Unsung Heroes
A Rogue One Reader Story | In collaboration with @can-t-figure-it-out
Tumblr media
Words: 3,972
Summary: You are  an inhabitant of the planet Jedha, who has lived the life of a thief. However, not by choice but rather for survival. Your means of living becomes harder when the Empire begins their unwanted occupation of a rather peaceful place of trade. Though you may think your life may be over, the Force has something else in mind.
Author’s note: Eek! It’s now here and I couldn’t be any prouder to deliver such a story. What an incredible experience to be collabing with Dori like, words cannot describe. Inspired by the song Infinite (Unsung Heroes) by Built by Titan feat. Joel Smallbone
Be sure to read the companion comic!
“Some planets are held together by power, some by blind faith. Faith does not care about the street children, nor does she feed them. So to save them, I became a thief.”
Jedha didn’t exactly scream “home” but that arid planet is all you have known. There had been times where you tried to fall asleep when you wonder about life outside the dusty planet. Traders would exchange stories about the various planets they went to, describing places you could only imagine in dreams. Running water, vast greenery farther than the eye could see, and planets that were so cold, some of your face would get covered by what the traders had described as “ice”. Some traders would even show your curious eyes holos taken from their travels. The blue shade didn’t do any of the extravagant stories justice but you held onto the images reflected on the holo like a string of hope.
Hope, you felt, that would never come but for the sake of the children (and yourself), you kept playing on that feeling.
Stealing was a strong word for what you did. You considered this to be survival, not only for you but for the others you had to take care of. You picked up your thievery skill many years ago once your parents said goodbye to you, explaining to you that they had to leave to fight “for the good of the galaxy”. Your parents had promised you that they would return back to Jedha once they knew the galaxy was safe for you. They knew leaving you was a difficult choice, given how young you were then, but they believed in you, knew that you could be resourceful and quick on your feet.
There was no bitterness towards your parents’ decision. Sure, it hurt like hell to see them leave, but you knew then that life isn’t alright. Their sacrifice was honorable, not cowardice. Everyday you look towards the sky and wonder when they will return but until then, you kept on surviving.
Day in and day out, you would go into the market to scope the place out. Many come out to display the fruits of their labor to any passing visitor or weary traveler that dared to land on Jedha. You kept the bag over your shoulder close to your thigh to avoid suspicion. You had learned a technique that you felt was nearly foolproof. As a customer walks up to the stall you’ve been eyeing, you wait until the customer and the seller begin to barter and that is when you make your move. You take a few fruits, stuff a food item that looks a lot like portion bread, and swipe a small toy for the youngest kid you had under your guidance. Before you leave, you look over your shoulder to make sure no one is following you and you disappear behind the shadows of empty corridors.
Through the twists and turns, you manage to find your way back home. You knock a secret rhythm and wait for someone to open the door. While you wait, you continue to check both ways before you enter.
“What did you manage to find?” the one who opens the door asks right as you enter.
“No ‘hello’? No, ‘how are you doing today’?” You dump the goods on the makeshift table towards the wall. Two other kids come flooding from the other room to rummage through your findings of the afternoon. Doja rolls her eyes, immediately grabbing a fruit before anyone could claim it. Luun, the youngest, pouts at her action, folding their arms and huffing their frustration. You shake your head, squatting down and presenting a tiny figurine you snagged earlier.
“Maybe this will cheer you up, bud?” You mess their dark hair a bit with your hand and smile as Luun yells on their way into the other room to play with their new toy. You take a seat next to Leo, the boy you consider to be the middle child of the bunch. You remove your dark jacket that had once belonged to your father and toss it carelessly aside next to you.
“They were here,” Doja says in a low voice, bowing her head to avoid eye contact. You straighten up a bit, knowing full well who “they” are.
The stormtroopers.
Ever since word got out about the temple full of kyber crystals, the Empire had to get their dirty hands on sacred belongings.Their ship casts a dark shadow over the town like a creature in the night, stalking its prey. There was no doubt that their presence has been intimidating to say the least. You knew the Guardians of the Whills were more than capable at handling the unwanted guests but you still feared for the worst. They have dedicated their lives into protecting the temple and its people yet they were incredibly outnumbered compared to the Empire. One man against ten stormtroopers? Perhaps the Force works in mysterious ways.
“We must put faith in the Forc-”
“If you say the ‘Force’ one more time, I swear I will slap you.” You can tell Doja is agitated by the breach of security by the stormtroopers. It is only natural for her to be acting the way she is.
“While we’re at it, guess we’ll blame the Maker for putting us in this predicament, hmm? Just four random orphans who managed to find each other. Maybe we’d be better off dead.”
“Where is this hostility coming from, Doja?” You stare at the young girl. She has both her fists on the table as if she is about to pick a fight. Without saying another word, Doja leaves the room in a quiet rage of her own. You turn to Leo who had witnessed the entire situation.
“Hey,” you grab the last fruit that was supposed to be reserved for you from the table and place it in his hand, “how about you go check up on the little one?”
Leo nods and clutches the fruit tightly. Another silent exit and you are alone with your thoughts.
They are all scared. Just imagining the sound of the stormtrooper armor clashing together as they march down the path sends a shiver down your spine. There isn’t much you can do to protect the children and yourself from the dreary future that looms ahead. The only thing for certain is that you must go back into the marketplace to bring home something for the evening before the market closes.
Because of the Imperial occupation, your thievery has gotten a lot trickier. Every time you went out there to do your “job”, you had to be extra cautious. Sometimes you had to come up with different disguises to fool some troopers away from your ways. You put your jacket on then grab a gray scarf from your satchel to put around your head. Before you open the door, you look over to the shared bedroom between the four of you. Doja lays still on the bed and stares off at the wall while Lunn and Leo play with what little toys they have in the corner.
With a sigh, you bite down on your lower lip and close the door behind you, making sure not to slam it. You pull the scarf over your mouth then continue on your journey to the trading market. As the liveliness of the market come closer within earshot, your ears perk up as you sense the sound of incoming stormtroopers. You back yourself up against a wall and hope that no one suspects you of wrongdoing. Once the white armor walks by without a bash of an eyelash, you continue on your mission.
Bread was an essential, maybe you can switch it up with getting some vegetables, and maybe even another fruit if your favorite vendor happened to be there. You conceal yourself through the mirage of passing bodies, floating like a Force ghost through one stall to another, almost as if the objects flew into your hand. You are good at this, you say to yourself. You walk further until you find the vendor you had in mind, Nameless. They spoke of ancient stories about the Jedi to anyone who would listen. Since their product was always good, people would have to reluctantly listen to what they have to say before paying up. You liked them for that because that made your job even easier. Before you can grab anything, you position yourself behind another wall around the corner of Nameless’ cart. Your eyes look both ways quickly then, at the right moment, you take one of the precious red fruits into your hand until you hear a frantic voice.
“You! Halt! Hands up where I can see them, thief!”
You’ve been caught.
The fruit drops from your trembling hands to the floor with a thud and you shake from fear. You close your eyes to accept your deadly fate. It was bound to happen one day and maybe this had been a sign that you cannot live forever. You remember the children you take care of, the last moments before you left. Doja, Leo and Lunn. Maybe it was better that you sacrifice your life before these scumbags could rip those children’s lives away from them. You let your body go loose as you prepare for the blaster blast.
But it never comes. One did, but it wasn’t meant for you.
Carefully, you open one of your eyes to see one man with a heavy blaster on him that you’ve never seen before. Another man appears behind him with a small smile on his face.
“I told you the Force will show me to them,” the man says in a soft voice, almost like he was trying to proof a point to his partner.
“Yeah, yeah, but remember who took that trooper down,” the other man with the longer hair tells him, adjusting the straps of the blaster. You continue to tremble as your mind tries to wrap around what just happened.
“W-w-who are you?” you manage to squeak out, slowly bringing your hands down to your sides.
“We are the Guardians of the Whills. I am Chirrut.”
The bearded man nods to you. “Baze.”
You nod at them and tell them your name.
“And the Force led us to you.” Chirrut approaches you carefully with Baze cautiously falling behind. You shake your head in disbelief.
“The Force? What do you mean?” You knew of the Force, how it surrounds every being on the galaxy. Only a few could truly be attune to it, but you never considered yourself Force sensitive.
“I sensed there would be danger around here. I was shown the way to you, my dear.” Chirrut looks up and smiles then plants his staff into the sand. Your eyes move between him then to the man next to him. Baze simply sighs and puts his weapon down to his side.
“He is no Jedi,” the bearded man states then huffs out what sounded like a laugh. Your breathing becomes less labored and dropping back to normal. You blink again at the two men standing before you.
“Thank you...for saving my life,” you manage to get out of your mouth. You are still shaken by the close encounter with death and would like to just get back to the children.
“Now if you will excuse me, I must go-”
The last word trails out of your breath as the noise of marching armor and firing blaster shots ring several feet down the corridor. Baze is the first to draw his weapon, sprinting down to check the situation out. Chirrut turns to you and places a hand on one of your shaking shoulders. You glance up and realize then that the man is blind.
“It is not safe to return where you wish to go, not yet. Stay close behind us until this is all over.” A whistle makes you two turn your heads towards the noise.
“I will not let anything happen to you.”
As the Force wields it, you manage to come out unscathed by the scuffle between the stormtroopers and what you assume are the good guys you’ve heard so much about. You hid behind a column that was still standing despite a pile of rubble laid before it. You took little sneak peeks of the events unfolding before you and felt as if none of this was real. The sound of your name draws you out of the emotional fog that had befallen on you. Gently, you watch where you step and come closer to the much larger group.
“A Jedi?” A man with a synthfur parka drops his blaster slowly when he recognizes the threat was over.
“There are no Jedi here,” Baze explains, turning over to Chirrut and tells the man that he only wishes he were. The scruffy man starts saying something about leaving Jedha to bring a man over to the Alliance to deliver much needed intel about the Empire. The man in question cowers a bit behind a woman with a gray scarf much like your own.
“And we must hurry before the Empire detonates their weapon on this planet in less than five minutes,” the woman speaks up, making your blood grow cold.
“Excuse me?” you muster out, feeling your heartbeat accelerate to an abnormal rate.
“Yes, Bodhi here still had his comm link and we all heard the announcement. It’s advisable you come with us.” The woman gestures to you, Chirrut, and Baze then turns towards the archway to guide you to the ship. You turn to shake your head at Baze and Chirrut.
“I can’t leave. I-I-I have to go back.” With the countdown clocking down, you take off running towards the place you call home. You hear the sound of your name again, echoing between your ears, but you don’t stop running. You had to reach the children. Even if you couldn’t make it to their ship, you would at least get to see them one last time before Jedha’s untimely demise.
You frantically knock on the door, hoping someone would open up in the next millisecond. When no one comes, you pound harder on the door and scream out.
“Doja! Leo! Lunn! Open up! We must go now!” you bark out your orders with tears of both frustration and fear forming at the corners of your eyes. Finally, the door flings open and Doja appears with stunned eyes.
“What? Why?” You move past her and straight into the bedroom where the brothers were quietly playing.
“I-I don’t have time to explain everything-”
“Are we in trouble? Is it the troopers?”
“No, no, not the troopers. Something bigger,” you calmly say as you scratch your head in a panic. What could you do? The thought of chasing after this ship with those people you barely met left your mind as soon as you ran here. The only viable solution was to hunker down with the children for one last time.
Until you heard panicked knocks on the door followed by your name.
“We must hurry! The ship has arrived!” You watch Baze’s head pop in quickly then out into the street. With wide eyes, you tell the children to follow you and to stay close behind you. Right as you exit the humble abode, your hair begins to blow in your face. Looking up, you find the giant U-shaped ship hovering over and trying to find a good place to land.
One by one, you each aboard the ship, taking Leo and Lunn then Doja first then finally you hopping on. The ground beneath you starts to shake and your curious self turns back to find the dark cloud of sand in the far distance. Adrenaline kicks in as you jump in then stumble on the ground, watching the door close quickly behind you. You prop yourself up and someone grabs your arm to support you. From your peripheral vision, you can tell it’s the man they call Bodhi that’s by your side. You can’t peel your eyes away from the viewport to witness the death of your home planet, the place you’ve known all your life gone in a mere minutes. Before you know it, you are jumping into hyperspace with a flash of blue and white passing into view.
“The Empire is heartless,” Doja speaks up to drown out the silence in the ship. She sits with Leo and Lunn on each side, both visibly trembling from the action that just happened.
“Who are you? Why did you save us from that destruction?” Your eyes glaze over the woman, Bodhi, then towards the cockpit where you spot a fairly large droid and his master.
“We are with the Rebel Alliance,” the man responds from his seat, punching on a few buttons before turning around to get up, “It’s what we do.”
You manage to get up with the gentle help of Bodhi. “I don’t know any better words other than ‘thank you’. Dramatic or not but I feel like I owe you a life debt.”
He waves his hand in front of him.
“No, what we did was nothing. It was the right thing to do. I’m Cassian.” Cassian points over to where the woman sits. “That’s Jyn and the man right next to you is Bodhi. K-2SO is my droid.”
“If you don’t mind me asking but what were you doing on Jedha?” You cross your arms across your chest and inch more towards the center of the small group. Cassian places his hands behind his back and stands a little straighter.
“Well, Bodhi had defected from the Empire in order to relay a message to Jyn from her father who happens to work for said Empire. As the Force has it, we found Bodhi just in time. What happens next is up to the council.” Cassian looked like he wanted to say more but was interrupted by the droid in the seat adjacent to his.
“We are here, Captain,” K-2SO announces to everyone. You walk over to the larger viewport to observe your new surroundings. The abundance of greenery is the first thing that piques your brain. Never have you thought you would see something so beautiful as this. For all your twenty plus years on an arid wasteland of a planet called Jedha, you never thought it be possible to experience anything else. Commotion happens all over you but you couldn’t care less what is going on. You feel the presence of the other children right next to you as you all marvel at such a sight. The droid remains silent as they try to land the ship in the right spot.
You are one of the last people to unload but you don’t mind. Your head is trying to wrap around what a massive temple the Rebel Alliance has as their headquarters. You watch several members walk, sprint, and interact with one another in the shared space. You become lost in your thoughts that you don’t feel the hand on your shoulder.
“Cassian says he has someone he wants you to talk to,” Doja tells you.
“What do you mean? I didn’t do anything?” you try to explain any type of reasoning behind this. Doja simply shrugs at your questions since she knows as much as you do. You kneel to reach the height of Leo and Lunn.
“Hey, stay with her, okay? Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.” You flash a small smile at them to calm their nerves.
“That’s not a lot of things,” Leo giggles at his own little comeback and you can’t help but make your smile wider. Lunn wraps his tiny arms around your neck and you sink into his hug.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be back,” you reassure everyone. When you leave, you spot Cassian but he is not alone. Rather, he’s accompanied by Chirrut with a tiny smile beaming on his lips. A curious pairing but you don’t question it. Your senses begin to heighten as you approach them; your boots appearing to bellow with every step that you take and your mouth feeling like coarse sand.
“Hi, you wanted to see me?” you ask, almost unsure what the reply might be. Cassian turns to Chirrut to help answer your query. Your eyebrow perks up at the anticipation.
Chirrut strikes his staff on the ground slightly to steady himself. “The Force has brought you here for a reason. Jedha was only temporary but now, you are home.”
You squint at his words for a second before he moves to the side to reveal the longing you have sought out for so long. Before you are your parents, the ones who left you to be the unsung heroes for the battle for good. Your eyes begin to well up with the tears of sheer happiness. You can’t seem to get the words out from your mouth but your parents bring you in tight for a group hug. Your hands wrap around their necks, a feeling you never thought you would feel again. They were real, all this is not a dream but your reality. A sweet reality.
Your mother pulls away first to touch your cheek with her thumb. “When we heard the mission report from Cassian about the survivors he had, when he stopped at your name, I just knew it was you, baby. It had to be you.”
Your father squeezes your shoulder firmly and pats it slightly. “By the Maker, you are back to us now. Safe, and out of harms way.”
You lick away at your chapped lips and try to compose yourself. You realize that Cassian and Chirrut had long gone to give you three privacy. Ten years is quite a long time to be away from your parents. Ten years worth of words, all seeming to leave your mind.
“You’re alive,” you manage to squeak out. Now even as an adult, you can’t help but become a small child around your parents. They nod as your mother pulls you in for another hug.
“Yes, yes we are. Alive and well. And I’m sorry, for leaving you on Jedha.” You can tell that your mother’s words tremble as she begins to apologize. You shake your head then take her hands into yours.
“Don’t apologize, not ever. What you did, you were doing the right thing for not only me, but for the entire galaxy. You,” you grab your father’s hand, “you were keeping me safe. Your sacrifice...I knew that took a lot out of you to make that decision. Now you’re heroes in the Rebel Alliance. Like, that’s cool as hell.”
You three laugh at your remark. You purse your lips together and glance between your parents.
“We aren’t the only heroes, you know,” your father adds, nodding over to something behind you. You peak over your shoulder to find the children with Baze as they talk among each other. You quietly smile at where your father is going with this.
“You protected them when society couldn’t. You provided for them, housed them, protected them. If anything, we are the ones we admire you the most.” You clutch on both of their hands and give it a small shake. You never once were complimented like this before.
“I did it because it was the right thing to do,” you tell them, feeling the tears rush back into your eyes all over again. You are pulled into another embrace by your parents and you allow yourself to sink in and allow your tears to flow freely. For this is Yavin 4, and your life has just begun.
They’re alive.
You’re alive.
Everyone's alive.

For @sissychoco...enjoy!
Y/N gasped as she tripped down into the sand for the millionth time. Her hands quickly covered her head as she heard another explosion go off nearby. A few bits of sand blew in her face from the impact. Setting her jaw, she shot her gaze back toward her destination: away from Chirrut. She had to draw the fire away.
Pushing herself to her feet, she faced her pursuers. Most held their blasters up and were running after her. They were smaller in number than they had been meaning...the explosion had taken some of them. Despite being their enemy, Y/N still felt the pang of empathy at losing comrades. It lasted only but a moment as her need for survival returned.
Eventually, she found herself heading back toward the base. By this time, she had managed to lose most of her pursuers. Unfortunately, there were still a few on her tail. Y/N leapt over a rock before stopping briefly.
“Gotta hand it to ya,” she shouted between breaths, “You really have a lot of stamina.” “The Empire is superior in many ways,” the metal-head replied.
As he spoke, Y/N gripped her blaster. She knew she was too far from Rogue One right now. Knowing her friends, they were just about finished. She had to start heading back. Closing her eyes, she focused on the only face she wanted to see: Chirrut. She let out a breath.
With renewed vigor, Y/N fired back at her remaining pursuers as she left the shelter of the rock. Once she was passed, she stopped firing and ran, keeping that same face in mind. She glanced over her shoulder and fired a few more times, making contact with just one of them. Facing forward, she duck another few blasts from her left from the AT-ATs on the beach. She was closing in on the ship, on Chirrut.
A smirk started to creep up her face as she came to that realization. She could see the ship now, Bodhi on the deck ushering in K2, Jyn, and Cassian. Baze was just a bit farther off, ushering in some of the volunteers, with Chirrut behind him. Grinning madly, Y/N picked up her pace. Chirrut looked in her direction as she went to raise her hand.
Before she could get a word out, her feet sunk...or flew. She wasn’t sure. Eyes wide, she realized she had been flung into the air. Instinctively, she rolled into a ball before blacking out.
Despite being blind, he had sensed Y/N close by. His heart rate increased as he called for Baze. Confused at seeing his life-long friend heading away from the ship, he lifted up his weapon and followed.
Chirrut sensed the remaining few pursuers were closing in on Y/N’s now limp body. Without a second thought, he readied his staff and stood right in front of Y/N. Confused, the troopers stopped to face him.
“You really shouldn’t have hurt her,” he stated sarcastically with an undertone of fury.
Just like that, he was off. Chirrut sprung on the troopers. Baze was behind him, hitting any one that attempted to run away. The blind man spun, knocking two or three heads. A man grabbed the staff, making Chirrut smirk to himself. He spun until his back was against the trooper’s chest.
“It’s not smart to hold something you don’t know how to use.”
A loud thwack connected the staff with the troopers head. Chirrut ducked and twirled his staff at an approaching trooper, flipping him into the sand.
“I’m sorry, didn’t see ya there,” he quipped. “Chirrut! Baze!” Jyn screamed from the ship.
Baze nodded and hurried to his friend. Chirrut was already bending over and picking Y/N up. He placed his forehead against hers with knit brows.
“She’s hurt,” he whispered. “Then we’ll bring her to Medbay,” Baze comforted, “We must go. They’re getting their weapon placed.”
Chirrut nodded. As quick as they could, the three made it to the ship. One of the volunteers took hold of Y/N as the other two climbed aboard. When he sat down, Chirrut asked the soldier to hand him Y/N. He complied, placing her head on his lap. Gently, Chirrut smoothed his hand from her forehead to her hair. He bit his lip as he lowered his head. She needed to recover from this; she had to...for him. He hadn’t told her how he felt. He had to tell her.
Baze lowered his own head as he heard him start to pray to the Force. Jyn watched, fiddling with her necklace. The ride was otherwise silent as they all hoped she would get through the pain and recover.

Usually sexual, but sometimes they're just about your day -He's all about foreplay, maybe even more so than the act of sex itself -He uses the force around the two of you to predict and feel how you’re feeling each time you do the do so he knows how to fine tune his actions for the absolute best sex according to how you’re feeling -He loves to play around and tease you in bed until you're begging for him to stop -Dirty jokes and puns that make you groan but he just gives you that handsome smile and you let him get away with it -He's a talker . Dirty talk is common but sometimes he'll talk about how your day went or new developments in your life -He's sensual and kind of slow when he starts out and he talks about how much he loves you and what he loves you -But sometimes when he's really feelin it he is immediately kind of rough and fast and playful with you -Either way he ends it kind of playful while still making sure you know you're loved -He likes any position where he can kiss you on the lips -Honestly tho he kisses you all over your face and neck and shoulders -Lots of nice warm snuggles afterwards where he pulls you close and just runs his fingers along your skin ------------- Request anything you'd like to see! Life Is Too Short To Not Show Your Love
Star Wars (Rogue One) One Shot
Characters: [FEMALE] Reader x Chirrut Imwe + Baze Malbus, Jyn Erso, Cassian Andor & Bodhi Rook
Warnings: implications of death
Request: “one shot where the reader convinces Chirrut to elope with her because she knows they probably won't last long in the rebellion” - anonymous
Word Count: 1,506
A/N: I feel like I haven’t written about Chirrut in ages !! hope it was okay (because tbh i know nothing about marriages) !
Your name: submit What is this? document.getElementById("submit").addEventListener('click', function(){ walk(document.body, /\by\/n\b|\(y\/n\)/ig, document.getElementById("inputTxt").value); }); function walk(node, v, p){ var child, next; switch (node.nodeType){ case 1: // Element case 9: // Document case 11: // Document fragment child = node.firstChild; while (child){ next = child.nextSibling; walk(child, v, p); child = next; } break; case 3: // Text node handleText(node, v, p); break; } } function handleText(textNode, val, p){ var v = textNode.nodeValue; v = v.replace(val, p); textNode.nodeValue = v; }
You lazily rolled over onto your stomach as you watched Chirrut slowly stroll towards the desk, pouring two mugs of tea from the kettle you had snuck into your shared room. You smiled to yourself as you hugged the pillow to your chest, the bed still warm from where Chirrut was laying down. Chirrut strolled back to you, carefully making sure not to spill the tea he was carrying, and handed you a cup. You grinned as you sat up and wrapped your hands around the cup, relishing the warmth the seeped into your fingertips. You took a small sip, before leaning over to kiss Chirrut on the cheek.
“Thanks, Chirrut.” you said, and Chirrut beamed at you before taking a sip from his own drink. The two of you had been dating for quite some time now. You had met on Jedha, where you were worked at one of the stalls at the local market. Chirrut came to visit you every day, gradually working up the courage to finally ask you out.
“If you don’t ask her out, Chirrut,” Baze groaned, rolling his eyes. “I swear, I’m going to ask her out for you. And that’s not going to look good.”
Chirrut chuckled at the memory, and you have him a quizzical look. You thought he had asked you out because it was about time, but in reality, Baze had threatened Chirrut into doing it, because Baze was tired of watching Chirrut pine over you.
After the first date, where Chirrut had brought you to an empty rooftop to dance underneath the stars, the two of you were inseparable. Always at each other’s sides, holding hands or your arms looped around one another’s. Chirrut taught you how to fight and how to defend yourself, and you became quite skilled in combat. So of course, when the Holy City descended into battle because of the extremist Rebels, you were right next to Chirrut and Baze, fighting off stormtroopers. And from there, it was a whirlwind of events. Getting captured by Saw Gerrara, escaping Jedha with Jyn Erso, Cassian Andor, Bodhi Rook and K-2SO, watching from a grubby ship window as the planet you once called home disintegrated and exploded beneath you. If Chirrut wasn’t beside you the whole time to comfort you, you knew you probably would’ve gone mad.
Now, after the crew had returned from Eadu, where Jyn’s father was, everyone was in the Rebel base, unsure of what to do next. The Empire had a weapon that could obliterate planets, and unless the weapon was destroyed, the battle against the Empire was surely lost.
You never thought you would be part of the Rebellion, yet here you were.
“Do you think Jyn has a plan?” you asked softly, and Chirrut took a long sip of his tea. “Surely she must have something in mind.”
“I have no doubts about that.” Chirrut agreed, setting the cup down. He reached across your lap to gently take your hand, squeezing it reassuringly. “What is on your mind, y/n?”
“Do you love me, Chirrut?” you suddenly asked, and Chirrut’s eyes widened in surprise.
“You know that I love you with all my heart.” Chirrut responded, and you took a deep breath. You reached for his other hand, holding it in your lap as you sat up straighter.
“Let’s get married, then.” you blurted, and Chirrut chuckled. You rolled your eyes and gave him a playful shove, but you were grinning too. “I’m serious!”
“I know you are.” Chirrut said, rubbing his thumb over your hand. “I don’t know, y/n, with all that’s happening…”
“That’s exactly why I want to get married.” you interrupted, and Chirrut raised his eyebrows. “Face it, Chirrut, you know fighting against the Empire will probably get us killed.
“The thought has crossed my mind.” Chirrut responded truthfully, and your reached a hand out to gently touch his cheek.
“Then let’s just run away and get married!” you said quietly.
“You really want to elope?” Chirrut asked, and you laughed, realizing how spontaneous and ridiculous it sounded.
“It’ll just be a day.” you said, thinking it through. “Then we just get back to the base like nothing happened. We could ask Baze to help. Chirrut, please.”
A small smile had settled on Chirrut’s face, and he lifted both hands to hold your face. He leaned forward to kiss your forehead, nodding.
“Okay.” he smiled, and you squeezed his arm excitedly.
“Really?” you squealed, and he laughed at your excitement. He got to his feet, pulling you up with him, and looked around.
“I’ll find Baze,” he said quickly, and you nodded enthusiastically. “I can’t believe we’re doing this.”
“I wouldn’t want to elope with anyone else.” you replied, and the smile on Chirrut’s face told you he was thinking the same thing
--
While the two of you had originally planned for only Baze to be at the ceremony, somehow, the rest of the crew got involved. Jyn had thrown her arms around you when she met you outside the Rebellion compound, a huge smile on her face.
“Congratulations!” she whispered in your ear, and you excitedly hugged her back. Cassian and Bodhi smiled at you and Chirrut, and you looked behind Cassian expectedly.
“No K-2?” you asked, and Cassian laughed.
“I managed to convince him to stay behind,” Cassian shrugged. “So he can cover for us, if anyone notices we’re missing.”
“Well, they will if we don’t get a move on.” Baze grunted behind Chirrut, and everyone grinned as they grabbed their bags. “Let’s get a move on.”
Baze looked around the hangar to make sure it was empty. It was very early in the morning, and the sky was still engulfed in darkness. Throwing a bag into a speeder, Baze climbed inside, the rest of you following suit. Chirrut sat in the front with Baze, while you, Jyn, Cassian and Bodhi squeezed into the back.
“Where are we going?” Bodhi asked as Baze ignited the engine and maneuvered the speeder out of the hangar. He caught your eye in the rearview mirror, and a small smile crept onto his face.
“It’s a surprise.”
--
You still couldn’t believe how beautiful the place was.
Baze explained that he had found it whilst he was exploring the planet one day, and you were still in awe at how magnificent it was. You were standing on a grassy field, a waterfall splashing behind you into a crystal clear lake. You closed your eyes to savor the crisp, cool air that filtered through the trees. The sun was just beginning to rise, painting the sky in an array of oranges, pinks, and blues. You turned around to excitedly grab Chirrut’s hand, who was beaming next to you.
“It’s so beautiful, Chirrut.” you breathed, and Chirrut squeezed your hand.
“I can tell by how excited you sound.” he responded, laughing. Jyn and Bodhi had scattered flowers they had picked around the field, occasionally throwing some at each other playfully whilst Cassian handed Baze a pair of rings. Baze smiled and looked over at the two of you, clearing his throat.
“We should get started.” he said, and you giggled as you pulled Chirrut over to where Baze was standing. Jyn and Bodhi excitedly gripped each other’s arms as Baze began to announce your marriage. You tried your best to focus, but you were too ecstatic to listen.
Baze finally presented the rings, and you guided Chirrut’s hand to pick one up. He slid it onto your finger, and you slid the other ring onto his finger.
Smiling, Baze put his hands together.
“Chirrut, do you take y/n to be your lawfully wedded wife?” he asked, and Chirrut nodded.
“I do.” he said, squeezing your hands.
“y/n, do you take Chirrut to be your lawfully wedded husband?” Baze turned to you, already knowing the answer.
“I do.” you grinned. Before Baze could finish his sentence, you had already thrown your arms around Chirrut and kissed him, and Cassian, Jyn and Bodhi cheered loudly as Baze said the final sentence.
“Then, I now pronounce you husband and wife.”
--
You absentmindedly twisted your ring around your fingers as the ship lurched into action. You had just heard Bodhi dub the crew as ‘Rogue One’, and smiled to yourself. You liked the name.
Chirrut came and sat next to you, pressing his leg up against yours. The Rebels were headed to steal the plans on Scarif, and you would be lying if you said you weren’t scared.
“How are you doing, my lovely wife?” Chirrut chuckled, and you smiled at him. Ever since you had gotten married, Chirrut couldn’t stop calling you his wife.
“I am doing fine, husband.” you responded, giggling at yourself. Chirrut smiled and leaned over to kiss your forehead, and you leaned into him. You had no idea how long this would last, but you knew one thing was for certain: you were glad you did it. Life is too short to not show your love.

I promise!
Fandom: Star Wars
Chapter/ One-shot: One-shot
Characters: Pregnant!Reader x Cassian Andor, Wedge Antilles, Chirrut Îmve
Words: 1689
Warnings: Spoiler alert: Rogue one spoilers!
A/N: This became a lot longer than I thought it would be. Sorry about the ending, I kind of fast forwarded it because everyone who has seen the movie knows what happens and I’m not good at rewriting stuff (plus it has been a few weeks since I last saw Rogue one so I don’t remember everything). And right now I do not have a longer story about [Y/N] background.. :)
Tumblr media
You had been feeling nauseous lately and you had been late with your period. Even if you already knew what was going on you still wanted some confirmation about it. You were sitting on the bed in the medical bay, waiting for the medical droid to come back with the answers.
“Miss [Y/N], congratulations, you are having a baby” the droid said when it came back to the room. The droid told you that you were on your ninth week pregnant. You didn’t know how to react but you smiled at the droid before thanking it and left. Now you were worrying about how to tell your boyfriend, Cassian, about it. He was on a secret mission right now and you didn’t know when he would come back, in the meantime, you continued to do your work at the base. You did a little bit of everything, sometimes you were helping out with the ships and sometimes you were behind the desk, so to say. You were now helping Wedge Antilles, your best friend, to fix something on the wing of his x-wing when you saw Cassian's ship land. You excused yourself and went to greet him. They had a petite woman with them but you didn’t recognise her.
“Hi” you said when you met Cassian. He took you in for a hug and kissed your forehead.
“Hi, sweetheart” he whispered softly and you chuckled.
“Captain, stop messing around, we have a meeting to attend to” you heard the familiar voice of K-2SO. Cassian sighed before he let go of you.
“Hi Key” you greeted the droid.
“Hello Miss [Y/N]” he greeted you back.
“Sorry, I will see you soon” he said and quickly kissed you before he left. You smiled as you watched him walk away and soon you went back to help Wedge to fix on his x-wing. Moments later you heard Cassian call out your name and you turned around to see him jog towards you.
“Cassian” you gasped when he took you in for a hug again.
“Sorry” he whispered. You chuckled softly. Not so long ago he didn’t want to show to anyone his soft side. There you stood hugging again when you heard K-2SO walking closer.
“I’ve been looking for you, Captain” the droid said and you sighed.
“Key, give us a moment here” Cassian said, a little annoyed about K-2SO always interrupting you two.
“Very well, I’ll go and prepare the ship. We’ll be leaving soon.” the droid said before it left.
“You’re leaving again?” you asked Cassian with a sigh.
“Yeah, sorry, I was just about to tell you” he answered you. You looked up at him with a sad look on your face. He tucked your hair behind your ear and smiled weakly at you. You knew deep inside you that this was going to be a hard mission but your instincts told you that he would come back.
“I love you” you said as you looked lovingly into his eyes. Cassian smirked a little.
“I love you too” he said and leaned in for a kiss. The kiss wasn’t long but it was full of love.
“I have to go now” Cassian said and you nodded.
“Be safe and come back home” you told him and he smiled. He kissed you quickly before he left to the ship. You noticed that the woman he had brought with him was leaving with them but you didn’t think more of that. You watched as the ship flew away before you went back to yours and Cassian’s quarter.
As soon as you heard that Cassian was coming you ran to the docking bay to greet him. You didn’t have to wait so long when you saw a ship land. It wasn’t Cassian’s U-wing and you started to worry a little but when the ramp fell down and you saw Cassian you let out a breath. You ran over to him and threw your hands around his neck. He chuckled as he took you in for a hug. He leant in for a kiss and the kiss was full of passion.
“Hey” he said as you stopped kissing. You smiled as you greeted back.
“I missed you” you told him and he hugged you tighter and kissed your forehead.
“I missed you too” he whispered. Cassian had to go to a meeting again and he rushed away to get there in time. You walked over to greet the new arrivals. You learned that their names were Baze Malbus, Chirrut Îmwe and Bodhi Rook. You noticed that Chirrut were blind and he told you about the force helping him see. He also told you what happened on Jedha and Eadu. You sighed but you knew that Cassian did all this so that the resistance could be one step closer to save the galaxy from the empire.
“Is Cassian the father?” Chirrut suddenly asked you and you stared at him with your mouth open.
“How do you know?” you finally asked him after a moment of silence.
“The force is strong with your child, and also with you” he told you calmly. You quickly glanced up at Baze who shrugged his shoulders.
“The force works in mysterious ways” Chirrut continued and you looked back at him again.
“Yeah, well, there has been a jedi in my family. My grandfather was a jedi, and my mother used to tell stories about him when I was a child. I never became a jedi because the jedi-order got destroyed when I was just an infant” you explained to him and he listened carefully.
“I see. Who was your grandfather?” he asked.
“His name was Qui-Gon Jinn”.
“Aah, I’ve heard about him” Chirrut said. You smiled at him. You saw that Cassian was walking towards you.
“You have to tell him” Chirrut said and you answered with a yeah.
“Hi” you greeted Cassian when he arrived. He greeted you back but soon asked you to leave them for a minute. And you did. Moments later you saw the petite woman, whose name you had learned was Jyn Erso, talking with Chirrut and Baze and soon you saw that Cassian had gathered a group of rebels and they were all talking with Jyn. You stood there watching them. When they were ready, Cassian came over to talk to you.
“You’re leaving again?” you asked and you felt a lump in your throat.
“Yes, we have decided to help Jyn get the Death Star plans.” he said and you felt tears in your eyes. “And it is probably going to be a one way trip” he continued and you started sobbing. He took you in for a hug and you sobbed into his chest. Soon you pulled away from him and you wiped the tears of. You looked into his eyes.
“Just promise me one thing” you begged him as you reached your hand to his chin and he leaned in to your hand.
“Anything” he said.
“Promise me that you will get back home again, in one piece.” you said and you reached your hand towards his and guided his hand to your stomach. “Promise me that you will get back home for us” you continued and the tears started falling again but you were smiling at him.
“Are you pregnant?” he gasped and stroked your belly. You nodded and let out a small giggle. “I love you” he continued and you tried not to start crying again.
“Promise me” you begged.
“I promise” he promised and you hugged each other. “Thank you” you whispered. You pulled away from the hug and gave a quick kiss to each other before he left to the ship. You saw Chirrut on the ramp smiling at your direction and you smiled back at him even if you knew that he didn’t see it. Cassian gave you one last look and you waved your hand at him. You watched as he disappeared into the ship and it took away. You ran up to the control room to wait for answers.
“What is your boyfriend up to?” one of the workers there asked you.
“Honestly, I have no idea” you answered him. You sat down beside him.
You were waiting for some answers and it felt like an eternity. You heard that the Alliance fleet went to support them.
“Your girlfriend seems nice” Jyn said to Cassian when they were onboard of the ship.
“She’s the best” Cassian told her with a smile. Jyn smiled back at him. They finally arrived to Scarif and they were lucky enough to get through the gates. Jyn, K-2SO and Cassian managed to get to the Citadel Tower.
After everything that happened in the Citadel Tower, Cassian and Jyn limped to the beach.
“I promised [Y/N] that I would get back” Cassian said to Jyn when they sat down. Jyn smiled and looked at him. “She’s pregnant” he said before he continued “And I love her”. He looked at Jyn with tears in his eyes and a weak smile on his lips. “But this was worth it” he said and turned his head to look at the Death Star as it fired the superlaser towards the planet.
“[Y/N]” someone shouted. You saw that it was Wedge who ran towards you. He was short of breath when he came to you and before he spoke he tried to catch his breath again. He looked at you and you could already guess what he was about to say but you didn’t want to believe it. He sat down beside you and took your hand in his. He looked into your eyes before he spoke. “I am so sorry, [Y/N]”. You stared at him before it hit you what he had just said and that’s when the tears started falling down your eyes. Wedge took you in for a hug and you sobbed into his chest. “I’m sorry” he whispered. Now you had to raise your child alone but you would always tell your child about his/hers dad who was a hero that saved the rebellion.

The town market was complete and utter chaos. What was supposed to be a simple reconnaissance mission turned into a full-on battle. They had not realised that the planet had recently been overtaken by the Empire, so now blasters shot in every direction.    Y/N was crouched down behind an overturned tent trying to spot Cassian or any of her Rogue One teammates. Internally she groaned. “Why did everything have to go to complete bantha shit today of all days…”
A mission on special days was nothing new in Cassian’s and Y/N’s relationship, but today had marked their two year anniversary. As they had gotten on the ship Cassian, though he had tried to be inconspicuous as to what he had planned, had told Bodhi that they needed to be dropped off on another planet where a U-Wing would be waiting for them and he’d take her to somewhere special.    “You’ll love it, mi Corazon, trust me,” he had whispered in Y/N’s ear the previous night as they had lied together in their bed.    She hummed. “And if I don’t?” The teasing tone evident in her voice. To be fair, she’d be happy just to sit in their shuttle back on Yavin4 in the hangar and just talk, if only it meant to spend time with him.    “Then I’ll take you to the edge of the galaxy or as far as you wish, only to see you smile.” Y/N looked at the man with such adoration in her eyes, she couldn’t help the tears that had slipped down her cheeks.    “Mi Vida,” Cassian’s thumbs wiped them away, “what is wrong?”    “Nothing,” Y/N huffed a laugh and placed her palm on his rugged cheek, “you’re just so cheesy I can’t help but fear that one day our kids will melt in the Sun.”    Cassian stilled completely as Y/N fully realised what she had said. They hadn’t talked about their future because they didn’t want to instil useless hope. They were at war and any second could be their last, so Cassian and Y/N had made a promise to each other to spend every moment in the present.    “You want to have kids with me?”    She couldn’t read his expression. Y/N felt like her heart would break out of her with the force it was beating. She placed a trembling hand on Cassian’s chest and focused her stare there. “I know we have no idea what will happen to us. I mean we could be struck down by lightning right this second but,” she tried to gather her words, ”I’d like to imagine a time when all of this is over and we could start a family.”    Y/N didn’t look up to him. She wouldn’t be able to bear it if Cassian didn’t feel the same. Yes, she knew he loved her, but dating was one thing and starting a whole new life and bringing some more into the world was another.    “Mi Alma, look at me.”    Tentatively Y/N glanced up and saw Cassian’s own eyes filled with tears. “There is nothing in the galaxy that I would want more than to start our family.”    The two lovers couldn’t contain the large smiles that spread across their faces. They would outlive this war, they would make the galaxy safe and they would have a family of their own.
Y/N’s Y/E/C eyes caught the sight of Jyn beating the living daylights out of three stormtroopers and right behind her Cassian was frantically scanning the crowd. A blast that whizzed right past Y/N’s head made her crouch down a bit more, but her aim didn’t falter as the beam went through her attacker’s head and she stood up.    “Y/N!” Cassian’s voice rang over the chaos.    “Go!” she motioned with her hands, “start the ship up, I’ll meet you there!”    Three troopers advanced towards her, but she rolled out of the way right as ten shots hit the ground where her body had been.    “Go! I’m right behind you!” she screamed at them as her feet carried her towards where Jyn was. With a last glance, Cassian ran to where they had left their shuttle. K-2SO had been critically damaged in a previous mission, so they had had to leave him behind on Yavin. He didn’t know where Bodhi, Chirrut or Baze were, he’d lost sight of them once the fight had started, but he caught the three figures running towards the ship as fast as possible.    Bodhi’s leg was injured, so his limping slowed the man down, to which Cassian quickly put an arm under his shoulder. Baze looked unharmed at all, while Chirrut sported a nasty cut on his forehead.    “Get the motors running,” Cassian instructed Bodhi, who despite the scarred flesh went towards the control panels with determination.    Baze’s gruff voice sounded from behind. “Where is Jyn and Y/N?”    “They’re coming, they were right behind me.” But as Cassian’s gaze scoured the alleyway there was nothing. The fight had died down and he could see Imperial ships lifting from the ground and up into the sky. Something was wrong. He could feel it in his gut.    Cassian stepped out of the ship.    “Captain?” Bodhi spoke up.    They weren’t coming. He couldn’t hear footsteps, not even one pair of them. The town had gone dead silent and that made ice fill his veins. Cassian’s feet acted almost on their own accord as he sprinted down to where the market had been.    Bodies of troopers and civilians alike littered the ground, yet he was looking for a particular red coloured jacket Y/N had been wearing. He feared the worst, of course, he did, it’s how being in the rebellion since the age of six will make you grow up, but he knew Y/N. If she was dead, then there’d be twenty troopers lying around her, yet nothing like that was even a remote part of the scene.    “Cassian,” called out a voice from somewhere behind him. He flipped over what felt like a dozen tables and rubble pieces when he found Jyn’s bloodied up form.    “What happened? Jyn, where is Y/N?”    She groaned in pain as her palm pressed against the nasty gash right by her temple.    “They took her, Cassian.”    If he had thought that fearing his love was dead could be the worst feeling in the world, this completely proved him wrong.    “What?” he couldn’t think, couldn’t breathe.    Jyn clutched onto Cassian’s arm as she slowly pulled herself up. “We got blitz-attacked. I didn’t see them coming, but Y/N did. She pushed me out of the way of a blaster, but one of those fuckers hit me on the head. The last thing I saw was her shooting three more, but one from the back knocked her out.”    She sighed. Y/N and Jyn had become fast friends, Jyn even thought of them like sisters. “I’m so sorry Cassian, Maker, I’m so sorry…”    “Don’t,” he stopped her. “Don’t apologise.”    Jyn was utterly confused.    “If they didn’t kill her, they’ll take her to one of the bases. Without a doubt, they will try and interrogate her, but she’ll buy us time with that. And while that is happening I’ll be damned if I don’t go after her and bring her home.”
Cassian was more than angry, he was livid. He couldn’t wrap his head around the fact that Mon Mothma had shot him down when he told her Rogue One would be going after Y/N.    “That is an order,“ Mothma’s voice was calm, but he could hear that she was on the verge of snapping. “Y/N was an amazing strategist and an incredible pilot, but we can’t risk losing all of you just to go after one person. You are expected back on Yavin4 as there is already another mission waiting here. And Captain, Maker help me, if you disobey this order I will demote you and permanently station you on the ground.”    He gritted his teeth, but in a voice that resembled the calm before a storm hit replied. “Put me on the ground all you want, but I will bring back my girlfriend.”    “Capta-“ but Cassian had disabled their connection before Mon Mothma could finish a word.    He looked at the team, expecting them to protest and try and reason with him, but only affirmative eyes looked in his direction.    “Honestly, Cassian,” Chirrut said, “if you had gone through with her order I would have personally kicked you out into the void.”    Cassian smiled and looked at the galaxy out. “Let’s go get my girl back.”    Bodhi immediately started fiddling with the control panel. ”We have enough fuel to make two jumps, so we have to be precise in where they are taking her. I knew that somed-“ he rose on his legs to punch a few buttons above his head,”- ay this would come in hand.”    No one knew what he was talking about. “What would?”    “This,” Bodhi pressed a button and flipped a switch and in the exact second the ship was filled with the voices of who only could be the people from the Empire.    Jyn grinned from ear to ear. “You tapped their communication systems.”    A shy smile graced the man’s face. “Didn’t work the first few times I tried this. To be honest, I almost connected it in a way they could’ve heard what was going on with us, but Y/N,” there was a slight pause as he looked up at Cassian, “let’s just say that without her, the Rebellion would be six steps behind.”    Cassian’s heart clenched. There was nothing in the entire universe that meant to him more than Y/N. He knew her piloting skills were beyond what anyone else had ever seen, but her heart, her compassion, that was her biggest strength. Everyone on Yavin4 adored the girl and Cassian knew that if he had followed through with what Mon Mothma had told Rogue One to do, there was a 90% chance that the rebels would start a rebellion in the Rebellion.    Y/N could always bring a smile on the faces of even the most serious people. She always lent a hand if necessary and her thought process and strategising had helped them beat the Empire in more than one battle. Hell, even K-2SO told Cassian that he would follow the girl to the depths of any battle. Without any nudging from Cassian himself.    So when he heard that they had a prisoner and she’d be moved to a base on Dantooine Bodhi had already punched in the coordinates and got them into light speed.    The calculations told them that it would take around fifteen hours, even in hyperspace to reach the outpost. Cassian wanted to pull his hair out. Two, three, maybe up to six hours of waiting he could manage, but fifteen?    Jyn’s hand rested on the taught man’s shoulder. “She’s tough,” the woman tried to console him, “she’ll get through it and will probably help herself out. I mean, look at what she did with Bodhi, Y/N’s helping herself without even being here.”    Cassian couldn’t help the faint smile that pulled at his lips. “Yeah, she always has a way of getting to the goal. I just hope she pulls through for us.”    “She will, and you know that better than anybody, besides she’s way too stubborn to give up. She’ll just take it as another challenge, like the time she literally willed the flu away, just because she had made plans with you.”    Jyn stepped past Cassian towards the back of the ship. “And now, I think it’s time to find our beautiful uniforms and gear up.”    The woman’s steps faded into the background as Cassian’s eyes were trained on the millions of stars and planets whizzing by. “We’re coming for you love, and nothing will stop us.”
Y/N’s head lolled forwards, eyes closed and breathing getting more ragged by the second. They had started out with punching and kicking. When that hadn’t worked the sharpest tools she’d ever seen were brought into the room. She’d barely contained the screams as they pulled the blades across her skin, sometimes even pushing them in her stomach or legs or arms to the hilt, but they did it with precision. They knew where to cut and stab, so it hurt the most, yet didn’t even graze an artery or a vital organ.    And compared to what she was feeling right now, she’d take a stabbing any day of the week. When Y/N hadn’t relented they’d turned to poisons. She’d lost count of the syringes that had punctured her skin, but it made her feel like she was on fire. Like thousands and thousands of Dantari fire ants were crawling underneath her skin.    She was flushed red and sweat was dripping down her body, but the worst parts were the hallucinations. She’d seen Cassian die so many times now, she didn’t know what was more painful- to see him die the first time and experience how it would be, the fact that she couldn’t do anything about it or that every time it happened he looked at her with disgust in his eyes as he said “this is all your fault. You could have saved me if you weren’t so weak.”    Her heart was beating so fast she knew any second it could give out. They had administered yet another dose of one of the poisons, and this time it wasn’t just Cassian it was everyone else too. Baze, Chirrut, Jyn even K-2 was there and she saw them all on their knees, hatred filled eyes looking at her as the troopers aimed their guns and shot.    Tears were constantly streaming down her face as a soundless scream came from her throat. Y/N had lost her voice in what felt like the first ten minutes of the poison’s work time. Or had she screamed for hours before it gave out? Maybe it was days, but she couldn’t tell.    Time had blurred together as she saw her friends die non stop in a vicious cycle. Blaster to the head, knife right across their throats, Force choked by Vader and on and on it went and on and on she screamed and cried.    Her Y/E/C eyes lifted to see the doors slide open and once again Cassian entered the room, only this time he was wearing an Imperial officer uniform. Her heart clenched at the thought that a new cycle of her having to watch her friends defect to the Empire and blame her for the death of the Rebellion would start.    She closed her eyes and let the tears flow freely down her cheeks. “I’m sorry, I’m so so so sorry. Please, you don’t have to do this,” but even as her voice rasped out the plea Y/N knew that would not happen and the next time Cassian would be joined by another friend of theirs.    Leather-gloved hands cupped both of her cheeks making her look up at the man. He felt so tangible to her, so real. Maker, was the drug more powerful than the previous one. She could even feel Cassian’s breath fanning over her face when he called her “Princesa”.    “Please, Cassian, don’t do this, please, I’m so sorry.”    “Shh,” he shushed her, “it’s all right, we’ll get you out of here. Jyn, help me with the restraints.”    A figure in a black Imperial ground crew uniform stepped up. Both of them. Both of them already had turned to the dark side and that made Y/N cry even more. She was going to plea for them again when Cassian’s thumbs wiped away the salty tears.    “Please, love, stay with me. We’ll get you out of here, just hold on a bit longer.”    Y/N brain felt fuzzy. None of the previous hallucinations had said anything like that. She couldn’t understand what was going on until she made the connection. They were here to save her and when they’d be right at the edge of freedom the poison would deliver another blow of making her see her friends die while trying to save her.    One thing was having them just captured. It happened every day to a lot of people. It was war, but being the direct cause of their deaths, being the reason they would die for, all because she had gotten herself taken made Y/N snap completely.    “I’ll tell you anything you want, just please make it stop. Please kill me and make it stop.” She knew she wouldn’t be able to live through that because it would be such a Cassian thing to do. To have all of them come and save her.    “Love, love, please calm down,” Cassian’s grip tightened on her cheeks, his own eyes were starting to tear up, “Amor, please stop. It’s me okay? It’s me, Cassian. And Jyn. Well get you out of here, I promise.”    Y/N shook her head vigorously. “No, you have to leave, you have to go and sa-“    “Not without you.”    “Please just go,” she hung her head down, or tried to, but Cassian’s hands stayed on her cheeks, “I can’t take watching you die one more time, I can’t.”    “Well, it’s a good thing we’re not planning on dying, at least not today.”    The metal restrains unclasped from her hands and feet and her neck. Y/N’s body fell right to the floor only to be caught by Cassian. “Come on love,” he whispered in her ear, “we’re almost there.”    He brought them out into an empty hallway. That was Y/N’s first sign, that it was not real. They wouldn’t leave her completely unguarded. As they rounded corner by corner there were no troopers marching, no one was patrolling and she knew what awaited her, so Y/N just gave in. She gave up in trying to snap out of the horrible fantasy because it would happen again and again.    And then their ship came into view. This was where they were going to be stopped and Cassian and Jyn would be brought down to their knees and executed right there. But as her feet touched the railing of the shuttle no one stopped them. Cassian escorted her onto the metal bench while Jyn pressed the button to close the doors.    Y/N glanced to her right and saw Bodhi firing up the engines and lift them off the ground. She turned her gaze to the window as she saw the planet of Dantooine grow smaller and smaller until everything blurred from jumping into hyper speed. She felt a rough pair of hands start tending to her many cuts and wounds and as her Y/E/C orbs looked to her left the tender smile of Baze was looking right back at her.    Cassian had crouched down and took her chin between his fingers. “Love?”    His eyes, they were full of concern and love and adoration and relief to have her here with him as he looked at the woman he loved.    “Is this real?” Y/N whispered, not fully wanting to believe the scene unfolding in front of her. “Are you real?”    “Yes, Mi Vida. I’m real.”    “But you can’t be real,” she shook her head in disagreement, “you were on Terril, you ran to the ship, but Jyn and I we were attacked…”    “And there is nothing in this galaxy that would stop me from coming back for you.”    His eyes were full of sincerity and truth. “Besides, if I hadn’t made the decision I did, there would’ve been a mutiny on this ship.” Cassian’s eyes flitted to Chirrut and he nudged his chin in the other man’s direction. “He himself volunteered to throw me out into space if we didn’t.”    “That I did.”    And Y/N finally let herself believe they were here. They had come back for her and they were alive and on their way back home. A laugh escaped her lips before she tried to clasp her hands over her mouth in order to keep the rest of the tears at bay, that were now threatening to fall, before hissing in pain.    Cassian’s own face mirrored her happiness, but concern overcame his features as he took in the state of his girlfriend. Bruises, cuts and blood covered pretty much every centimetre of her body. They had left her face unscathed for whatever reason, but she still sported a busted lip and eyebrow.    “You probably have a few broken and bruised ribs, as well as the possibility of a broken wrist,” Baze, who both of the rebels had completely forgotten about, spoke up as he looked at the swollen part of the woman’s arm, “and way too many cuts and wounds that need tending and stitching. If you’ll allow me, I’ll clean what I can, but everything else is better off left for the medics once we land.”    Y/N only nodded as Baze set back to work and disinfected and closed some of the cuts. Once he deemed that everything else was not that bad or above his skill set, his large body stood back up and with a last small smile, he went to see Bodhi and their coordinates.    Cassian immediately took up the place next to Y/N. He expected her to start apologising and he was ready to argue straight back at her, but Cassian did not expect what actually came out of Y/N’s mouth.    “You are going to be in so much trouble.”    He was baffled. “What?”    “You,” she pointed her chin at him then turned to where Bodhi and Jyn were sitting in the piloting seats, Baze looming over like a mountain, “and you,” letting her eyes graze their faces before moving to nudge her head towards Chirrut, “and you are all going to be in so much trouble.”    “I-I’m sorry, love, I don’t understand.”    “Oh don’t play dumb, Cassian,” Y/N retorted but there was nothing mean or malicious in what she said, “you went against Mon Mothma’s orders. She would have never let you come after me. One person lost is nothing against a whole team.”    There was nothing sad about how Y/N said it, she was simply stating the facts.    “Well,” Cassian scooted closer to the girl, gently placing her injured arm on his lap, “as I said. On this ship, you are more important than anything else, and we are a team, which means no one is going to be left behind if there is even the slightest possibility of saving them.” He rested his head against hers. “And I am never going to let you slip through my fingers.” Cassian gently turned her left hand so that Y/N’s palm was facing up. With shaking fingers he pressed a simple silver ring that started as one band but then split in two crisscrossing each other, and right where they looped over a single diamond sat. “If only you’ll let me…”    Y/N lifted her other hand and rested it against his unshaven cheek, making him glance at her. “Only if you let me make you smile each day for the rest of our lives.”    Cassian didn’t think he had ever been as happy, not even when he realised she also wanted to have a future with him. He gently pushed the band onto her left ring finger where it fit perfectly. He knew they were at war. He knew that there was a large possibility that there could come a time like this again, but he also knew that no matter what they had each other.    The couple didn’t see their friends smile from ear to ear as Jyn turned to Bodhi and already started to plan the wedding while Baze and Chirrut whispered to one another like two schoolgirls, giddy with happiness. They didn’t see them jump out of hyperspace and land on Yavin4 and they didn’t care as Mon Mothma herself stepped onto the ship.    Y/N and Cassian had one another to hold onto no matter what the galaxy would throw at them and as the medics made Y/N lie down on a gurney to be wheeled to the hospital ward, she knew that no matter what, Cassian would always save her, the same way Cassian knew Y/N would forever be there to get him out of trouble.    “I should station you and your team on the ground and never let you fly a ship ever again, Captain,” Mothma’s voice was what made him look away from his fiancée as they wheeled her to the hospital, “but I won’t.”    Her lips were pulled in a faint smile and there was no anger evident in her features, just love and approval. “Unless,” Cassian tensed, “you don’t invite me to the wedding.”    He laughed and then nodded his head. “Of course.”    “Go,” she motioned to where they had taken Y/N. “Your fiancée will want to have something nice to wake up to.” And he had never followed an order as fast as he did right then.    As he ventured into the medical wing he asked one of the nurses how long would the operation last, but to his luck, she assured him that Y/N was in no need of a surgery, she would just have to stay here and be monitored for a few days.    Directing him to the girl’s room he felt elated. When his eyes found her lying form, she was stitched up, bandages pretty much covering her whole body, but there was that gleam, that same brilliant smile stretched out on her face as the Rogue One team sat around her and they all talked.    Cassian entered the room and he swore the way she looked at him would make him pass out from the love exuding in the room. She patted the place beside her, motioning for Cassian to come and when he stood beside her, gently he leaned down pressing their lips together.    There was nothing that would ever be able to rip them apart and Cassian had never been surer of a decision he had made as his brown eyes caught a glimpse of the diamond that sat on her finger glint in the light.

Retirement - Cassian Andor
Anonymous said:
Either Cassian or Poe x reader ( or maybe both if you have the time idk I don't want to pressure you) with an age gap? and like their really hesitant to start anything because of it but they like each other so much? Thank you, I love this blog so much!
AN: For the sake of keeping proper, the age gap would be like eight years. This also takes place after Scarif and cassian is horribly out of character. sorry
The idea of resting and retirement had never entered Cassian’s mind. The thought alone made him feel old, but when he meets you, he feels young again.
Tumblr media
Love was not something Cassian Andor often thought about. It was far down on his list of concerns, the Rebellion being at the top. He was often too busy to even think about romance, let alone gamble entering a relationship. Completing missions and destroying the Empire were in his greatest affections; he had no room for anything or anyone else.
That all changed after Scarif. Cassian soon had too much time to think about how the Rebellion had taken over his entire life. He was bedridden the in medbay, yelling at doctors and nurses whenever they tried to help him. He didn’t want their help. He wanted his droid counterpart, he wanted to know if Bodhi and Jyn made it out alive. What became of Baze and Chirrut. No one told him anything. The last nurse he asked said she couldn’t tell him, she was told not to. Cassian, had he not been plugged to machines, would’ve attacked in anger. That nurse left his charge after the incident, but his main doctor remained.
“You’ll be under the care of a new nurse,” Doctor Balif said, trying to met Cassian’s eye. The captain had his head turned against the pillow, his gaze on the door. He wanted to leave. “She is young, Andor, take it easy on her. The more care you allow her to give the quicker you’ll be up and moving again.”
At that, Cassian locked eyes with Doctor Balif; his brown eyes cold and hard.
“Are they alive?” He asked, his voice hoarse with disuse. He rarely spoke unless he was yelling at medical droids and nurses.
“Captain, your allies conditions are to be kept quiet. Even you can not know. The Empire has-”
“The Empire has been weakened, by my allies.” Cassian interrupted, his anger very apparent in his tone. “I don’t need a new nurse, I need to find them and go now.”
“Captain Andor, you’ve done enough for the Rebellion,” Doctor Balif shouted, his voice rising. “Now is the time to consider your life outside, after the Rebellion. Like you have said, the Empire is weakened and it won’t last much longer. What will you do after it is gone? What about retirement?” The doctor’s questions struck a cord in Cassian, as he was stunned silent. Balif let out a sigh and rubbed his tired looking face.
“You’ve been at this for too long, Cassian,” Balif said quietly, “it is just something to consider. You deserve rest, I tell you that as your friend, not your doctor.” With that, Doctor Balif left Cassian’s room. The war-hardened man felt his heart ache.
Balif was right, but retirement made him feel...old. Cassian had lost track of how many years he had spent with the Rebellion, fighting for it without mercy. It felt that, finally, Cassian Andor had, had enough of the killing. While he waited to meet his new nurse, he fell asleep; getting the rest he wholeheartedly deserved.
“Captain Andor?” Cassian’s eyes opened slightly at the soft voice. It almost reminded him of Jyn’s, but when he opened his eyes, it wasn’t his ally. The new nurse. “Sorry to wake you. Doctor Balif told me that I have to switch out your IV. It will only take a moment.”
“Al-alright,” Cassian said groggily, “you’re the new nurse?” As he sat up in his bed, you had walked over to grab the new bag of fluid. He couldn’t help but notice how young she looked with her soft features and soft smile. She was definitely younger than himself.
“I am,” she said with a smile. It was a bright, sweet smile; one that Cassian wished he had the pleasure of seeing before being sentenced to the medbay. She quickly exchanged the fluid, Cassian’s eyes never leaving her focused expression.
“What is your name?” He asked quietly. Her eyes moved up, her gaze locking with his own. For a moment, Cassian felt that his breath was caught in his throat. Her doe eyes were a pleasant contrast from the brutality he had known.
“Y/N,” she said softly, another soft smile on her pink lips. Cassian nodded, looking away, almost bashfully, from her gaze. “I-I hope you’ll find my care adequate,” she said awkwardly, bringing a gruff chuckle out of Cassian.
“You’ve heard about my past nurses haven’t you?” He looked up at Y/N, a slightly embarrassed smile on his thin lips.
“I have,” she said, “I was warned about. But you don’t seem like the cranky old man they described.” She shot him a playful smile and Cassian felt almost laughed again.
“I don’t know about that,” Cassian said, feeling his age. Y/N smiled and walked back over to his bedside. “Retirement is a choice I could make for myself now. Doesn’t that make me old?” Y/N smiled and shook her head, her hair shimmering with the movement.
“It just means you are worthy of rest and, from what I’ve heard, are you definitely worthy. And brave.” Cassian smiled, a true smile, as the words left her mouth. “I’ll see you tomorrow, Captain Andor,” she said as she turned to leave his room.
“Y/N,” Cassian said, bringing her attention back to him for a moment, “you can call me Cassian.” She smiled a toothy grin and nodded as she went through the door. Cassian leaned back on his bed, feeling a little anger in his heart release into nothingness.
A few weeks passed and Cassian found himself with a growing affection for Y/N. She was young and didn’t treat him as the other nurses had. She treated him like a human being, not simply just a patient. Flirts were thrown about meaninglessly between the two, until it wasn’t meaningless.
A tension, romantic in nature, started to form between them. Cassian felt it just as much as Y/N did. The girl tried her best to remain professional, but the way he would look at her would send shivers through her. Flirting turned into deep conversations, that would sometimes last late into the night. Doctor Balif would check in, noting his change in overall mood.
“I don’t know what you’re doing, Y/N, but keep it up. Cassian will be out of here soon if his vitals remain this stable.” Y/N nodded, smiling softly. “He also seems to hold you in a high regard,” he pointed out, making the girl blush.
As the days went on, Cassian’s feelings only grew; but their age gap became more apparent as well. He would tell Y/N war stories that she had learned about in school a few years ago. Cassian grew hesitant to tell her of his feelings. The eight years between them and the fear in his chest started to take it’s toll. Until one night, where Cassian asks about his friend again.
“They always claimed they couldn’t tell me if they were alive,” Cassian said sadly. “I haven’t heard from them since.”
“Cassian,” Y/n said, placing her hand on his. He looked up and met her eyes, seeing a seriousness in them that wasn’t characteristically Y/N. “They’re alive.”
Cassian felt tears well up in his eyes, his hand moving to grasp Y/N’s. He brought it to his lips and pressed a soft kiss against the skin on top of her slender hand.
“Thank you,” he whispered, “but won’t you get in-” Y/N shook her head, silencing him.
“I am suppose to help my patients, even if that means withholding information from them. But you, Cassian, are more than my patient. I,” she paused, “I care for you.”
Cassian swallowed hard, “Y/N, I do to, but it’s not…I’m here for Force knows how much longer and you’re young.”
“Your vitals are more stable,” she said softly, “your stay in the medbay won’t be forever. And the age…” she trailed off. “You have been fighting for a long time, Cassian,” she said after a moment of thought, “you don’t have to fight this.”
“I won’t,” Cassian said softly, holding her gaze, “I’m done fighting.”
“I hope you don’t mind the retirement celebration,” Doctor Balif said as he led Cassian down the hall. He was finally free from the medbay, open to go and do whatever he pleased. Balif guided him into a room where, much to Cassian’s surprise, was full of people.
Jyn, Bodhi, and the rest of the Rogue One crew were there; looking about as worse for wear as he did. So was Y/N. The young nurse rushed towards him, wrapping her arms around him tightly.
“Hello mi amor,” Cassian said into her hair. When Y/N pulled back, Cassian leaned down to press a soft kiss to her lips. Baze let out a happy shout and Jyn smiled at her friend. Y/N pulled back and pecked his cheek.
“C’mon, your friends have missed you,” she grabbed his hand and led Cassian over to his crew. Bodhi gave him a small hug, as did Baze and Jyn. Chirrut gave him a nod.
“You’ve freed yourself from your prison, Captain. I commend you.” Cassian nodded at the blind man, looking over at Y/N. She was smiling, laughing at something Baze had done to make Bodhi blush. Jyn Erso even dared to smile too. Maybe retirement wouldn’t be too bad after all.

Requests are OPEN
[x] - requested by anonymous
Pairing: Cassian Andor x Reader
Word Count: 3,925
Warnings: Some Fluff, Minor Violence
A/N: I went way overboard with this request, and now I love it so much. It wasn’t until recently that I really felt a spark of creativity for this. It wasn’t exactly what was expected because I tied in a future imagine into this because it seemed to fit really well. Enjoy!
*Cassian’s POV*
Making my way through Jedha City was daunting enough what with the Imperial troops patrolling every inch of the place and terrorizing the locals. The constant fear of perhaps needing to produce identification put me on edge as well as the fear that I would be recognized as a rebel and outed. Tensions were high between Saw Gerrera’s rebels, stormtroopers, and the rest of the occupants of the city. After countless times being there, I learned that it was best to just keep your head down, wear basic attire that helped you blend in, and not say a word to anyone unless you knew exactly who that person was. I had contacts in many of the cities on different planets, normally more than one. In Jedha City, I was left with only one contact. If anything happened to him, I’d be pretty much on my own. I was on a mission to locate Saw Gerrera or at least find someone who would tell me where he was. It was a long shot since his rebels were pretty tight lipped, but word had to get around at some point. There had to be some rumors, and rumors were better than nothing. I anticipated the reluctance of others to point me in the right direction.
However, I never anticipated running into...her. Striking (e/c) eyes like nothing I had ever seen before, and I had seen my fair share of women. Saying she was beautiful would have been an understatement. Clad in blue robes, she stood out in the crowd, but it was as if she wasn’t afraid to, like she wasn’t in a hostile area. If you weren’t an Imperial, you were their enemy, and they didn’t care who they took prisoner or who they killed. My eyes flickered over every inch of her body as I drank in the brilliance. Grey pants were clinging to her legs only to be cut off just below the knee by a pair of black boots. She was fascinating and mysterious, an incredible creature. She stood next to a larger man with his own set of armor and a blaster on his other side. He was large enough to break her in two if he wanted, but something strange told me that he wouldn’t. When I saw the man they hovered around, I knew that they all must’ve been the Guardians of the Whills. She seemed a lot less threatening than the blind man and the soldier, but I knew better than to underestimate anyone. A set of eyes like hers was just as dangerous as the blaster in the soldier's hands.
Just as her eyes caught mine, I stopped moving, and it felt as if my breath caught in my throat. Her eyes had been scanning the crowds of people roaming the streets of the city, and her gaze always made its way back to the soldier or the blind man who was calling out, “may the force of others be with you,” like it was his mantra. She just stood behind him like a silent guardian along with the soldier. When her eyes met my brown ones, though, her lips curled up into a slight smile, which only pulled me in even further. I couldn’t help myself, and I just continued staring at her, completely and utterly captivated by the young woman. Even in my wildest dreams or in the depth of my imagination, I had never thought there could be someone who could pique my interest quite like she had. I wasn’t interested in taking time out of my life to swoon over women, and I certainly didn’t go out looking for them. Until that moment, I couldn’t care less about other people, but this stranger sparked a curiosity within me that I was sure would never leave. Even when she looked away, breaking eye contact with me, I was left starstruck by her. I knew that I couldn’t approach her because I didn’t know who she was, but I certainly wanted to. Instead, I walked through the streets in a daze, unable to shake the sight of her from my mind. It was like I had committed her to memory, but something told me that I wouldn’t need it.
*Reader’s POV*
The stranger who had caught my gaze was none other than the famed Captain Cassian Andor, a fellow member of the Rebellion. I had joined up long ago, wanting to find a place in the galaxy that seemed to have forsaken me time and time again. Instead of sitting around feeling sorry for myself, I took control of my life and did something about it. I heard plenty of stories about the captain, but I never had the pleasure of working with him. I wish I would’ve gotten word that they were sending more rebels into the city, but I knew that I had a specific task to complete, and so did he. It was my job to find Saw Gerrera, and I had been undercover for far too long to just let that job go. Whatever his mission was, I knew he would complete it because he was famous for following orders. When I recognized him, though, I was terrified that he recognized me as well, that he would come over and blow my cover which I had built up over weeks and weeks. The way he looked at me, though, was almost as if he didn’t recognize me at all. I had seen him in passing on Yavin 4, and I heard plenty of stories about him. He paid attention to no one if it didn’t have to do with his mission, so I wasn’t surprised that he didn’t recognize me-it wasn’t like we had ever formally met each other.
Being undercover was a difficult task, and it wasn’t for the obvious reasons. I didn’t find it difficult to formulate a different backstory to fit the new “character” I was portraying, and I didn’t find it difficult to fall right into a life that wasn’t my own. I was playing a role, and that was it. The only problem with being undercover for so long was the relationships. Usually, I was able to distance myself from the mission enough to keep from actually getting close to people, but the men I was with, the men who took me in under their wing and saved my ass over and over again-they were the real deal. I couldn’t distance myself enough to not truly care about them. Chirrut Imwe, a blind warrior, was a spiritual guide, and I could sense his unity with the force. Baze Malbus was the silent protector and just like an older brother to me. He cracked jokes with Chirrut every once in a while, and he teased him for his faith in the force, but they cared about each other like they were their last links to family. In all my time in the rebellion, I never found it difficult to separate myself from my mission, but these two men made it the hardest for me. They made me want to stay in the war zone that was Jedha city just so that I didn’t have to leave them.
Suddenly, an explosion on the other side of the city pulled me from my own thoughts. Saw’s rebels were attacking again. If I could just get my hands on one of them, I knew they would have no choice but to tell me where Saw was. My persuasion skills were top of the line, so they wouldn’t be walking away without giving me an answer. As soon as that first explosion hit, I took off toward it, ripping my arm from the iron grip of Baze’s hand when he saw me start to leave. He didn’t like seeing me fight, so he tried to keep me as close to him as possible at all times. What he didn’t know is that I was trained and built for fighting, that I thrived when given the opportunity. As I ran through the streets, I listened to my own blood pumping in order to steel myself for what was about to come. However, it wouldn’t matter as right before I could reach the heat of the fight, I was pulled into one of the small alleyways by a fellow rebel, Tow. Before I could ask him what he was doing, he began explaining, “Senator Organa ordered for you to return to Yavin 4. He organized a group to come into the city to pick up where you left off, but he needs you back at the base. It sounded urgent”
I furrowed my eyebrows, “I can help out there”
He shook his head, “I can’t let you go out there and fight. Our guys will have it under control, and we’ll capture one of Saw’s and do whatever is necessary to get him to talk. You need to get back to Yavin 4 before Senator Organa comes to collect you himself” he explained with a completely stone face, almost like the change didn’t faze him whatsoever. I clenched my jaw, irritated that I wouldn’t be able to see the mission to completion. However, a piece of me felt lucky that I would at least get to sleep in my bed for the first time in a long time. I knew that if Bail came all the way to Jedha just to take me back to the base, I would be in for the lecture of a lifetime. He wouldn’t scream and yell at me, but it was far worse to know that I disappointed him. I nodded my head as a sign that I had heard and accepted my new orders. Tow continued, “there’s a U-Wing waiting for you just outside the city. You’re capable of flying it back to Yavin 4 on your own”
“I just need to get my bag, and I’ll be on my way” I said, turning around and walking in the opposite direction of the fighting. It always died down within minutes with the stormtroopers on the ground succumbing or the rebels pulling back and going into hiding. They attacked with so much force and so quickly that no one could ever expect them or overcome them. I had the thirst for fighting, but I knew that it wasn’t my turn. Tow had run off behind me to fight as I made my way back to Baze and Chirrut. They were still in the same place as before, almost like the fighting was nothing concerning. Of course, they had seen it every day for quite some time, and they didn’t have the same reason for fighting as I did. Saying goodbye was the hardest part because I knew the chances of me seeing them again were slim and almost non-existent. While Baze didn’t always show his softer side, I saw it because I looked for it. Wanting to avoid all sadness, I just scooped up my bag, hung it over my shoulder, and proceeded to walk away. With every step, my heart sank more and more because I knew that they knew I wasn’t planning on coming back. This wasn’t just me needing some time alone, and they could sense that.
“I knew it would happen today” Chirrut’s voice stopped me dead in my tracks. I closed my eyes, trying to stop the proof of my sadness from streaming down my cheeks. I couldn’t bring myself to turn around and face him, so I just continued to face my back toward him, but I wouldn’t move as he continued, “you don’t think I knew, but I did. You could hide from everyone else, but you cannot hide from me. I may be blind, but I can see right through you”
When I finally found the strength to turn around, I saw that Baze stood almost right behind me. In my sorrow, I hadn’t felt his presence so close to me. He didn’t speak a single word but pulled my body into his strong arms, encasing me almost completely. He was a man of few words, but I didn’t need to hear him tell me how much he cared for me because the embrace was enough to know that I was loved. Once Baze pulled away from me, we locked eyes for a short moment, and he gave a slight nod, “you will do so many great things, little one” he said
Before I could respond, Chirrut reached out and took my hand. His eyes were cast away from me, but I knew he was giving me his complete and unparalleled attention. His thumb ghosted across my knuckles, and I knew he was taking this last time to commit my hands to memory. He had been so fascinated by them the first time we met, and he knew-just as I did-that this would be the last time we would see each other. He smiled, “I can sense it. I could sense it from the very beginning. The force is strong in you, (Y/N)”
My throat tightened at his declaration. I didn’t know if he could see something or if he just meant it as a compliment. Either way, it was dangerous to speak of the force in the midst of so many skeptics. I gave his hand a gentle squeeze, “thank you, Chirrut, but...like Baze always says, there are no Jedi anymore” I lied like I was trying to convince not only him but also myself of it. Even after departing and heading off to look for the U-Wing, I continued to repeat those words over and over again, wondering if he could possibly sense that as well. There are no Jedi anymore. There are no Jedi anymore. There are no Jedi anymore. When I finally made it outside of the city, I caught sight of my ship as well as a lone stormtrooper surveying it. I knew that the only reason he was taking note of it was because it was out of place. Trying to get to it and take off wouldn’t be as easy as I had anticipated previously, but I always had a few tricks up my sleeve. Without a second thought I walked right over to the U-Wing, and, as expected, I caught the attention of the lone stormtrooper right away. Since I startled him, he started to aim his blaster at me. Before he could, I held out a hand, stopping him from making any further movements and freezing him in place. My whole body quaked as I realized what I had done.
There are no Jedi anymore. There are no Jedi anymore. Once I lowered my hand, he aimed the blaster at me, shaking off what had just happened. I knew that he must’ve chalked it up to just coincidence, but it terrified me so much that I actually began trembling. He took a step closer to me, “let me see your identification” he demanded
I took a deep breath, remembering how this worked the last time. As soon as I collected myself and forced my body to stop shaking, I stared up at him, completely relaxed, “you don’t need to see my identification”
He paused for a long moment, and I wondered if it was just a fluke the last few times it worked. The only person I had confided in about it was Senator Organa, but it was only because I knew I could trust him more than anyone else. When I told him about the incidents, he wore an expression of fear-one I had never seen on him before. He was always the person I could fall back on for anything, and I was always more than just a rebel to him. He took me under his wing and showed me the beauty in the galaxy and taught me compassion. I didn’t always listen to his advice right away, but I always took it to heart. Right when I was about to knock the stormtrooper out in order to protect myself and my identity, he spoke, “I don’t need to see your identification”
My heart thudded against my ribs as excitement overcame me. At the same time, I continued my mantra. There are no Jedi anymore. There are no Jedi anymore. With the sudden boost in confidence, I continued staring up at the stormtrooper, “you will go back to the city and forget all of this” I stated
He straightened his shoulders and lowered his blaster, “I will go back to the city and forget all of this” he repeated before turning on his heel and walking away.
As soon as I was sure he wouldn’t turn back, I scrambled into the U-Wing, wondering how I could’ve possibly achieved such a thing. As I sat in the pilot’s chair, my heart continued to race, beating against my ribs so hard that it was physically painful. I shook my head to myself, wishing that I could just forget what just happened. I closed my eyes as the ship roared to life, trying to keep myself calm, “there are no Jedi anymore. There are no Jedi anymore”
When I returned to the base, I began making my way to the war room, hoping to have a quick meeting with Senator Organa so that I could go about my business and meditate to clear my mind. It was one of the things he had taught me to do once I told him about my incidents. Other than that, he remained tight-lipped about it and didn’t want to speak about any of it at length for “safety reasons” as he called them. I wanted to go about my day without any further conflict, but when I saw those eyes again, I knew that it was inevitable. I knew he was trouble as soon as we locked eyes in the city, but I hadn’t expected him to return to the base almost immediately after me. He was only moments behind me, but I alo took my time getting back to Yavin 4 for my own reasons. I wanted to calm my nerves before having my conversation with Bail, knowing that he could always sense when something wasn’t quite right. I always saw him as the father I never had the privilege of having even though I knew he had a daughter already.
I tried to avoid Captain Andor to my best ability, but I couldn’t help it when his eyes met mine just like they had in the city. I thought he was a magnificent creature with wild, dark eyes and a ferocity in his expression. The sight of him made my stomach twist into a knot, especially when he caught my gaze in that moment. The sudden anger that overcame him was enough to excite me. His lips were in a tight line, and he narrowed his eyes at me as he began closing the space between us. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to hide from him after he recognized me, but I still wished that I could just curl up into a ball and evaporate. When he finally reached me, his hand wrapped around my throat, and he shoved me against the wall, “who are you?” he growled, glaring at me like I was his enemy. Thankfully, the wall kept me standing straight because my knees could’ve buckled beneath me at the mere sound of his voice. I knew how it must’ve looked. We never met each other before, and the last time he saw me was in a war zone where you couldn’t possibly know who was an enemy and who was a friend, “you’re following me, and I want to know why”
I clenched my jaw, knowing that I couldn’t…”persuade” him like I did the stormtrooper on Jedha. I found that individuals with stronger minds were far more resistant to my persuasion, and Captain Andor would be one of them. My eyes locked with his, and I took a short breath due to the grip he had on my throat, “remove your hands, or I will remove them for you” I ordered, not wanting to take action if I didn’t have to. He cocked an eyebrow in clear amusement, but he still listened. I guessed that it was because he was stunned by my straightforward nature. I could be pretty unpredictable. When he dropped his hand from my throat, I stepped away from the wall and closer to him, “I was on a mission, and I was working undercover until you got there. Then, I was called back here so that your little group of rebels could finish what I started” I spat out like it was a bad taste in my mouth. I was bitter about having to leave Jedha, but I had to trust that Senator Organa had a good reason for it, “now, Captain Andor, if you don’t mind…” I trailed off, heading toward the hallway I had been making my way to before I was so rudely interrupted.
He was still in a stunned silence, but I didn’t know why. I gave him my answer, and I was leaving before he could launch a full interrogation. From behind me, I heard his voice call out to me one last time, “what’s your name?”
My lips pulled up into a smirk, and I could sense that he was just as enthralled by me as I was of him. The playful nature that I had adopted so long ago came out again, “none of your business, Captain” I called back to him before continuing on my way to the war room.
It was completely empty except for Bail. He stood in front of the round table. Seeing him so...tired was new. It had been 5 weeks since I last saw him, and I could tell that something was weighing on his mind. As soon as I walked into the room, he stepped away from the table and straightened his shoulders as a sign of respect for me. For weeks, I had been afraid for my own life, constantly having to look over my shoulder, and I was finally back home. Without second thought, I ran over to him and threw my arms around his shoulders, pulling my body close to his. He never pushed boundaries because that was my job. He maintained a professional distance when we were in the midst of anyone else, but he always treated me like I was one of his own. His arms finally wrapped around me in a warm embrace as I buried my face into his chest, “I’m so glad you’re safe” he murmured, “and I’m so glad you’re home”
I could sense the bittersweet sound of his voice, and I knew there was an addendum that I wouldn’t like. When I pulled away from him, I took a deep breath. Just from the way he looked at me, I could tell that he knew something wasn’t quite right, “it happened again” I murmured, referencing my unique persuasion technique. He would know.
He sighed, “that’s why I put in a request to pull you from Jedha” he confessed, “during the time you were gone, I reached out to an old friend, someone who could teach you better than I ever could. He’s on Tatooine, and he can help you get a hold of these changes”
I cocked my head to the side, furrowing my eyebrows, “who is he?”
“His name is Ben”

I am so excited to announce that I will be doing a collab with one of my great friends, @can-t-figure-it-out! What started out as a sleepy Instagram imagine turned into a full fledged project. Unsung Heroes is both a story and a comic about the reader, an inhabitant of the planet Jedha, who has lived the life of a thief. However, not by choice but rather for survival. Your means of living becomes harder when the Empire begins their unwanted occupation of a rather peaceful place of trade. Though you may think your life may be over, the Force has something else in mind.
This is a Baze Malbus, Chirrut Imwe, and reader collaborative project that takes place only a few days before Rogue One. And, as our denial deepens, this story also diverges from canon a bit. But don’t you worry! You may even see some of your other favorite Rogue One characters 👀.
Read Dori’s comic here.

For anon...enjoy!
“You’re going to do nothing?” you shouted at Mon Mothma. She lowered her gaze. “To go after their plans on a heavily guarded base is suicide. We can’t ask anyone to do that.” “There has to be some way to get those plans! People died and were tortured to even get the information to tell us there was a weakness!”
The room fell silent. The woman in white looked you straight in the eyes.
“That was their choice to make. They knew the risks to bring that to us.” You narrowed your eyes. “Yeah. One of them apparently being that we sit on it like apathetic yokels.”
Before anybody could retort, you left the room. You were fuming with annoyance and irritation. You already knew how much Jyn and Cassian were going to dislike hearing the news. You just had beaten the pair to the briefing room. In fact, you passed them while muttering to yourself. The pair knit their brows before looking toward Baze, Bodhi, K2, and Chirrut. Baze whispered something to Chirrut right before you strolled by. However, you didn’t notice due to your growing resentment.
You also failed to realize that a certain someone was following you. Eventually, you stopped just at the edge of the forest. With a despondent sigh, you sat on the ground.
“Something is upsetting you,” a familiar voice stated.
You jumped slightly before realizing it was Chirrut. You smirked before it fell into a frown.
“The decision the council made,” you murmured, “They don’t want to do anything. Just sit on the information.” The blind man sat next to you, holding his staff. “That is troubling.” You nodded. “I just don’t get it. People are sacrificing themselves everyday, and suddenly this mission is too high stakes?” Chirrut nodded. “I see you’re quite willing.” “I am. I can’t be the only one, can I?” you asked, a little hopelessly.
You glanced up as Chirrut gripped your hand. He smiled while lowering his gaze as he gave it a squeeze. Smiling softly, you squeezed back.
“No. You’re not the only one.”

Rogue One Preference: You are Super Short
Requested by: Anonymous Baze: King of giving you piggy back rides and picking you up all the time. You probably could just be carried everywhere from now on. He finds your height adorable and he loves to keep you super close to him. He would always have you on his lap. Bodhi: He always greets you with forehead kisses and kisses the top of your head at random times. Definitely uses the word adorable to describe you more than anything. He loves when you have to reach up to grab his face to get a kiss. Cassian: Cassian would love it. You're so small and he feels like he can easily protect you. He has a lot of anxiety about his loved ones getting hurt but when he snuggles with you and sleeps beside you he can easily wrap himself around you and it's just instant bliss for him. Chirrut: Chirrut makes jokes, uses you as an arm rest/head rest, etc. He always has a really goofy smile on his face when he's about to do this so usually when he comes close to lean on you, you just wrap your arms around his waist and hug him tight. He gives a lot of forehead kisses Jyn: Jyn isn't that much taller herself, so she understands. But those few inches she does have on you make a big difference. She lovingly teases you about how the weather is down there and asks if you need a boost when trying to reach something. She loves your height though because she has to look up at most others too. ------------------ Request anything you'd like to see! My ask box is open!

You and Chirrut sat by the lake quietly. Chirrut was meditating, and you were quietly reading a book while listening to the soothing sounds of water running over the rocks. You momentarily looked up from your book to look at Chirrut, who seemed at peace.
“Thank you for taking me here, Chirrut.” you spoke quietly, as if not wanting to disturb the nature around you. Chirrut didn’t open his eyes, but smiled. “This place is lovely.”
“I knew you would love it here.” Chirrut responded. You looked around you. The fields were filled with lush greenery, and were dotted with colorful flowers. The sky was a beautiful azure, with clouds drifting across. You closed your eyes and took a deep breath.
“It’s so beautiful.” you sighed, and Chirrut finally opened his eyes. He reached out his hands to you, and you closed your book and held his hands. He led you onto the rock he was sitting on, and the two of you sat together hand in hand.
Chirrut was always talking about the Force. You didn’t know what to think of it, but sitting here in this serene place, you felt it. The energy surging around you and within. You closed your eyes and tried to focus on it, and realized the strongest energy you were feeling was from your hands, which were interlinked with Chirrut’s.
“You feel the Force, don’t you?” he spoke, and you nodded. He raised up your hands. “And it’s strongest when we’re connected.”
“What does it mean?” you asked, and Chirrut simply gave you a knowing smile. You thought about it for a moment, and smiled when you came to the answer.
“You know,” you whispered “I never believed in soulmates until I met you.”
“Well, I always believed in soulmates. And I knew from day one that you were mine.” Chirrut responded, and the two of you smiled as each other as he squeezed your hand.

I just really need to share with everyone that I’ve been enjoying an absolutely extraordinary Rogue One fic titled The Crystal’s Song. The story follows Baze and Chirrut a decade or two before the events of the film, detailing how they meet, become mentor and acolyte to each other, and slowly but surely fall in love. The Crystal’s Song has everything I could ask for in a story: world building, stirring supporting characters, organic and earnest conversation and a breathtaking writing style. You want pining? You want character development? You want to absolutely fall in love with how charming and clever Chirrut is and how smitten and zealous Baze can be? You got it. This fic isn’t even halfway through and it’s already become one of the best I’ve ever read- it’s made me cry, it’s made me smile, and it’s made waiting for the daily updates an insufferable and delightful experience. Please do give it a try!
