Request by @princessmermaid1289 : My idea was maybe her and Jack are hanging out with friends like a pool day and she’s feeling insecure but Jack doesn’t notice , or shopping, or maybe she starts a gym routine (like I’m working out 6 days a week with a strict diet) and he gets worried about her
----
TW: for talks about over exercising and insecurities around body.
Jack was woken by your alarm blaring, he felt you move around as you quickly shut the alarm off and got out of bed. He opened one eye and quickly checked the time on his phone, 6am. He tried to rack his brain as to what plans you had that day that would warrant you needing to be up at such an unusal time on a Saturday but before he could think too much, sleep overtook him and he fell asleep.
You quickly threw on your gym clothes you'd laid out the night before and headed down to the home gym, you began following a routine you'd found online.
Once you were done working out, you heading into the kitchen and began making yourself breakfast, something healthy. You were just about done eating when Jack appeared in the doorway, his eyes met yours as you stood up, plate in hand.
'Morning' you smiled as you loaded the dishwasher.
'You got up at 6am to make breakfast?' he stood in his boxers, one hand rubbing at his bare chest and the other holding his phone.
'No, I got up at 6am to work out' you smiled, leaning on the kitchen countertop 'can I make you something to eat?' you smiled at him
'I'm good, why'd you get up so early? We could of done it together y'know'
'Yeah I know but I'm gunna do another workout later so we can do that one together' you smiled as you turned to make yourself a coffee.
Jack's eyebrows furrowed together, he didn't want to comment on the fact you were going to be doing 2 workouts in one day, he just let it go. But he knew there was something off, you weren't the type to excessively excercise.
-
It had been about a week, you'd been working out a lot and eating healthier, but Jack was beginning to get really worried about you. He'd noticed how the early mornings and sometimes multiple workouts a day were making you tired and how most of the food in the kitchen was vegetables and hardly any of the normal stuff you'd buy.
Finishing up in the studio, Jack headed home and entered the house. He could hear music playing from the kitchen and found you cooking, your back to him as you sang along to the music. Vegetables sat on a chopping board beside you and you were wearing workout clothing, leading him to assume you'd not long finished a workout. He set his keys down on the counter, the jingle going unnoticed by you as the music was so loud.
You continued singing, moving your hips to the music when you suddenly felt light headed, your body swayed to one side before you began falling to the floor, however the harsh landing you braced for never came and instead you landed in Jack's arms.
'Y/N are you okay?!' Jack helped you stand straight and took your weight as you regained yourself.
'Y-Yeah I'm f-fine'
'You're not fine. You've been working out way too much and you're not eating enough!' he snapped, his concern for you coming across as anger as his voice was raised, causing tears to well inyour eyes.
'I'm fine Jack!; your voice was firm as you turned but your legs still felt jelly-like and so you fell back against Jack.
'You're not fine and I need to know what's going on so i can help you' he explained, moving so you could sit at the dinner table.
'What's with your working out a lot more, and the healthy eating? Did I say something to make you feel like this is how you should be?' Jack was concerned a passing comment that he didn't even remember making had made you feel like you needed to change for him.
'No! Baby it's nothing you said. Last week when we were at the beach-house, everyone was wearing their bikinis and didn't seem to care about their bodies and I just got a little insecure and felt like I needed to change' your voice shook at the end, a tear falling from your eye.
'Hey, you don't ever need to change. Not for me or for anyone else. You're perfect the way you are baby' he smiled, pressing a kiss to your head as you hugged him.
'I'm sorry if I worried you' you sighed, pressing your cheek against his chest'
'It's fine, just promise me you'll stop doing the most?'
'Promise' you smiled up at him, pressing a kiss to his lips.

cooking with josie saltzman headcanons <3
a/n: hello hello! this is my first fic for josie so i hope i wrote her well enough! and sorry its pretty short :( thank you for the request 💗
warnings: none!
Tumblr media
josie is actually a great cook, and she's really interested in trying new recipes
she likes to try dishes from different parts of the world
cooking is one of josie's favorite things to do with you
like a cute little "stay home" date
it usually starts with josie cooking for you, but she eventually convinces you to help her
she'll probably have you chopping some vegetables for her or something
and she'll be like "i'm gonna regret giving you a sharp object, aren't i?"
josie almost always lets you pick what you want to eat, encouraging you to find a recipe you want to try
she probably has a collection of cookbooks
which you sometimes laugh about bc why doesn't she just look up her recipes online
but at the same time, it's so charming that she uses books
and even more charming when she lends them to you
she has little bookmarks marking the recipes she wants to make
and you would definitely purposefully pick one of those when she asks you to decide
she also would take you along to go to the store for ingredients
and you would get distracted by the sweets or cereal or something
and josie would laugh and be like "why do i even cook when you have the palette of a child"
(but she would buy the cereal for you anyway, of course)
josie loves watching your cooking skills improve with time
seeing you happily doing something she enjoys so much is such a comfort for her
when you can't cook together, you take turns cooking for each other
josie is the type to set the table like you're in a restaurant and surprise you
with like candles and flowers and everything 😭 she's corny but we love her

How would J handle cats?
Hey hi anon!! 🖤✨
I’m allergic to cats so I literally don’t know what to write GOOGLE TO THE RESCUE! 🤣
I hope I didn’t screw this up anon!!!
Joker thought it was absolutely hilarious to troll your ongoing white lie about adopting a cat by buying you a real one!
Breeds of cats to consider would be a shorthair, Ragdoll, Persian, Siberian, Siamese, or even a black cat to be untraditional. But it’s entirely up to you to decide.
Regardless of the breed, Joker will only have the best for his Light and if you don’t pick, he will on your behalf.
Your apartment building only allows cats and smaller pets so Joker went out and purchased an adorable Russian Blue cat with gorgeous green eyes (like his) without your knowledge.
He swears up and down he wanted you to have a companion around while he’s away but the feline seems to like J more than you at first.
You didn’t mind the adorable cat walking around the apartment like it owned the place, you just stroke its coat whenever it jumps in your lap or watched it fondly when it swatted at something peculiar like dust motes or when a leaf falls from your plants in the sunroom.
It’s soft purrs were soothing in the quiet apartment and you didn’t realize you were giving the cat more attention than Joker until he pointed it out.
Only Joker would get jealous over a cat but he demanded your sweet touch and affection with a straight face.
Despite his jealousy, he still thinks this was a good decision. You are coming out of your shell more and he's confident you won't be alone on the long nights he torturing Gotham City.
Tumblr media
Imagine! You come home and walk through the door but notice the lights were out save for a single spotlight highlighting a chair.
Joker turns around, stroking a cat like the true villain he is and has the audacity to quote Austin Powers.
You were too tired for his antics.
“What is this? Are you Dr. Evil now? J, please tell me you didn’t name the cat Mr. Bigglesworth?” You groaned.
The grey cat was seated on Joker’s lap, purring from the rhythmic head scratches J gave it and you had to admit, it was rather cute. Its slate grey coat looked absolutely soft as she nuzzled up to Joker.
He just laughed and gave the kitty a pat on the head, before it leapt off his lap to wander off. It was shy walking past you but you hoped given enough time, she would warm up to you. Joker stood up to greet you properly.
You waited for your kiss and sighed when Joker didn’t disappoint. After the long day you had, you could use some loving from J.
“Errrr I named her after you. Don’t be jealous.”
You tilted her head curiously and Joker laughed to himself. You were so adorable when you did that. He steered you to the kitchen by your shoulders so you could start on dinner.
You'd been dying to try out a new recipe since you saw it online.
"You're my Light... and now you have Twilight." Joker smiled. Sure enough, after hearing her name, you heard her soft meow before she sauntered into the kitchen.
Twilight purred against J's legs and he scooped her up. He tickled her as you watched on in silence. He looked so a peace playing with a cat in the comfort of your home. You smiled to yourself. It was nice to see Joker happy for a change.
You washed your hands and dried them off to get started chopping up the vegetables.
"Hm, I get the inspiration. Her coat is beautiful." You mumbled.
"Not as beautiful as yooooou. I want my girls to get along while I'm noT around. Ya hear that Twilight? Watch over my Light."
Your stomach did a flip hearing Joker refer to you as his girl. You ducked your head to bite your lip.
You heard a responding purr as if Twilight understood exactly what J said but you knew for a fact Russian Blues were highly intelligent. Her wise lime eyes blinked at you. They were so beautiful as they were unnerving; just like Joker's.
Joker stayed in the kitchen playing with Twilight as you cooked and all was well until he started to get ready to go out after dinner.
"Will you be back tonight?" You yawned and walked him to the front door with Twilight right on your heels.
It had only been a few hours but you could feel a connection growing with the feline. Her eyes held so much expression, you found yourself talking to her as if she could respond.
Joker shrugged into his signature purple cloak and checked the pockets. Still heavy; he had everything he needed.
He didn't know how to answer your question though. "Ehhh, dunno Bunny. Got lots of plannns tonight. If ya want, you can wait up for me. I'll come running back if ya do." He pulled you in for a goodbye kiss until Twilight's soft cry made him look down.
"Sorry girl, I only kiss my Bunny."
You rolled your eyes and picked her up as Joker headed out the door. He called for the lift and waited for it to reach the top floor.
"Promise me you won't kill anyone tonight and I might wait up for you." You knew you had Joker when he flinched on his way into the elevator.
"I.... can't... guaranteeeee that.."
You shrugged your shoulder and stroked Twilight's head as the doors slowly closed. "Then you won't get to see my new lingerie set I bought. Have a good night, Joker." You sang.
You heard his tortured groan through the closed elevator's doors and giggled. You glanced down at Twilight. "He'll be back before dawn. Just you wait, girl."

I’m gonna share another very useful approach to life as an adult with ADHD: cooking and nutrition edition.
The American idea that dinner is “meat/protein with a veggie and a side” and that this is somehow an easy thing to prepare is a lie. That’s so much work. Sometimes I like making a meal that requires a lot of effort but that’s not sustainable for my average weeknight dinner.
I would like to instead introduce you to my world of Sauce Based Cooking. It is predicated on the idea that the “one pan meal” is not a category of recipe but rather a decision made by the chef. There are some deviations (some meals require a pasta pot and/or sheet pan) but that’s still way less than a lot of recipes call for. If it requires a blender, simply close the link and step away.
Rules for Sauce Based Cooking Freedom:
Have more spices/flavorful pastes than you know what to do with. Better than Bouillon and miso paste and curry paste and spice mixes etc etc. You are not running an authentic Tex-Mex restaurant from your kitchen just get the taco seasoning packets.
If you eat meat, you should be buying bone-in skin-on chicken thighs. Not chicken breasts. You can braise a chicken thigh for two hours and it will only get tastier and better. Cooking a chicken breast is stressful and requires a level of precision im not prepared to give to a chicken.
Focus on learning to make tasty BASES. You have learned if you make it and it tastes good to you. Nail down a good cream sauce, perfect your 20 minute marinara, learn a coconut curry, figure out the basic components of a marinade. Add some ground ginger to your chicken soup and thank me later. Then cooking is just beating protein and veggies into submission under your sauces and above your grains.
Don’t try and make ~dishes~. I call this “Zelda cooking.” You need something that you enjoy eating and gives you the nutrients you need to function. Prep vegetables and proteins you like and dump them into a sauce you also like. Add some polenta or bread or rice or couscous or any other grain to soak up the sauce and make it filling and satisfying. 9 times out of 10 it’s gonna work. The only decision you need to make is the flavor profile of the sauce.
Buy the precut vegetables. I know. It feels wasteful. So much plastic. But I promise you it’s way more wasteful to throw out half your groceries and order Uber eats 5 days in a row because you never managed to chop an onion. It’s okay. Precut/frozen vegetables and canned ingredients and prepared food items are going to be your lifeline. I can turn a rotisserie chicken and plastic tub of mirepoix (pre chopped onions, celery and carrots) into a delectable soup with just things in my pantry at this very moment.
Same as above but line the pan with foil. Save yourself a dish.
Add at least one vegetable to everything you cook. This might be controversial but you need fiber. And all sorts of other vitamins and minerals that things like kale and carrots and sweet potatoes have. My go to is canned chickpeas. A jar of marinara plus some canned chickpeas and kale is suddenly a hearty and filling topping for pasta that’s gonna satisfy me way more than just the pasta and sauce. And all I had to do was dump a can and a bag into the pot. That’s not a dish that really exists or has a recipe but it’s Sauce Based and I eat it a lot.
Keep some fortified cereal (most cereal is fortified by default) and trail mix on hand. Sometimes I get in a funk and order a lot of takeout or just eat a lot of carbs and not much else and then get woozy because I’m a little dumb and don’t eat a lot of animal products so all my Nutrients are low and that makes cooking harder. Fortified cereal and trail mix together will have most of the stuff you need to get rid of the lightheaded wooziness (iron and b12 and fats and sugar) in a dense little package that’s easy to munch on while cooking.
Finally, I know online recipes and Pinterest are great and wonderful but get proper cookbooks whenever you can. The first reason is that even with AdBlocker online recipes are a minefield and can be distracting and frustrating and overwhelming which are all things you don’t want when knives and hot pans are around. The second is that you will learn so much about cooking from a proper cookbook and the better you are at cooking the easier and faster it goes. ThriftBooks has plenty as will your local library or even older relatives. Ones like “Cook What You Have” by Christopher Kimball and “The New York Times Cooking No-Recipe Recipes” book and the classic “The Art of Simple Food” by Alice Waters are great.

Magical Recipes; how to approach an established recipe as a Kitchen Witch
Tumblr media
Art by forestfolke on Deviant Art I think one of the most confusing things for new, or even experienced, kitchen witches is how to expand their recipe catalogue for their practice. A lot of new kitchen witches think you need to follow a recipe that has been written special for Witchy Cooking. That the regular recipes they find or use just won't have any magical purpose. But that's just not the case.
You don't need to buy special cook books with recipes exclusively for Kitchen Witches. You can take any recipe that already exists and apply it to your wants or needs. To help explain this process, I'm going to take a recipe I found online then reverse engineer it into a Kitchen Witch Recipe.
The Recipe
My Partner often donates blood, so eating foods that keep his Iron up is important to us. But I also want this dish to be emotionally satisfying Vs just eating a Steak, which neither of us find particularly appealing. I thought I'd try a Cottage Pie (also called Shepperd's Pie) because I want to find a new recipe that will help use up ingredients. Don't get me wrong, soups are awesome; but I tend to go a little light on the meat/alternatives. I tend to keep a good supply of ground meat in the freezer, so know I'll have most of the key stuff.
So I'm starting with this recipe since I don't have my own Cottage Pie recipe. Here are the Ingredients: Filling
1 lb lean ground beef
1 lb ground sausage (I use Jimmy Dean pork sausage)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 small yellow onion , chopped
2 ribs celery , chopped
1-2 carrots , chopped (about 1 cup)
3  cloves garlic , minced
1/4  cup  all-purpose flour
2 1/2 cups low-sodium beef broth
2  tablespoons  tomato paste
1  cube beef bouillon
2  tablespoons  Worcestershire sauce
1  teaspoon  fresh thyme , chopped (or ¼ teaspoon dried thyme)
1 teaspoon fresh rosemary , chopped (or ¼ teaspoon dried rosemary)
2  bay leaves
½ cup frozen corn
½ cup frozen peas
Topping
2 1/2 pounds Russet potatoes , Yukon gold or russet potatoes
¼ cup  sour cream
½ cup milk
4  tablespoons butter
salt and pepper , to taste
½ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese , for topping
So let's start with the topping since it has less ingredients to worry about. For those unfamiliar with cottage pie, the base of the pie is mostly meat and Veggies, and then it's topped with some mashed potatoes before baking. It's common to just use leftover mashed potatoes. So, I'll just use my mashed potato and cauli recipe. In short, it's half potato and half cauliflower with roast garlic and seasonings. Both Potatoes and Cauliflower have protective properties. Since this is the protective top layer of the Pie, I thought the symbolism carried itself further. The Cauliflower will also work well together with the Garlic to Banish any negativity from the pie, as well as from those who consume it.
Now let's break down the filling. Starting with the largest Ingredients. Ground Beef and Ground Sausage. Ground meats in general are fantastic for grounding energy. I'll probably sub the ground beef for whatever ground meat I have on hand, so the grounding aspect is what I'll focus on for now. Potatoes are also good for grounding. This is over all is going to be a very down to earth, hearty meal. Next, the vegetables. Onion, Celery, Carrots, Peas, and Corn. Corn is not something I use on the regular, but it's has a good use in Kitchen Magic as a power multiplier. Similar to Rice. Carrots have heath and energy properties, something I want in a dish for improving Iron Levels. Though I never particularly enjoyed peas, I'll use them for their health and abundance benefit. Green Peas are also high in Iron. Celery is great ingredient to add to a dish to add lasting happiness and satisfaction. Which I defiantly want so when the dish is consumed, you don't feel disappointed. Onion will add onto the Protection and Health. But Onion also has good cleansing properties, so I have the habit of adding it to my pan first to cleanse my cooking station. I'll probably cook some or all of the onion with the meat. Now the Seasonings. Not everything used in your cooking needs to have a magical purpose. It can just be there to enhance the taste of your food. I use Worcestershire sauce often in my cooking with no thought to it's magical abilities. I use it all the time when I want to add some extra umami or savory flavour. But there are some things we can add to help enhance the magic. Thyme, Rosemary, and Bay. All three of these herbs are good for health and healing. I can feed this to my SO before a donation to make sure his Iron is up. Then I can feed it to them after when their body is recuperating. Though I may forgo the Bay leaf. I tend to worry I'll leave it in my food when it's not supposed to be eaten XD But that said, I think I'll add a few of my own. Marjoram seems like it will go well in this, which will add to the Happiness and Comfort of my meal. I wanna add some Basil and Cayenne to this. The Basil I'm hoping will help stop long term fatigue, so my SO's mind is not affected by the donation. Cayenne for a blast of extra energy. I'll also add some extra Garlic and Parsley. I'll also make a few other personal tweaks like swapping the Flour for Cornstarch. I prefer using corn starch in my sauces, and I already have corn as an ingredient anyway, so it should mesh together better on their property levels. Cooking/Assembling Now that I have the magical properties of all my ingredients established, I simply need to assemble them according to the recipe directions. The only difference is, when I add something to the dish, I know what I'm adding not only on a Mundane level, but also the magic properties of the food. I'm adding ground meat to ground my dish and the people consuming it. I add Celery to help the food be emotionally satisfying. I'll add peas to enhance health and healing. Ect.
Also note, you don't need to do as big of a dissection every time you want to cook a recipe as a Kitchen Witch. If you come across an ingredient or two you are familiar with the magic properties for (Or the ingredient just has a spiritual meaning to you personally) You can add it to your meal with that meaning in mind. Like adding a little honey to your tea to sweeten and brighten your day. Also note, most ingredients have multiple magical uses. Just as they have multiple culinary uses. You can add honey to tea for happiness, or may may choose to add it help heal and get over a cold you have. Or you can add it for both reasons! Or neither reason; maybe you just want some honey. You are the Castor, the Decider, the Kitchen Witch!
Eat well and be well 💜💜💜

The Real Cost Of Convenience
The other day I went through my weekly flyers, did some online snooping, and made a list of all my local deals that would help feed my family healthy fresh foods on the limited budget we have. We've been trying to feed our family of 3 whole foods and proteins for less than $100 a week. What started as a simple hunt for sales to stock up, ended up turning into a huge eye-opening lesson on convenience and our health. Please let our family's shopping trip and findings not only inspire you to eat healthier at a lower cost, but also open your eyes on the real cost of convenience on our health and wallets.
To summarize my findings, it turns out that we could buy over TWO TIMES the amount of vegetables that would feed us for a month (or more) STILL for less than opting for convenient, already-prepped frozen veggie alternatives. I spent $33.61 on fresh veggies to chop up and freeze, and after some research, the cheapest alternatives listed online equaled out to $75.64 for a nearly identical amount of frozen veggies (I accounted for the veggie waste difference). Which means I am cutting my vegetable grocery bill in half! That is absolutely insane. Keep in mind this amount of veggies would feed my family of 3 for a month at the price and amount I've already spent. Which means I could get about 2 months of food for my family for the price of 1 month of convenient, frozen options. This leaves us so much more room to invest in quality grass-fed red meat and pasture-raised poultry, so we can elevate our health and diet without spending more out of pocket. So, if you would like more affordable and healthy options for food in your house, I highly recommend looking for deals on fresh vegetables and stocking up when you are able to, rather than opting for the easy to grab and prepare option off the shelves. Eating healthy does not have to be expensive and is actually really affordable for families. Your health and wallet will thank you.
I plan to do more cost comparison and snooping around to see what else I can uncover and tips that I can give you all to elevate your lives in the future, but for now, here is a breakdown of where I shopped and what I spent, versus the cost of the cheapest convenient, frozen options of similar poundage online (after processing to account for veggie waste):

Colorful Creations: Mastering the Art of Vegetable Paratha Cooking
Parathas are the unhinged part of Indian households. From basic plain parathas to flavorful vegetable parathas, they contain nutrients, flavors, and colors. If your kid refuses to eat veggies, you can add them to your parathas with the necessary spices to make them eat veggies without knowing. Vegetable parathas are best for testing and health and can be included in any meal. In this blog, we will help you master the art of vegetable parathas to amaze your taste buds and health and brighten up your dining table. You can opt for chopped vegetable delivery online in Bangalore to save yourself from chopping troubles.
Tumblr media
The Basics of Vegetable Parathas
The traditional way of making a vegetable paratha consists of whole-wheat flour, however, you can also use millet or chickpea flour for additional nutrients and flavors. You need to prepare a soft dough for a good vegetable paratha.
You can make vegetable paratha with any vegetable you like such as potato, onion, carrots, spinach, peas, and more. You can either create a mixed veg paratha using all these veggies as well for the best taste and texture.
Without proper spices, the parathas are going to taste bland. You can add common spices such as salt, cumin, coriander, turmeric, chili powder, and garam masala. You can create flavors according to your taste buds.
However, vegetable chopping can be the biggest task while making vegetable paratha, so you can opt for fresh-cut vegetable delivery online to ease up your task.
Techniques for Perfect Parathas
To make a perfect paratha, you need to make small dough balls, flatten them in a circle, fill the vegetable filling in the center, carefully seal the edges, and flatten again until it starts spilling.
Heat a griddle or non-stick pan to cook the paratha. You can use ghee or oil on both sides until it looks golden brown. You can use a spatula to press it to ensure even cooking.
Follow a similar process with the other side too until it gets golden brown. You can brush it up with ghee for additional richness.
Adding a Twist
Tumblr media
You can always experiment with the filling of the paratha as it will taste good with everything. You can mix and match different vegetable combos, spices, and herbs to provide different tastes every time.
You can always add cheese and paneer to your paratha for richness and creaminess. Putting paneer in a paratha can also be healthy as it has protein in it.
Though paratha tastes good on its own, however, if you incorporate it with sides like green chutney, mint chutney, yogurt, raita, or pickle, parathas can taste better than ever.
You can always opt for fresh vegetable delivery in Bangalore to save yourself time and trouble.
Tips for Success
A few additional tips that you should follow to make extremely delicious parathas-
Always knead your dough soft and pliable for making soft rotis. You should always cook parathas on medium heat for even cooking, and lastly, keep practicing until you perfect the art of paratha making.
Parathas for Everyday Health!
Parathas are not just a common meal; it is an art where you can experiment with flavors. With the right technique and ingredients, you can cook delicious parathas every day. It does not have to be the same every day as you can experiment with different vegetable fillings to make paratha more colorful and healthy. Incorporating paneer, curd, and other items can add an extra pinch of taste and nutrients, making paratha a complete meal. Order from online cut vegetable delivery in Bangalore to buy fresh veggies for your parathas.

Sen5es Recipe: Carrot And Coriander Soup
What's a better way to warm up in the winter months than with a nice bowl (or in this case jar) of soup?
We all know how convenient it is to buy a pot of soup from the supermarket. It's usually the right quantity for 2 people and it saves time and wastage. But what if you could make your own portion sized pots of soup?
The best way to store your soup, ready for individual portions is in some lovely glass jars. We have a wide range of glass jars in stock. But for this particular recipe we would suggest using our 277ml KilnClip Jar for a one person portion of soup.
These jars are great for storing soup as they have a strong air tight seal and look fabulous in the fridge. The following recipe will create around 5-6 jars. From our online store you can buy a pack of 6 for just £9 plus shipping. That way you will always have an extra jar just in case. And the best thing about these jars is that they are reusable! Perfect for an eco-friendly and decorative packaging solution.

12 techniques to cut costs when shopping at the supermarket
Tumblr media
Want to save money on food purchases while maintaining a healthy diet? To enhance your budget and shopping cart, try these strategies.
1. Make a plan
Make a rigorous shopping list and a plan for the week's healthy meals. People who make a list are three times less likely to overspend than those who don't, according to the Money Advice Service. Try Bosh, Good Housekeeping, or BBC Good Food if you need some inspiration. Planning ahead is essential as we spend more money when we buy food on a daily basis than if we plan and shop once a week, with a minor top-up if needed many business listings.
2. Combine it
To avoid boredom and the desire to order takeout, make sure your meals are varied and, whenever possible, include nutritious and healthy ingredients.
3. Do not waste
Making the most of your freezer may be essential for success. For affordable fruit and veggies, search the frozen section. These items are frequently less expensive than fresh or canned counterparts. In the same way, if you do purchase fresh vegetables, think about freezing part of it. By doing this, waste will be prevented, and certain vitamins and minerals that would otherwise be lost would be preserved business listings.
4. Be modestly smart
Price comparison websites can assist you in purchasing your goods from the cheapest retailer if you are fortunate to have a selection of supermarkets nearby or can shop online and have some time. Always be on the lookout for deals on non-perishable items like chopped tomatoes or laundry detergent.
5. Eat before leaving
It has been established that when you shop when you're hungry, you run the danger of spending up to 64% more on food than you would have if you'd eaten earlier. So, eat something before you leave the house to prevent any impulsive purchases and to stay on course. If you must visit the store when you are hungry, be aware that you will likely be tempted to buy more unhealthy items.
6. Labels are not always accurate
On the shelf, the best-value item isn't always immediately apparent. Always compare product prices by unit. It can be tempting to choose the things that seem to be less expensive when they are available, but you can be falling for a trap. In order to get the most value for your money, it is usually preferable to compare a product's price to the units or measurements specified on the box. An item that appears more expensive may actually be less expensive gram per gram free business listings.
7. Locate vouchers
If you frequently shop at one particular supermarket, don't forget to bring your loyalty card and any gift cards you may have earned. In addition to ideas on lowering the cost of your purchases, MoneySavingExpert.com is a great resource for finding the most recent coupons and discounts. Services like Top Cashback also provide cash back when you shop online with them.
8. Bring your own bags
Reusing shopping bags not only helps the environment, but it's also good for your pocket. Purchasing a few truly durable bags may pay off for you in other ways as well, especially if it enables you to carry groceries home rather than using the car.
9. Plan your journey
Smart consumers are aware of the appearance dates for the yellow price reduction labels. These signify products that are either going to expire or have been damaged just a little bit too much to sell for their full price. Although Moneysaving Expert offers a useful guide, different supermarkets have different ideal times to take advantage of these deals. But don't be misled by these offerings. While healthier items must be sought out elsewhere, the discount session frequently favours processed or dairy-heavy products.
10. Look for less expensive options
Even while you could convince yourself that a branded product is superior or more delicious than the store's low-cost alternative, there often isn't much of a difference. Look close for less costly variants and check if you can taste the difference because the well-known brands and more expensive varieties will be at eye level. But don't automatically assume that the brands will cost more.
11. Be cautious while choosing dates
The products that have the longest shelf lives will be placed beneath or behind those that are about to expire. You can locate food you can enjoy for longer if you dig around When you get home, move things that are about to expire to the front of the fridge's shelves to remind you to eat them before they go bad (especially those with a "use by" stamp). Try to cook any food that is going to spoil while it is still fresh; soups and stews are great for extending the shelf life of vegetables.
12. Monitor your spending
Certain people tally their purchases as they go, and some shops include tools to make this easier (scan and shop). If you discover that you frequently over your food budget try taking a month-long perspective by retaining receipts and keeping track of top-up shopping visits. If you and a partner split the responsibility for food shopping, be sure you're communicating well to prevent wasteful duplication.
