I think its a rite of passage to make an au at least once, and ive been thinking super hard about how Sonic raised tails lately. So obviously an age swap au had to happen. Buttercups and Golden Flowers

#i drew this mostly because i noticed that a lot of people mistake buttercups and golden flowers as being the same thing. #so i wanted to try drawing them like. distinctly different in the same image. #it's not a big thing but i do think the fact that they're different has some significance. or at least like. symbolic meaning. #my art #undertale #chara #chara dreemurr #safeutdr #something about the fact that they both look similar at least in color but one of them is poisonous. #the way golden flowers are clearly a positive symbol throughout the game and clearly heavily associated with Chara. #contrasted with the very negative connotations buttercups have. with asgore getting sick and chara using them in their plan. #you never see buttercups in the game. which makes it even easier to mistake the two. because we've only seen one kind of #golden/yellow flower. who's to say 'golden flowers' aren't just referring to buttercups? well. #why would there be golden flower tea if they were poisonous? why would chara want to see the golden flowers from their village if they're #the same kind of flower? they clearly have buttercups in the underground. #it feels almost intentional the way golden flowers are so easily mistaken for buttercups. or at least that the difference is so subtle. #it goes well with the way they're associated so strongly with chara who's also a very subtle yet important part of the narrative. #from a surface-level perspective the flowers that took their life and the one's they actually like/are important to them are the same thing #but when you pay closer attention to the narrative you can see the different symbolic meanings. #well. uhh I've thought about it too much don't mind me. #see i think about it from the perspective of chara being super adamant about them being two different flowers #and frustrated when anybody gets it wrong. because clearly. The problem with Wikipedia is that it has rendered all other encyclopedias extinct or out of view (the exception are fandom encyclopedias, I guess, but those have their own problems). And people need in-depth information which also isn't highly specific academic papers that only tackle one specific thing in depth without wider context (my main problem when researching, for example, pre-columbian cultures.)

And competitors to Wikipedia like, you know, Encyclopedia Brittanica (I actually read it sometimes, and it's good until it hits you with straight up XIX imperialist apologia) aren't really good either. There is also a drought of encyclopedias in Spanish as all search results are absorbed by Wikipedia, this is why I hoard all sorts of PDFs and books, because the results in Spanish are just Spanish Wikipedia (probably the WORST of all major Wikipedias) and random SEO blogs.

There should be lots of online encyclopedias on different topics written by experts, ideally with some oversight because Wikipedia can be very, very biased when it wants (you can tell some people are really masturbating to Byzantine emperors), but I think this is a lost cause too since Google search, which let's face it, it's 99% of all internet searches, is declining into mush fast. And with AI generated content, things are going to get worse. I think we're honestly reaching a tipping point in the internet regarding access to reliable information.

At the end, my suggestion is that you go and download books, actual published books, and keep your sources broad. Because I think we're reaching a point where information on the internet is going to decline. It won't be lost, it will just be impossible to find unless you do a deep dive, or worse, mumbled into SEO/AI garbage misinformation.

I've watched Helluva Boss and enjoyed it to an extent, and I am planning on eventually checking out Hazbin Hotel cuz it seems to be about the same, tone and concept-wise. I'm sure I'll like it fine.

But like! I truly canNOT understand the extreme hype. And the most frustrating part is the fact that these are painfully mid shows. They're definitely interesting concepts that could potentially produce great storylines, but they end up getting bogged down hard in sloppy and rushed execution. It's disappointing.

Also, it says A LOT that the numerous fan redesigns of the Hazbin characters that I've seen look miles better than the originals. For a show that was in development for the series proper for over four years, it flaunts some of the most godawful "Tumblr sexyman" middle school looking character designs I've ever had the displeasure of watching huge swaths of fans go balls to the wall nuts for. They really dropped the freakin ball on that front imo. Oof.

Like I said, both these shows are good, to an extent. But I'm not sure Hazbin in particular deserves so much... perfunctory praise, I guess, is how I'd phrase it.

kim dokja definitely cares for shin yoosung and lee gilyoung both, but… it’s obvious where his bias is

I mean, shin yoosung is one of his favorite characters from twsa, so it makes sense… and since he knows her as a character so he can take some shortcuts (so he assumes, anyway) but he actually has to go out of his way to get to know lee gilyoung, which. he doesn’t? like he doesn’t try to find out what his sponsor is until it’s broadcast to everyone in the duet between good and evil, and he never even learns that wasn’t gilyoung's mom on the subway in the first scenario

not because he doesn't care, of course... but the potential similarities probably unnerve him a bit. he wouldn't really know how to deal with it

For how much Machete is described by others as off-putting, he really is a beautiful dog. Does Vasco ever tell him so? That his eyes make him look earnest, his fur the most comforting shade of white like cream, the way his ears catch light like stained glass? I think Vasco definitely tries, sincerely and often, but Machete is very reluctant to accept compliments and positive feedback. Especially if it's about something as personal and innate as his looks.
