Chapter one: Flashbacks

June 1990

You adjusted the microphone clipped to your chest one more time before you heard your name announced through the loud speaker. 

“Have fun!” The nice lady with the clipboard and earpiece chirped at you before she gave your back a gentle shove to get moving. You hobbled forward, legs shaking from the rush of anxiety. Is this how Eddie feels before he performs for thousands of people? It can’t be the same. 

Loud upbeat jazz music played from the live band on the corner of the stage to make your entrance more dramatic. Like you were supposed to be someone important. 

Times like these made you thankful that you chose to be a screen actor and not a stage actor. You couldn’t handle the pressure of the live crowd. All of those expectant eyes staring at you and taking in your every move, just waiting for you to mess up somehow. 

It was different when it was just you and crew on a movie set. You could mess up and have the chance to redo things. No one judged you for forgetting a line or giggling during a difficult scene. A good director would just call cut and start over. 

Real life wasn’t so forgiving. 

One foot in front of the other, your heels clicked across the polished floor as you made your way onto the stage where Eddie and the host stood  and waited for you with smiles on their faces. 

Eddie had a hand out to you to help you to your seat. He wore his tight leather pants and a billowy black shirt that was unbuttoned down his chest, showing off pale skin and tattoos. His thick black boots pulled the look all together. You thought he looked like some sort of rugged rocker pirate. 

He looked much more relaxed like this compared to you, who got shoved into a tight dress and heels despite your protesting. 

This is what stars do. These are the sacrifices you have to make. 

When Eddie called you and begged you to come onto this late night show with him, you initially laughed and told him to shove it where the sun doesn't shine. This wasn’t your first talk show, having done a few when you first started taking off a couple of years ago after landing your breakout role. But you have avoided doing anything like this ever since then. Every time you stepped out under the lights and saw the live audience your stomach shriveled up. 

How ironic was it to be an actress with crippling stage fright. 

It wasn’t only the crowd that got to you. The hosts always had a way to make these things feel like normal conversations when really they wanted to sensationalize everything. A seemingly innocent question could start a forest fire that would have tabloids and paparazzi chasing you down for weeks or even in unlucky cases, years. 

Eddie caught your eye as you approached the chair beside him. He gave you a small wink and  greeted you like he hadn’t just been offering to hold a trash can for you to puke into in your dressing room. 

“I already talked to Margie about it. She thinks it’s a great idea,” he had said smugly on the phone when he called to talk you into doing this. 

“Who gave you my manager's number and why do you think you can call her whenever you want?” You had asked him, pissed off that he had thought to go around you. He knew once he involved Margie you would have a hard time getting out of it. 

“Margie gave me her number a while ago.” You could imagine him waving his hand in the air like it didn’t matter. “I knew it would come in handy one day.”

And he was right, of course. Margie insisted that it would be great to go on the talk show and rub elbows. Let Eddie charm the fans while talking up your upcoming movie and his upcoming album and tour. 

“The press loves to see you two together!” Margie had reminded you when she left you with no choice but to come to this tonight. 

The host, Johnny Flick, waited behind his large desk with a bright smile, leaning over it to shake your hand. His teeth were unnaturally white. His hair bleached and combed back into a high pompadour. 

You thought it was kind of funny that he used a desk for live TV interviews like these. Almost like he was a judge presiding over his court. 

“Welcome! Welcome!” He greeted you as you sat in the cushioned chair beside Eddie. Johnny  adjusted the large microphone that sat in front of him so it was closer to his mouth. 

The crowd applauded and cheered even louder as you gave them a little wave. The sound was a deafening roar, making your ears rumble. At least the girls weren’t letting out high pitched squeals for you like they did when Eddie sauntered up to his seat before you. 

“Hi, Johnny,” you said sweetly, flashing him your best smile. 

Fake it till you make it. 

The crowd hushed to allow the interview to get started. 

“Let me tell you, I am so happy you decided to join us tonight!” Johnny said enthusiastically, eliciting another cheer from the crowd. 

“Happy to be here,” you smiled back while mentally calling Eddie every bad name in the book. 

“Glad to hear it! Now, I’m going to jump right into it. I heard through the grapevine that you and Eddie have quite the history together! Is that right?” Johnny asked with a salacious smile and a wink. 

There it was. Fishing for information. Anything to get their show more ratings. Twist and turn things to make them more scandalous than they actually are. 

He didn’t even bother asking how you were. He just jumped right into the juicy stuff. 

Eddie sat forward, his charming smirk on display. The one that had anyone and everyone dropping their panties in a heartbeat.You thought you heard a girl gasp loudly from the front row. You fought the urge to roll your eyes at the theatrics of it all. 

You were immune to Eddie’s shenanigans. 

“You’re looking at the longest relationship I’ve ever been in,” Eddie crooned from beside you. 

He was really dialing it up tonight. His rockstar persona was in full force that had every eye focused on him. You were thankful though because you knew what he was doing. Getting the attention off of you. You wondered at what point he felt bad about forcing your hand to be on the show with him. Was it during your first panic attack of the night or the second?

“Is that so?” Johnny questioned, taken off guard while he glanced down at the cheat sheet of notes in front of him. 

You thought  you heard someone break out in tears at the thought of Eddie not being single. 

You sighed. “We’ve been best friends for about twelve years,” you spoke up before a riot could start, a smile still plastered to your face. How long would you have to smile like this before it became permanently stuck onto your face? 

It wasn’t the first time you had to clarify that you and Eddie were just friends. And it wouldn’t be the last. 

“Twelve years! That’s amazing. I know of marriages that don’t last that long,” Johnny exclaimed. The audience gave a well timed laugh. You wondered if there was an illuminated sign that told them when to laugh like in the movies. 

You remembered that day from twelve years ago well. The day you approached the skinny kid with a buzz cut and big brown eyes that sat out on the trailer steps across from where you lived with your grandmother. You noticed everyday the first couple of weeks he moved in he would only play by himself. You would strain your ears trying to hear the fantasy stories he would mutter to himself while drawing in his notebook or playing with dragon figurines. 

One day you approached him and asked him to tell you some of the stories about the dragons. The both of you had been inseparable ever since. 

So when Eddie thought he could travel to LA to make a name for himself, it was a no brainer for you to follow. 

Once the laughter died down Johnny spoke again, “And how did you two both manage to make it big?”

“Well,” Eddie said, taking the reins for you once again. “I had a hard time graduating highschool so when I wanted to come out to California to start over, I begged my best friend here to come with me to keep me out of trouble,” he said with a chuckle, his eyes softening at the memory. You could tell he was picturing the time he got on both knees and held onto your ankles, crying and pleading for you to come with him so he wouldn’t have to come out here alone. Even though all of Corroded Coffin was coming with him. Of course he always left that part out of the retelling of the story. “We both got lucky I guess. Corroded Coffin landed a record deal within the first year and a month after that she landed her first big role. It was just dumb luck.”

You smiled and nodded along. You wondered how long you could get away with just doing that. 

Margie liked to call you ‘the most introverted celebrity’ she had ever met. You couldn’t find it in yourself to be offended. It was the truth. You attended the red carpets and movie premiers just to go home as soon as possible and curl up on your couch alone. 

“No way that was just luck! You are both way too talented for that!” Johnny said loudly. The crowd murmured enthusiastically in agreement. 

“I think she’s the more talented one out of the two of us. Did you see that she has a new movie coming out in a few weeks? It’s going to be great,” Eddie said as he knocked a knuckle against your shoulder. 

“Yes! And we will show the trailer for that in just a bit! Now do you have any embarrassing stories from when  you were younger?” Johnny asked, leaning in close to you and Eddie like he was a friend to you both. 

“I left my notebook full of embarrassing stories about Eddie somewhere at home,” you tried to deflect with a laugh. 

“Oh, come on! Let’s hear one! Eddie, do you have any embarrassing stories to share?” Jonny pushed with a big smile. 

The crowd cheered in agreement. 

“I’ll tell you one,” Eddie announced from beside you. “One time she had to come rescue me from prom because my date was actually a prank. I got so embarrassed that I  hid in the bathroom for at least an hour.”

The crowd awed at his story. You apologized in your mind for all the mean words you had mentally thrown at him earlier. He could have easily told him the thousands of the stories he had of you. But instead, he chose to pick on himself. 

“It’s true,” you nodded with a sad smile. “I had to go into the mens bathroom and everything to drag him out.”

To this day, you still had a vow to beat up Jenny Johnson if you ever saw her again. 

What he wasn’t telling them was that after you showed up to rescue him, he pulled you out onto the dance floor for just one dance. 

Neither of you were telling that it happened to be a slow song by the time you made it to the dance floor. And you definitely weren’t going to share how neither of you had brought up the kiss since it happened five years ago. 

“That’s a good friend!” Johnny proclaimed, pulling you out of the memory. 

“The best,” Eddie agreed softly, drawing your attention over to him. 

He smiled at you, not the panty dropping smirk he reserved for everyone else, but instead his actual smile. The kind of smile that had the corner of his eyes crinkling.  You smiled back, your real smile too. 

For a moment you almost forgot that you had cameras practically in your face, broadcasting every facial expression and answer live to the people at home. The audience disappeared into the void. It was just you and your best friend. Just you and Eddie. 

“So, any other special relationships we should know about?” Johnny asked, you could see the lines where his spray tan streaked on his neck as he turned to you. 

You were used to this question. Margie, along with your publicist, drilled it into you at this point in your career where you were still up and rising to keep the answer to this question vague. You had to seem available in order to draw people in. 

“Oh, nothing serious,” you smiled widely back at Johnny like you were letting him in on a secret. 

“And what about you Eddie? Anything serious for you right now?”

Eddie turned to the crowd and flashed them a toothy grin. More girls screamed. The Bermuda Triangle stopped being weird. World Peace was declared. 

“You know I’m not ready to settle down,” he said seductively. “If someone special decides to speak up then maybe I’ll change my mind.”

There was the chatter of a bunch of audience members talking over each other, trying to see who could be the loudest to get Eddie’s attention. 

The back of your neck had an uncomfortable chill. It wasn’t a secret that Eddie had really enjoyed his time being single and famous. He had taken the chance to enjoy all of the perks of being a sex symbol. 

Or at least that’s what you had seen in the gossip columns that you shamelessly still read. Eddie never once flaunted that part of his life in front of you. He shielded you from all of the dirty parts of rock’n’roll. 

“And with that we’re going to head to commercial break where we get to see that trailer we promised you  and when we come back Corroded Coffin is going to play us something from their new album Red Distortion!”

The crowd cheered as you and Eddie gave the cameras a wave before they zoomed away from you. Once you were in the clear, you stood to exit the stage while the band rushed together to prepare for the performance part.

Margie waited for you at the stage exit. “You did great,” she said, her red lipstick cracking on her lips. An assistant from the sound crew unhooked you from your mic expertly. 

“I’m so ready to go home,” you murmured to her as you stood and waited for the break to be over and for Eddie to start playing. If it wasn���t for that, you would already be in a car by now heading back to your condo. 

Margie chattered in your ear with a hushed tone. Something about numbers and ratings that you didn’t have the mental capacity to retain at the moment. 

The break passed by quickly, and before you knew it Eddie was strumming on his guitar for the opening of his new song Numb. 

Moments like these reminded you of when you used to sit front row at The Hideout. You would sing along loudly to every song Eddie would play, even if you were the only one watching them. Eddie’s eyes would always focus on you while he sang, like it was just the two of you there. He called you his best fan ever even though at one point you were probably his only one. 

Eddie’s eyes flicked over to where you stood backstage, like he could feel your stare. He gave you a playful wink that you rolled your eyes at before he faced the audience again.

Even though you hated the crowds, you still loved your job. When you came out here with Eddie you never planned on getting into acting. It was never something you had imagined doing even when you were younger. You never did theater or drama in school, for obvious reasons. But one day while with Eddie at the recording studio one of the guys there knew someone who was looking for a new and unheard actress for his up and coming movie. And you happened to fit the description. Since then, your career took off beside Eddie’s. 

It sure did beat working at the gas station like you did when you were in Hawkins. 

Before you knew it, Eddie was barreling towards you with his guitar slung on his back. 

“You did great!” Margie cooed at Eddie, taking the time to smooth the top of her short hair. 

Eddie ignored her. “Yeah, this sucks,” he said as he threw an arm around you, the smell of his spicy cologne hitting your nose. You leaned into him, hoping to take some pressure off your feet as he led you back towards the back door. Margie followed along, her shoes loudly clicking across the floor as she tried to keep up. You felt bad that she was carrying your purse on top of her own things, but it was safer to fight off the crowds when you had both hands free. 

“I’ll understand if you never forgive me, sweetheart. But hopefully taking you out on a late night food run will make it up to you?” Eddie asked, eyes pleading. He knew how miserable you were. He had never been to something like this with you before so you didn’t think he had believed you when you told him how much you hated them. 

You bet he believed you now. 

You sighed like you were thinking about it. “I mean, gracing you with my presence is the least I can do since you’ll be on tour soon,” you said lightheartedly. 

Eddie plucked the side of your face. He knew how much you both missed each other when he was away. This wasn’t the first tour he had been on and it wouldn’t be the last. He was just as grumbly when you were the one having to travel away from LA to film. You were never gone for six months straight like he was about to be though. 

Security flanked you, preparing for the crowd and chaos that was about to transpire. 

“Alright. Let’s go,” Eddie said as he pulled you close protectively and led you out of the back of the studio where the fans and flashing lights awaited.

We are now entering a period wherein we adopt the culture of South Korean artists, especially their food, exercises, clothes, dramas, and music.

Have you ever wondered why K-pop idols and actors are so skinny?

K-idols and actors balance and are strict with their lifestyles, including their workouts and food intakes.

Who wouldn't like to be as skinny as them? Let's start to be fit before the year ends.

First, be determined to workout once or twice a week at your convenience for thirty minutes to one hour. There are a lot of workout exercises on YouTube right now; you just have to do them and make a choice on which exercise is best for you. For me, cardio workouts standing I usually do once a week. First year of pandemic, usually I do workouts every day. Yeah, I was satisfied. In two weeks, I did achieve abs and became skinnier. Some of us hit the gym to become fit, which is also good.

But let's see how K-pop idols and actors do their workouts. As they said, before you make your debut in a group, you must undergo a series of training sessions in proper exercise, diet, singing, dancing, etc. Let's focus on their workout.

4th Generation Le Sserafim workout routine: 100 jumping jacks, 4x25 burpees, 2x10 jump squats (holding ears), 1 song plank crawl, 2x10 plank up and down, 2x10 plank twist, and 75 crunches

Girls Generation leg workout routine: 15 thigh hovers, 20 squats, 10 side planks, 20 inner thigh lifts, 15 hip kicks, 15 high knees, 10 lunges, and 19 hip raises

Blackpink Jennie Kim does pilates exercise for one to two hours for five days in a week. This helps to be flexible, strengthen, and tone the body.

BTS’s Jungkook Workout Routine: Knowing Jk, he does boxing exercises in his Weverse Live, but he also does 20 squats, 20 pushups, 20 jump squats, 20 pike pushups, 10 planks, 20 mountain climbers, 15 burpees, 20 crunches, 20 leg raises, and 20 Superman’s exercises to achieve his amazing toned body.

Exercise has advantages; it helps our brains improve, helps us manage our weight, strengthens our bones and muscles, improves our daily activities, and has a low disease risk (don't abuse it too much because it may also have a great risk in our body).

Second is food. Who doesn't like food? Do you know kpop idols and actors are forbidden from eating condiments, sweets, fried chicken, tteokbokki, pastry, ice cream, noodles, hamburgers, and jokbal before they debut as artists because they need to have a slim or skinny figure? They undergo really strict diets.

In the Philippines, there are a lot of fast food chains and restaurants opening from time to time.

Salt is usually what we put in our food, but have you heard that if we intake too much salt, there is a bad risk to the body? Salt intake in excess can be associated with disease, weight gain, and much more, but for us Filipinos, we can't remove it from our foods. We are fond of eating noodles, junk foods, fast foods, and restaurants. I read a lot of articles about how some salty foods can cause swelling. Sweets can gain us weight, and articles show they tend to give us acne or pimples. As per my experience, I am very observant about it. Back when I was in high school, I loved eating sweets like chocolates, candies, and much more, which gave me acne on my face and on my back. In time, I stopped eating chocolate, any sweets, and milk too. It slowly disappears, but then again, consult a physician for more information. Meat is really delicious, but the fatty part is no good if eaten too much, especially if you are really on a diet. The breadings, sauces, and ingredients we put on them are sometimes bad for our health. chicken, preferably the breast part for those on a diet.

Let's see how K-pop artists eat.

For IU, apple, sweet potato, and protein shake for a day

Suzy Bae ate one chicken breast and a banana for breakfast and drank a glass of milk. For lunch, she ate brown rice and a small vegetable salad. She finished the day with two sweet potatoes.

Blackpink Jennie's low-sodium (salt) diet, detox juices, and salad with avocado

That’s why they could lose weight in a short period of time. Remember to drink water.

I'm not saying it is bad, but in moderation, did you know that home-cooked food is still the best for me because we can control it on our own? Eating vegetables and fruits can also help us in our diet, but it really depends on a person's lifestyle and diet. There are a lot of apps now that you could try to help us plan our meals and exercises. We just need the determination within ourselves.

BLEACH: The Thousand Year Blood War Ep 18 & 19 Reactions and Thoughts

Overall reaction:

First up, I didn't write anything for episode 18 last week because when I sat down to do it, all I could think to talk about was Renji's bankai reveal, which was epic, but didn't have much more to say beyond that. I loved the whole thing though, they made Renji look like such a badass throughout. And the reveal itself was *chef's kiss*

As for this week...WOW. JUST WOW. INCREDIBLE, AMAZING, WOW. There's one main highlight and you all know what it is. Just...look at her:

This is one of the most stunning things I've ever seen coming out of this show, that includes the original series. Hell, this is one of the most stunning bits of animation I've ever seen. How did they make her bankai more pretty and elegant than it already was in the manga?! I just love that her collar and sleeves are transparent, and the little details like the snowflake pattern that constantly moves over her clothes.

The visuals for this episode were so amazing, and as you can tell, I can't reblogging gifs of it. I loved every second from a visual standpoint, everything was beautifully drawn and coloured, whether it was make Rukia look fierce or terrified or beautiful, or to make As Nodt more creepy and hellish than he already is. I mean, just look at this creep:

I loved this design in the manga, and I am LOVING it here now! Paired with church bells and music, this was a fantastic reveal.

As this adaption continues to show, when it comes to the fights of this arc, it's 10/10. Whether it's added content, hearing these characters say the lines, or just finally seeing these panels animated, it's reminding me of why I was so desperate to see this arc adapted into an anime. The moment I saw As Nodt's hand graze Rukia's, and she flinches and tries to find him, I got hyped. The moment he transformed into his Vollstandig, I was screaming. And then Rukia unleashes her bankai, and I was rolling in my chair. If As Nodt vs Rukia doesn't go down as one of the best anime fights from this year, I'll be shocked.

For one, while it goes without saying at this point, I cannot emphasis enough how GOOD the animation is:

I also loved the call back to decaying characters and the flies and how they were used for Rukia's greatest fear. It's a connection to Byakuya, an experience they can say they've both shared now, and it adds to the scenes that come next when he tells her he's proud of her and he helps her defrost.

Speaking of that scene, it was already a great moment in the manga, but see it not only animated but voiced, I teared up a little. I looked forward to seeing the dub version of the scene too, I have no doubt Michelle Ruff and Dan Woren will do great here. It's a small, emotional moment for the two them, and it's more or less a conclusion their brother-sister arc. We've come a long way since the beginning, huh?

While we're on voice acting, can we give As Nodt actor absolute praise. He made him so gosh dark creepy throughout. This is the kind of voice I would hear while reading the manga, and the way he was able to morph his voice from quiet monotony to raging growls was just amazing. He was a standout in the episode for me honestly.

If I had two nit-picks about the animation, one is that As Nodt's eyeball monsters looked a little weird and out of place, but it's so small it didn't take away from the fight for me. The other is the weird video filter they used over Rukia's flashbacks; not sure why they used that filter? Is it trying to say the original show is that old now? Were they trying to be creative? Regardless, it jarred me a little, but again, it's a nit pick in what is otherwise a fantastic episode.

Overall, it was an amazing episode that will likely be in my top fifteen of the arc of the show. Next week, I'm preparing for two shikai reveals and maybe a few tears ;_;

horizon comeback stage (sister release to answer. LIVES were once more on the line. this is to me their best song ever. the choreo is a feat of art and i do not say this lightly. spot some sweet and respective yeosang and yunho actions for the key parts of this song.)

LIGHTER AND THE PRINCESS

As the saying goes what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Li Xun wanted to make a comeback after hitting rock bottom years ago. He was still stubborn as ever and wanted to fight Gao Jianhong after he betrayed him and took over his company which was also run by Fan Zhijing.

This time around Zhu Yun came back from abroad and later discovered that Li Xun no longer owns the L&P company and wanted to help him after all they started this company together. Zhu Yun is such a gem after all without her Li Xun would never implement his plan successfully.

Li Xun refused her help but after some twists and turns they ended up working together. They worked in a gaming company called My Heart Flying.It was a small company but later with their leadership and team effort the company prosper and develop successful apps.

At first they were not getting along well and haven't talked for a long time since they broke up years ago. Zhu Yun remained very persistent and wanted Li Xun to trust her. He later found out that she also sufferred all these years and slowly opened up his heart again. They promised each other that they would remain as colleagues. But Li Xun is sulking like a child sometimes acting jealous and teasing her knowing that she easily believes him no matter what he does or say. He is acting all proud but deep inside he still likes her.

While developing the app,they visited their professor and they were so grateful to him. He reminded Li Xun to always choose the right path. Zhu Yun also realized that if only she didn't push Li Xun to join the competition years ago he would never felt so much hatred towards Fan Zhijing. He reasurred her to trust him and he was never afraid of anyone. Zhu Yun praised him for his fearlessness and confidence.

Gao Jian Hiong wants to win against Li Xun and uses unscrupulous ways to defeat him. But Li Xun always outsmarts him. No one wants to back down. The writer just wants to give Gao Jianhong sympathy after all he was a hard working man and he suffered from setbacks and his self confidence was greatly affected.Li Xun at that time failed to realize that he hurt Gao Jianhong along the way and pushed him to do bad instead of good.As what Zhu Yun said Li Xun is stubborn and never admits his mistakes. Every character in the show has its flaws and towards the end we get to see them change for the better.

Towards the end,it was revealed why Li Nana married Gao Jianhong and even wanted to divorce him but later she found out he was ill and needed an operation. But she stayed in the end and helped him.The last episodes were rushed. The battle ended because he was sick and everyone later realized that fighting each other would only make things worse.

It would have been better if Gao Jianhong helped Li Xun and Zhu Yun won against Fan Zhijing. But it was different he was more mean and Zhi Jing has to remind him what to do. Finally in the end the good ones always win. They finally took their company back.

Later Li Xun and Zhu Yun married each other but they have to convince her parents to accept him especially her mom.

The series ended happily and they were just a very sweet loving couple. Their chemistry was off the charts and they were so natural in almost every scene.I just wanna fall in love seeing them together.

One of the best cdramas so far. Some parts were cliche but the actors were so good that you can't just predict what is gonna happen next. This is gonna be my fave dramas of all time.

Curious but how did you come up with your OC? Is she her own fandomless OC you have verses for, or has she always been one in the Persona universe?

Truth be told, Sylvia is a self-insert OC. I have other verses of her, and her background is usually different in every one, to better explain her circumstances. It's just, her Persona verse is the most active one I have on Tumblr. I came up with her in middle school, when I was at my lowest point, and Sylvia became my go-to comfort character ever since, because... she helped me escape.

But the truth is, I have lots of verses for her. Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's is one (which I don't actually use on here since I don't have any 5D's moots, but I am writing a fic about it on Wattpad-- it's the kind of fic that I'm not really proud to have, but I'm too attached not to write it, so into the trash bin it goes, I guess). I also have verses like Pokemon, in which she only accumulates her trauma after going out on a Pokemon journey, or Fire Emblem, where she's a glass cannon mage tasked with defending her lord (and maybe falls a little ill because of all the magic she's got inside her).

There are others, of course, but at the moment I can't think of many, since right now I'm hyperfixated on the Persona series, but if there are any other fandoms I like that I want Sylvia to be a part of, chances are she's there, with at least a basic background that I can build on if I start focusing on it again (like My Hero Academia). Oh, but I don't actually watch popular anime like One Piece, Bleach, Death Note, or Demon Slayer. Especially not Fullmetal Alchemist; I watched it when I was younger and got traumatized by the chimera dog. It's a little bit tricky, but I mostly find myself attracted by JRPGs, which is when I start to wonder, "I wonder what it would be like for Sylvia here? What kind of background would she have? How would she interact with the characters?" Building her up from there, coming up with funny scenarios with other characters, creating mischief and angst and blending the two into a believable character... It's all a lot of fun for me.

Sylvia being a self-insert doesn't mean that I take everything personally when I RP. Instead, the way I act with her feels more like she's a "doll" or an act that I play with. If other characters have personally hurt her, that's not an attack on me, nor is it an attack on her. It is an in-character interaction, much like how two actors who act out characters on stage that fight one another doesn't mean that the actors themselves are fighting.

The way she looks and is as a character is built in ways I can relate to, and it helps me to cope with the real world and real traumas I have. In a way, Sylvia could actually be my own personal Persona-- a mask I wear to get through the real world.

Sylvia's appearance is based purely on what I would find ideal on myself, and is sorta like what I think my personality looks like if it were a person. Her background, though, is something I have fun playing around with and building with the world, and I do my best not to break the boundaries of whatever world she's in, but bend them a little bit to make her seem unique without trying to take attention away from other, more important characters.

I guess you could call Sylvia almost a "trauma response," but I prefer to think of her more as a "special interest," because through her, I can learn better how to write, how to behave myself, and simply have fun interacting with canon characters.

Also, exhibiting some of my own personal habits through her helps me identify my faults as a person, and figure out things that I need to work on versus what things may be cute or fun in an objective sense, which I could leave alone after a bit of moderation. Such as...

...m-my habit of rambling. Or my dislike of loud noises.

But not everything Sylvia does is the same as me! For example, I don't actually live on a farm like Sylvia does in both the Pokemon and Persona 5 verses. My home is actually in a suburban area. Sylvia's location also isn't exactly the same as mine, and depending on the verse, her skillset isn't the same as mine either-- the only things that remain the same are her like of drawing, singing, and writing. Sometimes it isn't possible for her to play a flute, or to play video games, or even to just ride a bike. So really, how close she is in depiction to the actual me depends on the verse, but all of it is simply to have fun.

I hope that explained Sylvia as a concept sufficiently. I know a lot of people are uncomfortable RPing with self-inserts, so I'm already very grateful for the people who are willing to RP with her, and who haven't dismissed her as cringe or disgusting. Believe me, I've tried to let her go years ago, but every time, it never worked. So I'm sort of stuck. But I think if I practice with Sylvia long enough, I could start writing other characters with their own silly nuances and overly specific habits too.

Lol...no. And the possibility of it (or anything like it happening in general) becomes grimmer every day. Listen, I'm probably about to POP OFF, but if you want to know how the internet is ruining rep in the industry, then give it a read. If not, godspeed. But you guys should know what you're doing every time you fuckos yet outraged about even the smallest bullshit.

The vast majority of straight actors are now passing on every queer role they get offered because they're terrified of being “canceled”. Apply the same thing to non-Jewish actors playing Jewish roles. Or this and that and that other identity. Y'all have turned this into a climate where people are not allowed to act anymore. The point of acting is inhabiting someone else's body and story, but y’all seemingly want things to go down to specific nationalities. "How dare this non-French person play a French character?!" That's where we're headed at this point.

You guys fail to fucking understand that, whether you like it or not, films and shows don't get made until they have recognizable talent attached. Even then, there are SO MANYYYYY projects with prime fucking packages that aren't selling right now. Series and movies with ensembles of A+ listers as stars and famous showrunners and directors that legit won't find a buyer. That's the market we're currently in.

How many famous, openly queer women do you know? I'm talking face and name recognition that would get a film or show easily made??? Little to none, right? There are VERY FEW (openly) queer actresses in the industry in general and even less so in that A/B Lister level that can actually get things funded and greenlit. What you guys have done is created a hostile fucking environment where actors don't want to take queer roles anymore and what happens if you can't find bankable talent to star in your movie or show??? IT DOESN'T GET FUCKING MADE. The project dies and never sees the light of day. So, as a result of your fake outrage machine, you will create LESS rep on screen instead or more.

I, for example, write projects that are intrinsically queer and from which you can't extricate the inherent queerness. That shit isn’t going anywhere because it’s in the DNA of the script. What do you think is going to happen/is happening when a show or a movie can't find an actor to play a queer character if the script doesn't entirely revolve around their queerness? The character will be rewritten and turned straight or cut out altogether. What do you think will happen when you're clamoring for XYZ ship to become canon on a show and one or both actors say "I'm not comfortable playing a queer character because I don't want to get canceled."??? It's not gonna happen. YOU guys are fucking representation over, not helping it.

It's a veryyyyyy real problem. I'm seeing producer friends trying to put films together right now going through it. No one they've sent scripts with queer characters this year to will touch them. And it's not homophobia. It's literally actors telling them directly "I won't play queer characters anymore because I'm afraid of the backlash." That's the culture you've created, one which will only affect us in the long run.

Hell, I know it first hand. We're trying to package one of my scripts right now and we've already had two prominent actresses pass. One was literally THIS WEEK. I met with her and she outright said to me - TO MY FACE - that she was scared of the internet's response. She said she didn't think "She could sit in press interviews and justify taking this role when it's not her story." She and I talked for an hour and about 20-25 minutes of that was she expressing how uncomfortable she was BECAUSE of the internet. I did my best to assuage her fears during the meeting and she still passed days later. Both she and her agent love the script, which is why she even took the meeting in the first place. But, at the end of the day, when she was weighing risks, she didn't think it was worth enraging the online mob and possibly getting vilely attacked over it.

Let me bring up a tangible example of how your outrage kills projects. Do you remember the biopic where Scarlett J. was supposed to play the lead as a trans man from the 1800s-1900s? Y'all grabbed your pitchforks and got her to back out of the project. Where is the movie now??? The film didn't get made, did it? Because without a name like Scarlett fronting it, that movie was never going to get made. Ignore Scarlett's past. Ignore her altogether for a second and pretend this was any other A-List actress. Let me ask you: would you rather have the actress play the role with genuine respect for the project/character and have a movie that could've put the life of an iconic trans man out there for people who needed to see it...or would you rather have it die and get fucking nothing? In one scenario, you potentially get a film with a major star that would've been watched by a large swath of the general population, could've touched on important queer issues, and probably have a slew of other queer performers in the film as supporting actors. It might have been imperfect rep by the internet's standards, but it would've still been exposure for potentially more than one group in the community. On the other side, you have the reality of what happened now: no big name, no movie, no story being told, no rep AT ALL. Think about what you prefer with your big girl and boy brains.

Truthfully, I don't know that Hailee would've signed up to do Dickinson in today's climate. Dickinson helped Ella figure out she was queer, but she was also a straight woman coming into it. Imagine what a loss that would've been. If they were casting Lexa in 2022 and told Alycia upfront that Lexa would be limp wristed, I doubt she would've taken it. Think about all the iconic queer ships of the last...ten years and ponder how many of them involve actual queer women. Now think about how most of them wouldn't happen with those actors that brought the stories to life because they're terrified of the vitriolic faux outrage mob. Would you rather a straight woman play a queer character, or would you rather have no queer character at all?

You can scream till you’re blue in the face about "WELL, THE INDUSTRY SHOULD CHANGE AND THEY SHOULD CAST UNKNOWNS TO PLAY THESE CHARACTERS". Sure sure, that's all fine and dandy in your fantasy land, but that’s not the real world. When you ask an investor/company/studio to put millions of dollars on the line, they want guarantees that they're getting their money back. You can only even remotely attempt that by putting faces people recognize on the screen. This isn’t a game and it isn't charity. They're not doing this shit out of the kindness of their hearts. These are real investments of cold hard cash that people are making and in their minds, the easiest way to ensure those investments is by having talent audiences are going to watch. Especially when their competition is your favorite thing in the world: Disney/Marvel and franchises. Fewer and fewer movies get made every year. Why? Because investors and studios would prefer to pour money into a "guaranteed" thing like a pile of hot garbage, 300 million dollar budget, superhero movie with a bankable name, over making ten 30 million dollar movies that they don't know if they're going to lose money on. Some actors still do things outside tentpoles, but who is left to play the queer roles if they're running from our stories BECAUSE OF YOU? Who is going to be the thing that attracts investors? No one. Then we get jack shit. And that, that is a problem of your own doing.

So when someone writes a really fucking fantastic project with...idk...a queer Jewish lead (or just something in the vein of CFAU) that you would've loved to watch/would've been wonderful for the community and no actor will touch it because you've made any type of diverging from one's specific identity a crime then you have no one to blame but yourself. You'll never know the project existed because you killed it and it didn't get made, but trust meeeeeeeeeee...y'all are killing outstanding projects every day with this shit.

LET.PEOPLE.ACT. That's the whole goddamn fucking point. As an actor, you're supposed to act like something other than yourself. You're supposed to embody and explore different experiences. If you can only play EXACTLY what you are, then what the fuck is the point. What are we even doing?

People were never an obstacle when it came to the things Shinsou wanted. He’s aware that others would do anything for him if he played his cards right. The right words with the right question did wonders for him. So why the fuck couldn’t he have what he wanted when it came to you? You drove him up the wall with the kindness you showed him. He didn’t deserve it and you’re existence almost felt like a punishment from whatever deity that existed out there to make him suffer. You guys were suppose to be studying for your upcoming project that required a poster, a slide show, and one influential person that would help prove your projects point. You left him running circles within his own mind as to how you were so willing to challenge him. He wanted you to obey him not see through his bullshit. It wasn’t like you didn’t listen to him vent, or didn't give him attention, but he wanted to hold you under his control. To be the person you listened to.

In class you where both seated on the extreme ends of the room on opposite sides. You never realized this (you do), but his head would periodically turn towards your direction to look at you, to figure you out (liar). This time, you managed to catch him do it.

“What are you doing?” You asked plainly. You honestly didn’t care that he was staring, everyone does when you dress like you're attending an MCR concert in the middle of autumn.

“You look different....today.”

“Nice.” It was difficult to care. Shinsou was just some guy in your class that you had to deal with. Nothing special really....ok, maybe it wasn’t fully true. You didn’t really know him all that well or anything (Unless it was mocking and belittling everything you did, that was normal behavior for him so it wasn’t surprising to find out he was like that outside of campus.) but he wasn’t all that bad? If he cared for himself a bit more, hygiene wise he would be considered handsome or at least a competent human being (you weren't going to call him a man, men don't act this childish. At least the ones you knew.) Maybe then you would take his opinion seriously, but for now you’ll ignore his...interesting comments he's been throwing towards you today.

“It’s rude to ignore someone when their talking to you, you know?” The neutral face he had now possessed a frown and a furrow to his brows. You still couldn’t process how he took the time to make sure his hair stayed purple but didn’t care for his body odor. (This man dyes his hair purple yet cant bother to shower or use deodorant for once in his life.)

“I’m not ignoring you, I’m just not interested in anything you have to say.” With that you get up and take your things and leave. There was no point in wasting time on someone who couldn’t even look at you directly and had to also sneak glances at you. "Do I really look that unbearable?" you thought to yourself. In the end you didn’t care anymore, everyone was entitled to an opinion and the last thing you need is feeling self conscious because of your out of place classmate.

Shinsou was fuming. How the fuck did you just get up and leave his ass while he was trying to complement you. You should have been more appreciative that he was giving you his attention for once. A bitch like you wasn't even worth it so he doesn't understand why he even tried with you.

He never goes directly home after school but instead to the local theater. It was one of the few places where he could be around others and could genuinely be himself. It was weird, he didn't feel like himself when he was speaking with his "friends", friends that he's never spoken to verbally, never seen, and never would meet. He knew that he didn't deserve this, to have a safe haven when he acts like an ass, yet here he was.

"Good morning Shinsou! How are you? Are you ready for rehearsals? You did remember to read your lines, right?" Shinsou rolls his eyes at his theater mates antics. Monoma never seems to stop but he does know when to tone it down and when it comes to Shinsou he tones it down a bit. (Because Monoma is canonically considerate of others, look back the Sports Festival and the Joint Training Arc.)

"Im good man, yes i did read and memorized the script, dont worry about it." What an odd friendship, the most chaotic gentleman like man out the bunch with the quietist incel in the group. Shinsou should have seen it coming when he was adopted by Monoma but he's running on 2 to 4 hours of sleep so he doesn't really care.

Believe it or not Shinsou does take showers (only for theater) but very quickly and with no care (no shampoo or soap, fucking why man.) Theater means more to him and so making his character look the best they possible can was his first and foremost priority. He puts on his costume, gets to makeup (the minimum, because it's "gay" for him to wear makeup and since the world is unfair and cruel he has perfect skin for a greasy headed asshole.)

"Everyone get a move on! Kodai, Tsuburaba, and Awase! Go to stage left! Light techs, how's it up there?" One of the tech heads shouted out. Shinsou and Monoma got to their positions on the stage and the rehearsals began.

Love, the play was about love. Love that wasn't rejected but also not accepted. He didn't understand the concept fully. Was it romantic? Platonic? Familiar? Admiration? He loved his dad, but he mostly admired him. He worked long hours and middle resents him for not being there for him, yet he realizes that his dad works to give him the world, a home with all the things he wanted. He never had a mother so he never had parental or familiar, again his dad was there but he wanted a parent that would hold him when he came back from school everyday. He didn't have a girlfriend, so he doesn't know romantic. So far all of his characters where villains, or evil in some way. He was starting to get sick of them. Shinsou wanted something more, wanted to play a character that wasn't how everyone saw him as on his day to day life. He wanted a challenge, he wanted....affection. Just to show it. He wanted attraction. Just to abuse it. He wanted...love. To just...maybe...feel...enjoy...understand it.

"You terrible thing you. My love, you're so cold. You've left me hanging on every one of your words. You've made me loose my self, lose my self-control because of you!" He pours everything into his performance, his loneliness, his regrets, his experience. He's been told by his co-performers and directors that he has a great future in the arts, in theater. If he just took care of himself more he would be an amazing actor, not only incredibly talented but also attractive. He would have the world kneeling, bowing to him just from his words alone. He could have anything he wanted just because of his existence.

" You've made me do things i don't want to do...for you." Kodai stands there looking horrified. He's covered in blood, the blood of her lover, the one she left him for.

"No, i-i didn't-"

"YOU MADE ME-MADE DO THIS FOR YOU! You terrible, terrible, terrible thing! You beautiful thing, I've done this for you!...and you still cant and won't love me." He doesn't see Kodai anymore. It's not her face he sees, nor her voice that he hears.

Its you...its your voice. You. You looking back at him while he slowly lowered himself to kneel and crawl towards you. It's you who backs away from him as he starts to cry and hiccup.

"You wreck me, you made me. You leave me in your wake, please let me go!" He sees you and feels you grabbing his wrists back, pushing him into himself.

"Don't you ever let me go...."

You terrible beautiful thing, you.

And here we are again. This was a lot fun to write since it feels more concrete when it comes towards his personality and his full thought process. In many cases people like Shinsou just want attention or some sense of validation, which there is nothing wrong with wanting those things but it's more about the manner you go about it. You shouldn't pressure or force others to spend time with you, but there is always someone out there that will like to give you those things.

when I started shipping it if I did: I remember the progression of feelings, but I was curious if I could figure out the actual calendar date through my archive. According to my quick sleuthing just now, the first reblog with their tag was on March 31st of 2017. I assume I added it to my blog after marathoning season two on Netflix. Based on other S2 reblogs right before that, I'd tentatively say the day I started shipping them probably falls in the March 15 - March 19th window.

Anyway, that curiosity aside, the actual flow of events was something like

1. Introduction of Valencia in 1.02 - She pings loudly as a repressed wlw on my radar but it's unclear when/how often she'll return. I make a mental note and put the headcanon on the back burner.

2. Introduction of Heather in 1.03 - I feel down to my bones this will be a wlw character because she immediately has the vibes. I specifically headcanon her as bisexual after 1.04. I continue to do so to this day and canon cannot stop me.

3. Valencia's repressed energy remains VERY strong every time she appears with Rebecca in S1 and during her post-breakup reintroduction in S2. It looks like she's going to stick around this time, so my headcanon shifts to a front burner and I wait.

4. Valencia sits down next to Heather. Heather declares, "I always knew I kinda liked you." I become convinced this was the show's master plan the whole time, a long game moving them into position to get to know each other -> become friends -> fall in love. The rest of S2 does absolutely nothing to change my mind.

5. They stage a coup and take over my life. I mean, they did very much warn me. In song, even. Coup d'état.

my thoughts: I enjoy the idea of many pairing possibilities within this series, but I'll always be convinced they're the best match for each other, and they'll always speak to me most out of all the ships from the show. Their actors' faces are in my icon more than two years after the finale because, even though I've found other ships from other media that I love deeply, these two are still at the center of my heart.

What makes me happy about them: So much. How quickly Valencia felt safe to ask Heather questions. The consistently judgement-free replies she received. The way Valencia trusted those answers even though none of them have ever had a girl friend group like this before in their lives. How often they used to stand or sit side-by-side. How instinctive that seemed for them despite not knowing each other for very long. The way Heather's blunt honesty, which she cited as a problem with other women she'd met, is actually one of the things Valencia likes best about her because then her real meaning doesn't require deciphering. The way Valencia's so-called basic-ness, which has been frequently met with ridicule/scorn particularly in S1, is the first thing Heather tells her is enjoyable about her personality (and she only ever tells her it's crossing a line when it's more harmful than good around the time of 3.06). I love recurring symbolism that surrounds them, times they've paralleled some of Rebecca's romantic beats, and how their wardrobes frequently feature matching or opposites-attract style elements. All of it brings me joy.

What makes me sad about them: The way a wedge was driven between them, and suddenly they had to almost always be accompanied by their significant others. It reached a point where it felt like we could get a brief appearance from one or the other in an episode, but very seldom both. Not only was Helencia content not the same after the introduction of those romances, but the *Gurl Group* wasn't the same after that. Scenes with just the friends doing something together were an all too rare treat.

things done in fanfic that annoys me: The subset of the fandom that ships them is comparatively small so, in my mind, it's like a cute little round table of us all sliding stories and art to each other. Everyone creates such fun and lovely work that I honestly can't think of any quibbles with how our girls appear in fic. Each piece gives me something interesting to take with me and think about even after I've read the last words.

things I look for in fanfic: Since my own writing for them thus far has been somewhat canon-adherent, I do enjoy finding a good AU every now and then. I also LIVE for all the little moments where a writer gets their voice and/or mannerisms just right. That’s when it clicks in my imagination extra vividly to where I feel like I'm watching it unfold on a screen instead of my mind's eye.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Rebecca or Audra would be my top alternate choices for Valencia. I don't have selections I feel as strongly about for Heather. I'm pretty sure Maya's the only long-term member of the ensemble I'd consider as a possibility. Who knows? Maybe an outlier would surprise me. A mischievous little voice in the back of my mind is whispering, "Trina," so I'll humor it and name her as my second, just for kicks.

My happily ever after for them: They technically have a residence of their own but are still over at Rebecca's place a lot, a minimum of once a week for a Gurl Group hangout. Valencia doesn't completely disappear from social media, but it stops being an arbiter of her self-worth; the side account she creates for pictures of their two cats is more active on average than her main, the latter of which she predominantly uses to signal boost events and uplift causes. Heather has some job linked to marine biology. I really like the idea of her getting to teach in some way (I've written in the past about her looking into becoming a professor), but I'm still kind of finalizing how I want all that to play out on the page. I also feel like they travel together when financially possible. Valencia takes *at least* one picture of Heather leading her by the hand like this everywhere they go:

who is the big spoon/little spoon: That depends. 

I feel like Heather is Big Spoon to V's Little Spoon when Valencia is stressed about an event she's planning or some family drama. Regardless of the fact that the lights are out, and without so much as a word from Valencia to indicate that she's not sleeping, Heather seems to know that she is wide awake and worried. A little of the tension leaves Valencia's shoulders as soon as Heather's arm tugs her closer and they're curved against each other. Sometimes they talk out whatever's nagging at her mind, and sometimes Heather simply gives her one wise reassurance that cuts through the what-ifs like magic. Either way, they fall asleep in that position and the situation looks at least a little better in the morning. 

Valencia is Big Spoon to Heather's Little Spoon on nights before and after Heather's achievement milestones as an unspoken, 'You're amazing; the work you did is amazing, and I'm proud I get to be your partner through life.' Mr. and Mrs. Davis went from expecting Heather to never complete stuff and insisting it was okay to making too big of a deal the times that she did accomplish anything. Now, verbal effusiveness over what she's doing with her adulthood tends to remind her of them. It means a lot to have Valencia there to privately celebrate with her, knowing just what to convey in the silence. Heather can feel more than just pride behind those snug embraces in the dark; it's belief. Valencia would pick her up if she fell, of course, but she's never waiting for her to fail. The woman she loves doesn't consider her confined to any box, any one definition of self, and some days that really makes all the difference.

what is their favorite non-sexual activity: Beach days are a really nice chance for them both to unwind. Heather carefully points out interesting creatures in tide pools. Valencia gets in a bit of meditation when Heather surfs or swims. They share a large umbrella and massive beach blanket while Heather reads and Valencia journals. Schedule permitting, sometimes they’ll even stay long enough to scan for stars over the ocean after nightfall. They sit in the open trunk of the car, feet tapping against each other and fingers interwoven. Valencia listens to the explanations for how stars and constellations got their names, and quietly admires Heather in the moonlight.

Going in blind: Watching season 3 for the first time. Random thoughts.

Episode 1: I know in the original series She-Ra was the sister of He-Man so I'm curious how much of that will be carried over to this series. Not saying He-Man has to make an appearance, same as how Batman didn't need to show up in Teen Titans. That was Robin's story, not his, and similarly this is Adora's story, not Adam's. Regardless, it makes sense why Hordak was so annoyed with the baby Adora in Shadow Weaver's flashbacks. To SW, there was something different and special about the baby, but to Hordak, whom seems familiar with the world before Mara separated Etheria from the rest of the universe, including Eternia potentially, Adora is just another "First One" child like he's seen many times before. Special in comparison to those who only know Etheria.

Great clap-back from Catra to Hordak, and not entirely unfounded. It's debatable how much he actually cares about conquering Etheria. He has others leading his forces in his war yet all his focus is on his portal creation.

According to Entrapta, productivity of the Horde is up 400% ever since Catra became Hordak's 2nd in command. I wondering how much of that is Catra's direct doing? Is she genuinely just that good of a commander? Is it because she's properly delegating and Scorpia has been handling most of the load? Or is this just because it's in comparison to Shadow Weaver? Entrapta said Catra's focus on First Ones' tech has been greatly aiding them and SW definitely focused more on magic, which was an aid mostly to herself since everyone else in the Horde seems to fight only with weapons and technology. And most of what she saw of SW while she was Hordak's 2nd was her being obsessed with bringing back Adora rather than fighting the war.

Episode 2: Let's see... Hordak's easily an adult and Entrapta is...[checks google] late twenties, early thirties. Oh good, then let's sail this ship!

But yeah, that was a heck of a backstory for Hordak. This reminds me of a video by a Youtuber named Savage Books comparing the villain Steppenwolf in the theatrical and Snyder Cut versions of Justice League and how, while he still wasn't a great villain, just a small addition made him a much better villain, that being a failure in his past and the desire just to go home. And in this case, Hordak is the much better, or at least way more developed, version of that. One of many clones of Hordak Prime but having a defect that labelled him a failure and had him cast out to Etheria, a "backwards world" as he's called it before. If he can conquer Etheria, perhaps by building a portal that'll bring forward Prime's army, he believes that'll prove to Prime that he is not a failure and that he can return home to rejoin his forces. Just this bit of backstory adds SO MUCH to Hordak, including new insights on his past interactions, and keeps him from being a flat character like theatrical version Steppenwolf. His lack of tolerance for failure makes sense when he himself is trying to prove that he's not. It gives him compelling motivation to want to conquer Etheria beyond just power and greed. Not motivation you're meant to agree with but one you can still understand.

I like the story with Huntara too. It's a nice little tie-in to something Adora was talking about with Glimmer and Bow last episode. Adora defected from the horde, not because she was different but rather very much in spite being very much like every other soldier there. She wanted to believe Shadow Weaver may have at least some goodness in her too and now we have Huntara as a fellow defector who realized the evils of the Horde, even if she chose to stay out of the war entirely after.

Episode 3: I legit thought Catra stabbed the goat lady for a second.

After Scorpia asking her why don't they just stay in the wastes I'm seeing a bit of a parallel between Catra and Hordak. They've both found a place where they can be the top dog, where they can do and have basically anything they want; her with the wastes and him with the Horde. They can be happy. ...But there's still this pull they're feeling to somewhere else. Catra back to the Horde and Hordak back to Prime. Because they feel they have to prove something; prove that they're not failures. They could be happy but they can't let go.

And that scene between Adora and Catra at the end. That was such a great line read from Catra's actor. "She left me for you. Everything that's happened is because of you." I got chills.

Minor note: While I'm only judging off the Mara hologram, which didn't have color, I do think the She-Ra outfit looks better with pants than shorts like Adora's She-Ra form. I think it makes it look sleeker, if that makes any sense.

Episode 4: Catra's spiral has turned into a drill and its taking her down as far as she can go. Though something I had to a laugh a little at myself over was that my biggest "Catra, no!" reaction wasn't to her wanting to open the portal but rather when she lied to Hordak and said Entrapta let the princesses in. She was actually a positive influence on Hordak's life and Catra with one move just destroyed that relationship and all progress Hordak had been making.

I'm guessing there's going to be some kind of long-term effect from Shadow Weaver continuously siphoning off Glimmer's magic. The woman is basically a parasite and the magic she uses is very different from the kind Glimmer does. I can't believe it never occurred to me that since Shadow Weaver trained Glimmer's father there might be a connection there between the two of them later in the story. While we don't know about anything that might've happened after she left, SW clearly had enough affection for Micah still to not kill him. I could see her trying to take Glimmer on as a student later like she did him.

Episode 5: There is something kind of hilarious about it being Scorpia's jealousy of Catra and Adora's closeness that causes her to be the first one after Adora to pick up that something is off.

11 is my favorite of the Doctor Who Doctors so naturally I'm comparing all this to the crack in Amy Pond's bedroom wall. Whatever goes in gets forgotten about and basically never existed. Though does that mean Bright Moon isn't going to remember the Horde? Basically that entire place got sucked up in the collapsing reality. There shouldn't be at war anymore because their enemy literally no longer exists.

Adora and Catra had their own little Star Trek 3 moment there.

Adora: "If we don't help each other, we'll die here!"

Catra: "Perfect! Then that's the way it shall be!"

Catra's just so far down her spiral she doesn't even care about getting her own win, just so long as Adora doesn't get one, despite just minutes ago clearly loving having Adora back in her life and on her side, to the point was trying to resist remembering the old reality. Her "perfect" world was them together again but when given the chance (another of many. I love those cuts to their past woven in there) she slapped the hand away.

I'm sure I'm wrong but I'm starting to theorize Madam Razz is actually Mara and just at some point went kind of crazy and started thinking as and Mara were two different people.

Episode 6:

"You are everything I ever wanted in a son. This... This is everything I ever wanted in a life. ...But I've got responsibilities, Van. And...I have to...go now."

That was my favorite episode of JLU, where Superman is trapped in this world that isn't real but still perfect in every way, and the only way out was to give up everything he'd ever wanted, including a son he remembers watching grow up, even if it never really happened. With a similar premise, this definitely helped elevate Angela up a bit for me, whom I was kind just meh with before. I didn't dislike her but I didn't really care much for her either. This episode gave her a lot to work with though, with the heavy sacrifice she made. Not just saying behind to pull out the sword but just simply forcing herself to accept her husband is gone and not coming back. I was right that they wouldn't remember the Horde, but I definitely didn't think of the full effects of them never existing. They never exist, Bow never becomes a rebel instead of a scholar like his dads wanted. They don't exist, Micah never dies in battle against them. Glimmer gets to grow up with her father in her life. Everyone, most especially Angela, has to reject everything they would love to be real in favor of what actually is.

I'm guessing we're going to have Shadow Weaver taking advantage of this situation, trying to act like a teacher and mother-figure to Glimmer now that she's basically a orphan.

I talked before about how Catra and Hordak seem to have a parallel between them, especially regarding failure. Catra seems like she has a very hard time accepting her own failures and mistakes and thus why she more or less uses Adora as a mental scapegoat for all of it. Nothing is ever really her fault, it's Adora's, or Shadow Weaver's, or Hordak's. It makes for a great moment when Adora finally punches back, both literally and figuratively. She's not going to accept responsibility for Catra's actions anymore. She gave Catra every chance to make the right choice and she didn't, so now she has to finally live with the consequences. Heck of a glare She-Ra gave Catra at the end. Very much a "If I ever see you again..." and it certainly scared Catra, at least for a moment.

Now, someone go save Entrapta from Beast Island!

Season 3 verdict: Easily the best season thus far. I know this was technically the second half of season 2 but even in comparison to the full season 1 there was just so much that happened in this, so much that got revealed, and so, so many moments of emotion or tension. Weirdly I feel kind of disappointed that Hordak Prime is probably going to come in now and be the new big villain. I really like our Hordak's motivation and Prime seems like he might just be the generic conqueror for power that Hordak seemed like he was going to be at first. Not saying those types can't work. I love All For One from My Hero Academia and Frieza from Dragon Ball. Those guys are pure evil and selfishness, but they also have a captivating presence/charisma to them.

Naturally, since I bring her up the most out of all the characters, I'm very curious to see what happens with Catra now. She's basically nuked every positive relationship she had with anyone. Entrapta's gone, she threatened Scorpia, Hordak's not going to trust anyone including her anymore now that he thinks Entrapta's betrayed him, and Adora firmly sees her as an enemy. She has no one (those under her direct command don't count) and it's entirely her own fault.

Sotus: The Series

(The Beginning of Arthit and Kongpob)

This series was the third BL story that I watched after TharnType. The friend who recommended this to me said that this is by far his most favorite BL series ever. And judging by the ratings of SOTUS online, I thought I should go ahead and give this one a try.

SOTUS revolves around the story of Kongpob (Singto Prachaya) an Engineering student who bravely stood up against his seniors and the university hazing tradition. Although the major plot of the story is about the protagonist's university life, the blossoming romance between him and his senior, Arthit (Krist Perawat) made the story more interesting.

When I started watching the first 2 episodes, I read from some of the comments online that the hazing being portrayed on the series was too much to handle. But, if I were to compare it from my personal experience, SOTUS' hazing scenes were a lot lighter and ideal. Hahahaha.

Characters.

Unlike other BL dramas that focuses on vilifying women, SOTUS gave their female characters the absolute recognition they deserve. All of the women in this series are side characters, but with unique stories of their own. One of the best examples that I could think of is Prae. Even though she's the campus star, Prae is a woman that loves a woman as well. It is refreshing to watch that women weren't depicted as the antagonist in the drama.

The Lesson of SOTUS

Sotus is an acronym that means Seniority, Order, Tradition, Unity, and Spirit. Even though other viewers think that the scenes were far fetched and over the top, every activity given by the hazers has a lesson to impart amongst their junior. For instance, when Kongpob volunteered to do a certain task in behalf of his fellow freshmen, Arthit declined his request. Soon enough, he explained to Kongpob that the reason behind this was he doesn't want his colleagues to be dependent on him and not learn how to obey orders themselves. Yes, the SOTUS system has its own strengths and weaknesses. But, if there is trust and respect between the seniors and juniors, it is possible that everything will turn out fine.

Friendship and Side characters.

Another thing that I like about this series was how it depicted a tight knit kind of friendship between the leads and the side characters. They show how the closeness of one another can help them face the hardships of initiation and college life. In SOTUS, every side character has their own unique persona that helped them stand out in the series. The side characters were not present in the series just to create a certain vibe between the leads. Instead, they were equally shown to tell a story of their own. The side characters also experienced falling in love, getting rejected, and starting over again.

Slow Process

The series is not forcing the lead characters to provide all out fan service just to fulfill their viewers desire. They take everything slow with consideration for the lead characters' growth. Both Arthit and Kongpob are straight guys who are new to queer relationship. In process of them falling in love with each other, you will notice the stages of denial and rejection. Kongpob's character was brave enough to confront his feelings and confessed to Arthit. On the other hand, Arthit showed signs of fear. Queer relationships are often misunderstood by the society and he worries about what others would think of him if he engaged in one. The last time he fell in love was with his best friend who is a woman. Arthit was scared because he was both confused and uncertain. Luckily, he has friends like Knot and P'Tum that helped him figure out what his heart wants.

Love Language.

I love how innocent Arthit is when receiving banters from Kongpob. His fierce persona will suddenly shift into a cute blushing boyfriend. Also, one thing that I appreciated in this series is that they don't need a meticulously planned bed scene to show their love for each other. There were only 2 instances where the lead actors actually kissed and it was executed properly. Those scenes became magical and it made me feel all sorts of things. SOTUS showed us that the leads' mere eye contact, hand touching, and sweet exchange of dialogues can already make up for the missing bed scenes.

The Gear

This cute tiny object made a huge impact on the story. Since love is intangible, the gear gave us a clear visual of how affection is being given out and accepted by each of the leads.

No BL fans should ever miss out SOTUS. I am glad that my friend recommended it to me. This will go straight to my BL top 10.
