#i just felt like tackling their relationship itself

Okay, how about Trans Bryce Wayne, but she gets pregnant with Dick? Like she's hired as a surrogate for the Graysons and they keep in contact, showing her pictures and they tell Dick when he's around Bryce's age (when she lost her parents) the day before the Graysons themselves die about Bruce being his biological mother and maybe just happy ending with Bryce hugging her son?
Dick takes it better than the Graysons would've expected. He knows that no matter who gave birth to him, that they're his parents. Only to lose them the next day.
Or you could make it angsty and have him take it as a betrayal. That he's not actually their child. That their relationship is built on mistrust. And when they die the next day, he realises that the last thing his parents thought about him was that he hated them when that was the farthest from the truth.
Either way, the Graysons die and Dick is taken in by Bryce. She doesn't know that the Graysons already told him and feels like telling him now would be too much for him. Dick thinks that she's not bringing it up because she was only alright with his existence when other people were raising him.
The first few months of her taking him in are tense. They both just can't overcome the invisible hurdle between them. Bryce is caring and there for him completely but she doesn't want to replace his parents. And despite Dick not wanting to, he's getting attached too even though he thinks everything she's doing is just for show and not out of love.
It comes to a head when, because of a nightmare, Dick wakes Bryce with his screaming. He's tried to but he's still not good at muffling his screams and sobs. She asks if she can come in and when given permission, the first thing she sees is her son ward curled up fetal position and shaking. He doesn't know it but she's trembling too from seeing him in so much pain.
He's mumbling something when she sits next to him. She asks him to repeat himself and has to suck in a sharp breath when big, teary, blue eyes are turned on her with a trembling lip and flushed cheeks and he murmurs "d-did you ever truly want me?" And it all comes pouring out in a storm of tears, snot and sobs.
Bryce is stuck in some sort of limbo for what feels like hours but is actually seconds. To think that her baby ward knew that she gave birth to him and had been suffering in silence this entire time. That he believed that she took him in cause of everything except love. He didn't know that she had loved him ever since she had held him in her arms, covered in sweat and blood. That her love only grew with every picture sent to her by the Graysons.
She gathers Dick in her arms, similarly to how she once did, wipes away his tears and for the first time, she's completely honest with a person who isn't Alfred or her parents. She tells him that she has no regrets on taking him in, that she didn't know he knew about her being his biological mother, that she would've been in his life a lot earlier but her and the Graysons agreed that he would meet her once he knew the truth.
She also lets him know that he's under no obligation to see her as anything more than his caretaker. The Graysons were there for him and will always be his parents and she respects that. Needless to say, they end up with tears running down both their faces, feeling lighter and cuddling together in Dick's bed. Dick is still mourning and Bryce is still a new parent with a traumatised child but they're willing to work with eachother now.

✨ Big Comic Recommendation List! ✨
I’ve been wanting to compile some of my favorite comics into one big list in no particular order for a while. Again, I just want to reiterate that I’m in no way any sort of comic critic and all of these are just books that I personally enjoy, and if they seem up your alley I hope you’ll enjoy them too!
I also want to state that these are definitely more adult oriented books and not for kids. A lot of these stories have pretty graphic violence and tackle more adult topics like sexual or physical assault, so I’ll also be putting content warnings for where it applies.
1. Afternoon at McBurger’s by Ana Galvañ
Tumblr media
Afternoon at McBurger’s takes place in a bright, colorful future where a group of young girls finally have the opportunity to participate in the Once Party provided by McBurger’s, a fast food restaurant. The Once Party offers a fantastical opportunity for anyone who turns eleven years old: the chance to visit themselves in the future!
The limited color palette of pink, teal, and yellow make for a very nice aesthetic that lends itself to the strange, futuristic world you get just a glimpse into. For such a short story there is a lot to keep track of that makes rereading fun and I felt like I discovered something new every time I went through it again.
CW: physical abuse
2. No One Else by R. Kikuo Johnson
Tumblr media
Another short one but is definitely one of the more impactful. No One Else is about a woman (a nurse and full time caretaker for her elderly father) and her brother (a musician who has a much more strained relationship with their father) trying to process the sudden, accidental death of their father while also looking after her son. A very honest, holds-no-punches look at family, abuse, and neglect as each character struggles to cope with this sudden situation they find themselves in.
The artwork is beautifully done and the use of blues with a splash of orange makes for a great visual impact. I’m a big fan of character driven stories, and this book provides an interesting and messy glimpse into these characters lives. Very down to earth, very honest, and nicely tied together.
CW: physical abuse
3. Birds of Maine by Michael DeForge
Tumblr media
A fun and meandering story about a society of birds that migrated to the moon to form their own world, away from human involvement. Birds of Maine follows both a group of young birds trying to find their place in this giant, complex world as well as gives glimpses of the many different facets of bird society and how they function.
This comic gives a very funny, matter-of-fact look into the absurd world of birds! It’s overall a great read if you like world building, and it’s presented with beautiful line work, bright pops of color, and abstract shapes that make up the bustling world and characters. The story overall feels like a stroll: it generally follows along a specific story with certain characters, but isn’t afraid to wander off to other points of interest.
4. Coyote Doggirl by Lisa Hanawalt
Tumblr media
Set in the wild west, Coyote Doggirl follows said character as she tries to escape a group of bandits after she kills their leader’s brother. Along the way she meets new allies and has to decide to confront the past she is trying desperately to get away from or keep on running. It’s a funny yet honest book set in the beauty of the desert.
The story and characters in Coyote Doggirl are both hilarious and crude, which makes the more serious and genuine moments even more impactful. The loose style of the watercolors throughout this comic perfectly match the beautiful colors of the desert landscape. This comic also has probably one of my favorite endings (which I’m not going to spoil here).
CW: nudity, sexual assault, graphic violence
5. Eight-Lane Runaways by Henry McCausland
Tumblr media
Eight-Lane Runaways follows a group of runners participating in a marathon through a fantastical and lively world. Each have their own motivations and desires for entering the race, and we get to see how each resolves as the race goes on.
The quirky and oddball characters and their ever-changing, winding landscape go perfectly hand-in-hand. It’s always amusing when clearly bizarre fantasy worlds, characters, and events are treated very plainly within the story. The characters are simple but fun to follow along with, from a character who is a frog, to a character who follows the instructions of a magical coat, to a character simply looking for two missing cats. Along with the beautifully done artwork and sprawling pages of landscapes, it feels as though you are only getting the smallest look into this big, wild world you want to learn more about.
6. The Book Tour by Andi Watson
Tumblr media
The Book Tour follows a rather unlucky new author as, not only is his debut book not selling well, but a string of murders is following his exact tour route, leaving all signs pointing at him as the culprit.
It’s a very dry but still incredibly entertaining and suspenseful story. It’s hilarious, quaint, and baffling to watch the poor man get hit with bad luck after bad luck, only for him to be very proper, if not completely lost, about the whole ordeal. There are also many moving parts and details going on in the background that make for a great murder mystery story, definitely deserving of a reread to connect all the pieces that might have been missed on the first read through (I know I definitely did).
7. Heaven No Hell by Michael DeForge
Tumblr media
A collection of 17 amazing short stories looking at a variety of characters and concepts. Everything from a woman pretending to be a surgeon, a karaoke party, a family killed in a car crash, and the creation of a hypothetical child.
My favorite stories of the bunch are “One Of My Students Is A Murderer… But Which?”, “Surprise Party”, “Album”, “Road Trip”, and “Soap Opera.” All of the stories in this comic are perfectly bite-sized looks into a variety of interesting visuals and concepts that keep you engaged from segment to segment.
CW: mild nudity
8. Flavor Girls by Loïc Locatelli-Kournwsky and Angel De Santiago
Tumblr media
In Flavor Girls, a mysterious alien ship appears in Earth’s orbit, and its passengers cause death and destruction for life on earth. Luckily, a group of women dubbed “Flavor Girls” by their fans are gifted magical, fruit themed powers that aid them in fighting off the alien army. The newest, unexpected member of the group, however, is having trouble catching up.
By far one of the most visually stunning comics I have ever read. Very, very reminiscent of Sailor Moon in its characters, aesthetic, and story. This comic has some of my favorite character designs, the alien designs in particular are extremely fun to look at. Unlike the other comics on this list, it is not a complete story but at least it gives you something to look forward to!
CW: mild graphic violence
9. Beautiful Darkness by Fabien Vehlmann and Kerascoët
Tumblr media
Last but absolutely not least, Beautiful Darkness is a surprisingly horrifying and violent story about cute and fun looking fairy-like characters trying to survive out in the woods. The less you know going in to this comic, the better.
The incredible beauty and meticulous detail of the environment in this comic lends itself well as a stark contrast to the horrific deaths littered throughout this story. It is bizarre watching how unfeeling and unbothered these cutesy fairytale creatures are with their friends dropping around them like flies, but it’s impossible to look away. Seeing how all of it shapes and warps the genuinely kind main character, Aurora, and the darker implications going on in the background make this a must read. By far one of the best openings to any comic I have ever read.
CW: gore, body horror
(That’s all I have for now! Hope to recommend more in the future ✌️)

Completely felt - I wanted to (selfishly) request a pre relationship w bradley where he like comes over to r’s place and there’s like a random assortment of handyman tasks that are either poorly done or waiting to get done. I’m in my acts of service era. But of course do not feel pressure I will love u regardless
this is so juicy i took 1000 years to write it!!! pre-relationship with the promise of something more :) <3 hope you like! | fluff, pre-relationship, 1.3k
Your new place is a dream come true apart from all of the work it needs. The sink leaks, the kitchen cupboard is crooked, the lock on the bathroom door sticks. The lawn is a mess and the brick path to the front door needs relaying and the door itself needs some paint. But it's yours. A small house in the most beautiful town you've ever seen.
It's hard to make friends as an adult in a new place but lucky for you, you've got some already. You know Nat from before she had set her sights on the sky and you've heard so much about Bob you feel like you've met him already. They both come over to help you unpack.
"This is so charming!" Nat cries when you open the door. She tugs you into a hug. "Bob, don't be shy."
"The infamous Bob," you say, smiling. He grins at you and waves before sticking out a hand.
"Hello," he says. "I feel obligated to say that anything embarrassing Phoenix has told you is probably true."
You laugh. You're about to usher them in when you see a dude in jeans and a UVA t-shirt checking out your mailbox. Nat follows your gaze and sighs.
"Rooster!" she calls. The man -- Rooster? -- snaps his head up, eyes hidden behind sunglasses. "Stop manhandling her mailbox and get in here to be useful." She looks back at you and shrugs. "He's from our squad. He knows a lot about home repair and I thought he'd be helpful since you said this place uh..."
Bob looks at the chipping paint on the front door. "Needs some work?"
"That's putting it lightly," Rooster says, walking up the brick path. Okay, kind of a dick thing to say, you think. He wiggles a few loose ones as he does so, shoving his glasses into his hair and frowning at his feet. "You're gonna break an ankle on these things." He seems to remember himself and looks up at you. He grins and it's like someone steals all the air from your lungs. Yeah, that was kind of a dick thing to say, but he's tall, tanned, and so very, very handsome.
"If you can fix them, be my guest," you say. "I'm --"
Your name rolls off his tongue like it was made for him to say. "Nat talks about you all the time. Sorry to crash the unpacking party. I'm Bradley." Nat scoffs and covers it with a cough. He sticks out his hand and you take it. It sounds ridiculous in your own mind but you swear you feel something when your skin touches. Get it together, you tell yourself.
"Wellllllll," Nat drags out. You pull your hand back and hope you're not noticeably flustered. "Shall we go inside?"
You lead the way. Bob starts to unpack your books while Nat tackles unwrapping your frames. Someone starts to play '80s classics on their phone and you're hit with a rush of gratitude. These people, two of them who don't even know you, are so quick to help. You hope the rest of their Navy friends are this nice.
The boxes of dishes seem to be calling your name so you start on those, pulling off paper and opening cabinets. Who knew you had so much shit?
You feel him next to you before he speaks. "This is a little loose," Bradley says, wiggling the kitchen faucet. "Do you mind if I fix it?"
Apparently, Nat was serious about his handyman knowledge. "Uh, sure," you say. It feels like he takes up the entirety of your small kitchen. "There's a toolbox underneath already."
"Smart," he says. You cannot believe how warm the praise makes you feel. You just met.
You start talking so he won't see how flustered you are. "Sorry if this is a dumb question," you start, not looking at him. He's tightening something, arms bulging under this t-shirt. "But should I call you Bradley? Or Rooster? Which I assume is your...pilot name?"
"Callsign," he corrects with a smile you can't help but notice. "It's up to you," he shrugs. "You'd be the only one to call me Bradley, probably."
"I just don't know how to call a grown man Rooster," you admit. He laughs.
"Fair enough," he says. He looks up from the sink and his eyes narrow on the cabinet you're opening. "Hey, careful," he says, reaching for it. His fingers brush yours as he grabs the door, moving it back and forth a little. "This looks loose. Can I..."
"Be my guest."
You have no idea how much time passes. Bradley tightens every single cabinet door in your kitchen and fixes the jammed utensils drawer as you talk about his job on base, your new one close by, the rest of the squad, the best restaurants in town. Anything and everything. Part of you wonders if you're going to wake up in your own bed and all of this is going to have been a dream.
The music pauses and Nat and Bob come into the kitchen. The sunlight through your un-curtained has changed and you realize it's been hours.
"Do you guys want to go to the Hard Deck?" Nat asks, eyes bouncing between you and Bradley. "I could use a drink."
"You can meet more of the squad," Bob says. "And Penny. She's going to love you."
"Alright," you say. It really does sound nice -- meeting new people, and starting to create your own community here. "Do I need to...change?" You look down at your own jeans and t-shirt.
"Nah," Nat says. "You're perfect as you are." Bradley hums and you allow yourself to think that it's in agreement.
"I can drive you if you want," he says suddenly. "I parked down the street."
Bob and Nat seem to do some weird pilot-WSO silent communication thing and then they smile at you both. "We'll meet you there." They're out the door and down the driveway before you can say a single thing.
"Let me grab my keys." Bradley waits by the front door, arms crossed as he looks at the chipping paint.
"Hey," he calls as you walk back towards him. "I hope you don't think I have been implying that your place is..."
"Shitty?" you supply, laughing. He grimaces as you shut the door and start across the crooked bricks.
"It's really nice," he amends. "To have your own place. You're going to make it really beautiful."
"That's kind of you."
"You can say no," he starts, and you look back at him, wondering where this is going. "But I'd be happy to get some of that stuff fixed. Paint the door, redo the bathroom lock, and relay these bri--"
Your foot catches on a half-crumbled brick and you stumble. Bradley's hand darts out to catch you by the arm firmly but not too tight.
"Whoops," you say. You look up and his face is much closer than it was, brows drawn in concern. "Thanks."
"Please let me fix these damn bricks," he says. He does not let go.
"Okay," you breathe. "Can I help?"
Bradley releases you but doesn't step back. The concern melts into amusement. "You know how?"
"No," you say, stepping carefully now. "But I bet you can teach me."
He doesn't say anything for a second and you worry that you've overstepped, you've read it all wrong, you're going to have to fake sick and beg out of drinks.
"Alright," he says. You look back to find him grinning and spinning his car keys around one finger. "I'll teach you." You manage to contain the shiver that wants to run down your spine.
All of this is exciting. A new town, a new house, new friends in Bob and Bradley and whoever you're going to meet tonight. This right here, you and a naval aviator you met a few hours ago standing in your driveway grinning at each other, feels like a beginning.
thank you for reading <3 reblog, send feedback, masterlist here!

blind devotion
a team bolas oneshot. codebreakers-centric (philza and étoiles) (read on ao3) found family, ambiguous relationships, fluff @apthotiosis tagging u because codebreakers heehee
“They’re not crow wings,” Jaiden remarks, tracing the sharp edges of the long feathers meant to catch on updrafts. “They’re too big. And you got extra bones and joints going on.” Phil hums, a hesitant eeeeeh with a twist of his hand. “There’s some crow in there. But most of it is actually—”
“Elytra!” Baghera quacks, awe lacing her voice as she croons over the white diamonds that appear beneath the grime and dust she’s cleaning out. “You’re part Elytrian, Philza?”
“Not exactly,” he laughs, pointing at the very human features on the rest of his body. “I’m not actually a hybrid. Not like Jaiden, or even like you. Those wings were a gift.”
Étoiles perks up. “From Kristin, yes?” he nails down, perceptive as ever. The rest of the flock oooohs, a little chorus of yes, of course, makes sense. “I like your wife, Phil,” the duck smiles, brushing out a crooked feather. She remembers the Goddess’s voice, soft and warm as late spring’s sunlight, pouring out of Phil’s mouth as she borrowed his body to greet them. “She’s so nice.”
“She’s awesome,” Étoiles nods, unseeing eyes reflecting invisible stars. He cannot see anymore, he’s told them, but he still fights like he can, somehow. “I see her, sometimes, when I don’t have enough sugar and I almost die. She tells me to take better care of myself, but I’m dumb and shit so it keeps happening.”
“T’es con,” Baghera chastises him, slapping the back of his head, and Philza snorts at their antics. He’s so glad Étoiles joined them, the memory of his expectant frame almost vibrating out of itself when the old crow-not-quite-a-crow approached him at Global, just the day before. The words had barely left his mouth and the warrior had dropped to his knees before him, like a worshipper before his deity made man. I am your arm, your sword, Étoiles had said to him once, long ago. Felt like long ago. Just tell me where to hit.
A wave of fond-flock-yesyes, the Angel of Death pulls Étoiles forward to shelter him within his wings. “Aaah, Philza, Phil,” Étoiles laughs as his friend pecks at his hair, crooning incessantly. “The goat, oh, he’s moving so good! So good aim!”
“No mames.”
“No maaaaames man.”
“Shut up dude,” Phil wheezes, a huge smile on his face as he runs his talons through the frenchman’s tangled, white-faded locks. Yesyes. “I’m having a moment.”
“Oh? He has a moment, okay. I fuck myself, I don’t move, I get it.”
“Oh my god, stop.”
“I want to see you fly,” Étoiles says, quieter. Almost a whisper, that has everyone tilt their head in focus. “I didn’t see you fly, that’s bullshit. It must be beautiful, to see.”
Phil flashes him a wry grin. “Maybe. They’re pretty fragile, still. I don’t want to fuck them up all over again. Pretty sure the Feds will just clip them once we get back anyway, so.”
“Fuck them!” Baghera screeches indignantly. “Not letting that happen. I kill them first.”
“It’s fine. Just gotta enjoy ‘em while I got ‘em.”
Étoiles pouts at that, mumbles something in rapid-fire French that sounds rude. Phil hums and cups his face with a low trill, talons rapping on the space between his skull and neck, feather-soft. His friend blinks, cloudy silver. “What do I look like to you?” Phil asks, feathers ruffling as he spreads his wings wide, his fellow avians shifting to avoid being smacked by them.
Étoiles smiles, all teeth and greenish gums. “Like home,” he says, and it’s such a silly yet earnest answer that Phil could kiss him into silence. Mine, his hindbrain thrums, fierce possessiveness curling around his heart, and Étoiles laughs, that airy, high-pitched wheeze of his, because he’s making bird noises again. “And he says, he says he’s no hybrid, this man?” he mocks, tackling Philza to the cold floor of their cave to wrestle him into submission. “He’s a liar! Lies! You know who you are, Felipe Minecraft! Embrace it!”
“I am- fuck, get off,” Philza growls, play? play? Swoops Étoiles’ legs from under him to pin him down and they’re both laughing, batting at each other’s faces, talons carefully curled inward to not slice at dark green skin. Baghera and Jaiden cheer them on from the sidelines, loose feathers flying here and there, a viney tail wrapping itself around his leg as they roll and swipe and snap their teeth at each other’s necks, play, play!
Étoiles loses at some point, freezes when sharp claws brush against his jugular. “Oh, he’s too good,” he smiles, tired and fond. “He’s good, and I’m shit. GGs.”
“Don’t say that,” Phil rolls his eyes, but doesn’t draw away. Étoiles’ eyes are squinted in twin crescent moons, and he doesn’t know if he wants to pluck them out to wear like jewellery or forget himself in them. “You. Are the best,” he chirps, pressing his forehead against the other man’s, flock, mine. hello. “I chose you. And I only choose the best for my family.”
“That’s us,” Baghera gasps — she and Jaiden have taken to preening each other instead, her bill ruffling through dark blue and green to dislodge specks of dried blood and sand out of her flockmate’s wings. “Bolas family, yes!”
“You picked Roier first,” the warrior whines, hands pawing at Phil’s chest, not quite pushing him away. “You like him better, no? He’s better, stronger. I don’t blame you.”
“Cellbit wanted him. I wanted to make him happy.”
“Oh, he is,” Jaiden huffs. “They’ve been snogging in the nest all evening. It’s cute and all, but I can only take so much kissing noises until I gotta vomit.”
“Hater!” her sister teases, bonking her bill against her cheek. “You’re just a little hater, let them be gay and happy.”
“They can be gay and happy and not slobber over each other.”
“I kinda like it,” Slime pipes up from his hole in the ground. Jaiden quirks an eyebrow at him. “...You need to get over Cellbit, dude.”
“Whaaaaat? You’re talkin’ nonsense. Put your mask back on, the fumes got to you.”
“Don’t you have Mariana anyway?”
“I don’t see your point.”
“Roier is Roier,” Phil cuts them off, catching Étoiles’ wrists to push them down against the stone. Mine. “You’re you. Cellbit wanted him, I wanted you. Simple.”
“Yeah?”
“Uh-huh.” A croon, their noses brush together. Jaiden makes a gagging sound, which makes Baghera cackle. What am I doing? “Phil?” He blinks. His friend is looking up at him, eyes crinkled up in amusement, fang poking out from beneath his upper lip. “I’m already yours. You don’t need to go all birdbrain on me.”
“Sorry.”
“Nah. Don’t be sorry, be the GOAT that you are.” Étoiles pushes himself up, and Philza lets him. He tilts his head to the side, like he always does whenever he’s mapping out his surroundings. “Phil, Phil,” he nudges at the crow’s shoulder, vine-tail thumping against the ground in renewed vigot. “PvP check, yes? Sticks?”
“Bruh.”
“Come oooon.”
“We’re actually ahead today, let’s not die and mess it up.”
“Rhoooooo…”

GIRL this Willy content is going to drive me mad I swear! I am needing a lil fic about maybe you meeting the fam for the first time on this international trip and you’re so excited, but also nervous because in Toronto he’s a star but in Sweden he’s the fucking sun!! And he looks so happy and fucking good that he’s willing to take you just about anywhere he can find to take away the nerves and get you to loosen up and enjoy yourself😭😭💀💀
Oh bb! Your wish is my command! ❤️ bc let’s be honest, this kind of scenario has definitely been on my mind a lot as well!
I might have been a little too excited about the idea, so I apologise in advance for any mistakes and errors 😅

We are Family
Tumblr media
**
One hour.
In just one more hour, the plane would land in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. And as the minutes ticked by, you could sense your breaths becoming uneven, and your leg trembling with anticipation.
The reason for your anticipation? This journey wasn’t just about the destination itself; no, it held a lot more significant to it. It was the other place on earth your boyfriend, William Nylander, called his home.
Willy, your boyfriend of about six months, or maybe a bit longer or shorter - the dating phase and the decision to commit had been a bit of a whirlwind, so you weren’t entirely sure, for exactly how long you’d been together.
You'd first met William a couple of months before the playoffs and hit it off immediately. His energy yet calm and confident demeanour was unlike many others you’d ever dated, and you were captured in an instant.
But dating an NHL player during the playoffs, was close to the impossible and it had been nothing but challenging. However, somehow, amid the chaos of that time William had made his way directly to your heart, and he had found comfort in having you around. You’d quickly become his anchor throughout the tumultuous period.
Then, during the off-season, both of you felt the need for some space. Not that there were any issues between you; it was simply a desire for some individual journeys and some time to think and breath apart. So, William had travelled across Europe with friends and family, while you pursued your own adventures with some girlfriends.
However, upon returning to Toronto and meeting up again, there was no doubt: you both wanted to be together, romantically committed and all that came with it. William, as unbothered as ever, wasn't really one to overthink it, but you had had your doubts whether he truly meant it, or if you were just another fling. But then just like that, all your concerns were suddenly gone, as William asked you to join the Global Series tour, where the Leafs would play two regular season games in Sweden.
He had practically pleaded for you to come along, now that you'd officially been together for months, and he was eager to introduce you to his family. Which, for the record, and in your opinion, was a monumental step for your relationship, considering how much his family meant to him. And to top it off, you’d be meeting them in what he referred to as his home country.
As you knew he was a bloody star in Toronto – in Sweden, he was the fucking sun. He was a walking monument within the sport, and though you were used to the attention in the Canadian city, it was nothing compared to his status in the Swedish hockey world.
So, as the vibrant city came into view, your nerves were on edge, and your excitement beaming. You were longing to see William, and soon you’d be in his arms again.
**
After landing, you wasted no time grabbing your luggage and swiftly hopped onto the Arlanda Express, a quick 20-minute ride that placed you right in the heart of Stockholm. Here, William welcomed you with the most radiant smile on his wonderful face, pulling you into a deep, affectionate kiss. Despite the lingering effects of jet lag, you couldn't care less.
The team, naturally, had travelled together and arrived a few days earlier to tackle their own jet lag a head of the games. They went for team meetings before heading out to dine together, embracing the finest Swedish customs. And all the Swedish players were even invited to a premiere of the Börje Salming tribute movie, accompanied by family and friends – which had been a truly special occasion. And amidst hockey training and probably a fair share of media engagements, William had planned to devote his time to you.
So, on the following day, once you'd somewhat adjusted to a more normal state of mind, William took you out. Sensing your nerves, he made every effort to keep you distracted and calm, showcasing the most splendid places and attractions in Stockholm and introducing you to the renowned concept of Fika, Swedish style.
You could sense his pride in sharing this part of his life with you, and despite the dull, grey weather, the time spent together in his "home" city was what mattered most. And eventually, you found yourself completely at ease in his presence.
Up until the next crucial moment: meeting his family.
William loved his family very much. He cherished every single one of his relatives deeply, and to put it mildly, there were quite a lot of them. And naturally, he had invited the whole clan to the major hockey event.
"Hey," he spoke in a gentle voice as the two of you were getting ready in the hotel room. "Baby, please try to relax," his soft chuckle filled the room, but his words didn't immediately ease your nerves.
"Willy, I’m trying… but I'm meeting your parents," you replied with worried brows. You could feel how your nerves were showing, despite your best attempts to stay calm and confident by wearing your favourite outfit.
"I know, and I get that you're nervous. But there's really nothing for you to worry about."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course! Besides, I'm just really happy that you're here.” He stepped a little closer, and gently wrapped his arms around your waist. “This means the world to me. You're finally meeting my parents, and I'm just so excited, you know…"
There was no falsehood in his words. His eyes shone like bright Christmas lights, and his smile was wider than you’d ever seen before.
"I know, I'm excited too – I just really hope they’ll like me… I know how much your family means to you. The worst thing would be if we couldn’t be together, because they didn't approve of me, and then, you'd have to choose, which would be even worse, since-"
William interrupted your ramble with a kiss.
"They'll definitely like you, don't worry," he almost whispered, keeping your faces close while his arms enveloped you. It was a gentle, heartfelt moment as the two of you stood motionless in the serene room. Only the sound of your synchronized breaths filled the small space between you, his rhythm guiding yours.
And gazing into his eyes, a realization began to dawn. William wouldn't have you meet his family if he wasn't absolutely certain it would go well.
And so, you made your way out of the hotel, heading towards the restaurant where you'd meet a part of his closest family, both of you unable to contain wide smiles. His hand tightly held yours, providing the reassurance you sought. And with each step towards the door, all you felt was joy, simply being by his side.
***
"Hey!" a group of incredibly good-looking Swedes exclaimed as you headed towards the back of the restaurant, where William had ensured there was enough space for everyone and allowing a degree of privacy.
"Hej," William addressed his parents as they approached, exchanging hugs and kisses. "Mom, Dad, this is my girlfriend, y/n."
"Hello, y/n," the two tall Swedes smiled, extending their hands for you to shake, which you accepted eagerly before speaking.
"Hej, hur mår du? Det är verkligen trevligt att träffa er båda," (Hey, how are you? It’s really nice to neet toy both), you greeted as confident as possible, earning astonished wide eyes from your boyfriend, leaving him completely baffled. This he had not expected.
"Vi är mycket bra, tack. Det är fantastiskt att träffa dig också," (We’re very good, thanks. It’s really wonderful to meet you too), his mother replied with a beautiful smile, and you couldn't help but chuckle as William stood stunned beside you.
"When did you learn that?" he exclaimed with a laugh.
"What?" you innocently asked. "I just wanted to pick up a few phrases… you know, to impress you." You flashed him a sweet smile, while his parents responded with hearty laughter. "Besides, all that effort to see that look on your face? Totally worth it."
"Oh, I like this one," his father Michael remarked, before all of you continued to join the rest of the company.
William was genuinely impressed. Mission accomplished. And so were his parents. Bonus points.
You had practised a few sentences just for fun, aiming to make an impression and show how much you were in fact interested in getting to know this part of your boyfriend better. And it seemed your plan had worked.
Although following along with the Swedish conversations was challenging, William, his parents, and sisters made an incredibly sweet effort to involve you in everything. They were exceedingly kind and welcoming, and it didn't take long for you to feel like a part of the family. What a relief.
"You know, y/n, Willy couldn’t stop talking about you all summer," Stephanie chuckled.
"Oh, come on, let's not go into that," William almost whined.
"Oh, we're definitely going there, big brother," Jacqueline chimed in with a grin, before adding, "He was glued to his phone, waiting for you to text or call..."
"Why hasn't she called me?" Stephanie playfully mimicked her brother's whiny voice, prompting Jacqueline to continue.
"Should I call her?"
"What if she doesn't pick up?"
"What if she does pick up?"
His sisters teasingly taunted him, recalling how much William had talked about you during the off-season. And amidst their banter, there was nothing but laughter from your end. Despite William's potential embarrassment in that moment, or as much as he could show, you found yourself incredibly happy. Not only was his family immensely sweet, but you also discovered that he had been thinking about you as much as you had been thinking about him. Furthermore, he had even shared details about you with his family.
"Alright, enough," William chuckled. "Just because I'm finally in love and happy, doesn't mean you get to give me a hard time."
And with smiles and laughter, the girls relented from their teasing.
For you, however, your heart skipped a beat. Warmth filled your entire being as you absorbed his words. In love.
****
After a delightful evening of dinner, conversation, and mingling, you and William found yourselves back in your hotel room. A serene silence enveloped the room as both of you slowly unwound, enjoying the relaxed atmosphere.
"Hey, are you okay?" your boyfriend inquired as you were about to join him on the bed.
"Of course," you reassured him with a soft smile.
"You're just unusually quiet... Was tonight not okay?" he probed, a hint of concern in his voice.
With a smile slowly spreading across your face, you knelt on the bed in front of him, lightly pressing your lips together before speaking.
"Willy, tonight was perfect. Your family is wonderful, and I've never seen you this happy," you said with genuine sincerity. "Not even when the team made it into the second round."
William chuckled in response, but he could read you too well, and he sensed there was more. "So, there's nothing else on your mind?"
Once more, you pursed your lips, briefly glanced down, then locked eyes with his once more.
"Did you truly mean it?"
"Mean what?" he asked, curiosity dancing in his eyes.
"That you're in love with me?"
William's smile widened at your question as he leaned closer, gently cupping your cheek with a hand.
"Absolutely, y/n/n," his voice tender and soft. "In fact, I think I love you."
With your heart overflowing with affection for this man, you closed the distance between you in a heartfelt kiss, before pulling back just a tad.
"I love you too, Willy."

"A small concern with how the engine sounds -- We held darkness in withheld clouds,"
— "Keep Driving", Harry Styles
Winter was very much still in season, but the cozy booth in the cafe near campus was warm enough with Suguru’s company. You were a little surprised when he suggested getting a coffee, but grateful for the chance to talk with him one-on-one. Suguru sipped on a flat white, listening to you talk about your method to tackling a shit ton of reading.
“It sounds really extra, but it helps me pick up on themes and patterns really quickly. Plus,” you continued after taking a sip of your dirty chai latte. “It makes the reading feel like a scavenger hunt.” As fascinated as he was by your strange method of note keeping, Suguru was still struggling to understand the method entirely.
“A hashtag system...,” he mused aloud.
"Actually, it's a self-made index," you corrected him with a playful grin. It was rare for you to feel this enthusiastic about something mundane with someone else.  “Sorry, let me relax a bit,” you said, reeling in your enthusiasm. Suguru grinned widely.
“No, no, it’s okay, it’s cute,” he replied, prompting you to lift your drink to your lips. You hoped the rising steam from the hot tea masked the flush spreading across your face. Suguru's gaze darted back to his cup, searching for a new topic. Grateful for the shift, you welcomed the change, "So, in your self-made index, did any themes or patterns stand out to you from the reading?"
“Well, Wuthering Heights is named after the manor. It’s a novel based on a place. The place is crucial. The atmosphere, the deterioration of the house," you listed points you had notated in your index for class. Suguru’s deep brown eyes were challenging to hold contact with as you spoke. It felt like he was absorbing every word you uttered. Maybe you just weren’t accustomed to that level of attention, especially not from the guy you’ve been eyeing for the last couple of years.
“Okay, wait, this is actually making a lot of sense,” he mused. “I think I’m… impressed?” His unexpected admission caught you off guard, and you blinked in surprise at his words.
“Why? Because there’s a meaning to my madness?” You smirked at the boy playfully. “When you reduce the interesting parts of the story, like the failed upkeep of Wuthering Heights overtime, Heathcliff’s disposition — well, just reduce it to a simple word that describes it, and it turns out deterioration is a huge theme.” You paused to analyze Suguru’s expression; silent, stoic, listening… or possibly bored? The unreadable mask on his face made it hard to decipher his thoughts.
“So, you just take those thematic concepts to build an argument, keeping track of the quotes that touch on the themes, then later when you’re writing a paper, or trying to contribute to the class discussion, you just flip through your notes, and boom.” You meet his gaze again, trying to wrap up your little demonstration quickly. “It argues for itself.”
Even if you weren’t boring him or talking too much, just the notion haunted you. You found yourself scanning the cafe, half-expecting familiar faces to distract you or save the conversation. A sudden vulnerability crept in, an unsettling feeling you hoped wasn’t plastered on your face. Despite eagerly awaiting Suguru’s response, you just felt yourself becoming a little too... conspicuous. Visible? Was that the right word?
As he absorbed your words, Suguru found his mind drifting from the conversation at hand to the growing intrigue about the girl before him. It wasn’t that he hadn’t noticed you before, but he'd never made an effort to catch your attention. Last year, during that poetry class, he only caught a glimpse of you, but the aftermath left him feeling a bit… off-kilter. Chagrin? Was that the right word? Suguru had never been the polished academic type, so despite putting in considerable effort, it didn't always reflect in his grades.
To him, you were almost out of reach. Almost unreadable. He hadn’t stepped up to the challenge that is you, but this semester — his last semester — why shouldn’t he? Getting to sit with you while you talked him through your complicated note taking process was nice, but he wondered if he could somehow get you off that topic.
“So this is how you managed to ace Professor Sheppard’s Form & Theory class last spring?” He asked, genuinely interested, but the smirk on his face threw you off. He wasn’t making fun of you, was he?
“I honestly don’t know what happened in that class. Or the one I took with him last semester.” You admitted, hoping to come across humbly. Suguru’s eyes widened at your statement.
“You’re shitting me,” he said in disbelief. “You took another class with that asshole?” The laughter spilled from your mouth before you knew it was there. Obviously the disdain for that professor was common among the English Department at your university, but expressing it aloud seemed so taboo.
“Yeah, dude,” you nodded soberly. “And what makes it worse is he used me as an example for the class.”
“What?” Suguru looked genuinely annoyed for a second before you realized how bad ‘ being used as an example’ sounded.
“Oh!” Your hands waved him down like he was a flame you were trying to shoo away from getting too big. “Not like that, he just made me seem like a star student. He bragged about my organization skills and…” your voice trailed off thinking back on the fall semester from hell you just escaped. “It was pretty bad. Last semester was hard on my mental health, you know?” You left it at that, not wanting to dive too deep into details unprompted.
Meeting Suguru's gaze felt like being ensnared; there seemed to be no escape from his piercing eyes.
Meeting Suguru’s gaze felt like a giant spotlight; there seemed to be no escape from being perceived by him at that moment. He was focused on your words, waiting for the next couple of sentences to fall from your lips. The truth of the matter is last semester was the lowest you’d ever felt and you weren’t sure how appropriate it was to bring up such personal issues. Lowering your eyes in response, Suguru somehow got the hint you didn’t give.
He glanced down at his watch before meeting your gaze again. “I get it. If you ever want to talk about it more, you know where I am every Tuesday and Thursday morning,” he grinned sheepishly before gathering his coat & bag. “I’ve gotta run to catch this sociology lecture, but let’s hang again.” His smile almost left you stunned.
“Of course, Suguru,” you said with a smile. “See you Thursday.”  As he stepped away towards the exit and to class you took it upon yourself to use the rest of your time as productively as possible. Taking out your laptop, you started to go through the motions of opening up your calendar, checking your email, and other general housekeeping, but stopped when you reached for your drink and saw Suguru’s cup.
Your lips pressed into a small smile as you started to process the moment you were so desperately trying to disconnect from. You just had coffee with Suguru Geto. A smile crept up on your lips at the thought of him giving you his attention as you spoke. A brief lapse of insecurity ran through your core as you worried how you came across. He had seemed friendly enough, but, ultimately, you worried about being overwhelming. Sharing too much. Being too much.
Suguru didn’t think that of you, though. In fact, as he moved away from your conversation, a renewed curiosity swirled within him. Thoughts of how to recreate that moment lingered in his mind, weaving through various scenarios. And to think you were about to open up to him. A subtle, knowing smile played on his lips as he made his way across campus to his next lecture with a lightness to his step. He could sense so much just beneath the surface of your expression, he knew he could figure you out. At least, he hoped.
Tumblr media
The rest of the day went by unassumingly. After attending another lecture, you trudged back to your apartment through the wintry slush that lined the sidewalks. The second you unlocked the front door and stepped inside, your nose was greeted by the sweetness & warmth of cinnamon. Kicking off your shoes, you yelled out your arrival to Utahime before moving towards the kitchen.
“Oh, hey!” Utahime greeted you with a big smile. “I’m making milk and rice.” she was all bundled up in a snuggie and slippers as she stirred the pot full of your favorite dessert.
“It smells so good, dude,” you breathed in the aroma almost desperately before turning to take a seat at the small table in the kitchen. There is a part of you that wants to gush about your first class of the day and how you’ve effectively launched a self-imposed campaign to get to know Suguru Geto before graduation. How he called you cute , how could you forget that till now?
“I figured after being so brave & tackling the first few days of class in such horrible weather, we deserved a treat.” You couldn’t agree with her more. She began to serve scoops of the concoction into bowls, sprinkling cinnamon on top as an extra garnish. Having Utahime as a roommate was nice. She really cared for you like a big sister.
When you joined the sorority, you had been getting to know girls for maybe three weeks before your Big was assigned to you, the Little. They were meant to be mentors for the new members to look up to & get guidance from them, so a lot of the pairings were based on similar goals or habits you two may have shared. You remember having to rank on a scale of 1-5 in level of importance different categories like “leadership,” “philanthropy,” or “social life,” -- and you, as ambitious as ever at nineteen years old, prioritized leadership; this was before you realized nobody actually cared about anything other than impressing fraternity boys from high ranking fraternities. The #1 match for you was -- surprise, surprise -- Utahime Iori, the current Vice President at the time you joined.
Other than your ambition, there were just a handful of things you two had in common, but you really admired her. She carried herself with gravity and grace which was something you felt you could stand to learn a bit more about. There were parts of you that you kept away from her, like your smoking habit, she knows about who you hook up with, but never the details. There were times where you were sure she was disappointed in a couple decisions you’ve made in that area, but she was always there for you at the end of the day. This was your second year living together in the three years you’ve known each other. Lucky for you, she chose to enroll in your university’s master program instead of going elsewhere, so you were able to keep your roommate.
She really did care about you, but, no, you decided you wouldn’t bring up Suguru and your little coffee date this morning. Not until it actually became something. You silently began to snack on the milk & rice Utahime made for the both of you when she excitedly gasped to get your attention.
“Oh, there’s an unofficial mixer with Pike on Thursday night!” she beamed at you, trying to gauge your reaction. Even in her master program, Utahime maintained such strong connections in her social circles that she was telling you about mixers before actual active members were able to. “It’s Jersey Shore themed,” she grinned like an idiot while you laughed off your sour face.
“Everybody’s so creative,” you mused sarcastically. She nodded while taking a sip from her tea.
“Yeah, right? I know exactly what I’m wearing though. I figured we could pre-game here with a couple sisters before ubering over there fashionably late.”
By “fashionably late,” Utahime was referring to the unspoken rule about mixers. The university representatives set rules in place to avoid things like hazing or underage drinking. Mixers are required to have a 30 minute sober period, but after that it’s anyone’s game. Most of the time what happens is everyone shows up 35 minutes late, treats the mixer like a pregame, & once the party starts itself the fraternity usually opens up their doors and sends out their address to begin hosting the weekend’s parties.
“So, you’re coming, right?” Utahime pressed the question with her intense eye contact. This probably had something to do with how reclusive you became last semester. You would miss out on functions, leave parties unannounced and by yourself, only to end up walking home alone through the rain, and writing some sort of melodramatic poem. Utahime never understood why you got in those moods, she definitely didn’t know how to help other than to encourage you to branch out. You looked up at her and smiled.
“Yes, I’ll go with you.” Finishing up your bowl of rice, you stood up before placing it in the sink. “I’ll start putting together my outfit,” you added, leaving the kitchen to retire to your room.

s/o who is jealous of willow hcs ; hunter
Tumblr media
requested by ; anonymous (30/04/23)
fandom(s) ; the owl house
fandom masterlist(s) ; main | hunter-only
character(s) ; hunter wittebane
outline ; “hii! Can I request a hunter x reader where reader gets jealous and kinda insecure about hunter's relationship with willow? Like, the reader would be really trying to hide it, bc they know willow is a very close friend of hunter, but he notices it anyway 🥺
maybe a bit angsty?
also i just wanna say that you are my favorite hunter x reader writer omg ♥️♥️ luv u”
warning(s) ; angst, jealousy, comfort
you knew that it wasn’t rational, you knew that they were just friends — and you knew how important that was because he had so few support systems in his life — but knowing that didn’t change anything
not all feelings are rational, and feelings don’t need to be rational to exist
and exist your jealousy did
a gnawing parasite that buried itself in your innards and twisted deeper and deeper whenever she made him smile or blush — a stabbing pain like a dagger or some other jagged blade
a cold flush like iced water being poured over you every time he laughed at one of your jokes
the necrotic, bloody wound that spread and spilled its puss in the form of the scowl threatening to pull downwards on the edges of your lips every time she touched his arm
a disease, an infection, an infestation
so very wrong and irrational
but you couldn’t help it, couldn’t cure it, couldn’t rid yourself of it
something didn’t need to make sense for it to hurt — didn’t even need to be intentional
and you knew it wasn’t intentional
titan, no! hunter would never even dream of hurting you and willow was so lovely that she wouldn’t consider it for a second
which only made you feel worse
made you withdraw more from the group, from your relationship, as you tried to put on a facade of being okay
but he noticed
of course he noticed
and he confronted you in the privacy of your home — told you that he knew what was wrong
he knew about your feelings when it came to willow, he’d noticed — but she hadn’t (thank goodness) — but you still felt horrible because this was the exact thing you were trying to avoid
and you feel like you’re going to cry as you fall over yourself to apologise for feeling so jealous and being so stupid about it and not being able to stop
and he stops you, silences you and pulls you into a hug as he lets you cry it out
he’s rocking back and forth and soothing you and shushing you as he lets you calm down, slowly letting you know how he stood on the whole thing
and he’s so understanding because he’s hunter so of course he is, and he’s murmuring promises and reassurances against the crown of your head as he soothes you
he says he understands, that there’s nothing wrong with how you’re feeling and that it’s not your fault
that you can’t control your feelings but you can control your reaction to them and he’s so proud of you for how you were dealing with your jealousy
but that he wishes you’d have come to him to talk about it sooner rather than trying to hide them
that you’re partners and it’s important that you trust each other to have these conversations so you can tackle these things as a team
he reaffirms that he and willow are just friends (which you knew) and when you pull away to look at him he makes you promise to talk about things like this with him first rather than just trying to hide away
and you agree
and you kiss
and everything is back on track to being somewhat normal
because now you’re a team and you’re going to kick your jealousy in the ass

warnings: a bit of fluff a bit of angst, reader gets hurt, steve being a cutesy sweetheart
ೃ༄*ੈ✩
you stood in the living room and folded the clothes that just dried, you were now in the new house you and steve just moved into, it was a huge step in your life and relationship.
you two loved each other and were always comfortable around each other.
you then felt arms wrap around your waist, a smile found itself on your face as steve kissed you neck
“whatcha doin?“ he asked
“folding” you simply said, “your clothes to be specific” you playfully rolled your eyes
“oh really?” he said
“mhm, yknow i love you right?”
“yeah”
“well not anymore”
steve exaggeratedly gasped at your words, “what!”
“not after i had to fold your underwear”
“take it back” he said, but you shook your head with a smirk on your face
“what are you gonna do about it?” you asked
“hmm, i wonder what” he said, it was silent for a moment, but then a little scream came out of you when he picked you up and threw you on the couch
you two always liked to play around like that, it was fun and it made you feel like you two weren’t serious people and liked to joke around with each other
you then tried to get up but he stopped you, you tried to push him away, a giggle falling from your lips as the two of you continued play fighting
you then managed to tackle him to the floor, but he was stronger than you, so he was able to push you off him, making you land face first on the hard ground first
you stopped laughing, making steve a little concerned
“baby?” he said
“steve…something hurts” you said in a low voice, he then let go of you and turned you around only to see a bunch of blood falling from your nose
“oh my god” he muttered, “shit!”
he quickly grabbed some tissues and held your face up so less falls out, still doing that, he opened the front door and put you in the car
he sped to the hospital in worry, while you are oddly silent, just trying to contain the pain you felt while he was rambling on about how you were gonna be okay
sooner or later, he got to the hospital and they fixed you up pretty easily, saying it was just a small break
“how you doin now?” he asked as he sat on the couch next to you after the two of you drive home in silence
“seriously steve, im okay” you smiled
“no—no you’re not you have a broken nose because of me! i was too rough—”
“hey—steve!” you yelled to stop his rambling, “im fine, i was just exaggerating. i swear you have nothing to do with this. we were just having fun, and we’re gonna keep having fun because this has nothing to do with you, okay?”
it was quiet for a moment, but then he nodded, “right…right—okay, i’m sorry”
“don’t be sorry, love” you said, hugging him tight, he was such a sweetheart. how could you live without him?

I hope this isn’t taken in the wrong way. I’m actually curious. Analysis of the Like Crazy MV shows Jimin standing at the lips of a hetero kissing couple. It’s been said it shows he’s bisexual since he’s literally getting kissed by both. I don’t know a whole lot about bisexual gender ID other than they are attracted to both sexes. So my question (hopefully you understand me) is in the case of Jikook, would Jimin stay forever with a man or would he at some point want a female? I mean, once he decided on male Jungkook, does he stay with him and not become curious about being with a female? I just don’t know if the mystique of being with a female to see if he likes it, would make him pursue it. I know he loves Jungkook so do you think Jimin feels he doesn’t need to look at anyone else? I know this is a weird ask so if you’d rather not tackle it, no worries!
I appreciate you being forthcoming and sending in this ask.
To be truthful with you, that scene in Like crazy to me wasn't about his bisexuality.
To me it felt more about him feeling out of place. Not meeting the 'normal' societal expectations of male/female.
But that's the fun with art, you know, it's up for interpretation.
Now for your question about bi-sexuality.
Being bi-sexual doesn't mean you will necessarily be intimate with both sexes in your life time.
Someone who is bi-sexual can be attracted to a male or a female or other gender. They could be in a life long relationship with one or the other, and never ever be with someone from the other gender. It's not about promiscuity (something that is wrongfully attached by many to bi-sexuals).
Ok, so how do I explain this properly?
Your sexual inclination, who you are attracted to sexually, has nothing to do with how many sexual partners you will have in your lifetime.
Being bi means that you might find more than one gender sexually attractive. It doesn't mean you will be running around having sex with all, nor does it necessarily mean that as a bi person you are curious of how it would be to have sex with both male and female (as this is what you are asking).
Looking for other experiences, not being satisfied with the person you are with, sexually, is not about your sexuality (heterosexual, gay, lesbian, bi, etc.) and more about your personality.
Being in a loving, happy, and sexually satisfying relationship, and yet feeling like you need more, as in exploring having sex with someone else, same or not same gender, is not about your sexuality, and more about who you are as a person.
I don't really want to get into the JM question as of itself, other than to say that we don't really know anything about both of them: their sexuality, their previous experience or lack there of, the inner works of their relationship.
What I see is 2 young men truly in love with each other, truly attracted to each other, now almost 8 years into their relationship.
I did feel that I need to answer the ask though because I do think the question comes from a misconception that needs to be cleared up.
Bisexuality does not equal promiscuity.
Bisexuality does not equal need to explore sex with every gender you might feel you could be attracted to.
That depends on the individual, who they are as a person, what they want from life, from their partners, from and for themselves.

25 Days of G-Witch Reflection
Tumblr media
This was my 4th time watching G-Witch, but really the first time I've watched it start-to-finish since the show ended in July (I watched the Japanese version twice a week when it was airing and was also watching the English dub simultaneously, which ended a few weeks later). The idea to watch an episode a day starting December 1st and ending on Christmas Day didn't come to me until very late in November, when I was thinking about wanting to make sure I watched it again before the year ended. It was challenging at times and stressful at others, but I looked forward to watching an episode every day and writing down my thoughts on each one, and those thoughts slowly grew with each episode.
My thoughts? Well I still love this show, and honestly the pacing felt better this time around, but maybe that's just me getting used to it. That's not to say it's pacing is amazing, but now that I don't have the burden of certain expectations going in, the pacing and the speed at which the ending happened feel more natural. In addition, a lot of big problems I had before really feel like it might be a case of me overthinking things once I started writing them out everyday, but there's still the issue of the show being ambiguous enough that those things aren't clear in the first place.
I think G-Witch's biggest problem is the expectations people have going into it, some due to it being a Gundam series and some being how well it executes it's background themes. There is an expectation that the show will seriously tackle the conflict between Earth and Space, the corporate corruption, the co-opting of medical technology for warfare and the transhumanist questions raised in the prologue and ending. I personally believe that those were never meant to be a focus, that the point of this story was the relationship between Suletta & Miorine and the conflict of their families (with The Tempest serving as the framework for the story) and everything else was a background detail meant to move that story forward. So maybe the reason I love it so much and many of it's "flaws" don't bother me is I never expected it to (nor really wanted it to) tackle those issues, and focus on that family drama instead.
I remember being in the minority when the 2nd season was airing that didn't want a 3rd and 4th season, especially one that would turn G-Witch into a traditional war story. I liked that G-Witch seemed to be aiming for a smaller, tighter focus around Suletta & Miorine's family, and I could tell midway through S2 that that story was barreling towards it's conclusion and anymore would've just been another Gundam war story unless they continued to take this AU further and further away from the core Gundam experience.
Unfortunately, for one reason or another, the show itself seemed to forget that in parts of S2, and tried to be more like a traditional Gundam series for a moment. Watching it day-to-day makes episode 15 really stand out for how egregiously out of place it is, and the series ties too hard to keep Guel relevant during it's finale, to the detriment of more important things. We may never know what happened behind the scenes, but I still firmly believe that this was a result of executive meddling. My biggest complaint after this 4th viewing is that S2 spent too much time on the Jeturk family and not enough time with the Rembran family (Delling and Notrette are almost an afterthought), and instead of building the SAL as the final antagonistic faction, we wasted time following the Dawn of Fold for an episode that didn't impact the story. Definitely still think they needed to introduce the Demi-Barding & Gundam Schwarzette earlier and do a little more with them.
I definitely wish Suletta & Miorine spent more time together in S2, but I don't know that I'd change anything significant enough in S2 to make them spend significantly more time together. I would just give them more time in the wake of their reunion to see them talk afterwards before Suletta boarded the Calibarn. And even if the number of scenes they physically shared was small, they constantly thought about each other and motivated each other through the entirety of the season. Everything Miorine did was for Suletta's sake. Miorine was constantly in Suletta's thoughts, even after the divorce, and she never gave up on that relationship.
It's been 6 months since the series finished airing, and I still think about it daily. I still have a lot of emotions regarding the series. I cry pretty much the entire 2nd half of the final episode still, I still can't listen to Houseki no Hibi without breaking into tears, and it even hits me sometimes when listening to The Blessing or looking at various pieces of art. Much to my surprise, and my immense relief and happiness, not a day goes by where I don't see a new piece of Sulemio artwork, and seeing them together still brings me great joy and happiness. Suletta is my favorite fictional character ever, and Miorine is right next to her, and they're both incredibly important to me for a number of reasons. I love them so much that it actually got me to write fiction about characters that aren't my OCs, and even post my writing publicly for the first time. This show and it's ending makes me incredibly happy, but I also felt an incredibly strong melancholy when it ended that took me over a week to get over, and those feelings have strongly returned in the wake of finishing it again.
I don't know how long this hyperfixation will last. I've never loved a piece of media or characters as strongly as I love G-Witch and Sulemio, and I'm definitely in uncharted territory when it comes to that. But until I stop thinking about this show and these girls on a daily basis, I'm going to keep talking about it and showing it my love.

It really gets me how you can't say shit about Helluva Boss (or Hazbin Hotel for that matter) to actually critique without fans getting buthurt, and the only people agreeing with you people who just hate Vivzipop (for the record i dont lol). But here are my gripes that I wish people were actually talking about (btw I really *want* to love Helluva Boss and none of this is mean-spirited, just things I've noticed that I wish the team would fix, or I believe are beyond fixing):
1. The very confused tone. I know a lot of people deflect any criticism from the show by saying 'oh but it's a comedy you shouldn't take it too seriously'. Here's the thing- it's literally taking itself too seriously. There's a balance that a show can have between dark elements and humor, but Helluva Boss consistently tries to tackle very, VERY heavy subjects. This combined with the Brandon Rodgers-essque d!ck joke comedy doesn't.. work. At least not in the way they're attempting. I think the most egregious example of this is the scene in the latest episode when Moxie's dad is literally threatening to kill him if he doesn't follow through with an arranged marriage... immeadiatly followed by Moxie walking though a hall of wall d!ldos. It kind of says, 'hey, we were taking this really seriously 2 seconds ago, but jk actually now you should laugh!'
Juxtaposition doesn't work if it actively confuses its audience on what to feel. I'm not sure how much influence Vivzie and Brandon have on the outcome of the show vs the rest of the writing team, but it seems like Brandon's humor and Vivzie's tendency to write melodramatic soap opera scenes just aren't really meshing together quite right. I wish it had more similar pacing and tone shifts that HH had, because it felt more sudden in a purposeful way, rather than 'we're too lazy to find a good transition between these two scenes.'
2. Why does Vivziepop never write interesting female characters? I know this is talked about a bit more, but it's growing increasingly prevalent in Helluva Boss. We still haven't gotten an episode focused on any of the female leads that's actually about *them*.
Millie is practically nonexistent without her relationship to Moxie. Even the episode where we meet her family, it doesn't give us any insight about her. Every time she goes feral(tm) it's either to save her husband or it's part of a group fight. The only backstory we got for Loona was there to service Blitzo's character, and show us *his* reaction. The only things we've seen with Octavia were put there to help us learn more about Stolas. Even in the scene where they only had Loona and Octavia on the screen, it didn't feel like it was about them at all. It didn't feel like the scene existed to show us them bonding about their shitty dads. It felt like the scene was there to once again ask the audience to give Blitzo and Stolas pity points. Which- brings me to my next problem.
3. Its justifications of abuse. I know they're in hell. Most of them should be shitty people, and they are! But I wish the story would stop trying to pretend they're not. Helluva Boss keeps doing this thing where it draws a line between 'good' abuse and 'bad' abuse. And this kind of completely changed Stolas and Blitzo's relationship. Ik some people may like this change but I personally don't.
Earlier on, we were made to believe Stolas kind of fucked up by cheating on his wife. Not only did this affect Stella (tho ofc we later learn it's due to image reasons) but his daughter as well. It's just generally an uncomfortable and tricky situation. And I liked it! It was interesting and had levels of nuance. However, now that we know that he was basically being abused by Stella this entire time, and met Blitzo when they were kids (which is a WHOLE OTHER UNCOMFORTABLE CAN OF WORMS LMAO) the audience no longer feels like Stolas did anything wrong. Now his actions feel justified.
As much as I loved his confrontational scene with Stella the first time I watched it, as I know many people did, I also know that it kind of ruined any sense of nuance that whole situation had. Now, Stolas suddenly has been absolved from any previously implied mistakes. And, Stella is portrayed as this 1 dimensional cruel monster.
Which brings me to the point of abuse in this show. It's a very prevalent theme, and it's a heavy one for a show branded as a sit-com to portray (hard, but not impossible). But it fails on the end that it doesn't stay consistent in its condemnation of it. Every time a character does something 'bad', as soon as we find out there is a reason for this bad behavior, the show suddenly makes it seem like we should feel bad for them and that their actions are justified because they're a broken person. See: the narrative around Stolas' affair suddenly being changed as soon as we find out he was being abused by Stella.
Inconsistent emotional consequences in writing is lazy for sure. But the real problem is when it gets to the abuse side of things, it can actually become harmful. It's implied that Blitzo had an emotionally abusive relationship with Verosika. But ohh we know he had a fucked up childhood and has fear of forming emotional bonds so! Geuss it's okay! But when it comes to Stella, she's just downright mean, 1 dimensional, and literally says she's doing things for no reason other than to make Stolas suffer.
It's important to note that every single time a character gets a *reason* for their assholery, it becomes a *justification* in the way the show frames it. But whenever a character doesn't have a reason for being as asshole, like Stella (at least not one that's shown), that's where the show then draws the line.
This is harmful! Hate to break it to you but the bulk of abusive people out there were abused themselves. They have multitudes of reasons for why they are the way they are. But that doesn't excuse their actions! And I really hate that this is the standard of framing Helluva Boss has set up for their show because now, no matter how bad a character's actions are, they can slap on a sad backstory and suddenly make that character a sympathetic one.
Yeah but anyways idk. If you read all of that I thank you for taking ur time to listen to my 2 cents. The last episode I really enjoyed was the Ozzie's one and I'm just kinda bummed at a lot of this stuff I mentioned.

POST 1/? ON PROCESSING QAF
The show’s ending was more sad than bittersweet to me. I really love heart wrenching and bittersweet and knew QaF would be, so I was surprised at how perturbed I was at Brian’s ending.
Many, many people have thought long and hard on this, so please accept this thought train as more of processing for myself and less as me thinking I’m adding something new/profound to a fandom I literally just joined.
There was a thematic letdown to the whole season and a technical letdown to the very last few minutes. Combined, I left with a sour taste in my mouth.
This post regards the thematic letdown, and the technical letdown can be found in this tag/later post as well.
The show built up to Brian’s big come to Jesus moment for four seasons, then went sidewise in season 5.
That’s because what I thought was his come to Jesus moment and what the show did were totally different. I never felt monogamy or settling down was the core issue for Brian in his view of self or in his relationships with other. I thought it was clear that was a proxy battle, and we were leading up to the bigger, real self-examination.
However, in this email from a show-writer, I think the writers really did see Brian as primarily needing the journey of romantic love, instead of needing an overhaul of his whole worldview: https://queerasfolkfans.livejournal.com/2034990.html
They seem to think Brian was a mostly happy guy, needing to better appreciate romantic love. He grew in that regard, and from it, learned to apply that to other relationships too, and then chose to still not place romantic love as his priority, but at least understands why it was important to have experienced romantic love. That’s not a bad arc, actually. That’s also…not Brian’s story?
My personal key issue, and what I feel like was many other fans, is not that he started and ended the show single, dancing, and proud to be different. The issue is that he started and ended the show lost, hurt, and unhealed.
Why did S5 treat examining his upbringing as something that wouldn’t matter?
Why did S5 end with Brian saying he would visit Gus all the time, Michael saying he wouldn’t, and Brian resigning himself to that?
Why did S5 tease us with Brian and Ted, but didn’t give substance to their friendship?
Ironically, it was the show that gave all of Brian’s conflicts, inciting incidents, and motivations be wrapped around his romantic arc. This shortchanges the viewers. The show writer may say viewers are ignoring Brian’s own wants by wanting him in a relationship, but the show itself didn’t let S5 Brian really have any depth unrelated to Justin. Even growth unrelated to Justin himself had Justin as some sort of impetus.
In S1, Brian only cares about his job and sex, and to a lesser degree, the gang. He gets more and more perspective as the show goes on. Critically, he loses both his wealth (Stockwell firing) and sex (testicular cancer) before season 5. The natural next question for S5 to tackle is, okay, if life isn’t exclusively about money and sex, what is it about?
Because the show didn’t allow Brian to examine this for himself, the obvious answer is Justin, the only other thing Brian has ever been passionate about on screen. But that’s a resounding no in-show. Okay, Michael and/or Gus? Also, the show said no.
So….what does Brian have going for him, then? The show only said “no” they didn’t dig deep enough to say “yes” to anything.
It’s like, the show said at the start, Brian cares only about youth and wealth and those things can’t sustain you. Agreed!
Then, the show said during its duration, romantic love can’t sustain you. Agreed!
But then…it stopped there? What IS sustaining Brian?? It was so obviously set up to have him embrace his community, particularly, Gus, and move beyond the reactionary, traumatized kid he started the show as.
In a good environment, young people can explore several aspects of themselves. Whatever myriad of values they have, they can find outlets for it. And Brian does clearly have several values:
Competitive, creative, problem-solver, likes a challenge, protective, stubborn, a love for flaunting the rules, and a struggle between independence and love of close-knit community.
But the abuse, rejection, and homophobia of his parents did not allow him time to safely explore these facets of himself. He had to quickly cling to whatever would give him positive attention, and he built his life around reactivity to what his parents valued.
He did not get the chance in childhood to deeply know himself. Season 5 would have done well to allow him to explore more of himself, and detach himself from simply doing things he parents would hate, and discover what he, regardless of what they may think, does love. He was primed to do in S5. But they just had him react out of fear more. His wild lifestyle and his settled down lifestyle were both fear-based reactions to trauma in his life.
He took up with tricks out of fear of losing Justin to Hollywood, then he proposed out of fear of losing Justin (and Michael). I would have loved to have seen Brian be allowed to make choices without being put in a corner first. That would have been wonderful character development and allowed more depth to him.  AND if those choices weren’t relationship focused until the end of the season, even better. The whole season could have been “If I am no longer THAT, then what am I?” and it didn’t have to have relationship drama until the end for a grand finale.
Ironically, the show itself was only reacting instead of finding their own stance, just like Brian. They wanted a character who wasn’t only into his romantic love. But they never said what he WAS into.
In S5, they were perfectly setup, but totally fell short of completing Brian’s arc. He starts the show prioritizing sex and money. He does seem to learn that’s not sustainable. He wrestles with prioritizing romantic love, and the show says that doesn’t suit him. And yet, at the end, Michael and Gus are in places that Brian can’t really touch. So, we don’t know what exactly he should prioritize. What’s his new value set? His worldview? Literally, what will he does with his time now??
By all means, allow Brian to live a non traditional life! But they wasted time with going back and forth on MARRIAGE instead of letting us see Brian try and fail and learn what a life looks like not centered on money, sex, or childhood trauma.
Next posts will detail what I think are reasonable plotlines for S5, the small technical issue for the big last scene flop of S5, and will dive deeper into my thoughts on Brian’s value system that I mentioned in passing here :)

Matt Murdock x Reader
General Audiences, fluff
Warnings: None. Past Reader x Billy Russo mentioned.
I know I promised Dark!Matt x Reader first but I was listening to Taylor Swift while studying and this practically wrote itself. You guys think my world literature professors will give me extra credits for this?
Reader and Matt go on their first coffee date, and Reader can't help but notice just how different from her last relationship Matt is. Can be read as a stand alone or as the second part of "Ghosted", my angsty Billy Russo break-up fic.
"I've been spending the last eight months
Thinking all love ever does
Is break and burn, and end
But on a Wednesday in a cafe
I watched it begin again"
Begin Again - Taylor Swift
MY MASTERLIST | BUY ME A COFFEE
He was already at the coffee shop when you entered. You didn't know exactly why, maybe because you had tried to drag Billy there for weeks before finally giving up, but you had expected Matt to be late or not show up at all.
But he had, and somehow he had known it was you, if the adorable way he jumped up from his seat, big boyish smile on his face, was anything to go by. You waved at him until you realized what you were doing and put your hand down, instead stepping over to plant a shy, tentative hello kiss on his cheek, his smile growing even bigger at your sweet gesture.
"Hi, Y/N"
"Hi, Matt" It was probably the wrong move, but your curiosity got the best of you, "How did you know it was me?"
"I didn't" He joked, "I actually got up for the last five people to enter that door"
Your snort was inelegant, but his own chuckle told you he at least liked your spontaneity. You appreciated it, it was nice not having to feel self-conscious of your every move, wondering if maybe if you were a little more sophisticated, a little more pretentious, a little more like them, then maybe he would…
"It was your perfume" Matt explained, interrupting the darker turn your thoughts were taking. "Orange, strawberries and flowers, like jasmine. And something else, a woodsy undertone, patchouli, maybe cedar… no one else in the entire city smells quite like it"
There was a soft fluttering sensation in your stomach at his involuntary revelation of the amount of attention, the time he must have spent thinking about the way you smelled.
"It's called 'Luz'" You disclosed, "and they don't make it here. My mom sends me bottles of it to remind me of home"
"Light" He translated, nodding to himself as if the mystery made sense to him now, "It's fitting, you're luminous and warm, like sunshine"
His face turned beet red, horrified look in his expressive eyes and you understood he hadn't meant to say that last part out loud, but you enjoyed the compliment.
Besides, Matt Murdock was cute when he was flustered.
You took mercy on him, grabbing the back of the chair in front of you for something to do, to diffuse the tension. Matt, though, ever the gentleman, stopped you.
"Allow me, please" He requested, before pulling your chair out and helping you in once you were seated, and you felt yourself melt a little.
"I love that song"
"What?"
"What a heavenly way to die" Matt motioned at the headphones hanging from your neck, "what a time to be alive… because forever is in your eyes… but forever ain't half the time I wanna spend with you…" he hummed, deep voice barely over a whisper, along to the song that you were playing on your phone.
"You have very good hearing!" You commented, impressed.
"Yes, well…" He trailed off, shrugging. You wondered if he was afraid it would kill the mood, talking about his blindness, if he was scared you would bolt if he reminded you, or if it would be rude of you to tackle the subject so soon.
Maybe you were the one scared of fucking up.
Either way, you decided to deflect.
"I didn't take you for the Troye Sivan type"
"Why not? I'll have you know I'm hip, I'm very hip"
It was a total breach of first date protocol, not even you were so socially inept to not know bringing up an ex was a huge no. But you found yourself doing it anyway.
"It's not that, it's just my ex… whatever we were, he hated bubblegum pop and YouTubers, he was more into jazz and the old big ones, you know? Ray Charles, Nat King Cole, all that stuff. He said my music taste was- that it wasn't real music"
You braced yourself, reading Matt's face for any sign of judgment or discomfort your social faux pass might have caused him.
"No offense, but he sounds like kind of a dick" he replied, without missing a beat. You let out a relieved laugh,
"Yeah, he kind of is"
Luckily, your favorite waitress -and friend- showed up then, saving you from having to expand on the Billy Russo subject. Theo didn't say anything as she took your orders, but you could see her smirk as she took Matt in, undoubtedly analyzing everything about him in those few seconds. She gave you a thumbs-up as she went back to the counter.
You'd have to ask her later if she really did like Matt or if she just liked him cuz he wasn't Billy, but for now, you decided to take it as a good sign.
"I like this place" Matt commented, casually head tilted slightly, as if he was listening to something you couldn't. You wondered if that was the case. "The atmosphere, the music, the people. I must have walked right by it a hundred times going to work, and I never even noticed its existence"
"Most people don't" You explained, "The Slat is one of Hell's Kitchen's best-kept secrets. And luckily, that's just the way the owners like it" The best part of the place was that, how tiny and cozy the small hole-in-the-wall Cafe was. It was charming and vintage in a genuine way as if an old lady had decorated the place (it had) about thirty years ago and no one else had dared or bothered to touch anything. The floors were naked worn-out brick, the sturdy furniture metallic and mismatched, and real geraniums were hanging from the discolored walls. Combined with the lo-fi hip-hop beats coming from the old speakers and the smell of roasted coffee and burnt toast, you imagined it made for an interesting sensorial experience even for someone without his sight.
But the truth was, you had an ulterior motive in your choice of venue. You didn't only like this particular coffee place, but you felt safe there, your friends worked there. And there wasn't anything remotely sexy on a coffee date. Meeting at night could, in your experience, give a guy the wrong idea. Plus, a dinner date lasted at least an hour, so if it didn't go right, there was a lot of time for awkward silence or boring conversations. Coffee was easier, cheaper, and if you wanted to bolt, you could do so after fifteen minutes or so.
Not that it was going to happen now. Matt was charming, and he was making you feel comfortable. He didn't seem entitled or overbearing at all. No, your only regret so far was that Matt had kept his dark glasses on. You had only seen him without them a handful of times, and you got the distinct impression he would never take them off at a public place if he could help it, and, as insensitive and shallow as it was, you were finding yourself wanting to gaze into the pretty hazel of his big doe eyes.
And at that very moment, as if reading your mind, he chose to take them off.
"I'm glad you invited me" Matt was talking again, so you let go of your stupid longing thoughts and focused on listening, "otherwise, I would have never found it"
"I'm happy you like it, then. I know plenty of dive bars and hidden gems I can show you if you want…"
Matt did the adorable head tilt thing again,
"Does that mean there are going to be more dates?"
You felt your face warm up again, but Theo, bless her heart, chose that moment to bring your drinks, saving you again.
"Here you go, guys, one latte for the gentleman, and one caramel macchiato for the lady. Also, one hot cinnamon roll. On the house" she punctuated with a wink, making it clear she wasn't only talking about the perfectly split in half pastry. And something about her tone must have been obviously teasing because Matt lowered his head, abashed but still smiling.
"I apologize for Theo, she's still undomesticated"
"It's ok, I'm glad to know I have your friend's seal of approval"
You hummed distractedly, still giving Theo the stink eye as Matt tore onto his half of the pastry, moaning involuntarily as the warm, gooey deliciousness melted in his mouth. It was impossible to turn your eyes away from the curve of his jaw, the way the muscles of his neck worked as he chew, from his plump pink lips as they closed around the pastry. You wanted to reach out and clean the drop of sauce on the corner of his mouth with your fingertips, wanted to feel the prickle of his stubble against your palm, wanted to taste the cinnamon off his tongue.
You wanted him.
The realization washed over you like an epiphany, a benediction. After months and months of comparing everyone you met to your not-quite-ex, and finding them lacking, now Matt was making your heart skip a beat (or two or three) by simply being himself. Kind, chivalrous, cute. Not that you hadn't noticed when men exhibited those qualities before, at least objectively you had. But none had been able to move you, to attract you quite like Matt was doing. Had you been too busy obsessing over someone who treated you like trash to really allow yourself to react to those guys? Or was Matt Murdock simply hot enough to break through your haze of apathy? Did it even matter when he was reaching for your hand on the table and setting your skin alight with the softest, most innocent of touches? Pleading with the sweetest voice to… what?
Right. You would do right to pay attention to what he was trying to say. Probably.
"... hope you don't think I'm too forward for asking for this on our first date" To be perfectly straight, you were ready to agree with anything he would have requested of you right then, those huge hazel eyes of him ought to be illegal. "But I've been wanting to do it for a while and I'm not exaggerating when I tell you I think I might die if I don't kiss you right now"
If your heart was skipping before, at that moment, it stopped altogether. Or maybe, it started working on override, taking over completely, brain willingly and cheerfully relinquishing control of your body to it. Because next thing you knew, you were leaning over the table, pressing the most delicate, gentlest of kisses on Matt's delectable lips, sparks going off under your skin from that single point of contact. It was pleasing.
It was blissful.
It wasn't anywhere near enough.
And Matt seemed to feel the same way because, in a flash, his hand was finding your face, cupping it, keeping you in place as his lips pressed against yours more insistently, moving against them, coaxing them open just barely, just enough for your breath to mingle with his, just enough for the tip of his tongue to slide between your lips and withdrawing. Just a taste. Just a tease. Just a promise of what was to come if you dared to take what he was openly offering to you.
It was enough to make your heart race, wild and erratic, like a hummingbird trying to escape the cage of your ribs.
Matt broke the kiss, as breathless as you, forehead resting against yours, fingertips still clinging to your neck, not ready to let go of you yet. You could understand though, boy did you understand, you didn't want to let go either but lunchtime was running out, and you both had to get back to the office.
Once again, Matt seemed to be reading your mind.
"I don't want this date to end just yet" He confessed, thumb tracing your lower lip. You puckered your lips, kissing the pad.
"Me neither…"
"Can I walk you back to work?" His earnest request made you giggle.
"Well, we do work at the same building, you know.I think that means we have to walk in the same general direction…"
Matt giggled too, probably because he was still a little high from the kiss more than out of amusement at your cheeky comment. Somehow, you couldn't find it in yourself to mind.
"Lucky me then, I get to spend more time with you"
Would you guys be terribly late if you pulled him in and started a make out session there and then? But no, Matt was finally leaning away, letting you go back to your own seat, as much as you regretted it.
"A lot more time, probably" You pretended to sigh, "the Jones case will keep us in the office all night…"
"We can kick Foggy and Karen out, get some dinner together, a little lame for date number two, but I can be charming enough to make up for it" Matt joked, but you liked the way it sounded.
"Will you walk me home after, Mister Murdock?"
There surprise was clear on his expressive face, but he recovered fast.
"Of course" He stumbled out, "What kind of gentleman would I be if I didn't?"
There was something at the back of your mind, like you could almost think of a name in reply to that. But it was just out of reach.
And whatever it was, it couldn't be more important than the man in front of you.
"Great. Then it's a date"
Oh yeah, whatever it was, it couldn't possibly be more important than Matt Murdock and his dimpled, dazzling, adorable smile…

Tell Me of the dunmeshi wip 👀 that title bangs. also tell me about frat au and how much of it is based on The Frat.
dungeon meshi wip CONTAINS MANGA SPOILERS so putting it under a readmore. everyone else has to suffer thru frat au info.
frat au is only Sort Of based on The Frat (dear readers, this fanfiction author joined a fraternity and is a brother of [loud car horn]). due to the like ways fe3h works narratively, it felt a lot more true to a Good AU to be honest to an all-male fraternity, so it draws on The Frat's past (as we didnt haze, but hazing definitely used to occur) as well as info from other fraternities or fraternity-like structures (and a handful of How Do College-Age Boys Behave anecdotes coming directly from my real life college-age brother who is Not a frat boy).
sylvain, dimitri, and others are in a frat. their fathers (plus rodrigue lol) were in this frat. etc. not exactly explored but crucial to the narrative: how traditional fraternities uphold like lineage and legacies in college settings and why that creates bad gatekeeping etc etc etc. basically the ways fraternities suck on an individual level (hazing, unhealthy relationship to substances, pressure to conform to a certain set of standards, etc) AND the ways they operate on a structural level in a shitty way.
the plot however is: sylvain returns from some time off at university. in his time off, he's effectively ghosted his friends and no one knows what happened/why he vanished. felix is recovering from an injury that delayed his journey to become a professional tennis star (<- lol). they've known each other for so long, they both have dead brothers, but also how much do they really know about each other?
posting this snippet SPECIFICALLY for brothers of [siren wail]. i think youll all recognize the inspo for 'the green room.'
“maybe we should shift to explosions,” raphael said as he came back into the room, looking over at the car crumpling into a tree playing on the television. “for the vibe.” “the vibe,” agreed sylvain, privately wondering if there was that much of a difference between crashes and explosions. he figured that any kind of disaster suited the green room. the windowless room in the phi ep basement––named for the carpeting, which had, once, allegedly, been green (sylvain’s efforts to deep clean last spring had failed to prove anything except that one should always wear shoes in the green room)––was less of a vibe and more…well. the couches were all leather––easier to clean if someone puked on them; the ceiling had suspicious stains; the walls were covered in bad murals painted over several years of pledging––and sylvain would know they were bad, being an art history major; the tv sat on a pile of wooden crates. at least the sound system wasn’t terrible. when sylvain wanted to impress girls, he never brought them to the green room. he sat back on the couch and spread his legs. “yeah, fuck it,” he heard himself say. “explosions.”
dungeon meshi fic is suuuper rough rn. its Probably a 5+1 of 5 times marcille's friends died and 1 time they didnt (hahaha) but what i have written so far is all about chilchuck going senile and dying. the fic is very obviously tackling like "what happens when the people you love and remember as young and full of life grow old, and how is preparing for someone's death as painful as their death itself" BUT ALSO is about "what if the dragon part of falin makes her age at the same rate as marcille...and how is that, in some ways, worse than if she just lived as a human did?" bcs As You Know im always interested in the question "when is it true that living beyond when the narrative expects you to is worse than dying?" that part just doesnt have a lot written.
there is NOT a lot written that i posted for wip wednesday but here:
chilchuck has lost most of his teeth, so he has to eat porridge and other soft foods. “at least it’s not monsters,” he says to marcille every morning, which was funny the first few times and now is depressing. “yeah,” says marcille, pouring some sugar into his tea. it’s unclear to marcille––who, despite having half a century to prepare for this, feels unprepared––exactly when chilchuck seems to think it is. he keeps asking about his wife, his shop, his daughters, whether or not they could resurrect falin.  “have i reached out to her?” he asks. his wife, he means. mostly he seems to think they’ve just defeated the winged lion. marcille has not gained much patience in last fifty eight years; having to admit to mistakes she made fifty eight years ago every day for the last couple of years has been––hard. it’s been hard. “no,” she says, gritting her teeth. chilchuck’s ex-wife died fourteen years ago. marcille learned many mornings ago it’s best to convince chilchuck to write her a letter that cannot be sent rather than make him relive his grief every day.

Thanks for answering my ask....If you don't mind me asking (again), can I ask, what are your top 10 (or top 7) favorite media (can be books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series)? Why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before.....
My top 7 favourite media in general actually ends up fluctuating a lot considering that I tend to hyperfixate on one thing and then kinda get a bit lazy and go and try and find something else to hyperfixate on.
It will be really hard to rank this so Iam just gonna tell you my top 10 in no particular order (again) sorry about that.
Currently Iam hyperfixating on Jujutsu kaisen I really love the premise of the story and how it's built in this way where the story just repeats itself in different ways. It kinda sends the message of history always repeats itself and if it doesn't it will rhyme in a twisted way. I also love the way gege handles the themes of the story. However, I do think the story has a lot of wasted potential especially centering around themes of misogyny and just female characters in general.
Tumblr media
There is also MHA. I think it has a whole lot of wasted potential as seen when I talk about in my blog I have kinda became a hater on what the manga contains because I feel like it could of been better and we could of had so much more in general but we just don't it's a big let down for me but I love seeing peoples view on the manga and how people would rewrite the series or different aspects in general.
Tumblr media
I also like attack on titan. Yes I do like the ending of attack on titan (controversial but yeah 🤷‍♀️) I think isayama made a great choice in ending the series the way he did. I think the seires follows the idea of history repeats itself especially if people forget history and I love the way he depicted erens character how Eren is both a selfish and selfless fool at the same time. The interactions between the younger and older generation of characters for example Armin and Erwin parallels/contrasts are really interesting. I also love how both Keith and magath were just two sides of the same coin fighting something bigger then them both and both dying together back in the ship felt like a decent conclusion to both their characters.
Tumblr media
Violet evergarden is a great series where the main protagonist has to learn love, the different types of love and how to love. I loved how each episode had its own story that made it very unique and the animation style is flawless. I do have my own problems with the ending especially with violet and Gilbert's relationship (the way they met and the 9year age gap isn't doing it for me) I think the series should of simply ended with violet learning self love and acceptance.

Avatar the last airbender is a masterpiece of a kids show. The themes it tackles like survivors guilt, imperialism and genocide I think it handles them very well. However, I do have a problem with the way they handled aangs character in book 3 and how they tried and failed to handle the theme of sexaul assault. Katara's character was also done very dirty I wish she accepted bloodbending but understood how it can be helpful and dangerous at the same time. Considering I watched with my sister it does have a special place in my heart and I love the content the fandom creates.

Percy Jackson was like one of the first books that got me into reading and greek mythology. I love the series from what I remember reading I absolutely love the parallels the series has, how it actually battled certain issues, how it has a perfect balance with humour and seriousness in the books and so much more. I also love the irony that rick puts latter in the hero of Olympus books how every child of the big 3 ends up being scared of their own element is a great touch or the focus on fatal flaws is very interesting how one thing can be your downfall even if it's something good like loyalty. To be honest I always found annabeth and Luke's relationship in the books to be very weird especially with how Luke is 21 and annabeth was like 12 so Iam glad that rick chose to change it when it came to writing the live action.
Tumblr media
Purple hyacinth. Oh if I had to recommend anyone to read a webtoon this is the one that I would recommend. I absolutely love all of the characters and the character development there is. The series concept is amazing ( I don't wanna spoil it so I won't say much) and I love how there is music that goes with the chapters you read, it's just amazing. I hope we get a new chapter soon considering that the author is still on hiatus due to some health issues.

TURNABOUTS FAIR PLAY what are your top five horror movies??
Aaahhh, I've been uno reversed~. Touché, darling!
The last three are in no particular order and they're all trilogies I'm counting as a set. Second place is usually subject to change at any given point in time, it just fluctuates depending on my mood.
1: Candyman (1992) - Not just my favorite horror movie, but my favorite movie of all time, period. Taking the mythology from "The Forbidden" and turning it into the story that they did? The shots, the symbolism, the casting, the sheer power of how seductive the relationship is between Helen and Candyman, the tragedy. Truly a movie for all disaster bi's out there. Helen's story and the way it's handled! This movie gave me such a triumph out of tragedy, and it's so beautiful. It holds up brilliantly, it's high art, it's everything. The 2021 sequel was also excellent.
2: Malignant (2021) - Absolutely bonkers in the fucking yonkers. This movie was made for fun and that one specific fight sequence in the police station. It's wild, it's not taking itself seriously, and yet it's fascinating to analyze and comb through. Periodically I just get hit with the need to reassess and think about elements of this movie. Maybe one day I'll get back to that fic trilogy I had planned for it. An excuse to pour my analysis into a written narrative? Perhaps...
3: Hellraiser original trilogy (1987-1992) - Is that the religious trauma talking? Maybe a little. These movies grabbed me by the throat. The first was a near-perfect adaptation of "The Hellbound Heart" and an interesting look at Clive Barker doing directorial work. I actually adore the second one to pieces. It dives beautifully into its own mythology, into revenge, into the horror of medical malpractice as well as the body horror and sexuality. Kirsty Cotton is, imo, perhaps the Final Girl of all time. I also appreciate Tiffany, she's a very good example of a positive neurodivergent deuteragonist in that movie. The third one is...WOOF~. In all seriousness though, I'd always been curious about the films since childhood (the posters and box art of the Hell Priest and the other Cenobites used to grab my attention whenever we went to the video store, Mom used to have to come find me and pull me away from "my staredowns with Pinhead") but I'd been anxious for so long to try them because I hadn't had much exposure to body horror in films. Finally gave them a shot, went "oh, huh, this isn't that bad," and then got sucked in by the movies' approach to the topics they tackle.
4: Scream original trilogy (1996-2000) - My gateway to horror, as I saw the first one when I was seven. My uncles were babysitting me and they never really worried about whatever I saw them watching. They've stuck with me my entire life and honestly they're just so damn fun. The writing is solid and while 2 and 3 have their flaws, I'll defend them to the death, they're still fun and they still work well. Sidney Prescott was my first Final Girl and she'll always hold a special place in my heart.
5: The Shining 3-part TV film (1997) - it's the superior adaptation. Full stop. Kubrick's adaptation has some gorgeous camera work, a few memorable tracks in its score and some iconic lines but it's so lacking. It misses the true heart and strength and point of the story because Kubrick went and did his own thing. The 90s made-for-tv adaptation is brilliant. It has its weak points and there's a few things that visually aged in a clunky way, but the heart is there. The catharsis and the hope is there. It moved me to tears and it gave me everything I could have asked for and more.
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Fear Street trilogy (2021) - They were fun, a lot of fun, and for someone who's never been a fan of R.L. Stine, these were still easy to enjoy. I heard about the trilogy being released and it felt like the kind of thing I remembered from childhood as far as gimmicky releases went, so each weekend, I dove onto the couch and watched them drop on Netflix one by one. I still have a lot of issues and complaints with them, dgmw, but they're a solid summer watch, they really played around with popular subgenres and I think Janiak and her cast and crew did well. One day I'll get back to my fics for this trilogy too. Justice for my girl Ruby Lane.
Us (2019) - ngl this one sat in my brain for weeks afterwards. I need to rewatch it, it's such a good psychological horror.
Urban Legend (1998) - I have a fuckoff weird relationship with this movie. Like, that deserves its own post, probably. But because I have such a weird relationship with it, I felt the need to give it an honorable mention.
Halloween (2018) - I'm here for senior citizen final girl Grandma Laurie Strode kicking ass, I love seeing a survivor reach that age and still be willing to do what it takes to survive and protect those she loves.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) - this is a weird one because I wouldn't say I enjoy watching it like most other movies. But it's a really interesting study piece, especially the more I read nonfiction books that go into depth and detail about the film and the time period it's contemporary to. I don't watch this movie for fun, I watch it to study, to analyze, to self-inform and to then improve my ability to apply those skills to other horror movies I watch.
