Palindrome
Tim: "Go hang a salami" backward is "I'm a lasagna hog" and that pleases me.
Damian: how did either of those sentences occur naturally for you to realize this?
Tim: Any time you're awake after 3am you fall into another dimension where the gods who never existed bestow upon you forbidden knowledge.
Damian: The only thing that concerns me more than your first statement is that answer.

The streets of Oppède-le-Vieux contain traces of a very mysterious past, one of them: the Carré Magique, also called Carré Sator. The SATOR square is the oldest known square of letters. It consists of the five Latin words SATOR (plower), AREPO (plough), TENET (hold in its power), OPERA (work), and ROTAS (wheels, orbit). These words are intertwined and form a palindrome. That is, it can be read upside down, upside down, and down.

Happy 4/20 Sherlock
A joyus 20th of April 2024. Or with the date format used in America 4/20/2024, which is quite a nice palindrome. Is that why today's date is significant?

I made a little mini reference for Patrick. He's a drifter palindrome originally from the woodlands, though his phenotype matches the typical woodland social appearance. Maybe he got kicked out of a social group from the woods and became a drifter, or maybe he just looks that way.
During breeding season, palindromes get colored patches on the insides of their mouths to advertize in courtship displays. The mouthparts each correspond to an opposing side (like how in cosine law an angle has an opposing but corresponding side length on a triangle) to show off what gonads a palindrome has. Patrick is bisex on two sides and fully male on one, for example.
When Patrick speaks with other palindromes, he has a different name and different grammatical rules with respect to how he's referred to. Patrick (he/him) is just an identity that human guy made up. I need to think about how palindromes use pronouns but I have no experience with conlangs, or even what these guys sound like, so I'll have to noodle it around in my head.
