for the ask game: dickjay in reincarnated character + immortal au pls!!
hi waffle!! you literally gave me an au i've never thought about writing in my entire life lmaoooo
so *cracks knuckles* let's get into itttttttt
Dick is the immortal of the two. But like, not in a very voluntary way? For this AU, I would imagine Dick is the original Talon for the Court in the 1600s. Obviously his body would deteriorate over time or just be too butchered in fights to be salvageable, so they stick him on ice and switch his “mind and soul” over to another (a blood relative and maybe later on clones when the technology is established, but he always refers to himself as Dick or Talon). We’ll say the Court can do this via magical god shenanigans. Jason is the reincarnation. So, every third generation the Gunn family somehow gives birth to a boy (aka Jason) but otherwise only have girls. (Short note: we’re going to make Catherine the Gunn relative instead of Willis for this AU).
Jason and Dick grew up together, either same age or close in age. Played together as kids, caused trouble together as teenagers, and fell in love as young adults. And then Dick disappears, forcibly becoming the court’s Talon because it’s his “familial duty.” Jason tears Gotham apart looking for his lost love, uncovering corruption and capturing criminals in the process of digging up evidence of the Court, and he becomes somewhat of a folk hero as time passes.
Unfortunately, the Court knows Dick is too attached to Jason and Jason’s on a mission, he won’t stop until he finds Dick and stops them. Not sure how we’d get to the next point but basically, Dick is forced to kill Jason for the Court and Jason vows on his dying breath he’ll free Dick from them because Dick was the only one who cared about Jason, who loved Jason despite his flaws and his bad blood. I imagine the Court had captured Jason and brought him to their secret lair or wherever they keep their god, and because Jason made that vow with his last breath, his blood and Dick's tears staining the stone entombing a god, an entity of magic and promises, it gave Jason (and Dick's unspoken hope) his wish. But with a twist.
Henceforth, every three generations the Gunn family has a son. A son who is almost always baptized as Jason. The Court tries often to kill him as a child, especially once they realize Jason as an adult always digs his claws into the Court and tries to drag them into the light. What the Court doesn’t realize, is that Jason only reincarnates if Dick, if Talon, kills him. This could go either way: only Jason knows Dick has to kill him to be reincarnated and try again, and has to orchestrate his plans and strategies around either winning or having Dick kill him OR only Dick knows and he has to make sure the Court sends him to kill Jason, knowing Jason will only come back if Dick’s the one who does the deed, Dick who can never truly help the man he loves free him from the Court.
The Court often gets what they want over the centuries, however, and Jason dies before he can truly stop them or save Dick. Over and over again, throughout the centuries and the bodies, Dick kills Jason and Jason comes back to save him. I think eventually it would end when Jason is adopted by Bruce Wayne aka Batman and together (maybe alongside Commish and a Batgirl), Jason is finally able to stop the Court and save Dick. And Jason and Dick can finally live, love, and grow old together :)

Actually going insane over the implications of Jason asking Dick to be the Robin to his Batman in Battle for the Cowl.
Like I initially took it at the purely surface-level of Jason wanting a partner in the general sense. Which made sense, it's a huge responsibility and a lonely one so an assistant/sidekick/partner seems a no-brainer if you can get one.
But then I really thought about it, because Jason is not asking Dick to be his partner in the general sense; he's not even asking Dick to be his Nightwing. He's asking Dick to be his Robin.
And they both know exactly what Jason means: "Be the light to my darkness. Be the smile to my scowl. Be the hope to my fear. "
He's saying "Be 'Robin'; be the embodiment of Love and Justice and Goodness. Be the exceptional person that you have always been. Be the slightly-less exceptional person that I was when I wore your colors. Be the person that I was in the process of becoming and might have been (or might still be), if only Joker hadn't clipped my wings."
He's saying "I am prepared to become vengeance, become the Night. And I will go further than Bruce ever dared to, because it is what is needed. I will be the necessary evil. But you don't have to be. If Batman is Gotham's curse, Robin has always been its blessing. I will be the brutal punishment to our world, and I am asking you to be its incandescent gift."
He's saying, "Be for me, what we were for Him. Be my anchor, my comfort, my hope. Remind me what it's all for, why it's all worth it. And remind yourself as well."
He's saying "Be 'Robin' again--for both of our sakes."

Just more amnesiac Jason working for Bruce and unknowingly taking care of his son and being kinda weirded out by his clingy, awkward boss who sometimes gets teary-eyed when looking at him
Based on this post.
Before Jason was taken from them, his boy's life was lonely.
It's something Bruce only recognizes as he's sat on an adjacent rooftop stalking watching over Jason and Jason's charge and something about that details wounds him in an egregious and damning way
Because Bruce has to tell everyone the news; they need to bring Jason home to them again and back into their lives
Only...there's so few people. Bruce doesn't even need a full hand to count them. Alfred, Dick. Because Jason - he didn't have anyone else.
No team to rely on, no friends for support. Only the small family Jason found for himself at the manor and even then...
Bruce overwhelmed by everything: the reveal that Jason is alive, the mystery of his son's revival, the realizations about the life that was lost and this new life Jason is building for himself and how Bruce can't let his boy go again
Of course Bruce has to tell Alfred first. As much as Bruce wants to keep Jason to himself for a while longer, he can't keep the boy from Alfred again. Not after Bruce failed to bring Jason home all those years ago.
Alfred chauffeurs Bruce to work and follows Bruce to his office to see for himself that very next day (and it becomes routine no matter how embarrassing it is for Bruce, grown man that he is, to be seemingly escorted through his company, but he allows it. Always. He could never keep Jason from Alfred in any capacity ever again and this -- this is all they can manage for now).
A part of Bruce being scared to share this reality with Alfred because while Bruce is confident that it's their boy, the world and universe can be so cruel. There are a million what-ifs that run through Bruce's head and they all end in, 'what if he's taken from us again?'
Bruce isn't sure he could survive it. He knows Alfred wouldn't.
But he tells Alfred anyway and Alfred sees for himself and Alfred knows it in his heart and soul - their boy.
Alfred maintains his composure endlessly better than Bruce had before and even right then (staring, marveling, mourning and celebrating all at once; all reverence and tenderness and love), but Bruce still sees the small tells of how Alfred breaks and comes together; composed but so soft as he reintroduces himself to Jason
Not as a grandfather to a son (not quiet, not yet), but as a butler to a secretary
And just like before, like nothing changed at all - like there hasn't been a lifetime lost between them - Alfred and Jason pick up right where they left off
Their meetings together are fleeting. Without raising suspicion, they chat for a brief period in the morning and occasionally when Bruce can convince Jason to let them drive him home
The companionship between Alfred and Jason flourishes with teasing at Bruce's expense, but Bruce basks in every moment of it because these two people so dear to him come alive (hah) in such a bright and delightful and warm way.
They talk like they used to - about the arts and long-running dramas. Book recommendations (new, old - because Jason's memories are scattered even with things like that) and shared recipes (of Jason's favorites) and talk of home management (best laundering practices and ideal cleaning solutions etc etc).
And Jason asks after Bruce - likes, dislikes, bad habits to be aware of ;) and promises not to work him too hard
Sometimes he'll look over at Bruce. Jason will see Bruce watching him, sometimes endeared and other times distraught. He'll offer slight smiles before returning to Alfred before the conversation comes to a close until the next time.
Anyway, Jason thrives in his new position as Bruce's assistant. Admittedly Bruce is on his best behavior, always within eye and earshot of Jason (because that means Bruce can see Jason, too; can hear him).
Hm. Nevermind, Bruce being readily available but not necessarily on his best behavior. Because more than working he just wants to spend time with his boy. So he's often slacking off and trying to get Jason to slack off with him. Meetings? Cancel them. They can go to lunch. Or on a walk. There's a gym downstairs, they can --
Jason being an expert in getting Bruce to be productive. In getting him to focus. In that same vein, being the only person within the company that can draw Bruce's attention away from whatever project has his attention. The only one that has any success in drawing the tension from Bruce's shoulders and getting him to rest or eat or breathe.
It's partly because it's Jason, partly because even after death - Jason has all the makings of Robin. Bruce is easy to keep in check. Especially if Jason stays close.
But yes, productivity dies the moment there's a lull in the day and then it's back to Bruce wanting to hang out which...are all the gossip magazines misguided? Is Bruce actually a really lonely guy? Wanting to spend so much time with his secretary is strange, isn't it? Since Jason starts working with the company, he hasn't seen Bruce go out on the town once. No salacious work hook-ups, no parking garage shenanigans like people are always on about.
HR loves Jason for keeping Bruce out of trouble, though rumors are bound to pop up about Jason at some point 👀
But that's a thought for another time (because more and more I want to write little snippets for this). For now, the next in line to interact with Jason: Tim.
Does it fit in the timeline? Don't know, don't particularly care.
Tim still running the company despite Bruce being present and accounted for is such a good thought
Bruce delegating all the tasks so that he has that much more time to spend with Jason
Tim doing the absolute most during this time between managing the company and covertly DNA testing Jason and looking into the kid Jason is looking after etc etc etc
Anyway, Tim is busy.
And Jason stays out of his way because Tim is clearly important and on a mission with no time to waste
But the kid does a lot and is running himself ragged so Jason just...helps a bit? Jason is exclusively Bruce's assistant, but Tim is doing a lot of Bruce's work so...?
Jason being MIA one day and Bruce storming the company because where is he
And Jason is with Tim helping to sort papers for a meeting and chiding at Tim to eat before he makes himself sick, ffs
And Bruce might be taken out at the knees to see his two boys interacting in this way. With Jason caring for Tim and Tim being a little shy and flustered because while Jason doesn't know who the fuck Tim is, Tim is very aware that this is Robin
Yeah. Just Jason occasionally acting as Tim's assistant and Bruce is both endeared and petty about it.
And then there's Dick. Who is of course the last to know because no one tells him anything. Again. It slips one day because Dick calls Bruce and Jason answers his phone and Dick just - he recognizes Jason's voice in an instant. But doubts himself because he's had a history with hallucinating Jason before.
So Dick feels so unsteady, almost sick. But he breathes through the panic the familiarity that voice brings. Because it's safe, he falls back on his own charms. Only that backfires because fuck, when he makes this person laugh - it takes Dick apart, wrecks him and leaves him stepping off whatever path he's on to rest his weight against whatever surface he can find. Chest tight, grief coming back so aggressively and what the hell.
Dick being a glutton for punishment, needs to meet this person. So he goes to Wayne Enterprises under the guise of meeting his dad and brother for a surprise lunch.
And that's when he meets Jason. At Jason's desk just outside Bruce's office. Not paying any heed to how Bruce watches them through the glass panes separating them because -- it's Jason. His little wing. His Robin.
Shock and confusion and hope - a fleeting look to a panicked Bruce (who has the decency to look guilty; Dick will deal with that later), but he nods and Dick breathes through how blindsided and wrecked this leaves him. He picks up on the amnesia, but it doesn't matter. Jason is okay.
And Dick is a showman, so he plays it cool regardless of how his heart races and how he wants to break with grief and relief at the sight of Jason -- healthy and breathing and warm and alive. But he doesn't break. Dick smiles instead. A genuine and crooked thing that's charming for how tentative it is.
And Bruce sees it the moment it happens - the immediate flush of color that washes over Jason's cheeks as Jason flusters
Love at first sight, Jason must think, but Bruce knows better: a persistently undying crush
Some things never change

Yes I would like to vote. Yes I did vote yes. And yes I am incredibly bitter about the amount of people in the tags and comments saying Babs and Steph aren't really BatFam members.
Like one, the fans at large didn't fight fucking hard to get Babs and Steph as officially recognized as BatFam members.
And two, Jim and Bruce are friends there's no way that baby Babs didn't call Bruce Uncle at least once. Dick//Babs is a Cousin Ship and I will die on that hill.

Flowers For My Love
One of my Dick /Jason wips. This one just won't get out of my head recently.
It's a soulmate hanahaki fic. 🌸
Check tags for possible tw / cw
Dick has known since Jason was Robin that they are soulmates. Jason didn't know because, at that time, he was too young for the bond to wake on his end, and Dick didn't tell anyone because he didn't want anyone or anything to influence Jason.
He's still a kid and he deserves to explore who he is and what he likes and have his own experiences like Dick did. He should make friends and date whoever he wants and not feel guilty for it. He refuses to take that from him.
So Dick balances his time with Jason very carefully. He makes sure that he isn't around too much. He's absent more than present but when he is around he makes sure that they spend some quality time together and have fun.
It doesn't matter if that's just sitting in the library talking about what book Jason is reading, playing a game or watching a movie together, going out, or even patrolling together. Sometimes Jason comes and stays with him at Bludhaven. Dick shows him his city and takes him train surfing.
It really is a balancing act for Dick. He doesn't want to woo Jason and doesn't want Jason to slot him into the brother role either. His plan is to be a fond yet distant presence in Jason's life until he is old enough to decide what he wants Dick as without Dick having influenced his decision. It's the only thing that seems right at this point.
He wants Jason to grow up with the same freedom he had and to decide what he wants them to be when he is old enough.
Then Jason dies and all Dick can do for years is mourn all the lost time and the future they didn't get to have together.
After Jason comes back and has really started to settle from the pit madness, Dick tries to tell Jason that they are soulmates. He had tried waiting for the "perfect time" to tell him before, and Jason had died. Dick isn't going to make that mistake again.
This time he has rushed it too much.
The remaining effects/magic from the Lazarus pit are still blocking Jason's side of the bond from waking, and without that connection Jason doesn't believe him. The pit rage surges with a fury. Jason thinks Dick is lying to him, trying to manipulate him and Jason is deeply hurt and feels so betrayed. Dick knows how much having a soulmate means to him, and the belief that Dick would use that is crushing.
Dick coughs up his first petals that night.
He doesn't have hanahaki yet. This is a precursor, a warning. There are no ill effects, just the occasional petals. Jason didn't reject him. He just didn't believe Dick.
But things get worse.
Jason is furious. He avoids Dick and, by extension, the rest of the Bats. Everyone is confused by this sudden change. and not so secretly blaming Bruce. Dick is desperate and scared. He just wants to talk with Jason. When he does, it turns into a huge blow-up that becomes incredibly vicious and cruel. In the end, Jason leaves Gotham. Dick leaves the fight heartbroken and not only with hanahaki but the aggressive variant that can kill in a few short months.
Bruce finds out about the hanahaki first, but even he doesn't figure it out until it has already reached the point that it's dangerously critical. He has to hospitalize Dick in the cave and within just a few days Dick requires extensive medical assistance to survive.
Bruce has had the surgery for hanahaki and they have a conversation that turns into a fight. Bruce is demanding that Dick get the surgery and Dick adamantly refuses.
Bruce has the same problem that everyone who has the surgery has. He can't feel love or any of the connected emotions such as compassion, affection, fondness, or tenderness. He can, however, still feel off shades of happiness or pride, a detached sense of pleased, satisfaction, or contentment. He can feel frightened, angry, and responsible.
He can feel deeply possessive.
Bruce can feel all of his negative emotions just fine but the good ones are so much harder to get to now and they aren't as full and complete. But those few bright and beautiful moments in his life are all connected to his family and he can still vaguely remember what it felt like to love his son.
So, he logics it all out in his head that Dick is emotionally compromised and can't be trusted to make this decision. That he knows better than anyone that after the surgery, Dick will be okay and even thank him for this. Dick doesn't need love like he believes. He can use logic and the code to navigate life like he does.
Bruce sets up the surgery for Dick.
He uses Dick's trust in him to drug him and take him in for it.
The hospital staff doesn't account for a Bat's tolerance, and Dick wakes up while they are still preparing him. Dick absolutely freaks out. He tells them he hasn't consented to the surgery. That he doesn’t want it. The staff already knows. Bruce has already taken care of that. Dick tries begging. He's crying and pleading with them.
"Please, don't do this to me." They just put him under. "You'll destroy me."
Dick goes under but never really comes back up.
He is not okay. Bruce thought Dick could live on cold logic and reason. He thought that Dick followed his code because he believed in it. Bruce believed that he was doing what was best for Dick and that when Dick woke up, he would see that.
Bruce was wrong.
There are a few reasons it is so extremely illegal to force someone into this surgery. One of those reasons is because the state of mind they are in has an enormous impact on how they come out of the surgery. Things like depression, suicide rate, or probability to turn violent are deeply affected by there mental state before their surgery. Patients are supposed to have as much therapy as they can manage beforehand. Then afterwards they need a strong and dedicated support team for the rest of their lives.
Another reason is that because without love or compassion it's nearly impossible to forgive.
Dick wakes up with a screaming void ripped into him. It radiates a cold so severe it burns his soul. Dick is furious. Bruce has betrayed him. Bruce has ruined him. He has literally torn apart his soul and stolen all of Dick's love, extinguishing any hope he had left with it.
Now there isn't anything to stop Dick from pouring his fury and pain out onto Bruce and all of Gotham. If Gotham thought it had seen the worst a Bat could do under the Red Hood's fury. Then it hasn't seen anything yet.
Because Nightwing no longer has any mercy left to give.
The streets of Gotham will run red with his wrath and pain.
Meanwhile, space and time to think is exactly what Jason needed to get his head on straight again. He is doing much better when word of Dicks condition reaches him. When Jason hears that Dick has hanahaki, he rushes home to find Dick.
He's two days too late.
If Bruce would have waited just two more days.
When Jason does find him, Dick is standing in the middle of a warehouse turned bloodbath. They talk, and Dick tells him precisely what happened and about just how broken he feels now. He spares no detail, but neither does he embellish anything.
Jason clutches Dick as tight against himself as he can. Like, if he holds Dick close enough, he can merge his heart with Dick's. As if their broken pieces can heal together and make something whole and new.
"I love you, I have always loved you," Jason breathes the words against Dick's skin like an apology from deep within his soul meant to reach the same depth within Dick's.
"I loved you once," Dick murmurs back. "I meant to love you always."
Jason coughs up his first petals.
Jason's hanahaki is the excruciatingly slow variant. Dick didn't reject him, the exact opposite in fact. However, now, by no choice of his own, Dick is unable to love Jason.
Jason feels crushingly guilty for what happened to Dick. The way he sees it, if he would have just trusted Dick or at least not ran away then this would have never happened to him. It makes Jason cling to Dick all the tighter.
"I don't want to lose you again, please, will you let me stay with you." For a long moment Dick just stares at him. His expression having never been more impossible to read before.
"I don't think I want to be alone," Dick answers after a painfully long silence.
Dick is set hard core on his revenge path against Bruce and this is something that Jason understands in spades. The thing is that Dick is really unstable right now. Just like Bruce, he's unable to feel any kind of love anymore and that includes all the adjacent emotions to it as well. Dick remembers feeling the full range of emotions. He remembers fond affection, passionate love, warm compassion and just being able to care. He remembers what it felt like to love his family and remembering hurts.
So instead, he burns with his anger, betrayal, hate, and pain. It's an icy fury that can't be banked and knows no end.
He's hurting and he doesn't know how to stop anymore. Not when the anger is the only thing keeping him going.
This leaves Jason as the voice of reason and as the one who has to throw the brakes on when things start to go too far. Jason has to help Dick realize when enough is enough. Dick always listens. If Jason is saying, "This is too much," then it has to have gone too far. He doesn't question Jason. He trusts him.
Dick struggles with both raging fury and stretches of deep depression. Sometimes swinging straight from one extreme to the other. Jason tries to help Dick modulate his emotions and mental state. Their relationship is rather unhealthy. Jason clings to Dick, refusing to leave him, and Dick ends up becoming really possessive of Jason.
Jason is with Dick nearly from the very beginning of his new life, and he is his grounding point. Dick knows he's better when he is with Jason, and he feels better around him. Just because Dick can't love that doesn't mean that he can't feel any good emotions. He still feels shades of happiness or excitement. Dick can't love Jason, but that doesn't mean that he can't enjoy him. He still has physical needs, and the way he sees it since he and Jason are supposed to be soulmates, it makes sense to go to him for sex.
He means it as a kindness. He doesn't want to hurt Jason, and Dick understands that him sleeping with other people would hurt Jason. So, if Jason meets his needs and keeps him satisfied, then he will only be with Jason. Even if he sees someone else he wants, in order to keep things good between them, he'll abstain.
He basically hands Jason an ultimatum though he doesn't actually mean to.
It doesn't occur to Dick that sex with him now might be heartbreaking. That, because it will mean more to Jason than simple gratification like it is for Dick. It will be a special kind of torture.
He has no idea why Jason cries in the shower after they're done that first time. He doesn't ask though, Jason had obviously been trying to hide it and Dick isn't sure he actually wants to know.
So with Jason as both his grounding point and the source of most of his positive feelings Dick becomes highly possessive and dependent on him.
"How long are you going to stay with me," Dick asks into the dark, sad and hurt and so very scared.
"My entire life Dickie. I won't leave you until the very end," Jason promises.
They both know that end is coming too soon.
Another problem is that Dick knows he isn't really good for Jason. Even though he really does try there are still times when he is unintentionally cruel. Despite this Dick can't let Jason go.
"I'm going to keep hurting you, and sometimes I won't even care that I am." Dick is going through another bout of depression.
"I know Dickiebird, and I'll let you, I'll forgive you, and I'll stay." Jason does his best to take care of him and reassure him. To help his soulmate claw his way back out of the darkness he has fallen into.
The people of Gotham quickly take notice of Nightwing becoming a merciless killer. The few that still believe in law and justice mourn the fall of a hero. The good but down trodden of Gotham that are starving for protection, relief and change see him the same as they do Red Hood. As what Gotham really needs. As someone that will be the catalyst for a change for the better. The criminals only see death.
A lot of theories get thrown around. The most prevalent is that he just finally snapped. That someone can only face the worst of humanity every day for so long before they can't take it anymore. After all, what change do the Bats see? They just face the same goons and villains every night on repeat.
But there are a few who see and recognize the signs, and they know.
Nightwing, a beloved hero, went down and never got back up.
Jason lasts a couple of years with the slow, torturous progression of his hanahaki. If he got the surgery, he could save his life, but that isn't even a consideration. He doesn't want it, and even more than that, he could never do that to Dick.
Jason had read once that the flowers are a physical manifestation of the shattered pieces of a person's soul after being rejected by their soulmate, like petals falling off a dying flower. He had always thought that it was people romanticizing hanahaki.
He isn't so sure now.
He thinks that someone stripped Dick of all his soft and loving petals and cauterized the wound where he was bleeding out, leaving only a thorny stem that remembers and mourns when it was once a flower.
It's cruel.
But he sees how hard Dick tries. Even now, with no love left in him, Dick still tries so damn hard for the people he remembers once loving. He shows it to most by refusing to see them. By telling them over and over when they hunt him down that the Dick Grayson they knew died on that operating table. That he is just the ghoul left behind to haunt them, seeking vengeance for the sin committed against him.
God, does Jason get it. He understands exactly how Dick feels.
Dick is different with him. He clutches tight to Jason and never lets go. Not even when Dick cuts deep into Jason and leaves him emotionally bleeding. Even then, Jason is grateful. There isn't anywhere else that he wants to be than with Dick.
When Jason's condition gets to the point that he has to be hospitalized, Dick stays with him. He feels a sense of responsibility for him and is grateful to Jason for all he has done for him, and frankly, he wants every last second he has with Jason before he loses him forever. So, he stays with him through long days and sleepless nights. Even when the rest of the family comes to see Jason, Dick doesn't leave.
There isn't much the hospital can do for him. Jason is mostly there for comfort care, but he refuses most of the pain meds. They mess with his head too much and make him sleepy, and he doesn't want to waste any of the time he has with Dick. He has been living with this pain for years now. He knows how to endure it.
It's close to the end, and Jason will have to be fully intubated soon. They have put it off as long as they can. When they intubate him, he will have to go on sedatives until he passes. Dick is lying in bed with Jason cuddled close to him.
Dick sets up and leans over Jason to look him in the eyes. “Let's try again in our next life. This was all wrong, but if we hadn't had our chance stolen, we could have been beautiful together. So promise me that we will try again.”
“I promise, for all our lives, however many that may be.” It's obviously painful and a herculean task, but Jason does it even as it leaves him struggling to catch his breath.
Dick holds his gaze and dredges up every last scrap of memory he has of love. He digs up the warm soft, and tender affection and hot and deep passion. He tries to fill himself with it. He kisses Jason and tries his hardest to give everything he used to feel, all that had always belonged to Jason, back to him in that moment.
“It's okay, Little Wing, let go. I'll be right behind you.”
Jason never sees Dick slip the needle into his IV. After Dick injects the lethal amount of morphine, he simply falls asleep and never wakes.
Dick wouldn't let Jason needlessly suffer through the last few days, and he wouldn't let the hanahaki steal his life. It belonged to him.
After he is certain that Jason is gone, he slips out of the hospital. He makes a single stop by a florist to pick up an order he had placed two days earlier. It is a truly massive bouquet with what a casual observer would consider a bizarre mix of flowers. To Dick, it's perfect and terribly beautiful.
Scabious - unfortunate love
Carolina rose - love is dangerous.
cypress flower - eternal love, memories of past love, or love that's unrequited or in vain.
Orange Blossom - Innocence. Eternal love
Primrose flowers - I can’t live without you
Hyacinths - Please forgive me
Blue hydrangeas - forgiveness, rejection, and regret - gratitude, grace, and beauty.
Sweetpeas - Departure, remember me, good-bye, a tender memory, thank you for a lovely time.
wisteria - devotion that transcends death
marigold - the brevity of life, despaired love, grief, sorrow, despair, and mourning, remembering the dead, power, strength
cyclamen - a new path in life, separation, goodbye or resignation
Love-lies-bleeding - hopeless love or hopelessness
Bleeding Heart - Unconditional love, Heartbreak and sadness, unrequited love
All flowers that Jason had coughed up and choked on over the years. Flowers that Jason had grown just for him.
Flowers for his love.
Dick heads to the top of the highest building overlooking Robinson Park, the place where Haly's Circus performed. He very carefully situates his bouquet by the edge and then climbs up onto it.
“Dick, what do you want?” Bruce asks from behind him.
It might seem like an odd question, but for them, it isn't. They both know what he's doing, and Bruce knows that it's because Jason is gone. What he doesn't understand is what Dick is hoping to achieve by doing this.
Dick looks out over the park where his parents fell to their deaths. Bruce had been there that night. It seems fitting that he will watch the last Flying Grayson fall as well.
“I just want to be with him,” Dick answers without turning to face him. “We'll get it right next time.”
Dick had grown his flowers for Jason when he wasn't there to receive them, and they had been stolen away before he could make it back to Dick, but now Dick falls for Jason just like he has so many times before.
Jason is waiting for him, and they will get it right next time.

Jason: his tail and tail pop out when his emotions go above a certain level. Especially when he gets excited over cooking or books.
Dick:he loves playing with Jasons ears and calls him pet names like puppy
Jaydick: dick is 200 while jason is 21 and everyone thinks jason is the older one because dick just has permanent baby face
Jason: his canine teeth are longer then other werewolves and often gets mistaken for a vampire
Dick: his fangs are short but shape. He loves how Jason’s blood tastes and has to remind himself not to over drink.
Vampire lore: they don’t drink straight from the source, you can give them your blood in a cup or they just buy animal blood but drinking straight from the body is intimidate and only something you do with someone you are romantically involved with
Jaydick: dick drinks Jason’s blood straight from his neck and it turns both of them on

Jaydick Altered Carbon AU
Jason holds the gun in his hands, a familiar weight he can’t forget, and wonders how painfully easy it would be. He moves it back and forth, tilting it up and down. His pointer finger taps an uneven rhythm against the barrel.
His hands shake the closer he brings the muzzle towards himself, the higher he lifts it to his head.
“Is that really what you want to do with your only night on Earth?” Dick’s voice slices through his skin, carving through his chest and curling around his beating heart.
“I don’t know…how to be in this world without you,” He murmurs, rolling his head back against the concrete. The gun lays flat against his thighs.
“I’m here.”
“You’re dead.” He states, turning his head away.
He tries not to think about the blood and fire, the smoke in his lungs and the ash sticking to his skin. He tries not to remember the mud and broken threads, the taste of embalming fluid after every re-sleeving.
He tries not to remember every death and every resurrection.
“I don’t have to go back on ice, I…I can just end it now,” He lifts the gun, finally gathering the impulsive courage to bring it to his neck, where his stack sits between his spine. “Make it stop. Blow out my stack and finally fucking stay dead.”
“If you do that, it all won’t go away. Just you,” Dick’s voice goes soft, hushed in a way he never heard outside of their nights wrapped around each other. The ghost of a breath blows over his exposed skin, the intangible shift of a body next to his own.
He huffs, avoiding what he knows is empty space next to him. But he can’t help glancing back to the glowing black and blue suit. He holds the gun steady.
“Jason,” Dick sighs. “250 years is long enough. Move on.”
“Never.”
He feels the ghost of contact, the callouses and tiny scars littered over Dick’s palms as they press against his cheeks. A hallucination, a product of his brain’s chemistry to bring him comfort. He can’t help but lean into it, eyes fluttering closed as his chest constricts.
Over two-and-a-half-centuries and he refuses to move on, to let go of the one piece of happiness he ever had. But Dick Grayson has that effect on people--on him. Always has. Always will.
“You hear me? Not ever.” He finishes, his eyes meeting the stormy dark eyes of his own personal hell. He lowers the gun as Dick’s hand brushes against his forehead, pushing his white streak back out of his eyes.
He’s a coward. He knew that from the start.
“Then do what you were trained to do, what Bruce trained us to do. Make things change,” Dick’s hand grasps his own in a vice grip, curling around the gun and his fingers. He holds him together, keeps the pieces of his soul in-tack.
“Why bother?” He mutters, shaking his head and looking away.
“There’s more to this, you know that.”
When he doesn’t look back at Dick, his bluebird continues, brushing a hand through his hair again.
“It’s not the threat, but the unanswered question, the mystery that needs to be solved. This is how you finish the mission,” Dick murmurs, leaning forward to bring their foreheads together. His hands cup his face as he brings them together, skin to skin, soul to soul.
“Don’t,” He hisses out, bringing his open hand up to squeeze Dick’s neck. “Don’t you dare quote Bruce to me now.”
He squeezes his eyes shut, feeling the press of Dick’s smile against his head.
“Finish the mission.” A ghost whispers. A wavering image of a bluebird caught in flight.
He opens his eyes and the bird is gone.
He’s alone. Stuck in a future he never wanted.

Set in secretary AU. Where Dick and Jason are meandering back to WE after a little lunch date. Unhurried as they walk down the street, all easy banter and cheeky flirtations. Playfully bumping into one another; lingering in that crowded space.
Meanwhile, Bruce and Tim are watching from way up high at the window to Bruce's office. Mirroring each other with crossed arms and matching frowns - utterly stanced up and ready to throw down because fucking Dick.
And then Dick walks Jason to the elevator where they'll part ways (because Dick has a sixth sense that danger awaits him upstairs lol). Their flirtations continue despite both of them really needing to get back to work. It's Dick leaning into the elevator as Jason brushes something from Dick's uniform, all the while badgering Dick about the pigpen. It's either of them pulling away, only to be drawn back together. Jason adjusting Dick's cuffs one more time. Dick fixing the collar of Jason's shirt, making sure it sits right over his sweater.
It's while they're in the middle of this drawn out moment that the elevator would shut. On Dick. Just bumping his shoulders and startling both of them out of their moment.
It'd be so unexpected and dumb that after the initial shock, they'd both be cackling, laughing because wow, embarrassing.
Before the elevator can try to take Dick out again, Jason would shove him back. And Dick would step back gracefully, smile soft because Jason would be flushed from laughter and his titters are probably the best thing Dick will ever hear.
A sweet smirk before the elevator door shuts and damn it all if Dick isn't left the fool. So giddy that his head is in the clouds. Oh, just Dick having this clear bounce in his step as he meanders back to the streets. Only to trip on the curb ahahaha.
Meanwhile, Jason. Who is all smitten on the trip up in the elevator. Laughter bubbles up in him unbidden at the memory of what happened, but he's a professional. Jason composes himself just in time for the elevator to open and -- "Boss?"
Bruce. And Tim. Standing menacingly at the lift. Because of course these two dorks have it timed how long it should have taken Jason to ride up. That it took so long must mean that Dick was up to shenanigans. Jason's flushed cheeks only reinforces that belief, too.
"Am I late?"
He's not, of course. Like Bruce would put any limitations on breaks for his boy. Dick, on the other hand...
Cue Bruce making a break for the stairs because he has to throw down with an interloper.
The follow up with Jason chasing after his boss to keep him from the bad publicity that would come of attacking law enforcement unprovoked, not that Jason isn't supportive, but this officer is an exception come on man. ( 。 •̀ ᴖ •́ 。)

Who has seen the Notebook?
This is a scene in a wip of mine that was inspired by the beach scene in the Notebook. In my fic, Jason has found/saved Dick from a life of enslavement and is trying to rehabilitate him. Dick has fallen for Jason hard, and Jason likewise has feelings for Dick. However, he won't act on them and is doing his best to keep Dick at arm's length because of their situation. This is the scene where Jason's resistance first starts to really break down.
Jason has taken Dick to spend the day at the beach, and Dick has been watching and feeding the seagulls.
Dick: I want to be a bird. To be able to fly and always be that free.
Jason: A bird? Like a Dickiebird?
Dick overjoyed: Yes! I want to be your Dickiebird, and you have to be a bird too.
Dick wraps his arms around Jason's neck and rests his forehead against Jason’s: Now say you're a bird too.
Jason softly: If you're a bird then I'm a bird Dickie.
Dick smiles: My Jaybird.
