Let's be honest: Criston's offense’s more than justified and well-reasoned. Another question is how much this very offense is, but everyone will judge this through their own internal compass. Let me explain Cole’s motivation and worldview, maybe I'll open someone's eyes.

Let’s simulate the situation: we have a son from a humble family (so low that his position was low even for an engagement), who, with sweat, blood, his skills and efforts, carved out a place for himself in the Kingsguard, taking into account that, thanks to the goodwill of a representative of the royal family, - who has a golden spoon in her mouth, we remember, was able to get a healthy assessment of her capabilities and skills without watered calculations.

- “I know what it’s like to fight for something that others don’t value.”

He owes his new position precisely to the favor of the princess, and we have no reason to refute Criston’s conscience, because BEFORE any traumatic and drastic changes/events, he manifests himself as a conscientious and devoted knight, with a clear worldview.

They spend a lot of time together, and already at Aegon’s name day we see that the level of trust between Rhaenyra and Criston is high, moreover, it is rapidly gaining momentum when she opens some part of her soul, shares things that can be called “personal”, laments his situation and outlines the problems he faces. Most notable:

— “My father is trying to sell me to Jason Lannister. I was named heir to the throne only to improve the position of Lord Casterly Rock.

— Should I kill him?”

This is literally a joke about killing the LORD that Criston makes in the presence of the princess, and it is remarkable that they both laugh without taking it seriously.

— “You can choose your own path, you are lucky. Many would gladly change places with you.

— “I am the princess of Dragonstone, but I am toothless.”

— “Once, not so long ago, you were able to write my name in the White Book. A position in the Kingsguard is the highest honor for the Cole family. I owe you everything. And I wouldn’t call it toothless.”

He provides her with sincere support, without greedy or hypocritical intent, and she accepts it with open arms.

The development of their relationship, on the initiative of the princess, follows immediately when, after some time, abandoned by Daemon (I condemn) in a brothel, she persuades Criston to have sex. Rhaenyra lures him into the room, plays with the helmet, kisses him, not allowing him to leave, and then tries to free the knight from his armor. Yes, Criston could more than experience romantic feelings towards his princess, but above all, it was a kind of admiration, sincere gratitude for what bestowed her favor on the rootless commoner. His representation of Rhaenyra may seem banal and naive, namely as “a poor princess, enslaved by her position,” we will note this in the future. But based on his pure motives, he faces a choice in which his feelings equally suffer, his vows and, of course, the wishes of his object of desire, in relation to whom Criston has never crossed the line before, are called into question. Many may underestimate the pressure that arises between the statuses and titles of total opposites, and only in the example of “maid - prince” do some realize the problematic nature of such a union, but not “princess - knight”. Please note: despite gender, it is still a class difference that breeds power with abuse. And, unfortunately, Cole cannot know and be sure that Rhaenyra’s need to get sex here and now has nothing to do with her love for him. He hesitantly follows the princess's lead, putting aside his white cloak.

Next we see and hear that Criston is ashamed of himself for violating his honor, neglecting his duty, although he listened to his heart, to his duty to Rhaenyra.

— “You occasionally confided in me... Over the years of acquaintance. And it seems to me that I know you. A little.

— “More than a little.”

Another imaginary confirmation in Christon’s eyes of reciprocity.

— “You have said many times how you despise your position. That you will be married off at the whim of your father, without thinking about the inclination of your heart. And this day has come."

He imbues her with the problem mentioned in the past; driven not only by his dilemma, but also by Rhaenyra's “confinement,” a literal shackle that equally binds and constrains them both.

— “I ask you to come with me. Away from all this, from the humiliations and burdens of your heritage. Let's leave all this and look at the world together. We will be free, nameless. We are free to go wherever we want, to love whoever we want. Will you marry me? Not for the crown. For love.

— “I’m the Crown, Ser Criston. Or I will be her. I can complain about my debt, but would I choose infamy in exchange for a barrel of oranges, or a ship to Asshai? It is my duty to marry a noble of a great house. But my marriage is not the end all be all. Ser Criston, Laenor and I have come to an understanding. I gave him the right to do what he wants. He granted me the same”.

— “Do you want to make me a whore?”

— “I want what started to continue.” You are my protector. My white knight”.

— “I made a vow, a vow of chastity. I have nothing but my white cloak, and I have stained it! I thought the wedding would cleanse him.”

Literally, Criston pours out not only his soul to Rhaenyra, but also to us, as viewers. He dictates the reality of his situation, assures that he can provide and protect the princess as much as possible. But, of course, for the blood of the dragon, for the heiress, for the father’s daughter, who was previously brought up in the conditions of “do you want it? Get it!” such a prospect is worthless. Naive of Cole? Yes, but not without reason.

After everything, he feels extremely vulnerable, as well as after a sincere confession to the Queen - which responds even more precariously and nervously to any conscience and confidence, despite her gratitude. Already at the wedding of Rhaenyra and Laenor, Cole, like a taut string, stands at the service, but restlessly and nervously looks at the princess.

— “I’m on duty, what’s your business?”

— “You don’t know me, Ser Criston, but this alliance is very important to both of us.”

— “If you have something to say, Ser Joffrey, speak.”

— “Ser Laenor is as dear to me as I know the princess is to you. We must swear to keep them and their secrets. We’re not in any danger yet... They are safe.”

Sounds like a threat to a pins and needles knight with a stained cloak and a sense of duty, don’t you think? Criston can only guess how Joffrey knows about his affair with the princess, and only one of the options may look convincing - Rhaenyra telling Laenor about this, who could notify his lover along the chain. Again, every possible inclination towards princess on his part is undermined when their secret is at stake. Yes, Criston succumbs to anger and panic, resentment and hopelessness, for which he commits a much more terrible act than calling a woman names. But even so, Cole feels guilt, boundless disappointment, and at the lynching he also feels remorse. He plans to voluntarily commit suicide and admits his every mistake. This scene is literally the rebirth of a knight in the rays of Alicent’s understanding and favor.

And as a result: people complain countless times and blame Criston for swearing towards Rhaenyra, for which he apologizes. Cool. Let's think critically and delve into the story and characters, and not spit hypocrisy.

i don't really feel comfortable looking into his dislikes about them, but thought i'd look into some potential green and red flags in their relationship. haven't read for them in months.

based on tarot. i do not know these idols personally. energies are always changing. what i say is NOT straight fact. pls take it with a grain of salt!

+ an incredibly well balanced relationship. they will complete and compliment each other beautifully, also bond over their similarities. especially when it comes to their ambitions, their fiery and creative sides. jungkook will gain a lot of confidence from his fs' existence and vice versa. i can see him feeling very inspired by his fs' existence creatively. maybe expect some love songs in the future.. he'll be good at writing about his love for them, i think. also his fs in particular, will benefit a lot from jungkook's warmth and vibrance. they might've been through a fair share of disappointment already, which turned them a little closed off at first. jk will be very good at breaking down those walls and opening up their heart, gaining their trust.

they will also just be very lovey dovey and cute with each other, a lot of romance. kinda like this long-lasting couple that everyone is jealous of, since everyday they seem to be just as in love with each other as when they first met. the romantic air will not die down for years it seems.. jungkook is a libra venus, so he'll probably find a lot of fulfilment in sweeping his fs off their feet. i can see him putting a lot of effort into planning the most beautiful dates.

there will also once again, be a great balance between lighthearted and carefree times, but also moments where they'll engage in deeper conversations. they'll truly enjoy each others company and have a lot of fun together, but connect to each other beyond the surface, on an emotional level as well. take away each others fears, light the way in times of darkness. the fact i only got court cards and major arcana really gives me this impression that their relationship will be extremely important for the both of them, it will definitely play a big role in their lives. they'll have a meaningful and longlasting impact on each other.

- the main problem i see here, is jungkook's fs struggling to deal with his incredible amount of fame. their partner being in the public eye and having so much going on, will overwhelm them for sure. as i stated before, his fs seems to have dealt with some past bad experiences already, which might've caused them some trust issues. a lot of overthinking. "i trust you, but i'm worried i'll get hurt again." is what i keep hearing. tbh, i do not see jungkook engaging in any infidelity. i actually see him remaining pretty loyal, his fs will just be in their head a lot. they're aware he's a very charismatic guy many people swoon over, so there's this sense of insecurity und worry when he's away. they basically don't like the thought of people looking at him a little too much, if that makes sense lol? maybe some of you know that feeling, i definitely do. "that girl smiled at you for a little too long, don't ya think?" kinda vibes lmao, or they'll feel all weird over jungkook just being his usual charming self with others, maybe confront him over it. they probably have some possessive tendencies and need to work on their ability to fully trust.

btw, i see this pattern for a lot of bangtan's future spouses, which is interesting. it seems they're aware of the set of unique difficulties dating a member comes with. many of them are worried over the members getting seduced by the fame and popularity, which is kinda inevitable with a bg as big as bts, i guess. however so far, most of them seem keen on staying faithful once they settle down 👏🏻

Though the apparent spoiling doesn't make sense, at first, Charleville is still visibly delighted by every meal you prepare for him. He's grateful, almost excessively so, and always has plenty of heartfelt thanks and compliments in return for your effort. When he starts gaining a noticeable amount of weight, however, that's a cause for worry. You haven't said anything about it, but he hasn't forgotten his previous Master's standards for staying appealing.

The home-cooked meals are a massive upgrade to 89's usual diet, which manages to be even worse than the standard military fare thanks to his tendency to resort to pre-packaged, shelf-stable junk whenever he has the chance. What you're offering feels way too good for a mere weapon... but feeling like someone cares, for once, erodes any common sense that might make him try to refuse. It never gets less awkward or embarrassing to be doted on like this, but 89 likes the attention way too much to fight it for long.

Ghost

He's used to being outright forgotten on meal schedules with unfortunate regularity, so having someone go out of their way to personally make sure he's fed is a downright overwhelming amount of attention, by Ghost's standards— and that person being Master makes it even worse. He's torn between treasuring every blessed meal he's given and worrying himself sick over just how much of your time is ending up wasted on a stupid prototype like this.

Siegblut

He starts out suspicious of why you're trying to do something so... weirdly nice. There's no reason to be spoiling him like this, so you must be planning some kind of nasty trick, right? Siegblut's defenses fall apart much faster if you let him in the kitchen with you, however— both indulging his cooking hobby and giving him even scraps of (much-desired) respect go a long way to make him open up to you, and eventually accept your meals as "safe".

Ninety

Food is truly the way to Ninety's heart— and offering regular meals earns his utter adoration. You're a kind, kind Master who not only wants to feed him, but goes so far as to make the food yourself just so it's up to your standards. Ninety doesn't know how he's ever supposed to repay you for it, but he'll do his best to be good! Keeping him fed builds a lot of trust, so you'll have a loyal, clingy puppy all but glued to your side now that he's gotten attached.

Death note imagines: Confession/Relationship (pt. 1)

Light Yagami:

As Kira, Light is likely to confess and try to start a relationship with you for his own personal gain. Not necessarily out of disregard for you as a person, but out of survival. He needs you around to make him look like a normal, healthy adolescent. His feeling for you may range anywhere from mild interest to neutral apathy. If he sought you out and chose you to keep the task force off his back, then it's not like his relationship with Misa. He doesn't dislike you the way he does her.

Before Kira, Light was bored by life. I honestly can't see him interested in a relationship beyond keeping up appearances for his family. (Are you seeing the pattern yet?) If that's the case, someone in his life probably set you two up. A mutual friend, or maybe his sister. He likes you well enough, but he's not in love with you. Still, he'll play the part- take you on dates, hold your hand, walk you home- because that's what you're supposed to do, right?

Overall, Light treats you fairly well. He's good at pretending but if you're paying attention you can see him mentally checking off the boxes.

L Lawliet:

In general, L is unlikely to confess to anyone. To him, being in a relationship is a huge risk. So if you end up in a relationship with him, you probably confessed first. You would have to know him and work with him for a long time- you have to be someone he wholeheartedly trusts, which is difficult to achieve. He has a lot of trust issues, they're necessary for him to survive in his line of work.

However, once he does fully trust you, he is surprisingly warm. He's always making a conscious effort for you becuase he knows how much you've sacrificed to be with him.

He shows his love by spending time with you. Because for L, time is absolutely everything. It is the most valuable thing he can give you. Laying on the couch together, sitting up late at night talking, going out to eat together. He can't spend all his time with you, but he makes time for you and for the things you love.

You spend a lot of late nights sitting with him while he works. As long as you're not distracting, you can lay your head in his lap and just relax while he types away.

Misa Amane:

Misa confessed to you the third time you hung out in person. She falls fast and hard and when she falls in love, she dives in and does not look back. She clings to you like a lifeline, especially if you show her any basic kindness or compassion.

After her parents were murdered, she herself was stalked and almost killed. Despite the bubbly, care-free attitude, she has been through a lot of life altering experiences. She's hypervigilant, she has nightmares, etc.

Misa can be very obsessive. To the point where she might cross a line, and she might not understand how or why what she's doing is dangerous or hurtful.

She shows her love in the most wild, extravagant, excessive displays of affection. You walk into work one morning and there are two dozen red roses on your desk. (Prompting your boss to ask if a family member died and if you need time off.) You get home in the evening and she's made your favorite dinner, desert, etc. It's not even valentines day yet.

The problem with Zvtara: Katara through the lens of Zuko

In this last part, we debunked the claims that a lot of the symbolism and imagery in the show represented Zvtara, when they very clearly paralleled Kataang. The next part of this meta addresses claims that Zuko and Katara knew each other and cared for each other more than their canonical partners, and I couldn’t wait to get into this. You see, on a surface level and with very cherry picked scenes, anyone can try and make that case. And I’m not going to deny the significance of their eventual beautiful friendship. However let’s analyze how much Zuko and Katara really understood each other, and if they really cared for one another or made a better fit for each other more than Mai or Aang. I’ll be referencing common Anti-Maiko/Anti-Kataang arguments here.

During the Crossroads of Destiny episode, we witness something remarkable. Two people, torn apart by a war, brought together by circumstance. And Katara does something even more amazing, for the first time she sees Zuko not as an enemy, but as a boy whose circumstances have taken a great toll on him too. He’s not just the face of the enemy. He lost his mother too. And she does something even more incredible, she offers to heal Zuko’s scar with her precious spirit water, even though he had wronged her and her friends, chased them relentlessly, almost killed them sverral times, taunted her over a precious token from her mom, you get the story. So despite having no obligations, she reaches out and takes a chance on him.

They’re eventually pulled apart. Katara later realizes that her efforts and empathy did not mean anything to Zuko, as despite it all, he still sides with his sister in an effort to gain his precious honor. Meaning, contrary to popular belief, that at this moment he did not care enough about Katara to choose her amity over his personal quest. Hell, he thought betraying his own uncle was worth it in the quest for honor. So why is this important?

Because not once when Zuko returns to the fire nation, does he express any guilt over betraying Katara personally. Not once do we see him take the second to remember the pain he inflicted upon her, which is even more poignant because she was the first person to trust him, to broach that divide across enemy lines, and to offer something so precious to her to heal him. We see Zuko agonize about betraying his uncle throughout his time, but not Katara. Sure, he was in anguish over trying to be someone he wasn’t in the fire nation, but the audience never once sees Zuko remember or mention the water tribe girl through the lens of her significant act of bravery and compassion. Even more, he only remembers their interaction in the context of how the Avatar could be alive - and how this further jeopardizes his position as Ozai’s son.

So much for thinking about the water tribe girl who put herself at risk to help you, huh Zuko. (Btw I’m not actually hating on him and nor do I think this makes him a bad character or bad fit with Mai, I’m just pointing out some glaring misconceptions about how he thinks of Katara)

And this becomes all the more evident when Katara doesn’t immediately accept him into the group. Zuko is actually bewildered by the fact that she doesn’t become friends with him as immediately as the rest of the Gaang. But the cherry on top is when Zuko has the audacity to get upset and frustrated with Katara, exclaiming

“This isn't fair. Everyone else seems to trust me now. What is it with you?”

It’s here. Plain as day and written in text. Zuko could not even remember the most pivotal aspect of the start of his relationship with Katara, the one that shippers claim has even more poignance and development than any scene from the canon ships. What Katara is so clearly hurt and impacted by, so much so that she was the only one to initially remain distrustful of Zuko when everyone else wasnt, and constantly verbalized that distrust - did not even hold the same weight to Zuko. It was a fleeting moment to him on his journey to find and redeem himself, but represented everything to Katara. And it shows on her face and in her words when she says this next:

And the cherry on top of the cherry on top of this is that when Zuko enters Sokka’s tent, he STILL can’t fathom why Katara hates him.

Zuko: Your sister, she hates me! And I don't know why! But I do care what she thinks of me.

WAIT. DIDNT Zuko JUST hear Katara when she said he betrayed the precious trust she placed in him? How his actions led to her witnessing the death (and revival) of her best friend? How he relentlessly attacked her in the cave after almost immediately forgetting her compassion? And it must be asked at this moment why Zuko cares about what Katara thinks of him. Because even At this point, he still fails to acknowledge the extent that his actions had on her.

Had Katara never taken the chance to verbalize her feelings, Zuko would have carried on with the Gaang, not being aware of or having more remorse over his personal betrayal to Katara. Would Zuko have come to this realization himself if Katara never explicitly told him? If it didn’t impede his ability to form a strong alliance with everyone in the Gaang in order to work together to take down Ozai?

And that’s when I become puzzled over statements like “Zuko cared about Katara and understood her on a way deeper level than Aang ever did.” Because what we see her is quite the opposite of that. Zuko only remembered Katara’s spirit water and how it put a wrench in his plans, but couldn’t remember Katara herself. He couldn’t couldn’t recall his betrayal of her in the cave, couldn’t understand her initial hatred even after she pointed it out, and used the opportunity to hunt her mother’s killer to redeem himself in her eyes. Something that would have never happened until the narrative called for it.

Speaking of the last part, the other common Zvtara argument I see is “Zuko understood Katara’s pain and allowed her to feel it. Aang shut it down.”

At this point it’s becoming a game of selective ignorance. Because the shippers will claim that “Aang compared something as serious as Kya’s death to the trivial temporary loss of an animal” without acknowledging the literal next thing he says, which is:

“How do you think I felt about the Fire Nation when I found out what happened to my people?”

Which IS a fair comparison. Aang mentions the genocide of his family to empathize with Katara’s loss of her mother.

And they also pretend that Aang shut Katara down completely in order to force his values down her throat and discourage her from going on the trip, which is in blatant ignorance of when Aang says this:

“I wasn't planning to. This is a journey you need to take. You need to face this man. [Katara situates herself on Appa's head.] But when you do, please don't choose revenge. Let your anger out, and then let it go. Forgive him.”

And Yeah, Katara chose not to forgive her mothers killer. As she should. But let’s not forget what she does at the end, which is to let her anger out and then let it go. She ultimately did not choose revenge. And Aang knows this.

Because Aang witnessed Katara cry in regret when she learned about blood bending, something Zuko never witnessed. And he knows the toll that killing a person would take on Katara, someone who is inherently compassionate and wishes to see the good in everyone. Who was willing to put aside the injustices she faced at the hands of the Fire Nation to truly help the enemy she had every right to hate, like how she helped the village as the Painted Lady and reached out to Zuko in the cave. Something else Zuko never truly grasps till much later, because why else was it so hard for him to remember her poignant compassionate act?

And lastly, when Zuko blocks Azula’s lightning strike directed at Katara. While a lot of shippers claim, as they are free to do so, that Zuko did this because of his profound and undying love for Katara and that he couldn’t fathom living in a world without her, I can’t help but think back to this post where Zuko would have done the exact same thing if it was any member of the Gaang in her position. Much less that, but do you think he would hesitate to throw himself in front of Azula if it was Mai in Katara’s position?

Because it doesn’t matter who it was. As part of Zuko’s final act of redemption, he realizes that true honor comes from doing the right thing, not for personal validation. The reason for Katara’s presence isn’t romantic - but it exists narratively because this is the same girl he betrayed to join his sister in order to validate himself in his father’s eyes. Emphasis on HIMSELF. But after this entire journey, it doesn’t matter whether Zuko lives or dies. Because at this moment, Zuko realizes that saving the world and doing the right thing is worth more than a trivial Pat on the back from his father. There is a lot of poignance from the authors choosing Katara to be there, instead of Toph or even Momo. But to say that this act is because Zuko had this undying romantic love for Katara that was never fully realized is undermining his whole arc.

As I’m writing this I realize that my qualm isn’t about people shipping Zvtara in the first place. I too have such ships. But it’s the fact that people who ship them use this a tool to further the agenda that Zuko never loved and cared about Mai as much as he did Katara or Katara with Aang . I remember reading this post from a blog called the crooked pen when I initially joined the fandom, who attempted to upholster Zvtara through this argument:

Now literally replace that second sentence with Katara. Not once does Zuko mention Katara after Ba Sing Se during the time he was at the fire nation. He only remembers their interaction as an obstacle preventing him from reaching his goal. He obsesses over his betrayal of Iroh for a great deal, however. And This is after Katara willingly put herself at risk, knowing the consequences, by extending the olive branch and almost giving him her spirit water to heal. And people want to convince me that he had this unfulfilled, undying love for Katara that he never had for Mai, despite him taking the extra precautions to protect her physically through a letter, even if it meant hurting her and himself emotionally, and literally giving us the biggest smile we had ever seen from him when he mentioned her?

Which makes this second part even more frivolous because there’s a reason why he cares about the opinion of water tribe girl, and it’s not because he’s deeply and irrevocably in love with her and has much more to do with it being the last piece of the puzzle of a strong alliance, built on trust, to take down evil, once and for all.

Also please refer to @thethiefandtheairbender’s post about him “forgetting” her in prison, when in reality she was freed before everyone formally was at his coronation.

Anyways, this is one of the reasons why I personally never saw the potential in what people claim to be infinitely better than the original canon ships. The next part is Zuko through the lens of Katara. Let me know your thoughts!

Out of curiosity, how were your beautiful pups rescued? I’ve always dreamed of having a rescue pup myself but at the moment can’t have my own pet. Thank you!

Hi, thanks for the ask! Barney & Flynn both came to me by chance really & were private adoptions, rather than from a shelter. They have similar backstories. I got them as young adults - Barney at 15 months, Flynn at 20 months, after their respective previous owners couldn’t cope with their behaviour. Both were “reactive” - displaying fear based aggression. Barney had a wider range of things he hated: strangers, dogs, new/unexpected objects & situations but Flynn’s case was much more severe - he was almost untouchable. Both dogs were in imminent danger of being euthanised due to these issues - Barney within hours & Flynn, days.

By very lucky chance, my dad was there at just the right time & he offered an emergency foster home for Barney. Dad planned to find a new owner, who’d dealt with “difficult” dogs before. I was inexperienced but had wanted a BC for 15 years & when I met Barney, I fell in love & decided we’d make it work, somehow! The early years were tough - I had lots to learn. With Flynn... it turns out, once you’ve helped one nervy border collie, people try to give you more!! I was reluctant to even meet Flynnie - from what I'd been told, he was clearly going be very hard work, which I wasn't keen to take on but I finally gave in & he was a sweet, clever dog who seemed very keen to try. He'd run out of options - it was come to me, or Flynn was going to be put down... I crossed my fingers & said I’d have him. So, yes, I got my dogs because they needed a 2nd chance & I was there & willing to have them.

Life with Barney & Flynn hasn’t always been easy - but they’re wonderful, loving dogs & seeing their behaviour improve, as they gain confidence & trust, has been an incredible experience. Private adoptions *can* be risky though & there’s often less of a safety net, if you realise it’s not working out. If & when you’re in a position to get a dog, I’d try to adopt via a well-run rescue organisation, to have the best chance of success. Look for an organisation which assesses each dog & can give a bit of info on health, temperament, behaviour & care requirements, & just in case you do run into any problems, check if they offer support after adoption.

There are all kinds of dogs waiting for new owners: some will have had a good family before & will fit in to a new home quite easily, many dogs will need training - to learn basic manners, leash walking, poss how to interact politely with kids/dogs etc... others have behavioural (or health) problems, which will require a great deal of time, effort & poss money, to manage long-term. Any adopted dog will need patience & guidance while they settle in but some are going to be easier than others - it is worth thinking about what you're happy to deal with. Whatever dog you choose, you’ll be helping more than just that one - the space created by their adoption will be now be open to another dog in need of a new family.

Anyway that turned into a very long reply, sorry for the essay & that I was a bit slow replying! I hope you don’t have to wait too long until you’re in a position where you get a rescue dog of your own & that when you do it's a fun & rewarding experience & you have many happy years of adventures together :)

I uh, I need help with taking care of a Scizor. (I know to keep it out of hot climates already, luckily I spend most of my time in the Polar Biome). I've never had one before, but it was hurt and I decided to take it in! Is there anything I should know about, like nutrition, physical activity, or their wellbeing in general?

Also, it's very untrusting, which is understandable, but it seems to get along with Apollo (My Decidueye) the best.

Greetings, Vivian. To start, congratulations on your new teammate. Scizor are wonderful companions, and with the right training and attention can be fearsome on the battlefield.

XP was also a rescue, so I am quite familiar with the process of healing and rehabilitating a Scizor. That said, every pokemon is different, so if your Scizor begins to exhibit a behavior which you do not understand do not hesitate to reach out to your local vet or professor. I will put the remainder of this post under a readmore, as it became quite long.

When in the early stages of bonding with a new Scizor the most important factor to keep in mind is to watch for their warning signs. As mentioned by the pokedex, they use the eye markings on their claws to confuse predators, and will wave these claws around when they feel threatened. How they wave these claws can tell you a lot about how threatened or stressed your Scizor is. One claw held low with the eye marking facing outward is mild stress or displeasure - XP often does this when Rollo is being a bother. If both claws are raised, eye markings facing outwards, snapping loudly and alternating to block your view of Scizor's face that is a sure sign that this Scizor is very stressed and highly likely to attack if the stressor is not removed. Respect the boundaries your Scizor sets and they will slowly begin to trust you.

Once your Scizor trusts you enough to allow you to touch them, grooming is going to be your best method of bonding. In the wild they rely on frequent baths in streams and rivers, as they cannot groom themselves particularly well otherwise. Being able to polish and pamper your Scizor is a delightful experience for them.

As for basic care, I can see you've clearly already done some research. You have likely already come across this rule, but just in case you have not: if your scizor beats their wings for 2 minutes straight, without pause or pulsing, it is a sure sign they are about to overheat. I am pleased to see you are being cautious about this, but I assure you it is not necessary to train only in the Polar Biome in order to avoid this. XP does quite well in the Canyon Biome, and as long as you are sure to give them plenty of breaks during training they will be fine.

Diet I assume you have already researched, so the only extra advice I have is to edit the amount of steel type supplement based on how much meat your Scizor prefers to eat. They have each of them specific preferences, and a Scizor that eats more berries than meat will require a larger dose of supplements to keep their shell healthy and strong.

Lastly, for polish, I would recommend something gentler than most. Compared to other steel types, Scizor's shell is quite thin and designed for speed and agility over defense. They tend to be a bit more sensitive because of this and will not enjoy a thicker grit. Again, each individual has their own preferences, but Scizor as a whole do not typically enjoy a harsh scrub the way a Metagross might.

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to reach out further. Gaining the trust of a traumatized pokemon can be a long and heartbreaking process, but the bond you can forge if you have patience, compassion, and the correct knowledge makes it worth the effort a thousand times over.

Ok so a sad angst request where Jack cheated on reader but he was really drunk and he’s really upset at himself about it and is asking reader for forgiveness but reader is just so upset because she wants to forgive him but she made a promise to her self that she would never take back a cheating man and she just falls into depression and Jack hates himself for it. (And maybe a ending where reader finally can be happy with her and Jack just being friends and Jack can settle with the idea knowing that’s the closest thing he’ll ever get to her again.)

“It was a mistake”

“Jack you had sex with your ex!”

“I know I know and I'm sorry”

“This….was not a mistake” Y/N broke into tears. “You wanted to hurt me, god knows for how long you have talked to her while we were still together. And you slept with her after our last argument….and I’m supposed to believe that it was some kind of mistake?”

“No, it wasn’t like that”

“Then how was it Jackman?” you looked at him in disbelief.

“I was really upset and started drinking and I think at some point I called Tori and the last thing I remembered was waking up the next day realizing what had just happened”

You sat on the couch and broke into tears as you covered your face in your hands.

His heart broke at the sight of y/n crying knowing it was all because of him.

“But she meant nothing to me I swear”

“You just tore us apart like it meant nothing,” she said looking at him with bloodshot eyes.

He was crying at this point which was something you rarely got to see.

“I- I wish I could hate you right now, but I don’t”

You paused.

“I promised myself I’ll never take back a cheating man….I don’t know where this leaves us but right now I need to be alone”

Jack didn’t say a word. He just shook his head in defeat and left.

You didn’t remember crying so much as you did that night.

The following days were agonizing. She would climb into an empty bed, sleep, wake up the next day, go to work, go back home, sleep and repeat. She was on autopilot at this point. And it didn’t help that she didn’t tell anyone about it, because she was dealing with an unbearable amount of guilt for even reconsidering the possibility of getting back with Jack when she looked back at all their fond memories. But she also didn’t tell anyone about him cheating on her because of the humiliation that would come with coming into terms with that. So she didn’t do anything.

He never stopped checking on her. He felt horrible that it got him to this point to realize what he has lost.

On week 4, he received a text.

We need to talk

Where should we meet?” you replied.

“There’s this diner we could go to”

Then she sent him the diner location.

“Be there at 4”

“I will” he replied.

He managed to arrive half an hour earlier, and as he sat down in the booth, he felt his heart in his throat when he thought about the chances of winning her back.

He felt his heart race once he saw her enter the establishment as she started walking toward him.

“Hey”

“I didn’t know if I should order you something-“

“I’m not staying long”

He just shook his head in agreement.

She looked down as she attempted to put together what she wanted to say.

“I spent a lot of time reflecting on where this leaves us. And even though I have so much love for you…..I need to put myself first. I never stopped loving you and I don’t think I ever will. I guess what I’m trying to say….is that I forgive you” she said looking into his eyes.

“Thank you-“

“-not because I think you deserve it, but because I need to let go of all my anger and sadness to heal. I don’t want to get back with you, but we can remain, friends, if you want” she finished saying.

“The thought of losing you forever petrified me. But if I have a chance to keep you in my life, even if it's just as friends, I’ll take it”

She gave him a weak smile.

“Thank you for forgiving me. I know I don’t deserve it. And I’ll put more effort into gaining your trust again” he said.

“It’s ok”

i am so so incredibly curious about kugie and sou's hypothetical ytr dynamic... just. blinking at them. i recall you mentioned maple thinking sou is a very nice polite man and i was wondering if she's like the only one to think so :o

I LOVE KUGIE AND SOU!!!! they are so shaped. the general dynamic between them is that sou likes kugie well enough, and kugie’s feelings on sou are…very complex tbh. she really doesn’t trust him but she ends up feeling sympathetic for him in a lot of situations

their relationship starts off pretty well, as sou is one of the main people to comfort kugie while she’s grieving. he kind of projects onto her a little bit, because he’s also grieving kanna in his own way, so he empathizes with her. yet, as much as she appreciates this effort, i think part of her would be…unnerved by sou. kugie’s a very perceptive person, and something that struck me about her relationship with kanna is how she initially thought kanna was ‘creepy’ for always smiling and laughing, not realizing she was just trying not to inconvenience anyone. in that same way, i think she’d recognize that something was off about sou in that his whole demeanor just seemed sort of…fake.

i think this feeling of distrust would come to a head in the first main game, where it’s revealed that big ol’ liar “sou hiyori” and the more quietly deceptive “shin tsukimi” are working together. kugie and shin really mutually dislike each other when they first meet (recognizing the self through the other (derogatory)), and so kugie’s feelings about shin sort of rub off onto how she feels about sou too.

so, moving into chapter 2, we have this weird dynamic where sou is liking kugie more and more and kugie is liking sou less and less. yet, this begins to change when kugie comes to the conclusion that sou is being manipulated by shin. why does she think this? well,

at some point, sou finds the phone from kugie and kanna’s first trial room, and much like shin does in yttd he rewrites the message to sound like something kind: something kanna would actually say. he then goes to kugie to, effectively bribe her for the laptop, saying that he’ll give her the phone if she gives the laptop over to him.

initially she’s like HELL NO, i’m not falling for that, but then sou pulls his sadboy act and is like “but…if i can’t get the laptop, then i’m not sure what sou will do to me” which of course IMMEDIATELY activates her big sister instincts and she’s like ok what. we are not doing this. take the laptop do NOT hand it over to “sou” he’s clearly just using you for his own personal gain. so basically sou emotionally manipulated this poor girl into believing that he was being emotionally manipulated 👍 hate this guy (affectionate)

i think that from this interaction, kugie starts to trust sou more (which is ironic because this is one of the only times he just straight up lies to her). weirdly, i feel like kugie starts to see kanna in sou and sou starts to see shin in kugie. obviously they’re very different people but they have similar attitudes about lots of stuff. it’s just the elder sibling activation instinct over and over except they’re both trying to be the elder sibling

their relationship starts getting rocky again at the beginning of the violet route, though. and it’s because sou crosses the one line that kugie will never accept anyone crossing— hurting ryoko. she gets extremely angry at him and sort of holds this resentment throughout chapter 3. so now we’re back to that tumultuous nature of kugie getting really mad at sou, and sou atp in time realizing that he really really actually cares about kugie, which he never expected to.

…but then she goes BACK to being protective over him once she realizes how badly he’s going through The Horrors with his mom. kugie just. can’t make up her mind about this man. AND I CANT BLAME HER HES A MESS!!!

i hope this satisfies the greenbling urge but yeah they are the sibling dynamic of all time i luv them <3 that’s sou’s weird emotional support teenage girl who wears screws in her hair for whatever reason and beats him up for his wrongdoings /j

I want to talk more about sanji and her boyfriend during his ' stomach ache ' (I'm totally not projecting)

Usopp tends to get much more anxious and on edge than usual. He tends to snap at others more or gets easily upset over small inconveniences. He quietly cried on sanji's shoulder when Zoro spoke to him an octave louder than usual once. (She beat his ass later)

His craps aren't severe but it's a constant ache in his lower abdomen (he also gets to one terrible ass cramp) which just worsens his mood. Sanji tries her best to make him as comfortable as possible. she never takes it personal when he yells or snaps at her, and welcomes him in open arms when needing comfort. She always stocks his sanitary products for him always getting him the right brand (it also gives her gender euphoria) She lets him use her pillow to sleep with she always provides him a hot water bottle and a back rub. helps him get ready in the morning running a hot bath with a nice mea waiting for him.

She provides nice clean loose fitting clothes next to the bath. She also takes and cleans his bed sheets and bottoms if there are any leaks she knows usopp doesn't like to acknowledge his period so she takes care of anything that reminds him of it. Sometimes he does talk about it but only with her, and it's usually when everyone is asleep. It's mostly just him venting about how the villages treated him and the discussion of periods in general, they always called it ' lady business' he wasn't a lady. Or they treated it like it was wrong. Yeah it's national and it happens to a lot of people but don't bring it up ever if you do you're the weirdo. They made him feel so ashamed and embarrassed to the point he internalized it. He is honestly jealous that the others are so relaxed about it even the guys. Like how?! How come nobody gets shaky and short of breath when talking about it why is it just him?!(It's also a lot of dysphoria as well)

She tries her best to help him and give him some reassurance. Tho she also pushes him to tell Nami about this during their daily meet up in the garden maybe she can help him gain confidence talking about it to someone with no shame whatsoever

I project all the damn time when I write about these characters too, honestly, half of the things they go through in my concepts have happened to me. So please project.

I love this so much :( T4T relationships my beloveds. Sanji helps him not acknowledge her period and is the only one whom Usopp trusts enough to talk to about these things. And Sanji makes all these little efforts to make the process better and more comfortable,,, It's so so sweet. I think she also makes him all the food he wants and stays cuddling with him after. When this happens they're usually in their own little bubble for a while, since it's a sensitive topic and Usopp isn't really in the mood to socialize.

Final Fantasy XVI's similarities to Tales of Arise have me on a Tales kick, which means I ended up playing Tales of the Tempest, widely considered the worst game intended to be a mainline Tales title. It took me about 15 hours and I did every sidequest I found, all of which involved walking across a field map at a frustratingly slow pace to pick up an item and then walking all the way back for a line of dialogue and a negligible amount of money. I easily could have shaved at least two hours off my playtime and I wouldn't have lost anything.

Tempest is a 2005 japan-only release for the DS developed by Dimps, the freelancers behind most handheld Sonic games and a good chunk of handheld licensed games, especially for DBZ and Digimon. When it dropped, it received so much hate from fans that Namco pretty quickly pulled it from the list of mainline Tales games, though they've recently quietly added it back to the list. They developed two more DS Tales games afterwards, in-house, and to fan approval, which makes Tempest even more interesting to me, as a first, failed attempt at a handheld Tales game.

It's definitely a bad game. Everything that involves a menu takes about three more button presses than necessary, the world takes a long time to travel for no good reason, the models are low poly and the textures are worse. The battle system is so unnecessarily limited that it's honestly barely worth engaging with. You only get four arte slots, and the protagonist's main gimmick is that he can turn into a werewolf when under half health, but transformation takes up an arte slot, so he functionally only has three. CPU-controlled characters also will only use moves assigned to their four arte slots. And there's no access to the artes menu in battle. Two of the five characters are werewolves, so only have three slots. Two more are mage/healer combos, so you have to divide their four slots between both offensive and healing spells. They balance this by making healing items unbelievably cheap and easy to obtain. Lemon and Pineapple Gels are 90 gald each. Miracle Gels are available in all stores for about 200 gald each. I ended the game with 80k gald.

The game has five party members, but only the protagonist, Caius, gets enough focus and story relevance that I'd consider him a character. Of the four main villains, two end up being his father and his brother. Another villain wears a mask and has the same hair color as the female lead, so I figured they'd be related in some way, but no, the female lead is so coincidental to the story that despite being on the box, she's the only character whose name I don't remember. Two of the party members, Tilkis and Forest, are the prince of a country you never see and his bodyguard. The last party member, Arria, is a priestess with the evil church who's sent to spy on the party, immediately gains their trust with no effort, and then immediately turns coat on the church when pushed. There's not much there.

That said, the lore has weirdly a lot of potential. About a century ago, humans committed genocides against the werewolf and ogre races, which carved out space for the human country to take over as the main superpower on the continent. Now, the human church is carrying out an inquisition against werewolves once again for unknown reasons, stoking fear against werewolves among the populace by spreading false rumors and executing any werewolves delivered to them without trial. This is pretty standard rpg stuff, but it's made interesting about halfway in, when it's revealed that the church is capturing werewolves to try to learn about a magic spell the werewolf country once had that was able to resurrect the dead. The goal of the inquisition is to gain and use this spell to resurrect all the victims of that genocide, thus making humans no longer culpable for the sins of their ancestors.

It's a fucking good hook, honestly. It reminds me of current debates around history education and white guilt. The church figures they can commit any violence they want in the present, as once they get that spell, the dead will come back anyway, so they won't have done anything wrong. The best parts of the game are when Caius tries to make his adversaries understand that making the dead no longer dead doesn't fix torture or generations of oppression. It doesn't rebuild the ruined werewolf city, return their lost poetry, or make their two countries relative equals on the global stage once more.

Unfortunately, they don't do a ton with this one really good idea. It's revealed near the end that the spell was a lie (it actually opens a portal to an evil dimension), the war between werewolves and humans was a lie (the werewolves opened a portal to an evil dimension and humans took credit for their fall for some reason), and the genocide against the ogres was inconsequential (ogres are not sentient and didn't have a country to begin with, they just stay north of the wall). It's like they understood that Tales games are known for their twists but didn't understand what a twist needs to do in order to change a story for the better. Just a strange game all around.

Abilities:

Gaia’s abilities range being unable to die in her own rights even if her bodily vessel is destroyed, after a while she manifests back into the fabric of reality. Along with being able to summon small imp like creatures and underlings at random to help as diversions and distractions in order for her to have higher chances of moving forward with her plans along with analyzing said opponents to see what she may be facing head on if worthy enough to even attempt to fight. Due to her small frame, it leaves her agile and quick on her feet and quite flexible making it easy to fit through even the smallest places. Though with hand to hand combat it depends on the person she’s up against if she will fair in or not, she’s better at midrange combat.

Personality:

Gaia can be seen as a stubborn and sassy woman, tending to do things in her way despite most protest for her not to do so. She is analytical and calculative when it comes to battling and getting to know others, she would rather observe them before even letting anyone in arms length of her. She finds it hard to trust others and let others close to her, leaving her to isolate herself a lot within her younger years. To those who first meets her, she can come off as cold and standoffish by nature, carrying a stoic attitude and unreadable expression.

She has a short temper once her own buttons are pressed, tending to not let things slide once they start going south and won’t stop til whatever does mess with her anger is neutralized. Gaia is also very impulsive by nature at times, seeing that her impulsive thoughts can win and can sync up with others chaotic natures. Causing the utmost trouble with those around her, which can lead to much worse outcomes than good ones.

A rare sweet side comes out to Gaia if you manage to gain her trust, the cold nature seems to melt away and she would become more playful and pre sassy to the ones she is close to. Even opening up a bit to show her vulnerability which she tries hard to not show anyone due to her past traumas. Gaia also have a nurturing side, helping those who are younger and around her. Meaning she’d deliberately would go out her way to do for them, and to make sure they’re safe.

Biography:

Gaia not to be mistaken for the goddess of the earth and life is one of the many children fathered by the god Erebus, and a unknown demoness, as of so due to the overreaction of most worrisome gods knowing that it can be a threat as well for precautionary measures and reason. Gaia was shunned and locked away from the gods and mortal men, spending her time within the darkness. She grew quite a hard shell over the time she was alone making friends with the wrong people that caused her to get hurt multiple times over both mentally and physically.

By the time she was a young woman, she grew a more mischievous and violent nature finding it fun to press men and figure out how much she can push their buttons and break them by striking the right nerves after analyzing them for the longest time. Being responsible for many deaths and disappearances along her domain she kept herself in.

Eventually coming across Kratos after a while, seeing that his efforts where something more than what any god or men could want. Eventually gained Gaia’s respect, as Gaia began to give him aid when needed patching wounds and more. Becoming one of his first allies within his mission to take down the gods of Greece. Traveling with Kratos she and him grew a unique bond and friendship that couldn’t be broken. With mutual deep understanding and how their personalities worked and clashed with each other at the same time.

Once the gods of Greece fell by Kratos’s hand, throughout the years, their bond only strengthened and she became a close friend to him and trusted one at that, now sticking by his side even through the events of Ragnarok.

Atreus; Adoptive Son ; Living ; Gaia sees Atreus as her own, being the motherly figure in Atreus’s life after some time of his mother being dead. Gaia is highly protective of him, and helps give him advise and further some more techniques and skills that he may need.
