I honestly don't think I was capable of fully understanding how dangerous restricting was until after I had been in recovery for like 8 months already. And I sadly really mean that. I worry about you guys :((

i don’t get the fear mongering when it comes to eating healthier. people on here, tik tok, twitter even… like any mention of regulating any type of your food intake and people scream ED, AFRID, orthorexia, etc. i’m sorry but humans were not meant to have food this accessible to us at all times. not to mention processed and foods pumped with dyes/sugar syrup. like…. food is meant to be fuel it’s not meant to be something for self care. like the original purpose of food is to nourish your body.

why is it such a taboo to do that? but if i eat unregulated and indulge in processed foods that’s something to celebrate? it doesn’t click for me. obviously many diets and eating behaviors can be unhealthy for some but that’s the keyword. some. not all. and it’s asinine to assume every person who calorie counts or is mindful of their food has an ed or an inner mental issue with food.

maybe some of us haven’t fallen to the billion dollar food industry that’s convinced us processed food is the cure to a bad day instead of it literally poisoning your body over time. but ure right we’re the brainwashed ones….

"Georgia Republicans bundled over a dozen measures that targeted the state’s transgender residents into omnibus packages in a desperate attempt to get them passed. In a stunning defeat for the GOP, every single one of them failed.

Legislators gutted bills that had passed through committee and instead stuffed them full of their anti-LGBTQ+ wishlist items.

Bills that would ban transgender students from playing on teams aligned with their gender identity, ban transgender students from bathrooms aligned with their gender identity, opt parents into notification for every book a student checks out of the library, bar sex education before sixth grade, make all sex-ed classes opt-in and expand obscenity laws to make it easier to ban books with LGBTQ+ content all failed.

“MAGA politicians in Georgia tried it all in service to their anti-LGBTQ+ agenda,” said Human Rights Campaign Georgia State Director Bentley Hudgins, “including silencing debate and gutting unrelated, popular bills that had bipartisan support to ram through policies that would have put young LGBTQ+ Georgians in harm’s way. They failed.”

The trans campaigner, who did not wish to be named, told PinkNews that organisers of the ‘Let Women Speak’ event on Sunday (14 May) were “very keen” to have him speak after he posed as an anti-trans detransitioner. Instead, his intention was to get onto Parker’s ‘gender-critical’ livestream to share support for trans rights. He also wanted to send a message to genuine detransitioners to let them know they are “welcome” in the LGBTQ+ community. [...] During his speech, the speaker said he kept things specifically vague so that he could remain on mic for as long as possible to help spread the message of trans solidarity. But, after he said he attempted to “dismantle the mic”, Keen-Minshull, along with several of her supporters, forced him away from the stand. “The group crushed my hands, and arms, and left me with small cuts from the force they went in on me,” the speaker explained. “I have EDS and Nail Pattela Syndrome, hence the crutch, and have my joints pop out a lot when placed under force. My right hand is still in a lot of pain and I haven’t been able to use it that much after the incident. “But I had already gambled and knew that I would most likely get hurt trying to dismantle the mic.” Following the speech, he said he felt it important to note that, despite what anti-LGBTQ+ pundits may suggest, detransitioners are welcome in the community. “With detransitioners often being hit by fear-mongering, lies and hate … I needed to really hammer home that they are, in fact, welcome. “We want to support them, but falling into a cult such as the TERF movement is a sure fire way to really fall into a pit of self-hatred and loathing,” he said.

I remember getting the gardasil vaccine when it came out. I was a sophomore in high school at that time. My mom was like, the antithesis of an antivaxx mom, she would basically hand the doctors our arms anytime they mentioned a new vaccine. And I remember that was the first time I really heard of the antivaxx movement. I remember this woman got popular pretending that it caused her uncontrollable shakes that prevented her from walking (sound familiar? who would’ve thought antivaxxers would be a one trick pony) and just fear mongering about mercury in the vaccine. I remember my high school BIOLOGY teacher (the class that also taught sex ed) went on this entire rant about the HORRORS of Gardasil. She was not ecstatic when I announced to the class I got the two shots with no side effects.

And bc the vaccine was mainly for teens and young adults (to hopefully vaccinate them before becoming sexually active-which will be explained in depth in a minute) and at the time it was only available for afab, and it was for a sexually transmitted virus, casual slut shaming surrounded it too. Which I’m sure prevented many parents from allowing doctors to vaccinate their kids bc “their child isn’t a whore”.

Cervical cancer has one known cause. HPV. Gardasil protects against the strains of HPV known to cause cervical cancer (there’s over a 100 strains but only few cause cancer). HPV is THE most common STI with around 80% of the population having had it at some point. There is also no actual test for HPV. If abnormal cells are present during a pap smear, HPV is considered the culprit. There is no test to speculate if you have HPV (at least that im aware of) if you do not have a cervix, unless you have one of the strains that could potentially cause genital warts. Which most don’t. It can also lie dormant for weeks to YEARS before it becomes active. So a partner could transfer it from a previous relationship to a new one, while remaining completely monogamous. Or be impossible to pinpoint if someone has had multiple partners over the course of years and had unprotected sex. Which is why it was pushed to teens and young adults before they had sex.

This means that there are no doubt people who have died or at least suffered unnecessarily, bc even tho there is a vaccine out there that would prevent against that very scenario, due to the misinformation (and in this specific case additional misogyny) of the antivaxx movement.

“Potential scientists” fuck offffffffffff. “potential scientists”, their “potential scientist” told a classroom full of teens, whom they trusted to be an educated source of scientific information, they should avoid a possible life saving vaccine based off dogshit.

Anyways. Sorry this is clearly a topic I’m passionate about. I also know a lot of people who’ve never heard of this vaccine. The information about HPV came directly from my gyno when abnormal cells were found in my pap smear and she nearly cried tears of joy finding out I received both shots. The vaccine is available to everyone now. It’s better late than never, so even being sexually active it’s still a good idea to get it. This also being the celibacy website, getting it BEFORE being sexually active is ideal. (Also in case i scared anyone about HPV, the reason so many people have had it is bc its generally a very mild virus and usually has no symptoms and the body normally fights it off on its own. It’s just those strains that can cause cancer, both of the cervix and throat, are the ones that are obviously a concern. Which getting vaccinated can prevent against)

Idk how universal this is maybe it’s because my mom was a teen mom and I grew up in an area where unplanned pregnancy / lack of access to reproductive healthcare was a big issue, but I feel like there has to be a way to talk to teenagers about safer sex and pregnancy that doesn’t make you feel guilty and bad when you do decide to have a family.

Like, in the mid 2000s there was also all this fear mongering about teens getting pregnant on purpose / making “pregnancy pacts” and I feel like my sex ed was like “even if you think you want to have kids right now you don’t actually” which… was probably true if any middle and high schoolers wanted that but 1) genuinely don’t believe that any actually did 2) I feel like reality checks can be given in a way that aren’t “I know you better than you know yourself” 3) if a teenager gets pregnant, no matter how accidental or on purpose it was, it’s still their body and their child and denying them agency in making such important decisions about that is extremely cruel and unjust.

Anyway now I’m 30 and I still feel like I’m going to be scolded for wanting to have kids. When I went to my doctor to talk about it, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I’d be told that I wasn’t mature enough and that I was being silly and would ruin my life. I’m still nervous about my family’s reaction. Because it’s not like the magic age of being 18 changes people’s thoughts on it, and there’s no defined point when someone is “grown up” enough to make these kind of decisions. And it is so cultural and context dependent - on the other side of my family where people have kids in their early and mid 20s I’m basically an old maid and people give me sad looks and say “don’t worry … someday it could still happen.” But even on that side of the family, pregnancy announcements are usually met with skepticism and negativity.

It seems like no matter what the norms around it are, there’s a message of undercutting the notion that people should make decisions for themselves, and it is multiplied as the person is marginalized.

Medical professionals and people in general don’t understand eating disorders at all. They make accurate health information INACCESSIBLE and FEAR-MONGER instead of treating us like adults who are capable of comprehending their illnesses.

Every time I go to search up harm reduction information, realistic effects, ways to function while still having an eating disorder all I get is “YOU ARE GOING TO DIE IMMEDIATELY YOUR BODY IS GOING TO SHUT DOWN”

As if this is a choice I’m making. This is a curse I’m living with and I’m trying to make the best of it and understand it. All I’m actually getting is this bastardized image of people with eds, like we’re cunning villains with evil motives.

Maren Morris calls her new two-track EP “The Bridge,” which is just one of several metaphors she deploys in imagining a path out of the world of country music in which she became a star.

On “The Tree,” the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter says she’s “done filling a cup with a hole in the bottom”; “Get the Hell Out of Here” opens with the admission that she “watered the garden but forgot to fill the well.”

It’s not that Morris, 33, has tired of twanging guitars or neatly cornered rhymes, both of which define the tunes that came out Friday, a decade after she moved to Nashville from her native Texas, first to write songs for established country acts such as Tim McGraw and later to sign a major-label record deal of her own. Rather, she says she’s leaving because of what she views as the country music industry’s unwillingness to honestly reckon with its history of racism and misogyny and to open its gates to more women and queer people and people of color.

“I thought I’d like to burn it to the ground and start over,” she says of country music. “But it’s burning itself down without my help.”

The singer acknowledges that, as a white woman, she’s benefited from the system as it is. Yet Morris, who says, “Allyship begins with waking up from something really comfortable,” has been vocal in her criticisms onstage and on social media, where she tangled last year with country star Jason Aldean and his wife over young people seeking gender-affirming healthcare. The spat even made it to Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show, where the right-wing host described Morris as a “lunatic.”

“The Bridge,” which marks Morris’ move to Columbia Records from the label’s Nashville division, arrives accompanied by a music video for “The Tree” in which she strolls through an emptied-out small town as she hears “the sound of a new wind blowing.” A sign welcomes visitors to the place “from sunrise to sundown” — a reference, perhaps, to the threat of racist vigilantism many perceived in Aldean’s recent “Try That in a Small Town” video; other signs in front of boarded-up buildings read “GO WOKE GO BROKE” and “DON’T TREAD ON ME.”

Morris is currently at work on her next LP with prolific pop producer Jack Antonoff, with whom she recorded “Get the Hell Out of Here.”

Obviously, being one of the few women that had any success on country radio, everything you do is looked at under a microscope. You’re scrutinized more than your male peers, even when you’re doing well. So I’ve had to clear all of that out of my head this year and just write songs. A lot of the drama within the community, I’ve chosen to step outside out of it.

Did that drama — your feud with the Aldeans, let’s say — push you in that direction? Or were you headed that way from the beginning?

I’ve always been an asker of questions and a status quo challenger just by being a woman. So it wasn’t really even a choice. I didn’t think of myself as a political artist. I just wrote songs about real life through a lens of deep respect for my country heroes. But the further you get into the country music business, that’s when you start to see the cracks. And once you see it, you can’t un-see it. So you start doing everything you can with the little power you have to make things better.

That doesn’t make you popular. But I don’t think that biting the hand that fed you is a real thing. It’s kind of a fallacy at this point, with all this fear-mongering about getting Dixie Chick-ed and whatnot. Country music is a business, but it gets sold, particularly to young writers and artists who come up within it, as almost a god. It kind of feels like indoctrination. If you truly love this type of music and you start to see problems arise, it needs to be criticized. Anything this popular should be scrutinized if we want to see progress.

But I’ve kind of said everything I can say. I always thought I’d have to do middle fingers in the air jumping out of an airplane, but I’m trying to mature here and realize I can just walk away from the parts of this that no longer make me happy.

Does your leaving country music mean the libs have been owned?

I’m sure some people may think that. And I would say, “Feel free. Go ahead.” I don’t want to have an adversarial relationship to country music. I still find myself weirdly wanting to protect it. But it’s not a family member. That’s the f—ed-up part, is that I’m talking about it as if it’s a person, but it’s not. So it’s a lot of deep deconstructing that I’m still unraveling.

These songs are obviously the result of that — the aftermath of walking away from something that was really important to you and the betrayal that you felt very righteously. But also knowing there’s a thread of hope as you get to the other side. I hope it comes across that way because I truly was in a space of hope when I wrote the two songs, even though “Get the Hell Out of Here” is really heavy. It’s about disarming that trauma and saying, “I can’t bail water out of this sinking ship anymore. It’s so futile. I choose happiness.”

Whose career path do you admire in terms of the ability to move from one style to another?

Certainly Taylor Swift. She’s been such a great friend over the years and has been really helpful in ways she probably doesn’t even realize in conversations I’ve had with her about everything you and I have been talking about.

You performed a song with Swift at an Eras tour stop in Chicago. What did you think of the show?

It was so inspiring. Performing for 3½ hours, three days in a row — no one can do that but her. And it’s such a supportive crowd: 90% women and 10% gays and dads. I’ve never felt so safe at a live show before. No one’s hammered or puking in the aisles or getting into a fight or anything. It’s just so joyful. And the way she makes that huge stadium setting feel intimate is astounding to me. In Chicago, I started running down the catwalk toward her after I came out of the hydraulic lift. She said, “Take your time,” and I was like, “OK, good, because this thing’s a mile long.”

Okay, here's the elaboration of @krakenguard's ask.

Okay so let me start off by saying that I don't think there is much of a stigma around premarital sex in The Lands Between, especially not now that society has all but crumbled. Perhaps there is somewhat regarding royalty but that's more about the legitimacy of heirs than anything regarding the sex itself. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't even remember any spouse(s) and/or consort(s) of Godwyn's being mentioned so who knows, maybe all of the Golden Lineage are bastards and nobody really cares.

However, despite this, I still think Morgott would have a few hangups when it comes to sex by virtue of being an Omen. Since being an Omen is viewed by The Golden Order and society at large as a curse and a disgrace, I don't think it would be much of a stretch to believe that having sex with an Omen, or Omens having sex in general, is considered taboo. I don't even know if the offspring of an Omen would also be born an Omen, but it would make sense that in such a culture there would be a lot of propaganda and fear mongering going on to limit the amount of Omens reproducing to a minimum.

I could imagine such superstitions as "an Omen will fuck the Grace right out of you" being somewhat commonplace. So, Morgott was likely told that having sex with someone would cause actual spiritual damage to them, and internalized that whether or not he believed it to be true. He probably did not get much formal sex ed apart from that. Despite this, he's been around long enough to at least have a basic knowledge and understanding of sex. He has been celibate all of his life, but he very likely has urges at least occasionally that he takes care of quickly like another chore. He wouldn't see it as a "sin" per se, but he has enough self-hatred to still feel disgusted with himself every time he "gives in".

So yes, he definitely has issues about sex, but those are far outweighed by his issue of believing himself entirely unworthy of love. Thus, if he is at the point where he can accept that he is loved, it is relatively easy to accept that he can be intimate with the one he loves. For if he can love and be loved, something he previously denied, then many avenues and possibilities have just been unlocked for him.

Unfortunately, because of this, hatesex with his Tarnished rival is highly unlikely. Which is a bummer, because the idea of sexual tension boiling over in the midst of a heated battle leading to a rough and slightly bloody romp against the wall, all teeth and insults and forbidden desires is… whoo boy. But Morgott is simply too skilled at denying himself what he wants, and will refuse to act on it with anything other than his own hand. Even if he craves it, dreams about it, and can tell the desire is mutual, all he'll do is jack off, self-flagellate, and pray for forgiveness for wanting what he is unworthy of.

Likewise, if his lust is borne from feelings of affection and love, he will have a similar routine of pining and stewing in his own misery until he has gone through the process of learning to accept himself.

So by the time his stubbornness has given way, I'd imagine he's had thoughts for some time, and now that he has conceded that they are acceptable to want, he wants them badly. However, he is held back from making the first move or even bringing up the topic by his residual insecurities, as well as his lack of experience. He may have a basic understanding of sex and his own desires, but has little idea how he'd realistically go about it, which leads us to the elephant in the room.

(The elephant is Morgott. See, it's a funny joke because he's very big and an elephant is also very big and)

Yeah. There's a significant size difference at play here, and that is going to make the act itself a bit tricky. It's not as much of a problem if you headcanon Morgott has a vagina (an incredibly valid interpretation) though there would still be quite a few positions rendered impossible by his size. I've been thinking about Green Day because they are apparently relevant again...

The year is 2006

Months before the student council had asked for students to submit songs to be voted on. My friend group hummed and hawed about it for a few days, and we eventually decided that Float On by Modest Mouse was a good choice. We all went around to other friend groups and tried convinced a few people to go along with us.

The early to mid 2000's where bat shit crazy (although compared to the 2020's haha fuck...) it was the height of "the war on terror", and I feel lead vocalist Issac Brock summed it up perfectly that time in an interview.

"It was a completely conscious thing. I was just kind of fed up with how bad shit had been going, and how dark everything was, with bad news coming from everywhere. Our president George W. Bush is just a fucking daily dose of bad news! Then you've got the well-intentioned scientists telling us that everything is fucked. I just want to feel good for a day."

At the time, it felt like the song was saying "yeah shit sucks, but just keep pushing forward. You'll get there" and that resonated with our teen brains that were constantly bombarded with fear mongering, blatant racism, homophobic raving, and the looming economic recession. (So about the same as now I guess) Christ, I thought I was closeted and socially withdrawn now. Back then I was constantly told to my face I looked like a school shooter/drug dealer or asked (called) if I was gay (or other slurs of that nature) by "friends" and "family". Only for them to then turn face and day shit like "I should be more open about my feelings and talk more" or "you feel distant". Hmm I wonder why.

Anyway

Lo and behold the day the ballots were handed out Float On was there. However, so was Time of You're life by Green Day. That lunch we cast our votes and a sense of dread hung over our group as we sat around the lunch table. We all wondered if people knew that the full title of the track is Time of your life (Good Riddance) and what it was even about.

For those that don't know or are too young, the song is about the lead of Green Day masking his anger about an ex moving away and being a passive-aggressive man child about the whole situation.

The class of 06 graduation came, and I somehow received my diploma. As the ceremony wrapped they played us out to Time of your life (Good Riddance). My friends and I all gave each other a quick knowing cringed glance, and after the celebration we headed over to a friend house to play 3.5 ed D&D for the entire weekend before our last summer together.

Since that day I have never gone back to that high school, or spoken to the majority of the people i graduated with. I remember one of my friends at the time said "as you get older you'll miss them and the times we shared" and honestly... Good Riddance.
