greek mythology: amphitrite
amphitrite was the goddess-queen of the sea, wife of poseidon, and eldest of the fifty nereides. she was the female personification of the sea--the loud-moaning mother of fish, seals, and dolphins.

Can you please draw Amphitrite riding on a dolphin while shooting her gun in the air? That would be so badass!

Lady Amphitrite is so wonderful
I see her in the gentle waves that embrace the shore, as well as the storms out on the open sea
I see her in the smallest of fish, and the largest of whales
I see her in the beautiful coral reefs, and I see her in the darkest trenches of the sea
Her voice can be heard in the sound of waves crashing against the shore, and in the beautiful songs of whales
Every creature in the ocean, whether gentle and beautiful or fierce and deadly, are her children
She is the mighty goddess of the sea
She is the mother of all sea life

listen, I love greek mythology, I have always loved greek mythology, the Olympians are my bros (derogatory)…but they’re really trying to tell me that the god of The Sea is a Dude?? that the godly personification of The Ocean is a guy???
I’m sorry no. look at her!!!! does she look like a man to you??? her chaos, her calm, her depth, her beauty, her ability to create and nurture life and her merciless, unrelenting, cruel and passionate rage. who could possibly experience that and then deem her a man?

Iemanjá is the deity of fertility, originally associated with the sea and salt water. She protects fishermen and sailors as well as children. She's also the great mother of the pantheon, who welcomes all who need her. An immensely powerful deity, her power reaches into all aspects of femininity thus fertility and the family; she is usually depicted as a mermaid and is seen dressed in blue or white. With the arrival of the African slaves (mainly from Yorubá people), brought by the Portuguese from their colony in Africa, their religions spread to many countries in South America, including Brazil. One of the best-known figures of the Afro-Brazilian religion of Candomblé is Iemanjá, from Yorubá. Iemanjá is called many names outside Brazil, with different spellings like Yemanjá and Yemonjá. Here in Brazil, she is commonly worshiped in Candomblé and Umbanda religions. I finished drawing her this last weekend and I just found out this Tuesday, that today, February 2nd is the day to honor her! From leaving the surface and exploring our depths. So, coincidence or not, I made this drawing with a lot of care and respect, I hope she likes it as much as I enjoyed doing it! Today In Salvador, the biggest party in the country takes place in honor of Iemanjá. When, devotees of Candomblé, Umbanda and Catholicism place the offers and tickets with requests in baskets that will be taken to the high seas. These baskets are carried by around 300 boats, with the sloop carrying the fishermen's offerings always at the head of the procession. People regardless of religion celebrate the same way, bringing flowers, perfume, champagne, candles, but there are people who have never heard of the legend of Iemanjá. The purpose of the party is to please the queen of the sea, in the hope that she can bless the fishermen more and more. Today really is a special day! May Iemanjá bless us with her affection, bathe us in her healing waters and clean our pains. That from today we can have a transparent and fluid walk, and that our internal waters (our emotions) are controlled. Axé, Iemanjá.

Folder Name: Zaz and the Gods
Goddess of the Sea (and rivers and lakes and ponds and such) and littler sister to the Goddess of the ocean.
Her age kept her from being on the council of Zazzle sentence.
Unnamed because im bad at names hurray
She follows in her sisters footsteps but after the end of the world and her sister goes into such a rage at the death of their siblings and destruction of others.
She slinks away from her sisters path and chooses to hide her seas and rivers underground or in the skies, hoping the humans can find her if they need her. But needing to preserve what’s left of herself.
She always found humans interesting and often loved to see boats crossing with the little sailors. She controlled the rivers and saw much more of humanity than her older sister had. She’s seen horrible things sunk to the bottom of her, she’s also seen tragedy on those same surfaces.
But shes seen sacrifice and love and hope and family in those places as well.
So she opts out of harming humanity, the group of complex individuals she fascinated over.
