Un-Convention-Al: At The Turn Of The Tide
Pony Gandalf to the Rescue.
Shadow Lock was shocked. One of the Pillars, the one who created many of the spells his family learned, was here. And instead of helping him, he was saving the Pony of Shadows. He could not believe it. “I do not know what kind of spell he placed on you Starswirl,” Shadow Lock declared, “but once his life ends you will be freed of whatever enchantment he placed on...” “ENOUGH!” Starswirl shouted.
Starswirl closed his eyes as his horn glowed. Shadow Lock was ready to defend himself, but instead of an attack the glowing stopped. When Starswirl opened his eyes, he began to speak. “That was a spell I created. It allows me to see the past up to a certain point in the area I am in. So I know your reason for your action.” Starswirl walked up to Shadow Lock. “If you truly believe Stygian deserves death, then that punishment must be mine as well.”
Shadow Lock was in disbelief. How could Starswirl say this unless he was under some sort of spell. “There’s no reason you should be to blame! It was him that became the Pony of Shadows! It was him who tried to steal your powers!” “He was not trying to steal our powers. He wanted validation that I wrongfully took from him.” Starswirl’s magic created a screen. It showed visually what Starswirl was explaining.
“Stygian was a Unicorn who thought of gathering the greatest heroes of legend together to save his village from Sirens. When he arrived with the other Pillars, I immediately took control of the situation. As we grew in notoriety, Stygian kept falling deeper into the Shadows. When we confronted him about taking our items, it was I who thought the worst. I didn’t allow him to explain himself. So it is my fault he became the Pony of Shadows.”
“We sacrificed ourselves to put him in Limbo, but all that did was continue the cycle of hate your family received and the darkness in his heart. If only I understood the meaning of Friendship, none of that would happen. Instead, it was my ego that ruined any chance for Stygian and your family. And it would take the heroes of this time to show me my own failings.” Starswirl turned off his magic and walked towards Shadow Lock.
“Don’t you see? None of this would have happened if I just listened. And when I finally did, the Pony of Shadow was truly defeated. No need for us to disappear or for some creature to die. The only thing that remains are memories; lessons that we should keep not to avenge our past but to prevent it from happening again. Let go of this hate and move on. You’ll be surprised what Harmony can do for you.”
Shadow Lock listened to Starswirl’s tale. Those words really got to him. His entire family from generation to generation carried this hate. They were the only ones who considered the threat of the Pony of Shadows as others moved on. Other dangers came and went while they waited for one that never came. Could Starswirl be right? But that’s when Shadow Lock remembered something. He turned to Stygian and looked him in the eye.
“What happened to my father?”

Un-Convention-Al: Evening the Odds
The Battle against Shadow Lock continues...
Shadow Lock is struggling. Despite their differences, they are getting better and better. If he doesn’t take care of them soon enough, he may get overwhelmed. That’s when the odd looking creature began to talk. “We got Two Princesses, two Superheroes and even a giant beast on our side! Unless you have some way to take away all their powers, you can’t handle these odds!” Of course! He gave these creatures these powers. He can take it away.
Shadow Lock concentrated on a big spell. The others were ready to block but they were not prepared for a shockwave. This shockwave covered a large radius. As quickly as others were given these powers, they were taken away even faster. Celestia gave a knowing smile as she faded away. The same for everyone else’s power. They were back to their normal selves. But what surprised Shadow Lock was Big Spike still being there.
“How can that be? You should have faded away.” Before he could question more, he was tackled by Smolder. No longer being the Non-Combative Dragon from the Spyro Series, she was able to be her true dragon self. She grabbed hold of Shadow Lock’s horn, thinking it would negate his magic. Instead, she received a nasty shock that made her loosen their grip. This allowed the Unicorn to telekinetically push her off.
Before he could respond, he was hit by some sort of goo. The goo made him stuck to the ground. He was trying to use his magic to remove him from this situation, but the goo was also covering his horn. To his shock, it also nullified his magic. He looked towards what could have done that and saw a blue blob creature. Another fictional creature that somehow remained? That’s when a bluish fire engulfed it, revealing that it was the Changeling Ocellus.
“You were right Juliet! It worked!” Ocellus excitedly said. Juliet crossed her arms and smirked. “It's obvious he didn’t do any research before doing this crusade thing. And with the Smooze’s gooey moves, capturing him was a snap!” Shadow Lock was trying to fight his way out of it as Stygian walked up to him. “I am sorry for what I have done. I was so mad at how I was distrusted, I turned to the Shadows. It promised me things and I accepted it without a second thought.”
“I never considered the effects my choices had on my remaining family. If I was a stronger pony then, I probably would have refused. But since I returned, I was freed from the Shadow’s influence. The Pony of Shadows is no more. There is nothing to fear from me or it ever again.” Shadow Lock listened to all this and just got more angry. So angry his magic became stronger. The Smooze Goo tried its best to hold him, but even they were no match for Shadow Lock’s sudden burst.
Shadow Lock was freed. With his magic, he telekinetically held everyone up. Even Big Spike was powerless to fight against this. “You think a simple apology would absolve you of your sins! Only your death will fix that! For all the torment you have caused my family for Generations!” His telekinetic grip was tightening around Stygian’s neck. That’s when another blast hit Shadow Lock from behind. The Cloaked Pony turned around and was shocked to see the person who shot him.
It was Starswirl the Bearded.

Time to end G4’s Official Run with IDW Comics...
Before I begin, as a reminder, I consider the Classic Reimagined Comics to be part of the G5 lineup despite it focusing on the G4 cast. So once I finish with MLP Generations, unless I mistakenly missed a previous G4 Comic, this will be the last of the IDW Comics until I get to review all of Generation 5. But that’s future AkumaTh’s Problem. Today, we’re going back to the past...
We begin this issue with the Daughters of Reeka and Draggle, Grackle and Dyre. Ignoring the questions on how they had kids, they’re stuck in the volcano while they’re... Somewhere. I don’t think this comic ever explains what. But they’re gone for a month and the kids need to do their chores, which includes getting revenge on the Ponies. That’s definitely a “leave it to us” job and not something their kids should do, but they’re stuck there with nothing to do, so might as well.
Luckily for them, they got their pet rat/possum Trench who can magically dig his way into another dimension. During this visit we see G4 at the School of Friendship, and the school is packed. So much so that despite all the teachers they’re being overworked. So after debating on what to do, Dash suggests getting help from outside Ponyville to help teach. And with that news, the Teenagers have an idea.
Make their own ponies out of Smooze, the OG one, to go over there and cause mischief. And after a trip because they can only do magic within the Volcano, they got their three Smooze Ponies and are being considered Teachers from Hayvard Unicornitivisty. And the comic ends with them showing up, and not a single Generation 1 Character appearing once.
That is a big flaw with this miniseries that everyone has pointed out: for a crossover with Generation 1 there isn’t a lot of Generation 1. We have daughters of G1 villains who look more Equestria Girls. We have minor references with nothing major like pictures of their mothers and Grandma. And not a single pony from the movie. You could literally rewrite the dialogue and you would never think of this as a crossover comic.
Another thing I’ve seen others bring up is how the comic HEAVILY references the show. Like you can overlay a screenshot and it looks like it was traced. I don’t mind because I think it is more of a reference thing that someone took way too seriously. Either that or they rushed it to get it out before G5. I only bring this up because one scene in the comic kind of looks and sounds like Evil Starlight, despite explaining why they’re overworked.
And sadly, this problem will continue to exist next issue...

Why we have Crossover DLC Characters...
So I have certain tastes, and that means I don’t watch many shows others may like. If it interests me, I’ll give it a shot. Usually what gets me is random clips or finding out their intros are frikkin awesome. And Peacemaker fills those two slots. Thanks to his appearance in MK1 being so fun and full of references to his stuff, it made me check out the intro, which is so frikkin fun! So I am giving it a One Shot.
So after the movie (which I haven’t seen), Peacemaker is in the hospital being discharged. He thinks he should be going to jail but decides to use this time to escape since it seems like nobody is actually interested in capturing him. So while we see this lady text someone that he’s leaving, he gets into a Taxi and celebrates. Cue intro.
Man, this intro is so fun. It's basically the entire cast dancing to a song called “Do you wanna taste” and it looks so fun. I wish more shows had intros like these. Returning to the show proper, we see some females entering a room (one of them being Leota Adebayo for future reference). I believe they are a couple because they’re talking about having a kid and calling them Octopussy. Bond fans, am I right?
Back with Peace Cena, and after paying the Taxi with the helmet he wore during the movie, he’s back home and locked out of it. He had to break into his own house, and man it's a mess. Not like “someone broke into it” mess but more “haven’t picked up anything in months” mess. So apparently Vigilante is a “friend” who constantly calls him.
Of course, returning home means people who captured you the first time would know you would come back to it, and one of them is Leota from before. The Bond Fan. And I think the others are the ones who helped the Suicide Squad in the movie. That’s when Clemson Murn offers Peacemaker a deal: work for him and avoid going to jail.
Yeah, this is definitely Leota’s first job. And it's honestly funny. So the job is called Project: Butterfly, not a giant Mothra but alien parasites who possess people. And between working with that or having his head blown up, he accepts the job. He just needs to pick up his sidekick Eagly and visit his father to get a new costume and helmet. Also, he’s racist so he’s as bad as you think he is. Eagly is alive, healthy, and a hugger.
After looking at the demoted allies to Peacemaker, we see Cena trying to make a connection with his father, by telling the story about one of the guys having a rat phobia and why. Sadly, it didn’t last long since he was the guy who shot him. Now we get to why Peacemaker showed up: getting a new helmet. Yeah, glad to move away from this scene because the father is a distasteful man that we’re supposed to hate.
At the meeting, Peacemaker arrives dressed in full gear, to a casual meeting. Honestly, it is frikkin fun. They bounce off each other so well. Leota is fun. Harcourt kicks butt. And Economos reminds me of Deadpool’s friend from the movie. So after a series of events, and a sex scene with nudity, we find out Leota not only is working for Amanda Waller but is her daughter.
And after that and a dance scene of Cena in his underwear, the girl Peacemaker slept with attacked him. Let's say the fight scene makes it really clear he is a perfect fit for Mortal Kombat. So while more adult than stuff I typically watch, it was a fun episode. And with only eight episodes I can definitely get this done before the year ends.

Un-Convention-Al: Boss Battle
Time to confront Shadow Lock. (No images this week, wasn't feeling well when uploading this.)
Shadow Lock was looking at the scene. Despite giving who he perceived as heroes everything they needed, The Pony of Shadows and his allies were still able to escape. And despite the clear target, two of those heroes were corrupted by the Shadow Pony and are working alongside them. If he only gave life to Heroes this wouldn’t have happened but the spell was all or nothing. He thought the lesser characters wouldn’t matter.
Instead, they somehow band together and create obstacles for the Heroes who were still doing their jobs. The Pony of Shadows must be defeated. And if these fictional heroes weren’t up for the job, Shadow Lock figured he would end it himself. So as soon as he saw them exiting the building, he decided to confront them himself. Give them no time to rest and take advantage of their confusion.
Back with our group, they were just catching their breath when Celestia rushed in front of them. She used her magic to block an incoming attack. It was Shadow Lock. Stygian looked towards the unknown entity and asked “why are you doing this? What have I ever done to you?” Shadow Lock took off his hood and gave a look that would have killed. “You may have tricked these fools, but I know your true intentions Pony of Shadows!”
“When you turned your back on the Pillars, the rest of your family had to suffer people’s wrath. This grew worse when the Pillars disappeared. The other ponies believed you took them out and ostracized us! So to make up for your sins, our family devoted our lives to ensure that if you were to ever return, we will be the ones to ultimately stop you! For many generations, we waited patiently, developing our magic for such an outcome.”
“Then the Pillars returned. My father saw this as a sign and thought our task may be over. We could earn forgiveness from the Pillars themselves and break us of this bond. Then we found out that Stygian, our ancestor, has returned as well. And instead of the imprisonment he rightfully deserved, the Pony of Shadows for some reason became a Best Selling Author! Surely, there was a spell made to make them forget your past!:
“But we never did! My father went out to end you, yet never returned. That means it is up to me to end the Pony of Shadow’s life once and for all! And the Horrors our family had to suffer will be finally forgiven!” Shadow Streak charged another energy blast and fired towards the group. Everyone scattered to avoid it. Big Spike decided to charge towards the Cloaked Individual. Despite his focus on magic, Shadow Streak is surprisingly agile and avoided all of Spike’s attempts.
Celestia and Mina, still with the Power of Princess Luna, did a combined blast towards their opponent. Shadow Streak saw this coming and teleported away, letting their combined blast hit the bigger Spike. When he reappeared, he did an explosion-like spell to separate the two. Little Spike was coaching Gabby to use Masked Matter-Horn’s powers, but by the time she actually managed to fire a shot, Shadow Streak had a spell ready to reflect the blast.
As those capable of fighting continued, Stygian, Smolder, Juliet and Ocellus looked on. Stygian looked shocked knowing his actions hurt his family, so that led Smolder to speak up. “Come on Ocellus! You got Professor Dash’s abilities. You can run circles around this guy.” “You see how he’s handling the others. We need a plan before we can do anything.” Juliet got an idea.

The return of Patton Oswalt.
So Appleoosa opened a big Buck Ball Museum and Stadium, and since it was so recent it means the only induction is Team Ponyville. But Rainbow Dash has to go to the museum since Applejack is busy. But guess who is waiting on line for the museum: Quibble Pants. He found a new pony friend called Clear Sky (not to be confused with Clear Skies) and her daughter Wind Spirit.
You can see right away that Quibble is trying to win over Wind Spirit because he’s acting like he is a fan when it is very clear he doesn’t even know most sports. He really likes Clear Sky but feels that if he can’t win over the kid he can’t really be a part of this family. So Rainbow Dash is trying to help him win Wind Spirit over. Long story short, it isn’t working out.
Let’s face it, Dash’s idea is to do Quibbles' plan was not the way to go, but it is something Dash would do. Like she’s the friend that when you ask “would you help me rob a bank” she would be all in, even when the person asking is having second guesses. Especially when she finds out Wind Spirit doesn’t like Daring Do. Also, I just noticed Quibble saying Speed like Lightning McQueen. Was that intentional?
Basically at his lowest, Rainbow Dash finally figured out that the best idea for Quibble is to be himself and that she isn’t the pony he should be asking advice from. To said pony, we find out why Wind Spirit is so against Quibble Pants, she doesn’t want him to replace her father who I suspect is pushing up daisies. Clear Sky ensures her that he’s not trying to replace him, just wants her to like him too.
So with Quibble Pants asking Wind Spirit to help him get into sports and the girl listening to her mother’s advice, gives it a chance. And while she is teaching him about sports, he’s showing her the wonderful world of books by using the Buckball Almanac to predict the moves of Pinkie Pie. So it ends happily with Quibble a few years away from marrying Clear Sky.
Whether you enjoy it or not will depend on how you deal with watching Quibble Pants fail at trying to be a Sports Pony. I enjoyed it because it shows him trying to at least win over the kid instead of just dating the parent and ignoring her. He really wants to be a part of their world and that is sweet. Taking a Scary Spaghetti Story more seriously than it should be taken.

So I was looking on Twitter when I saw some people debate about how Sonic Vs Furnace would go. Who is Furnace? He is a Mecha Sonic from the Starved Horror Story. Basically, after Sonic 1, Dr. Robotnik decided to start eating those he captured and wants to do the same thing to our favorite Blue Blur. So he created Furnace instead of Metal Sonic so he can cook bigger animals. Like Amy Rose and Sonic. Sonic was faster, but a distraction caused him to be slammed into the open flames of Furnace, who got ahead of him while Robotnik distracted the hero.
That’s the story of Sonic Vs Furnace in the Starved Story. But how would it go if we used actual Sonic Vs this Metal Sonic replacement? Since this takes place up to CD, that means only Sonic 1 and CD up to Stardust Speedway Zone. Now what about Sonic 2? For a while, people debated if it came before CD or after. In the Starved storyline, Tails knows of Sonic and Eggman, so it takes place before CD. But considering Origins says otherwise plus the fact Sonic 3 takes place RIGHT after Sonic 2, I’m sticking with Sonic 1 and CD.

So what does Furnace bring to the table? According to CONTINUED: The Sonic Oddities Wiki, he has fire attacks like shooting fireballs and flamethrowers (I wouldn’t really call this Pyrokinesis), High IQ, Sharp Claws, Flight, Super Speed and Strength, Fighting Experience, Homing attack and Spin-Dash. But there are two additions I do not agree with. The first is the assumption that he has everything Metal Sonic has due to being an alternate version of him. The truth is, he is not an Alternate Version of Metal Sonic.
Metal Sonic was made to be a rival to Sonic. Better and faster in every way. He does this by overloading his systems, giving him a great boost at a time but leaves him open for attack. He’s also mostly on electricity, so his power source, his attacks, are all electric based. In contrast, Furnace was made to catch and cook humanoid animals, thus why he has mostly fire in his attacks. Even ignoring the original creator saying he runs on coal, he has to be also running on gas to have that oven on at all times at a high degree to cook his foes.
A gallon of gas is 8 pounds. Giving him that much means he would have 9 hours of heat on a medium heat. So most likely less if he has it at max heat. So the more gallons he is packing, the heavier (and slower) Furnace would be. Which goes well with my other disagreement: Furnace being actually faster than Sonic. In the story, Sonic was out pacing him and only got caught because he was distracted by Eggman while it just flew past the loop de loops of Stardust Speedway.
Now how about Sonic? Would ramming at Furnace’s open oven at full speed do anything to the real Sonic? Well, in the story the slam could be heard across the planet. But is that the max Sonic could be hurt? Let’s start with the cooking. How hot is Furnace? According to google, the highest temperature for an Electric Oven is the Neapolis 6 at 510°C. Lava can range around 800 °C to 1,200 °C. And what Sonic has to be around in Sonic 1’s Marble Zone? Lava. So Sonic definitely wouldn’t be passing out to the heat. But what about slamming himself against the interior metal?
Well, if we take the track used in Sonic Vs Metal Sonic in CD, it is not a straight path. So Sonic reaching speeds for that to be a possibility is not very likely. But assuming if it's a straight path, would that hurt? Let me answer that question with another question: which would hurt more, slamming yourself into a flat wall or slamming yourself into Spikes? Spikes would be my answer since they were made for piercing and what is a common trap for Sonic?
Spikes. There are spikes on the ground. Spikes that come from the ceiling. Spikes that can show up suddenly without notice. And Sonic could survive these encounters as long as he got rings, which he can get before his encounter with Metal Sonic in CD (or Furnace in Starved). Not to mention regardless if he was unaware or not, he hits metal at high speeds all the time. Regardless if it is an attack on Robotnik or not pressing down to roll in time to destroy walls, Sonic has taken such hits and been fine.
So in my opinion, if we used true Sonic and put him in this situation, he would slam himself into Furnace, and simply break out of it before he can be cooked. He’s been around hotter temperatures and has slammed himself into metal walls with no issue. And if he has rings even if it hurts it will take most of the damage for him. And this is just using two games. Imagine if I used the games that came out between 1 and CD. SegaSonic the Hedgehog if it came out in June would have been months before CD. Both versions of Sonic 2 came out before CD. Using the North American release, Sonic Chaos came out on the same day. And imagine using the games that came after.
Yeah, if you took the real canon into account, Furnace wouldn’t be a big deal to Sonic. But that’s the logic of fanfiction: taking leaps of logic and ignoring things to do the story you want to do. Like it's why all those Infection AUs for Ponies exist despite the fact magic could literally fix their problems.

Ending my take on the Season 10 comics...
Before the finale, let’s take care of the minor differences of #100. Basically, the McGuffin is Love Based so it required the next in line to get married to properly use it. Most of the story happens as it was shown otherwise. Ceridwen left as soon as Prince Huginn grew big and was accidentally destroying the Kingdom. While Dash rushed back, the others were trying to explain the magic the other groups had seen.
Since the Love McGuffin wasn’t strong enough, the rest of the family got together because despite how she was raised, they all considered her part of the family. So their bonds of friendship allowed them to stop the destruction of their kingdom and they were working to get an armada to follow Rainbow Dash and Ceridwen to Canterlot. And with that out of the way, now we enter #101 proper.
Funny enough, it mostly stays the same. Twilight was preparing everything to defend while ensuring the safety of others. Danu of Cunabula makes his offer and when Twilight tells him they can’t, the Knights go on the attack. Twilight’s forces tried as they might, but they were overpowered by the Knights of Order. No dialogue to explain who they are, but still displaying most of the powers we didn’t see in the previous stories.
It finally starts to get different in #102. They discovered what Equestria would call Harmony Magic and wanted to spread their beliefs to other lands. When they tried with the Pony Land, it was when Discord was in charge. According to their story, Discord was unable to make them distrust each other, but got the other lands to do so. But because they were taught how to use Harmony Magic by the Knights, they were unable to win. To ensure they wouldn’t be threatened again, they removed their part of the land’s history while keeping an eye on them.
The reason Morrigan attacked Abyssinia was because of them going to the Convocation of Creatures, thinking this was them building up their forces. In fact, this current action was because they felt Equestria was doing just that and they wanted to keep Cunabula safe regardless of their land being hidden. That’s when Danu sees Discord and has tunnel vision. When the Knights leave and Discord reveals it was a fake, he tells his side of the story.
He was minding his own business, having fun causing all the chaos he was doing when the Knights of Harmony showed up. They made it clear their intentions were to spread THEIR meaning of Harmony or else and tried to attack Discord to show that they mean business. Despite their strong magic, Discord’s was stronger and in the end was able to send them packing. That’s all Discord knows about them, which leads to the others filling in the rest of the blanks.
They weren’t trying to spread their message, they were on a crusade. They wanted others to follow their way or be taken out. So when the other lands found out about their defeat, they saw an opportunity to get back their freedom. In a sense, they did get it but now had to live in suffering because the Knights made sure they wouldn’t get back to the prosperity they had under the Knight’s rule. Until Twilight’s Expedition plans showed them the ability to use Harmonic Magic.
Then it goes back to how IDW displayed it, where a group of people handle a single Knight since they were shown bickering with each other regardless of being on the same side. When Danu is seemingly the last one standing, he does his speech about how the Harmonic Magic (replaces the words Elements) will lead to war. Twilight tries for a rebuttal but Balor’s plans interrupts her before she could properly reply.
Danu tries his “destroy all of Equestria” plan, but like the comic the other nations arrive. They stop the destruction and confront him one last time. Danu has the magic of the other knights within him thanks to Balor, so he used it thinking his knowledge of the Harmonic Magic would win. But when Twilight uses it, her magic alone was enough to block it. Danu doesn’t understand, they were united and studied how to use this magic for generations. How was she easily overpowering it?
One by one others began to connect with Twilight. Each time, her magic gets stronger and stronger. Twilight replies “you may have been trying to control this magic, but in truth you were never able to realize its full potential. Despite everything you have learned, you never discovered the most important thing about this kind of magic. And that is Friendship is Magic!” With a full powered beam, Danu is defeated and depowered.
Because of Balor’s action, all the Knights of Order have lost their magic, making them powerless now. Still vowing that they will defeat them, they were sent to Tartarus. The comic ends with Twilight and all the nations that help coming to Cunabula not as an invading army, but as a welcoming committee wanting to bring the hidden land back to the rest of Equestria. And it ends with Luster Dawn telling this story to the rest of her new friends.
The others are amazed at such a story and wonder if they’ll have adventures like that. Luster tells them that whatever happens, they’ll do it together as friends.

And that’s how I’ll do the Season 10 story if I could. Maybe cut down on the G1/G4 crossover to get one more comic for it. But now that leaves one Question: how would the Knights of Harmony work with GLAB?

Time to end the Friendship is Magic Series...
Twilight is at Canterlot making sure they’re ready for the Knights of Harmony’s attack (and Lyra is there despite being in the Cat Kingdom last issue). Magical shields covering the city, civilians and even animals in a safe location, and the Royal Guard alongside some of the best fighters are ready for action. But it seems one of the Knights wants to talk to Twilight.
His name is Danu and he promised to spare them as long as they hand over the Elements. But since they’re a part of them, they can’t. So that makes them go on the offense. The shield is powerful, but they never covered underneath the Earth for some odd reason. Professor Two-Brains ensured that and one of his two brains is a rat.
So the Knights go on the attack and make short work of Twilight’s army. Danu controls the Earth, is the leader, and represents Loyalty. Taranis represents Pride and controls wind. Mannah represents Acceptance and controls water. Balor represents Magic and basically is able to take it away from others. Ceridwen represents Equity and her power basically takes powers from someone and can give them to others. And Morrigan represents Faith and basically mind controls people.
101 ends with the Knights cornering everyone and 102 begins with telling their origin story. According to them, their Kingdom wanted to spread THEIR way across other lands. When they failed to do so with Discord, that’s when the other Elements counter attacked their country. Sadly, they were the ones who taught them how to use the magic and easily dispatched them. Then they hid the temples and themselves to protect their kingdom only coming back out because Twilight is bringing them back.
I already said how much of this is a load of baloney, but to sum it up they pretty much want to make people do things THEIR way and when they found out others resent them basically trying to take over their culture, they made sure to take away their gifts. This is basically Gentrification in a nutshell. And they want to make sure nobody can use the Elements against them.
That is until Discord shows up, so tunnel vision gets to Danu and he orders the Knights to give chase. Too bad it was a trick and it gave Twilight and the gang a game plan: separate the Knights and show them what Harmony really is like. And it works but sadly Discord only made 5 clones so when it came time to unite, one of them pretended to be Spike.
Stealing Twilight and Starswirl’s magic, they gave it to Danu who proceeded to try to destroy Canterlot. Luckily thanks to asking for help earlier, everyone arrived to help. And combined, they were able to defeat Danu, the Knights of Harmony and promise that the future will bring nothing but harmony, which the actual Series Finale delivered.
Overall, while it was action packed, it carries with it the burden of IDW’s ideas. Trying to create so many new characters without having the time to fresh them out really makes those final moments not as exciting. And honestly, we don’t really get to see Danu see his defeat because his last words were still saying that she’ll regret this.
And honestly, they definitely needed a true comeuppance. Something to make them see that they were wrong. They weren’t using the Elements of Harmony, they were trying to control it. They didn’t understand what it truly could do and thus their fears became true because someone else who DID know how to use them showed them the way.
It’s given a big explanation point in Danu’s fight against Maud, Stygian and Cadance: He knows how to use the Earth, but he doesn’t understand it as well as Maud, who made all of his “I threw a rock at him” plans fail. But because we only see them KOed and Danu still saying his thing and nothing else (no imprisonment, no disappearing, he’s just standing there), the defeat isn’t as satisfying as other villains.
Still, this is how IDW ended their long running comic series about Ponies. But they still have a few more issues and plan to do something fans wanted. Just not as good... Also, the rewrites will come in two parts: the Finale of IDW had hindsight and what if GLAB Vs the Knights of Order.

We only got a few Panicky Twilight episodes left...
I’m presuming Moon Dancer didn’t take Twilight’s offer back then because Celestia was cleaning up Twilight’s old room and returned a box full of her old stuff. Among said old stuff is an old library book she took out. And to her horror, she never returned it. That means her record of being the Best Book Borrower is gone.
Spike is there to try to calm her down, and at times rein her in when she’s trying to avoid the subject. But when Twilight discovers that her old Librarian, Dusty Pages, stopped working after her own Perfect Record was destroyed, this led to Twilight trying to find her so she can return the book and get her old job back.
The two eventually find Dusty, but she’s having the time of her life. She’s even grateful that she lost it because it showed her that failing is not bad. This inspired her to leave the library gig and try out new things. And this gives Twilight the motivation to finally return the book despite the late fees. Luckily it only tops at a month but she gets to keep the book to remind herself that Perfection is an Impossible goal.
It's definitely an easy to summarize episode since most of the entertainment comes from in between. Twilight’s panicking, Spike trying to calm her down, them calculating how much she owes, the traveling to find Dusty. Moon Dancer coming back. It's a harmless episode at worst.
