Alastor actually has a schedule that he keeps to — he eats and sleeps on a regular basis. It's Vox that doesn't keep up with anything in his personal life despite having such a ruthless hold on the inner workings of his empire. He frequently forgets (or forgoes) to eat and sleep, and can survive for several days on nothing but caffeine and breath mints until he finally keels over and sleeps for 13 hours straight.

Vox doesn't really get the concept of food as an "experience". He views it as fuel — you eat the bare minimum just to keep yourself from passing out and then move on with your day. In comparison, Alastor is high-maintenance and has Opinions (with a capital "O") on things like food, wine, clothing, etc.

Vox is actually very bad at casual conversation — he doesn't really know how to interact with people outside of his news anchor/host persona (if you listen to him talking with Velvette and Valentino, his voice lapses between a sort of presenter-type cadence and a more genuine, disgusted muttering beneath his breath/breaking down and shouting out of rage). Vox doesn't really like being around people that much either, and tends to hole himself up in his penthouse condo with his work and avoid the general populous altogether. It's part of the reason why he keeps fumbling Alastor so badly — he's the first person Vox has wanted to communicate with genuinely and equally regardless of how he can benefit him. Alastor is an effortlessly eloquent conversationalist and is less than impressed with Vox's attempts at talking with him in a more low-key way.

1 and 4 for Suzy for the Weirdly Specific Character Questions?

1. What’s the lie your character says most often?

This is actually a hard one because Suzy lies SO much so instead I’m gonna go with a “genre” of lies, that is, lying to her kids.

Most of the time she will just be blunt with them so her expectations of them are more than clear, even at a young age. However, as she had more kids she realized that lying to them is kind of important. It spares their feelings and softens the relationship, it makes them more attached to her when she’s the source of their truth. A good mixture of cold bluntness and warm untruth makes it much easier to lie to them when they’re older.

2. What’s a hobby they used to have that they miss?

I’ve mentioned before that Suzy was trained to sing as a child which is a hobby she does all the time with his children, as she does the chores, to soothe the kids (and Jack hehee it’s cute) to sleep. However, a pursuit I don’t talk about nearly as often is her love for the violin. It’s an elegant instrument and she misses the discipline that practicing it brings, the beautiful music it plays. I’m thinking one year for her birthday Janet crafts one for her from ice and she’s able to fill the halls of the schneeflocke manor with music once more :)

i found this post and i wanted to say some stuff concerning it so on the main blog it goes! @dinahdoeeyes

i remember listening to the original london cast album for the first time and being really surprised at just how mean pearl sounded sometimes when she was meant to be playing the 'main sweetheart' type (at the time i was also staunchly against dinah and greaseball as an endgame couple, and even went as far as to pair off pearl and greaseball as a sort of "vindictive popular high school couple" trope — greasedinah is my favourite ship from this fandom hands-down now, though).

if you want to take the innocent role you can look at it from the pov of pearl being the youngest coach and shes simply copying behaviors shes observed from the older ladies and thinks are correct, but she accidentally takes it too far and comes off as abrasive and even a little cruel, when in reality shes perfectly nice — she just wants to fit in. she balks at greaseball/cb/electra cheating during the race during "c.b." and realises in that moment that her choices and poor judge of character have brought her to this point.

what i do think is kind of fun and interesting is that, if youre taking "lotta locomotion" on its own (especially pearls verse), its indicated that all of coaches are at least somewhat like that and it isnt shameful that they essentially sleep/date around in order to find their ultimate preferable partner (its just that we only see pearl taking this route since, outside of dinah, shes the only important coach character and shes just particularly ambitious and/or indecisive about it — she gets a taste of her own medicine when greaseball and electra both leave her behind for their own gain). it seems as though who ends up with who ends up largely being the ladies choice — an engine can ask to pair up with her, but the coach has final say.

i mentioned this is one of my other more recent posts but lately im starting to notice that i dont want my hobbies to feel like work.

take video games, for example — specifically pokemon and animal crossing new horizons. lately ive realised that the more steps there are between me and an end evolution result (stone evolutions, friendship evolutions, pokemon that are insanely rare, really high level evolutions) the more off putting the whole thing becomes, no matter how pretty the actual monster is. in acnh theres terraforming and villager hunting and flower breeding and item trading and all of that adds up and up and up until it no longer becomes a fun relaxing game for me to play, it becomes a chore.

that being said i feel like theres a level of guilt that comes with it though, that i dont want to hunt or wait for these cool pokemon or spend all this time slowly trading items in animal crossing or time traveling to finish complex projects faster, because other people really seem to enjoy this stuff! video games are so personal and yet with peoples experiences being shared on the internet its hard not to feel like youre doing it "wrong", even though you know deep down that thats silly to even consider.

radiostatic is so, so good and has so much potential but its also tremendously offputting just because its so much. its overwhelming despite its excellence. its so impossibly big and complicated that it sucks all of the energy out of a story/universe and it leaves no focus for anyone else. its exhausting.

alastiel, a rarepair that im absurdly fond of, touches on a lot of the same potential topics that radiostatic does (alastors approach towards physical an emotional intimacy, etc) but it also has the benefit of, at least in my eyes, utilizing the much more mature version of alastor that came from the pilot/comic, therefore allowing those things to not feel like they have to be addressed all at once. radioroach is even less complicated at a glance — its literally just "what if we were both absolute loonies and that was okay?".

i feel like i have to give radiostatic the weight it deserves and that begins to tip over into making fandom and fan content something hard, something i have to work at, rather than something i enjoy.

TL;DR i dont hate valentino but i do have conflicting thoughts about him

lately ive been mulling over my opinion on valentino — im not really sure how im supposed to feel about him. he kind of ends up in the same bucket as stolas does.

i think, from a objective perspective, he does a fine job at playing the role of the villain in angels story (even though that story can be controversial). bad people can be perfectly charming! look at alastor and vox — lucifer and crimson. all of these characters are unquestionably fan favourites.

but — theres something much more real about valentino (and stolas) that results in an unsettling tonal shift in an otherwise very theatrical, goofy, and relatively unbelievable show. valentino traps angel dust in a soul contract and physically assaults him when angel doesnt do as hes expected; stolas ignorantly barters sex for blitzos means of running his business successfully.

characters like vox and alastor are evil, sure, but they make grand, sweeping magical displays of power that are comparable to charming disney villains. they dont hurt anyone that we as the audience are intended to strongly care about (and no, alastor and husks contract/relationship isnt anywhere near the realism that valentino and angel dust have). if vox and alastor are hades and dr facilier, valentino and stolas are claude frollo and mother gothel.

the issue arises i think from a creator/fandom perspective. when you have the creators of the show saying that valentino, a known rapist and abuser, would be the equivalent of bubbles in the instance of the vees being compared to the powerpuff girls, and dumbing down his personality to that of a high school mean girl instead of treating his character (no matter how evil he is) with dignity and respect, then youre starting to walk the wire of questionable.

that being said, horrendously comically awful people do exist in real life (trump is a perfect example of this) so i dont feel like you can go around calling valentino as a whole "unrealistic". valentino may be largely unintelligent but his villainous scenes are given at least some weight — he has the capacity to do serious harm even if he doesnt act like it all the time. i think its disagreeable to a lot of people that a sexual abuser is given personhood in the same way that murderers and capitalists are in other forms of media.
