Popty ping is one Welsh term for “microwave” and isn’t that just a delightful bit of onomatopoeia? Makes me think of popcorn. 🍿 Several people have brought it to my attention that this isn’t the standard term but I still think it’s quite fun to say. It’s always fascinating to see how language is used and words are created and what words indicate insider vs outsider. If I’m ever able to travel to Wales I will make sure to use meicrodon instead.

Real quick because I keep seeing these get mixed up:

"ethnic" is spelled with an N, as in "ethnically Irish", "Irish ethnic group", "my ethnicity is Irish".

"ethic" is spelled without an N, as in "I was raised by people who were raised by people who were raised by people who grew up in extreme poverty and suffering, which led them to develop a strong code of ethics that they passed down to their children including charity and kindness towards other living beings."

Ethical or unethical behavior isn't determined by one's ethnicity.
