You heard the words, but they barely registered with you. Your eyes were wide open and yet unseeing. Even the tears that flowed freely from their corners that made the world around you completely blurry didn’t even bother you in the moment. Heavy breaths lifted your chest again and again in an agonizing rhythm that only seemed to amplify still.

The scene was replaying once more in front of your mental eye, blocking out everything else: Astarion being dealt the final blow, his pained, strained scream and the huge splatter of blood. And then: his body toppling over, lifeless now. In that scene you screamed until it felt like your lungs are burning up.

And then the scene started anew.

“Darling, it was just a nightmare, just a dream, my sweet – look at me! Please!”, Astarion pleaded with you. He was kneeling in front of you, in his tent – where you had both drifted off to your dreams. His hands were holding onto your shoulders, now shaking you softly in another attempt to grab your attention.

But it was of no use, the hook that the repeating nightmares had sunk into your chest sat way to deep now to be easily taken out.

You started shaking as the gruesome images wouldn’t let you go.

Astarion pressed his forehead against yours while his hands wandered up gently, trying to hold up your face so you would hopefully look into his worried but very much lively crimson eyes.

“Love, you’re not getting rid of me that easily. Weeds do not die quickly,” he whispered to you ever so softly. And somehow his stupid words and the way his hands were now fully cupping your face rattled you enough to start pull you out of your shock state.

But you were still shaken deeply to your core, trembling like a leave, easily ripped away by the wind again.

So the vampire let his thumbs gently stroke over your face while he slowly leaned in to press his lips to your shivering ones. He felt the soft rise of your cheekbones under the pads of his thumbs and the wetness of salty tears that coated them. Meanwhile, his other fingertips softly floated over the heated skin of your neck, immediately catching the rhythm of your thundering heartbeat. His lips touched yours softly, first lightly squeezing your top and then your bottom lip with his before he gently parted your lips with his own to deepen the kiss.

That’s when you felt yourself rise slowly out of your traumatic stupor. You answered him by sighing into his open lips while his thumbs wandered over your cheeks again picking up a calming rhythm. Your hands wandered to his chest and softly curled in his shirt: trying to confirm that he was indeed there with you and wanting to deepen the kiss just a little more.

You stayed like this for a few moments longer until Astarion withdrew a little, causing you to immediately sigh with yearning. But you saw him now and were assured that he was fine. The teasing sparkle in his eyes and his signature smirk did the rest to convince you of his well-being. His hands remained soothingly on your face.

“There you are again. I’m glad my masterful seduction skills saved you from your pit of despair, my love”, he whispered and leaned his forehead against yours again with a smile.

You softly frowned at him and one of your hands at his chest boxed him lightly. The vampire just laughed. And then he kissed you again – just double-checking of course.

-Also colors. Lots of them

-He said something like “when you live in the dark you forget how colorful the world is” at some point and I’m running with that.

-He can’t go out in the sun anymore, can’t see all the color the world has to offer. He can at least fill his shared home with it though

-Carpets, blankets, pillows, curtains. Any oddly colored furniture in the market and he’s giving you those fucking eyes

-You know what I’m talking about. The 🥺

-You always end up getting it (at half price. I think he would be rlly good at bargaining)

-Speaking of-

-You become a frequent customer at the night market now, congrats

-They sell some weird shit there, ngl. But at least you find neat stuff

-But it’s worth it! You get to see ur vampire partner enjoy himself AND not get burned to death! Win win!

-you two hang laundry up to dry a little bit before sunrise

-like yeah he reads. He’s read a lot before, but he didn’t really have access to a variety when trapped, and certainly not on the road.

-speaking of books, I feel like he would really try to get you into a series he likes so you have something to talk about

-I mean, you guys ALWAYS have something to talk about, but more like a common interest thing

-in general I think he just really likes spending time with you

-he spent so long alone, now he wants to be around someone. But not just any someone, the first person he’s cared about in years

-he also just likes to be touching you

-cuddling, yes, (also a thing he had to work up to btw) but also just like

-ur legs pressing together as you sit next to each other, your back against his chest or his back against yours, having your arms or hands linked as you two walk (I think he would REALLY dig the arm link thing specifically), just leaning on each other

“I’m not scared.” Katsuki snaps at you. His shoulders are tense, though, and you can hear the irregular jump of his heart. You can see the color in his cheeks, too.

“I didn’t say you were.” You counter, quirking a brow.

“Then—just fucking—do it.”

Your smile is an amused curl; a cat that has got its angry, little canary.

“Easy, tiger.” You respond, “I’m not a barbarian. I don’t want to—“

You search for the right words, humming.

“Make a mess of you.”

Katsuki swallows hard, eyes as red as a rose, flickering up to your face.

“You’re dragging this out.” He accuses.

“I’m trying to be considerate.” You counter, stepping towards him. You step up in front of him, towering over him so that he has to tip his head up to look at you. It exposes the column of his throat. He spreads his legs a little, just fractionally, but you take that as invitation; you stand between his knees and gaze down at him.

(And really, he just thinks you’re playing with your food.)

“It’s fine,” he grunts, leaning back, “just—quit taking so long.”

You tsk, “and here I thought I’d be the impatient one. You’d think you’re the one who hasn’t eaten in days.”

“Keep wasting time and I’ll retract my agreement to this.” He snaps.

You sigh, but finally bring your knee up to settle on the couch outside of his own leg.

And just like that, you’re straddling his waist.

His hands hover, uncertain for a moment.

Oh, his poor heart.

You can hear it jump and pump and gush, quickening, tempo rising. Your mouth waters.

You touch his jaw delicately.

His hands settle tentatively on the flare of your waist.

You tip forward, eager, suddenly starving when you catch the river of a vein in his throat. Your nose nudges gently at his jaw, down to his neck. You try to control yourself. His hands squeeze uncertainly at your waist.

“Hold still for me?” You murmur.

He inhales sharply, in hot pain, when your teeth bare down on the tender line of his throat.

You groan.

His hands grasp at you, bruising, and tight. You think he can’t decide if he’s trying to get away or nearer to you.

He thrashes a little, contrary to your request, and you press harder into his shoulders. You urge him to sink back into the couch—it should only be another moment before—

His muscles, large and threatening, suddenly slacken.

His head lolls backwards a little and you catch it carefully. Cradle it like a babe.

Blood is warm and heady on your tongue.

You detach yourself only to look at his face for a moment. His eyes are dilated and hazy, heavy-lidded. Such a strong and stubborn man, such an uptight and difficult man, now soothed. Now putty in your hands.

“There,” you praise, “just lay back and relax. I’ll take care of you now.”

And this time, when you latch onto his neck, it’s his hand, broad and warm, that comes up to cradle your skull.

that's Nat! poor guy. he recently woke up on the side of the road covered in mud in his rental car with no memory of the past ten days... oh, and he's somehow turning into a vampire now! surprise!

so ya, he has no reason initially to suspect the mystery delicious scent he keeps smelling is human blood.... he doesn't know vampires exist let alone that he is one!! he's just broke n hungry n thinkin about sweet baked goods......

he's an anxious, awkward lad with a big heart and lots of feelings about things. he loves animals! especially cats! and in the story will soon come into possession of a very odd ugly scrungly rescue cat named Grub, who is the light of his life c: he's a vegetarian and an excellent cook, and shows his love for others by cooking their favourite dishes :3 he is incredibly smart and did well back in high school, but as an adult he's rather apathetic and unmotivated, n struggles with his self-esteem quite a bit 😔

Nat works (mostly) night shifts at dodgy petrol station chain Stop 'N' Go, where he takes naps on the clock and encourages shoplifting. he becomes a manager in book two purely by accident, but doesn't stick at it very long

he has schizotypal personality disorder too (like me!), which means he struggles a lot with paranoid ideation and social situations, as well as some mild psychosis. he struggles to make and keep friends, but he really does love people and being included in a friendship group, even if he's pretty nervous. his desperation for friendship often leads to him overextending himself though - kiddo will do almost anything to feel useful and liked :c

Nat's character arc mostly focuses on him learning his place in the world and becoming steadfast in his own values, and LEARNING what those values are n not letting himself get pushed around so much. he's an earnest, kind-hearted dude who wants to do good in the world, and he's trying to balance this with the fact that he now has to feed on human life to survive

he's also trying to solve the mystery of what happened during his ten day disappearance...... aaaand he might end up on a quest to kill and eat the centre of the giant vampire hivemind known as "the Garble" at some point. nbd <3

Nat's vampirism comes with a monster mode! it kicks in when he's extremely stressed or extremely hungry, and has rather too many mouths and eyes and claws. in this state, he is still able to recognise friends, but it takes him a lot more effort and concentration, and he's unable to understand unfamiliar humans or vampires as anything other than food, threats, or resources. it's a painful transformation and Nat really doesn't like going monster mode. it's very scary for him and can be very dangerous for others around him. his partner Quinn and his friends Alex and Zeke can usually calm him down though..... his other friend Yvonne will stay as far away from monster mode Nat as possible, thank you very much

Nat's preferred prey is abusive bosses and dirtbag CEOs and rich pricks, etc etc etc, all of which his own personal rich prick, Quinn, helps him track down and access. he is also not above eating particularly awful customers hahaha. like. if someone is screaming in his face for no reason or it's some creepy dude harassing one of his younger female co-workers, yeah, he might just go for a little spontaneous snack. can you blame him

I’ve been working on some silly postgame fic stuff—I really wanted to write something with baby Astarion being a vampire with all the drawbacks now that the parasite is gone, so one morning while Tav is asleep and unaware Astarion is feeling tiny, he pulls back the curtains to look outside because he misses the pretty sunshine…

Cue Tav waking up to a loud thud and open sobbing that does not sound like any sound Astarion would ever make unless he was tiny, and Astarion hiding away from the beam of light with his face burnt and refusing to show Tav because he thinks he’s going to get in trouble for breaking a rule like he would with Cazador (and he also got used to being tadpoled and baby brain him forgot the sun burns again now) but ofc Tav is having absolutely none of that and just wants to patch up and comfort the little elfling with lots of love, cuddles and healing magic… I’ve only just started it but I imagine Tav working on healing his wounds and having him on top of them for some tummy time so they can get at his face, not to mention he definitely gets to feed, not from a bottle but directly because it’s more personal that way. He’s definitely ok but it was a bit of a scare!

I’m working on the idea more hehe sorry to dump it here I just get so excited about my agere concepts—

But just saying sweet things about it wouldn't be accurate to how he actually bites- it hurts, and he plans to leave a mark, and SOMETIMES it's met with a 'sorry' or 'I couldn't help myself' but most of the time he just does it with no shame or guilt.

VC Fic Rec Friday is back! Here's some more random fics I enjoyed.

Zealotry for the Damned by @faerywhimsy - E, 13607 words, Armand/Daniel (sort of). This AU is AMAAAZING!!! Based on the idea that Armand was originally the villain of QotD, it explores his adventures serving Akasha before she ultimately chooses Lestat over him (devastating!). This made my lil monsterfucker heart so damn happy because it's a dark twist on The Devil's Minion and it's DELICIOUS. Armand is so mean to his pet and it's just 🥵🥵🥵 Nik absolutely NAILED the creepy awful monster-human "romance" I read this fic two months ago and it still haunts me (compliment). Daniel being the goodest lil bloodbag boytoy too 🥺 And the really artful tie-ins to actual scenes on QotD and other events in the Chronicles! Ugh it's just so good. I'm throwing a fit.

Out, Damned Spot by @covenofthearticulate - G, 2774 words, Louis/Lestat. No words just 🥹🥹🥹 It's ADORABLE!!!!! Reminders of just how young Lestat is, of how much he and Louis do love each other despite everything, just them being cute and domestic with Claudia!!! Definitely a fic to read if you need something that will make you smile and giggle and kick your feet like an idiot.

Aftercare by lani/@santinos-neckline - Not Rated, 1908 words, Mael & Santino. Listen I am just so starved for fics with my guy Mael and this was a godsend. Vivid, poetic imagery, the awkward petty teenage rivalry, the SALT, the fact that despite whatever it is they have going on Santino chooses to help Mael anyway. I love it!

Fate as it Flows by @apoptoses - E, 14808 words, Armand/Daniel. The "watersports" tag had me a lil hesitant because I had never read that before and I didn't know if I would like it, ngl, but YOOOOO it was SO WORTH IT to read this fic!!! Istfg @apoptoses can make anything sound hot as hell if she tries hard enough. It hits all the buttons for me with Armand being creepy and spying on Daniel's mind, Daniel being too embarrassed to ask for what he wants (mood), the little details about their relationship like Armand not specifying that Daniel had to ask permission but Daniel waiting for it anyway 😂 10/10 would recommend this fic fundamentally changed me as a person lmao

Moon Above, Sun Below by @monstersinthecosmos - E, 9767 words, Armand/Daniel. CAUTION: PRODUCT MAY BE HOT. Omg this is everything. A really fun take on the Devil's Minion years when Daniel was doing other people for Armand, looking into just how fucking thirsty he was for this freaky lil vampire!!! And then Armand realising, oh shit, maybe I'm just as thirsty for this crazy-ass monsterfucker lmao. It's SO GOOD!

Hello!!!! I've been loving your art and Eli content recently and your most recent piece of the 'Returned 'Embrace' was gorgeous! Question, what's the story behind it??? Who is the other person with them, I'm so curious hehehehe

The short answer, that is Eli’s sire!! The vampire who turned him.

Eli diablerized her (drank so deeply that he consumed her soul) some years after his embrace.

With this piece I really wanted to emphasize the the mixture of horror and intimacy of the moment. Eli was deeply obsessed with her, to the point where all he wanted was to be a part of her and for her to be a part of him.

At first glance, it’s almost a lovers embrace, but then you see how forceful he’s being, yanking her head back and holding her hand so tightly that his fingers break the skin. Eli doesn’t know actual selfless love, everything that he is and does, much like vampirism itself, is ultimately selfish. He thinks he loves her and loves him equally, but in the end he has to force her to be still.

I like to include a lot of quiet symbolism for myself, like the background is a stark white void. Someone tagged this piece as eyestrain and i wanted to say good!! It should be hard to look at. It’s a murder after all. But it’s also a private moment, nothing else matters to either of them. They are completely focused on each other. Her final death, and his first diablerie. The loss of his humanity and her unlife.

Even in they way they’re sitting, i wanted to scream intimacy. He crowds her, but not entirely. She sits in his lap while he sits on his heels, it’s not an easy position to get up from. She went into this position willingly, having kept him under her and subservient for years through use of a blood bond. The blood bond doesn’t just force loyalty, but intense feelings as well. He was really into her already before the bond, but the trauma inflicted by his aggressive turning seen here (trigger warning for old art and gore) was what really broke his mind, especially when afterwards she used the bond to convince him that she tore out his throat because she loved him. All of it twisted what love was in his mind, he was lil obsessive before but now he was WAY WORSE.

She built it up more and more until she created a monster who would do anything to be with her, relying upon the inherent safety of the bond and unaware it was the bond itself that would push him into wanting to consume her. It wasn’t hurting her or even against her wishes in his mind, because she had convinced him fully of how much she loved him and how violence was the way to show it so why wouldnt she want this?

Obviously it was a lie, but he continues to center his delusions around it to this day. He wants SO BADLY to be loved but its an impossible wish because Eli doesnt know what it means to actually love someone.

I actually drew a follow up to this piece, but didnt post it because i felt like it was too on the nose and didnt quite imply the feeling i wanted from it. Its called Shes gone and now you have to face her lies alone.

I love how his brothers are focused on saving the world from the monsters (as they should be, absolutely no shaming here) and Donnie’s solely focused on the brother that’s on the wrong side of the fight. This kid just spends the entire episode trying to fix him and worrying about him, and it’s so GOSH DARN HEARTWARMING- WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME DEE 🥺❤️💜

Mikey: “Aw, man! Frankenstein? We gotta take on Frankenstein too?”

Donnie: “Not just that. We gotta save Raph and turn him back to normal!”

Leo: “Come on, we got to get to Frankenstein’s castle while it’s still light out.”

Donnie: “What about Raph?”

Leo: “I don’t know, man. Unless you or Renet come up with any bright ideas, Raphael may be lost forever.”

FIRST OFF: MR. NARDO, YOU DID NOT JUST GIVE UP ON YOUR BRO LIKE THAT! THE HAY, MAN

Raph: “I NEVER SAID I WANTED HELP!”

The look on his face- they’re both going to be reliving this in their dreams for weeks. Raph watching the terror overcome his little bro’s face and Donnie feeling all of it. WHY DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO BE DIFFICULT?!

Donnie: “I’m sorry, Raphael.”

He knows that if he doesn’t do something fast, his big bro is probably gonna bite him and ruin any chances of him fixing this in the future. Genius gotta do what a genius gotta do. 🥺

Yk, the first time I saw this scene, I was mortified that Donnie seemingly sent his brother to his death, because when Raph was charging him, he purposefully ran to this. Which means he planned to drop him.

Then I remembered that vampires can’t die without specific circumstances. Donnie knew that, and therefore knew the fall wouldn’t kill him. Hurt and knock him out? Sure. But not kill.

And when he holds up his staff in preparation to cut the chains, there’s a moment of hesitation and brief struggle as he summons the strength to even do it.

LOOKIT. This does not look like the face of someone who is satisfied with his actions. He’s seriously gonna be haunted by this for a long time 😞

ERGO, CRISIS AVERTED! HE’S STILL GOOD BOI AND BESTEST OF GREEN BEANS! 💜💜💜

Renet: “Is everyone alright?”

Leo: “We’re okay. I think.”

Donnie: “Yeah. Except the lab got trashed. All of the Doc’s synthetic blood is ruined!”

Donnie: “I thought we could use it to save Raph…”

118 prank war - so last night after the mention of pranks i was thinking of a prank war at the 118 similar to morgan and reid's prank war in criminal minds. anyway so it starts as the whole team, playing silly lil harmless pranks on each other and then slowly but surely it's just buck and eddie continuing to play them on each other and everyone is just like jesus guys just kiss already

madney proposal - i just really love the idea of chimney coming home all :( because he couldn't find the ring and he's thinking about everything he would have to do to contact insurance and all that and so he walks in the door and maddie had just found the ring and is like 🥺

vampire buck au - for the ever lovely @swiftiediaz! i've been having inspiration for it again so who knows 👀 basically eddie goes to check on buck, buck's in the soup cause he needs to feed, it's romantic and then it's porn :)

buddie different meeting au - buddie meets at a bar prior to eddie starting at the 118 and they hook up, eddie leaves early the next morning to pick up christopher from abuela's and promises to call, they don't realize until later that they forgot to exchange numbers

Nooo lil blind vampire Georgie becoming so scared when max takes him out in the water because he smells fear and an alpha. He also can’t feel the ledge anymore and just clings to max so hard because he thinks he’ll drown. For a couple of moments the only sound that can be heard is bubba crying while Toto and max has a little standoff. This of course alerts the other mommas who all rush in and ask Toto to back if when they see max with a scared little Georgie 🥺

Plss Maxy having put George back on the rocky edge of the cave pool eith the pup still clinging onto him but his little feet safely planted on the rocks, until Toto comes in and looks so on edge seeing Georgie. Max grabbing th3 little pup and swimming back further while.hissing warily at Toto and George gets upset not understanding what is happening and its scary!

The pack running in hearing George cry and Seb gently asks Max to swim to the little beach where he normally comes if they have to check his tail so Seb can look at rhe little pup. Georgie doesn't want to let go of Max but calms a bit more and let's Seb stroke his hair! Seb,realises Georgie is a vampire but doesn't get scared either, he just calmly sticks his wrist under George's nose and let's him bite and drink cos poor pup is so hungry! Max just staring a litlte quizzically but doesn't get scared and gently cuddles the pup more after he is done feeding!
