-You probably end up showing off your skills- not of purpose though, just- you seen a natural at what you do, and that’s when he sees that maybe there’s a reason you’re such a big deal

-They all fight over who gets to sit in the passenger seat. Some are more civil about it, for example Engineer or Heavy- but they still want to sit in the front for their own reasons. You may have walked into the room only to find all the mercs fighting iver who’s calling shotgun for the next ride.

What’s funny to me is that MHA’s Shoto Todoroki/Momo Yaoyorozu was the supposed “canon” ship for the characters involved. Especially before it became (increasingly) apparent that their “canonicity” is HIGHLY unlikely. Yeah, it’s easy to assume that the pair are “supposed” to be together due to their looks and socioeconomic status. However, I think Todoroki/Yaomomo will likely struggle to function as a “healthy, romantic couple” (much less resolve conflict in a healthy way). During the exam with Eraser Head, their behaviour/attitude toward each other were very telling (in my opinion). Given Kohei Horikoshi’s writing style, he’ll probably come up with some bullshit adjacent to “wiping tears with money.” Doesn’t help that neither Todoroki or Yaomomo have enough differences to balance/contrast each other.

This coming from someone who doesn’t mind the pair platonically. (No offence to the non-toxic fans. 👈💅)

Agreed. No hate to shippers though. I actually do understand the idea, yknow, two beautiful smart rich kids together, they would look perfect together but i personally always find it as forced and superficial.

First of all, as you mentioned anon, they dont have 'the balance'. Usually, if two characters are 'parallels', their similar sides may lead them to understand and relate each others while their opposite sides may lead them to attract, challenge and even balance each others. That kind of pair always works. Because thats actually how most healthy partnerships works, whether its romantic or platonic.

For example, Shouto and Izuku are both abuse victims which is why they can relate and they would rather trust each others than trusting an adult or any autoharity figures while Izuku's expressive and anxious nature match with Shouto's calm natures. Or Shigaraki and Toga. Toga's positive nature balance Shigaraki's hatred while their bratty monstrous side make them relate to each others.

Ironically Shouto and Momo is opposite of this.

Their similar side is that they are both airheaded, rich, beautiful kids with amazing quirks. They are both sheltered kids, this is why their similar side would limit their worldview. Because neither of them does know nothing about being an outcasts or common people. They live in their own world. I think both of them need to see outside of world of their own. But neither of them seems to realize they even need to develop that side of them. This is why this doesnt work. Even their opposite sides, such as Shouto's being abused child while Momo never experienced that. She is naive. There is no abuse in her world. No pain. She wouldnt understand the signs or other things. For example, Ochaco is similar to Momo about this. She isnt abused but because of her family's sitution and all, she notices when people are in pain but Momo isnt. Not blaming her though since thats how she was raised. But this is why their relationship doesnt work. Momo and Shouto cant balance or challenge or really relate each others as characters is why i dont ship them.

Though, i wouldnt be surprised, if it becomes canon because Momo is the only 'female student' he seems to really interact with and Momo repeatedly said she trusts 'Todoroki-san' or how she appears randomly each others arc, such as how happy Momo looked for Shouto on license exam from background or how Shouıto randomly starts talking for Momo at class a vs class b arc. These are actually my problem with this ship. Because it isnt earned.

As you said anon, Aizawa is the one who noticed Momo was having problem and thats why Shouto helped her. Not because he noticed that she was having trouble. And he gave her courage by saying he voted for her.

Look, i do understand why Momo would admire Shouto. He is the best, strongest student in her class. Who wouldnt be happy, if class best student said they trust you to win the match and i do understand why Shouto would trust her abilities since she is smart and very good at making plans. But thats it.

Why would Momo trust Shouto to the point she would go against the rules to save Bakugou? I mean, we know Shouto is kind, trustworthy as audience but Momo doesnt know that?? He never showed that side of him to her. She knows nothing about him. She puts him on high regard since the beginning even when he was Earlyroki, just because boy looks perfect but Shouto needs someone who wouldnt view him as perfect. I would rather to see this as just some admiration or small attraction than actual love. It makes more sense that way.

Compare this to Iida, Izuku, Ochaco, Shouto group. Group trust Izuku because he broke his own body to help people, to help Ochaco, to help Shouto, to help Iida but what did Shouto do for her to trust him that much? Nothing.

Also the scene when Shouto speaks for her of all people is kinda laughable to me. Like, Shouto, you know nothing about Momo. You guys dont even talk at all. You wouldnt know how she would feel or think. It would makes more sense if it was Jirou who said that since 1- they interacts a lot 2- at usj attack, she saved her and Kaminari. Wouldnt it makes more sense Jirou to speak for her, like how much smart she is or show she feels lack of confidence sometimes and all.

I keep saying it feels forced and superficial because they trust each other's abilities and thats why they trust each others but as person, they are strangers.

Well, lack of interaction between kids in class1a is one of the issues with writing. Especially between female-male relationships. This is why 'gay' ships seems more makes sense lol since author doesnt really bother to develop others (especially female characters). But i think some of those relationships still feels deep and makes sense, while those two doesnt. And it isnt well build at all. Though, just as i menitoned at first, because of their dynamic, i still wouldnt like it. Its like shoujo manga romance, kinda innocent cool handsome rich boy x pretty rich girl dynamic, to me, its undermines both of their characters because they are more than this.

During the story;

Momo is hardly part of main plot. She is beautiful. She is talented. She has parents and friends who uncontionally loves her. She is smart. She is good girl. She seems to interacts with Jirou and others. Her rivalry with Kendou is interesting. She hardly even talk with Shouto.

Shouto is one of the main characters. Story focus on his relationships with family the most. His main hero partners are Izuku and Bakugou. His best friends and only people he seems to prefer to hang out is Izuku and Iida. And he is literally experiencing one of the most important events in his life during the story. And yknow what? Momo is not part of it. She is just there with others.

Though, it is always fun to explore different ideas or ships and thats why i was kinda interested in some analysis. But yknow, when you read some posts, you feel 'its reachin'. Thats how i feel about Todo//momo, Kacch//acho and Bakugou/Aizawa posts.

Like when two characters existing in same scene or wearing similar clothes or just standing side by side, some fans immediately look for making it look deeper than it actually is. (Though, you might say this is the case for every ship but some of them at least makes sense.) This is how i feel when i read comments about todomomo. It feels a lot like kinda crack ship in canon while it treated as it is better than that.

Another biggest example of this is Uraraka vs Bakugou. People like the idea of Bakugou trusting Uraraka so much that they ignore the fact that she is the only person he asked 'are you sure?' before the match, or how he thought it was Izuku's plan or we all know the only reason Bakugou is serious when it comes to matches ebcause he couldnt care less if others person gets hurts. People really think that romance would fix the problem with Bakugou. Especially, of all characters, its Ochaco. It doesnt make sense emotionally intelligence girl like Ochaco who was raised with love to fall in love with abusive guy like Bakugou who calls people with nicknames and constantly being rude to them for no reason, instead of kind boys like Izuku, Iida or Shoutoo respects who her as person since the beginning. Only girls who would date with toxic guys are whether they are naive or most likely they are abused at home. Ochaco isnt either of them. And Bakugou already has someone whom he naturally bond, it is Kirishima. Which is why even though i dont personally ship, i think kiribaku makes sense.

And with Bakugou, i dont know. I feel like fandom is kinda protective of his character. You cant make posts about it without being 'anti'. Like, certain part of the fandom treats them as just people who wants Bakugou to suffer, despite the fact that %90 of the 'anti bakugou' fans has problem with writing. Most posts less about 'hatred for character', more about 'writing criticism'. I mean fandom is very comfortable with cricitising Izuku for every single mistake he does, they cant do that with Bakugou too? Izuku becomes copycat for copying Allmight but when Bakugou does, it is cute. Izuku gets hate for telling Shouto, he is kind for forgiving, even though he clearly didnt mean to say not forgiving is unkind while Bakugou shouts at Fuyumi for no reason and he gets away with narrative and fandom. It is really weird how much narrative (and fandom) overlook Bakugou's abuse towards Izuku and the fact that Bakugou has big plot armor.

Recently, i realized there is similar problem with Aizawa and Endeavour too.

Or Someone's comment about how Bakudeku is simiar to spinnaraki. Yeah, i kidna see the parallels but except yknow, Bakugou abused Deku while Shigaraki never once judged or looked down on Spinner and they actually bond because they both feel empty, not forced connection such as 'you two need to learn from each others'. I would say it looks more like Dabi-Spinner dynamic since Dabi is kinda jerk to Spinner but boy still admires Dabi for his power and all, though at least Dabi isnt really bully to him specifically and Bakudeku dynamic is a lot simişlar to Koutaro-Shigaraki dynamic, Bakugou is literally parallels with Endeavour but its not mentioned enough. So yeah, Bakudeku is another forced relationship and worse, it is toxic.

Basically, Todomomo ship feels forced, unearned and, mostly empty. Supercifical. This story isnt even really about romance whether Shouto or Momo's character isnt about romance at all but in stories, romances can happen but yknow, if its gonna happen, it should be well written. In their cases, well, its not. I would prefer them as good hero partners than as romantic couples.

I hope you don’t mind me asking but I was just wondering what relationships Jamie will have with Roy and Keeley in your baby Jamie story. Something I’ve really enjoyed in your other fics like The Same Story, and your most recent fic is the amazing friendship Jamie has with them. Obviously a lot of things are different in your upcoming fic, and their history with Jamie is going to be vastly different, so I was really curious.

i don't mind at all!! i love love love talking about this fic and this is one of the like. central components of it and one of the parts that's most fascinating to me to think about and poke at, roy particularly.

roy and he have the same antagonism that they do when we meet them in canon though it looks obviously very different because of the fact that yknow. jamie's fifteen and not on the team so roy is MUCH less aggressive/actively beefing with a teenager lmao but they do sort of..... roy is endlessly frustrated with jamie's attitude and the fact that jamie seems to, from minute one, hate his guts for absolutely no reason at all. it evolves over time as the story progresses from this kind of frustrated, baffled resentment to roy somehow now TWICE OVER landing in a situation where he is sort of parenting someone else's kid with them without really meaning to, that's just how it happened.

there's phoebe, who he's fulfilling a very directly parental role with (and as somebody who usually means 'mother and grandmother' when i say 'my parents' i loved seeing this on screen. he's not her dad but he is very much a parent to her) and then there's the way that he and ted end up sort of coparenting jamie together by the time they get him out of his dad's house. it's like..... it's complicated and not very clear cut, because while ted is very much Jamie's Dad at this point roy is like..... he's not jamie's dad but he is A Parent, much in the way he is with phoebe which is a very fun like. family dynamic to explore in all directions (roy and ted and jamie as a collective, what this does for roy and ted's relationship, the relationship jamie ends up having with roy's sister (who i'm once again calling sarah sdlfs) and phoebe).

(there's also some complex stuff in there about the way that i've adapted some canon events - including the city win over richmond in 1x10 which jamie still plays a key role in and roy's retirement and refusal to coach jamie when he came back which, jamie's not on the team but that Situation still manifests in a way)

and with keeley it's obviously EXTREMELY different since they are not, never will be, and do not even come close to being involved romantically or sexually, gd bless. absolutely not. so we, and jamie, are introduced to her as the girlfriend of the richmond captain prior to roy, a very briefly appearing man i've dubbed leo charles. and then she's around richmond doing PR because of the job rebecca gives her, which is when she and jamie start interacting more. and the relationship they have - which again i feel i must stress because you know how fandoms are lmao is completely platonic at every point - is a very important one to jamie because she like....... treats him like a person, not like a child. she asks for his opinion on things and actually listens, she has a respect for him and his thoughts that he hasn't seen a lot.

and compared to the others too there's this sense, even when those relationships improve, with ted and roy and company, that they feel like he's someone they need to protect and care for, which is true! they do! and keeley is protective of him as well, is aware he's young and has been badly hurt and needs looking out for, but that's not the role SHE directly has in his life so she's like. someone who he doesn't feel like thinks he needs minding, or whatever, she's someone he can go to if he needs to feel Normal and go check out the new hipster coffee shop that's opened in the area or give an opinion on an outfit or something. he admires her and thinks she's probably the coolest person alive, pretty much.

-mary kim; she has a muscular figure with a lil tummy ! naturally started losing weight and building muscle while doing judo as a sport and exercising in general. she's still a little sensitive about her weight due to bullying when she was younger and at a larger size, but shes happy where she is now. she'll beat ur ass if u shit talk her weight but if u do it behind her back, vin jin will step in if he catches u ^_^

-jay; hes selectively mute, it formed mainly from his social anxiety but also because he's naturally an introvert and was neglected during his developing childhood stages, so that snowballed into selective mutism ! (saying this just bc i like having reasons for everything rather than just make him not being able to talk a Unique Character Trait Thing) i also have a whole ass backstory idea for him but i'll only share if someone's interested 😭 tbh tho i might get too attached to it and ignore canon if his real backstory ever comes out LMAOOO

-leonn; i ABSOLUTELY fucking refuse to have the only woman in the architecture department be there just bc she has a crush on some fucking guy (not an insult to vasco, simply an angry comment directed towards gross heteronormativity and the shitty use of female characters). anyways she mistook her deep admiration for vasco as romantic feelings

-warren; has a blackhole stomach. everyone in hostel is wary about wasted food bc theyre,, not very well off to say the least so anything they dont like/cant finish they give to warren and he happily chows down ^_^ also yeah hes not very picky about what he eats !!

-vin jin; the easiest way to tell he's embarrassed is when his ears go red. (jace, too... for obvious reasons) its hard to catch him blush under his shades sometimes! this may or may not also be the reason he grew out his hair ^_^

HOW TO FIGHT

-snapper has become such a talented cameraman he is now great at secretly recording things to blackmail his friends LMAAOAO (obviously nothing serious tho, snapper's not evil 😭)

-rumi has a habit of petting people's heads affectionately 💖

-jisoo's ass is rotting in jail! ^_^

-taehun is a child magnet. you'd think he'd scare off kids but nope they all wanna play with him. and he acts like he hates this fact yet he always plays with the kids or at least entertains them a little (when hes not busy). altho he does hate this fact; babies are always staring at him (yknow that one science study or whatever that said babies stare at pretty people? yeah.)

5: Do you take drugs? in a sense, no. I am personally really against alcohol and drugs for recreational use. one of the advantages of having a driver's license is that you can always count on me to be sober no matter where or when. I don't have any drug trauma or anything I just. REALLY hate it. cannot stand it. I'm cool with other people doing it of course, but I can only be so cool about it. if everyone's hanging out to drink and smoke yall can see me some other time yknow

13: Biggest turn ons shit that's hard to say. to answer honestly, I guess I like when people surprise me with how they approach me and others. so I would say people who display a lot of patience but still make you feel like they WANT to be patient, or that love to play on both yours and their terms and engage with teasing you but are still mindful to how much moderation they should have based on your reactions. attentiveness, even when subconscious, is very attractive. also when people see affection and attraction in similar ways than me or differently but still in a way that can connect with how I see it. so, focused on conversation, playing both together and in parallel, and casual intimacy. I guess. I was going to describe physical turn ons too, but slowly realized I was just going to describe the full anatomy of a human being. also praise. I adore compliments, especially when they feel earned (i.e. something I actually put effort into doing or saying was recognized and appreciated)

also i just like thinking about akito admiring how seriously rui takes being a director and as he becomes better friends w him and sees rui's softer side that he only really shows w wxs + mizuki and akito just going "oh. oh no. no, not him." is amazing.

thoughts on usph?

nah. usph is just. not it for me dude

its not even for historical reasons, yknow? like i know the philippine-american war was bloody and horrifying but there’s a reason why its also called the forgotten war. and yes part of it is probably because our schoolbooks are biased and focus way too much on the good parts of american colonization while demonizing spain (gee i wonder if thats related to how americans were the ones who set up the philippine public school system + america’s general thoughts on spain at the time was that it was too old and traditionalist to properly take care of the philippines anymore) but also. america did end up honestly supporting philippine independence, even if it was largely conditional. the philippine organic act of 1902 (most filipinos will know this one as the cooper act) - a law that basically meant that filipinos would be entitled to their own rights despite american occupation and actually have some small say on lawmaking and legislation; basically the first major step for transitioning ph from a colony into an independent state - was signed just a year after emilio aguinaldo surrendered and more or less put an end to the philippine-american war. then there’s the whole “america came back to the ph to fight against japan with us in ww2! and then they gave us independence yay!” hero worship pedestal. so i think if there’s any historical basis against shipping usph then for me, personally, it’d be based more on what happened after philippine independence and not before. because america still continues to drag phili into fighting american wars and making phili really economically and politically dependent on it in international affairs while not even really thinking about phili at all. so if you look at more recent history and contemporary issues between the two, you can interpret usph as pretty toxic.

but the main reason i dont ship usph is because i really dont want to ship phili with a privileged white man lmao, especially since america is a) his ex-colonizer and b) arguably the most powerful supernation in the world right now. the power imbalance just makes it feel really off for me. and i think there are better ships for both of them: i like usuk, romerica, and rusame, and i adore indophil and mexphil, for example. the only way i can think about usph romantically is if ph had an unrequited crush on america that faded away over time as he realized that he was just being taken advantage of.

i do want to say that i dont think phili is the kind of person that will openly hate america either! i mean yeah i guess filipinos in general still trust and admire america to a ridiculous degree but i just dont think that phili is the kind of person that is serious about holding grudges? like he’ll curse at america in good humor or he’ll stick his tongue out like a brat at spain or he’ll endlessly guilt trip japan when he’s asking a favor but in the end it’s all mostly water under the bridge. everything’s fine! or, well, at least phili would much rather pretend that everything’s fine if only to avoid serious confrontations with nations he knows he can’t win against. but that’s a post for another time

How I feel about this character: SHE’S SO FUN AND LOUD. Like definitely a Lawful type character given her dedication to KND rules (she just... ignores that she went to kindergarten with nigel, clearly the same age... cause the computer said they were all 13. On the same day. I imagine she was invited to his birthdays back then too so like.... I lvoe her) ALSO SHES TOUGH TOO!!! Took a papercut and just yelled at her tem for being babies. Her genuine admiration for 362 its a crush cmonnnn? Her respect to Abby AND Kuki? Amazing. She may rant about hating boys but its obvious it wasnt always forever and she definitely didnt seem to feel the same toward Maurice. Also I kind of love that she was a Medic? ANd then Head of Decom (yknow where they erase memories. Brain Surgeon hedcanons yo) She’s genuinely a good operative, despite her bias she’s still doing her job. Not to mention her love for girly things. Like.... I love that Nigel makes a comment she owns more rainbow monkeys than Kuki. KUKI? The Slumber episode was great and cute.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Moonbabes aka Rachel/Fanny like cmon its great. Also OT3 cant forget that. I dont think i have anymore from the top of my head. I do have Negative 86 and Eizzil somewhere.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: OT3, thats right it also works just as well platonically (you ship that any way you want anyway). I do have her and Lizzie being friends in my teen story. Kuki for sure! More of them chillin with eachother. Patton, this goes into the ot3 but ill say it separately too. I think theyd be good friends, looking out for Rachel at times (cause uh... rachels anxiety and also they have found her passed out around the moonbase at times). Let them join forces.

My unpopular opinion about this character: 19th century. I get the joke was that he had predjuice about girls and Fanny vice versa and all but I’ll never accept this. Its not even enemies to lovers trope. She decommed him with no regrets. Plus hes from the 19th century. I... dont think she’d be in TND either. Not everyone can be.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.: GKND, MORE RACHEL AND FANNY INTERACTION?? IDK. Funny how we dont have Fanny and Patton interacting in canon but a lot of people collectively thought theyd argue alot. Personally, I dont think i see them doing that very often. In fact I think theyd work together more. Also the parallels between Patton training cadets versus fanny decoming operatives. Nice. Fanny also like... LET HER CALL RACHEL HER FRIEND IN CANON. Rachel called her by her name!!! I dunno yknow just in general? Fanny content, GKND and their decom? She’d have an opinion on that.

favourite thing about them

theres a couple of things, actually! i really like how she could have easily been played off as a total snobby bombshell, but her character was taken in the completely opposite direction -- shes friends with both the adults and the kittens alike, and her devotion to demeter is admirable! i also love the little silly streak that shines in her personality every so often.

another great thing is that ive noticed that shes often played by taller women. the wiki says that her actress isnt really supposed to be any shorter than 5′8″, so the fact that theres a sexy character out there specifically for taller girls (which i know is a sore spot for some) makes my heart warm, yknow?

(i dont know if this is exactly unpopular, but...) bombalurina and rum tum tugger are in an openly sexual relationship, but are romantically exclusive. their interactions in “the rum tum tugger” are all a playful act.
