Got this lovely commission made by @silvermun
Hands down, I really love the details on Lancelots armour and Arondight! Not to mention, it's important to take care of things that hold value to you from time to time. Sonic and the Black Knight is one of my favorite games, and I can imagine that sometimes even the knights need to sit down, and care for their sacred swords.
Thank you again Silvermun for this lovely piece of art! I love him!

Crowley being attracted to bad boys (gn) and Aziraphale being into good boys (gn) is something that can be so so personal.
Oh you're attracted to the SERPENT of Eden, the one who couldn't even kill a bunch of goats to save his own skin? Oh you're attracted to a DEMON? You mean the one that cares about the well-being of ducks? The one who risked his own life to save a grave-digging girl? The one who likes making stars and likes watching them twinkle? The one who can't fight for shit and has to rely on his wits and intelligence to get him out of a situation? His skinny ass can't even open a jar. Can't even hit a hedgehog if he tried. That one Aziraphale???
Or are you attracted to the one who defies Heavens orders at every single turn? The one who lied to GODS FACE? The one who's trained as a soldier and given a flaming sword to fight and kill? The one who's been fraternizing with the "enemy" for thousands of years? Who's performed temptations and has committed numerous sins throughout his lifetime and not once repented for them or shown any remorse? The one who quite literally makes mobsters DISSAPEAR and run for their LIVES? The one that was ready to shoot a CHILD in the FACE to end Armaggedon aka to go against every order he's been given? That one Crowley? Hmm?

HAS ANYONE SAID BRUCE HEADCANONS YET
Tumblr media
Headcanon A:  realistic
in his head, rattling around like whispers in the dark are the words if you slip once, if you tighten your grip, if you falter, if you fall, you will be a killer. he hears it as he stands at the gallery with damian, as he watches cass dance, as he sits through duke's debate club, as tim sits beside him in the cave, as dick smiles at him, again, the same as he did when he was robin. you will kill your children. it's what you really want, isn't it? to make people hurt. to make them feel the way you do. he doesn't, obviously. the thoughts are intrusive. they hold no power in the daylight. he knows this. he knows he knows he knows.
Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious
sometimes bruce just... doesn't remember people's secret identities. like, he knows them. he has them on file. he has built a flamethrower robot with the face of their first love to cause maximum emotional damage should they ever go rogue and steal a nuke, but otherwise? the league recruits so many similar sounding people that he just can't bring himself to give a shit. what's that new guy's name? who cares. his costume is ugly and he looks like a hedgehog.
Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends
his greatest fear is watching the people he loves be gunned down in front of him, again, while he is helpless to watch. but what he fears, truly, buried so deep that even crane could not draw it from him, is that everything he's done to dick, everything he's said, all the times bruce has pushed him away and made it hurt, is hanging over his head like the sword of damocles. dick's anger is loud. he simmers then explodes, but there are some things that remain unsaid. how close is he from turning away from bruce entirely? what if bruce loses him while he still breathes? why can't bruce stop doing it?
Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.
one time as bruce wayne he spent an afternoon flirting with ronan farrow at an event, because he was so afraid that ronan was going to start asking him questions about like... why he keeps mysteriously disappearing and how all his kids keep dying. it was fine. he played it cool. he had to hide from michael lewis in the bathroom.

“So, how's it feel to be the errand boy for once, Dread?” The echidna rolled his eyes before turning to give the bat an unimpressed frown.
“Shut yer mouth, Batten.” He grumbled, turning his attention back to the tree he was climbing. The woman snorted but ended up flying away to look for the little fox that came with them to the small island.
Once he collected the three coconuts this tree held, he looked around the island to try and get a glimpse of yellow or white fur.
He stiffened when something smacked into the back of his head, quickly turning to look behind him. He could see Batten waving him over, a certain glint in her eyes he wasn't used to seeing.
With a frown, Dread jumped down from the tree and ran over to where his fri– crewmate was. Batten pulled him behind a rock when he was close enough, motioning to keep his voice down.
“What's wrong with ye?” He whispered, raising a brow when the bat carefully peeked around the rock they were crouched behind.
“Look.” She nodded her head to tell Dread to take a peek himself. When he did, he figured he was seeing things.
He was pretty sure Sonic went back to his home.
“Who is that?” He asked as he ducked back behind the rock. It couldn't be Sonic, could it?
“Not sure.” Batten mumbled as she turned to face Dread. “I saw Sails with him.”
Dread felt even more confused now. Sails didn't go up to strangers without the crew with him. Was he fooled by this landlubber’s disguise?
The surge of anger that passed through his nerves at the thought of the youngest crewmate being hurt by this landlubber was a strange feeling, but he welcomed it.
He found he actually enjoyed protecting the crew. For once, it seemed to be more important than any treasure in the sea.
Dread drew his sword as he peeked out from the rock once again, surprised to see that the hedgehog was gone.
He slowly rose to his full height, eyes darting all around the surrounding area to try and locate the stranger. Batten stood up with him, carefully wrapping a hand around her own sword.
Dread nearly jumped out of his skin when a finger tapped his shoulder. He quickly whipped around, making sure to keep Batten behind him as he aimed his sword at whoever touched him.
Sails raised a brow at the echidna's actions, his head tilted to the side in confusion.
“Sails?” Batten asked, equally as confused as the little fox. Her eyes carefully scanned over the fox, looking for any injuries as his mechanical arm slowly lowered the sword pointed at his face.
“Aye, lad.” Dread sighed heavily, resheathing his sword, “Where'd ye go?”
“Just over there,” The kit jabbed his thumb to the right, exactly where that landlubber was standing moments ago.
Just as the echidna was about to ask the fox about the hedgehog, the stranger appeared at the youngest’s side. He had a lazy grin on his muzzle as he threw an arm around the other's shoulder.
“Get yer paws off Sails, ye landlubber!” Batten growled, pulling out her sword but refraining from pointing it at the hedgehog just yet.
Sails and the hedgehog seemed to exchange a glance at that, “Uh, it's alright, Batten.”
“What’d ye mean is alright?” Dread asked, glaring at the hedgehog. He was very quiet, “That ain't Sonic, Sails.”
“I know he ain't Sonic, Dread.” The fox rolled his eyes, gesturing to the mobian leaning against him, “His name's Tonic.”
“Tonic?” Batten questioned, the grip on her sword tightening.
Sails nodded, a paw resting on his hip as the hedgehog gave them a two finger salute. “He ain't sure how he washed up here, but he has no way to find his crew. Figured we could go ask Captain Rose if there's anything we can do for ‘em.”
“Are ye sure, Sails?” Batten looked down to the fox, her pose relaxing slightly when she saw how calm he was.
“He ain't gonna hurt us.” The kit argued, ending the conversation by walking away. Tonic was behind the fox immediately, not caring to stick around the bat and echidna without him.
“We're gonna keep an eye on tha’ one, right?” Batten crossed her arms as she looked over to Dread. The echidna nodded with a frown, not taking his eyes away from the hedgehog.
He didn't trust him. But Sails did, and he knows that kid has a harder time trusting people than anyone else abroad Angel's Voyage 2.0.
Black Rose might give him a chance for Sails, but he's absolutely done for if he does anything to hurt the fox.
It had become an unspoken rule between the crew after they had finally learned the full extent of the kit’s past.
Sails was their number one priority now.

Steel in Her Veins, Chapter: Thirty-Two
Read On: AO3 | Table of Contents | Next Chapter
Characters: Fem!Reader x Roronoa Zoro
Chapter Thirty-Two: The Thorned
Tumblr media
Metal. Hatching out from soft, fragile skin, splintering out like daggers from a suit of armour.
Raya breathes loudly, silently staring at her own hands. Watching it metamorphosise. In real time.
Blood trickles across her skin from each birthing of steel, pain consuming her body in constant throbs of torture. She says nothing, does nothing, but stare at it happening in paralysed fear.
“Go get my kit, Bepo,” Law bites out, his knees messily grounding into the sand. He darkly takes in Raya’s condition, eyes flickering across her skin in thought, his head subtly tilting towards the other doctor. “Chopper, your drug – what does it consist of?”
Luffy, drawn to the commotion, widens his eyes in admiration as he stares at the silver peeking through skin. “Woah, what are those on your hands, Swords? Is that a new weapon?”
“No, it’s not,” Law spits out, shooting Luffy daggers with his eyes. He immediately looks down to the reindeer. “What did you use?”
“Atropine and Mink salve,” Chopper alertly responds to Law, as he, too, sits before Raya. His hoofs gently take in Raya’s palms, frowning intensely. “Did you take your dose today, Raya?”
Luffy frowns at his response, realisation slowly dawning in on him of the severity of the scene before him.
“Raya… are you okay?” Luffy asks – in a much quieter voice this time – as he stumbles his way towards her.
“Um,” Raya swallows, her voice trembling. Her eyes flicker to Zoro, who doesn’t even spare a glance in her direction. She notices his arms folding even tighter against his chest as he stands amidst the lapping waves. “Yeah, about half an hour ago.”
“Her tolerance,” Law mutters, making Chopper nod his head in agreement. A panicked Bepo comes running from a distance, Law’s medical tools clasped in his big paws as his eyes tear up in fear for his long lost friend’s sake.
The doctor breathes out a sigh of relief as he accepts the pack from his second mate, and with quick fingers, he begins to unfold his flap of tools. “We need to determine the condition as fast as we can. No known cause, no known cure – I’ll be honest, this isn’t good.”
“Fuck,” Raya grits her teeth, her hands slightly trembling in the fluff of Choppers soft hooves. Another metallic spike lodges its way out of her skin, almost as if reacting to her sudden anxiety. “Why don’t you keep on scaring your patient, Law? It’s doing wonders for her.”
What am I going to do? Raya thinks, watching the blood trickle heavily against her skin. Chopper presses firmly on the edge of the metallic wound, making sure to not lodge the shrapnel further into her skin. This isn’t fair. I didn’t ask for any of this.
Suddenly, a warm hand rests on Raya’s shoulder.
She looks up, surprised, only to meet Luffy’s eyes.
Almost as if he’s read her mind, a soft, comforting smile sets on his lips, a bright look that promises her safety.
“You’re okay, Swords.” He smiles. “You’ll be the silver hedgehog of our crew, if they keep on growing outta you.”
And out of the blue, a flying hand comes into contact with Luffy’s head, smacking him so hard his head dislodges from his neck.
“Shut up, Luffy!” Nami yells.
“And here we were, thinking you were gonna be supportive for once,” Usopp sullenly mumbles, unimpressed.
As Law continues his examination, Zoro finally decides to walk towards the commotion, his arms so tensely folded together, the contours of his muscles bulge out in restrained fear.
"How did this happen?" he snaps, his gaze piercing as he directs his question at Raya.
Raya bristles at his accusatory tone, her jaw tightening as she meets his gaze head-on.
"What, you think I did this to myself?"
"I didn't say that," he replies. “But you sure as hell weren’t taking care of your hands when you were sharpening that sword before.”
“I’ve been sharpening swords my entire life, Roronoa. Spare me the lecture.”
“These conditions aren’t supposed to be triggered from physical wounds, either,” Robin gently intervenes, offering a comforting smile to both Zoro and Raya. She lifts the glittering tome in front of them – the one that they stole from the Shaman Island – and flips through the pages with delicate fingers. “According to the tome.”
Nami looks up at her, hope desperately grasping at her eyes. “Did you learn anything else? Does it talk about Raya’s condition at all?”
Robin shakes her head; worry takes over in the crease of her brows. “It only addresses basic mythic changes like metamorphosis.”
“Right, yeah, because that’s totally basic knowledge. You know, metamorphosis, something everyone knows about,” Usopp mumbles, gaping at Robin.
Raya's hands tremble slightly as she watches Law and Chopper work, holding in a painful breath, while Luffy silently rests his chin on her shoulder for moral support.
Zoro's gaze remains fixed on Raya, his earlier irritation tempered by a growing sense of concern.
"So, what are we supposed to do now?"
Law sighs heavily, his expression grave as he finishes his assessment.
"We need more information," he declares, his tone clipped and business-like. "Without knowing the cause, I can't offer any definitive treatment."
Raya's heart sinks at his words, the weight of her situation pressing down on her shoulders like a leaden blanket.
"But where do we even start?" she murmurs, her voice barely above a whisper.
Nami's eyes flash with realisation as she begins to mumble in a trance. "The guy I spoke to before," she softly mumbles. “The one who knows where Suki is. He knows something.”
Suki?
Raya’s heart stops, her whole body turning cold from hearing those words, before a whole flurry of metal shards pierce through her skin synchronously, making her scream out in bone-chilling pain.
“Raya!” Sanji shouts. He stares at the metal that now spreads to her arms like an uncontainable plague. He then glares at the Surgeon of Death, before furiously barking out, “Law, do something, for fuck’s sake!”
“Why don’t you stop yapping like a dog and let me do my job?” Law barks back, his narrowed in menacing slits.
But Raya doesn’t seem to be listening to them – instead, she continues to stare at Nami, her face growing paler by the moment. Blood drips onto her clothes like a monotonous metronome, her heart faintly beating in her chest, before she opens her mouth to speak.
“You know where Suki is?”
Nami looks at her worriedly, nodding softly. “Very vaguely — I mean, a potential spot on the map. I was going to tell you before, but then… I saw your hands…” her voice breaks, complete devastation taking over her composure. “We need to take you to that man, Raya. Gods save me, I’m going to find you a cure. And he might be the one who has it.”
Raya's breaths come in short, ragged gasps as she struggles to contain the agony coursing through her body. Each movement feels like a fresh onslaught of pain, the metallic protrusions from her skin digging deeper with every passing second.
No! Fuck the treatment! Fuck the concern over me! It’s Suki we need to save! She screams in her head. I’d rather die than prolong his torture further.
“No, Swords.” Luffy stares hard-eyed at Raya, almost terrifying in his assertive gaze. He moves his chin from her shoulder, looking at her face-to-face. “I’m not letting that happen.”
Raya gapes at him whilst still gasping from her pain. “I-I didn’t say anything, Luffy.”
He cocks his head at her. “But I heard your voice?”
Gods, he needs treatment more than I do.
His eyes flash up and grins in response. “See? That’s definitely you!”
“Can someone tell me what the hell is going on?” Zoro mutters, glaring between the swordsmith and his captain.
“You didn’t hear her?” Luffy frowns at him.
“Never mind that,” Raya forces out through clenched teeth, the pain hitting the very marrow of her bones. Another set of metallic teeth jut out from her arms, growing out like ruthless talons. “My old man is my top priority. Not my fucking arms. I swear to you, I’ll refuse any sort of medical treatment if I have to prove my point.”
Zoro scoffs out loud, almost letting his fury show through his calm composure.
“Yeah, no. That’s not happening,” he spits out, his jaw grinding together so hard Chopper begins to worry for his teeth.
Raya glares up at him, betrayal consuming her whole. If he’s so haunted by his own actions, then why’s he butting in?
“I thought we had an understanding, Roronoa,” she gasps out.
“No.” His nostrils flare, his face almost seeming drunk with anger. “Not at your expense, Tenguyama.”
Raya's breath hitches in her throat, a mix of pain and frustration swirling within her as she locks eyes with Zoro.
Zoro's expression hardens; he squares his shoulders, refusing to back down.
“Is this really what you think Suki wants? You, to needlessly die, for his sake?" he growls. “You wouldn’t be saving his life, no. You’d doom him to live a life as a broken man.”
Beat.
And Raya screams out in pure, uncontrolled fury, swiping her palms away from both doctors. She screams out so furiously, the tears that spill from her eyes are thick with fire.
She bellows into the air, so fiercely, so wildly, that the winds around her grow in such tumultuous speeds, swirling out so heavily around everyone, that Luffy’s hat almost disappears into its swallowing mouth.
“Who are you, to tell me that?” she yells out loud. And almost majestically, her feet raise from the sand.
Her eyes glow with whites and oranges as she floats within her own tempest. “You are insufferable.”
“Get down! Right now!” Law bellows at everyone, pulling himself and Bepo down to the sand. “She’s possessed!”
“Raya!” Nami screams as she scrambles for her hovering body, but before she gets anywhere near Raya, Luffy roughly tugs at her away in his arms.
“What the fuck?” Usopp screams, slamming his body to the ground with Chopper underneath his harm.
Raya does not know where she or who she is. She is simply elemental. She is both human and non-human.
And, as she rises higher and higher into the sky, her eyes blazing in a distant trance, the blood in drains from her faster and faster. She howls like the winds amongst her, cries like the way her own metal stabs at her, and all the same, she is confined to a frail human body that offers many limitations and very little freedom.
One of the limitations being blood.
Raya then collapses to the floor, no pupils found in the midst of the whiteness of her eyes.
Beat.
Zoro gathers her up in his arms, the metal from her body burrowing deeply into his own skin. He freezes in his spot for a second, allowing the metal to sink its teeth all the way into his body, allowing Raya’s complete pain to transfer into him.
And with no reaction – with no expression on his stern face, and no sound made from his clamped down mouth, he slowly moves, the shrapnels of her steel now lodged deeply in his own bloodstream.
And without even a look to the others, he walks back to the ship, with the thorned girl laying stricken in his bleeding arms.

This fucker took a while because I REALLY wanted to do him justice in regards to how he was originally meant to be much more of a competent foil for Sonic and listen, it doesn’t get more traditionally badass than fancy longcoats ✨👌🏼 Also the aesthetic here is much more French Freedom Fighter than a captain of the guard which I feel suits him better!
Aurelien ‘Antoine’ Montague D’Coolette, the son of a celebrated war general and formerly betrothed to Princess Solaris Concordia Acanthus ‘Sally Acorn’ as a child, is the team’s self-proclaimed Master Of The Blade (And I say ‘blade, not ‘sword’ because he’s packing half a dozen knives on him at any point of time like a coyote Machete. The fun part is guessing which ones are for kitchenwork and which are for shanking) though a lot of his bravado ties back to a childhood lived in the shadow of his father who pushed him to become a royal cadet and be ‘brave’ when he showed ‘softer’ tendencies ie. cooking and the arts.  So when he’s got front seats to Robotnik’s bloody coup and his traitor father attempts to use him to betray the Princess, he makes the split second decision to be brave for Sally instead of his father, who now terrifies him (and is who gave him his lip scar)
As much as he adores Sally who he essentially grows up with, he comes to realise that she has no romantic interest in him, and in making it clear that their friendship has always been the greatest gift she could give him, encourages her to put duty aside and follow her heart in this regard. (They’re still very BFFs—he cooks for her, she helps him with his hair, they both trade chaste forehead/cheek/paw kisses on the regular)
He and Sonic have a bit of an argumentative bash-brothers relationship, and he likes to think that he has more sense than this feral gremlin of a hedgehog but really, when they’re busting heads together they both have ONE brain cell, and Sally’s holding it.
Having helped care for a disabled war veteran uncle (who was more of a father to him than his own father was) as a child, he’s the first on the team who actually has an inkling of an idea on how to help Bunna-Marie ‘Bunnie’ Rabbot through her trauma and acclimatise to her cyborg limbs (he ends up building a little physio-rehab set for her and it’s in the banter of these sessions that they come to understand each other better beyond ‘uncouth lapine’ and ‘pretentious pup’)

Note: The close of the first chapter of Shadow’s stay in Camelot! C: Will there be more? Yes, because I have no self-control. C,:
Reminder of characters: Sir Kay is Scourge the Hedgehog! Sir Gareth is Mighty the Armadillo!  Sir Yvain is Ray the (Flying?) Squirrel! Percy is Percival the Squire, aka Blaze the Cat!
All chatter ends and the courtyard is deathly quiet as everyone collectively holds their breath, certain they must have misheard Shadow just now… but the black hedgehog doubles down.
“You heard me,” Shadow repeats, turning to face Gawain with a challenging arch of his brow, “Lancelot can keep his Queen- I’ll take the King.”
“What!?“ Half a dozen voices cry out at once. Arthur barely manages to contain his own surprise, whipping his head to look at Shadow so quickly he almost flings the circlet off his head.
Shadow does not flinch under the heavy weight of the stares, cool and determined with a haughty hand on his hip.
“Shadow,” Arthur wishes he had a moment with Shadow alone to explain what the black hedgehog was getting himself into, tenting his hands in front of his face thoughtfully, “Once again, I am asking you to reconsider this request. That is no light commitment or task. Are you sure this is what you truly want?”
“I’m going to prove that I am superior to this Lancelot in every possible way,” Although Shadow says Lancelot’s name, the challenging glare he levels in Arthur’s direction indicates that Camelot’s king is included as well, “By the end of it, all of you will be comparing Lancelot to me.”
“You are completely mad if you think the king will accept such outlandish demands!” Gawain is so worked up he throws his hand out, hitting the unfortunate Sir Yvain in the chest with his barbed knuckles. The yellow squirrel is knocked off his feet and into Sir Gareth behind him, who barely manages to keep them both upright, “Who are you?! What are your designs on our king?! Are you a spy or assassin?!”
“I am Shadow the Hedgehog, the world’s ultimate life form,” Shadow is arrogantly self-assured as he literally turns his nose up at Gawain, “Don’t flatter yourself. I don’t care about you or this kingdom. And if I wanted your King dead, there’s nothing you could do to stop me!”
“You churl-!”
It’s very clear that Shadow and Gawain are about to start slinging hotheaded boasts, vicious insults, and blows again. But before Arthur can try to restore order, aid comes from an unexpected source.
“Hah! You are a saucy one!” Sir Lamorak’s squawk of laughter shatters the tension like ice, pushing past Gawain to stand directly in front of Shadow.
“Brother!” A small purple cat darts out from the crowd, grabbing onto the hawk’s hand and giving him a stern shake, “Do not be foolish!”
“I know what I’m doing, squire,” Lamorak hisses at her, low enough only those nearby can hear him, shaking himself free and pushing the child behind him, “Watch and learn, Percy!”
‘Percy’ gives a loud, annoyed groan as she stomps her foot irritably, sulkily crossing her arms and watching her brother with an incredibly unimpressed expression. Who was this girl, again? Lamorak had asked if he could bring his sister in as his squire, but that had been only a few days ago and she wouldn’t have been able to make the journey so quickly, could she? She also seemed a little too young to be a squire…
Lamorak flips his visor up with one hand as he looks down on Shadow with a condescending grin, “Do you have any idea what you are asking for? Do you really think an untried knave without any weapon or armor of his own has a chance?”
Shadow is coolly defiant, eyes boring into Lamorak ferociously, “I don’t need anything but my bare hands to beat you.“
Lamorak’s grin falls immediately, and his hand reaches to the scabbards where his twin swords are sheathed on his back-
“Enough!” Arthur steps in before Shadow manages to make more enemies, putting himself between his combative guest and his strongest knights, “Shadow is new to the realm and not familiar with its customs, and yet you treat him with great hostility! Where is your courtesy? Your patience? This is a most inhospitable way to treat my personal guest!”
Arthur hates having to use his authority like this, he really does, but Shadow is going to wind up as unpopular as Kay at this rate.
The stunned silence lasts only a moment.
“Your guest!” Gawain sputters indignantly, gesturing at Shadow like he doesn’t know what else to say, “Your guest!!”
“My lord,” Gareth puts his hand on Gawain’s shoulder, choosing his words carefully, “It is most unusual to have someone enter the kingdom with the visage of one of the round table’s most illustrious and well-regarded knights-”
Kay blows a dismissive raspberry, smiling when the armadillo gives him an annoyed side eye. Gawain leans over his brother’s shoulder to give the green hedgehog a full on glare.
“And it would be imprudent to rush into something like this without considering all potential factors and viewpoints,” Gareth finishes primly, bowing his head respectfully as he meets Shadow’s eyes, “While still giving Sir Shadow the same opportunities we would extend to every other child of Camelot.”
“You cannot be serious!” Gawain turns to his brother incredulously, “He disguised himself as Lancelot!”
“I have no need to disguise myself as anyone!” Shadow’s eyes narrow as he takes a step toward Gawain.
“Enough, enough!” Arthur massages his forehead as he glances up at the sky, knowing that this argument will cost him the rest of the morning. He will be struggling to meet all his daily obligations at this rate, and will likely be working late into the night... “I will hear your arguments in the great hall at the round table- after we break our fast.”
Before anyone can say anything else, Arthur turns to his guest, “Come, Shadow the Hedgehog, bringer of chaos! Before you end up creating blood feuds with the entire round table!”
Shadow doesn’t look the least bit chastised, incredulous and amused as he gives a flippant shrug, “Fine by me.”
“With these jests, it sounds like you’re better suited to the role of court jester!” Lamorak laughs boisterously, arms crossed over his chest as he grins mockingly. His squire stands behind him, less than enthused at her knight’s actions, but doesn’t say anything. She simply grips onto his tail feathers and digs her feet into the ground below, trying to physically keep him out of the range of Shadow’s fists.
“Have you any more?” Lamorak jeers, obviously trying to get back at Shadow for that earlier insult. (Even though the brash hawk brought it on himself. Again.)
The air around Shadow turns positively murderous, and he flexes the fingers of his right hand as he brings it up mid-chest, “How about a magic trick?
Sparks crackle around his fingertips as he looks at Lamorak over his shoulder, eyes narrowing like he’s honing in on a target.
“I can make you disappear-“ Shadow starts to say, bringing his hand down in a vicious arc-
That Arthur jumps in to stop with his hands. The strange energy spreads through Shadow’s fingers and into his own, leaving behind a tingling sensation that seems to seep into his skin and to his very bones. Arthur lets go quickly, but it travels up the length of his arm and into his shoulder before radiating through his entire body.
“My Lord!” Half a dozen voices cry out at the same time in dismay.
“It’s nothing!” Arthur doesn’t have any time to dwell on any of this, even as his body seems to buzz with the energy. He wants to shake his hand out, but he knows that will just worry his knights, “I said this will wait until after breakfast! Be still, all of you!”
He grabs Shadow’s hand tightly as he ushers his taciturn companion forward, as if afraid the black hedgehog is going to run off and punch someone else in the face. (Which seems very likely at this point.)
“Come along!” Arthur’s hand buzzes where it touches Shadow, even through the fabric of his glove. He half expects the dark hedgehog to push him away, and is surprised when Shadow’s hand squeezes him. But painfully so, like this is a challenge he can win while making sure Arthur doesn’t let go. The king glances back as Shadow, curious to see why the prickly hedgehog would touch him without a clear purpose- when it becomes clear this is a calculated power play.
Shadow is staring Gawain down, using this simple gesture to establish himself in the king’s entourage, annoy the echidna and the other knights who regard him with suspicion, and show his clear disregard for hierarchy of the court. For some reason, Arthur is disappointed… but he pushes that feeling aside immediately. Shadow would be a fool if he did not use the king’s political and social position to his advantage.
Arthur pulls Shadow towards the now doorless archway, whispering as he discreetly elbows the black hedgehog, “What are you doing? I don’t know how it works in your world, but you’ll accomplish more with friends in Camelot’s walls rather than enemies!”
“I don’t need friends,” Shadow gives Arthur a flat look, answering loudly as he glowers back at Lamorak, “And if you want to keep yours in one piece, they shouldn’t start what they can’t finish. I don’t like leaving loose ends.”
Arthur rolls his eyes in exasperation as he hurries through the corridor, ear swiveling backwards to pick up on the disgruntled chatter that is naturally amplified by the stone hallways. Shadow’s combative attitude and abrasive demeanor are certainly not doing much to endear him to anyone.
“You don’t seem to like casual conversation or friendly advice either,” Arthur quips back, shaking his head, “And certainly not comfortable beds. What of mead and bread? Do you like that?”
“You're starting to irritate me, hedgehog-” Shadow answers back automatically, annoyed, before blinking rapidly. He gives Arthur that look again, like he’s seeing him in a completely different light, “You are going to drink mead for breakfast?”
Arthur finds Shadow’s baffled confusion amusing, quietly chuckling to himself, “Would my new champion prefer wine instead?”
“Sure, why not,” Shadow lets Arthur open the door to the chamber himself, purposefully ignoring Gawain’s outrage and rubbing it in by refusing to let go of the king’s hand the entire time, making Arthur do it one handed. Arthur can’t remember the last time he’s opened a door for himself, let alone another person. It’s strangely thrilling, “Where does the echidna sit?”
“I sit in the red velvet siege,” Arthur nods at the plush seat with the crown carved into the wood above it, “And ‘Wain sits to my left-”
“Good,” Shadow doesn’t wait for Arthur to finish explaining or sit down, plopping himself in the seat to Arthur’s right like it belongs to him. It belongs to Sir Kay, who seems less than amused- but, in a rare move of self preservation, also doesn’t seem very keen to attract Shadow’s ire on himself directly. Arthur shrugs to his brother apologetically, making motions to an attendant by the door to bring another chair.
In fact, Shadow goes out of his way to make himself look as comfortable as possible, throwing his crossed legs over one arm rest and propping his elbow on the other, resting his chin on his fist. Incredibly bold… Arthur sits down quickly himself, hiding a smile behind a sip of his cup.
“MY KING!” Gawain yanks his chair out from the table so violently the wood cracks under his grip, splinters falling to the floor as he sits in it heavily and unhappily, “THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!”
Shadow stares at Gawain with a bored expression as he filches a piece of cheese from Arthur’s plate, popping it into his mouth as the echidna slams his hands back down on the table.
Well, this is certainly turning out to be a very different and complicated day! When Arthur first rose this morning, he didn’t think he’d end up having breakfast with Shadow the Hedgehog sitting on his right hand side after causing a feud with almost half the round table. Or to have Gawain, one of his most powerful and influential knights, squabbling with the black hedgehog like a petulant child.
One of the many large and small problems he needs to solve... Arthur nibbles on a roll absentmindedly as he listens to Gareth’s argument from the other side of the table, pretending he doesn’t notice Shadow flick a piece of apple at the side of Gawain’s head.
He needs to nip the budding tension between Lamorak and Shadow before it leads to bloodshed… Lamorak is very pointedly glaring daggers at the hedgehog until his sister kicks him in the shin when he doesn’t pass her the jam quickly enough, and that quickly devolves to the hawk arguing with a literal child.
Arthur needs to make Shadow’s self-appointed position as his champion palatable to the majority of his knights and advisors, many of whom are regarding Shadow with guarded suspicion over the rim of their mugs.
He needs to find and check on Lancelot, whose absence in the siege at Gawain’s right is painfully obvious. And Arthur needs to soothe Kay’s wounded pride before his brother does something reckless and foolish that causes them all unnecessary grief. (Especially Kay himself.)
It was exactly as Sir Ector had warned- the secret wish of excitement in his heart had been answered in the most unexpected way. But Arthur has no regrets.
Despite it all, he is eager to see how this new adventure unfolds.

Something I’ve always wondered was how did King Marc and Nath of Hearts meet? I just love this couple so much-
Once Upon A Time…
On the night of a crescent moon, shaped like the smile of the Cheshire Cat, in the magical and quite odd, yet wonderous kingdom of Wonderland, the King and Queen of Hearts were blessed with a darling young Prince they named, Nathaniel. They showered their son with so much love and affection, doted on him every few seconds, and yet… Their praise and adoration for the young Prince of Hearts didn’t have the effect they expected.
Whenever given a knife at dinner, he’d nearly stabbed one of the servers. The Card Guards swore they had seen a gleeful look in his eyes when the King mentioned executing a traitor. The most gruesome of jokes only seemed to get a laugh out of the redhead.
The King and Queen were in denial for so long. They knew Nathaniel could be a bit of a wild card, but they were certain he’d grow out of it. He’d be their sweet Prince of Hearts, learn how to run the Kingdom when the time came, and stop treating the croquet hedgehogs better than he treats others.
Thirteen years had passed. Nathaniel’s violent tendencies have not vanished, and the King and Queen could no longer deny that. What had been concerning them the most lately was their son’s recent fascination with weapons, specifically swords, axes, and daggers. He would never go anywhere without his favorite dagger, explaining, “I would lose the element of surprise if I had an ax or sword strapped to my back, now wouldn’t I?”
The Kingdom was growing wary. They refused to have such a… A mad young man grow up to become their King. And yet, no one dared to speak out against the Prince of Hearts, not unless they would like to feel the cool steel of his dagger pressed against their necks. The King and Queen of Hearts also dreaded the day he would come of age and rise to power, most likely ruling Wonderland with an iron fist and executing all those who defied his rules, all 613 of what he had already written so far. They aren’t sure what more they can do at this point. Nothing could calm Nathaniel down apart from Tea Time and when he spent time with the hedgehogs. And even those weren’t enough to cool his infamous temper.
But, the more they thought it over, the King and Queen of Hearts wondered if maybe, just maybe, if instead of something, their Prince needed someone to quell his behavior. All it would take was the right connection with another young Royal or anyone really to divert his attention towards… Other interests.
With that in mind, a ball was thrown. All eligible Royals around the age of the Prince of Hearts were in attendance, yet, none were willing to even make eye contact with the dreaded Mad Prince of Wonderland. It would appear that the rumors spread to other Kingdoms, not that Nathaniel cared. The thought of ever co-ruling his future Kingdom sickened him. He’s not one to compromise. All ways are his way, and it will stay that way.
When his parents informed him prior to the ball that they would be finding suitors for him, Nathaniel wanted nothing more than to finally have their heads in his grasp. While they have done so much for him over the years, it was about time for a new ruler to take control of Wonderland and command the respect of all. But, he couldn’t exactly become King until he turned eighteen or his parents died. And he refused to wait five more years. But it just never seemed like the right moment to behead them. Usurping the throne was a fine reason, but he craved more than that. He was just unsure of what, but it needed to be the reason that really drove him to behead those kindhearted fools.
Having grown bored of the ball, the Prince of Hearts was about to make his way into the rose garden when his parents called him over. He scowled at the sight of their delighted faces. What could they possibly be so thrilled about? And then he saw… Him. The sickingly sweet Prince of a neighboring Kingdom, Emani White. Unlike the rest of the cowardly royals, he was not deterred by the behavior of the Prince of Hearts and believed he was… Kind deep down. Well, if the guards hadn’t confiscated his dagger, he would have beheaded the fool then and there. And if not for acting so familiar and having the audacity to rest a hand on his shoulder, then for attracting those verminous doves with that high-pitched warbling.
If the King and Queen of Hearts believed such a miserable excuse for a Prince would deter him from succeeding them before he turned eighteen, then they were positively… Mad. But, he enjoyed a game or two, so he played along, whisked the ditzy young Prince away into the hedge maze, and allowed his parents to believe Emani could be the one to “calm his temper.”
How he regretted it when the damned Prince just would not shut up about the forest, his animal friends, the dwarves he had met, or his step-cousin! Still, Nathaniel remained cordial and resisted every urge in his body to strangle Emani. After all, killing someone with your bare hands is simply uncouth and barbaric, and he would not stoop to such levels, no matter how much Emani irritated him.
However, it seemed he would consider when the heathen dared to pick up and hold one of his hedgehogs. Everyone in the Kingdom knew Rule #47: Never hold a hedgehog belonging to the Prince of Hearts. Well, all but Emani. But, Nathaniel was more than happy to teach him the consequences of such a felony. He ripped one of the vines off of the hedges and checked to make sure it was sturdy. Before he could go through with his act, though, a lone figure emerged from the shadows and sent a chill down Emani's spine. The coward backed away as the figure made themself known under the glow of the moonlight. Nathaniel felt his heart stop. There, standing before him had to be the most breathtaking vision of beauty to ever grace his Kingdom.
His eyes were a toxic green and his lips were painted a beautiful blood-red.
So stupefied, the Prince of Hearts didn't flinch when the newcomer whipped out a dagger. He stalked toward Emani White with a sinister smile. "Emani," he crooned. "My dear, naive cousin; I believe I instructed you not to leave my sight."
Emani murmured several apologies, but the green-eyed newcomer only held the dagger closer to him. "Off you go, now," he said as if speaking to a child. "We will discuss your punishment afterward."
"Y... Yes, Marc; I apologize." Setting the hedgehog down, Emani scurries out of the hedge maze. Though, the Prince of Hearts is certain it will be hours before he finds his way out. Immediately, he turns his attention to... Marc, and once again finds himself captivated by his poison green eyes. He wanted him and only him, and not one of those pathetic excuses for royals his parents had lined up for him.
All he wanted was his Poison Prince. And he'll have him by any means necessary...
The End

hi it's me the kuervo lore anon back back again with a WALL OF TEXT and also pirates spoilers but those are pretty obvious.
starting with his Tragic Backstory™ everything about him makes so much more sense when you realize he's just shadow the hedgehog spanish dub. ie raised as the specialest child soldier ever, idolized older sibling got killed by the government, now he's on an epic bloody revenge quest and there's these blue guys trying to teach him about the power of friendship but he doesn't care. said revenge quest is also where he lost his eye btw, and his eyepatch and rings are sort of fucked up trophies.
his self image is Messed Up bc of all that. he hypes himself up in his mind like he's some amazing folk hero (in-universe he literally calls chat his "adoring fans". which. ya got me.) and then you realize that's absolutely a front so he doesn't have to think about the murders. he's paranoid as fuck about the other pirates finding out his whole deal but such a horrible liar that he seriously considers yet another murder. but he's just a silly little guy he's done nothing wrong ever in his life why would you even think about him like that.
characterization wise kuervo's got a strong sense of justice which got him in this mess in the first place. he's quick to jump to insults or casual threats and even quicker to just laugh it off (ignore the sword it's just a joke bro!!). he's not super vain but definitely cares about his appearance. there's a very good chance all that eyeliner hides some impressive eyebags. he doesn't talk much but hangs around on the edge of conversations listening to gossip like he's at the movies with a metaphorical bucket of popcorn. he's an insanely good shot but refuses to touch guns (except in life or death situations) to the point of getting jumpy when other pirates pull guns for whatever reasons. he's the type of guy to keep a knife under his pillow (that isn't canon but it's close enough). despite being in the murder faction he doesn't take bounties (one of his only trips to the bounty guild ended with eret killing a guy and getting exiled bc of his bad advice). there's actually so few kites toward the end of the server that he just hangs out with the nightingales despite calling them a bunch of losers once.
one time he crashed bek's ship on a deserted island. he's the only pirate to get away with swearing in front of owen bc he does it in spanish. he's made peace with the fact his epic revenge quest's probably going to end with him dead, but he refuses to die on any other terms than his own. he's lonely as hell but he keeps everybody at arm's length bc he knows he'll have to leave someday soon. he got kidnapped once and immediately resorted to talking to a bunch of fish. he's even aroace
Obsessed actually.
I'm. Honestly pretty hyped that I got the right vibe around him and I'm even more hyped to be able to read about him.
If there's more solid-stuff about Kuervo's background, I'd love to hear. Unless it's like. Purposely a bit shrouded I just loved reading all this.
I'm probably gonna re-read this about 20 times honestly. Thank you for the Lore Dump, I'll be eating it all promptly

STH Rarepair Week Day 2: Flowers / Love Letter
You can check it out on ao3 here if you prefer.
Summary: Sonic decides to stick around after the events of Sonic and the Black Knight. Partly to help the people effected by everything and partly to get closer to a certain knight. He's confident he can at the very least get Lancelot to loosen up around him, and perhaps his attempts at flirting won't be as lost on the other hedgehog as he thought.
Pairing: Sonic/Lancelot (SatBK)
Warnings: None to be had here
Word Count: ~2400 words
AN: Anxiety trying to get the best of me here cause this one feels... well potentially a controversial pick for this. I do very much consider this ship separate from sonadow (though still like, related of course), even if Lancelot is technically just that world's version of Shadow. Idk their dynamic just seems much different to me, and the ship on ao3 has less than 100 fics so *shrug*. Anyway this exists, and these two have taken up residence in my head rent free now.
Tumblr media
“King Sonic.” Lancelot bowed his head respectfully as he approached.
Sonic grinned. Well if it wasn’t his favorite knight approaching. Not that he’d admit that to the others. “I told you that you don’t have to be so formal with me Lance. At least not when we’re alone.”
"I- of course." Lancelot cleared his throat. "I've come to inform you that your presence has been requested."
Sonic sighed. "Ah of course. Never a moment of peace huh?"
"There is much to do after all that's happened." Lancelot nodded.
"Yeah. Just wish I could kick back a bit more. Especially if I get to spend time with certain people." Sonic winked at Lancelot before quickly tucking a red flower behind the other hedgehog's ear.
"Sire!?" Lancelot was clearly flustered, something that Sonic found endless amusement in. It was pretty easy to fluster the knight afterall, and he took plenty of advantage of that.
"It matches your eyes." Sonic explained before walking over to retrieve Caliburn. The sentient sword had thankfully stayed quiet throughout the exchange. "Now come along. You said someone needed me?"
Lancelot composed himself and, much to Sonic's continued amusement, left the flower in its place. "Ah yes. Allow me to escort you back to the castle." He turned and began to walk.
Before Lancelot could get too far Sonic rushed to meet him, grabbing his arm in the process. "Well if you're going to escort me do it properly." He grinned.
"If that's what you command." Lancelot nodded stiffly. Sonic would get him to come around. It would just take some time.
Sonic internally sighed as he did his best to listen to the concerns of the people that had come to his court. It’s not that he didn’t want to help the people, it’s just it could be pretty boring at times. At least he had faith that his knights would help fill him in later if needed. Something which seemed to annoy them at first, but they’d quickly grown used to.
Still, he did his best to listen or at least make it appear so. Not to brag, but he’d mastered the art of nodding when appropriate even if he had no idea what was going on. Finally though the day came to a close. He stretched as he got up from the throne, eyes quickly finding Lancelot in the room. The other hedgehog was already making his way towards Sonic, and he couldn’t help the smile that found its way onto his muzzle.
“Come to give me a summary of everything?” Sonic asked once Lancelot stopped in front of him.
“So long as that’s what you require.” Lancelot nodded.
“That would be wonderful, but let’s talk somewhere else. Already been cooped up in here way too long. Care to join me for a walk?” Sonic held out a hand.
Lancelot hesitated and, much to Sonic’s internal disappointment, didn’t take his hand. Instead the knight of the round simply nodded. “If that’s what you prefer sire.”
Sonic kept his disappointment off his face as he did pay attention to Lancelot’s summary of what he felt were the most pressing issues. At least the walk was nice and now Sonic had a better idea of what needed to be addressed next. He selfishly made sure getting Lancelot to open up to him more was high on that list. Not that anyone but him needed to know that.
Sonic stared at the letter that sat innocently on his desk. It had just been there when he'd woken up that morning, so he had no idea where it had come from. Or perhaps more importantly who it was from.
"Well? Are you going to open it?" Caliburn spoke up from his position in the corner of the room. "It will not open itself."
Sonic didn't bother to hide his annoyed look, Caliburn was used to him by now anyway. "I was going to open it." He crossed his arms.
"Then why do you continue to stare at it? Much more of this and your absence will be felt." Caliburn retorted, sending Sonic an annoyed look of his own.
With a sigh Sonic picked up the letter, briefly admiring the nice wax seal that was used, and opened it. Inside was a letter, in small, neat handwriting. He skimmed it and felt himself freeze. He forced himself to slow down and read it properly. A love letter? He flipped the parchment over, disappointed to not find a single hint as to who had sent it. All he had to go off was the writing and the fact that whoever this was could get the letter directly to his room. After one last read he carefully placed the letter into his quills. Ok, he could think about this later. Even if the mystery of who'd sent such an elegantly written letter would bug him all day. It only took a bit more light prodding from Caliburn to get him moving after that.
There had been no more letters since the first, but Sonic had yet to figure out who sent it. Which was frustrating but he had plenty of distractions. Although he'd been skeptical of his new role at first he found himself settling into it. Well some aspects anyway. He still fought, typically verbally but not always, with his knights for his ability to come and go as he pleased. That particular conversation usually ended with Sonic bolting from the castle and Lancelot being sent to retrieve him. It wasn't so bad though, at least he got some alone time with the other hedgehog that way. Speaking of…
"You'd like me to what?" Sonic stared blankly at Lancelot, still trying to process what he'd just been asked.
Lancelot averted his face. "I'd… like you to accompany me when I go to visit my mother tomorrow. If you find it agreeable."
Slowly a smile spread across Sonic's muzzle. "Oh!" He ignored Caliburn's mild complaints about brushing off his duties. "I'd love to. It's been a while since I saw her."
"Thank you for indulging me sire. I'm sure she'll be delighted to see you." Lancelot nodded.
"Will you be bringing Galahad with you too?" Sonic tilted his head. He honestly really liked the younger hedgehog, even if him and Lancelot's familial ties still threw Sonic off. Though it warmed his heart to see the two of them together and see how much they clearly cared for each other.
"I planned to yes. He's told me recently he'd like to see her again soon." Lancelot stiffened. "That is… alright yes?"
"More than alright Lance." Sonic's grin widened. "He's a good kid."
Lancelot subtly puffed his chest out in pride, and Sonic barely held back a laugh. It was certainly something to see Lancelot play the part of proud father, but he liked to see it. "He will make a fine knight once he is old enough."
"You know I would be happy to knight him now. He's shown he's able to handle himself." Sonic put a hand on Lancelot's arm.
Lancelot shook his head. "He would not appreciate the shortcut. He wishes to earn his knighthood as I did before him."
"Alright." Sonic held up his hands. "In that case I look forward to doing it properly once he's ready."
"Thank you sire. I have no doubt he would be delighted to hear that." Lancelot seemed to relax a little after Sonic pulled his hand away.
"Well." Sonic clapped his hands together. "Until tomorrow then my knight?"
"Until then my king." Lancelot bowed before hurrying away. Sonic frowned at his retreating back. Well that could have gone better, but it also could have gone worse. He sighed and let a smile slip back onto his face. Tomorrow should be good at least. He decidedly ignored the metaphorical hole the love letter was burning in his quills.
"Ah Sir Sonic. How lovely it is to see you again." Nimue went for a hug, one which Sonic returned with only mild hesitation. It was hard to mentally separate her from Amy sometimes.
"Good to see you too." Sonic chuckled as the two broke apart.
"Mother." Lancelot hissed. "He is the king, you cannot just embrace him like that."
Her sharp gaze turned to her son. "Well, if it isn't my family. Finally deemed me worthy of your presence?" Nimue shot Lancelot and Galahad a sly smile. Sonic hid his amusement behind his hand.
Lancelot flushed, far easier to tell right now since the knight had his visor up. "I've been busy mother. You know this." Galahad simply looked between the two, a nervous frown on his face.
"I jest Lancelot." Nimue laughed. "Come and greet me properly as the king has already done." Lancelot somewhat reluctantly moved forward and gave his mother a hug. Sonic couldn't help the brief laugh that escaped him. Galahad joining him a moment after. "Don't think you will escape the same fate. Come here Galahad." She held her arms out once she released a now very flustered Lancelot, who's visor was now flipped down. Weird.
Unlike his father Galahad happily fell into the embrace of his grandma. By the time they let go of each other Lancelot had flipped his visor back up. "It's good to see you." Galahad smiled.
Nimue's smile widened. "Any day I get to see you or your father is a pleasant one. Now." She looked out over the group. "Shall we head inside? I've prepared tea."
"Lead the way, oh lady of the lake." Sonic grinned and gestured for her to go ahead of him.
With a smile she began to lead them back to her home. "Lancelot? Care to walk with me?"
Said hedgehog glanced between his mother and Sonic before nodding. "Of course mother."
The two hurried ahead some and Sonic let them be. They were family after all and she saw Lancelot a lot less often than he did. "So." Galahad spoke up. It made Sonic happy to know the younger hedgehog wasn't worried about talking to him casually. "When are you and my father going to…" He gestured widely. "You know…"
Sonic rose a brow. He did not know actually. "I'm not sure what you're talking about kid."
"Oh. Really?" Galahad looked confused. "Father told me he'd finally managed to say something to you. I thought… well I don't mean to assume of course…" Suddenly the younger hedgehog was rather nervous.
As the two walked, and Galahad endured a mild breakdown of some sort, Sonic thought and slowly put pieces together. The letter stuffed in his quills felt heavy with the weight of his own realization. That's why the handwriting had seemed so familiar. He stopped in his tracks and carefully pulled the letter out. "Oh." Was all he could manage as he looked between the letter and its previously unknown author.
"Are you alright?" Galahad had stopped too.
"I'm good yeah." Sonic slowly nodded. "I just put some things together is all." He pat Galahad on the head, careful to avoid his helmet. "I think I need to go have a chat with Lancelot. Keep your grandma company for me ok?"
"Yes sir!" Galahad nodded, smiling.
"Yo Lance!" Sonic called ahead, letter still gripped in one hand. The black hedgehog turned around, confused before an odd look fell over his face. That was probably due to Sonic waving the letter. "Can we have a quick chat?"
With a quick excuse to his mother he rushed to Sonic's side. Galahad was next to his grandma in the next moment. Nimue gave them a knowing smile and waved them off. "What did you wish to discuss sire?" Lancelot had flipped down his visor again, but Sonic could tell the other wasn't looking at him.
"I think you know." Sonic let a relaxed smile settle onto his face. The last thing he wanted Lancelot to believe was that he was in trouble. Unfortunately the other hedgehog remained quiet. That was fine, he could talk for a bit. "I didn't know who this was from when I first got it. Not until just now actually, when me and Galahad were talking."
"He told you?" Lancelot seemed upset, fists clenching at his sides.
Sonic held up a hand and cut off whatever that was. Lancelot turned away. "He only implied. Which helped me figure it out." He carefully unfolded the letter between them. "You should have signed it you know."
"I'm afraid my cowardice got the best of me after finishing it." Lancelot looked away. "To pour my heart out for the king and then ascribe that to myself felt far too daunting at the time."
"But you still gave it to me. Gave me a headache trying to figure out who wrote it." Sonic teased, tucking the letter away. It felt far more precious now that he knew who'd written it.
"I apologize for any agony I caused you sire." Lancelot dipped his head low.
Sonic sighed before gently pushing the other hedgehog's head back up to look at him. With his other hand he flipped up the visor. "You're fine Lance. Honest." He smiled, something softer and more genuine than he typically plastered on his face. "I'm just glad to know my flirting hasn't been completely lost on you."
Lancelot hesitantly linked their hands together. "And this is… alright? I'm allowed to show my loyalty to you in more ways than one?"
Sonic pulled the hedgehog into a tight hug. He was glad he'd decided to leave Caliburn behind today. No doubt he'd ruin the moment. "What I am doesn't matter. There's no way I'm going to let what other people think dictate how I live my life."
As the two broke apart Sonic was pleased to see a small smile on Lancelot's face. "Then allow me make myself clear. I love you si- Sonic."
Sonic squeezed Lancelot's hand. "I love you too Lancelot. Now as much as I'd like to spend some more alone time together we shouldn't keep your mom waiting."
"A wise course of action." Lancelot's face was grave. Though his attention was drawn elsewhere for a moment and he let go of Sonic's hand to grab something on the side of the road. Before Sonic could properly register it Lancelot was tucking something behind Sonic's ear. "It… matches your eyes."
Sonic grinned as he reached up and felt the flower Lancelot had tucked behind his ear. He grabbed his hand again and started walking. Maybe this whole king business wouldn't be so bad with Lancelot at his side.

A Sonic Prime fanfic
This is the fanfic that was based on day 29 of the fanart challenge i just finished. Some parts arent as good as others and the ending is kinda rushed. Also kinda cringe...
This is a, per say, headcanon of what happened after Sonic prime. I hope you enjoy!
Everything was fixed. Sonic has his friends back well... the original ones. It felt great to have everyone back, to not have to worry about going from shatterspace to shatterspace the paradox prisms. But something still felt wrong. Sonic had so many questions that needed answering. Were the shatterspace still a thing? Where did shadow put the paradox prism? What happened to everyone? Were they dead?... Was nine dead? He didnt want to think anymore, his thoughts felt as though they were swallowing him whole and- "SONIC!" An exclamation was heard from beside sonic. He turned around, it was tails! "Only too you 3 minutes to respond. Are you ok? You've been kinda ''spacey-outy'' this evening, especially after that fight with Eggman." Tails came and sat next to sonic on their sofa. He had a slightly concerned look on his face. Sonic wishes he could have explained the story to him and his friends but Eggman just had to interrupt. "All good lil' buddy! Just thinkin' about stuff. You know!" Sonic responded, putting on a smile. Tails squinted his eyes, judging Sonic for a moment then decided Sonics response was good enough for him. "Ok, well i'm going to bed. You should too, you seem tired." Tails got up from the sofa, Sonic heard a click of his bedroom door shutting. Sonic hadn't noticed but, body felt droopy and worn out. He decided to head to bed as well. "Maybe i'll have less on my mind in the morning." He said to himself. --- New yoke. Why was he back in new yoke? He spun around and spotted Renegade Knucks and Rebel Rouge as he did so. He ran over to them, "Yo! Guys! How-" he gets cut off. "It's ALL your fault sonic. None of this would have happened if you had listened to your friends." Rebel raised her voice as she spoke. "What do you mean?" Sonic answered, raising an eyebrow. "You know exactly what she means." Knucks frowned, "We wouldn't have gone through the pain we did if it weren't for. you. This is ALL YOUR FAULT!!" Knucks threw a punch at Sonics head but before he felt any impact he was swept into boscage maze. "Sonic." Prim's voice came from behind him. "We wouldn't have suffered if it weren't for you." "We wouldn't have had that argument and almost killed off the forest if you hadn't interfered." Thorn came in front of him. "We wouldn't have starved if you didn't break that prism hedgehog." Knarly scowled at sonic. "Guys! You- you know i didn't mean to... Im sorry i'm impulsive and i didn't think!" Sonic said, his voice trailing off as they all came charging at his body. The scenery changed again. "You... I would have been the greatest pirate in the whole seas if you hadn't broken reality." Dread whipped out his sword and pointed it at Sonics throat. "Woah! What happened to being friends? You know i'm sorry, you all do. What happened? I helped you fix the problems." Sonic put his hands up as a self defence mechanism. "That. Doesn't. Change. ANYTHING!!" Dread swung his sword. Sonic was in the grim... "Sonic." Nine pushed Sonic the the ground and stood over him. "You ruined my life. You only cared about your self. You're a selfish, entitled, idiotic and stuck up enemy. I never liked you... I hate you. WE hate you." Sonic realised everyone of the different versions of his friends were stood around him. He also saw his other friends... Amy, Knuckles, Rouge... Tails. They were all dead, pools of blood surrounding them. "We had to kill them, just like you killed our hopes and dreams Sonic the hedgehog." Shadows voice swirled around his head. "I'm sorry, i didn't mean to... Please just... I don't want- why..." Sonic couldn't get his words out. He was staring at his dead friends, then the rest of his altered friends, then shadow. Sonic didnt know what to do. He curled up in a ball as voice started shouting over him. "Were dead..." "This is all your fault." "You imbecile." "I hate you, i NEVER liked you." "No one will ever like you." Sonic began to scream. He shouted for anyone, he wanted it to stop. His throat felt like it snapped in two, he continued to scream... and scream... and...
"SONIC!!!" Someone had their hands on his shoulders. His duvet covers were tangled in his legs. Tears were streaming down his face, his throat felt like someone had held a knife up against it, sweat pasted his forehead and body. "Its me, its tails." Sonic threw himself onto tails' body and sobbed. "Ive got you, take deep breaths. It wasn't real..." Tails rubbed his back as Sonic sobbed and hyperventilated. "It was though. Parts... Of it. I- i cant- i'm... I'm so- sorry." Sonic sobbed. Tails didn't know what to say. Why was he sorry? "Don't be sorry, it's ok." Tails attempted at comforting Sonic again. Sonic buried his face into Tails' shoulder and continued to sob. He was mumbling other words but tails couldn't make them out.
Once Sonic had calmed down he sat away from Tails and rested his head against the back board. "I'm sorry 'bout that. I didn't mean to make you feel awkward or anything haha... I probably woke you up to." Sonic voice was tired and monotone as he spoke. "Sonic... How many times am i going to have to say this? You don't need to be sorry!" Tails sat in front of Sonic, Sonic moved his face deliberately not making eye contact. "You may have woken me up but i'm glad you did. You were in distress and i cant just leave you be to comfort yourself. I'm your best friend Sonic, your brother... I want to be there for you like you have been for me." Tails took Sonics hands as he spoke, Sonic looked at him with a tired smile, eyes red and swollen. "Now, do you want to talk about it? Your dream?" He spoke gently as to not seem like he was forcing sonic into it. Sonic paused for a moment then said, tapping the space next to him, "Make yourself comfy because the dream relates into a wholeeee different story you haven't heard yet." For the rest of the night, Sonic told Tails about what happened with the shatterspaces. When he finished it felt like a slight weight had been lifted off him. Maybe he should open up more.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meta Knights: Meta Knight, Axe Knight, Javelin Knight, Mace Knight, Trident Knight, Captain Vul, Sailor Waddle Dee, Blade Knight, Sword Knight
Team Dark: Shadow the Hedgehog, Rouge the Bat & E-123 Omega
Meta Knights:
they act like a rough and tumble crew but they care about each other sososomuch. esp meta knight he acts all Cool and Heartless and Lone Wolf etc etc but secretly he’s a huge softie who loves his crew so much. one time in one of the books iirc a random kid joined their crew and he was like “tch. whatever” and then the kid gets kidnapped and he immediately gets depressed and angst and goes to fight the strongest warrior in the galaxy bc he thought he wasn’t strong enough to protect his crew. in another one of those books he almost dies and ends up in a coma and the whole crew is worried sick about him. i love them all so much
this got deleted bc my phone hates me so i’m gonna be less detailed bc i don’t wanna rewrite the whole thing again but basically. they act tough but they all actually care about each other sosososmuch. meta knight esp. one time a random kid joined their crew and got kidnapped by pirates, he angsted over it then decided to summon the Stongest Fighter In The Galaxy to fight bc he wasn’t strong enough to protect his crew. one time he has a near-death experience and the whole crew is worried about him. i think vul cries at one point. these are both things that happened in the light novels btw, (@nyaagolor has a tl masterpost iirc if ur interested)

Team Dark:
all loners that stick together, all selfish pursuing their own desires at the cost of others yet sometimes throwing away there own desires for each other.

My last one about Sonic Prime, and one I don’t think a lot of people talk about.
Tumblr media
While a lot of people were excited about a Multiverse Story with Sonic, I think people were disappointed where it wasn’t really as explored as it could be. We got three Variants: New Yoke City (your bad alternate timeline deal), Boscage Maze (Jungle themed) and No Place (Pirates meet Water World). But one thing I began to wonder is do these variants reflect the main version of them?
Tumblr media
Let’s start off with Eggman, the only one with more than three variants and also the only one contained in one dimension. Mr. Doctor Eggman, Doctor Babble, Doctor Deep, Doctor Don't and Doctor Done-It. Babble is a baby, indicating some of Eggman’s childish tendencies (like complaining and wanting to build an amusement park). Deep could be Eggman’s surprisingly decent tendencies (he’s a feminist and does work out). Don’t have Eggman’s non-caring nature or anything other than his own doings. And Done-It could be Eggman’s feelings for doing all this for so long that he’s growing tired of it.
That leaves Mr. Doctor Eggman, who is honestly the closest to the Main Eggman. So you could say that the attributes that didn’t leave him remained with this version of Eggman. It also kind of shows that when they work together they could accomplish a lot of things if not for a certain blue Hedgehog. It also shows that it is these flaws that could also be the key reasons Eggman could be defeated by said Hedgehog, especially with that ending.
Tumblr media
The next up is Amy Rose who got three representatives: Rusty Rose, Thorn Rose and Black Rose. Thorn is obviously Amy’s love for nature and her desire to want to protect it. Black is Amy’s skills as a fighter and a leader. She’s very skilled with that sword and when Knux’s double dropped the role to her, she fits it like a glove. So what is Rusty’s connection to Amy Rose? I believe it is how she feels about Sonic.
The idea for Rusty Rose is that she needs the Birdie within her to keep her powered up, like how at Amy’s worst she feels she needs Sonic. So she does everything in her power to contain it, or be close to it as possible. When Rusty freed the bird, it showed that she doesn’t need anyone else but herself, a revelation we see similarly in Sonic Frontiers.
Tumblr media
Knuckles are super easy, barely an inconvenience to figure out. Knucks, Gnarly, Dread are Knuckles desires to help people, his naivety not shackled by the others and his obsessive nature of protecting the Master Emerald. Dread also showed that even though he does know it is important, he is willing to give it up to help others. Big is basically just Big three times. Nothing really seems that much of a stretch for him.
Tumblr media
Now onto the tricky ones. Tails is represented by Nine, Mangey, Sails. Nine obviously has Tails tragic history, only without anyone to help him nor the other sides to show him a better path. Sails is the loyalty Tails has with his friends, also the little bit of cowardness Tails has. But that leaves Mangey, who really seems way off to anything you can think of Tails. And all three Tails show his mastery of machinery so he can’t be that. Can he?
I think this is a stretch, but I think Mangey is Tails’ adaptability. His natural ability to be part of a group or interact with things. Like despite being feral, he showed to work great with the others. And despite not being in a world of technology, he was able to improve the energy shields of the Chaos Council to the point that he and Sails can rival Nine when it comes to technological knowledge.
Tumblr media
That leaves Rouge the Bat. Her representatives are Rebel, Prim, and Batten. Honestly, I think this is the hardest part of my theory since I don’t think I see a lot of aspects of Rouge within them. Starting with Rebel, and straight from the Wiki, Rebel is made from the part of her mainstream counterpart who is a confident leader, and more importantly, the part of her who is not greedy or selfish. While this was an unsourced claim, we do see Rouge is willing to be part of a team as the Leader of Team Dark as well as her willing to help Pro-Bono in Sonic Forces.
Prim according to the Wiki is manipulative, but I don’t recall many scenes with that. Maybe because the rest of her crew were not the brightest, I could see it as manipulating. But I think Prim is Rouge’s caring nature for her friends. She wants to help them. She makes amends when she finds out why Thorn forced them out of the forest. And when lying to Sonic, it was so he can help her friends. So that leaves Batten.
Honestly, I don’t remember much of Batten outside the Pirate theme. Though the Wiki says she is shown to be very energetic, a little frantic, always full of energy and ready to fight when it's necessary. Even when she never engaged in combat prior to Rusty Rose arriving in No Place. This is my biggest stretch, but I think this is her feelings when it comes to jewels. She’s always energetic when it comes to getting them, ready to fight for them, and a little frantic when she can’t get them. We could have seen more if she tried to go after the Gem like Dread did, but that’s a thing.
Tumblr media
Besides Rouge fully and Mange, I think this is what each version represents to the characters. Could I be wrong? Do you see something different? Try this for yourself and see if you can make better connections. It is a fun thought experiment.

Eclipse pisses Espio off one too many times and now Espio is OUT FOR BLOOD
"Uh-oh, you made Espio maaad!" Charmy singsonged.
"What are you talking about?" Eclipse rolled his eyes. "He looked fine to me."
"Nah, that was his mad face. He's furious." Vector stood up. "Good luck."
"Good-" he spluttered, nearly falling out of the chair. "What do you mean 'good luck'? What the hell are you saying?"
"You're gonna need it," Charmy snickered. The prospect of Eclipse being in mortal danger delighted him in only the way a six year old full of schadenfraude could be.
Whatever. Eclipse huffed and stomped away from the table (leaving his plate on it. What? If these humans were so desperate to let him into their houses he wasn't going to reward them by doing something as lowly as housework. He wouldn't be fooled into being anyone's servant.)
Espio was in the living room, sitting cross-legged on the floor with an assortment of weapons spread out neatly in front of him. He scraped a knife across a whetstone, making a shh-shh-shhk sound.
Eclipse stepped over a sword and some chain-thing. Espio's head shot up. "Don't touch anything." Shh-shh-shhk.
"Wasn't gonna," Eclipse grumbled. He grabbed the Switch from the charging port and took it to the laundry room, curling up in the warm dryer with his left foot hanging out the door. He started up the game, overwrote Silver's save file, and began a new one.
Beep-beep-beep. Eclipse's tongue poked out of the corner of his mouth as he focused on jumping over blocks to save a kidnapped princess. (If it was up to him, he'd just leave the princess to her fate, but obviously nobody asked him.) He could hear Silver and Charmy playing tag outside, loudly, with Wade yelling up at them not to fly too high. Espio and Shadow were in the living room, the only sounds from there being the occassional shh-shh-shhk of the knife.
He was halfway through the game when Wade opened the door. "Hey-" he said automatically, then stopped.
"...Are those my clothes?"
Eclipse blinked.
"Right. Sorry I asked." The human backed up and closed the door. Eclipse heard him walking away, mumbling under his breath about needing to make a new cup of coffee before dealing with this. His ear flicked.
He finished the next level. Wade came back to tell him that Vector and Espio and Charmy were going back to their house (he did not care) if he wanted to say goodbye (he did not). They took their baths. Silver got mad at Eclipse for deleting his save file, which ended up in a fight, which ended up in the human taking the Switch away for the rest of the night.
"Can I have it back tomorrow morning?" Silver whined, leaning over the edge of the top bunk.
"We'll see." Wade stood up on his tiptoes, far enough for Silver (with a little telekinetic help) to wrap his arms around his neck and plant a kiss on his cheek. After that he moved down to Shadow.
"Fist bump?"
The black hedgehog looked like he was seriously considering it, then put his hand out. "Night, Dad."
"Night, bud," Wade smiled. He then turned to the closet.
"Good-"
Eclipse slammed the door shut.
"...night."
He curled up on a pile of blankets nested in the corner. The thin light shining under the door went out, leaving him in total darkness. He yawned.
Shh-shhk.
Eclipse bolted up.
Shh-ssh-shhk.
"Hello?" he whispered.
Shh-shh-shhk.
"Shadow? ...Silver? Is that you?"
Shhhhhhk. Now Eclipse was getting mad. "It's not funny, you guys!"
The light flipped on. Soft footsteps pattered out the room, then reappeared with heavier ones moments later. Wade knocked on the door.
"Eclipse? You okay?"
"I'm fine!" he snapped.
"Really? Shadow said you were talking in your sleep...."
"Not sleeping."
"Then what-"
He opened the door slowly. "Not sleeping. There's some...thing in here."
"Yeah, there's an alien," Wade smiled wryly. Eclipse stamped his foot.
"Not me! There's something else!"
"Alright, alright, don't get upset." Wade poked his head in, using his phone's flashlight to scan the darker corners. "...Everything looks fine to me."
Of course the stupid human would say that. Eclipse grit his teeth.
"Maybe it's invisible." Shadow pointed out.
"Or maybe it's a ghost!" Silver cried. "Do you think it's a ghost, Dad? Did anyone die in this house?"
"Uh..." Wade flipped off the light. "If you're scared of ghosts, Eclipse, you're free to sleep anywhere else. Except for my room. And the kitchen. And the table. And...okay, you can sleep on the couch."
Eclipse sniffed haughtily. "I'm not sleeping on the couch."
The closet wasn't an option, though.
He slunk across the floor, shaking his brother. "Shadow-"
"Go away," Shadow grumbled, rolling over.
Well, fine, Eclipse huffed.
He found himself sleeping on the couch.
Although sleeping wasn't quite the right word for it - more like sitting on it wrapped in one of the fluffier blankets from the closet nest. The tv was turned on to some human fighting channel. He watched a heavily-armed person tackling someone on a field of grass and closed his eyes, half-listening to the stream of chatter coming from the commentators.
...Shh-shhk.
His eyes snapped open.
The fighting arena on tv had changed; now everybody was on ice, holding large sticks that they were, for some reason, not hitting or stabbing with. What even were the rules for these tournaments? They seemed very inefficient. The Black Arms would have-
Shk. He jumped, grabbing the remote to turn the tv off, sitting in total darkness and silence.
Shhhhhk.
Wade opened his eyes to see a pair of red ones staring down from the ceiling.
"What the-!"
Eclipse dropped down, bouncing on the mattress a little.
"There's somebody in our house." He informed matter-of-factly.
He rubbed his eyes. "Eclipse, if somebody was in our house, I'd have gotten an alarm about it on my phone."
"Well, your 'phone' must be broken because-."
"Okay," Wade grunted, sitting up like he'd really rather not do this. Mostly because he wouldn't. But he'd gone through similar phases as a kid, and if this finally got the little alien to sleep, then it'd be worth it. "Come with me."
He walked Eclipse through the house, testing the doors and all the windows. Just like he knew, everything was locked tight. Eclipse, however, insisted on checking everything again a second time. Then a third time. Then a-
"I'm not checking everything a fourth time."
Eclipse scowled. "You still don't believe me."
"Sure, sure," he yawned. "You were probably just dreaming. The wind makes strange sounds sometimes...."
"Okay, but if somebody IS in the house, I can kill them, right?"
"Please don't."
"You never said murder was against the house rules," he grumbled.
"I really thought it'd be implied." he yawned again. "Now please. Go to sleep. And don't wake me until after the sun is up."
The noise did not wait for the sun to be up.
Shhk. Shhk.
"What do you want?" he demanded, sitting up on the couch.
Silence.
"Are you a ghost?"
Again, no reply.
"I'll have you know, I'm not scared of-" something cold and metal and sharp pressed to the back of his neck.
"W-"
"Go ahead and call," a voice hissed next to his ear, just as chilling as the knife. "If you think they'll believe you."
"That's...." Eclipse wanted to snap back that that was ridiculous, of course his- the others would believe him.
But Shadow had gotten mad at him. And Wade had told him not to bother him.
He really was alone.
"Well?" The blade pressed deeper, close enough that he could feel the edge digging into his skin. "Have anything to say?"
"I'm sorry, okay! I'm sorry I said your poems were cringe!"

spoiler for the new episode of demon slayer + manga spoiler mentions! do not read more if you haven't seen it yet! i warned you!
first of all i just wanna say tanjiro and nezuko are better than me. bc if karaku's crazy fine ass was chasing after me i would have been chasing right after him. bc like how could you not?
THEN SEKIDO SMILING?! SEKIDO. SMILING. AWWW HELLL NOOO BOYYY-
Tumblr media
then the scene with muichiro encountering gyokko was so damn disturbing. like they made gyokko look even more weird than what he did in the first ep of the season. which is good bc look at him. he's a fucking monster.
but that fucking "art" with the damn swordsmiths SO DAMN DISTURBING. AND TO BE ANIMATED OH MY GAWD. traumatizing poor little kotetsu like that :'(
oh and when tanjiro reached his idk i wanna say his potential? yall know what im talkin bout when he fucking using sun breathing to slice through hantengu's counterparts (rip sekido, karaku, and urogi) YOOO THEY WERE SO FUCKING SCARED BC THEY SAW FLASHBACKS OF FUCKING YORIICHI. I KNOW THEY WERE PISSING THEIR PANTS ESPECIALLY UROGI LIL COCKY SHIT.
urogi: hehe im gonna kill you now lil boy-
yoriichi: *appears from beyond the grave*
urogi: oh shit-
LIKE DAMN BRO.
then we get to THAT part. the fucking bbg of the season, my precious little aizetsu decapitated by genya. y'all should of heard me i was like "NOOOOO" when i saw that scene and my aunt goes, "wth happened who died?" and i was like "my husband!" XD
Tumblr media
anyways i was so fucking sad when that happened. bc aizetsu's face looked so defeated. but with genya being a demon or whatever the fuck he got going on- like bro. bro was on DEMON TIME. literally.
he looked like genos from one punch man when i saw his eyes. then the black and yellow hair reminded me of shadow the hedgehog. idk thats just what i thought when i saw genya.
i havent read the manga so idk what happens after, but i hope genya is like nezuko and doesn't hurt tanjiro in the next episode. the only way that's gonna happen is plot armor. which is basically saving their asses atp. bc if they're fighting an upper moon 4 ALONE. WITHOUT THE HELP OF A HASHIRA- then yeah plot armor is gonna weasel her ass in and save them.
like imagine if you were a kanoe like tanjiro fighting an upper moon 4, who has four fucking counterparts (i know there's five or six BUT FOR RIGHT NOW THERE IS FOUR) you'd be dead. period.
besides from all of this let's get to my girl mitsuri coming through and saving them swordsmiths at the village. like omg when she started slicing these demon hoes i was like "that's my bitch!" i got a laugh in when tecchin and the other swordsmith were "fighting" over mitsuri caring over them. tbh i would too. so i aint gon blame em.
i did not know her sword could do that though with the whole flexibility like thing. i was thinking that obanai could do a flexible sword since he's a serpent hashira and he carries a snake around with him. but idk idk i didn't make the characters just my opinion.
i cant wait to see the next episode of demon slayer. i got spoilers from the manga and i know that the quadruplets are gonna combine and form into zohakuten. sad to see them go.
