I released the most recent chapter of the Tank Land Tales. In it I revealed some more loreeeeeeee, including the main antagonist of the series. Introducing Null, God Of The Void (And before you ask, yes! This is a Ben 10 Reference, lol).

I didn't want to make a real person the actual antagonist, instead I based Null of the concept of negative aspects of life. Things like depression, grief, anxiety, denial, accidents, mistakes or even something simple like art block. So not necessarily evil, but instead the bad things that happen in life that are natural and will almost always happen. Please check out the video if you want to see his debut, and learn a little more about him.

"The unknown six god of the world, Null was initially created to be the God of Mending, a means for the Ink Tank lords to find a way to reverse the damage and mistakes they had made over the years, such as restoring The End and Nether to what they once were. But plans fell through quickly when Null was born with the opposite powers, with the ability to destroy, decay and vanish anything he touches, with no way to bring them back. Becoming yet another reminder that the gods could not control everything as they so hoped they could. Originally, they tried to teach Null, taking him under their wings, but their denial over what he was eventually lead to the lord of the void to turn his back on them, and embracing what he was. After all, why should he be the only god not to follow the path he was made for? Very few mortals know the truth about Null, as he is a tale that the gods do not like to talk about. Beyond the gods, not many have actually met Null, though those who have have described him as being calm, quiet, with an eerie perspective on life, shown in the way he speaks. And yet, many also say that he is the most honest among the gods, having never told a lie in his entire life. He's not an evil person at heart, rather a figure merely following the role he can not simply ignore."

A Wa'allcraje; a beast that ranges from small to huge in size, and well known for its adaptations to traverse both land and sandsea in my setting. These beasties are a must have for any who are planning on setting sail on the sandsea and not looking to get stranded.

The demi-goddess of fauna has many titles to her name, ranging from Mother Nature, World Serpent, to Chimera, her true form being bits and pieces of some of her creations. Similar to Ash, she lives by the survival of the fittest idea, stepping back and letting her animals grow and live on their own, following the circle of life. Though that being said she does deeply love them, and has spoiled them when she sees fit, especially newly made creatures. She is an honest being, and speaks her mind all the time, but does so out of wanting the best for people and this world.  She spends most of her time helping out Ash, being one of the first he goes to when he has new ideas, running them by her, knowing she will give him a straight answer. She also hangs around the demi-god of Chaos, Ignes, fairly often, the two often get into teasing and taunting matches but are good friends. Though while she is fair on people, lord forbid she sees you litter or damage the ecosystem in horrible ways, cause she will show no mercy.

so in an attempt to actually use positive thinking, anytime i fuck up and my brain reacts as if ive cause a minor apocalyptic event, i compare my fuck up to the 4 minute fuck up committed by the crew of the uss william d porter.

and only today, as i was having to explain what happened to my mom when i was explaining the whole comparison thing, did i realise that most people dont know about it and ive decided that needs to change because its objectively hilarious.

...which is a weird thing to say about an event that occured on a warship in 1943, specifically november 14th.

see the uss william d porter was a fletcher-class destroyer but you dont need to know what that means, just that she had guns that went bang bang and that she was escorting another ship, the uss iowa, to cairo.

while they were on their way there, they performed some gun trials like testing the anti-aircraft guns or the torpedos. and while they were running a torpedo drill, the crew of the porter managed to fire a live torpedo straight at the iowa which you know, in terms of a list of things to do while escorting a ship, shooting a torpedo at them is not on that list.

especially if the president of the united states is on board.

yeah so fdr was on board and the gun trials were actually his idea, and part of the trials was that they were conducted under radio silence.

and that means the crew of the porter couldnt just call the iowa to be like "move out the way, we accidentally shot a torpedo at you."

but they did have signal lamps and you know, the signalman on board was trained to signal this exact kind of message.

...and uh never mind, the signalman did manage to successfully tell the iowa that a torpedo was coming toward them but wasnt as successful when it came to the direction the torpedo was coming from.

not all hope is lost though because the signalman could still use the signal lamp to correct his previous mistake and-, never mind, he announced that the porter was reversing, which she wasnt.

yeah so at catastrophic mistake number 3, they broke radio silence to warn the iowa and she managed to turn out of the way just in time which meant no one got hurt. and even though the inquiry into the incident led to chief torpedoman (fantastic job title btw) lawton dawson being sentences to hard labour, fdr intervened and waved away his sentence, saying it was all an accident.

but yeah, so thats my new measure for "how much did i really fuck up?" and when i compared accidentally picking up a pencil case without a tag on it in wilko, turns out it was a very minor fuck-up. yes, the cashier had to ask another worker to grab a duplicate so they could scan the barcode, but i didnt nearly kill the president during wartime via accidental friendly fire
