A few things about this here blog:
You can call me C, I’m a nblw and a huge fan of D/s—when I’m not yearning for a butch, I am yearning for my 2D malewife. This is primarily a Levi self-ship/Fem!OC ship blog, but you will also find GN!Reader content, aot meta, and fanart of other Levi ships (namely eruri and levihan, I don't actively ship either tho I think they’re neat). NOT a fan of Levi x minor ships, ie ereri and rivamika. Lots of NSFW content in general, ergo 🔞.
*FYI: I hc Levi as a bisexual bratty sub who leans service top, may or may not be transmasc, and blue collar through and through. But ofc I don't mind other Levi flavors (I also reblog traditionally masc dom Levi and some white collar Levi stuff).
If you’d like me to tag anything specific, just ask!
Non-Levi usually sapphic smut tags are princess Domme desires & sapphic posting.
You can check my posts which includes my musings that aren't strictly about Levi or aot.
I write, you can find my fanfics, drabbles & headcanons in bitchy writes —My fanfics tend to be fairly long stories which take time, I am not on a schedule.
I draw, you can find my art in bitchy draws. Same as my fanfics, I take my sweet ass time.

Fic Stats Tag Game
I was tagged by @cosmicatta! Thank you so much, this was fun!! :D
Rules:
Give us the links to your fics with the most hits, most kudos, most comments, most bookmarks, most words, and least words.
Most hits: A Little Bundle of Drama (34,658), a Shingeki no Kyojin/EreRi omegaverse mpreg, but it's the only actual multichapter I've ever written (abandoned at 26 chapters and so old, I hate it, the beginning it so badly written xD) so I'm hesitant to count it in any stats since it has an unfair advantage xD Other than that one, it's There are sparks between us (16,794) (it also has an unfair advantage of having ASL tagged on top of LawLu but I'll take it xD)
Most kudos: There are sparks between us again (1,970)
Most comment threads: A Little Bundle of Drama (210) again xD But then it's At the bottom of the sea (46) and that makes me very happy, my asexual!LuLaw omegaverse baby <33
Most bookmarks: There are sparks between us (476) again ahahaha makes me happy it's not ALBoD tho
Most words: A Little Bundle of Drama (78,401) to no one's surprise at this point xD Longest one shot would be Happy Anniversary (20,202), the single one only smut I've ever written and will ever write.. took me 10 months and 10 years of my lifespan to finish and for what.. (Shingeki no Kyojin/EreRi and please read the tags I BEG) For One Piece/LawLu it's A Burst of Colour (Happy Birthday) (7,195), a LawLu birthday fic for Law from 2020 (needs heavy edits ugh)
Least words: Hired! (475) is the shortest individually posted fic, an IcePaulie newspaper article which I wrote for a DILF zine giveaway <3 But I think the shortest independent drabble I have is this Buggy drabble (184) which I wrote for @/goldenandhappy during my 600 followers event (I posted all of them in a single fic to not spam on AO3 but they're not connected at all)
Tagging whoever wants to do this <33

Requests
I am accepting requests for Attack on Titan one shots/drabbles/scenes. I will begin writing for other fandoms at some point. I will endeavour to complete requests within good time but I won't be giving any date/time estimations especially as I am about to start a new job.
Things I won't write
Incest
Adult-Minor relationships with the exception of very close age gaps like 18-year-old dating a 17-year-old in their year group. On this note also I may write Ereri if Eren's age is bumped up considerably in canonverse or I'll write them in a modern AU with less of an age gap).
Self-harm is not something I'm comfortable writing.
More will be added as and when they come up.

Free [Riren/Ereri Drabble] | Angst, Reincarnation
Eren died early in his first lifetime spent with the love of his life. They exhausted all knowledge available, experiments, and and scoured every inch of history in order to save Eren from Ymir's curse, still he died.
Levi vows that he will find him in their next life and love him better—longer. Even if it takes him thousands of years, Levi vowed to find him and give him the life they weren't able to have together.
And they did, they loved each other so much that they found each other. With their memories intact, the universe's fucked up way to help them and make them pay for all the sufferings and death's from their first life.
Levi and Eren found each other in all lifetimes. They met, fell in love, and they part ways; a vicious cycle.
Still, fate seems like they have a different plan for them. Eren died—dies at the same age, over and over again.
Levi had all the time and lifetime in the world but never enough time with Eren. All the time in the world is never enough for Levi when it comes to Eren.
Levi wants to marry him, live with him, grow old with him, and fuck—maybe even build a family with him but whenever he meets Eren, he was still in college and he would die just before or after he gets out of it.
Levi was tired and heartbroken.
And Eren knew it.
He knows that Levi was the one burdened with all of this being the one left alone after he's done—dead. So he decided, he would let Levi go after this lifetime.
He would set Levi free.

Could you do 55 ‘How do you know my name?’ Please? (i dont care what genre lol) Thank you! 💕💕
Thank you for the ask!! ♥ I’m so sorry it took me so long to write it!
Since you let me choose the genre I went for pure fluff ;) (since the last prompt was pure angst) I hope you’ll like it!! 💕
22: “How do you know my name?”
************
Levi was used to work until late hours, his job keeping him extremely busy, but today he had been able to leave early for the first time in months. He was looking forward to drinking a good and hot cup of tea, maybe try the blend his sister had offered him for his birthday, the thought of a green, flowery tea relaxing his mind before even tasting it.
When he arrived to his apartment, he was surprised to find the door unlocked. He had thought Mikasa would still be at university at this hour, but then he remembered she didn’t have classes on Tuesday’s afternoons. It could be a good opportunity for them to catch up; they hadn’t had a real conversation in a while, besides the usual small talks necessary between flatmates.
As he entered his living room however, instead of the silky, black hair and almond-shaped ebony eyes he was expecting to see, he was met with two green orbs and messy brown hair tied in a bun. The bag Levi was carrying with him fell on the wooden floor with a loud thump which caught the attention of the man leisurely sitting on the couch.
Levi couldn’t say anything, nor think. His mind was completely blank except for the many visions of the boy he once knew invading his brain and leaving him breathless, one word echoing in his ear until he could hear his own voice say it.
“E-Eren…?”
Levi could feel his throat constricting and an unpleasant burning sensation in his eyes. It took all of his self-control to not start crying here and there, and to not rush into the man’s arms.
How could Eren be here, now, in front of him? Levi had spent so many years thinking about him, so many sleepless nights talking about him with Mikasa, wondering if they would ever see him in this life, comforting each other from his absence. And yet, here he was, sitting in his living room like he owned the place, like he had been here countless of times, and Levi still couldn’t believe his eyes.
He had found him.
“Who are you?” a voice cut through Levi’s thoughts and brought back his focus on the man looking at him with furrowed brows, both suspicion and confusion reflecting in his eyes. “And how do you know my name?”
A shiver went through Levi’s entire body as he processed the words he had just heard and realized what they implied.
Eren didn’t remember.
He was looking him up and down, like he was seeing him for the first time, and that thought hurt Levi more than it should have. A tense silence was surrounding the two men before it was broken by the sound of a door opening and closing, the rustle of plastic bags, and then soft footsteps coming in their direction.
“Levi!?” a feminine voice asked from behind the raven and Levi eventually tore his gaze away from the brunet in front of him to look back at his sister. She seemed to be even more shocked than he had been when finding Eren in their living room, but soon her expression turned guilty. “What are you doing here? I thought you weren’t coming back until later.”
Mikasa went to stand beside Eren, her eyes going back and forth between the two men at her side. Eren had started to relax when she had entered the room and looked relieved now that he had the confirmation she knew who Levi was. The raven, on his side, was still on edge and confused about what was going on. It was perfectly clear Mikasa had known about Eren for some time, but why hadn’t she said anything? Why hadn’t she told him that she had found Eren? She knew how much important he was to Levi.
“I finished early,” Levi replied, his voice strained and his hands fisted at his sides.
Mikasa seemed to have noticed his rigid stand, but before she had the time to react and do anything about it, Eren was the first to speak.
“Wait, is that your brother? The one you told me about?” Mikasa nodded, not saying a word, her eyes not leaving Levi’s for a second. Eren looked at him too, curiosity painted all over his face before his lips parted in a huge grin. “He’s totally not like I had imagined!”
Mikasa cringed at what Eren had said, which made Levi squint his eyes at her. What had she been going around telling Eren about him? But that wasn’t what he wanted to know right now, and she probably knew it. She heaved a long sigh before exchanging a few words with Eren, then she moved towards her room, motioning Levi over and closing the door behind him.
“I know what you’re going to say, and trust me, I’m really sorry I didn’t tell you about Eren,” she said as she sat down on her bed, looking more tired than ever.
“Since when?” Levi only asked, sitting beside her, hiding his face in his hands.
“We’ve been in the same class ever since I started university.”
“A little over 2 years, then…” Levi looked at her and she flinched when she saw his expression. He had no idea what she could read on his face, but it was probably a mix between confusion, betrayal and sadness. “Were you even planning on telling me?”
“I- I honestly don’t know,” Mikasa confessed. She put her hand carefully on his, gauging his reaction before putting her head on his shoulder. “He doesn’t remember, Levi,” she whispered, a hint of hurt in her tone.
“Yeah, I noticed that,” Levi snorted, trying to mask his own.
Mikasa explained how meeting Eren had been for her, how she had been anxious in the beginning since his memories were gone. However, as they became close friends, she realized it wasn’t important. Memories or not, he was still Eren, and that was all that mattered to her.
She had considered telling Levi about him so many times, but then she would remember their conversations and would become afraid of Levi’s reaction. Before she knew it, she would only invite Eren when she knew Levi was working and had come up with a lie as to why Eren couldn’t be here when her brother was home.
“Not knowing if he’s out there is much worse for me than him not remembering,” Levi told her.
She nodded quietly and they stayed like this for a little longer before Mikasa stood up and went out of her room, Levi on her heels.
“Is everything okay?” Eren asked them the moment they got out. He was standing in the middle of the hallway, suddenly looking out of place, a big contrast to the way he had been sitting comfortably on the couch before Levi arrived. “Should I leave?”
Levi frowned at the question, which made Eren flinch under his scrutinizing gaze. What was it that Mikasa had told Eren? That her brother was an asocial weirdo that didn’t like having strangers in his apartment?
Thanks for that, kiddo, Levi thought as he tried to soften his features.
“It’s fine, you kids can continue whatever the fuck you were doing before I arrived. I’ll just make myself some tea and move to my room.”
Eren seemed to relax at his words before he looked deep in thoughts. Levi wondered what was going on inside his head, no longer being able to read him as he used to; Eren was basically a stranger to him now. Mikasa, however, seemed to understand what he was about to say because she looked at Levi with an apoplectic face before going to stand beside Eren.
“You can stay with us if you want to, you know,” Eren said with a small smile. “I’m finally meeting Mika’s brother, so I’d like to get to know you better if that’s alright with you. Levi, was it?”
“Yeah,” Levi replied, a bit at a loss for words. He was torn between his need to be close to Eren, his curiosity to know him better, and the sickening feeling that the person who mattered the most to him was gone forever.
“I’m Eren, but I guess you already knew that,” the brunet laughed, extending his hand for Levi to shake. He took it carefully, as if he would get burnt at Eren’s touch. “Nice to officially meet you!”
***
After that day, Eren came over to hang out with Mikasa at times Levi would be home too. The three of them would sit in the living room, Eren and Mikasa talking about their days at university, their insufferable teachers and never-ending homework and exams, while Levi would listen to them, drinking his tea. Eren always made sure to include Levi in the conversation, asking for his input or asking about his own day. It was hard for Levi to tell if he was trying to be polite or if he really wanted to know his opinion.
Sometimes Levi would feel out of place between the two young adults, not understanding why he was there in the first place. Then he would look at Eren, at the way he would scrunch his nose when he was upset, the way his eyes would sparkle when he was talking about something he liked, or the way his lips would curve into a smile when he laughed, and he would know. He was there because he wanted to get to know this new version of Eren, because he wanted to see him and be by his side. It was enough for Levi to endure hours of conversations he sometimes didn’t understand because he finally had him back, and it was all that mattered.
Eren wasn’t very different from the boy in Levi’s memories. He was still very passionate, always putting his soul in everything he did, he still had a quick temper and a way of hiding his embarrassment and weaknesses with fake words of confidence, and he still had a strong devotion to the one he loved and cared about. It wasn’t only his features that were similar, his soul was also the same, and that was what Levi tried to focus on.
It hadn’t taken long for Levi to fall for Eren all over again. It was impossible for him to be indifferent to the man’s smiles and passionate eyes. At night, Levi would hear his deep voice whispering in his ears and feel his hot skin against his palms before he would wake up in his bed, cursing his old memories for those strange dreams.
Levi had feelings for Eren, and Mikasa rapidly noticed it.
They had had long conversations during the days Eren wasn’t at their place, talking primarily about the brunet and the way they were feeling about this situation. Mikasa had confessed how anxious she was, worried that one of them would end up hurt in the long run. She had always been very protective of her loved ones, and Levi was only grateful to be one of them in this life.
No matter how worried she was, Mikasa didn’t try to pry into Eren and Levi’s building relationship, and the raven was grateful for that. She would even go to great length to leave them alone sometimes, pretending she had a phone call to make, or going to the bathroom only to return twenty minutes later as if it was normal. She wasn’t being very subtle, but Eren never seemed to find it weird nor mind, and neither did Levi. Those moments when they were alone were the best he would pass in Eren’s company, and every time Levi would make sure to make it up to Mikasa in some ways.
Nothing extraordinary would happen at those times; they would simply talk. When it was just the two of them, Levi would feel like he wasn’t just Eren’s best friend’s brother, but also someone of importance to the brunet. It was impossible for Levi to tell if they were really friends, if Eren enjoyed their moment together like he did, but at least his smile would be directed at him and only him; that alone was enough to satiate him and leave his chest fluttering with warm feelings. The brunet had him wrapped around his little finger without even knowing it, but Levi was content with their situation for now.
***
One Saturday found Levi in a rather sullen mood. Mikasa was away for the whole weekend for some training camp, leaving him alone for two days and ruining what he considered to be the best day of his week. Eren would always come for the entire day on Saturdays, which was enough to categorize it as Levi’s favorite day, but with his sister gone there was no reason for him to see the bright-eyed brunet.
Levi heaved a long sigh as he flipped through the TV channels, hoping to find something remotely interesting to watch and distract him for some part of the day. The moment he decided on a movie he had probably watched several times already, the annoying ringing of his doorbell resonated in the apartment, catching his attention. Who could it be, he wondered, as he reluctantly went to open the door. He hoped it wasn’t one of those salesmen who went door-to-door to promote some useless products or life insurance; he wasn’t in the mood to deal with one of them.
His pissed-off expression immediately softened as he opened the door and took in the person standing in front of him.
“Eren?” Levi asked, failing at hiding the surprise from his voice. “What are you doing here? Mikasa is out of town.”
“Yeah, I know,” Eren said in a soft voice, a nervous smile on his lips. Levi furrowed his brows as he noticed how tense the younger man seemed to be. “Can I come in?”
Levi nodded and moved aside to let Eren in, still confused as to why the brunet had come to his apartment. It was the first time it would be just the two of them, without Mikasa joining them after leaving them alone for a short while. Levi would lie if he said he wasn’t nervous at the idea, but he could also feel his sour mood disappear as the seconds in Eren’s presence ticked by. Why had the brunet such a strong effect on his mood? It was a complete mystery to him.
Eren went towards the living room after removing his shoes, not even checking to see if Levi was following him, as if it was a normal Saturday. However, as Levi went after him, he found the brunet pacing in front of the couch, toying with his hands and nibbling his bottom lip.
“Sit down, kid, I’m getting a headache watching you pace like that.”
Eren jumped at his words, disturbed from his inner turmoil, first frowning in annoyance, then sighing before doing what he was told. Levi raised an eyebrow, confused at his antics, fearing the worst. Why was the brunet acting so weirdly, and why was he here in the first place? A lot of questions whirled around in Levi’s brain, but he kept them to himself before joining Eren on the couch. Now that he couldn’t walk anymore, Eren’s legs were bouncing which quickly annoyed the hell out of the older man.
“What the fuck is wrong with you? You look like you’re about to shit your pants,” Levi groaned, putting one hand on Eren’s knee to stop his nervous gesture, startling him in the process. “And now you look constipated. Whatever is on your mind, you better tell me right the fuck now before I–”
“I like you,” Eren blurted suddenly, cutting Levi short.
They both looked at each other for a few seconds, both in shock, Levi trying to process what he had just heard and Eren probably realizing what he had just said. Before Levi had the time to say anything -not that he knew what to say because his brain had completely frozen- Eren let out a groan, his cheeks aflame, before hiding his face in his hands as he stood up.
“Shit, I didn’t mean to say that,” Eren hissed, mortified. He moved some of his fingers to take a peek at Levi through his hands before removing them completely and turning to face Levi. “Fuck that, that’s exactly what I meant.”
Levi blinked a few times while looking at Eren, his mind completely blank. The brunet had his brows furrowed and his eyes were shining with a determination that brought Levi back to the first time he had met Eren, but not in this life. He looked so much like the boy he used to know in that moment, but the more he stared at him, the more he could also detect a twinge of fear mixed with his confident facade. His cheeks and ears were a beautiful shade of red, sign of his embarrassment, which was more specific to the Eren Levi got to know in the past few months.
“Wait,” Levi said, getting out of his daze, “really?”
Levi could feel his own skin getting warmer as the words Eren had said sunk in, the fluttering sensation he had been feeling the last few weeks intensifying tenfold. Eren liked him? He wasn’t imagining all of this? Levi wasn’t doubting Eren’s words, but he was having a hard time believing this was really happening and that the man truly had feelings for him. It felt like this was coming out of nowhere; if there had been signs Levi definitively didn’t see them, so he had to make sure.
“Seriously, Levi?” Eren whined. “I thought I was being super obvious, that’s why I got worried and decided to tell you. And Mikasa told me you could be a little dense, but…” He stopped himself, his eyebrows now knitted in worry, peering at Levi through his eyelashes. “Are you really that oblivious? Or maybe just… not interested…?”
Eren seemed to deflate as he considered it, looking down at his feet with misery painted all over his face. A surge of affection for the man in front of him overcame Levi, and he had to fight the need to cage him between his arms and stroke his hair to reassure him. All confidence the brunet might have had or faked was completely gone now, worry and fear the only feelings left on his tanned face.
At that moment, Levi finally realized what he should have known all along, the thought hitting him like a wave of salt water. Why had he been so hung up on the past when he had found the person he cared the most about in this new life? Why hold on to the old memories of a person that was long gone when he had a living and breathing new version of them sitting right in front of him?
It didn’t matter if Eren would never remember the past, never remember the people they used to be nor everything they had been through together, what mattered was the fact that they were both alive. Who cared about the past when they could have a future together? Who cared about the relationship they used to have when they could build a new one, this time not threatened by death or useless concept like military ranks?
Levi had to let go of the past and concentrate more on the present, on the Eren he could see with his own two eyes and not the one from some distant memories.
“Damn it, Eren,” Levi said in a whisper.
Eren’s gaze was still directed at the ground, his shoulders slouched in defeat, so the raven wasn’t even sure he had heard him. If he had, he could have heard the fond tone Levi had used, or seen the genuine smile gracing his lips as he had said those words. To be sure Eren would hear him this time, Levi stood up and put a hand on the brunet’s cheek, raising his head enough so that they could gaze into each other’s eyes.
“I am shit at this so listen carefully, I won’t say it twice,” Levi warned him.
He watched the different emotions passing on Eren’s face: concern, surprise, then anticipation, hope. Levi’s entire body relaxed as he stared into the infinite pools that were the brunet’s eyes, losing himself in their beautiful shades of green which always made him think of endless fields of grass with an open sky. Levi’s lips twitched upwards, forming a fond smile, the words he had been waiting to say for a lifetime leaving his lips in a whisper.
“I like you.”
Eren’s eyes widened, and Levi’s smile did as well when he saw the brunet’s cheeks becoming even redder than a few minutes ago. Before Levi had the time to analyze the new gleam appearing in Eren’s eyes after his confession, a pair of lips crashed on his and two strong arms surrounded his shoulders, bringing him flush against the man’s body.
Caught off guard, it took Levi a few seconds before kissing Eren back. He could feel the passion emanating from Eren every time their lips met, the desperation, but also the eagerness, all of them making Levi feel dizzy and drunk on the feelings being directed at him. All those nights spent wondering how it would feel like to hold Eren, touch him and kiss him weren’t enough to prepare Levi to the real thing finally happening. He could feel his heart soar and he clung to Eren’s body like a lifeline, needing to feel him closer and closer to his own to get more of that intoxicating feeling.
When they finally parted, both their lips swollen from their intense make out session, Eren was smiling softly at him, his eyes filled with happiness and tenderness. Levi couldn’t help but stare, his breath caught in his throat and his mind in a haze. Eren leaned forward to rest his forehead on Levi’s, gently stroking his cheek as they kept gazing into each other’s eyes.
Something shifted inside of Levi in this moment. It was as if the missing piece of the puzzle he had been looking for had finally found its righteous place in his heart, like the hole in his heart had suddenly disappeared, now filled with endless affection.
For the first time in his life, Levi felt complete.

Camping
This is a super late drabble poem thing for @ereri-writing-prompts June Prompt Incalescent! I have no excuses for why it’s so late, I’m just lazy. I wanna really quickly thank @omglevixeren for looking this over and making sure I’m not insane-though I’m sure I’m still totally insane.
Camping
Long drive. Unbearable songs. Awful singing. They took a wrong turn four times, Eren wasn't the best a reading maps, and anytime Levi brought up using their phones Eren would remind him this trip was to unplug and be one with nature.
Midsummer day. Uncomfortable heat. Muttered insults. And this damn tent they didn't know what to do with or how to put together balled up into rod and tarp covered disaster, they really needed to figure that out before sundown.
Burnt marshmallows. Sweet kisses. Crisp night. It’s colder now as the sun sets, Eren’s head nuzzling into Levi's shoulder, the warmth of the fire relaxing them a bit too much, lending them a false sense of security.
Scattered Freckles. Golden Glow. Sneaky drinks. The alcohol may have been a poor decision, but coming to a campsite with zero camping experience could also be classified as a "poor decision."
Soft steps. Metal snapping. Quiet swearing. The fire's warmth had bitten them both in the ass, the tent remained tangled and outrageously challenging to piece together-especially now in the dark.
Hushed laughter. Zippers sounding. Victory hugs. The tent may have tried to take their dignity, but Eren had sacrificed that the moment he purchased the too-small bear sleeping bags.
Faint rustling. Paranoid blabber. Tent Spiders. The neighbouring campers were chanting and humming, Eren insisted they were a cult, and as the evening wore on and the chanting grew louder, Levi started to believe him.
Loud swearing. Hurried packing. Car starting. Eren was barely strapped in when Levi pulled the car in reverse and hightailed it out of the campground at 2AM, the tent once again crumpled and shoved into the trunk of their car.
Eren couldn't stop laughing by the time they were 30 minutes down the old dirt road, the campgrounds far enough away to feel a wash of relief and minor hysteria.
Levi breathed out a small laugh of his own, glancing Eren's way, reminded of the warmth of the fireside. Being by Eren's side was a lot like that gentle glow and comfortable heat.
Levi could live like this for the rest of his life, running away from secret forest cults and tent spiders.
He could do anything, as long as he was by Eren's side.
For the rest of their lives.

Thank you a million times @attraversiamo19 for beta and encouragement. You’re the bestest Read on Ao3 or under the cut:
The war ends, somehow.
Levi feels more lost in this new time of brittle peace than he ever did out on the battlefield. Even in the Underground, where the titans had been nothing more than a foreign concept, he’d had a purpose.
Handing in his swords and gear for the last time feels like parting with his own limbs. For so long that collection of leather and metal was what kept him alive, but there’s nothing for him in the military anymore. The officer handling his discharge gives him a salute and his papers, and that’s that.
Fighting is all he’s ever known.
But now, he doesn’t need to anymore.
He doesn’t have to fight to survive, or to feed himself, or to protect someone he loves. It should be a relief.
And yet he struggles.
Eren says he suffers from post-traumatic stress. He learned about it during his time in that Marleyan hospital. They all suffer from it, Eren says, and therefore Levi shouldn’t be too hard on himself for having a hard time finding his place again.
He takes up baking because he has to pass the time somehow, and he can only read for so long before his eyes start bleeding. He plays with the idea of finding a proper job, perhaps opening a small business, but just thinking of all the planning that would require gives him a headache. Following a recipe is straightforward, and doesn’t take any planning aside from making sure he has all the ingredients before he starts.
Baking serves another purpose as well. Eren is still too skinny, his thoughts still too scattered and distracting him from things such as his bodily needs, but he’ll eat whatever Levi puts in front of him. Levi won’t admit how happy it makes him to see Eren enjoying his food, but Eren most likely already knows.
He draws the line though, when Eren tries to dip cookies in his tea.
“But it makes it tastier!”
“Tch, and then you end up with that gross, soggy residue at the bottom and have to throw away half the tea. That shit’s expensive, you know.” He snatches the plate of cookies away when Eren reaches for another one, no doubt to dip it again right in front of him. It’s difficult to keep the smile off his face, but he somehow manages to remain stern as he levels Eren with a look. “Don’t be a child.”
Eren pouts, just to contradict him, but also because he knows it will make Levi forgive him for whatever idiocy he’s committed.
Levi kisses the pout away and later throws the soggy tea on the compost instead. His vegetables will appreciate the luxury of it, at least.
Their evenings fill with conversation.
It often leads to reminiscences of the people they’ve lost. It’s painful, but they both feel it’s important to keep the memories of their fallen comrades alive. They do not dwell on what if’s or should have’s. Levi learns to let out his tears, after a lifetime of holding them back.
Eren starts an apprenticeship down at the local blacksmith’s. It’s hard work, but he likes the feel of it, he says - creating something with his hands instead of just destroying.
Levi starts receiving little trinkets; remodelled horseshoes shaped into bookends, uneven nails not fit for selling reshaped into hooks for their outdoor clothes. After a few months, their home is filled with little bits of Eren’s work. Beautiful wrought handles appear on the cabinets in their kitchen, and Levi never has to worry about dull knives again.
He’s happy Eren has found something to do with his time. For so long after they came back, Eren wouldn’t go outside from fear of what people would think of him. But Eren was never good at standing still for too long, and staying at home all day wore at his mind worse than any negative reactions could.
It’s strange, these new routines. There are no new mission briefings, no excursions or long hours on horseback. No one is trying to eat them, or capture them, or kill them. They’re allowed to just… live.
There are good days, and bad days.
On the good ones, Eren comes home with a tired but content smile, sweat and grime covering his body, and Levi pretends to be mad about the dirt the younger man has tracked inside. Eren always nods and pretends to be remorseful, and these evenings are filled with the sort of things Levi only ever read about in fairy tales before.
Bad days start when Eren wakes up and doesn’t remember where he is.
On the really bad ones, he doesn’t remember who he is.
He doesn’t talk about it much. He’s ashamed, and Levi doesn’t want to push before he’s ready. They spent enough years ignoring the bond between them, and Levi has learned that Eren needs to process things at his own pace before he’s ready to voice them.
In the meantime, Levi is content to wait. With time, he knows they will heal.
Even so, when Eren wakes them both up with yet another nightmare, Levi hurts more for his lover than he wants to admit. He has nightmares as well, but at least the memories are only his own.
”It’s alright,” he whispers, hand hovering inches from Eren’s arm. He doesn’t touch just yet. ”Eren, you’re all right.”
There is no moon tonight, but the stars leave him enough light to make out Eren’s features, the gleam of tears on his cheeks. He waits for Eren to find his focus. Eren’s gaze flicks around the room as if to confirm where he is, and when it lands on Levi, for a second Levi’s heart clenches with fear that Eren won’t recognise him.
Then Eren exhales, scooting closer until he can bury his face in the space between Levi’s chest and arm. Levi doesn’t imagine his armpit smells particularly nice, but he hears no complaints. Eren, the giant oddball, once said he found Levi’s scent soothing, so Levi lets him be.
He brings up his free arm and cards his fingers through damp hair as he waits for Eren’s breathing to return to normal. After a while, Eren reemerges, lifting his head enough to peer at Levi through his long bangs.
”Sorry,” he says. Levi has long since given up trying to get him to stop apologising for his dreams. He knows Eren still feels like the responsibility of the world is on his shoulders, and it will take more than just a handful of years for that to change.
He rubs a thumb across Eren’s cheekbone instead, until the tracks of salt disappear. ”At least you don’t snore.”
Eren snorts and shuffles them around until he can rest his head on Levi’s chest properly. Light fingers skirt over the skin on Levi’s hip, drawing patterns that leave goosebumps in their wake. ”You’d have kicked me out by now if I did.”
Levi scratches at Eren’s scalp. ”I already let you get away with enough.” He feels Eren’s smile against his skin.
“Because you love me.”
Levi grunts, neither an affirmation nor a denial, and it earns him a sharp prod to his ribs. He catches the offending limb in his hand and presses a soft kiss against Eren’s pulse point, where the skin is warm and soft.
With a sigh, Eren raises himself up on his elbows to stare down at Levi with a slight furrow between his brows, his eyes searching.
He’s still hurting from his dreams, Levi can tell. Not for the first time, he wishes he wasn’t so fucked up, that he could find the right words to say to make Eren feel better again. Instead, he leans up and catches Eren’s lips with his, trying to pour everything he feels into it - his concern, his worry. His love.
Eren responds, something between a sob and a whine escaping through his chest as he pushes Levi down by the shoulders and straddles his hips. “Please,” he whispers, hands urgent, breath too fast yet again.
Levi has never been good at giving people what they want. Usually, because he doesn’t want to. He has come to learn what Eren needs though, especially during times like these, and he is more than happy to provide it. It’s a relief, knowing what to do. And it’s always been easier to speak through his actions than through words.
Because it’s still so hard to utter those three little words out loud. They could never encompass the extent of what he feels for Eren in any case. Their meaning is always there in his head, in his chest –swirling around with others, too intense, too much– but when he tries to speak them, they get stuck on his tongue until he chokes. He hopes Eren knows anyway.
That he knows how Levi had given up hope of something like a home a long time ago. That he’d never thought he would have this, a place of his own in the world. And that despite everything –the horror, the grief, the betrayals– his place is right here with Eren, so close he doesn’t know where one ends and the other begins, close enough to breathe each other’s air, to taste each other’s breaths, every gasp and groan of pleasure.
Afterwards, they lay curled up on their sides, hands still wandering, but now with a content ease, fingertips gentle and undemanding. Sweat coats Eren’s skin again, but now it lacks the tang of anxiety.
”I love you,” Levi whispers. It’s easier like this; with his eyes closed, face hidden beneath Eren’s chin. Eren cranes his neck enough to press a kiss to the top of Levi’s head, hugs him a little closer.
“I know.”
Levi thinks he could fall asleep again like this, but there’s a slight tension building in Eren that means he is thinking too much. Levi dozes, content to wait until Eren is ready to share whatever is on his mind.
”There’s something –”
With a huff of air, Eren disentangles himself from their embrace and slides off the bed. Levi props himself up on an elbow as Eren grabs for his pants discarded on the floor and starts rummaging around in their pockets. He returns after a few moments, but instead of climbing back in, he sinks to one knee right there on the floor, a small leather pouch held out in his hand like an offering. Levi’s heart stutters in his chest.
”What are you –” He drags himself into a sitting position, surprised he can still control his limbs, despite the tingling spreading through them.
”Marry me.”
The rosy tint to Eren’s cheeks cannot be solely blamed on the light from the rising sun trickling in through the window, and Levi knows it matches the colour of his own. Even so, the determination is clear on Eren’s face as he shakes out the bag, and two pieces of metal fall out into his palm with a soft clink.
”I wanted to do this all proper, with a nice dinner and candles and all that, but I could never work up the courage.” He pauses to clear his throat, and when he raises his head to meet Levi’s eyes, there’s something so fragile about him that Levi barely stops himself from reaching out. ”But you know, who knows how this year will end, so perhaps it’s better to – catch the day, and all that.”
”It’s ‘seize the day’, idiot.” His voice sounds strangled even to his own ears, and the epithet is reflex more than anything.
He knows why Eren is asking this now.
This is the year they’ll know. If they won the war for real, if the cure works. They’ll know if Eren survives, or if he –
They don’t have a set date as reference. Eren doesn’t remember exactly when his father injected him with the serum, and the lifespan might not be as accurate as 13 years to the day. But they know that if he makes it through winter, they will have made it for real.
It doesn’t matter that Eren can’t shift anymore or that his skin now holds scars. It’s not enough to reassure them. Levi still fears waking up one morning to find Eren has left him, gone in his sleep, just like that. He wonders if that fear will remain even after this year.
”Well, nevertheless. Will you –” Eren stops to take a deep breath, curls his fingers over the rings before opening them again. ”Will you marry me?” He holds one of the rings up, the smaller one, its polished steel reflecting the hope in Eren’s eyes.
It’s Levi’s turn to clear his throat, trying to reel in the emotions building inside his chest. ”Do you really have to ask?” The words still come out as barely more than a whisper.
Eren huffs, lips twitching into a brittle smile. ”It’s tradition, isn’t it?”
Levi exhales and then inhales again slowly, staring at the offered ring as if it were a venomous snake. ”We’re hardly a traditional couple.”
Some of the hesitance melts from Eren’s features, and he gives a proper smile, wide and bright like it always is when Levi admits out loud that they’re together.
”That’s true, but I’m scared that if we break even more traditions, people will start sharpening their pitchforks.”
Levi rolls his eyes. ”You’re the one who sharpens most of them. Besides, everyone loves you.”
Eren chuckles with a shake of his head. ”I don’t care about them,” he murmurs, scooting closer to the bed. His hair is a tangled mess, and Levi already misses the feeling of running his fingers through it.
He wonders if Eren knows what it does to him, seeing his lover like this. Kneeling on the floor as naked as the day he was born, heart on his sleeve and Levi’s seed still drying between his legs, something desperate in those brilliant eyes of his.
Levi averts his gaze, his heart too large for his chest, the pulse of it beating painful in the most wonderful way. ”You don’t want to get stuck with me for the rest of your life.”
Eren hums, resting his chin on the bed. Looking up through his lashes, his right hand –with the ring pinched between the fingers– creeps a little closer to Levi’s knee. ”I’ve gathered from reliable resources that I am, and I quote, ‘an annoying little shit’. So if anything, we’d be stuck with each other.”
It had always been hard to stay away from Eren’s pull, and this time is no different. Levi grabs Eren’s wrist and Eren follows obediently as Levi drags him up onto the bed. Eren settles in Levi’s lap, too big with his long legs and long arms and big eyes that shine with such intensity Levi fears he will be burned.
And yet he belongs. Their fingers interlace with an ease that still takes Levi with surprise, how easy they fit, despite their differences. Despite everything they’ve gone through together.
Or perhaps that’s why they do fit so well together.
”Hm. Is that so?” He lets his free hand wander up to cup Eren’s jaw. The skin under Levi’s fingertips is rough with stubble, Eren’s lips red and inviting. Levi watches as those lips quirks into a smile.
”Yeah. So what do you say? Wanna grow old together?” A considering pause. ”Well, even older, in your case.” Eren grins even though Levi pinches his bottom lip.
”Shithead,” Levi says, but it’s much too fond. He tries not to think about the implications of Eren’s proposal. He doesn’t want to think about growing old, not when Eren might not be there–
He lets the hand drop from Eren’s face and holds it out, as if in defeat, even though they both know it’s not. Eren grins again, and the ring slides into place with ease.
”Give me the other one,” Levi orders. Eren obeys, and it’s strangely satisfying, holding Eren’s hand in his as Levi slips the metal onto his ring finger. It’s a ritual as old as their society, yet he never imagined he one day would be part of it. ”I’m getting you another one, just so you know. You can’t give yourself a ring.” He rubs his thumb over the polished surface, a small smirk finding its way onto his lips. “It’s not traditional.”
He has his suspicions of where these rings come from, because the necklace Eren has worn for as long as Levi has known him has been missing for weeks. He’s not going to ask, though. Eren will tell him when he’s ready.
Eren smiles, nuzzling against Levi’s temple. ”I don’t want to waste any more time.” The words are so quiet Levi might have missed them had he not been so close. ”And it doesn’t sound too bad, this whole marrying thing, does it? ‘Til –” He exhales, draws a deep breath. “‘Til death do us part, right?”
Levi closes his eyes, his throat suddenly too tight for him to even consider finding the right words. He nods instead, arms clutching around Eren a little tighter and wishing with everything he is that they could have this forever, even though he knows it’s impossible. Life doesn’t work that way.
He interlaces their hands again, brings them up so he can watch the rings glint in the early morning light.
They’ll have each other, and that’s more than enough.

Crimson
Coloured crimson in his eyes, ribbons shredded under his blades. Out, a body, alive and not. His boy. His.
And oh, Levi is high off of the rush of saving Eren, of being his savior. What a glorious thing; to be needed on such an intimate level. Carnage-smeared and horrific like a nightmare, every time Eren is pulled from a steaming corpse and into Levi’s arms. The weight of him. The heat of his body. For Levi and Levi alone. That first sight, of Eren unconscious and slack and disheveled, is always his.
Skin rosy. Smelling charred, wisps of smoke whipping at him. Face sore with ripped tendons on his cheeks. So soft, so pudgy. Levi struggles not to press his lips just to that spot. Bite. Feel that tender flesh give out under his teeth.
He is always Eren’s first sight upon waking, and when he opens those eyes, bleary and hazy and tired, Eren clings to Levi like he is the only thing keeping him alive. Loose arms a vice around his neck, hitches of hiccuping breaths vibrations against Levi’s chest through their clothes. Through the sweat sticking to Eren’s skin, musky and raw, as he shudders, Levi holds him. And gods, and gods, and gods, Levi could do this forever. It is lecherous. It is wretched. To love Eren needing and depending on him so much. But he does, by Sina, he does.

for the ask meme, “do you hate me, eren?” with ler!levi pls?
“Do you hate me, Eren?” Levi inquired conversationally, as though he were not pressing the other back into a corner, as though he did not have both of his wrists secured in his hands.
“No, I just—” Eren broke off as his back hit the wall, both of his wrists pinned on either side of his forehead. Levi’s face loomed before him, and though he stood many inches below the other, Eren couldn’t help but feel a shudder of intimidation run its course down his back.
Levi leaned in so that his mouth was mere inches away from his neck. Goosebumps prickled Eren’s skin with anticipation. “No? Then why is it that you’ve been avoiding me all day?”
Eren didn’t have an answer, not a good one, not one that didn’t start with those hands and that mouth that had quite recently learned the proper ways to turn the boy into a shrieking mess. Before he could even attempt an answer, Levi’s lips were at his neck, pressing the softest, most unfair, line of kisses down the column of his neck, quickly pulling tirades of frantic giggles from the other as he brought his shoulders up in protest.
“That’s alright,” Levi whispered, the vibrations of his voice against such a sensitive spot making Eren squeak. “Take your time to answer. In the meantime I’ll be here, patiently waiting—” slowly he raised his trapped hands so they raised above his head, leaving Eren captive and helpless—“For your reply.”

Apple, Cat, Birthday
A small exception to my posting break over the holidays. I’ve had this drabble in my drafts for months now, and the occasion is simply too perfect. <3
Happy Christmas everyone!
(Read on AO3)
It’s Levi’s birthday. Eren stares at the oven, daring it to screw up.
- - -
From downstairs comes the muffled hum of the café’s afternoon hours. The flat lies in cooking apple scent sweet with spices. At Eren’s side, Panda watches the oven with him, tail flicking on the floor like a pendulum. Cat nose twitching as though she approves.
Eren opens the oven, blinks against the hot baking steam billowing his hair, and carefully removes the tray from the flames. Juicy fruits bubble under a blanket of shortcrust, golden and crisp. Eren smiles.
It’s perfect.
Levi will be spoiled tonight.

To the boy who sought freedom.
To Eren, freedom was many things. And throughout his life, he found it in many places.
Then he lost it in the mocking hands of the cruel world he’d been born into.
To Eren, freedom was once his mother’s laughter as she smiled and spun him around in her arms and the light gleaming off of his father’s glasses as he turned his head just so to stare at them with pure love.
Then he watched her scream for her life, kicking with her broke legs, and next he was sitting in there empty forest, holding his father’s cracked glasses, the steam rising around him, blistering heat on his skin, and the chilling heat in his chest.
(Mikasa always said the world was cruel. Eren always wished for her to be wrong. She was never wrong.)
To Eren, freedom was once the ringing in his ears and the heavy beating against his chest as he ran through the brick stone streets of Shiganshina (where other children laughed and jumped as the boring adults roamed about in their dull lives), past the open gates and drunk soldiers who laughed at him (what useless pests they were), and up to that tree atop the hill with Armin and Mikasa right behind him.
Then he turned around and saw those hideous, indestructible walls of stone that refused to fall down. And then he remembered, he was never free as long they stood.
(Armin always smiled so brightly when he reached the top. Eren always noticed. He never understood why he looked so happy, did he not see those walls that mocked them?)
To Eren, freedom was once in the black and white wings of his captain, strong and glorious as he stood before him, protecting him even against all the odds.
Then he came to learn that Humanity’s Strongest was just a moniker, and no matter how true of a name it was, Captain Levi was only human.
(It was obvious in his little quirks, such as his creative, yet dry shit jokes, his awkward empathy and comfort, the honest compassion and loyalty he held for his comrades, and the strange way he held his tea cup, as if it was made of delicate glass and he was a man who treasured such fragility. Levi Ackerman was very much human in the most obvious ways, ways Eren wished he’d been able to appreciate more.)
To Eren, freedom was once in the eradication of all titans and the future of humanity, in a world where monsters could no longer haunt them and walls could never cage them in again.
Then he went and found out that the actual monsters were just humans, and the walls were never cages.
(How disappointed he was. How angry, how hurt, how sad. How he wished it would all down. How he wished it didn’t have to be him to do so.)
To Eren, freedom was once in the open sky of blue and white, with clouds underneath his feet and wind in his hair, his arms spread out and the entire universe in his reach.
Then he remembered the girl trapped in servitude for two thousand years. Then he remembered the world was burning. Then he remembered the people crushed beneath his feet.
Then he remembered a lost smile and broke glasses.
Then he remembered a tattered scarf holding memories and a forgotten book of promises.
Then he remembered the clipped wings of dying hope.
The he remembered who he was, and what world he had been born into.
Then he remembered that freedom was not for devils such as him.
(As he closed his eyes for the last time, he thought to himself, for a boy who was never meant for freedom, he sure did find it in all the most unexpected places. It was a nice little thought to fall asleep to. He was glad he wouldn’t have to wake up again.)

The strange qualities of domestication
There is a weird sense of discomfort that comes with having someone invade your privacy, your safe space. Even if nothing is moved, the air is different, the connotations of objects are tweaked every so lightly. Levi could feel his skin itch when something was misplaced. The criminal wasn’t a mystery to him, he had even been the one to welcome the disruptive presence however he had a hard time getting used to the multiplication of objects throughout the house.
The pair of toothbrushes leaning in opposite directions, the twin towels with different names written in cursive, the sudden use of the second pillow on the bed. It had been deflated with frequent uses. Levi didn’t live with anyone, neither had he planned to but his apartment had become synonym to a domesticated household. All that was missing was a goddamn grey cat named captain, he grumbled but the affection in his voice was hard to miss.
He went to his clothes cabinet and found that half the clothes weren’t his, a used hoodie was spread across the floor and 4 shirts he knew would be too large were hung on the left of his suits. As though this were just habit by this point, he picked up the hoodie and hung it on the hooks near the door and chose the outfit for the day.
Breakfast was already made, and the living room table was set. He’d have to bring up the issue of eating in the living toom instead of the dining room but that could wait till after the food was eaten. The steaming plate of scrambled eggs and beans could be smelled from across the apartment. It mixed in with the faint smell of cologne.
When you live alone you get used to certain scents, a certain smell that becomes the neutral to your home. It makes all other smells impossible not to notice, as though you have entered someone else’s house and not your own. Levi had always done his best to avoid people that could taint the dark tea and mint aroma he had successfully filled his house with but somehow, he had come to terms with the new intrusion of spices and coffee. They weren’t so much unfamiliar to him as much as intoxicating and sometimes suffocating. He couldn’t tell whether it was a good thing.
The state of cleanliness in the house had declined over the past couple months. Levi made sure to clean regularly but his storm of a partner made it a mission to curb his old tendencies by aggravating them. The irony was not lost on Levi. He sat down on the couch and picked up his fork waiting for his lover to appear.
He had been in a relationship for the past couple months and the small changes to his apartment made it feel more like home, made him feel happier than he could admit he had in a while. The front door clicked and creaked open. His lover walked in and put down his bag of groceries from the konbini within their complex on the floor.
‘I have my suitcase downstairs since I forgot to bring spare clothes last night, I’ll put them in the spare drawer’ Were the first words the boy said.
‘Why don’t you just move in, it’s not like your stuff isn’t all here anyways’ Levi joked, rolling his eyes.
‘I thought you said you’d rather die in your sleep than deal with my mess everyday’ Eren responded with a smirk.
‘Well maybe it won’t be so bad if you’re here with me. I’d love to make you regret making a mess every day for the rest of your life’. Levi took Eren, who was now standing at reaching distance, by the hand and pulled him towards his lap.
‘Is that a threat or a promise?’ Eren raised his brow. He lay down across Levi’s lap and smiled, content.
‘Both’ Levi kissed his forehead.
‘You sure you’d be fine with me invading your home?’ Eren chuckled.
‘You are home to me Eren’ Levi said, finally leaning down to kiss him gently on the lips.

Prompt: Astrology
this wasn't even an actual prompt but shh okay
-
It was a crisp Autumn day when Eren and Levi took a trip to the local planetarium. The sun was tucked away behind a sheet of clouds, a light breeze ruffling through the fallen leaves and persistently unraveling the neatly folded scarf around Levi's neck.
The weather didn't matter, for the observatory's ceiling created an artificial night sky for them to behold. They watched in darkness as stars and nebulas floated past, the little flecks of light bright in their eyes and stirring up their imaginations.
This was Eren's idea of a perfect date. Silence, a stunning view, just the two of them wrapped up in their seats and holding hands beneath the quilt blanket he'd dragged along with them. Just the two of them, lost in their own little world and alone under the twinkling sky. Just the two of them, for as long as the show would last.

DOTE | [Riren/Ereri] | Drabble | Mentions of: Death]
Levi taking care if Eren, whispering promises of freedom, and a brighter tomorrow. Reminding Eren how much he loves him through words and doting actions. Giving him what he knows Eren deserves. Truly, Levi loves Eren with all his heart.
However, when one witness death after of family, friends, and comrades, the lingering stench of death seeps into the crevices of their life–their being. Levi is not an exception.
The rotting smell of flesh filled his quarter as he watched the brunet sleep on his bed. Levi hoped Eren didn't mind and would not be woken up by the rancid smell. He wanted the boy to rest and dote on Eren until he could.
If only Eren could still hear his promises and stories, feel his lingering caresses, process what was happening to his surroundings. Sadly, one can not do those when they're long dead and gone.

2: “You don’t… remember?”
4: “Why is he calling you by a different name?”
66: “Did you think I would run into your arms?”
WARNING: Manga spoilers ahead, be careful if you’re not up to date with the manga! Also, I need to warn you for dark content because of the mental instability of one of the character!
************
“Eren…?”
Levi stops in his tracks the moment he sees a tall brunet walk not very far from him. He looks a little older than in his memories, probably around his mid-twenties, but he would recognize the man anywhere. His features are the same as he remembers: strong jawline, straight nose, broad shoulders and narrow hips; his long chocolate brown hair tied in a low ponytail. The brunet has haunted his dreams for years now, bringing back to the surface feelings of despair, regret, affection, and more importantly, hope.
Back then, Eren was his precious and only hope, giving him the strength to move forward when everything seemed to have turned into chaos. Their initial goal of killing all the titans changed dramatically the moment they discovered Eren’s father’s books in his basement, revealing the existence of humans outside of the walls, an entire civilization that wanted nothing more than to annihilate every last one of them. In this mess, however, there had always been one constant, and it was Eren.
Levi never thought he would be able to see the man in this life. He understood from a very young age what his dreams were about, what they meant, but it is only when he came across two of his past friends that he realized there is a possibility to see the young man once again. As he talked with Hanji and Erwin, realizing they both remember the same cruel world, he understood he had a chance.
He can maybe one day run into Eren and find his hope again.
The raven’s body starts moving forward before he can process what is happening. He rushes after the silhouette he just saw, calling his name in the hope of drawing Eren’s attention and make it easier to catch up with him. The brunet, however, doesn’t stop and keeps on walking, not even looking back as Levi desperately runs after him in the crowd.
“Eren!” Levi yells for at least the tenth time as he is finally able to put one hand on the man’s shoulder to stop him.
The raven is caught off guard as Eren smacks his hand away, looking at him with a murderous glint in his eyes, his eyebrows furrowed in anger and his lips tightly pressed together. It takes a moment for Levi to recover from the shock, holding his hand in front of his chest, feeling his skin sting from the blow.
“Ere–”
“Who the fuck are you?” Eren harshly cuts him off, his voice a low growl.
Levi feels his body freeze as he realizes what Eren’s words imply. He tries to regulate his breathing, a little breathless after his running, feeling his legs shiver after the effort he put them through. He isn’t as in shape as he used to be and his muscles scream in pain as a reminder of that.
“You- You don’t… remember?” Levi manages to ask, his face a perfect reflection of both his confusion and distress.
Eren squints his eyes, rendering them into two small slits as he looks over the man in front of him. Levi shivers under his scrutiny, not used to being the object of such hatred, especially coming from the tall man. He can still remember the fire he saw into those green eyes the first time he saw Eren in a dungeon, it had intrigued him, but what he can see in Eren’s eyes now is… different. It’s not even a fire, nothing like the determination he had witnessed. It’s only pure hatred and contempt.
Levi gulps, feeling even smaller than he already is, when a high-pitched voice draws his attention away from the intense glare directed at him.
“Hey, Drew, who’s that?”
Levi’s eyes widen as he realizes they weren’t alone from the beginning, and he wonders how he didn’t see the woman standing next to Eren when she is practically glued to his side. Her face is covered in makeup – too much from Levi’s perspective, her eyelashes at least double the length of natural ones and her lips a glossy velvet red. She is wearing a mini-skirt revealing thin legs and a blouse that hardly covers her chest, which is tightly pressed against Eren’s arms. She gives Levi the stink-eye before batting her eyelashes at the brunet.
“Why did he call you by a different name?” She practically purrs as an attempt to catch his attention.
Eren hardly spares her a glance, his eyes still drilling holes in the raven’s head, the latter trying his best not to look away in front of such a blatant display of superiority. After a few minutes and more coaxing from the girl, who is obviously growing annoyed at the exchange, Eren turns his back to Levi, putting his hands in his pockets as he slowly walks away with the woman.
“He confused me with someone else. I don’t know him.”
Levi can only watch as Eren is moving further and further from him, his mind still trying to process what happened. He instantly freezes on the spot when Eren gives him one last glance, his eyes cold and menacing, shattering all hope Levi might had before this instant in a matter of seconds.
Ever since he found Hanji and Erwin, Levi was hopeful of one day seeing Eren again. He didn’t actively look for him, but he has always wondered if he will be able to find the brunet too and have him back in his life. And if that day shall happen, he imagined Eren to be the same as in his memories. Hanji and Erwin are the same, so why not him as well? Of course, there are still differences since their lives and upbringings are different, the same goes for Levi as well, but overall, they remain very similar to how he remembers them. Their essences are the same, Levi’s essence is the same, but Eren’s…
This isn’t Eren. Or more precisely, it isn’t his Eren. It isn’t the man he remembers, full of determination and filled with compassion for the people around him. It is a completely different man, cold and indifferent, with nothing but disdain in his eyes. Somehow, for reasons he can’t comprehend, Eren’s essence is different.
The man he just met had been someone else wearing Eren’s face.
Levi tries not to think about his encounter with Eren, but it ends up being nearly impossible. It keeps bothering him and he can’t erase Eren’s cold eyes and angry expression from his mind. He doesn’t talk about it with either Hanji or Erwin, preferring to keep it to himself, but his friends notice that something is wrong with him. Still, he keeps quiet, his meeting with Eren a secret he doesn’t feel like sharing.
***
One Friday night finds Levi wandering outside of his apartment, trying to change his mind with a bit of fresh air. The air is a little cold for an evening in the middle of April, but his coat and scarf keep him warm enough to tolerate it. A few other people are walking outside like him, probably on their way to meet friends somewhere in the city or simply going home after a long day of work. Levi pays them no mind until he spots a familiar silhouette in the crowd. It is almost like his eyes are attracted to the man, being able to find him in the middle of many unfamiliar faces.
Eren is walking down the street in his direction, this time alone, his hands in the pockets of his black hoodie. His hair is tied in a messy bun this time, but Levi tries to not let his eyes wander on his form too much. He turns around, not really in the mood for another surprise encounter, when he hears a deep voice resonating behind him.
“Hey! Wait!”
Levi keeps walking, trying to get away as far as possible from the man. He doesn’t want to think about the people Eren is probably on his way to spend the night with. He doesn’t want to hear his voice which seems to make his stomach fluster and his chest constrict. He isn’t as lucky, however. A hand carefully turns him around and he is met with an out of breath, smiling brunet, relief evident in his eyes as Levi stops and looks back at him.
“You’re the guy from last time!” Eren blurts, still trying to catch his breath.
“Uh… Yeah.”
“Seems like our roles are reversed this time, huh?” Eren quietly laughs.
Levi looks to the side, a little confused as to why Eren decided to run after him. He doesn’t seem as cold and wary as last time, his lips actually turned up in a smile, but Levi is still uncomfortable. This isn’t the Eren you remember, he chants in his head, trying to ward off the hope he can feel bubbling inside of him.
“Sorry, you’re probably wondering why I stopped you,” Eren clears his throat while rubbing his neck in a nervous habit. “I just wanted to apologize for last time. I was in a pretty bad mood and I took it out on you. So, uh, yeah… Sorry about that.”
Levi’s eyes widen at the sudden apology, his throat becoming tight and his mind a little fuzzy from the surprise. Eren seems embarrassed, looking at him before averting his eyes to the side, shifting his weight from one foot to the other as he waits for Levi to answer. It takes the raven a moment to get himself back together and reply to the brunet though.
“It’s fine. I- Sorry I bothered you that day.”
“Oh, it’s okay! Everyone makes mistakes!” Eren laughs once again, seeming to relax. “Actually, I wanted to do more than apologize. Like maybe buy you a drink if you’d like? I know a pretty good place just around the corner.”
Eren puts his hands back in his pockets, his attitude more confident but a shy smile on his face nonetheless. Levi is taken aback by the offer and tries to outweigh the pros and cons of his request. Is it really okay to hang out with someone who looks exactly like the man he used to have feelings for? Does he want to get to know this new version of Eren? Maybe it would be safer for him to refuse and just move on, but… there is a little voice inside of him that keeps saying: Why not?
“Just one drink! And if you want to leave after, no hard feelings, I’ll get it!” Eren tries again, sensing Levi’s hesitation.
“Fine,” Levi sighs, resigning himself, “one drink.”
Eren’s smile widens and he starts walking while making sure Levi is right behind him. The raven silently follows him, still mulling over his decision. He can’t shake off his curiosity. He knows Eren doesn’t remember, knows he is very much different, but that is why he wants to know more about this new him. Levi can’t keep on living his life knowing Eren is out there and not trying to make him a part of his life. He tried to do just that the last few days and it didn’t really work.
“I’m Andrew, by the way,” Eren says as he opens the door to a bar, the sound of slow, jazzy music reaching their ears, “but most people call me Drew.”
Levi can’t get around the idea of calling Eren by a different name, but he stores the information in his head in case he really needs to use it.
“I’m Levi.”
Eren directly goes to the counter to order drinks as Levi finds a table in a corner and gets himself comfortable. Soon, two glasses of beer arrive on their table and they start chatting, like two strangers getting to know each other, because that is technically what they are. Levi learns a little about Eren’s life, what he does for a living, his age, his hobbies, and Levi tells him about himself too. They finish their drinks pretty quickly and soon a second one follows, the raven having already decided to stay a little longer in the man’s company.
Eren is quite chatty, always bringing another subject on the table when they seem to run out of things to say on the one they were talking about, and Levi appreciates it. Talking with Eren seems easy, though there is something nagging at Levi. It’s probably the way Eren’s smile never reaches his eyes no matter how bright his face looks as he talks and laughs. Levi tries not to dwell on it too much, especially when he can feel himself getting a little light-headed.
How many drinks did he have?
He didn’t keep track, but it must have been too many because the next thing he knows, he is waking up in a bed which isn’t his in a room he doesn’t recognize. His head is pounding and he feels dizzy as he sits up, his memories hazy. He starts to panic, not knowing where he is nor how he ended up here. Where did Eren go? Is it his place?
Levi carefully stands, one hand holding his head as he feels it throbbing even more, and the other used to balance himself against the wall as his legs are heavy and wobbly. He eventually manages to exit the room he is in, and he carefully walks down a corridor until he reaches a large room which seems to be both a living room and an open kitchen. There, he spots a tall brown man and he feels his body sags with relief as he recognizes Eren.
“Oh! You’re up?” Eren says as he joins him, his face reflecting worry. “How are you feeling? You scared me back there!”
“I feel like a fucking train hit me,” Levi groans as he closes his eyes, his headache intensifying with the light. “What happened?”
“You completely passed out on me! I had no idea what to do, so I took you back to my place,” Eren explains to him. He then chuckles a little before adding, “You’re heavier than you look, by the way.”
“Sorry, I don’t remember drinking that much.”
Levi tries to take another step closer to the brunet but his body doesn’t seem to agree and he trips on his feet. Thankfully, Eren is there to catch him, and relief washes over him as he feels two strong hands holding his shoulders.
“Wow, easy there!” Eren makes sure Levi is stable before releasing him, his hands still open in front of him in case he needs to catch him a second time. “You want something to drink? Water? Coffee? Tea?”
“Tea, please,” Levi immediately answers. He passes a hand over his face and frowns as he feels his oily skin. “Ugh, I feel gross.”
Eren laughs at his remark as he starts making tea, “You’re welcome to use my shower, if you need to. It’s the door opposite my bedroom. And you can take whatever clothes you find inside my closet.”
Levi thanks him before going back from where he came. His legs are still a little unsteady, but he has a better balance now that he is getting used to it. Eren’s closet is built inside the bedroom’s wall, two big doors hiding its content from prying eyes. Levi rolls one to the side and peeks inside, trying to determine which clothes he can take. A fleeting thought that none of Eren’s clothes are going to fit him passes through his mind, but he disregards it as he can smell alcohol and tobacco on his own.
His eyes fall on a shelf where he can spot pajamas, and he reaches a hand to take a pair. As he does so, however, all the shelves start to shake and something falls on the top of his head. It didn’t hurt, thankfully, and Levi realizes why as he sees sheets of paper spread across the floor.
“Shit,” he hisses as he bends down to recover every page.
His eyes immediately catch drawings on the paper in his hands, and his brain freezes as he recognizes what the sketches are about. Titans. He can also identify the symbol of the Survey Corps, the Wings of Freedom, as well as a few faces he remembers from his old memories.
“Ahh, you weren’t supposed to see that,” a deep voice sighs behind him.
Levi instantly turns around to face the man, letting all the pages drop on the floor once again. The raven can feel his throat becoming dry as he sees Eren leaning against the door frame, his arms crossed in front of his chest, a small smile on his lips and a mysterious glint in his eyes. Suddenly, the man in front of him looks very different from the one he drank with a few hours ago, and a shiver runs down his spine as Levi realizes what it all means.
“You… You actually remember,” Levi exhales, not even phrasing it as a question. Eren’s smile widen and the raven can finally identify the glint in his eyes: excitement, madness.
“I was hoping to have my fun a little longer but,” Eren shrugs, coming closer to Levi who cannot help but back away at the movement, “I guess you found me out.”
Levi suddenly feels anger building up inside him and he growls back, “Why the fuck didn’t you say anything, Eren?” He insists on his name on purpose.
The brunet only laughs in front of his anger, and the sound of it makes Levi’s blood run cold.
“What is it, Levi? Were you sad I didn’t remember?” He comes even closer to the raven, backing him up against the wall. “Did you think I would run into your arms?”
Levi can’t help but flush at Eren’s words, both in embarrassment and shame, which earns him another chuckle from the man.
“You’re so pathetic, Levi,” Eren spits out, his eyes turning as cold as ice, looking more like the man he saw a few days ago. “You’ve been pathetic ever since Erwin died. Only talking about getting revenge and keeping your promise. The moment we eradicated all Titans from Paradis you became useless too. You almost ruined my plans when you went after Zeke.” Eren suddenly starts laughing, freezing Levi on the spot, his eyes unable to leave the maniacal grin on the brunet’s face. “Lucky for me, he did my dirty work. I was starting to wonder what I was going to do with you.”
Levi tries to push Eren away to get the hell out of this apartment, his survival instinct kicking in and telling him to run, but he can’t even make the man budge, still feeling dizzy and weak. It only makes the taller man laugh harder, who then proceeds to cage Levi between his body and the wall, both of his hands on either side of the raven’s head.
“My only regret is that I didn’t get to see you all bloody and mutilated,” Eren whispers, his forehead against Levi’s as he runs a finger down the raven’s cheek.
This isn’t Eren, Levi thinks over and over in his head. This can’t be Eren.
Levi has always known Eren was a monster, not because of his titan power, but because of his will and strength, of his determination. Levi saw it that day in the dungeon, the way Eren’s eyes shone with passion and anger, his soul bare for anyone to see. The soul of a monster. But the person in front of him isn’t the same. He is a monster, but he has no soul. Levi cannot see anything inside his eyes beside emptiness and cruelty. A cruelty his Eren didn’t possess.
Levi comes back to his senses as he feels Eren bite at his earlobe, making him hiss under the pain. He can feel his determination to leave fading as the buzz in his head intensifies from too much thinking.
Levi is trapped. He can’t escape, he has no way out. He is only a pray in front of his predator. Eren can do whatever he wants to him now, but it doesn’t matter. Levi has lost his last hope.
“So, what are you going to do, Captain?” Eren murmurs as his mouth goes lower, nipping at Levi’s skin.
Eren then sinks his teeth at the junction of his neck and shoulder, drawing blood, but Levi can’t seem to care anymore. The pain he feels from the bite isn’t painful enough to make him forget about his bleeding heart.
