"This Christmas night bestowed peace on the whole world;
So let no one threaten;
This is the night of the Most Gentle One -
Let no one be cruel;
This is the night of the Humble One -
Let no one be proud.
Now is the day of joy –
Let us not seek revenge;
Now is the day of Good Will -
Let us not be mean.
In this Day of Peace -
Let us not be conquered by anger.
Today the Bountiful impoverished Himself for our sake;
So, rich one, invite the poor to your table.
Today we receive a Gift for which we did not ask;
So let us give alms to those who implore and beg us.
This present Day casst open the heavenly doors to our prayers;
Let us open our door to those who ask our forgiveness.
Today the DIVINE BEING took upon Himself the seal of our humanity,
In order for humanity to be decorated by the Seal of DIVINITY."

Byler fanfic idea: Mike and Will are arguing and Will brings up how Mike forgot Will’s birthday and forced him to be a third wheel and then Mike looks like he just got punched in the face and he feels so fucking guilty because he had a whole special thing planned for Will on his birthday but instead just yelled at him a bunch.

One of my favorite on going jokes in TLT is artifacts from the original Lyctors, saints from ten thousand years ago, are mostly meaningless nonsense, often bad sex jokes. They are just crude notes passed between friends made meaningful due to their age and what they tell you about the people that made them, just like the graffiti at Pompei or Victorian erotica

Will my suffering never cease
- went to good Friday evening service even tho it's not a day of obligation, didn't go yesterday evening to Maundy Thursday for a variety of reasons
- priest manages to fit homophobia and transphobia into his sermon. Not even gay marriage. Just unions, that let ppl share taxes and have hospital visiting rights. And big bad scary surgery. Like. Completely unrelated to the matter at hand. Says SO LITTLE abt the Passion, managed to talk for 10 minutes without really saying ANYTHING. Takes Pilate's 'what is truth' and instead of engaging in the long philosophical and theological discussion around that question, decides to use it as a rallying cry against wokeism and a godless progressive society.
- my two ex best friends were there. Ran into them. + One's husband, who I introduced her to a decade ago. Like I'm mostly over that, no longer shitty and resentful, fully know that it was partially my fault and born from my own terribleness at 19 and undiagnosed untreated mental illness. Still uhhh hurts tho??? As a reminder?
- music bad. Ok I'm petty. I'll give the trads (1) point. I don't like guitar mass. I will NOT agree with the trads in assigning moral weight to my aesthetic preference. It's simply a preference, which does not make any musical form inherently superior to the others. But the triduum really lends itself to Latin hymns and chants, in my heart. My other fave church music is traditional Black spirituals. I would greatly prefer either. But just. If it sounds like an acoustic version of a pop love song. I just. I can't. I KNOW I'm the weird about Jesus romantically girlie. But I am not vibin with this folks
Literally would have simply Walked Out. Hit da bricks during the homily. But was with my family so 1) cannot out myself 2) did not have house keys on me, so I was suck regardless
Anyway I said I wasn't going to do fun things today but I'm so upset and cranky and I did chores all day, I am going to catch up on dungeon meshi. Marcille is my best favourite cringefail girl I'm obsessed with her and surely the wlw neurotic fussy mage who loves her friends will not betray me like this

“Jesus we behold you lying in the manger…We see you as poor, in order to teach us that true wealth does not reside in things but in persons, and above all in the poor: forgive us, if we have failed to acknowledge and serve you in them.”

young devout Catholics: A lot of laity don't really seem to know or understand a lot of core Church teachings, so it's important that we clearly teach and live it :) boomer hippie Catholics: Wow, so arrogant and unkind. Extremist millennials like you will be the death of the Church. young devout Catholics: ??????????

On the Blessedness of Worms
Homily for the Full Moon, written 3-24-24.
Tumblr media
Dearly Beloved,
Happy Full Moon! And such a special Full Moon…a full lunar eclipse and the “Worm Moon”. As such, I am moved today to speak about worms.
As I always remind myself and everyone, as pagans we believe in a naturalized theology. We look to the patterns of nature, the Logos, for our knowledge of both the nature and the will of the Divine, and our current moment in these patterns of nature is that of early Spring. It is this moment, commemorated in the Farmer’s Almanac as the “Worm Moon”, the time of Spring when the earthworms start to churn the Earth beneath our feet, that I wish to speak of today.
Worms are often thought of as lowly creatures. Often a character portrayed as powerful in a story will refer to a character portrayed as weaker as a “worm”. Worms live beneath our feet, in the dirt and underneath the stones. Worms are simple, with a sparse nervous system, and are not known for their intelligence or courage, traits that we humans tend to value.
But worms are amazing.
Worms eat the decaying matter left behind by the amazing and beautiful variety of life produced by nature. Worms break up and allow air to pass into the soil, allowing for the growth of plants that most animals, including ourselves, need to live. Worms transform the world from one full of death and broken things into a world ready and waiting for new life and growth.
Now, many people are disgusted by worms. They squirm around in disturbing ways. Often they are slimy and covered in the soil and decaying matter they thrive upon. For these reasons, often we don’t want to see worms. We want them to stay in the deep, in the dark, underneath the surface. We acknowledge their important work, but we want them to do that important work far away from us.
This meditation upon worms leads me to an important question: what other things, what other people, are we benefitting from that we prefer to stay underneath the surface? In the dark. Far away from us. Who else are we consistently forgetting? The Covid pandemic showed us that the service workers, health workers, grocers, sanitation workers, and so on were “essential workers”; we learned that the world ran on the backs of these humble, underpaid, overworked, and often horribly exploited people. But we didn’t pay these people any more. We didn’t give them better benefits or conditions of labor. We didn’t give them a share in ownership of the means of production. And this is just one example…migrant labor, prisoner labor, volunteer labor, temporary and day labor, service labor, the labor done by the disabled, the labor done by the disenfranchised…all of this labor that is required for our world to live and grow and thrive is often unseen, unacknowledged, and poorly rewarded.
So let us look under the rocks. Let us look in the shadows. Let us look in the dark. Let us look for the unappreciated and necessary workers that make our world possible, and raise them up. Let us show them how much we really appreciate what they mean and how valuable they are. Let us celebrate and lift up the worms.
Happy Full Moon.
In love,
Soror Alice

pain is not the same as prayer, but it’s close. blood is not clean and pure like holy water but it runs true enough anyway. give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. leave what we can’t forgive bleeding. leave it fresh and wounded like an animal. call it blessed anyway, call it food. thank you, Lord, for the parts of me i soiled, when soil was all i could hold on to, face held down in the earth. take the dirt and call it good, for it was me. it was me.

I don't know why but I love shows, movies, books, etc. where the girls wear dresses with aprons and Mary Janes shoes. I low-key wish I could wear that in my day-to-day...

I can wear a dress that's short enough to not get in my way but not so short that I'm uncomfortable, y'know? It's a style that never seems to die.
(Plus aprons make it so that I can wear a pretty dress without worrying about getting stains on them. And there are some really pretty apron patterns out there.)

Robot Preachers: As Bad as You Might Have Guessed
The good news is that people prefer as their preachers human beings with a soul over mindless robots using AI for their sermons.
The bad news is that enough congregations have tried robot preachers that there can be a study about it.
