I just realized that cats are the literal embodiment of all personality disorders (which is probably why they're so amazing!):

PPD: suspicious of change

SZPD: loners & content to just chill in the same room as you for "socializing"

STPD: odd behavior

ASPD: easily annoyed

BPD: mood swings

HPD: needs attention 24/7

NPD: obviously superior

AVPD: skittish & anxious

DPD: "don't ever go away overnight ever again!"

OCPD: rigidity & stubbornness

Self dx schizotypal and schizoid culture is struggling to find the right label/description for what you're going through (autism, OCD, schizophrenia, etc.), which led to getting evaluated for autism and being told you don't have it, but then later finding that STPD and SZPD fit perfectly.

But when you try to tell your family, they don't believe you because of how many things you've questioned in trying to find answers and because of a family history of hypochondria

I'll never understand why neurotypicals are so hell-bent on forcing recovery onto disordered people. You tell someone you have a disorder and the first thing that comes out of their mouth is "okay, so how can I fix you?". It's disgusting and infantilizing, they make it very clear they don't view you as a person but purely as a problem to fix. To them, we are just a project for them to work on, a game for them to play out their saviour complex so they can feel good about themselves for helping someone they see as less than them.

What makes it even worse is when you tell the person you have a disorder that is incurable and permanent, a lifelong disorder that can't be fixed. They immediately become defensive and accuse you of playing the victim card, tell you that you don't want help you just want to be sick, or insinuate you're faking it, along with telling you that it can be cured when it isn't true because they can't cope with a problem they can't fix. They take it as a personal offense that you won't let them control you like you're their child and force you to heal as immediately as you tell them you are sick.

Something that annoys me about having both SzPD and StPD is that the traits of one disorder feed into the traits of the other. Due to my SzPD, I feel incredibly isolated and disconnected from people, I dislike having to do social activities too much, and I don't have very little close friends. This feeds into my paranoia, magical thinking and delusions from StPD. The disconnect I feel from others makes me feel like I'm an otherworldly being, it makes me feel like I'm not in the right dimension, it makes me feel like I'm an imposter and that my life isn't my own at all. This then feeds into my withdrawal, which feeds back into my paranoia, which feeds back into my withdrawal, etc. It's an endless, horrific cycle.
