Alright. Gonna set down the feed and plug the thing.
New year, new habits!
I write this travesty!
The site is in constant need of repair, so are the characters, and so is the author (me). Part 1 is steampunk, and in Part 2 we've gone diesel. It starts with a hate crime, this is not for the faint of heart, but it does get quite funny in places. The absurdity is a coping mechanism!
I've got to break my website later so I can try to fix it, but there's a new instalment this week so I'll give people time to read that, if there's any takers!
Known Readers: 2 (hi 5th and Kith!); 1st Goalpost: 10?
If you're reading, check in with me. My hit counter is buggy AF and I moved the comments offsite, to Tumblr. I won't know you're there if you don't say hi!
Known Supporters: I'm burning my Patreon to the ground because they annoyed me, give me some time to set up someplace else! 1st Goalpost: 5?
If you WANT to support, go ahead and let me know that too. I'll be working on a subscription basis in the future - you'll only pay when I publish!

Harry Potter Alternatives
Often the hardest parts about giving up the things you love most revolves around a lack of alternatives to fill the void. It can be daunting to think that what we've spent hours up to years of our life enjoying, filling our time with and finding community around is just suddenly gone. Particularly if its still there, you're just trying to avoid it.
Understandably, the same can be said for Harry Potter, its recent game release, and people who may be finding it hard to let go of the universe. So below are book, movie and gaming recommendations for people to explore that offer an alternative to lining the pockets of a bigot. The point of this list is to help support and ease the transition for those who want to but are struggling to phase supporting Harry Potter out of their lives.
Please also feel free to reply or reblog with your own recommendations, and share your own opinions if you've played or looked into any of the things suggested.

Okay, are you ready? I'm about to make my first fandom post in a long time.
When we talk about alternatives to Harry Potter, lots of folks like to throw out different book series that are generally based around young people attending some kind of supernatural school or camp that has a similar setup but isn't quite the same vibe.
I would like to recommend a TV series that is not just similar to Harry Potter, I would legitimately accuse Jowling Rowling of plagiarizing it ... except that it's not very well-remembered even among Americans of the right age. At least I don't see a lot of people talk about it when we wax poetic about '90s Nicktoons.
I am, of course, talking about Aaahh!!! Real Monsters.
Tumblr media
So let me set the scene for you. A young boy arrives to his first year at a supernatural boarding school where students learn all about their particular supernatural arts and associated culture.
Tumblr media
Our protagonist, Icarus, is nervous about it because you see his father is famous within the culture and as he starts meeting his fellow classmates he realizes that there's an expectation that he'll be top of the class and all the supernatural arts they'll be learning will come easily to him. Even the faculty has high expectations for him.
But then everyone's surprised and kind of disappointed to find out that actually? He's just a normal student like the rest of them, and worse he doesn't actually know much about the more esoteric parts of the culture.
Luckily he has two really good friends who help him through the ensuing school-based shenanigans: A terrifyingly talented and extremely intelligent girl, Oblina, who has studied the culture and history extensively and knows literally everything.
Tumblr media
And a goofy ginger, Krumm, whose dad is also kind of a legend in the culture who's always around to cheer our protagonist up, be best bros, find effective if inelegant solutions to their problems, and occasionally be a little jealous of the attention our protagonist gets.
Tumblr media
Though of course even his friends can't protect him from the faculty member, The Gromble, who seems to have it out for our protagonist (but secretly very much cares about all of his students, believes our protagonist will be great just like his father one day, and occasionally risks his life to save them).
Tumblr media
Or from the one school bully, Zimbo, who's the mean teacher's pet and is relatively intelligent and has a much less intelligent friend, The Snorch, who does all the physical bullying, usually at the behest of the faculty.
Tumblr media
And, of course, there's an outsider antagonist, Simon, who threatens their very way of life and is particularly obsessed with our protagonist.
Tumblr media
But the trio manage to fight him off at every turn, sometimes even enlisting the help of the rest of the school.
Over the course of the series, the trio and their neverending cast of classmates learn how to hone each of their unique skills all while making sure not to let normal people know they exist because ... reasons, and not going into the dangerous forbidden areas. At least not without faculty permission.
They even travel by toilet.
Tumblr media
There are a few different streaming services that carry Aaahh!!! Real Monsters and I really strongly encourage anyone who wants something not only has a lot of the same vibes of early Harry Potter but a lot of the actual literal plot and world-building elements to check it out.

Prompt from Anonymous: Hi, this is the person who asked about your Fandoms. I would like to know if you're okay writing a story where Harry is Adopted by other people. A crossover, but with a fandom that's not very used in that category ; you have the choice, NCIS, criminal Minds, MacGyver, Star Wars or 9-1-1. I'm mostly and generally okay with all ships, but I'd prefer Harry's adoptive parents to be of same sex. Sorry if in those fandoms, you don't have ones that you like. If it's not okay, or makes you uncomfortable, please ignore it~ have a nice day ! So this is going to be a Spencer/Derek (Criminal Minds fic)

There are many great LGBT books out there that explore themes of identity, acceptance, and belonging. While there may not be any LGBT books that are exactly like Harry Potter, there are certainly books that share some similarities in terms of their world-building, character development, and storytelling. Here are a few LGBT books that you might enjoy if you're a fan of Harry Potter:
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell: This book is often described as a "fangirl's dream" and is inspired by Harry Potter fan fiction. It follows Simon Snow, a young wizard who attends a magical school called Watford, where he must fight against an evil force threatening the magical world. The book features a romance between Simon and his roommate, Baz, and explores themes of love, friendship, and acceptance.
The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater: This series follows a group of friends as they search for a lost Welsh king and explore the magical ley lines that run through their town. The series features a diverse cast of characters, including Ronan, who is gay, and explores themes of identity, family, and sacrifice.
The Gilda Stories by Jewelle Gomez: This novel follows a young girl named Gilda who is turned into a vampire in the 1850s and spends the next two centuries exploring her identity and searching for a sense of belonging. The book features a diverse cast of characters and explores themes of race, gender, and sexuality.
The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon: This epic fantasy novel follows several characters as they work to save their world from an ancient evil. The book features a lesbian romance between two of the main characters and explores themes of love, duty, and sacrifice.
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare: This urban fantasy series follows a young girl named Clary as she discovers the world of Shadowhunters and battles against demons and other supernatural creatures. The series features a diverse cast of characters, including Magnus Bane, a bisexual warlock, and explores themes of love, loyalty, and betrayal.
These are just a few examples of LGBT books that you might enjoy if you're a fan of Harry Potter. Each of these books features engaging characters, intricate world-building, and themes that will resonate with readers of all ages and backgrounds.

Tomarry 👉👈😌
I could not let go of my pen until I finished this.
Not kidding. Pulled an all nighter bc inspiration stuck on me like a leech and I didn't want it to run out while I was procrastinating. Had to keep that momentum going.
It usually takes me ages to finish bc I feel compelled to render my art but I stuck with a normal sketch for this one.
Also had help from a 3D pose app bc I realized yet again how hopeless I am without reference. My wrist ached when I finished fr. I am genuinely proud of this one though and can't stop looking at it 🙈 The look Harry has when staring at Tom and just the overall picture of Tom leaning over Harry makes me want to giggle into my pillow.

Regulus and James arguing about Harrys and Dracos relationship.
Regulus: No. Absolutely not. He is not choosing this guy. He sounds like a dick.
(silence)
James: (laughs loudly) You’ve been a dick once too, you know.

a patroclus/achilles au wolfstar wip based on the idea that i think they’re the same people in parallel universes
if we’re talking about song of achilles and atyd, i think grant would be briseis, specifically in that scene where patroclus is dead and briseis is cleaning his body.. and achilles doesn’t want anyone to touch him at all. and briseis is so angry at achilles, and achilles hates himself so much for not stopping patroclus. a standoff between the girl who never had patroclus, and the boy who lost him; the both of them, in mourning.
comment any song of achilles x wolfstar scenes!! i may draw some :)

Too Distracted. Weird day. No Feed. Just Plugging the Thing!
New instalment is up! (And somewhat apathetically-formatted, I still didn't fix "related posts." I'm sorry. I'll get it at some point.)
And this, of course, is the thing I plug:
Current known readers: 3 (hi!), 1st Goalpost: 10?
Current supporters: 2 (hi Kith and 5th!), 1st Goalpost: 5?
And I'm depressed that I can't foment lasting societal change because I'm not the sort of person society values and wants to hear from, so I'm probably gonna leave it like that today. That's not all that's goin' on - I got medical and social stuff too - and my head's not in the game. Probably just gonna stare into the void until it's time to get some dinner and maybe talk and get my thoughts better organized for later. Or drink. Or both, both is good. The spouse and I both had a rough week, drinking and talking is good!

For all our Nouveau Woke  followers, I’m sure you’re wondering: what exactly is the Negro Spirit?  Put simply, it’s the magic that Black people have. Though other magic  schools only teach people with “magykal bloodlines”, here at the Noire Occult Laveau Academy(aka The HBCU),  we’re trying to end that practice by teaching all Black people how to access  their ancestral power. Whether you’re a medicine woman, manbo, or a Tarot girl, you’re more than welcome  to come and explore your craft at the Noire Occult Leveau Academy. And  don’t let nobody tell you otherwise!
Read sample chapter FREE on Wattpad and Afrovana, or head over to my shop to get a physical copy.

“Are you a wizard?”
Regulus stared down at the small child on his doorstep. Regulus looked around, peering around his front door. There was no one else in sight.
“Are you lost?” Regulus responded, glancing back down at the boy. He was a rather cute kid. With a mass of bushy black hair that fell over his green eyes. The eyes that were wide with interest, staring at Regulus.
The boy shrugged in reply to his question. “Why are your hands green?” The boy asked. Regulus frowned and brought his hands up to see. They were bright green from sparrow-grass Regulus had been chopping before being interrupted by a small knock at his door.
He sighed and asked the boy, “What’s your name?”
“Harry!” Harry exclaimed. “What’s yours, Mister Wizard?” Regulus smiled lightly at the title.
“I’m Regulus.” Harry gasped as his eyes widened and sparkled.
“Like the star?!”
Regulus was impressed. Very few adults were aware of the regulus star, much less a boy all of five years old.
“Thats right.” Regulus smiled at Harry. “You’re a smart one. How did you hear about regulus?”
“It’s my Papa’s favorite.” Harry says excitedly.
“Your Papa, huh?” How did this boy get here? To Regulus’ cabin, deep in the fairie forest. No one should be able to get within three hundred meters of his land without him knowing. Suddenly, Regulus was on guard. He should have been when he first heard a surprising sound at his door.
“Where is your Papa, Harry?” He asked the boy warily. Harry just shrugged unconcernedly. “How did you find my home?” He shrugged again.
“I was looking at the pretty flowers and then I wanted to know if a wizard lived here. Are you a wizard, Mister Regulus?”
Regulus pinched the bridge of his nose and heaved a sigh. This boy was going to drive him mad.
