something i would like people to note is the difference between piracy and plagiarism.

plagiarism is taking someone elses work and claiming it as your own, often to make money off it.

piracy is illegally stealing something, without making or spending money. every single pirated copy of anything that ive ever had still credits the creators correctly. books still say who the author is and shows and movies still include the end credits.

people plagiarize because they are assholes.

people pirate because they are too poor to afford all these expensive streaming services, because such services can take media away at any time (piracy is a great way to make sure media does not become lost, google The Mysterious Benedict Society), or because the company that made it is awful and dont deserve money (disney, bbc, netflix, amazon).

both are legally stealing, but law and morality are not the same thing. piracy and plagiarism are very different, and should be treated as such.

In 2024, I saw people online celebrating my middle school and high school art while wishing me well due to my disappearance. I'm happy to say that I am well after a rough post-Covid era and a lot of growing up. During Covid's reign, I had purged the internet of what I viewed as carbon footprints, yet people have kept the light alive in some dust clouds.

I am eternally grateful to you all for retaining such light. As the blooming adult I am now, I've learned to view everything with balance -- including the broken person I was -- and there are lovely works that I dearly miss as a result. Those works are the "darlings" from my young life. I now have a question for the audience who may recognize me:

It doesn’t even matter if I particularly cared for a show I’ll always be devastated for the fans of any show that gets cancelled. I understand that there’s financial reasons as to why a show may not be allowed to continue but at this point streaming platforms need to be asking themselves why is it that they’re cancelling all these shows? If they want a hit show it has to be given time to grow and develop its audience. And then regardless of that fact, people who have invested their time in a story deserve to see its completion. It’s so undeniably evil for corporations to continue to axe shows without warning not just for the fans of the show, but for everyone involved as well. The emotion and heart put into these pieces of media is always so visible and it’s soul crushing watching an industry throw it away. Fans and creatives deserve to see stories told with a complete arc because otherwise why are we bothering with these streaming platforms?
