A Surefly Way
Tumblr media
(Dieter x horror loving female)
Words: 716
Summary: watching an old film of Dieter’s has unexpected results (the fake film part was based on a dream)
Warnings: minor historical inaccuracies, a child cries but it’s all happy adorable fluffy goodness at the end, Dieter being Dieter
Check out masterlist here
“This corn?” Clara asked holding a can out to you.
“Yes, that’s corn.”
“Corn yummy!”
You and Clara had just returned from some errands. She enjoyed helping unpack groceries and you explained the contents as she passed them to you. Having finished with that task, you turned on the TV and left Clara in the living room to play and you set about making dinner.
“Look! Daddy!” Clara pointed excitedly at the TV.
There on the screen was your husband looking rather dapper in a pinstripe suit. You bundled that image away for later use.
“It’s a daddy story,” that was what you ended up calling films featuring your husband.
This particular one was before the two of you met. Surefly Way was set during the Second World War and supposedly about two chocolate factories. The history was dubious at best but at the heart of it was a love story so the inaccuracies could be forgiven.
Clara enjoyed watching any films with her father but never watched many of them as he hated watching himself on screen. This one was age appropriate, so you left her to it. You heard occasional dialogue and made a guess to the plot.
Miss Winslow, daughter of Mr. Winslow, owner of Winslow Chocolates is pretending to be an ordinary factory worker making ration bars for frontline troops. Unknowingly, her American fiancée, Mr. Surefly of Surefly Chocolates, arrives to help in the making of the chocolate. Having no idea what his future intended looks like, he ends up falling in love with her and she in return.
~
“Mr. Surefly is here in England? Shouldn’t he be back home in America?”
“He feels that he’d do better for the troops here. Isn’t this a good chance to meet your fiancé?”
“I’d rather not.”
“Dotty, why?”
“Because I want to fall in love. Not be sold off and shipped off to the highest bidder!”
~
“Americans? What do Americans know about chocolate?”
“Their stuff only tastes slightly better than a boiled potato.”
~
“So Mr. Surefly, is there a sweetheart waiting for you back home?”
“I do have a fiancée, but I’ve yet to meet her.”
“How have you not met the woman you’re going to marry?”
“Let’s say it’s more of a business exchange rather than an act of love.”
~
“You were pretending this whole time? Why?”
“How can I sit here doing nothing while everyone else is off fighting the war? Even the royal family are going their part.”
~
You heard the sounds of the front door as Dieter arrived back home. Clara seemed too intrigued with on-screen father to notice her actual father, so he made his way over to you.
“Clara is watching one of your films.”
“It better not be Cliff Beasts.”
“No, it’s Surefly Way,” confusion crossed his face. “World War Two? Two chocolate factories?”
He vaguely remembered filming something in that time period, so he wandered over to watch it with his daughter.
As he got closer, he saw that Clara was in tears.
“What’s wrong cupcake?”
“Daddy kiss lady,” she pointed at the screen.
It took a minute for Dieter to remember back to who was in the film with him, mainly his on-screen romantic partner. “Yes, I did kiss that lady.”
“Not mummy,” more tears ran down her cheeks and it took less than a minute for Dieter to decipher the toddler code.
“Oh, cupcake,” he pulled her close. “That was mummy I was kissing. She swapped out with that lady.”
You had just walked into the room, so Dieter turned to you.
“That was you I was kissing, wasn’t it?”
“Yes,” you nodded. “They always swap me out if there’s kissing.”
Clara wiped her face, “You love mummy?”
“Yes, I love mummy so much and she’s the only lady I kiss. But you get kisses too because you’re my sweet baby girl.”
He kissed her cheek, his beard tickling her turning her sobs into giggles.
Later on, she went to bed happy knowing that her parents still loved each other, sometimes a bit too much.
“Nice save.”
“I learned from the best,” he kissed your cheek.
“So when is she going to learn the truth about it?”
“Oh, when she’s older. Like, fifty.”
“We’ll definitely be dead by then.”
“Well then, she’ll never know.”

My Monthly Favs What’s in my cup:
Every morning I drink iced coffee made from my one & only Nespresso machine. The past few months I can’t get enough of the double espresso blend, and then I add a bit of whole milk (happy cows only) and sweet cream. I can’t find anything better from Starbucks or anywhere else. Sometimes if I’m craving a hot drink, I’ll head to Dutch Bros for a hot Carmelizer and it is totally worth the cringy 9 minute forced convo with the DB crew. I also start my day with electrolytes, currently in the watermelon flavor. It’s surprisingly really delicious but I miss the Electrolyte Synergy blend that I was drinking for a long time, which has been sold out for almost a year now. :’)
What’s on my plate:
Dinner lately has been the laziest in America. After our trip, Drew & I either have the same ole chicken, rice and veggies, a spicy “mexican bowl” or some form of pasta, usually with Raos Arriabatta sauce. This week we’ve been stuffing our faces with Trader Joe’s frozen meals. We promise to be better next month, but we are really exhausted and the last thing we feel like planning are meals. However, for the last week of December we actually have some things planned for the holiday weekend. On Friday, we’re hitting up the town as we do every year to walk around and see the lights, and find festive little bars to try out new Christmas cocktails. We plan to spend Christmas with just the two of us. For Christmas Eve we are making our annual corn beef, cabbage and carrots because apparently we are super Irish (confirmed by 23&me which btw leaked all my genes to hackers). On Christmas we are having tri-tip, garlic & butter brussel sprouts, and mashed potatoes. The Christmas cookies we’re making this year include White Chocolate Cherry Shortbread cookies, Peanut Butter Blossoms, & Holly Leaves. Okay and now that I’ve told you all that, the Christmas cocktails we decided on this year are The Mistletoe Kiss (a vodka, soda water, rosemary & cranberry drank) and Bad Santa White Russians. I also heard that Moon X Pinot Noir from Trader Joes was really good and lately the Redvolution just isn’t doing it for me.  Let me know if you want any of these recipes, ladies. I will make sure to find GF, DF, and V options.
What’s on my bookshelf:
I’ve finished two of the Colleen Hoover books, and now I’m reading another one of hers called Verity. It’s kinda depressing but that’s kinda the vibe as of late so I’m into it.
What’s in my playlist:
We love the Sia Christmas album. It’s so fun and happy. Believe it or not, Andy introduced me to it lol. It’s so good!! Other songs I’ve been into are I remember everything by Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves. It reminds me of a family member rn which is very depressing to me. Fun to cry to. Bubble - STAYC, Surround Sound - JID 21 Savage, Baby Tate, Adora Hills - Doja Cat.
What I’m up to:
Making our house into a winter wonderland of lights. Watching hella hallmark movies. Being seriously lazy, not working out or eating healthy. Walks with Snoop around the park. Mandala scratch off nightscapes. Reading at 3am when I was jetlagged. I had a sleep study this month too, no sleep apnea for me, back to mouth taping! It really does help with quality of sleep for me. You should try it! Also magnesium spray on my feet (shout out to Aly). This has helped with my restless leg syndrome that we’ve all experienced. This weekend, we’re making all our foods and cocktails, going downtown, driving around with hot choc to look at lights, and heading up to Rocky Mountain to hike a bunch of mountains.
Skincare Saviors:
My skin gets so dry in Colorado, its TERRIBLE. And now that I’m saving for a house, I had to break up with my amazing esthetician, who by the way I stole this template from. I’m obsessed with Dermlogica thanks to her. I use a miscellar water if I wore any make-up. If not, I just double clease with my face wash. In the AM I’ll use my Rosehip Triple C+E Firming  Oil, followed by COSRX snail mucin essence, and a magical mix of calm water gel and intensive moisture balance.
Love you long time,
Li

Spiced Pecan Pie Bars
Elevate Your Holiday Cookie Tradition!
Tumblr media
Ingredients for Spiced Pecan Pie Bars
With a shortbread crust and luscious filling, these spiced pecan pie bars are a warm twist on a classic. To make these bars, you'll need:
For the crust:
Baking spray with flour: To prevent the crust from sticking to the pan.
All-purpose flour: The base of the crust.
Cold unsalted butter: Pulsed into the crust mixture for a sandy, shortbread-like consistency.
Unsifted powdered sugar: The cornstarch present in powdered sugar adds to the light, sandy consistency of the crust.
Kosher salt: Balances the sweetness.
For the filling:
Large eggs: Binds the filling.
Light corn syrup: Prevents the pecan filling from crystallizing, keeping it smooth and silky.
Light brown sugar: Adds a light note of molasses.
Honey: Adds depth with a mild fruitiness. Can be substituted with agave or maple syrup if preferred.
All-purpose flour: Helps thicken and set the filling for clean slices.
Unsalted butter: Adds richness.
Ground cinnamon and ginger: Warming spices perfect for fall and winter baking. Can substitute with apple pie or pumpkin pie spice if you have those on hand.
Kosher salt: Enhances the flavor of the filling and balances the sweetness.
Pecans: Coarsely chopped for pecans in every bite.

How To Make Spiced Pecan Pie Bars
A food processor whizzes up the crust in no time, and a quick whisk for the filling makes for a dessert with less than 10 minutes of active time. Full instructions are below, but here's a brief recap before you get started:
Step 1. Prepare the Crust: Spray a 13- x 9-inch baking pan and line bottom and sides with parchment, leaving an overhang on two sides. Process flour, butter, powdered sugar, and salt in a food processor to coarse crumbs. Press into bottom of pan and bake until golden brown, about 20 minutes.
Step 2. Prepare the Filling: Whisk together eggs, corn syrup, brown sugar, honey, flour, melted butter, cinnamon, salt, and ginger until smooth. Stir in pecans. Pour over crust.
Step 3. Bake: Bake at 350°F until set, 25 to 30 minutes. Cool completely in pan before slicing into bars.

Tips for the Best Spiced Pecan Pie Bars
A dessert this simple comes together easily, but keep these tips in mind for consistent results every time:
Use cold butter: Little bits of cold butter in the crust creates a buttery, crisp base for the bars.
Bake crust until golden brown: For a sturdy base that will bake up buttery and tender, bake until golden brown before adding the filling.
Give the filling a stir: If the filling has sat for a few minutes, give it a stir before pouring over the crust to avoid any unevenness.
Get creative: Stir in chunks of white or dark chocolate or top with flaky sea salt for a sophisticated touch.
Bake until set: Bake the bars until the filling is set (firm to the touch) before removing from the oven.
Cool completely: Cool completely, and chill if possible before cutting, for the cleanest slices.
How To Store Spiced Pecan Pie Bars
Store pecan pie bars in an airtight container or zip-top bag in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to three months. Bring to room temperature before serving.

Birthday Blurbs
I know this is a LITTLE early but it's my best friends birthday and I couldn't wait to start the celebration! Happy Birthday @glassbxttless I LOVE YOU SO MUCH AND YOU'RE LIKE MY FAVORITE PERSON. I HOPE YOUR BIRTHDAY IS AMAZING BEEB!!!

TW: mentions of anxiety, nothing other then that.
Paterson x Fem!Reader
TW: mentions of aniexty, nothing other then that.
As always if you need something tagged or I miss something please let me know!
Pat’s nervous, and honestly? He can’t remember the last time he was this nervous about something. You tell him every year that it’s just another day, nothing special but then he’s reminded about how you always manage to go so far and beyond every year for his birthday and he wants to do the same for you. He’s hoping that you like what he’s got planned for you and the kids today, that it’s as special as you make his birthday every year.
He hears a door slam and winces, hoping that Felix didn’t wake you up. Step one of the plan was to let you get caught up on sleep, he’s taken the day off of work and didn’t even tell you. He woke up a little early, hushing you back to sleep letting you know he would check on Douglas, he’s about 6 months and extra fussy now. You thank him with a sleepy kiss to the fingers that are cradling your face and fall right back asleep. That was a few hours ago and now he’s already fed Douglas and helped Felix get up with hush whispers and promises that he can get extra chocolate chips in his pancakes if he doesn’t wake you up. Speaking of, Felix is now rushing into the kitchen excited that he gets to help Pat make breakfast for you.
It’s a messy affair but Paterson is thankful that they are finishing up when you wander downstairs about 45 minutes later, a little panicked that you haven’t heard Douglas fussing on the monitor or that Felix hasn’t suplexed you awake yet. You can smell coffee and sweet wafting through the air and the way Felix squeals and tackles you makes you smile. You can see Pat smiling over his bowl of corn flakes and you smile right back to him.
“What's all this, guys?” You question them as you walk over to Douglas and pluck him right out of his chair. Felix is right on your tail and you shimmy up to pat and he gives you a tender kiss right to the top of your head.
“You’re getting old mommy!” Felix is blunt but excited, the declaration makes Pat choke on his cornflakes and you handle the statement better than he does. You’re rubbing pats back as you chuckle.
“You mean it’s my birthday baby. Your mommy isn’t that old.” You smile as Felix pulls himself up into a chair at the breakfast bar where y'all eat most days and Pat’s pressing a cup of coffee right into your hand and starts plating everyone breakfast. It’s a spread, pancakes, eggs, hash browns, fruit and lots of coffee for you. You fall into breakfast easily and before you know it everyone’s plates are cleaned and Pat’s even fed Douglas again. Pat sends Felix up to get changed and you’re taking a moment to finish your coffee, happy that your hectic morning has been taken care of.
“So what's the plan today, love? I figured you have more up your sleeve then just breakfast and letting me sleep in.” You can see the way Pats ears flush when you ask him, reading him so well.
“Well honey, guess you’ll just have to see.” He turns and you’re right in his space now, wrapping your arms around his impossibly thick torso and making yourself right at home. Pat flicks the water off his hands and pulls you even closer.
“Happy birthday honey, I love you.”

The Smarter Witch pt.2
Requested by anonymous: “Maybe later that same year or the next one where the reader finally admits her feelings and tries making it a big special (but private) thing? Maybe in the astronomy tower or something but Malfoy messes it up and there is a fight? Her and mione end up together in the end?”
Pairing: Hermione Granger x fem!reader
Words: 6k
A/N - I’m arguably prouder of this part than the first!! As always comments and reblogs are appreciated. I’m very much loving my time in the Harry Potter fandom atm. credit to @euphoriainhell for checking this over!!
Warnings - Threats of violence, prejudice, bullying and swearing. I think that is it.
Part 1
Tumblr media
The whistle of the Hogwarts express signaled the official end of summer as you made your way onto the platform. Family forgotten as you scan the tidal wave of students for any familiar face but they would likely be on the train already; you were running late after all. Dropping off your luggage, you're about to board when you spot a flash of platinum blonde in the corner of your eye.
"Draco," It's hard to hear over the busy train platform as you weave through the crowd to reach him. Picking up speed as you get closer, you launch yourself onto his back. "If it isn't one of my favourite Snakes."
"Get off me," He shakes his body in an attempt to throw you off so you loosen your grip. Dropping back down to the ground.
"Aren’t you happy to see me?"
"Just get on the train," His hand slaps against your back, pushing you forward onto the train.
"Do anything exciting this summer?" You ask him as you walk through the train carriage, slipping past people as they got in your way. Checking each booth as you pass for your fellow Slytherin. They had to be on here somewhere but it was a big train.
"Not really. You?"
"Visited New York. Family had business at the American ministry." You glance back to make sure he was still walking behind. Finally, you spot Parkinson, sat in the corner by herself. It takes her a moment but when she finally sees you two, a wicked grin spreads over her lips. "It was fun though. Did some sightseeing- typical touristy shit."
"Took you two long enough, I thought you were  gonna miss the train."
"Aww she was worried about us Draco," you tease, nudging him slightly as you plop down next to her. Draco sits across from you, taking the window seat.
"where's Blaise?"
Her shoulders rose a little in response to Draco's question. "He said he forgot something and then ran off."
"I hope the train leaves without him," you jest, glancing out the window. It was beginning to calm down as the last few students boarded the train. All that was left were parents biding their final farewells. You can't imagine crying over sending your child off to school but still, you spotted tears among some.
"Without who?" Pulling your attention back, Blaise had finally shown up. He takes the space next to Draco, looking rather uninterested. Finally, the main gang was back together; not including Crabbe or Goyle.
"Definitely not my awesome friend Blaise, that's for sure," You flash a playful smile; slumping down against the seat. It was gonna be a long journey.
"You're as chipper as ever," Zabini comments, kicking your leg gently with his foot. "Not sure if that's a good thing."
"I'm just happy to be back," And you were for the most part anyway. As dull as school could be, you were excited to be going back. Not to mention you'd finally get to see Hermione again; you found yourself often wondering what she may be up to. The child of two muggles must spend her time differently, or so you assumed. You kind of missed seeing her every week; perhaps even more than you missed Draco and the others. You liked to think you don't know why but deep down there was a part of you that knew exactly why.
The conversation drifted between talks of summer plans and future endeavours. Past assignments and what was yet to be learnt. Pansy, once again, hadn't finished her summer work but that was a surprise to nobody. And after what felt like forever without interruption from the lady with the trolley, you decide you're gonna have to go search for it yourself. There was a chocolate frog calling your name right now.
"I'm gonna go get something from the trolley. Do you guys want anything?" It's a polite gesture but you kind of hoped nobody would say yes.
"I'll take a liquorice wand," Blaise requests and you nod a little.
"Draco?" His head shakes so you grab Pansy's arm and pull her along with you. It was a lot easier to navigate now that everyone was pretty much in their seats. The familiar sweet question hits your ears so you know you are close.
“Anything from the trolley?”
"You know how you finished all the homework-"
"Yes you can copy," You should have expected this when she didn't protest to bringing her along. "Just don't make it obvious because I'm not taking the fall for it. I will definitely blame you."
As you approach Honeydukes Express, the older witch is serving what seems to be a couple of Ravenclaw students. You wait for them to finish up, examining the contents as she turns to you. "Can I get.... some liquorice wands, a chocolate frog, a packet of Roasted Chimera Crisps and, do you want anything?"
Pansy takes a moment to think about it. You shift uncomfortably as a few students wait their turn behind you. "Chocolate."
"And a chocolate bar please?" You hand over the money in exchange for your sweets but the world washes away when you spot none other than Harry Potter in the booth beside you. You quickly spy Ron beside him with Hermione sat opposite. You felt the flutter of butterflies in your stomach as she laughs at something you're unaware of.
"What are you doing?" Pansy shoves you back into reality and you hit the door to the booth. All eyes fall to you and you want nothing more than to sink into the ground. Hermione smiles ever so softly and your heart leaps out of your chest. Reaching past you to collect the items you paid for, your fellow Slytherin pulls you away completely oblivious.
"What took so long?" Blaise wonders. Pansy hands over your items and tosses him his wands. You slide your chocolate frog into your pocket as you sit back down. Pulling open the crisp packet.
"Ask her, she just froze all of a sudden. It was really weird."
You absentmindedly place a crisp in your mouth, crushing it between your teeth.
"You okay?" Draco asks.
You nod a little, flashing them a tight smile that fades as you turn back to the window. It was easier to deny when you were apart but it was time to admit to yourself that you have a crush on a certain Gryffindor. Fuck.
Dumbledore stands on the podium at the front of the great hall, starting the term with his normal announcement as well as an introduction for the first years. It was an utterly boring speech that had your stomach growling in anticipation for dinner. Leaning down against the table, your head rests in the palm of your hand as you stare through the gaps between students at the Gryffindor table. You wonder where Hermione is sat; zoning out of the assembly entirely. There were moments you wished that Hogwarts didn't always have you split by houses. Of course, they weren't entirely strict policies but you'd get some strange looks if you had sat at the Gryffindor table for the first feast of the year rather than the Slytherin table. Perhaps you should care more about the first years getting assigned their houses but you felt yourself almost drifting off as you waited for dinner.
"You reckon we can swap out Millicent for one of the first years?" Pansy's voice is quiet in your ear as the table finally fills with all kinds of food. You've never been happier for a speech to be over.
"Don't be mean," An amused smile pulls at your lips but the reason behind it was unclear. You shovel food onto your plate as if it was going to disappear again if you didn't.
"What? I'm just saying" Pansy reaches over you to grab an ear of corn on the cob to add to her plate.
"What's your problem with her?"
"Nothing really. I just think we could do better, she's no fun." You'd love to know what Pansy's idea of fun was.
"I've hardly even spoken to her, to be honest," you shrug, tucking into a bread roll. "So I'd happily give her up for a first-year."
"I'm not sure how you can miss her," Your friend adds snidely. "Pathetic excuse for a Slytherin."
"You do realise she's sitting right over there," You nod your head in her direction. She's a little further down the table but not enough that she couldn't hear your conversation if she wanted to. It's very clear Pansy doesn't care though as she looks towards the girl who’s currently eating a chicken wing.
"Things would be very different if I was in charge here,"
"I dread the thought," You comment, taking a long sip of water from your goblet.
"Pansy's right," Draco interjects, you didn't even realise he was paying attention to the two of you. "This place has gone to the dogs. They let just about anyone in."
This again? It was like listening to a broken record with Pansy and Draco. Always looking down on people for not being of pure blood. "If they only let in purebloods, there'd hardly be anyone here."
"that’s right we forgot you're the resident mudblood lover." Pansy mocked, turning her attention to behind her. "Where is Granger anyway?"
"You shouldn't call people that,” It was such a foul word anyway, even when it wasn't directed at Hermione. "And how should I know? I've been with you guys since we got back."
"I don't know." The girl turns back to you. "You're the one obsessed with her."
You're about to reply but Blaise interjects first. "Leave her alone,"
"Thank you, Blaise," you're a little surprised to find him defending you regarding the matter. He tended to sit on the sidelines when it came to discussions of muggle-borns; partly because you're convinced he thinks he's just better than most people. Pureblood or otherwise. He was a very talented young wizard and very handsome. You can't help the smug expression that takes over.
"She can't help having no taste."
"I'm not even obsessed with her," you fire back defensively; a little too defensively and they all snicker. "Stop bullying me for having friends other than you guys. Just because nobody else likes you three."
"What did I do?" Draco questions, his brows knitting together. "I didn't say anything about her."
"I know but you were probably thinking it," You huff. "And you laughed."
"You can't punish me for thinking things,"
With a roll of your eyes, you stand up and leave the table. You could only deal with so much negativity at any given moment so you take a detour into the lion's den. Too many Weasley's to pick Ron out from the crowd so you keep an eye out for Potter; who for some annoying reason was sat all the way at the other side of the great hall. You push in beside him and a brand new first-year earning yourself the odd stares. Sadly, Hermione is nowhere to be seen.
"Oh great you're here," You didn't appreciate Ron's tone. You shoot him a sharp glare, he was definitely someone you hadn't missed over summer. "Draco sent you?"
"Why would Draco send me?" Like Draco would even trust you as a spy. "He doesn't care about you all that much... at least not you Ron." You flash him a tight-lipped smile. "I came to see Hermione actually, I thought she'd be with you two."
"She already went back to the dorms, said she wasn't feeling well."
You can always count on Harry not to make a snarky comment, you thank him before heading back to your friends. Pansy was the first to tease you about running off to play with the lions but you didn't really care. You'd grown used to it by now.
Your robe hangs off your shoulder and you almost drop the textbook you have tucked under your arm as you power walk through the corridors of Hogwarts. It was your first class of the semester and you were late. McGonagall was not going to be happy. As you burst through the door, there is a split second you're relieved that you don't see your professor only to remember she was an Animagus. Once a cat now morphed into one of your favourite professors right before your eyes. "You should know your way around the castle by now,"
"I woke up late,"
"See that it doesn't happen again, now take your seat."
The only space left was conveniently right next to the girl who was on your mind more often than not. You swallow hard as you trudge to the second desk on the middle row. Your heart thumps in your chest and you wonder if she can hear it too. Knowing Hermione the way you did, you wouldn't be surprised if she could.
"Never expected you to be late," The familiar whisper of her voice tickles your ear. "Finally stopped trying to prove you're better than me?"
"I overslept but that doesn't make me a bad student," The dropping of your textbook sounds so much louder in the silence. "It was Pansy's fault anyway."
"Your mistakes are your own," She says thoughtfully. Continuing to scribble notes down onto her parchment paper.
"Since we’re back, I think we should continue our tradition of playing chess on Fridays." You open your new textbook, sneaking a glance at Hermione's to figure out what page you're supposed to be on.
"Can this conversation wait,"
She started it but you don't express that; instead, you nudge her knee with yours under the desk. "It's a simple yes or no."
"I know it's exciting to be back but that's no excuse to distract other students. Please leave Miss Granger to her studies."
Again, she started it so why were you getting the blame? You look down to your textbook with a defeated sigh. "Sorry, professor."
"You'll have plenty of time to catch up later." She taps the pages of your textbook with some rolled up paper in her hand before walking away. When the coast is clear, you nudge the girl next to you again.
"So Friday then." You note the smile on her lips but she doesn't reply. In fact, she gives you the silent treatment for the rest of the class.
Come lunchtime, you're very awkwardly sitting at the Gryffindor table waiting for Hermione and her friends. The spots of green that adorns your robe stands out among all the red and you can't help but feel unwanted. Slytherin had such a bad reputation despite actually having some great witches and wizards. "I think you're at the wrong table, Slytherin is over there."
A sigh of relief slips into the air and you look up to her. She stood directly behind you, clutching her books like they were the most precious things on earth. There was a cocky grin on full display that filled your entire body with a gloriously warm feeling.
"Didn't anyone tell you I'm a Gryffindor now?" You announce as she takes up space next to you. Harry sits the other side of her, greeting you with a small hello while Ron is on the opposite side of the table completely ignoring your existence.
"Is that why you're still wearing Slytherin's colours?"
"Honourary member?" You shrug a little. "Besides I still need an answer."
"About what?" She places her books neatly on the table before her, exchanging them for a plate. Ron has already got his mouth full of god only knows what.
"Friday? Chess? Or we can do something else, I honestly don't mind."
"Sure," Hermione nods in agreement. "I'm still free at the usual time. I haven't practised much over Summer though at least not the wizard-kind."
"Then it's a date," you wink playfully trying to keep up your confident persona but in reality, your stomach was doing somersaults. She never used to have an effect on you or more accurately not to this degree. It's as they say absence makes the heart grow fonder. "You two are free to join if you like," you glance between the boys as best you can. "I assure you my fellow Slytherin friends aren't invited; they wouldn't be caught dead hanging around Granger."
"Charming,"
"They're very particular about the company they keep" You play it off as a harmless joke.
"I think what you meant to say was that they're awful people," Ron mumbles through a full mouth. He was right but you don't appreciate it when he says it; they're still your friends.
"Careful how you talk about my friends, Weasley," You warn, keeping your eyes on him for a moment before softening. "So how was your summer, Hermione?"
"You really want to know?"
You nod eagerly. "I would like nothing more. Your parents are muggles so it's like going back to a different world for you."
Like a child listening to a bedtime story, you're sat there enjoying your lunch as Hermione tells tales of her summer. There was a beautiful light behind her eyes as she spoke of her parents; you could tell she was proud of them even though they weren't wizards. You also listened to Harry and Ron talk about theirs and how they all came together with the other Weasleys at 'The Burrow'. You didn't ask for an explanation because frankly, you didn't care.
It was almost weird how quickly everything fell back into place at Hogwarts; it truly felt like you had never left. How you had missed endangering your fellow students by doing unauthorised magic outside of class. As well as the evenings spent in the Slytherin common room with your friends. As much as you hated boring classes, you even missed showing off to Hermione. She still managed to beat you in the likes of History of Magic but Potions was where you truly excelled.
With the day free, you had decided to spend it with Parkinson wandering around Hogsmeade.  It was a fine day for it and you could both do with some time away from the boys. The sun was shining bright in the sky and so the little village was relatively busy. You're on the way to Honeydukes when you notice her walking alone; at least you think it's her. "Granger?" You call out and she turns to you; as well as some other shoppers. Your expression brightens only for Pansy to elbow you sharply in the side. "What did you do that for?" You bite back a foul word, shoving your friend away and walking towards Hermione.
"Don't look too happy to see me. Where's Potter and Weasley?"
"I'm not sure," She admits, a ghost of a smile on her lips. "I didn't come with them."
"Don't have any other friends, Granger," Pansy snickering to herself. Hermione simply rolls her eyes as do you. "That's a little sad."
"You can join us if you like?" You suggest.
"What?" Pansy was clearly surprised by your offer and rightly so but you weren't going to miss out on an opportunity to hang out with Hermione.
"It's alright," You can't deny her rejection had you feeling a little disappointed. "I'm fine being alone."
"Are you sure?"
"You don't have to pity her," Pansy comments bitterly, tugging on your arm impatiently. "Can we go?"
"Go on ahead and I'll catch up." You sigh
"Fine," She spins on her heel and marches away. "Don't take forever."
"Sorry about her. She's incapable of saying nice things."
"It's alright," If you weren't mistaken her smile brightened just a little. "I've grown used to the company you choose to keep."
"I really did want you to join us," You tell her sadly. "I understand if you don't want to though. Next time we should come together."
"I don't think Pansy would appreciate my company," Hermione shifts her weight a little, dropping her gaze. "But yeah maybe another time."
"Tell you what, how about we do something later- If you're not busy of course? I know how you are about studying."
"What do you want to do?" She asks quietly.
"Uhhh..." you had no idea what you wanted to do, you just needed to talk to her. Maybe if you tell her how you feel, she'll become easier to navigate. Plus you weren't exactly one to shy away from expressing yourself for too long. "Meet me in the astronomy tower okay?"
"Why?"
"Just do it, Granger." With a wave of your hand, you go running off after Pansy. Walking through the door of the famous sweet shop, she's not too hard to spot. Stood before a display of Acid lollipops, her attention is drawn by the bell announcing your arrival.
"Where's the mudblood?" The raven-haired girl turns back to the array of sweets.
"You didn't want her to come with us," you argue, walking up beside her. You pick up an acid lollipop that was snot green in colour; amused by the idea of gifting it to Draco or something but ultimately you place it back.
"You never normally listen to me about her." She comments, picking up a pack of cauldron cakes.
"I wasn't gonna force her to join us when you hate her," It wouldn't be fun for anyone. "I'm meeting her later anyway- so it's fine."
"Oooh going on a date," Pansy teased. "I didn't know you swung that way."
"Do you have a problem with that?"
"Not at all," Pansy shook her head. "A mudblood on the other hand..."
"Not homophobic just prejudice, interesting." You chuckle. Pansy pays for her cakes but not without you adding a chocolate frog to the price; a treat for being such a git you told her. Grabbing her hand, you lead her out so you can continue the rest of your day.
You hear your name as you stroll through the courtyard on your way to meet Hermione in the astronomy tower. You'd be lying if you said you were not nervous. A quiet groan escapes as you see Draco. "Heard you got yourself a date with Granger."
"Who told you that?" You knew the answer already.
"Parkinson."
"Of course she did," you reply with an exasperated sigh.
"Didn't know you liked girls."
"It's not a date anyway," you explain. "Mind your own business."
"No offence but dating Granger of all people? I mean, I thought you at least had some standards."
"Leave me alone, Draco." You spit back.
"Someone's grumpy," His arm snakes around your shoulders, pulling you into his side. "Where are we heading?"
"I don't know where you are going," Struggling out of his grip, you push him away from you. The last thing you needed was Malfoy coming along with you. "I'm going to see Hermione."
"Fine, I'll leave you to your little date."
Your middle finger shoots up at him as you strut away. Thankfully, he seems to keep his word and doesn't follow you any longer. Ascending the steps of the astronomy tower, a shiver spills through your body as you reach the top. Hermione looks so lonely on the platform, staring out over the grounds.
"Sorry I'm late, Draco wouldn't leave me alone," You announce, the floorboards creaking a little with each step.
"I thought you weren't coming for a moment," Her voice is so light and sweet; you can practically hear the beautifully gentle smile behind it. "Why did you want to come up here anyway? It's awfully windy."
As if summoned by her voice a gust of wind attacked the two of you with its brisk bite. "I like it up here," You muse, scanning your surroundings as you walk up alongside her. Leaning down against the railing. The rolling hills of Scotland really were something to behold. "It's peaceful and pretty, not to mention far away from the dungeons."
"It is a great view." Hermione agrees, shuffling a little closer to you.
"And I wanted to talk to you." With the way your stomach sank, you were sure you'd pass out if the metal railing wasn't there.
"About?"
You hesitate, taking a deep breath as if it would somehow bring along with it some courage. You've never been this nervous in your life. "Did... you finish the... uh, Herbology homework?"
"You brought me up here to ask that?" You couldn't look at her confused face for too long. Definitely not the reason you brought her up here but you panicked and those were the words that came out. "Of course I have," She declares matter of factually. "It's due on Monday. Have you?"
You shake your head a little.
"I can help you if you like? I still have the books checked out from the library."
"I don't need help from the likes of you," You tease but your heart’s not really in it.
"Are you okay?"
"Mhmm," You nod your head, forcing yourself to look upon the girl you have grown so fond of. She makes you want to throw up but in a good way.
"Are you sure?" She looks so adorably confused. "You're acting weird."
"I'm just nervous," You admit. You spin around so you back is against the world and you can only focus on what's in this very room.
"Nervous?" She repeats although it's posed like a question. A gust of wind flows through her hair lifting it ever so slightly before it settles again. "Why do I make you nervous? We've spent hours together before."
"It's just... you're the most spectacular witch in our year and-"
"Well now I know there is definitely something wrong," She places her soft hand against your forehead and heat rushes to your face. You were now painfully aware of how close she was; she smelt... flowery with the sweetest hint of something sugary. "Such high praise- are you sick? Maybe we should take you to the hospital wing?"
You delicately remove her hand, lowering it but never letting go. You take another deep breath, long and slow. It was now or never. "I like you."
"I like you too," You meet the stars that twinkle so elegantly in her eyes. You had to get back to the dorms soon or you were both going to end up in detention.
"I like you... a lot." You gently squeeze her hand, eyes dropping to the floor out of sheer embarrassment. This wasn't how you expected things to go.
"Okay..."
"As in more than friends a lot." Your voice is but a whisper laced with the howls of the wind.
"Oh," Was all she said. You waited for more but it never came. You were scared to look at her; too scared to let go. A distant chuckle grows closer and panic spills through your veins. Hermione's hand slips through yours as you both turn to see Draco Malfoy. He clapped slowly as one by one some fellow snakes slithered behind their leader. Parkinson, Zabini and Goyle; the only one missing was Crabbe. Not that you wanted him here, in fact, why were any of them here?
"I can't believe you," Pansy starts with a bark of a laugh. You imagine Hermione must be very confused because even you have no clue where this was going? You rightfully regret telling Pansy about your plans tonight though along with Draco. They come up behind you and the Gryffindor steps away.
"Good going," Draco continues, slinging both arms around you. He wears the widest of grins as he congratulates you. Wow, maybe he was just happy that you managed to go admit your feelings. Perhaps they were just being good but nosey friends. "Didn't think you'd actually go through with it."
"Thanks," You smile warmly, embracing his touch.
"So should I tell Granger or would you like to?"
"Ooooh, can I do it?" Pansy practically jumps up and down where she stands; eager to please the alpha. You had a bad feeling about this.
"Tell me what?"
Your friends all snigger and you can feel Draco's grip around you tighten.
"That this was nothing but a dare," The lie drips from her tongue with such ease, it could be considered impressive. "We wanted to see if you'd actually believe someone could like someone like you."
"We didn't think she'd actually do it though. She's a little soft this one," Draco gently taps your chest. "Doesn't usually have the heart for it."
"Guess she finally realised she can do better than a filthy little mudblood."
You know you should say something; at the very least you should be denying what they were saying but you found yourself completely frozen.
"How pathetic can you be," Pansy stepped into view but not before you saw a single tear spill down Hermione's cheek.
"Hermione," Your voice disappears below your friends’ phoney words and bitter laughter. The Gryffindor calmly exited the tower leaving you alone with them. Red hot rage filled your body as you broke free of Draco. Each of them wore Cheshire Cat smiles except Blaise who seemed out of place among the rest. Whipping out your wand, you aim at Draco pushing him back until he reaches the banister. There was nowhere else for the snake to run. The tip of your wand pressed against the pale skin of his neck.
"What - the actual - fuck?" You growl through gritted teeth. The funny thing about Malfoy is that he may seem like an alpha but confront him and he turns into a baby. Whimpering at the mere threat of a jinx or curse. Would your friends go against you to save the leader? It didn't seem like it.
"We're just trying to save you from yourself," His Adam's Apple bobbed as he swallowed.
"Can't have you slumming around with witches like that," Pansy jumped to his defense but it only made you angrier. A hand fell onto your shoulder, whose you couldn't be sure but you'd make an educated guess and say it belonged to the girl herself.
"I didn't ask any of you for help,"  Your grip tightens around your wand. There were so many things you could do to him; some mild and nice, others... not so much. And for once in your life, you find yourself inspired by your least favourite person. Ronald Weasley. Who could forget the time he tried to curse Draco Malfoy and it ultimately backfired which was hilarious in its own right. With a flick of your wand, you back away slowly. "I never expected any of you to be so cruel- not to me anyway. I genuinely liked her and you had to go and fuck it up."
Draco opened his mouth to reply, but no words came out. Instead, he gave an almighty belch and a fat slug dribbled out of his mouth and straight onto the floor. Had the situation been different you'd probably have laughed but you just stormed off back to the common room and straight to bed. It wasn't like you would have had much time to search for her anyway.
You're up bright and early the next day. Desperate to leave the common room as quickly and quietly as possible. Pansy had tried to talk to you when they got back but you blanked her. As you step through the doors to the great hall, you search for Hermione along the length of the Gryffindor table. If you could just explain yourself maybe you wouldn't feel so bad? Maybe your chest wouldn't hurt so much. Without much of an explanation, you charge towards her and grab her wrist to pull her away from her breakfast. Thankfully she willingly let you guide her. "Where are we going?"
You didn't really have a particular destination in mind just a place far enough away from the great hall that nobody would interrupt. You don't stray too far before finding an empty corridor.
"About yesterday-"
"It's okay," She interrupts, surprisingly calmly. Had roles been reversed you'd probably be furious at her. "Your friends put you up to it. It's not a big deal."
"Hermione..." Her eyes fell anywhere but on your own as you watched her.
"I don't think we should hang out anymore. It's clear you're only doing it to amuse yourself and your god awful friends."
"That's not..." Your expression softens. "true."
"Maybe you're more like your friends than you think," That hit you straight in the heart and what made it worse is that she was right. As much as you liked to deny it, you wouldn't hang out with them if you weren't. But you genuinely enjoyed their company when they weren't being massive gits.
"I meant what I said." As quiet as your voice was, Hermione stopped walking away. "I really did. It wasn't a dare."
"Then... why?" The brunette turned back to you looking like she was about to burst into tears. Stepping closer, she stepped back.
"Because I'm an arsehole with shitty friends," A pitiful laugh at the excuse. "They got it in their heads that they were saving me or something by making it seem like a joke. I should have said something in the moment but I was just... surprised. I really do like you and I'm sorry about what happened. I won't bother you again." Better to cut your losses than expect forgiveness. You hadn't exactly denounced your friends other than the silly little curse you placed on Draco. As you glide past, Hermione catches your hand. Every moment of embarrassment once again filled your cheeks. "What are you..." you trail off as you look at her. Soft eyes paired with a tender smile.
"We're gonna miss breakfast."
"I'm sorry?" Now she was confusing you.
"You're not responsible for your friends actions," Her fingers interlace with yours. "And while I don't like the company you keep, I don't think you're anything like them."
"You don't have to do this," You express; part of you expecting this to turn out as a joke. Although Hermione would never do something so cruel.
"I know but I want to." This time Hermione is the one to lead the way.
"Can I sit with you?" It was an unusual ask considering everything that just happened but you couldn't face your fellow Slytherins right now. "I'm kind of icing out my friends so I'd rather not have to sit with them."
"Of course," She gently squeezes your hand. "You're an honourary Gryffindor after all."
Somehow you feel like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders only for more to be piled back on. Sure you told Hermione how you felt but you still weren't sure quite where the two of you stood. Not to mention you couldn't avoid Draco and the others forever. You grow more hesitant with each step back to the great hall. Pulling her back just as you reach the entrance. Hermione stumbles against you, clearly, you had caught her off guard. Utterly amused, you help her steady herself.
"Can I kiss you?"
The world melts away as she nods ever so slightly. The fluttering of wings deep in your stomach now grew fierce as you slowly reached up to grace her ruby red cheek with the palm of your hand; she felt silky smooth to the touch. Your heart skipped a beat as your lips connected in an unsure but heavenly embrace. Hermione tasted like spearmint toothpaste and you just couldn't get enough. But it was short-lived. Uncertainty morphed into that of admiration as you watched her mouth curl up into a smile.
"Ladies," You feel her jump a little, as do you at the sound of Fred Weasley's voice. Had he been there the whole time? Judging by the shit-eating grin as he disappeared into the great hall, he had witnessed the whole thing.
And with a matching expression his twin brother, walks just a few paces behind. A playful wink in your direction as he passes by. "Fine morning isn't it?"

Bokuto & Operation: ‘Sneak My Girlfriend Out of Her Strict Parents House for Late Night Snacks’
Bokuto x Reader
——————————————
“So, your code name is ‘Sexy Thighs’. And mine is ‘Thigh Guy 6000.’” Your boyfriend Bokuto whispered seriously. He easily lifted you through your ground-floor bedroom window to join him outside.
Your heart was racing due to the slight adrenaline rush. You clung to his strong arms until your feet met the ground of your backyard. You turned and stuck an arm through your window so you could cover the open space with a pillow. You had to leave the window open so you could crawl back in upon return.
“I agreed to sneak out but I draw the line at cheesy code names—“ You whispered back to him. You dusted off your outfit and finally looked up at your sulking boyfriend. Immediately, you caved.
“Fine. We can use code names.” You whispered.
A wide smile crept up on his face and he lifted both of his arms in the air in triumph. “HEY! HEY! HEY! Operation: ‘Sneak My Girlfriend Out of Her Strict Parents House for Late Night Snacks’ has officially commenced!”
“Shhhhhhhhhhh!” You swatted your boyfriend on the arm when he whisper-yelled his famous battle cry, glaring at him to quiet down.
You loved him, but he was sooooo loud all the time sometimes.
Bokuto nodded and grabbed your hand. Holding it tightly, he crouched down by the side of your window as he motioned for you to crouch down too.
Humouring him, you did. You followed him as he glued the side of his body to the side of your house and stealthily tip toed over to the end of the brick.
“I’m going to check if the coast is clear, and on my word we make a run for it. Got it?”
You stared up at your boyfriend in the dark and only now realized he was decked out in all black, including a black beanie that covered his familiar grey and black hair. God he’s dramatic. But you had to admit he looked super cute since his handsome face stood out more without the visuals of his unique hair. You gave him a nod letting him know you were listening to him. ‘Go.’ You mouthed.
Bokuto proceeded to peer around the corner like he was in a Spy Kids movie. He leaned slightly to check but he must have seen something because he quietly gasped and whipped his body back behind the wall. He shut his eyes in fear. In an instant, his arm jutted out in front of you like a shield, pushing you flesh against the wall too in an act of protection. You panicked.
“What?!” You whisper-yelled. “What is it Bokuto?! Do you see someone???” Your life flashed before your eyes because if your mom or dad caught you sneaking out you were DEAD dead. Bokuto didn’t respond.
“Bokuto! Who is there???”
Your boyfriend stuck his nose up in the air, turning away from you in a dismissive pout. He was purposely ignoring you.
You sighed in exasperation, pinching your nose and closing your eyes. “Boku—“
“That’s not my name.” He snapped in a whisper. He shook his head childishly.
You grit your teeth together to keep yourself from stomping on his foot. “Okay. I’m sorry, Bokut—I mean: Thigh Guy three thousand–“
“Six thousand!” He corrected you.
“Thigh Guy 6000.”
You watched Bokuto’s pout transform into an ecstatic smile. You continued. “Did you see someone over there?”
He looked down at you. “Oh.....no. I was just practicing my protection pose in case I did.”
You swat him harder on the arm than the last time and he winced.
“You know, for such a small chick you are really strong.” He rubbed where you hit him.
“Poor baby.” You whispered sarcastically. “And can I just add that you don’t need to practice a protection pose for me— if my parents really were there it’s you that would need to run for your life.”
Bokuto chuckled quietly. “Sexy Thighs, need I remind you that I’m one of the Top 5 Ace’s in the Country? I think I can handle a little dash of strict parents.....”
You rolled your eyes at your conceited boy even though he couldn’t see it in the dark at 1:30am.
You watched as he peered over the edge of your house again.
“The coast is clear, Sexy Thighs. We ride east at 0600 hours.”
“We’re going west, and that’s not how military time work—“
Your boyfriend interrupted you. “Let me live, will you?! Let’s go.”
Operation: ‘Sneak My Girlfriend Out of Her Strict Parents House for Late Night Snacks’ phase one: Escape was a success ✅
You and Bokuto were able to walk downtown easily in the cool night. Summer was transitioning to fall so it wasn’t cold enough for a jacket, but it definitely wasn’t warm enough for a t-shirt. Your boyfriend looked very attractive in a his hoodie, shorts and beanie while you settled for a skin tight blue thermal zip-up, and black lululemons.
Bokuto loved when you wore leggings for obvious reasons.... and he couldn’t resist smacking your ass a dozen or so times in the 15 minute walk downtown.
Barely anyone was on the street on your peaceful night walk
You both loved it. The night sky, the quiet, the fact that you felt safe pressed against your man and he felt elated whenever he got to see his girlfriend outside of your parents’ strict ‘boyfriend time’ hours
Once you both got downtown it was flooding with College Student’s leaving the bars. It was very loud and bustling
Bokuto anxiously looked around to check if the coast was clear and you were far enough from your house so he could,
“Hey! Hey! Heeeey!” He exclaimed to no one in particular. People looked at the crazy boy screaming and you put your head down from embarrassment. “Man.” He smiled. “I hated whispering that before. So I had to.”
Bokuto took your hand in his again and pulled you in the direction of the food stands.
On the way, unfortunately, you were cat-called and whistled at quite a bit by obnoxious drunk college boys leaving the clubs
Bokuto gripped your hand tighter
He wanted to rip their faces off but he knew he couldn’t risk going to jail tonight or getting you caught by your parents
He just held you closer to him and shot death glares at the guys who backed off
You loved him omg
Past the clubs, Bokuto practically skipped to a stop in a food truck line. He was smiling again and you couldn’t help but smile too
His energy was so infectious
You asked him what food you two were getting and he just told you it was a surprise and to trust the process
Bokuto was so happy to be with you he could barely contain himself. He was bursting at the seams at the fact that you actually agreed to sneak out with him. His parents were the opposite of yours and it was hard to date you when yours had such strong restrictions but he would do anything if it meant spending time with you.
In the line, he leaned down to pick you up so you both were face-to-face
“I love you, Sexy Thighs. Y’know that right?”
You squealed when he picked you up but melted at his words. You kissed his nose.
“I love you more..” You smiled.
“You love me more, what?” He waited.
“I love you more, Thigh Guy 6000. Now put me down.”
He didn’t listen to you and kept you propped up in his arms as the line started moving forward. He loved having you flushed against him like this. The guys that were cat calling you would know that you were his, and It also gave him a handful of your amazing ass.
To bystanders, the public display of affection wasn’t even that odd — you two just looked like a young couple that are very much in love
Which is true
You rested your head in the crook of your boyfriends warm neck. As much as you hated when he showed a mass amount of PDA, you were so comfortable and happy in his arms. You nuzzled into the neck and absentmindedly placed soft kisses there.
“Sexy Thighs....” Bokuto warned, holding back a groan. “You know what that does to me....”
you pulled your lips away from his neck.
“Sorry. Habit.”
Now at the front of the food stand line, Bokuto used his one strong arm to support your weight and used the other to point to the menu. You could hear him ordering
“Can we please get a number 2, a number 8, another number 2, and a number 11. Oh, and two hot chocolates please. One with extra marshmallows.”
You smiled. You’ve only mentioned that once in passing and he remembered you were a simp for hot chocolate with extra marshmallows.
He paid. 5 minutes later you heard who must be the food truck worker say,
“Here you go sir.”
Bokuto reluctantly had to put you down to collect his order.
You saw him thank the worker exuberantly and drop a great tip into the the tip jar. The worker thanked him profusely.
That’s one thing you loved about your boyfriend—his attitude was literally addicting and it spread to anyone he was near
He took your hand again and walked you to the river that was close to downtown. You noted that there were other couples here, holding hands, stargazing and talking. Bokuto found an empty bench and you both sat down
“Babe, you cold? You want my sweater?”
You shook your head. You felt absolutely fine and the hot chocolate made you feel even better. He was such a softie, always worried about you. It made you feel like royalty, honestly.
“I’m perfect.”
He smiled before unpacking the bag of late night snacks. You looked down at everything that was displayed in front of you.
You saw churros, deep friend oreo, a deep fried mars bar and caramel corn. Your favourites.
You smiled at him before leaping up to hug him. He chuckled again and ran a hand down your back.
“We don’t have a lot of time, Sexy Thighs. Your parents usually check on you at some point so we should hurry.”
Nodding, you kissed his cheek and turned your attention back to the snacks. You fed eachother and ate as much as you could until the sweets were too much.
You thanked your heaven sent bf again as you threw out all the leftovers.
You were on cloud nine it was an amazing date !!!!
Well, most of it. Bokuto tried feeding the churros to the birds who would not eat it lol
When you realized it was almost 3am the two of you rushed back to your house
Bokuto almost immediately went back into Spy Kids mode and even did a front roll to land in front of your bedroom window again.
You clasped a hand over your mouth so no one could hear you giggle.
Bokuto looked backs at you expectantly.
Knowing what he was silently asking for, you threw caution and your dignity to the wind and copied his somersault to land beside him
You beamed at eachother before Bokuto fixed your disheveled hair and leaned in kiss you—
Suddenly you were interrupted by hearing your bedroom door swing open
The two of you froze in terror as you listened to your fathers voice from outside of the bedroom window
He sounded like it was speaking from your door entryway
You both covered each other’s mouths with your hands.
“She’s dead asleep, honey.” Muttered your father tiredly. “She has the covers over her entire body like she used to do when she was a kid. She must be really tired.”
Then you heard the click of your door that signalled it was closed again.
Since you couldn’t move, Bokuto checked for you. He sighed in relief and only then did you let out the breath you’ve been holding in.
“Sexy Thighs, you are brilliant. How did you think to put pillows in your place on the bed?”
You told him you saw it in a movie and he looked at you like you were a superstar
Bokuto helped you back up into your window silently
You thanked him and you both leaned through the opening to kiss eachother goodnight.
“So I guess Operation: ‘Sneak My Girlfriend Out of Her Strict Parents House for Late Night Snacks’ was a success, huh?” He whispered onto your lips, leaning in for another kiss. He really didn’t want to leave. “I can’t wait until we move into together, Y/N. We could do this all the time.”
You smiled lovingly, kissing your boyfriends nose again. “I can’t wait either. And I also can’t wait until your next mission, Mr. Sexy Thighs 6000.”
Bokuto’s eyes lit up. “Really? Have I corrupted you?” He smirked when you mouthed ‘maybe.’
“Well I’m glad to hear that you don’t mind being my partner in crime because my next mission is called Operation: Send Your Boyfriend a Booty Pic in your Panties Because He Loves Those Leggings on You And He Wants To—“
You interrupt him with one more chaste kiss. “Goodnight, Bokuto.”
As you shut the window you can hear your boyfriend whisper-yell: “You know if you want to keep calling me ‘Sexy Thighs 6000’ I won’t complain!”
You blew a kiss his way and waved to your boyfriend through the window before shooing him away.
He salutes and you laugh as you watch him stealthily somersault out of your view.

Ate way too much for such a low level of activity. I didn't have e enough water in the morning/afternoon and wound up napping for like 3 hours in random bursts of sleepiness throughout the day.

Exercise - 21 mins on the treadmill at 4km/h and incline of 10%; Chloe Ting flat abs in 30 days (10 mins); 25 x (donkey kicks, butt bridges, double leg raises, crunches, half push-ups)
Had the last slice of pie today. The last time I made it was over two years ago, so I thought I'd commemorate it.
Tumblr media
Wasn't planning on exercising but then the mood struck. The walk went well, and I took some very brief breaks during the Chloe Ting video but made it through all the moves okay (with a modified bunny-hop-plank because I was indoors), and then I threw on those 25-rep moves because my abs weren't really sore from the video, so either my muscles are still working after almost two months of rest, or I didn't do the video moves correctly. Felt good after it all, which is the main thing. :)
I'm thinking of trying to properly 'meal plan' so to speak, by being more mindful of what I eat. My weight loss seemed to go fastest when I reduced my intake of bread and dairy (and sugary treats too) so I'll aim towards those two goals, as well as more fruit and veg and protein to help me feel full.
The only sweet treats I'll accept will be meringue kisses, because there are so many to get through. :P
30/7/21 Weight
SW: 80KG
CW: 63.0KG
GW: 60KG
0.5KG down from last week. Hard to believe it's already been a week since last weigh in.
Still, that's not bad for only two days back on exercise (and all that sugar 😬)
Breakfast - 2 buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup and salted butter, sweetened black coffee.
Dinner - serving of mixed steamed veggies, 1 steamed dim sim, 1 serving roast chicken with spicy sauce and 2 servings stuffing, 0.5 corn on the cob.
Dessert - 1 meringue kiss.
Water - 2L, excellent.
Exercise - 21 mins on the treadmill at 4km/h and incline of 10%; Chloe Ting flat abs in 30 days (10 mins); 25 x (donkey kicks, butt bridges, double leg raises, crunches, half push-ups).
I noticed that I've lost the faint ab lines I worked so hard for all those months. ;n;
I've only gained maybe 1.5-2KGS from my lowest recorded weight, but it's really visible around my face and belly. And my arm muscles are hiding under the returning chub, which makes me sad. I worked hard for these muscles. They're still there, but I can't see them so well anymore.
Oh well, with a little work and time I can easily come back around. Just gotta stay consistent. 💪

Candy Corn Blues
Hey everyone here’s another one shot for Spooktober! It’s short and sweet (pun intended) hope you all enjoy it!
Pairings: Steve Rogers x Avenger!Female Reader
Ratings: PG 13 (Language, booze). All Fluff, already established relationship with Steve.
Words: 2,447
Summary: Why does everyone have to pick on Steve about his candy choices?
(Don’t own anything, except the reader. This was not endorsed by any candy companies. No beta either, so have fun finding mistakes. I’m sure there’s some.)
Candy Corn Blues
It was the second week in October when you arrived home from a mission with Steve. It had gone easy enough. Some minor cuts and bruises, but you returned to the Compound with the information you needed to stop a known terrorist from blowing up another building full of important people at another important gala in Washington. You’d care more if they hadn’t gotten so predictable lately. You were happy to do the job, but this mission was cutting into your favorite time of year. That bugged you.
You were entering the loud living area after a much needed shower, smile on your lips as you overheard your teammates continuing the discussion from earlier in the Quinjet.
“I’m telling you guys, Snickers is OBVIOUSLY the best Halloween candy.” Bucky rolled his eyes, sipping from his mug of coffee. How that man could drink that sludge this late was beyond you. But then again, it had been a pretty long night for all of you. And it’s not like alcohol would do anything to him. Sam remained firm in his opinion, shoulders tense as he stood his ground.
Tony scoffed, “Again you’re wrong Wilson, Reese’s pumpkins are by far the better candy for this time of year.” You high fived the man as you took the seat next to Steve on the overstuffed couch, giving him a quick peck before settling into his side, his arm going over your shoulders as if it had a mind of its own. “See? Y/N’s got the good sense to agree with me! Always knew you had good taste.”
“I see the debate is still in session.” You giggled as Steve fake groaned, leaning into you and resting his head on yours as you cuddled on the couch. You hadn’t really gotten a lot of time to each other the last couple weeks, the Avengers splitting up to help cover more ground on this terrorist situation. “I’ve missed you.”
The blonde man sighed into your hair, trying to ignore the scene behind him. “And I you Sweetheart.”
“Seriously Stark? Reese’s? Those taste like sawdust coated in those cheap chocolate candy melts and then left to rot for a year before they’re put on shelves.”
“Oddly descriptive Sam, “Nat pulled a face, reaching for a beer Thor was holding out for her. “Do I want to know just how you know what sawdust tastes like?”
“Har har, very funny. Just admit it, I’m right.”
“I have to disagree Samuel, I quite enjoy the taste of a Three Musketeers bar.” Thor shrugged, Bruce clicking his tongue between his teeth as he shook his head.
“Nah man, you guys are forgetting about Milky Ways!” Wanda nodded enthusiastically, not having said much most of the day, but you figured out pretty quickly she hadn’t actually eaten a lot of the candy that had been in the conversation.
It was Tony’s turn to make a face. “Banner those are almost as bad as Snickers. They might as well be sister-wives in the family of gross.”
“What about Sour Patch Kids! Ya’ll are sleeping on a classic!” You piped up from your position with your beau, the group collectively groaning and muttering “no”. “Well screw you too.”
“Hey we haven’t heard from Mr. Perfect teeth yet.” Tony jolted the man next to you out of his dozing mindset, a sheepish grin covering his face as he refused to speak. “What’s up Cap? Y/N got your tongue?”
“Crude Tony, but no. My favorite candy is none of your business.” You turned your head to look at him, swallowing his comment in your brain. You had no idea what his favorite candy was, not that he was a huge fan of sweets to begin with. You hadn’t even been dating that long, but you were certain you hadn’t asked him. “Don’t look at me like that Y/N, I’m not telling you.”
“Oh come on darling,” You cooed, trying to bait an answer out of him. “It can’t be that horrible. I’ll keep the big bad Stark away from you if it’s Snickers.” You rubbed his large forearm soothingly, the man’s face turning a slight shade of pink as he took a deep breath.
“Alright,” he sighed out the breath as if it was his death warrant, shutting his eyes to avoid everyone else’s as they waited. “It’s chicken feed.”
Your face was priceless. “Uh, what?”
“Sorry, it hasn’t been called that for awhile now I guess,” He chuckled, “Candy corn. I really love candy corn.”
The chorus of “WHAT?” and “THE FUCK ROGERS?” was deafening, Steve’s jaw tensing as he kept his eyes shut.
“Jesus Steve I know they didn’t have much back in the forties but my man, some things you can leave in the past. I wish they had left those travesties back in the eighteen-eighties.” Sam groaned out, Bucky laughing at his friend’s miserable features as Tony fake gagged.
“For once we agree Sam. Candy corn is the absolute worst thing to happen to this world since the black plague.”
“It’s just so…basic! Bland! There’s nothing to it! It’s like they made all of it back in nineteen twelve and have just been selling that one batch this whole time!”
“Pretty sure dirt has more flavor to it.”
Your face tensed as the men continued to berate your boyfriend’s choice, your hand coming over his to squeeze it gently. You knew he would shrug it off, but it still managed to get under your skin, even if they were right. “I’m sorry I asked, I don’t know how you can eat that stuff.”
“It reminds me of a simpler time. I mean there wasn’t tons of great tasting candy that was cheap back then. My ma always managed to get her hands on some and it’s just another way to remember her.” Your heart swelled as he smiled at you, blinking his eyes open. “I know it isn’t incredible, but I don’t need a bunch of ingredients or gimmicks. It’s just candy.”
“You’re sweet enough as is Rogers, I promise you that.” You muttered, watching his smile widen as he gave you another cavity inducing kiss.
Another two weeks went by in a flash, before you knew it Steve was leaving with Bucky, Sam, and Nat to go take out the terrorist. You had elected to stay behind with Tony, not feeling up to the adventure and it was going to be over too quick anyway. You had been nice enough to send him pictures of candy corn on the thirtieth, as it was the national day for it. He was quick to rub it in Sam’s face. Snickers didn’t have a holiday after all. You didn’t want to be parted from Steve, but you also didn’t want to risk missing movie night. Especially when Nat, Pepper, and you had all decorated the Tower in scary lights and creatures. Hell, Steve didn’t even want you to miss that, knowing this was your thing.
So they went to catch the bad guys while you, Pepper, Tony, and Peter Parker all sat crunched together on the sofa, watching everything from Hocus Pocus to Saw. You laughed when Pepper and Peter clung to each other, you and Tony egging on the classic slashers and cheering when teenagers met their end in terrifyingly awful and supremely dated ways.
“Holy shit!” You jumped, quickly dissipating into laughter as FRIDAY announced the team had stopped the terrorist, your heart rate calming at hearing everyone was fine and would be back tomorrow night after a meeting with the president. You opened the text window on your phone, smiling as Steve had sent you a picture of him with the team, all carving pumpkins in their hotel room a few hours later.
“Wish you were here Pumpkin.” The caption read, you snorting into your handful of popcorn, quick to take a picture of a woman mid scream on the T.V and sending it back with the attached text.
“You’re a real scream Sweetheart. See you soon.”
“Have a dreadfully good evening Doll.” Was in your window less than two seconds later. He was getting faster with his texting. Tony huffed a louder than needed “ahem”, drawing your eyes back to the T.V to watch Jamie Lee Curtis limp towards the safety of a closet.
“Man fashion sure has changed for the better hasn’t it Mister Stark?” Peter asked, the older man looking at him as if he was crazy. “What? You were alive in the seventies right?”
You and Pepper were in tears as the outraged Tony threw popcorn at the young man.
The next day you were helping Pepper take down the decorations in the tower, humming some Halloween tune to yourself as you placed the giant fake spiders and bats back in their correct boxes. The team would be back early morning tomorrow and you couldn’t wait to get some cuddle time with Steve. Tony had promised you two some R and R and you were going to have it. Even if the holidays were approaching like a bullet train. Picking up your phone you pressed the green icon next to your favorite Captain’s name, his voice coming in within a ring and a half.
“Hey Doll, you have a good night last night?”
“Yea, you? Looks like you were up to your hips in pumpkin guts.” You laughed, imagining him covered in the sticky substance.
“It was a lot of fun, you would have made it better though.”
You could feel the smile in his voice. “Well duh, this is me we’re talking about. I make everything better.”
“That you do. Going to go ransack all the stores of their Halloween clearance?” The blonde asked, frowning from his own position on the globe as yet another store didn’t carry his preferred candy. That was the fourth store. Had they stopped making it? “Hmm. This isn’t right.”
“You know me too well.” You smiled as Tony jingled the keys to his car at you, throwing you a pair of flats as you balanced the phone on your shoulder. “What’s not right?”
“I can’t find any candy corn. I was going to pick some up to hold me over til the Christmas kind comes out.”
“Awww poor baby.” You could hear Sam’s sarcasm from the other side of the line, stifling your own laughter as you got in the car. “I see they actually have sense here in Washington. Which is a big deal when you think about it.”
“Shaddup Sam,” Steve’s tone had a frustrated edge to it, and you were beginning to suspect that this was not the first comment Wilson had made during your boyfriend’s plight. “I can’t wait to see you , I’ll let you get to shopping. Tell Tony we’re gonna have pizza tomorrow so you don’t have it tonight.”
“But it’s Pizza Friday.” You complained weakly, knowing the older man was bound to throw a fit over a change in the routine.
“He’ll get over it. He likes you the most anyway, so he won’t be angry if you tell him.”
“Man you are so lucky you’re cute.” You muttered, Steve chuckling into the receiver.
“Don’t worry doll, I’ll make it up to you.” Your heart shuddered at his promise.
“You better. Sorry about your candy corn blues.”
“S’alright. Maybe you were right about me being sweet enough already.”
The two of you said your goodbyes and hung up, an idea popping into your head as you buckled your seat belt, admiring the leather of Tony's expensive car. You were even more excited to go shopping now, the billionaire almost looking worried as you bounced in your seat all the way to the first store.
The next day Steve and his team dragged their exhausted bodies from the Quinjet, the mission that took nearly a month to complete heavy on their minds as they decompressed from the stress.  The press event with the President had been worse. How that was possible none of them knew. To say they were happy to be home was an understatement. Rogers had actually dreamt of his bed the last couple nights, more specifically the woman who was in the bed. You hadn’t been dating for more than six months yet but he was already head first and heart deep in love with you. Everything you did was so effortless and gentle. You always thought of him, putting him and others before yourself. He admired your strength, as you didn’t need serum or powers to kick ass. He always had a weakness for powerful women though.
He didn’t bother turning on the light when he entered his room, stripping off his clothes and promptly passing out on his bed, taking note you weren’t there to greet him. Probably smart for you to sleep in your room, as it was nearly three in the morning.
He woke up to the biggest shock of his life.
The light streamed into his room like the sun had made it its own personal mission to make sure Steve would go blind. Standing up, he yawned, rubbing his eyes before they widened in surprise.
His room was crawling in candy corn. Containers and bags of it flooded his floor and chair next to his bed. There were even a couple of bags on his bed. How could he have slept through all of this? He must have been more tired than he thought. There was a pumpkin shaped container nearly overflowing with the sugary confection on his nightstand, little packets meant for trick or treaters hanging out of his shoes. A knock at his door startled the man, Steve carefully stepping over the obnoxiously bright orange bags on the floor as he opened the door.
You lowered a large pillow in the shape of his favorite treat, large grin on your face. “Morning. Do you think this will hold you over til Christmas?”
He laughed hard at that, pulling you into his arms as he kissed you breathless.
“Doll, you’re the absolute sweetest. Thank you.”
“Anytime Captain. Now as I recall you have some making up to do.” You whispered suggestively, Steve taking the hint and closing the door behind you, smile never leaving his eyes.
The End.

Trick or Treat
Tumblr media
warnings: halloween
Loki x gn!reader
- Trick or treating is loads of fun, so you decide, what could possibly be better than going around your neighborhood with your boyfriend, the god of mischief himself?
- You do have to explain a lot of the customs to him before you set off.
- “What if I ask for a trick?”
- “That’s just... being obnoxious.”
- You have a giant pumpkin bucket that you normally use to hand out sweets, but this year you’re the one getting the sweets.
- Loki wears a cat mask (you have no idea where he got it from) whilst you choose a skeleton mask and matching jumper.
- Although he’s acting indifferent, you can tell he’s really, really excited from how his eyes flit around the apartment, constantly watching the door in preparation to leave.
- Once outside, Loki completely loses his facade - especially when he sees the decorated houses.
- “Look! (Y/N) look!” is followed up by a clearing of his throat and a “stupid Midgardian customs”
- You round up a massive haul of sweets - Reeses, candy corn, chocolate bars, fudge sticks... literally everything appears in your plastic pumpkin.
- In all honesty, you’re not 100% sure if Loki just ‘magic-ed up’ a bunch of chocolate.
- On the long walk back (because Loki literally made you walk miles, he was so excited), you spot a family walking in the opposite direction.
- There’s a kid with them, holding his dad’s hand, who points towards Loki’s mask and yells “cat cat cat cat cat!” excitedly
- You can’t see it, but you know that Loki is blushing from embarrassment and the parent’s apologies for the pointing child do nothing to stop said blush.
- The kid is still absolutely enthralled by the mask, turning around to look at Loki as he walks past.
- In a sudden surge of courage, Loki produces ten tiny cats - all made of smoke - that tumble out from his hands and float around his head.
- The boy’s eyes nearly drop out, and he is grinning from ear to ear as you and Loki turn to complete the walk back to your apartment.
- “You’re adorable, Loki.”
- “When I want to be.”
- Once the two of you are in the warm, Loki sets about making hot drinks for the both of you whilst you rummage through the plastic pumpkin to see the extent of your haul.
- Loki joins you, and after a while, he pulls out a glowstick.
- “What type of chocolate is this?” he jokes, fastening it around your wrist.
- The two of you spend the rest of the night (and the subsequent few days) eating the chocolate and sweets that you collected.
- Even though he doesn’t say it, Loki had an amazing time.
- He wants to do it every year - trick or treating with you, his beloved.

could you write about a first kiss on a ferris wheel with kino? where you’re both admitting that you’re in love and that cute shit?
A Day at the Amusement Park
———————————————————————
Group: PENTAGON
Pairing: Hyunggu (Kino) x reader
Genre: fluff
Word count: 1.9k
A/N: here you go! I hope this is what you wanted! I don’t really go to amusement parks or any places that would have ferris wheels so I hope I was able to depict everything well. Thank you for requesting and I hope you like it ❤️ requests are open!
———————————————————————
Tumblr media
“No way!” You practically yelled into your phone.
“Come on, y/n, why not? It’ll be fun!” Kino laughed into his phone, “Even if you’re afraid that something bad will happen, I’ll be there too, don’t worry. I’ll save you.”
You sighed, rubbing soothing circles over your temples. Kino had been trying to get you to go to the amusement park with him for at least two months now. It’s not like you were absolutely terrified to go. You like the rides, and you didn’t necessarily have a fear of heights, but for some reason the ferris wheel still scared you. Something in the back of your mind just told you that something bad would happen and it always made you feel uneasy. Still, you didn’t want to disappoint your best friend, and you knew how much he loved the amusement park. Heaving another long sigh and cringing, you spoke.
“Fine, but on one condition. We don’t go on the ferris wheel.”
Kino was quick to respond, “Done.”
You planned out the details as to who was driving and what time you would leave. You decided that you would go to the park around noon tomorrow and spend the rest of the day there. You were excited, now that you knew you wouldn’t be going on the ride that terrified you and that you would be spending the day with your best friend.
You hadn’t really told any of your other friends, and you hated to admit it to yourself, but you had a bit of a crush on Kino. Hell, you were actually in love with Kino. You wanted him to be your first kiss more than anything in the world. Everything he did made your stomach flip. Even when your phone started ringing and his contact appeared on the screen when he called about the amusement park, your stomach fluttered. It wasn’t really a call you had been expecting at one in the morning.
You shook the thoughts out of your head and leaned over to turn off the lamp, settling in your sheets and allowing sleep to carry you into tomorrow.
———————————————————
“You ready?” Kino asked as you opened his car’s passenger door.
You smiled as you climbed into the seat, “Never been more ready for anything in my life.”
He let out that beautiful laugh that you loved so much, and your smile immediately grew wider. You looked over at him and almost choked. How does he look so effortlessly good? You wondered. He was wearing something so simple, yet so good. How could a simple sweatshirt and black jeans make you swoon so hard?
Your thoughts were interrupted when Kino shifted the car out of park and began driving. He opened his Spotify playlist and began playing some of your favorite songs, to which you both screamed the lyrics of all the way to the amusement park. When you arrived and got in line to get your tickets, you and Kino started discussing what ride you wanted to go on first. By the time you got into the park, you both settled on going to a roller coaster that Kino had hyped up. When you got to the area where the ride was, your jaw dropped at how long of a line there was to get on.
“Why is the line so long?” You questioned in awe.
Kino smiled, “Don’t worry, it’ll go by fast. Plus,” he nudged your shoulder with his arm and raised his eyebrows up and down, “you’re with me.”
You rolled your eyes and shoved him away, running towards the line while laughing and leaving him in your dust.
After waiting in the line for the coaster for almost an hour, it was finally your turn to get on. The cars were arranged with two people per car, so you and Kino were able to sit right next to each other. When Kino reached up and pulled the bar over your heads, your mind suddenly realized the event that was about to take place, and you started getting a little nervous. Kino seemed to notice this, because as soon as the coaster lurched forward he enveloped your hand in his, giving it a tight squeeze. You looked up at him and he sent you a sweet smile, immediately vanishing your worries.
When the ride was over and you and Kino stood up to get out of the car, you realized that your hand was still trapped in Kino’s own. You blushed slightly, realizing that he had never let go of your hand throughout the whole ride. He turned around once you had climbed out of the car.
“So did you like it?” He asked excitedly.
You snapped your head up to look at him, hoping he hadn’t seen the light tint of red painting your cheeks.
“Yeah, it was really fun!” You replied, then continued on about your favorite part (leaving out that being able to hold his hand was definitely your favorite part).
He smiled, his eyes crinkling at the sides. He then proceeded to lead you through the crowd of people and towards an unknown location, all the while never letting go of your hand.
“Kino, where are we going?” You yelled from behind him.
He didn’t answer, and instead stopped in front of a kettle corn stand. After buying a large bag, he opened it and held it out to you. You smiled, taking a handful and stuffing the sweet and salty treat into your mouth.
The rest of the day consisted of waiting in line for rides and finishing the giant bag of kettle corn. Between one of the rides, Kino stopped in front of a game booth and won you a small stuffed corgi that he had seen you gawking over every time you passed it. When he had handed it to you, you had jumped into his arms, taking him aback as he was completely unprepared for your little outburst of happiness. You both laughed until he put you back on the ground, and you thanked him for winning you the cute plushie.
Now it was around 8:30 p.m. The sun was setting, painting the sky a beautiful gradient of colors that slowly began to fade to black. You and Kino were walking towards a new destination, no longer holding hands, but keeping your index fingers linked together. Kino turned the corner and you instantly came to a halt, causing Kino to turn around and face you. Your eyes weren’t focused on Kino, however, but were instead focused on the giant ferris wheel looming over the both of your heads. You let your gaze drift to Kino.
“I thought you said no ferris wheel...” you trailed off, eyes drifting back up to the ride you feared so much.
“I changed my mind.” He stated matter-of-factly.
Your eyes snapped back to his, fear and nervousness beginning to course through your body.
“Nothing will happen, y/n. You have to trust me on this,” he reassured.
You allowed him to slowly drag you into the line to get on, your eyes never leaving the ferris wheel as he did.
“Y/n,” he spoke softly.
Your eyes floated down to his gaze, and you only now just realized how close you were standing to him and how not only one of your fingers were locked together, but all of them.
“It will be fine.” He squeezed your hand.
You gulped and nodded, squeezing his hand back and forcing yourself to not run away. Time passed at an excruciatingly slow pace, making you dread what you were about to do even more. By the time you had finally reached the front of the line, you were trembling.
The next cabin slowly descended toward the ground, coming to a stop. A worker opened the door, and a happy couple stepped out, walking away through the crowd of people still at the amusement park.
“Your turn! Watch your step!” The worker smiled at you and Kino, using his arm to wave you into the cabin. Kino let go of your hand to get in, then turned around and offered his hand to you. You took it and allowed him to help you into the cabin, taking a seat next to him. The worker shut the door and waved goodbye as the cabin began its ascent.
Your whole body was stiff as you stared out the glass that surrounded you, watching the people on the safe ground slowly getting smaller. Kino released your hand and wrapped his arm around your waist. You turned your head towards him and looked into his chocolate eyes. He looked ethereal. The soft glow of the setting sun cast a beautiful golden glow across his face, and the colors that splashed the sky behind him made him even more so.
You almost completely forgot about the situation you were in right now - suspended in the air, the only thing keeping you from dropping to the ground a thin layer of glass. Everything about Kino just comforted you.
“Are you okay?” He asked.
You looked around at the scenery before you, finally forgetting everything that had been worrying you and seeing the true beauty of everything around you. You shifted your gaze back to Kino.
“Yeah, I think I’m fine.” You smiled, looking down at your hands. The cabin came to an abrupt stop, causing you to squeak.
Kino laughed, “You sure?”
You glared at him “Yes, Kino.” You said, rolling your eyes but still smiling. You looked around you again, taking in the view.
He giggled a bit more before looking around him.
“We’re finally at the top,” he noticed, glancing around at the sunset and scenery before letting his gaze drop down to you. His breath caught in his throat at how absolutely stunning you were. He thought you were more beautiful than anything around him.
“Y/n,” he spoke softly.
You slowly turned your head to him, looking up at him through your lashes. His hand left your waist and moved up to stroke your cheek. You leaned into his touch, your gaze never tearing from his. He slowly leaned in, closing the distance between you. You could feel his breath fanning your lips once his face was in front of yours, and your eyes fluttered shut as he connected his lips to yours. It felt like sparks were exploding everywhere inside your body. Kino brought up his other hand and gently cupped your face, deepening the kiss. Your lips molded to his. The moment couldn’t have been more perfect. He pulled away ever so gently, staring into your eyes. You could still feel his breath on your lips.
“I love you,” he finished his sentence from earlier, still staring at your eyes as they sparkled in the now dim lighting from outside.
You stared back at him, unable to comprehend what he just said.
“I think I’ve loved you for a long time now,” he continued.
Your staring never ceased, but that didn’t stop you from saying what had been nagging at your mind and heart for months now.
“I love you too, Kino.”
And with that, he closed the gap between you again, the kiss every bit as amazing as before. When he finally pulled away for good, he slung his arm around your shoulders and pressed a delicate kiss to your cheek.
After that trip, you and Kino frequented the amusement park - including the ferris wheel - more often, not just as best friends, but as a happy, undeniably in love couple.

Here's Why Your Dog Definitely Shouldn't Eat Halloween Treats
Tumblr media
Every October 31, trick-or-treaters return home with pumpkin-shaped baskets overflowing with fun-sized Snickers bars, Runts, Sweetarts and the occasional (and unfortunate) mini package of raisins. But it’s not just kids who can make themselves sick on sweets — Halloween candy can be especially toxic to dogs.
Never share Halloween candy with your pet. What is delicious to us can be very harmful to your cat or dog.  The pile of sweets can be dangerously tempting to the family pet, so it’s important to keep it well out of paw’s reach and avoid problems down the road.
So what Halloween hazards should pet parents be most concerned about? Here are some of the top candies that can cause problems on the most spooky of nights:
Tumblr media
Chocolate
Most pet owners are already well aware that chocolate and dogs just don’t mix (unless we’re talking chocolate labs), but sometimes only a small piece can be cause for concern. Larger dogs can typically ingest more chocolate than smaller breeds without consequence — so a Great Dane may be able to eat a few Hershey’s Kisses without symptoms, while a Chihuahua will suffer immediately. (That still doesn’t mean any dog should do it!)
The type of chocolate can also influence a dog’s reaction. Chocolate contains methylxanthines (such as caffeine and theobromine), and dogs are much more sensitive to these than people are. Methylxanthines are found in all chocolates to varying degrees. White chocolate contains less than milk chocolate, while milk chocolate contains less than dark or semisweet chocolate. Dark and semisweet chocolate have the greatest probability of being harmful to your dog.
If your dog manages to get into the candy basket, watch for signs of chocolate toxicity, such as gastrointestinal upset (vomiting, diarrhea), as well as increased heart and respiratory rates, muscle rigidity and, in certain serious cases, seizures, cardiac failure and coma.
No matter the amount of chocolate, it’s a good idea to call your emergency vet or the pet poison helpline immediately, and only attempt to treat or induce vomiting with explicit instructions from a professional.
Tumblr media
Candy corn and super sugary treats
Chocolate isn’t the only reason to keep Halloween candy well out of your pet’s reach. Rich, sugary snacks such as candy corn and caramels can cause serious stomach upset in pets.
Halloween and Thanksgiving are often a time to indulge in rich, fattening foods but it is best not to share these with your pets and instead keep them on their usual diets. These rich foods can result in pancreatitis, a painful inflammation of the pancreas that is manifested by vomiting and diarrhea.
This potentially fatal condition can take time to develop, so it may be between two and four days before your dog shows symptoms of sneaky candy consumption. Pet owners who notice their dog chowing down on the Hot Tamales should call their vet, and keep an eye out for any behavior out of the usual.
Tumblr media
Grapes and raisins (and Raisinets)
A neighbor may have good intentions handing out grapes or boxes of raisins to trick-or-treaters, but the fruit can be incredibly poisonous to dogs.
It can only take a small amount to produce critical results in pets, so any type of consumption should be treated as poisoning. If that same sweet tooth leads dogs to a bag of grapes or raisins, the situation can turn dire, and these items can cause kidney failure in dogs. Pet owners should watch for symptoms such as lethargy, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and severe kidney failure, and call a vet or poison helpline immediately.
Tumblr media
Sugar-free candy
Chances are, kids are not that excited about finding sugar-free gum among their booty, but dogs will not be so discerning. Candy with artificial sweetener xylitol can also be toxic to dogs. Signs of xylitol toxicity in dogs include decreased blood pressure, coordination loss and seizures.
Tumblr media
Candy wrappers
It’s not just what’s inside that counts — candy wrappers can also cause serious problems for pets when ingested. If a pup gobbles down the wrapper and all, the pesky plastic or tinfoil packaging can lead to intestinal obstructions, which may require X-rays and surgery to fix.
To avoid a costly and stressful trip to the vet this fall, it’s best to keep the candy in a safe, secure place where dogs can’t reach it.

PART 8 | THE PRICE OF GOLD MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
You stormed your way through a large group of people checking in, trying to hide the tears that fell down your cheeks. Frantically, you pushed the elevator call button, almost running into someone as they were exiting once the doors opened.
Back in the solace of your room you paced back and forth, opening the doors to the balcony and breathing in the warm evening air.
Before coming here you had your mind set, find out what you needed to write your article and leave, never needing to see Lance Tucker ever again. You never planned on bringing up what happened between you. You’re an adult now, you have a great life, the perfect job that lets you travel and see the world through the eyes of many different athletes.
Somehow things had changed. Maybe it was setting foot in Spring Hill, with memories pouring down on you like the thunderstorms of your former home state. Maybe it was Lance. He had changed from the arrogant playboy back to the sweet friend you knew, or maybe that person was there all along. You wouldn’t know considering you abruptly cut him out of your life.
Yet here he was again, and somehow in the short amount of time you’d been back you had stopped fighting and opened up to each other, almost settling into a routine. It was comforting to have him back and then the storm became heavier, the wind whipped through you, everything turned into a violent hurricane as Lance brought up the reason for your fallout.
Being forced to relive the event tore at your heart, but this time you saw it through Lance’s eyes. He filled in the gaps and apologized for his behavior. He knew he was wrong and he tried many times to apologize but you never heard it. You were so focused on your own pain that you didn’t see how much he was hurting as well.
Wait, why are you making excuses for him? He’s an asshole. He acted like a stupid, selfish jerk. He doesn’t deserve your forgiveness… No, those thoughts don’t seem right anymore. For so many years you convinced yourself that Lance was the enemy. He was immature but he knew he was wrong and tried his best to make things right. It’s taken you fourteen years to finally realize you had been immature as well. You never gave him a chance, you were too overcome with emotion to think rationally. You were both to blame.
Another revelation you’ve had in the few days back is that you still had feelings for Lance Tucker. You pushed them away for so long, buried them under mounds of hate. You blamed Lance for everything, if he hadn’t done that then your relationship wouldn’t have ended.
You had thought about reaching out to him but by then Lance was too involved in his career, focused on training to go for the gold, so you forced yourself to move on, believing that he did as well. You’ve dated since, having a steady boyfriend in college but splitting after graduation, your careers were taking you on different paths. New York was full of men, some great, some awful, but none like Lance.
You questioned everything now, every interaction between you. Would Lance have opened up about his mom if Heather interviewed him? Was there something more behind way his mouth curved into a smile when he looked at you, or the gentle brushes of his fingers against yours?
You begin to type an apology to Lance but deleted everything in favor of calling him, owing him a verbal explanation. The phone rang once before he picked it up, sounding like he rushed to answer.
“I’m sorry for running out like that,” you admitted.
“You have nothing to apologize for.”
“I do. I was really upset after what happened. You shouldn’t have said anything to those jerks but I understand your reasoning. I’m sorry that I never let you apologize, I just ended things on impulse and that was wrong. We deserved better.”
We. It stood out like a full moon against the dark night’s sky, giving Lance hope that maybe, if he was ever lucky enough to have his dreams come true, you would once again believe in the two of you.
Your conversation lasted a few more minutes, both of you coming to an understanding, finding closure to what happened and agreeing to move forward.
When Lance picked you up the next day your greeting was a little awkward. You chuckled under your breath, unsure of what to say until you wrapped your arms around him. Lance’s whole body relaxed against yours as he inhaled your familiar scent that he had grown used to over the last few days. He was overjoyed that you resolved things, tears pricking his eyes as he squeezed tighter, never wanting to let you go. After a few more moments you both dropped your arms, sharing a smile before starting the day.
Lance had an interview set up with a local reporter, who was very welcoming to meet you when she thought you were his girlfriend, and upon finding out otherwise and your position at ESPN she asked for privacy during her meeting.
You obliged her request and stepped away to check in with your parents. They were on the last stop of their cruise and telling you about how beautiful Cozumel is.
“How’s your interview going?” your mom asked.
“It was a little rocky at first but things are really good,” you said, laughing to yourself as you never imagined things between you and Lance would ever been good again.
After his interview you went to lunch, with Lance happily surprised when he noticed you gradually shifting closer to him. With his phone buzzing he looked disappointed as he checked it, he had been looking out for any correspondence about his appeal. It was weighing on his mind and rightfully so, his lawyer had told him the decision should be in any day now.
“If I win this it would mean so much.” He previously explained how being a USA Gymnastics accredited facility would alleviate some of the financial burden. Lance cleared his throat, trying to steady his voice, “I just want to make her proud again.”
Tears formed in his eyes and you knew he was talking about his mom. Your hand went over his, rubbing them gently as you reassured Lance, “She’s always been proud of you.”
“I’m supposed to see her later, I can drop you off first if–” You cut him off, adding you would love to see Dorothy if he didn’t mind. Lance smiled in response.
Driving down your old street with Lance felt weird, it was familiar and strange at the same time. You looked at your parent’s old house, seeing the exterior was now painted in a cornflower blue and you didn’t like it. Looking at his childhood home you noticed not much had changed except for the landscape design, with bright pink zinnias now growing under the window.
Shutting the car off Lance prepared you for his mother’s appearance but seeing her still broke your heart as you made your way into the large living room. Dorothy had lost a lot of weight, her skin was covered in dark splotches of bruises, a side effect from the chemotherapy. She wore a head wrap to cover her scalp, her salt and pepper hair nearly all gone though a few uneven patches remained.
She sat in an armchair, watching TV with Nadia her aide beside her, attempting to get her to drink some of a nutritional shake through a straw. Lance went in, getting her attention with his greeting as he carefully kissed her cheek and hugged her.
He turned Nadia who smiled, whispering to him that she’s had a good day so far. Dorothy’s cancer, as you had looked up, affected her memory and it was unpredictable to know when she would lapse.
“Look who’s here, mom.” You stepped forward as Lance announced, “It’s Y/N, Y/L/N.”
Dorothy smiled widely, “Y/N! Oh my I haven’t seen you in years,” she said, her voice had grown older, and now laced with fatigue.
“Hi Dorothy,” you said, bending down to gently hug her, and wiping a few stray tears from the side of your eyes after you pulled away.
She turned the TV off and you sat beside Lance on the couch so you could catch up with each other. She asked how your parents were, mentioning she had lost their phone number (or couldn’t remember it, but you didn’t say anything) so you said you would write it down for her.
She told you about her diagnosis and gushed about how helpful and supportive Lance has been. You read into her expression, the sadness she held back, trying to hide the finality of her illness, perhaps for Lance’s sake you wondered.
She complained about her hair, scratching an itch through the fabric that surrounded her scalp, and made a negative comment about herself.
“Don’t say that mom, you’re beautiful,” Lance boasted.
“I’m an old woman,” she pouted, “If you’re talking about beautiful look at Y/N. Look at you, a grown woman now!”
“She’s gorgeous,” Lance declared with a wide smile spreading across his face.
Dorothy insisted you stay for dinner. She didn’t have much of an appetite but she would sit with you all the same. Lance fired up the barbecue outside as you prepared the burger patties, along with some corn to be roasted. Dinner was lovely and Dorothy ate a quarter of her hamburger with some corn Lance had cut off from the cob to make it easier for her.
You washed dishes as Nadia helped Dorothy in the bathroom. She hated that she needed the assistance but over the last few months she had become very weak and couldn’t manage to do much without the fear of falling. You declined dessert but grabbed a dark chocolate bar for Dorothy from the pantry. Nadia broke off a small square and Dorothy placed it in her mouth, letting it dissolve on her tongue.
“I can’t…” Dorothy began, and all heads turned to face her. “I can’t remember your wedding dear,” she said, speaking to you. You side eyed Lance a concerned look. “I’m sorry, I can’t remember it but I know you looked beautiful. Lance, remember how beautiful she looked. Oh, I was so happy for you two,” she sighed.
Based on her broken details you realized she meant your Junior Prom but no one corrected her. “I’m so happy you’re still together. I always knew you were meant for each other.”
You and Lance shared an awkward smile. Making up was still so new but you tried to hide the discomfort from Dorothy.
You left shortly after so Dorothy could get to bed, promising to stay in touch. Lingering outside your hotel Lance thanked you for seeing his mom. You were glad you did, seeing the woman you considered a second mother once again after all of these years.
Your cheeks began to heat up feeling Lance’s eyes on you, looking up to see him he turned away and blushed. You weren’t sure why you were nervous but the butterflies in your stomach were fluttering around rapidly.
“I guess I’m gonna go.” The words fell from your lips a little breathless as the tension in the car grew thicker.
“Oh, okay. Goodnight Y/N,” he said, his blue eyes focused on you.
You twisted in your seat to kiss him goodbye, intending on going for his cheek. Lance leaned in as well, awkwardly turning to the wrong direction as he meant to do the same. Your heads nearly collided and you both chuckled softly, finding each other’s eyes again.
Time stood still, all of the sound around you became a quiet hum. Your gaze went to his plush lips, his tongue dragging across to wet them. Your teeth slowly grazed your bottom lip, letting go once your eyes met his again, seeing his pupils dark and hungry.
The gap between you was slowly closing until your lips hovered mere centimeters apart, feeling his hot breath fall on your lips. Shutting your eyes you pushed forward to press your lips to his. It was a slow kiss, soft and passionate with years of emotion built behind it.
When Lance opened his mouth slightly to run his tongue along your bottom lip you felt the fire that was simmering inside you ignite to a full blaze. You pulled away, knowing it would be best to say goodnight right then instead of good morning tomorrow. Sauntering back towards the hotel you turned around to wave goodbye one last time flashing a coy smile before heading inside

a trick or a treat
pairing: renjun x reader
word count: 1.5k
genre: fluff?, angst? kind of?
warnings: all lowercase??
synopsis: you go trick or treating with renjun, who’s know what will happen??
Tumblr media
“do you have your costume ready, y/n?” renjun asks you over the phone.
“uh.. no? i didn’t think we would be going trick or treating this year.” you respond slowly.
you were currently laying down in your room, trying to catch up on some homework. halloween was in about a week, but you didn’t really care about it to be honest. school was stressful, and that’s what you needed to focus on at the moment.
“what would make you think that?” renjun asks, surprised.
“oh i don’t know! maybe it’s because we haven’t gone in the past two years? or maybe it’s because we’re too old?” you say.
you suddenly hear the most exaggerated gasp coming from renjun, through the phone. chuckling a bit, you show a small smile.
“y/n, the only reason we haven’t gone, is because something came up on halloween. like i had to babysit, that one time, and you were puking all night two years ago.” renjun reminds you.
“mhmm. and this year, i’ve got a whole bunch of homework, so..”
“alright, y/n! this is what we’re going to do. you are going to find a costume. you are going to complete your homework. and you are going to go trick or treating with me. deal?”
“renjun, it really isn’t that simple. look, i’m going to try my hardest to get all of this homework out of the way, but if it doesn’t happen, i’m sorry renjun but i can’t go with you.” you tell him truthfully.
“fine! just know that if i don’t get to go trick or treating this year because of you, i’m not doing your christmas movie marathon.” renjun exclaimed.
eventually ending the call, you quickly went online to look at some of the costumes that were on sale. scrolling through page after page, there was nothing that caught your eye. Everything was just a variety of sexy this or sexy that, but all you wanted was to be comfortable.
going back to do your homework, you tried to complete as much as you could, just for renjun. the next few days consisted of renjun nagging about your halloween costume. renjun didn’t want to tell you what he was dressing up as, because apparently, you will be amazed. you dragged renjun to a store to buy some animal onesie that they sold.
“It’s between a unicorn or a dragon, renjun. you have to help me choose.” you say as you walk out of the dressing room. you thought you looked silly in both of the costumes, but nevertheless, you wanted renjun’s opinion on the two “costumes”.
laughing a little while looking at renjun, you cover your face slightly to hide your embarrassment.
“I think both of them are ridiculous. but i like them on you.” he states nonchalantly.
“i mean, like, you look silly in them, and it works because they’re just some random costumes. not that i like them on you specifically, although you do look ador-” he continues quickly.
“alright renjun, i get it. gosh you’re such a dork! just help me choose a costume!” you tell him while ruffling up his hair a bit.
“uh.. i like the dragon!” he responds shyly.
you finally purchase your “costume” and drag renjun out of the store, but not before stopping near the exit where you see bags of candy corn.
“renjun. will you please please go and buy this for me? i’ll pay you back, i just don’t want to wait in line again.” you ask him.
rolling his eyes, he grabs the bag from your hands and jogs to the line. smiling, you wait outside of the store.
“let’s go.” renjun says while walking in front of you, after tossing the bag of candy corn in your direction. instantly  perking up, you open the bag and grab a few to munch on while you walk home. grabbing a few more, you put it in renjun’s direction, indicating that you wanted him to eat some.
he turns his head the other way, not accepting your offer. “renjun! eat some! i know you like cand corn! remember that these are seasonal and you won’t get these for a while.” you convince him. he slowly opens his mouth so you pop two pieces of the candy in it with a smile on your face.
“halloween is in two days, y/n. We’re going trick or treating, right?” renjun suddenly asks.
nodding your head yes, you show him a smile with candy corn still in your mouth.
“i think i’m all caught up with school, so you don’t have anything to worry about.” you tell him.
pulling you into a side hug, renjun says, “great! we both have our costumes! i’m so excited!”
on halloween night, you quickly got ready to go trick or treating. looking in the mirror, you thought you looked ridiculous, but renjun seemed to like it so you decided that it was cute enough to wear. you place the hood of the onesie on before you hear the doorbell to your house ring. you assume that it was renjun because you checked the time and it was about the time renjun said he would be arriving. as soon as you open the door, you were greeted by a few loud “trick or treat!” that were yelled by a group of kids. they startled you quite a bit, resulting in a small jump, but nevertheless, you grab the large bowl of candy that was placed next to the door and grab a handful to put in each child’s bag. a series of thank you’s were said before the group of kids scurried to the next house down the street.
closing the door, you take a seat on your couch waiting for renjun to text you that he arrived. You eventually hear your doorbell ring once again, so you get up and grab the bowl once more. opening the door, you weren’t greeted by any children, but instead a teenage boy in a moomin costume.
“trick or treat?” renjun mocked before showing you a smile. you suddenly died of laughter after you were able to take in what he was wearing.
“you look cute, renjun!” you exclaim before grabbing his arm and dragging him out towards the sidewalk.  You didn’t know this, but while renjun was trailing behind you, a small blush dusted across his cheeks.
“you look cute too, y/n” he mutters under his breath so you didn’t catch it, but that pink on his cheeks would have turned a crimson if you did.
“where should we start? i overheard my little sister say that the houses with the best candy is three streets down.” you inquire while finally letting go of renjun’s arm. the sudden loss of contact resulted in renjun slightly pouting. quickly recovering, he puts his arm over your shoulders before saying, “we can go wherever you want! i just want to spend some time with you!”
“aww, that’s sweet! we can pass this street and start from there, okay?” you beamed while leaning into renjun a little bit.
finally arriving to the first house, both and renjun emmit a “trick or treat!” to which you both recieved handfuls of candy. you carried on with this until both of your bags were full. admittedly, some people didn’t give you candy because apparently you and renjun were “too old to be trick or treating”. you weren’t upset, but you had to make sure renjun didn’t fight them right then and there. it was definitely a sight to see.
the last place you stopped by was the library. it seemed strange, but when you and renjun were young, the library always gave out full sized candy bars, and that isn’t an opportunity you wanted to miss. once you finally got the last of the candy, you settled down in one of the seats in the library. it was a cozy atmosphere, with the lights and heater contrasting from the dark, cold night. renjun took a seat across from you. taking a glance at him, you couldn’t help but laugh at his adorable costume for the fifth time this night.
renjun peered into his bag and pulled out two chocolate bars. he opened one slightly and handed to you, before doing the same to his. grabbing it from renjun’s hands, you take a large bite, savoring the sweet flavor.
“y/n, i’ve been meaning to tell you something.” renjun suddenly mentions out of the blue.
“what’s up?” you respond, while finishing the candy.
“um, this might be awkward, and i want you to tell me if this ruins everything, and that it you hate me, okay?” you nod your head, suddenly extremely curious about what he has to say.
“alright, well, i like you, y/n. like so much. and i just wanted to tell you that.” renjun rambles slightly.
“really?”
“yes. i really do.”
“okay. come help me choose a book to check out.”
