It's been four years, but I've finally found the energy and motivation to write again (thanks, kind anons and people commenting on AO3!!). So here's the tenth chapter of The Nakadia Job, a post-Rogue-One AU wherein the crew lived and went on to do Leverage-style cons and heists against the Empire.

say what you will but inserting the line “i burn my life to make a sunrise that i know i’ll never see” in a show where the purpose is to tie in to rogue one, knowing what happens there, is insane. like, it’s purposefully put there to make people (me) lose it. a master lesson in how to deliver a tragedy and instead of trying to help viewers make peace with it (that was already never happening but still) making the deliberate choice to reinforce it and cause it to hurt even more as the years pass.
brilliant bastards.

Thinking about Rouge One (surprise surprise) and losing my mind. Every single character came to terms with their death. You can pinpoint the exact moment each character realizes that they're gonna die. The resolve and peace in their eyes during their final moments. Every single one of them except Cassian. He goes through the same emotional rollercoaster when it comes to his death like the rest of the cast. Cassian closes his eyes, just like Jyn, when he realizes what's gonna happen, but he opens his eyes at the last second. You see this... panic. You see this need to survive. Even at the end, Cassian Andor was fighting.

honestly, rogue one's got all the things you could want in a film:
a female lead who is an actual character and is neither hyper-sexualized, nor reduced to being a romantic object for any of the men around her
found family!!
some of the saddest most pethetic bbygrl poor little meow meow men in the galaxy
a mildly erotic tentacle scene
mads mikkelson?
an incredibly sarcastic but still painfully genuine robot
a sassy man in an even sassier cape
and an extremely tragic but still very hopeful ending

Oh my fucking God
Chirrut does not prove that a non force sensitive can be trained as a Jedi
1. He's not a Jedi, he's a guardian of the whills
2. He still cannot use the Force, he doesn't use it in the movie, Chirrut trusts in the Force believes that it will guide him, but he cannot consciously feel or use it
The whole point of Chirrut's character is about faith
He is the believer to Baze's jaded doubter
Chirrut puts his faith in the Force, that it will lead him to his destiny and the forces of good to victory, and in turn his faith inspires Baze to regain his
And we never know with certainty that Chirrut was guided by the Force
But that's the point of faith, we don't know, we can't know, it's a matter of belief
Maybe the Force did help him, maybe he did it all by himself, or maybe because the Force exists in everything, Chirrut's action was the Force intervening
