Dofus: The Production - what is left of the old movie
Originally, the movie was supposed to tie in with the game and the Welsh & Shedar series, and be a trilogy.
As we had already explored on this blog, this did not happen for a variety of reasons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Welsh and Shedar got cannibalized by other projects due to its cancellation, and the script of the movie "Dofus Book 1: Joris Jurgen" had to be completely rewritten from its old plot;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In that movie, Joris was likely supposed to be a street urchin, who survived together with Lilotte, who was a rogue, and the trailer we have for the older version of the movie reflects that:
As we can also see from the trailer, and the poster featured earlier, proto-Kerubim is also a part of the movie, and Khan was not yet meant to be a boufbowler.
(And considering the posters, the cat that inspired Kerubim's design was also a part of the movie. I wonder if it's related to Welsh's cat from Welsh and Shedar? But maybe I'm just crazy.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Subsequently, the movie came out at a much later date than planned originally.
(two images included because, bizarrely, there are two versions - one with Joris's tail censored, and the other with his tail uncensored. This proves that already at this point they had a draconic backstory in mind for him, though we do know that at the time of Wakfu season 1 (and, likely, the cancelled DS game, as was noted in my post about it) it was not the case.)
Tumblr media
Also, interestingly, it is the only art of this time to include the tail. A possible error on Xa's part, or something that was considered very briefly?
Tumblr media
In the end, Kerubim (as well as Simone) swallowed up not just the design of Welsh's cat, clothes, and Ecaflip friend;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He also got the role Julith was supposed to have, both metaphorically, and also literally.
Tumblr media
Or not entirely — considering the fact that Joris was supposed to spend time with him anyway, since we have art of Joris on his mount from that old draft.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's quite interesting, to think of all that could have been different in the 2009-2012 version of the movie!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But even during the making of the second draft of the movie, a lot of things have changed. From the first idea of Joris winning Kerubim back at a pachinko machine, to the concept art of Joris's non-possessed appearance.
The movie was being actively rewritten at the time of the making of Aux Tresors, so some of the early drafts were already tied in with its canon — taking place in Astrub, to be specific — but not with its ending, because the show was still ongoing.
Tumblr media
At one point there was supposed to be a whole cast of Huppermage characters, and judging from the fact one of them is mentioned in the following text, they did play some sort of role in the plot:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is likely that from this early draft it was decided that Joris would be a boufbowl fan, which was then worked in as a plot point in Aux Tresors.
Tumblr media
(Stélina may be a proto-version of Bakara.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It also seems that at this stage, it would be likely that Lilotte was reworked to be the Princess of Bonta, before eventually becoming the Ouginak we know and love.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After this Ankama once again returned to the concept of Lilotte as an orphan, though — even when the movie was still set in Astrub!
Tumblr media
And it seems that the draft involved travel between Astrub and Bonta, judging from the usage of a Zaap to attack Luis.
Tumblr media
And even at this point they have come up with the tragically cut "Joris and Khan go to adult industry workers and Joris (10yo boy) engages in depressed underaged drinking" scene.
(I'll never forgive Ankama for cutting this. I still argue that it's in character for Khan, our detested/beloved turbovirgin, to do this — as long as he doesn't get together with any of the women due to thinking himself "too good" for them.)
Tumblr media
Also, at some point the gods were supposed to play a role. And personally, I am glad it was cut — it feels a bit too grand for the first movie in what was supposed to be a series.
I don't have any grand statement, or conclusion, but it is interesting to see all the ways the movie has changed.

How are you able to enjoy toxic/unhealthy/“problematic” ships/characters without feeling weird (for lack of a better word) about it?
I ask this because I want to be able to do this myself as it seems like a much more enjoyable way of engaging with fiction to me. I can get over some ships just being toxic and the characters not being good together and still enjoy their dynamic but I have trouble with the other ships that feel morally wrong. I know it’s just fiction but I can’t seem to get over the ick feeling I have when I think about those ships/characters. I feel like I’m being too puritanical about these things but I don’t know how to stop feeling like something is gross when I feel it’s gross…
Do you have any tips to stop jumping to moralizing ships/characters?
thank you very much for the ask, anon!
i'm going to be upfront that this reflexive gross feeling isn't something i've ever really struggled with - both in fic and more broadly. this is due to various personal idiosyncrasies, above all the fact that i've got disengaged boomer parents who didn't police our media consumption [my favourite book when i was eleven? lolita...] and that i'm a doctor, which is a profession which requires you to develop a very high threshold for what you find disgusting. the human body - at all stages of its life-cycle and its cycle of decomposition - produces a lot of different fluids... and it's also the case that [just as if you can think of it, there's porn for it] if an inanimate object exists, somebody somewhere has got it stuck inside them...
and so the situation that i find myself in is that i consider it infinitely less weird that i enjoy the odd bit of hot tomarrymort action than that i actively enjoy cutting through bone with a saw...
but, obviously, "get a medical degree" isn't particularly helpful advice...
i am a ride-or-die fan of the concept of stepping outside of your comfort zone. this is why i'm such an avowed multishipper - i think it's good for us as fandom citizens to examine the potential of our faves in relationships [romantic or otherwise] which are either not their canon endgames or which aren't our preferred pairings, and in situations which don't align with their canon experiences [whether that means making them suffer or giving them full-on fluff]. it draws out the multiple aspects of a character to consider them from these different angles - and it prevents us from getting so stuck in one interpretation of a character or configuration of a ship which means that it puts our backs up to stumble across stories which approach things differently.
but stepping outside of your comfort zone doesn't mean that you have to go enormously far. it may be that a reader decides - having only ever read teen-rated fics where characters' sex lives don't extend beyond hand-holding and forehead kisses - to take the plunge into an explicit piece filled to the brim with watersports and age play. it may be that a reader decides - having only ever read teen-rated fics for one canon pairing - to read a teen-rated fic for a non-canon alternative. both of these are entirely valid approaches.
by which i mean, our comfort levels and our thresholds for discomfort are subjective, they're personal. if there are ships or themes or characters you don't want to read about because they don't feel good... you're not doing something wrong if you avoid them. exposing yourself to fics you expect to make you uncomfortable can be useful - and fiction is certainly a way to explore discomfort which gives you much more control over the experience than encountering it in real life - but it's not something you're obliged to do to be active in fandom.
the thing you are obliged to do to be active in fandom is to be nice to other people, no matter what their tastes in fiction. this means, at its fundamental level, that when you see people who ship pairings or like themes which make you think "ew"... you keep it to yourself/the group chat rather than putting it on the timeline.
but, once this is something you've got the hang of [which takes a bit of time! but practice makes perfect!], something i feel can be a really useful way of overcoming a tendency towards knee-jerk moralising reactions is to just vibe in the vicinity of people you know like the content you instinctively feel is gross.
this doesn't mean you have to read any of this content - but you'll learn just by hanging out near them that the people who do are just... normal. one minute they might reblog a rec for a pairing you think "absolutely not" about, the next they might reblog a cat picture which makes you squeal with delight. you'll like some of their content, but not all. you'll agree with some of it, but not all. you might like progressively more of it as you spend time in their orbit - maybe they'll explain why they like the pairing or character in question and you'll think "huh, i've never looked at it like that" - or you might not. this is absolutely fine.
all of us - at one time or other - have made a black-and-white moralising pronouncement: people who think x are gross; people who like y are fucked-up, you'd never catch me doing z. and these pronouncements are different from our wider, societally-influenced moral codes - which are good things, otherwise we'd live in the purge - in that they're fundamentally ways for us to feel good about ourselves and our families and our friends by defining ourselves as better than a faceless other. we say "you'd never catch me reading that, it's foul" when we know [or think we know] that the friend we're talking to would agree with the statement. we are far less likely to say it if we know that the friend - whom we see as a human being who is beautiful in their imperfection and inherently worthy of love simply by virtue of being alive - was reading and enjoying that just the other day.
and so the best way to train yourself out of reflexively moralising ships or characters or tropes is to put a face to the faceless other who likes them. be intentional in sharing a space with fans of the stuff you feel uncomfortable with and, eventually, it just becomes background noise. you'll scroll on tumblr, say "well there we are, jane's written some more of her sirius/harry piss kink fic - although i'm not interested in clicking on it" and go on with your day.
because the other thing i think it's really useful to do is to train yourself into reframing your disgust as disinterest. there are plenty of things which i don't seek out to read - and some of these topics are completely benign and some are darker [i don't enjoy reading explicit non-con, for example] - but this is because i try to frame it as that i don't think these things would interest me.
this is still the maintenance of a personal comfort zone, but thinking of the content outside this zone as something you are disinterested in turns it into something neutral. when you think of it as something to be disgusted or grossed out by, it naturally provokes a visceral response which makes you look through a moral lens. thinking in terms of disinterest, instead, gives you sufficient detachment from this visceral response to recognise, interrogate, contextualise, and control it.
and - in time - this neutral reframing may result in you feeling more interested in taking the plunge into the ships and characters and stories you currently don't vibe with, once you don't have an instinctive disgust response as a barrier.
or it may not. and this is absolutely fine.

[design drawn by Peachy-cloudds]
My Personal headcanons for The Operator / Slenderman
[warning: a SHIT tone of writing almost sorry not actually]
The Main inspirtation is by the concept of a hivemind plantlike entity, Has this concept been done before for Slender. Yea, Am I still gonna use it? Yea 🤭 [i love eldritch plant beings they're so cool]
-
Tumblr media
In World Lore:
An extremely long time ago, A being of unknown origin manifested into the world, Simply appearing out of the blue. Being able to exist on all four layers of existence with no consequence for it's actions. Originally said to be an old folk tale elders would tell to children to scare them, The Operator, although known across the world as multiple names, Some extremely fitting while others were uncreative / unoriginal. The entity within the tale would maintain the same behavior in every culture that was made aware of it. Often stalking heavily wooded areas attempting to lure those who were unexpecting into the forest where it will stalk it's prey until they barely escape or become it's next meal. However even escape was never the last one would see the Operator. As it continued to stalk those who saw it relentlessly until it grows tired of the same torment. Or It claims another life. The operator was once said to be in many books recording folklore; however the pages and stories of encounters with it have simply been erased from existence. As if it tears the pages out itself. Wanting to remain within the darkness where it can watch and wait for those who are unaware.
-
Headcanons:
Spiders tend to make small nests in the small holes that are on slender’s body, These spiders due to long exposure can give you the drowning if they bite you
The Spiral in the center of Slender’s face can hypnotize it’s victims. In my canon it’s how Slender gains most of it’s proxies
The reason Slender can disturb cameras and cause them to break is because of the electric frequency it admits. Similar to how fungi also admit Electric frequencies and is also source of the strange staticy hiss that tends to admit and follow Slender around
Slenderman is just a fae of sorts [which is just a fancy way of saying fairies], The type of fae that typically kidnap children and eat them. In my HC I kinda like to think that it is considered to be one of the first mythical forest spirits [also implying that Slender is old as balls]
-
Tumblr media
The Drowning / Slendersickness:
The drowning is a form of “Sickness” one can get when being exposed to the entity known as “The Operator” for a long period of time. It gets its name due to the feeling of choking on water and lack of air in your lungs
Normally you’d have to be in contact or near the Operator to contact the drowning however if one is sick with the drowning the drowning can be easily passed onto you with or without knowing it. Another way to get it is if you are marked by the Operator which can give you Stage 2 Of the drowning within the matter of seconds. The sickness originates from Spores that come from The Operator which are a lesser version of the Operator's final stage "The Tower ''. The following symptoms include Violent coughing [to the point of blood], Vomiting, Violent hallucinations, Trouble breathing, Seizures, Violent outbursts / episodes and dissociating. To summarize it, A Lot of the time Sickness slowly but surely eats away at your humanity until you are but a husk of your former self, Causing you to become aggressive and violent towards others. The Operator then feeds off of the conflict and uses it to make it stronger
-
Tumblr media
[Hoody / Brian in the Ark As seen in Entry# 83 At 6:30]
The Ark:
In Later years The Operator managed to make it’s own personal realm, Made to store the souls of those it has killed [or by proxy] and to drive those who enter it insane. Playing hallucinations that are personal to everyone who enters until they either die or find an exit [which is nearly impossible]. The realm as mentioned stores souls of it that have been killed that are being fed on by whatever lies in the pit that resides within the middle of the Ark, These dead victims are often in a paralyzed state where they are unable to move or speak as they slowly but surely melt into the surface of the Ark slowly becoming apart of it. However The Broken are basically souls that the "Ark" isn't able to feed off of since they are impure, Of course the broken are basically just victims of the Operator that have cracks on their body like fragile glass in a way. These souls and bodies are also often use as infinite battery packs for the Operator, Feeding off of the souls makes them more Powerful, The More souls there are the more of a threat it can become
-
Tumblr media
[Example image I drew to help explain it kinda]
The Hivemind
The Operator has more than one variant that all act as a single hive mind sharing the same exact thoughts. The following examples are The Tower, The Drones and Hallucination
The Tower: The Tower is the main source of the hivemind, These variants are basically the "Queen Bees" that pop out smaller versions of themselves to scout for food and return it to the Nest. Towers often borrow themselves deep underground where they cannot be touched, often growing extremely giant, For example they can grow to the size of the statue of liberty before stopping. Their tentacles can connect to the roots of trees which allows them to shift the forest at their command, It's also worth noting that the hivemind all share the same thoughts
Drones: The drones are basically mini clones of the hivemind that are produced so the tower doesn't have to expose itself to the outside world and get injured or killed, Their goal is to collect food until the Tower is ready to bloom. But a lot of the time these drones will hypnotize people into doing their biddings for them which is considered to be the norm nowadays. It's also less stress for the drones incase they do not wish to be discovered by the outside world. Drones can also eventually grow into Towers if they live long enough
Hallucinations: These are as you expect, They're the dones way of messing with your head by haunting you and breaking you mentality. They often appear in hallucinations and aren't the actual drones themselves, The main way to tell the difference between a drone and a hallucination is by the color of their tie. Red means that they are physically there attacking you while black means it's not real
-
Tumblr media
[lazy doodle by me]
The great blooming / The arrival:
this event is pretty straight forward. So the main reason these towers need to collect so much food and souls is so that they can bloom, Their heads unraveling to reveal a black rose that shoots out a giant cloud of spores that will infect those whoever breathes the spores in. These spores have the regular side effects such as the drowning, However those who are infected with the Tower's Spores are a ticking time bomb waiting to go off. If one is infected long enough their heads will implode into a flower and spread more spores around them

Ok there’s this fic I read where Lucy doesn’t do the s class trials because she becomes the temporary guild master and it’s her building relationships with other characters and making sure Fairytail doesn’t fall behind and I was wondering how that would work in your redesign and rewrite of Fairytail? I think it would make her and Juvia closer and allowing her to become more confident in herself as a mage and leader! (Also jellal is in that fic and it’s so cool how the two interact and it gave jude a redemption arc)
So short of it: within my rewrite it wouldn't fit, but that doesn't mean it's not an interesting concept to explore!
Longer explanation, starting with why i'd keep lucy not staying behind and also explaining how it would effect her dynamic with Juvia if she did stay behind:
while it's been years since I watched Tenrou Island, so much happens in that arc that I feel Lucy being absent would make it feel incomplete. Mashima isn't the best at showing it but she is the main character and should he present for canon major events that happen throughout the show timeline.
I really loved seeing her bond with Cana and I think the tragedy of her being just barely too late to see her father again was one of the few heavy plot points we got that actually made me emotional (shocker most of those moments happened when lucy got actual focus.) I also like the idea of us getting a fair bit of chapters showing the people that stayed behind and what was going on with them to lead up to the tenrou crew returning. So I think not having major players for a bit of the series to allow the side cast to shine would be really cool.
That said: how would lucy staying behind and eventually taking over as guild master change things in my opinion. I think we'd see Lucy bonding with a lot of characters she has minimal interaction with. Macao being one as he'd no doubt be the one to acknowledge her skill and potiential. Since Lucy is so young even in canon I don't think she'd actually get the role for a few years. She'd have a proving stage where she showcases her skills and gains the guilds trust as an authority.
For juvia, I've always imagined Lucy was one of the people who encouraged Juvia to befriend Droy, getting him to teach her about plants as a hobby which leads to Juvia joining shadowgear. I could see Lucy actually kind of integrating into shadowgear in the absence of her normal team and running missions with them to both improve her abilities and help people. They started out on very rough terms due to Juvia's obsession with Gray, but with Juvia actively working to change herself and figure out things she enjoyed, I think Lucy's friendly nature and incredibly supportive attitude when it comes to creativity would've lead to a strong friendship and trust forming. Lucy likely being the first person Juvia makes something for.
Now I can't really speak on jellal because it has been a hot minute since I watched any of his arcs and I honestly just kind of thought he was so-so as a teenager (no hate, just wasnt personally for me. Its one of the reasons im lacking in content for him rn 😔). But I do know he really was lacking in interactions with anyone on team natsu outside of Erza, so him and Lucy would be very interesting to see unfold.
All in all fun idea to play around with but within how I imagine canon not for me.
Thank you for the question and I hope this answered things for you!

relationship asks: 40 to 50 for Portada?? emphasis on 48 bc potential Law interaction 👀👀 I’m sorry to hear that you’ve been down lovely :(( sending good vibes your way and there’s no way you can dodge them <33 -🍂
Aww thank you so much Alvita!!! I appreciate it a lot!! <33
40) What's a secret one would never tell the other?
Well, they know each other’s MAJOR secret (i.e. their parentage) and Yara also told Ace about what really went down on Phestris Island with Cipher Pol (when she acquired her Devil Fruit) so I feel like the secrets that they end up keeping from each other are really petty. Like, “I accidentally broke your favourite mug but you assumed Thatch did it and I never bothered to correct you because I didn’t want you to be mad at me”
41) If they had to spend a month apart, how would they fare?
They probably spent at least a month or more apart during Ace’s Blackbeard hunt (before the battle on Banaro Island and its, shall we say, “aftermath”) and while neither of them was happy to be apart from the other that long, they managed to cope alright. They had a piece of each other’s vivre card (Ace had folded his into the shape of a heart before he gave it to her) and could see that the other was doing well through that, and they wrote letters back and forth the whole time. Ace sent Yara a bunch of goodies from his travels, too. Mostly stuff he stole for her.
42) If someone else assumes they are romantic partners, how do they react?
I’m assuming this is before they’re officially together, back in the pining stage lol but Yara handles it with a shrug and a “he’s not my boyfriend, actually” (which Ace has to pretend doesn’t sting nearly as bad as it does). She gets a bit flustered, but is overall pretty good at keeping her racing heart under control (or at least not letting it show on the outside). Ace gets a lot more noticeably flustered. If he’s alone, he probably wouldn’t bother to correct the person (like if a merchant assumed he was shopping for a girlfriend) but if Yara’s there he’ll more vigorously deny it because he doesn’t want to make her uncomfortable— for awhile he just couldn’t fathom the concept of her actually liking him back (poor boy thinks he’s unlovable)
43) If someone else assumes they are blood relatives, how do they react?
They’d think it’s more funny than anything. They look nothing alike. It’d probably become an inside joke about how they wouldn’t wish that fate (being the child of [Ace’s father] or Mihawk) on anyone.
44) If they had to squeeze together in a cramped space, what would happen?
Poor Ace lmao he’s trying his best not to think dirty thoughts (especially before they’re together). If they’re together at that point, though, he might take the opportunity to make a suggestive comment. Depending on the situation, he might even get his wish lol
45) If one of them was in trouble, what would the other do?
Well, Marineford lol — there’s a reason their otp tag is “I’d burn the world for you”— Ace in a more literal sense because of his Devil Fruit, but there’s no lengths Yara wouldn’t go to in order to protect the light of her life.
46) If they could each have one wish related to the other, what would it be?
Yara wishes Ace would be able to fully realize and accept just how loved he really is so he can start to love himself and understand that his life has worth, his existence isn’t a crime, and he deserved to be born.
Ace wishes that Yara and Mihawk would repair their broken relationship and by extension that Yara would accept and embrace who she is. He wants her to find that sense of belonging that she has been searching for her entire life.
47) If they had to solve a complex puzzle together, how would it go?
Yara solves it. Ace watches with his chin resting on her shoulder making unhelpful suggestions and getting shushed in return lol
48) If they swapped bodies, how would they handle it?
It’s too bad Ace and Law never met in canon cuz they’re both gunning for the competition of One Piece’s Most Traumatized, Mentally Unwell Man lmao (Law would probably win on the virtue of Ace at least having Luffy as a surviving family member whereas poor Law lost pretty much everyone, including Corazon ofc) but let’s just say they get hit with Law’s Room powers and that’s how it happens (for the sake of this question I’m also assuming they get full access to each other’s Devil Fruit powers lol)
Ace and Yara know each other’s bodies pretty well so it wouldn’t be completely traumatic for them. Ace is mostly amused by it and spends most of his time playing around with walking through walls and sticking his hand into solid objects. Yara also takes Ace’s powers out for a test drive— she’s always wanted to know just how powerful he really is, so she definitely goes to stand over by the ocean and lets out a few “HIKEN!!!!”s, just for the hell of it. They’re both relieved when they go back to normal, though.
49) If one of them wanted to split up, how would the other react?
If it was earlier in their relationship and they came to the realization that they worked better as friends, they would be able to go back to that state without too much grief. If it came after they’d been together awhile, though, neither of them would take it well at all lol if Ace initiated it, Yara would become petty and angry and vengeful and tbh would probably never speak to him again. If it was Yara splitting up with Ace, then he would get extremely depressed. It would make him hate himself infinitely more than he already does— just another confirmation that he doesn’t deserve to be alive.
50) If they had to write their future selves a note, what would it say?
“Dear future Ace and Yara,
Wherever you are, we hope that you’re happy together and that you both found the peace you have been searching for. We hope that you’re able to fully accept the love that the other person has to offer, and that everything turns out okay in the end. Sometimes it’s hard to see that either of us really will have a future, considering everything we’ve been through, but we hope it exists, and that you found it in good health and spirits. That’s a lot of hope, but times have been dark lately and hope is all we have that we’ll come out the other side alright. But maybe, as long as we have no regrets about the way we chose to live our lives, then that’s all we can ask for, even if one or neither of us makes it out alive.
Here’s to the future, and to hope.
Present Ace and Yara.”
ask game here!

I consider you an authority on blood magic so I need to ask: do you think the Dark Ritual could be more of an actual ritual with casting and spell components and blood offerings instead of just boning?
I imagine any warden regardless of gender could be Kieran's parent if they only gave Morrigan a bit of their blood to put into the Old God Baby Soup
so, here’s what morrigan says about the ritual (using only the dialogue for a male warden to save time): “what i propose is this: lay with me. here, tonight. and from our joining, a child will be conceived. this child will bear the taint, and when the archdemon is slain, its essence will seek the child like a beacon. at this early stage, the child can absorb that essence and not perish. the archdemon is still destroyed, with no grey warden dying in the process.” the warden may respond “so the child becomes a darkspawn?” and she replies “not at all. it will become something different: a child born with the soul of an old god.”
sorry to rehash all this dialogue but i think it’s just easier to discuss if i have it right there. the premise of the dark ritual involves the conception of a child. morrigan’s use of blood magic here may be magically assisting to somehow ensure the child is conceived (wardens supposedly are unlikely to have children, probably even these fairly freshly recruited ones, not to mention that one of the potential fathers is in his early fifties), but otherwise she’s talking abt conceiving a baby in the expected normal biological way. it’s only when the archdemon is slain that the baby—or, not a baby yet, embryo, is that the word at this stage? less than that? whatever you want to call it—will absorb the old god soul essence. i suspect further magic is necessary to ensure it’s the baby not one of the grey wardens present who attracts that essence, and that that would be the actual ritual part of the whole thing that flemeth taught morrigan, but i can’t definitively say that’s true because morrigan’s not exactly explaining in detail here
anyway, my point being that what you’re describing would be a different and more groundbreaking ritual, where morrigan is capable of conceiving that child without, you know, the usual prerequisite of sex with someone biologically capable of getting her pregnant. in the game, that’s not something she’s presented as being able to do, which is why in the first place she’s making this whole pretty insistent argument for you to let her sleep with a man who depending on your setup she may or may not particularly like. that’s exclusively what she needs from the warden in order to do this ritual, so there can be a child in the first place. now, some people in their canon alter that, much like you’re describing, i know bi romance mods let any warden do the ritual, etc. etc. i don’t go for it personally but i support crimes against canon always and am here for u. so i guess basically i would say, the break from canon you have to add in here to facilitate that is that part of this ancient blood magic ritual knowledge also includes the ability to conceive a child between any two people, regardless of biological sex. it’s not what’s presented in canon as possible, but hey, your worldstate is your worldstate and it’s the fantasy genre. i do however think it would have a lot of knock-on effects as to how the ritual is treated and also that you would have to factor in wider alterations to morrigan’s behaviour to a female warden, which imo is clearly affected in comparison to a male warden not only by her perception of gender but also by her not having them always in her mind as a potential partner for the ritual

hi vic, im a casual mandalorian watcher so please yell at me if this is a stupid q but why did so many people not like season 3? and is din’s first name really djarin or did i get that wrong 🙃 (probably)
hello love! i love nothing more than talking about the mandalorian and the show’s connotation in the larger star wars universe so please ask away
i cannot speak for everyone but i will tell u why i personally did not enjoy it at all which was mostly the complete change in tone. now this is ME i’m talking about there were a lot of grievances about the season mostly that din was entirely sidelined throughout and basically relegated to a background character and lowkey turned into canon fodder imo in order to propel other characters to the forefront for the general audience which i feel was nothing more than a marketing strategy to later introduce new shows, movies etc. basically they turned the season into a stepping stone for what is now being called the “mandoverse” which will supposedly include a movie or some bullshit
honestly my gripe with it was not the new characters, i really like bo katan and her story and i wouldn’t have minded her taking center stage as much as i did if the tone of the show hadn’t so drastically changed. it jist literally felt like an entirely different thing we were watching - nothing to do with the series we’d previously seen, and what i loved about s1&2 and what i think a lot of people loved was the gun slinger / lone ranger father figure western vibes it originally boasted. it was somehow quintessentially star wars and also entirely far removed from the larger canon and it was just this story about this warrior and a little weird baby. all of that was entirely lost in season 3 in my opinion. it was no longer din and grogu’s story but merely a connection to the larger canonverse — the very thing that made it special for not doing at its conception
and i don’t even fkn know about his name HAHA so when they baptize grogu as a mandalorian or whatever the fuck they do at the end of the season they call him “din grogu” as he’s part of din djarin’s clan so everyone just assumed that meant din was not din’s first name and actually his surname and that djarin is his name name or whatever but i’m choosing to ignore that entirely idc what they meant and whatever they did mean is WRONG and what i think is RIGHT and that’s all i care about. his name is din and my character will be calling him din and that’s that on that !

HI ITS ME. GUY WHO HAS A LOT OF THOUGHTS ON MEAT!ROXY. despite how i. admitedly dislike how they HANDLED meat roxy, i cant help but hold a certain... appreciation? fur transmasc roxy. i dont know a lot of canon transmasc characters. most of the time the people i s33 even headcanoned as transmasc-... dont match my experiences. roxy has ALWAYS been my favorite. i love her xomplex relationship with rose and addiction and her friends. i could rel8 to being- idk if hyperfem is the word but? before i transitioned i was deff a very girly-girl. and in my early transition stages i really thought i was faking bc no one ever made content with characters like that./ i love roxy so much, and it was so nice to see my fave character being canonically transmasc, and it reely hurts to see people constantly talking aboat how much they HATE it. i get it! i get how much it sucks to have a popular hc invalidated! but... transmasc roxy has always meant a lot to me- in ways i cant explain w/o delving into some personal stuff. idk, i just. sighs. this came out a lot less coherrent than id like, but even tho i have troubles with how hs2/the epilouges were handled... i reely did like that. i think hs2 is a compilation of good ideas and wasted purrtential, and i wishmore ppl would try and explore that instead of writingmit off and criticizing efurryone who wants to engage in it
Yeah. The handling is definitely one of the biggest factors that ruins it. A lot of Post-Canon is hugely mishandled, and meat!Roxy is no exception to this. The other biggest factor that ruins it is that it was put in official material.
I obviously don't hate the idea of a hyperfeminine person realizing they're transmasculine, or a hypermasculine person realizing they're transfeminine. Those are real experiences that people have, and they deserve to be touched upon. People with those experiences get very, very little representation. I said this before, but I have no ill feelings towards people who like meat!Roxy. It lines up with some people's experiences more than some other portrayals of transition, and therefore some people will gravitate towards it because of its rare factor of relatability to them.
The thing about it is that the writers were never going to get the handling of it right. The Post-Canon writers are not good at their job, they have too much to live up to, and it really seems as though the move was made to spite that widely accepted notion that Roxy is a trans girl- something that has some very real backing within the text of canon. Transmasculine Roxy... Isn't an inherently bad idea! It really isn't. But it is a bad idea to not only confirm a character's previously up-in-the-air birth sex- something that directly goes against one of the most widely accepted transfeminine headcanons of all time- and then proceed to make that character trans in the other direction... While completely sucking the soul out of that character.
Transmasculine Roxy is a fine idea. It's just not one that's able to ever be comfortably explored in a piece of official material. It's perfectly okay for fanworks and personal interpretation, but it doesn't have a sound place in canon just due to the optics of it. It's just too contrarian. And while some people may not care, a lot more people will, and a lot more people do. Too many people care for it to be a good idea to canonize in any regard, no matter what level of eggshells the writers walk on.
And while that may seem like an apocalyptically grim statement to make... That really is just how writing for an audience works. It might suck sometimes, but it's how it is.
TL;DR: Yeah, you liking meat!Roxy is completely valid and I do not blame you whatsoever. More power to you! Major respect! It was just massively fucking mishandled, and handling it at all in official material was just a bad idea. It was a concept that was most likely born out of spite, and destined to fail. Justice for transmasc!Roxy, by the way. Why the fuck did they turn Roxy into an entirely different character? All the charm of Roxy's character was really just lost the moment they made 'em transition. That's one of my least favorite tropes ever. I hate it here.

Hi! I saw you were looking for song recs. Can I have some more details about the force quit AU so I can tailor song suggestions better, please?
YES OF COURSE! Fair warning this is a long boy post so be warned SLDFKJ
ok so basically the Force Quit AU is a generation loss au that is a bit self indulgent so bear with me here :D! The self indulgent bit is the addition of another character, Marvin! They are an ex stage hand and set designer for Showfall that was able to escape the company's mind control. They now work from inside the company to help others escape, including Ranboo and his friends. I've taken this little detail for myself and labelled it as Marvin's doing. So basically hes a little helper
Tumblr media
ANYWAYS! Force Quit follows canon pretty closely until around the end of The Choice. I have two ways this could go and I havent really decided on which i like better so I'll cover both!
Option 1 is that Marvin sneaks into the control room/heart of the facility as the voting is occurring. Before Hetch makes the call and pulls the metaphorical trigger to box Ranboo, Marvin comes up from behind Hetch and knocks him clean out with a length of pipe. Marvin then gets Ranboo down from where he is stuck and they both run like fucking hell. Both make it out of the facility.
Option 2 involves a little bit of context on some of the ideas I have about Showfall and the Security monsters specifically. So personally I call the Security monsters Taskmanagers! I think its fitting to name it after the computer program.
Additionally, you know Hetch's line where he describes the motionless Showfall employees? He says this: "My best guess is they were once people, and then something moved in and kinda repurposed them to be.. yknow, whatever the company needed."
So I took this and RAN. I came up with a concept that there is a stage before the Taskmanagers we see in Genloss. I haven't come up with a name for them yet. They arent really a "larval form" but more of a base form. Showfall either made a deal with some entity or experimented enough to create these creatures made out of wire and a tar-like substance. They use analog technology as "shells", sort of like hermit crabs. In addition they feed off of electrical signals.
I don't think that they're actively malicious, the company just uses them in an awful way. Anyways the employees will start out as normal people working their jobs. The masks have some filtering and control capabilities but no where as strong as Ranboo's mask since it's not directly connected to the body.
This can change though if the employee discovers something they shouldn't have or if Showfall just wants to do it. An employee can go through a process called "rewiring." There are several degrees to it ranging from a mild degree which involves the process of physically wiring the employee to the mask. This continues until the highest and final degree which is a full rewiring. A full rewiring is when an employee is offered to one of these little wire creatures. The creature, when prompted, will take the employee and inhabit their body. They will feed off of the brain's electrical signals and give Showfall direct control over the host's actions. There is usually no going back from this. This is also inspired by the scene in The Choice where Ranboo stabs an employee and wires come out instead of blood!
For Taskmanagers specifically I think they are originally the result of a botched Full Rewiring process. The host and wire creature did not react well and in turn created the Taskmanagers who are dangerous and actively hostile. Showfall, after accessing damages, realized they could purposefully trigger this botched creation and use them to their advantage, thus creating security.
SO, after that long explaination, onto Option 2! Sorry there's no easier way to explain this, trust me, I've tried.
So Option 2 involves Marvin somehow befriending a "defective" wire creature. Or, alternatively, befriending a defective Taskmanager. I really need to work on a name for the tiny ones gees- Anyways Ranboo is rescued here more by.. uh. Brute force rather than stealth. Here, before Hetch can pull the trigger, Marvin and the wire creature bust through a door or wall koolaid-man style and rescue Ranboo. Admittedly this option makes less sense but I'm still including it because I had the visual of the box beginning to close on Ranboo but two GIANT wire-y hands catch the two sides and WRENCHING it back open. I dont know thats just so cool to me I love big monsters!
Regardless of how the rescue goes, Ranboo escapes and is outside the facility. Marvin in hesitant to join him because of their ongoing mission to save as many people as possible. And Ranboo upon hearing this explains that Sneeg and Charlie are still trapped in there. Marvin is hesitant to believe either of them are alive but Ranboo begs them to at least check. Marvin agrees and returns inside the facility, leaving Ranboo with an address for a place he can spend the night in as well as a small two-way communicator.
Marvin enters back into the facility and discovers that both Charlie and Sneeg are alive. Charlie, however, being wounded by a Taskmanager, has some electronic bits placed into his abdomen. I am working on a design for him at the moment but here's what I'm using for inspiration:
Tumblr media
A green liquid-cooled PC. Please have fun drawing your own conclusions while I work on his design LSKDJF
Sneeg, while attacked by security, was not wounded enough to require any replacement parts. He just has a couple of large scars on his torso. The real damage was done during The Warehouse where he was "reset." When Sneeg was reset, he gained awareness of everything Showfall was doing. He could see the cameras and he knew none of this was real. But this comes at a detriment because while he now has an immense amount of "behind the scenes" knowledge about Showfall, Showfall has the ability to completely control him. I'm unsure if this denotes a full rewire or if Showfall is using some experimental remote technology.
Anyways when he was revived after being attacked by the Taskmanager in The Choice, the revival process messed with what the reset did to his mind. The connection between him and Showfall is a little glitchy now. He still has insider information but sometimes he can accidentally trigger a meltdown where he believes he is once again on stage in Showfall. This either manifests itself as that panicked state we saw him in during The Warehouse where he was given the wrong hat OR how apathetic he was immediately after being reset. His perception of reality is distorted as well. Sometimes he can almost predict something before it happens, almost like a sixth sense.
Ok so where was I?? Sorry I took a hard left into infodumping territory. I mean I already am infodumping but i did EVEN MORE! LSKJDFLSKDF
Anyways the AU from here, in short, is saving each member of the cast! Charlie and Sneeg stick with Ranboo and form their little trio. I'm not sure where Niki, Austin, Vinny, and Ethan fall in the AU yet but I do want them to be rescued as well. I just don't know if they will be in the main group after or not!
Ok hopefully that was coherent and not a boring read! But yeah thats the Force Quit AU I love this thing to death already its been occupying all of my waking thoughts! Yay :D!

One of my pet peeves in film is when a movie is good but it could’ve been great.
Spirited (2022) was an honesty brilliant concept and almost flawless execution, with some missed opportunities and one glaring fault. I wanna go over what I loved about it and what I would’ve changed.
This will contain spoilers.
First of all, I love that it’s a musical, and furthermore how much it embraces the fact that it’s a musical. I mean the choreography is incredible, and the music is catchy and doesn’t shy away from its musical theatre-ness at all. In fact, I could see this translating into a stage adaption really easily.
Secondly, I love the concept. Seeing the inner workings of the afterlife in this universe is fun, and adding the layer that the Ghosts of Christmas were once alive adds intrigue, and on top of that adding the element that the Ghost of Christmas Present is Ebeneezer Scrooge himself is brilliant. It gives new meaning to Jacob Marley running the operation, and seeing them working side-by-side adds some complexity to the relationship.
Speaking of I ADORE Patrick Page as Jacob Marley. He is the perfect fit for the role, both in his haunting form and out of it. I wish he had gotten more screen time in his chains and they hadn’t kept interrupting his song because you know he was cast for that deep, haunting voice of his and I wish we’d heard it more.
I think the secondary cast was very good. Past and Yet-To-Come were funny and Octavia Spencer was charming and lovely as Kimberly, it’s wonderful to see her in the role of the love interest. Clint’s family tugged at the heartstrings perfectly, and Ryan Reynolds played a very entertaining douchebag but secretly lovable softie.
I think the themes of this movie were a natural continuation of the themes from the original book and, while not always consistent with the canon of the original book, felt faithful in its message.
Here’s my main contrivance though. The one main thing I’d change if I were able to.
Will Ferrell was wrong for his role. For one thing, I personally don’t think Will Ferrell is very funny. On top of that he’s just not a good singer. Like, at all. I mean everyone in this movie was at least a little auto tune, even the professional singers, but even all the auto tune in the world can’t stop Will Ferrell from sounding mediocre at best. Fine for musical cameo, but not for a leading role. Additionally, he’s not a very good Christmas Present, or Scrooge.
I mean, it makes sense for Ebeneezer Scrooge as we see him at the end of the book to become the Ghost of Christmas Present. He’s awfully jolly after waking up. But at no point in this film is Will Ferrell playing “jolly.” Present should be big and boisterous and loud and the kind of person where you can’t help but smile when you see them.
Someone like Patrick Page.
That may sound out of left field but hear me out.
I know I already said he was perfect for Marley, and he is, but I think he would’ve suited the role of Present/Scrooge so much better than Will Ferrell does. Patrick Page has played Scrooge many times before so he has good experience with the character. While Page is known more for his cold, cruel characters he, plays warm, soft, and joyful well too. And this very movie is proof of that fact. I mean…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at that smile.
And perhaps most importantly, Patrick Page is fully capable of carrying a musical as its leading man. You know why? Cause he can fucking sing! Boy can he sing. And while the deep, gravely tone he’s known for may not be your first thought when you think Ghost of Christmas Present, it would work well for Ebenezer Scrooge, that’s for sure.
I know this movie is a comedy and Will Ferrell is a comedic actor, but honestly, I think this movie would work well if Present played a bit of a straight man to contrast with Clint’s constant jabs, with his joking being a way of him deflecting. That’s not to say Present can’t be funny, but I think Present being depicted as warmer, kinder, less witty and more of a guiding hand to Clint would make him a character you care more about and want to see succeed.

I know this fic is kinda old, but in your story with Canada and England visiting the exhibition you mentioned that England sees him as his ward, not his son, so is that because Canada used to be France's kid or something else going on?
You're talking about Industry and Grandeur, right? Sure, I’ll give you my thoughts.
Not sure when it happened, but there’s a trend within the Western fandom to portray England and Canada as having a father/son connection, and most of the fic writers I follow (and admire) do take that approach, so I realise I’m the odd one out. The entire “Lord Father” portrayal of England is wonderfully creative, interesting, and one I enjoy reading, I just prefer not to write it myself.
Personally I like to rely on canon when I write, though I don’t adhere to Hetalia’s comedic tone, but when it comes to the nature of established relationships, if I’m not writing a ship, then it’s simpler to stick to what’s already there. I even have trouble with AUs, and usually don’t go very far with them, certainly nothing beyond the concept stage. It makes my life a bit easier by keeping things as they are and I worry sometimes about making too many changes within my headcanons that might put someone off of my work, but that’s probably the anxiety talking.
I’ve also... struggled to see England as a fatherly figure, I suppose. It’s all to do with headcanons surrounding how these dirt creatures mentally age, how they view each other, how they see themselves, and leaves me wondering if England wasn’t just a “teenager” when he first found America, so in that circumstance, would he really see himself as a parent?
If I found a baby, would I suddenly decide to become it’s mother?
Sure, the nations know that they share a connection among their citizens, tied together governments, similar demographics, language, religion, etc. But also, especially for the European powers, in their past, a baby wasn’t really a good omen, right? One kingdom collapses and a new one takes its place. New identities, changed languages, a different ruling class, new laws. So... having a proper son or daughter, one that’ll inherit their lands, wealth, and people when they pass, is like a death sentence to them.
In human society, children carry on their parents’ legacy, but that’s not the case with England and Canada. If he (the nation of England) were to dissolve tomorrow, America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and all the rest would NOT inherit anything. No land, no life insurance, there’d be no reading of his will, he wouldn’t have one. The crown wouldn’t be handed down, it’d vanish, and then some other being(s) that represent the formerly English people would spawn spontaneously out of Stonehenge or some random village in the countryside, and they’d have their own names. They’d be the ones to succeed England, by taking his former lands, laws, and people. By taking them directly.
With that awareness, any kingdom wanting their own child wouldn’t be in their right mind, they’d be inviting their own destruction. I think if they came across another of their kind, as England acquired Canada and America, they’d much prefer to call them “wards”. Or siblings, at most. Because that’d give a sense of kinship while still importantly preserving their continued existence, keeping the colonies at arm’s length, and signalling: “We are close, and I care about you dearly, but you will not bring about my doom.”
(And sometimes I think that England had such a terrible childhood that he wouldn’t dare trust himself as a parent, wouldn’t risk the label for fear of complete failure. It’d be just another shortcoming that his brothers would mock him for. Too dangerous and too uncertain.)
Anyway, this ended up being much longer than intended, but I hope that answers your question. In my fic, England isn’t calling Canada his “ward” because of any background animosity towards France, but rather because it’s the label he’s most comfortable with. It’s safe and amicable.
Now, as I’ve said before, MY HEADCANON ISN’T LAW and I truly do love father/son depictions of England and Canada, so if you see them that way, just keep doing you, because diverse interpretations are the lifeblood of every fandom. I’ll continue existing as a bit of a black sheep with my ward/guardian portrayal, but if there’s something you want to add, my askbox is open and I’d be happy to hear it.
Thanks 💜

I’ve got a theory abt homelander—and this is partially canon bc like we see it played out through the show, but its interesting how he sort of shapes himself to be what the ppl he loves want him to be. Or rather what he thinks they want 😅 with stillwell, he was the most “homelander”, if that makes sense. An all american pretty face, saying his lines perfectly, pulling strings behind the scenes to try to achieve her ends. With stormfront, the violence becomes more blatant and extreme, and we even see it to a degree with ryan (because despite how badly he may have wanted a family, he sort of pulled the involved dad thing out of nowhere). It really speaks to his lack of identity, and its also sort of why i disagree with the extreme abusive yandere characterization a lot of ppl have w homie 😭 bc while he is unbelievably toxic and scary, i think he’s extremely cognizant of the ppl around him. If he truly loved someone, i dont think he’d go out of his way to hurt them (problem is, his concept what “hurting someone” actually means is… skewed, to put it nicely). But, more than anything, no matter what he says, he wants be loved. So he’ll do whatever it takes, be whoever he needs to be, to make sure that the people he loves love him, too. He’s mirrorball coded 😭😭 sorry for the essay, i just have many awful homelander thoughts and ur my fav homiewriter so u get the word vomit 🙃 hope ur having a good night!!
don't apologize, I loved waking up to this!!! I think you're 100% correct. homelander is a chameleon. he has spent his entire life adapting to what people expect or want from him. he was abused by vogelbaum, groomed by stillwell, and stormfront was also using him for her agenda. homelander has pretty exclusively experienced love as a transaction. he was drip fed affection in exchange for performing to the expectations of whoever's love he was seeking. I reeeaaaally wish they hadn't dumbed down his relationship with maeve. between all the deleted scenes and the bits of context we got, I feel like theirs was the most complicated relationship he had. I desperately would have liked a more nuanced take than the hamfisted comparison between them and soldier boy/countess. strongly agree that he wouldn't be overly physically abusive to anyone he was smitten with. stormfront had to bully him into throwing her around and even then he still paused or stopped every time he thought he actually hurt her. homelander doesn't need to use his strength to make a point. he's way more cunning than he gets credit for. this is a safe space for meta rambling, my sweet. I also firmly believe in homelander being deeply multifaceted. I tend to write him as initially standoffish, even hostile, and the kind of person to make pretty snap judgements about people. If he decides he likes someone, first comes fixation. it's not love, it's not kind, it's fascination. the next stage is infatuation. I think a key aspect of what you mentioned is 'if he truly loved someone.' I don't know if HE even knows what that looks like yet. he turned on madelyn because she lied to him, but he still mourned and deeply missed her. did he love her? maybe, but in his mind she committed too many cardinal sins. she lied to him, she was afraid of him, and she didn't love him back, which is the only thing he ever really wanted from her.

If your Headcannon is that the kwamis were not supposed to be seen by humans, do you think it has made sense for the weapons to be defined by the creator of the miraculous (the same as the Rooster's pen), or do you think the weapon should be created by the personality, influence of the bearer's experience or the person's best way of fighting? or anything else (if you can speak what you think of the previous ideas)?
Yessss lore questionss!!
Subtitled for convinience: :P
Weapons:
I definitely think weapons should be influenced by the wielder and the Kwami together. Although its not a concious decision, mind you. Its more of a reflection of the Kwamis purpose and the wielders unconcious beliefs or wants upon that.
For example, Marinette might have a yo-yo with the ladybug, but i like to imagine Nathaniel with one of those cartoon-esk hammers. Hes more forward in choosing violence than Marinette (based on that one scene i think in Zombi-zou where hes separated from a fright) while i like to imagine Marinette as more subtle than she is in canon (although it doesnt change her weapon) and they reflect their personality.
In a more direct vein a kwami may need to reflect talents or other aspects of a person: like the fox reflecting artisinal talents: I imagine Marinette with a giant needle, Nathaniel with a paintbrush (like amulet spade from shugo chara), I imagine Alya might still be proficient with a flute, and Alix would get spray paint (Magic spray painttt~~)
Its also possible a kwami might lean towards a need for transport: The goat being with Alix giving her chunky roller blades, strong enough to fight with ofcourse. But might give someone else a motorbike, maybe Marinette 🤔, or a bike for Luka (nothing too big or its just weird, and brings up magic questionss).
There are definately some kwamis that are more effected by the wielder or the kwami though, depending on the pairs connection.
There are also exceptions, maybe a certain aspects of a persons character is too hard to ignore? Like Lukas connection with music, hed get a guitar with the Bull. Maybe when Chloe looked up to Ladybug her weapon was influenced by that admiration.
Also! Weapons are summoned like magical girls, and can be put away the same. They are just an extention of the Kwamis energy anyway.
Hero Outfits:
100% influenced by a wielders unconcious wants or needs. If realising the connection, and communing with their Kwami, it is possible for a person to change it conciously, though not while its equipped, it has to be during the transfomation stage that its changed.
That is to say, generally they have to have atleast a small connection with the Kwami. Its nice to have a logo or an identifier. :P
Miraculous Jewlery:
Regarding the jewlery, these are created by humans. However, while i stand by that they arent meant to be seen by humans, that doesnt mean there arent exceptions.
Within humanity there are people with certain abilities, certainly not to the extent of Kwami abilities, but its already been proven that other kinds of magic exists. Luka can read peoples heart music or.. whatever, and it could be said that the icecream guy can maybe see strings of fate!
There are people who are clairvoyant, they may see ghosts, and there are some that can see kwamis not attached to miraculi!
The original jewlery were made by clairvoyants, being able to already commune with Kwamis made it easy to know they exist, and to know what kind of jewlery they want to be with, if any.
Being paired with a miraculous gives a Kwami a connection with the mortal plane, even if it gives the risk of a connection with a bad human (cough cough Gabe).
Although there are also times when a Kwami may not want to bond with the mortal world, so perhaps there are concepts out there are concepts out there without a miraculous to make them accessable to humans.
Infact, there may be kwamis unwillingly bound to miraculous. I imagine there probably are some humans that would do that if given the oportunity for superpowers... Though i dont plan to go anywhere with that idea as of right now.
Broken Miraculous:
OH! A kwami does not die if their miraculous is broken, they just loose access to the mortal plane- i.e. theyre like ghosts.
Hense why a person may get ill by using a broken miraculous, the connections not stable enough, it shakes a humans energy by interacting with something far more powerful and out of reach to them. Without the conduit that power is not stable in a persons body.

For the ask game : 3, 6 and 8, thank you very much for your enthusiasm and your passion!!!
YESSSSS!! I LOVE THESE!!
3. content wise- TRAUMA BABES. obviously y'all know my motifs by now, and what to expect from me because i'm still not going to therapy atm (don't yell at me, i know.) i feel like people might get annoyed that it's practically in every fic, but like. i'm traumatized so. you get what you get from that. i vent babes. i think just reading so much over time has shaped my writing, too??? i kind of like to think my writing is at times inspired by gothic literature or has the occasional dark vibe bc i love that aesthetic so much. idk tho y'all can be the judge of that, bc i try not to go too heavy on it so idk if it's noticeable.
6. my process is a bit everywhere tbh. so usually a fic starts as a vague concept or like... one line. i write that down first and then kind of build around it. i fill in the exciting parts that i know i'm going to have, and the climaxes of a shortfic or chapter. then i go back and add in the parts to make it flow and make it an actual piece. THEN i go back and embellish, check for grammar mistakes, cut things, etc. sometimes a fic just sits in the second stage for months until i eventually circle around to it. other times though, when i'm really inspired, i start from the beginning and just write it all the way. then of course, i come up with a title and description which are honestly the hardest parts.
8. I LOVE CANON WORKS. THEY MAKE MY WORLD GO ROUND. but... as you can tell... i love my aus. i try to keep characters' personalities true to the source material, but sometimes you just gotta make em pathetic meow meows. also given that my source material is heavily historical, i do change things around a lot to make them more my speed. so its fifty-fifty there i suppose
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THESE!! THEY'RE SO FUN!!

after a million years plus an addition million years post the show ending i am finally just now scribbling out my takes and stuff on fethry's immediate family a la how they would fit into dt17 canon
the breakdown in my mind is that all 3 of eider and lulubelle's children are Strange and Ambiguously Disordered (fethry taking the most after his mother) and also to some degree have inherited eider's legendary strength (abner being basically on par with his father and fethry as the baby and the runt of the three being much more close to just having normal person strength, though still a bit surprising for how noodly he is)
more specific points abt the family under the cut bc i dont want the post to be too long @_@
abner
definitely autistic (as 3 and also lulu are) but its like in that. i dont have healthy coping mechanisms to deal with how alienated from ppl i feel so im just gonna fish and carve wood and if anyone enters my space i will burn it down with both of us still inside it. way
that being said abner’s still plenty capable of being a compassionate guy deep down. he cares a lot about his family and takes whatever responsibility u entrust him with extremely seriously
comes off as emotionally stunted bc he doesnt really show affection in the “normal” way, including and especially physical affection and also. saying shit  out loud. he has his own love language its called * noncommittal groan of acceptance as you enter his house *
in my brain i know he should have a job but all i can think about is him fucking off in the woods so he doesnt have to talk with people. maybe one of those people who sit in towers all day to make sure forests dont burn down. i dunno
mary
loves acting and wants to be a professional stage/screen actor so bad but is unfortunately terrible at acting. probably been in like a few commercials or something
very very dramatic, im talking full comedy sketch of a julliard actor levels of melodrama and stage fainting, whether onstage or not. this makes it hard to tell if her reactions to things are genuine or not unless u are her brothers or parents who have been dealing with this forever
since the acting career is not really taking off Yet she has maybe ripped off 1 or 2 or 20 or so people maybe more just to keep the lights on. ironically when shes conning people she can actually act convincingly (my leverage fans out there. you know)
some of you will probably ask about dugan and while i do absolutely love dugan personally in my mind marys not ready nor interested in motherhood. so. maybe some day i will reveal my own dt17 dugan origin concept idk
eider
something of a local folk hero due to both his truly legendary strength and his equally strong inclination to lend his neighbors a hand, or really anyone else who may need a little help for that matter
as exceptionally goofy and loving as you could want any dad to be, though he can also be a bit stern when he needs to be, and a little prideful
in my mind i think it would be very cool if he had moved his family into granny elvira’s farm to give her a hand bc while shes a tough old woman everyone still needs a hand from time to time but i dont know if this contradicts any serious duck lore so forgive me
lulubelle
full loon baby ! none of this “looks like every other member of clan mcduck” shit !!! yes this includes the blood red eyes #epicloonwin
many make the mistake to count her as an absent minded spooky insane woman but this could not be further from the truth. she is very sharp-witted, observant, and is only spooky simply because its pretty near impossible to creep or gross her out, and even harder to full-on scare. and also because she makes long uninterrupted eye contact all the time
fethry definitely inherited a lot from her, but one of the main things they share is the tendency to cycle through all kinds of seemingly unrelated hobbies and interests; but much like fethry’s chief passion seems to be marine biology, lulu greatly enjoys botany and all it’s practical applications, as well as music
