Of Being a Ladybug part 2

So, Paris is about 6 hours ahead of Metropolis . So if Marinette sent the message at say… 8 pm, and Jagged got it at 9 because he was at dinner, then getting lawyers straightened out and all that ...say Marinette starts school at 10 am, then it would be approximately 4am in Metropolis. It would be a 7 hour flight, meaning she'd leave at noon on Monday, and arrive at 2am on Tuesday. 

The cons of being a reporter. 

TUESDAY 2AM Paris 

Lois was as excited as she was exhausted. Paris! She'd always wanted to go to Paris. As her taxi drove her past the Louvre and she could see the Eiffel tower in the distance, she couldn't help but remember the call she received yesterday. 

"I know it's early, Lois, but I have a job for you in Paris" Bruce said from the other line. 

"I'm listening." 

"The satellites from the Tower have been picking up irregularities. Burning buildings, the Eiffel Tower toppled or completely missing, then the next pass everything is normal. Hal even claims he saw a giant baby on cams once. I've gone over all the pictures of the last year, a couple of weeks ago there… I can't explain it. I'll send you the images and we'll try to find a believable cover story for going in the middle of the school year like this"

"I understand, thank you Bruce. I'll book the earliest flight I can." Burning buildings? The Eiffel tower toppled? Nothing had been said in the news. If something on a grand scale like that were happening, they would already know. 

"Thank you, Lois. I will of course pay for your accommodations while there," Bruce offered. A consolation for sending her around the globe for film effects. 

She barely got a "thank you" out, before he hung up. She flopped back onto the bed, Clark raising an eyebrow at her. Of course he'd heard both sides of the conversation, so he obviously had his own opinion to share. 

"Well? What do you think?" she asked him. If Clark gave it some weight, she might take it more seriously. 

"A video was sent by the Mayor of Paris about a year ago, asking for help because his city was being overrun by stone monsters and their only hope lay with a couple of kids. I watched it and it looked like some cheap special effects and deleted it like the other publicity stunts people pull. Diana was the one to notice the inconsistencies with the Eiffel tower, and she swears she saw a couple kids flying on rooftops. It's why Bruce started investigating. But he has no reason to be in Paris at all, since Wayne Enterprises doesn't have an hq there, and he wants to save that excuse for if there IS any trouble. Anyways, try to enjoy your little vacation while you're there" Clark smiled. 

"... Does Bruce know the mayor called for Justice League intervention?" Lois asked slowly. This… Was… Not… happening. 

"No? I mean, just some publicity stunts, Lois. We get 20 of them a day" Clark dismissed. Lois was beyond words so she got up and started packing, and turned on her civilian phone to call for a flight. Before she could get dialing she got a call incoming. 

"Penny? Is everything okay? WHAT? YES! Of course I do! That's huge! Yes, let me just call my boss…. Oh? Oh wow! Thank you! Yes, I'll see you tonight… Or I guess tomorrow for you…yes. I understand. Thank you" Lois couldn't believe her luck. She grabbed her JL phone and called Bruce. 

"Bruce! I've got a cover! I've been asked by an old college friend to interview her client and a few others on Parisian TV. Yes, totally legit, she just called me… Penny Rolling. Yes, yes Bruce! I will keep my eyes open. Did you know the Mayor tried to call for JL intervention a year ago? No? Clark told me there was a video but thought it was a publicity stunt. Maybe try to find it and give me a heads up… okay… Thank you Bruce. That'll be perfect! I'll get to the bottom of this… Okay, thank you."

Finally done with the update she rushed to call the airline. 

" NOON?!"

Before she could take in the breathtaking view any longer, the cab stopped. Lois paid the fare and stepped out and looked up. It was a beautiful hotel, owned by Mayor Bourgeois. The cabbie was loading her bags onto a trolley with a Bellhop waiting stoically by the doors. Just as Lois went to inquire about Penny, the door opened and out she came. 

"You cut your hair!" Lois exclaimed, giving her friend a hug and a LA Bise. 

"You, my beautiful ginger, are late! Had you arrived a few hours earlier you would have had quite the show!" Penny said with a smile. She'd always been jealous of Lois's hair. 

"It's Paris, Penny. How exciting could it possibly be?" Lois asked jokingly, wondering just what her visit here would truly reveal.

MONDAY 10AM PARIS

Ladybug flew over buildings in the direction of the explosions. She really wished she'd had a chance to see the classroom before leaving to see if she would have to once again go up against Alya. Or Lila. 

Maybe if she was lucky it would be another unfortunate soul altogether. One she hopefully didn't know personally. Because it was starting to really take a toll on Ladybug, every time she came face to face with a friend or loved one. 

Before she was ready she was at the scene. And she was shocked. The Akuma of the day was a barely visible outline of a woman. She had a flowy garment on and only became visible when she touched a person. The person would immediately admit to bad deeds, anything from finishing the ice cream container to more horrible crimes. 

Ladybug watched as a couple hid behind a vehicle to escape the fate, only for the akuma to lift and throw the car, one handed, into another vehicle, creating another explosion. The akuma drifted ghost like towards the couple and became fully corporeal as she touched them, first the man ("I tapped your phone! I hated how much time you spent always going out!" he blurted out) then the woman ("I  can't stand being with you!" she screamed back). Ladybug swallowed. This was not good. A non corporeal being with the strength of ten men and the ability to… Spill secrets? Ladybug wasn't sure, but didn't want to get too close before she had the full story. She went to grab her yo-yo to call Chat, only for him to pop up, baton swinging. 

"What have we here? Another scary movie victim?" Chat asked, drawing all eyes to them. Ladybug wanted to scream. Or toss him off the building. Once! Just. ONCE! 

"I… am Guilty Conscience. That voice that should tell you not to do bad… It Is too quiet in most people's heads. So therefore I shall make you scream your misdeeds to the world. No longer shall there be hiding behind white lies for innocence" the ghost whispered, yet to Ladybug she may as well have screamed. 

"Che, you're out of your league! I have a picture perfect record!" Chat smirked, ever brash and fearless. Without a second thought, he jumped off the building towards the ghostly form. And just as Ladybug predicted, went right through her. She did not become solid upon contact with a human unless she so chose to. Great… 

"Chat! Fall back, we need a plan!" Ladybug called, stepping back from the roof and readying her yo-yo. 

"Just lucky charm her and we can go out for coffee!" Chat yelled back, swinging his baton uselessly through GC. Ladybug shook her head. She was almost 90% sure they'd need more backup. 

"Lucky Charm!" she cried, throwing her yo-yo high. Down fell a teapot. Back up it is, she sighed. 

"Chat! Fall back, I'm going for backup!" she called out again. 

"Awe, but M'lady, I thought I was the only one you needed in your life!" she was sure he thought he sounded charming. She cringed. 

"Not now Chat. I'll be back in a while, keep her from following me but keep your distance. No need to waste your energy for now." 

Had she looked down, or paid more attention to her surroundings, she may have seen Lila hiding in an alley not far from the akuma. She may have noticed her trying to follow her. She may even have taken another route to get where she was going. Later she would regret not being more vigilant.

Gale’s Top 10 Worst episodes of ML

(Now this list is my personal opinion, and since I haven't been so active, might as well make a big list)

I will be making my top 10 best list later)

This list is my personal opinion, and I don't expect everyone to agree with all my picks (some are obviously bad, and some that may have been awful to you might have not been for me. and the reverse. Let me know your personal top 10 worst)

10. Gigatitan

The reason this episode got on the list is mostly because it is completely unnecessary to anything in ML. It was such a dull episode. However, there were two things I did enjoy in the episode. 1. The Girl squad, which I did find funny.

2. I did like that Gorilla will stop being mad as long as Adrien’s okay. 

Aside from that this episode was pretty dull.

9.Malediktator

This one is on the list because it is subpar in a LOT of ways. Chloé’s ‘Redemption’ was pretty much on life support and this did too little too late to make anyone think Chloé was redeemable. The akuma design was lame, Adrien’s attitude (While I do understand why he was upset, had no reason to say no one else should be unhappy) The lesson is more of a slap in the face now with season 3′s ending.

It did have some cool action shots, and Actual cat Chat noir was funny to me.

8. Animaestro

Or as I like to call it, “Thomas’ emotional HJ episode” 

The fight itself was the only somewhat entertaining thing about this episode. (Also Marinette and Kagami’s outfits were cool, but doesn't really save the episode)

It is a textbook case of how ‘Not’ to do a self insert. and how not to do a “Call out the critics” episode. 

Marinette got a lot of flack on this episode, and I think people were too hard on her, she was clearly regretful about he actions and swore not to do it again, besides it was chloé that did the stuff, not Marinette. 

But mainly just the episode was bleh.

7.Stormy weather 2.0

MAN, I HATE CLIPSHOWS.

this episode was a glorified recap, I am not even bothering with an image for this one, because it would just be recycled footage.

Also just drives in the nail that Chloé isn't getting a redemption. So, just more insult to injury.

I guess it does give a little insight on how characters think of each other, but really, it is a pretty weak episode. Aurore deserved better.

6. Antibug

Finally a season 1 episode makes the list.

I am someone that LOVES the evil opposite trope. But the way this episode is done is so... lacking in every sense of the word.

Antibug wasn't even the akuma for Half the episode. How she beats chat noir easily made no sense. Her design was lacking. It felt rushed and the action between Ladybug and Antibug could have been so much better.

I do like the ladynoir in it, but its not a good episode.

5. Copycat

I agree this was a more entertaining episode to watch then most of the episodes below it, but this has a few things wrong with it that I can't look past.

A. HOW OLD IS THEO?! (This is like 30% of my problem with this episode.) Cause potential pedo. I kind of hope @zoe-oneesama​ is right and he is actually Adrien and Marinette age. Or at least Luka Age. Because then I can like his character, Theo wasn't really that bad.

B. Chat noir is at his worst in this episode and doesn't apologize for acting like an absolute possessive prick, which if he did would have probably made this a great episode.

C. (Related to B) Ladybug takes the blame for not showing up. This isn't her fault and I feel like she should know that.

4. Captain Hardrock

This was the episode that made me quit ML for a while.

It was a poorly written and incredibly boring episode.

IT HAS A PIRATE BATTLE IN IT, BUT IT WAS BORING! HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?!

Luka’s intro was so... ehh. Comparing it to Kagami’s would be like a paper tiger to a category 3 hurricane. Kagami’s intro was so much stronger.

I found him so douche-y at the time I first watched this. Now my feelings on the guitarist have softened. But I feel he could have had a much better introduction.

also, Marinette’s character was not written well in this episode. (not that she was awful, but her interactions with Luka felt really off to me in this episode)

3. Miracle Queen (Spoilers below)

I loved Loveater, and seeing Miracle Queen was such a MONUMENTAL letdown.

It had a LOT of expectations to meet and Failed in meeting every single one.

The only thing I Found legit enjoyment out of was the fight with Dragonbug and Snake noir against team evil miraculous.

Fu’s departure was... I didn't care. I honestly could not care at this point.

Like I should have felt sadder, but I felt more bad for Marinette. Fu basically Yeeted his responsibility to her. Marinette thinks all of this is all her fault. Now she is the guardian, is giving up on Adrien, and is pretty much alone, because she is under the impression if her identity is ever known, THE WORLD WILL F***ING END.

So yea, I hate how hard Marinette gets hit.

Maybe if they did One of the things, it wouldn't have been so awful.

The show did give up the love square, now its just fucking love triangles. Whoop-dee f***ing do.

Honestly the worst part is how insufferable certain members of the fandom were when this came out. (you guys know what I am talking about.)

2.  The Chameleon

What? This isn't number 1? I bet you are all thinking. 

The truth is, its a bad episode. Objectively one of the worst written episodes, inspired the most salt, and pretty much set the tone of the salt Fandom last year.

Adrien’s lesson was bad, (which he does learn he was wrong, but damage still done)

Marinette had to deal with so much unnecessary crap.

Everyone had the IQ of goldfish.

The akuma was Lame.

The only funny part was Clam Lila (and that is really the only thing that saved it from being number one)

1. Frozen

This one is my personal least favorite episode.

It had Kagami, Adrien and Marinette at their relative worst in terms of personality.

The only decent character in this that didn't make me want to shoot myself was Luka. (and Plagg, but I actually like plagg a lot so he is always exempt unless stated otherwise)

The ice skating battle was sorta cool but I wish there was more to the ice designs, as well as the fight itself.

I was still not over the lame drama from earlier, that really set the tone for the ending of season 3.

And for that, I really can't forgive.

It established the whole love triangle bs.

It made Chat noir an asshole to Copycat levels of asshollery.

It also was the rise of the anti’s that shipped Lukanette. (Not the ones that ship Lukanette because they like the ship and just want happiness for both of them. Those peeps are chill and have great art)  The ones that want to rag on Adrien and use this ship as some sort of way to punish him, because Idk.

I think I hate what the episode started more then the actual episode itself. But that is the main reason why I put this at number ones.

You Gave Me Faith

Summary: Dan finds himself two months pregnant, and thinks his entire world has ended, especially after the father of his child left him. One day while walking his dog, Quill, Dan meets a stranger named Phil. Dan finds that Phil is just like him.

A/N: This all started when an ask was sent to @phanfictioncatalogue asking for fics about double pregnancy, but we couldn’t find any, so I asked for prompts so that I could write something, and then I came up with this :)

anyways, I’m trying to write more this year, so if you guys have any prompts, then please send them my way so I can have some ideas to write!!! <3

“Quill, come on! You know I can’t go that fast these days,” Dan complains as his dog starts dragging him down the sidewalk. He sighs, and stops on the sidewalk, pulling on his Golden Retriever to stop him. “Okay, let’s take a break. We’ve been walking for ten minutes now.” He takes a deep breath and then he looks down, sighing when he spots his baby bump.

Two months pregnant, and somehow that hasn’t stopped him. 

When he first found out about his surprise pregnancy, Dan thought that his entire world was ending, especially after the father of his baby left him in the dark. His mom convinced him he should at least try. She’s even the one who suggested getting a dog to help him cope with the loneliness, which is how Quill came into his life. Dan absolutely loves this dog to death, and he’s certainly helped Dan get by.

“I’m sorry,”

Dan is shaken out of his thoughts when he hears a stranger's voice. He looks over and smiles shyly. “Hi?”

“I don’t mean to bother you, you seem busy, it’s just…” The man blushes. “Well, your dog is just so cute, and I was just wondering if I could pet him, or her.”

Dan stares at him in awe, and slowly nods. “Uh, yeah. You can pet him. Thanks for asking. Some people just walk up and pet him without my consent. Really appreciate it.”

The man smiles, and then he bends down, holding his hand out to Quill, allowing Quill to sniff him, before he starts petting him. “I love dogs. What’s his name?” He looks up at Dan.

“I can tell you’re a dog person, and we just met. His name is Quill,” Dan answers.

“Quill?” The man questions. “As in… Peter Quill?”

Dan grins. “Yes!” He nods. “Not many people get that. I'm a huge Marvel nerd.”

The man laughs, and stands again. “I am  too. My name is Phil,” he holds his hand out to Dan.

“Dan,” Dan says as he shakes Phil’s hand. “Nice to meet you.”

“Well, I’d love to stay and chat more, Dan, but… unfortunately, I have a meeting to get to-” Phil says, placing his hand on his stomach, and that’s when Dan notices the visible bump Phil has.

“Oh, are you pregnant?” Dan asks, voice full of surprise. He’s never met another male Carrier before, well, none that were from around London. Dan doesn’t know how he hasn’t met this guy before.

Phil smiles at Dan, and nods. “Yes. I’m four months pregnant,”

“Wow. Congratulations,” Dan says. “I’ve never met another male Carrier from around here before.”

“You’re a Carrie toor?” Phil asks, suddenly more interested in Dan.

Dan slowly nods, blushing. “Y- Yeah, I am. I’m two months pregnant,” he says.

“Congratulations to you as well. I… wow. You know, I’m part of this support group for male Carriers. Maybe if you’d like to join us for one of our next meetings-” Phil begins.

“Thanks, but no thanks-” Dan says, shaking his head. “Support groups aren’t for me. That’s why I got this little guy right here-” He bends down and pets Quill on the head.

“If you change your mind-” Phil says as he pulls out a business card out of his jacket and hands it to Dan. “We meet twice a week, but you don’t have to show up both days. Everybody’s really friendly there, and supportive. They really helped me with my depression.”

“I’m not depressed,” Dan says defensively, before wincing, because he knows it’s a lie. Dan is depressed, but he would never admit that out loud. His mother would force him into therapy.

“Never said you were, mate,” Phil chuckles, and then pulls out his phone, checking the time quickly. “Crap. I’ve really got to get going before I’m late. I hope to see you again soon. Really nice meeting you, and you as well Mr. Quill-” He bends down and pets Quill one last time before leaving Dan with nothing but a quick smile, although Dan wishes that they could have talked longer.

Quill whines as Phil walks away, and Dan bends down to pet him. “I know, Quill,” he whispers softly. “But, something tells me that won’t be the last time we see him.”

Dan decides to take Quill back home, as they were both pretty exhausted. Ten minutes isn’t bad, at least, Dan thinks so anyways. He’s been trying to take Quill on a little bit longer walks everyday. It’s exhausting, but his mother thinks that it’ll be good for his health.

“Hey mum, I’m back,” Dan greets when he walks into the house that he shares with his mom, spotting his mom in the kitchen, preparing dinner for the two of them. After Dan was abandoned by his baby’s father, Dan’s mom took him in, knowing it wouldn’t be good for Dan to be alone when he was in such a depressed state. Dan actually doesn't mind living with his mom again. She's a wonderful company, and not even too overbearing. She’s exactly what Dan needs to get through this pregnancy, besides Quill. Dan walks into the kitchen himself, and then he gets started on Quill’s dinner.

“Hey sweetie. How was the walk?” His mom asks, watching Dan carefully.

“It was fine,” Dan replies as he tears open a bag of dog food. “Something interesting happened though.”

“Oh really?” Karen asks. “Want to talk about it?”

Dan sighs softly, before looking up at his mom. “Well,” he begins. “He wanted to pet Quill. Was really sweet about it and everything. Then I found out that he was a male Carrier, like me. His name’s Phil.”

“Dan, that’s wonderful! I hope you got his number?” Karen asks hopefully.

“I didn’t get his number,” and Karen rolls her eyes at Dan’s reply, muttering an ‘honestly’ under her breath. “But, I did happen to get a business card from him about a support group for male Carriers.”

Karen perks up at that, turning to look at Dan. “That’s interesting. What are your thoughts on that?”

“Dunno,” Dan admits. “I might think about it. Seems pretty legit. You know how I feel about therapy. But, maybe this will be different. Good. I mean, I’ll get to meet other Carriers like me. Phil seems nice.”

“Well, I’m not going to tell you what to do, because I know you don’t like that. You’re a grown man who can make his own decisions. But, I do think that you should think about going. It might be good for you,” Karen agrees with Dan. “You don’t have a lot of friends-”

“Whoa,” Dan begins as he holds up his hand.

Karen glares at him playfully. “You don’t have a lot of friends who are Carriers,” she finishes.

“I know,” Dan mumbles. “I promise I’ll at least think about it.” Quill whines as he stands behind Dan, wagging his tail excitedly, causing Dan to laugh. “Alright, boy. I’m coming. Gosh. So rude and impatient.” He puts Quill’s dog food in a bowl and then places it down on the floor where Quill eats. “There you go.” Dan chuckles when Quill immediately starts eating, and then he looks over at his mom and frowns when he sees her staring at him with raised eyebrows. “What? Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Nothing,” Karen chuckles, going back to chopping vegetables. “It’s just funny to me that two months ago you were so against the idea of having a dog, and now look at you. Quill’s your best friend.”

“Well, he is,” Dan agrees, nodding. “He’s been there for me like no one else has been. Besides you.”

“I just think it’s ridiculous that you named him after a Marvel character. Honestly,” Karen scoffs.

“Don’t talk shit about my favorite Marvel movie,” Dan warns playfully, pointing a finger at his mom.

Karen laughs, and shakes her head. “Don’t point that finger at me, boy. Go watch TV or something, while I finish making dinner. It’ll be a little bit longer.”

Dan smiles, and then he turns, and heads out of the kitchen.

Over the next two weeks, Dan doesn’t stop thinking about the male Carrier he met on his walk with Quill.

It’s been awhile since Dan’s met another male Carrier, and this was the first time that he’s met someone like him in his home. Phil seemed really nice and genuine when he was talking to Dan.

How could Dan pass up an opportunity to see Phil again?

The support group meets on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 5pm, so when the next Saturday rolls around, Dan decides to dress in some nice clothes and heads to the place listed on the business card Phil gave.

Dan sighs as he stands in front of the building, glancing down at the business card in his hands, debating on whether or not he should actually walk in and take part in this support group.

“Fuck,” Dan curses out loud. He turns back around and gasps when he sees Phil walking up to him.

“Dan?” Phil asks, walking up to Dan. “Wow. I didn’t think that you’d actually show up. Are you staying?”

“I-” Dan hesitates, biting his lip. “I don’t know. I’m not really interested in this kind of stuff. Therapy… and support groups. Honestly… I only came because I wanted to see you again. Uh, Quill misses you.”

Phil laughs, and Dan’s heart swells at the sound. “Quill was so sweet. You know, sometimes we have days where members are allowed to bring their pets,” he says.

“What? Is that true?” Dan asks, raising his eyebrows.

“Of course. Would I lie to you? Come on, why don’t you come inside? You honestly don’t have to stay if you feel uncomfortable,” Phil assures him. “But, I assure you that everyone here is so lovely. This is meant to be a safe place for people like us, you know? There aren’t many of those around.”

Dan scoffs. “Tell me about it,” he mumbles. Ever since it became known men could in fact get pregnant, there has been a lot of hatred and unacceptance towards male Carriers. Dan’s even experienced this awful hate himself after announcing to his “friends” and family that he was a Carrier.

“Come on,” Phil urges, gently grabbing Dan’s hand and leading him into the building. “You’ll love Garrett, he’s hilarious. Always knows how to lighten the mood when it gets tense during meetings.”

“Does it… usually get tense during meetings?” Dan asks nervously.

“Only sometimes, when we get deep and tell personal stories. You won’t have to do that straight away, don’t worry. You can relax again,” Phil chuckles when he sees Dan tensing up.

“Sorry,” Dan mumbles as his cheeks turn a bright pink.

“It’s okay. You have every right to be nervous. So,” Phil turns and starts walking backwards, leading Dan into a large room, where a couple people are already inside. “Here’s where we have our meetings. There’s usually fifteen people at every meeting. It’s quite small, but we’re trying to make this place bigger. So, if you know of anyone who would be interested…”

“I don’t know any other male Carriers,” Dan tells him. “But, I’ll keep an eye out for you.”

Phil grins that adorable grin again that makes Dan’s heart swell. Honestly, how could one man be filled with so much energy and sunshine? Dan can’t imagine ever being like that.

“Phil, you’ve brought a friend with you…?”

Phil looks over and smiles as another man walks up to them. “Hey Gare,” he greets, hugging the man. “Uh, yeah…” He turns to look at Dan. “This is Dan. We just met recently. He’s a male Carrier.”

“Dan, wonderful to meet you. My name’s Garrett,” the man greets, shaking Dan’s hand.

“Nice to meet you too. Phil’s told me all about you,” Dan says.

“Whatever he’d told you about me, it’s all a lie,” Garrett whispers.

Dan laughs. “Don’t worry, all good things,” he says.

“Oh,” Garrett smiles. “Well, then. Welcome aboard, Dan. We’re still waiting for people to show up, so make yourself comfortable. We have food and drinks. Of course, no alcohol. Enjoy!”

Phil chuckles as he watches Garrett walk over to some of the other men. “See? Told you. He’s an interesting character. I have no idea how Andrew puts up with him sometimes. Uh, Andrew is his husband. They run the group together. I’m sure you’ll see Andrew later tonight if you stay.”

Dan pauses, and thinks for a moment, before looking over at Phil. “I think I will stay,” he says.

Phil smiles. “Great! I know you were hesitant, but I promise you’ll have a great time,” he assures Dan.

Dan continues going to the group meetings, which surprises both himself and his mom. He finds himself enjoying the company of the other male Carriers, and has become friends with quite a few of them. They’ve even invited him to join their group chat on Whatsapp. Of course, Dan was happy to join this group chat. He’s never had such a tight group of friends before.

Then, there’s Phil. Dan talks to Phil everyday, and has grown even closer to him since he started joining the group meetings. They’ve bonded over what they have in common, after discovering that they did have quite a few things in common such as favorite movies and TV shows, and even music.

Dan finds himself falling in love with Phil the more he talks to him, and he’s scared.

Dan has trust issues after what happened with his baby daddy. He doesn’t want to lose Phil too.

One night, Dan wakes up to pain. He’s just hit the nine month mark in his pregnancy, but he thought that he would have a few more weeks to prepare for before going into labor.

“Fuck!” Dan cries, pushing himself up and grabbing a hold of his large bump. “Come on. Really? It’s three o’clock in the fucking morning. You couldn’t have waited? Fuck me.”

“Dan?”

Dan looks up with wide eyes and sees his mom running into his bedroom, panicked. “Oh, hey mum. Sorry to wake you, but it appears that my child has decided to make her grand entrance.”

“What?” Karen squeaks. “She’s not supposed to come for another couple weeks!”

“I don’t decide when she comes, she does!” Dan shouts. “Fuck. We have to go!”

“Thank God we already have the bag packed,” Karen mutters, before rushing over to Dan. “And I’m glad we decided to move your bedroom downstairs. This would have been terrible getting you down the stairs.”

“Wow, mum. Thanks,” Dan grumbles, allowing his mom to help him out of his bed.

Karen carefully helps guide Dan through the house, to the front door. She quickly hands Dan his shoes. “Don’t worry about putting those on. Just hold onto them. I’ll go grab your bag,” she tells him, rushing into the living room to pack the baby bag for the hospital.

Dan pulls out his phone while waiting, going onto the male Carriers group chat and typing in all caps ‘WAKE UP FUCKERS, I’M GOING INTO LABOR’

Dan unfortunately doesn’t have time to reply to Marcus’s date comment, his mother quickly claiming that giving birth to his daughter is more important than whatever is going on in a group chat.

Phil is not surprisingly the first one to arrive at the hospital, luckily getting there before Dan gives birth.

“How are you feeling?” Phil whispers, gently running his fingers through Dan’s hair.

Dan sighs, looking up at Phil with tired eyes. “I- I don’t think I can do this, Phil,” he whispers.

“Oh, which part? Giving birth? Or being a parent? Because the answer is yes you can to both of those,” Phil tells him. “I know it’s scary. I’ve been there. But, look at me. I got through.”

“You almost fucking bit that nurses head off during Amelia’s birth,” Dan reminds him.

“Okay, let’s not bring that up,” Phil grumbles.

Dan snorts, and then he shakes his head. “I’m scared, Phil. Like, really fucking scared,” he admits, taking a shaky breath. “I don’t know if I can do this alone. I don’t know the first thing about raising a kid.’

“Dan, you’re going to be fine,” Phil tries to assure him. “Just remember everything we learned in those classes we took for months. Besides, you’re not alone. Your mum is there for you. I’m here for you, okay? I’m always going to be there for you. I mean, you’re kind of stuck with me forever now.” He smiles as he reaches down and gently grabs Dan’s hand, squeezing it tightly.

Dan smiles, unable to stop his cheeks from turning a bright shade of pink. “Gee, how’d I get so lucky?”

Phil rolls his eyes fondly. “Just think, our kids will get to grow up together. They’re going to be BFF’s. That’ll be nice, won’t it? By the way, did you come up with a name yet?”

“I think I’m going to go with Faith,” Dan tells him.

“That’s beautiful. How did you come up with Faith?” Phil asks softly.

“You’re the reason that I’m even still here right now. You had faith in me. Mum had faith in me,” Dan says. “I mean, it only makes perfect sense that I name her Faith.”

Phil smiles, and leans down to peck Dan on the lips. “I think Faith is a lovely name,”

“Hey, do you think the others will ever figure out that we’ve been dating for like, a month now?” Dan asks.

Phil laughs loudly, and shakes his head. “Honestly, I have no idea, babe, but it’s absolutely hilarious watching them try to get us together. They have no idea,”

“She’s absolutely beautiful, Dan!” Garrett shouts quietly as he stares at the baby in his arms in awe. “You’ve done a wonderful job. We’re so fucking proud of y- ow!”

“Don’t swear, there’s a fucking baby in the room. Idiot,” Andrew hisses, glaring at his husband.

Dan chuckles softly as he watches the pair, leaning his head back against the pillow, exhaustion finally coming over him. He’s just spent twelve hours in labor, but he’s happy. Seeing his newborn daughter, happy and healthy, is worth it. He’s never been happier than in this moment.

“Mr. Howell, you have a visitor-”

Dan instantly lifts his head from his pillow. “Who else could possibly want to see-?” He doesn’t get to finish his sentence, because he’s too stunned when he sees who walks through the door. “A- Aaron?”

“Hey, babe,” the man greets. “Couldn’t miss the birth, could I?”

“What?” Andrew shouts, glaring at the man. “Oh hell no. You have no right to be in this room!” He starts walking forward, but Phil quickly stops him, grabbing him and pulling him back. “I’ve got it, Andrew.” Phil storms over to Aaron, the man who broke his boyfriend’s heart and left him in the dark when he needed him the most. He’s heard horrid stories about this man for months. “I don’t know who you think you are-”

“I think I’m the father of that child,” Aaron snaps.

Phil punches Aaron straight in the face, shocking everyone in the room. “You’re a piece of shit, is what you are. You ever step foot near Dan or that little girl ever again, I swear you’ll regret it,” he threatens. “Now I think you should leave, because there are four other men in here who would love to throw punches at the man who hurt our friend. Scram,” Phil smirks as he watches Aaron scurry away. He turns around and blinks a few times when he sees everyone staring at him in shock. “What? He had that coming, and no one hurts my boyfriend and gets away with it.”

It’s silent for a moment.

“Aha! I fucking knew it! You two are together!” Marcus exclaims, throwing his arms up in victory.

“Language!” The other four men shout simultaneously.

“Mum, I think we better start working on that swear jar,” Dan comments, looking over at his mom.

“Don’t worry, sweetie. I’m already on it,” Karen says, earning laughs from everyone in the room.

Bucky's new neighbor was famous. And gorgeous. And newly liberated from under like 12 feet of ice. Even in Stark Tower, that was something else; it wasn't every day that a celebrity moved in down the hall. Not that they didn't try.

Stark Tower was a lot of things, depending on who you asked--eyesore, icon, a symbol of Tony Stark’s impressive...ego--but its popularity as a landing spot for the rich, famous, and reclusive had become a given. Maybe it shouldn’t have surprise Bucky, then, that Captain America, icon of another era and the most famous man on the planet, has shacked up on its next-to-last floor, taking refuge from his fans, from the curious behind five layers of security that Tony himself designed. Especially since Tony had been chomping at the bit to get a good look at the star-spangled guy ever since they first flashed his mug on the news.

He tried to play it off as nonchalant, though, the whole my childhood idol now lives in my personal building thing--which to Bucky was the biggest red flag.

“I made a call to DoD,” Tony said with a shrug, “and they poked somebody at SHIELD. I mean, it was just sitting there open. It was the least I could do.”

“Uh huh.”

“Buck, the guy’s been in the permafrost for longer than you’ve been alive; hell, than I’ve been alive. And I’m ancient.” He ran a hand through his hair and made a face. “See? Look at all these goddamn gray hairs.”

Bucky snorted and flipped onto his side, leaned up to kiss the soft scratch of Tony’s face. “Yeah, you’re a real grandpa now, Tone. Jesus. You might as well get in your coffin now.”

“Hey, let’s see how you feel when you’re almost 50, kid,” Tony grumbled. Bucky could feel him fighting a smile. “Not all of us are still young and gorgeous.”

“He is.”

“Who?”

“The guy you just installed down the hall.”

He almost missed it, the way Tony shivered. Almost. “I didn’t install him," Tony protested. "I made a kind and generous offer which SHIELD, in a unique moment of wisdom, chose to accept.”

Bucky spread a hand over Tony’s chest, ran his fingers through the dark hair and silver. “Don’t try change the subject.”

“What subject?”

“Oh, you know.” He nuzzled Tony’s ear. “That you think Captain America is gorgeous.”

He felt Tony’s heart legit skip a beat. “Did I say that? I was listening to me. And I didn't."

“Mmm, not in so many words,” Bucky said. He licked at Tony’s jaw, bit, and let his hand trickle down Tony’s chest, over his stomach, towards the warm, interested swell of his cock. “But lucky for you, Stark, I can read you like a book.”

“It’s ok,” he said later, when he was pressed inside Tony again, when Tony was a bow underneath him, his hips up so high that Bucky’s thrusts were shallow, the fat heat of his cock tucked in deep.

“What?” Tony panted. Shit, Bucky thought, he was beautiful like this; sweating and strung-out, his fist closed around his dick and right on the edge, fucking dying to come. “What?”

He bent down, whispered: “It’s ok if you’re thinking about Captain America right now. Your boy down the hall.”

“He’s not my boy,” Tony said in the least convincing way ever.

“Isn’t he?” Bucky nipped at Tony’s chin. “You moved him in just like you did me, daddy.”

“Buck--”

“You put him someplace where you’d always know where he was. Where you could keep an eye on him. Where you could take care of him, just like you do me.”

Tony wound a hand in Bucky’s hair, his fist stuttering now, his hips desperate. “Jesus, baby, no. It’s not like that.”

“What, he’s not here for you to play with? Is that it? He’s not here for you to fuck?”

A moan, one that Bucky felt in his bones. “No.”

Bucky slammed in hard, senseless. Now he was the one panting. “But you wish he was, don’t you? Hmmm? You wish you could go over there and ask for it, like you do with me. I know you do. Say it.”

Tony whimpered. Inside he went tight as a vise.

“Say it! You’re thinking about him, aren’t you, daddy? About how good it’d feel if he fucked you like this.”

There was a roar, the sound of his own heart, pounding, and then Tony was fluttering around him and there was hot wet between them and Bucky lost himself in the picture of Mr. Aw Shucks himself, Steve fucking Rogers, holding Tony down in this bed and fucking him to kingdom come. God, the man was gorgeous, that perfect smooth face, that hair, those eyes that stared straight into the camera on television but always cut away shy in the hall. Never mind how old he was, how lost he looked; he was here now, back in the land of the living, and in that moment, balls deep in his sugar daddy, Bucky was damn sure he knew a way to make the man feel right at home.

“You know that’s not why he’s here,” Tony said when the world stopped spinning, when they were clean and Bucky was tucked fast against his back.

“I know.” Bucky kissed the damp curve of his neck.

Tony reached back and stroked Bucky’s thigh. “And just to clarify, just so we’re all clear: you’re not a sex toy to me, baby. That’s not why I asked you to move in here.”

Bucky chuckled. “Mmm, it kind of was at the beginning. You weren't into my paintings that much. Come on. Be fair.”

“Maybe at the beginning, yeah.” Soft nails in his skin. “There were some selfish reasons. But not now.”

Bucky tucked his face against the top of Tony’s spine. Let himself feel that warm wave of emotion that somehow he'd let Tony stoke in him but that he couldn't let himself say out loud. Not yet. “Yeah, Tony," he murmured. "I know."

He was almost asleep when Tony said it. Almost. Not quite. “Still,” Tony said, “you know what? It wouldn’t hurt to invite the guy over for dinner and cocktails. Some get-to-know-you conversation. Some well meaning 21st century chit-chat, etc. That’d be the neighborly thing to do, don’t you think?”

“Yeah,” Bucky said, halfway to dreamy. “We should do that.”

Younger Season 6 Official Trailer warm-up ramble

Ok, I have had every intention of writing a bit of a ramble about the Younger season 6 official trailer since it was released 3 weeks ago and now here we are, one week out from the premiere (how has the time gone so quickly?? But also, I have re-watched the entire series four times since last season ended and started an Instagram account solely dedicated to the show to get me through the hiatus so it has also been FOREVER...also I may possibly need to find some other hobbies (she says as she writes an essay about a promo trailer)...) So I thought I’d better dust off the ol’ over-analysing part of my brain in preparation for the new season because it has been a while since I’ve rambled or reviewed.

Frankly, there is so much to take in in that 2 mins of gloriousness that this is guaranteed to be incoherent at least some of the time, so let’s just start with the beginning and that moment on the brownstone stoop when Charles is telling Liza he has had feelings for her for 16 years and seriously, straight out of the gate, I’m not coping. I mean, I know in my brain that Charles and Liza are now a couple but seeing it, actually SEEING them standing there in broad daylight being all couply and flirty, my feelings were not ready. I am also not ready for the moment I have been waiting for with an absurd amount of anticipation, the Maggie/Charles meeting. Yet here is a glimpse, them sitting all comfy and barefoot on the couch just chatting away, Maggie giving him the bff once-over as appropriately ominous music provides the required effect of DRAH-MAH. I can’t wait to see that scene properly, I just have such high hopes for a Maggie/Charles friendship and I will be waving that flag this whole season.

Through the rest of the Maggie voice-over part of the trailer we get some Amato wisdom about two people who have been through a lot being perfect for each other or dragging each other down like anchors but honestly, at this point I’m finding it hard to concentrate because we have some ‘man coming up behind woman as she’s getting ready for work’ trope in play, which is very distracting for a number of reasons. And then there’s the Liza casually telling Charles she loves him thrown in and EXCUSE ME, for this I was 0% prepared (as was Liza it seems) and 26 seconds in, my deceased status is not boding well for actually making it to the June 12 premiere.

We also get confirmation that everyone at work finds out about Liza and Charles. I am HERE for the ‘it’s ME’ moment because who doesn’t love an open plan office workplace affair reveal (p.s. who ARE all those staff in the office? Where have they been the past 5 seasons? Do they know where Josh’s friends are?)? I’m loving the fancy looking event, this show rocks the glam and Diana, Enzo, Charles, Liza in a room together, seeing them all out and plus-1ing it, I want it all. 

I too want to hear about the regime change Redmond, thank you for asking and this Quinn situation looks every type of intense and I cannot wait! I just LOVE that they’ve made her book suck. The editing of the music to coincide with Quinn’s table taps in the restaurant is just too much, and honestly, the ‘guess who wrote a masterpiece, it will be our first release’ chant, that random lady joining in, Liza asking what’s happening = pure 24 carat tv gold. 

The Kelsey/Zane situation seems like it’ll continue to play out in season 6 and I hope we keep getting to see more sides to Zane because I felt like I was finally beginning to get a more filled out version of the character in season 5. Lauren continues to be Lauren it seems and that is exactly as it should be because she is perfect and I hope we see her do Heller good this season with all that ambition and drive she has.

The big cliffhanger from last season, the Josh/Clare baby ‘who’s the father’ scenario is still front and centre and look, I said it last season and I’ll say it again, I just cannot see why they would bring pregnant Clare back if the baby wasn’t Josh’s. It would be so unbelievably awful to Josh’s character, who just wants to love so wholly and is a refreshing representation of a young guy openly yearning to be a father, that I just can’t imagine the writers of this show going the whole ‘he thinks it’s his but then it isn’t’ route. And after the somewhat stagnant storyline for Josh’s character last season, I would love to see this character have the happiness he deserves and to develop as a stand-alone character whose purpose and development isn’t tied solely to him wishing he was with Liza. I big L LOVE Josh’s friendship with Maggie so I’m happy seeing him chatting to Liza and Maggie about what he should do. 

Which brings me to the scene I have joked about in the past but never thought I’d actually see and that is Charles and Josh laughing together (I’m assuming alcohol is involved) and I tell you, I want that image printed onto canvas and hung on my wall. I mean look, the writers of this show are smart and also, Josh and Charles have to at least get along civilly because otherwise the story is stuck. If Josh doesn’t want to engage with Charles or remains bitter towards him, then Liza is put into a really difficult position, as she would be if Charles took issue with her being friends with Josh or if he didn’t want anything to do with him. The show can’t move forward properly with that kind of set up IMO so I can’t believe that I’m now saying this and it could be a possibility (because I wrote about it as a far-fetched wish at one point), but I would love to see Charles and Josh strike up a friendship and I can actually imagine them chatting about fatherhood and there being a respect there for the fact they both care about Liza. I have no idea of the context of that laughing scene but I’m 99% sure that I will be playing it on a loop after it’s aired.

Ok, before we wrap things up (and lawd knows we need to, I mean, all these words from the trailer, heaven help us once the episodes start again!) there is an axe-throwing, police line up Diana and Kelsey situation that I am going to need much time to absorb once I see it in full but I already know that it’s going to be everything and nothing I expect *praise hands* 

Speaking of scenes that are everything and nothing I knew I wanted, whatever the dance sequence is with Liza in the white dress twirling into a very dapper Charles, I can only assume it’s some kind of dream/hallucination type thing (unless they somehow get roped into a dance competition somewhere??...will reserve my theories and predictions for another day) I am legit so excited to see it because it looks like nothing we’ve ever seen on this show before and after last season’s Cabaret gem, I’m all for these delightful nuggets and love that Younger continues to find new ways to surprise us 6 seasons in.

I think the big emphasis of the ‘you are running my ideas past Charles’/’are you questioning my loyalty?’ indicates some workplace tension between Liza and Kelsey and that Liza trying to balance her relationship with Charles and Kelsey is going to be a real challenge. Not to mention that ominous end to the trailer in which the music cuts out and we hear Charles say ‘I left my company to be with you’ *dun-dun-dunnnn*. My hope is that we see Liza continue to be the strong manuscript dropping boss woman from season 5 and to tell Charles that she never asked him to do that. I mean, I’m sure there’s a whole lot more to the convo, but where would the drama be in that?

As always, Younger have managed to cut together a premium trailer with the appropriate amounts of intrigue, suspense, misdirection and general excellence we have come to love and expect.  

So buckle in and get ready, the countdown has begun. Bring on Season 6!

I am a selfish person. Long incoherent rambling time.

There’s no way to get this out in a well written thing without taking fucking forever. 

But it’s something that bothers me about myself. Actually, I just wrote a thing in a Discord chat, and I’m basically gonna copy-paste the damn thing because I don’t want to rewrite the whole thing. I’ll add a bit more on than the initial thing though. 

I usually don't vent, but I'm just gonna do a small one because I feel like mentioning it to someone. A friend person I made recently is on the spectrum like me and around the same age, and she's nice and all, but I have the same problem with her that I've noticed I have with some other people, and it makes me feel awful and also annoys the fuck outta me. Her drawing style is pretty basic, and I'm happy to see people get excited about their characters but her characters aren't technically interesting, and she messages a lot and recently I did say "hey listen I'm not gonna reply to every message" because I like to be upfront about that shit just so people know... but anyway, it's hard to describe, but she falls into like a specific type of person that I can relate to and still have love for but I find myself wanting to avoid and I can't actually grow off of them. 

Like... it's awful because it reminds me of when I was like ages 13-15 and actually learning social things that other people already knew just because of me lacking friendship experience and only just having made artist friends, and I cringe at my past self but understand it at the same time, and I have to be understanding towards people because I understand what it's like to be there, and I always want to be the person I needed when I was younger. But... I mean... is it selfish to pick and choose who I "like" based on standards like... "experience" and "skills"? I mean, I often haven't been brave enough to interact with "cool" people anyway, but... fuck, I wiiish that I couuuld be liike the coool, kidsss, like the coool kiiiids.

I wonder if some of my feelings relate all the way back to elementary school, I was often paired with this one autistic girl, who I didn't have anything against (though tbh she did have some gross habits and she was hard to talk to at a young age), she and I were always the slowest in PE, always the quiet lonely kids, always the kinda pudgy and awkward girls, and I guess I felt myself pushing away from her not because I didn't like her but because of my strong sense of wanting my own identity and didn't want to always be stuck with her "just 'cuz" she was the only partner who was left over when other kids made partners.

Something that I also wonder is, well, I have an older sibling on the spectrum, but diagnosed early. I was diagnosed at 18. My parents have always tried to be fair as far as making sure we both get the attention we needed, but still, I was pretty much the older sibling because for much of our childhoods my sister and I did everything together, and I was very protective of her. The only reason I have ever punched anyone was because someone stole her glasses and I punched the girl to get them back after trying to politely reason didn’t work. We were so close, but somewhere around puberty I started breaking off from her, I became more and more hungry for my own identity, and our interests and activities grew apart as well. At this point in my life, I don’t really chat with my sister much, or do a ton of sisterly activities with her, and I think I basically avoid her because I don’t want to get mad at her for stupid little pet peevey reasons. I admit, there’s some of me that resents that I’ve had to make sacrifices because of her, I could never hum or sing because of her sound sensitivity, and nowadays sometimes I have to be the one to receive a text to relay a message to my sister because she often either doesn’t notice texts, or doesn’t have her phone on at all. I remember in 2016 in the past, it was around the peak of a shitty time in my life, a school staff member came up and asked how my sister was doing and what she was doing. I was salty and grumpy, and basically said “I don’t know” and “I don’t really care” because I’m not her damn babysitter, and if it’s SO important to ya, lady, you can probably just email her. Though, oh yeah, my sis hadn’t always checked her emails either. 

Look, I’m not gonna act like I don’t have my problematic quirks. I do take out garbage and vacuum, but I avoid problems even if I remember there’s something I’m supposed to do, and I procrastinate. It’s also very easy for me to forget or ignore something unless it’s right under my nose, but I admit, often it’s just me acting out of avoidance. 

Something that I think I’ve developed is... I have a huge want to love and be loved in return, I want to take care of people and feel like I matter to someone, but on the other hand besides my mom and a few adults rocking pulling me through life I’ve kinda picked up on behaviors of “Other people have problems. They gotta be taken care of. I should help. I am lazy and not all that troubled anyway, so I don’t need to share my problems with others.” ... I want to take care of others and be a good listener, but I resent it at the same time. I resent that while I’m out trying to take care of people, I don’t feel like I can be vulnerable and let someone take care of me. Because I also don’t want to let myself be vulnerable and rely on someone enough so that if I made a “friend” and lost them that I’d be legit hurt. 

I’m left with even more weird feelings about myself, remembering and considering things I know about my own family members now that I didn’t know the same about when I was young, like my mom, who I credit as being the most important person in my life, she’s the oldest of 5. She was really another parent. Look, I don’t care how close your family is, or how loving they are, when ya got a big family, the oldest child becomes another parent. And they lived in Saudi Arabia for a while, where at one point the family got in a bad car accident and my gramma was wheelchair bound and immobile, and though my mom lost use of one of her arms for a while she took up the brunt of a lot the taking-care-of-people work. She’s badass, but so many responsible people, as much as suffering builds character, there’s a lot that so many people like this shouldn’t of had to do. My aunt Santos (partner of one of my aunts) was the “tough” child... sure, her parents can praise her for never having to give her help, but it doesn’t matter how “normal” or how “capable” you are, everyone should be able to feel like they can be vulnerable and be taken care of sometimes. Something I’ve come to try and remember a lot is you never know what pain people are actually going through, so while I do want to take care of myself, I always ask my mom when she comes home how her day was. She’s mentioned to me in the past that as a parent there’s the dilemma of “do I show I’m troubled so my child knows I’m human and it’s okay to be upset, or do I hide my troubles for the sake of their comfort?” ... but now that I’m older, I assume this gave a lot more leeway for me to be a listener. She still takes care of me way more than I take care of her, but I do things with her and listen to her in ways that my sister doesn’t necessarily do automatically. 

I guess back to more of the original subject, I’ve actually had a friend for many years now, or at least I’ve certainly known them for many years and we became friendly a little later, she isn’t diagnosed with autism, but she still fits in the category of “nice people who I sometimes want to avoid for some reason”. It’s awful, this person has great respect for me, and we even made a couple OCs together, but I’ve had times sitting here in my chair wondering “how do I respond to this?” or “Should I feel bad I’m not as excited about this one thingy as she is?” and “Aw man I wanna talk to someone. No, not you right now. I’m being a choosing beggar.” like who the fuck do I think I am to not be loving on this person who only holds me in the highest of regards?? 

But here’s the thing I guess. No matter what, there are a few important things in friendships, or really any relationship. Communication, and mutual enjoyment. It doesn’t have to be the choice fault of one or both people that something doesn’t like up, often people just don’t line up. I mean, lots of romantic relationships end not because people hate each other but because two perfectly decent people feel hungry for something else. As long as I treat people with basic human respect, I can’t be too hard on myself can I? There’s so so many people I could choose to have as the few I have regular conversations with at a time, but I tend to fall into routines, and there’s only so much time in the day, so this impacts my social capabilities a lot. I can only talk to people how I want to talk to people on my own time. I wish I could hear everyone’s stories and carry a small piece of them around with me all the time, but it’s tiring as fuck, man. 

I want to be around people who inspire me so badly I am thrown into euphoria, the rare euphoria I only get when I have a friendly interaction with someone I didn’t think would have the time or interest to notice me. I technically have really good reading, writing, and drawing skills, but I need to push myself, I need people to bounce off of so I feel motivated to impress and not be lazy. I’m constantly starved for that stimulation and positive reinforcement. 

I’ll end this here I suppose.

Dan sat in front of the makeup mirror in the character dressing room, scrolling mindlessly through his phone, too tired to process what he was reading, and occasionally sipping from one of the two coffees on the counter to keep himself from falling out of his chair in a dead sleep.

It was too damn early in the morning- the sun hadn’t even come out yet- but at least caffeine would get him going. Mostly.

Other handlers and characters were scattered throughout the room, putting on or helping to put on costumes. They were too busy to chat with Dan, not that he wanted company anyway. He was content to sit alone in the corner and wait for Phil to arrive.

Phil was an actor who was “friends with” Prince Eric, as the Disney cast members were required to call it (they had to preserve the magic; no child would want to come to Disney if they knew there was a human living inside Mickey Mouse), and Dan was completely enamored with him.

This was their fourth month working together as a handler-actor pair, and they had long since become friends. During breaks, they would chatter away about their many common interests until Dan remembered Phil had to save his voice for talking to the kids, and then Dan would gladly carry the whole conversation.

Their interactions gradually got flirtier and flirtier, and Dan often went home excited for work with Phil the next day.

This morning, however, Dan had gotten to work much earlier than he had anticipated and now he was bored, tired, and a little anxious. Phil would be there soon, of course, but Dan’s brain liked to mess with him.

What if today is the day the ever-dependable Phil Lester is finally late? He really needs to be here, though. I have to talk to him. Maybe he somehow knows and is trying to make me extra nervous. That’s legit, right?

But Dan’s worry was pointless, as, true to form, Phil arrived right on time- 6:30am on the dot.

 “Hey, Dan,” Phil said as he walked into the room.

Dan looked up from his phone and smiled. Phil looked as cheery as ever, which always surprised Dan. Who could be that happy so early in the morning? Luckily, his attitude was contagious, so Dan couldn’t help but feel his nerves melt away and turn into a tired excitement for a new day right along with Phil.

“Hey, Prince. Ready for another day of bringing joy to small children?”

“Of course!” Phil chuckled. “I see you have my costume all ready for me already.” He quirked a questioning eyebrow at Dan. “You always make me get it myself. What’s up with today?”

Prince Eric’s blue slacks, yellow sash, royal jacket, and shiny black boots sat out on the chair next to Dan’s. Phil walked over and toed his own tennis shoes off.

“What, can’t I just be a helpful handler for once?” Dan asked incredulously. When Phil raised his eyebrows skeptically, Dan continued, “Fine, fine, I got here early and was bored while waiting for you to show up.”

Dan stood up, sliding his phone into the front pocket of his blue shorts, then walked over to Phil.

“Need any help?” he asked, watching as Phil took everything out of his pockets.

“Not just yet, but you know I always need someone to do the sash and zipper for me.”

Phil slipped his pants off and pulled up the costume pants, holding out the sash for Dan to help.

Dan took one end of the sash, then wrapped his arms around Phil’s waist to grab the other end of it and tie it. He was so tired that his hands fumbled the fabric a few times, but he hoped Phil didn’t think too much of it.

Don’t think about how you’re basically hugging him right now, or how you can feel how toned his stomach is when you brush against it, or how close your face is to his, or how you can literally feel his breath on your face, Dan thought. He pointedly kept his eyes down, focusing intently on tying the sash and keeping his expression neutral.

Once Dan had stepped back, Phil took off his t-shirt and slipped the white decorative jacket over his shoulders and let Dan zip up the front of the jacket and button the flap to hide the zipper.

“Do I look princely yet?” Phil giggled, carefully sitting down to put on his boots.

“Of course, my liege,” Dan joked with a mock bow. He leaned his butt against the counter, crossing his arms over his chest and turning his head to look at Phil.

“So, someone’s early today. You’re literally always late,” Phil wondered after a beat of silence. “What gives?”

Dan blushed and spluttered. “What? I am not always late!” he exclaimed, stalling for time as he thought of a good excuse.

Phil shot him a look that clearly said, Yeah, right, and Donald Trump is marrying the Queen of England.

“Okay, Mr. Perfectly Punctual, why were you especially early today?” There was a glint in Phil’s eye and a cheekiness to his smile that showed Dan just how pleased Phil was that he had taken the bait.

Dan loved that cheeky smile.

“I couldn’t sleep, so I decided to just get up and get here early,” Dan explained, trying to appear nonchalant.

Phil glanced up from his now-finished task, concern clear on his face. Dan must not have done a very good job of playing it cool.

“Couldn’t sleep? Is everything okay?” Phil’s brow was furrowed and he had a slight frown tugging on his lips.

Dan refused to acknowledge the voice in the back of his head calling it adorable.

“Yeah, I think I just had too much caffeine or something. You know me.” He brushed it off with a wave of his hand and an awkward laugh. “I’ll be fine.”

It wasn’t a lie, really, it just wasn’t the full truth. Dan had had a lot of caffeine yesterday, and something made him unable to sleep. It just... wasn’t the caffeine. Caffeine never affected Dan so much he couldn’t sleep at night.

No, what had kept Dan lying awake most of the night was his decision to ask Phil out on a date after work today.

Months of pining and flirting had built up, and Dan finally decided to throw caution to the wind and ask Phil to dinner, or coffee, or a movie, or literally anything, so long as they were together and it was a date.

Unfortunately, Dan’s brain had the rather awful tendency to overanalyze anything and everything he could possibly come into contact with, so his night had been full of what ifs and worst-case scenarios. They ranged from What if Phil already has a boyfriend all the way to Phil’s straight and homophobic and if I ask him out he’ll throw up on my face at the very idea of dating another man.

He knew it was ridiculous, he knew nothing horrible would happen, and he was 86% sure Phil would accept the invitation of a date. He even knew for a fact that Phil was very much not straight, since they’d talked about how hot multiple male actors were. But of course Dan’s brain would insist this was a terrible idea and he’d surely get rejected.

So when 5am rolled around, Dan decided he’d had enough and instead distracted his thoughts by getting ready for work and leaving a whole fifteen minutes earlier than necessary.

Obviously, he couldn’t tell Phil any of this without seeming like a complete idiot, so Dan just hoped his vague half-truth would be enough to get Phil to let it go.

After one more suspicious side-eye, Phil turned to the mirror and began to apply the required Prince Eric makeup to his face.

“Just make sure you take care of yourself, yeah, Dan?” Their eyes met in the mirror and Phil flashed Dan a small smile. “Wouldn’t want you passing out in the middle of a meet-and-greet.”

Dan let out a quiet sigh of relief and nodded. “Of course. Extra water for me, today.”

He stood up straight and turned around to watch Phil in the mirror.

Mirror Phil rubbed sunscreen-infused foundation on his cheekbones, and Dan’s mind wandered.

I wish I could be the one touching his cheeks like that. I bet his skin is soft and warm. Dan sighed internally.

I wonder what it feels like when he’s blushing. And what it looks like up close. How does he even stay this pale? He works outside for half the day, but he still looks like a genderbent Snow White. His lips are too pale for Snow White, though. Not that that matters- he doesn’t have to be Snow White. He’s absolutely gorgeous just the way he is, anyway. And his eyes, god, they’re so pretty. So blue, but also not, and they’re attentive, and-

It took him at least ten seconds to realize that Phil was staring back at Dan. And Dan was staring at Phil like some kind of lovestruck princess.

“Are you really that tired, or do you see something you like?” Phil said with a smirk.

Dan felt his cheeks heating up again. He couldn’t come up with a good comeback quick enough, so he just settled for a mumbled, “Oh, shut up,” and flicked his gaze down to the counter again.

His coffee was still sitting there, and Dan eagerly reached out to take another sip from it, half for the distraction and half for the necessary caffeine. Leaning against the counter again, he slid the other Starbucks cup over to Phil.

“This one’s for you, by the way,” Dan said around the lip of his own travel cup. “An extra sugary Caramel Macchiato just for you.”

(What he had wanted to say was “It’s just as sweet as you”, but that’d have consequences he wasn’t prepared to deal with just yet.)

Phil gave an adorable little “yay!” of delight and took a sip.

“Mmmm, it’s perfect. Thanks, Dan,” Phil said with a smile. He set the coffee back down and continued applying his light makeup.

“Of course.”

They remained in comfortable silence for a few minutes as Phil finished getting ready. Dan desperately hoped the caffeine would finally wake him up enough to be decent at his job today, because he was likely to fall asleep standing up if it didn’t.

While he waited for Phil, Dan took a moment to make sure his uniform looked decent. Granted, it was hard to make blue culottes (the dumbest shorts in existence), a Mickey and Friends polo (who the hell thought blue and green stripes were a good idea?), a lanyard (heavy with stupid pins), and a black belt (dorky and dad-like) look good.

All together, it was kind of hideous.

Dan tried his best to spice the gross outfit up a little. He rolled the sleeves slightly, exposing a bit more bicep, and french-tucked the shirt (for Tan France), hopefully making the overall outfit less… garish, to put it nicely. If nothing else, he hopefully looked less like a sad sack of potatoes now.

Finally, Phil sat back in his chair and let out a sigh, then took a sip from his coffee.

Dan glanced away from his own reflection to find Phil looking unfairly pretty. Phil was always pretty, obviously, but the makeup smoothed everything out so well that he looked- well, like a prince.

Their eyes met, and Dan let out a small cough and trained his eyes back onto the ground.

“All set, then?” He took a drink of his coffee and chanced another glance up at Phil.

“Your prince is ready to go,” Phil declared triumphantly, throwing both hands in the air.

Dan snorted. “Alright, my liege, let’s get moving. We have to go get our assignment for the day and I’d rather not have to stand in line behind all the other characters again.”

He stood up straight and swallowed the final dredges of his coffee. When he turned to Phil, he was met with Phil’s hand outstretched, waiting for Dan to help his lazy arse up. Dan rolled his eyes, but took Phil’s hand and helped him stand.

How are his hands always so soft? He’s clearly magic. Probably has little animals that moisturize his hands for him.

“Thank you, my dear servant,” Phil said in a snooty tone, nose in the air.

“Oh, you are most welcome, my liege,” Dan replied sarcastically, bowing low with his right arm pointing towards the door to the dressing room.

As they walked out the door, Dan noticed a physical change in Phil’s demeanor; Phil was now in Prince Eric Mode, getting himself warmed up to be in character for a day of entertaining children.

It was always fascinating to watch Phil slip into character. He started by changing his posture: broad shoulders raised, back straightened, chin up just enough to appear confident without seeming cocky. Then, his facial expression would change. Some of the excitement would dim from his eyes, turning into a more relaxed openness. His smile would soften, too, making him seem less like a giddy puppy and more like a responsible-yet-kind adult.

By the time they made it to the door of the main office, Dan wasn’t walking next to Phil anymore, he was walking next to Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid.

And so the workday properly began.

aside from the guards since were still on favorite scene i want to mention i really enjoyed the festival montage. it was nice seeing all the activities, and i think the fireworks at the end really tied it all together with some beautiful imagery

QUESTION 2. After discovering the supposed Akarna, things go downhill for the scholars at the ruins rather quickly. Do you think that Atawn will manage to escape? If he does, will he actually manage to make it somewhere safe, or will he be pursued and captured eventually anyway? Where will Atawn even go? Why do you think that Miakarna guard is helping Atawn, and will the guard suffer consequences for helping later on? Will Atawn’s records be of use, and if so how? What do you think will happen to the other scholars that Atawn left behind? Lastly, what do you think will be the consequences for the Miakarna regarding their actions? Will they spark a potential war, or will their declaration of the scholars being profane be allowed to stand?

Atawn's gonna escape, but probably be pursued as he tries to tell others about what he's seen. A man on the run! The guard is gonna join him cause he probably knows shady stuff is afoot and feels guilty just standing by and doing nothing. He seems like the thoughtful type, and he probably became a guard to protect and serve others, not deceive them.

Back on fave scene, I just wanted to mention I liked the bit near the start where it looked like as the people were meeting back up, so were the dragons. That was just a nice little detail. Hadn't expected different breeds of dragon.

It’s been a year knowing you all and I can’t believe I’ve been able to stick by your sides this whole time. We are trash, a pile of garbage collectively. So now it’s time to let each of you know how much I love you and how grateful I am for Stranger Things to have changed my life.

I don’t actually know how you do it so well. Thank you for putting up with me not understanding when you’re joking. Thank you for giving me insight into what it truly meant to ‘gain’. I know we don’t talk much with each other but when we do it’s all good things or me just being mortified. But legit man, you have such an amazing heart and I feel bad that I didn’t realise how truly truly caring you were until you talked to me that little bit about my aspergers and just let me know you understood on a unique level. Me rambling about Season 10

 I literally think I like Season 10 as much as I like stepping on an upside down plug barefoot. Okay, so maybe not that bad, probably just as much as I like stepping on a few Lego’s barefoot on the odd occasion. But yeah, Season 10 was pretty much like one of my least favourite seasons. I liked the first 8 episodes, and then after the mid season ‘cliffhangers’ it all just went downhill even more lol. (Season 10 spoilers undercut for people who aren’t up to date)

Don’t get me wrong, I did like some things about it, I loved that Tim and Casey got back together – I love them as a couple. I loved Caleb and Amy’s friendship throughout (even though he was in like 4 episodes) – I thought that was quite sweet. Of course.

I loved Mitch, my babe, just being there in episodes 1-17 ((which ever episodes he was in) I am basically making myself think that episode 18 did not happen because I literally think that was the worst episode known to man).

I loved Lou and Mitch’s relationship as always. I was really happy Lou and Peter got a divorce (not because I wanted her with Mitch) but because this happens in every day life – so having them get back together after two years would have been terrible.  I really enjoyed how Julia got more lines and was involved in storylines more, she was adorable and managed to lighten up the episodes she was in (although where the hell was Katie in 1017/18 we’ll never know lol).

 I loved Jack getting his Hall of Fame award, and them bringing back Will Vernon. I also adored how we got to see an actual relative of Lisa’s AND SHE WENT OUT THE HOUSE NUMEROUS TIMES IN SEASON 10!!!!!! WHATTT!? Let’s face it, Jisa are the saving grace of Heartland, k?

I just wished Lisa had been in more, Like seriously where was she all season? They barely even mentioned her when she wasn’t there – if at all! LIKE WHY ON EARTH WAS SHE NOT THERE FOR JACK’S POSSIBLE DAUGHTER? Like seriously? I actually think that was a really poor episode too, it just didn’t feel ‘right’ – kind of boring to be honest. I think if more people had been involved, it would have been so much better.  (Side note: I AM SO GLAD JESSICA STEEN IS ON SET MORE NOW LIKE SHE HAS BEEN MENTIONED IN ALL THREE BLOCKS FOR SEASON 11 WTAF!? – once again, Jisa are the saving grace of Heartland.)

As much as I liked Mallory and Jake coming back, I felt like her getting married was beyond a joke. Like that whole “marriage” thing is just like… Why does this show have to make out that you need to be married, or in a relationship in order to be happy? Seriously? Even Georgie is between boys and I wouldn’t be surprised if she has more on the go in season 11. Like as much as I ship some of these characters I don’t see why there is a need for people to be “together” to be happy all the time. Also wasn’t keen on Caleb and Cass’ marriage – like we haven’t really seen them as a couple so it’s hard to accept lol.

Two storylines that bothered me more than I’d care to admit were Mitch’s PTSD and Adam’s Diabetes. The show could have made so much more out of these conditions and really gone into some depths and detail about it. But no. It was mentioned, and then not really done anything about. Yes I am aware we have known about Adam’s Diabetes since 918 but when the “issue” came up in S10, it wasn’t delt with at all right and wasn’t even spoken about properly. Like legit I don’t think I have ever been so annoyed with storylines looking into disabilities and mental health as much as I have been with this show (even looking into S8 when Lou was ‘worried’ about Katie’s development). Imho I honestly think this show could do a lot more to be supportive of disabilities and mental health issues. Like Mitch, held a gun for the first time since Afghan – froze – talked to Jack for a bit and bang. All near enough forgotten… like really?

Also I love how the Mid Season Finale there was a car accident and no one was hurt or really affected. Georgie’s parents died in a car crash. Amy nearly died in the same car crash that killed her mum AND SPARTAN WAS IN A HORSE BOX BEHIND THEM AND HE GOT OUT THE TRAILER AND JUST TROTTED OFF WITH TIM ON HIS BACK LIKE NO BIG DEAL. Like yeah Georgie was a bit wobbly the next episode about the crash – but it was fixed with her and Amy having a 2-minute chat saying “yeah, I think about it too” – wow she really is the miracle girl cos she cured Georgie there and then! Like seriously, you would have thought there would be some trauma after it happened…

Amy’s pregnancy. Wow. It was literally just stupid (not even timeline wise). Like the fact she got pregnant in S9 was just annoying as well because of the whole “Yeah lets enjoy being married first” talk in 914. Those two must’ve really enjoyed being married that much they forgot to use protection, cos hello, 4 episodes later “Lol ur gonna be a dad” and Ty’s like “ooo yay” – REALLY?! But yeah, she had a scare in 1005 (I think, not rewatched) and didn’t tell her fam, or TY – WHAT REALLY? THEN IN 1009/1010 which was just terrible – she was like in lots of pain AND DIDN’T PUT HER BABY FIRST AND DIDN’T GO TO THE HOSPITAL – that is the most stupidest decision I have ever seen “amy” do – and kissing/lying about the prince is in the running here! THEN SHE LAUGHED IT OFF TO HER HUSBAND LIKE NOTHING REALLY HAPPENED!

I really enjoyed Ty going over to Mongolia for a bit, because I really enjoyed the new storyline. But it dragged on for 12 episodes. I’d have been okay with like 8 max. Even if he had to come home early because he missed Amy, or because he was worried – yep that’s fine. But 12 episodes just dragged. THEN they decide to get him ill? And he has a tick? SERIOUSLY? Like as much as I loved that episode I thought it was a little rushed – Ty and his ‘regrets’ and him ‘talking to brad that he’s gonna be a good father’ – sweet – but rushed. We also didn’t see anything about the poachers… like honestly why do that? Why even bring up the poachers if nothings going to be done/resolved?

 Ty was home for what, a day? Then Amy went into labour… *sighs* which meant we didn’t get to see Caleb and Cass’ wedding – which was another terrible story in itself and seemed to only be there as a catalyst to get Amy into Labour… Typicallllllll… AND THEN SHE HAD A HOME BIRTH – turned out she had talked it through thoroughly with the docs– I’d have probably been more okay with it if we actually got to see some of these conversations!? AND THEN AND ONLY THEN DID THEY HAVE A GIRL. I really wanted them to have a boy, it would have opened up so many more new storylines – why couldn’t there be a miracle boy? Like Why did it have to be a girl and her horse? Why not a boy and his horse? Ugh I cant even talk more about this storyline it annoys me too much.  

Basically, Season 10 started off good but turned out awful. Officially on #TeamNoExpectations and I am not expecting grate stuff (apart from Jisa our saving grace) in Season 11. I went into Season 10 with a lot of hope about some stories but after that season, I’m not even getting my hopes up. I really hope Season 11 is better than Season 10, one storyline I’m really not looking forward to is anything baby. I am so glad we are skipping six months! Still no homes are up. 

Don’t get me wrong, I still really love the show – but I love everything apart from Season 10… and I really love the actors – I will continue watching the show for them because of the hard work they put in – they obviously can’t help the storylines etc so as much as I don’t like certain characters/storylines I will always appreciate everything the cast and film crew do. I really had to write all this down and now I have I have realised how much I did not like Season 10 haha - I thought I enjoyed it more than I have done!

Dani: Your introduction video was amazing and I did try to talk to you about it during one world! I was very excited to play with you and was sad when you got first boot of the season. Stay amazing!!!

Jake: We didn’t talk much on our tribe and I knew you the least out of our OG tribe which is why I voted you. You seemed nice so it sucks we didn’t have more time to get to know each other.

Junior: I feel like you got bad luck when I’m around sorry about that

Sarah: It sucks that you were 1st boot because I was excited for the two of us to go far in the game together! 

Dani: We only talked briefly but I really wanted you to make it to single digits!!

Jake: We never spoke… gg.

Junior: None.

Sarah: I wish I had the opportunity to talk to you more! 

Dani: For some reason we didn’t talk at all during one world but you seemed pretty cool :)

Jake: I know you didn’t expect me to vote you out, but the cards just fell that way. It was really nice talking to you on our swapped tribe before that though.

Junior: I was probably the most scared of you since ive heard how amazing you are and andreas would always hype you up and I was thinking it was going to be so hard to get you out so I’m blessed I didn’t have to face you.

Sarah: Ugh such a queen, I’m sorry you go voted so early on because you could have been such a good player to play with. Especially since we never get to really play with each-other

Dani: We connected so well during one world that it hurt to see you leave. You are genuinely so funny and sweet. I was looking forward to playing this game with you but then you got evicted AND UGH!!!!!! We never even got to really play together but you are a friend I know I made from this game and I am SOO grateful for that. Can’t wait to eat your food and have some retail therapy fun!!! ;)

Jake: I’m sorry again for your vote out man, you’re a great ally but the things you said to people just got to the point where me trying to keep you would’ve hurt my game in the long run. Thanks for understanding, you’re a legend. <3

Sarah: Kudos for trying so hard during this season. Hated to see you go but at that point it was you vs me and there was no way I was going down without swinging. 

Dani: Girl I tried to talk to you so many times to the point where I’m just convinced you hate females. ONLY because people would tell me how much you talk to them and I guess it’s also a little known that you aren’t a fan of other girls. Which is cool I guess?!?!

Jake: It’s the hot Jake who voted you out… sorry for not being more transparent about that vote, I was just paranoid about idols. I’m glad we got to play another game together though.

Junior: None.

Sarah:  I miss our calls-especially the tribe chat ones. You always brought a certain something to them and it always made me laugh. Lets catch up after the game.

Dani: I feel more than horrible about the way you went home. I am so so so sorry for stabbing you in the back that is not the way I ever intended on playing. I literally thought about it alll day long before tribal council. I AM SO SO SORRY for voting you after all you did for me. I know you truly trusted me and I just went and voted for you and blindsided you and ugh ugh ugh. You are truly a wonderful person and I’m so happy I got to know you. I really hope we can be friends outside of the game and just know what I did was 100% a game move and you are so fucking awesome!!

Jake: I don’t really feel bad for voting you out. You told me you wanted to work with me but then you hid an alliance from me and I could tell that I was just an extended number for you to use later on… and I don’t do that. I wish you would’ve taken your blindside like an adult since it is just a game, but if it was just a bad day and you calmed down, then cool. 

Junior: I hope you’re doing good it was nothing personal voting you out I hope you know that every single move that was made in this game was a game move but i hope you’re doing better 

Sarah: your vote off was the most shocking of the season. I had a blast connecting with you and I hope you come online so we can continue chatting because you’re hilarious :)  

Dani: I freaking loved working with you. I tried my hardest to try and get the votes off of you but I just couldn’t. I really wanted to work more than we did in the game but you were a “threat” (easy vote) for a lot of the people and I had to think about my own game at that point. Thank you for outting my extra vote and putting more of a target on my back LOL. I really loved talking to you and I loved the music video you made with your Minecraft sword! I hope we can be friends outside of the game because you are great :)

Jake: Keaton man, I feel like we never got to have a solid connection in the game since we were never on a tribe pre-merge and then we only played together in the merge for 2 rounds. I apologize for not reaching out to you as much as I could have,  but I must say that you’re exit speech was nothing short of being legendary haha.

Junior: You’re tribal was probably the most fun I’ve had all game and even though we didn’t talk as much as others I appreciate what you brought to the game 

Sarah: OMG KEATON I am so glad we connected and you made this game interesting by popping off at the tribal council. You went down throwing fists and I absolutely loved it and your outgoing personality. 

Dani: Oh lovely Tom. I truly thought of you as one of my allies until you made it so very obvious you were working against me! I love you as a person! You are hilarious and just so great! As a player you are kinda reckless which I respect because I could NEVER have the balls like you! You were fun to work with and talk to and the game has been more than boring (social wise)  since voting you out!  

Jake: What a weird relationship we’ve had throughout the years Tom. I was so shook to find out that you were Dylan from Zwooper and was convinced that you would be against me, then you proposed to work together, and I was pretty down for it. Early merge was actually a lot of fun calling you and strategizing, and this game made me realize that you’re a pretty nice guy. I don’t know if you’re confused as to why I voted you out, but it was mainly due to what happened after our call that round, and people telling me that you told them I suggested to you what you suggested to me first. I really didn’t know if I could trust you after that and I didn’t feel safe with you in the game knowing what I wanted to do. But still, I ended up leading you on that vote because of idol paranoia and I feel bad about it. I hope there’s no hard feelings over the game, because I really do want to continue talking now that we’re on good terms. 

Junior: Legit probably the only time I didn’t agree with the vote, I think this was the first time where i realized that I had to message a bit during work so I didn’t come back with the vote being set you were great person to talk to and appreciate you staying up on calls with me <3

Sarah: I do not know where to even begin with this, but I will try. Your vote off and how I handled it is my biggest regret in this game and to this day I still feel awful that we’re still not ruling manhattan beach together. Since the beginning of this game I wanted to work with you. You were always funny to talk to and we got along so well. The day I found out you were playing the middle and lying behind my back I had to vote you out before you could ruin my game. Now looking back on it, I can see our friendship was to the point that I should have come to you honestly so we could work past it. Feelings run high in this game and if I ever have hurt your feelings I am genuinely sorry and would love to talk more after the game because I would still like to remain friends. 

Dani: You were so fun to talk to and always had something funny to say in the main chat. I’m so sorry the way things went down. I truly did not want you to go but you were the only player other people would vote for aside from myself. Please keep being amazing!

Jake: Isaac you slut. Why do we never work together in games?? You tried snatching my ass the round you went so I HAD to go for you since you were the least likely to idol with the options I had. Even though we weren’t on the same page, your disturbing pictures and sense of humor legit always had me cracking tf up. Never change man, even Amanda Lynn would be proud of your faggotry.

Junior: I know we never had the best conversations but I knew we weren’t probably never going to work together in this game its nothing personal that’s just how some relationships workout in game you can’t be talk to everyone but you were funny and had a lot of memorable moments like that idol up your ass >.>

Sarah: EUUUGH. Your vote off was sad but expected. You know how much I loved working with you and how amazingly funny I think you are. I CANT WAIT to call and talk more about the game after all of this is over so I can laugh again 

Dani: GIRL I FUCKING LOVE YOU. I’m so sorry people got you out because they thought I was your number one. I know you were playing your own game and you showed that to me several times. I respect the fuck out of you and I’m still sad you went the way you did. I hope we get to play together again!!!

Jake: Lucy! We didn’t start playing together until the merge and I’m glad that we got to work together for a bit. I was so happy that the Mark vote worked out and you stayed, and it sucked to see you get voted out, especially since I didn’t expect it LOL. You killed it this game considering how much your time zone affected talking to people, and I’m glad that we got to work together in this.

Junior: The one time in the game i felt truly blindsided, this vote really taught me a lesson that you’re not always 100 percent in control but its what you do afterwards that matters, you are always a joy to talk to even though our time zones were so messed up lol

Sarah: Queen of wanting 3-3-3 votes and trying to make big moves. God you were fun to talk to and I love how much you came for ppl in a round about way. I wish you, isaac and I were in an alliance. It would have been so funny. 

Dani: I love you as a person, but as a player I think we drove eachother crazy. I know you trusted me and I ruined that trust during the mark vote, but I did try to get it back several times. You just were not having it which is completely understandable! I really am sorry for the mark vote, but everything else I did NOT SORRY AT ALL!

Jake: Oh Ryan… I don’t blame you if you went from being excited to playing with me at the start to wanting to slit my throat by the end haha, I really was a little bitch to you at times. I was soooo excited to play with you in the beginning, and I kinda touched on how I started to feel like we were growing distant by the time we merged, and I still think that a lot of our issues arrised from miscommunications that I could’ve fixed by talking to you. I feel bad for how our game relationship fell apart near the end, but I knew that I had to take you out no matter what because IMO you were setting yourself up to steamroll to the end and win hands down with how good you were starting to get people to vote with you. You are such an impressive player and an even nicer guy outside of the game. I hope that we can continue talking after this.

Junior: Literally Sandra Diaz Twine second coming like you were all about surviving until the next vote and I respected that so much you were one to never shy away from having a conversation and didn’t matter who wronged you you were going to look at all the angles to save yourself. To think the way you went out was with an idol play very iconic.

Sarah: I respect your game SO MUCH. You are a fighter and I love that I had the opportunity to work with you the majority of this game. Even when our alliance was on the bottom you were always looking for creative ways to get us out of the situation. In the end, I wanted to play my idol on you but I felt like something suspicious was happening so I had to protect my game. Hope you understand. 

Dani: You are a great player and I respected most of your gameplay this season. I understand why you did everything you did! And thank you so much for doing it because we were being targeted for being together and you took that target away! Our main chat fight was the first time I’ve ever cried because of survivor. When you left and said it was fake,  EVERYONE knew you were lying because two of the people still in the game heard me sob during the fight. Honestly I was 100% on board with us working together again but when no one would budge I had to vote you for my own game. I really hope we can be friends outside of the game and I think you are an amazing player.

Jake: DAN. I really thought we would low-key be at each others necks this game, and I mean we were, but we did work together for a bit!! I’m really glad that you proposed an alliance early on, because the time we spent working together was a lot of fun. Then you went and backstabbed me… bitch. Lol just kidding, no hard feelings for that and I appreciate you for not taking in personal when I came for you in routine. Like Ryan, I thought you were the other big threat to win since I know you’re a strong player and that if you talked enough you could get people back on your side. But I’m  really glad that I got to know you more in this game. I really appreciate you being so supportive of my um… boo thang endeavours, and I can’t wait to update you on him!! Pls keep being an icon and I hope we stay friends after this :)

Junior: Honestly still think you have that idol lol but I’m sorry we never clicked I know that’s just how the game goes and I am not going to be able to click with all 19 other castaways hopefully you can see it like that and still able to respect each other games cause I know you came to play since that first merge vote and you fought hard even till the end #chaosdan

Sarah: A KING. I am sad it came down to you vs me however if for some reason I left in f7 instead I would have been happy I lost to someone who played the game so well and tried so hard to get as far as possible. 

Dani: You played the fucking middle like a KING. I tried to keep you in the game but turns out you were really campaigning against me (which I understand). I honestly think you could have won the entire game if you made it to the end. I highly respect your gameplay and wish to learn from you. THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU!!!

Jake: I was so happy to be cast with you since we’ve legit known each other for like… what 4 years now?! Ugh, we worked together so well for a lot of this game, and then things just hit the fan near the end haha. I tried to keep you included in stuff that was going on behind the scenes, but after telling you to use your idol and you using it successfully, I started to believe that going to the end with you would make it so hard for me to pitch my case to win against you, which is why I made the move against you. I really expected you to drag my ass and come for my life, so um I was pleasantly surprised to see you not be as angry as I thought and I appreciate it a lot. Anyways I’m not used to being this nice to you since we literally fight every other day so um… fuck you. But really though, I’m glad we finally played a legit game together after all this time, it really was a blast playing with you.

Junior: Through our conversations early merge until you got voted out I had the best times with you I know we left off on not the best note but at the end of the day this is just a game for me and I will not take anything personally with what you have to say with the way I played the game I respect your opinion (even though i do believe you are one of the best players to play this season) you came to play and will have the most iconic play of the season!

Sarah: I WISH WE CONNECTED MORE IN THE GAME. I WILL PUT THIS IN CAPS SO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I MEAN IT. You are so FUCKING funny but tbh I am glad you’re gone because you were going to destroy me <3 ;)

Dani: ANDREAS!! The kindest person I met in the entire game. I’m sorry you went out the way you did. I voted for you and didn’t tell you partly because I fell asleep and partly because I just didn’t feel like having that conversation. WHICH I AM SO SO SORRY ABOUT. You deserved to know you were going. Thank you for keeping me sane throughout the game. And thank you so much for your kind words even when you voted for me LOL! You are a freaking comp beast and you scared everyone due to that!! Again, thank you for everything.

Jake: Hey boyyyyy. I don’t know what it was, but I was drawn to working with you right when we swapped tribes. It’s so nice playing with people like you are are calm and collected, and down to earth and I got that vibe from you right away. We were on the same page for most of the game until the final 6 when you went around telling people I was a threat to win, and then told me that TO MY FACE!!! Hahaha I appreciate your complete honesty, but I did not feel comfortable going any farther with you because I had a feeling you would push for me to go at some point, which is why I wanted to vote you out at the final 5. Regardless, I really think you played an amazing UTR game that you would’ve been able to explain well at FTC. Not sure if others saw it that way, but from playing with you for almost the entire game, I knew what you were capable of, and it’s impressive. But yeah man, I still enjoyed playing with you a ton, and we need to play something on the Switch soon when I’m less busy with school, because I need to kick your ass at Smash Bros too. ;)

Junior: I feel bad knowing you were going home and i guess giving you hope that you were safe I feel like I did that a lot this season I completely will understand if you or others felt like I gave false hope until the end but my motto this whole season was, it’s gotta be a blindside, apart from that, theres no one else i wouldnt want to be a goat with <3

Sarah: I loved being able to connect with you and see how you think game wise. We are very similar when it comes to our game play but I just am a little bit more crazy. You were fun to work with and you made me laugh at how honest you were. It was much appreciated which is why I want to return the favour to you whenever you wish!

The Anti-Scammer

Ladybug and Chat Noir always stopped akumas, that was a fact of life. The supervillains would pop up, make a scene, get in a fight with the superheroes and ultimately end up defeated. Sometimes the akumas barely made a ripple before the city's superheroes arrived to take them down.

But not this time.

The akuma victim was a woman who, by the sounds of it, had been dealing with her grandfather's tendency to be taken in by scammers of all sorts. She had been possessed after having to deter her grandfather from falling prey to a series of attempted scams, both by telephone call and pop-ups on his computer. She had had enough of people trying to steal his money and identity, enough of the harassing phone calls, enough of trying to convince him that no, those pop-ups are not legit, and more than enough of having to deal with the fraudulent charges on his credit card. She had decided to seek out and destroy all of the fraudsters in town with the fraud-detecting powers that had been given to her by Hawkmoth. When Ladybug and Chat Noir arrived on the scene, she was cracking down on a crime ring that had reportedly ripped people out of nearly three million dollars. The men involved were screaming, throwing money and credit cards at the Anti-Scammer in an attempt to deter her.

The superheroes were incredibly amused.

"Y'know, I don't feel particularly inclined to help," Chat commented as he took in the scene below, plopping down on the edge of the roof and letting his feet dangle off the edge. "I mean, I know we're supposed to help protect all civilians from akumas, even the nasty people...but can we just leave them hanging for a bit?"

"Chat Noir!"

Chat Noir grinned at Ladybug as she sent him an exasperated look. Still, she didn't look particularly inclined to argue with him. "Come on, scammers are awful people! Can we at least call the police up first and have them ready to round the ass-"

"Language!"

"-holes up?"

Ladybug sighed, clearly torn. Scammers or not, they were still citizens and she was supposed to protect them. "I mean, we should get in there and stop her..."

"But?" Chat prompted, grin tugging on the corners of his mouth. "I mean, technically she's providing the city with a useful service. I don't think anyone's going to complain about a supervillain going around and outing all of the fraudsters in Paris."

Ladybug's lips quirked upwards. She couldn't exactly deny that. "I suppose."

"Technically she's stopping crime as well," Chat Noir continued, making himself more comfortable on the roof's edge. "Like, I bet that this is similar to what Hawkmoth's kwami is supposed to be used for. Empowering people to go out and make a positive difference."

"Except all she's doing is knocking out the scammers," Ladybug pointed out. "They'll get away in a moment unless they get arrested by the police."

"Then our role in this fight is scammer round-up." Chat Noir dialed the police department on his baton. "We can let the Anti-Scammer flush out the, well, scammers, have the police arrest them, and once she loses steam then we swoop in and bring her back to normal."

So they did, much to the confusion of the civilians who happened on the scene. The police were busy at work moving knocked-out scammers into their police cars whenever it was safe for them to dash in, but Ladybug and Chat Noir stayed up on the rooftops, sipping smoothies that they had bought from a nearby vendor and making sure that the Anti-Scammer didn't hurt any innocent civilians. They followed along as the Anti-Scammer moved from one scamming operation to the next, striking each down with righteous fury. There tended to be some property damage, which made Ladybug wince, but it would all be fixed later, with the extra bonus of having several dozen criminals in custody.

Hopefully.

Two and a half hours into the Anti-Scammer's attack, the Mayor and his daughter rolled up in their limo to the most recent attack site, where the akuma was busy screaming at the cowering workers. Ladybug and Chat Noir had come down from the rooftops to discuss the impromptu sting operation with the police, all the while keeping a wary eye on the rampaging akuma, when the mayor strode up to join them, Chloe hot on his heels.

"This attack has been going on for hours," the mayor complained as he approached. "Surely Ladybug and Chat Noir have heard- oh. You're already here."

"Have been for a while," Chat Noir commented idly, inspecting his claws.

"Well, aren't you going to do anything about this?" Chloe demanded immediately, stomping a sparkly white shoe. "There's a supervillain right in front of you, in case you hadn't noticed!"

"We noticed," Ladybug said at the same time Chat Noir quipped, "No, really?"

The mayor swelled up and gazed sternly at the superheroes. "So the problem is...?"

Ladybug and Chat Noir exchanged a quick glance before Ladybug spoke. "Well, there have been several articles in the paper recently about the sudden spike in scams based in the city. Technically Anti-Scammer is doing the city a favor by tracking them all down for us."

The Mayor frowned at them sternly. "Surely there's a better way to do this than to let an akuma run rampant. She's tying up traffic and if this continues much longer, it'll get in the way of my fancy dinner tonight! Dignitaries from all over the world are coming to my hotel. It'll look awful if half of the city is a disaster!"

"Technically only a couple buildings have been smashed," Chat Noir pointed out helpfully. It was clear from the Mayor's rapidly purpling face that he wasn't particularly mollified by Chat's words.

"There can't possibly be that many more conmen left in the city," Officer Rodgers chimed in, patting the mayor comfortingly on the shoulder. "It shouldn't take much longer to clear out the rest of them and then Ladybug and Chat Noir can do their thing. Really, you would not believe how helpful this akuma has been," the officer added when the mayor didn't look convinced. "Over two dozen arrests so far in connection to three different fraud groups, including those hackers we were having trouble with earlier this month! I have officers at those locations gathering evidence so that we can put those criminals away, and they're even finding evidence that they can use to track down other headquarters!"

Still the Mayor wavered.

"It'll look good to have cracked down on so many crime rings at once," Officer Rodgers pointed out again. "I'm sure the dignitaries would be able to excuse a little bit of a mess in face of such an accomplishment."

Mr. Bourgeois sniffed haughtily. "What they'll be seeing is our esteemed police force relying on a supervillain to do their work for them."

"Hey, if a supervillain is willing to do the police's work for free, why not let them?" Ladybug asked, shrugging her shoulders. "She seems perfectly content to limit her damage to those who, well- these guys actually deserve it, no? Their work is all about ripping people off."

The mayor sighed loudly, as though a criminal-finding supervillain was the biggest inconvenience he could have ever dreamed up. "Well, I suppose you might have a point. Very well, you can continue, but wrap it up before four, if you please. I can't have my dinner interrupted." With that, he turned and strode back to his car. Chloe followed with a haughty sniff.

"We weren't asking permission," Chat Noir grumbled, turning back to watch as the Anti-Scammer pounced on a short, portly man attempting to make an escape. As her focus narrowed onto him, several officers cautiously edged their way in to grab the fraudsters that the akuma had knocked out. "Can we let her run past four, just to annoy him?"

Ladybug snorted. "No. I have things I need to do, and I'm sure you do as well."

"You didn't bring along your homework?" Chat Noir joked as they made their way back onto the rooftops. "I forgot mine as well. I rather thought this would be an open-and-shut sort of thing."

Five hours and thirty-three minutes into the attack, the akuma landed in front of Ladybug and Chat Noir with a thud, sending dust flying. Anti-Scammer raised a haughty eyebrow as she sized up the heroes in front of her. "Oh, here you are! Are the little superheroes scared of me? You've been hiding for a long, long time!"

Ladybug pasted a wide smile onto her face as she took a half-step back, putting a little more space between herself and the supervillain. If Anti-Scammer lunged, she would have a half-second more for reaction time. "Oh, no. We just thought your cause was so just that we figured that you could take care of all of the scammers in the city before trying to take care of Hawkmoth's little task."

Anti-Scammer's smirk grew, making Ladybug and Chat Noir exchange nervous glances. They had thought that she would be a little taken aback by their decision, at the very least. Letting an akuma run loose was something they hadn't ever done before. "All the scammers in Paris? Yes, yes, that might do for some people. But me? I will take out everyone who scams, hacks, or is involved in fraud in all the world! It's not just the local criminals who are the problem in the Digital Age, you know. They're all over the world!"

"I don't think she'll be able to do all of those criminals before four o'clock today," Chat Noir said in a loud whisper. "Maybe by four o'clock by this time next year, though."

"That's a, ah, very admirable goal," Ladybug said, valiantly ignoring Chat Noir as she focused on the akuma. "But maybe that's too much for one afternoon. Start small, you know? Or maybe you could, uh, use your powers to direct the police to help you on your quest."

Anti-Scammer paused, finally puzzled. "You wish... to help me? Hawkmoth said that I would have to get rid of you to complete my goal."

"Hawkmoth says a lot of things," Ladybug managed, straightening her back. "Not everything he says is accurate. Officer Rodgers is just over there, maybe you can tell him how your fraud-tracking powers work and you two can figure out if there's a way to do world-wide crackdown on crime from Paris. You'll be famous around the world!"

"Weeellll..." Anti-Scammer hummed, putting a pensive finger on her chin. "That would certainly be nice, but..."

Ladybug and Chat Noir exchanged nervous glances, and both of them winced when the purple mask flashed over Anti-Scammer's face. She scowled for a moment at whatever Hawkmoth was saying.

"Working with the police would help you work a lot faster than you would be able to do by yourself," Chat Noir said quickly after the mask vanished. "You'd be able to cover more of the world! If you did it all by yourself, more scammers would be able to pop up as soon as you got rid of others because it would take so long to go around the world."

"If you got police help, you could do all of that work in a couple days' time," Ladybug agreed. "Very efficient, you know."

The butterfly mask flashed again and this time, Anti-Scammer winced. She looked like she was in pain and her hands went to her neck as though she was choking. Ladybug and Chat Noir froze, unsure what to do. They half-wanted to step forward and try to help, but it could be a ruse. The akuma was unpredictable, and it almost looked like Hawkmoth was trying to take control over her from a distance. After a couple seconds, they both decided the best course of action was to scramble several meters back and get into a defensive position. Seconds later the Anti-Scammer straightened up, eyes refocused on then with a focused, steely glint.

"I cannot keep my powers if I don't uphold my end of the bargain," she said in a flat, almost robotic voice. "I will get your Miraculous, and then I will work with the police to do a worldwide sting. It will be fabulous, and the whole world will know my name!"

"Shoot, and I was hoping that that would work," Chat Noir said under his breath.

The next second, Anti-Scammer lunged. Ladybug and Chat Noir both danced away out of her reach, spinning into fighting poses as soon as they could. Seconds later they found themselves forced into retreat as Anti-Scammer ripped bricks off of a nearby building and threw them. She destroyed a full wall in seconds, using the wreckage as projectiles as she tried to hit the superheroes.

"Retreat! Let's see if we can get away and then do a surprise attack," Ladybug suggested quickly. Chat Noir nodded and then both of them were sprinting away, heading for a less populated part of town. Civilians scattered out of their path as they ran, some yelling warnings to others ahead of them as they started sprinting.

"I've never seen Hawkmoth do that to an akuma before," Chat Noir gasped as they spun around a corner. "Do you think that's new? That's terrifying!"

Ladybug though back. Now that she thought about it, she had kind of seen something similar before. When she had arrived for her "date" with the Evillustrator, he had been clutching his hand as though it was in pain and he had made some sort of exclamation- some kind of frantic "Okay, okay!"- right as she walked up. Like with the Anti-Scammer, the Evillustrator had gotten more than a little distracted from his task of getting the Miraculous. "Actually, remember Evillustrator? Marinette said afterwards that when she walked up, he was clutching his hand as though it was in pain. If it really is the same power, Hawkmoth's been able to do that for a while and he just doesn't do it that often."

"I guess most akuma cooperate enough," Chat Noir said. He looked intrigued. "It seems like what we just saw is an extension of that. With Evillustrator, he was probably pulling through the akuma. This was targeted through the neck."

"We should talk to our kwami to see if they know what Hawkmoth's kwami's limits are." Ladybug vaulted over a car easily, just in time to miss the large chunk of concrete that slammed into the side half a second later. "It would be good information to have."

"If they even know," Chat Noir pointed out. "If it's never been used for evil before, there might be things that it can be made to do that they just don't know about because it's never been done."

"We should find her again after we free Hawkmoth's kwami," Ladybug said a bit breathlessly as she dodged a thrown brick. She flipped into a somersault to get over a brick wall and drop into a sheltered alcove. "I'd love to see all of the world's scammers taken down. One has been bugging my parents for ages, calling almost every day. We blocked the number and they just used another."

"Use an air horn right into the phone," Chat Noir suggested as he batted bits of broken glass away with his baton. "Or anything loud. They'll quit then." It was something both his father and Nathalie did. He wasn't sure who had picked up the habit from who. He paused. "You think she could be possessed again?"

"We don't own an air horn and even if we did, we couldn't use it in our building. It's very tempting, though," she added. "And yes, I do think so. If the butterfly had a different holder, someone who wanted to do good..."

"That would be a good reintroduction of the butterfly," Chat Noir agreed, nodding. "Y'know, to redeem it so people don't forever associate it with bad guys."

A large shower of bricks interrupted their conversation and both superheroes darted out of their makeshift hiding spot.

"Oh, this is gonna be fun," Chat Noir said with a grumble. "I love it when people throw things at my head." He paused. "Uh, any idea what the possessed object is?"

Ladybug gave him a look, even as she narrowly ducked the jagged remnants of a window sailing past her head. "Yes? It's fairly obvious, isn't it? She's been using the phone in the case on her belt to track down the scammers. That has to be it."

"Good to know. That's easy enough to try to grab." Chat Noir glanced over his shoulder, where the akuma was still in hot pursuit. "Well, relatively. At least we don't have to try to grab something really tiny, like we did with that akuma last week."

"That was awful," Ladybug agreed. They fell silent for several seconds as they focused on all-out sprinting away from the akuma so that they could have a few seconds to regroup and come up with a plan of attack. They spotted a large building up ahead and exchanged a meaningful look before changing course to head straight towards it. Then Chat Noir spoke up again.

"At least her powers seem to be more brute force and less, y'know, complicated," Chat Noir said a bit breathlessly, dodging the car Anti-Scammer had paused to fling at them. "I know how to deal with brute force. Other stuff- dodge left!- can get kind of scary sometimes because it's harder to deal with."

"Yeah, it's showy but not exactly that effective," Ladybug agreed. She jumped up and over a garbage can as they reached the building. "I don't think that Hawkmoth has quite as much control over what powers the akuma have as he would like. Some have kind of useless powers. Remember Pigeon Man?"

"Do I ever," Chat Noir answered with a groan. They rounded the building as fast as they could, hoping to get out of Anti-Scammer's sight so that they could either sneak up on her from behind or scale the building and attack from above before she caught on. "Thank goodness it seems like he can't control it. I don't want to think of what kinds of powers Hawkmoth might think up if he was given full reign over what they could be."

"I think he might run out of ideas eventually if he had to think everything up," Ladybug pointed out. They skidded around yet another corner of the building and started running again. "If he had to think up every single power for every akuma, he would have to start recycling eventually. And if we had to fight against powers we already saw..."

"But he could improve on them then," Chat Noir countered. "Figure out where the akuma went wrong and fix it for the next time. There were some really close calls before-"

They swung around yet another corner and fell quiet. Anti-Scammer was just reaching the far edge of the building and hadn't noticed them yet. They slowed for a moment, letting her round the corner before they launched themselves onto the top of the building.

"Maybe you should call up a Lucky Charm," Chat Noir suggested as they landed. "We'd be sure to end the fight quickly then."

Ladybug nodded, and seconds later she was holding a fully inflated red inner tube decorated with her signature black dots. She shrugged at Chat Noir- the inner tube would make its purpose known when it was time- and together they headed quickly over to the side of the building that Anti-Scammer would soon be rounding. They had tried doing surprise attacks on akumas before and they generally were successful, so hopefully this time would be no different.

"We should drop own and pin her," Ladybug murmured as they reached the edge of the building. Anti-Scammer had apparently realized that they had shaken her and she had slowed down. "Then whoever is closer grabs the phone and smashes it."

Chat Noir nodded in understanding and they readied themselves to jump over the edge. Then Anti-Scammer spoke without even looking up, and Ladybug and Chat Noir froze.

"Oh, how cute. You thought you could sneak up on me?" She looked up then, waving the phone in their direction as she smirked. "This finds both scammers and superheroes. You can run, but you can't hide- HEY!"

Ladybug had taken advantage of Anti-Scammer's triumphant distraction to wedge the inner tube over her arms, pinning them to her sides. Chat Noir wasted no time in snagging the phone and snapping it in two. The akuma fluttered free and Ladybug snapped it up immediately. Seconds later it fluttered away, white as new snow.

"Wait a moment," Chat Noir said before Ladybug could retrieve her Lucky Charm and fling it into the air. "Is that going to get all of the criminals loose again, since the Anti-Scammer was the one who got them?"

Ladybug paused steps away from the akuma and blinked back at him. "I- I don't know? I mean, I don't think so. People don't usually go back to where they were before an attack if it was the akuma that moved them. A ton of people ended up at City Hall when Black Knight hit, remember?"

"At least the Healing Light moved people down to the ground," Chat Noir said with a shudder. "I wouldn't have wanted to have to haul all those people down from the roof. But yeah, that's true."

"And technically, Anti-Scammer didn't even move them," Ladybug pointed out. "She just knocked them out. The police were the ones that dragged them from the buildings and into the police cars. But I'll see if I can focus the healing light somehow. Maybe you should call Officer Rodgers and have him keep an eye on things," Ladybug suggested. "So we'll know right away if the scammers need to be rounded up again."

Chat Noir nodded and pulled out his baton to dial the officer as Ladybug retrieved her Lucky Charm from around the defeated-looking akuma slumped on the ground. She waited until Sabrina's father answered and Chat Noir quickly explained what they were about to do, and then she focused as she tossed the inner tube high into the air. She wanted the damage fixed and any innocent passerbys cured, but the scammers left in jail where they belonged. Her nose scrunched up a bit with the effort, and her eyes tracked her healing ladybugs as they swept over the city. As they started to fade, her eyes flicked over to Chat Noir, who was still holding his phone to his ear with an anxious expression. Several seconds after the last of the sparking ladybugs faded away, Chat Noir flashed Ladybug a grin and a thumbs up. His grin dropped away quickly, though, as the newly reverted woman realized what had happened and immediately started sobbing. The two superheroes exchanged a glance and then immediately moved to try to comfort her.

"I d-d-didn't mean to get akumatized! I was just upset that Grandpa Jack fell for a-another s-s-stupid-"

"You got akumatized for a far better reason than most people," Ladybug said comfortingly, patting the crying woman's shoulder. "And you did a lot of good. There were busts all over the city and all sorts of hackers and scammers got arrested with your help."

"And the police said that they found a ton of evidence at a lot of the sites that will lead them to other people involved," Chat Noir added. "A lot of criminals are behind bars thanks to you. That's the most help an akuma has ever been," he said when the woman still looked upset. "Ladybug and I were talking about it earlier, actually- the butterfly Miraculous is supposed to create heroes, and this is the closest it's gotten so far."

The woman nodded and sniffled again. Ladybug and Chat Noir exchanged another look; most of the time akuma victims weren't particularly upset by their akumatizations, probably since so many people had been akumatized at this point and it was clear that they had done nothing wrong. Still, some people either saw it as a sign of weakness or were just outright horrified at the thought that they could become a supervillain. They weren't trained to really do a whole lot of comfort, but thankfully there were people that were.

Before the woman could break into another round of sobs, the signature dusky purple van that the counselors drove around in pulled up to the corner. Two women immediately hopped out with blankets to wrap around the akuma victim. Ladybug and Chat Noir helped them move her to the vehicle, and then the van was packing up and on its way almost as quickly as it had come. The woman would get to sit with the counselors until she was no longer upset and then she would get a complementary ride back home. Hopefully the counselors would be able to come up with some suggestions for her to help keep her grandfather from falling for more scams in the future.

"Somehow I don't think she would be up to becoming Anti-Scammer again, even with a completely trustworthy Butterfly holder," Chat Noir said as they watched the van pull away. "Pity. Anti-Scammer would have made for a good temporary superhero."

"Yeah," Ladybug agreed as the van rounded the corner and vanished. "Yeah, she would have."

In his lair, Hawkmoth was seething. Another day, another akuma, another defeat. It was absolutely mortifying that Ladybug and Chat Noir had decided to ignore his akuma for hours and let her run loose until he had finally forced their hand. He didn't create heroes. This kind of do-gooder slip-up couldn't happen again.

He wouldn't let it.

Half the year has gone already ??? What ??? How ???

This has probably been the best few months I’ve had in a long while. Granted, they weren’t without their difficulty, but I think there were less meltdowns and bad periods than usual? It can be hard to tell in hindsight, but I’m happy anyway. It’s been a good time and I’m sad to see the semester end…

There are so many things to cover – gonna list them out here so I don’t forget to write about anything. Uni (academics and new friends), piano, fic, boxing, quitting SYO, what else? I think that’s it for now.

I haven’t updated for legit like 3 months so this is probably going to take fkn forever. But here goes. So uni has been a bit of a rollercoaster – my first midsems for econ (maths and micro) were god awful. I didn’t think it was possible to do as badly as I did in maths, a solid 4/25 and barely a pass in micro with 15/25. It hit me hard – I wasn’t super confident going into them, but no-one expects to do quite that badly, and to be honest I’m used to working hard and getting the results. I probably should’ve seen it coming. The practice tests weren’t going great and I was probably too confident going in. But yeah. It was a real reality check. Are you as smart as you think, Alyssa? Never. So after about a week of just crying and being real upset at Don (the shittiest lecturer I think I’ve ever had; he wouldn’t give me marks because he was ‘too annoyed’ that I’d gotten so many things wrong previously’, laughs at people in class, tells people to quit their jobs to study for maths…yeah. I know I’ll probably look back on this and laugh at how trivial it is, but man during semester it was annoying.) life had to move on and I had to move on with it. Julia came to Sydney in the midsemester break which was pretty great (it was real nice to hang out with her again and relax!) and then I began to work my ass off for my law assignments before starting to prep for the next econ midsems.

To be honest, I pretty much gave up 2-3 weeks of my life working for law and econ…but it’s not like I didn’t really enjoy it. I really enjoyed working with Tom and then eventually with Soo as well on the contracts assignment, even with the long hours cooped up in my room, poring over casebooks and PDF judgments online (control F has never been more useful I think). There was something about being so absorbed into the knowledge and being so dedicated to something that was just so great – most people would hate it, but I’m glad I don’t. Even working on CCP wasn’t terrible ! Those assignments worked out great; 25/30 for contracts (the top mark was 26), and 16.5/20 for CCP (I think I might have been close to topping!). I never thought I’d see the day where I did that well in law, and that those marks would ever be better than econ lol. But I was mostly glad that everything worked out the way it did – I think it would’ve killed me if I hadn’t done well after so much work. Anyway, hopefully those results can save me from the horror of exams…I’m glad I have at least something of a buffer.

And econ…econ was something special. I have never worked on anything as hard as I did for that maths exam, and to an extent the micro paper as well. All I did was eat, sleep, mandi and study for a two week period – I’m very lucky that I was living in college and that my friends were always around me, because otherwise I probably could’ve become a real hermit. I think it was about then that I really started to fall in love with the maths a little bit lol. There’s this satisfaction that I got out of it that I’d never gotten before. But yeah. After two crazy weeks, I did the papers and scored damn well – went from 16% in maths to 84%, and 60 in micro to 75. By some insane coincidence I’m now exactly on a pass for maths – hopefully it’s enough to carry me into honours next year. I was just so desperate to prove to myself and everyone around me that I could do this, and that I wasn’t an idiot. And I’m glad I did – it’s one hell of a story to tell at job interviews at any rate. But that feeling of success when I first got the maths mark back was absolutely phenomenal. I remember it really vividly – I was waiting out on the street waiting for uber eats when Connor texted the group chat saying that maths marks were up. My nerves were astronomical, but when I saw that number…man. That feeling was something else. All the hard work had been well worth it just for that moment. The feeling is absolutely amazing; I just hope that I’ll be able to experience it again when the exam marks come back.

So yeah – that’s the academics. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster. Hopefully I can deliver in exams too, and get through with decent looking grades.

There was another great outcome of the second set of midsems – I met this amazing group of friends who do economics at uni. They’re all so welcoming and wonderful and genuine !! I just wish I could’ve met them sooner. For most of the semester since then, I’ve been seeing them every now and again which has been really great – hopefully I can get closer to them next sem. I even got invited to their end of semester stuff – Wednesday night was really great <3 They are all so great. Fingers crossed I can keep hanging out with them.

Along with this group has come some boy stuff lol. Which I’m just so bad at dealing with it’s almost funny. So basically, I think this guy is probably/maybe/I think keen, and I thought I was too, but honestly now I don’t know. Part of it is remnants of all the Lynden stuff – I can’t shake this feeling that getting into a relationship means giving up my independence and losing a part of myself. And then I think the other part is I don’t know if he’s quite the right guy – it sounds shallow, but appearance is definitely a factor, and then also idk I’m worried that if things go pear shaped I won’t be able to be friends with everyone anymore. Idk, I’m just not sure. Tom keeps laughing at my indecision but honestly it’s so bad lol. And I don’t know why I keep pushing people away – is it a self defence mechanism or something? It’s very unhelpful lol and only serves to make things difficult. I haven’t quite worked this one out, but hopefully I will at some point?

On to the next thing – piano. So I’ve been playing casually all semester and really enjoying it! I think not having the pressure to play super well all the time and to just have fun is really great, but is also a little restrictive in terms of progress. At the moment I’m playing a lot of music from the movie Amelie and also Goodbye Lenin, as well as some Studio Ghibli stuff. For some reason it feels a lot better than playing violin, which I haven’t been doing too much of lately – I think a break is probably a good thing, but it also feels sad to let it go. I haven’t even applied for AYO this year, which just feels so strange. Also, I quit SYO – weirdly they never emailed me back or anything, and that doesn’t feel great, but yeah. Idk. It feels like I’m just letting go of so many things in my life which is strange – I’m so used to being committed to a million and one things, and it’s weird to just enjoy doing stuff for the sake of it how most people do, in the way of hobbies. It’ll definitely take some time to adjust to it, but hopefully I’ll get there at some point.

But actually, one thing I have picked up this semester is boxing, and it’s been bloody great. I struggled so much last year to let go of karate and try something new, but somehow I’ve managed to do it this year and I honestly feel as if I’m learning so much. Learning boxing has been a radically different experience to karate – the environment is much more full on, fast paced and intense, which to be honest is a good thing for me I think. My fitness has improved markedly, I’m more toned and feel good. The only thing I wished was a bit better is that individuals don’t get all that much attention, but you can’t win everything I suppose. But hell, I’m really enjoying it – might even be doing a fight in October, though the prospect is a little nerve-wracking. Will probably be doing a kata competition in August as well for karate, so that’ll be interesting !

This semester has really been great. I feel so much more settled in Sydney, my friendships feel much more secure and I finally feel like things are falling into place. I know I take a long time to settle in to places, but I really didn’t anticipate it taking this long lol, but I’m glad that it’s happening at all. It’s nice to feel like some kind of equilibrium has been hit, and that it’s a bit different but a bit the same as what it is at home. Also, it’s great to not be constantly missing home all the time – of course I miss family, friends and Perth itself, but it’s no longer at the front of my mind constantly and stressing me out. Not really looking forward to all the changes that next semester will bring though; everyone is going on exchange and Hintze 3 is going to be weirdly different after the break. And man the bloody room drama – at least Jesse is moving up, but I wish Charlotte was too, but also there was the whole beef with Will and blergh it’s just been annoying.

Speaking of that drama – one of the changes this sem is that I’m not as close to Will as I was before. We kinda grew apart, in part from me getting tired of having him hover all the time wanting to talk about Perth and music, and I don’t think he’s all too happy about it – he apparently things ‘I’ve changed’. But like what else is to be expected? People change and grow up, and normally friendships change to reflect that…I’m not really sure what to do about it. I’m just glad that he won’t be moving to Hintze. The whole room drama just felt very childish…

I think that’s it from me for the moment – Jesse’s just wandered in asking me to chill. Kathryn’s leaving tomorrow so should probably go hang out – things are going to be so weird next sem without her and everyone else ! But yeah. Will try and update soon.
