“How long did you put the cookies in for?” You asked your dad after about twenty minutes of waiting for the timer to go off.
“Uhhh, FRIDAY? How much longer on the timer?” Tony spoke aloud and awaited a response.
“You did not set a timer, Mr. Stark.” She replied and the two of both stared at each other with wide eyes before scrambling to the kitchen to check on the oven. It was not surprising to see smoke rolling from the inside once the door was open.
“FRIDAY, disable the smoke alarms for a few minutes, please.” You nervously asked as you father grabbed the pan and awkwardly set it onto the countertop. You both silently stared at the extremely dark cookies and started to giggle. “They definitely look like bats now, don’t they?”
“Maybe candy apples are more our speed.”

Thinking about how aggressively protective over you dad!Tony is. Like whenever someone is fucking mean or rude to you, or generally gives you trouble like... you have to laugh. Cause you know what's coming. You were out running some errands (aka picking up falafel and shwarma for you, your dad, Peter, and Harley) when you ducked into a cute little boutique on the way. You saw a pair of sunglasses that were so cute, but upon further investigation, they had weird designs all along the sides. You laugh at how terrible it looks and get a picture to show your dad when you get back. You're about to leave when some stupid fucking Paul Blart mall cop drags you into the back of the store and accuses you of shoplifting. You just laugh. You laugh and ask Jarvis to call your dad. Knockoff Paul blart is trying to scare you into confessing to something you didn't do, threatening you with jail time and telling you your parents can't bail you out now, it's too late for that. You record part of the conversation and send it to your dad. About 0.0000001 second later you get a notification that he's on his way. You hear his repulsors outside and moments later he's storming into the back of the boutique.
"Okay, chachi, you've got about three seconds to explain to me what the hell you think you're doing here."
"Sir, are you the father of-"
"Three..."
"O-of this-"
"Two..."
"-was suspected to be shoplifting-"
"And you're done!"
You watch with a barely repressed laugh as your dad TEARS into this motherfucker. Like he is not holding back in he slightest. Tony KNOWS his kid. There is not a shadow of a doubt in his mind that this is a result of some miserable little man on a powertrip who couldn't get into cop school. And Tony TELLS HIM that to his fucking face. You watch a sad, angry little man reduced to tears after being roasted to within an inch of his life by your dad. It's giving "you pathetic, short little man. you don't have any friends, or any family, or any LAND." By the time he's finally done, you dad looks the guy dead in the eye ad tells him with more confidence that paul blart has ever felt in his life
"If you're lucky, maybe you'll be scrubbing my floors with a toothbrush. Maybe."
Tony ushers you out of there, ordering some food and coffee and asking Jarvis to cancel the next chunk of scheduled events so he can spend some time with you, make sure you're okay. He may or may not have also bought that little boutique, because when someone messes with his kid, Tony does NOT let it slide.

Anonymous request: Imagine being Tony’s trans son and having panic attacks
It was stupid you thought. Your dad was the one who had lived through all the trauma and yet you were having panic attacks. They hit worst late at night, when you stayed up either to enjoy the quiet of the night time or because your brain wouldn’t shut up and let you sleep. Either way, it seemed the quiet let your brain run wild in all the ways you didn’t want it too.
You hadn’t told him about it. He had enough on his plate to deal with, you didn’t want to bother him with something you felt you should be able to work through.
It didn’t matter though. As busy as he was, he noticed you looking more tired, sleeping later in the mornings, and Jarvis had alerted him to your movements in the middle of the night. He let it go for about a week once he knew, figuring it could just be a temporary thing, that there was something with school causing your late nights. He did worry it might be something to do with your gender but you had never mentioned it being a problem at your school and certainly no one at the school had told him anything (if they had he would have lit a fire under their asses to fix it).
When nothing changed, he decided he would step in.
You were having a bad night. It was 4 am and you were lying in bed wide awake. You’d tried all your usual tricks to fall asleep: music, ear plugs, meditating, music again, just lying down with your eyes closed. None of it worked. Instead your brain was firing on all cylinders. It was running the gamut of catastrophizing, reflecting on past mistakes and embarrassments, and heightening your anxiety for no discernible reason at all. If you weren’t quickly falling into a panic attack, you would have yelled at your brain to pull itself together. Alas, it was too late for that.
Your heart rate quickened and your breathing changed. You started shaking, despite not being cold. It felt like you were drowning in your mind. Everything was moving too fast and you didn’t have anything to hold onto.
Jarvis alerted Tony to your rapid heartbeat, so rapid it had triggered his warning systems, and your dad was soon knocking at your door. You were vaguely aware of it but were too busy trying to hit the breaks on your brain to actually respond. After a couple seconds without a response, your dad opened your door and saw you curled on top of your sheets, trying desperately to keep it together.
He rushed to your bed and sat next to you, running a hand through your hair as you buried your face into a pillow, like that might muffle your pounding heart and racing thoughts. He rubbed your back gently.
“Hey kid. What’s going on bud?” He asked softly.
You just shook your head, not ready to speak just yet, though you could feel yourself coming back to ground slowly.
“Okay you don’t have to say anything, but I’m not going to leave you kiddo.”
“Thanks.” You mumbled out from the pillow.
Your dad kept his hand on your shoulder, occasionally running it up to your hair. He remembered how happy you were when you first cut it, even before you’d come out. He knew you’d had a couple problems from people when you did come out, but he made sure your school took care of it. And all the other Avengers were very quick to accept you and make sure they gendered you correctly and use your name. Oh and god help any reporter that got it wrong. Tony and Pepper would rain hell upon them and sometimes it was hard to tell which was scarier (actually Pepper was always scarier, Tony was more humiliating though).
You pulled your face out of the pillow and looked over at your dad.
“There he is. I was afraid the pillow monster had won.” He said, trying to joke but you could hear in his voice that he was actually worried.
“Sorry.”
“What’s going on? You haven’t been sleeping well, probably worse than me and that’s impressive, but not a good thing.”
“I’ve just been having some insomnia lately.” You shrugged as much as you could from your position.
“Uh huh, and?” He knew that was not all there was. What he had walked in on was not ‘just’ insomnia.
You looked away from him again, studying the wrinkles in your pillowcase. You didn’t want to admit the truth to your dad.
“Buddy you can tell me anything, I’m not going to be mad at you.”
“Cap’s suit is cooler than yours.” You made the joke quickly. Part of it was your nature as a Stark but the other part was intention deflection.
Your dad whacked the back of your head lightly.
“You can tell me any true thing.” He amended. He wanted to laugh at your joke, you were clearly his son, but he did have bigger things to focus on.
“I, uh, it’s stupid.” You weren’t the one with PTSD from saving the whole world.
“It’s not stupid. Thor breaking the toaster trying to make a pop tart, again, is stupid.”
“I’ve been having panic attacks.” You rushed the sentence out quietly. “I told you it was stupid.” You added.
“Hey.” He said sharply. You looked up at him, worried you would see anger but that wasn’t the reason for the sharpness. “It’s not stupid and I won’t hear a son of mine calling himself stupid, especially for having panic attacks. You didn’t ask for them or build a robot that decided to go crazy and inflict you with panic attacks. How long have you been bottling this up?”
“The insomnia, I think a couple months. The panic attacks really started getting bad just the last week or two. I thought I could get a handle on them but it seems like they keep winning.”
“We can’t have that now can we. Stark brains are a little overactive as you might have noticed. If anyone’s brain here is stupid, it’s mine. Have you seen all my failed inventions and recordings? Actually, I don’t want you to see those.” You laughed softly at your dad’s self deprecation. Though if he was going to make you work on your own, you were going to make him work on his too. “Anyway, I think this is something you shouldn’t be handling on your own kid. What do you say in the morning, the real morning not this whatever 3 am crap is that’s not the real morning, we find someone that you can talk to about this?”
“You’re not embarrassed?”
“First of all, this is not embarrassing. I love you no matter what. Second, I have done so many embarrassing things in my life there’s no way this could even register on the embarrassing scale.”
“Morning sounds good then.” You agreed. One day, when you were a little older, you would ask your dad about all those embarrassing stories and failed inventions.
“Get some sleep kid. I’ll see you in the morning.” He said, getting up from your bed.
“Okay.”
“Love you bud.”
“Love you to Asgard and back.” You said, a saying you picked up after first meeting Thor.
“That’s a long way kid. I love you to Asgard and back.”
He closed the door and you burrowed back into your bed, finding that your brain was more amenable to sleep now. You closed your eyes, glad your dad had your back about this too.

now hear me out… tony’s your adoptive dad and peter’s your boyfriend. the accords have come out and it’s a civil war. because of your morals, you choose “uncle steve’s” side. you know it’s going to be hard to fight your dad and you don’t know how you’ll do it.
up untill the point where you see a new hero… spiderman… fighting alongside your dad. your head tilts when he speaks, because his voice sounds familiar. and then it hits you. that’s your boyfriend. your loving boyfriend of two years who supposedly tells you everything.
before anyone can move, you speak into the comms “i got webs.” and now you’re pissed. pissed at your dad for putting your boyfriend between your fight and not telling you. pissed at your boyfriend for lying to you, not telling you he was spiderman when he’s met your dad only a gajillion times. you’ve never harbored this much anger in your body.
and so suddenly it feels like power is speeding through your veins. power like you’ve never felt before. it’s strong and so are you as you throw your boyfriend across the german airport lot. and as he tries to explain, al you can muster is an angry “save it webs” as you throw him up and slam him against a metal box before moving your anger towards your dad.
then suddenly steve and bucky are running towards the planes, nat and your dad chasing them. and you’re screaming as everyone watches in amazement at the power literally flowing from your body in what looks like purple lightning. you scream some more, throwing your hands out to your sides before falling to your knees. and your dad’s team drops. you look at steve, and all you say is “go!”
your dad and peter both try to talk to you, but you’re not having it. you simply shake your head as you turn your back to them, telling them “i can’t even look at you two right now just… leave me alone.”
you don’t give them the chance to answer before you walk away.

It’s been months since you and Tony returned to Earth. It’s been months since the Avengers beheaded Thanos. It’s been months since the realization dawned upon you all – that there was nothing you could do to reverse what had been done.
The only thing you could do was move on.
Or at least try.
Tony went to live in a house by the lake alongside Pepper.
Natasha, Steve, Rhodes, Rocket, Nebula, Carol and you stayed at the Avengers Facility and were trying to take care of the damage overtaken the planet.
Thor had left, claiming he had to take care of his people and promising to visit as much as he could. At least this time he wasn’t off to another planet because he had decided to settle on Earth and build New Asgard here.
He and you were official now.
After beheading Thanos, Thor had felt horrible and had fallen into a hole. You were the only one who reached out to him and pulled him out. That’s when you confessed your love to him. He had been so unsure and hesitant because he was afraid he’d lose you just like he lost all the other people he loved. But he hadn’t been able to fight off his feelings either, so he had confessed and the two of you began building a relationship.
Your chest would swell with happiness every time you reminisced of the old days and how the two of you had first met years ago.
You had been kidnapped by HYDRA at a young age. They had trained you to be a great fighter and had experimented on you, which was how you became who you were today – an enhanced individual and a deadly weapon.
They had transferred you to the Sokovian base at one point because they wanted to experiment more on you with Loki’s scepter and that’s where the Avengers found you.
The moment you had seen Tony, you had surrendered and let them take you back to the Tower. He had been shocked when he found out you were his daughter. There was a lot of regret, guilt, sadness but also relief and longing to build a family.
You bonded with the Avengers over time and it had always warmed your heart that while most of them had been skeptical and guarded at first, Thor had been the most enthusiastic one out of all and he hadn’t cared about your background at all. He had been so eager to become your friend and he had always been great at sensing when you were down so he’d always try to lighten your spirits which was something you appreciated greatly. It was mostly Thor, Natasha, and your father who had tried so hard to pull you out of the dark hole you had fallen in so they became the most special in your life. And with time, you had developed feelings for the God of thunder.
He was just so full of love and life and his smile brightened your day. He charged you with positive energy. He always managed to make you laugh and he treated you with so much respect. He was a true gentleman and he oozed golden retriever vibes. You were convinced that he was the kind of man that every woman deserved.
Nowadays, the two of you were visiting one another when you had free time.
You would go to Norway and help him with the building and settling of New Asgard. You met Valkyrie and you were surprised at how fast you became friends. She was just cool like that.
But things were harsh.
You at least had your family intact, despite losing Sam, Peter, and Wanda. Meanwhile, Thor had lost his father, his mother, his brother, his best friends – the warriors, his planet, and half of his people, not to mention half the Avengers on top of that.
Now he only had you, Tony, Bruce, Steve, Rhodey, and Natasha.
He was depressed.
He suffered from PTSD and you really didn’t know how to fix this.
You tried your best but you couldn’t help him.
Not truly.
So you left some issues in the hands of time.
“It’s ok,” you whispered as you caressed his cheek, placing a kiss on his forehead as you brought him closer.
He had just woken up again because of a nightmare and he only found peace in your arms, so you just laid there, his head tucked safely in the crook of your neck as his arms encircled your body tightly, afraid to let go. That would occur almost every night which was the reason why you had decided to stay in New Asgard longer this time around. Someone had to take care of him and help him pull through. And if you had to be honest with yourself, you preferred spending time with the man you loved instead of going on missions and cleaning up after Thanos’ shit. So you were considering staying for good.
“I couldn’t save them. I failed again,” rasped the man and you hugged him tighter, placing another kiss on his forehead, then another on his eye, on his nose, on his cheek, and a long one on his lips. He kissed back just as tenderly, something you probably wouldn’t expect from a man with his stature and boisterous personality, but he always surprised you with his gentleness.
“You didn’t fail. Nothing of this is your fault. Stop blaming yourself,” you muttered in his hair and he hummed. “I’ll be flying back to New York tomorrow,” you said after a few minutes of silence and Thor pulled a bit to look at you, his fingers tracing your arm. “I think it’s time I return and stay with dad and Pepper for a while. She’ll give birth in a month and I want to be with her during the last few weeks and… with all that will come afterward. Dad will most possibly be a panicked mess so… someone has to be the responsible one,” you chuckled just imagining Tony running like a headless chicken and Pepper totally giving up on him.
“What is it? A girl or a boy?” asked Thor and you smiled as you picked up the enthusiasm in his voice.
“It’s a girl,” you revealed and the god laughed, causing you to laugh alongside him because it was just that contagious.
“Another woman? Stark will be completely and unfairly outnumbered.”
“Oh, you bet he will. Poor guy,” you snorted and Thor’s expression became serious.
“Have you ever thought of becoming a mother?” he asked and your smile melted.
“I thought you knew how I felt about this,” you sighed as you sat up and scratched your head, smoothing out your messy hair. “I’m not a… normal person, Thor. I have blood on my ledger that will never be wiped off… How can I create something so perfect and raise it when I… When I’m a murderer?” you gulped down your tears and he sat up as well, coming face to face with you and grasping your arms.
“I hate when you speak like that about yourself,” he sent you a reprimanding look and you fidgeted. “You were forced to do what you did. We all know how horrible HYDRA was. You didn’t have a choice, Y/N/N… while many of us have had the chance of making the right decisions and we ended up making the wrong ones which resulted in many people dying… We are all murderers in this game… How did Tony call it? The superhero gig?” he asked and you nodded. “You have the right to live a normal life…more than anyone. And I’m sure that you’ll be a great mother one day. I mean, how can you not be? You are perfect,” he smiled at you and you gulped, eyes watery, placing a hand on his cheek and kissing him.
“You are perfect,” you whispered in the kiss and he chuckled.
“I know.”
“Oh, ‘you know’? Mr. God of Big Ego?” you joked as you poked his toned chest and he shrugged playfully before his hands roamed over your sides playfully as he pulled you closer, flushing your body against his, making you laugh and wriggle in his arms at the ticklish sensation. “Sto-hop!” you snickered and he stopped, pecking your lips again before lowering you down and nestling himself back in your arms.
“I love you, my lady.”
“I love you too, Thor.”

5 Years Later
“Are they coming already?!” asked Morgan excitedly as she grabbed her father’s pants and tugged in order to get his attention, making him chuckle.
“For the tenth time today, yes, they are coming. Why are you so excited? Y/N was here just a few weeks ago.”
“Yes, but I miss her!” exclaimed the little girl, and Tony chuckled.
“I miss her too, kid?!” he ruffled Morgan’s hair and she grinned.
And just then, a Quinjet appeared in their line of sight. It was one of the smaller ones that could easily fit on the lawn, which is exactly where this one got parked. The door opened and you and Thor stepped outside. The two haven’t looked better.
You were glowing. Your luscious, [color] hair was braided in a beautiful pattern, courtesy of Valkyrie Tony supposed. Your body seemed to be healthy despite the harsh labor you had gone through and Tony had to be grateful for your enhanced healing abilities. You were wearing a short, casual, ivory satin dress with a cappuccino color, a soft cardigan on top.
Thor was as handsome as ever. He still kept his hair short but was getting more into styling it differently. His beard was perfectly trimmed and shaped, his body as toned and godly as always. He was sporting a tight white, short-sleeved t-shirt, and black jeans.
The biggest difference was that you held a baby.
Tony had been ecstatic when you told him the big news back then.
He had suggested that you and Thor live with him, Pepper, and Morgan for some time and the two of you had gladly agreed. All of you had had great family time together throughout the whole pregnancy and afterward, everything was so easy for you because you had Tony and Pepper to help you with the baby so you didn’t have to worry about not being to sleep properly or be confined in your home unable to go out and all those kind of things that new mothers had to go through. It was a very peaceful and good period of time thanks to your parents and Thor because he was also of great help. You had left New Asgard in Valkyrie’s capable hands but you had to return for a while to deal with some political issues.
“Daddy!” you exclaimed and he lifted a hand to wave at you.
“Hey, sweetheart,” he greeted and you jogged to him. He pecked your forehead before his gaze fell on the small bundle wrapped in a cloth around your torso. “How’s the little nugget?” asked the man and you smiled.
“She’s been a treasure. I swear, she’s the quietest baby ever.”
“Don’t worry. It’s never too late for her to grow up and become as loud as you two,” he joked sarcastically and you guffawed in fake outrage, making Thor burst out laughing.
The couple patted Morgan’s head and gave her kisses before everyone entered and settled in the living room.
“Heey,” gushed Pepper quietly as she came to stand by you and pulled the clothing away to look at the baby’s face and lightly poke and pinch her cheek. “Little princess is a heavy sleeper, isn’t she?” chuckled the woman and you nodded.
“Yeah, it’s honestly a blessing, Pep. I’ll go put her in the nursery,” you left then, going upstairs, with Thor right behind you.
Tony looked after you and when you disappeared to the second floor, his smile faltered.
“Oh, Tony… Are you thinking of Peter again?” asked Pepper as she placed a hand on his cheek and he gulped, nodding.
“I just… he cherished Y/N so much…He cherished me, he cherished this family… I just wish he was here with us now,” he muttered and Pepper sent him a sad smile.
“At least Thor and Y/N are happy now. A stark contrast to what they used to be after Thanos.”
“I wouldn’t have it any other way… I’m glad… Really!” smiled Tony and Pepper pecked his lips and rubbed his arm soothingly before heading for the fridge to grab some cool drinks and snacks. You were all in for one lovely afternoon and for many more to come now that the whole family was back together.
Tumblr media
One Month Later
The day was amazing – not too hot and not too cold. The family had decided to have lunch outside so the table was covered with an ivory cover adorning lace and golden patterns. Royal Albert dinnerware was placed on top alongside a few big oval glasses, waiting to be filled. Multiple flowers and candles decorated the table and the garden itself was strikingly green and full of plants and flowers, almost resembling a jungle – courtesy of you and Pepper’s green thumb.
“Morgoona,” called out Tony as he strolled leisurely down the lawn toward the small playhouse. “Morgan H. Stark. Want some lunch?” he asked and Morgan came out, holding her hand up.
“Define lunch or be disintegrated.”
“Okay. You should not be wearing that, okay? That is part of a special anniversary gift I'm making for Mom,” he said as he removed the blue and gold helmet. “There you go. Are you thinking about lunch? Want a handful of crickets?”
“No.”
“That's what you want,” she laughed when he picked her up and started carrying her to the porch. “How did you find this anyways?”
“Garage.”
“Really? Were you looking for it?”
“No. I found it, though.”
“You like going to the garage, huh? So does Daddy. It's fine actually. Mom never wears anything I make her.”
“Y/N wears what you make her, though,” giggled the girl and Tony smiled.
“Does she, now?”
“Dad!”
“And speaking of the Devil,” he grinned when he saw you come out of the house, carrying a jug filled with more white roses.
“Daddy,” started Morgan in a scolding tone. “What did Y/N say about comparing her to the Devil?”
“That it’s offensive to the devil?” drawled Tony with raised eyebrows and you laughed, rolling your eyes, as you pecked Tony’s cheek before proceeding to shower Morgan with kisses, placing the jug on the middle of the table and returning back in the house to pick other things. Thor came to place the baby swing chair near the table before going back in as well.
“Alright then, let’s get you cleaned up and then we can go have lunch, ok?” he asked and she nodded but then his eyes landed on a car coming to a stop nearby and three figures exiting the vehicle and nearing the garden.
“Hey, Tony,” greeted Steve.
Tumblr media
“Tony, after everything you've seen, is anything really impossible?”
“Quantum fluctuation messes with the Planck scale, which then triggers the Deutsch proposition. Can we agree on that? Thank you. In Layman's terms, it means you're uh, not coming home!” quipped the man.
“Dad?” your voice came from the door as you slowly approached everyone and looked at each person. “Hi, guys…What’s going on here?” you asked as your gut began churning unsettled.
“Hey, Y/N/N,” greeted Natasha with a smile that you returned.
“I did,” defended Scott.
“No. You accidentally survived. It's a-It's a billion-to-one cosmic fluke,” Tony threw his hands in exasperation before thrusting them in his pockets as he furrowed his eyebrows. “And now you wanna pull a... What do you call it? A time heist?”
“A time heist?” your eyebrows shot to your hairline as you did a double-take and looked at Tony.
“Is this about what I think it is about?” you inquired and Tony hummed.
“Mmmhm.”
“Yeah! Time heist,” nodded Scott.
“Of course. Why didn't we think of this before? Oh! Because it's laughable? Because it's a pipedream?” raised his voice Tony.
“The stones are in the past. We can go back and we can get them. We can snap our own fingers. We can bring everybody back.”
“Or screw it up worse than he already has, right?” you joined in. “I mean, are we the only ones who have watched enough movies to know that messing up with the past can severely mess up the future which in this case is our current present.”
“I don't believe we would screw up,” murmured Steve.
“Gotta say this. Sometimes, I miss that giddy optimism,” smiled Tony mockingly.
“Optimism? I call it delusion. Do you realize what you are asking of us?” you asked in outrage as you came to stand next to your father and properly face the entire group. “We have families… We moved on as weird as it may sound to you. Dad moved on, I moved on, hell even Thor moved on, which says a lot considering the hell he went through... And you come here, after five years, after one thousand eight hundred and twenty-six days, during which may I say you didn’t even bother visiting or calling us, except Natasha. And now you want the impossible from us? That’s what you always do, right? You got a situation you can’t handle and what do you do? Come ask dad for help. Good old times, right, Cap?” you bit out and Tony sighed.
“The universe is at stake here, Y/N,” tried reasoning Steve but you glared daggers at him.
“I don’t care about the universe anymore!” you shouted as you threw your hands in annoyance and anger. “I don’t know them! They are not people that I love! They are strangers! Why should I risk everything for people I don’t know? People I have never even seen?”
“Because this is what we do.”
“No, this is what you do. It’s what you’ve done as Avengers. But I’m not exactly a part of this. I gave that up,” you shook your head and Steve sent you a pleading look.
“Y/N/N-“
“-Honey,” Thor appeared, holding the baby, making everyone’s eyes widen. “Oh, hey guys. Been some time,” he greeted with a smile and you sighed, taking your child in your arms and kissing her head.
“Speaking of universe…She is my universe,” you stated flatly as you looked Steve in his eyes and he shut them in defeat before looking away and then back at you and Tony.
“Please, you have to see reason,” pleaded Steve and Tony snorted. You just let out a frustrated sigh before moving past the group and climbing down the porch stairs in order to go to the garden and place your kid in the chair designed for her, Natasha opting to come after you.
“What reason are you talking about when you want us to go back in time and risk so many things being changed? We can make things worse. Hell, what if not half but the whole universe is destroyed thanks to us?” Tony kept arguing against Steve’s point and Thor’s eyes widened as he understood what they were talking about.
“We are not going to fail with so much at stake.”
“High hopes won't help if there's no logical, tangible, way for me to safely execute said time heist,” added Tony. “I believe the most likely outcome will be our collective demise.”
“Not if we strictly follow the rules of time travel. That means no talking to our past selves, no betting on sporting events-“ started animatedly Scott but you halted in your step and whirled to look at the group, waving your free hand in a dismissive gesture while the other was holding a squirming, trying to climb on you, baby.
“Hold on! I'm gonna stop you right there, Scott. Are you seriously telling me that your plan to save the universe is based on Back to the Future?” you inquired incredulously and he snorted awkwardly.
“N-no.”
“Good. You had me worried for a moment there. 'Cause that'd be horseshit. That's not how quantum physics works,” you let out a relieved sigh before nearing the garden table.
“Tony... We have to take a stand,” tried again Steve but he shook his head.
“We did stand. And yet, here we are.”
“I know you got a lot on the line. You got a wife, a daughter, two daughters actually. Y/N and Thor have a kid too. But I lost someone very important to me. A lot of people did. And now, now we have a chance to bring her back. To bring everyone back. And you're telling me that you won't even-“
“That's right, Scott. We won't. Leave it,” glared Tony and at that moment, Morgan came and jumped into her father’s arms.
“Mommy told me to come and save you.”
“Good job. I'm saved,” muttered Tony as he kissed her temple. “I wish you'd come here to ask me something else. Anything else. Honestly, I missed you guys. It was,” he sighed before sending them a smile. “Oh, and table's set for lunch. If you wanna join-“
“Tony, I get it. And I'm happy for you, Y/N, and Thor. I really am. But this is a second chance,” Steve tried one last time but Tony shook his head as he came to stand next to a very silent Thor.
“I got my second chance right here, Cap. I can't roll the dice again. If you don't talk about this, you can stay for lunch,” were his last words as he headed inside. They looked expectantly at Thor but he shook his head.
“No one is going anywhere and that’s final,” he spoke deeply and firmly, sounding like a thunderbolt, and his glare sent shivers down everyone’s spine. He got serious and angry extremely rarely. But when he did, everyone was easily reminded of the wrath of a god. Because of his cheerfulness people tended to forget that he was a God and that he could be truly terrifying if he wished to.
You sighed as you returned to the porch and put a reassuring hand on his shoulder while facing the group one more time.
“If you had come knocking a few years ago with that plan, we would’ve agreed in a heartbeat. But not now,” you muttered before grabbing Thor’s hand and dragging him away, leaving the group in awkward silence.

SkyFire 3: Chapter 18
Relationships - Beginnings, Middles, and Ends?
:September - October 2018
Word count: 3.6k
SkyFire 3 MASTERLIST
As the end of September began to near, Niall returned to London and he caught up with Aurora for lunch. They sat outside a cafe nearby the studios, enjoying the sunshine. Niall had spent the last half an hour lamenting his dating woes to his happily married friend.
“It’s not fair,” he sighed. “You and Harry are perfect for each other and Lou and Elanor are back together and happy… I just want that, you know?”
“I do,” Rori agreed. “I’ve never known you to have a hard time meeting women though.”
“It’s not meeting them that’s the problem,” Niall replied. “It’s easy to start dating someone, it’s keeping it going that’s hard.”
“Maybe you just need help picking better options. What are you looking for?”
“Honestly? Someone that I can just be myself around.”
“You didn’t feel that way with the others?”
“It always ends up feeling like they’re dating Niall Horan,” he explained and Rori knew what he meant immediately. Being famous could be really fun and it came with a lot of benefits, but the downside was that it was often hard to know if people genuinely liked you or just liked your name and what it represented.  “I just want to find a normal girl,” Niall continued, “with a normal job that wants to settle down. I want something serious.”
Aurora was quiet for a moment, her thoughts ticking over. Perhaps it was the pregnancy hormones, or perhaps it was the stability of staying in one place for several months for the first time in years, but Aurora was feeling overwhelmingly content and wanted to ensure those around her were too. “I might know the perfect girl, actually.”
“You do?”
“Yeah. I’ve actually always thought the two of you would be great together but whenever one of you is single, the other’s been in a relationship or on a dating break.”
“Who is she?”
“Ella,” Rori explained.
“Ella’s not interested in me,” Niall scoffed.
“Are you kidding me? She’s always had a bit of a crush but you either weren’t available or she was too intimidated. You should ask her out.”
“Are you sure?”
“I’m sure,” Aurora promised. “Call her and ask to take her to dinner. I promise you won't regret it.”
xXx
The following week, Louis and Rori were talking about the fact that Louis had been speaking with Zayn the previous day.
“So you’ve fully patched things up now?” Rori asked.
“I wouldn’t say we’ll ever be like we were in the band,” Louis admitted. “I think too much has happened for us to go back to being brothers like that, but I feel we’ve fixed things enough to be friends.”
“I’m glad,” Rori said. “I mean, I’m not glad you’ll never be like it was in the band, but I’m glad you can be friends again. I was hurt when he cut us all off, but I know it was way worse for you than it was for me.”
“Yeah, I guess it’s a combination of getting out of all of that toxic shit and also just growing up, but I can look at it now and I get that he needed to get out to save himself.”
“I tried to call him so many times afterwards,” Rori admitted. “He probably blocked me because I never heard from him.”
“I think he changed his number.”
“That makes sense,” Rori nodded. Louis watched as she fidgeted with the pen on the table in front of her, her eyes locked on the blue plastic.
“Do you want his new number?” he asked. “Maybe now’s a good time to heal old wounds.”
She finally looked up to meet his gaze. “Do you think he’d even want to talk to me after all these years?”
“He replied to me when I reached out, and you didn’t drag him online like I did.”
“Maybe you could give him my number and tell him it’s ok if he doesn’t want to talk to me, but I’m here if he does?”
“I can do that,” Louis agreed with a soft smile.
“Thanks.”
“Anytime.”
xXx
Zayn texted her 3 days later, asking if she wanted to get a coffee and she quickly accepted.
“I just don’t understand why you’re doing this?” Harry asked for a third time that morning.
“Because I have questions,” Rori explained again as she buttoned her jeans up in their walk-in closet. She watched Harry in the reflection of the mirror as he stood in the bedroom behind her.
“Like what?” Harry scoffed. “Why was he a selfish prick that blew everything up instead of just talking to us?”
“Harry,” Rori sighed. She was exhausted from having this same argument on repeat for the last several days. “I’ve already explained this so many times. He was my friend, he was in pain and I missed it. I want to know how I missed it. I want to know what I could have done differently so that he could have felt safe talking to me.”
“What he did wasn’t on you,” Harry argued. “The only person responsible for what he did was him.”
“I have to go or I’m going to be late.”
“Yeah, sure. Just dismiss me again.”
“Harry I can’t have this fight with you right now and honestly I don’t want to have any fight with you. I’m going now and I really hope you get this attitude in check by the time I get home.”
xXx
Zayn was already waiting for her in a booth when she arrived at the Golden Stag. It was awkward at first, with neither of them knowing what to say or how to start.
“I read you and Harry bought the place,” Zayn said after several awkward pauses in conversation.
“We did, yeah,” Rori nodded. “Helen and Greg couldn’t afford to keep it and I wasn’t ready to say goodbye so we bought it and have been updating it a bit.”
“Fresh coat of paint?” Zayn asked.
“That and the stage,” Rori agreed, gesturing over to the small platform that had been recently built in the far corner of the room near where her piano was set up. “We want to start organising open mic nights. Music, Comedy, and maybe even some pub trivia nights. Just some different ways to get people in and spending their money, you know?”
“Sounds awesome. You guys have really got things sorted by the sounds of things.”
“We’re certainly trying… How about you Zayn? How’s your life been?”
They chatted for a while, updating each other on their lives before finally building up the courage to talk about what had ended their friendship all those years ago.
“I really am sorry I ghosted you,” Zayn finally admitted. “The guys were just so angry when I told them, I couldn’t imagine you feeling differently. Especially with how angry Harry was.”
“Harry’s temper has always been his downfall,” Rori admitted. “Especially when he uses it to mask when he’s been hurt. I won't lie, you hurt me but I understood you were protecting yourself.”
“I’m surprised you haven’t written a song about it to be honest,” Zayn admitted. “Most of the boys have.”
“I did,” Rori replied, “a few years ago.”
“D’you ever record it?”
“No, I sold it,” Rori replied. “Wanna hear it?”
“Yeah I would,” Zayn agreed, watching quietly as Rori pulled her phone out of her pocket and opened spotify. She queued up the track before handing a headphone to Zayn and placing the other in her own ear. She didn’t miss the slight flinch as his fingers brushed her prosthetic. The opening piano riff of Tell Me How filled their ears, and then Hayley Williams started to sing the words that Aurora had written years ago, only a few months after Zayn had vanished. He refused to meet her eye as the first verse played, and instead stared at his hands, clasped together on the table between them.
I can't call you a stranger
But I can't call you
I know you think that I erased you
You may hate me, but I can't hate you
And I won't replace you
Tell me how to feel about you now
He didn’t lift his gaze until the bridge, finally looking up at his former friend.
You keep me up with your silence
Take me down with your quiet
Of all the weapons you fight with
Your silence is the most violent
“I never really thought about the damage I caused when I left,” he finally said when the song ended. “I knew the guys would hate me but beyond that I didn’t stop to consider anyone else.”
“I meant what I said before, I don’t blame you,” Rori replied. “You were fighting for survival. It’s not selfish to save your own life.”
“You make what I did sound noble.”
“Maybe not noble, but definitely necessary,” she elaborated. “I’m just sorry we didn’t see it happening and step in to save you first. We failed you.”
“No, he replied. “No, I was ashamed so I hid what I was feeling until I couldn't anymore.”
“Can we agree that we both could have done better?” Aurora offered as an olive branch. “I’m pretty sure we could go back and forth over whose fault it was forever and we’d never get anywhere.”
“I think that seems fair,” Zayn agreed with a soft smile.
Aurora smiled back, turning the conversation to lighter topics and within minutes it felt like they were back on a tour bus all those years ago, sharing quiet conversations on long drives in the middle of the night. Things were going great and flowing easily, but Aurora couldn’t ignore the way Zayn’s eyes would occasionally flick down to where her prosthetic was resting on the table. Everytime it happened it was just for a split second and for a while she tried to convince herself that she was imagining it. Eventually she couldn’t ignore it any longer and certainly couldn’t ignore the way his brows would pinch together slightly.
“Do you have a problem with my prosthetic?” she finally asked, a little more bluntly than she intended.
“What?” Zayn gasped. “No, god no.”
“You keep looking at it and frowning and it’s hard to think of another reason,” she explained. “I understand that it makes some people uncomfortable but honestly Zayn…”
“No,” he interrupted.  “No, it’s not that, I promise.”
“Then what is it?”
“When I saw the news about the shooting,” Zayn started. “When I saw that footage of Steve carrying you to the ambulance, it was awful.”
“I hear that a lot,” Rori replied.
“And I felt so guilty,” he continued.
“Why would you feel guilty?”
“Because I was a terrible friend to you and I thought you were going to die hating me.”
“But I didn’t die,” she pointed out, “and I never hated you. Why didn’t you reach out then?”
“Because I’m a coward,” Zayn admitted, “and I thought you and the guys hated me for what I did. It would have been selfish of me to show back up then.”
“Zayn there’s nothing I would have loved more than for you to reach out after the shooting.”
“I’m so sorry, Rori. I’m sorry for everything.”
“I know you are,” she offered with a smile, “and I forgive you, just like Louis does. We were all just kids and we fucked up a lot of things back then.”
“Do you think Harry will ever forgive me too?” Zayn asked and in that moment he seemed so small and so young.  “I’ve spoken to Niall and Liam since Louis and I patched things up but it’s been radio silence from Harry. It’s why I was so surprised when Lou gave me your number and said you wanted to reach out.”
“Harry’s stubborn,” Rori sighed. “He’s still holding on to a lot of anger and I don’t know whether he’ll ever let it go.”
“Yeah, I thought as much,” Zayn agreed. “Can’t imagine he was thrilled about today.”
“He’s not,” Rori agreed. “We’ve kind of been fighting about it for the last couple of days.”
“Sorry.”
“Don’t be. He’s been a bit of a dick lately, but I guess that’s a part of being married. Sometimes the person you’re married to acts like a dick and you put up with it until they pull their head out of their arse and apologise.”
“Are you happy, Rori?” Zayn asked softly. “I mean apart from the current predicament of your husband being a dickhead?”
“I am,” she replied with a chuckle. “Are you?”
“Yeah, I am.”
“I’m glad. We deserve that.”
It was late afternoon by the time they said their farewells with promises to stay in touch and Aurora made her way home, hoping that Harry would be in a better mood than when she’d left.
xXx
Harry hadn’t continued their argument when she’d returned to their flat, but over the next few weeks his bad mood continued and while Rori was pretty sure she’d caused it, she couldn't for the life of her figure out what she’d done wrong.
A week before the first live shows were set to begin, and a week after Aurora entered her second trimester,  she was starting to feel exhausted and her feet ached constantly. By the end of each day all she wanted to do was get home as quickly as possible so that she could curl up and fall asleep. It was a Thursday in October and after a long day working with her contestants, Aurora headed straight home, barely making it to the couch before she collapsed in a hump and fell asleep.  When she woke, it was dark and she could hear Harry coming into the apartment, he’d just slammed the door which is what had woken her up. She was groggy and it took her a moment to catch up to what was happening and the fact that he was yelling.
“Where the fuck were you Aurora?” he bellowed.
“What are you talking about Harry?'' she mumbled as she struggled to catch up with what was happening. .
“I said where were you?”he repeated, looming over her where she was still laying on the sofa.
“I was right here,” she replied. “Why are you yelling at me?”
“Because you were supposed to meet me in Soho for dinner with the movie execs and you never showed! I thought something happened to you and now I get home to find you asleep on the sofa. What the fuck Rori?”
“No, dinner isn’t till Thursday.”
“It is Thursday and you weren’t there!”
“Oh god!” Rori gasped, placing a hand over her mouth in dawning realization. “I’m so sorry, Harry.”
“I asked one thing,” Harry continued to shout, his anger not abating as he berated her. “I asked my wife to be supportive of me for one fucking meal and you couldn’t be bothered to show up for me!”
“Harry I’m sorry,” Rori sobbed, “I was exhausted and I genuinely didn’t realize it was tonight. Can we reschedule?” She stood up from the sofa, reaching out for him, but taking a quick step back when he lurched away from her.
“No, Aurora! Because not everyone on this planet is just going to change their plans to fit around you. My god, when did you become so selfish?”
“That’s not fair, Harry. Please stop yelling at me.”
“No. I'm mad and I have every right to be and if I want to yell in my own home then I’m damn well going to!”
“I'm sorry. How can I fix this? Please, just let me fix this,” she begged.
“You can start thinking about anyone but yourself for starters.”
“Do you really think that? That I’m selfish? That I don’t think of you?”
“You’ve made it pretty bloody obvious lately, haven’t you? There’s a reason we're here in London. There’s a reason you’re pregnant with a kid that’s not ours.”
“Both things that you agreed to,” she reminded him.
“I guess I just didn’t realize I was agreeing to everything being all about you.”
At that, something in her snapped and the anger rose in her to meet her husband's temper. “Is it all about me Harry? or is it that for the first time in our marriage, I don’t revolve around you like you're the sun? Is your little narcissistic ego bruised because I’m doing something for me for once?”
“This isn’t about my ego. This is about yours! This is supposed to be a partnership. We’re supposed to be doing things together. But you seem pretty happy off on your own.”
“We can’t be joined at the hip! That’s not healthy,” Rori yelled. “I’m more than just your wife or the girl who plays piano in your band.”
“You’ve made that painfully clear. Honestly I don’t even know why I’m here.”
Aurora felt like she’d been slapped. She’d known Harry had been angry for weeks. She’d known that something was wrong between them, but she hadn’t realised how much he had grown to resent her. She felt so betrayed by him in that moment that she lashed out, saying the worst thing she could in that moment. “Why are you then?” she screamed. “If you want to be in LA writing your next big hit then just go! Don’t let your selfish wife hold you back. You just go and live your rockstar dreams and surround yourself with people desperate to make it all about you.”
“You know what? I will.” Without another word, Harry turned on his heel and stormed out of the apartment, slamming the door behind him, the sound echoing in the dead silence left in his wake.
The silence that was finally broken by the smashing of the glass fruit bowl as Aurora lashed out at it, causing it to fly off the end of the kitchen counter and shatter against the tile floor. She looked at the broken shards for a moment before turning on her heel and heading to their bedroom, angrily throwing herself onto the bed that smelt of her and Harry.
xXx
She barely slept, unable to stop Harry’s angry words from swirling around her head. She felt so defeated and so incredibly guilty for not seeing how much her actions had been affecting him. Of course she knew that Harry’s feelings were his own responsibility and that he was being unfair to accuse her of being selfish for taking the X Factor job, or for being her parents' surrogate. He should have talked to her about how he felt about the changes they had made recently, but that didn’t stop her feeling guilty for hurting him, whether she’d meant to or not.
By the time she heard the front door open, she’d decided that the best thing for them would be for Harry to go to LA and write while she stayed and finished the show. She climbed out of bed, still wearing the clothes from the day before, and met him in the living room. He looked awful, his clothes disheveled and his hair a mess. Even from a few feet away, she could smell the bourbon wafting off him and she wondered if he was still drunk.
“I’m so sorry for last night,” she began, her voice soft in the awkward atmosphere.
“Rori…” Harry began with a gravely, pleading tone.
“No, please let me go first,” she interrupted. “I let you down last night and I feel terrible for it.” Harry’s head dropped lower as she spoke, unable to meet her eye and his guilt was painfully clear to see, but she pushed on regardless. “While I think a lot that you said last night was out of line, you were also right about some things too.”
“Rori, please just let me…” Harry tried again.
“Harry, I think you should go to LA to write,” Rori continued. “You can stay at Dad’s Malibu house and you can work on the next album and I actually think it could be really healthy for us to have some time apart for a few weeks or a couple of months. I mean most couples don’t work together every day and maybe we just need to reestablish ourselves as individuals.”
“Rori I slept with someone,” Harry confessed. She froze, shocked beyond words and unsure what to do. “I was so angry when I left here that I went straight to a club and I got so black out drunk and this girl was all over me and I hate myself.”
“You need to leave,” she finally said.
“Rori, baby. I’m so sorry. I was so stupid and I don’t…” Harry began.
“I said you need to leave,” she repeated quietly. “Go to LA, get a hotel, go stay with Anne. I don’t care where you go but I want you out of this house.”
“Baby, please.”
“Harry, I swear to god if you don’t start packing a bag, I will. I love you, but I don’t want to even look at you right now.”
“Let’s just talk about this.”
“GET OUT!” she screamed, finally unleashing the pain that was burning its way through her chest. “Get out and don’t come back until I’m ready. I mean it Harry, if there is any chance for us to save this, then you need to give me space.”
She didn’t give him a chance to respond as she headed for the door, grabbing her coat and bag on her way out the door. She didn’t pause to put on shoes, simply scooping them up as she walked out barefoot.

Chapter 2: trope: identity reveal
The first time Rhodey meets Peter Parker, it’s barely six months after the whole shitshow in Germany and he’s checking in to make sure Tony isn’t drunk off his ass or loopy with caffeine and sleep deprivation again. The second time he meets Peter Parker, the kid’s cooking in Tony’s kitchen like he’s been there his whole life. The third time he meets Peter Parker, he’s bleeding out on Tony’s couch, and that’s not even the weirdest thing about this kid. Or, five times Rhodey doesn’t figure out Spider-Man’s identity and one time he does.

anyone want to hear my alternate Peter Stark take on him becoming Spider-Man
okay imagine peter as the only child of tony and pepper stark, growing up incredibly smart and with parents that used to be superhero and his dad even saved the world from Thanos!
But after losing his arm, tony chose to retire from being ironman and moved with his wife to their lake house to start a family.
Due to the secluded nature of the house and the expanse of property it sits on, Peter hardly meets anyone his own age besides the tourists that live on the other side of the lake and they change every summer
He devours as much information as he can get his hands on from Jarvis and there’s a whole lab setup in the bottom two floors of the house that occupies most of his time
Pepper is still CEO of Stark Industries and Tony sits on the board and still designs products but both of them are extremely protective of their son and have no intention of taking him out into the world that still seems to have so many threats (they both agree on this when Peter is a baby/toddler but as he gets older, Pepper softens and thinks Peter needs more freedom and socializing while Tony remains firm that Peter is safe and has everything he needs where they are)
Peter’s only consistent friend is Harry Osborn, who is around every summer when they’re kids because his dad’s lake property borders theirs.
The summer Peter turns sixteen, Harry invites him to spend a weekend in the city with him and his father. After an extensive knock down drag out argument, Peter’s allowed to go since Pepper is returning to the city that same weekend and he has to spend the nights with his mom (but Pepper lifts that rule as soon as they’re away from the city since she’s going to be working overtime)
And that Friday trip to Oscorp and an experiment with a radioactive spider change verything.
The bite doesn’t just mean he’s shuffled home early after a visit with the doctor to make sure he’s okay. It means later that night alone in his room again, he begins experiencing changes (Peter can now turn off Jarvis’ access to his room after a particularly embarrassing incident with Tony bursting in on Peter masturbating after Peter’s elevated vitals tripped a sensor in the programming)
Although the incident with the bite is hushed from the press, it forces an already shaky Oscorp to the brink and suddenly Pepper and Tony are called to the city for an emergency board meeting about accusations of corporate sabotage and threats against Stark Industries
Peter takes the time to explore his new skills, from sticking to the walls to shooting webs from his wrists to his greatly enhanced senses. He starts designing and creating a suit. Because he’s going to prove to his dad he can do it. He doesn’t need to be protected like a helpless damsel, he can stop bad guys.
He’s no longer Peter Benjamin Parker Stark, he’s Spider-Man.

had a little projecting moment today, so i do get anxious about school. even if good things happen at school, i just HATE the environment of it. i truly hate talking about school (or anything academic related) but here i am lmao, what if peter would be somewhat like me, difference is that he has a reputation to uphold? perfect grades, burnt out student, total genius. it just drives him insane and his two boyfriends have had enough of it. (talking about college student!peter)
"this isn't you peter. this isn't the little boy we love, what have you become?"
"peter, let others have a chance to answer, dear boy. this isn't a competition."
"YES. IT IS."
"that's it mister, you're either going to live a life or drown yourself in self sabotaging yourself."
"these studies of mine... are my life! you don't understand, it's what i do for a living!"
-🪐
*nervous laugh* peter’s last reply is exactly how i think too😭😭✌🏻✌🏻
Stephen and Tony better rally around him and support him!! What helped me is for someone to help me maintain a balance: keep studying but finding time to do other things that make me happy. Plus, slowly but surely help make an identity and selfworth that doesn’t develop only on academic success🥺🥺💗💗

warnings:
a/n: me writing this while completely burnt out from school
requested by @mymelodymia
“Kid.” Tony bumped the door of your bedroom open with his hip, holding a bag of McDonald’s in each hand and staring at you patiently. You said nothing, just set down your homework and sat up from your bed. “It’ll be there when we’re done. There’s ice cream in the fridge, too.” Your dad motioned for you to come along and took you to the living room where the movie you were dying to see—which didn’t come out for another month—was currently paused on your screen.
“Really?” You chuckled and sat down on the couch. “Did you call the director? Again?”
“Me and him go way back, he’ll do whatever I ask him. Ready?” Tony asked, just as he heard the front door open. “Oh, crap, I thought she was working late.”
“It is late.” Pepper overheard him and kissed him on the forehead as she walked by. “You better have gotten me some food, too.” You and your dad laughed, but his laughter was more of remorse as he handed his bag off to her. “Y/N, are you excited? I wish I had study breaks like this when I was in school.”
“Shh. Sh. Sh. The movie’s starting.” Tony lowly bothered her as he pressed play and she sat beside him. “Time to relax.”

It’s been a month.
A whole month since you, Nebula, and Tony were stuck on the Milano spaceship.
Tony was getting frustrated and worried about you because you refused to eat. You had told them ever since day one that you were a super soldier and that you had withstood long periods of starvation without a problem. But Tony was still doubtful and he felt that you were lying only so he and Nebula could get some food. He worried too much which would turn into anger and frustration because he was helpless. He couldn’t do anything to save you all. He couldn’t repair the damage inflicted on the ship and you were stuck, unable to fly anymore.
It was eating him from the inside out that he couldn’t help his own daughter who was growing weaker and weaker by the day.
Your wounds from Thanos were so grave and you were just so exhausted and drained that even your enhanced healing abilities couldn’t properly heal you which allowed an infection to settle in. And not eating was making you even weaker. You were nothing more than a normal human now – a normal human who was slowly dying in his arms.
“Hey, you,” whispered Tony as he entered your room. The room used to belong to a woman called Gamora but you had crashed into it after taking the ship.
You were currently lying on a bed, something you had been doing for a long time now, covered by blankets in a futile attempt at warming you. The raging fever was making you so cold. Colder than the Siberian fields you had crossed.
“Hey,” you whispered, sending him a smile, your eyes staying closed. They were too heavy. You felt a sudden prickling sensation on your arm and you guessed it was time for your medication. Tony and Nebula had been surprised to find out that Quill had an impressive stock of medical supplies on the ship and they had tried their best to keep your state stable. Recovery was agonizingly slow, though.
“How are you feeling today?” asked the man and you hummed.
“A bit better.”
He smiled. You didn’t need to look at him to know that he did. You two had gotten very good at such types of communication. You could just feel him, his energy, and he could just feel you. Just like how you were exceedingly good at communicating through your eyes only. You could hold a whole detailed conversation just by looking at one another and moving your eyebrows.
“I, uh, bear good news! You’ll be… out of your misery soon,” he sniffed. “We all will.”
“Charming,” you let out a weak chuckle. “Let me guess. Oxygen is ending soon,” you struggled to do so, but you finally cracked your eyes open and looked at him.
He had gotten thinner and weaker, you noticed. You felt concern but at the same time relief. Because death would soon embrace you all and you would finally rest in peace. The only thing that was bugging you was that you would die with many regrets and unfinished business.
And with unredeemed sins.
Suddenly, hot waves crashed on your skin and you gasped, body convulsing. Tony flinched as he quickly took another needle and filled it with a light purple liquid. Finding the needed vessel, he didn’t hesitate to pierce it and pump the drug inside. A few seconds later, you calmed down.
Things like that would occur occasionally. You would suddenly get extremely cold then the temperature would jump and you’d feel extremely hot. Ice and fire would dance in you and cause a hurricane.
Tony sighed shakily as he grabbed a cloth and dampened it in cold water, tapping your face with it a few times before settling it on your forehead.
“It’s ok,” he choked. “Everything’s gonna be ok,” he caressed your face and leaned to kiss the crown of your head before he climbed in the bed and brought you closer. With whatever strength you had left, you snuggled to your father’s side and let his presence wash away all the fear. You knew he was not telling you something, but for all your genius, you couldn’t understand what it was.
The oxygen was ending soon and he knew that you had realized that. You even told him it out loud. But what you didn’t know was that ‘soon’ was too close for comfort. In fact, ‘soon’ was coming in mere hours.
And he couldn’t tell you.
He didn’t want to tell you that death would snatch you all away in the morrow. He didn’t want you to die terrified. And despite your efforts at hiding it, he knew that you were.
“Sleep… sleep now,” he muttered as he tightened his arms around you and you nuzzled in the crook of his neck. The least he could do was comfort and warm you. He knew you always slept better when he was close by. He managed to drive both fear and nightmares away. The least he could do was help you die in peace. And the only way for you to die peacefully was in your sleep.
Not much time passed and he felt you relax as your breathing evened out. He planted one more kiss on the crown of your head before he stood up and moved to the other room.
“Hey,” he murmured and the blue woman nodded her head.
“You should be with Y/N,” she rasped out and his lips twitched as he turned to glance in the direction of your room for a second before back at the alien.
“Oh, I’m going back to her… I just… I don’t want to leave you alone either,” he told her offhandedly and she raised her eyebrows in surprise. “I uh, actually came to invite you to join our sleepover party,” he said with fake enthusiasm and she looked at him with wide eyes. He sat down on the floor next to her and both stared at the window and what was beyond it – the stars.
“I’ll go grab my pillow,” she finally uttered and he nodded, watching as she stood up and left for her room. He stayed for a while, staring at the galaxy stretching in front of him, trying to keep his emotions and tears at bay. He failed. He failed the universe. He failed his friends and teammates. He failed Pepper. But most importantly, he failed his own child. In the end, he didn’t break the vicious cycle of bad parenting. He was just as failure a father as Howard had been.
Just as he was about to stand up and go back to Nebula and his daughter, a bright light blinded him. It was coming closer and closer and closer. The energy it was giving off was no different than that of an actual star.
Then he managed to look past the glow with squinted eyes and see the shape of a woman who was staring at him with concern and regret. And then she dove down and a second later he felt the ship shake as it began moving once again.
He was shocked at first but the shock melted into hope as a wide smile stretched from ear to ear. He rushed to the other room, almost bumping into Nebula, and he excitedly told her and, now woke from the sudden jerking movements you, about what just happened. Relief flooded all three of you as you shared a group hug.
Tumblr media
A few hours had passed since the appearance of the strange woman. For a second there, as the oxygen was getting thinner and thinner and it was getting harder to breathe, you had begun losing the hope you had built previously. But then you saw the familiar sight of planet Earth.
The joy and relief were indescribable.
You entered the atmosphere and not long after the ship was landing on the lawn of the Avengers Facility.
The people who had been inside had felt the tremors and had run out, wondering what was happening. When they saw the spaceship, their thoughts immediately went to Tony, you, and the others. Who else could be on that ship after all?
They gathered in front of the Milano with hopeful faces.
Then the doors opened and the fresh familiar Earthly oxygen flooded in. You took large, much-needed gulps and let more smiles grace your faces. Tony insisted on you being taken out first but both he and Nebula were too weak. They could barely stand on their feet, much less carry another person so Tony opted to rush, more likely stumble, out of the spaceship to ask for help. The moment he stepped out, he was swarmed by his teammates and surprisingly hugged by Steve, all previous animosity vanishing.
“I lost the kid,” he muttered and Steve’s arms squeezed him. “Pepper…is she?” he asked, dreading the answer, but then the strawberry-blonde showed up breathless and latched onto him for dear life.
“Tony… where is Y/N?” asked slowly Natasha with glistening eyes filled with worry and dread, and he nodded back at the ship.
“She’s inside but her condition is pretty bad. Someone has to… someone has to go get her and bring her to the medical facility at once,” he spoke quickly and shakily and Thor immediately rushed inside the ship.
He harshly opened the doors and peeked in all rooms before he finally found you in one of them, lying on the bed, looking so vulnerable. It sent tremors down his spine. You looked to be on the brink of death and it was their fault.
No. Thanos’ fault.
No. Their fault.
He rubbed his temple in order to disperse the forming headache before he gently pulled the blankets away. His heart dropped. There wasn’t even a single spot that wasn’t covered in bandages.
“Thor,” you whispered with a small smile and he gulped, smiling back at you the best he could.
“Hey, my lady,” he then gently lifted you, trying his best to ignore the quiet whimpers of pain, and moved slowly so as to not jerk you too much, exiting the ship and joining the rest. Natasha couldn’t hold back a tear when her eyes landed on your broken form and the woman moved closer to you, now safely and comfortably tucked in Thor’s arms, caressing gently your cheek.
“How did we get here, huh?” you asked wobbly as your own tears escaped and Natasha managed a broken smile.
“We fought...We lost,” were the words that barely left her lips. “But we’ll fix everything,” she promised and you nodded, your lips still trembling as more tears leaked.
“Blonde suits you,” you whispered and Natasha chuckled, leaning down and pecking you on the cheek.
“C’mon, kiddo. Let’s get you fixed, hm?” spoke Tony softly as he approached the three and caressed his daughter’s head, wiping your tears with his thumbs. You gulped, nodding, and he sent you a weak smile, leaning down to kiss your forehead before stepping away and letting Thor move forward as everyone started walking inside the Facility.
Tumblr media
Steve and Thor helped Tony. They brought him to the nearest bathroom and showered him, getting rid of all the dirt and grime. Then they put him in new clothes.
Meanwhile, Pepper, Natasha, and the new woman – Carol Danvers was her name – helped wash you up, but instead of putting you in fresh clothes, like how the guys did with Tony, they put you in a hospital gown because you needed to have more IVs plugged into you than Tony needed and your freshly bandaged wounds would need to receive more treatment very soon.
Bruce forced both of you onto wheelchairs afterward and even when he insisted you were admitted into the infirmary so you could rest, recover, and be treated more thoroughly, you insisted to be part of the gathering first.
You and Tony attracted looks of pity as you rolled into the big meeting room. You were both so skinny and fragile that everyone worried that you’d crumble at any second now.
“It’s been twenty-three days since Thanos came to Earth,” spoke softly Rhodey, followed by Natasha.
“World governments are… in pieces. The parts that are still working are trying to take a census and it looks like he did… He did exactly what he said he was gonna do,” she spoke grimly as multiple familiar faces appeared on the hologram screens, one of them being Peter, making Tony and you look down and place your heads in your hands in total defeat, guilt, and sorrow. “Thanos wiped out… 50% of all living creatures.”
“Where is he now? Where?” asked Tony and Steve shook his head.
“We don’t know. He just opened a portal and walked through.”
“What’s wrong with him?” Tony pointed at Thor, who was sitting on a stool next to your wheelchair, his gaze focused on the floor, his elbows on his knees. You were sending him concerned glances that would occasionally flicker to Tony to make sure he was doing all right. Seriously, you just worried too much for these two men.
“Ah, he’s pissed,” answered Rocket. “He thinks he failed. Which of course he did, but there's a lot of that goin' around, ain't there?”
“Honestly, at this exact second, I thought you were a Build-A-Bear.”
“Maybe I am.”
“We’ve been hunting Thanos for three weeks now. Deep space scans, and satellites, and we’ve got nothing,” sighed Steve before his eyes fully landed on Tony and then on you. “Tony, Y/N, you fought him,” he stated and the two in question turned to look at the soldier with furrowed eyebrows.
“Who told you that?” asked Tony. “We didn’t fight him… No. He wiped my face with a planet and broke every bone in my daughter’s body and then almost choked her to death-” he sneered as his nose scrunched up, causing everyone to flinch as their eyes widened at the revelation of the battle that the Starks had led against the Titan. “-while the Bleecker Street magician gave away the store. That’s what happened. There was no fight,” he accentuated the last word and Steve nodded.
“Ok. Did he give you any clues? Any coordinates? Anything?” Tony just made a mind-blow motion with his hand and Steve sighed as he turned to face you. “What about you, Y/N/N? Do you remember anything?”
“I…uh…” you stuttered as your eyebrows furrowed in concentration which only brought a headache, making you wince as your hand flew to grasp your head. Tony snorted in irritation as he glared at Steve accusingly.
“Yeah, tough luck asking her. I mean, it’s not like the grape didn’t use her for a fly swatter. It’s not like she spent two months on a ship going through infections and fever. Like, can you not torment my kid with pointless questions, Rogers?! As if Thanos would reveal any coordinates to anyone. Are you kidding me?! We got nothing!” spat out Tony and everyone looked down. Thor’s eyes landed on you again and he grasped your shaking hand. You gave him a tired smile through watery eyes and looked at your lap once again.
“I saw this coming a few years back,” muttered Tony after a minute of silence. “I had a vision. I didn’t wanna believe it. I thought I was dreaming.”
“Tony, I’m gonna need you to focus,” continued Steve but Tony interrupted him.
“And I needed you. As in past tense. That trumps what you need. It’s too late, buddy… Sorry,” he said as he stood up. “You know what I need? I need to shave,” he grit out as his hand crashed down the bowl and mug in front of him as he wanted to support himself from falling, using the table. You straightened in the wheelchair, wanting nothing more than to get up and go help your father before he did something that would threaten his health…again.
“And I believe, I remember telling-” he started as he struggled to remove his IV.
“Tony, Tony, Tony!” came in Rhodey’s warnings but he didn’t pay any heed to them.
“-why otherwise, that what we needed was a suit of armor around the world. Remember that? Whether it impacted our precious freedoms or not. That’s what we needed!”
“Well, that didn’t work out, did it?” asked Steve
“I said we’d lose. You said ‘We’ll do that together too’,” he imitated Steve’s speech perfectly. “Well, guess what, Cap. We lost. And you weren’t there. But that’s what we do, right? Our best work after the fact? We're the Avengers? We're the Avengers? Not the Prevengers?” he asked as he whirled to look at each member.
“Ok, you made your point. Now sit down, please,” said Rhodey sternly as he tried to grab Tony and help him sit but the man wouldn’t budge.
“No, no. Here’s our savior… She’s great by the way,” he said as he pointed at Carol, and Rhodey was now actively holding Tony and trying to force him to sit down.
“Tony, sit, sit down!”
“We need you. You’re new blood. Bunch of tired old mills… I got nothing for you, Cap. I got no coordinates, no clues, no strategies, no options… Zero. Zip. Nada. No trust, liar,” he grit out in Steve’s face as his hand flew to his chest, ripping out the arc reactor, causing you to quickly stand up alarmed, only to get dizzy as your legs shook. Thor shot up and grabbed you by the shoulders, steadying you as he watched both you and Tony with concern.
“Here, take this. You find him and you put that on,” he growled as he shoved the glowing piece into the captain’s chest. “You hide,” he muttered as he stumbled and slumped on the ground, Rhodey barely catching him.
“Tony!”
“Dad!”
“I'm fine. I...” he waved you off but before he could reassure you that he was alright, he collapsed.

SkyFire 3: Chapter 17
The Judges House: August 2018
Word count: 2.2k
SkyFire 3 MASTERLIST
Before leaving London at the end of August, Aurora made an appointment with her obgyn and had a series of blood tests and ultrasounds completed to confirm whether or not she was pregnant after the first round of insemination.  Once she received the results, she and Harry flew to New York ahead of the contestants and crew so that they could spend a few days with Rori’s parents and the rest of the Avengers.
As always, Aurora was overjoyed to be home and the moment she stepped out of the elevator and into the penthouse, she was swept up in a bone crushing hug by Steve, as had become their tradition. He barely set her back on her feet before Tony pulled her against him in a tight hug of his own.
“Careful, you two,” she warned. “There’s precious cargo on board.”
They both pulled back from the hug for a moment in confusion, staring at her for a moment  as they processed her words, and she was glad she’d thought to ask Harry to film this on his phone when she saw the way both Steve and Tony’s eyes welled with tears as her words sank in.
“Really?” Steve croaked, his voice thick with emotion.
“Really,” Aurora replied with a grin that had her cheeks aching. “I’m pregnant.”
They pulled her back towards them in a hug, although she noticed the way they squeezed her a little less this time.
“I don’t understand,” Steve mumbled in confusion, his brows pinched tightly together. “All of the specialists told us that this was going to take several rounds…”
“I guess they never took into account that super soldier serum of yours babe,” Tony replied as they all headed for the living room sofas.
“I just can’t believe it’s really happening,” Steve admitted. “We’re having a baby.”
The rest of the day was spent with neither Steve nor Tony more than a few meters from Rori at any moment, and neither of them could stop thanking her continuously as the day passed. Eventually the sun set and the rest of the Avengers started appearing in the Penthouse as dinner neared. Aurora had set herself up on a barstool at the breakfast bar so that Steve could prepare dinner without feeling too far from her.
xXx
Originally Tony had planned for he and Steve to vacation in Miami for the week while Rori would be filming in the Tower so that they would be out of the way, but with the news of the baby they decided to stay in NYC. They had accepted that with Aurora in London for the show, they would miss a great deal of the pregnancy so they were eager to make the most of her being home in New York briefly and were already planning their visits to London over the next few months. For her part, Rori took their smothering in stride as she knew that they were just excited.
They had almost a full day to dote on her after the announcement the previous evening before the film crew arrived and started setting up in the living room of the penthouse, ensuring that the wide expansive view of Central Park would be perfectly captured in the back of the shot. While all of this preparation was done, the contestants flew in from London and were sent off on a sightseeing tour of the city before they got to work early  the following day.
xXx
That next morning, the contestants were filmed walking through Central Park before they exited at the Maine Monument in the shadow of Avengers Tower. They all acted surprised when Aurora was standing on the street corner to greet them, rushing forward to hug their mentor.
“So what do you think of my city, Girls?” Rori asked. The answering squeals caused her to chuckle before gesturing for them to cross the road. “Come on, let’s go.”
There was no faking the shock and awe of the young girls as they entered the lobby of the tower and then took the private elevator up to the Penthouse floor. Rori remembered well her own feelings of awe when she stepped out of the lift and into the Penthouse for the first time. It had been before the remodel after the Battle of New York, but the impact was still much the same. The camera’s captured the excitement and awe on the contestants faces as they took in the opulent room and the glass wall which provided the sweeping view of Central Park laid out beneath them. Aurora took a moment to take in the familiar locations she could see bordering the park. The Aquavella gallery, her old high school LaGuardia High, the Belvedere Castle, and off in the distance she could just catch a glimpse of the Columbia campus.
“Welcome to Manhattan, Girls,” Aurora announced, “and welcome to Avengers Tower. So far in the competition it’s all been about being on stage and performing in front of big crowds, but today I want to strip all of that back and just really get a sense of who each of you are. What I’m looking for today is your passion, your range and your control. If you can deliver that, then I know you’ll be able to take on the live shows and take it all the way to the finals.”
The girls all looked amongst themselves anxiously before following Aurora over to the couches arranged for them in the living room. Rori didn’t join them on the couch, and instead walked over to where the chairs were set aside. “Of course, picking who will be joining me in the live shows is a really big decision and one I definitely can’t make alone, so I’ve got a special guest joining us to help me judge your performances today. He’s an award winning, multi-platinum selling artist, who has performed sold out shows on almost every continent, but most importantly of all he’s the opinion in trust more than my own, Girls please give a warm welcome to my husband, Harry Styles.”
“It’s lovely to meet you all,” Harry said once the excited squeals had died down. “I’ve been exactly where you are now and I know how terrifying this moment is. Just remember that you made it this far because you have something special and that you’ve earned your place. Just sing from the heart and you’ll be ok.”
“Molly, I’d love for you to kick things off for us love,” Rori announced once she and Harry had taken their seats. “Why don’t you introduce yourself, and tell Harry a bit about yourself?”
As each girl took their turn in front of Aurora and Harry, she grew more and more uncertain about who she wanted to pick to continue in the competition. Each of the contestants had incredible voices and moving stories and Rori hated the idea of being the person to take their dream away from them. She was relieved when they finished filming the girls segments and they were ushered out of the Tower to have dinner on the upper east side.
“Harry, what am I going to do?” Rori asked once the elevator lifts slid closed. “How on earth am I going to pick who to send home?”
“I think you have to trust your gut love,” Harry replied, conscious of the camera’s still capturing every moment of their conversation. “They each have something special, but they also have a lot to learn. Which of them do you think you can teach?”
“I feel like Bella has something special about her,” Rori mused. “She’s got such an energy and I want to see where we can take that together.”
“One down, 3 to go,” Harry nodded. “Shan has an incredible voice and she’s clearly got a lot of guts to come here today and sing an original song in front of you.”
“And it was good,” Rori agreed. “So Bella and Shan are in, which only leaves 2 more spots.”
“Any ideas?”
“None,” Aurora admitted, “They are all fantastic. I have no idea what to do.”
“Why don’t we go join them for dinner and then you can sleep on it and maybe you’ll feel more sure of your choice in the morning.”
Aurora agreed with her husband's plan and they both left the tower with the camera crew in tow to join the 6 girls for dinner.
xXx
The following day Aurora walked a few blocks from the tower with one of the camera crew to accompany her as she headed off to meet with her contestants. It was a sunny day and she silently hoped that she looked as confident as she was pretending to be as she walked down 7th avenue. The 6 Girls were waiting for her on the side walk when she arrived and she happily accepted the group hug. “Ladies, welcome to one of my favourite places in New York, the famous Carnegie Hall. Let’s head inside.”
They were guided through the building and out onto the main stage, looking out over the empty rows of red velvet chairs. The contestants looked around in awe, and Aurora herself found it all a bit breathtaking. “Some of the greatest musicians in history have stood on this stage and commanded their audience. Each of you, for your own personal reasons, dreams of your moment, and while 4 of you will have the opportunity to continue on this journey with me, unfortunately 2 of you will not be joining us in the live shows.”
The 6 contestants instinctively reached for each other, all holding hands and their breath for what Aurora would say next.
“Harry and I deliberated this decision for a very long time last night and even this morning on the walk over here, I still wasn’t 100% certain I’ve made the right choice, but one thing we did decided on is that Harry’s least favourite part of being a contestant back in the day was waiting in another room as one by one each person got told their fate. So I won’t put you through all that and instead I’m just going to tell you all together. Bella and Shan… You will be joining me in the live shows.”
Bella launched herself into Shan’s arms, both girls gripping each other tightly as they celebrated.
“But of course that only leaves 2 more places on my team,” Rori pointed out as the tension continued to build. “Maria and Georgia… I’m sorry ladies, but this isn’t your year. Congratulations Scarlett and Molly.”
There were a lot of tears following her announcement and Rori was quickly pulled into hugs.
“I’m so sorry,” she told the illuminated contestants. “I’m so sorry, please don’t give up after this.”
xXx
Aurora and Harry remained in New York for a few more days and while they were still in town, the first Audition episodes began airing. Aurora was nervous for the audience response, given how a lot of people had been very vocal on Twitter when she was announced as a judge.
◊Ella: Here as always with the latest episode of ‘what you missed on twitter’
◊Aurora: God do I even want to know?
◊Ella: People think you’re funny and the directioners are loving seeing you and Lou together.
◊Aurora: What… no hate?
◊Ella: eh, there’s always gonna be some loud arseholes but they're in the minority
◊Aurora: What are they saying?
◊Ella: Nope. We’re focusing on the good comments and we’re ignoring the dickheads.
◊Aurora: That means it’s pretty bad…
◊Ella: You’re your own worst enemy. Let’s have coffee when you’re home on Thursday and I’ll give you the full run down in person yeah?
◊Aurora: Fine. I’ll settle for Thursday. Meet you at the stag at 4?
◊Ella: Make it 4:30 and I’ll see you there.
◊Aurora: Love you E.
◊Ella: Love you too, A.
xXx
After returning to London, the beginning of September was spent in vocal lessons with the contestants and continuing to film extra video packages for upcoming episodes. More of the audition episodes aired and the public started picking out favourites among the contestants. They also seemed to love the dynamic between Louis and Aurora.
The pair  were having lunch together one afternoon at the studios where the show was based when Simon approached them.
“Have either of you been on Twitter lately?” he asked after sitting down at their table.
“I left Twitter years ago,” Rori answered, sparing a quick glance at Louis while they both tried to figure out what Simon wanted. “What’s wrong?”
“Oh nothing’s wrong,” Simon replied. “Quite the opposite actually. The audience is loving you two during the auditions. So I want you to lean into your friendship and really act it up when we start the live shows.”
“We’re not acting Simon,” Louis scoffed.
“If people liked the way we interact, shouldn't we just keep being ourselves?” Rori added.
“Of course,” he backtracked. “I’m not trying to say you should fake anything and obviously you're very close. I just want you to lean into that and really let those interactions shine when you’re on camera.”
Louis rolled his eyes. “Yeah sure thing mate, will do.”
“Excellent,” Simon nodded with a smug grin. “I knew I made a great decision getting both of you on to judge.”
“Uggh,” Aurora scoffed after watching Simon stand up and walk away. “God he’s gross.”
"What a dickhead," Louis agreed.
