#man in a suitcase #brainwash #blood tw #itc #1967 #classic tv #francis megahy #bernie cooper #charles crichton #richard bradford #colin blakely #howard marion crawford #suzan farmer #edric connor #bill brandon #george leech #so having taken a much needed break after marathoning the bw Saint eps and watched a few palate cleansers‚ i fully intended to press on #with the colour eps when a little voice said... no.. rewatch MiaS. tbf this is a rewatch I've been thinking of for a couple of years now;#it's certainly one of my favourite ITC shows and McGill one of my first tv loves (dreamy sigh). being the fool that i am i once again #decided to go transmission order which will mean much disc hopping; network (as is their way) follow production order and boy howdy did ATV #shuffle the eps on first showing. so much so in fact that the actual pilot which explains everything is ep 6; instead we start here‚ an ep #that ATV apparently considered more visually impressive to draw in first viewers (but which introduces us to a hero we know nothing about)#it's a fine episode (actually there's more to it than i remembered) but a weird opener. McGill is abducted pre credits so the entire ep #is just him having a Very Bad Time (which reminds me‚ if whump is your thing this is like... the perfect old tv. McGill has a Horrible Time #every ep and usually ends up bloodied and beaten‚ courtesy of Bradford's insistence on more realism and greater impact in the violence #Bradford was a method actor fresh from the states and his dogged professionalism‚ serious approach and slightly shy nature made #him a poor fit with the experienced brit character actors who mistook it for arrogance and contempt. in turn he was a little taken aback by #how some guest stars treated it as just a paycheck‚ and didn't have the highest regard for his co stars. a notable exception is this ep's #guest Blakely: Bradford was apparently deeply impressed and more than a little starry eyed of the Irish actor‚ particularly once he learned #of his work with the RSC. Crawford was near the end of his life at this point‚ and this would be one of his final tv projects

16. What makes their stomach turn?

Edric Surana - Although he thrived as a model student in the Ferelden Circle, once Edric spends some time out in the real world, he's furious at just how limited life for Circle mages really is, and just how little power they have to improve their circumstances. Injustice and inequity in general make Edric's stomach turn.

Beatrice Cousland - She gets a way more lighthearted answer. I feel so strongly that swamp-dweller, raised-semi-feral-by-a-legendary-witch Morrigan has a really broad definition of "edible" and has no concept of a five-second rule. Beatrice loves her wife so much, but she was raised a noblewoman and she cannot handle some of the things Morrigan considers food. (Cooked lizards, dried insects, slimy mushrooms.)

21. Why do they get up in the morning? (I'll answer for their post-DAO resting state in my brain, because their DAO answers are boring: to stop the Fifth Blight.)

Edric - He's waking up naked after noon this morning with tangled bedhead next to an equally naked Zevran, because last night they were out late on a Crow master stakeout. And once it was over, with the giddy knowledge that they were alive while a truly abhorrent person wasn't anymore, there was celebrating to be done that kept the two of them up even later.

Beatrice - She wakes up in the morning to attempt to strike a blow for compassion and reason against the callous insanity that is Orlesian politics. Seriously, why did Morrigan want to go to Orlais? Also, lately Kieran has started waking up really early because he's gotten into bird identification, and Bea is the morning person in her relationship, so she's more than willing to take one for the team and let Morrigan sleep in. It makes for good mom-son bonding time.

30. Who do they most regret meeting?

Although their personalities are pretty different, Edric and Beatrice share the idea that even their negative experiences shape who they are, so they don't really regret meeting certain people. In the spirit of the question, Edric definitely regrets forcing Alistair onto the throne, mostly motivated by Edric's own resentment at Alistair constantly shirking responsibility and how badly Edric himself wanted institutional power to change things. (Unharded solo king Alistair is a tragic pillar of the Edric worldstate.) For Beatrice's story, she regrets not saving Connor, which she didn't realize was remotely possible at the time.
