But it’s nothing they can’t handle– Oh, no! Now she just bit someone’s hand off, she’s speaking in a deeper tone, and she’s apologizing profusely as she hangs from the ceiling. She might be way out of their league after all.

These past twelve months have been… something else. The snap that lasted for five years messed up everything that the troublesome trio worked for, which was to rebrand their business: Nelson, Murdock & Page. But hey, I guess in a… morbid(?) sickly? depressed? way, it did work out in the end. Business was pretty much booming, especially now that everyone who blipped was trying to get their homes or anything else they own back under their names and care. Now, not to toot their own horns, but they say they’re pretty good at multitasking.
Until…
They weren’t.
As they get busier with each passing day, the trio realizes that they’re stretching themselves so far thin that it’s starting to affect them. So after some intense conversations, they decided to hire a helping hand.
Y/N L/N.
Their new assistant that was just shy of seventeen and on her way to graduating high school. She was nervous, of course, when they first met her, but the nerves soon settled and she turned out to be a very charming person that they all agree they loved to have in the office. She was extremely helpful and willing to learn, always on her toes when they needed something, always organized and had everything ready when they had a case or a client coming in. None of them could ask for a better person in the position. Even though the girl was…
Well…
Kind of quirky.
Like she always prefers it cold, no matter what the temperature is. Karen notices she was barely wearing anything when they first met. It was in the middle of winter, and the girl was just wearing an oversize sweatshirt and a thin beanie. At first a bit of a motherly instinct took over and wondered if the poor girl just didn’t have anything to wear at home, or maybe couldn’t afford anything. Y/N eventually apologized and laughed saying that she just prefers this weather more than the heat. But despite that, Karen did gift her a warmer coat that the teen decided to wear (even if it felt forced).
.
“Oh, you didn’t have to do that Miss Page.” Y/N said once she was handed over the nice coat.
“Please, I insist. I know you said you like the cold, but I would rather not see you sick.” Karen said, as the girl smiles and nods, promising to wear it until Spring.
.
Then it was the food. Now, Franklin Percy “Foggy” Nelson loved to eat just like any other person out there. But if there was an eating competition to suddenly spawn inside his office he would surely lose to his assistant. The kid was… a freaking bottomless pit. Just as Karen had suspected Y/N might be on the poor side, Foggy thought the same when he brought take out for lunch and the kid nearly ate everything on the table. She did it in a mannerful way but still (He’s surprised she didn’t inhale the table). So out of worriedness he started bringing her lunch, and the one day he forgot, she brought her own “five course” meal of sandwiches and sides.
.
“Maybe… she’s just a growing kid.” Karen once said as he shook his head.
“Don’t girls go through puberty early? There’s no way Y/N’s still growing.” He boasted as the blonde tried another excuse that he shot down quickly. “Nope! Matt! Can’t you tell?”
“Foggy, Matt is not about to smell nor hear if the poor girl is going through puberty!”
“Karen, come on–”
“NO!!”
.
The conversation ended up being wrapped up and placed in the back of the shelf for now, but occasionally it’ll come up when the girl polishes off something huge by herself (And everytime Karen proceeds to hit Foggy over the head with her shoe as Matt tries not to laugh).
Then there was the human lie detector, Matt Murdock and his tales of Miss L/N. When he first met her of course he was a little on edge, I mean he was still learning to not leave his guard up all the time after promising Foggy and Karen he was going to do better and be trustworthy. The girl was nervous during the interview, but managed to win over their hearts about halfway through yet…
Matt couldn’t shake what his senses were picking up.
On her first day of work she seemed cool as a cucumber, nothing to worry about. However her heartbeat was… strange. It was pulsing like any other healthy human being, but there were times where it would randomly accelerate. Like she would just be stapling papers together and it would pick up speed like a racehorse. A few times he feared she was having a heart attack before it went away.
The other thing he notices, and to follow Karen’s observation, the girl does tend to run rather hot. And when she does she would either shed off an extra layer or turn the tiny fan on her desk in the middle of a snow storm.
.
Hmm, maybe she’s just a natural furnace. He told himself once, recalling that his father was someone who always seemed to stay warm (but even he wasn’t crazy enough to go outside half dressed in -10 degree weather).
.
Then lastly, he realizes the girl likes to talk to herself quietly. At first he thought maybe she had an earbud in and was talking to someone, or maybe she was mouthing the lyrics of a song but… no. Sometimes it’s even hard for him to pick up what she’s saying ‘cause she’s so quiet, but the couple times he does hear her it sounds like she’s scolding herself.
.
Matt tilts his head, slightly zoning out on the conversation him and his partners were having as Y/N was in their kitchenette. From the smell of it she was making herself coffee and muttering and even jerking at something or someone that wasn’t even there.
“Shut up, I’m not eating that– No I’m not– You’re not either.” He hears her eye roll and almost sighs. “You’re not going to die, stop being a baby– Don’t call me the baby, you numbnut– Hey, you fucking bastard, I’ll–”
And then he kind of tuned out when he noticed Foggy was asking him a question.
.
A million different scenarios went through his head of what it could be. One that he’s just sticking with right now is she’s just a very imaginary kid. The other lingering thoughts weren’t so innocent. Someone’s home life could affect certain things. Maybe it’s–
“So what shall we do to celebrate?” Foggy said out of the blue in the present day. The sun was out shining, the weather was cool and just right, everything was blooming peacefully just as Spring should be. The blond looked between the two perplexed adults before gasping. “Don’t tell me you all forgot?”
Karen glanced in Matt’s direction, lost as well. “Uh, remind us again?” She asked, sheepishly.
“Oh, come on guys! It’s our anniversary!” He throws his hands in the air. “This marks the full year of the grand reopening of Nelson, Murdock & Page!”
Matt’s eyebrows shot up above his glasses in surprise. “Is it April 24th already?”
“Yeah! A full year, baby! We fucking did it! We brought this extinct beast of a place back to life.” Foggy exclaims, making Karen laugh. “We need to celebrate.”
“And how so, Mr. Nelson?” The woman asked, curious to what he had to say.
“That’s what I’m trying to find out. Maybe a nice dinner and a club.”
“Aren’t we too old for clubbing?”
He raises an eyebrow. “Who says that?”
“Says the guy who pulled his hamstring running up the stairs.” Matt quips with a grin, as Karen hides another laugh in her hand.
“Hey!”
“Half-Joking.” Then he perks up. “Y/N is here.”
“Already?” Foggy looks at his watch. “She’s really early.”
“Do you think something’s wrong?” Karen asked, mother henning again. “Matt?”
“I’m not picking up on anything.” The blind lawyer replies, truthfully. “She’s coming. Relax.”
The teenager opens the door, her usual blouse and skirt with her backpack on her shoulder. She looked like she was in thought as she greets them with a smile. “Good morning.”
“Morning.” Matt and Karen greet in unison as Foggy cracks the ice.
“Hey, Y/N/N. You’re early.”
“Uh, yeah, sorry. My building’s power went off and I couldn’t cook anything so I just went to a diner. Guess I overestimated how much time I needed to eat.” She replies, her heart steady. “Is it okay if I start early?”
“That’s fine, there’s probably not much to do though.” Matt says, as she sets her stuff down on her desk.
“Whatever you got I’ll do.”
Foggy’s concern washes away and goes back to his bubbly self. “Are you free tonight, Y/N?”
“Um… yeah. Why?”
“Well, today marks our anniversary of getting this place up and running again and we want to celebrate with maybe dinner at least. Our treat.”
“Dinner?” The teenager looks concerned. “Are you sure it’s okay for me to tag along? I’m just your assistant.”
“Nah, don’t use that talk.” He waves her off. “You’ve helped us a lot these past few months. You’re one of us. Right, guys?”
“Of course she is.” Karen said, her red lips curling upwards. “We would be all over the place if you hadn’t helped organize when we got so overwhelmed.”
“And customers are always complimenting you on how wonderful you are with them.” Matt adds, making the teenager blush.
“Yeah, kiddo. You’re great.” Foggy says, throwing his arm around her with pride. “Keep this up for a few more months and… maybe we’ll add your name to the plaque.”
She laughed. “Your business will officially be a mouthful to remember.”
“Hey, it was mouthful before Karen came in, we might as well keep rolling with it.” He shrugs. “So what do you say? Dinner at least?”
“I can do dinner.”
“Fantastic! Where shall we go?”
And that was pretty much the only thing they talked about for the rest of the day.
•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
“Are you sure this is the right address?” Foggy asked for the third time tonight as he hitched along for the ride. He was the person you called a… backseat driver (but he has every right to do so at this point).
“Yes, Foggy. I’m just following the directions on my phone.” Karen replies, slightly irritated, but also a little bit worried (like she’ll admit that to him just yet).
“‘Cause this is a really bad neighbourhood.”
“I know, Foggy.”
“Is it really that bad?” Matt asked, after listening to his surroundings. He didn’t really hear that much going on outside the vehicle.
“It’s… extremely sketchy.” Foggy says, with a sigh. “It’s like one of those places they tell you not to go after dark.”
“That bad?”
“Yeah, and we close pretty late. Do we really make Y/N walk through this?”
Matt’s eyebrows raise up, amusement on his face. “Sounds like someone’s going to be her chauffeur soon.”
“Don’t tempt me, Matthew. I’d consider. Or we all pitch in and buy her a car.”
“Sure she knows how to drive?”
“Or better question–” Karen cuts in while making another turn. “Maybe you should talk to her parents first about this concern before we start gifting our assistant with stuff? Maybe she’s not allowed to have a car? Or even to drive?”
“What seventeen year old isn’t allowed to drive?” Foggy asked, confused.
“I mean, I wasn’t allowed to drive at all until I was an adult.”
“What? Why?”
“Foggy I was what you called uh… ‘wild child’, I’m not exactly a saint you know.”
Foggy sighs and flicks his attention to the backseat. “Matt, would you have driven a car if you could?”
“Who says I haven’t?” The blind man replies with a grin that made Foggy not want to question it.
The blond man throws his hands up. “I give up. Naysayers, all of you.”
“What are we ‘naysaying’?” Karen asked, with a chuckle.
“I’m not saying anything.”
“Oh my god.” She shakes her head and parks the car along the curb. Just as she was about to snatch her phone off the dash, a report came up. She quickly reads over the headline and frowns. “Hey, did you hear about those people who disappeared a few days ago? Rumors saying they were special forces?”
“The ones that were going door to door down on 36th?” Matt asked, hearing about it on the news and even word about it at night. Even some criminals he ran into that night thought it was strange and found them suspicious.
“Yeah, those. Apparently they just turned up. Parts of them.”
Foggy’s face scrunched up. “Ew.”
“Someone hacked them up?” Matt asked, worried about a possible new killer on the loose.
“The strange thing is, no. From what it says here it looks like their limbs were chewed off.”
Foggy made a gagging noise now. “Ugh. Great. Now we have a cannibal in the Kitchen. That’s just great–” He opens the car door. “More reasons to get Y/N a car.” His friends shake their heads and get out also.
“You know, you’ll make a great father one day.” Matt says, getting the middle finger.
The three of them buzzed themselves into the building, going up to the second floor to the third apartment in. It wasn’t as luxurious as the apartment Foggy shared with his fiancée, but it was definitely on the same level as Matt’s: -Not-in-the-safest-of-places-and-was-the-“cheapest”-on-the-block- They definitely felt wary of wearing their nice and expensive clothes out here.
Karen was the one who knocked and got a response.
“She’s alone.” Matt said afterwards, getting the woman to check her watch.
“I guess her parents work the nightshift?” Foggy said, slightly worried. They didn’t get the chance to talk about it when the door swings open. The teenager opens up a nice, simple purple dress paired with a blue jean jacket and flats.
She smiles. “Hope you found the place okay.” She replies, greeting them and locking their door behind her. “Seriously, you guys didn’t have to drive to get me.”
“Oh, we don’t mind.” Karen says, honestly.
“Are we still planning on dinner?”
“Of course. You hungry?” Matt asked, making her laugh out of embarrassment.
“Heck yeah, I am.” She said, making them giggle.
“Well then, after you, Ladies.” He gestures for them to go first.
“Oh, such a gentleman.” Karen replies, starting the trek off, smiling and pulling their assistant along for the ride.
They started chit chatting about the place they were going to go, Foggy boasting about how good the food was the last time he went (Now frank that was pre-blipped, so fingers crossed it’s still as good as back then). As they started descending down the stairs, Matt’s cane unfortunately got caught into a hole that was forming in the wood and was falling forward. To his surprise, Y/N was the one to react extremely quickly and place her hand on his chest to stop his fall.
“Shit, you okay?” She said, as he regained his balance from her strength.
“Uh, I’m…” And then he trails off when he catches a whiff, the smell of dried blood just beneath her fingertips. The chilling part of this was that it was NOT her blood. He swallows, and forces a smile. “Yeah, I’m fine. Thanks for the catch.”
She frowns apologetically. “I’m sorry, I probably should have warned you about the stairs. They’ve been falling apart for a while. If you stay to the left you’ll miss most of them.”
“Noted.” And then they continued again with Matt being careful…
.
.
.
And it was not just about the stairs.
•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
“Sure I can eat anything?” Y/N asked, as she scanned the menu over again.
“Of course, our treat.” Karen reassures for the hundredth time.
“I know it’s your treat, and I appreciate it. But–” She flips the menu towards them. “Have you seen the dollar signs for this place?”
“Well, I can’t exactly ‘see’ anything.” Matt replies, feeling his assistant give him ‘the look’. He hoped he sounded sarcastic and not rude (he was trying to push away what he smelled earlier and enjoy the night (And not be a paranoid freak again).
“Mr. Murdock–”
“Matt, kiddo.” Foggy says, lightly tapping her shoulder. “How many times did we tell you you can drop the formalities? It’s been months.”
Y/N blushes. “Sorry, habit.” She replies, only to mumble something under her breath two seconds later that everyone kind of ignored. “I’ll shut up and figure out what to eat.”
“That’s the spirit.”
The group eventually ordered their food and soon slipped into a nice conversation. Between some fun exchanges between the law trio or funny memories from their childhoods, it eventually led to laughter.
“I never realized how big your family was, Foggy.” Y/N said, intrigued by the chaos of the Nelson family.
“And I swear it just keeps growing. It’s a little baseball team at this point.” He replies, smiling.
“Does anyone else have a sibling?”
“I had a brother, but he’s passed.” Karen explains, with a sad smile.
“Only child.” Matt replies, with a head tilt.
“What about you, Y/N? Any siblings?”
She shakes her head. “Just myself. I kind of wish I had a sibling though. It does get lonely at home sometimes.”
“Well… it’s not too late to ask your parents for one.” Foggy jokes, half heartedly; It causes Matt to nearly spit out his drink, Karen scolding him and Y/N chuckling behind her hand. “Don’t kill me! It’s just a joke.”
“Franklin Nelson.” Karen warns like she was his nagging mother, and kicks his shin.
“Ouch, Karen, geez.”
Y/N smiles, amused. “I don’t mind, really.”
“But still, most people I meet here want more than one kid. I’m actually surprised you’re an only child, Y/N.” Matt said, being honest, which suddenly got her heart rate to pick up, but not in the racehorse kind of way he had been hearing. The teenager had stayed quiet for a moment before she shrugged, trying to shake it, or them, off.
“My mom’s not really in the picture anymore, not for a long time actually. I just really have my dad, but he’s always working. So, to be honest, I’m on my own. I don’t think he even realizes I have a job.” She replies, taking the last sip of her drink while avoiding eye contact. She could feel the concerned stares on her making her feel uncomfortable.
“Y/N, that’s not right.” Karen said, worriedly.
“It’s… fine. I’m used to it, you know?”
“Just because you’re fine with it, doesn’t mean it is.” Foggy replies, brows pushed together, distress wrinkles forming. “You know, if something’s up or wrong, you can tell us anything. We’re here for you, you know?”
“Not everything though…” She said, frowning (Her heartbeat picking up again, which was enough for Matt to start questioning what she actually means).
Just before anything else could be said, the waiter came over to drop off their refills and took the empty appetizer plate away. “Your food will be out shortly.” He said, and they thanked him.
“Man, I’m starving. The wait better be worth it.” Foggy said, after a second.
“I know, right? I know it’s been awhile, but I don’t remember it taking this long.” Karen admits, stirring the lemon around in her ice tea.
Y/N starts to take a sip of her new drink and pauses, like halted to an immediate stop. Matt picks the way her whole demeanor changes from nervousness to anger, and mutters, “It’s coke. It’s fine…”
What are you hiding, Y/N? Matt wonders as he takes a sip of his own beverage, worried out of his mind for what could be happening to her. What was happening at home that you didn’t even want to talk about it?
But as soon as that red wine tickled down his throat he immediately knew something was wrong.
He couldn’t even taste it or smell it, but he knew there was something mixed inside that wasn’t supposed to be in there.
He immediately feels all his remaining senses start to go wack and before he could even say a word, Y/N beat him to it.
“Hey! We have to throw up!” She says, shooting up to her wobbly feet. “The drinks were–”
And then she proceeded to crash back into her chair, her face falling onto her dining mat. Karen calls out her name before passing out as well.
“Uh… M-Matt…?” Foggy calls out, struggling to stay awake. “W-what just…”
Matt hears him render unconscious as well and tries to fight it off the best he could, but he knew it was useless when his whole body started to grow numb, and he cussed under his breath from it.
.
.
.
And the last thing he sensed was their waiter standing over their table smiling like the cheshire cat.
•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
When the four of them came to, they all had splitting headaches that made it almost hard to even realize where they were. Tied to individual chairs and under some “interrogation” lighting in some strange, seemingly unknown, building.
“Ugh… where are we?” Karen asked, looking around with a slight squint.
“Warehouse district.” Matt replies, after a split second of analyzing. “I recognized the smell.”
Foggy clears his throat before whispering, “Uh, Matty, might not want to out yourself to our assistant here yet.”
The blind vigilante completely forgot that Y/N didn’t know his secret and held his tongue. Luckily, it seems like she was preoccupied with her worries, making some weird faces only two people present could see. Well… maybe a third now because some random ass man wearing what looks like tactical equipment (minus its helmet) comes in through a door.
Baldy (yeah we’re calling him that) looks disgusted and rather annoyed to even be here, as he stands before each of them before spewing, “Where is it?”
Yeah, no ‘Hi’, ‘Hello’, or ‘Good Afternoon’, just straight to the fucking point that nobody even knows what it’s about.
The adults looked at each other, going into overprotective mode.
“Who are you?” Matt asked, ready to start listening for clues (and silently try to get out of his restraints).
“Not any of your business.”
“Why are we here? Why did you need us?”
Baldy said nothing, instead directing his attention to the bound teenager. “Where is it?”
Y/N blinks, clearly confused. “Where is what?”
“The thing.”
Another blink. “What thing?”
His jaw clenches, irritated. “The thing you stole from us.”
She scoffs. “I don’t even know who you are.”
“For fuck’s sake–”
“What is going on?” Foggy cuts in, bitterly.
“Who are you people?” Karen asked, same expression as his.
“The people who want our stuff back.” Baldy replies, shrilly too. “Our boss has been desperately looking for it ever since it went missing. We know she has it.”
“How do you know she took it?” Karen asked, maternal mode kicking in once more and ready to throw hands if necessary (I mean, did this guy even have any evidence?).
“Her school was required to go on a field trip to our company, and soon after, our… subject disappeared and we know one of those kids took it. Took us a while, but we finally tracked down who it was.” He jabs his finger at the girl. “You.”
“Y/N–” The blonde woman looks her way.
“Subject?” Matt asked, turning the interrogation around. He feels everyones’ gazes on him now as he tries analyzing the situation. “First you say ‘thing’ and now you say ‘subject’. Are you saying Y/N stole a person?”
“Matt–” Foggy warns under his breath, urging him to tread carefully.
“I wouldn’t call it a person.” Baldy said, feeling the blind man’s intense stare.
“Then what is it again?”
“Matt–” Karen tries now.
Baldy holds his tongue. “Listen, Blindly–”
“So what’s this ‘subject’ Y/N supposedly stole?” Matt pressured, feeling the man’s blood spike.
“You need–” He pulls his gun out. “To shut the fuck up.”
“Matt!/Hey!” Karen and Foggy yelled in unison, their racing hearts pouncing in their friend’s ears. But the Murdock stays as calm as he could be, tuning them out to focus on the gun on hand.
“I would hold that spicy tongue of yours, and let ME do the talking.” Baldy continues, getting silence as an answer. “Good. Now–” He redirects the barrel at the teenager. “Talk.”
Y/N’s eyes widened just as the adults started yelling again.
“Hey!” Matt snarled, thinking the gun was going to be trained on him the whole time. He tries giving the most intimidating look he could muster with his blind orbs showing. “Don’t fucking point that at her.”
“Yeah! You really gonna kill a kid?!” Foggy snaps, getting the man’s attention.
“What the fuck’s wrong with you?!” Karen adds, making Baldy’s eye twitch at their comments.
“Listen, motherfuckers.” He snaps, a craze look on his face. “I will do whatever needs to be done. If that includes bathing my hands in red, then so be it.”
She shakes her head, furious. “You’re a sick, twisted, human being, you–”
“I’m sorry…” Y/N blurted out of the blue, suddenly looking really pale and distant. Her boss unknowingly hears her heart start picking up like a rabbit, and her blood pressure starts spiking (not to mention she was starting to run like a furnace).
Badly looks her way again and scoffs. “What? You scared?”
“Not of you, but for you.” She swallows. “You really might not want to point the gun at me, it’s upsetting him.”
He tilts his head, confused. “Upsetting who?”
“You need to leave.” She pleads, her (Y/E/C) eyes starting to change to an odd color.
“What the fuck are you talking about?”
“Seriously, leave, please–”
He starts to sweat and presses the gun into her head more. “What are you fucking talking about?!”
“Leave! He’s–” Then her body stood stiff, and her fingers started to twitch, and then… her voice got super deep. “I’m pissed off.”
The trio widened their eyes at how scary and inhuman she sounded, which was enough for Baldy to start panicking, thinking of the worst.
“Enough with the theatrics!!” He snapped, trying to regain control. “I’m–”
And then nobody expected this next.
If you told anyone you were going to watch the girl get engulfed in black goo, and a monstrous face to form in her place then they wouldn’t just bat an eye and walk away because it sounded like insanity.
It became even more insane when the face suddenly bit the man’s forearm off clean and swallowed it whole, along with the hand pistol.
An ear piercing scream erupted from the back of his throat as blood pooled from his remaining limb. He stumbled backwards as the substance from her body disappeared, Y/N reacting with a look of horror on her own features.
“Oh, my god!!” She screamed. “Oh, my god! I’m sorry! I’m so sorry!!”
“What the fuck!!!” He yelled back, baffled just like everyone else in the room.
“I’m so, so, so sorry!! I told him not to do it! He never listens!! I–”
Then a black tentacle comes out of her skin and whips the man into a wall, causing another scream from her and even the trio. The adults could only just watch/listen to it unfold, no clue to what’s happening.
“Oh, my god– Fuck!!” Y/N says, shutting her eyes shut tightly like she was in pain. “I told you not to do that!! Why did you– Ah!!”
Her bosses watch as her body stiffens again, eyes glassing back over to purple before slowly fading to white. Then, the tentacles came back out to smash the chair she was in, bringing her to her knees. The goo was started to cover her form again, prompting her to ask the question,
“Venom… What are you– Saving your life. And theirs too.”
Then the door bursts open again, this time with a crowd of other people dressed just like Baldy, except that had a little more artillery. Suddenly, the trio watches as Y/N jumped and dangled from the ceiling, the red lasers immediately pinpointing on her.
“FIRE!!” Someone shouted, and the bullets started flying.
Then their little assistant disappears again, replaced by the face with big white eyes and a wide mouth full of spike, and a tongue that was licking its lips with delight from the bullets ricocheting off of him. Karen screamed at the sound, and they all buried their faces into their shoulders for protection just as the beast let out its battle cry.
It started crawling faster towards the crowd, hunger in its face before it suddenly stopped halfway. The beast let out a huge sigh, muttering, “Fine.”
It then started grabbing whatever it could get a hold of and fling it towards them like a game of extreme darts. One by one they started to fall, one by one they were getting broken ribs and blacking out, one by one they were–
Then a flash grenade was suddenly underneath it and exploded.
The beast roared in pain from the sound, the goo vibrating and then dissolving at the snap of fingers, causing the teenager to resurface and fall to the floor.
Matt definitely heard her ankle snap from the fall despite his own ears ringing, and called out her name. The girl cries out, and hugs her leg as she squeezes her eyes shut to block the tears from flowing. Just as the noise started to settle, it was about to become a whole lot worse. Just as the last remaining attacker was about to shoot the poor girl dead, with Karen and Foggy shouting their pleas, the vigilante managed to to unloosen the last knot from his wrist, springing to his feet and chucking the chair straight at him.
Matt lets out a breath he was holding before his instincts kicked in again. He quickly unties Foggy from his chair, saying, “Get Karen.”
“Right.”
He sprints over to the girl, getting down to her level. “Y/N?”
She lets out a groan, cracking open her eyes, slight shock upon seeing him. “M-Matt?”
“Hold still, I’ll pick you up.”
“H-How did you get out? Or throw a chair so accurately?”
Well shit.
He really wasn’t thinking about his secret ID at that moment. Just the thought of making sure his assistant wasn’t going to die on his watch.
He bites his lip. “Y/N, I’m–” His gaze snaps towards the door where he could hear footsteps approaching. A lot of them. “Shit. There’s more. We have to–”
“I-I have to get you out.” She croaks, rolling herself to be on all four. “It’s my fault you’re involved in this.”
“Y/N, you broke your ankle, you can’t do anything else.”
“But…” She groans again and then slowly lobs her head in his direction, a smug tugged across her lips. “But I insist, Mr. Murdock.”
And before he could say a word, the beast reappeared and lifted him straight off his feet, along with Karen and Foggy who yelped in surprise. Suddenly they found themselves running at an incredible speed, prayers leaving their mouths just as they broke through a window and free falled down.
•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°
Not even sure where they ended up but it was completely unoccupied and covered by the shadows of the night. The beast had set the weathered adults down against the wall before doing the same; the body disappearing back to the teeanger who fell right on her bum. She lets out a shaky breath, closing her eyes like she did earlier, trying to hold the pain in.
“Oh, my god, Y/N, your ankle.” Karen manages to say once the shock ran out (And that was for a while).
Y/N smacks her lips, grinding her teeth, replying, “I-It’s fine. It’ll be fine in a minute. I advise not looking.”
“What do you mean?” Foggy asked, eating his words as he witnessed her ankle snapping right back into place causing him to gag and avert his gaze. “Oh, hell…”
“T-Told ya.” She mutters and then sighs.
Silence fell over them, the trio all kind of looking at one another before deciding it was time to address the elephant in the room. Or whatever that thing was.
Foggy clears his throat, shifting his weight around. “So…”
“I’m sorry.” Y/N said, opening her eyes and looking at them with guilt. “I… I never wanted you guys to see that.”
“Well, I can see why.” He mumbles, getting a smack in the shoulder by Karen. “Ow!”
“So what is it?” Matt asked, straight to the point and curious, actually (and concerned too now that he’s realized this girl’s got no control over whatever it is).
Another sigh as Y/N pushes herself to stand. “I don’t know.”
“What do you mean?”
“Exactly that. I don’t know.” She crosses her arm uncomfortably. “I went on a mandatory field trip for school to this lab, and… some of my classmates begged me to go ‘behind the scenes’ with them. I honestly didn’t know what to expect, except that the only thing back there was this container with a tiny blob in it.”
She frowns. “One thing led to another and it broke, but I had no idea that… this blob got absorbed into me.” She throws one of her hands up. “I honestly thought I was going crazy for several days when I could hear shit in my head, and when my appetite went through the roof. And then…”
“Then… what?” Matt said, sensing her discomfort.
“I got mugged. Well… attempted mugging until… Venom came out.”
“Venom?” Karen asked, eyebrow raised.
“That’s… what he calls himself. The thing you saw.” Y/N starts nervously playing with her hands. “Anyway, the mugger didn’t do much since– you know– uh…”
“Let me guess, he bit the guy’s arm off?” Foggy says, as she shrugs.
“More like… above the neck…” Then she gets the shocked stares again. “Okay, in my defense, I have no control over that. I didn’t even know that Venom attached himself to me. I…” She groans. “I just ran away after that! I didn’t know what to–” She then pauses like she is listening.. “You what? – You finished him off?”
Now it was her turn to have her pupils blown wide. “When? I don’t remember you doing that? – You did it when I was asleep?! – Oh, ho! That is not consensual whatsoever! We talked about this!” She scowls. “No, you quit complaining, you parasite!”
Y/N groans again, this time into her hands. “Ugh! He’s so annoying sometimes!”
“This is the strangest thing I think I’ve ever witnessed.” Foggy said, running a hand through his locks. “And aliens attacked New York.”
“Technically, Venom’s an alien.”
“Oh, my god.” He holds the sides of his head. “It’s ‘Invasion of The Body Snatchers’.”
“Foggy.” Karen tries to get him to calm down.
“So you just decided to live with this… Venom guy?” Matt asked, not really sure how to ‘perfectly’ respond to this situation. I mean for the many years he’s fought in Hell’s Kitchen, he’s never experienced something like this before.
“It’s kind of hard to get rid of him. He’s… persistent, I’ll give you that.” Y/N replies, with a small smile. “If I’m being honest, it was around the time you guys accepted me for an interview. I was more worried about acing that than dealing with a vicious conscience.” Then it fades. “Homelife not exactly… easy, so I guess it was nice to have someone to talk to. In a crazy kind of way.” A sigh. “I had no idea that he was important.”
“Are you going to give him back now that you know?” Karen asked, worried at what might come if she doesn’t.
“That’s the thing, If I give him back, they know who I am, and you saw what happened tonight. They’ll kill me no matter what.”
“Like hell I’m going to let that happen to you.” Matt says, confidently as he places a gentle hand on her shoulder (he could hear her pulse spiking at what she had said). “We’re going to figure this out. Don’t you worry, Y/N.”
She shakes her head. “I-I can’t ask you to do that.”
“Then don’t ask me.”
“You almost got hurt because of me! I’m not letting you put your life on the line for me. I can figure this out on my own.”
“Y/N, I’m a lawyer, you should know by now I don’t take ‘no’ for an answer easily.” His lips tug upwards, trying to make the best reassuring look he could make. “I’m going to help you–”
“We’ll help you.” Karen corrected.
“Yeah. We’ll help you, don’t you worry.” Matt faces his old roommate. “How long’s Marci out of town for?”
“Uh, next week. Six days to be exact.” Foggy says, after quick thinking.
“Good. We don’t have to worry about her safety.” Matt goes quiet, using his senses to figure out where they are before they move. “Alright, let’s go to my place.” He gestures for everyone to follow, his friends were, but not his assistant who was perplexed.
“Wait.” She blurts out, stopping them. “Shouldn’t we try finding somewhere else? It might not be smart to go to your own home.”
“It’s fine. It’s where we need to be for our next step.”
“Next step?” She asks, watching him start walking away again. “Which is…?”
.
.
.
“There’s someone I’d like you to meet.”

a/n: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! omg i hope u have the best day ever!! this request was SO FUN to write & i rly loved thinking up how the fam would help celebrate!! i used a more professional looking pic bc i think these headcanons may be my most chaotic LMAO 🫶
taglist: @nutellani @thecloudedmind
(fill out this form if you'd like to be on my taglist!!)
-----------------------✰----------------------
ok so the way they found out it was ur birthday is lowkey stalker-ish
maybe not full stalker but it’s not like it was out in the open.
a certain… ahem…. fogwell foggy foghorn fogster fog jr
i forgot his full name this is embarrassing so let’s pretend i said that on purpose as a joke!!
haha hehe omg mae ur so funny
why thank you!!
anyways he was looking in ur file that ur school had given nelson murdock & page so that u could legally work there
and he saw that ur birthday was in two days!!!
two days!!!
so he was in full panic mode
below are real (YEAH, REAL!!) texts he sent to karen & matt
i gotta prepare myself yknow i gotta get in that foggy texting headspace
ok i'm ready
ahem
“OMG (oh my gosh) 😱😱😱😱!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! y/n’s birthday is in TWO DAYS 🚨🚨🚨RED ALERT RED ALERT 🚨🚨🚨we have to do something for them!!!!!! like maybe get a gift 🎁or some cake 🍰🧁🎂? they would like that, right? of course they would, who doesn’t like cake 🤩🤩🤩🤩?? well, except for you matt 😡😡i judge you for that. JK (just kidding) LOL (laughing out loud)... or am i🤔🤔?? anyway we need to be READY!!!”
imagine matt’s text to speech reading that
like it would be saying “exclamation point” until the end of time LMAO
(laughing my ass off)
HAHA
also i do think matt prob doesn’t like cake
he prob would want one of those meatloaf cakes for his birthday like the ones that ppl “frost” with mashed potatoes? they seem like his vibe
ok anyways so you were kinda suspicious when you got to the firm the next day
you had a lot of stuff to file so you were trying to get down to it
but then they all kept coming over and asking questions
“hey, y/n. what’s your favorite color?”
“[your fave color].” you answered
and karen nodded but she took out her phone and made a note so you were like “hm”
but you thought nothing of it
and then matt came over
and he was like “what’s something you like”
and you were like “...”
and he said “well?”
and you were like “just… anything?”
“yeah.”
“uh… i like watching baseball. and … cats.”
“ok, baseball and cats. perfect.”
and then he smiles as he walked away because he understood that he just unintentionally made the perfect pun
THE PURRFECT PUN OMG
so that was kind of funny
and kind of sweet bc like maybe they were trying to connect w u more!
but then u saw foggy taking a picture of u filing
“foggy, what the hell are you doing??”
you knew they didn’t like you swearing in the office but y’all desperate times call for desperate measures
“uh.. i’m… taking a selfie.”
“yeah? let me see.”
so he tried to hide it from you
but it was very clearly a photo of you!!!
“foggy --”
“y/n. it’s a new filter. don’t worry. it only LOOKS like you. it’s actually me.”
“uh-huh.”
so you went to bed that night kinda nervous
like were they going to kill u or something??
did u need a witness??
oh well
anyway so the next day was ur birthday!!
yayyyyyy
happy birthday to u happy birthday to u happy birthday y/n happy birthday to u
that was from me to u reader, but ik u wanna know what matt and foggy & karen say so i’ll go do that
you were lowkey scared to go in the office
bc again, they were all acting weird
AND AS SOON AS U OPENED THE DOOR
u heard foggy whisper “go”
and then nothing
and you heard foggy curse and karen was like
“we told you these confetti poppers were expired!!”
regardless, they all were like “SURPRISE!!!”
and you were totally floored
bc this was like so nice
& u never expected for them to do anything for ur birthday
THEY EVEN GAVE YOU A GIFT!!
really really nice seats to a baseball game!!
not that it mattered for matt where u sat 💀
OK SORRY I'M DONE W THAT
and yeah they were gonna go with you
which was so cute like aww
KAREN MADE YOU CUPCAKES
bc lets be honest she would be the best baker
and she piped these like little cats on them!!!
they were so cute
except for the fact that they weren’t in the fridge so they were kind of half melted
but you loved them so much it literally didn’t matter
if you didn’t suspect that this internship was the best thing to ever happen to you before, you definitely had it confirmed now.
ok last little anecdote so i don’t end on such a cheesy note
HAHA
after u did some filing
ok it was ur birthday but that didn’t mean u got out of work
the fam took u to josie’s and foggy told her it was ur birthday
and she was like “happy birthday kid.”
and then she looked him straight in the eye and was like “you’re not getting food for free because of that.”
but guess what?
everyone in the bar was pretty jolly bc its a bar guys ppl drink
anyway so they sang happy birthday to u!!
ur fave old man marv (who u had that wing eating contest with once) led the singing
IT WAS THE BEST DAY EVER :D

Birthday Special
Pairings: Matt Murdock x gn!teen!reader
Imagine: it’s your birthday and Matt is the only one who knows how you really want to celebrate your birthday
Warnings: none as far as I know
A/N so like I said on my previous post it’s my birthday today, I’m turning 17 and with that I though why not write a fanfic with how I like to spend my anxious introverted selfs birthday, so here’s a fanfic anyway with me y/n and Matt celebrating my y/n’s birthday, bc I want people to know that it’s okay to not want to have a big celebration on their birthday, (which my friends doesn’t seem tog get most of the time)
Obviously some of this is fictional as it is in a world with Matt Murdock, damn I wish he wasn’t fictional
Oh and sorry but I didn’t proofread this one so sorry if there’s mistake somewhere, my first language isn’t English
Tumblr media
Waking up was like any other day. Well it was your birthday but you didn’t really think much of it. Just getting one year older is all. Nothing special.
You weren’t like all those other people on Instagram and other social media. You didn’t post about your birthday and about being out with all your friends. No, you usually stayed home and chilled. Eating your birthday cake as breakfast. Afterwards you just watch some of your favorite shows and movies. Drawing and painting some. Maybe reading some. Not doing much really. You were just living your best life doing things you enjoy.
But this time you weren’t sure if something would change. You had just started to live with Matt Murdock. He took you in at the beginning of this year when he found out about your late night vigilante activities. You had moved to Hell’s Kitchen to go to an art school that was located there.
You know for sure it would be weird without your parents and family there, but Matt had become a new family member to you. Even though you would miss your family you were sure your day would be great anyway.
So opening your eyes you reached over to the nightstand with your hand and tried to locate where your phone was. It was still dark in the room as none of the lights were on yet. A moment later you had your phone gripped tightly in your hand as you turned it on. The light makes your eyes squint at the screen. It was already the middle of the day, you had slept in as usual on your birthday. As always you had loads of birthday wishes, some of them you didn’t even know who they were. But most of them were family members.
Smiling you texted them a “thank you” and a “love you too” with a heart emoji
After a while you were still laying in bed scrolling through some TikToks, and whatever else you found yourself scrolling through. You were thankful Matt hadn't called Foggy and Karen and made a big deal of your birthday by walking into your room with a cake and singing or something like that. It was quite nice that he had let you be on your own so far.
Though eventually you dragged yourself up off the bed. Going to the drawer, picking out some of your favorite clothes. You put on your sweater shorts and put your phone in your pocket. Then you put on a flannel shirt without bothering to button up the shirt and rolling up the arms (if you are a girl like me you have a sports bra on or something like that).
You went out of your room. Rubbing your eyes to get adjusted to the light outside of your room. After a while of just standing in the middle of the room adjusting your tired eyes to the light, you walked to the fridge. Opening it you found a cake, your favorite cake might you add, which was exactly what you took out. Cutting a slice and putting it on a plate, you took a spoon (or fork if that’s what you eat cake with) and sat down on the sofa. Matt had gotten a TV when you moved in, so that you could watch all of those series and movies that you liked, you were very grateful over that. Putting on one of your favorite series you relaxed into the couch and started eating your cake.
After a while you realized you hadn’t seen or even heard Matt anywhere in the apartment so you guessed he was at the office doing some preparation for one of his and Foggy’s cases.
Except the real reason Matt wasn’t at home was because Foggy and Karen had the idea of throwing a surprise party for you with just them. But he needed to convince the two of them that it was not what you wanted at all. And that you just wanted to stay home doing the things you liked to do the most. So instead Karen and Foggy went home to Matt’s and yours apartment and went to say hi and Happy Birthday to you, and give you a present from each of them. You thanked them and gave them a hug before they left.
Matt was in the store by the time buying you a new set of paints as the ones you ahd were nearly empty. Especially the blue, white and red ones. It seemed like you used those colors the most. Well he didn’t know for sure, as he couldn’t see, but he knew that you complained a lot about the blue, red and white paint tubes always being empty. So he asked one of the store workers for help.
That’s how Matt came home with a bag filled with art supplies, and a new stuffed teddy bear, as your latest obsession was to name stuffed animals after your favorite fictional characters. You had made quite the collection of teddy bears and other stuffed animals by now. He even bought a balloon for you.
But when he got home you were sleeping once more. This time on the couch. Your blanket over you. In his way of seeing it seemed like you were quite comfy in your little pillow and blanket fortress on the couch. Instead of waking you he ordered food from your fave restaurant and sat on the empty space beside you, as he relaxed to the thought of you sleeping in peace without danger nearby.
Eventually you woke up to the door ringing. Smelling your favorite food you went to the door. Grabbing Matt’s wallet on the way. You opened the door and paid before you went to the kitchen and put everything down on the counter. Smiling, you saw Matt sitting on the couch, balloon in hand and surprisingly a wrapped present on the table in front of him. He smiled an adorable smile your way as he let go of the balloon, which read your name and your age on. He had probably went to Foggy for that one, probably how the present got wrapped in too.
You couldn’t help but smile wider at that. You brought the food over and went back again to the fridge and brought the cake towards the table too. You sat beside Matt once more and he wrapped one of his arms around you.
“How was your day?” it was Matt’s voice that rang out while the two of you ate the food in front of you. “It was good, watched some episodes of supernatural, watched some Star Wars movies while sketching some characters, it was really good, I’m glad none of you guys made my birthday into a big deal like throwing a party or something” you paused eating some of your food before continuing. “Which I wonder about really, I mean I’m sure Foggy and Karen would have thrown a birthday party or something, but they didn’t” Matt smiled at that. A chuckle escaped his lips as he answered “well they were going to, but I told them not to, I knew you wouldn’t of liked it”
Eating the rest of your food you went over to the kitchen and took out two plates and two spoons. Slicing up two pieces of cake when you come back to the table and the couch. You sat down giving one of the plates and spoons to Matt while taking the other one. Cuddling closer to him while you did that. You sat in silence for a while until you finally asked the questions that had been on your mind.
“How’d you know I wouldn’t like a party?” both of you were done with the cakes now. You were as close cuddled up to Matt as you could be, relaxing to the peaceful silence and his breathing. Matt adjusted himself and changed your position so that you were now cuddled up on top of him. His heartbeat relaxing you. He smiled while he said his next words “living with you have made me realize that you don’t like to be in public, you don’t like parties and celebrating things, you just like to do what makes you happy, and your family might of called and told me'' a laugh escaped you with his last statement. Of course your family did that. They always tried to make sure that you were okay even when they weren’t in the same city as you.
“And as your unofficial older brother I think I should know these things” a laugh escaped the both of you as you cuddled with each other. “Nah I would say that you are my official brother by now” he hugged you tighter this time, kissing you on the forehead.
The rest of the day was spent between the two of you. Two siblings, might not be by blood but sometimes it felt that way. You continued to sketch a few things, and you were really glad for the new paint that Matt got you, and you thanked him loads of times, as the paint you use are kinda expensive.
When night came closer, you started to drift off into Matt’s arms as he carried you to his bed, where the two of you continued to cuddle while you slowly fell asleep. But before you could fall asleep you heard Matt say a “happy birthday” and a “love you mini devil”.
You couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend your birthday. Not when you had your older brother Matt with you.

Headcanons for Matt x teen!vigilante reader
A/N : An ask by @hutaos-gh0st, hope this is good. Also my first headcanon, so this is not that good, I'll admit.
Tumblr media
Masterlist
• Let's say you two met at a random night while you were patrolling crossing paths.
• You were trying to find information about someone and being all sneaky and he suddenly came up behind you.
• "Who the hell are you?"
"I'm the devil of Hell's Kitchen"
"And I'm Jesus"
• After talking a bit you figure out you were both going after the same person, so you kind of teamed up.
• He figures out you are a kid by the heartbeat thing and is instantly protective big bro mode on.
• "Aren't your parents worried"
"You think i'd be doing this if i had them"
• Which ofcourse leads to more questions because he was worried.
• "So who do you live with"
"Oh yeah, let me tell a stranger everything what do you want next my social security number"
• After a few more encounters, Matt figured out you didn't actually have a place to live, you sort of stayed around.
• "I mean i can barely pay my school fees, where do you think i'll get the money for rent"
• So he offered you to come live with him, which you took after some hesitancy and a NDA contract signed between you two.
• You learning he's blind and being shellshocked also a little fan moment.
• "Dude, that's so cool, so how does it work"
• Going on patrol together
• Meeting foggy and karen
• You and foggy becoming besties talking about stupid shit Matt does.
• Karen is the person you'll go to when you have any trouble.
• Giving life advice to each other
• Being scolded by Claire but also being patched up after.
• Matt also having to pull you away from dangerous stuff despite your protests.
• also you having to pull him away from stupid stuff.
• Running into frank castle and boy that was a awkward moment, seeing the tension between him and matt.
• Overall a weird combination but it works.
• Also imagine teaming up with spiderman and annoying Matt with all the vines and slangs.

matt was an hour late when he walked into the building, arm in y/n's as he laughed at something y/n said.
"well hello mini murdock," foggy greeted, not looking up from some of his random paperwork.
"aww, hey foggy bear!" y/n cooed, making her dad laugh again as he set his cane down and sat down.
foggy groaned. "i'll forever despise karen for telling you that."
y/n sat on the corner of matt's desk and turned her attention to her phone. "where is karen, anyway? i haven't seen her in years."
matt snorted. "you saw her yesterday, kiddo." in response y/n only smiled and shrugged.
matt leaned back in his chair with his hands cushioning his head. "who are you texting?" he asked randomly.
y/n shrugged. "a friend."
foggy looked at y/n with squinted eyes. "yeah? who's the friend?"
y/n looked at her dad, who looked like he was expecting an answer as well. she rolled her eyes. "frank. why does it matter?"
foggy got up and moved closer, holding his hands out like he was about to explain some groundbreaking science equation. "because, y/n, if i-" matt cleared his throat, "sorry, we dont know who this frank is-"
the door burst open, and karen stumbles in, hair soaking wet and looking angrier than matt when he hears back-to-back joe mama jokes and foggy's famoutms dad jokes.
"this-this guy! he drives right past me, okay?! and there's a giant puddle on the roadside! he fucking-" karen explains loudly, slamming her coat onto the coat hanger.
y/n snickers.
"oh my god! mini murdock! i missed you! but again? with the glasses?" karen laughs.
the teen shrugs. "it's a family thing," is all she offers.
matt can feel foggy and karen's eyes on him, so he shrugs with a smile, earning a chuckle from y/n as she looked back down at her conversation.

Rebelling Against Life
Warnings: mentions of eating rat poisoning, mentions of falling off a roof, let me know if I missed any :)
Pairings: Matt Murdock x teen reader, Foggy Nelson x teen reader, Karen Page x teen reader
*not my gif*
Summary: Nelson and Murdock have a new intern. One who really does not seem to want to be there
A/N: In light of recent events, I decided to take a quick break from requests and fall back into my Daredevil obsession- therefore writing this fic for you guys that I’ve had ideas for for a while
Please don’t plagiarize my work, you may reblog if you like but I’m asking that you don’t steal my hard work
Tumblr media
“You’re late, Y/n.” You heard Matt say as soon as you stepped into the office, before you could even close the door.
You huffed, slamming the door shut way more aggressively than need be, “Well, there was traffic.”
“You walk to work.” The man reminded you, glasses aimed at nothing as he spoke.
You decided to change the subject with a roll of your eyes, “How does the blind man even know who’s walking through the door?” You asked rudely.
Murdock didn’t even seem fazed, “Because Foggy and Karen are already here.”
You glanced to the side to see the two of them sitting in one of the rooms, no doubt going over a case, which you could tell by their hunched over figures and fast moving lips.
“Whatever.” You grumbled, moving to the side of the room and discarding your jacket on a random chair.
You heard the man sigh from behind you, “You have to start taking this interning position more seriously, Y/n.”
“Why?” The question came out as a snap, “It’s not like I’m going to become a lawyer when I’m older.”
In complete truth, the idea of going into that field of business never repelled you. In fact, you wouldn’t mind becoming a lawyer someday.
But from the second you were born, your parents had this whole big plan for you to grow up and be the most successful lawyer possible. Meaning studying all the time, and interning jobs such as the one you currently had at ‘Nelson and Murdock’.
And having that future shoved down your throat all your life, only built up this fire inside you that provoked you to rebel and fight against that plan, no matter how much you didn’t hate the idea. The only idea you hated was that other people could tell you how to live your life.
Matt closed his unseeing eyes, doing everything in his power not to lose his patience with you, “Nevertheless, it’s still good for you.”
A scoff escaped your lips, “Yeah, about as good as eating rat poison.”
The door to the office opened, and Karen poked her head out, interrupting all further conversation before it could turn into an argument, “Oh, good, you’re here. Would you mind making copies of a couple things?” She asked you.
She handed you the stack of papers before you could even reply, and one pointed look from Matt- which was actually at the wall next to you, but still- left you sighing and nodding, to which she beamed and thanked you before going back to the table.
You begrudgingly stomped over to the printer, jabbing a couple buttons harder than need be and stood there with your arms crossed as you waited for the machine to finish up.
“Quit pouting.” Matt called, walking past you and through the door of his office, holding a hand out slightly so that he didn’t hit a wall.
Your arms quickly uncrossed, “How did you-“
“Lucky guess.” He cut you off, turning around so you didn’t see him try to suppress a grin.
When the machine finally let out a beep to tell you it was done, you marched into the room that Foggy and Karen were sitting in, grunting in return to their ‘thank you’s’.
Right before you turned to exit the door, you felt yourself hesitate as Matt’s words rang in your head, bouncing around as if they were on a trampoline inside your brain, “Can I do anything else for you guys?”
They both looked up in surprise, lips parting slightly. It was clear that neither of them had expected you to ask that at all.
Quickly though, they smiled and Foggy actually asked you to start reorganizing a filling cabinet that he hadn’t gotten around to yet.
The two adults exchanged a look of disbelief as you nodded, accepting the job without any whining or sassy remarks, and shuffled out the door.
The rest of the afternoon- for once- was silent. There were no dramatic tantrums from you, or arguing with Matthew. You simply did the tasks that they assigned to you, all while deep in your own thoughts.
Karen finally came out and told you that you could take a fifteen minute break, to which you accepted with a single nod, picking up your jacket and scurrying out the door.
It was only once the door clicked shut softly behind you that the three of them spoke, “What’s gotten into her today?” The woman asked, staring at the spot you had just been standing.
“I don’t know,” Foggy replied, putting his hands up in mock surrender, “But I’m not arguing.”
She hummed in agreement.
Matt stood up from his desk suddenly, “I’m gonna go talk to her.”
The other two exchanged uneasy glances, “Are we sure that’s the best idea?” Foggy asked, “You two aren’t exactly notorious for getting along for long periods of time.”
“We’ll be fine.” He brushed it off with ease.
He quickly moved out of the room and began making his way to where he knew you would be- and not just because he could hear your heartbeat.
The wind caught him by surprise when he stepped onto the roof. Not because he didn’t know it was going to be there, but because of how cold it was. Normally the office would reflect the temperature from outside, and it had been warm in there all day.
He didn’t need to see to know that you were sitting on the floor with your legs dangling over the edge, something that made him nervous that one gust of wind would send you flying over the edge.
Slowly, he walked over and sat down next to you, but not putting his legs over the building as you were.
He could sense your head turning to him, “How did you know I was here?”
You hadn’t made a sound since he entered, and he was blind, so you felt that you asked a relevant question.
“Lucky guess.”
Even though you knew he couldn’t see you, you still ducked your head to hide the smile threatening to crawl its way onto your face at his answer.
A silence fell over the two of you that was neither comfortable, nor uncomfortable.
If it weren’t for the sound of your heartbeat, Matt might have thought that you had fallen off the roof for how quiet you were.
“I really do want to be a lawyer.” You finally spoke up softly, surprising both yourself and the man next to you with your words.
“Really?“ He asked in genuine curiosity.
You nodded, momentarily forgetting about the whole blind thing, “But having my parents tell me every second of my life that it’s what I have to be makes me want to want the opposite.”
“I get it.” He said, still facing a cityscape he could not see, “You don’t want to live up to what society tells you to be; you want to live up to it on your own.”
Your head turned to him in shock, “Yeah,” You breathed out.
“I understand why you act the way you do, but you have to know that we- Karen, Foggy, and I- just want to help you. We’re not trying to make your life difficult.
“I know.” You said softly, intertwining your left and right hand together and placing them in your lap, looking down at them intently.
He reached over, placing a hand on your shoulder, “We’re here for you.”
You looked up at him gratefully, “Thanks… old man.”
He groaned playfully, dropping his hand back to his side and throwing his head back, “Anddd it begins.”
A small grin cracked on your face, “Oh, come on. You can’t just have all this wise advice and not expect me to refer to you as ancient.”
His grin was so large that it was beginning to hurt, it wa the first time he had smiled this much in a long time, “No, I suppose not.”

Father knows best; Matt Murdock x teen reader
*Author’s note*
Okay well this was a certainly a LOOOONG wait in the making, truthfully I had almost forgotten this but after leaving the last part on such a cliff hanger I couldn’t just leave it like that. So this chapter will be broken down into two parts and this will be the FINAL update to Guardian Devil mini-series.
Warnings: murder, grooming, Kilgrave’s manipulative controlling, Matt acts a little OOC (like how he wanted to kill Kingpin in s.3 but in the end didn’t, here I believe in a case like this for the sake of my fanfic, Matt would actually WANT someone like Kilgrave dead).
FINAL PART

*Flashback*
The sound of a struggle could be heard from an apartment along 42nd street.  It was Friday night and as always no one was home unless they were passed out drunk already from a hard week’s work.  A window was shattered as a body began falling down until it landed in a large dumpster bin.  Another body jumped out and scaled down the fire escape almost acrobatically until they landed on their feet.
The person that fell in slowly got up with a groan but not before a hand grabbed them and forced them out of the dumpster and had the man rolling along the floor after a swift kick to the gut to ensure he didn’t run. Blood covered half of his face and his left knee was at an odd angle.
“What do you want? I didn’t do anything to you.” The man groaned in Japanese.
“The Kingpin says you’re a loose end. And loose ends need tying up.” At the mention of the Kingpin’s name the man reach into his pocket but with a clean throw of the baton, the sound of his finger bones cracking rang out as he let out a cry of pain.
“Wait. Help me! I can pay you twice what he’s giving you. Weapons, drugs, anything!” he pleaded.
“What I want, you can’t give me.” She replied in English as she took back her baton and stood over the Japanese man.  She raised the baton and with a hard swing, the sound of his skull cracking sounded off as he lay there dead.
*My POV*
Two victims in just under a month and with 4 months of training by some of The Hands’ personal best made me ready for these types of missions. But killing these guys gave me no pleasure, Kingpin says this is only practice, well I’m done with practicing.  I want him. I need the man who killed my mother!
“Alright! Yes!” I heard a man’s voice say as clapping was heard. My eyes widened and I quickly turned to see a man in a deep purple suit standing at the entrance of the alleyway with two gorgeous women at his side as they too applauded.  “That was absolutely tremendous! I thought I was good haha! You are a sight to behold. Wasn’t she amazing?” he asked the two women who nodded. “You bore me, leave.” And they did as he asked.
Tumblr media
Shit! Kingpin said no witnesses, I reached for my shuriken but he told me.
“I’d keep put both hands at your sides where I can see them.” Suddenly I felt my arms go at my sides and they felt like lead as I couldn’t move them.  “If you’re worried about me turning you into the police, don’t worry. To be honest one less of them yakuza rats to worry about. I’m cool.”
“Yeah you’re cool.” I found myself saying.  He gave a slight tilt of his head before he said.
“Come here and take that mask off so I can see your face.” Again against my own will, I felt my hands reach for my Bobcat mask and removed it as I walked closer to the man.
He appeared to be around Matt and Foggy’s age, maybe even a bit older.  He had dark brown hair, a five o’clock stubble, and his eyes a dark, empty brown.
“Jesus you’re just a kid. A kid willing to do that much damage to a man twice her size. I can see it in your eyes.” He cupped my chin and had me look up at him.  “Ohhh yes. I know those eyes anywhere. Rage, vengeance. Just like me at your age. Tell me how old are you?”
“16.”
“16. Yes the prime age for a young woman but here you are. Kicking ass and taking names.” The smile that spread across his face sent a shiver of fear up my spine as his empty eyes shined a slimmer of a crazed, psychotic look.  “Tell me this, did you enjoy killing that man?” he asked as he finally let go of my chin.
“Yes.” I responded coldly.
“Hmm-mm, why’s that?”
“Because it gets me closer to my goal.” I replied. “Avenging my mother.” His eyes slightly widened as he was gobsmacked at my statement before he said.
“Well…..so sorry to hear that. What’s your name?”
“Bobcat.”
“No, no, no not your superhero name, your real name.” I hesitated until my name suddenly rolled off my tongue.
“(Y/n) Perry.”
“Perry? Well…..no wonder why you looked so familiar. You are practically a resemblance of her.”
“You knew my mother?” I asked as my heart skipped a beat.
“It seems we have a lot to talk about. There’s a good Thai restaurant around the corner, join me for supper.” He extended his hand out to me. I stood there in my spot looking between him and his hand. “Come on.” He softly ordered and soon I walked up to him but just before I could take his hand, he wrapped his arm around my shoulders and guided me down the dark streets of Hell’s kitchen.
When we got to the restaurant, he ordered all the costumers to leave and told the workers to bring out everything they had and to not question my attire.  I ate the last of my fried rice before sipping my water.
“Yep. Nothing like a nice meal after performing feats of vengeance.” He said to me.
“How do you know my mother?”
“Oh wow straight to business, okay fine. Guess I’ve kept you in suspense long enough.” He cupped the side of my face. “God you really do look so much like her when we first met. Same eyes, same mouth, even your skin feels like hers.” I got uncomfortable hearing that part.  “Been 16 years late to say this but, (Y/n) Perry….the name’s Kilgrave, I’m your father.”
My heart stopped, my eyes widened and my head was swirling.
I quickly stood up but he ordered me.,
“Sit back down.” Immediately I sat back down and even scooted my chair back into the table, my eyes never once leaving him.  “I know this is all a bit of a shock, believe me how do you think I feel? But it’s true.”
“How do you know? Any man could claim they’re my dad.”
“True. Most men could, but they can’t say they’ve got official records, can they?” he pulled out a folded piece of paper from his purple jacket and slid it over to me.  “Go on, take it.” I took the paper and unfolded it to reveal what looked like an official copy of my birth certificate.
Now I have seen the copy my mom had but for some reason she had the name of the father blacked out.  When I was younger, I did ask about my father but she always refused to tell me about him until one day she told me that he left us with nothing and wanted nothing to do with us.
But this certificate didn’t have my father’s name blacked out and there I saw his name. Kevin Thompson.
“Kevin Thompson is my legal name but I’ve longed forbidden anyone from calling me that.” He told me.
“It could’ve been forged. I have friends who could do this and make it legal.”
“You’re a smart girl, I’ll give your mother that much for not raising an idiot.” I narrowed my eyes and softly growled. “Stop that.” He ordered me as he then took out another piece of paper.  “This here is an authentic, 100% guarantee DNA test. Performed by the Hell’s Kitchen ancestry agency. Don’t ask how I got yours just know I have my ways.” He handed me the paper which I took and opened it up.
According to the Ancestry and Family Bonds society of Hell’s Kitchen, the tests show that (Y/n) Perry and Kevin Thompson, provided DNA hair samples, are 99.998% a match.
I was in shock.  I leaned against the chair dropping the paper to the ground as I said solemnly.
“She lied to me.” Kilgrave, who had gotten up and got himself some liquor from the back and poured himself a drink.  “She told me that you abandoned us.”
“Not to speak ill of the dead, but your mother has been lying to you ever since she stole you away from me when she was pregnant with you.”
“Why would she do that?” I asked.
“Because she somehow believed that I would hurt the two of you. Listen to me (Y/n), hey,” he leaned forward cupping my face in his hands. “Your mother, through whatever delusion she thought, I never once hurt her. I loved her. I cared so much for her, I gave her the world. But then she—packed up and left me. And when she found out she was pregnant with you, she did everything in her legal power to keep me away from you.”
“You loved her?”
“She was the Éowyn to my Faramir. Both of us being kept back by society or mistreated by our families. I tried….everything in my power to see you but……but then I heard what happened to her.” Tears formed in my eyes as I tried to look away.  “Ohh darling.” He wiped the tears hidden at the corner of my eyes as he gingerly shushed me.  “I cannot imagine what was going through your head the day she was found. What your heart was feeling.”
“I was lost……broken……but mostly I was angry. I’m still angry. I wanna kill him. I wanna tear him apart. To make him feel every ounce of hurt he made me feel.” I first said solemnly before my sorrow turned to hate.
“And you believe this Wilson Fisk can give it to you?” he asked me.
“He promised me.”
“The way I see it. He can get you part of the way there. You may find the guy who did it, but you won’t get him to confess. He’ll deny it until he either dies without admitting it, or not share every last little thing he did to your mother. Things that only the killer himself knows.” I looked at him perplexed.
“You can teach me to do that?” he smiled softly and stroked a strand of hair out of my face.
“Isn’t that what all fathers do for their children? Help them achieve their goals.” He stood up and extended his hand out to me.  I took it and he helped me stand up as I asked him how he could help me.  “You can start, by getting rid of that.” He pointed to my neck.
I reached and touched the chain but clenched it in my hand refusing to let it go.  It was my mother’s Evanstar necklace, I had taken it just before they buried her (Mahoney allowed me to take it after they recovered her remains instead of it being put into evidence).
“C’mon (Y/n). you need to let it go.” My hands reached back and I unclasped the lock and removed the necklace which showed the Evanstar pendant shining at me from the light.  My father held out his hand and I set the necklace down in his palm before he put it away in his pocket.  “That’s my girl. Now c’mere and give your father a hug like you mean it.” I ran into his arms and squeezed him as tight as I could.  “I’m here now (Y/n). I’ll always be here.” He said to me as he embraced me just as tightly.
Soon I found myself being trained by my father in the act of ‘verbal persuasion’ or so he called it.  It’s basically what he can do (after sharing with me the gruesome backstory of what his parents, my grandparents) did to him.
I tried my best but nothing I said to any of the volunteers he had set up for me followed my directions.  And it would only be a matter of time before Fisk suddenly came back into the picture.  When he had sent the cops he had under his thumb into father’s house, he ordered me to run and forget everything about our meeting but that he’d find me again soon when the time was right.
After fleeing from the house, I soon forgot just why I was running, the cops took me back to Fisk, I got a stern talking to but he sent me back out into the world.  And of course you know the rest from there.
*End of flashback*
It was pitch black outside by the time we reached the cabin. Well when I say cabin it looked more like a castle.  Multi-level (2-3 levels), clear glass windows, a grand balcony on the second floor that spread pretty much across the entire house, and a stone chimney and stone pillars that held it up from the floor to the grand balcony.
Father turned the car off and said.
“We’re here.” I looked at the cabin mansion and he asked me, “Too much? It is too much isn’t it.”
“No, no I—it’s lovely I just…..”
“Just what?”
“Will they find us? They’ll be looking for me. I-I shouldn’t have left.”
“Now, now relax, hey look at me.” He cupped my chin and forced me to look him in the eye.  “They won’t find us. In fact they’ve forgotten all about your case. Remember what I told you I can do, what we can do.” My breath was shaky as I exhaled but nodded.  “Let me hear you say it, it’s all taken care of.”
“It’s all taken care of.” I repeated.
“That’s my girl.” He then got out of the car and I followed behind him.  As we rounded toward the cabin, I felt his arm wrap around my shoulders bringing me closer to him as we walked inside together.
Inside it was even grander than I could imagine.  It was like living in a castle with all the expensive vases scattered around, the paintings and marble statues that looked like they belonged in a museum.  A large staircase stood at the center of the living room.
“(Y/n) Perry, my pride and joy, I’d like to welcome you to your new home.” Said Father as he gestured to the manor.  I looked around in awe as I walked along the grand living room.
“All of this is—”
“It’s all ours. Nothing’s too good for my girl, right? And speaking of, Ivy!” soon a woman in her mid-50’s maybe even early 60’s with short grey hair came out from the back hallway and she said.
“Yes sir?” her accent was thick, possibly she could’ve been from Ukraine or Russia.
“Take my daughter upstairs to her new room and have her change clothes. Make sure to burn this atrocious jumpsuit the pigs forced on her.” He said as he came up to me placing his hand on my shoulder and giving it a rub as well as a squeeze.
“Yes sir.” He looked down at me and I up at him.
“I expect to see you for dinner in 10 minutes.”
“Yes father.” I said as I walked towards Ivy and she lead me up the stairs and into my room.
My new room was twice as big than any of the apartment rooms I’ve had in the past.  A large king sized bed, a large wooden wardrobe (that almost looked like it came from Narnia), some bookshelves with all my favorite books and authors, as well as some Tolkien collections like Bilbo’s party sign, the flag of Rohan hanging just over my bed, and some of my favorite character posters like Aragorn’s movie poster holding Andúril in front of him, Éowyn stabbing the Witch King of Angmar, and Merry and Pippin riding on Treebeard.
“Come Ms. Kilgrave, we best get you ready.” We walked in and I removed the orange jumpsuit as well as the white t-shirt and shorts I had also been given to wear.  Ivy collected the prison clothes and wound them up into a ball to be burned just as father had commanded.  She then went into the wardrobe and got out a beautiful red blouse with black leggings and black flats.  “Your father wishes for you to look presentable at dinner.”
“Do you work for my father willingly? Or did he order you to do this?” I asked her.
“Your father has done me better than my previous job. Same with the rest of employees here. I was about to be evicted from my home and have my son taken away by Child Services because of our financial situation. Your father is a good man who just wants to help you, and I’d do anything to help him achieve that. From a mother to a father.”
I nodded and got on the clothes she had picked out and then she had me sit before a large mirror that almost looked to be silver and she began to brush my hair of the tangles and knots from my lack of sleep and stress I had been through the past few days.
Once I looked more presentable, she lead me back downstairs to a grand dining area with a large, long table and a roaring fireplace to the right of the table.
“Cutting it kinda of close aren’t we Ivy?” father said looking down at his phone before glancing back up at her.
“Sorry sir, it took a while to get her hair brushed and braided.”
“Are you criticizing my daughter?”
“No! No sir absolutely not!” she said worriedly.
“Leave us now.” He said.  She nodded before immediately walking away.  “C’mon, don’t be shy darling, come here so I can have a better look at you.” He said turning his chair toward me.  I walked towards him and when I got close enough, he took my hand and moaned softly. “Now that’s much better, don’t you feel better without those horrid prison scrubs on?”
“Yes.”
“Take a seat, eat. Armani is serving up your favorite Italian dish.” Father said as I sat down beside him.  Soon the chef Armani came out wheeling our food out on silver platters on a large tray.  He set the platters down before us then removed the lids to reveal a beautifully made fettuccini alfredo with some breadsticks.
It smelled incredible and it made my mouth almost water. I reached out for the breadsticks first and took a single bite of them and immediately I fell into the pleasure of just how warm and soft this bread was.  Within seconds the breadstick was gone and I went over to the alfredo.
“Someone was clearly hungry, just what is it they serve you in prison?”
“School food is worse.” Father softly laughed and said.
“I’ll bet it is. But no more of that now, just full on 5 star meals three times a day. Like I said, nothing’s too good for my best girl.” He reached out and stroked the back of my head.  I paused my eating and felt my stomach turn in knots.  “What’s wrong? Is it not prepared right? I swear if you end up sick, I’ll have Armani cut off each of his fingers one by one!” he threatened angrily.
“No, no the food’s wonderful father. The finest I’ve ever had, it’s just…..”
“Just what?” I looked away from him nervously.  “Just what? Look at me and tell me (Y/n).” I looked up at him and said.
“What if the Kingpin stops us like last time? Or the police who aren’t under his thumb find us?”
“I told you darling, no one is going to find us. They’ve forgotten all about this case, now you just need to forget about it. Forget about what they’ve told you, who was involved, everything.”
“Even Jessica Jones?”
“Especially Jessica Jones.” I trailed off thinking about Uncle Matt, Uncle Foggy and Aunt Karen.
“And my family?”
“Your family?” father questioned.
“Aunt Karen, Uncle Foggy and…..and uncle Matt. They were all involved with the case, do I have to forget about them too?”
“Yes. You don’t know those people anymore, they aren’t your family.”
“But—”
“Don’t!” he snapped angrily but caught himself and exhaled sharply.  “The only family you have is me. Okay (Y/n)? There’s no Karen you know, no Foggy, what the hell kind of name is that anyways by the way? And above all else, there is no Matt Murdock you know. Do you understand?”
“Yes father.”
“Let me hear you say it.”
“There is no Karen Page, no Foggy Nelson, and no Matt Murdock that I know.” Father’s hands cupped the sides of my face and he said.
“That’s my good girl. I’m proud of you.” He pressed his forehead against mine and I felt his strength pour into me as my mind went blank from any memories I had of those three names until there was nothing left of them.
*3rd Person POV*
In Matt’s apartment, he was pacing back and forth in a panicked manner while Foggy and Karen sat on his couch and Jessica Jones was leaning up against the wall, her arms crossed over her chest.
“This can’t be happening. First Kingpin and now Kilgrave? I can’t even imagine who is worse to have her.” Karen said.
“I may not know Kingpin as personally as you guys but if I had to put my money somewhere, I’d prefer the kid be with him than with that manipulative son of a bitch.” Jessica said.
“But why? Why does he want her? At least Fisk had a reason even for as terrible of a reason it was, but how does Kilgrave fit into all of this?” Foggy asked.
“He’s right this doesn’t make any sense. What use could he have for (Y/n)?” Karen said.
“Think I found the reason.” Jessica said.  “See I’ve been doing some digging into your kid’s mom, your former partner. Did any of you ever hear her speak of (Y/n)’s father?”
“No. She never liked to talk about it.” Foggy said.
“Yeah. One girl’s night we went out for drinks and I got curious about it and asked her but she kept trying to change the subject. She even got defensive about it telling me to drop—wait. Jessica you’re not saying……” Karen started off, then her investigative brain began to piece together where Jessica was going with it.
“What? What is it Karen?”
“Perhaps I better take over from here. So like I said, I did some digging into your partner’s past. Birthplace, credit card info, any property she’s bought or rented, everything and Murdock will you stop pacing like that?! You’re literally gonna fall through the way you’re stomping around like an elephant.”
“Stop? How can I stop when (Y/n) is out there being held hostage by someone even worse than Wilson Fisk!? Jones you promised me you’d keep an eye on her. You said you’d keep her safe!”
“And I did…..”
“Then where is she!?” Matt exclaimed frantically. “Because she’s not with Mahoney nor are you with her!? A prison riot allowed a man who has the ability to manipulate one’s mind and actions to his own will, come in and kidnap her! And the police can’t look for her because they were ordered not to! Those were your words right?”
“Look Murdock, I don’t like this anymore than you do. But pacing there festering in your pity anger and pointing the blame at me won’t help us find her quicker.”
“She’s right Matt. You hadn’t slept all night nor any time since this whole case opened up against (Y/n).” Foggy said.  Matt exhaled sharply but trudged over to his chair and sat down in a huff.
“Talk Jones.”
“You’re lucky I’m letting the attitude slide this one time.”
“Talk!”
“Matt, easy. Go on Jessica.” Karen first eased Matt before turning back to Jessica.  Jessica pulled out some files from her bag and pulled out some DNA test results, pictures of Kilgrave from over 17 years ago, and (Y/n)’s birth certificate.
“Seems your former partner had some secrets she didn’t want let out. Kilgrave is (Y/n)’s birth father.”
The three of them turned to Jessica in shock.
“Paternity and DNA tests were used by Kilgrave himself, don’t ask me how he managed to get a hold of hers you honestly don’t want to know. That creep always finds a way. But these documents of a restraining order against Kilgrave for one (M/n) Perry around the time when she would be pregnant with (Y/n) sealed it for me. I even managed to get a hold of some of the medical staff that helped deliver (Y/n). They told me how Kilgrave even showed up at the delivery to try and take (Y/n) away from her. But thanks to the approved restraining order, they immediately called the cops. Of course the bastard told them to shoot themselves before he could be taken away. That’s when SWAT was called and the hospital was forced to be on lockdown.”
“Oh Jesus.” Foggy muttered shaking his head solemnly.  He couldn’t even begin to imagine the horror his deceased best friend had to go through in order to deliver (Y/n).
“How did they finally get him to leave if he can make anyone do what he wants?”
“Tranquilizer darts. If you ask me, they should’ve put a bullet through his head though. But of course the weasel wormed his way out of trial but then he never went after them again. Until a year and a half ago I took this picture of him with (Y/n).” she placed down a photo of the two of them at the Thai food restaurant.  Karen picked up the picture and she said.
“This was taken around the time she was missing. When she was training with Fisk.”
“Seems the kid’s double dipped. Because she ended up staying with father-dearest for a good 2 months before your boy Fisk got her back.” Matt stood up and grabbed his cane and headed towards the door.
“Where the hell are you going?” Jessica snapped but Matt didn’t respond, the only response he did give was the loud slam of his front door.
He walked out before hailing down a taxi and told the driver to go to the Hell’s Kitchen cemetery.  The driver drove through the traffic, all the while Matt’s leg wouldn’t stop bouncing as so many thoughts were going through his head.
“You want me to help you find the tombstone you’re looking for sir?” asked the cab driver.
“Thanks for the offer but I got it. I—know her tombstone by touch.” After a few more minutes of weaving in and out of traffic, the cab driver soon arrived at the cemetery and Matt paid the cab driver his amount before getting out and walking forward.
Using his sense of touch he touched each and every grave stone (even though he remembered exactly where she was buried, but for the sake of those who were there, he kept up the facade).  Until he finally felt the tombstone of the one he had been searching for. His former partner’s and best friend’s (M/n) Perry.
He fell to his knees before her tombstone as tears formed behind his red shades.  His lip trembled as he said.
“I failed you.” He shook his head in regret.  “You asked me to watch over her, and I—I failed you. I’m sorry (M/n). I know you had your reasons for not telling us about her father, but he—he has her. And I don’t know what to do. I know who he is but it—the only way to stop him is to kill him. And I can’t do that, I just can’t. I don’t know if you ever did know of who I am at night but I can’t kill him. Yet he must die.”
He knew Kilgrave and Fisk were two completely different people. Fisk may have had the power of persuasion but he only does it the way normally, rich powerful people can do it. Kilgrave, he’s practically on a mutant level of a threat.  One word and he can have someone slice their throat or take another’s life.  Hell that day when (Y/n) was born he could’ve had everyone, including (M/n) shot by the very police assigned to arrest him.
And people like him don’t go down so easily unless you call the Avengers, and he most certainly did not want that.
He reached out and touched her gravestone and stroked down it until he felt her name.  “I know God won’t answer my prayers so I hope you can, please (M/n). I need a true angel on my side, what do I do now? Tell me what I need to do.”
But all he got was the soft whistle of the wind, other than that all was quiet.  He shook his head angrily as he sighed heavily and gripped the grass beneath him before standing up and walked away.
All throughout the day both Jessica, Foggy and Karen were doing research in order to find just where Kilgrave could’ve taken (Y/n) all the while Matt was getting changed into his Daredevil suit to go out and look for her.
“Any of you ladies coming up with something?” asked Foggy.
“Nope.” Replied Karen.
“I’ve been hacking into the security cams all around Hell’s kitchen but I’m coming up with jack shit. Can’t find the car he drove in or anything. Slick bastard must’ve had someone delete them beforehand.” Right as Matt came out placing his gloves on and holding the mask underneath his arm Karen stood up and said.
“Wait, wait, wait, wait I think I got something.” Everyone gathered around her and she opened up a security footage from the Forest Lodge hotel in upstate New York.  The very same cabin lodge where Kilgrave had taken (Y/n).  “This was taken sometime last night. A man coming in carrying a huge suitcase. See there he is giving it to the manager. And next thing you see is the entire staff leaving the lodge.”
“That’s him. That is him the bastard. He must’ve bought the hotel and removed the staff. He pulled this move with me when he bought back my childhood home. The bastard’s grooming her.”
“We have to call Mahoney and get the police up there.” Foggy said.
“No it’s too risky. We can’t risk any innocent people getting killed or becoming killers themselves.” Jessica said.
“She’s right. I’ll go.” Matt said.
“By yourself?” both Karen and Foggy said.
“You can’t take him on by yourself Murdock, trust me. And with your whole ‘no kill code’ he’ll play you on that weakness.” Jessica said.
“Then maybe that’s what I have to do.” At hearing this, Foggy and Karen’s hearts sunk and they were taken back by what Matt had just said, while Jessica was stunned to hear such a confession from the ‘good catholic boy’ Matt Murdock.
“You can’t be serious Matt.”
“He’s not like Fisk, Foggy. He’s not powerful in the sense of money or who he is, he’s powerful for his power. Much like Jessica….”
“Do not compare that asshole to me!” Jessica snapped furiously.
“He was forced to have these powers. One word is all it takes for him just walk freely and no one would be able to question it. This is what (M/n) wanted of me to do to protect (Y/n).”
“But it was also to show her that revenge isn’t the answer!” Foggy snapped.  “We’ll get her back Matt, but we need to think this through carefully.”
“I can’t wait anymore Foggy. I—I made a promise to her. To both Perry’s. I already lost one I—can’t lost another one. I can’t.” he put on his mask and without another word, he quickly raced up toward the staircase that led to the rooftop and left them in the dust.
“That stupid fucking idiot. He’s gonna get himself killed. I’ll go after him, you two stay here and call your detective friend Mahony but also get in touch with Hogarth. I don’t like the bitch but she’s got something that might help with the officers arresting Kilgrave safely, if he isn’t already dead.”
“We’re going with you!” Karen said.
“I already got one idiot out there, I don’t need two more. You two are clearly smarter than Murdock is right now. Look I know where his head’s at cause I’ve been there. And if Kilgrave can control him, he’s gonna need me to snap him out of it. If by some miracle he can’t control Murdock, god save him from the wrath of the Devil that’s coming for him.”
“Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. But it’s nothing compared to the fury of a father willing to do anything for his child.” Foggy said. “Ever since we first met her, Matt’s always been closer to (Y/n) than I have. I always see the way he looks at her, talks about her. He loves her like she was his own daughter, and ever since (M/n) died, he always kept saying how he promised her that he’d protect her. Be the parental figure she has left.”
“Cute. But it’s logic like that that’ll get you killed. When you’re not thinking clearly. Now both of you. Stay here! I mean it!” Jessica then left through the front door and quickly raced out of the apartment and followed Matt’s trail to Upstate New York.

“Ow.”
Matt, who had been lowering his battered body to the couch, leapt so far back he almost tripped over the coffee table at the unexpected voice. He let out a shout, grappling for something, anything, and righted himself before he hit the ground only by the hand that shot out to grab his. There was a moment in which he paused, too perplexed to figure out a single aspect of what had just happened, but he jumped to attention then, his instincts kicking in.
He registered the feeling of the hand clasped in his before he could do too much. “Y/N?” he breathed out. At the responding grunt, he shut his eyes and let you go, dragging his hands down his face. “You—what are you doing?”
You feebly scoffed, groaning as you lay back down, the sound of your bed throw rustling against your clothes. “What am I doing? I was sleeping before you sat on me.” You sounded exhausted, your voice small against the silence of the room, and Matt clutched his side, his injuries catching up to him. He reached down to the couch, his hands trembling, and lifted your legs enough for him to sit down before resting them across his lap. The relief that coursed through him could have sent him to something deeper than sleep there and then.
“I didn’t hear you,” he admitted, then tried his hand at a playful remark. “You had your adenoids removed since this morning?”
You attempted a weak kick at him through the blanket. “I do not snore.”
His ribs protested at the movement as your foot hit against him, and he sucked in a deep breath. Before you could comment on the discomfort you might have noted, he softly snorted, a response to your insistence. “Trust me,” he mumbled, leaning his head back against the couch, “I have super-hearing. You snore.”
“‘Least I don’t sleep-talk about Foggy going to clown school.” For someone who was barely awake, you were providing an interesting verbal battle, something Matt could only just stand. Really, he’d wanted to come home, dress his wounds as much as he could, shower, and then sleep for a million years. It was a wonder really that he’d made it to the couch before collapsing. But you were in the room, and he downplayed every injury he had when that was the case. You did not need to worry about him more than he knew you did.
“Why didn’t you hear me?” you mumbled, referring to your heartbeat, which, as he re-acclimatised himself to his surroundings, his home, he noticed was strangely sluggish.
His answer could have been one of many things—Because my head feels like it’s about to explode being a big contender—but he stuck with something simple, something you were likely too tired to challenge. “You’re wearing my hoodie,” he noted allowed. An excuse. “Got the scents mixed up.” He removed his mask, tossed it to the floor, and shut his eyes against the surge of nausea that overwhelmed him. For once, he was glad his senses hadn’t totally attuned yet. His insides were only remaining inside because of the dampening of the traffic noise outside the open window and the acrid scent of gasoline and antiseptic in—
Gasoline and antiseptic?
Any question he might have asked himself was interrupted by you, your small voice breaking through the haze of his mind.
“You’re bleeding, Matty.”
He breathed a short, unamused laugh. “Probably.”
“You are. Hold on.” He heard you sit up, your stiff joints complaining at the movement, and it was in that exact moment, when the blanket shifted as you swung your legs over the couch to stand, that the antiseptic washed over him once more, melded with the faint smell of copper. He lifted his head and followed his nose, turning to listen to your movements. You seemed to falter for a bit, stretching your limbs, and at the accompanying whimper, barely audible to anyone who wasn’t him, he shot a hand forward to grab your forearm before you could move away. He knew his knuckles beneath the gloves were red raw, he knew his face was cut in more places than one, he knew he had broken bones and open wounds littered across his body…but the blood wasn’t his. He’d patched up enough playground scrapes and paper cuts in your life to know the scent of yours.
“So are you. You’re bleeding.”
You sighed, giving your arm a shake. “I’m not. Let me get the first aid—”
“Why are you bleeding, Y/N?” Matt’s voice was firm, a clear warning not to lie to him. Yes, he felt as though his entire body could cave in, but he was still a lawyer, and he was still a big brother.
He was weak and off-guard enough for you to pull your arm away, heading towards the kitchen where you kept the first aid kit. “I’m not bleeding anymore, Matt. I’m fine.”
Matt let you go, listening to your slow footsteps. He shut his eyes and focused, sidestepping the pounding of his head. He caught the copper scent once more and moved around the coffee table. The opening of cupboards and your heartbeat grew stronger in his ears, and he could feel his senses firming. When he reached down to the table, his hands closed around material he knew to be what you had been wearing that morning. A polyester top and a denim skirt, black mesh tights…each article possessing the now-overpowering aroma of gasoline and your blood.
Raising his hand, he turned towards where you had sat back down on the couch to open the first aid box and rummage through.
“You were near one of the explosions.”
You stopped and sighed deeply. Matt heard you fall back against the couch. “You left your phone here and I didn’t want to ring your burner,” you told him calmly. “I was with Foggy and Karen at Mrs. Cardenas’s. Foggy wanted to help fix up the place and she made us dinner. Then, yeah, there was an explosion.” Matt straightened then, despite having sniffed out the answer for himself moments before. He walked back to the couch and sat down, waiting for you to continue. “I’m fine, Matt. I just needed a couple stitches in my arm, that’s all. The blood stained my top.”
He could argue a good case against the ludicrous ‘that’s all’ but knew neither of you were up for it. You obviously didn’t want to talk about it, so he would leave it until at least tomorrow.
Sitting back, he worked on removing his gloves. “And the others?” he asked, feeling an intruding sense of guilt work itself up to the knot in his throat. He knew the explosions had nothing to do with him, but perhaps if he’d been home, then you would have been too. “Were they hurt?”
“Mrs. Cardenas was hurt most. The doctors took her but I’m not sure where. Karen got away with a few scrapes and Foggy was given an IV drip—” At Matt’s tensing of his bruised knuckles, you rushed to assure him—“but they said he’ll be back on his feet soon. He’s okay. He’s a trouper, you know. Asked where you were before he worried about himself.” You paused then. “Damn. I should probably ring him. I told him I was going home to check on you but once I sat down I just…couldn’t get back up.”
Matt forced a smile at that, stretching an arm over to catch your knee in a gentle squeeze. “You’re okay?” He knew you weren’t—neither was he—but it was an instinctive question. A reassurance. Even if you hadn’t been caught up in an explosion, he’d still ask it. Living as the sister of a vigilante warranted those discussions, not that there were many with the experience.
You leaned forward to grasp his hand and he wrapped it in his, rubbing his thumb across the back.
“I’m okay,” you murmured, then sat up again, crossing your legs in front of you. You let his hand go and picked up the box again. “What about you? I had the news on for a bit.” He heard you rip a packet open, and the smell of disinfectant filled his nose.
He shrugged with a short chuckle. “Just another day at the office,” he teased, then sobered with a short hiss as you purposefully failed to warn him before pressing the antiseptic wipe to a cut on his temple. “You don’t have to worry about that,” he spoke through gritted teeth, “I have it under control.”
“I do if you keep coming home like this.” You had a hand on the top of his sweat-soaked head while the other dabbed at one of his multiple wounds. “This isn’t like your other vigilante missions. This is big. And it looks like it’s just gotten bigger.” Your words were quiet, tired and tinted with the pain it was taking your body to kneel beside him, but Matt clearly heard the worry infused in your tone. It wasn’t rare. “There were explosions today, Matt. You were surrounded and almost died.” You moved to another cut at his lip, and he squeezed his eyes shut. “Do you know how hard it was to hear that on the TV? That an anonymous man in a black mask was causing all of this shit? To sit here and not be able to do a single thing?” You lowered yourself to sit down, staring at him for a moment. “I need you to remember that if one day you just…don’t come home, I—I won’t know what to do with myself.”
Matt shook his head and turned to face you. “You can’t think—”
“No, I need you to know. I need you to, Matt.”
“I do know, Y/N.” He took the wipe from your hand and put it to the side, gently grasping you and pulling you into his arms. You willingly let him, the quivering of your voice and the speed of your heart telling your brother you were on the verge of tears. Matt wrapped his arms around you and pressed his lips to the top of your head, holding you tight. He knew he would have to find a way to slow down. For your sanity, if not for his own.
“Well—” You rubbed at your eyes—“next time you go off…think about me. Please. I don’t care if that’s selfish. Think about me.”
“Y/N…” Matt sighed, resting his chin where his lips had been. “I think about you every time I’m out. I think about what I’d do if you were one of those trafficked kids, or you were taken hostage by the Russians like Claire, I…” He licked his lips, the taste of antiseptic and blood lingering. “That’s what fuels me. No one else is gonna do it…I’m sorry it’s me. That’s how things turned out. But I want you to know that I intend on coming home to you every single time.” He let his words hang in the air between you, the distant sound of police officers yelling about opening up another road just about reaching his senses. There was no movement from you for a moment, just the soft thud of your heart and your spaced-out breaths as you clung to him. Eventually, you arduously pulled yourself up. You dropped your head against his shoulder and leaned into him, staring through the darkness at the back of the couch in front of you.
“You do too much, Matty,” you whispered.
Matt moved, lifting your head to kiss the tip of your nose with a comforting smile. “Let me check your wound.”
“I said it’s—”
“No arguments. Give me your arm.” He held his hands out expectantly, practically hearing the roll of your eyes. You did as you were asked though, tugging up your sleeve and holding your arm out for him. Matt took it in his hands, holding it gently at the wrist with one while the other ran slowly up your forearm until it hit an interruption in the ease of your skin beneath his fingers. He probed it enough to picture it in his mind. A four-inch cut just below the elbow, running in a jagged line. He could feel the stitches as he ran his finger over it, frowning at what he gauged from that alone.
“Whoever this needlework belongs to needs to return to medical school,” he surmised.
There was that roll of the eyes once more, though you didn’t take your arm from him. “It’s been a busy night, I hardly blame the nurse,” you said instead. You let him inspect you further, not commenting on the way he took your other arm and pulled up the sleeve to check for any other injuries you may have been hiding from him. “I need to call Foggy,” you repeated then, a little airily as you wondered how pissed he’d be that you hadn’t updated him on the ‘find Matt’ situation.
“You can do that later,” Matt said. He let you go, apparently satisfied for now, and reached for the first aid box as he felt a trickle of blood run from his hairline down the right side of his face. “Talk about something else. How was your appointment today with the doctor?” In the blur of the day, he’d almost forgotten that that morning had been pretty normal. He’d made you and Claire breakfast, headed to the so-called firm for a while, and then become his vigilante alter. You had arranged an appointment with your GP to discuss the headaches you’d been having recently. He figured he would have sensed something if there was something there, so he hadn’t been too worried, though he’d still been on the border of insisting he come along and wait for you in the waiting room.
Somewhat alarmingly, you began laughing, little giggles spilling from your lips as though someone had told an almost-funny joke. Matt frowned but the corners of his lips began to turn upwards nevertheless, the sound of your apparent amusement a break to the stress of the past few hours. He sat back and pressed another antiseptic wipe to where he could feel the unattended wound on his head, then, “Why’re you laughing? I assume I can stop worrying that you have a brain tumour or something?”
“It’s, uh—” You coughed, an attempt to cover up your spluttering giggles, though you valiantly failed—"it’s just light sensitivity. Apparently, I’m in the dark so much that natural lighting is a bit of a shock to my system.”
There was a brief moment of silence in which Matt’s face contorted from concerned to slightly, very slightly, amused. “Seriously?” he asked, shaking his head with a quiet chuckle. “Ouch. I’m sorry. I—I forget to put the lights on.”
“It’s not your fault, so do I.” You took the wipe from him and dabbed at the dried blood his hand was missing. You were clearly biting your tongue to keep from snickering. It was laughable, really. Some silly thing that was so simply…them. Living with a blind man certainly had its disadvantages, one of those being that he had no need to turn the lights of the apartment on and at some point, you’d merely given up doing it yourself, resorting to life in the dark. It certainly helped when you had to stumble out of bed in the dead of night and find the bathroom, though that was about it. “He said to let more light into the apartment as much as possible and allow my eyes to adapt. If I keep getting headaches, there’s a pill I can go on. Looks like you might have to start paying a little extra on the electricity bill.” Despite the medical severity of the situation, you suddenly snorted in yet more laughter, not noticing when you pressed against your brother’s cheek a bit firmer and Matt winced, lifting a hand to pull yours from his wounded skin.
“Okay, you,” he said around his smile, feeling the vibrations of your suppressed laughter as you leant into him.
“Sorry, I’m sorry. Just…” You sighed, clearly in a lighter mood, which he was happy for. “It’s been a crappy day, you know? There’s been a lot of those lately. Seems like we should laugh at something before the wind changes and we stay this way.”
Matt was silent. He shifted, feeling his ribs rub against each other. A hospital was the best place for him now, but the worst for Daredevil. You were more than right, in the most morbid of ways. It wasn’t that you’d both had the easiest of lives, but after leaving the children’s home, you’d had a better chance than others had gotten. Now, things were changing, and the horizon was looming red.
“You wanna change out of those clothes before you drop?” You broke through his thoughts. He opened his eyes, which he hadn’t realised he’d shut. “I should look at your other injuries.”
He nodded once. Anything more might have melted his brain. “Yeah.”
It was a struggle to remove his shirt, but you managed it together, you moving at Matt’s speed, which was uncharacteristically lethargic. You weren’t sure you’d seen your brother so damaged, but you kept your concern on the down-low. Matt lifted his arms with the last of his strength and you slowly eased his ripped shirt off, audibly exhaling at what you were consequently faced with.
Matt clutched at his ribs. “That bad, huh?”
“You’re like one of my canvases.”
“That…sounds like a compliment.”
You rolled your eyes. “It’s not. You’re a mess, Matt.”
“Thank you.”
“Shut up.” You gently put your hands on either side of his torso. “This one probably needs stitches. They all do, really. Should I call Claire?”
He waved his hand in immediate disagreement. “No, no, we shouldn’t bother her anymore. You can do it. I trust you…just go easy on me.”
“No promises.” You lapsed into a comfortable quietude as you stitched him back up, focusing intently on your work while he tried his best not to criticise it, which proved more difficult with every prickling burn that pierced his skin. You’d only stitched him up a couple times, having been amateurishly taught by him at a young age, but you had a steady artist’s hand, and he was grateful for it.
“You think she’ll come back here?” you asked, working on your last stitch. “Claire?”
Matt focused on his breathing. “I told her she’s safe. The Russians won’t be looking for her now. She’s free to head home if she wants.”
“What about what you want?”
He shook his head. “Doesn’t matter what I want. I’ve already done enough to her life.”
You finished your work and sat back. He could hear you tilting your head and humming under your breath before you decided it was as good as it was going to get. You wordlessly cleaned up as much of him as you could and packed up the first aid box, yawning and rolling your shoulders back to relieve the tension. “You deserve for it to matter, you know,” you told him as you shrugged out of his hoodie and helped him put it on.
He wasn’t sure about that, but in his exhausted state he couldn’t protest. He pulled himself forward and bent over slightly, intertwining his hands and resting them on his knees. “Speaking of canvases…any new masterpieces for me?” He detected the faintest scent of oil paint, though that could have meant his senses were butchered for the evening.
“You need to sleep.”
“I will.” He turned his head towards you, eyes staring just past you, and you knew he wouldn’t let up until you showed him. He looked half-dead, probably felt the same, but you guessed he was looking for something to soothe his mind before he fell asleep. You’d finished an oil painting before your appointment that morning and it still lay on the coffee table beside the bloody wipes and medical equipment. You stretched out an arm and picked up the canvas, handing it to him.
“I haven’t decided on a name for it yet,” you said. “It’s kinda all over the place with the colours…I started with reds and oranges but that turned into pinks and blues…somehow.”
Matt rested the canvas in his lap and flexed his fingers before running them gently across the surface, feeling the bumps and ridges and conjuring a picture in his mind. You had always loved painting, a hobby you’d busied yourself with growing up. You’d used acrylics then as they’d been the most affordable, but in your early teens you’d bought your first set of oil paints so the thickness of it would provide your brother a way to see with his hands.
You took his hand and moved it to the bottom. “There’re white tulips here.”
“Not magnolias?”
You frowned and dipped your head to the side, peering at the flowers you’d painted only hours before. “Huh. I thought the reference photo was a bit off.”
Matt smiled, spreading his hands across the rest of the canvas. “White magnolias symbolise the moon.”
You grimaced, sucking air through your clenched teeth. “Ooh. Uh. Not white anymore.”
Matt immediately lifted his hands. “I got blood on it, didn’t I?”
“Yup.” You took it from his lap and put it back on the table, mindful of the other bloodied materials. “Doesn’t matter. Maybe I’ll call it Blood Moon.”
“Mhm, don’t. Bad symbolism.”
“You and your symbolism.” You stood up and grasped his forearm, pulling. “Come on, you shouldn’t sleep on the couch.”
“I’m sorry about the painting.”
“I told you not to worry.”
“I need to shower.”
“God, you complain a lot. You don’t have the energy to shower, Matt. Wait for the morning.”
“At least you—ah—” He groaned with the sheer force it took to stand up, hearing and feeling the grating of his bones—“get your bed back.”
You made sure he was steady before you slung his arm across your shoulders, as though your small stature would actually prove very useful. “Yeah, won’t have to listen to your sleep-talking.”
“Won’t have to listen to your snoring,” he shot back, limping along with you through the corridors.
“I don’t snore.”
“Super-hearing, Y/N.”
Once you reached his room, you pushed him onto his bed in protest, calling out when he expected your movement and grabbed your arm as he fell to pull you with him. You fell against each other in a painful heap, you stretched out across him as you simultaneously shouted. Apparently, for a brief second, both of you had forgotten that you were in fact very injured and had had a hell of an evening. There were ten seconds in which neither of you uttered a single word amid your newfound discomfort.
“Shit,” you breathed out, your cheek squished against Matt’s chest, arms splayed out on either side.
Matt took a deep breath, wheezing at the extra weight. He dropped a hand on your back and, despite the agony, choked out a laugh. “Damn right.”
“Think I might stay in here tonight.”
“Okay.”
You managed to roll off him, staring up at the ceiling. “Gotta call Foggy first though. Can I use your phone?”
“Tell him I’m fine. I was home the whole time.”
You stared at him for a moment, then decided against commenting. Matt’s phone was on his bedside table, beside his glasses, and you crawled towards it, picking it up before flopping back on the mattress once more. Foggy’s number had been recently called, so you tapped his name and put him on speaker, resting the phone on your stomach. Foggy picked up after the first ring.
“Matt? Matt, are you—"
“Hey, Foggy,” you said before he could stress himself into cardiac arrest. There was a moment of silence, and then he let loose.
“Don’t ‘hey’ me, Mini Murdock. I thought you were dead!”
“Yeah, yeah—"
“Okay, I didn’t think you were dead, but I definitely didn’t think you were safe.”
Matt grinned, his eyes shut against the oncoming migraine, as you replied exasperatedly. “I’m sorry! I know.”
Foggy took an audible deep breath. “Are you safe?”
“’Course I’m safe. I only cut my arm.” You picked at a thread on the duvet.
“And Matt? You’re using his phone, so I assume he’s not waving his stick ‘round New York right now, right? Oh, but he could have left his phone—”
“He’s here, he’s fine.” A pause. “He was home the whole time.”
“Okay. Okay, that’s good.”
“How are you? Still alive, I guess.”
“I can go home tomorrow, so I guess that’s something. I’m luckier than most.”
“Yeah.” You cast your brother a look. A hand was folded across his stomach, rising with each difficult breath. You wouldn’t blame him if he was asleep. “Karen?”
“She left a bit earlier. Elena is gonna make a full recovery too. Another day at the office, huh?”
A corner of Matt’s lips twitched upwards. You tensed your jaw. “Don’t even. Okay, I gotta put Mr. Lawyer over here to bed—hey!” You shoved his hand from where it’d suddenly tweaked at your ribs. “Hey, don’t, I was injured too. Okay, okay, Foggy, I’m alive, and Matt’s alive. I’ve gotta go.”
“Yeah, me too. Nurse is coming in now. See you tomorrow, Y/N. Don’t get in any more explosions ‘til then.”
“Ha, ha,” you deadpanned. “Sleep well.” You hung up and tossed the phone on a pillow. A loud yawn left your mouth and Matt sat up. He pulled off his boots and leaned back to lift a corner of the duvet.
“Come on, you,” he said, “you need to sleep just as much as Mr. Lawyer.”
The bed felt softer than anything he’d experienced before, and he relished in the feeling of the cool sheets against his hot skin as he lay back. He was absolutely drained. A breath of relief he knew would be short-lived left his nose and he knitted his brows together as he thought over the events of the day. This wasn’t the end of it. Not at all. If anything, it was the beginning, and he swallowed at the thought.
“I’m gonna call Claire in the morning,” you said quietly from beside him.
“Why?”
“Because you need someone experienced to look at you.” He felt you roll over onto your side to face him. He remained on his back.
“Okay.”
You stared at him through the dark. The moonlight streaming in through the window made the flecks of blood on his forehead glint. He had a bruise forming on his jaw. You didn’t need super-hearing to note the slight wheeze of his breaths as they escaped his open mouth. Your brows furrowed as you fought back sudden tears. You knew he was Daredevil. You knew the type of stuff he did out there. You knew that he’d likely never stop. And you’d accepted that a long time ago…all the blood and the bruises and the constant covering-up for him you had to endure.
But it still sucked.
Matt moved a hand to catch yours, not saying a word yet offering every ounce of comfort he could tell you needed. You grasped it back and shuffled closer, resting your forehead against his shoulder as you held your hands between you. “Don’t ever die on me, Matty,” you murmured.
Matt opened his eyes. What could he say to that? Nothing. He couldn’t say that that would never happen, because he’d told himself long ago that he’d never lie to you, and though he hoped beyond anything that he’d be by your side as you grew well into adulthood, today had been one of many instances in which he’d been reminded of his mortality. Though he was better equipped than most, mortality was the bitterness of his life. And you…
He rested his forehead against the top of your head, hearing your breaths even out as you fell into a deep sleep. Your hand still clutched his with a force entirely befitting of you. Though you were little, and though he had no visual experience of what you looked like, he could be damn sure your heart was the strongest of anyone he’d known.
You were the pure sweetness of his life. Always.

“Okay, so that toasted avocado sandwich for you and a tuna one for you?” gesturing to both you and Matthew, Foggy went over today’s lunch wishes one last time as he neared the door.
“Yep,” you smiled, your toe absentmindedly tapping the floor as you watched the floppy-haired man exit the office.
“Cool,” he swung it open, jokingly adding just before he disappeared from your view, “have fun sorting out those documents while I’m gone!”
It took approximately five seconds after the door slammed shut for you and the other lawyer to run into each other's arms as if you were just two hormonal youths, unable to be in the same room with one another without ripping each other’s clothes off.
Tearing your lips away from his, your fingers began to feverously tug at his silky tie, “how long do you think we have till he gets back?” your frame curved into his touch as he dug into the softness of your ass, backing you up into his own office.
“Not long enough,” Matt groaned, kicking the door shut behind him as you soon crashed into the desk, “but we’ll make it work,” nipping against your lips as he clawed at your dress. Spinning you around, you braced on the cluttered table as the man behind you fervently lowered himself to the floor, scooping up the fabric around your hips as he descended.
Your eyes fluttered as you felt his stubble gently scratch against you, his hot kisses climbing up the tingling flesh of your thighs, “not that I don’t love the sexiness of sneaking around with you,” your point was abruptly halted by a strangled whimper as he finally reached your core, hooking your underwear to the side for him to bury his face in your heat, “but when are we gonna tell at least him?”
Mumbling against your glossy folds, the vibration made you shiver, “soon, I promise,” causing your hand to swiftly shoot down in order to impatiently yank him back up. As your fingers frantically fumbled with his zipper, desperate to feel him inside of you, he leaned in and kissed the shell of your ear, “I just want you a little longer all to myself…”

Hi! Sorry to bother you but I was wondering if I may request something for Father Figure Frank Castle? May I request Father Figure Frank Castle/The Punisher x Archer daughter reader (shes like Kate bishop) 100% platonic
Frank Castle
W/ Archer Daughter
Tumblr media
Reader: female
Type:Headcanons + short scenarios
Notes: Peter, Kate, Pietro, Clint and Green arrow Cameo
Warnings: none
░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░
He actually thought it was funny at first
Seeing you with such a weapon,
But when he sees you use it
Frank's impressed none the less
And is also glad you can protect yourself
Goes to all your tournaments even if he's gotta hide a bit
Definitely helps you set up a scope on your bow
Only allows you to come along for "missions" if you stay far and out of sight
Haha bow Sniping time
Fought Kate Bishop and Hawkeye?
OH ABSOLUTELY
You wrecked both of them 101%
That was till you're all on the same team
You still rocked there shit though
"You're like...super cool and super good looking."
"Um." Y/n spoke, "thanks..."
Basically Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson but you got bows, and your not lawyers.
Still pretty cool though
I know Pietro, Kate, and Peter time lines don't all line up correctly but we gonna make it happen anyways.
Kate's 101% your best friend, and the only one you only get to talk about "work" to thats not Frank.
When it's just you and Frank you often watched from the roofs, snipping out any near by enemies
You don't exactly have the money to buy arrows or bows, so everythings hand made
He always patches you up after bows you were building snapped in half and right in your face
You're intials are carved into the bows and so are his.
Father daughter bounding; making weapons! Yay!
Yet another mistake in the teamwork section you're knocked over after knocking and arrow and groaning as you lay on you're back
"Bet you didn't see that coming" he laughed, catching a glimpse of the teen your age, he was handsome, but soon he was gone
"Yay..." y/n Groaned, "You better run pretty boy..."
"Y/n?" Clint asked, "What the hell you doing?"
"Pretty fast boy, double take...don't tell dad."
"White hair."
"Yep... " Y/n spoke sitting up, "nope gonna stay down."
So now your introduced to everyone.
You bet Pietro got his ass beat by Frank before though.
"Wait wait! You're in my bio chem class!"
"Peter Parker!?"
"Yeah! Hey!" He laughed nervously jazz hands in the air.
Great: there's more kids now
Clint and Frank being dads against there wills
But you'll always be Frank's #1 priority, it's not playing favorites- well- it's just different
Like burning building? You inside? Runs in
Bullet coming towards you despite having armour? Jumps infront of you
Will use your own bow against you if he has too
What? Found you and Pietro making out on a roof top?
Definitely shoots an arrow way to close to comfort, lucky shots.
You actually teach him how to use it just in case.
God your so bossy when you teach, he actually teases you about it.
He'll never be as good as you.
Archer Teir list:
The best of the best: Hawkeye/Clint Barton
Im basically the best of the best but too young: Y/n Castle
Im just right behind: Kate
Rather just not: Peter, Pietro
Would stab you with your own arrow instead: Frank Castle
What? What's that? Someone trying to make a move on your dad
Arrow
Thats all
Probally fought Green Arrow at some point
Eating things off your arrows, roasted Marshmallows, an apple you skewed, idk a hot dog.
Super unsanitary but you still do it
You're bow because its hand wood crafted by you and ur pops, has alot of carvings in it due to being board
You bet Pietro's initials and yours are carved in it with a heart
For you're birthday Kate actually surpised you with a super super fucking expensive bow
Frank won't say it; but damn did he love that wooden bow you guys made together.
Lots of good memories.
"Oh...kate. it's great but-"
"Oh! No! No! You don't have to use it! It's back up! I know your's is like super special!"
You're heart 😭
Peter also like made you web arrows, which your super excited about
And Pietro felt kinda stupid, he made this little beaded flowers for you for your bow.
You put it on right away and kiss him, but Frank drags you away as you complain.
Frank purposely separates you and Pietro
But now he's stuck between you guys making lovey eyes at one another
And you force him to stay there: he picked this battle: he lost
It's almost like a little family dinner real late at night at some crappy dinner.
You'd never think some wooden sticks and a stick with a string on it would get you so far in life, make you so happy
"Wow can shoot an arrow at a target from 1000 feet but cant make the paper goal."
You're determined to flick that peice of hard bacon inebtween Peter's little finger goal
And when you finally do it the whole tables celebrating you
"Thank you! Thank you! Kiss for the winner-"
"No-"
"Damn it!"
Yeah this is the life: even if it knocks you down sometimes. You're glad Archery's given you thr chance to built more upon the father daughter realtionship you have with Frank
After long missions you'll lay your head either on his shoulder on in his lap he tell you: "you did good kid. You did good kid" always makes you sleep easy
Say a bad dream happened: like you almost lost him, so you're 17 year old ass will go check on him and end up just sleeping in his bed with him he's holding you proactively
Even if you're 80 years old your still his little girl.
And he knows. He knows you can protect yourself, bow and arrow and all.
It doesn't stop him from wanting to protect you.

matt murdock as your legal guardian headcanons :)
Tumblr media
type of writing: headcanons / scenario
word count: 1.15k
request: yes / no
dynamic: matt murdock x teen!reader
characters: reader, matt murdock, foggy nelson, karen page
a/n: ik this isn't a request, but it's something i think about a lot!! i had to get it out lol. i was originally gonna use a more aesthetic picture but then i found this & it was too cute not to include lol <3 also requests are still open! just send in an ask :)
taglist: @nutellani (fill out this form if you'd like to be included!)
-----------------------✰----------------------
first i’m gonna explain how matt murdock actually became your legal guardian.
because i just want to establish that lol
so your parents were involved with wilson fisk.
you had no idea about this of course, since you were very young when they were still involved in his business.
and btw when i say business i mean like his shady dealings
you were kind of left on your own a lot as a kid. you didn’t really mind it, and figured out how to entertain yourself.
however, when you were five years old, you returned home to find a truly awful crime scene.
you would learn much later in life that your parents had decided to report fisk, but before they were able to do so, he had them killed.
the perp was still there, and almost got you. however, a man with a black mask over his eyes was able to stop him for a second, yelling at you to run.
so you did.
you ended up at an orphanage, but one day, a blind man came in looking to adopt.
you felt an immediate connection, and he adopted you when you were six.
you’ve been inseparable ever since!!!
he told you all about your parents when you were older btw
anyways so now onto the fun stuff!!
one perk of living with matt is that your room is bomb.
bc his apartment is lowkey the coolest
if you like to visualise like i do, i imagine that your room is like next to the closet where he keeps the daredevil stuff
RANDOM LITTLE DETAIL LOL
anyways it’s super cosy
and you also can basically see in the dark because even though it doesn’t matter if the lights are on, matt tells you to keep them off because then the electric bill will stay low
you called him a cheapskate but he said that was rude :(
you still did it though #rebel 🥶🥶🥶
you guys bully each other all the time
it’s the way you bond :)
you go to the nelson & murdock offices after school or during the summers.
you have your own little desk there!
one time you said it was too distracting and so foggy bought a privacy folder for you LMAO
needless to say it didn’t help at all
most of the clients are really nice and they’ll ask you about school and life and stuff
you kind of put them at ease
you tried to talk to matt about him being kind of intimidating but he didn’t want to hear it.
and then foggy kept asking why you didn’t think HE was intimidating.
“i mean come on y/n! have you SEEN this face? matt has a little baby face compared to mine!!”
you laughed so hard omg
matt calls you if he needs anything or if you need to tell him something, but you mostly just text foggy to keep them both updated
in my mind, foggy texts like five texts for one sentence
he uses every emoji twice
and every time he uses an abbreviation he always capitalizes it and puts the real meaning in parentheses next to it
here is an example
“hi y/n. hope your day is going well 😃😃 matt and i just won our case 😎😎 so we are going to go to josie’s tonight to celebrate!!!!!!! yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🥳🥳 let me know if you need anything from the store 🏬🏬 ok TTYL (TALK TO YOU LATER) OMG (OH MY GOSH) matt just fell LOL (LAUGH OUT LOUD) 😱😱 gotta go ☹️☹️”
he’s so silly i love him
also matt collects records and cds.
he used to go with you to buy them and let you choose whatever you thought looked good
which is why you have everything from no doubt to frank sinatra to obscure french music
you always have music on at the apartment
like all the time
which brings me to my next point
matt never wanted you to have to see him as daredevil
but it wasn’t like the topic could be avoided.
so when he comes home with awful wounds and stuff, you help clean him up, just like he used to do for his father
and you’re damn good at it too. you have a very steady hand and no squeamish attitude at all.
but similar to how the scotch used to help matt steady himself when he helped his father, music helps you steady yourself.
you’ll listen to soft & acoustic songs, and it helps ease you AND him.
usually you don’t talk about the things he does. but if he mentions something, you will
but usually it goes without any mention
in my mind, you and matt have a tradition of listening to baseball games on the radio together
you don’t really have a team you alaays root for, it changes year to year
but the two of you get really invested.
like you left the office early every time there’s a game so you can listen together.
or one time he and foggy were prepping a case and there was a game on so he wasn’t even focused HAH
i also think that even though josie’s is a bar, you’re allowed in
not only that, josie will let you behind the bar to make yourself a drink.
ok not like an alcoholic one but still
you have this one mixture of cranberry juice and ginger ale with a lime that you call the “y/n special” and foggy tried it and spit it out :(
josie and some of the regulars almost kicked him out LMAO it was so funny
ok also i have this very clear vision of something foggy does
so to preface this
it’s a rainy day
or just a generally gloomy day
and you and matt are home.
karen is over too.
maybe you’re reading a book and matt and karen are prepping a case or something
and then the door suddenly bursts open
matt isn’t surprised because he heard it coming obvi
but it caught you off guard
you look over to the kitchen, where the perpetrator is completely covered by the GIGANTIC grocery bags he’s holding.
“oh no.”
you say, and matt shakes his head. karen is already laughing
foggy drops the bags and exhales, a huge grin overtaking his face.
“WHO’S READY FOR FOGGY’S FAMOUS CHICKEN SOUP????!!!”
“we are” you and karen and matt say in unison, trying to hold back laughter
basically every time the littlest bit of winter rolls around, foggy will bring every ingredient known to man over to your and matt’s apartment and make chicken soup
you make fun of this tradition but it’s been going on since foggy and matt were in law school
and the soup is actually so good
you four always eat it together and it makes you so happy
your family, all together at one table :)

Whether they decide to bring Dick Grayson, or a whole new made up boy/girl character, this Batman NEEDS a Robin. He definitely needs that light in his life, and the chance to comfort a kid that's potentially gone through what he has.

___________________________________________________________
It was a slow night, but it was not an uncommon outcome.
Matt winced a little as he slipped through his window, the punches he received on his side were starting to swell and throb. He could taste the copper and sweat on his tongue as he quietly closed it, listening to his surroundings while doing so.
It was pure silence, minus the faint sound of pattering feet on the other side of the apartment; But it was familiar, welcoming. He knew who was inside and… well, the person should be inside at this ungodly hour, or Matt may have a mini heart attack. He could relax now, stiffness gone as he tuned in on the soft humming and light rhythm of the muscle in her chest. He could mentally check off the box in his head he’s constantly making every time he goes out alone.
She’s safe. She’s fine. He thinks on repeat. It was a mantra he’ll never grow out of.
The man stuck in two worlds crossed the room, guiding himself to the couch in what he would call his living room. He sighs, melting into the rough texture, pulling the black makeshift mask off. He closes his eyes for a moment, leaning his head back.
“So what did you do tonight?” Call out the sweet voice with a sassy undertone.
Matt could hear her walking around the kitchen, grabbing things she needed for cleaning up. He smiled, picturing the curious, yet monotone expression.
“Did you stop a bank robbery? A gang? Some wanted criminals that you so happen to stumble upon?” She continues, swiping some aspirin off the open shelf.
Even though she was still behind him, Matt held up his hand. “Uh, no need for that tonight.” He said, sensing her raising an eyebrow in surprise.
“Wow. That’s a shock.” She replies, genuine. She walks around to the front of the couch, placing various items on the coffee table. She lightly taps her father’s shoulder, holding out a glass. “Water, Dad?”
“Yes, please.” He said, as she trailed it to his palm. He takes a few small sips to ease his parched throat, unwinding a little bit more. “And to answer your question, it was just a mugger.”
He was aware of her eyebrow raised once more.
“Are you sure it wasn’t muggers?” She said, concernedly.
He couldn’t blame her though, his lip was definitely busted (again), a gash on his forehead, and a map of bruises. He brushes it off nonchalantly, doing his goofy smirk.
“No, no. It was just one.” Matt says, hearing her shake her head as she rummage through the first aid kit.
“Well, did you fight the Hulk or something? One mugger surely gave you a run for your money.” She asked, swiping the wavy strands of his hair away to see the cut better.
“I think I would be dust if I did fight the Hulk. Although, he was over six feet tall.”
She chuckles. “Oh, so you fought Captain America then. He must have gone rogue after what happened during those helicarriers.” She squints a little bit in the poor light, the blood still a bright red color upon the open skin. “Doesn’t look that deep. You just need a bandage.”
He copies her little laugh as she rips open a bandage and snags a sterile towel.

__________________________________________________________
Index: (All story order might possibly change in the future)
Season 1:
Story 1: Welcome Home The Blood and Bruises
The Introduction to it all. Matt Murdock is just glad he has someone to patch him up so he doesn’t have to bother Claire for the night. Although, he still feels guilty that he’ll never stop smelling the dried blood beneath her fingernails (Set pre-season 1).
Story 2: I'd Burn The World For You
The new addition to Nelson & Murdock is great, they surely enjoy the company and help. Although, Matt would have to admit, Miss Page was a curious thing. Maybe TOO curious when it comes to personal questions (Set shortly after S1E1, "Into The Ring").
Story 3: Crossing The Line
While Foggy and Kaila make it a mission to find out what's going on with Karen, Matt is dealing with a person from his past who dared disrespect his daughter in his own home (Set during S1E7. "Stick").
Story 4: I've Got The Devil Inside Me
He's already confessed his fears, but sometimes talking it over with a love one is so much better than any priest.
Or, Matt has no choice but to spill his fears to Kaila who just desperately wants him to come home safe (Set during S1E8 & E9, "Shadows in the Glass" & "Speak of The Devil").
Story 5: The One Where The Uncle Finds Out
Kaila knew she should have made up an excuse and pushed him away, but she knew she couldn't patch him up alone. She just hopes Foggy isn't going to pass out before strangling her father or herself (Set during S1E9, E10 & E11, "Speak of The Devil", "Nelson V Murdock" & "The Path of The Righteous").
Story 6: No Good Dead...
Crashing under the weight of her Father and Foggy’s dilemma, Kaila heads to Karen’s house for a break but it takes a turn for the worse; and unfortunately it will test the young girl’s strength and sanity. (Set during 1x11, 1x12 & 1x13 "The Path of The Righteous", "The Ones We Leave Behind" & "Daredevil".)

Rebel - Chapter 4
Main Masterlist Series Masterlist
Summary-  (Y/N) Is a Matt Murdocks 14 year old daughter who is just entering high school and is really struggling. She doesn't have a regular life having a blind father. He can't help with homework, Can't give her a have a ride to school, He can't see how often her face falls when she lies to him. Of course she has her Uncle Foggy and Aunt Karen but (Y/N) feels like to much of a burden until the one and only Frank Castle comes into her life and seems to be more of a father figure  then Matt ever has.
Tumblr media
You walking home was a hassle. People would stare since you had a cup of coffee on your chest but you couldn't care less. You were to busy thinking about the man you bumped in to and the argument that followed after that encounter. ' I'm not naïve... I feel bad that I ruined his coffee... I wonder if he goes there all the time... I want to at least say sorry properly but how would I do that?' you asked herself as she walked the ten minutes back home by herself.
You check your phone. 'It has only been an hour! gah just great. Dad will be asking questions.' You walked up the stairs and use your key to open the apartment door and shut it behind you once you walk inside. "Sweetpea? What are you doing here? You haven't been gone long." Matt says concern in his voice. "Uh yeah someone spilled coffee on me by accident and then me and Abigail got into a fight." Walking down the small hallway and into the living space. "She asked why you didn't give me money for anything and I told her that I don't need it that often." A light sad tone leaving your lips. "She changed. Now she is talking about some guy who was probably in his late teens and it seemed to be the only reason she wanted to hang out with us. Dad? What do I do?"
You sit next to him on the couch. "Well... People change a lot especially in their teen years. I can't exactly say what that I know what you are going through but you can always talk to me." He wraps an arm around your shoulder. " I am not going to make choices for you so you need to evaluate some things and make a decision. You are a smart girl you can do it." He gives her a smile and ruffles your hair. You nod and smile then he begins to talk again "But what I will say that you do need to do is get a new shirt because you smell like black coffee." You laugh at this. "Alright daddio I am." you say as you get up and go to your room to change. When you come out you sit next to him again. "Are we still going to hang out today?" You ask hopefully. "Mhm yeah I also asked Karen and Foggy  if they would like to join. That okay with you?" You gasp excited " Yeah! That is awesome!" Matt nods "They will be over at 1:30 so you have some time to kill. Anything in particular you would like to do?"
Matt asks and a smirk forms on your lips. "How about a game of Hide and Seek?" and with that you both burst out laughing. "Very funny missy." He then sighs and looks in your general direction. "Seriously though... What would you like to do?" You suddenly feel concerned. "Dad? What’s wrong? You seem like you have a lot on your mind." Matt hugs her again. " Its nothing (Y/N) Just work stuff that has me stressed out. Nothing to worry about alright?" He says kissing the top of her head then standing up. " You can talk to me to you know... I am here for you dadster." You say seriously but he lets out a chuckle and shakes his head. " I know but there are something’s you can't help with." He says causing you to mutter under your breath. "I help with a lot of things." With Matt being who he is heard it but chose to ignore it because you were right, You help a lot around the house. " I'm going to go to my room or something." You say and stand up and walk to your room shutting the door.
You hear the sound of the apartment door opening and a shuffle of feet. 'Aunt Karen and Uncle Foggy must be here' You say jumping from your bed and going out the door to the living room. "uncle foggy!" you yell and leap on him. Foggy  grunts as he  catches you and ruffles your hair. " Hey potato!" you groan at that nickname. "Come on Uncle Foggy I didn't mean to eat all the steak fries. That was one time!" You say letting go of him then look over at Karen. "Hey aunty Karen!" You say giving her a tight hug. "Hey sweetheart. Are you enjoying your weekend?" She asks with a smile. "Yes its great other then having coffee spilled on me." You say giving an embarrassed chuckle. Your dad stands up after half assly stacking the papers and closing his computer. "Ready to go?" Matt asks and all three nods and start going towards the door. " So where are we going to eat?" You ask as you begin to exit the building. "There is this new sub-sandwich restaurant near by and I was thinking we could go there. Is that alright with you potato head?" Foggy asks. You gasp dramatically "I am considering this fat shaming for I am not a potato!"
You exclaim. "Is that a yes or a no?" Foggy asks completely ignoring that statement. You pout and say "Yes..." Matt and Karen chuckle. "Lets get a move on then." Your dad chimes in. As you approach the shop you bounce on your toes as you enter the shop, order your food and sit in a booth toward the back left of the restaurant. "So how is school going?" Karen asks as she places her cup of tap water to the side after taking a sip to the side. "Its school... As I assume work is work. At least that's what dads answer is when I ask him..." You respond. "Come on (Y/N) you don't need to throw me under the bus." Matt says ruffling your hair. "Well what about your friends? Have they been good?" She asks. "We all got in a fight... Abigail made a huge fuss over something stupid but its over now." You says slightly irritated but not at Karen. Once your food comes out you all begin to eat and sadly you feel that lunch ended to early for your liking because now you are back home and resting in your room reading a book. You like playing a game with your dad if he ever has free time to go to a book store with you. You would ask him a genre he would like and then let him drag his hand across the shelf and tell him to stop and that would be the book you would read together. He doesn't really do that anymore. He is very consumed with work but you deal with it. At least you both are happy. At least... you pretend to be happy to make sure he isn't worried about you and all the stress you go through. Everything will be fine eventually.
