myself from caring about you”, you said through tears.
“then let me make it up to you”, he whispered.
you knew what was coming and you let it happen. because you craved his touch and you craved to feel his lips on yours. so when they touched it felt ever so lightly that you found yourself intoxicated by it. you wanted more and pulled him closer as if he’d leave again. you didn’t give him a second to break it while letting your lips dance together. your heart was hammering in your chest and your brain was a mess.
you weren’t going to let him off the hook so easily. a kiss couldn’t stop you from being angry. but the kiss told you that he was ready to stay and was a form of saying that he wasn’t going anywhere. so your repeated see you’s were not a waste of hope.

flowers on hongdae street
pairing : lisaxfem!reader
genre : fluff with a hint of angst
warnings : rejection lol
words : 1.4k
synopsis : going to the flower shop everyday buying flowers for your lovely sweatheart. only to find out she doesn’t like you back. bummed out, you avoid the flower shop. but the cute girl who would see you daily we’re having none of it
Tumblr media
"good morning!" you said while smilling cheerfully at the cashier. "hello y/n" lisa smiled at you and leaned over the counter, resting her head on her palm. "what can i get you today?" you pursed your lips out and took off your headphones. you swore you heard a small giggle. but you decided to ignore it.
you took a good look around the small overgrown flower shop. the walls were filled covered with the colour mint and overgrown flowers. it's a pretty pleasant sight. you could stay here for hours just looking around at the exterior. but you have to deliver your daily flowers to roseanne. you can't wait to see her face again when she opens her locker and smells the flowers looking so etheral. you don't even know how she does it. but you're happy you're her source of happiness. "today i want something different again"
you looked up at lisa with a big smile showing of your newly flossed teeth. lisa looks at you and cooed. "it's for the same person?" she said while going over to the tulips. her hands scheme over the flowers. "well..." you weren't ready to tell her that you didn't know what roseanne liked. it's so pathetic. "i don't really know what she likes" you said embarrassingly while scratching your nape.
lisa turned around and laughed while you huffed out a breath off annoyance. "you're such a lovesick fool it's amusing" you rolled your eyes, popping your earphones back in your ear and started heading to the counter. after a good 2 minutes she came back with a bouquet of lillies. you gasped when the flowers came into your sight. you've always loved lillies. everything about it was so graceful. it was just an all rounded flower. you opened your wallet and payed the usual amount for a bouquet. after bidding lisa goodbye you made your way to school. going through the heavy doors of the school you went straight to roseanne's locker to drop off her flowers. you smiled as you admired the patterns on the flower. it got cut off quick when you heard her laughter. you looked back at the metal doors and saw her laughing with her friends. in a hurry you ran to your locker which wasn't that far away from her so she wouldn't be suspicious on why you were at her locker looking at the flowers. you peeked your head out to look at her. you smiled as she smelled the flowers and reading your note. it was just a simple compliment. you hoped it would be enough for her to reciprocate the feelings you have for her.
—-
after a few weeks of visiting the flower shop. today will be the last time you ever go there. today was a special day. you've finally gotten the courage to confess to roseanne. the flowers that you've gotten her always seemed to made her smile. so you expect her to fall inlove with your romantic doings.
"good morning lisa!" you said cheerfully. she was shocked by your sudden entrance. you've never walked in the shop like this. you were always calm and weren't the one to make a scene. so she was astonished to say the least. she greeted you back and ignored your happy state. thinking you woke up on the right side of the bed.
"today i want roses" you said leaning over the counter. lisa hummed and walked over to the pile of roses that was at the corner of the shop. "that seems oddly specific." she said in curiosity. you chuckled nervously and hesitated for a bit. "im going to confess today" you said. lisa's reaction caught you off guard. she was squealing while hitting you and jumping up and down. "finally! you've wasted so much in this shop. im getting sick of it." you chuckled at her words. you love lisa so much. she managed to calm you from your nerves and think about something else.
after paying and her giving you way too much encouragement. you started to make your way through the school gates.
—-
"no. sorry"
your heart shattered. you're so confused. what have you done wrong? she seemed to like all your givings. so why was she denying you now? your cheeks starts to blush in embarrassment and your arms went limp. the roses looking dead as ever.
"oh okay then."
you accepted your defeat and walked away. dragging your feet in sadness. after your first heartbreak. you decided not to comeback to the flower shop because it reminds you of how dumb and naive you were. being near the shop always reminded you of the tragedy. so you'd always walk on the other side of the road when you walk pass that street eventhough walking near the flower shop takes less time then crossing the road just to avoid it.
----
"fuck sorry" you apologised while still trying to grab your bus card. once you got a hold of it you started picking up the flowers that you knocked over from the other person. you handed it to them and noticed that they were wearing the worned out white nike airforces that you knew to well. before you could make a run for it. "hey y/n!" you sighed and greeted her back and started walking off. "are you okay?" she pulled you back with worry in her eyes. you just gave her a sheepish smile. she frowned at that but you could see her eyes light up.
"it didn't work out?" she asked and you just nodded. she patted your back and gave you a rose. you were stunned. she wouldn't normally do this. if this was her she would've raised the price for you. you looked up to tell her that you're in a hurry and can't accept this. but she was already at the counter dealing with a customer. you shrugged and rushed your way over to the bus stop.
once you've settled down on the bus, you decided to take this relaxing time and sniffed the rose that Lisa gave. the smell felt so nostalgic. you were gazing at the rose when you noticed a small note tied up to it. how could i miss that? you thought. I'm really out of it this morning. the note was folded into.
' why have you been avoiding the shop? i don't know what are your reasons but everyday when you would walk pass the shop across the street, you look so sluggish and very grumpy. so my hypothesis is you got heartbroken. lol. i feel bad for the girl. she lost a romantic. if what im hypothesising is true, we could go on a date on friday 8pm at the flower shop just fixing up the flowers and adding some oil. how does that sound? you might be thinking that this is a way for me to avoid working and you are absolutely right. but keeping the flowers in check is fun. and it's really romantic and cheap. so why not come? i'll be waiting '
you chuckled at her note. you didn't notice the smile that was forming on your face. of course you're going. you've always loved flowers so why not spend an evening with a cute girl surrounded by flowers? sounds like heaven.
----
on friday night you got ready and just wore a simple tshirt with long wide black pants. you were estatic to see the lisa, you would be lying if you didn't had a thing for her. everything would be so different if you met lisa first and falling for her rather than roseanne. it would deffinitely spare you from a heartbrake since she likes you back.
upon arriving the small bell on too of the entrance rang. signalling someone has entered. you took a good look around the flower shop that you haven’t been to for months. nothing changed really. except for the flowers on the wall behind the counter had overgrown and the lady behind it looking stunning as ever.
she was fixing some of the flowers that was hanging from the ceiling. her apron was covered in dirt. it made you chuckle. you made your way behind her.
you were about to ask her what was she doing when she turned around and bumped into you. the bump was strong enough to make you both topple over. you landed on your back with lisa in your arms and you’re pretty sure it’ll be sore in the morning. you both exchanged looks and started bursting out in laughter. this was the night that you would surely move on.

we'll learn to swim in the oceans you made
After listening to Shirtsleeves by Ed Sheeran this scenario immediately came into mind, also heavily inspired by Jenn Im's pregnancy youtube video titled, "We're Pregnant!"
[Also a very big thank you to A (@solhwippedsubs on twt and holdoutandwin on ao3) for beta-reading this. I love you my solhwi fluff confidant!]
Word Count: 2k words
"Wake up!" Sol removes the comforter that was covering his husband's body and started shaking him. "Han Joon Hwi, ireona!"
"Mmm, Sol-ah. Why?" Joon Hwi covered his eyes with his arm to shield them from the rays of sunlight and wondered why the love of his life was forcing him out of their bed so early in the morning.
"Ireona! Jebal.." Joon Hwi immediately shot up as Sol's voice started to crack and he examined her face. Sol teared up and Joon Hwi noticed she was holding something tightly, stick close to snapping into half.
"Babe, what's wrong? Are you okay?" Joon Hwi held both of her arms and looked up at her.
Sol had been so emotional these days, well, more than she usually is. Sol always has been a passionate ball of fury, but Joon Hwi especially had it rough this week. He doesn't find Sol annoying or tiring for any of that matter, but he would wonder why Sol would suddenly cry or get mad at him for absolutely no reason, and if there was, then he avoided asking it as when he did that one time, Sol only got more mad at him. There was also yesterday when Joon Hwi sprayed on himself the perfume that Sol gifted to him on their wedding anniversary last April and Sol suddenly pinched her nose close and walked outside of their bedroom. And now, Sol was in tears, sobbing, at 7 am in the morning.
"Babe.. I'm starting to worry. What's wrong?"
"I told you to be careful!!!" Sol lightly punched his shoulder and bawled.
Joon Hwi raised his arm and wiped her tears using the sleeves of his sweater, pulling on the cloth with his fingers. "What did I do wrong? Calm down for a sec and tell me.."
"Don't tell me to calm down!"
"O-okay." Joon Hwi surrendered for a while and let Sol release all of her emotions. Moments later, her sobs started to simmer down and Joon Hwi opened his arms wide. "C'mere."
Sol bended down and let Joon Hwi's arms circle around her. Her lower body slowly went closer to him and then she sat on his lap, her shoulder against his chest. Joon Hwi wiped down the dampness on her face and caressed her arm. "Now, babe, talk to me, okay? I'm never gonna know what I did wrong if you won't tell me."
Sol faced him and tried to form intelligent words. "Well, you—"
"Hmm?"
"I'm—" Her mouth started to form into a pout and tears started fall again from her eyes. "Joon Hwi-ah." She released sobs again and buried her face into his neck. Joon Hwi sighed and patted her arm.
"Babe—"
"I'm pregnant."
Joon Hwi paused his movements and pulled his head back away, lightly pushing Sol by her shoulders, to let Sol face him. Sol's eyes wandered down to her left hand and Joon Hwi followed them, then he grabbed the stick from her hand.
It was a pregnancy test. Two red-dyed lines. Positive.
Joon Hwi faced Sol, his lips starting to form into a smile. "Babe—"
"I told you to be careful!!" Sol again whimpered, tears still falling.
"W-what? Is it because I—"
"Nevermind!" Sol wiped her tears in a rash way and breathed out to calm herself down. "I-it's actually not your fault." Sol now realized the irrationality of her internal reasoning.
Joon Hwi held back a chuckle and tucked a hair behind his wife's ear.
"Remember April?"
"When we shared a sloppy kiss under the rain?" Joon Hwi tried to lighten the mood by reminding her how they had to walk all the way to the bus stop under the heavy pouring rain, just right after they had their wedding anniversary date at a fine dining restaurant four months ago. It was a funny, but sweet memory.
"No! Before that, when I got diagnosed with PCOS."
"Aah."
It left Sol and Joon Hwi almost hopeless for a child when she was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. But Sol, even before that, was convinced she didn't need to have kids and that she was satisfied with her life with Joon Hwi, content that they'd be that couple with no children. They were already busy with their very time-demanding jobs and Sol— she convinced herself she wouldn't be competent with the whole mothering a child thing. But after knowing her condition, the question, "should I?" turned to "could I?". The condition that would possibly rob her of the choice eventually made her think about how it wouldn't be so bad, because Joon Hwi was there. So after the news of her condition, she decided on one thing.
"A-after that I got off birth control." Joon Hwi nodded and listened to Sol, who was still tearing up a bit, and he also wiped down those tears when he could.
"Then yesterday, when I realized I wasn't on my period yet, I got to read my period calculator and saw that I- I was 16 days late." Sol exhaled for courage.
"Then I bought the pregnancy test." Sol paused and looked at Joon Hwi, and her face looked like she was about to burst again. Her lips were shaking and her eyes were still crystal with tears ready to fall. She was scared.
"You can take it slow, I'll be here. I won't stop listening." Sol released a small smile, tidied her face and tucked in her stray hairs, preparing to tell Joon Hwi more while also now trying to relax herself.
"I didn't know if I should take it though. I mean, everything would change if I was pregnant. But I did wanna know, I wanted to be certain. And it said that I should use my morning pee for it so I waited until morning."
"But you hardly even slept.." Joon Hwi recalls her wife tossing and turning beside him, and then ultimately giving up trying to sleep then went downstairs. He bets on Sol reading up on her cases, which works as an alternative sleeping pill for her.
Ever since she was diagnosed with PCOS, Sol really took effort into having a more healthy lifestyle— like exchanging coffee for matcha, this among other things, and also trying to get some more sleep. So Joon Hwi knew that Sol would definitely try to catch up on sleep.
"I did, a bit." She smiled. "So, after that I took it just earlier. A-and I tested positive." Sol's emotions now returned to her and she closed her eyes, her eyebrows furrowed and tears started to fall again.
"I'm scared." She looked at him. "I don't know if I'm gonna be a good mother. I feel like I should be happy or something, but I'm just really scared." Sol now covered her face with both palms and cried, Joon Hwi pulled her in to embrace her.
"Babe.." He patted her back.
"What if I try my best, and our kid still doesn't love me?" That was it. Sol released another wave of sobs and her body shook against Joon Hwi's embrace.
Sol thought she wasn't ready. Even if it was her choice to get off birth control, she didn't think she would immediately become pregnant. After all, her doctor said it was now almost impossible to be. In her mind, pregnancy would change everything— from how much devotion she has to her work to maybe how her and Joon Hwi's relationship would change, and maybe for the worst. And she didn't like change, her idealistic plans for her future would need to be altered, and she also didn't like how it would most likely change their marriage. She couldn't have that, she couldn't live with a ruined marriage because she didn't want anything to change between Joon Hwi and her, and she also couldn't live with her child possibly having to live through all that. And what if he gets tired of taking care of me? And tons of other doubts and insecurities showered her.
Why does my mind do this? Sol asked herself. Why can't I just be excited? Joon Hwi is the father of this child. I'm sure he's disappointed in me right now.
Joon Hwi pulled away after she calmed down. He wiped her face, again with his already damp shirtsleeves. He placed short kisses on her wet cheeks and cupped her face. "Sol, I believe in you."
Sol melted and her lips turned into a pout, her face still showing fear and uncertainty.
"I'm with you, whatever your decision is. I will be always there for you as I always have. If you arrive to whichever decision, I will give you my opinion but at the end I will always support you. If you don't want to have the baby, I'll still be here. If you want to try and see it through the end, I will be happy and help you every step of the way. I'm your husband Sol-ah. I know you don't trust yourself that much yet, but trust in me. "
Sol put her arms around him and hugged him tight. "I love you Sol. We'll take it slow, step by step. I know you're panicking right now, but there's no rush. We'll do it together. You're never gonna be alone. I'll be there every single step of the way. And I'm sure our kid will love you. You were an amazing older sister to Byeol and you still are, she adores you so I'm sure our kid will, too."
"I love you Joon Hwi. I love you so much. I love you."
"You love me that much?"
Sol pulled away, annoyed. Joon Hwi released a chuckle.
"I love you too."
"You sure I can do it?" Sol asked. "Being a mom? What if I'm going to be too busy for it?"
"We can always ask Byeol to babysit. Or your mom, she has said she already wants a grandchild."
"You always know the solution to things don't you?" Sol rolled her eyes.
"That's why I'm the perfect husband to the ever worrier Eomma Sol."
"Eomma Sol?" Sol raised her voice, taken aback by the sudden nickname.
"And I'm Appa Joon Hwi. " Then Sol bursted out, laughing. Her tears were now drying on her cheeks and she was more relaxed now.
"See? It's cute." I just wanted to see you smile. Joon Hwi thought.
Sol pulled him into a hug again. "You better not regret being a father to our child, Han Joon Hwi-ssi."
Joon Hwi let himself fall into bed, taking down Sol with her. They both laughed and Joon Hwi pulled her into a kiss, tasting the bitterness and sadness of her tears. They made out, feeling at home and Sol, feeling assured and loved by the person in front of her. Joon Hwi kissed her, tasting the ocean, drowning in the one she made.
"I will never regret it. I will fulfill all the promises I made on our wedding day, to be by your side, To support you, to be a loving husband, to be always there to annoy you—" Sol laughed, remembering his one-liner during their exchange of wedding vows. "To always wake and sleep beside you whenever I can, and to never leave your side." They both smiled at each other and Joon Hwi placed a kiss on her forehead. They pull each other close, feeling each other's warmth. And Sol is now close to slumber, fatigued after her nonstop crying.
"I'll be the happiest father to our child. Of course I will, you're the mother, after all."

____________________
Arguments between couples was completely normal, it was a very common thing to be disagreeing with your significant other over things once in a while. Or at least that’s what you kept telling yourself to pull through the nights whenever Toshi felt like picking a fight with you. Your relationship with him only kept on getting worse and worse each day, the constant fighting draining you mentally and physically. If you knew your relationship with him was going to turn out like this then you wouldn’t had agreed to that date four years ago. But how could you say no to him? Back in high school, everything was more simple. The memories from years ago is what kept you grounded in your relationship, he used to be so loving and caring in his own way. Now whenever you looked at him, you couldn’t believe how much things had changed. How much he changed. Volleyball and managing to do excellent in school were major stressors for him and you tried your best to be there for him no matter what, even excusing his brutal behavior.
You sighed, picking up your pace and making your way towards your shared apartment with your boyfriend. It was around nine o’clock and you had missed your bus after finishing up a shift that you didn’t even agreed on but you couldn’t just say no. The bus wouldn’t take that long to come around but you rather walk home then wait out in the cold. A familiar stinging in your chest returned after thinking about what he would have to say. You knew he would disapprove of coming home so late but you hoped he would understand that you had to take the extra shift. Anxiety invading all your thoughts, thinking of the worse thing that could happen. Mentally praying to yourself that he was in a good mood tonight.
Breaking up had been something you’ve put a lot of thought into but you kept lying to yourself. Telling yourself that he would change and that as soon the both of you were out of school that it would all go back to normal. You weren’t stupid though, you wouldn’t know how to feel if you kept your relationship with him. The things he would say shattered your confidence and with his tone, it was enough to make anyone rethink their whole purpose. You weren’t even sure why you stuck around. Could it had been that you were just hopelessly in love with him even after every damaging word he would scream at you until you fully memorized it or was it because you were just too afraid to leave him? Afraid of the way that he would react or possibly lash out. The warm and cuddly boyfriend you once knew so well now could only bring you fear instead of that longing warmth.
You kicked off your shoes, finally making it home way before the bus could if you had waited for it. The apartment was quiet, too quiet. He probably was already in bed, catching up on sleep that he had sacrificed on practice and studying. A sigh of relief left your lungs, thinking to yourself that finally there wouldn’t be any arguing tonight. You smiled, making your way towards your room to take a shower before going to bed. Too tired to eat dinner. As soon as you opened the door, your hopes came crushing down. There he sat on the bed with his phone in his hand, scrolling through it. Your breath caught in your throat, scared for whatever was going to happen.
“Where were you?” He asked, still not looking up from his phone. The tone he used wasn’t harsh or cold. It was his usual tone, the one you grew to love in high school.
“I’m so sorry, they made me take an extra shift and then my b-“ Toshi finally looked up and made sure to make eye contact with you. The look in his eyes felt so cold that it made you want to cry. A reminder that there will never be a peaceful night with him.
“And then your what?” His tone never changed but the look in his eyes. It was the look.
“And then I missed my bus because of the extra shift…Please Toshi, please don’t be mad.” You could already feel your tears forming in your eyes. The exhaustion getting to you now, there was just so much that you could take until you just couldn’t anymore and right now it felt like that was the case.
“What the fuck are you crying for? It was just a question. Lately you’ve been spending every day crying. Seems like all youre good for is crying.” There it was, the tone you were so afraid of, finally making its appearance. With both the look he had in his eyes and his tone, you just couldn’t hold back on the tears.
“Because of you! I cry every day because of you. Everyday I wake up and I’m scared of what new insults you’ll come up with! I’m so scared of you and I’m tired, so fucking tired of putting up with the fighting and the way you look at me as if you hate me…” With a blurry vision from your tears you could still make out his face and he was still giving you that awful look.
“Don't talk to me like that. You don’t think I’m tired of the fighting too? You're constantly bitching, I get tired of that too!” You fixed your stare to a glare, mimicking the look he was giving you. It ended up pissing him off even more, making him stand up from the bed, the movement making you flinch.
“My constant bitching is because you’re constantly a dick!” You had never yelled at him like this before, it was all new to him and you. His jaw tensed, holding back from lashing out.
“Don’t fucking yell at me.” He said through gritted teeth, standing tall in front of you now. The way he approached you was frightening. But you didn’t care, you were finally letting out every little thing you were holding in for months.
“I-“ A hiccup interrupting your sentence. “I can’t do this anymore!” Toshi tightened his brows, looking at you with a deep frown planted on his face. “I want to break up.”
You felt your breathing stop when you felt both hands on you. He was never one to put his hands on you and you couldn’t help but just cry harder, scared of what could happen. It seemed like the more you cried the harder his grip on you got, his large hands squeezing your arms feeling like they would snap any minute. His grip on you was vile, feeling your arms go numb from the tightening.
“Please stop, you're hurting me!” Your tears clouded your vision, not being able to see him clearly anymore. But he wouldn’t loosen his grip, his anger controlling him.
“Toshi, you’re hurting me.” You sobbed out and finally getting him to react. He let go, his eyes wide with fear, afraid of the pain he brought you. His eyes looking over your arms and seeing his hand prints, the guilt settling in and making him feel like the worst fucking person in the world.
The both of you stood there in front of each other without moving. His own tears threatening to spill from his eyes but he tried his best to hold them back. He couldn’t cry in front of you, not while he had brought you so much pain. It wasn’t fair to you, he wasn’t fair to you.
You left without saying anything, the only thing he could hear as you walked away was your crying and small gasps for air. He didn’t chase after you, he couldn’t, it wouldn’t be fair to you if he had. It was late and you had no idea where you would go, you did have a name in mind but you weren’t sure how to approach him. Especially with the forming bruises on your arm, he would just ask so many questions and you weren’t in the mood to answer anything at the moment. Your feet still dragged you to his place, it’s not like you had anywhere to go after walking out and leaving your bag and all your other belongings behind.
-
“Hmm?” Tendou murmured after opening the door to his apartment and seeing his friends girlfriend crying her eyes out and shivering from the cold. He could only frown, imagining the worst. “Hey, are you okay?”
He felt the air get knocked out of him when you rammed your body into his, sobbing into his chest and hugging him. The red head returned the hug, still having no clue why you were crying your eyes out in his apartment at such a late hour. With his leg he was able to softly kick the door to his apartment to shut out the cold. You pulled away, a little more calm now after being able to get a hug. Tendou stood by your side patiently as you calmed down, rubbing his hand against your small back and feeling your breathing go back to steady.
That’s when he stopped his comforting, his eyes widening at the soft pink fingerprints on your arm and then on your other arm. “Did he do this to you?” He asked, making you follow him to the small kitchen he had. He reached into his freezer to take out an icepack, offering it to you for your forming bruises. You could only nod to him, your throat feeling sore from the amount of sobs you tried to keep in on your way over.
“We broke up.” Tendou offered you a hug to try to make you feel better which you took with shaky breaths feeling your tears start up again. That night Tendou comforted you on his couch, putting on all kinds of movies you enjoyed to try to cheer you up. Even cracking up jokes to get you to smile, doing anything to get a positive reaction out of you. The next day he offered his spare room, that he used as storage, in his apartment for you to move in knowing that you probably didn’t want to go back to Toshi. The red head had been one of your closest friend since high school and there wasn’t anywhere else to go so you agreed. You still promised him that once you were able to get your shit together that you would find your own place and move out. He even offered to pick up your clothes and items and you accepted, too scared to face Toshi.
-
Tendou knocked on the door with a heavy hand, holding in his breath. He wasn’t sure what to think of his friend now. When he saw the forming bruises on your arms and when you told him about the fighting, he just couldn’t believe that he would let his anger go that far. The door opened, revealing a tensed looking Toshi. With the blank stare present on Tendou’s face it seemed obvious that he knew about what had gone down.
“I’m here to get Y/n’s stuff.” Without a word, Toshi moved from the door allowing a space for Tendou to pass through. No one talked or even offered a glance to the other. It felt tense but Tendou was there for one thing only. He wasn't sure what to grab so he looked around confused until he noticed a familiar backpack you always used to carry around. He made sure to grab that and whatever clothes of yours he could find, he still didn’t have a clue and he felt even more pressured when Toshi was just in a corner, watching.
“The drawer there, thats all of their stuff. I’ll get you a bigger bag.” Tendou looked over to where Toshi pointed to and nodded. He was back in a minute, handing the red head the bigger bag he mentioned. In a flash, most of the drawer was emptied out. All Tendou wanted was to leave but he checked over the room again, to see if he had missed anything by any chance.
“All their shoes are in the closet.” He grabbed the bag that was starting to weigh with a huff and moved toward the closet. Opening it, he could make out which shoes were yours and which were Toshis. Grabbing two pairs at the time to hurry, he could still feel Toshi’s eyes on him.
Tendou stood up, waiting for more instructions but when none came his way and with bags in his hands, he made his way out without saying a word. Toshi could only watch, letting another important person in his life walk away. He felt himself become breathless, tears that he tried his hardest to hold back, prickling. All gone because he couldn’t be a better person to you but he knew it was all his fault and he just had to take the consequences seriously.  But still, he didn’t try to hold the cries when he realized that you had blocked him on everything. He didn’t try to look for you because he knew that it wouldn’t be fair to you, he had already put you through enough. That week you also cried your eyes out, you couldn’t even look at yourself in the mirror because your eyes would always linger on the bruises. You still loved him, he was your world for years and the sudden change hurt the both of you deeply. It was just time for the both of you to heal and move on, Toshi didn’t feel like doing either. He rather live with the pain, reminding himself that the only person who could understand him the best and love him even with his bold personality was just gone.
The first few weeks was hell for the both of you, Toshi took most of the time to reflect on the horrible things he would say to you. Mostly he would channel all that anger he had into volleyball which was a good distraction for him but also the worst time to be thinking about you. It would only make him want to sit and cry his heart out. You would basically do the same thing, taking extra shifts at work and working harder than usual to keep your mind off him. But you could always feel the tears threatening to spill out if something ever reminded you of him. Tendou was a great friend, always around to cheer you up whenever those waves of sadness hit. From making you dinner to even putting up with the dumb movies you liked, he was there to help you heal. Sometimes you would ask him to check on Toshi but he would avoid the question most of the time. He was against you trying to reach out to your ex but you knew he was doing it for you, helping you heal.
One night you couldn’t help but feel around your bed, hoping that it was all just a bad dream. You at least expected to feel that warmth you grew familiar to for years but instead all you could feel was your cold sheets. You silently cried in your bed welcoming the coldness. After years of being by his side constantly, you were finally alone and you weren’t sure how to react. Sure you had Tendou but it wasn't the same. He wasn’t Toshi, he wasn’t the one who would encourage you every day to do your best or who would greet you with his straight forward and awkward loving. Toshi was one of a kind and as much as you wished you could go back to fix things, you also felt like there was no return anymore. You’d do anything to be able to go back running straight into his arms and to be able to feel his warmth once again. Maybe in another life the both of you could reunite and be finally okay.
‘If only’ you thought to yourself, turning on your side on your cold empty bed. The coldness was just something you were going to have to get used to for a while. Now that he was no longer around anymore.

warnings: mentions of getting stood up
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe it was the fact that it was a Friday morning and you had no classes, or that you had walked past the cute little coffee shop on the corner of Avenue street twenty times this week, and you still hadn’t bothered to check it out. Nonetheless, you had the afternoon free today, and you were planning to spend it at Little Leaf Café.
“Welcome to Little Leaf! We hope you have a wonderful time here!” Chorused voices from employees at the café echoed as you opened the door to cold air and overlapping conversations.
It was a gorgeous café, you could tell why it was so popular. Plants of various colors were placed around the area -- hung from grids on the ceiling, on tables, growing on the sides of the walls. Not to mention the festive decorations — an assortment of green and red items meticulously placed around the café.
However, there was something...rather, someone, that was way more gorgeous than the entire cafĂŠ.
“Hello! How can I help you today?”
You were met with an ethereal face after lining up for what felt like ages. As soon as the last heart-struck girl left, an angel entered your line of view.
The sunny boy stood across the counter with a googly smile on his face. You noticed the way his eyes crinkled upwards, and how the apples of his cheeks turned a shade of baby pink when he saw you. He had a silver mullet that looked perfectly trimmed and maintained...you were tempted to run your hands through it. However, his contrasting baritone voice caught you off guard.
In shock and nervousness of talking to new (handsome) people, you completely messed up.
“Hi...I, um, anything? I’ll get anything?” You stuttered and internally facepalmed.
You just embarrassed yourself in front of a very cute boy, but he didn’t seem to notice. Rather, he didn’t seem to mind.
“Sure, I can give you some recommendations. Right now our xmas-special Peppermint Mocha is popular, but if I’m going to be honest, it’s not one of my favorites. I would recommend the Gingerbread Spiced Coffee, but it's your call.” He leaned over the counter and whispered, looking around to make sure his boss didn’t hear him.
As he leaned over to talk to you, you were able to see him clearer. He had glowing skin and his eyes sparkled in excitement, but it made you feel calm. You felt serene and happy looking into his dazzling brown orbs.
Just then, said eyes blinked and squinted at you. That brought you down to Earth.
“Right, right! I’ll get whatever you said! The Singerbread Giced Coffee?” You nodded your head in panic before you realized what you just said.
“Uh, it's called the Gingerbread Spiced Coffee, but sure. Anything else?” He looked back at you after inputting your order with a teasing gleam in his eye.
“Nothing else. I’m sorry, I’m such a mess today!” You bowed in embarrassment and looked at your fidgeting fingers.
He chuckled. “Nothing to worry about. What’s your name?”
“Y/N. What’s yours?” You answered, before realizing that he only needed it to write your name on the plastic cup.
“Oh! I’ve never had anyone ask me my name before. It’s Felix.” He flashed another dazzling smile at you before handing you a table number.
Felix put your order on the pick up table and left to man the counter. Through your peripheral vision, however, you could catch him nervously glancing at you. Ignoring the rising butterflies in your stomach, you walked over to your reserved seat and placed your tray down.

However, as you were about to take a sip of your specially recommended drink, you glanced down and saw your receipt, with a specially written note on it.
Hi, Y/N. If you see this. Read my continued message on the serviette under your drink ;)
-felix
Your heart shuddered as you began to overthink pretty much every possibility that could happen between you and Felix. Maybe he wrote you a note to tell you that you were annoying? Maybe kind of weird? A little cuckoo? A bunch of mind-boggling thoughts started circulating your brain as you slowly flipped your serviette over.
Hi Y/N.
I know this seems like a really unconventional method, but I honestly don’t have the courage to ask someone out on a date in person hehe. Oops! I just said it...uh, would you want to go out with me on a date? I think you’re really cute and I love your personality! Also, um, you’re really pretty.
I was thinking that we can maybe meet at the 31st Bus Stop at 4pm? I have a shift till 3.30 so I could go there and meet you. We can plan everything else out later :3
If you’re already taken, that's alright! You can ignore this message. But do what you will with the information I gave you.
-felix the little leaf barista dude
Your face was in a dark shade of beet red as you looked up timidly and immediately locked eyes with Felix. You tried not to smile as you looked away and giggled shyly.
On Felix’s side, he had been staring at you ever since you took your order. When the two of you met eyes, his entire body froze, and he stopped what he was doing, dropping his half-washed cup into the sink.
“Dude, what are you doing, I- “ Bang Chan, his senior colleague and friend, followed Felix’s line of sight to you and chuckled slyly.
“In my opinion, the color of their face probably means that they’ll go out with you. Get back to work Lix, or you might not be able to see her later.” He nudged Felix’s side, prompting him to continue working. Felix looked up at Bang Chan in confusion and continued his work, still glancing at you occasionally.
Tumblr media
“Yes.”
“I’m sorry. How can I help yo-oh. Oh.” Felix looked up at you smiling, still blessed with a tinge of pink across your cheeks.
“I should’ve given more context. Yes, I’ll go out with you tonight!” You didn’t know where you received this newfound confidence, but you were going to use all of it.
“Oh, really? That’s great! I’ll meet you there then. Be careful, okay? Can’t have you getting hurt before we have our first date.”
Once again you had melted into a puddle of nervousness. Unable to voice out anything, you nodded your head multiple times and ran out the cafĂŠ. Your hands were cold from the chilly season, but your heart was warm from the cute barista.
Tumblr media
It was ten past four. You were sitting under the shade of 31st Bus Stop, fidgeting with the hem of your waistband and looking around, by yourself.
You weren’t losing hope, you were sure Felix was on his way right now. He would never stand you up, right?
Right?
Regardless, you sat on the uncomfortable metal bench in freezing weather, and you were about to text him, when…
You realized you didn’t have his phone number.
You weren’t going to go home, however. Determined Y/N was planning to wait for as long as it would take. You trusted Felix.
Tumblr media
Forty minutes now. You had been playing some mobile games, looking out at the bustling street in front of you. During the winter season, the sun set earlier, so it was already dark and it definitely wasn’t safe for you to be alone. However, you were determined that Felix would arrive soon.
Five more minutes was what you told yourself as you stared out into the empty road, now barren of cars as the rush hour was over.
Tumblr media
“Lee Yongbok, where do you think you’re going?”
Felix cursed under his breath and turned to Mr. Park with a small smile. “I’m done with my shift boss, I’ll get going now.”
“Felix, it's peak season right now. If you don’t remember what I told you guys during the brief meeting, I’ll say it again. From the 12th of December to the 25th of December, all of you have your shifts extended for two hours due to the influx of customers during the Christmas season. Is that so hard to understand?” Mr. Park crossed his arms and squinted at Felix.
“Mr. Park, I’ve understood that rule. I did my two-hour extension, now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be going now. I have somewhere to be.” Felix tried opening the door and walking out but was pulled back by a stronger arm grabbing his.
“Nuh-uh, young man. I’m sure that whatever event you have today isn’t going to be as important as the wellbeing of Little Leaf. Now if you’ll excuse me, do get your apron and hat back on and go back to manning the counter.” Mr. Park mocked.
Felix sighed and tried one last time at changing the mind of his horrible boss. “But Mr. Park, I swear, I did my two-hour extension, you can check the roster if you-”
“Get back to work, boy. Unless you want to start a new job in 2021.”
Felix sighed and threw his bag down, walking to the staff room to retie his apron.
Later, when Mr. Park checked the roster, he would find out that Felix did do his two-hour extension, and that he never lied.
Tumblr media
An hour and a half, that was how long you waited. No one would ever wait for that long. No one would ever stay alone at late hours of the day, waiting for someone who probably wouldn’t even show up.
Tears stung your eyes as you sighed and stood up, huffing and smoothening your outfit out. You thought that Felix had probably stood you up. It was probably a dare, maybe he had been dared to write a generic love serviette to some desperate person who fell for his charming looks. Even then you couldn’t help but think of Felix, and tears streamed down your face as you trudged back home.
“Y/N! Y/N, wait up! Y/N, don’t leave, hear me out.” The voice you had been waiting for finally could be heard.
You stopped in your tracks and turned around to face a panting Felix. His hair was disheveled, apron still on, and his jacket was worn the wrong way round. What an entrance to a first date.
“Y/N, I’m sorry. Mr. Park honestly...he kept me for an hour more, before I convinced him to let me leave. I don’t know why, I’m so sorry. I honestly didn’t think you would be here, no one would stay that long. Please, give me another chance?” Felix took a few steps closer to you but maintained his distance. His eyes scanned yours for any response.
“I’m- I mean, it's not your fault...but you made me wait for so long. I just, I don’t know what to say. I thought you stood me up.” Your eyes watered once again.
Felix immediately waved his hands in denial and took one more step closer to you. “No, no, Y/N. I would never. I’m sorry if you thought I would ever stand you up. I should have made my way here over faster, if only I gave you my phone number. I’m so sorry-”
Your eyes suddenly widened, and you looked up. White, shimmering, pieces of ice fell upon the both of you. You stared at him in awe, mouth open wide.
It hadn’t snowed in Seoul for a long, long time. Maybe this moment was special.
Felix smiled back at you. Amidst the white rain, he took a few steps closer to you until the both of you were so close that you could...kiss.
“Y/N. I apologize. I’m sorry for being a horrible first date. Will you forgive me?” His dark chocolate orbs glanced into yours, dragging you into a new universe.
“Yes. I’ll forgive you.” You whispered, looking at the ground.
His eyes scanned yours for any sort of consolation. He didn’t even need to ask anymore. “Y/N, can I kiss you?” He quietly asked, using his pointer finger to tilt your chin upwards.
As you nodded, he leaned in and placed his lips on yours, as the both of you stood amidst the snow. You wrapped your arms around his neck and he put his around your waist and the both of you deepened the kiss.
Two lone beings, coming together as one, in the midst of a snow-struck city.

“Where is he?”
Steve looked up from his breakfast and pointed to the open door of the fridge. Tony was rummaging through it while mumbling to himself, but perking up at the sound of your voice. He had a strawberry in his mouth, there he goes snacking again. Food never seems to last in the tower.
You held up the tray and Tony's face lit up. He wanted you to do his morning Starbucks run. Even if the tower had plenty of coffee and tea options, he needed his pumpkin spice latte and he wanted it done right. You never thought Tony would be that type of person, to like sugary and basic white bitch drinks, but he is apparently.
“I’m not Pepper.” You said blankly, eyeing the man as he approached to claim his drink. “Why did I have to go and get your coffee?”
“Because you’re the one who messed up on the last mission, (Y/N).” Tony answered with an fake innocent smile.
“I tripped!” You gasped in defense, really you tripped. It was an accident but it made a domino effect and you almost costed everyone the mission. The guys in the tower were not going to let you forget anytime soon, it was too embarrassing. And you were thankful Sam didn't have a camera because that would be the worst.
“You just need to have your pumpkin spice latte.” Steve laughed, shaking his head.
“Get in the fall spirit, Rogers.” Tony said, taking one of the cups from the tray greedily.
“I can only imagine what he’ll do on Halloween…” You mumbled under your breath. The over the top decorations and his making everyone play along with his enthusiasm...Oh no what about Christmas...you didn’t even want to think about Christmas.
Before you knew it Tony left with his coffee, not even thanking you for going out in the cold to get it. Something wanted you to go follow him and shove the other three steaming hot cups down the front of his shirt, but you refrained since you wanted one of them for yourself.
Instead you bottled up your frustrations and you took one for yourself and gave one to Steve. Tony paid for it so it doesn't matter, free coffee for you then!
While taking a sip of your own delicious latte, you heard heavy footsteps enter the room. Soon Bucky groaned and dragged himself into the kitchen.
“Morning Bucky.” You said, taken aback by his sudden appearance. He simply nodded in response, he was not a morning person. It seemed that your heart jumped to your throat every time he acknowledged your existence, and you’ll take a simple nod as one.
“Come on Buck, wake up. We got training to do.” Steve announced, cleaning up his dishes.
“Yeah yeah I know. God, you’re so loud.” Bucky looked like he could use a few more hours of sleep, or a few gallons of coffee. He slowly made his way to the pantry and stumbled dug for the breakfast bars, a quick breakfast before training.
"Hey Bucky, you want one?" You offered him one of the coffee cups, knowing it was a dangerous game you were playing by speaking to him this early in the morning. But thankfully he didn't chop your head off, he merely turned around to see what you had offered.
"What is it?" He asked, staring at the cup with a blank face.
"Pumpkin spice latte."
Bucky looked skeptical, but took it and raised it to his lips to take a sip. The sugar hit him before the caffeine.
"It's sweet."
"See its not that bad." Steve chimed in, drinking his own latte.
"The future is weird..." He mumbled, sending a slightly amused-looking smile in your direction. You didn't know if you wanted to scream or run to your room and hide.
"Technically its the present." Steve tried to be smart.
"Shut up." Bucky started to walk out of the room, still slightly groggy (the caffeine would kick in soon though) but he looked back. “That scarf looks good on you.”
You glanced down at it, fleece and yellow plaid. You grew shy and scratched the back of your head. “Thanks.” You realized it came out as a mere squeak.
He smiled and left after muttering "Thank you, (Y/N)", probably to get ready for training. Deep down you didn't want to see him go, and you heart pounded when he said your name.
"Weird."
"Hm?" You turned to Steve.
"He usually hates mornings, he looked happy."
It just dawned on you. Everyone feared bothering Bucky when it was too early, and on a normal day he would go into full Winter Soldier mode when anyone dared to step across the line of 'I'm too tired to be alive right now and I'll murder you and burn your body if you get in my face'. Maybe it was the latte you gave him, to your knowledge Bucky didn't drink coffee much.
Then you realized something...
Oh Shit.
"Oh no," You knew Steve would scold you, so you changed your wording in your head before it came out of your mouth.
"What?"
"I gave Bucky the one with the espresso shot..."
The Captain chuckled and patted your shoulder, "Its fine, he needs it."
You slightly laughed, if it made him a little less of a morning grump then why not.
"Don't worry, it probably will not turn out as bad as that one time when Pietro had just regular coffee." Steve remembered.
So many things in the Tower were broken that day, Tony was furious. There was plenty of yelling, and the speedster almost passed out from the overdrive. From that day forwards, Pietro was never allowed to have coffee ever again.
"But I kinda needed that espresso shot..." You groaned.
"Calm down, you'll live." He said it so simply you almost wanted to knock him upside the head. Then he mumbled something; "Also I don't think the coffee was the reason he was happy-"
"What?"
He ignored you.
"Well I'm gonna head to the training room, see ya kid." Cap left the kitchen, leaving you with your latte (that sadly wasn't strong enough to kill your exhaustion) and you finally could have your breakfast. Because someone didn't let you do anything until you fetched their morning coffee (Tony "Im Iron Man and Im Superior To You" Stark).
~~~
"Who gave Bucky caffeine?" Sam announced to everyone in the training room while eyeing the man, who was now finishing his latte.
"You're just a sore loser." Bucky placed the empty cup back on the table and was ready to spar with his friendly rival again. Bugging Sam was his favorite past time.
"No really, who thought that would be a good idea?" Sam didn't drop it.
The glass doors to the training room opened and you walked in, holding your tablet and flipping through the new file you just received from SHEILD headquarters. Before you could open your mouth to say anything, you were abruptly interrupted.
"It was her." Cap threw you under the bus.
"What did I do?" You whined.
And the next few seconds was a quick-fire dispute, remarks shot through the air like bullets.
"You gave Bucky coffee." Sam pointed at you.
"So?" You asked.
"That's a bad idea." Sam snapped.
"Sore loser~" Bucky sang.
"Shut up." Sam shot.
"You are a sore loser Sam" You mocked.
"Shut it!" Sam warned.
"Sooorrrreee loooser!" Bucky stretched out.
"QUIET!" Sam barked.
"I need another." Bucky sighed.
"You are not having another." Sam snapped.
"(Y/N), can I have another?"
"Bad idea" You admitted.
"Enough!" Natasha raised her voice and the arguing stopped suddenly. "God, you three are like nagging seagulls. You don't shut up."
"Sam's the seagull." Bucky made one last snarky remark, making you snort while you tried to hold in your laughter.
Before Sam could attack again, you finally spoke up. "Just got a new mission file from Fury. He says it's urgent."
Steve, Bucky, Sam, Nat, and Clint (who had been enjoying the argument quietly) all gathered around you. You projected the file into a hologram and blew it up so everyone could see.
"Security breach at a lab in France." Nat read the notes.
"So? Just a lab," Bucky shrugged, then thought about it, "right?"
You zoomed into the picture on the file, the logo looked strikingly familiar.
"Haven't we been keeping tabs on them?" Clint asked.
"We have." You worked quickly and pulled up a case file SHIELD had been watching carefully. They matched, the lab's company specialized in fusing technology into human anatomy, in the most illegal ways, sketchy black market stuff.
With a few more buttons pressed, you pulled up the live security cameras of the laboratory. There was a black van parked outside. It hit everyone.
"HYDRA." Steve breathed, and everyone knew it was important to leave to France as soon as possible.
"So who's going, Cap?" You asked, and soon everyone was looking at him with anticipation.
He didn't even need to think, he knew who he wanted. "Nat, Clint, Sam, you're with me on this one."
Those selected celebrated, there hadn't been a decent mission in a while. While those who weren't going, meaning you and Bucky, pouted.
"HA!" Sam jabbed a finger in Bucky's face. "You're not going!"
"Don't care!" Bucky shot back, pretending like it was true. It was a lie.
~~~
With some of the Avengers gone on a mission the tower was a little more quiet, probably because it was still early or because Sam and Bucky were separated. Both were very likely. With everyone else asleep, you and Bucky were the only ones up. After the others went on the mission, you decided to look through some more case files to see if you could find anything that could help down the road.
While sitting in the lounge and listening to some music, you tried to stay focused. You tried to stay awake while simultaneously trying to stay warm from the cold weather outside. It was beautiful and sunny, but it was freezing non the less. Snuggling under a blanket had proven to be a solution to only one of your problems,  you were growing drowsy again. If only you had got that extra espresso shot.
Speaking of that espresso shot...
"Hey (Y/N)!"
Jumping from the sudden voice, you looked over and saw Bucky enter the lounge. The couch dipped down as he sat beside you, and he seemed to be full of energy.
"Whatcha working on?"
"Someone's cheerful this morning." You sat up and tilted your head as you spoke.
"I think it was the coffee you gave me." He chuckled.
"Yeah about that..." You started shyly, "I accidentally gave you the one with the extra espresso shot..."
It clicked in his head, "Well that explains it, I guess I couldn't taste it from how sweet it was-" He caught himself, "not that it wasn't good. I liked it. I appreciated it, thanks (Y/N)."
Regardless of his growing awkwardness, which you wanted to explode from because he was too cute, he was speaking a mile a minute.
"You alright, Buck?" You asked, "A little hyper."
"Maybe Sam was right...no more coffee for me." He admitted to himself, looking a bit sad. He must have liked the pumpkin spice latte while it lasted.
”Maybe you need to burn it off.” You suggested.
”Tried to during training, not working, still buzzed.”
“Maybe try going outside, go for a run maybe.”
He gave it a thought, then turned to you with something in his eyes. "What do you say we go for a walk? It's pretty nice outside." Bucky smiled at you.
Forget how cold it was today, going outside to hang out with Bucky was worth it.
"Sure!" You said, maybe sounding a little to enthusiastic.
”Alright, can we go now? If that’s alright?” He said shyly, practically bouncing in his seat.
”Yeah sure, no problem.” You both got up off the couch.
”Okay dress warm, meet you back here.” Bucky dashed off to get his coat. You laughed at how energized he was, and assumed this would be like taking a dog on a walk (or more like a dog taking you on a walk).

Jaehyun x reader // SMUT, Fluff, Angst? Summary: You wanted to get rid of Jaehyun but the man has his way to your heart. Being involved with someone like Jaehyun is the last thing you want right now, but its certainly what you need. Love.  Word Count: 4k Warnings: Mentions of alcohol, older Jaehyun, younger reader, age difference. If you’re uncomfortable, please click away. Explicit mature scenes, rough? sex, Cheating?  Note: In this chapter, there will be no sex but its kinda connected to the following chapters huhu and its kinda long :(( hope you still read it. (there will be following chapters so the genre will change eventually to fluff, angst and smut.) also sorry if there are misplaced words or wrong spelling.  Part 1, Part 2, Part 3
A week passed already after your unforgettable experience with Jaehyun. You told your friends what happened and how he turned out to be older than you and how it made you feel bad because it almost looked like you had sex with your sugar daddy. And to avoid that from happening you left without telling him anything.
School is back and you’re school works are all pilling up. Its a Friday, you’ve been attending classes from morning to evening only having lunch break as your timeout from all the information. While you’re waiting for the school shuttle bus to head back to your dorm, your eyes almost hurt from wearing glasses the whole day.
A pitch black Lamborghini caught your eye and a really handsome man wearing a nice suit and tie leaning beside the nice car. You see him staring at you with a big smile, so big you almost caught butterflies in your tummy. People in line waiting with you, are starting to gossip who he might be and why is he smiling at you.
To hush them, you walked towards the man not because you’ve fallen to his beautiful smile but to ask him to please stop staring at you. And to you’re surprise,it’s Jaehyun. You almost didn’t recognised him because of his hair styled really neat, plus the sharp look seemed like it’s far from his personality.
“How did you find me?” Just like that, you kept your words straightforward.
“Well if you stayed a little bit longer last time, I could’ve at least introduced myself. Jung Jaehyun. Vice President of Jung Group of Companies.” He offered his hand for a shake but you refused, he ended up scratching the back of his head.
People are staring at you and Jaehyun already, and good thing he noticed it.
“can you please get in the car?” He asked politely.
“thought you’d never ask.”
He started to drive away, not sure where he’s taking you. He noticed you’re wearing glasses and that it looks good on you, not entirely sure if you want to talk so he stayed silent. But little did he know, the silence inside the car is making you sweat, and you cant take it anymore.
“What do you want, Mr.”
“I just want to take you home cause you didn’t let me last time”
It surprised you how he casually drive through McDonalds with his beautiful car, not giving a fuck about how cheap McDonalds are. He bought a full meal so you could eat something at home, buying extra burgers so you could eat something while he’s driving.
He didn’t have to, you thought, but the gesture is sweet and you were actually starving already. “Thank you for this” you said while munching some fries, “I was starving already”
You saw his bright smile and those beautiful dimples, while keeping his eyes on the road. When, hes finally out of the main road you taught him the directions going to your dorm and you arrived safely. Again it was silent, the only sound you could hear is your mouth munching the burger. He saw your skirt got up when you were eating, slowly moving his hands trying not to look like a pervert, he fixed your skirt gently covering your thighs.
It made you nervous to be honest, “haha you’ve seen me naked and fucked me good now you’re covering my legs.” You just cant believe you said that “Thank you. I was a little cold actually.”
He’s smiling again, showing his cute dimples that can make your heart melt. “ I was good?” He asked teasing you.
“Whatever, Mr.” you continue eating.
“When can I see you again?” he seemed determined you thought, and it’s starting to annoy you.
“I’m hoping never” You’re being honest, “this was nice. But its wrong at least for me. I have nothing to offer, I’m not rich like you so I’m trying to stop something from happening here.”
“Like what exactly?” He asked, innocently with his calm aura, dimples showing and he looked really handsome in your eyes. You gulp, not wanting to say the words but if this gets him to shut up you’re going to say it.
“Like you being a sugar daddy and me completely falling in love with you” you’re 100% certain he can hear your heart beat louder. He chuckled again, not looking at you but still so determined you almost felt hopeless. When will he shut up?
“No one said something about me being your sugar daddy” you scoffed, “And the last thing is not so bad. I mean I like you a lot already” you almost choke on your burger.
Not letting him get into you, you’re so stern when it comes to refusing. “No. Still no. I have to go” you gather your stuff, “thank you for everything you did tonight. It’s really sweet, okay I give you that” you breath in heavily he almost felt your struggle. “But please, this should be the last time. We really cant”
You wait for him to open the locks, his eyes are sad and you could see right through him.
“Look at you, about to leave me again. And me, letting you go for the second time around.” He moved slow while reaching the lock, but he opens it eventually and you got out of the beautiful car hoping you will never ride it again.
On the following days, you’ve been thinking about him. Learning facts about him and his company not sure why you’re doing this, but maybe it’s because you miss him. You don’t see him wait around the campus and actually, you hope someday he comes back. What you said to him made you guilty for days and it kept you up every night. Wendy said you were a little too harsh on him, she thinks Jaehyun can’t hurt a fly and that she thinks he has genuine feelings towards you. “Age doesn’t matter!” She finally pulled that card, you scoffed handed her coffee. “Yes it does!” You said, not admitting defeat.
It was really exhausting in school lately, all of your professors are giving you a hard time and your major subjects are killing your. All you wanted to do is sleep and rest before you focus on everything that you need to accomplish.
On second thought, you figured you cant do that right now because Jaehyun is waiting for you again beside his black Lamborghini. Not thinking how your day was and you try to set aside everything for him, you were happy to see him for the first time. You sigh and walked towards him, not saying a word as you opened the door of his car, he quickly got in. Not letting him greet you, you told him to drive.
“Don’t take me home just yet” you put your hand on your face and you removed your glasses, “drive somewhere else I’m exhausted”
He took you somewhere quiet, dark and you’re certain that you guys are alone. “Tired?” He asked, breaking the silence. You nod, still not saying a word.
“Im sorry if I showed up again” he removed his seatbelt and hovers beside you, making the car seat comfortable for you so you could lay down. “Thanks” again, thats sweet of him you thought.
“Actually, I was happy to see you” you said nervously. He smiled for the first time tonight, and it made your heart jump.
“You were?” He asked almost in shock. You see his ears turned red again, and that made you laugh. “Your ears are red” you moved up from your comfort and reach for his ears.
“Yeah. That’s what happens when I get flustered” he told you with all his honesty, still smiling wide.
You run your fingers through his nape slowly, trying not to scratch him again like last time. And just like that, you leaned on him and kissed him. Just a peck, not how you used to kiss him back then. It made him flustered more, his ears looked like its going to explode.
“Jaehyun, why me?” very brave of you to asked after kissing him. You leaned back getting comfortable again in your seat.
“Because I feel alive when I’m around you, I know we met through sex but after that, I want to keep you. You were warm, and I felt that when you were tending on my wounds” he reached for your hand, holding it with full sincerity, “you want to be loved. I can say by the way we fucked and I do to. I want someone and I want that someone to be you”
You intertwined your fingers with his, filling the gaps and playing with his hands while enjoying the silence.
“I told you, I have nothing to offer. What you see you, is what you get Jaehyun. But I will try fill in these gaps, for as long as I can” you held is hand, showing him your point. He smiled brightly, his ears turning red again.
“How are we gonna do this without people thinking you’re a sugar daddy” You continue to play with his right hand, “Your car alone gave out sugar daddy vibes when you pick me up from school.”
He hums, playing with your fingers too, “I can fix that”
“Oh and please no Christian Grey stuff, no fifty shades type of situation” he let out a small laugh, he nods, his eyes getting small from giggling.
“What made you change your mind?” He suddenly leans forward to you, it made you nervous again.
“The chance of experiencing love, through you” ssatisfied by your answer, he kissed you gently like he has never done before.
Weeks passed by and youre still exhausted from school. Finishing half of your school works does not lessen your stress, but looking forward to see Jaehyun after class everday makes you happy and that thought alone can get you through the day.
The moment he arrived and you finally get to see him again, you almost faint from laughing so hard but you love what he did just so you could get comfortable around him.
He picks you up with a different car, a car similar to any normal student driver in your school. He’s wearing a plain black shirt, denim pants and clean white shoes.
But the highlight of Jaehyun’s change for today is... his purple hair.
You clapped your hands, telling him you’re impressed with the sudden change and you admire the effort just so no one would suspect that he’s older than you.
“Anything for you, y/n” and kissed your cheek, opening the front seat for you.
You’ve been dating for months now and there’s nothing but happiness everyday. Your relationship with Jaehyun became a normal relationship where sometimes you both fight like crazy, but at the end of the day both of you will compromise. Knowing each other’s likes and dislikes, studying each other’s personality, even the smallest detail is important for the both of you.
Understanding Jaehyun’s line of work was a little heavy for you but he made sure that spending time with you will never clash on his duties as Vice President. In line with that you met his friends Johnny and Yuta, the guys he’s with the night you first met turned out to be his best friends and business partners.
The purple hair did not last long, although you both loved it but you thought it’s not really necessary but it was a good memory and reminder that Jaehyun will do everything just to keep you.
As part of getting to know you more, Jaehyun knew how to make your day better specially when you’re exhausted, he figured out that you like comfortable silence that you like thinking to sort things out on your own. What Jaehyun does is, he holds your hands every time you’re silent, letting you know he’s with you and he’s ready to help when you need him.
Fitting in each other’s worlds was the hardest for the both of you. The age difference was a big factor and sometimes the root of all the fights you’ve had. There was this moment when Mark was fooling around like how he normally does, telling you about something what he wants for his birthday that requires just the two of you in dorm and Jaehyun took it seriously so he punched Mark on the face.
One time when you visited Jaehyun at his office you overheard employees talk about Jaehyun being your sugar daddy and that you’re immature for someone very successful like Jaehyun. Sometimes you hear them talk how Jaehyun’s ex, Rosè was so much better and more beautiful than you. It hurt a lot.
It was never easy for the both of you but you love each other dearly and try to work things out quickly as much as possible. Sex was almost a stranger in your relationship, Jaehyun never asked to have sex with you even though sometimes you think he might need some adult stress reliever and you wanted to offer sex. A hot make out session already satisfies Jaehyun which is very surprising.
Valentines day came in and its his birthday at the same time, he invited you to his all white birthday party that his mother organised. Who are you to say no?
“What do we say when they ask us where did we meet?” You both know the honest answer is not the right thing to say.
“Just tell them, you work from one the companies and I laid eyes on you... the most beautiful girl in the building” he said while kissing your neck up and down careful not to leave a mark.
You giggle and pushed him away, “see you later. And happy birthday. I love you” you kissed him, putting a little bit of tongue and you moaned lightly making him horny. You’ve been teasing him nowadays, trying to make him have sex with you for his birthday.
“You know, we’ve never done it after the night we first met” he bit his lips, “what do you say? Tonight? For the Valentine boy?”
Success. You laughed and kissed him again, “I’ve been waiting for you to ask me to have sex with me you dork” you see Wendy walking towards your dorm, she is going to help you prepare for tonight. You pushed the door open and waved goodbye to Jaehyun. “I’ll pick you up at 7” Jaehyun adds and drove away.
For tonight’s formal gathering, you don’t really want to catch attention but it would be nice if people will start to recognise you as Jaehyun’s girlfriend. Officially. Following the dress code for tonight, all white. A lacy tea length dress that has an off shoulder sleeves, perfectly flashing your assets showing a little bit of cleavage. Wendy did your hair, a messy bun thats actually neat. Finishing with a diamond earring that Jaehyun gave for your birthday. Hoping your nude high heels will not kill your feet tonight, you went out of your dorm Jaehyun waiting for you outside.
If you thought you’d shine tonight, forget it. Your boyfriend looked so good he already outshined you. But kidding aside, Jaehyun looked ethereal tonight wearing his gray customised suit made by Dior. He’s the only one wearing something with color tonight.
He was staring down at you long and hard, not smiling and you wonder why.
“I think maybe, I shouldn’t take you to the party” Jaehyun said making you nervous.
“I think I might take you straight to the hotel room” you can finally breath, knowing he’s just playing with you. “I dont want anyone looking at my girl” reaching for your hand, Jaehyun kisses it softly and opens the door.
“Let’s just survive this night together and I’m all yours” he said before driving.
Upon arriving at the venue, Jaehyun’s mother welcomed him and greets him a happy birthday. His father standing next giving him a tight hug.
Jaehyun never forgets you, he held your hand the entire time keeping you close and he constantly ask if you’re okay. “Im perfectly fine Jae, don’t worry” you made sure he never ask you again.
During the party, you saw Johnny, Taeyong and Yuta one of Jaehyun’s closest friends, you greet them and they were happy to see you.
“You look beautiful” Yuta whispers behind you, making you laugh and nervous at the same time. You both know he had always laid eyes on you from the moment you two first met at the bar, the night when you first met Jaehyun too.
Jaehyun always saw any man lingering around you, as a threat. For him, anyone can steal you away from him and let’s not forget what happened to Mark after Jaehyun knew he was hitting on you in school. But Yuta was a different story, Yuta is an actual threat because Jaehyun knew how Yuta works to steal someone. The moment Yuta tries to make a move he cant just punch him in the face like what he did to Mark. Jaehyun’s family and Yuta’s family worked hand in hand in the world of business for decades already, so punching Yuta in the face is definitely not worth it.
When he saw Yuta talking to you, he steals you away from Yuta telling him, “Sorry. I need her to meet some of the family from England.” You thank Jaehyun for saving you from Yuta, he told you he can see right through him thats why.
“Auntie Elizabeth, I’d like you to meet y/n, my girlfriend” Jaehyun introduces you to a whole table full of English people. Feeling so out of place, you try to be quiet and eat your food slowly to keep yourself busy.
“So y/n what do you do in life?” Auntie Petunia blurted out of nowhere. She’s the one Jaehyun warned you about, the meanest among all of his family.
When you were just about to answer her question, you were surprised how she knew almost every important detail. “We all know you’re still a student, a college delay an irregular student of... oh where does she go again? Anyway. Im surprised when Jaehyun and Rosè broke up. I heard you were devastated, my dear Jaehyun”
Jaehyun tries to smile nicely, and just nods. He reached for your hand under the table, calming your trembling hand.
Aunt Petunia sips on her wine, you wanted her to continue talking. “Johnny told us that you were so devastated, you guys went out to a bar and got wasted! Haha!” everyone in the table laughed even though theres nothing funny about what she says.
You down a glass of water, trying to digest everything she says in front of you and Jaehyun’s family. You didn’t know that Rosè was the reason why Jaehyun was at the bar with Johnny and Yuta that night. Auntie Petunia also told everyone that Rosè was in New York now, being successful in the fashion industry. She flex about Rosè as if she’s the mother.
You put up with every person Jaehyun wanted you to meet tonight, listen to auntie Petunia talk about how Jaehyun and Rosè were a perfect couple. You try so hard to be invisible for the rest of the night not wanting to meet another person who will think lowly of you.
Drinking alone by the bar, you down 5 shots of tequila already making yourself numb enough not to care about the party. You find Yuta beside you handling you more shots to drink with him. He asked for a toast, not saying a word, as if he could feel what you feel right now. You’re almost thankful he’s here.
“It will pass” he said after sucking some lime. “Everything is overwhelming but it’s just for one night. Jaehyun’s family is always like this, you should prepare yourself for the future if you’re going to marry him someday” he downed another shot, not taking a lime this time.
You watch him down 2 more shots. He looked beautiful you thought. Long silver hair, tied in a pony tail with a couple of braids, his ear piercings catching too much attention, long slender fingers with silver rings.
“You know I never thought you’d look so handsome wearing something formal but still the rockstar look is present” you said bravely, hoping he doesn’t take it as flirting with him.
He scoffs and he got closer to you, putting his hand around your waist, you can feel his hot breath over your exposed shoulders.
“And I never thought I’d be so attracted to you y/n” he said with a low voice, almost a whisper, too careful so anyone would not hear him. “leave Jaehyun and have a normal relationship with me” he bravely added as if Jaehyun was not his friend.
“You’re drunk” you said not moving an inch from him. “And you’re world is not different from Jaehyun. You live in a fancy world too, Mr.”
“Unlike Jaehyun I’m not involved with business, yet. Also” he grabs your chin and he made you look at him, “I’m way younger than him” You breathed deeply hoping its just the alcohol that’s talking, hoping you could push him away but his warm presence saves you from this place.   “Y/n, baby?” Jaehyun’s voice made you come back to reality and Yuta excused himself leaving you to Jaehyun. “I’ve been looking all over for you baby” he said caressing your back.
“Sorry. We were just talking about how the tequila tastes good without the lime” you lied to Jaehyun and you can’t believe you did that.
When it’s almost time to go home, Jaehyun knew you were hurt and overwhelmed about all thats happened tonight. “Almost done babe” he said as a form of comfort. Remembering what he said earlier, survive together. But It feels like you’re already dead and hopeless from the moment you stepped out of the car.
Jaehyun was busy saying his goodbyes to his family and friends, Yuta was staring at you with his cold sharp eyes before you get in Jaehyun’s car. The drive to the hotel was painfully silent. He thought it’s the comfortable silence that you loved so he grabbed your hand hoping he could help you out as he always does, but this time you dodge his hand for the first time.
You silently removed the pins from your hair, removing the diamond earring, trying to massage your foot. He knew that you’re far from being okay.
“You told me theres nothing wrong” he used that tone that’s not so caring of him, you hated that tone with all your gut. “You’re acting like a child” and that was the cherry on top of this perfect night you thought.
You scoffed, “Am I not?”
“No. You’re a grown woman who knows right from wrong” Jaehyun tries to stop himself from getting mad.
“And you’re a much grown man who should know better. Better than choosing a much younger girl to be your girlfriend” you spit out not looking at him. The drive was quiet on your way to the hotel and neither one of you wanted to get out of the car.
You’re already freezing and you can’t take it anymore. Wearing your high heels again you left you birthday gift on the dashboard, ready to leave the moment you see a cab waiting in front of the hotel.
“So much for surviving the night together Jaehyun. Im sorry I ruined your day” and you opened the door leaving him and getting inside a cab before he tries to stop you.
Jaehyun realised that’s where he went wrong, he dragged you in his life and he knew he’s responsible no matter what happens. He didn’t mentioned that he saw Yuta flirting with you and taking his chance while he is busy with his guests. Jaehyun knew its his fault that you’re overwhelmed with everything tonight. Not to mention some of his family were completely rude to you plus meeting the whole family all at once, Auntie Petunia’s stories about Rosè, and the fight during the drive.
He didn’t even get the chance to bring out his gift and give you flowers for Valentines. Days have passed after the fight and Jaehyun didn’t even bother to talk to you. Maybe he’s busy with meetings, talking to his fellow CEOs or what not. Your anger was long gone but you just want him to show that he still cares for you and this relationship.
You just finished having a hot shower and you were drying your hair when you received an message from Jaehyun.
Jaehyun: Hi princess, are you free tonight?
You: Yes.
Jaehyun: I’ll pick you up in 10 minutes. ----------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for reading if youre at this point! Comments, and reactions are welcome! I will love you if you talk to me. Part 3 will be posted soon, maybe later tonight. hihi Thanks again! TALK TO ME :)

Summary: (Y/n) is a good girl from a church-going family and her brother, Joe is trying to put Ben behind bars. But when (Y/n) starts to fall for the dangerous killer, things get complicated.
Enjoy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
"(Y/n) what are you doing in there? Come on, I have to get ready for work." Cora's rather scratchy and naturally high-toned voice cut through the static buzzing in (Y/n)'s ears like a bee trapped inside her head. The more she tried to focus on Cora's irritating voice and the sounds she could hear, she realised she could hear her sister's foot impatiently tapping against the floor outside the bathroom. And Cora's shadow could just about be seen through the small gap between the door and the carpet.
(Y/n) wished her sister would go away. It was hard enough being in the bathroom for any reason when you knew someone was waiting right outside the door silently telling you to hurry up. But with Cora right there it made being sick a lot harder for (Y/n) because she couldn't smother the wretching sounds she made when she threw up.
If her sister heard her being sick she wouldn't be all that sympathetic but she would be annoyed and tell their parents and (Y/n) didn't need that. She didn't need anyone suspecting something was wrong or that she was ill because her mother had already commented on how tired and pale she seemed for the past few days.
Tipping her head down, (Y/n) rested her face against the rim of the toilet that was soothingly cold against her burning hot skin. She knew if she wasn't careful she could fall asleep right here like this but she had to get up.
Today was a big day.
Today (Y/n) and Ben were going for their twelve week scan- to their first scan, and the thought already made (Y/n)'s stomach churn in the wrong way.
She wanted to go to the scan, (Y/n) was desperate to see their baby on the screen to prove to herself that this was real and this was happening, but the thought wasn't settling as well in her head as it was in her heart. She knew that this scan was only going to cement things and prove that she was going to have to tell her family about Ben very soon. She couldn't keep him her secret for much longer and that hurt, for almost half a year Ben had been her little secret, he had been hers and only hers.
Now with the baby, (Y/n) was going to have to come clean that she had a boyfriend- no, a fiance now and she was pregnant and that was something no one in her family was going to take very well.
Her parents would throw a fit, Cora wouldn't he pleased that she wasn't going to be the first one to get married or have kids and Joe wouldn't be happy and when he knew it was Ben he was going to hit the roof.
Just the thought of Joe's reaction made (Y/n) sit up on her knees straighter and lean over the toilet as the last drop of water she had consumed was released into the toilet as quietly as she could manage. Eating was becoming a rather big struggle right now due to morning sickness but (Y/n) was beginning to scare herself because she realised the more she panicked, the more she threw up and the less she ate. Her anxiety was worsening her morning sickness and when she was at home and sometimes even when she was with Ben, she couldn't stop herself from worrying.
When she was at home she feared someone was going to find out about Ben or the baby and when she was with Ben she couldn't stop herself from thinking about having to tell her family the truth.
"(Y/n) I'm going to be late!"
Cora's loud voice made (Y/n) shudder and seemed to kick-start her brain into action.
With a deep breath, (Y/n) used the toilet as leverage to push herself onto shaking legs and move over to cling to the sink by the door. She swirled some mouthwash and spat into the sink a few times, splashing her face with water before trying to look calm and collected. The moment she unlocked the door Cora was eyeing her suspiciously as she hurried into the bathroom before (Y/n) had chance to step out.
"S-sorry, what time is it?"
"Quarter past ten and I have to be at work at quarter-to." Cora gave her sister one last concerned yet irritated look before she shut the door to signal that she had wasted enough time already.
A shiver ran down (Y/n)'s spine when she realised that she had been sat on the bathroom floor for a good half an hour throwing up when she thought it had been fifteen minutes at the most. She had to go and meet Ben near the church and head down to the hospital because their appointment was at eleven.
(Y/n) made her way downstairs and almost stumbled down the hall to get to the kitchen at the back of the house. Once there, she grabbed herself a bottle of juice out the fridge that she had bought yesterday and took an apple from the counter that she would put in her bag in case her appetite came back later. She had to get going, there was no time for breakfast, not that she would have even bothered trying to eat any anyway with how unsettled her stomach felt right now.
"Where are you going, you haven't had breakfast?" Linda's voice caused (Y/n) to stop in her tracks just as she walked out of the kitchen and into the hallway.
Her head slowly turned to the right to look at her mother who was stood in the doorway to the dining room with her hands on her hips and a confused yet annoyed expression on her face that usually made (Y/n) cave in and listen to whatever she said. But not today. (Y/n) was busy, anxious and uneasy, she had to go and be with Ben to try and calm down and get on with the day.
After the scan she and Ben were heading over to the club for work and (Y/n) was at work until seven tonight which would thankfully keep her mind from everything. As soon as the scan was over and they were at work (Y/n) would feel calm, the club was oddly calming to (Y/n), it was more of a sanctuary than the church was. The club didn't make her question her thoughts or beliefs or give her questions no one could answer. The club was where Ben was, it was where she was happy to work and do work that was important and fulfilling and around people she was slowly feeling at ease around and able to call friends, even if she was the only girl there.
She wanted to be away from home.
"I'm gonna be late for work, I have to go catch the bus." (Y/n)'s lips curved into a sorry smile before she continued down the hall to stuff her phone, drink and the apple into her bag and put on her shoes. She really didn't have the time to stop and chat even if she wanted to, she wasn't really lying to her parents this time.
"(Y/n) we're going to have to have a talk about this, you're disappearing almost every day and not just for work and most days you're not coming home all night. This can't continue."
It was her father's voice this time that brought her to a standstill just as her hand was reaching out for the front door. Her body froze and her head slowly turned so she could look back over her shoulder when her father bypassed Linda and walked down the hall to get to (Y/n). She was surprised it had taken them this long to get fed up with how little time she was now spending at home and how she was always out, especially at night. She thought they would have tried to ground her or force her to stay home a lot sooner than this.
"I finish work at seven, I'll be home tonight." (Y/n) gave them no more time to quarrel with her before she flung herself out the door and tried to walk steadily down the street. Her head felt like it was pounding and it took her a few moments before she was walking properly and steadily rather than wobbling on uncoordinated feet.
When (Y/n) reached the path in front of the church her hand reached out and curled around the metal gate protecting the religious beacon. she used the gate to steady herself and stay upright but the further she walked and the more she kept glancing to look over at the church on her left, the more she could feel herself breaking.
Why would God make her life and her relationship with her family so strained when everyone in her family believed in him and were his followers? Her father had devoted his life to the church and to God and this was how he repaid him? By making him and his wife so strict in bringing up their children and by making (Y/n)'s happiness conflict the interests and values of her family.
The longer (Y/n) was with Ben, the more she realised how unfair her religion was making her life and the lives of others. It was like Ben was washing away her faith and she didn't know if that was really a bad thing or not when Ben made her happy but it was her religion that didn't allow it.
A shuddering breath escaped (Y/n)'s lips as she slowly lowered herself down to her knees and manoeuvred so she was sitting on the pavement, leaning up against the gates. She didn't care if she was still within sight of her home or her neighbours or if anyone could see her and wondered what she was doing. She just needed a moment to gather herself. (Y/n) leaned her head down to press her face in her hands as she brought her knees up to her stomach, feeling each breath she took pushing through her fingers in an oddly soothing kind of way, even though her hands were beginning to shake.
Confusion and slight worry pooled in Ben's stomach when his eyes set on (Y/n) and he watched her stop walking and slowly move to sit down on the floor next to the church gates. It was as if she was trying to walk past the church and not go inside but it was calling out to her.
Ben stuffed his lime green lighter into his coat pocket and placed the newly lit cigarette between his lips before he walked away from the car he was leaning against and headed down the street to where (Y/n) was. He didn't know what she was doing, she could be just gathering herself and having a moment to think, she could be upset and unsure of what to do, she could be ill or she could just be having some kind of quarrel with her faith. Whatever it was, Ben wanted to go and make sure she was okay.
When he reached her, Ben crouched down in front of her, leaning his weight onto the toes of his shoes as he flicked some ash off his cigarette before placing it carefully behind his ear so it was out the way. He didn't want it in his mouth or between his fingers in case he got too close to (Y/n) and caught her with it.
"Baby, what are we doing down here?" Ben gently rested his hands on (Y/n)'s elbows as he spoke but it was clear his voice and his words didn't register or link to his hands because (Y/n)'s head snapped up out of her hands and her arms flailed about. Her hand came close to hitting him before she realised who it was holding onto her, she hadn't been expecting Ben or anybody else to approach her.
(Y/n) closed her eyes for a second, moving her hand to rub at her temple before she moved her hands to hold onto Ben's arms as a small smile formed on her lips.
"Everything okay?" The way Ben grinned at her made her heart beat faster in her chest and send butterflies running through her system which made her feel much better than she did seconds ago.
"Just needed a minute, I'm good now."
(Y/n)'s head automatically tilted to the side like she was trying to get a better angle of Ben as she watched him with intrigue and anticipation. Something about the way Ben smoked always caught (Y/n)'s attention and she wasn't quite sure why. There was something different and attractive about the way he held his cigarettes and how he bit them so he could speak perfectly around them without any slurred speech.
She watched Ben take the cigarette from behind his ear where it really shouldn't be when it was already lit. He flicked the ash onto the floor before pressing the end between his lips and biting it with his teeth to make sure it didn't fall. His blushing vermilion lips grinned in a darkening look that always came off as predatory but never seemed to scare (Y/n). The cigarette tilted up towards his nose when he parted his lips to breathe out the swirl of grey smoke at the same time as he held his hands out for (Y/n) to take.
When her palms were resting safely in his own, Ben stood up and gently pulled (Y/n) up with him. He kept her hand enveloped in his own as they slowly started walking towards the car.
(Y/n) leaned her head on Ben's arm, absentmindedly smiling when the coarse material of his overcoat prickled against her skin. The coat was one (Y/n) was now used to seeing Ben wearing in the cold weather and it was one she loved to see on him. It was a rough fibre material that went down to about his knees and had five buttons down the front to do up and the collar could be pulled up and just barely covered part of his ears. The coat set off Ben's on-edge look and the unsettled, dark character he oozed but it was a look that (Y/n) loved.
When they reached the car, Ben stubbed the cigarette beneath his shoe and the edge of the pavement before he turned to (Y/n).
"Are you ready?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Closing the red book set on the desk in front of her, (Y/n) tipped her head back and closed her eyes to try and relieve the headache forming behind her eyes. She was on finance books today, making sure all the money was accurate and no unwanted or unreasonable spendings had taken place. (Y/n) liked doing the books, it made her feel important and it was time consuming and detailed and she could also do the wages too because everyone was cash in hand here.
But the headache behind her eyes was making it harder and harder to read the books properly without mistaking the letters and numbers. It was almost seven o'clock anyway so it was almost time to go home. The club shut for business at seven and only a few workers hung back if they had the rather dodgy business they had to sort out.
With a sigh, (Y/n) opened her eyes and glanced over to the clock on the wall, feeling her heart picking up speed when she realised she would be at home in less than half an hour. She didn't want to go home. (Y/n) didn't want to go and argue with her parents about how little time she was at home recently and she didn't want to go home and have to worry about them finding out about the baby or how she was eventually going to tell them.
As the worries started floating around in her head, (Y/n) looked down to the ring settled on the wedding ring finger. Ben had gotten her an engagement ring on Thursday that was a perfect fit and it was weird for (Y/n) to have a ring that she wore all the time now when she never used to. She wore the ring to work, at home, she slept in it and showered with it on and it felt amazing.
Every time she looked at the ring it made her feel different, it made her feel grown up and her own person and it made her giddy because she was going to be married soon. The only problem was that when (Y/n) did go home, she had to move the ring from her left hand to her right hand so no one caught it and her lies would be exposed.
Looking at the ring made (Y/n)'s hand move down to hover lightly over her stomach that was unchanged except for the slightest curve right at the bottom of her abdomen and it was unnoticeable except to her scrutinising eyes. They went to their scan this morning and it had gone well, no problems, nothing indicating that there was any worries or anomalies, the baby was perfectly fine and healthy and hearing the heartbeat made this now feel real for (Y/n).
(Y/n) was relieved she wasn't showing yet even though she knew once she got a bump everything would feel real and set in stone. Right now it was easy to hide the pregnancy and that was how (Y/n) needed it to stay, just for a little while longer.
"Are you almost ready to go home, doll?" Ben's words broke (Y/n) out of her trance and she looked up to find him leaning over her with his hands on the desk, a smile on his face as he watched her become unstuck from her thoughts.
When (Y/n) hummed and nodded, Ben took the finance books and the few notes she'd made and moved to put them in the cabinet before locking it safely. (Y/n) took Ben's hand when he walked back over to her and she followed him out of the office and down the corridor, the car park was round the back so they always came in and left through the back door.
(Y/n) could feel her headache becoming worse when they got in the car and she knew she was that much closer to going home. But she had to talk to her parents, she had to try and keep the peace with them for a little while longer and she couldn't stay with Ben every night and not tell her parents where she was and worry them like this. But she also knew that sooner or later they were going to have to be told the truth and if she married Ben, the chances were that she was going to move in with him too.
She leaned her head against the window and tried closing her eyes to see if it would help but it wasn't doing very much.
Even when Ben reached across and took her hand when they were on the road, it only helped so much because (Y/n) knew the moment she got out of the car, Ben's touch would be gone and she would be put back into a state of anxiety and stress. She knew that her uneasy feeling was made worse by how little she had eaten today. She'd managed to eat the apple she took with her after the scan and she had half a sandwich for lunch at one o'clock but that was it, anything else she thought or tried to eat made her feel sick.
"Doll, are you okay? You don't look like your with me tonight." Ben turned his head to sneak a glance over at (Y/n) but she looked like she was so far away in her mind that he could barely see her anymore. She was looking out of the window like he was taking her somewhere she didn't want to go like he was driving her to prison and she was quiet too.
"I'm fine, just thinking... I don't want to have to tell my parents about the baby." (Y/n) tangled one hand in her hair as her other hand moved to smooth over her unchanged stomach. She was not looking forward to that conversation when it eventually came about, it was the one thing that scared her more than anything else.
"I'd love to say you don't have to tell them but I think that would be worse. Will they really be mad about it, they won't be the least bit happy at getting a grand-kid?"
Ben knew from what (Y/n) had said that her getting pregnant wasn't going to go down well with her parents and he could see why. She was only just nineteen and she wasn't married yet, they saw her as a little girl and Ben was a bit older than her. It wasn't ideal for them or their morals but Ben would have thought they might be a little bit easier on (Y/n) because she was happy and they would be having their first grandchild.
When (Y/n) scoffed lightly at his words Ben turned his head to look at her, seeing her lips curved into a sad and rather upset kind of smile.
"My parents were married a year before having Joe and we'll be lucky if no one notices I'm pregnant when we get married, that's like breaking a law to them. My dad had high hopes for me, you know? He wanted me to help out at church and have his level of faith and get a respectable job and husband."
"What, I'm not respectable enough for you?"
(Y/n) was thankful Ben was only joking because she wouldn't have known what to say to that. (Y/n) knew her words made her sound snobbish and crude and uncaring but that wasn't what she meant. Her parents had high hopes and (Y/n)'s happiness didn't come into that because what made her happy wouldn't make them happy.
"Marrying a criminal when my brother's an officer isn't going to sit well with them. Sometimes I wish they weren't my family..."
It was hard for (Y/n) to think like that or to say that but it couldn't be helped. When her family didn't value her happiness like they should and when her life had never truly been her own until Ben walked into it, (Y/n) had the right to feel resentful towards them. If Joe wasn't a police officer, if her father wasn't the reverend and if her mother wasn't so snobbish and high achieving and controlling then maybe (Y/n)'s choices and happiness would count for more and they would be more understanding.
(Y/n) didn't want to tell them about Ben or the baby, she wanted to continue sneaking around because it was so much easier than becoming severed from her family like a lost connection. She was never going to be fully accepted back into her family's arms when they found out and Ben was the closest person to her in her family and he was going to become the most distant when he found out how she had betrayed him.
Joe was going to hate her for this.
(Y/n) didn't realise tears were falling from her eyes until they started to blur her vision and she could feel her hands subtally trembling.
"C-can you pull over?" Her hand moved from being knotted in her hair to pressing over her mouth when she felt like she was going to be sick. The nerves in her stomach were becoming tangled up from the worries in her head and the car was making it worse. When (Y/n) glanced out the window and saw she was less than five minutes from home she could feel the bile rising in the back of her throat.
"What? We're nearly at the church I'll drop you there like always." Ben turned his head to look at her, wondering why she wanted him to stop here when he could just take her to the usual spot he dropped her off at.
"I f-feel sick."
Realisation dawned on Ben and he nodded but he didn't even turn off the engine before (Y/n) was out of the car, hunched over the grass on the other side of the pavement. Ben quickly hopped out of the car and headed over to (Y/n), frowning when he watched her throw up onto the grass but his eyes narrowed when he realised she wasn't really being sick, she was throwing up whatever drink she had had earlier which meant she most likely hadn't eaten for quite a while.
"Doll, when was the last time you ate something today?" There was a certain tone and edge to Ben's voice that contrasted to his actions when his left hand was resting gently on (Y/n)'s back and his other hand held out a piece of gum for her to take.
When she felt like she'd finished, (Y/n) slowly straightened up, keeping her arms wrapped around her churning stomach as she turned her head to look up at Ben who was looking down at her with raised brows and darkened eyes.
"I had that apple a-and... about three bites of a sandwich later on." (Y/n) rubbed at her tired eyes as she looked away from Ben. She couldn't lie to him, it wouldn't do any good and he could tell when anyone was lying to him and when people lied he didn't take it very well. (Y/n) felt his hand tensing against her back and the sigh that passed through his lips was almost a growl and it made her shiver.
"Fuck, you can't do that doll you have to eat. Dry heaving and throwing up water is only gonna make you feel worse and you'll make yourself ill, trust me. Alright, get in the car."
"I can walk from here-"
"Get in." Ben was already climbing in the car as he spoke and his tone told (Y/n) not to disagree with him on this so she stayed quiet and got back into the car. She was five minutes from home, she could walk down the street and reach the church in about two minutes, there was no point for Ben to drive her to their usual spot when she could just walk there.
"Ben, w-where are we going?" (Y/n) turned her head and looked out of the window when Ben turned the car around and started to head down a different road. This wasn't the way to (Y/n)'s home, he was going in the completely opposite direction.
"Do you think I don't know that you've been throwing up because you're scared?" His words were oddly calm and understanding compared to how his tone had been just seconds ago. "I'm not taking you home so you can stress yourself out or have a panic attack, you're coming home with me." Ben had seen how bad (Y/n)'s morning sickness was and when he picked her up for the past few days for work he knew she had been sick and she looked unwell. He wasn't blind, he knew she was getting anxious and that was making her feel worse.
Ben couldn't drop (Y/n) off at home when she had just been sick out of worry and when he knew she was only going to feel worse once she was home where her family would most likely start an argument and stress her out. It was better all round if she just came home with him because she wouldn't be as panicked with him and there was nothing at his place to stress her out.
"But I said I'd be home tonight, they'll be worse with me tomorrow if I don't turn up tonight." (Y/n)'s tone was pleading but it was also wavering and weak because they both knew she didn't really want to go back home tonight. She wanted to stay with Ben and go to sleep curled up in his arms and wake up with him where she felt at ease and comfortable rather than at home.
But she also didn't want an argument to happen when she eventually went back home to her family after telling them this morning she would definitely be back home tonight after work.
"You're not well, can't you let me look after you, please?"
(Y/n) needed no more convincing than that to give in and stay silent as Ben headed in the direction of his house instead of hers. When she eventually went back home there was going to be an argument and it was not going to end in (Y/n)'s favour, she knew that for sure.
But for now, she had another night to spend with Ben, away from the panic and threat of her family finding out her secrets.

BET. II
Erik x BlackReader
Summary: Erik and his friends place a bet to get with you little does he know who you and family are.
Part 1
......................................
“Ahh Ray Charles.. Ray Sings, Basie Swings. How did you know? I’m going to enjoy this..“ Your father held the vinyl closely reading all the fine print on the back of the casing.
“How could I not? Ray was all you listened to back then. Your one and only obsession.“ You smiled fondly at the older man. He seemed to be really happy about the gift. That made you feel good. Job well done.
He called one of the four men that stood guard around his office. Dressed in black suits with black earpieces. One hurried towards him. With quickness he took the vinyl from his hands and pulled out the vinyl to insert it into the gramophone.
He dropped the needle and Oh, What A Beautiful Morning started playing. Ray Charles voice filling the wide space. Your father's office was the backdrop of your childhood when you were still innocent and hopeful. You used to run between the wooden chairs and hide behind the large curtains. Minding your blissful business.You missed these days but thinking about the past did nothing but let pain into your heart. Now you were back years later, a grown women. Wiser, intelligent and sometimes harsh.
 Your father's smile took you out of your train of thought. He seemed happy these days. You didn't live with him so seeing him was a treat. You would told anyone this but you were much closer to him the your mother. There were reasons for that, none that made your mother seem unfit but you felt more willing to share your woes and problems with your father. It just felt right.
Next moment the guards left, moving swiftly and closed the door behind them. Offering much needed privacy. While they left he poured himself a glass of whiskey.
“Thats is not true, Ray is not my only obsession...speaking of..how is your Mother doing?“ He carried on the conversation as if nothing had happened.
“For a divorced couple you both do sure ask about each other a lot.“ You placed your bag on his wooden table and sat down on the leather chairs. Your large dreadlocks laid down the sides of your body.
“She is the Mother of my beautiful children how could I not care about her well being Y/N?“ He was being sarcastic to cover up his true feelings. He felt bad that you had figured him out already. He sometimes forgets how in ture you are with people's motives and emotions.if only he knew that you didn't judge him one bit. You loved that he wanted her back but you couldn't make your mom fall for him. Not after what happened.
“I guess, but I know you miss her ...and not in that way in the other way...in the making a 4th child way.“ You took a sip of his whiskey since you already decided to be cheeky with him.
“Y/N!! I am your father!!“ He gently reminds you.
“And I am your daughter, who can see through your bullshit....I have a good idea! Marry her again!!“
“Y/N!“
“Okay I'm sorry about swearing but you know i'm right.“ You cross your legs and arms.
He leaned back and siped what was left of his whisky. A coy smile on his face thinking about his ex wife.
“How are the twins by the way?”
“They are fine. Somewhere in Spain, partying. They are young, Dad. Let them live okay. Don't do what you did with me.  Look, now i'm a introverted bitch who cares more about her hair care collection than a real relationship. Call them ...ask how they are doing...show them ...that you care even if it looks small. We love affection.“
“Okay I won't be strict on the boys and ill send them love letters every 2 seconds”
You rolled your eyes
“- But your mother will defendant be strict with them. I can't help you there. Speaking about relationships..you still up on my offer?”
You let out a sigh thinking about his offer.
“No..I love you dad but i have to decline.I appreciate it I really do but..but you know I'm not a fan of your line of work... and I know what your gonna say. The money raised us, yes and it came when we really needed it. It's a double standard but I can't have someone with such a risky ...lifestyle. I worry about you and Uncle Ronny too much already. Just for my piece of mind I can't go out with the men you have in mind.“
“Don't worry sweetheart. Your old man understands.“
“I mean do you know any teachers, bus drivers, an IT guy...hell you know any barrestas.“ He laughed and your sense of humour.
He was glad you were very open with him. Unlike your younger brothers you had reached maturity that surprised him but sometimes you being alone with no one did worry him.
“Dad Im happy. Don't worry. I really dont need a man. I'm good.“ You tried to convince him.
“I wouldn't be this...concerned if ...if you were active.“
“No! I'm not having this conversation with you.“  You were shocked. He had due restriction when it came to your sex life.
“Baby listen you can't be ...scared your whole life. I know what happened when you were young and I know how damaging that experience was to you. You were so young and brave-.“
You cut him off.
“Brave? I wasn't brave dad. I just.....I just layed there and he-” Your voice cracked. You squeezed your thighs remembering the pain “..I Know I can't think like that, that a man who wants me will treat me that way but ...it's so hard. The thought of opening up to a stranger ..it's bit crazy.”
You wanted him to knew you were afraid but at the say time you didn't. You wanted to live up to this strong daughter image but you had your moments of weakness. Bearing them deep in your soul was better than reliving them.
“You forgave him, made some calls and you took care of him.”
“Is that what we calling murder now.“ You pushed your hair back.
“You know you didn't have to do it.“ He leaned back into his chair. The smirk on your face worried him.
“I'm glad I did.“
“but... you became stronger. I dont think you should let that event lead you stray from love..potential love. You are-”
“Putting a bullet through his head was never going to take the pain away.“ You whispered
“Does it make me a bad person that I loved the sound of his ...agony... The scream he let out when Uncle Ronnie started cutting off his fingers. Does that make me a bad person?” You voice was soft and dry.
“You wanted revenge....Anyone would have. You a good girl Y/N. You deserve to be happy, I'll make sure of it. If anyone tries anything. I mean anything with you. They so much as move a hair out of place. Call me and they will wish they were never born.“
You wink at him trying to lighten the heavy mood
“Speaking of that..... I did met someone!“ You looked down fearing his reaction. It was bad timing but you wanted him to know
“Really now?“ he looked surprised.
“Yes..and I have his number. He seemed kind and he said he came out of a bad break up about a year ago. I'm not sure about him but he..he made feel comfortable.“
”Well I’m very happy to hear that. When are you planning to meet the young man.“
“I’m not sure maybe tomorrow maybe next week, maybe never.“
“Okay then. Tell me when you or if you do meet him. But I do need to leave unfortunately. I'm leaving the country for a bit. Business of course but please do get comfortably. I will see you in 4 days.“
You got up from your chair and gave your father a hug. He was warm and large just how you liked. Your face rested on his chest. Hearing his calm heart beat.
“Thank you for being understanding, for being patient with me and supportive. Please stay safe and come back in one piece.“
“Always. Now please. Get some rest. Eat something.” He gave you a kiss on the cheek and you left his office.
You strolled making your way to your ride. You instructed Frank, your driver to take you to the Hilton hotel. You had been living there since you arrived. The suite you booked was beautiful and you wish you could live there forever. There were no memory, no stress, no anxiety, no fears. when you layed in your bubble bath in the lavish hotel room you at peace. Milky bubble bath sat still around your curvy brown form, hair up away from the fragranced  soapy water.
You remember telling your father you didn't need a man. That was true you didn't need one but having someone would be nice. The gilded hotel rooms, marble floors and first class flights to any country. They would be so much better with someone. Someone who cared and loved you. Maybe giving Someone a chance would a right start but you really didn't want to date. The process seemed tedious and time consuming.
But Erik seemed....different. Well that's what you thought. He was a gorgeous black man, there was question about that but beautiful men are everywhere. Your priority was finding someone with a good heart, maybe some who is simple. No flashy lifestyle. Someone would have patience and be slow with you.
Taking a chance climbed out of the warm tub heading to get your phone on the messy bed...Wrapped in a towel you decided to call him.
***************************
“You are a punk, look hoe I'm beating your ass.“ Erik shouted
They were in a heated basketball video game. The guys had brought drinks, weed and snacks to Coles place. It was a friday so they wanted to unwind.
“Trey, I will body you next round I swear. How could you let this fool win.”  Jadyn complained
“...And you put money on this nigga.“ Trey called Cole out.
“”What? I thought I could win...I really did have it..“
“Don't lie! You never had it.“ Erik mocked him.
“Ahh I wouldn't be talking if I was you ...shawty still hasn't texted your ass..“ Cole gave back the same energy.
“..She will ..just give her time.“ Erik really didn't expect you to take time long to text him. It pissed him off. He underestimated your thirst.
Any girl with half a brain would have texted him by now.  He was used to that. There was no instant gratification with you. He felt ashamed a bit that you didn't fall to his feet and he tried to avoid talking about the bet.
“..Stop all that..just reload the next game..i'm going to the bathroom... “
He up and left. Minutes later he heard Cole telling him he had a phone call from an unknown number.
“Let it ring...“ He shouted back as he dried his hands
“So E who’s calling you so late. Its almost 11. Early booty call.“
Erik made his way back to the living room.
“Nah all my booty calls are saved. I have Friday Linda big Titties, double cheek up Nikki, Lisa Titties could be bigger ....and my absolute favorite.....Nasty Keke. Now that bitch is crazy. “
“Call it back maybe it's an important call from the hospital or something.“ He stopped playing the game.
“Man why would you say that...playing with my guilty conscious and shit.“
He dialed up the number and called it.
It would be an understatement to say he did not expect your voice. It was sweet with just enough of nervousness to make it sound more attractive.
“Hey“ Erik’s voice involentarly went high as well and all the 3 men in the room with him looked at him.
“Are you alone?“ You asked. Erik signaled them to turn of the games and stay quiet then proceed to put the call on speaker.
“Yeah It's just me. I..I didn't expect you to call.“
“Oh ...Im sorry. Its just I feel like calling is better? Don't you think?“ You waited for him to answer. Tip toeing around your room.
“Don't apologise...I mean..Yeah..Calls are more personal. Makes the person in the other end feel..... real.“
All 3 men knew Erik was talking shit but for a small moment Erik forgot about the Bet. It was actually nice to have a female call him like this. It had never happened before. They always just texted him. Texted him where to pick them up and when to. They never really wanted to get to know him.
“Did your father like the gift?“ He asked
“Yes, he did. He’s a big fan of Ray.“ You hated how nervous you were. It really annoyed you. You didn't understand because you weren't this emotional when you meet him back at the music store. Why did you feel like this now. You liked how deep his voice was, You tried not to be affected by its smoothness.
“ - and hows that heart of yours?“ Erik remembered the lie he had told before.
“His doing much better now that you called. You made a brother wait 2 weeks.”  You let out a playful laugh
“Believe or not but I have other things to deal with...but you're very corny Sir. Do you know that?“
“Yes. I'm just trying to be myself. Corny all day. How was your day Y/N?“
“Well, I facetimed my brothers, Dwayne and Dean. They on vacation right now. Then I visited my dad. I actually gave him the ...gift today. Now i'm at home...its a hotel but still.. Nothing much really and you? A handsome man like you surely has tons of women -“
Erik knew that in order to gain your trust he had to destroy any doubt you might have about him. That yeah, a tall, handsome man could be available like that.
“Its 11: 20 and Im on the phone with you ..what women?”
The line went silent for too long. You didn't know what say. Erik and his friends could hear your soft breaths. You were lying face up on the bed now.
“You still there“ he asked.
“There’s a Japanes restaurant downtown... Nine o'clock sharp. Tomorrow.“ You hold your breath.
Erik stood up and did a victory dab and the men smiled
“Let me pick you up, Where do you live?“
“No you dont have to...you know what yes“ Erik thought your outburst was strange but he didn't dwell to much on it.
But that would be hard to explain. Why you had a 6.2ft armed guard following you at all times ....at any given moment he was always next to you. You didn't want him to see that. It would be too early to explain to him. Joe, your bodyguard didn't like leaving you alone. He would meet your father's wrath if anything happen to you. So you would have to talk to him and make sure he stays low.
You would just cross that bridge when you got there.
 “......Yeah. I'm excited.“
You regretted saying that. It just came out to fast. You really didn't want Erik to think you were forward.
“Me too.“ Your heart melted a little. For some reason you thought he would make fun of you.
“Have a nice night Erik. I'm going to bed now."
"Okay goodnight Princess."
You bit you lip and hung up before you moaned out loud. Rolling around in bed you giggled from the adrenaline from the pet name paired up with his voice. You couldn't believe what you just did. You felt a sense of victory. You felt proud of yourself. You hoped Erik felt the same.
**************
He hung up and the boys went wild with excitement.
" fuck that....I'm not letting you anywhere near my girl no more. You too smooth nigga." Trey said laughing with excitement.
"She eat that shit up like breakfast. I hope yall have got my cash ready."Erik said
“You better send us some evidence though.“ Trey reminded him
“Yeah whatever. I need to leave anyway get ready for my date and shit. I think i'll stop by Tati’s house first. That girl knows how to throw it back. I'm out.“ He got his belongings and left. Meanwhile you left to call Joe. He had rather stand guard outside the hotel door then inside. He liked to give you your private space. You called him.
“Joe could you come in for a bit i need to talk to you.“
“Sure.“ By the time you had slipped into pjs he was standing in the living room area.
“Joe...Please take a seat. There is something i need to tell you....“
“Yes “ the incredibly large man sat down legs wide on the soft couch.
“I'm going on a date tomorrow.“ You would be lying if you said you didn't expect his reaction to the new.
“..and who the fuck is that punk.“
Joe had watched you grow up in front of his eyes. he was assigned to you when you were 12. He knew you better than most people in your life so he cared for you a lot and he had his own way of showing it.
“Joe please. He’s nice. And he's taking me out tomorrow.“
“Is he that nigga that was bugging you at that music shop. Him and his friends were acting too fresh for my liking. Eyeing you like a piece of meat. “
“okay i get it men are weird but the reason i called you in ..was to ask you ...to not come.“
“Forget it. If something happens to you ..your father will kill me.“
“I know...Its just i dont want him to know. Can you at least just keep a low profile.“
“Okay. I'll try...but if he so much as hurts you ill...“ You covered his mouth quickly.
“I think you forgetting that i can take care of myself.“

in an effort to make more personal posts here, here's one. I currently have either covid or the flu we aren't sure yet. Here's how thats gone so far.
I'm so sorry I'm on mobile and I can't do a readmore.
So me and Aly (my fiance, the lovely alys_gay_parade no im not tagging her in this drivel) were planning to go walk around and go out to lunch at the mall food court which is home to the only panda express currently taking foot traffic. We decided she'd be dropped off at my place in the morning and from there we could get on the bus and go to the mall. I'm sure I don't have to explain why it had to be so complicated.
So that night, I felt chills, deep in my chest. I know the feeling often indicates a fever, but I am also a dramatic bitch so I went and took my temperature with the house thermometer expecting it to say about 97 because I am also a cold bitch.
It read 100.2 and the thermometer made an urgent beep at me. I took some Advil because it lowers a fever and then noticed pain and stiffness in my neck and shoulders. Feeling around I found the lymph nodes on either side of my neck swollen and tender. This has never happened to me before, but it turns out my anti-anxiety medicine can cause it to occur more often with illness and even just spontaneously on its own.
The Advil soothed the pain and chills and I slept. This went on for three days, until today (9/9/2020).
I hadn't taken medicine since about 7 in the morning and I felt alright. My lymph nodes and neck were still sore but I was sure it would heal and go away soon enough. My last temperature reading had been a low 98, even! I went about my day.
Until about 5pm. I realized in my little room I couldn't get warm no matter what. I had two space heaters in there to try and overcome my drafty window, but it just wasn't working. I went out to the living room, where my parents usually keep it very warm because they're old and become chilly easily. I parked myself in the armchair closest to the big space heater and tried to get warm.
I still couldn't get warm.
My mom assured me it was cold outside so she understood, gave me fluffy warm socks and had me put a blanket over my body which already had fleece pajama pants and a hoodie on.
I still wasn't warm. My face had become hot, but the rest of me still shivered periodically and uncontrollably.
"Er, can I have the thermometer so I can reassure myself?" I asked my mom as casually as I could, expecting it to read 97.
It beeped urgently and read 102.8.
"Oh no, that's bad." I said, fully startled by the result. I'd thought I was just being a dramatic bitch about the cold weather we had.
"It isn't bad." my mom assured me. Even so, she gave me some Tylenol to try and lower it, and urgently asked if I had any lesions from my HS currently that could be septic. I didn't, I'd checked first thing when I'd got a fever initially because I know those infections can go crazy sometimes.
I don't usually tell my parents if something is wrong unless it is very wrong. This is because I am an adult and generally handle my own problems. So, when I am in pain from an HS abscess or swollen lymph nodes, I kind of just power through it because it seems the adult thing to do. I'd been struggling to keep warm for a couple hours before I went to the warmer rooms because I did think it was my drafty window doing it.
The next two hours my mom monitored my fever and gave me more reducing medicine.
"Don't heat up and kill my brain cells," I warned, pointing at my body threateningly, "I need those to be funny."
This was after my highest spike, 103.7.
My mom is a veteran preschool teacher. She knows that if the person in charge remains calm, everyone else will too. This is important with small children because a room full of panicking 4 year olds in an actual emergency is Bad. My mom had seemed calm and not that concerned, until that high reading. Then I saw her eyes go wide and she showed it to my dad and said in the most distressed voice "Her fever is going up." (Yes I am out as NB to my parents, I just use she/her And they/them so that's fine.)
I was thoroughly scared now and also had looped back around in temperature to feeling like I was sitting too close to a bonfire and it was making me sweat and hot on my face. The last time I'd left the house was two days before I got sick and I'd gone to the 7/11. I hadn't gone anywhere with Aly, in fact I had canceled on her twice now because I had a fever and didn't want to spread disease. I got my flu shot two weeks prior to the illness. My mom asked me about all of these and wrote them in her notebook. The store was my last chance to have caught a virus, because being a homebody in a quarantine Fucks.
In the end, my fever went down with enough medication and I was sent to bed and told to monitor it. We did discuss that if it went higher than that 103 or stayed in that range, we would have to go to the emergency room because that would be dangerous- a risky fever for an adult is 103 or higher.
In the end, it did go down and I went to bed. If it spikes again tomorrow I will probably have to get covid tested which means I will have done it Twice now while my family hasn't even done it once. I cannot wait for the saliva tests to come out. Even blood tests would be less uncomfortable than a swab rubbing the back of your sinus cavity on either side.
I will update as things happen. Currently my temp is around 98, which is a tad high but not a fever anymore. Alongside antibiotics, I now think fever reducing medicine is one of humanity's greatest medical achievements.
If you thought this was long uhhh it took place over like 3 hours for me while severely ill so I captured the feeling well if it feels like it goes forever.

Jess is here!!! I am so happy she got here safe and sound. And she came so much earlier then usual so we have already had basically an entire day together. Its great. I feel so good about it.
Today really has been excellent. I slept pretty well last night. It took me forever to actually fall asleep but once I was I slept really good. I woke up around 8 because Jess was texting me she got to the bus station okay. And soon she was on her way here for real. She said it was so empty and only a couple people where even on the bus. Neat. Lots of space to breath. I lounged a bit. But eventually I got up and got myself dressed. I look a bit bundled and silly in my picture but I felt really cute today. Very soft. I didnt love my makeup as much as yesterday but that was okay.
I had a nice morning. James made scones and they were sightly dry but really delicious. Orange and cranberry. The best. I worked on some of my tarot drawings and it was just really nice. He was anxious about being late to get Jess because we had to make a couple stops before going to the bus station. So he made us leave over an hour early. Such a silly boy. But it was all fine. I wasnt worried. As we left we ran into Mr Will and we gave him a scone and our old vacuum. No more need to take it to goodwill, poor Mr Will has been cleaning the halls with a broom. We hope this makes things easier on him. It was a beautiful day out.
First stop we made was to go to the post office. Mail a furby and get my passport application. We are going to the passport event next saturday so it will be good to have the form all filled out and ready to go. James wanted me to come in because every time he ships a furby they scold him for the size of the package. It needs to be bigger. But she didnt scold me at all. HAH! I win. I will make an effort to make the paper portion larger so they can fit the labels on like they need to.We took a long drive and stopped for gas. And then we were at the bus station.
And Jess was soon there too!! I was so happy to see her. And we had such a nice day. First we were all starving so we went to Red Emmas for lunch. For was excellent because its always excellent. Something me and Jess always do is split food. So we got a salad and a burger and cut them both in half and it was great. Its one of my favorite ways to eat and me and her do it very well.
We all went back to the apartment to make a pit stop and drop off James. And Jess gave me an early birthday present. She got us matching sweatshirts that were going to wear tomorrow and Im so excited because I had shown her these sweatshirts a while ago and made a joke about how we could match but I didnt buy them and then she did!! I am so pleased. What a nice gift.
Me and her headed out and went to Amazing Glaze to paint pottery. It was so nice. It took a while for Jess to pick what she wanted to paint. But I knew what I was getting right away. My plan was to paint 2 rectangle plates to look like playing cards. I really wanted it to look like blue china and Jess helped me pick the best color to do that. She ended up picking a really pretty tray and doing this beautiful series of moon phases with faces. Its going to look so nice when its fired. We were there for a few hours drawing and painting. This was for sure my most draw heavy one. Not that I havent done a lot of drawing ones but this one took a lot of reference images and was very hard!! But Im really excited to see how they come out.
We left there and headed back home. I had a lot of trouble parking. But that was fine. Jess helped me. We had nachos as a snack. And watched some dumb videos. And soon it was time to get ready to go to dinner with James family. We got to their house and it was like Christmas part 4 because there were Christmas cookies and gifts and it was nice! I got a glass bottle of coke with my name on it! Spelled right even! And Margot gave me a really neat necklace that has a mini embroidery hoop on it. Its really cute and so thoughtful!
We all headed over the restaurant and it was very busy. The parking lot included. Which is also a really weird shape. And James accidentally scraped a car. And of course the owners saw it and he got all flustered because he couldnt find our insurance card. I had to be very level headed and find it and calm him down. James ended up knowing them and its going to be fine. They gave him hugs even.
But the food was really good and I had a really fun time talking to Jess and James and a little to his sister. The food was just excellent though and I had such a nice time. We tried so many things and it was all so well made. Expensive and well made. It was a really nice and I had a really goof time. But we were all getting tired.
So we got home and got changed. And me and Jess stretched and did some yoga and now were playing Animal Crossing together. Its really nice to have someone to play next to. We are figuring out how to share money in the game to try to level her up! Well see how that goes. Its supposed to snow tomorrow. Well see how that goes. We are supposed to have a thrifting day and then go ice skating. So I hope that isnt derailed much. But no matter what Im just going to be happy she is here. I hope you all have a really nice night. Stay warm.

Fast cars & Freedom: Bad Liar (12/?)
The end of summer zoo trip has arrived, as tensions run high will the trip be a disaster? Catch up HERE
Pairings: Logan x Ellie, Colt x Ellie
Rating: Mature
Tumblr media
Ellie had gotten herself in well over her head again. After Logan told her what he wanted, and the blow up with Colt. She made herself busy with work, and spending her free time with Luca. She had been looking forward to the zoo trip all summer, but that morning she woke up dreading the day. She had minimal contact with Colt, and Logan was often at the track preparing for a big race coming up. She got up and got herself ready before waking Luca up. Once luca was ready they went down and had breakfast. Ellie sat there picking at her muffin, not having much of an appetite, and her stomach was flopping all over the place.
“Hey guys. We're sorry but we're not going to make it to the zoo today.” Ellie gave her dad a confused look. “Um ok. Not that I didn't want you guys to come but, it was only supposed to be The four of us. Luca, logan, colt and I.”
“oh Logan invited us the other day. But, sally and I are going away for the day.” Frank grabbed a cup of coffee while the frustration swirled in Ellies head. “You ok kiddo? You look a little pale.” Ellie shook her head “Yeah, im fine just, my nerves are shot.”
“Grampy, I'm going to the zoo today. I'm going to see Lions and pandas and tigers and hiphopitamuses.” she grinned, Ellie and Frank chuckling at the mispronunciation. “You mean hippopotamus’s” Frank snickered. “Yeah, that's what I said hiphopitamuses. Silly grampy.”
“Well you have fun. And don't let the monkeys fling poop at you.” Frank waved. “Dad! Seriously?” Ellie scolded him. He stuck out his tongue and walked out the door.
Ellie and Luca drove alone, meeting Logan and Colt there. After a 2 hour drive they pulled into the parking area of the zoo, meeting Colt at the gate. “Colt.” Luca went running, a wide smile spread across his face “Hey princess.” he scooped her up in a hug. “Hi Colt.” Ellie walked up to the too. “Ellie.” He acknowledged her. He still was angry, her stomach churned again, the stress was eating at her. “Hey Luca, Hey Ellie, you guys made it finally.” Logan came walking up, Ellie turned towards his voice glad he was there but her face falling slightly seeing Stacie standing next to him. “Oh, hey Stacie I didn't expect to see you here.”
“Oh, yeah Logan asked me to tag along.  Riya and Darius couldn't make it.” Stacie grinned.
Ellie chewed the inside of her cheek, trying not to say something she might regret.
They paid for their tickets and made their way into the zoo. Luca was ecstatic,  she loved the zoo and Ellie would often take her back on the East coast. She would always tell her how her parents would take her when she was a little girl, and her favorite animals to see were the otters.  Logan was just as excited as Luca he had never been to the zoo before. They walked around coming up to the Arctic Fox. "Wow, so pretty. Its fur is snow white." Ellie marveled at the beautiful animal before her. "Well, its white what did you expect." Colt snorted, Ellie shot him a dirty look. "Let's move on." Stacie suggested, sensing the tension.
They walked up to the baboons, they watched them run around and jump, playing with each other.  Ellie stood next to Colt, who had Luca on his shoulders, her gaze set on Logan standing with Stacie. His hand planted on her shoulder as he stood behind her, pointing things out.she watched as Stacie laughed, and then playfully slapped his chest.
"Ok. Let's move on." Ellie snapped, they all looked at her as she quickly turned making her way to the next animal.
They stood in front of  the penguin display. "OOH penguins, I love penguins Colt. Get closer. " Luca tugged on his hair. "Ouch. Alright, Alright. I'll move closer." Logan stood next to Ellie and Stacie. "Awe look at the babies." Stacie swooned. "Did you know the father hatches the egg while the mother hunts?" Logan crossed his arms, pleased with his input. "Oh yeah? Where did you hear that?" Stacie quirked her brow, Logan gave her a lopsided grin "happy feet." Ellie rolled her eyes annoyed.  Stacie was her friend, but why did Logan invite her on their family outing, or for lack of better terms, dysfunctional family outing?
Of course you'd be impressed by that Ellie mumbles under her breath.  Colt cocked his head to the side.  "Something bothering you Elle?"
"NO." she snapped.
"You know most penguins go through life with one partner. Once they find them, they never seperate." Ellie shot him an unamused look. "If only some humans were like that." He focus on her as he spoke.  "Come on squirt, lets go look at the giraffe's."
Ellie stood there alone a minute while everyone followed colt. She could feel her stomach churning again. This was not how she anticipated the day going. Once she semi composed herself she joined the others.
After an afternoon of snide remarks and jabs between the 3 of them Ellie finally had her fill. They were standing in line to get drinks. It was hot, and tensions were running high. "Can we go see the tigers? Mommy, I want to see the polar bears, you promised we could see the polar bears. When Can we see something else. " Luca whined.
"Luca, we will go in a minute. Calm down and let stacie get her drink." Ellie snapped. "Whoa Ellie calm down. Are you mad about something?" Logan questioned as Ellie stood there, mouth agape "Seriously Logan?" She threw her hands up in the air "Why did you invite Stacie here?"
"I didn't think it would be a problem." Ellie rolled her eyes. "Of course not. Nothing is ever a problem. This was supposed to be a family outing. Is. Is something going on with you and Stacie?" She pointed at him, just as Stacie walked up. "No, were just friends Ellie." Logan said in defense prompting stacie to chime in "Ellie, I told you I would never do that to you."
"Why do you care so much Ellie? You want to be with Logan?" Colt broke his silence. The four began to argue amongst themselves for a few minutes, finally Ellie spoke up "I'm done with this. Come on Luca, lets let's go see the polar bears." She turned looking for Luca, she was nowhere to be found. "Luca? LUCA!" she shouted panic setting in.
"Luca." Logan shouted, still not getting a response.  Ellie began to hyperventilate colt on her immediately "Ellie, Elle I need you to calm down. We're gonna find her. Breathe in." He looked up "Logan, go look by the polar bear enclosure, and then to the Lions.  Stacie, go tell a staff member we have a missing child." The two nodded and took off.
"Colt, my baby. What if we." Ellie sobbed.
"Hey, calm down. We're gonna find her, trust me." He pulled her into a tight embrace, calming her down. "Now, is there anywhere else she would go?" Ellie's eyes went wide "Hippos."
Colt grabbed her hand as they took off running, darting around the other visitors. They came upon the Hippo enclosure, their eyes darted around before Colt locked eyes on the small brunette child "Luca." She shouted, she turned smiling at him. "Ellie, I got her." He shouted as he scooped her up in his arms. "Luca, you scared us. You can't wander off sweetheart."
"Lulu, oh thank god. Baby you can't wander off, you scared us to death." The three stood ellie and colt holding onto her for dear life.
Logan and Stacie ran up, thankful she was ok. A slight pained look on his face as he watched the interaction between the three. "I'll go and inform the staff we found her." Stacie gave his shoulder a squeeze as she parted. Logan made his way to the trio "Thank god you found her. Hey lulu, you really gave us a scare." Luca reached over for Logan. "Are you mad at me uncle Logie?" Logan chuckled "no. I'm glad you're ok. But you can't wander off like that ok."
They decided to call it a day after that. Luca having school the next morning. Both men agreeing to come see her off. As Ellie put Luca to bed that night the day replaying in her head. How did things get so screwed up. Was there really something going on between Stacie and Logan? She knew Colt was upset about the divorce, but the way he stepped up and took control of the situation made her really believe he would be a good dad, if he was Lucas father. And the few minutes Luca was gone terrified her, it was just a few minutes but it felt like a lifetime. The nagging nauseous feeling crept back up again, she couldn't wait for it to be all over, the divorce,  the paternity results. She laid down, tossing and turning in bed most of the night.
The next morning she woke up, got Luca ready and sure enough both Colt and Logan were there to see her off. Luca was excited to start school, she excelled in preschool,  and placed much higher than a kindergarten level on her school entrance test. Though she most likely got her smarts from her mother, Colt was also very smart, and Logan really showed his intellectual side during the study date with Riya and Darius all those years ago. She would definitely be a force to be reckoned with in school, that was for sure.
Ellie took the day off of work, she knew she wouldn't be productive with her mind occupied with Luca being at school. She spent the day wandering around the house,  cleaning up, unpacking boxes she still hadn't gotten around to. If she were being honest with herself she was also trying to block out the fact the court date was the next week. She often found herself wondering if she were making a mistake,  and every time she wondered it, Dracys words popped in her head. He loved Luca, he really seemed like he would be a good dad. But what if being a family wasn't enough? What if he turned out to be just like Kaneko, wanting more, the crew again. She took a deep breath, allowing herself to think those thoughts brought back the familiar nauseous feeling. She took a deep breath calming herself down,  she would cross that bridge when the time came, only if she were Colts.
Before she knew it, it was almost time to get Luca from the bus. Logan had a race he coming up, so he had to take off right after they got Luca on the bus. Colt however, would be there. Ellie sat on the front patio waiting when she heard the familiar sound of a bike coming down the street. She watched  him as he pulled into the driveway. She always loved the way he looked when he rode. He had traded in his old leather jacket for a new one, his shoulders broader than when he was 19 going on 20. He was still as fit as ever, ellies mind flashed back to the night they hooked up, her hands pressed against his muscular chest. She bit her lip at the thought,  his impossibly tight shirt not helping the situation as he walked towards her . "I knew you would be out here already." He smirked as he walked onto the porch. "Yeah, how'd you know that." She tilted her head at him. "Because you're always like an hour early for everything."
He was right, and she couldn't believe he remembered.
"You ever think you'll go back to a car?" She asked.
"Not anytime soon," He chuckled "Guess I'll have to use one of the cars I Have sitting around for when I have Luca."
"I miss it." Colt eyed her "miss what? The bike? You want that too?"
"NO. I miss the riding. The thrill, the feeling." A blush crept up on her cheeks she prayed he didn't notice.
"Let's take a ride. " He stood holding out his hand. Ellie hesitated "I ahhh. I dont know, Luca-"
"will be off the bus in 45 minutes, we have time. Come on, we have plenty of time." Ellie contemplated for a split second, before an old feeling she had tucked away ignited her body. "Let's do it." She jumped up following him to the bike. They climbed on and he fired up the bike.
She wrapped her arms around his waist tightly, her head rested against his back. She watched as the scenery flew by in a blur, the sound of his peaceful breathing putting her at ease. She missed this more than she thought, she needed just one last ride before she closed that chapter of her life completely. They drove for about twenty minutes and then came back to the house. They got off the bike, "thanks. I needed that." Ellie smiled as they walked together to the patio. "Yeah  anytime." He sat down fidgeting with his thumbs. "I'm leaving town Elle." He blurted out. Ellie felt her heart drop into her stomach. "Colt. We have court, and what about Luca?" She was shocked, she couldn't believe he would just leave.
"I can't go to court, I can't go and I won't.  If I go, I will contest it all. But if I leave, you'll get what you want,  you'll be happy." He turned looking at her "That's all I want for you El, to be happy, that is all I ever wanted. I'll tell Luca, it's not forever,  just until after the court date." His voice cracking a little, she could tell he was giving everything he had not to break down, she had seen it once before, the night his father died. She tried to do the same but her eyes failed her terribly.  "Colt I. I'm sorry." She began to sob, a wave of emotion crashing over her. She hated this, she hated all of this. Why couldn't he of just got the annulment 6 years ago, why did she still have to care about them both?
"Ellie please don't cry, please." His voice wavering more. As he pulled her into a hug. "What. About. The test results,  what if they call?" She sniffled. "You call me, text me leave me a voicemail. Its shotty connection so I may not get them right away. If for some reason i can't get there, and she's not mine, just don't call me and tell me." Ellie shook her head. "When will you leave?"
"This weekend, friday morning. Just  for a week."
Before they knew it the bus pulled up. They were greeted by a bright eyed, big smile little girl. "Mooooomy, coooolt." She flew into Ellies arms almost knocking her over. "Whoa." Ellie goggled, steadying herself. "Did you have a good day?" "I had the best day ever!" She ran to colts arms as he scooped her up twirling her around. "Hey sweetheart, what did you do today?" He put her down as they sat down "Well my teacher tried to teach us counting today and they only had us count to 20. I said that's it?"
"Oh yeah? Well what did she say?" Colt cocked his brow, knowing Luca she gave this teacher a run for her money. "Well she said that we would work on counting past 20 later on in the year. So I said, lady I can count past 20 with no problem." They looked to her to finish.  "And she said oh yeah, that's excellent what can you count to? And then I said um like 1,000. So she didn't believe me so I started counting." Her face going somber "She. She cut me off at 497." Ellie and Colt both looked to each other and laughed.
"That's amazing squirt. You are so smart, just like mommy." Colts sincere gaze met her eyes. "Hey Luca. I have to tell you something ok?" Luca looked up at him "I just wanted to let you know that I have to go out of town for a little bit."
"You're leaving?" She sniffled.  "Yeah but not til Friday, and just a few days."
"Will you put me on the bus every morning?" She batted her tiny little lashes, Just like her mom, he was a sucker for it and Colt was warped around her tiny little fingers. "Yes I will."
"And get me off the bus?" Ellie chuckled, she was persuasive.
"Of course, wouldn't miss it for the world." Colt hugged her.
The week flew past, she missed Logan and wasn't sure what to do about him. Could she really divorce Colt and then date Logan? Was that even fair? Would she lose him forever? Could she handle that? Friday morning Colt came to put Luca on the bus, Ellie thought it best if he did it alone, it would be hard on them both when he left. Just a few short days and it would be over, but was she ready? Only time would tell.
Colt drove the biggest part of the day. Fighting back the urge to turn around and show up to that court house next week.  He needed to push through to get to his destination and try to clear his mind.
After almost 8 hours he pulled into the Lake Tahoe area. Up a gravel driveway to a nice cabin that sat by the lake. The woman stood there hands on her hips,  "Bout time you came up here to see me."
"Hey Mom."

OK SO you and byounggon have AP biology together, and somehow, by the grace of GOd himself, you’ve made it to the end of the year
It’s time for ur final exam!!! yay!!  because u can finally peace TF out of that class, but aww :’(( bc you have a final exam with 100 multiple choice  and 10 written questions 😔
some of ur ap bio shenanigans have included:
byounggon reading multiple questions OUT LOUD while you are writing the test and he literally doesn’t even notice
Like he just does it so naturally??? you’ll be side eyeing him through the divider that separates your desks
in your head, you’ll be like “AHEMMMM at LEAST read out the answers too damn ...”
He does not read out the answers :/
even tho it can be kind of off-putting, his voice is rlly deep and soothing!!!! so honestly it kind of helps your test anxiety
......but u will never admit that... he would have too much power
you and byounggon once made an animal cell out of rice krispy treats & candy
you guys left the project to the very last minute because collectively u have one brain cell
U guys started building but then u ate so much candy, you ended up puking🤮
After u had released the #barf, you and byounggon choose to cuddle up on the couch and u just chill for a couple hours
Somehow u convinced him to watch bird box????? He was DYING!!!
But it’s ok bc ur the Best Significant Other Ever and you used imdb to research every possible death scene!! and u gave him a solid 3 second warning every time
ONE TIME u were just a little bit off and he watched something a lil gruesome
U lost ur abiliity to hear from the scream that he released
“im never watching a movie with you AGAIN!”
“i said i was SORRY sodfjsdiofjsdio”
He complained for so long but then you promised you’d make it up to him with some kisses and he was like.... “hehehe ok im down”
a whole baby!!!!!
Its around 11pm now!! You and gon are cuddling on the couch, and it’s so warm, and cute, and wholesome <333
Ur running ur fingers through his soft hair and playing with his fingers; he’s just calmly humming and loving every minute of this
u start to close ur eyes and u feel kinda sleepy, so you lay your head on byounggon’s chest and just nestle in
you’re about to say “goodnight chief” and call it a night
But something feels off?
u suddenly shoot TF up and your mind is racing and ur like “thE PROJECT  !!”, real movie type shit
Ur trying not to LOSE UR MIND while byounggon is just snoring away... his arms are wrapped so tightly around u, and ur mind is still 23% asleep
honestly... maybe u should just lean back into his chest and fall asleep....
But then ur guilt complex is like ‘NO the pROJECT’
U want to wake him up but Byounggon: has left the chat
You start poking at his cheek erratically, and when he FINALLY wakes up, he’s all mumbley and tired and CUTE
U break the tragic news to him and now you’re both contemplating mental breakdowns
For the next 6 hours you guys are DEDICATED to this project
U show up to school the next morning with ur masterpiece:
(yall i rlly made that shit, respect me)
your eyes are SO unbelievably red, and for some reason, ur hair has marshmallow fluff in it????? u have to convince byounggon not to eat that shit on four separate occasions
“It looks yummy”
“PLS restrain urself”
So ur looking a little bit busted, but still cute, bc ur BEAUTIFUL nd sexy
SOMEHOW byounggon still looks perfect???? He looks like he’s just been rejuvenated by 10 hours of sleep; his skin is glowing and his eyes are twinkling... #unfair
when u guys show up to class, your teacher is sO happy with your project!!!!
but then she takes one look at you and she’s like, “(y/n) can i talk to you for a minute pls?”
“ uhh yeah ok, sure!!”
U think she’s about to tell you that she’s so proud of you both for coming up with such a creative idea, and for doing such a good job with the materials u used, but then she’s like:
“(y/n) ur eyes are so red”
ur kinda :’((( bc u think she’s about to scold you for pulling an allnighter...she’s a mama bear
“Pls stop smoking before class it’s rlly inappropriate”
Ur mouth is dropped WIDE open and byounggon is in the corner, snickering the sleep deprivation away: u want to kILL HIM!
Honestly, ur so shook, u kinda just stand there in silence while your teacher just shakes her head and does one of those “tsk tsk tsk” things and walks away
When u go back to ur desk, byounggon is like, “yea (y/n), u should rlly stop smoking at school, it’s super rude and honestly kind of distract-”
The look u give him makes him shut UP IMMEDIATELY
but then he just cranes his long arms around ur waist and smiles into the crook of ur neck and he’s like: “baby im sorry i love u”
So wholesome :’))))
Ur choked up?? And after all that work, a little bit delirious? U lean back into him and tilt ur head to the side so he can kiss u
when he pulls away he gives u this rlly uneven smirk
“even if u smoke before class”
“RUN AWAY RIGHT NOW OR IM GONNA [redacted]”
A couple weeks later, u guys have to do this lab on human heart rate and metabolism
bc byounggon is ur deskmate, he’s also ur lab partner (unfortunately)
Byounggon is RLLY SMART, but honestly u guys are just rlly unproductive when ur together bc u just want to. . .. hug him (relatable)
For one part of the lab, somebody needs to stick their hand into ice water while the other person monitors their heart rate
Byounggon REALLY passionately wants to be the one to dunk his hand in the water tank and ur just like “lmao ok calm down”
HIS HAND HAS BEEN IN THE ICE WATER FOR THREE MINUTES
@ this point, ur concerned x 3493049304930
He’s just like: “im FINE it’s FINE, keep going”
His eyes are TWITCHING
U have to forcefully yank his hand out of the water because he literally will NOT??? why is he like this
But it’s ok bc u warmed up his hand with lots hand holding and sweet lil kisses <333333
overall, bio have been a WILD ride, but byounggon has made it so much more enjoyable,,, and u guys love each other lots,,, (y/n) and byounggon for cutest couple 2k19  😘
Okay so now for the studying!!!
byounggon kind of had to beg to get you to study with him at the library
but that’s only because every time u study with him, u dont retain SHIT, bc ur too busy drooling over his jawline
U wanted to be rlly strict and firm so you could actually be well prepared!!!! But when he started whining and hugging on you,,,, what wEre you SUppOSED to DO?!?
So NOW, u and gon are at the library
U make him sit across from u
Because the lord knows, if he’s sitting next to, he will not stop kissing ur face and u RLLY need to do some learning!!! Studious Queen
twelve minutes into mitosis and chill, byounggon is pouting and using his biology textbook as a pillow
Literally byounggon is the kind of guy that looks like he’d be a rlly messy student, but he will take one look at the textbook, and get a 96%
So ofc, he’s like... “studying... who’s she?”
He’s just staring at you
In this moment, u look SO CUTE, bc ur head is burried in your book, and ur hair is adorably messy, and ur eyebrows are scrunched together bc ur rlly focused
Ur the cutest thing he ever saw?????
“Gon,,, baby u have to stop staring at me,, i can’t concentrate”
He’s so GOOFY
“im noooooooooot”
(he totally is)
It’s been about two hours?? Byounggon took a power nap, and u reviewed everything u possibly could,,, now u just want byounggon to hum u to sleep
byounggon is POWERED UP (stream power up by red velvet)  from his nap and he’s very, very, very giddy
And a lil clingy bc u haven’t cuddled him today yet :/
He’s been saying “mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell” for about 8 minutes,,, u would throw ur bag of hot cheetos at him but he’s just too pretty
He’s laughing AT HIMSELF
Ur shaking ur head and laughing at him too
The librarian POPS UP out of literally nowhere?? She looks at byounggon playing candy crush on his phone and she’s like “SHHHHHHHHHH!!! young man! you are being so disrespectful! this place is for students to study! U need to leave immediately”
She’s about to point her finger at you too, but then:
“Ma’am i’ve never seen this boy in my whole life” 😜
Byounggon is Taken Aback™
He rlly can’t believe u just did that
U start laughing so hard bc PAYBACK
But his mind is just thinking.. . “top ten worst anime betrayals of all time”
The librarian is so annoyed with both of you she just turns around and mumbles something like “stupID KIDS”
U have to lug byounggon outside bc now he’s #embarrassed bc of the librarian, and #hurt because u threw him under the bus
He’s still pretending to be upset by the time u guys make it back to his house, and u have to give him all sorts of compliments to make everything okay again
“ur chin.... is straight SEXY”
“i think it’s cute that u eat bananas with sriracha”
“i, for one, like the screams you make when we watch horror movies”
THE COMPLIMENTS ARE SO STUPID BUT FOR SOME REASON HE’S BLUSHING???? blushy babyyyyy 💖
u conclude with a veryyyy sweet kiss on his lips
let’s just say... he forgives u
THE NEXT DAY!!! It’s time for ur exam omgomg :’))))))
byounggon finishes that shit in 26 minutes and somehow ends up getting a 92%
it took u a solid 48 minutes and u ended up with a nice and spicy 90%
he gets the better mark bc he’s god Lee Byounggon??? U will never understand bc he rlly doesn’t even try.... U can’t relate
But it’s ok
Because he’s the cutest thing to ever exist in the world, and even if he makes u the most unproductive person in existence, u love him more than anything <333
And he loves u bby!!!!!
the librarian, on the other, loves neither of u 😔 ......
THE END ! ! ! !
i love u all!! and thank u for ur support!! hit like if u feel bad for the librarian  😔

Hope ya like this nonsense. Y/N= your name Y/F/D = Your favorite drink
Bellamy Blake x Reader
Description: high school AU where you're in a bit of an abusive relationship, and when you're lifelong bestfriend and crush finds out, all hell breaks lose.
Warnings: this could be triggering to someone who has experienced abuse, Language
You woke up to a chilly fall morning. The air was crisp and the leaves on the trees had fallen basically overnight. Fall was always your favorite. You loved the colors and the way the leaves sounded when you'd step on them.
You mumbled to yourself as you got ready, "should I bike or take the bus today? Is it even that cold?" You pulled out your phone to see it was going to be a tad chilly but not enough for you to take the bus. You finished brushing your teeth, grabbed your hoodie and left your house and headed down the street on your bike.
*pop ding*
A text from your boyfriend popped up, it read:
Babe: do you want coffee? Im stopping by the cafĂŠ by my house.
You had to pull over with your bike to respond.
Me: sure! Can you get me a Y/F/D please?
Babe: yeah I gotchu 👌
"Everything seemed so normal. He's either perfect or a nightmare, either kissing or yelling. Either happy or angry" you think to yourself as you continue biking to school.
You got to school at just about the same time as your boyfriend. He gave you your drink and wrapped his arm around you as you walked into the building. Class didn't start for another 5 minutes so you chilled in the hallway for a while.
"Hey Bellamy!" You shouted to your best friend
"Yes princess" he responded. He's called you that since you were little. Your boyfriend didn't like it too much but as if that would stop him.
"Want a sip?" You offered your drink with a cheesy smile
He stared for a second "what did you do to it?" He asked
"Bitch. Nothing I'm just being nice like you would know what that is" you smirked
"Very funny" he took a few sips and sat down with you and your boyfriend.
"So how was everyones weekend?" You asked hoping to break the tension between the two. Bellamy has always been protective of you and your boyfriend was easily jealous. Which makes sense since you've secretly had a thing for Bellamy since 1st grade.
"It was alright. I went skateboarding with the guys, had a few beers" your boyfriend seemed to not give a shit about when you two went to the movies.
"And Bell?"
"What do you mean Y/N we were either texting or hanging out all weekend you were basicslly there" you both laughed
"That is true" you responded
Your boyfriend didn't find it very funny
Class started and you went your separate ways, after of course your boyfriend walked you to your first class. Before you went in he pulled you aside
"Babe, I don't really like you hanging out with Bellamy" he said
"Wha- why?" You were confused. You've known Bell your entire life, why is it such an issue?
"I just don't fucking like it okay!" He shouted!
"Babe I-"
"Hes no good for you! He's a dick!" He just kept yelling. Hes never done this at school before. Sure He's gotten agitated with you but never to this extent.
"Calm down!" You tried your best to keep your cool
"Don't tell me to calm down! I'll calm down when you stop talking to him!"
You were speechless. How could he just flip a switch like this? Bellamy was with you maybe 4 minutes tops this morning. How is he this angry?
You tried to free yourself from his grip but he grabbed on tighter. You were surprised nobody came out of class to see what all the commotion was. You could feel your arms bruising under his hands
"Let go of me!" You screamed at him and tugged with all your strength. Finally. A teacher came out to see what was going on.
"Woah woah break it up right now!" He yelled
Your boyfriend didn't even seem human. It was like he was a whole new being
He didn't let go.
The teacher stepped in and physically forced his arms off of you. At this point the whole class was watching.
Your boyfriend was still. Not seeming to comprehend what he had done.
You were now hiding behind your good friend Murphy, and he was comforting you and wiping your tears away, shielding you from other students wandering eyes.
"Come on, it's ok, come on" he led you downstairs to an empty part of the hallway before teachers could even notice, then again they weren't too worried since they know how good of friends you and John were. You couldn't stop shaking.
John just held you in a tight hug and softly talked to you.
"It's ok, it's over now, Murphy's gotcha"
After maybe 15 minutes you calmed down enough to speak
"Wha- what do I do?" Your voice cracked
"Tell me exactly what happened, you don't have to keep going if you get anxious" he rubbed your back
"He. He just kept yelling. He doesn't want me to talk to Bell anymore. I. I don't know why that made him so angry. I always knew he was the jealous type but I would've never thought he would go this far."
"He won't touch you again" he sounded aggressive but in a soft way. You knew he would protect you to the ends of the earth.
You both sat in silence for another 20 minutes. A door slammed open and someone stated storming down the stairs.
"Y/N!!! Y/N I'm sorry!!" Your boyfriend yelled through the stairwell
Murphy grabbed you and you hid behind the solid side of the staircase, basically holding your breath.
He came to the bottom and looked through the window near where you were. He didn't see you and kept walking.
You counted his steps in your head.
"One..... Two.... Three... Four.... Fi-" he stopped. And turned around. What was he doing? He couldn't have seen you! Right?
He looked through that window again, and stood there for a few minutes. It felt like hours. Murphy was holding you so tight he could feel your ribs.
He turned around very slow, and spotted you both.
Murphy practically jumped up with you and hid you behind him.
"Y/N I'm so sorry. I. I didn't mean to do that ok. I just. I'm so scared you're only with me to make him jealous!" He was almost crying. But. It didn't seem real to you.
"Look man, the damage was done now lets say we don't create anymore and go our separate ways for now ok?" Murphy stated shakily while walking you to the stairs backwards to keep his eyes on this asshole.
"I wasn't talking to you Murphy. I don't want you here. Neither does she." He began to shout. You squeezed Murphy's hand in fear.
"Seriously dude just go the other way, this isn't worth it, you already ruined your only chance." John was not afraid of your boyfriend. In fact he never really liked him in the first place.
"GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE MURPHY" he shouted so loud you both flinched.
Murphy was going through all the scenarios in his head. He managed to back you both up to the staircase. He let go of your hand.
"Murphy?" You asked perplexed on what he was planning.
"Go get Bellamy Y/N" he whispered
"Murphy he'll beat the shit out of you!" You whispered back with a shake
"You underestimate me princess." He winked "Go get Bellamy and security. I'll keep him here. Go!"
You sprinted up the stairs with tears in your eyes. You could hear them whailing on each other.
You reached room 306, bursted through the door and yelled for Bellamy. He leaped out of his seat to get to you.
"Y/N whats going on?" He practically caught you from falling.
"Murphy! He's in danger! Downstairs. He told me to come get you!" You were out of breath. But you managed to pass the information quickly.
Bellamy's teacher noticed the bruises on your arms and asked you to come inside the class and wait for security to arrive. You sat down and felt everyone's eyes on you.
"Let me get you some water" Mrs. Williams said
As soon as she walked away you booked it out the door. You knew you couldn't sit there while your two best friends were in a fight.
You rached the first floor where everything took place. You saw Murphy on the floor bleeding and Bellamy and your now ex throwing punches left and right.
Without thinking you ran in to stop them.
Bellamy would never hurt you causing him to immediately stop swinging. Your ex however saw it as an opprotunity and punched you right in the jaw. However you were lucky enough to not have it crack into a million peices. It sure felt like it.
You hit the ground. Hard. Nobody knew how the hell you got back up but you did. And not only did you get back up but you were swingin too.
You must've hit him about 5 times before he got one in. Your tiny fists didn't do enough damage unfortunately.
Bellamy was trying to get between you both but you accidentally nailed him with your elbow as you threw another punch.
Your Ex managed to get another bad hit in. Little higher than the first one. You went down again, and you definitely didn't get back up.
The entire time this happened where was security? You hit the ground as soon as that main floor door opened up to the stairwell. Security grabbed your ex and Murphy managed to gain enough strength to carry you to his car. He didn't want you to have to wake up and talk to police. God knows how he talked security into letting him take you away.
About an hour later you woke up in Bellamy's bed. Nice dim lighting for the headache he knew you would have, and a glass of water on the nightstand.
You didn't know where your phone was and you knew getting up would hurt like a bitch so you continued to lay there. Maybe 5 minutes have passed when Bell walked in.
"Good to see you're awake" he spoke so soft
"Good to see you're alive" you responded.
He sat next to you and helped you sit up and drink some water.
"I guess I owe you an explanation" you sighed
"Don't worry about it, Murphy already told me everything." He rubbed your leg
Silence filled the room for a good few minutes before Bellamy finally worked up the courage to ask.
"But. Did he really have a reason to be jealous?"
You stared at him. "Not that I tried to make obvious" you chuckled a bit
"In all seriousness, do you feel anything. For me?" He asked
"Bellamy Blake. I have since the first grade" he couldn't see that you were shaking in fear of him not feeling the same
"Really?" He asked
You began to worry, eyes tearing up
"Because I have since kindergarten." He smiled.

So We Endure - Chapter 3: Times of Change
A/N: Yet another chapter of heartache. I’m going through a bit of a writer’s block for it, so next post I make will probably be a Connor smut I’ve been cooking up for a while! As always, this fic has a playlist (made by me) here
Word Count: 4k+
Tumblr media
“What do you mean I’m out?!,” you screeched, eyes watering as a painfully cold grip took hold of your heart.
Mr. Jackson — Jack, as he liked to be addressed to — sighed wearily, cleaning one of the various pints of beer behind the counter. “It is what I said,” he shrugged, not looking you in the eyes. “Your out.”
“Jack, you can’t do that!,” you pleaded, pointedly ignoring the looks some of the early in customers shot you.
“Already did,” the man put the pint down, picking up another one. “Don’t need myself a singer who’s gonna whore herself out to my customers and have them never come back,” he stared you down, expression bitter and anger barely contained. “Shoulda said so before, that your a whore. Woulda treated you likewise.”
You felt the world stop around you, a shiver of fear running down your spine. The squeezing of your heart tightened and you leaned in towards the man. “Jack, I have a son. I need this job, I have to keep him fed and—“
“And on your way to a new one, I see,” he spit the venom casually, not minding the tears gathering at the corner of your eyes. “Shoulda thought ‘bout him before, eh?”
“Nothing happened, Jack! For fucks sake!”
“Yeah, right,” he cackled at his own inside joke. “Outta here with ya. Already hired a new girl, don’t need ya makin’ a scene now.” The man picked another glass up, polishing it without really watching he was doing, “and to think one day I hoped to get it on with ya…”
Humiliated and wrecked, both emotionally and physically, you hunched your shoulders and allowed yourself to cry quietly before being shunned out of the pub. As much as you hated the job, it was what had kept you and Charlie relatively warm at night; with a roof over your heads. You risked a look at one of the clocks on your way home — a quarter after 6 — and tried to think positively. The rent was paid. You had money for the next one, it was okay, if you tightened the belts. There was food at home, you’d get to spend some time with Charlie—
It all felt like a bad joke on you.
The door whined and creaked as Mrs. Dolloway opened it, letting a small gasp of surprise get past her thin lips. “Oh dear!,” she put a chubby hand against her cheek, “ya certainly dropped by early today! I wasn’t expecting ya around ‘til half past nine or so, girl.”
You forced a smile, fidgeting with the tattered cloth-bag in your hands. “Yes, I… got out early.”
Mrs. Dolloway frowned at you, closing the door a bit as she leaned closer to you so the kids wouldn’t eavesdrop. “What happened?”
Closing your eyes, you sighed and twisted your lips as if tasting bitter medicine. You never managed to lie or cover things from your neighbor — and possibly best friend —, as much as you wanted to. She didn’t need to worry more than she already did. “Dolls, really…”
“Dontcha ‘Dolls’ me, girl!,” she pouted, a slight rise of color coming to her complexion. “Come on, out with it. Ya can tell me things, ‘m not made of glass!”
You huffed out a laugh, shaking your head. “Jack fired me today.”
As expected, the woman gasped indignantly. “Whatever for?!”
“It doesn’t matter, really,” you cut in quickly, eager to change the subject. “I’m already looking for a new job.”
“This close to winter? Best thing ya gonna find will be laundry work, probably worse,” she stressed, brows knitting together in worry. “Want me to ask aroun’?”
It wasn’t entirely fair, you knew. You already felt like a parasite with all the help people offered so freely — the guilty pang of Mr. Fry—Jacob’skindness still all too recent in your mind. Drawing your lower lip into your mouth, you bit nervously on it. “If that isn’t a bother, Dolls—“
“Silly girl,” she stopped you before you could finish. “Silly, silly girl.” The plump woman closed the door behind her, pulling you into a tight motherly hug; her soft hands smoothing your shoulders lovingly. “Already taken care of, I tell ya. Stop worryin’, eh?,” she whispered as you awkwardly wrapped your arms around her.
“Thank you,” you offered meekly, allowing the tears to well in your eyes, “thank you so much, Dolls. I just—“
“Hush now,” she pulled away, patting your face gently. “Don’t ya dare go all soft on me now, we still have to talk, eh?,” she smiled. “I asked Tommy what happened that day n’ I think ya should talk to Charlie too.”
“I tried, at the park,” you confessed, leaning against the railing of the stairs, “but it didn’t feel right, at the moment. Didn’t want to make him get antsy on me while we’re out, you know?”
Mrs. Dolloway nodded sagely, but it didn’t seem to smooth her ruffled feathers. “When you can, then. Sooner than later, is my advice.”
You frowned. “What did Tommy tell him?”
“Charlie?,” you called softly, drying the boy’s hair with a towel. He answered by turning around and looking you in the eye. “Mummy loves you very much. You know that, right?,” and upon his nod, you took a breath in before continuing. “Remember last time I fetched you at Auntie Doll, you and Tommy had a fight?”
Your son’s face scrunched up and he cast his gaze down with a slight pout. “It wasn’t my fault,” he offered, although hesitantly.
“Mummy knows,” you said, sitting beside him at the bed, back resting against the wall as you appraised the boy. “I just want to make sure you’re not holding things back from me.”
Charlie’s lips twisted a bit, as he seemed to fight an internal monologue with himself. “I just…,” he fidgeted with the edges of the shirt you had finished fixing. “Tommy said our family is daft.”
“Daft?,” you prompted him on, already knowing the answer.
“Yeah,” the boy agreed, picking at his nails. “Because I don’t have a dad.”
You had been preparing yourself for this talk, but that didn’t stop the cold drop in the pit of your stomach. “And what do you think about that?”
Charlie frowned, looking at you as if he hadn’t fully grasped what you had asked. “Tommy asked me if I had a daddy…,” he started, although hesitantly, “I said no, because that’s what you told me,” Charlie cast his eyes down once more before talking again. “He said that’s dumb, that everyone has a daddy, but I said I didn’t n’ he told me our family is daft,” he started crying, shaking slightly, “’das why I hit ‘im. ‘M sorry, mummy.”
“Hey, now,” you called in, opening your arms for a hug, “our family is not daft. We love each other a lot, don’t we? Isn’t that what matters?”
The boy sniffled, moving closer as you allowed him to rest upon your chest. “But he’s right,” he mumbled quietly, “it’s true.”
You pressed your lips together, smoothing his hair and trying to hold back your own tears. “Don’t you like mummy, baby?”
“It’s not that,” he said, voice brittle with emotion, “I just…,” a quiet sob, “I wanted to have a daddy too.”
Silence grew heavy, broken only by the sniffling and sobbing from your son; and all you could do was hug him tighter.
Thursday morning came slowly, daylight barely making its way through the fraying edges of the ruined curtains. Days were growing colder with the approach of winter; you registered distantly and stretched, burying your face into the thin pillow as the tell-tale sounds of town started rumbling around you. Job hunting hadn’t been going the way you wanted — after walking around for 3 days straight, until your feet ached and chaffed in your boots, you came to the grim conclusion that Mrs. Dolloway had been right to some degree, because even the laundry houses and the few factories that offered jobs year-round were overstaffed.
At some point, you started doubting if there really had been such a sudden shortage of jobs around the slums or if people were simply avoiding you. Everyone loved to gossip around here, even if most tended to show you their kinder side; there were still the ones with venomous tongues and ill spirits, who’d pounce at the opportunity of pointing their fingers at you in a heartbeat.
You wondered if Mr. Jackson was to blame or if your poorly-thought-through display with Jacob earlier on Sunday to the bus stop had had anything to do with it.
Universe definitely wasn’t kind.
Charlie stirred against you, sleepy murmurs stopping as soon as you rubbed his shoulder. The boy was a blessing, truly, and you didn’t regret it; not him. He wasn’t to blame for anything. You closed your eyes again, opting for sleeping in for a bit more today. It wasn’t like you were to change anything and magically find a job today after leaving no rock unturned last few days. Sleep crept slowly, its pull gentle and sweet and—
A knock.
A knock?
Frowning, you sighed; halfway hoping it was your imagination or for another floor. You opened your eyes, resting a tired gaze upon the weathered wooden door. Someone — a male voice, you recognized — called your name through it, now knocking more insistently which made Charlie groan and turn to bury his face into the mattress.
“Heavens…,” you whispered, slipping out of bed, careful not to wake your slumbering son, to answer the door. It couldn’t be Mr. Ross, you had paid the rent on time yesterday and Mrs. Dolloway usually wasn’t up this early. “Who’s it?,” you inquired quietly, hugging yourself to retain the warmth from the bed.
“Jacob,” the voice answered, sounding far to anxious to belong to the same calm and confident man you who’s had tea with you in the kitchen last Sunday. It was early, you frowned, much too early than what proper education demanded to a breakfast visit, and it made you feel uneasy. What on earth did he want? Then he called your name again, “will you open up?”
Pressing your lips together and sighing resentfully, you unlocked the door and Jacob wasted no time at slipping in and closing it behind himself. “I— Jacob, I have never—“
“I know, etiquette be damned,” he spoke hastily, taking off roughened up cap that matched his outfit. No top hat today?, you thought to yourself. “But— I swear, as soon as I heard about it— Wha— How— Uh… you… you were fired?,” the words tumbled out of his mouth, tripping on each other as he cast a worried gaze at you; a wild look in his eyes that made you wonder distantly if he had slept at all.
“Jacob.”
“Are you okay?,” he continued, “do you want me to talk to Jack?,” the man asked now, pacing around the flat, trying to school his voice into something less anxious. “We can see to it, you’ll have your old job in the blink of an eye, I swear—“
“Jacob.”
He stopped, frowning and fixing you with a puzzled look. “What?”
“It’s fine,” you offered lightly, trying to force a smile into your lips. “I hated it there, either way. I’m a singer to some degree, it kept a roof over our heads for a while, and it’s okay.”
Jacob swallowed thickly, staring at you with a dumbfounded look. “You… Ah, you’re not mad?”
“Whyever for?,” your voice came out like a tired sigh. “It wasn’t your fault. If I am to blame anyone, I’d point fingers at myself for doing something so reckless and stupid—“
“You were desperate, there is a difference,” he quipped in, grimacing at the thought. “I’d have come sooner had you told me— why— why didn’t you tell me?”
You huffed out a laugh, crossing your arms in front of him. “Because I don’t know where you live, Jacob Frye. Much less how to contact you.”
Something seemed to click in his mind and Jacob scowled. “I’m sorry,” he offered, the high of his cheeks adopting an embarrassed shade of pink. “I feel like— I thought you’d have my head if I showed up here.”
Frowning as you moved closer to the kettle, you gave him a confused look. “Whatever for?”
“Because— well, because…,” he mumbled, shifting his weight from one foot to another. “I just...,” Jacob coughed, looking away with a somewhat relieved face and his shoulders stopped tensing up. Well, that went off terribly. “I thought you would be mad at me for making you lose your job that day—“
“You didn’t,” you said casually.
“—and I wanted to make sure you and Charlie were okay, so I just came flying here as soon as I could.” As you put the water to boil, he shoot a look at you that pleaded for something, even though you weren’t entirely sure what. “Are you sure you don’t want me to explain the situation to Jack?”
You splashed some water into the teapot. “I don’t want to have anything to do with Jack any longer, Jacob,” your voice came out colder than you intended and you tried to soften it a bit. “We had our divergences and he wouldn’t take me for my word,” you explained, opening the cabinet and pulling the tea box. You weren’t going to lie, seeing the kitchen cabinet filled with food like that eased the anxiety in your heart. “Besides, he’s a bloody penny-pincher and a pig.” At that, Jacob laughed and you turned around to catch his mischievous smirk at you. “Believe me, I’m better off out of there.”
“’Suppose I’ll have to find a new pub to drink at, then,” Jacob started, putting his cap back on, “because that new girl can’t sing for shit, I’m telling you.”
It didn’t surprise you, honestly.
“It’s not difficult to please the drunkards,” you shrugged, “a pretty face is all they need at some point,” after your jesting, noticing what you had said, you clapped a hand over your mouth and turned to give him a horrified look. “My apologies, I didn’t mean to—“
“It’s fine,” Jacob waved a hand dismissively, smirking as he walked closer to the stove and it occurred to you that he might be cold, without a thick coat on, “you can speak your mind around me,” he threw a few coals into the stove, proceeding to rub his hands together for warmth. “Besides, it was funny, and I believe I did tell you etiquette is not my best trait.”
You fidgeted with the kitchen rag in your hands, scoffing at his commentary. “Yes, I’ve been told.” As much as you hated to admit, you wanted to have someone’s company— needed it, really; someone who wouldn’t fuss and ask questions you didn’t want to answer, and last time had proven that Jacob wasn’t unpleasant at all to talk to. You shoot him a glance, trying to sound nonchalant. “Would you like to have breakfast with us? I was just about to start cooking.”
Jacob tensed, looking at you as if you had just told him to leave the flat, giving you a piercing gaze that deeply unsettled you; as if he could see through your lie. “That’d be lovely,” he blew into his hands, a smile already plastered upon his face, “thank you.”
Nodding, you turned around to cut up the cheese and bread — it was still so soft it made you wonder if Jacob bought it the same day it had been baked. Walking around, he got rid of his cap, putting it over the table, and asked “are you still looking for a new job?”
It was bound to happen, sooner or later. “Yes, although not with much luck, I’m afraid.”
“Oh?,” Jacob prompted, coming up next to you and pulling the same two mugs you had used to drink tea last time from the cabinet. It made you itch uncomfortably, for some reason.
“No one would hire me,” you explained, giving him an exasperated look that suggested you weren’t overly fond of the topic. “Not even the washhouses or the coal factory.”
Jacob hesitated for a second, looking mildly guilty. “I can help you, with anything you’d like.”
Just as he never ceased to surprise you, the annoyance seemed to come along in equal measures. You started to regret the invitation.
Turning around for a second, you offered him a disinterested “oh?”
The man shuffled awkwardly, giving you a pained look. “What I mean is… I can… help. More, is what I’m trying to say.”
Not knowing what to do with the silence, you allowed it to stretch a bit. “That’d be nice of you, but what I really am looking for is a job, Jacob.”
Jacob nodded, looking away with furrowed brows and as if he wanted to say something else; but ultimately stayed silent. You were somewhat thankful for it, but wouldn’t settle for having someone else paying your bills; you’ve been able to make things right up until now. The quiet that grew in the room evoked a heavy cloud of uneasiness and you wondered just when Charlie would wake up.
As if on careful coordination, a sleepy “mummy?,” called from the bedroom and you sighed in relief.
Offering Jacob a somewhat apologetic look, you hurried to the bedroom — which wasn’t really that far away, “hey, baby…,” you whispered, bending slightly in order to caress his head, “are you hungry? Mummy’s making breakfast now.”
Charlie yawned, turning to press his face into the mattress again and stretching out his arms for you to pick him up. “Are you going out today?,” he asked when you fixed him against your hip, resting his face against your collarbone.
“I don’t know yet,” you answered truthfully. “Let’s eat first, yes? We have a visit over today.”
“We do?”
You nodded, rubbing his back a bit. “Do you remember Jacob?”
The boy stayed silent for a moment, mind still hazy as he tried to recall where he had heard the name before. “Jake?,” he asked, looking at you with a confused look, “the magician?”
“Jake the magi—,“ you cut yourself, laughing softly, “yes, the magician.” Charlie’s eyes widened a bit, letting go of the heavy lidded look he was giving you. “Why don’t we go talk to him, mhm?”
He shifted a bit in your arms, as if embarrassed, until ultimately agreeing; although hesitantly. “’kay…”
Turning around to leave the bedroom, you caught sight of Jacob watching you with an expression you couldn’t exactly pinpoint; but it didn’t look bad on his face, you decided ultimately. The softness in his eyes made the hazel stand out against the olive skin and you wondered what he must’ve been thinking.
“Hey, sport!,” he called cheerfully, waving a hand at Charlie as the other took a hold of the backrest of a chair, “thought you’d sleep in forever.”
Charlie got flustered, resting his head against your chest in a gesture of comfort. “Hey,” he answered timidly, fiddling with the frilly neckline of your dress.
“Now,” Jacob started, approaching you both with a disarming smile, “I have a little something for you today,” the smile broadened when he saw that it had caught Charlie’s attention, “I wonder if you’re gonna like it.”
Your son looked at Jacob curiously, weighing his next words carefully. Charlie had never been very talkative strangers, but seemed to be growing out of it at times; with moments where he oscillated between both before ultimately making up his mind about the person. “What is it?,” he inquired, starting to develop a mild interest at the promise of a gift.
“Oh, I’m not really sure,” Jacob frowned, crossing his arms rather hilariously. “A little bird brought it to me and said it was your favorite.”
“Don’t be daft,” Charlie spoke in a half amused and surprised voice, “birds can’t talk.”
Jacob smiled at him, looking at you briefly. What Jacob lacked in etiquette and good sense, he made up with the way he got along with children — Charlie, in particular. You still weren’t entirely sure about him, but allowed yourself to be swayed over the attachment your son seemed to have developed over him.
“Well, you got me there,” he said, touching his chest lightly, “but you forget I’m a magician. I read it in the bird’s mind, actually.”
“No way!,” Charlie exclaimed, pushing away from your body and getting rid of whatever traces of sleepiness remained in his face, “really?!”
“Really!,” Jacob assured
He seemed to think on that for a few seconds as you shared a knowing look with Jacob. “Can you read my mind?”
“Oh, I can only read bird’s minds,” the man answered simply, “but I bet you’re still thinking about what the bird told me to give you.”
“Wrong,” Charlie giggled childishly, “I was thinking about what color your talking bird is.”
“See?,” Jacob gestured towards himself, as if resigned, “only bird-thoughts for me.”
“I want to know its color!,” Charlie protested and you giggled at the demand.
“Didn’t you tell me it was a blue one?,” you asked Jacob with a fake confused voice.
Jacob looked up at you, surprised at your input, but played along, “ah, yes,” he agreed, “a little blue bird asked me to give you this as a gift.” At that, the man pulled out the thin package from the insides of his coat.
“What is it?,” your son asked suddenly, twisting out of your arms as he leaned over and you were forced to put him down.
You looked at what Jacob had in hand — a bar of chocolate, of all things, and you were surprised the man even kept such a thing in mind. Smiling, you settled your gaze upon his face, at the pleased expression that spoke volumes of his character without the need for words.
“Chocolate,” Jacob explained, raising a finger before the boy could freak out, “but you gotta eat breakfast first, okay?”
Charlie pouted a bit, looking mildly disappointed even as Jacob offered him the candy. “Not even a piece?”
You supposed you owed him that much. Pretending not to pay attention at the exchange, you moved towards the stove and took the kettle out of the fire, pouring the fervent water into the teapot at the well-known ritual of making tea.
Looking over his shoulder — as you saw from the corner of your eye —, Jacob leaned down and whispered something to Charlie, who nodded eagerly, and gave him the candy back. You pretended you didn’t hear the clear sound of paper being unwrapped and the pleased giggle of your son as he rushed towards the bedroom with what you hoped wasn’t the entire bar right before breakfast.
“You shouldn’t have,” you whispered, voice softer than before, “you’re spoiling him.”
“It’s fine,” Jacob interjected, “he’s a kid.”
“Kids need to eat proper meals,” you huffed a laugh, looking at him as he leaned back against the counter beside you. “Thank you, though.”
He broke a piece of the chocolate and offered it to you. “You don’t have to thank me,” Jacob smiled when you took it, the candy melting a bit at where he had touched. “I’m glad you appreciate it, but you know that’s not what I’m looking for.”
You nibbled at it, reveling in its sweetness. It had been ages since you had had any chocolate and it was equal measures refreshing and heartwarming. “I hope you didn’t go out of your way for that,” you pointed out, fixing him with an amused look.
Jacob scoffed, breaking a small piece for himself, “no, I just happen to be a fan of chocolate myself,” he confessed, waving the still-considerable-bar in the air. “This is from my personal stash, actually.”
A stash. Again, the question about just who this man was nagged at the back of your mind. Chocolate was no cheap treat. “Don’t spoil him,” you looked at Jacob, stirring the infuser inside the teapot, “he’s too young and impressionable. Reality isn’t…,” you trailed off, lowering your head and staring at the chocolate in your hands.
“Reality isn’t what?,” Jacob called out, goading you on.
Sighing, you let go of the candy. “Reality isn’t this; random strange benefactors showing up at your flat,” you picked up the teapot, setting it over the table and moved towards the counter again, “with chocolate and food and offering to pay off your rent,” grabbing the piece of ham, you set it on the cutting board, “and wanting to give you money for whatever the reason!”
Jacob weighed your words, unmoving, and it both astounded and annoyed you in equal measures how he didn’t even flinch. “What is reality, then?”
You put the knife down, feeling the wet hot tears of anger welling up in your eyes. “It’s struggling,” you answered in a cold, matter-of-fact voice. “You work hard to gain your money, see that it’s not enough and you worry. You pay rent on your own, you buy food on your own, you teach your kids why’s that they can’t have a new toy or a pair of shoes on your own,” wiping the tears away, you fixed the man with a harsh stare, “that’s what reality is, and it’s not kind.”
He stayed silent for a short while, seeming to be mulling over what you had said and you were thankful for it in order to recollect yourself. “Maybe it doesn’t have to be that way,” Jacob whispered above the crackling of the fire and the distant chatter of the streets, “maybe fate has a kinder outlook on life than what you might be used to.”
Hesitating as you steadied yourself against the counter, you thought on what he had said. “It’s…,” stopping, you fixed a strand of hair behind your ear, “…a nice fantasy,” you decided ultimately, setting the plate of sliced ham on the table. The flat felt eerily quiet now, the tension in the air drowning out the sounds of the outer world. “But I won’t wait for it.”
It was a while since Jacob had been around.
Deep down, you feared you had been too harsh on your words; but in your defense, you were on the edge for days on end, looking for jobs that didn’t exist with people whispering behind your back in accusing tones; not to mention the whole situation with your son, now that he didn’t want go to Mrs. Dolloway’s. It wasn’t one of your best moments, you knew, but you couldn’t help but to lash out at anyone who pushed your buttons.
Sighing, you shook your head slightly, stitching a button into one of your worn out shirts. You wouldn’t be surprised if the man never showed up again; it had been almost a week, after all. You had paid rent with whatever was left of the money he had given you so freely before — under the doubtful gaze of Mr. Ross, who didn’t ask where you were getting those shiny new coppers — and feared what might come to happen if Tuesday came to be with you penniless.
Maybe you could sell one of your things, but what? You didn’t own anything but the necessary. It had been that way since father passed away, and—
No.
It wouldn’t do you any good to dive into painful memories and replay things over and over — you had to push forwards, no matter what.
With your mind set, you decided to get rid of the armchair if things didn’t improve soon. Nodding at your own decision, you looked over at the bedroom where Charlie slept soundly; lulled into sleep by the yellowish glow the fire from the stove cast into the walls of the flat. You couldn’t help but feel your heart squeeze tightly for him, as if someone had taken hold of it.
And that’s when frantic knock came down on the front door.
Startled, you hurriedly got up on your feet in order to stop the hellish noise before it woke your boy up. Muttering low curses, you went for the door and yanked it open with furrowed brows, only to be face to face with Jacob — a sweaty, red from exertion, with a manic smile Jacob.
“You won’t believe this!,” he started, letting himself in as he pushed the hood down from his face.
You were dumbstruck. He couldn’t be serious. “Jacob, you better have a good reason—“
“To come here in the middle of the night?,” he cut you, stepping closer and taking hold of your forearms with bare hands. “Believe me, I do!”
Curiosity spoke louder than the annoyance in your mind. “Out with it, then,” you spoke quietly, expertly shutting his mouth the moment he tried to speak again, “and try to be quieter, yes? Charlie’s asleep.”
Smiling wildly, Jacob leaned forwards — perhaps a bit too close than what you’d like — and whispered, “I got you a job.”
