Yeah, I'm not taking this sitting down. Man, I really am not trying to have beef out here, but I refuse to have my good fucking name tarnished. To make a public post about me? Yeah, I'm going to share my side. The facts are as such:

I approached wolf on 12/20/23 about a NSFW commission inspired by one of their works. It would feature my sona and an aged up Donnie. As they mentioned, our initial conversation was good. We went back and forth during the sketch phase and I requested quite a lot of edits. I asked if I could pay them for these corrections.

it was right after this that wolf asked about Donnie's battle shell since it wasn't illustrated.

After this message, I did not hear back from wolf after 2/9/24 until I sent them a follow-up message 3/27/24

I did not hear back from wolf until today 5/6/24.

Now I cannot share the images of the art I received because it is NSFW, but I can tell you that the grey from my sona's body appeared to be missing. The ears of my sona were grey, but the body only looked yellow. Donnie was missing his purple arm marks, and his knee pads were still the same only now they were colored in black along with his mask. From here I will just send the conversation in its entirety.

For reference, this was the reference sheet they had.

I was then sent two pieces where the grey on my sona was very obvious and Donnie's markings were now present with the following text.

Now again, I wish I could show you the pieces, but I can't. I was offered a 50% refund for my troubles, but I was not interested in taking it because wolf had already done all the work.

I will say that I was extremely frustrated with the whole affair so the next part I will admit was a bit salty because while corrections had been made, I wasn't able to give any input so there were still mistakes in my sona's colors (specifically the underside of the tail was yellow instead of white and my grey arm had one side yellow) and Donnie's mask was still black. The following is our last correspondence on my blog.

This would have been the end of it for me. Except, I did not get the email. I waited in hopes it would come in, but none did. Since I was blocked I was forced to reach out from one of my side blogs @thisgoesouttoyoubaby which feel free to check. it's my reblog sideblog that I use to send my bestie memes. It dates back YEARS and is not used for spam.

As you can see I was blocked here.

Now I have been refreshing my email feed waiting. I know emails can take time, but I have no way to confirm if I'm getting my work because I was immediately blocked on thisgoesouttoyou with no response.

So I used another sideblog, this time @plowingon which you can again, freely search, its not a spam blog, but a blog I once made to record the live of my old german shepherd I had years ago when he was getting older.

And wouldn't you know it, I got my first email from wolf at

Coincidentally, only after I sent my last message to them.

Now I'm not interested in hurting wolf's reputation. I think you should still commission them if you'd like. I still am a fan of their art. I have no ill will, but fuck if I will stand by as someone tells me that I won't pay an artist. I never even said i wouldn't pay. I was just frustrated because they wouldn't follow their own three correction rule. They allowed me no recourse, and then they were petty before I could even confirm that I received the email.

Could I have been nicer?

Of course.

Could I have been more clear?

Absolutely.

But there is no world in which I tried to gaslight anyone. I pride myself on my honesty. I was not shy when paying them. I sent payment before we even began. I offered to pay them more and acknowledged I was a needy customer halfway through. So I apologize for this long post, but I wanted to make sure all of this was visible because how dare you call me a scammer, wolf.

You disappoint me.

My store has a VERY lenient return policy.

(Personally, I think it's TOO lenient.)

The policy is:

•return WITH receipt= full refund, refund goes back on original form of payment, except for debit. Returns that were paid debit get cash refunds.

•return WITHOUT receipt= lowest price of item in last 90 days, store credit

•opened packages are returnable

•used products are returnable (this one has some restrictions, but not really. Cashiers are only "supposed" to accept returns if the item is still sellable, but most cashiers don't inspect the items and if a cashier deems the product unsellable, the customer bitches to the manager who licks their entire ass and does a full refund for them)

•seasonal products are returnable even after season has ended (Christmas items can be returned all year, same with Easter, Halloween, etc)

•there is seemingly no restrictions on how soon a customer has to return an item. Just 2 weeks ago (March 2024) I had a customer bring in products and a receipt from 2019 and the system accepted it. It had been so long that we literally got a whole new register system in between the original purchase and the return and it STILL went through.

What the store DOESN'T accept for returns:

• Products from other companies?? Hello??

This woman brought in a bag from a completely different company (the logos aren't similar and the colors are completely different. Red and blue compared to green and white) And at first, I thought she just recycled the bag, but she pulled out a receipt from the red and blue store and an item that I'm 100% positive was never sold at my company and wouldn't listen when I repeatedly explained that I COULD NOT refund an item we have never sold. I scanned the item on the register and showed her the error message that said "item not in inventory" I showed her that the item was in fact on her receipt from Red And Blue Store and showed her the big ass Red And Blue Store label on the receipt. I fucking called a manager over because she insisted and was adamant that she bought the item here. The MANAGER said the same fucking thing about the receipt and item being from a completely different company. 20 minutes later, she finally fucking gave up and accepted that she couldn't scam us today.

Which. It's SO easy to scam this store. Just steal an item. We do not have security. We have security cameras, but I suspect they don't work, since no one has been banned for shoplifting or anything and I KNOW people shoplift. (I support it and look the other way) We do not have enough staff to patrol the store, so the only staff members are 1 cashier and 1 department monitor and as long as you don't blatantly steal in front of the cashier, you're good. We do not have sensors on the door. 90% of the products are not locked up. Basically just don't steal spray paint, because that's the one thing that's locked up. And if you DO steal, just be cool about it and don't draw attention to yourself. We do not check bags or pockets or anything like that. And if you panic and run, just don't stop running until you're outside of the building. We are not allowed to chase you outside of the building.

And if you manage to get through these unbelievably easy obstacles and steal some items, you can just fucking bring them back and say you lost your receipt but want to return them and you will literally get free money. Sure, it's a gift card, but if the return is under $5, you get cash. Green Crafts and Fabric Store fyi for anyone who wants some free shit.

Manshine City vs Bastard Munchen Part 2 "Oops I stopped Reading For Two Weeks" Edition

Last time: Nagi stood underneath Reo's window with a boombox and asked him to take him back. Reo, who swore he didn't need Nagi and was going to do this for HIMSELF, flings himself out the window.

I do like that Isagi is trying to master-mind the field 'oooh I can predict your every move!', theoretically Kaiser is doing the exact same thing, and they still fail to account for each other and completely fuck up their Pro Strats. I swear, Kaiser is just if the Isagi That Plays Soccer existed off the field as well as on it.

GOD Reo's inner monologue. "We split up once... we followed different paths..." ONE it's been like a month absolute tops TWO I maintain that Reo and Nagi exist in a totally different genre than the rest of the cast.

(Tbh I'm a little disappointed the Reo-Nagi drama seems to have resolved so easily, though there might still be tension outside of the field. I doubt Nagi's going to try and split up with Reo again at this point. Gotta wrap up these character arcs and move on, save the real meat for Episode Nagi in 4 years. Which is a shame, because given how batshit things were back in Blue Lock Reo absolutely Losing It was one of the things I was looking forward to most. What, he can't be too crazy in the insane soccer manga?)

Kaiser and Isagi, you two are my only hope... I need a murder attempt, c'mon...

I don't know enough about soccer to say if a two-stage volley is an 'insane, godly move' but I think a 5-stage anything has got to be pretty impressive. Who knew Nagi could be bothered to count that high. (I know Nagi didn't actually punt Isagi in the face but it sure looked like it, I was taken aback for a second.)

I love the way Nagi's 'ego' manifests on the pitch too, it's great. Gets really hyped up for a little bit of a game, gets super intense, trashtalks like a champ, I am a GOD routine, scores an absolutely insane fucking goal, goes 'yep that's all I wanted' and powers down mid-game. It's not over yet but he did what he came for! He's just like me forreal

I know Kunigami is in this game, it just really doesn't feel like Kunigami is in this game. The match is losing track of Chigiri as well, I got a little surprised when he popped back up. I know the lack of synergy is on purpose due to the 'every man's either out for himself or the guy he's mentally ill about' aspect/'build your team around the striker' philosophy, but it does make the teams feel really uneven when the only characters that tend to matter are the Strikers + whoever's supporting them at the moment. It wasn't so bad when they were playing with limited teams, but right now half the teams feel like total space filler.

(The whole 'guaranteed shot' thing feels a bit... insulting to the concept of goalies/defense players too. I don't know much about soccer but it does feel like a major dick move LOL. To be fair, Gagamaru is not a goalie. Does Bastard Munchen not have a goalie better at goal-keeping than 'guy with hard head that doesn't play this role normally'.)

But yeah seriously Kunigami went to an ambiguous soccer torture camp to get his whole personality destroyed and for what. This? He doesn't even get to pretend to be the biggest threat on the field for even one game. Give that man a refund. Or at least some free therapy.

117 on my main, but not all of them are fics and not all of the fics are written by me, or just me (some are fanbinding posts, some are fanart, some are collaborative works). including my other two accounts, we're talking 224 works in total.

on my main, 867,037 words, but that includes about 120k not written by me.

3. What fandoms do you write for? 

currently: Afdeling Q, BBC Shetland. though for the latest yuletide I went back to Volstovic Cycle for a stint and i wrote my first ever Ocean's 11 fic after years and years of only reading.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

that's 4 Harry Potter fics plus one Avengers/Batman crossover I wrote in 2012 on a whim after seeing the Dark Knight Rises and which became unexpectedly popular for a bit. I still love that fic though:

yes, usually. I stopped responding to comments on my HP fic a while ago because I couldn't summon the energy to engage with them, and more recently I turned off all comments for HP fic so that I wouldn't have to bother at all. I'm glad people are still able to enjoy these fics, but I need some distance.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I've written some dark fic in the past and I think what comes closest is this old thing I wrote for HP nextgendarkfest back in like 2011, in which some of the nextgen characters (including Harry's sons) were criminals who staged their own murders to cover up a heist they did but it implies that Harry was on to them, nearly caught them in the act, and was devastated about it.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

almost all of them??? most of what I write has a happy ending because I want happy endings, damn it. if by happiest you mean 'least complicated' or 'unadulterated joyful' or something like that, then maybe...I don't know, god, I could name at least 50 fics like that just off the top of my head.

8. Do you get hate on fics? 

not in a while - I used to get some nasty comments on this one old HP fic that had a nextgen teenage character working out his sexuality, and some people took offense at the character being asexual/not being asexual enough/turning out to not be asexual in the end. like, make up your mind about what the problem is at least? I also got nasty comments on another HP fic which featured aromantic polyamorous Harry in a V relationship with Ginny and Draco (and Ginny herself was in a V relationship with Harry and Blaise) for various reasons, including but not limited to people not understanding that one can in fact be both polyamorous and aromantic at one and the same time. by the time i posted the everybody is trans HP fic I was anticipating nasty comments so I turned comment moderation on for that fic.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

sometimes. in the past I would include it (and hate writing it) because I thought you had to, but these days I only write it when I feel like it. more often than not it's some kind of character moment rather than a horny thing, though I do usually try to approach the smut writing from the angle of 'what would this character enjoy about having sex with this other character? what are their focus points? what are they horny for? what are their coherence levels? what are their sensitivities? how well do they know their own body? their partner's body? how do they communicate? etc. etc.' you'd think that leads to some very unsexy smut writing but if i'm honest i think those bits of writing actually wound up being both the horniest writing i've ever done AND the most true to character (according to my interpretation of the characters anyway).

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

a few - crossovers don't hold a lot of appeal for me in general, so when I've done crossovers there's usually been a 'what if?' spark that set if off.

aforementioned how to become a superhero fic, Avengers/Batman crossover, in which Tony Stark and Bruce Wayne are longtime friends.

it's pure filth that i hide (time for genocide) - Volstovic Cycle/Pacific Rim crossover (or possibly just fusion?). Volstovic Cycle characters pilot jaegers and fight kaijus, no pacrim characters appear.

Dragons - Volstovic Cycle/Harry Potter crossover (...or...fusion?) I can never remember the difference between crossovers and fusions. Harry Potter characters ride dragons á la Volstovic Cycle, no Volstovic Cycle characters appear.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

yes! the full list of translations (and podfics) of my fics is here. I've had fics translated into Russian and German.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

yes. @palavapeite mentioned this but we co-wrote an absolute deranged behemoth of a 'social media' fic (really, it was a 'livejournal' fic, but same difference) back in like 2008/2009 and it was honest to god some of the best fun I've ever had writing something and also, it was a work of ART.

I have since participated in fests like big bangs and reverse big bangs where I've written or made art, which is not quite the same as co-writing. I once ran a collab fest where I co-created a comic with three friends, which we cowrote and each drew various bits for, which was a lot of fun. and! with @gkkri we co-wrote (and illustrated) a R/S fic (but really it was a Sirius & Regulus fic in R/S disguise) back in 2017 as our last hurrah to the Remus/Sirius fandom as we were both feeling like we hadn't anything left to say for this ship and let me tell you, that co-writing process was like a dream and I'm still really proud of what we made.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship? 

I don't have one??? I'm a multifandom person, I enjoy a LOT of ships for various reasons and I don't think I have an all time favourite? some ships I cycle back to over time and some ships I never even write for, just read a shitton for. like I enjoy Steve/Tony still even though I haven't written any fic for them in over a decade? and I mean, despite my misgivings about JKR and general HP fatigue, I will never not love Remus/Sirius. and so on and so forth. the beauty of fandom is that there are so many great characters and dynamics out there to love

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

er, wellllllll there's this one Matt/Foggy wip languishing in my gdocs drive that I'm not convinced I will ever finish, but I really want to. I'll cycle back to it eventually probably. I also have this one Space AU for Caius/Al that I have officially abandoned, but I still think about it!! and yet!! that wip is probably approaching a decade old at this point. I don't know man.

I only have one active fanfic wip atm and that is my current Afdeling Q wip and I WILL finish it, I swear to everything that is beautiful in this world.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I have a lot of strengths and I'm not too humble to admit it, but I think my number one strength these days is that I Do Not Care what other people think anymore, I will write whatever I damn well please, the way I want to. if other people like it: great! if they don't: okay!

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

plot sjkdgkfljsgd especially of the crime solving variety. I will never ever be a crime fiction writer. I'm also not great with action-type of plots because....well, I like reading plotty stuff but when I'm writing? I don't care, I just care about my characters and their dynamics and arcs and development and I will hang it on the thinnest scaffolding possible I can get away with to make the story go.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? 

the kind of another-language-dialogue i see in fic most often seems to be weirdly pointless or out of character, just dropped in (usually by a monolingual English speaker) who thinks it adds flavour to the character, when really, that character has never once in canon slipped into their other language in dialogue. because, well, most multilingual people don't? speaking as a multilingual person I'm far more likely to say something like 'shit what is that called in English' than just say the word in Danish. i mean, tell me you don't understand codeswitching without telling me you don't understand codeswitching.

as a counterpoint to this actually i read a Buck/Eddie fic the other day where Eddie had lines in Spanish, and that I had no issue with because a) he speaks Spanish in the canon b) with his family 3) who also speak Spanish. in the fic he spoke Spanish with his family, who also had lines in Spanish. that author did kindly provide translations but tbh I didn't check the translations because the other thing about this fic was, it was clear from context what was being said without the translations because the dialogue followed canon-levels in this regard.

generally though, my preference would be for the tried and tested "A line of dialogue here," said character A, in Language. "The dialogue continues." it gets the point across.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

band RPF. before that I was writing fanfiction without knowing it was fanfiction or what fandom was, for stuff that Didn't End The Way I Wanted It To or similar. but first actual fandom writing? band RPF. it's backed up on a secondary ao3 account now, but this shit was first posted on forums and livejournal a billion years ago.

you got up from the breakfast table, “i’m gonna go change,” you angled your head towards the door of the bedroom, “also, bucky i have some activities planned for today, so you should too.”

he nodded, picking up his plate and utensils.

four bikini options were laid out in front of you. what am i going to wear? subconsiously, you wanted to look good for bucky, or any other hot guy that happened to pass by you. but mostly bucky.

your options consisted of the floral bikini you wore last time, a lavender colored one, a sage green bralette bikini, and a light blue triangle bikini with a tropical flower.

you chose the lavender triangle bikini, it fit pretty similar to the floral one. you felt confident in how you looked, your hair still a bit messy from sleep. you slashed some tap water on it and ran your fingers through it. on top of your bathing suit you threw on a cute little linen white skirt and a flowy tank. a bit of your mid section showed, enough to induce looks but still look casual.

you quickly did a light bit of beach makeup, sprayed a bit of perfume, grabbed your beach towel and got out of the room.

“bucky, the room’s free,” you called out, preoccupied with vila, kaiya and sol’s texts.

“yeah, ok.” he replied, drying off the last of the dishes.

you packed a bag for the both of you. towels, sunscreen, water, snacks and extra clothes were what was shoved into an insanely small beach bag.

“bucky, i need an extra change of clothes for you,” you called out to the room, “we’re probably gonna get dirty.”

he grunted in reply, walking out of the door in a matter of minutes. he sported a fitted black tee with those short ass swim trunks. you know the ones that show off a guy’s whole leg. the shorts displayed his muscular thighs, along with a tattoo of a snake biting a butterfly. he threw a ratty gray-blue towel over his sholder.

how come you never noticed this tattoo?

now at this point it was becoming noticeable to him that you were inspecting him, maybe even checking him out.

“why are you looking at me like that,” he turned to face you.

“i don’t know, i just never noticed your tattoos.” you glance shifted from his eyes to a new tattoo you spotted. it kind of looked like a quote, “the snake one is pretty cool.”

his face lit up, “thanks, i recently got these yin and yang koi fish on my arm.” he showed the inside of his arm. the tattoo itself was a little bit swollen and red but you probably couldn’t tell from afar.

you only had two tattoos, one emily dickinson quote on the inside of your wrist, and the second a simple line art of flowers and leaves down your spine.

“i saw another one on your other arm, what does it say?” you asked, not trying to probe.

“oh yeah! it’s an emily dickinson quote, my sister rebecca loved her poetry.” he said, a gentle smile lifting his rough features.

“no fucking way, i have an emily dickinson quote too,” you said, a bit excited that he had something in common.

“what quote is it?” he asked.

“unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality.” you recited, having the line already memorized.

“that one is one of my favorites, mine is ‘dying is a wild night and a new road’” he repeated off of his arm, “i forgot it was there for the longest time.” he said this with a bittersweet expression.

“i didn’t know that you had a sister,” you replied “yeah, i don’t know, i don’t usually talk about her a lot,” he said, his features fell gracefully, “she passed in a car accident a few years back.”

you rubbed the spot where your dickinson quote was, “i’m sorry,” you said, looking up at him. his moonstone eyes shifted uncomfortably.

“yeah she was the best,” he said softly, “but, anyways let’s get going. i don’t want to be late for whatever you have planned for us.”

he passed you his towel to put in the bag, then led the two of you out the door. you had ordered an Uber, so the driver was already waiting for you when you got to the street. it was a small car, so the two of you were kind of squshed together in the backseat.

you both stepped out of the car and admired the view. the mediterranean was breathtaking, especially here. it was clear, yet turquoise, practically begging for you to jump in.

“scuba diving! what do you think?” you turned to bucky, asking for his opinion.

“yes, this is amazing,” he said, his sunglasses already on, “thanks.”

you led bucky down to the shore where the instructor was about to start demonstrating how to put on the gear, etc.

you took your shorts off and put on the gear. you set your clothes in the bag and placed it closer to land, so the bag would not get wet.

bucky put on his scuba gear too, and followed after you.

the boat was close to shore, tied to a pole farther to the entrance to the beach. you hopped in, bucky following after you. there were already a handful of people in the boat. three sisters, you assumed, were sitting next to each other, talking animatedly amongst them. one had light brown hair, another dark brown, and the other had pink and brown hair. you could tell they were speaking spanish. next to them were an older looking couple, the man had a salt and pepper beard and the lady had red hair with streaks of gray and white peeking through. they were talking too, but a bit more calm than the three sisters. the intructor from the shore started pushing the boat, and then hopped on. the boat engine started and the instructor began to tell the group about the islands, what fish there are, all things interesting.

you gazed out onto the water, the sky was a bit dull, but you checked the weather before and it said it was going to clear up.

the first stop to the diving trip was gorgeous, the water was turquoise and so clear. there were countless fish and sea animals.

the second stop was the same, but different fish, and the water went deeper, and the water was cooler.

the final stop was insane, there were statues almost but they were 50 ft underwater.

the tour ended around 3pm, the two of you eager to eat lunch.

you ate quickly at a street food place, and then walking back to the little bungalow.

“so…” you asked, “what did you think?”

“that was perfect in everyway,” he replied, “would relive again 10/10. but, now its my turn for a surprise trip.”

“oh god,” you sighed, “what does that mean…”

“not much, just a little dinner,” the two of you reached the door, “i found it online, and it seems like its perfect.”

“okay,” you had to put a little trust in him, after all he couldn’t be awful at planning.

Guilty Gear -Strive- Ultimate Edition 2022 ($55.99)

yes im specifically saying buy ultimate edition because it has all the dlc as of this writing. buy the base version if you want but i hate playing fighting games with incomplete rosters.

anyway this is my favorite fighting game, bar none. this is the game that after years of screwing around on a bunch of other games finally got me to really want to get better and actually play against other people. there’s a super active playerbase and at least another year of support from arcsys on the way. the best time to start playing strive was a year ago but the second best time is right now.

Idol Showdown (Free)

yes im shilling a free game here. idol showdown is a good fighting game and the result of like three years of hard work from a small team. try it out and give them some love

Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel ($4.99)

this is not a good game but it is a funny game. saber is in it.

Narrative Games

AI: The Somnium Files - $7.99

one of the finest mystery games you can play imo. maybe uchikoshi’s best work. a perfect blend of mystery, character, and style. every character and conversation is compelling in its own way and every little thing builds up to the huge moments which makes them all feel totally earned. as always uchikoshi is a genius in the way he blends his signature branching timeline style with the themes and core concepts of the game. the twists and turns this game goes down are so crazy that weeks later you’ll still be realizing how all the little things you thought were just quirks were actually foreshadowing. cannot recc this enough tbh.

Zero Escape: The Nonary Games - $11.99

another uchikoshi joint, also extremely good. ive only finished 999, the first game in this collection, but i can recc it just based on the strength of that alone. whereas somnium is a murder mystery, 999 is a visual novel about being trapped in a murder game interspliced with escape room segments. whatever you think you know you dont, 999 will take you down so many twists and turns you’ll be fucking dizzy when you’re done with it. big recc.

VA-11 HALL-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action - $10.04

i could probably talk about this game for as long as the others, even though its way way less complex. va-11 hall-a doesnt have a huge sweeping story with insane twists and massive reveals, but what it does have is an extremely personal narrative about loss, healing, and just living your life the best way you can in a horrible dystopian world. the cast of characters feel utterly real and you learn about the world they inhabit through interactions with them, rather than being infodumped by exposition. everyone has their own story and everyone is just trying to get by, including you. one of the best small scale personal narrative games ive ever played.

Night In The Woods - $9.99

another vn i would consider “small scale” but equally as impactful. nitw is a story about a disillusioned and struggling college drop out returning to her economically declining home town. nobody is secure, nobody is happy, everyone is suffering through their daily lives. you follow mae as she struggled to readjust to her childhood home and the people she left behind. until something happens that changes her priorities radically. all ill say. despite how i just made it sound, nitw is not all depressing. theres lighthearted moments and wacky days to cut through the bleak fog, as well as genuinely heartfelt moments that feel very earned. nitw is a game i think that everyone struggling through their 20s should play.

Grim Fandango Remastered ($3.79)

i know this is an old school adventure game and you might yell at me for sort of grouping it in with the VNs but i dont care. its a classic, its a beautiful game, everyone should play it. its old, it controls like shit, the puzzles are obtuse, but the experience is wonderful and memorable. its cheap as hell just go for it.

Action

Assault Spy ($4.99)

this goofy ass game is fun as hell. its a very dmc style character action with upgrades and moves to buy, and it actually has a pretty goddamn good mechanical system in place. the gameplay loop rules. only warning is this is not well optimized so watch your computer doesnt explode.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered ($40.19)

i shouldn’t even have to shill. a must play for any spider-man fan. one the best spider-man stories ever hands down. such an incredible experience seriously. i cant even say enough here, if you haven’t played this yet you should do it asap.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales ($33.49)

everything i just said for the first game goes here too. a MUST play for miles morales fans. the combat is even better than the first too. you won’t regret playing this trust me.

Marvel’s Avengers - The Definitive Edition ($5.99)

no i’m not joking. ok well i kind of am but this game is getting delisted in september. it is an unforgivably mid piece of shit but if you have an interest in game preservation or playing something so bad they’re killing it forever, well here it is. they made all the microtransactions free btw.

Tinykin ($13.75)

its like pikmin but its legally distinct! i like this game a lot, it has a very cute art style and its got easy to enjoy gameplay. i find it very relaxing. there’s a demo.

System Shock 2 ($2.49)

i will never stop shilling this game. fucking play it. its a cornerstone of video games. one of the most influential pieces ever put to pixel. you owe it to yourself to experience this if you feel any interest in it. maybe read a guide though its unforgiving if you screw around with your build.

Dead Space [2023] ($41.99)

exceptionally good. i dont have to shill the old shitty pc port of the original anymore. an A+ remake, i think it improves on the original in every conceivable way.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night ($11.99)

such a goddamn good metroidvania. its almost like the platonic ideal of a castlevania game. a true spiritual successor to SOTN. this isnt your dime a dozen soulslike vania, this is a true vania game in the best original style made by basically one of the core founders of the genre.

STAR WARS™ Knights of the Old Republic™ II - The Sith Lords™ ($3.49)

its a fuckin classic rpg. one of the best of the era. get it on pc so you can get that extended content mod they promised to import to the console version and then cancelled.

you'll notice that there was no update last week and as you can imagine, i was once again exhausted from the convention the weekend before. that was the last one of the year though! unless i get accepted last minute to another, but even if not at least i'll be a lot less stressed!

seriously i didnt even get to chill in the lake district because the travel was so bad. like 3 hours of cancellation and delays and then almost didnt even get there bad. i did however get a full refund which is great because it was like, £102. the vibe at that con was nice though, and got to pet a bunch of dogs. would reccomend LICAF to artists as long as they either live near enough to travel via bus or just have a car because man that hotel room was not worth the cost. also i heard someone getting it on in the next room.

also i've got a two week holiday in a week and a half so i am excited to be able to chill and hopefully make a backlog so i dont have to fly by seat of my pants each page! and hopefully continue working on getting sac into print. also also, i've finally made my etsy (Galaxiaprince) open internationally! didnt before because i tried looking up how customs worked while completely burnt out and was like oh reading makes my brain hurt ill just try the uk first. but anyway yeah fixed that now

happy thanksgiving everyone!!! the hockey game was so good last night I am 😭😭😭 over my favorite guy’s 1000th game celebrations. also I just love a big tumblr fandom event and it was so fun to collectively experience that with everyone!!! we got up at 5:30 this morning and have been lounging in bed for uhh—five and a half hours? lol whoops!! but I don’t feel too bad about it as I was pretty productive this morning. I did a bunch of good sustained work on my budget and my TTC timeline, then spent a couple hours reflective journaling on parenting approaches, mostly just synthesizing the books I’ve read recently and thinking about the kinds of routines I want to build. (also to my anon who asked for book recs a week or two ago: I haven’t forgotten you!! that might be a task for this weekend.)

I finally got my stolen IRS refund reissued and just used that to pay off the rest of my credit card balance huzzah!! and I’m due to receive what I hope will be a sizable vacation payout from my old job on 12/1, which I can move directly to long-term savings to replace almost all of the funds I withdrew to cover moving & lease-breaking & security deposit expenses. since I’m now finished paying down my credit card balance, I’ve also finalized the amount I will move directly into to savings each month. my original goal in taking this job was to try to live on 50-60% of my income and put the rest in savings, and I think that’s feasible barring any major unexpected expenses. I think that doing this budget planning work helps me keep my reasons for taking (and keeping) this job in perspective. it’s not forever (please god don’t let it be forever) but if I can stand to do it for 2-3 years, it’s going to put these other life plans so much more within my reach.

anyway I think what I’ve settled on is: I may move my timeline up and start trying in early January. I’ve picked my donor, I’ve set the budget & time limits I’m willing to try for (up to six cycles), I’ve had all the testing done, and I’m honestly just so ready & impatient to get started I don’t see the point in waiting. I originally picked april/may as a start date because I was still feeling a tiny bit anxious and uncertain about it but I feel like doing the research and putting in the time thinking/talking through the logistics with liz, my sister, etc has calmed my nerves. also I can’t remember if I’ve said this on the blog or not but my best friend and her husband are officially moving here in august, and it’s expressly because we want to live near each other + have kids within a year or two of each other so we can be extended family and a support system for each other in the early years. I feel like that was the last puzzle piece for me. I have my siblings here, I’ll have my platonic person (and her partner who I also love so so much) here soon, and my parents are both probably within a year of retiring/scaling back work responsibilities so they can spend more time out here. that’s a pretty good little village to start with, no?? so let’s fucking gooooooo.

okay well that was the thinking and planning I did this morning. I am doing thanksgiving at 2ish with my siblings + my other brother’s close friends who live here + their two hilarious small children. I think I will scroll for a little bit longer, do a short neighborhood walk with the dogs from 12-12:30, shower/get ready 12:30-1:30, then head over.

Imma rumble a bit about housing and money okay?

This is my second year in university and I am VERY LUCKY to be paying only 275€ rent a month (not counting bills), having to walk only 8 minutes to school and having the supermarket literally in front of me.

That being said, I share the apartment with 4 other people, we sleep in doubles, have only one small ass bathroom and the kitchen is small amd SHIT. meaning the ceiling above the counters is cracked and crumbling, and there's MOLD on half the left wall. I don't have the courage to move the counter and look at just how far it spreads. Not to mention they built the pipe system wrong and we couldn't use the heater for most of last winter.

(Bit of backstory: I found this place OUT OF PURE LUCK cuz this dude I was first looking for rooms with had seen two apartments, didn't like this one, and asked me if I was interested instead. Before this, after two months of looking, I had been almost scammed by these fuckers pretending to be an agency on housing sites, who I called for a couple apartments they were advertising. They told me I had to come in person to sort everything out. 2h 45 and a train ticket later, turns out they wanted me to pay them 250€ to "start looking for a house for the next 6 months". I fucking sprinted out the door.)

I wanted to try and find another place to stay this year, but quickly had to turn back once I saw the prices. 400 - 500€ for a fucking double, up to 800€ for a single room, and bills are always additional. My new course mates are desperate and have been trying to find a place since they got accepted (some of them got word in JULY) and I took I upon myself to contact the people in charge of my apartment for some of them since apparently THESE FUCKERS AREN'T RESPONDING CALLS OR EMAILS

And yes I have fucking proof. I called AND emailed them, leaving my course mates' details (with their permission) stating they were very urgently looking for places. I immediately received a response email. AT THE SAME TIME, under my instructions, THEY sent their own emails details contacts and all. THEY STILL HAVEN'T HEARD BACK.

School starts in 3 weeks. Now many of them will either have to pay an absurd amount of money to be a 40 minutes bus ride from school IF THEY'RE LUCKY or renounce their studies. Of which they have already paid the first 1000 something € fee. Non refundable.

Oh yeah did I mention my school costs 7500€ a year? (which it was 6800 last year and got raised) And that the only reason I can afford that is the fact my little sister doesn't want to ho to uni, so I'm using two people's worth school fund? And I still have 3 more years to go, not knowing if the piece will raise again.

We have class Monday to Saturday, 9 to 8, and sometimes 9 to 9. We're physically unable to work and those who try working either can't find anything or quit almost immediately.

I have a "budget" of around 400€ a month for bills, food and meds. I don't eat out, I don't go out for drinks, I only drink 1€ black coffee and god knows I eat just the right amount of food I need to survive. And sometimes it's not enough, and I have to fight with my parents about needing more money cuz "You can't possibly have spent it all already". And even when I show them the fucking records from my card, the same story repeats the month after.

What the fuck are we supposed to fucking do?? I know our generation will never be able to afford a house, but not even a small apartment to share with 3 to 5 other people?!?!?

This is fucking insane.

as someone who was supposed to be going to leeds festival, seeing everyone vent their frustrations made me wanna join in.

they'd been on the lineup for leeds fest since early december last year. they've hardly touched the uk since eurovision, which i partially understand because since brexit, it's expensive and tedious for artists to bring instruments etc to the uk from europe; but as someone who has adored them loyally since eurovision, who was supposed to see them in february, the leeds cancellation fucking broke my heart. leeds fest is essentially down the road for me because i live in the north, whereas next year i have to travel down to london. i'm generally someone who suppresses their emotion and barely cries, but sobbed for an hour after the announcement.

the emotional stuff is now on top of not knowing if i'll get the money back, another major headliner pulled out, meaning there's now no rock acts on the friday, but leeds fest are refusing to give refunds for those with day tickets despite the festival being materially different. i'm constantly stressing about whether the ticket will sell.

i do hope they learn from their mistakes and move away from the US management when they can, and hopefully find a manager who isn't one of their friends so it's easier to objectively stand up to him. if the next album panders to the US market, it'll be their flop era and they'll hopefully learn from that.

(also, people shouldn't worry about the london O2 gig being cancelled for not selling enough tickets. general admission is sold out and there's about 150-200 seats left at the back to sell in a venue that holds 20k, with nine months before the gig. i just don't want uk fans to panic even more.)

yeah, i have little to no hope that the new album will be good. i'm sure there will be some songs i like, because vic, i think, said in one interview that there would also be songs they wrote by themselves, prior to LA, so if that stays true, those are the only songs i'm looking forward to. but a couple of good songs doesn't make the whole album good, so that's probably gonna be my mindset going into it. let's hope my expectations are so low that they actually manage to blow me away lmao

also i haven't talked at all about it but that new song they played at circo massimo.... most of the song is good, i like the beginning of it, but there are some parts of it that just don't flow well imo (like when he sings "i don't give a fuck", there's just something off about that line. maybe the studio version will be better, idk). i honestly thought it was a genius idea to play a brand new song at circo massimo, but i was kinda disappointed it was yet another song in english. that's, what, the 4th one so far for this new era (not counting gasoline, because it will most likely not be in the album). i don't have an actual problem with their songs in english, i like iwbys and for you love, and i adore mammamia and touch me, but they've always had more songs in italian than in english on their albums (ibdv is a close 7 to 5, but still, there are more italian songs), and i'm starting to think it might the other way around this time and. i don't like it lmao

I called my Eyewear company and told them the rimless were tight cause:

They may be comfortable but glasses aren't supposed to leave marks on the side of your face. They could leave miminal marks on your nose but they shouldn't be digging into the sides of your head. These are a more comfortable head squeezer. And I've been living with head squeezers for the last year.

I canceled the order for the Oakley Overheads and had them switch it to these. The Overheads are 136 hinge to hinge. These are 137, I explained that the Beau which are also hinge to hinge 137 one was super comfy and the other were tight and in order to make them fit I need the arms spring hinges to be looser... I don't really like these but whatever... here are my new glasses:

They adjusted my order refunding me another 60$. I'm getting back about 90$. Once afterpay processes it...

Between order 1 and order 2 I'm paid up and I paid 137$ once I get my refund... atm I've overpaid but I'll get my money back soon.

Idk if I'll try to get a replacement for the rimless. They look good but they are fucking head squeezers and I really can't find my frame size. I'm likely a 138 hinge to hinge, 53-54 lense width, arms should be 138 or longer and my nose bridge can range from 16-19 depending on if they have nose pads or not...

They said I'm going to get the Oakley Overheads anyways bc they are in their final stage and once I get them to ship them back. I'll try them on and see if they fit but I can't stretch the arms and risk breaking them like I did with my Beau frames.... I'm a little excited that I get to at least try them.

Hopefully they draw out the arms on the emerge pair so they are comfy...

For 137$, I have the two Beau frames, even though one is super glued.. I have the rimless head squeezers which I will wear but I hate that once again I have lines on my face from my glasses. I have the two pairs of Ray-Bans.

I will be getting the emerge frames which I'll wear but I won't feel attractive in them... and I'll get the Oakley Overheads. If the Oakley Overheads are comfortable I'll ship back one of the Ray-Bans... if they aren't I'll cut my losses and send back the Overheads as to not fuck them over. I still feel ripped off just less ripped off...

If only I hadn't tried to make the Beau frames comfortable... if only I learned my lesson last year and just went to fucking lens crafters and got my face fitted with quality Eyewear that FITS.

I'm disappointed bc I'm not getting my black thick frames.... I've given up. I'll just wear my Ray-Bans in a very specific spot on my nose when I feel like wearing them....

Maybe next year... will be my year.

And maybe next year I'll have more than one pair that doesn't either leave lines on the side of my head or touch my cheeks...

There is hope for the emerge but only if they make those spring hinges loose.

I learned a lot about glasses fitting your face, you're supposed to be able to stick your finger under the arms and touch your temples....I can't even do that with my comfortable pairs of Beau.....

I can do it with my Ray-Bans but my cheek really does touch it if I smile or laugh unless it's legit in one very specific spot on my face....

The Beau are comfortable and my only true pair... although technically if the Ray-Bans didn't touch my cheek they have room for my finger under the arm to touch my temples but I guess my face dimensions just are not accommodated for glasses.

I know my dimensions now and unless I go to lens crafters I'm not going to have a pair that is truly comfortable with a good focal point.....

I'll still wear all of them but I feel like both me and my Eyewear Company got fucked over. I'm sitting on two pairs of Ray-Bans they don't even expect back. I'm getting the overheads prob and they won't fit..

My beaus do at least but my rimless will be worn rarely due to the marks. I don't want to go back to last year, every pair I had did that to my face...

So what if I can't fit my fingers under my Beaus and touch my temple they don't leave marks that's a win and I can laugh my ass off and my cheeks never touch them. The focal point is off but they always are with online glasses.

That's the saddest part. I don't want 500 pairs. I just want 3 that FIT MY FUCKING FACE. And I got one.

Either way I guess I'll have a small variety... I can wear the rimless sometimes, I can def wear the Beau. I can wear the Ray-Bans when I want limited facial movement...

And we will see what happen with the emerge...

I probably should adjust my order with the emerge and go to Beau after I receive the emerge. I'll get money back. I won't get money back if I replace the rimless....

I feel like everyone is fucked over and I could say Beau is worth 137$ bc they fit but the frames and lenses cost 41$ all together that's the issue...

Either way I have a lot of glasses 7 pairs in Total soon and none that fit me other than one. I'm out 137$ and I got to pretend the Beau was worth 137$ lol or that the Ray-Bans touching my cheek doesn't drive me up a fucking wall.

Gods I am so fucking pissed off right now. I ordered headphones, pretty expensive headphones, over $300 USD, early feb. They arrived broken (left speaker had painful ringing/buzzing noise). I sent an email on feb 5th, after spending a day troubleshooting them. Explained everything I did. They responded, with a list of everything that I had already tried. Told them I had done all that. They then asked for proof of purchase and order number. Gave them that. I don't hear from them for 2 fucking weeks. After sending a 3rd email they finally get back to me wanting to know if I wanted to exchange them. I asked if the new pair would have a return warranty in case they also arrived broken. They did not answer my question, instead talking about something irrelevant. This repeats 5 more times, me rewording the question and them not answering it. They finally answered my question TODAY. Just now. Saying that yes, of course, I would have 30 days to exchange the new pair if there was a problem. But I had already shipped the headphones to return them for a refund 3 days ago.

Every email they send me takes 1-5 days.

It has been 34 days since I first contacted them.

They send an email, I immediately respond, and then don't hear back from them for several days. I am fucking pissed.

I have used logitech for pretty much all my tech accessories for the last 16 years. I am never going to pay for another logitech product.

Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was a near-miss for me. It was immediately on my radar for three reasons:

It's a tactics game and I often love those.

It's a non-Nintendo developer putting out a Mario game

Mario has a fucking GUN.

That last one isn't typically a plus in my book, but Nintendo is pretty protective over their mascot, and the idea of Nintendo allowing Mario to be out there capping fools (albeit with guns that look like toy ray guns) was wild. Kingdom Battle was okay. It's a game that I wanted to enjoy a little more than I did. The most memorable part of the game was the Mario diss track that the game's opera singer boss lays down.

It's-a-me and Let's-a-go are the only words you know

5 years later Ubisoft released Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope to a reception of resounding indifference. There are a few reasons for this I think:

There was little marketing for the game. It came and went pretty quietly

Rabbids are dumb.

Tactics games just don't hit in a mainstream way.

What are the biggest tactics games in terms of revenue and widespread success? XCOM? Three of the best games released in 2022 were tactics games; Midnight Suns and Sparks of Hope both went over like a lead balloon, and I would bet that Square Enix is disappointed with the sales of Tactics Ogre Reborn.*

But I'm not here to mourn the lost bonuses of studio executives, I'm here to talk about videogames, and Sparks of Hope is a damn good one. A strange one, but good. It's exactly what you want out of a sequel to an almost great game: they took all the little details that were not quite there with Kingdom Battle and tightened them up in Sparks of Hope. The overworld is no longer a slog you have deal with in order to get to the combat. There are little optional goodies everywhere, and the puzzles are generally pretty inoffensive.

Gone are the weapon upgrades, replaced with the game's titular sparks. These goofy little star guys can be equipped like gear, and each grants both an active ability and a passive one. Some are simply "Do wind/electricity/fire/ice damage in an area and also you are immune to that same damage type." You get into stuff like "Lure all enemies in range toward you" or "Become invisible" or "Summon a big Donkey Kong rabbid to knock all the bad guys away from you."

Each member of your group can equip 2 sparks and, paired with each character's unique abilities and skill trees, this lends the game a real "roll your own" feel. You have a good assortment of snipers, support, bruisers, and a whole mess of stuff between. The sparks let you either specialize your characters, or cover weak spots if need be. Bowser isn't a healer, but I can make it so he is able to put shields on his team, and rez them in a pinch.

Each character has skills trees, and the game lets you refund and reassign skill points freely outside of combat. This is another key part of the freedom in Sparks of Hope. The developers did so much so make all the details surrounding the core gameplay as frictionless as possible. You can swap Sparks, refund skill points, and your entire roster levels up at the same rate whether they're in combat or not.

That freedom extends to the combat as well. Each character has a movement range and 2 action points. They can also do one dash (slam into an enemy to deal a little damage and briefly knock them off their feet) and one air jump (one teammate can launch another into the air like setting in volleyball). There are no hexes or grids here, the movement is open and fluid. You can keep moving around until your turn ends or you use an attack, and you can swap freely between your team members until you decide to end your turn.

This leads to an ocean of possibilities that could be overwhelming depending on how you are wired as a player. There's a lot of "I'm going team jump Mario off Rabbid Peach, then have him return the favor so she can reach that enemy way over there. I'll use her AOE heal while she's close to both Mario and Luigi, then I'll put them both into overwatch so that when she runs up and dashes into that baddie and pops him up in the air, they'll both get an overwatch shot and take him out this turn." I could have handled that a dozen different ways, but I came up with a plan and went with it.

It often feels like you COULD stare at the board for 5 minutes and deduce the most optimal course of action. But I was able to get by on making quick plans and gut calls, and the game is designed in such a way that I never felt like I was being punished for not finding the One Optimal Way to Play. It feels like you can mostly get by with whatever team comp you roll in with if you play smartly. There have been times where I realize I shouldn't have done that, but there are usually enough options in the toolbox that I can course correct.

The biggest bummer about Sparks of Hope is that it feels like it could have been even better. The game gives you a handful of Mario characters, and handful of rabbid versions of them - so you have Mario and Rabbid Mario, Luigi and Rabbid Luigi, and so on. The rabbid characters are actually charming and well written. They're goofy and dumb, but in a way that makes me roll my eyes, sigh, and say "Okay, you got me." Rabbid Mario cracks me up every time he quips in his borderline-offensive Italian accent. They're not fantastic, but they're Good Enough. They're fun.

Which is more than I can say for the Nintendo characters in the game. We get little more than a Mario waHOO, a Bowser growl, or a Luigi Oh no! They're flat, nothing characters. I'm sure this was Nintendo being extremely strict about how their IP is represented, but if the writers made me like rabbids characters even a little bit, I bet they could have done a bang up job if they were turned loose with the whole cast.

Lastly, I'm still baffled by the character Edge. It feels like they tried to make a Cloud Strife rabbid. She's brooding and serious and just lame as hell. Do the developers know? Am I supposed to be like "This rabbid is cool as fuck?" or am I supposed to groan and make a jerkoff motion every time she speaks?
