shoyo doesn't always feel this ominous feeling once he sets his foot on the doorstep of their apartment, but when he does—his knees literally trembles in fear.

pagod siya. coaching bunch of energetic high school students, and despite knowing how to match their energy, his body's growing tired.

the moment he opened their door, he dumped his bag on the floor, removing his shoes while at it. mabuti na lamang ay nakapaglinis siya ng katawan, at nakapaglit ng plain na puting shirt, at itim na sweatpants—handa nang sabayan ang energy ng anak.

he was preparing himself for a loud voice to greet him, asking for dinner, but nothing happened. his eyes widened for a moment, momentarily holding onto the door before he rushed to get inside.

"rina?" tawag niya.

emptiness only answered him. he looked at the clock on their wall, it's already 9 pm, enough to assume his daughter's already home.

kaya naman iba ang takot na naramdaman niya nang walang sumagot sa una niyang tawag. lalo nang wala siyang makitang batang nakaupo sa harap ng TV nila.

"rina? 'nak?"

mahinang kalabog ang narinig niya mula sa kwarto nito. halos hindi niya na naiayos ang pagkakalapag ng plastic sa lamesa, at walang habas na tumakbo tungo roon.

"rina?" katok niya.

"i'm here." the voice was so faint. that's not his rina.

he checked if the door was locked, fortunately, it wasn't, kaya naman agad siyang pumasok dito. sinalubong siya ng madilim na kwarto, hindi siya sanay. the only thing that lightens up the room is the moon-shaped lamp beside her bed.

there, he saw his daughter—not really, but a crumpled burrito blanket with an obvious person under it. slowly, he walked towards it and he could hear faint sniffles, making him worry even more.

"'nak? anong problema natin?"

"nothing, pa," she immediately answered, still under the blanket.

he sighed. his heart beat has eased because, thankfully, his daughter's still here. pero hindi siya ganoon kapalagay lalo't ganito ang estado ni rina. shoyo doesn't know what to do.

"do you want to be alone?" tanong niyang muli.

"yes papa, but you're okay," she murmured.

when shoyo heard that, his heart melted. he scoots over, wanting to ruffle her orange hair, but he did not. instead, hinawakan niya na lang ang kamay na nakalabas sa kumot ng anak.

"ready ka na bang magkwento? may susuntukin ba si papa?" biro niya.

narinig niya ang mahinang tawa nito. "wala po. hindi ko rin po alam, pero wala ako sa mood. bigla na lang akong naging malungkot, wala namang problema."

he nodded, understanding. imbis na magsalita, hinawakan na lang niya nang mas mahigpit ang kamay ng anak. hindi niya nakikita ang mukha nito dahil nasa ilalim pa rin ito ng kumot, pero sapat nang maipaalam niya sa anak na nasa tabi siya nito.

"you know what, pa? i did not think na problema po yung mababang score ko last week. promise, lalo na never mo naman akong pin-ressure na dapat mataas," umpisa nito.

"syempre naman! yung scores ko dati? wala pa sa kalahati ng scores mo ngayon, 'no!"

"i know," she chuckles. "that's why i was surprised na malungkot ako kasi hindi ko nakuha yung gusto kong score. i was sad because i did not get what i wanted, lalo't last week pa iyon tapos ngayon lang ako umarte, until i remember shiro's death and i cried, until i was crying over nothing—at ngayon malungkot na malungkot ako kahit wala namang dapat kalungkutan."

shoyo's eyes softened as he, also, remembered shiro—their dog. pero wala roon ang pansin niya. he was looking over his daughter dahil natatakot siyang lalo lang itong malungkot kung may sasabihin siyang mali. he could hear her, trying to quiet down her sobs.

he closed his eyes for a moment. "walang mali sa pagiging malungkot, anak," he started. "you shouldn't have to beat yourself up because you're sad. you may feel what you feel without feeling so bad about it—ang galing ko, 'no? english 'yun." dumilat siya, at nang makitang nakatingin na sa kaniya si rina, ngumiti siya nang malapad.

"papa naman eh!" nangiti ito, ang brown na matang katulad ng sa ama ay natatamaan ng liwanag mula sa lamp. "credits naman po kay tita yach!"

his laugh echoed. "but really, you can be sad all you want, nandito naman si papa para samahan kang maging malungkot. cry until you can't anymore, i'm with you—i'll even cry for you, anak."

with that, lalong umiyak si rina. this time, shoyo tried scooping her in his arms until her head's on his chest, and that's when he teared up also. he could feel her getting heavier, taller—lumalaki na talaga si rina. kinse anyos ito ngayon, at hindi niya alam kung kaya niyang madagdagan ito.

"go on, pagkatapos nito, paunahan tayong maubos yung roasted chicken sa labas, ha?" dugtong niya.

rina laughed again. suminga ito sa puting shirt ni shoyo na pabirong ikinalukot ng mukha niya, lalong tumawa ang anak. "syempre ako mananalo!"

"pagbibigyan kita siguro?"

at finally, narinig niya na ang malakas na tawa ng anak—tawang ginaya kay kuroo dahil cool daw noong bata pa siya, ngayon nakasanayan na. "pero pa, samahan mo muna ako."

kumunot ang noo ni shoyo, at sinilip ang mukha ng anak. she was smiling sheepishly. "bili tayo pads."

"oh? ubos na? ako na lang ang lalabas pagkatapos natin kumain."

tumango si rina. "okay po! paunahan sa lamesa!"

humalakhak si shoyo. "trained ng tito tobio mo 'to, anak!"

nadapa si shoyo.

Not quite friends, not quite lovers, more than strangers, yet still not enough for eachother.

Not because they were different or somewhat unalike.

But because neither could admit the affection communicated by their sight.

“a tension”, “some feeling”, “a stare” but nothing more.

Nothing to initiate the fondess that each love bore.

A desire they both held, wishing the other one would know.

But not enough love to tell them today, “maybe in a day or so”.

In which, bokuto and akaashi finds it hard to tell one another about the feelings each felt, too scared of rejection, criticizim, and their friendship to fall.

"Nakakainis talaga eh! Deserving naman natin yung main arena, papampam kasi eh!!" said bokuto while walking, and akaashi said "hayaan mo nalang, atleast we're hogging all the attention sa court" bokuto crossed his arms "spokening dollars amputa" akaashi hit bokuto playfully, bokutos eyes lit up "akaashi look oh! Tara lets bili!" And pointed at a bakery, akaashi looked at him blankly, "we're gonna be late na" and after akaashi said that, bokuto made tampo, crossing his arms while grumply walking to the arena as akaashi followed him, akaashi doesn't like bokuto getting grumpy so he made a promise "I'll buy you that later nalang, how many as you want" and bokuto stopped, turning around "talaga? tangina mo talaga eh, wag moko ineenglish ha, pero sige pinipilit mo ako e" tapos inapir si akaashi, hinablot nya kamay ni akaashi at tumakbo papunta sa arena.

"akaashi pasa mo sakin yung bola!" Said bokuto, and akaashi was thinking about the outcomes, A, if he passed the ball to bokuto, it would be a success and they can continue the game, B, bokuto would fail to shoot sa other side of the net and get even worse, c, akaashi won't pass the ball to bokuto, leading to bokuto being uncooperative, which would be the worst. Akaashi passed the ball to bokuto attempts to land a spike but it's received and the Eiwa team scores instead. Fukurōdani is now two points behind when the team notice that Bokuto has fallen into another one of his moods. Bokutos teammates tried to cheer him up but bokuto was upset, "akaashi! Don't pass me the ball anymore!!" Bokuto said, and akaashi nodded and said "okay, use this time to calm down" bokuto looked at him with wide eyes but continued the game. It's been minutes and akaashi was craving to just hit the ball for just, one time, but akaashi wouldn't pass the ball to him just as he said.

But finally, akaashi encouraged bokuto and gave him assurances, leading to bokuto getting a successful spike.

"Akaashi! Nakita mo yon? Nakita mo?" Bokuto said, and akaashi replied "yes, ang galing mo." And ngumiti si bokuto. "Hoy!! Yung sabi mong bibilhan moko yung asa bakery!" Bokuto said, and grabbed akaashis wrist and ran to the bakery

While bokuto was eating the food, akaashi was staring at him, like always, but this time, it was so pure, so full of love. "Bat ka nakatingin? Crush mo ba ako?" Bokuto joked, tumawa si akaashi and said "tanga, hindi"

While they were walking back sa arena, a girl came close to them and talked to akaashi, they seemed so close, bokuto felt jealous, and tried to reason the they'd be late "akaashi malalate na tayo!!" Bokuto said, "teka, 3 minutes" akaashi replied. Bokuto crossed his arms and said "hmp, bahala ka jan, mauuna na ako" and walked away, hindi pa nakaka 6 steps si bokuto, hinila na sya ni akaashi, "lets go?" Akaashi said, "luh, parang tanga" habang pinalo si akaashi, they walked back to the arena.

It was after your afternoon classes had ended that you and the twins decided to head outside the school for some totobits (Kapampangan slang for street foods) before volleyball practice starts. “Coz ‘Samu will treat us for some merienda, Y/N-chan!” Atsumu said to you smugly, after the former was lost to a battle of arm wrestling earlier during lunch period; this was his punishment.

“Yer all talk, shithead! It’s because ya cheated on me by dangling a packet of spicy tuna onigiri in front of ma face,” Osamu replied back, sending a hard kick on his twin brother’s bum.

And so, after a full ten minutes of the Miya Twins fighting (again, for the nth time today) much to your chagrin, the three of you stood in front of a fishball stand, small plastic cups full of spiced vinegar and small elongated paper plates in hand, poking through a few fishballs and kikiam and hotdog bits being cooked in a wok full of hot boiling oil with bamboo barbecue sticks (skewers).

“The kwek-kwek here smells divine!” You deeply sniffed through the freshly cooked sticks of hard-boiled quail eggs coated in orange-colored batter, and grabbed one to eat, not before Atsumu quickly snatched the whole thing from your hand.

“What are you doing, Atsumu-kun?” You stared at him confusingly while he slowly slid off the eggs from the stick (using his own stick) and onto your paper plate one by one. Atsumu then tore off the pointy end of the stick and threw it away on the ground (not on the trash can attached to the side car). Next, he poked the eggs back to your now-blunt stick before giving it back to you and smiled proudly.

You blinked twice before muttering, “Uh, thank you… I guess.”

“Oi, blow it first before eating, tiny sunflower! Don’t wanna burn yer pretty mouth bad though,” the blonde-haired setter advised, dunking a stick containing three hotdog bits on his dipping cup (sawsawan). You did as you were told and blew three times before happily chomping on the kwek-kwek, thanking the twins for treating you with food today.

“Simp,” Osamu deadpanned while chewing on his kikiam, his blue eyes narrowed on the older Miya. Atsumu nearly choked on the fishball he was eating and whipped his head towards the gray-haired twin, his cheeks dusted with red. “Wha—“

“Seriously, ‘Tsumu... now’s yer chance to confe—mffh!”

“S-shut yer trap! Or I’ll shove more of that kikiam on yer chatty mouth!”
