oh boy do i have thoughts

i only watched the full thing once with a friend so i dont remember all of it, but of what i do remember, 1. rarity was done even dirtier than BOD; 2. they were so mean to rarity's daughter for literally no reason???? she literally didnt do anything and they always called her a spoiled brat or smth??? i feel so bad for her; 3. yes most of my problems have to do with rarity - i hate that shes encouraged to stay with fancypants bc it was changelings making him look like he was cheating on rarity. like yeah girl you should talk to him abt it like an adult but YOU CAN STILL LEAVE HIM FOR BEING A SHITTY DAD TO JEWEL 😭; 4. hey dick cordddd ur still manipulative af; 5. YOURE TELLING ME THERES ONE QUEER RELATIONSHIP IN THE ENTIRE SERIES AND THEY DIDNT EVEN GET TOGETHER??? FOR A SUPER SMALL REASON COMPARED TO WHY OTHERS SHOULDNT BE TOGETHER???????? come on now; 6. get all the baby filler away from me rn why the FUCK did literally ALL of them have to bang except for ONE; 7. fuck outta here applespike

i think thats mostly all of my qualms with it, but other than that i think it was a good watch. it doesnt stay with me as long as BOD did (prob bc i wasnt able to watch all of it as a child) but i think romance-wise, this love story was LEAGUES better than the last one. also i like how it kind of repeats the same moral of the last one, but in a different circumstance that poses new pros and cons.

with BOD, discord was only one person. he was an all-powerful, godly person, but he was still one mind. the changelings in DOD, on the other hand, are an entire nation. this isnt the same "misunderstood outsider" trope that we see with zecora or discord, this is an entire species; one that even themselves believe is physically incapable of loving.

mothball(which is literally the cutest name for a bug-themed character ever) is first in line to lead his species, so you can imagine the expectations and resentment that come with that; he has barely any real support on either side, queen chrysalis being the only adult he can really emotionally rely on. this is what makes his inner conflict so interesting, his empathy constantly at odds with his mother's ideology and his own biological needs.

screwball is also interesting, considering her dad is the lord of chaos and ex-tyrant, and her mom is an element of harmony, kindness incarnate. it's a classic nature/nuture debate kind of plot, but with a twist in that both sides are her nature AND nurture, the only turmulous factor in her life being her environment only percieving the chaotic side; some of it isn’t unfounded either, as she obviously tends to gravitate towards discord more (which is normal, considering most kids tend to have a favorite parent anyway). even if i really dont like the enabling nature of dick cord and how fluttershy is a punching bag again, i find screwball’s concept endearing.

also she and mothball are like, actually adorable. i find it ironic that the canon characters were altered to make an insufferable couple and the basically OCs were the outstanding romance. unlike fluttercord’s REALLY disturbing power dynamic and coercion, screw and moth managed to balance each other out, and (lemme yell it for the ponies in the back) WERE BOTH WILLING TO BE TOGETHER 💥💥💥💥

theres also smth strangely nostalgic about their dynamic. screwball has been the outcast her entire life, her lineage and connection to discord subjecting her to a lot of emotional turmoil. the only reason she has a group of friends is because of her mom’s rank and social circle as well, i dont think she’s had very much room for change or fantasy when her parents were trying to heal the damage the circumstance of their meeting caused for equestria. falling in love with the prince of an enemy nation is cliche and basically copied off of the lion king 2, but i love it in that sense because its probably one of her first instances of living through what seems to be a fairytale. it’s a kind of yearn for teenage rebellion and unpredictability that she’s had to keep trapped within a swamp in the everfree for most of her life, but even though it brings her so much happiness to be with mothball, it also leads her into great danger that her upbringing didn’t prepare her for. she’s scolded for standing up to her bullies and scrutinized for the nature of her character, so what can she do when faced with her very own romeo & juliet tale while entire nations seethe above them?

oh also i love how they incorporated the changelings’ presences in the story before the mane six are aware of their threat, even calling back to mentioned conflicts in BOD. they really use their shapeshifting powers to the most in this installment, and i think the instance that hit me in the gut most is the romantic isolation of twilight. especially with the context that this series was created specifically for shipping; what an insidious thing to keep her from finding love along with her friends to keep her alone as everyone else creates families. i, as an aromantic person, also feel a form of anxiety knowing most of the important people in my life may drift away in the event of marriage and forming roots while i probably wont. so yeah imagine that but with a newly-immortal princess who actually WANTS a romantic relationship, with people who are revealed to be actively keeping one from her - thats gut wrenching for me to think about.

when it comes to the music, i appreciate the effort they put into making original songs, but i also am just. unable to appreciate them bc the changelings voice filter just diesnt translate well to music at aaaaaaallllll. which is a shame bc it stood out so much that i cant remember anything ABOUT the original music. im prob gonna try to see if theres any normal renditions of the ost after i post this but yeah

he's also the voice of a character i can't tell u about yet! in a super high quality fan translation of an AA game without an english release. kinda love it. the only thing i can tell you is that one time someone asked him to rate papa on a sexy scale and he said like 8/10 or something. big win for the [REDACTED]

Part Ten. Faces

A/N: sorry its late!!!! this feels rushed but i was just too excited to get to some parts!!! also i have had some parts written out for SO long that they dont even feel cute to me anymore so im literally praying to every deity rn that you guys think its cute lmao anyway enjoy!!!!

It had been about a week since Karl's slip up but everything was already more normal than Y/n had expected it to be. Of course, George, Sapnap and Quackity were all very understanding and gave her space while simultaneously reassuring her that she was safe with them. She fully believed it too, she knew she was safe with them and they weren't going to tell anyone her name.

The one unusual thing was now she had a heavy guilt, like someone dropped another sandbag in her stomach, every time Dream texted her. If the others knew, it was only fair that she tell him her name too, right? I mean, it's Dream. Dream! The boy who had quickly slipped his way into her life and, though she wouldn't admit it to Karl or Naomi, her heart.

But how? Does she just come right out and say it or wait until it gets brought up? She hadn't practiced telling anyone her name because she wasn't planning on doing it any time soon. Though, maybe she should have been seeing as she was going to see them all in person in a little over a month.

Regardless of the guilt, Y/n had other things to worry about today; Quackity was coming to visit. Karl had picked him up from the airport and the two of them spent all day catching up and doing who knows what but Y/n still hadn't met him. She was scared. She wasn't scared of Quackity, but scared because it was the first time one of her online friends would be able to put a face to her name and voice.

Y/n shuffled across her living room rug and reached for her phone on the coffee table, looking for some sort of distraction while she waited for them to arrive.

Y/n rolled her eyes but smiled, shaking her head as she threw her phone on the couch. Okay, he's right. It's gonna be fine. It's gonna be great. It's just Quackity. If he said anything rude or annoying or anything she could literally just step on him like a bug.

A sharp knock on the front door of her apartment snapped her back into reality. She shook her limbs of nervousness as she made her way to the door, two familiar voices begging to be acknowledged from the other side.

"Let us iiinnn!! Y/nnn!!!!" Karl whined.

After countless times asking the same question, she finally convinced Karl that she was okay with him using her real name in front of Quackity. He clearly still felt guilty about telling the boys her name, asking her multiple times in different ways whether he should call her Y/n or Bugsy in front of the guest. She finally got it through his head that she didn't mind either way.

"Hold on!" she yelled back. She unlocked the door and swung it open to see Karl and Quackity. "So impatient."

"Holy shit, you are tall! Goddammit, I thought that was a joke!"

Y/n laughed shyly at the greeting, looking at Quackity like he was crazy. "Hello to you too. Tried to warn you, dude."

"Yeah but, damn! You're tall and attractive, what the hell?"

"Dude," she said with a warning in her voice. She thought the flirting on Twitter was funny, but in real life she got embarrassed easier and wasn't a fan. "I'm about to kick you out of my house before I even let you in."

This was weird, meeting Quackity before meeting some of her other friends. She loved Quackity, but she had known George much longer and Sapnap even before that. There was no problem with meeting Quackity, she just had no idea how to act since she felt like she hardly knew him.

"Am I allowed to tell people that you're hot?" he asked as he fell on her couch, Karl following right after.

"Quackity!" Y/n yelled, her face heating up at a compliment. "Seriously?"

Karl cackled and shoved Quackity. "Shut up, Alex! No, you're not allowed!"

"Sorry, is that compliment reserved for Dream?" He cackled at his own joke and Y/n's face heated up even more.

"I seriously will kick you out of my house."

"You wanna be flirty on main but not in real life?" Quackity scoffed.

"I'm not flirty on main, you are!" she laughed. "Seriously, don't."

"Okay, sorry, I'll stop," Quackity promised with a laugh in his words.

The three of them fell into easy conversation, mostly because Karl and Quackity were already comfortable around each other at this point. They eventually decided to go to the mall, just to mess around and do something.

*reminder: covid doesn't exist in this fic bc we only want happy things so ignore their masks :P*

Y/n frowned as she unlocked her front door, staring at her phone. She had been so happy with all the fans freaking out about the meetup so she looked at the trending list, expecting to see a flood of keyboard smashes and happiness, but that's not all she ended up seeing. BUGKARLITY was trending, so she scrolled through the tweets and was upset to see not all of them were positive. In fact, when she typed her name in the search bar, lots of the tweets using her name were rather mean.

A few that stuck in her head called her an attention whore and said that her friends only flirted with her because she paid them too. Who on earth would even do that? Some hurt way more than others but she tried to push them aside. It wasn't like this was the first time she had seen comments like this, but they had only gotten worse since her Minecraft date with Dream. She was worried it was cause more hate for her friends and the last thing she wanted was to be the cause of their own hate.

She typed several different messages to Dream, deleting them all after she reread them. She felt like she had to request the same thing from him in a different way. Maybe because she felt like his words meant more, even if he really was just joking like the rest of them. She decided to call him instead of texting.

"Hi!" he chirped happily from the other end.

"Hi, Dream," she said as her chest filled with something warm at the sound of his voice. "How are you doing?"

"Good," he dragged out the word. "How are you?"

"Okay."

"Just okay? What's up?"

"Um," she started, immediately forgetting the words she decided she'd use. "I just... would you mind, uh, not flirting with me so much on, like, Twitter and streams and stuff like that?"

There was a silence before Dream's frantically apologetic words came through. "Yes, of course, oh my gosh. I'm so sorry. If I had known I was making you uncomfortable, I wouldn't have—"

"Wait, no," she interrupted but he must not have heard.

"—said things like... oh gosh. Bug, I'm really sorry—"

"Dream!" she raised her voice, getting him to stop ranting. "You don't make me uncomfortable."

"Oh. Really?"

"Of course not. I actually think it's really..." Cute? Adorable? Endearing? "funny," she decided.

"Oh. Then why...?"

She sighed heavily and explained what she told the others. "So, yeah. I just don't want you guys getting hate because of me so I figure if you stop then... you know."

"Bug..." he said gently. "I'm really sorry. I promise you that I don't—none of us think those things about you."

"I know."

"No, seriously," he said, clearly not believing her. "You need to understand that I..." he paused. "I mean what I say. Always."

Always? she thought. There's a few things he's said that certainly he didn't really mean... like calling her cute?

"I don't joke around like that unless I want to. I wouldn't say things like I say to you unless I really, really, genuinely considered you a close friend and felt comfortable around you. And I do."

Her heart swelled. "Thanks, Dream. I just... maybe don't do it so much for right now? Online, at least," she clarified, not wanting to deprive herself completely of Dream's flirting.

"Yeah, if that's what you want, of course."

"Well, I don't want you to stop flirting with me but, yeah."

He chuckled. "Oh, you do like when I flirt with you?"

She hummed and changed the subject. "Did I interrupt you doing anything?"

"No," his teasing voice dropped and was back to his regular self. "I'm just editing the video we filmed the other day."

"Oh, the 'Minecraft, but you can't touch the floor'?" she asked.

"Yeah."

"Oh," she said, not meaning to sound disappointed. "I'll let you get back to it—"

"No. I mean, you can stay on the phone. Unless you're busy."

She smiled and put her phone on speaker and set it next to her foot on the floor. "I was just gonna paint. So I can stay."

Before she knew it, almost two hours had passed of them sitting in comfortable silence, occasionally speaking to share something with the other before going back to their tasks. It was comforting knowing she didn’t need to speak constantly and could just hang out with Dream.

Y/n's phone rested on the floor next to her, Dream on speakerphone on the other end, only the sounds of his keyboard clicking letting her know he hadn't fallen asleep or hung up. She wasn't sure when they started doing this, staying on the phone even when they had nothing to talk about, but they had done it a few times before. They had talked on the phone and Discord many times but it was usually always with purpose, not usually this silently-enjoying-each-others-presence nonsense. Who was she kidding calling it nonsense, she enjoyed it an embarrassingly insane amount.

She repositioned so she was laying on her stomach as she finished sketching an image that was in her mind.

"Hey, you still there?" Dream asked softly.

"Yeah. Sorry, am I taking away from your sitting in silence time with George?" she joked.

Dream chuckled lightly. "Nah, you're more fun. I was just seeing if you ditched me for Karl yet."

"Nah, you're more fun," she mimed truthfully. "But I'm very focused on this drawing."

"Can I see it when you're done?"

"Don't expect too much. It looks bad."

"If you don't tell me what it is, I can't know how accurate or inaccurate it is."

"Very true..." she trailed off, holding the canvas further away to examine it all at once. She wanted the sketch to be perfect before she made permanent choices with paint. She enjoyed the serenity they maintained even when talking, voices low and delicate like they were keeping secrets but not quite whispering. "Are you almost done editing your video from the other day?"

"Sorta. I'm at the part where you and Sapnap almost died laughing because a ghast knocked George into lava and then Sapnap laughed so hard he fell into lava."

She chuckled, remembering the situation vividly. "That was so funny. The way George screams is so funny."

"Let Naomi know that," he mumbled, causing Y/n to gasp.

"Dream!" she laughed loudly and he joined.

"Sorry, sorry, sorry. It's true though."

"Disgusting!"

A distant voice sounded on the other end and she assumed it was Sapnap. "What do you want for dinner?"

Dream responded with a soft, "Nothing, I'm good."

"Are you talking to Bugsy?"

He must have responded physically because the next sound was Sapnap's very clear, much more lively voice speaking directly into the phone. "Hi, Bugsy!"

"Hi, Sapnap!"

"Can you tell Dream to eat some damn food? This man literally hasn't eaten a single thing all goddamn day."

"Dream," Y/n scolded slowly. "Please eat."

"I'm not hungry."

"I'm not showing you my painting until you eat."

A door closed on the other end and she took that as a sign that Sapnap had left.

"I don't wanna see it anyway. It's probably trash."

"Take that back!" she gasped lightly. She looked at the canvas as she grabbed the first paint color and laughed. It was only a sketch and it was already trash. "Fine, then I won't go on the trip if you don't eat in the next ten minutes."

"That's punishing yourself too though."

"Who says I want to see you?" she asked.

"I never said anything about not seeing me being the punishment."

She had been caught. "It was implied."

"Sure it was."

"It's true though. Who says I wanna see your stupid face?"

He didn't say anything, but an incoming FaceTime call lit up Y/n's phone. A FaceTime call from him.

Her smile dropped. "Clay?"

"Answer it," his voice was lower and her heart started beating faster. Was he really about to show her his face to prove a point? Reveal his biggest secret that only a few close friends knew? To her of all people? She made sure she couldn't be seen in the small window and pressed accept, the voice call ending and the FaceTime call starting.

To her surprise, what came into view wasn't his face, but the logo of the hoodie he was wearing, the simple smile of his merch taunting her. She laughed, the anxiety slowly fading away as it was replaced with a heavy feeling in her stomach. Was she disappointed? Maybe a little, but he teased her into believing she would see him.

"Oh, wow! Dream face reveal! He looks just like his icon, no way!!!"

His chest moved up and down as he laughed, not moving the camera away. "You heard it here first, guys! You've known my face all along, the logo is actually my face!"

She laughed and returned to painting, not paying any more attention to her phone since he was now also showing his ceiling, a small corner of his monitor in frame but nothing else. "I mean it though, if you don't eat, I'm going to be so mad I won't even want to be friends anymore. Or you'll die from malnourishment before we get the chance to meet."

"I doubt it. I'm just not hungry."

"Whatever."

"Oh, hey, so you met Quackity today. How was it?"

"Very scary."

"Yeah?" he asked sympathetically, urging her to explain if she wanted.

"Yeah. But it turned out okay! He didn't act any different so it was fine. It was mostly just awkward. He's also so freaking loud. You would not believe how much louder he and Karl get when they're together."

"I can imagine. Aren't they doing a stream right now or something?"

"Yeah, I think so. I don't wanna watch though, I've had enough of them for the month."

Dream laughed. "How will you deal with them together for New Years'? It'll be for like two weeks."

"Who knows if I'll actually go?"

"Wait, what?" he asked abruptly, not even bothering to hide the disappointment in his voice. His keyboard stopped clicking and she could picture him staring at his phone as if looking at her. "Of course you're going."

"Not if you don't eat food! You have, like, 3 minutes to eat something until I officially am busy doing other things whenever the trip is."

Dream groaned and clicked a few things on his computer before the image on the screen became blurry as he walked through the house, still pointing it at the ceiling. She looked away again and kept painting.

"Quackity's really funny though," she continued. "It was super awkward at first but it was fun to have someone else to help me make fun of Karl."

"Wait, Bug," Dream called out over the sound of wrappers crinkling.

"Hm?" She hummed, continuing to paint.

"Bug," his voice was much softer and he sounded nervous.

She looked at her screen and dropped the paintbrush as she focused on what she saw, grabbing her phone and holding it closer to her face so she could see, still making sure she wasn't in view. All the anxiety from the beginning of the FaceTime suddenly came back and hit her like a truck. Sitting on her screen, waiting to be seen, was Dream. His hood was up, tufts of blonde hair sticking out, and he was standing with his back towards a dark room, the dim light from his pantry making his face just visible.

He held up a cookie in front of his actual, real face. "Are you watching?"

"Y-yea... I... Yeah. I'm watching. Is that really you?"

He nodded once before shoving the cookie in his mouth. "There, I consumed food," he announced, his voice muffled by the cookie. "Now you're legally obligated to come."

"I—What? CLAY! WHAT?"

"What?" he asked innocently as he chewed, walking back to his room and still holding the phone up to show his face. His room light was on, making his face much more visible. If Y/n thought he was attractive in the harsh pantry light, he must have looked like a god in his room lighting, even as pixelated as he was due to the quality of FaceTime. He fell on his bed and Y/n could only gape at his features. He slumped against his headboard, surrounded by roughly a thousand pillows, sporting a small, shy smile as he stared at the screen. "Bug, what?"

She opened her mouth but no words came out. Needless to say, he was unbelievably handsome. Part of the speechlessness was from the shock that he showed his face out of the blue, but obviously, the majority of it was that he was pretty much the most attractive person she'd ever seen. It should be illegal for someone to look that good in a hoodie, especially when pixelated.

"Hmm," he hummed thoughtfully. "Wanna take back what you said earlier?" He bit into another cookie.

"W-what did I say earlier?" Why was she stuttering???

"You said you don't wanna see me and that I'm ugly," he teased.

She paused for too many seconds too long before finally muttering, "you arrogant son of a bitch." He laughed loudly at that.

His eyes crinkled and he threw his head back. So that's what he looks like when he wheezes, she thought to herself, pretty.

Dream shuffled his position on his bed and rested his head on one of his hands. He looked so comfy. "Why are you so quiet, weirdo?" he mumbled.

She set her phone back down and touched her cheeks with her hands and looked away for a moment, grounding herself to the real world for a second. She couldn't process her thoughts when she was staring at a man as gorgeous as Clay. "I don't know, maybe because you gave me no warning before showing me your face? Or because you failed to mention that you're incredibly hot?"

She was so glad she had looked back at her phone or else she would have missed the glorious sight of his cheeks turning bright red before he turned the camera back to his ceiling. "Oh my gosh."

"Aw cute, I made you blush."

"Shut up," he mumbled. "You threatened to not come if I didn't eat something!"

"You didn't have to—you showed me your freaking face just to prove you ate a cookie!! DREAM! I would have believed you if you just said you ate something!" she laughed breathlessly, staring at the phone now for a chance to see him again. "I was joking anyway!"

"Sure you were."

"I was."

"Well, oh well. You deserved to see me anyway."

"Oh, I deserve to see you?" She laughed. "How big is your ego?"

"You know what I meant," he groaned. "You got doxxed by Karl and you met Quackity in person. And you've clearly had a bad day because of all the hate and stuff. You've done a lot of stressful things recently and you deserved to be let in on a secret too."

He was so sweet. Like, tooth-rotting, Halloween candy stash hidden under a kid's bed, upset tummy sweet. She also couldn't get over the fact that he was a million times cuter when he was shy like he was being now, his voice soft and unsure. It contrasted vastly with the confident, loud-mouthed Dream everyone usually saw, though she liked that Dream too. She wished he could show his face for just one more second to see what he looked like shy. Probably sickeningly adorable.

This was it, wasn't it? The chance she had been waiting for to tell him her name? He just let her in on his biggest secret, now he was the one deserving to be let in.

"Y/n," she said with a confident, but soft voice.

There was a long pause. "W-what?"

"Y/n."

He understood the second time immediately. "Y/n..." he tested, the smile in his voice clear as day. "I like it."

"Yeah, well, I guess you deserved to know the secret too."

"I would have been content never knowing."

"Really?" She didn't believe him. He seemed like the type to never be satisfied, always looking for something better. Not in a greedy way, but in a motivational, goal-oriented big achiever way.

"Really," he hummed. "I already feel like you're too good to be true so I wouldn't be surprised if you weren't a real person."

It was silent as she tried to collect her thoughts.

"Bug? You okay?"

"Yeah, I... it's just a lot."

"Sorry."

"No, it's not you. Well... I don't know. I just don't know what I'm supposed to say when you say things like that," she admitted.

He paused. "I think you always have the perfect responses when I say things like that."

"What do I usually say?" She smiled shyly, pulling her hoodie up to her lips.

"You usually call me a nerd or say you can't stand me. 'Oh my gosh I cannot stand you'," he mimicked before laughing.

"What? How is that the perfect response to you saying you can't believe I'm real?"

He hummed and she could practically hear him shrugging. "Because it's a classic Bug response. It's a hundred perfect you. So yeah, it's perfect."

She was silent, trying to compose herself before she exploded.

"By the way, check Twitter."

"Why, are you bragging about me calling you hot?" she teased, hoping to make him blush like she had earlier. It worked.

"Oh my gosh, no. Just look."

She clicked her home button and navigated to the app, her feed instantly flooding with the same similar messages.

"Oh, my gosh," she muttered, her fingers flying away as she typed out her own tweet in response to the love.

Dream chuckled from the other end and when she asked him why, he vaguely said that George texted him but didn't explain further.

"Um, I have to go," she said mournfully. "Karl and Quackity are coming over again."

"Booooo," he pouted.

"Sorry, you aren't the only man in my life," she teased before instantly regretting her choice of words. Too flirty, Y/n, she thought to herself.

"Hm, shame. Am I at least at the top of the list?"

She bit her lips, wanting desperately to repeat what she had told him on their Minecraft date. In the end, she gave in. "I always mean what I say too," she started. "You're my main bitch, baby."

Dream made some sort of sound, a mix of a scoff and a whine but Y/n didn't comment on it, just glowing with heat in her cheeks.

"Leave before I don't let you," he said softly and the heat only grew.

"Goodnight, Dream," she pressed, the tone in her voice letting him know he was being a tease. "Thanks for... thanks for your tweet. And for everything you said earlier."

"Of course. Sorry that you have to see those kinds of things a lot."

"It's okay when I have people like you."

"People like me? What does that mean?"

"Just.... people like you." Cute, sweet, kind, genuine people who make her heart flutter.

She could hear his smile in his words and she figured he knew the unspoken words in her thoughts, the ones she was saying without saying. "Okay. Goodnight, Y/n."

"Goodnight."

they had george compare his height to a door frame and dreamnap were googling for any doorframes to find any possible chance that george is taller than 5′8″ ... nothing came up

dream isn’t entirely sure that the dream team meet up will happen this year but he’s working out the details because he wants to make sure it’s safe

he asked callahan to send him bunch of text files that are dream team related so that the splash can rotate through it but callahan thought it was funny (it is) to put only dreamnotfound <3 so it doesn’t ever change at all and dream doesn’t even know how to change and he has asked callahan to change it but he said no (even though dream pays him LMAO)

the video referenced in the padilla’s video is still in the works, it might be handed over to sapnap though !

he has no idea if he will be in MCC pride yet

padilla got dream’s input for the video, dream found him to be a very nice guy ! :) it’s the first interview that dream did that wasn’t by a person with a negative opinion of dream

the inside joke of “oh it’s all just a joke to you” originates from george and sapnap actually always fighting (like them yelling and shouting at each other) and george said something really mean and sapnap was hurt then geroge said “it was just a joke” and sapnap replied with that line and ever since then it’s been a meme LOL

The collector

~A/n~ I am part of a few discord groups and in one of them we have a chat where we can send soft thoughts and the past few days I've been sending some thoughts to help people cheer up, I changed none of the messages and just copied and pasted. A few say “i” but most are in x reader format, anyway so here’s some little blurbs for some minecraft men, platonic and implied romance alike and it all started with me texting

“I'm feeling really really soft rn. I just want sapnap and i to drive out to the middle of nowhere so we can sit out in the back of the car and look up at the stars. Just wanna sit under the moonlight wrapped up in his arms :)”

Awesamdude:

Oh Sammywammy. Sam is precious. when he told you about how he was going to be the 5th hunter for manhunt you were so excited for him. Of course he dragged you into streaming room and opened his laptop to a Playlist of dreams manhunts. Both of you watched all of them trying to figure out what Dream might do and what he should be prepared for. Of course he asked if you could come sit with him when they did the manhunt but what you didn't realize is he literally wanted you on his lap during the manhunt. While he played with them every once in a while he would lean down and press a kiss on your head, nose, neck, anywhere he could reach. Every time he died he would look down at you with eyes full of love and give you a compliment. Tell you how amazing you are. If he was smelting he would cup your cheek so that he could kiss your forehead or run his fingers through your hair. And even though this manhunt was super big this wasn't the only time he had done this. Sometimes Sam would come in while you were playing games and have you sit on his lap and explain what was happening. He might not understand why you have a cow named daisy or why you decided to play a horror game at 2am. But that didn't mean he wanted to be there any less. Sometimes he would bring you snacks while you streamed or were working on something even going as far as to drive out an hour away from your home just to get your favorite food/snack. And while you laid down to sleep some nights he would tell you why he loves everything about you. These eyes right here? Are so beautiful and sparkle like little stars. These hands? Give the gentlest touch and make the loveliest minecraft houses. These lips? Taste like honey and say the cutest things. Sam never stops showing you how much he appreciates you and would go so far just to prove his love

Punz:

Punz trying to teach you how to play valorant. maybe you don't play video games as much or at least not super competitive ones. When viewers see he's streaming they are surprised to see a littler pair of hands on the keyboard. Punz is desperately trying to show you what buttons to click. It's not going your way and you end up hitting your fist on the desk and yelling "you dumb bitch" at the computer. Punz is shocked but just chuckles and grabs your fist. He brings it up to his lips and leaves gentle kisses on it to help you calm down. "Maybe minecraft would be better cupcake, hmm?" He switches over to minecraft and he helps you build a mushroom house. Well sort of. He proceeds to tell you that your world should have lore and it should be Canon that he has a gaming room. You roll your eyes but do build him a little desk with a fake monitor. He didn't expect you to actually build it. But then you go the room and say it's a Canon that your beds are next to each other. He just chuckles and says "okay cupcake" and just proceeds to stare at you with total adoration as you explain the concept of a cute little mushroom cottage with a flower field next to it

Karl and Quackity:

Okay but like have you ever thought about trying to paint with quackity and Karl? Maybe you've got a wall in your house that needs repainting and while the boys are together they decide to help and so you let them. Well while you're painting you see something fly out if the corner of you're eye so you turn to Quackity who looks suspiciously innocent. You hear Karl start to sing a song so you join them. And after a while you glance over at them to see how they are doing. Surprisingly both boys have random splatters of paint on them. They both shrug and it isn't until you back up and get hit with paint yourself that you realize the two has been flicking paint this entire time at each other behind your back. It's irritating but funny because you stick your hand in some paint and get some on them. Eventually you three go out to the backyard where you grab a hose and start spraying them down and quackity is just fake crying and screaming. Because you start chasing him because him and Karl decided that they didn't want to be sprayed with water. It isn't long before the hose is somehow turned on you and it turns into a water fight. The wall never got done and now all three of you are soaking wet and still have paint on you. You of course wonder why you invited them over to help in the first place. But it didn't really matter cause it was still a lot of fun.

Ranboo:

Now imagine being like the devil on Ranboo's shoulder. We all know how he almost put spaghetti in the bowl of cereal. Imagine being there trying to get him to do it. "But noodles and milk? Come on bestie. Like. It could be one of those weird food combos," and you just can see that he's looking at you weird through those sunglasses. Which he should have expected this. You were always trying to get him to do dumb shit. And he always listens. If he hadn't planned on possibly eating the bowl of cereal after recording he would have done it. But also it was wasting a bowl of precious minecraft cereal. Of course after you guys get done recording you decide to head to a target or Walmart of sort and he sits in the kart while you run around the store driving him. It isn't until you pass the toy isle he sees lightsabers and jumps out. Ranboo tosses one to you and jumps back into the kart "I have the high ground now," he says. And even though you may or may not know anything about star wars you grab the weapon and start having a battle in the middle of the toy section. One of them end up breaking so you buy it but at least you get to say it was a passionate duel.

Tommy, Tubbo, and Wilbur:

I wanna go hang with Wilbur and the gang. I want to try and play music on a guitar and have Wilbur show me how all while Tommy is making faces behind his back. Eventually all I'll know how to play is the wii shop sound but it doesn't matter as Wilbur is now chasing Tommy to strangle him. We'll all go decide to wall around while we wait for Tubbo and eventually as we are walking me and Tommy decide to ditch Wilbur for a few. I get on Tommy's back and he bolts for it. Wilbur screaming at us from behind. We duck into a shop candy/coffee/ice cream doesn't matter. And as Wilbur passes by we pretend to be other people. Eventually we feel a little bad and go seek put Wilbur who gave up and was reading a magazine or some sort of thin paper thing. We would never know because he immediately rolls it up and starts hitting us on the head with it. Tubbo finally comes and we go find an arcade of sorts to go hang out it. Wilbur sees this funny looking giraffe or maybe a bear and says it looks like Tommy who screams "what? Me?!" And they start fighting again. Me and tubbo ignore them because there is a huge bee and we want that one. Somehow the day ends with minimal brain damage and we end up getting the bee

The feral boys:

(for a tiny bit of context i am terrified of open water) I wanna go to the beach with them. But go out on a boat to a little bit of deeper water. I'll be a little scared but I'll be okay with my boys there. Quackity and I will get into an argument and I'll push him out of the boat. Well while I'm laughing with Karl, Quackity reaches into the boat to grab my ankle and yank me back into the water. Sapnap and Dream are wheezing while Karl is making sure I'm okay. George wouldn't have been paying attention and is busy asking dream what demonic noises are leaving him. Quackity will feel a little bad until I splash ocean water in his mouth and then we will start a water battle. Karl and Dream will jump in. Karl helping me with Dream helping Quackity. Sapnap takes no sides and decides to cannonball I'm the middle of everyone and get everyone wet. After we are done and back on the beach George and I will build the best castle. One to rival any that could he built on the smp and I'll remind him that he's still king in my heart. Dream would probably accidentally step on it but that's okay. Eventually the sun will set and Dream will sigh and say he was glad we drove a few hours to get here. Then Quackity, Karl, and Sapnap will glance at each other before starting to make fun of dreams song "drove 20 hours,"

Dream and Sapnap:

Well I'd love to get into a flour war. I wanna be in the kitchen making something with Dream sitting on his phone nearby and I want him to say something like he usually would So i can throw flour at him. He'll flinch surprised but then throw down his phone so he can try and grab me to tickle me as revenge then while I'm running away Sapnap would come to the kitchen wondering why there is so much screaming and giggling and he finds me standing on the counter pressed up against the cabinets as Dream closes in. Sapnap goes to leave but I throw some at him too so then he goes "is that a challenge princess?" And then with Dream distracted I'll try and get away. But eventually I'm caught between the two of them who get flour all over me cause it was on them.

omg guys I got logged out of this acc and lowkey forgot. life update time?

ok so I don't remember when I got logged out but I started college in september! then I got a boyfriend! then I dumped that boyfriend 5 months later!

I also was put in forced recovery which, was like, super fun (note sarcasm) and started therapy (court mandated, long story)

I also may have committed a crime. and like went to jail for a bit. but it's fine I'm chill no one died I just got kicked out of college. haha.

while in therapy they put me on antidepressants (bleck). had a bad reaction to lexapro, zoloft, and cymbalta and now I'm taking prozac, making me feel bleck

I got banned on discord also so that's why my server might not be up idk if I told u guys that

I have no fucking clue what my weight is and I've been eating every day because I'm being literally watched and I no longer have a bathroom or bedroom door!

I'm in community college rn bc if I get a job I'll off myself and my parents said I have to be doing something (fair enough but AHHGH). anyways it feels like fucking highschool again and I'm honestly kinda mad cuz I'm taking this stupid jewelry class and the teach has been gone since the start of said class.

also! I might have cancer? lol! I haven't been able to go to school in person for a month because I have incredibly low energy. they're doing lots and lots and lots (and lots) of tests and they said it could be cancer or something wrong w my thyroid and a lot of other words I didn't listen to. they also yelled at me for not taking vitamins.

I also got absolutely emotionally obliterated by a guy I never even kissed and he lowkey manipulated the fuck out of me

You were on your way to the water fountain to refill the water bottles for the boys practicing in the third gym. You were Fukurōdani’s manager after all, it was part of your job. Sadly, the nearest water fountain was outside the gym, attached to the wall. You made it to the fountain and started to fill up each water bottle, one by one. When you were finished with two bottles, your phone buzzed in your pocket. You decided to take an intermission from the bottle filling and see who texted you.

When you pulled out your phone, you unlocked it to see a few short heartbreaking messages sent from your boyfriend. Or, maybe you should say your ex-boyfriend. You got three very short sentences saying:

In a state of shock, you couldn’t even believe that it was true. You texted, “This a joke… right?”

He replied with, “I’m sorry, but I’m serious. I’m blocking you.”

You texted back, but got no reply. He really did block you and he really did break up with you. You leave him alone for one week to attend training camp and this happens? You dropped the bottles you were holding on the floor. The cluck they made when the dropped echoed throughout the night. You too, dropped to the floor, sitting on the cold cement with your back against the wall. All you did was stare at your phone and the same two messages: “I’m sorry but I’ve been falling for someone else.” “I’m breaking up with you.”

Tears formed in the wells of your eyes. You tried with all your might to hold them back, but the tears flowed down your cheeks. You started to sobbing, bringing your knees to your chest. You dropped your phone on the floor, cupped your face, and buried your face and hands in your knees. You stayed like that, weeping into your hands, heart shattered into pieces that couldn’t fit back together.

Minute by minute time passed by. You stayed seated in the same place, not knowing how long you were there. Time seemed to be irrelevant. You were still sobbing when you heard a familiar voice call out for you.

“Y/n? Are you here?” Akaashi called out, searching for you.

“Leave.” You muffled out between sniffles. It was dark out, so Akaashi used your voice to help guide himself to you.

“Y/n? Why are you on the floor?” he asked, puzzled.

“Why, do you think?” You looked up to him, meeting each other’s gaze. He saw the puffiness in your eyes and the red that took over the white part of your eyes.

“I’ll be right back.” he said, leaving.

“You're leaving me too? What the hell?” you shouted after him. A storm of guilt spiraled in your core, but you couldn’t help your actions. You were in a vulnerable state and spat out whatever your heart felt, without taking into consideration the things you were saying.

Around five minutes after Akaashi left you, he returned with others by his side.

“Hi Y/n!” Bokuto yelled, running towards you. Akaashi told me I had to help cheer you up!” You buried your face in your knees once again, not wanting anyone to see you in your current state. Tsukishima was the second one to approach you. He took one of the filled water bottles you had laying next to you, unscrewed the top, and threw the water at you.

“Bitch!” you screamed, raising your head off your lap.

“You're an ugly crier.” Tsukishima scoffed.

“Be nice to her!” Kuroo reprimanded Tsuki.

“Y/n, why are you sad?” Bokuto had a frown plastered across his face. “You’re making me sad.” he said, running to hide behind Akaashi.

“No, Bokuto, don’t be sad. You're making me feel worse.” you weeped.

“Ugh, all you guys are assholes.” Kuroo scoffed. “What’s wrong Y/n?” Kuroo asked, kneeling down to meet your eye level.

“Well, I got his text from-” You were suddenly cut off.

“Hey guys, “ Lev greeted, walking up to you guys.

“LEV YOU INTERRUPTED SOMETHING IMPORTANT.” Kuroo scolded.

“Oh sorry what’s going on.” He was standing with the group of boys surrounding you. He looked down and saw your red, puffy face. “Y/n, what’s wrong?”

“Like I was saying before I got interrupted-”

“I heard screaming and yelling. What’s going on?” Hinata asked, approaching the group. He looked down, seeing you crying and sitting on the floor. “Y/n are you okay?” he asked, concerned.

“Like I’ve been trying to say, I got a text from my boyfriend, or I guess I should call him my ex-boyfriend now. Pretty much he dumped me over text.” You managed to mumble out between sobs. After you said that, your crying intensified.

“Do you need me to step on him?” Lev questioned. After he said that, you let out a slight giggle. Hinata came down and sat next to you. He wrapped you in a large, comforting hug. You didn’t return the gesture, you couldn’t. All you did was cry in his shoulder.

“He’s not worth your time Y/n.” Akashi said, trying to comfort you. After Akaashi said that, Bokuto walked up to you and slapped your face.

“What the hell?” you screamed, taking a momentary pause from crying.

“See, you stopped crying.” “Bro, that was so smart.” Kuroo complimented Bokuto. You grabbed two of the water bottles laying next to you and you threw them at Bokuto and Kuroo.

“Ugh I hate all of you.”

“But I didn’t do anything.” Akaashi said.

“Fine. I hate all of you except Akaashi.”

“What about me?” Hinata pouted.

“Of course I didn’t mean you.” You lifted your head from the ginger’s shoulder and hugged him back.

“If I’m not appreciated, then I’m leaving.” Tsuki said, turning around, about to leave.

“You’re not going anywhere.” Kuroo grabbed the back of Tsuki’s collar, preventing him from going anywhere.

“Kuroo, stop being so kinky.” Lev mocked.

“He’s like a horny tornado!” Hinata mumbled while his head was resting on your shoulder.

“You know what that means?” you asked, shocked.

“Yeah, I’m not dumb.” Hinata replied.

“But you’re baby.” you sighed.

“I thought I was baby?” Lev asked.

“You’re too tall to be baby.” you answered.

“I hate it here.” Lev sighed.

“So do I,” Tsuki remarked. There wasn’t a hint of sarcasm present in his voice.

“Lev! Stop running away from your receiving drills!” Yaku yelled, catching up to the mob of boys surrounding you. He proceeded to kick Lev’s ass, literally. He was telling Lev off, when all of a sudden, he turned and saw you. He was quick to comfort you and asked, “Y/n? What’s wrong.”

“Stop being such a two faced bitch.” Lev scoffed.

“What did you call me?” Yaku screamed.

“Both of you need to shut the fuck up, Y/n’s still crying.” Kuroo rolled his eyes.

“Don’t worry, you don’t need that boy.” Hinata said as you were playing with his hair. He didn’t mind whenever you played with his ginger hair, so you normally did it when you teased him. This time, it was more comforting than playful.

“Fuck all of you, Hinata is the only nice one.”

“Hey, I’ve kinda helped right?” Kuroo queried.

You stopped playing with Hinata’s hair. “Come on, let's go somewhere where I can cry in peace.” you told Hinata. You both got up and started walking away. Before you went too far you turned over and said “Akaashi, you can come too.” You and Hinata waited for him to catch up to you guys. They popped a few jokes, helping you laugh and you three walked off in the distance.

I hope your not feeling down on your writing skills because I haven't caught up and commented on your latest releases. It's not you it's that I pick too many fanfics to follow and they all update a lot and I've been so busy and I've fallen behind on so many fics from various authors and sometimes my depression just makes me want to lie in bed all day doing nothing and it doesn't help I have to spend my limited spoons helping family everyday. I know these aren't good excuses, but I do sympathize with the lack of energy feeling at least. But your work really does bring a lot of joy to my life. It's so fun keeping up with your various AUs, and your latest one that features Kaya as Spider King has me really hyped because I want to learn more about Kaya, she's so fun! And Ruclipse is such a good comfort ship that just hits all the things I like seeing in a ship. You're so amazing and creative and it's awful that anyone would try to make you feel otherwise! Like your newest OC, Justin Tyme seems like such a lovable dumbass bastard. I love his wild, curly hair and his dapper outfit. I can't wait to see what dumb shit he gets himself into! I know this is really long and rambly, but I hope you know you have fans who genuinely love your work. I don't know if you're still thinking about that one comment you mentioned that got you really down, but honestly, fuck that guy. I don't know what they said but it must have been pure BS to have you doubting your hard earned art skills. I wish I could do more to prove you're awesome and that your fans really admire you, I just hope you don't stop sharing what you love because some rando was nasty for no good reason. Because we love what you do!

it's just a general thing over all lately like. I mentioned this in dm's with a friend but overall past few months I've had lower engagement overall with my works and it really does a number on my confidence. More so because like your latter point.

yes, I am still very much thinking about that one negative comment. Because that person also has the need to comment on other things and I even had a thing asking why I took a few weeks to update (when reality I posted to another ongoing fic and my TLC chapters are long chapters) and just the fact they could tear into a character (yes it was a comment on a character specifically and not even a main character it's a side character who has an important role for Snatcher's growth as a person down the line) then go saying "why didn't you update" when I posted a double update that week---

Like it lives in my head rent free and I want to literally cry because like the character is a focal in an upcoming chapter and I can't deal with another "why are they back" type thing. because "everyone finds them annoying"

And I'll be honest. it was Kaya. Like I've been trying to have fun with my BCU stuff with her as Spiderking because it's engaging for me and me and @/doodleimprovement even came up with a b-plot involving Kaya and Hattie trying to hook Nell and Marcus together and it's one of the best things as well as Kaya and Nell having a really good relationship.

but because of that one comment it makes me hesitant to do anything with Kaya despite she's one of my oldest ocs, my most thought out ocs and I adore her beyond anything. Like yes she's over powered and such and in TLC rn she comes off as a know it all, but upcoming chapters will show she's just a spacey kid who's trying to fit into a role others decided for her and isn't really as all mighty as she seems. Snatcher even ends up thinking of her as a little sister more than anything. Like fuck I'm even hesitant to share anything on her actual story despite how much work is in it. Like she's my favorite Oc (that's why shes my discord icon, and I'm pretty sure she's my twitter icon as well)

Which is another thing I just get iffy on. I love RuClipse and everything with it. I love writing and drawing the dorks. But I'm now so afraid if Kaya could be attacked for only showing in a handful of chapters that don't even touch on who she is, when is someone going to finally tell me off on my wolf? who's going to tear into a character I pour a lot of personal shit into to try and comfort myself?

I use Ruclipse to deal with my own romantic heart, they are what I wish I could have so I love to write them, I hurt them but i like to make them happy in the end. Someone who can deal with your highs and lows. No ones perfect but you can still figure it out and love even the negative parts (I am a heavy romantic OTL)

he is in fact a lovable bastard. i have fun plans and he gives me an excuse for why Cel is so tired and having to be the brain cell and how she even wound up working with the time kids when she's so much older than they are. Currently I'm trying to think of how to use him and honestly I think he's gonna wind up hella comic relief fun guy who's just making a mess and do his own side story while Hat and Bow are busy in subcon----

thank you, I don't mind the rambly it kinda gave me a chance to get this off my chest... like I've typed this kinda response up time and time again and I always delete. I feel like I'm whining because I get upset but it's just, I spend so much time making things, I use all my spoons on either working or creating, I just want to know if it means anything but then negativity lives in my head because what's a functioning meat cube??? I try to stay positive but it's hard. Like another thing is Moon Guardian; the reason I haven't updated? because I have had someone bothering me about it. weekly I get asked about how I'm doing on it but it's not from a place of "want to read it" it's because I told them they couldn't post a certain thing until the chapter is done so it feels pressuring to constantly get asked because I feel the only reason they want to post is to boost their thing and I'm just the machine to boost it with my characters and comic.... like it feels they've taken the comic from me and it sucks because I have so many fun things planned. Like I accidentally went off on Nina about a thing with Alpine skyline and Eclipse as well as a thing with a Time Rift and a Jelly ghost.

Sorry kinda went off, just I've sat on this thought train since like early april. I've done my best to ignore it and just keep going but it's gotten really hard with the fact my health hasn't been really great. I've spent a lot of time lately bed bound because I just hurt so badly. if I'm not resting, I'm at my day job which is incredibly stressful rn as I only really work mornings and I see things that are being missed so then i report it and it still gets missed and i can't get it fixed after a point cuz we're back to full service and need the people so I can't nitpick but just.... I'm bitter okay like if I left this shit when I worked I would have gotten yelled at but now we just let it slide??? and this stresses me out which then causes my body to freak out because I'm stressed which puts me in more pain. and then like at work have people acting shocked I have my cane or soemthing and just skfdslkfksdf

so my energy is so tanked. and then the negative comment in my head, no idea if people like things cuz I have no idea if I hear nothing, just has had me doubting why post. Like I should go back to just not posting my stories and sketches or w/e and slink back to my hole like I was before.

idk Its just. a bad night in the house of bun. I've had these thoughts festering and I guess today was the dam breaking. It's probs cuz I'm nervous posting Chimeras because it's a very dark au.

🤧: okay I didn’t expect to respond this quickly but then I saw that you said you watched Penthouse 2 and when I tell you I almost yelled because SO DO I !

Can we talk about that last episode tho?! Oh Yoonhui ? Seokhoon and Rona acting like a married couple with him holding her hand during the briefing and consulting the doctor ?! Suyreon reuniting with the twins — which I got near tears ngl ?! Joo Dantae finally getting what he deserved ?! I am so excited do the season finale but also sad because s3 is not until June and only ONE EPISODE A WEEK how am I gonna live 😪😪😪

I started watching the show mainly because of Seokhoon and Rona (seokrona nation is where its at) so you can imagined how devastated I was when she was almost k worded by Joo Dantae. Rona was one of my favorite characters too I’m glad she’s back. I saw in the preview tho Seokyung might warm up to Rona so I’m hoping for a best friend development in s3.

I was watching funny tiktoks of the show and I couldn’t share it with anyone because the one friend that watches the show with me is way back on s1. We should lowkey make a Penthouse group chat on tumblr or discord while waiting for s3 just so I can send people videos who are caught up with the show like me 😂

also s3 is only one episode a week?? Scarabia chapter is over and I’m screaming at everything rn hold on-

(sorry if I’m stuffing this rant down anyone’s throat, because I’m realizing people get annoyed with it and I’m sorry but,, scarabia brainrot ;;;...)

(spoilers for chapter 4 under the cut!)

Sad there’s no magic carpet :,( but oasis maker saves the day!! Still mysterious as ever as to why oasis maker is called a blessing other than um. Being a blessing to the Country of Hot Sands. But yes Azul enjoys it! (if you wanna hear me rant about oasis maker pwease dm cause I,, now have some thoughts and I can’t keep my mouth shut ;;...)

Also no mention of kidnapping happenings or poisoning in post-OB backstory but that means slow burn character development for Kalim possibly later on, so I’ll take it

Also Kalim’s guilt kills me on the inside :,,( guy says that he has anemia, but I’m wondering if that’s acc just Jamil giving him an excuse for his hypnosis. Mainly cause he himself says that he’s not bad at PE, which he really would be bad at PE if he really did have anemia,, but the anemia could explain a lot other things, other than that little tidbit,, either way, that means, again, slow burn character development! (But just,, his voice wavers, and how he says that Jamil can have the dorm leader position and Kalim will just go home is just,, Jamil you couldn’t talk to Kalim at all about this? Really?)

And scarabia duo is still killing me on the inside :,,,( Jamil wanted revenge cause of how he had to be below Kalim all the time and couldn’t objectify his hate to anyone but Kalim, but he also couldn’t sincerely hate Kalim for everything he is esp. when he’s the one who’s been encouraging him at all, all their time together. Jamil also loves his family apparently but in the way that he doesn’t like what they make him do but he also realizes that his parents are in the same position as him (hence why he screams, in his fit of anger, how he’s gonna free both him and his family). The only other person I can see that he personally hates but has to deal with is Crowley. I literally just see Jamil as a stubborn, kind of selfish tsundere,, Do I like Jamil more than I did before? I mean a lot of what I personally thought about him (not standing out so that Kalim is above him, having to adhere to tradition and such) was basically confirmed with the recent chapter.

But coming personally on my thoughts on Jamil cause he’s a contradictory character rn in the discord,, he is really really easy to sympathize and relate with, esp if you compare him to the less-realistic-outlook-on-life Kalim from Scarabia. And Kalim’s banquet fevers aren’t easy to deal with. My younger brother who gets more credit than me in,, literally everything drags me to play around on electronics sometimes and usually I just wanna sleep, but I can’t and usually just l just give up when playing with him cause I should look like he’s winning (fun thing is that he’s 2 1/2 years younger than me, and also a lot taller than me). I have to let him throw punches at me and when I do one little thing like tell him to stop, it’s into the dark room with me. So I can appreciate Jamil’s stubbornness for his plans and ideals to overthrow Kalim, esp cause I was more or less conditioned to be helpful to other people. Not that I’m complaining because beig helpful to others is something that I’ve noticed rewards you in a good way,,

With all that being said,, the way he acted and went about with this crossed a lot of lines. At first, I thought the reason why he would hypnotize Kalim so that Jamil could become dorm leader + the other stuff mentioned above is so that Kalim can be seen as having a personality/morale worse than him. Or at least, less cheerful. But then Jamil goes in and with Kalim’s happy personality, cheers up everyone and helps them wth their troubles while in the oasis. And I’m here and I’m just,, if you hate him for that personality so much why do something like that?? (He can’t admit that’s what people acc like about Kalim, and he decides to take one of his few positive qualities that gets people attached to Kalim and just,, wreck it. I was,, very very mad, but I didn’t rant about it cause I knew I’d yell unreasonably in the discord chat.) Revealed at the end, Jamil literally doesn’t want to be friends with anyone and I’m just,, sigh. And also,, the students only agreed with Jamil that Kalim was an incompetent dorm leader after Jamil hypnotized Kalim into doing all those things, not before. Before? They acc loved Kalim because of how kind and gentle and thoughtful he was to others, even though he can be kind of hopeless and random and a bit irresponsible to them sometimes. And these were all qualities that Jamil apparently hated, not because they were anything bad that’s supposed to be a front for secretly mocking everyone, but because he personally was confused as to why Kalim’s so freakin carefree as a character when Jamil himself isn’t. (As Azul said, it’s very easy for people to become envious of Kalim, and that’s already confirmed with how quickly the Scarabia dormmates’ opinion changed of Kalim after he takes them out to march to the oasis and after Jamil keeps mentioning the Asim family.)

Jamil’s had 17 years to harbour resentment against Kalim, but he’s also had 17 years to truthfully bond with Kalim, which he decided not to do because again. Stubborn. That’s why I can’t really say that Jamil’s just made one mistake (which was the entirety of scarabia chapter), especially the little hint drop that Jamil’s been hypnotizing Kalim even while they were younger and used anemia as an excuse for Kalim’s drowsiness. Anyway, the fact that Jamil’s been the one teaching Kalim magic, but even he didn’t know Kalim could summon a river and was genuinely surprised for a bit says a lot about how much of Kalim he can’t read, which he also mentions in his personal stories that Kalim is unpredictable. And fact is that Kalim can read Jamil’s emotions like an open-book, but couldn’t connect the dots until after he realizes how much Jamil’s hated him says something too. And when I say “realizes”, I mean “chooses not to ignore” how much Jamil’s hated him. Like,, it’s not like Jamil sleep-talked his backstory to Kalim while he’s passed out. Nor does anyone acc see the backstory except for the viewers + Jamil. And this can explain why Kalim didn’t really change how he interacts with Jamil at the end, if he knew the hate was coming but just didn’t want to acknowledge it. Then again, he does have limitless optimism here so there’s that.

But,, we’re talking about the only person Kalim’s ever trusted at all, betraying him and going off in one of the worse ways possible. I’m with the tweels here, I’m a bit mad because after what Jamil did, Kalim had no excuse to not get angry with him. He didn’t even get to punch him smh, but he did call him traitor so babey steps. Octavinelle teaching Kalim to be a little more harsher has me very very happy. (But miscommunication is strong in Scarabia, and with slow burn character development, I can see Kalim getting gradually more and more self-destructive poison anyone? chapter 5? and internally cynical and Jamil gradually regretting the time lost between them because, also according to the end of Scarabia, he doesn’t really mind an optimistic Kalim because like Kalim only had Jamil, Jamil really only has Kalim now after the tomfoolery he pulled in this chapter.)

So do I like Jamil more now than I did before? Kind of,. I had hopes for Scarabia (I’m sure a lot of people did with all the hyper analysis we did :p) But,, Jamil literally just got me angry this whole chapter. The backstory was nice, and Kalim praising Jamil and Jamil telling Kalim to stop (the way he screams ;;..) everytime gets me going. But esp with that piece of information, hating and blaming Kalim over something neither of them could change just,, recked them both. I can’t blame Jamil for building up resentment, but I can’t blame Kalim either for wanting to believe they were friends because he was trying to make the most out of their situation. Until Kalim realized the only way to do that was to just tell Jamil to stop being his servant and start off as equals to be true friends now. To which Jamil says no to the second notion profusely, but he also implies he’d rather be with Kalim than wth Azul, so. No more master/servant dynamics. And the ending was written off so sloppily but I think it was supposed to leave Jamil’s true feelings about Kalim end off on an ambiguous note imo. Again, sloppy, but sure.

Kalijami/Jamikali just seems really really toxic to me now, and I figured it would end up like that which is why I ended up reading other Scarabia ships (very into flokali and kaliver rn :p). I don’t usually see Japanese media fleshing out happy characters all too much, but with Kalim as literal Scarabia poster boy even tho he doesn’t represent the villain, I can see what direction they’ll take to develop Kalim now. Hopefully not how they developed Soma. (Ofc I wanted overblot!Kalim but,, I’m personally glad they didn’t do it rn, y’know? And the fact that we didn’t get introduced to an RSA counterpart for Scarabia at all has me,, thinking some things now...)
