There is a part of me that is delighted that season 4 is coming out so late in the year - that way I can be in denial about tua ending for much longer.
On the other hand, I don’t know if I have the emotional bandwidth to handle another six months of anticipation. I may go insane.

~U m b r e l l a       A c a d e m y~ FivexReader: “Stakeout” (Part 1)
Tumblr media
IMAGINE: After discovering the apocalypse and getting transported back into the present, Five and (y/n) make it their mission to stop the doomsday clock and save not only their family, but the entirety of the world as they know it.
No ever thought anything like this would ever happen. Everyone assumed the other was content with the lives they were forced to live. Well, everyone except Five. He was very secretive or quiet with his hate for this lifestyle. It started off as a regular day in the Hargreeves residence.
Mother had just finished making breakfast as she rang the bell and all 8 of us raced down the stairs to see who could try and get to their assigned seat first. Of course we couldn’t sit down yet- we had to wait until our father sat down. He would then nod his head, giving us the green light.
Things were going as good as anything can get there. Breakfast was good. The usually smell of eggs and bacon was almost comforting. Until Five decided enough was enough. He slammed his knife into the table, causing the bottom of it to stick straight up.
All of our eyes went wide. Well, everyone’s except mine. I just slouched back in my chair and rolled my eyes. Even 15 year old me was fed up with Five’s shenanigans.
Me and Five were very close. Closer with each other than we were with anyone else in the family. Me, being Number 8, always got picked on for being the last number. But Five would always tell me I had the coolest powers to cheer me up. I had telekinetic powers.
There was this “unspoken thing” between me and Five as Klaus would call it- We were also pretty close with him.
Me and Five liked each other, as more than friends of course. But it was forbidden. It was our fathers rule to “keep it professional” even though we were only kids. That’s one reason why Allison and Luther’s relationship never went anywhere.
The other reason being they were both too shy to admit their feelings. Whereas Five, a person with no filter whatsoever, used to tell me all the time. He told me everything and anything. Five used to slip notes under my door, telling me to meet him after hours.
When everyone was asleep I would open his door to find him waiting for me on his bed, wearing a plain white t-shirt and gray sweatpants, just like the rest of us (Father picked those outfits out as well).
We would lay on our backs side by side on his decent sized mattress and talk about anything that came to mind. Sometimes he would say to me, “I wish we could be together,” as if telling someone you liked them was as simple as telling someone about their day.
But that’s what I liked about him. He was open. Honest. Because we told each other everything, he would always rant to me about how father won’t let him time travel.
So I knew the moment he stood in front of the upright knife with his fist clenched, he was angry about just that.
“Number Five?”
“I have a question.”
Father continued to eat his breakfast as if this were a normal, everyday thing. But it wasn’t. “Knowledge is an admirable goal, but you know the rules. No talking during mealtimes. You are interrupting Herr Carlson.” Five rolled his eyes and responded sternly, “I want to time travel.”
“No.”
“But I’m ready! I’ve been practicing my spatial jumps, just like you said!” Five then proceeded to teleport from his seat, over to the right side of fathers chair. “See?”
Father sighed and took the fork of eggs away from his mouth as he began to lecture Five. “A spatial jump is trivial when compared with the unknowns of time travel. One is like sliding along the ice, the other is akin to descending blindly into the depths of the freezing water and reappearing as an acorn.”
“Well I don’t get it.”
“Hence the reason you're not ready.” Father stated as he took a sip of his grape wine.
Five looked over to me, his angered look immediately going soft. I shook my head, trying to tell him not to go any further. He looked like he was actually considering it, but the moment he looked away, all considerations faded.
“I’m not afraid.”
“Fear isn’t the issue. The effects it might have on your body, even on your mind, are far too unpredictable.” Father then threw his utensils onto his plate making them clatter loudly and he faced Five and yelled, “Now I forbid you to talk about this anymore!”
Five gave me one last look, almost like he was apologizing for something, and then ran off, causing all heads to turn.
“Number Five! You haven’t been excused!”
Of course Five didn’t listen. Why would he listen to our so-called father who didn’t even bother to give us real names, only numbers? But maybe he’ll listen to me. Without thinking, or waiting for consent, I got up from my seat and ran after him.
“Number 8!”
After yelling his name over and over again, Five finally turned around, his cheeks red with anger. “Five, where are you going?”
“Away.”
“What do you mean ‘away’? You're just gonna leave everything?” Five didn’t answer.
“You-“ I began to try and speak again but my voice was breaking. I can’t let him see me like this. I cleared my throat and tried again. “You’re just going to leave me?”
Five’s eyes moved from his untied shoelace to my eyes. His gaze softened again and he slowly reached out for my hand.
“I’m sorry. You didn’t deserve this.”
And then it happened. It’s kind of all a blur really. All I remember is him letting go of my hand and the blue light surrounding him.
I desperately reached out to grab his hand but all I could touch was the sleeve of his uniform. And before I knew it, I had time traveled into the future with him. Every building was crumbled and in ruins.
There were occasional fires here and there. After finding all of our family dead, the only evidence we found was an eye that Luther's dead corpse was holding in his hand. We spent 30 years together in that shithole.
At first it was hell. He was mad at me for being there because it “wasn’t safe” and “I should be at home”. I was just trying to stop him from making decisions that he insisted WEREN’T stupid. Look where that got us.
Eventually we met Dolores. She’s the only friend me and Five ever had. Especially when you grow up as a “baby superhero” as Diego would call us. We never went to school, birthday parties, play dates.
We lived a life that was far from normal, so we were very thankful for Dolores. Eventually me and Five made up, started dating even.
43 years later, Five then made an equation to help us time travel back home and even after Dolores told him a million times that his equation was inaccurate he still used it anyway, causing me and him to go back to recent times.... but in our 15 year old bodies.
After reuniting with our family and almost getting murdered by some of Five’s old co-workers, we are now trying to figure out who the eye belongs to so we can try to stop the apocalypse from destroying our world and everyone in it.
—————————————————————
“I knew this was a waste of time. I mean what did I expect her to do? Help us?” (y/n) and Five walked away from Vanya’s apartment complex.
They had tried telling her about the apocalypse and where the couple had been for the past 16 years, thinking she was the only one they could trust, but it was too much information for her to handle. She didn’t even know how to respond to them.
“Well, Five, how did you expect her to respond? Did you think she was going to understand everything immediately? We’ve been gone for the past, what, 16 years? For them at least. For us it was 43.”
“I understand that, but you’d think she would have something to say or questions at least!” (y/n) nodded in agreement. “Let’s just go to the laboratory and find out who this eye belongs to.”
Five nodded as well and grabbed her hand. He then teleported them to the front steps of the laboratory. (y/n) let go of his hand and began to walk up the steps, but he pulled her back and wrapped his hand around hers as he tried to keep his eyes forward and act normal.
Even though every touch, although some small, makes his heart beat 10 times faster and the heat to rise to his cheeks. (y/n) just giggled and kissed his cheek, that soon began to turn a slight shade of pink.
They walked through the doors, hand in hand, with hopeful smiles on their faces.
—————————————————————
“What. An. Idiot.” Five said angrily as he stomped down the steps. (y/n) and Five had attempted to ask the guy for the name of the owner of the eye, but he insisted that he could not give out that information. And when the man looked me up and down, Five got a little violent and they called security.
“Well maybe if you hadn't threatened to ram the guy's head into the wall, we probably would’ve actually gotten somewhere.” (y/n) stayed as she sat on the steps and watched as Five paced back and forth, attempting to think of another plan.
“Wha- i- He was looking at you in a way that no older man should be looking at a 15 year old!” Five shouted pointing toward the doors to the lab. He then sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose instead. “Alright. Fine.
Let’s just... go with plan B.”
“Which is....?”
—————————————————————
“You want me to do what?”
“Klaus, please! This is important!” (y/n) said, folding her hands like she’s begging.
“So you want me... to go to this laboratory.... and pretend to be your dad so you can, what, find the name of the person who owns an eyeball that you found in the future?”
Five and (y/n) shared a look and shrugged. “Yes...?” After a moment of silence Klaus finally spoke up. “I’m too sober for this. I am NOT going to do this.”
—————————————————————
“I can’t believe I’m doing this.” Klaus said frustratedly as he, Five, and (y/n) walked down the familiar hallways of the laboratory. “You’ll do anything that involves you getting paid, won’t you?” Five snapped. “Hey 20 bucks is a great deal don’t you think?” Klaus turned to (y/n) and she shrugged then nodded her head.
They eventually made it to Mr. Big’s office, which was the same guy Five threatened. “I’m sorry but without the client’s consent, I simply can’t help you.” Five stood up and angrily responded, “Well we can’t get consent if you don’t give us a name.”
“Well that’s not my problem. Sorry now there’s really nothing I can do, so-“ Before the guy could finish, Klaus interrupted. “And what about my consent?”
“Excuse me?” My. Big’s replied confused. “Who gave you permission... to lay your hands... on my children?” He began to fake cry as me and Five looked at each other, and then at Klaus with a confused look. “Wha- I’m sorry?”
“You heard me.”
“I didn’t touch your children!”
“Oh really? Then how did my son get that swollen lip then?” Klaus stands up and faces Five. “He doesn’t have a swollen-“ Klaus brings his arm back and punches Five hard in the mouth. (y/n) gasps, but doesn’t move from her seat, trying her best to play along with whatever it was Klaus was doing.
Five touched his hand to his mouth, looking at the blood on it. He looked like he was going to kill Klaus right then and there. “And as for my daughter!” Klaus began to look at me with his arm pulled back, ready to hit, but before it reached her face (y/n) grabbed his fist and yanked it forward so his face was close to hers and she whispered, “Touch me, and I’ll kick your *ss.” Klaus just smiled and backed away.
“What about your daughter?” Klaus looked at me with a smirk and I began to fake cry. “H-He touched me! He tried to rape me!” Five smirked as well as he wrapped an arm around my waist and Klaus laughed with joy.
“You guys are crazy.”
“You have no idea.” (y/n) replied chuckling slightly. Everyone watched as Klaus picked up a snow globe that was sitting on the man's desk and he read it. “‘Peace on earth.’ That's so sweet.” He then smashed it onto his head causing it to shatter and his head to bleed. I jumped slightly at the noise and Five’s grip on my waist tightened as if to reassure me it’s ok.
“God that hurt.” Klaus groaned. When the guy reached for the phone on his desk and typed in a number, most likely security again, Klaus took it out of his hands and held it up to his ear. “There’s been an assault...” he “cried”, “in Mr. Bigs office and we need security, now. Schnell!” He yelled then threw the phone down and shook his head to try and make the blurry vision go away.
“Now here’s what’s gonna happen Grant.”
“I-It’s Lance... actually.”
“In about 60 seconds, two security guards are gonna burst through that door, and they’re gonna see a whole lot of blood and a distraught little girl, and they’re gonna wonder ‘What the hell happened?’” Five looked me up and down, smirked, then looked over to the man. “And we’re gonna tell them that you... beat the shit out of us and RAPED our little girl!” Klaus continued to fake cry but it turned into a laugh when he saw the man's terrified expression.
“You're gonna do great in prison, Grant. Trust me, I’ve been there.” Lance just gave him a weird look but Klaus continued. “Little piece of chicken like you. Oh my god you're gonna get passed around like a......” he tried to think of something to say but couldn’t do he just brushed it off.
“You’re just- you're gonna do great. That’s all I’m saying.”
“Jesus, you’re a real sick bastard.” Lance replies.
Klaus’ face went stone cold as he responded, “Thank you.” And spit a piece of glass from his mouth. (y/n) walks over to his desk and leans down close to his face, to where her slightly unbuttoned uniform shows her cleavage. She reaches her hand past him, resting her arm on his shoulder, as she tries to reach the small drawer behind him to get a lollipop.
She can hear his unsteady breathing which makes her want to throw up, because he’s actually somewhat liking this 15 year old girl seducing him, but also smirk because her plan is working.
Her fingers finally wrap around a lollipop and she whispers with a smile, “It’s a pleasure doing business with you.” She pulls back, unwraps the lollipop and puts it in her mouth. She then throws the wrapper onto Lance and walks out of the room with a sway of her hips. Five stared at her in awe and Klaus winked at the guy.
Finally, Lance took them to where all of the files are. Five stood in front of the desk, Klaus sat on the other side, facing Lance and all the files, and (y/n) propped her elbows up on the end of the desk, her chin resting on one of her fists as she watched the man as he searched through the drawer.
“That’s strange.”
“What?” Five demands.
“Well, the eye hasn’t been purchased yet.”
“That is strange.” Klaus says standing up and circling Lance to make him nervous.
“This can't be right. It hasn’t even been manufactured yet. Where did you get that eye?” He asks looking up from his files and at Five.
He just shakes his head.
—————————————————————
“Well this is not good.” (y/n) says as the three of them walk back down the steps of the lab. “I was pretty good, though, right? ‘Oh ya? What about my consent bitch?’” Klaus laughed, trying to re-enact the scene from earlier.
“Klaus, it doesn’t matter.”
He just rolls his eyes and responds, “What’s the deal with this eye anyway? Why is it so important to you?”
“Someone out there is going to lose an eye in the next seven days.” (y/n) responds as Five finishes.
“Exactly. They’re gonna bring about the end of life on this earth as we know it.”
Klaus was listening, but didn't really understand what it meant. He didn’t try to understand because he doesn’t really care. He just wants his money.
“Yeah whatever. Hey, can I just get my 20 bucks, like, now?”
“Your 20 bucks?” (y/n) asked as Five rolls his eyes.
“Yeah my 20 bucks.”
“Unbelievable. I give up.” She throws up her arms and walks back to the steps and sits down. She rests her elbows on her knees and her chin rests on one hand while the other hand holds her unfinished lollipop.
“The apocalypse is coming, and all you can think about is getting high?” Five snaps. “Well I’m also quite hungry.” Klaus rubs his stomach then makes a growling noise. “You're useless.” Five shakes his head and walks over to (y/n), sitting next to her and stretching his legs out in front of him.
“Oh come on. You need to lighten up, old man.” Five signs and grabs (y/n)’s free hand, placing their intertwined hands in his lap and gently rubbing her hand with his other. “Hey you know, I’ve just realized why you're so uptight. You must be horny as hell!” Klaus laughs as if he’s just discovered a new scientific discovery.
(y/n) and Five just look at him and then continue on with what they’re doing. “All those years by yourself. It’s gotta screw with your head being alone.”
“I wasn’t alone. I had (y/n).” (y/n) smiles a little and stares down at their hands. “Perfect! Well why don’t y’all get together and... we’ll ya know!”
“You know what? Your right Klaus.”
“I-I am?”
“He is?” (y/n) asks, standing up with Klaus. “Of course he’s right. He’s always right. Well, we best be on our way then!” Five grabs (y/n)’s hand and pulls her towards the road, leaving Klaus there with a surprised look on his face. “Hope you don’t mind if we use your bed! Thanks!”
“Wait... what?!” But before Klaus could say anything else Five teleports himself and (y/n) into a taxi. “Wait no! Not my bed! Also I need my 20 bucks!” Klaus yells, running after the car. (y/n) just rolls up the window and waves as Five pulled her into his lap and kisses her jaw, then her neck, then her collar bone, and goes back up.
“Was it true what you said?” (y/n) asked, smirking. “Not entirely.”
“Oh? How so?”
“Well, for starters, I wouldn’t say that I’m not horny but....”
“Mhm. And...?”
“And that is NOT the reason why I’m ‘uptight’.” Five says pouting a little. (y/n) just laughed and they continued to kiss. When they were completely out of sight, Klaus ran his hands through his hair.
“Shit.”

Reacting to Legacies 3x03 (SPOILERS):
1. So ARE we FINALLY getting to some proper firstborn Mikaelson witch breakdowns?
2. Oh well, apparently no. They'll just try to wave it off as some one time thing probably.
3. So Hope and Landon are on a break. Okay. TBH watching them sass each other is interesting.
4. The guidance counselor is pretty much a compulsion monster, is that it? Well, I do like his wardrobe.
5. Alyssa's concern for MG is so fake I can't.
6. Nobody other than Jed read for Stefan? THE DISRESPECT.
7. Lizzie playing Caroline makes total sense but them asking Josie to play the lead without even an audition looks a bit bad TBH. Like, give the other interested people a chance, at least.
8. I find it a bit repetitive how there are mind-controlling monsters popping out again and again.
9. So MG is basically going through a phase similar to what Cami was going through when Klaus used to compel her at the beginning of TO. Considering Quincy's fondness for Cami, he must have liked playing that.
10. I understand that Landon is supposed to be a capable songwriter in-universe but it takes more than that to write and direct a musical and it's very weird that they didn't even find a guest star to pose as a Drama or English teacher who is guiding him or something. WHERE ARE ALL THE TEACHERS?
11. I kinda feel like some of the lead characters in this show are colour-coded. I see Hope and Landon in red and blue a lot (the two gowns we have seen Hope wearing also fall into this pattern) and Josie wears yellow in like, every other episode. If I recall correctly, Lizzie wears a lot of white, too. I wonder what the reasoning behind these choices are.
12. Well, I liked Hope and Landon's relationship in S1, I have no idea what was going on with it in S2, and I still don't know what to think about it.
13. Lizzie casts herself in Caroline's role and then chokes at rehearsal. Not totally unrealistic but still feels a bit forced to me. Would have been better if Landon cast her because she's Caroline's daughter and Lizzie was a bit apprehensive in the first place because she didn't want to mess up the role.
14. I appreciate the show taking a moment to talk about Lizzie's bipolar disorder though. It's been a while.
15. "Bonnie just disappears for long periods of time"? Dude, she's still super important and you're putting her in the play. Right? RIGHT?!
16. Landon, THANK YOU for pointing out how weird Caroline and Alaric's relationship was. The guy deadass got engaged to her and had a pissing contest over her with Stefan, that will never not gross me out.
17. So the monster is mind controlling Landon to put Klaus into the play. Saw this coming IG.
18. Hope is painting again, like her dad used to do when he felt things were going out of control. I've been rewatching TO and this is making me so emotional. I MISS KLAUS AND HIS SHENANIGANS. And not a single character on Legacies comes close to Klaus, Elijah and Hayley for me. (Sorry if this hurts anyone's feelings but Legacies really is a downgrade from TVD and TO)
19. Ugh, why would he use the contents of the letter as lyrics? Dude, is it because you're mind-controlled? No, I don't like this. Klaus loved Hope to the ends of the earth and wanted everyone to know but Hope wants to keep things private, and her wishes should have been respected.
20. So apparently Landon tries not to put Klaus' villainous antics into the show. Well, okay, it's definitely a copout but since he is Hope's boyfriend, makes sense. But I don't understand why the musical HAS TO BE about the Salvatore school. The accreditation excuse is lazy, writers! Also, Landon, my dude, Klaus was a major donor of the school. Put that in instead of the other things, stop pissing off your girlfriend FFS. Even if you're mind-controlled 🤦🏻‍♀️
21. I do find it funny how Landon is all gaga over Klaus' use of language though. The guy really did have the best lines, didn't he? (Tied with Elijah, I suppose, for me)
22. The other singers of the first song are really good so Kaylee sounds a bit rusty in comparison. Also, she reminds me too much of Dark!Josie with the hair and makeup. From a distance, she can be mistaken for Nina though.
23. I love that the backstage activities are being shown.
24. I'm digging Jed as Stefan and I really like his singing voice. And the Hero Hair wig cracked me up. Kaleb is obviously good at singing at it's nice to hear more from him. I also like how Chris Lee didn't try to exactly emulate Ian and played Damon how someone who has only heard about him might play him.
25. Is Hope painting herself before the pit or something? Or is this supposed to symbolize her despair at her parents' loss? ALSO, I WANT SOMEONE TO MENTION HAYLEY :( Why is Hayley so ignored?!
26. The same person probably wrote MG's notes and Caroline's letter IRL and therefore, in-universe, MG has Caroline's handwriting and it's funny to me.
27. Jenny sings well, I like it. I don't understand the song though, was Caroline actually ever feeling this insecure? I feel like the song became a lot more about Lizzie than her mother. (It's been forever since I watched TVD, if anyone has yet to guess, I prefer watching TO)
28. The doppelganger thing cracked me up.
29. Wait why did the monster attack Josie?! Ohhhh he's forcing Landon to improvise and put Klaus' song at the end. Well, I guess it makes it seem a bit less like Landon's fault. But would Hope know that?
30. It's hilarious how they lowkey make a call back to Nina leaving TVD and them having to put Elena in a sleep spell though.
31. Landon having a hissy fit is funny to me. Aria needs more comedic scenes.
32. Wait, where did Jade come from? Has she been in the school all these weeks?
33. While the scene seems a bit shabby to me, Klaus talking to Hope reminds me of their scene from TO 4X03. I needed more of Summer Fontana and Joseph Morgan together. Also, the donation did get mentioned, YASSSS. Man did some horrific things but he did fund the school so maybe a little less badmouthing in the presence of his daughter now that you know the story, eh, students?
34. The fact that the guidance counselor actually wore a leather jacket and a henley is cracking me up. It's really bizarre.
35. "Terrible painter" XD Klaus would have eaten you for saying that if he were alive.
36. Um, Hope, wouldn't you ask your family if you are doing enough to make your father proud, instead of this random bloke who supposedly met him once?! Maybe call Freya or Rebekah.
37. Why is this monster being nice to Hope? Doesn't it try to break people up or something? You'd think he'd try to piss her off even more and ruin her relationship with Landon.
38. Stefan was trying to be more like Damon by sacrificing himself? Um, what?
39. Well, this musical at least gave Stefan and Caroline a goodbye scene. I wonder how much the twins remember Stefan, must have been a bit emotional for Lizzie to play that. Jenny's singing was gooood, really liked it.
40. JED WAS GONNA KISS LIZZIE AND I WANTED IT TO HAPPEN. But a forehead kiss does work.
41. Hope's playing Elena now? What?
42. Ngl I want Hope and Jed to be friends. She needs more of a connection to her wolf side. Both of her parents wanted her to be surrounded by wolves and she's barely interacting with the wolves in this show, which always makes me sad.
43. So this monster can also do little spells and move physical objects eh? Whatever, this is random.
44. And this monster brings people back together? Why?
45. So when Hope is singing, is she doing it as Elena or Hope? She came on stage as Elena, but I thought the song is about Hope. So WHAT IS IT?
46. Oh Damon's on stage, so Hope is singing as Elena and it's a call back to the graveyard scene from the TVD finale.
47. Danielle sings pretty well. It's good she decided to perform this time.
48. Okay, that lifting up scene was adorable. I feel like Hope and Landon are at their cutest when they're a bit spontaneous. But she's Elena on stage and it lowkey looks like Landon crashed her romantic scene with Damon to kiss her so I'm cackling.
49. How much older is Jade supposed to be than Josie?
50. So is Josie going to leave the school for a while and that's why Ethan will be back in the picture?
51. Jade used to babysit Josie? Okay, it is hella awkward.
52. Josie why, don't do this, yikes. Kissing her once doesn't make it non-creepy.
53. The Sheriff feels kinda shoehorned to me. Also, I don't care for Matt Davis or his character.
54. So Candice did the voiceover for Caroline's letter. That's nice for the show. I still don't understand why the letter showed up in Hope's fireplace though LOL.
55. This episode should have spent more time exploring the aftermath of the loss of Rafael. The abrupt shift from the last episode wasn't nice.
56. Yeah, kids, talk out your problems, thanks.
57. I feel like Klaus is too much of a controversial figure that Hope's conflict about her father's reputation would be resolved in one day. This is feeling undercooked. Speaking of, when is one of Klaus' or Hayley's enemies coming after Hope, because she did inherit all of them. Would make for better storytelling than this monster of the week nonsense. And yeah, still no mention of Hayley, I hate this.
58. The monster's characterization was really odd to me and I am so tired of this format SMH.
59. So they toyed with MG for weeks to get a vampire for the spell? That sounds like too much effort. There are tons of vampires from Klaus and Rebekah's bloodline, they couldn't find another? Also, I wonder who is the wolf that they will use.
Well, I felt like this episode was mostly okay, but not that well-cooked or epic or whatever. What is horrific is that they didn't show Bonnie, though. They could have at least gotten a female black guest character who is one of the witch students or something. This is very offensive.
Also, I don't think it makes sense for the show to do any more musicals in the future. This ain't Riverdale.

Tumblr media
As 2020 is nearing, it’s time to see what 2019 has brought us when it comes to gay representation in tv shows and movies. Below ‘read more’, there’s a whole list of tv shows/ships/movies (with pictures and basic description) which include/are about gay (used as an umbrella term) men and couples (so basically have gay storylines and at least one gay person is a main character of the show/movie).
Since I’m a gay man, I keep up mostly with mlm, if I included wlw as well, I don’t think the list would be complete with my lack of knowledge, so sorry about that. I’m pretty sure there are more competent people who can do that instead of me.
Total Count of TV Shows in the list: 65 Total Count of Movies in the list: 27
 Anyways, here we go.
TV SHOWS
TV SHOWS WITH TITULAR/CENTRAL GAY CHARACTERS/SHIPS
The Other Two: the funniest most-relatable show centered around three siblings – one of them is gay (left). A must-watch for sure. He’s pretty much the hugest part of the show, there are some love storyline (...and they were roomates), some self-loving moments and iconic lines. Just watch it, you won’t regret it.
Tumblr media
Sex Education: show about two best friends, one of them (right) is gay. His name is Eric and he gets involved with his enemy Adam (left). Amazing show.
Tumblr media
Special: show about a gay man Ryan (right) with mild cerebral palsy, who wants to live his life as an independent person to the fullest. Easy and short show to watch.
Tumblr media
Druck (German SKAM Remake): if you don’t know SKAM, it’s pretty much a show where each season is devoted to one character. Third season of German SKAM aired this year and it was revolved around a gay guy (left). For the first time in SKAM history, the main character’s love interest is a trans guy (right).
Tumblr media
Skam France (French SKAM Remake): the French version of SKAM had a gay season this year as well.
Tumblr media
WTFock (Belgian SKAM Remake): Belgium has a season focused on the main gay character this year as well.
Tumblr media
El corazón nunca se equivoca: I’m pretty sure you’ve heard of Aristemo from ‘Mi marido tiene más familia’. Well, they’d already aired the first season of the new spin-off centered around their lives in college (I think).
Tumblr media
Merlí: Sapere Aude: Bruno (left) and Pol (right) fans, it’s time to make some noise. Brunol is coming back because Pol is getting a spin-off which will be taking place in university. Bruno will be in it as well. First episode airs on 5th of December this year.
Tumblr media
Pose: second season of Ryan Murphy’s popular show with main transgender and gay characters has aired this year.
Tumblr media
The Politician: another show from Ryan Murphy was created. The main protagonist of the show (right) is played by Ben Platt and he’s gay. The show contains many LGBT+ main characters.
Tumblr media
Tales of the City: the revival of the Tales of the City sequence of miniseries aired this year. The show includes many LGBT+ storylines.

Tumblr media
Years and Years: very futuristic show with a political message. Includes both mlm and wlw as main characters.
Tumblr media
The Red Line: the plot of this show involves a white cop in Chicago who mistakenly shoots and kills a black doctor named Harrison. Harrison had a husband (left) and daughter (right). The show deals with the consequences of the event.
Tumblr media
Now Apocalypse: all I’m gonna say is that Beck from Victorious got to make out with Scott from Teen Wolf, Matty from Awkward and Jake from Glee. The show was renewed for second season and later this statement was taken back and it got cancelled – which I guess says enough about the show.
Tumblr media
This Close: the show is about two best friends who are deaf. One of them (left) is gay and has a storyline and spicy scenes with the guy on the right and some other guys as well.
Tumblr media
Schitt’s Creek: David (right) and Patrick (left) aka the cutest softest couple of all time. The last season of the show will air next air. Watch the show if you wanna laugh and watch the healthiest gay couple on tv. They also got engaged this year, which was beautiful.
Tumblr media
NEW TV SHOWS (1 SEASON) WITH MAIN GAY CHARACTERS/SHIPS
Daybreak: both main characters and basically on different sides of the battles. Who wouldn’t want to watch enemies being in love Romeo & Juliet style.
Tumblr media
El Juego de las Llaves (The Game of Keys): very interesting and fun show to follow, the one on the right is the main character. He’s closeted, has a girlfriend and gradually realizes there’s something else out there. Nice kissing scenes, plus one very spicy scene. Doesn’t hurt that the guy on the left he will be involved with looks like a dollar store Chris Evans if you squint hard enough.
Tumblr media
Five Bedrooms: 5 strangers moves in. The guy in the middle is gay. His mom is a very traditional Indian woman who just wants grandchildren. The whole show is heart-warming and sad at times. The guy gets fair share of screentime and some love interests including a cop from the neighbourhood.
Tumblr media
Made In Heaven: Indian show that follows the lives of Tara and Karan (left), two wedding planners in Delhi running an agency named Made in Heaven. Karan is gay. Very progressive show with spicy gay scenes.
Tumblr media
What/If: haven’t seen the show yet but friends said these two have a nice storyline in the show. Threesome included.
Tumblr media
Bonding: show about two best friends Pete (left) and Tiff (right). Pete is gay. They basically... do freaky shit for work... umm. Just watch trailer or something.
Tumblr media
Osmosis: I have no idea what the show is about but the guy on the left is set to betrying to find a soulmate or something. I think I remember seeing some spicy scenes.
Tumblr media
Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists: basically some gay romance with the guy on the right and someone else. The one on the left dies the first episode so I did not even bother after that. But you can be the judge of it.
Tumblr media
Doom Patrol: Larry (left) is a superhero, kinda. There’s something haunting his past, though. Something that involves being gay.
Tumblr media
The Umbrella Academy: Klaus (left) my favorite character. He’s kind of a hero along with his other siblings. There’s a deep gay storyling along the way.
Tumblr media
Weird City: anyways... all I’m gonna say is that Dylan O’Brien played a gay for one episode in a show. Wish there wasn’t this huge ugly age difference.
Tumblr media
Roswell, New Mexico: cowboys, aliens, bisexuality, homosexuality and all that. Didn’t really see the show but there’s a lot of content with these two.
Tumblr media
Good Trouble: never saw the sow but the guy on the picture is a main bisexual characters. There are some mlm scenes.
Tumblr media
The Society: Grizz (right) and Sam (left) literally the highlight of the show. Just watch it, it is worth to see it for both of them. Sam is also deaf. The show is basically about a bunch of teenagers getting stuck in a town with no one else in or around.
Tumblr media
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series: The High School Musical tv show has just started airing on Disney+. Carlos (left) is confirmed to be gay and to be getting a nice development this season which will probably involve Seb (right) as well.
Tumblr media
The Heights: Australian tv show. Sully (left) is gay. Got a thing for Ash (right) at the start. Then things were messy. Then they suddenly kissed. And the things are messy again.
Tumblr media
El Club (The Club): very interesting show. The gave these two really (like REALLY) spicy scenes. Some romantic stuff. But there’s really not much depth in my option. Check and see.
Tumblr media
Volevo fare la rockstar: didn’t see it but it’s an Italian show and there’s a romantic storyline between these two.
Tumblr media
No Good Nick: Jeremy (right) came out this year on this sitcom. Nice and very weid sitcom. Unfortunately it was cancelled, but the way they handled his gay storyline was rather nice.
Tumblr media
World on Fire: follows lives of ordinary people from Britain, Poland, France, Germany and the USA during World War II. Two of them are gay. And yeah one of those two is Will from sense8.
Tumblr media
TV SHOWS (1 SEASON+) WITH MAIN GAY CHARACTERS/SHIPS
Andi Mack: the show that made history. Andi Mack is a Disney Channel show and for the first time in Disney Channel history, Cyrus (right) came out using the word ‘gay’ and made it official with the recurring character TJ (left) this year. The two-season slow-burn was really worth it.
Tumblr media
Shadowhunters: Malec got married this year. Yay.
Tumblr media
Grey’s Anatomy: Levi and Nico still going strong.
Tumblr media
La Casa de las Flores (The House of Flowers): despite the first season making it seem like it was the end for Diego and Julián, that’s not the case. In season 2, they’re stronger than ever, the scenes are spicier than ever and the show is gayer than ever.
Tumblr media
Baby: first season was mostly focused on Fabio (face on right) realizing he’s gay. The second season has shockingly showed us that Brando (face on left) is gay as well. Very toxic ship so if you enjoy Gallavich this is probably for you.
Tumblr media
Élite: Omar and Ander continuing their journey.
Tumblr media
Shameless: Ian (up) and Mickey (down) came back to Shameless season 10 as main characters. About time.

Tumblr media
Ackley Bridge: they pretty much baited us with Cory (left) and Naveed (right) this season. They stayed just friends, but Naveed found a love interest, so that’s nice.
Tumblr media
Find Me In Paris: Never saw the show, but Jeff (on the picture) is gay and his love interest Isaac gets introduced in second season that aired this year.
Tumblr media
13 Reasons Why: Tony and Caleb going strong. It was also revealed that Monty (right) is a closeted gay and had a storyline with Winston (left). There’s probably more to come with them in next season.
Tumblr media
Insatiable: unfortunately they didn’t serve much Bob (right) & Bob this year. But they introduced detective Rudy (left) and there were some scenes and twists and turns. Whatever.
Tumblr media
Riverdale: I don’t care. Kevin (left) is still there. There are some gay charcters based on wiki, but yeah. Crumbs, I bet. Whatever.
Tumblr media
Charité: second season (which has the two main gay characters) takes place in Berlin in 1943. You don’t need to watch the first season at all, to understand the second one with them, it’s basically a stand-alone.
Tumblr media
Animal Kingdom: Deran and Adrian’s story coming to an end?
Tumblr media
The Magicians: Well, they killed off the central bi character Quentin (on the picture), so fuck them.

Tumblr media
REALITY SHOWS
Queer Eye: five gay guys helping others. Season 3, 4 and a special have aired this year.
Tumblr media
Are You the One?: for the first time in the show’s history, season 8 of this dating reality show had an all-sexually fluid cast this year. Which means mlm and wlw and anything else. Really fun show.
Tumblr media
MOVIES
Benjamin: don’t even remember what the movie was about but I rec because it was cute and I mean hello Merlin.
Tumblr media
Boy Erased: homosexuality and religion. Has a Troye Sivan in it. Very decent movie.
Tumblr media
And Then We Danced: my favorite gay movie of this year. All the things they had to do to be able to film this in homophobic Georgia (the country)... just wow. It’s a must-watch.
Tumblr media
Who Would You Take to a Deserted Island?: didn’t know what to expect from this movie. It is based on a play and it shows. Watch and be the judge of it. The acting was really highlight of the movie.
Tumblr media
This Is Not Berlin: hasn’t seen it yet since it was just officially released. But it is included in an LGBT+ section so... hopefully they didn’ lie.
Tumblr media
Rocketman: movie about Elton John with Taron Egerton and Richard Madden... I mean, phew.
Tumblr media
Un Rubio (The Blonde One): gonna watch this, apparently it’s amazing based on what some of my mutuals have said.
Tumblr media
The Death and Life of John F. Donovan: Jon Snow being gay and kissing Chris Zylka. Made by Xavier Dolan. A literal tripple threat. Genuinely enjoyed the movie and the soundtrack.
Tumblr media
Ranchlands: haven’t seen this but my friend said it’s amazing.
Tumblr media
Steam Room Stories: this movie was something... Eating Out levels of ‘I-’ but without all the sex. I guess watch this if you are bored.
Tumblr media
Posledice (Consequences): very spicy and intriguing movie. Slovenia snapped with this one.
Tumblr media
Papi Chulo: didn’t like this movie and the concept of it but... you can check out and see for yourself.
Tumblr media
Dolor y gloria (Pain and Glory): Antonio Banderas kissing a man. Hopefully it really is a gay-related movie because I haven’t seen it yet.
Tumblr media
Die Stropers (The Harvesters): brilliant cinematography but I expected much more from the movie.
Tumblr media
Giant Little Ones: what happens when you’re into your best friend’s sister but the best friend gives you a BJ. Well... watch and see.
Tumblr media
Kanarie (Canary): a war musical about a small town boy who gets chosen to serve his compulsory two year military training in the South African Defence Force Choir and Concert. Loved the involvement of the Boy George music, aesthetic and story. One of my favorites this year.
Tumblr media
Luciérnagas (Fireflies): haven’t seen it yet but the description says that the main gay character (right) “flees from persecution in Iran and ends up living in the tropical town of Veracruz.”
Tumblr media
El Angel: haven’t seen it but apparently there are some implications it was lowkey gay... so yeah.
Tumblr media
Dear Ex: from wiki “San Lian was devastated when she discovered her late ex-husband left his insurance payout to his male partner Ah Jie. She decided to bring her son to fight for their rights, but her son instead chose to stand on the other person's side.” Will watch this soon, sounds interesting.
Tumblr media
Sauvage: one of the best gay movies this year. Don’t know how to describe it so let me copy paste the description “ Léo is a sex worker who uses drugs whilst longing for love.”
Tumblr media
Sócrates: haven’t seen it yet as it was just released.
Tumblr media
Marilyn: story about a farm worker who discovers his sexuality in a hostile environment. Didn’t see it since someone has told me there are some scenes that are really HARD to stomach and I ain’t about that life.
Tumblr media
Les Crevettes pailletées (The Shiny Shrimps): the movie is about an Olympic swimming champion who makes a homophobic comment in a television interview, and is disciplined by the national swim team with the responsibility of coaching a gay water polo team who aspire to compete in the Gay Games. Sounds and looks like an amazing comedy and can’t wait to watch it when I will be able to.
Tumblr media
Fin de siglo (End of the Century): it’s not out yet as far as I know, but it’s about two men who meet in Barcelona and realize they have met already 20 years ago.
Tumblr media
Matthias et Maxime: another excellence by Xavier Dolan. Story about life-long friends who question their sexual identities after they kiss. Looks amazing and I can’t wait for it to get released finally.
Tumblr media
The Goldfinch: not a gay movie, but I’ve seen many people considering it as LGBT+ cinema because of the book and you know what, they kissed after all so you can perceive it beyond friendship if you want. If not, then just skip it. I feel like it is worth mentioning it tho.
Tumblr media
Mapplethorpe: movie is about the life of photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. Didn’t see it but Doctor Who plays him so there’s that.
Tumblr media
UPCOMING

Love, Simon: The Series: A Disney+ Love, Simon spin-off is on its way and will premiere in 2020. The guy on the left will most likely be his enemy.

Five years after Evangeline returned from the 15th century.
‘Bekah, really this is completely unnecessary.’ I tried to reason with her, but I wasn’t surprised when my protests seemed to fall on deaf ears.
‘It may not be necessary but that doesn’t mean it’s not happening.’ She winked, turning back to the owner of the cute little clothes store we’d found in the centre of the city. She was compelling her to let us have free run of the store, seeing as clothes were limited and she didn’t want to lose out on the perfect outfit to someone else.
While she did that, I wondered around, absentmindedly looking at the different clothes she had to offer. I had to hand it to her, everything was beautiful and all one of a kind, seeing as she made the clothes herself and only ever made ten of everything. Once they sold, that was it.
‘Find anything?’ I asked Elena when I reached her.
‘Oh my--,’ she cut off with a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart.
‘Sorry.’ I grinned, amused that after so many years of me being a vampire I could still startle her.
She shot me a look, clearly not believing my apology but she waved me off anyway.
‘You know, I’m surprised I can still startle you with your newfound heightened senses.’ I teased.
Elena had become a vampire a few years ago, after she had turned twenty. She had given it a lot of thought beforehand, and was content with her decision when she asked Stefan to turn her so that she could spend an eternity by his side. The younger Salvatore had been hesitant, but after my sister assured him that she had done nothing but think about it since she met him, he followed through with her request.
‘Well I was too busy wondering if this top would look cute on me.’ She protested, holding up a white and baby pink lace crop top.
‘It would not.’ Bekah interjected, sliding up next to me and holding out a similar style crop top but in red, ‘this colour suits your skin tone better.’
‘Thank you, Bekah.’ Elena smiled gratefully and put the reject back on the rack before adding the new addition to her basket.
I smirked in amusement when I realised that Elena had already gathered enough to fill half her basket, while Bekah had enough to warrant moving onto a third while I had nothing.
Bekah seemed to notice that too, ‘why haven’t you got anything in your basket yet? We only have another hour until we need to be back for dinner and the barbecue is tomorrow!’
‘I know,’ I sighed, running a hand through my hair, ‘I’ve never been good at picking out clothes for myself Bekah. I hate shopping.’
Elena and Bekah gasped dramatically, as if this was news to them, which of course it wasn’t. I rolled my eyes at their dramatics, but a small smile still found its way to my lips.
‘Well that’s easy enough. I’ll pick something for you.’ Bekah smiled, already wondering off to the back wall—I imagined she already had something in mind.
A few years ago, I would’ve tried to stop her, but I knew that she would only pick something that would compliment my figure and my personal tastes. She had a gift when it came to styling people, in any other time she could’ve been an amazing personal shopper. But then again, owning her own clothing line seemed more Bekah’s style.
‘So when are Stefan and Damon getting in?’ I asked, following Elena around while she browsed through the other options.
‘Tonight after dinner, which sucks but we can all probably watch a movie together.’ Elena replied, the excitement at the prospect of seeing her love leaking into her voice.
‘True, though it is Kol’s turn to pick this month. Probably means we’re gonna be stuck watching some gory horror movie.’ I rolled my eyes fondly—the younger Mikaelson loved watching scary movies to mock and point holes in the stories.
‘Better than Elijah’s documentary obsession.’ Elena joked. She wasn’t wrong, though. Elijah was fascinated with watching documentaries on anything—the last time it had been his pick, we sat through a two hour movie on how cans were made.
‘No arguments here.’ Bekah laughed, adding an armful of clothes to my basket.
I knew there was more than one outfit choice there, but I also knew better than to argue—she liked to add options for me to choose from, plus anything I didn’t want to wear tomorrow I could just wear some other time.
‘Thanks, Bekah.’ I smiled offering her a side hug, ‘you’re a godsend.’
Bekah snorted, commenting on the fact that no one had ever called her that in a thousand years. She offered me a kind smile though and I knew she was grateful for the compliment.
‘Well if everyone’s finished, I’m craving something sweet.’ Elena mused.
‘I know just the place.’ Bekah smirked; I could already feel my mouth watering at the prospect of pastries.
 //
‘So, how’s being newly married?’ Bekah asked my sister just as I’d taken a huge bit of one of the beignets from the centre of the table.
My eyes closed in pleasure and I couldn’t help the small moan that formed at the back of my throat from the taste. Heaven.
‘Great.’ Elena’s expression visibly lit up, as it always did when she spoke of her relationship with the younger Salvatore, ‘we’re actually thinking about moving to New Orleans permanently. Stefan wants to talk to you guys about it first, just to make sure it’s alright, but hopefully there won’t be an issue. I’m ready to move on from Mystic Falls, and I want to be closer to my second family, seeing as the only ones really left back home are me, Stefan, Damon and Bonnie.’
It was true; Jeremy and a few of his friends from school had decided to travel the world before committing to a college, and Jenna had moved back to Denver after Jeremy had graduated. The old house was currently being rented out by Jenna being as none of us had the heart to put it up for sale.
‘I don’t think that will be a problem, Elena you’re family.’ I assured her with a smile, honestly the thought of her moving to the city filled me with joy, ‘the Mikaelson’s love you like a sister, and Stefan and Nik have the biggest bromance going on, there should be zero issues.’
‘She’s right, Lena.’ Bekah assured her, her blue eyes sparkling with excitement—I imagined mine looked the same. The prospect of us all living in the same city all the time was just too wonderful to comprehend. Usually we had to made do with one weekend a month—that was the mandatory minimum for the whole family to meet up, no matter where they were in the world they had to be back for family weekend. Though to be fair, Elena, Stefan and Damon were the only ones who didn’t live in the city permanently, so that rule only really applied to them.
‘Do you think Bonnie will come to the barbecue?’ I wondered, sipping my caramel latte as I waited for an answer.
Bonnie was a somewhat touchy subject for the group. When I’d gathered the courage and will to go back to Mystic Falls to tell my family the truth about what had happened, Bonnie and Katherine were the only two who had an issue. Bonnie because she believed I’d defied the balance of nature by helping break a curse that had been in place for so long, and Katherine because she’d lost five hundred years bound to paranoia and fear.
It had taken some time, but eventually Bonnie realised that if the curse shouldn’t have been broken, the means to break it wouldn’t have existed. Katherine was more stubborn and even attempted to gather enough firepower from witches, vampires and werewolves to take Klaus and Elijah down. Of course, when they found out whom she wanted them to go up against they immediately backed out, a few even coming to New Orleans to warn the Mikaelsons of the potential threat—they didn’t want to go up against the strongest supernatural army in the world. Which was of course what the Mikaelson’s had built in New Orleans. It was the place that any species could come and live with different supernatural creatures in harmony. They did such a good job ruling it, fairly and with a genuine care for each and every person, that the loyalty they earned from each member of the city was unwavering. That was something Katherine hadn’t realised, until it was too late.
Klaus and Elijah had sent a few werewolves and vampires for her to “recruit.” Of course, it had been a ploy to lure her to New Orleans and once they had her, they gave her three options:
-       Give up her ploy for revenge and start living her immortal life without a thirst for repentance
-       Let herself be compelled to once again forget why she wanted vengeance
-       Or die.
Her rage had inevitably made the decision for her. After she had been given her options, I had returned to the compound after meeting Cami for a drink at Rousseau’s. My appearance reminded her of her hatred and she’d attempted to attack me immediately, before she could however Elijah had removed her heart while Klaus had flashed to my side, prepared to aid me should I need it. We had both stared at the elder Mikaelson in shock, but he simply dropped her heart and ordered for her body to be burned to ash.
I still remembered the conversation I’d had with him that night.
A few months after Evangeline returned from the 15th century.
I took a deep breath, trying to build up the courage to knock on his door, but I found myself shuffling from foot to foot. I was just about to bolt and return to bed with Nik when the door opened of its own accord.
‘Evangeline, is there something I can help you with?’ Elijah’s calm voice tampered a little of my anxiety, as did the absence of anger or sorrow in his eyes. But I didn’t let that fool me completely—I knew just as well as anyone that he was the best at withholding emotions from those closest to him.
‘I- I just wanted to apologise.’ I said, clearing my throat as my voice broke.
‘Whatever for?’ he gestured for me to enter his bedroom and I took a seat on one of the armchairs he had opposite his bed. Elijah himself perched himself on the foot of his bed, rolling his shirtsleeves up to his elbows as he awaited my response.
‘For Katherine. I know you cared for her once, and it’s my fault that nothing happened with her.’ I murmured, suddenly finding myself enamoured with the sleeves of the Henley that I was wearing that happened to belong to my hybrid.
‘If I ever cared for Katarina, it was because she reminded me of another life.’ Elijah said, the softness of his voice caused me to look up to him, ‘she reminded me of a time where my biggest worry was competing with my brother to win the affections of a woman who looked a lot like her.’
‘Tatia.’ I said, familiar with the story.
‘Indeed. When we were human my biggest concerns were trying to win Tatia’s hand in marriage, and protecting my siblings from our brute of a father. Katarina reminded me of that, and as a result caused me to yearn for that simplicity.’
 I nodded, somewhat understanding.
‘Of course, that changed when I realised that Niklaus was finding his humanity, due to a mysterious girl from the future.’ Elijah smiled knowingly at me, and I couldn’t help but look down, grateful that I couldn’t blush, ‘you see Evangeline, your appearance in our lives made me yearn for my life in the present. It made me yearn for a time that we could all sit down together as a family and be happy. Happier than we ever were when we lived in that small village in Mystic Falls over a thousand years ago. For the first time in a long time, I was excited by what the future would bring, rather than being consumed with dread over the prospect of witnessing my family commit heinous acts before my very eyes. You saved this family. And for Katarina to come along and try to inadvertently tear that apart, well you know by now… no one hurts my family and lives. And you, Evangeline are just as much a part of this family as I am.’
I knew that my cheeks were wet with tears but I didn’t care. In a flash I was hugging Elijah and unconsciously soaking his shirt with tears. He hugged me back and I found myself grateful and lucky to have been accepted into the Mikaelson family.
‘Thank you, Elijah.’ I murmured against his chest.
‘Always and forever, sister.’ He murmured back, placing a chaste kiss to the top of my head.
Back to five years after Evangeline returned from the 15th century.
That had been a few months after I returned from the past, and Elijah and I had only grown closer. He was like the big brother I had always wanted, and being accepted into the fold meant that I was also gifted with the huge family I’d always yearned for. I was immensely grateful, being as I’d given up on the idea of a big family when I’d been turned into a vampire. I was lucky, and a day didn’t go by where I wasn’t reminded of that.
‘No. She’s accepted everything and I know she understands, but she doesn’t want to be a part of it.’ Elena said, her bright expression dimming considerably at the reminder of her absent ex-best friend.
‘I’m sorry sweetie.’ I murmured, squeezing her hand comfortingly.
‘It’s okay. It’s her life to live, and she doesn’t want to live it immersed in the supernatural world like we do. That’s her choice and she’s well within her rights to make it.’ Elena murmured, her eyes conveying the sincerity behind her words.
It sucked, of course it did, but Elena was right. Bonnie was living her life like she wanted to—without vampires, hybrids and werewolves. Elena and I still loved her, but we knew it was just a part of life; some people are only meant to be in your life for a certain amount of time before you drift apart and they leave you with the memories you created together.
 //
‘Aren’t you ever going to tire of painting me?’ I murmured, partially amused and fond from where I leaned against the doorframe.
After lunch with my sisters, I’d returned to the compound and after placing my newly acquired clothes into our room, I went to find him. Where I found him wasn’t a surprise; he was in his art studio painting yet another portrait of me. My heart fluttered every time I saw him taking the time to put me onto another canvas; I’d been so overcome with love when he’d shown me the ones he’d painted in my absence that I’d been reduced to a puddle of tears. Nik still had yet to let me hear the end of that.
‘How could one ever tire of capturing such beauty?’ he grinned, his eyes sparkling with adoration as he turned to face me. In a flash I was at his side, my arm wound around his waist as I placed a chaste yet passionate kiss to his lips.
‘How was your day?’ he asked, pulling me against his chest and winding his arms around my waist.
‘Fine. Bekah picked out some clothes for me to wear tomorrow.’ I told him, my hands resting against his chest and my head against his shoulder.
He chuckled, ‘I don’t know why you go; you hate shopping.’
I hummed in agreement before adding, ‘but I love spending time with my sisters.’
‘Forgive me, I find it hard to imagine why anyone would enjoy Bekah’s company.’ He deadpanned, but broke out into a laugh when I lightly slapped his shoulder in reprimand.
‘Elena mentioned that her and Stefan were thinking of moving here.’ I grinned, my hands moving to his shoulders as I leaned back to meet his gaze.
‘Is that so?’ he said, his hands falling to my hips as a smile formed on his at the sight of my happiness.
I nodded, ‘she mentioned Stefan wanted to run it by you all first, but it you’re okay with it then they’re gonna come.’
‘Why would we have a problem?’ he mused, his eyes dancing with mirth.
‘I think it’s Stefan’s idea to be honest. Just to make sure they’re not stepping on any toes.’ I shrugged, not really understanding the need for permission myself.
‘Well I’d never deny them residence here and I doubt anyone else would either, lest they incur your wrath.’ He teased, grinning when I playfully glared at him.
‘I don’t know what you’re talking about.’ I said innocently.
It was true, of course. Over my time with the Mikaelson’s I’d gained a reputation. My temper was known to rival Nik’s when someone threatened or hurt my family. I’d always been protective, and that instinct had only become heightened when I’d become a vampire. And now I had a family that ruled New Orleans, we were bound to attract trouble, which led to my protective instincts rearing their head more often than I was used to. The Mikaelson’s, Nik especially, thought my ability to go from calm to a force that the devil himself would be intimidated by was hilarious. But I couldn’t help it. And I was happy to have found a family that understood and even rivalled my over protective tendencies. I thought back to the first time we’d incurred a threat after Katherine.
A year after Evangeline returned from the 15th century.
I woke up to the sun shining on my face, which wasn’t unusual seeing as Nik and I had a habit of forgetting to close the drapes. I smiled when I felt his arms still wrapped around me, his warmth seeping through the shirt of his I was wearing. I rolled over to face him and was unsurprised to see his eyes already open; it was rare that I awoke before him, but even though he woke before me most days, he preferred to stay and hold me until I woke up before he even thought of getting out of bed. I’d asked him about it before and he’d admitted to taking the time to bask in the gratitude he felt for finally being able to wake up with me in his arms. I’d held him tight after that.
‘Good morning my love.’ His voice was husky with sleep, and I couldn’t help the small shiver of desire that shot down my spine.
‘Good morning my hybrid.’ I murmured back, placing a kiss to his cheek, a wave of adoration washing over me at his bashful smile that always followed me calling him that.
That became my nickname for him not long after I found him again and he was able to finally reveal that he had broken his curse. At first, the reception had varied from fear to acceptance. Unfortunately the latter opinion was rare; Elena and everyone from back home had accepted it fairly quickly, though I assumed that Elena not needing to die for the curse to be broken was the main reason for that. It took a while for the factions of New Orleans to realise that Klaus being part werewolf as well as vampire made no difference to who he was as a ruler. When they did, the criticism, fear and disgust had dissipated. Though Nik liked to joke that my attitude towards those who criticised him was the main reason for that. I’d started calling him “My Hybrid” because I wanted him to know he had no reason to be ashamed of who he was, and to remind him that I loved every single part of him.
‘Do we have any plans today?’ I wondered, nuzzling into his neck, his scent keeping me in a state of contentedness. My eyes were starting to flutter shut again, and I found myself not wanting to fight it.
‘Actually, Sophie has contacted Elijah and informed us of a potential threat coming to New Orleans.’ Nik murmured, his lips against my hair.
‘Hmmm.’ I said, not really processing his words and placing a kiss onto the side of his neck.
He chuckled kissing my hair and pulling me tighter against him, ‘I should tell you of all potential threats after you’ve just woken up my love.’
‘Hmmm.’ I sighed as his hand starting to move back and forth across my lower back.
I thought I heard him chuckle again and it made me smile as I fell into unconsciousness.
 //
Kol and Bekah were doubled over in laughter where we were gathered in the courtyard of the compound. Klaus was laughing a lot less rambunctiously, while Elijah was a lot more reserved, though his amusement was still obvious on his expression.
‘I don’t bloody believe this.’ I muttered, shaking my head in exasperation, ‘are you having me on?’
‘No my love, we’re not.’ Nik’s dimpled smile eased my embarrassment a little, ‘I told you of the threat three days ago after you woke up. You must have still been half asleep.’
‘That’s cheating!’ I complained, slapping his shoulder, ‘you should’ve told me again when I was actually awake.’
‘Technically you were conscious.’ Kol pointed out, seeming to have recovered enough to add a comment.
‘Obviously not enough.’ I rolled my eyes and ran a hand through my hair, ‘now tell me about this threat.’
‘The De Martials are on their way to New Orleans.’ Elijah said solemnly and I nodded, familiar with the story.
The elder Mikaelson had informed Niklaus over what he had done a few centuries after I’d returned to the future, and Nik had told me a few months ago. Nik had definitely been furious but his rage had subsided when he realised why his elder brother had done what he’d done. It had been around that time that Nik had told his siblings the truth about what happened to their mother. The reactions to that news had varied. Kol hadn’t had much of one, Elijah had already known but Bekah had taken it the hardest. But after some time, she came to forgive him.
‘So they want revenge for the time they spent pretending to be you and leading Mikael astray.’ I summarised, the wheels in my head turning.
‘I’d imagine so.’ Bekah mused, coming to sit by me on the sofa and stretching her legs out over my lap. Kol came to sit on the other side of me and rolled his eyes at the intrusion of Bekah’s legs on his lap as well, but he didn’t protest.
‘Do you think Aurora might have other motivations?’ I asked, internally wincing at the insecurity in my voice.
‘If that psychotic bitch comes anywhere near you darling, I can assure you she will be torn limb from limb.’ Kol patted my shoulder for reassurance.
‘That’s not what I’m worried about.’ I rolled my eyes and then frowned, ‘why would she be interested in me? I doubt she even knows who I am.’
‘Over the years you were not with us, we were subtle and discrete over your existence, but evidently rumours did get out about you.’ Elijah explained, smiling at my wide eyes, ‘your name along with your importance to this family made you somewhat of a legend. Though, no one knew why, or even knew of anyone by the name of Evangeline, so it’s often been dismissed as a rumour.’
‘Until now.’ Nik murmured, his eyes on me and shining with concern.
‘And Aurora always was the jealous type.’ Bekah sneered.
‘I don’t care about me.’ I muttered; my only concern was with my family, ‘you’re basically invincible. If they’re coming for revenge now after all this time, that must mean they have a plan, one that they’re confident will work.’
‘We’ve faced many people over our thousand years, all of which intended to end us all, and yet we’re still here.’ Elijah murmured, smiling in assurance, ‘I assure you, this time will be no different.’
I wished I had his confidence, but I had a bad feeling about this and Nik must have sensed it because he held his hand out to me from where he was sat on the armchair. I shifted Bekah’s legs off me and moved to sit on his lap. His scent soothed my nerves like a balm—I’d always be grateful for how safe Nik’s arms made me feel. Especially in that moment because the absence of anxiety allowed me to think clearly and I had a plan.
 //
Nik: They’re here. Aurora left a body surrounded by lavender and a scavenger hunt for me to follow.
Kol: Tristan has made himself known; he’s already got the strix out looking for vampires descended from Elijah.
Elijah: The witches are preforming the spell now.
Me: Lucien has just walked into Rousseau’s.
Bekah: This is an insane plan; I just want that on the record.
Nik: Now is not the time. Focus.
Me: If anything bad happens, I just want you to know I love you all.
I slid my phone into the back pocket of my high-waisted jeans, subtly watching Lucien from where I sat at the bar, while Bekah was blending in with the crowd thanks to a glamour spell a witch had placed on her. My hair was down and wavy, cutting off at the bottom of my spine and offering me some comfort as it covered up the most of my back. The crop top had been Bekah’s idea, it was white, lacy and entirely too revealing but I was looking to gain the attention of Lucien.
A small smile formed on my lips as I noticed a family of tourists sitting by the window, a mother and father sat across from their twin daughters. They were all laughing and talking, enjoying their meal together. I felt a small wave of homesickness wash over me in that moment. I hadn’t seen my family in almost a year—not since I’d told them the truth about everything. We were still in touch, but I hadn’t seen them in the flesh for ten months, and I realised in that moment that I missed them. It wasn’t as bad as it could be, as I was already surrounded by family, but I found myself wondering if Elena, Jeremy and Jenna would be up for a weekend visit. Though it would be difficult to organise now; Elena was coming up to the end of senior year, Jeremy near the end of Junior, and Jenna was in the middle of writing her thesis. Though I’d heard from Elena that she was thinking of moving back to Denver after Jeremy was done with school. As the youngest Gilbert had already mentioned his desire to travel after he graduated, and with Elena potentially going to collage, Jenna would be in Mystic Falls all by herself. It wouldn’t be the same not having Jenna back home, but I understood her desire to move away being as the life she had before our parents died was in Denver.
‘Hello there darling.’ An arrogant sounding voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I looked to my right to see just the man I was looking for, now occupying the empty seat beside me.
‘Hello.’ I forced a smile and hoped the disgust didn’t show on my face. He was sitting far too close and his scent was overwhelming me. He smelled like he’d bathed in cologne and whiskey, it was so bad that I had to make due with breathing through my mouth. A pang of longing to be encased in my Hybrid’s scent overwhelmed me, but I forced myself to focus.
‘Now what’s a pretty thing like you doing in a place like this?’ He smirked, his breath fanning over my face. If I were still capable of vomiting, I would have in that moment.
‘You’ll have to be more specific. In this bar or in this city?’ I was being evasive, but I couldn’t help it.
‘This city, of course.’ He said, taking a sip of the drink in his hand.
‘I like it here.’ I shrugged, downing the shot of tequila Cami placed in front of me. Apparently seeming uninterested was a sure way to garner his attention, which was exactly what was needed. I leaned forward over the bar to grab the bottle of liquor that Cami had purposefully left within reach.
‘I’m starting to as well’ I rolled my eyes when I realised he was checking out my ass and when I fell back into my seat his eyes trailed over my chest. I fought the urge to cross my arms to try and cover up as I poured myself another shot.
‘How would you feel about coming back to my place later?’ he asked, his fingers trailing up and down my arm. I assume he mistook my shiver of disgust as pleasure, because his hand moved to my back, trailing up and down my spine and lightly tugging my hair.
Quick as a flash I held his wrist in mine, before he could react I snapped it like a twig, ‘I think I’d rather set myself on fire.’
‘You’re feisty I like that.’ He bit out as he reset his wrist with a click.
‘I’m leaving now.’ I huffed placing a hundred on the bar to cover my drinks and tip.
I shot Bekah a reassuring look before I left. I didn’t have to turn around to know he was following me; his pungent scent assured me he was.
It shouldn’t have been so simple, but it was. I led him into a trap; witches bought him to his knees while I turned and snapped his neck. After that, he was trapped in a basement with chains and boundary spells, where he would be bled out until the vervain was out of his system. Which shouldn’t take long for how fast the selected vampires were working on him. One down. Two to go.
 //
‘Nik?’ I called out as I entered the compound—he should have been back by now and I’ll admit the fact he wasn’t had me feeling both worried and insecure.
I was about to call him when the scent hit my nose—blood. Most importantly Nik’s blood. I followed it to his art studio—he was in the centre of the room a circle of salt hinting at the boundary spell that was around him. He was shirtless and the dried blood on his torso hinted at how much he had lost. Despite the overwhelming urge to go to him, I forced myself to focus, someone had obviously done this to him, but where were they? I didn’t have to look far. She had her back to me, which hinted at her arrogance—she clearly didn’t perceive me to be a threat. She was staring at one of the portraits Nik had painted of me and hung along the back wall. Her fingers were pressed against the canvas gently at first, and in the blink of an eye her fingers tore through with such force she created a hole in the brickwork. That was when she turned to face me. Her eyes is what stood out to me at first, they were a striking green, seeming to shine brighter due to the red curly hair that draped around her shoulders and down her back. She was dressed in a short and low cut black dress; clearly she’d been intending to impress my Hybrid.
‘Aurora I presume.’ I said, unable to keep the venom from my voice.
‘You’ve heard of me?’ she seemed to preen with the knowledge.
‘Yes, when Nik was recounting his psychotic exes you were the first name out of his mouth.’ I smiled, inwardly cheering when her expression transformed into fury.
‘I cannot understand what he possibly sees in you.’ She sneered, walking around me like a shark circling its prey.
‘That makes two of us,’ I shrugged.
‘I’ll admit I’m disappointed. I expected more fire.’ She said, coming to stand in front of me again, and that was when she revealed a stake, ‘white oak seems a waste on you, but it’ll kill you just the same and to be honest, I rather enjoy the poetry of Nik waking up to see you dead beside him. The pathetic abomination will be so overcome with grief that he’ll be powerless to falling into my awaiting arms. As soon as that happens, I’ll be able to easily convince him to dagger his other pathetic siblings and we’ll live happily ever after as King and Queen of New Orleans.’
My eyes flashed and before she could comprehend it, the stake clattered to the floor as the snap her wrist made when I twisted it behind her back echoed throughout the room.
‘How dare you.’ I growled, unbelievably enraged, picking the stake myself and plunging it into her stomach. She fell to her knees with a cry of pain, her hands moving to the wound when I yanked the wood out.
‘How dare you come into this city and threaten my family. How dare you call my Hybrid an abomination? The way I see it, the only abominable creature in this room is you, you psychotic, ignorant, pretentious bitch.’ I snarled, too far-gone in my fury to notice my Hybrid stirring behind me.
‘This isn’t your family.’ She protested, albeit a little weekly as I drove the stake through her chest, a mere inch from her heart.
‘Yes it is. I love each and every one of the Mikaelson’s, and I’d be damned if I let you threaten one of them, but all of them, including the man I love more than anything? Well you just signed your death certificate.’ With that, my hand punctured her chest cavity, clenching around her heart and tearing it out. I watched with relief and satisfaction as her corpse turned grey, before dropping the organ to the ground.
I pulled my phone out of my back pocket to send a text to the group chat; pleased to see everyone else had achieved their goals without a hitch.
Me: Need a witch back at the compound. Aurora has Nik trapped with a boundary spell.
 Elijah: Will bring Sophie now.
Me: Thanks, Lijah. Glad everyone else is okay.
Elijah had been with the witches to lure those of his sire line and trap them. Those who already resided in the quarter had been given a remedy that granted them immunity while the spell was being cast. When the strix arrived they would be given the chance to leave Tristan’s leadership or risk death. Tristan himself was trapped much like Lucien in a separate space secured with chains and witchcraft, which is where he would remain until the vervain had been drained and his plan had been compelled out of him. Either way, after that was discovered they would both be dead. The same had been planned for Aurora… before I’d gone AWOL.
‘Evangeline.’ I jumped a mile at the sound of his voice, having not heard him come around. When I faced him I was surprised by the intense expression on his face.
‘Are you okay?’ I asked, my fingers pressing against the boundary in vein as I tried to reach him.
‘I’m fine. A little hungry, but otherwise I’ll live. I managed to secure the location of the white oak from her mind before she incapacitated me.’ He smiled softly, ‘I already sent the location to Kol, I’m sure he’s taken care of it by now.’
‘Then why do you look so… astounded?’ I wondered.
‘Because watching you defend our family, and defend me has got to have been one of the most erotic things I’ve ever seen.’ He told me honestly.
I blinked in surprise before letting out a laugh, him joining me. Though I knew he was being sincere due to the lust in his eyes, which seemed to grow as his eyes roamed over my outfit.
‘I’ll take it your part of the plan was successful?’ he wondered.
‘Yes, though I feel like I need to scrub every inch of my body. Lucien is a pig.’ I informed him honestly. There were no secrets between us.
‘What did he do?’ Nik growled, his eyes flashing protectively.
‘He touched my arm and back, pulled on my hair and leaned way too close. Not terrible when you say it aloud but he made me feel really uncomfortable. But it doesn’t matter now.’ I waved it off, ‘once he’s had the vervain drained from his system and whatever plan they had in place is revealed he’s dead. At the rate they were draining him, I can’t imagine it would take long.’
This seemed to soothe him somewhat, but I could see him itching to hold me, his wolf needing to make sure I was indeed okay. Thankfully in that moment, Elijah walked through the door, Sophie following closely behind him. The elder Mikaelson raised a brow at the dead De Martial on the floor in confusion, looking over and pursing his lips in amusement when I hid my bloodied hand and the stake behind my back.
‘I don’t remember killing her being a part of the plan,’ Elijah commented as Sophie got to work.
‘I know. My temper might have gotten the best of me.’ I winced like a child about to be reprimanded by their parents.
‘She defended us brother. Aurora intended to kill her and use my grief to manipulate me to dagger you all and allow her to rule beside me.’ Nik explained, amused by my timid behaviour.
‘I couldn’t help it. I’m protective of my family, and of Nik, she threatened all of that.’ I pursed my lips, glancing down to her body, ‘she was one crazy bitch.’
Nik laughed loudly and the sound bought a smile to my lips, relieved that at least he wasn’t pissed at me for messing with the plan. A glance at Elijah and the amusement on his expression assured me he wasn’t all that mad either. I felt the tension in my shoulders ease.
‘She had white oak though,’ I revealed the stake and handed it to the older Original, ‘Nik sent Kol to collect the rest.’
Elijah nodded, some tension easing from his expression. In that moment Kol entered the room, grinning so widely I was surprised when his face didn’t split in half.
‘The white oak is gone. Apparently they gathered it from the wood made to construct a bridge and sign in Mystic Falls. Ironic, but alas I has all burned to ash.’ He said, practically bouncing with happiness at his success.
‘Excellent. Well done brother.’ Nik said, his expression conveying the sincerity behind his words. Kol’s expression softened under Nik’s praise and I couldn’t help but smile at the strong bonds they all now shared—My Hybrid had told me of Kol’s feeling of being left out of the family and so moments like this reminded me of how much they’d all overcome.
Kol nodded, a soft smile aimed at his older brother before he accepted a hug from Elijah and then me. When I pulled away, he frowned at the dried blood on my hand and forearm.
‘Don’t ask.’ I said before he could inquire.
Kol looked over to Nik who grinned and nodded in answer to his silent question: he would tell him later.
‘It’s all done.’ Sophie announced, but before she could even get up from the floor I found myself surrounded by Nik’s warmth and his scent.
All of the tension eased of my body, and I felt Nik relax too as his face nuzzled into my neck and took in my scent, now assured that I was in fact okay.
‘You two are too cute.’ Bekah commented, I noted that she had her own voice back, which meant the glamour had been removed, but I didn’t lift my head to look.
I hummed in contentment as Nik’s hand moved back and forth at the bottom of my spine, while his other hand rested at the centre of my back, his thumb moving back and forth comfortingly. The warmth his arms and hands emitted would never fail to make me feel safe and home. One of my hands were moving through the curls on his head, while the other rested against his chest, playing with the collection of necklaces that laid there. I was so contented and relaxed that I almost forgot where we were and what had happened when—
‘Why is Aurora dead?’ Bekah asked.
Nik laughed and I hid my face in his chest, embarrassed and already aware that I would never live this down.
 //
Back to Five years after Evangeline returned from the 15th century.
‘Come on, Kol!’ Bekah complained from one of the love seats—Nik and I occupied the other.
‘It’s my choice, Bekah. You think I wanted to watch that god-awful romance movie you picked last month? No. But did I complain?’ his question was intended to be rhetorical but I answered anyway.
‘Excessively.’ I deadpanned, chuckling with the others.
‘Well—I didn’t complain as much as I wanted to.’ He said, as if that were a solid argument. I rolled my eyes and settled further into Nik’s side, my head resting on his chest. His arm was wrapped around me and he was tracing random patterns on my arm. I sighed in contentment, knowing that if he kept that up with how warm and relaxed I was, I wouldn’t see ten minutes of this movie.
‘Then Bekah can complain just shy of how much she wants to, and you’ll have to take it.’ Marcel pointed out, laughing at Kol’s affronted expression.
‘Can we just get this over with? The sooner it’s on, the sooner it can be over.’ Elena mumbled, a blanket wrapped around her, that and her husband’s arms around her providing her with protection from the zombies that Kol was subjecting us to. She was sat on the far end of the couch, Stefan to her right, Kol to his right and Damon on the other side of him. Bekah and Marcel were sat on the armchair; the female Mikaelson basically sat on her husband’s lap.
‘Come on, you’re a vampire. If zombies were running around in this world, they’d be no match for any of us.’ Damon smirked smugly from his seat next to Kol.
‘You don’t know that. What if a zombie bite affected us? If we also became zombie’s I’d hate to spend an eternity like that.’ Elena argued, pointing to the zombie that was now on the screen.
Instead of arguing, Damon shushed her, reaching for a handful of popcorn where the ridiculously huge bowl rested on Kol’s lap. I busied myself with the chocolate Eminem’s I’d commandeered, occasionally feeding some to Nik as I munched away.
I reached over to the arm of the chair for one of the blood bags we’d bought over to sustain us through the movie. I opened the cap and drank a few sips before offering some to my Hybrid, when he was finished I recapped it and placed it back where I’d grabbed it. I sighed softly, not interested in the movie in the slightest. But I knew this was the whole point of movie night, it wasn’t simply to watch; it was an opportunity to spend time together. Glancing around I noticed that Bekah and Nik were also unimpressed, Elena was terrified, while Kol, Damon, Marcel were overly amused by what passed as a horror movie.
I shifted in Nik’s arms so my head now rested on his shoulder, I faced his neck, not bothering any further with the terrible acting on the screen and started to play with the collection of necklaces around his throat. A small smile always formed on my face when my fingers connected with the only metallic one he wore—the locket I’d given him all those centuries ago. He’d tried to return it to me, but I insisted he wore it, liking that a part of me was always with him on the rare occasions I couldn’t be. In return he’d gifted me with his necklace that bore the Mikaelson crest. It had originally hung from a leather cord but he’d had it transferred to a silver chain and I wore it around my neck, happy to have something that reminded me of him for always.
‘Bored there my love?’ He murmured, to quiet to be heard by anyone else over the T.V.
‘While I’m in your arms? Never.’ I grinned as his chuckle, placing a kiss to his pulse point.
‘Do you ever think about getting married?’ Nik asked and I blinked at the question.
I leaned up, my hands resting against his face so I could take in his expression. He looked curious, yet slightly nervous.
‘I used to all the time when I was human. Had my perfect wedding all planned out. But it was something I gave up on when I became a vampire.’ I told him honestly.
‘Why?’ he wondered, reaching up to brush some hair behind my ear.
‘Because I couldn’t imagine anyone wanting to spend an eternity with me. I could barely imagine sixty years, but forever? It just seemed impossible.’ I murmured.
‘What about now?’ he seemed tentative, which was rare for him and I couldn’t help but instinctively move a hand to his hair, knowing that it soothed him.
‘Is that your way of proposing?’ I teased, trying to ease his nerves.
He grinned, leaning up and pecking my lips before falling back to the love seat, ‘I’ve been thinking about it for a while now.’
The sincerity in his expression caught me off guard, but my surprise quickly faded to delight, ‘really?’
He nodded, relieved by my excitement, ‘I even have a ring. I was planning on a romantic dinner with just the two of us, ending with me asking you.’
‘That sounds like quite the proposal.’ I commented, my hand gently moving back and forth against his jaw, ‘why mention it now?’
‘My love, patience has never been my strength. I’ve waited so long to have you back in my arms and I can’t keep putting off making you mine because I’m waiting for a perfect moment. Every moment with you is more perfect than I ever could have imagined, and certainly more perfect than I deserve. I love you Evangeline, with everything that I am. Spend an eternity with me. Marry me.’ He said, softly wiping away the tears that had fallen down my cheeks.
‘Okay,’ I was sure my tears didn’t dampen the pure happiness that I could feel radiating from my face. Nik captured my lips, kissing me with a softness and tenderness that made my heart flutter in my chest.
‘I love you.’ I told him, my voice barely above a whisper, but his soft smile assured me that he’d heard me.
‘I love you too.’ He replied as I settled against his chest again.
I drifted off to sleep there, surrounded by our oblivious family and in the arms of the man I loved.
 //
Five years and six months after Evangeline returned from the 15th century.
‘You look beautiful.’ Jenna said, dabbing away the tears in her eyes with a tissue.
I smiled at her from where I was sat, getting my hair curled by one of the professionals Bekah had hired for all of us.
‘Thank you Aunt Jenna.’ I winked.
‘If you’re this emotional now, you’re gonna be done for when she puts on the dress.’ Elena teased, winding an arm around Jenna’s waist.
They had all gotten ready before me so they (mainly Bekah) could assure everything else was going to plan everywhere else. The female Mikaelson was currently checking on the boys and making sure they were finished, honestly I was so grateful for her. If it hadn’t been for her input, I doubt we could’ve pulled off the wedding I’d been dreaming of since I was a little girl.
‘I know, I just keep thinking about your Mom and Dad and how proud they would be right now.’ She said, barely squeezing out her words before the tears started streaming again.
‘They are here, Jenna. Maybe not in body but definitely in spirit.’ Elena assured both our aunt and I. I offered her a grateful smile, my eyes flicking over to my bouquet of red and white roses I would be holding while walking down the isle—my mom and dad’s favourite flowers. It had been Nik’s idea and I’d loved it.
‘You’re right.’ Our emotional aunt nodded, seeming to steel herself as she dabbed her eyes one last time before securing her tissue in her bra. Elena and I shared an amused glance.
‘You both look beautiful by the way.’ I complimented them.
I had chosen Elena as my maid of honour, with Bekah and Jenna being bridesmaids. Each wore a deep purple A-line styled dress made of chiffon material. This colour matched the ties of the groomsman, aside from Nik’s—his would be white. The dress cut off just below the knee, revealing the black platform shoes each of them wore. I had encouraged them to choose how they wanted to wear their own hair and was surprised when they’d all agreed on one hairstyle for them all. Their hair had been curled, with the front being pinned back to the backs of their heads with a jewelled clip that matched the deep purple of their dresses. They looked stunning.
‘Not as beautiful as you’re going to look.’ Bekah commented as she re-entered the room, looking moderately relieved.
 ‘What’s up?’ Lena asked.
‘Nik’s pacing a hole in the floor from his room. It amazes me how quickly his paranoia grows the longer he’s separated from you.’ She shook her head in amazement, moving over to the mirror to unzip my dress.
‘Well maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if someone hadn’t made us sleep apart last night.’ I muttered, already reaching for my phone.
‘It’s bad luck to see the groom before the wedding!’ Bekah protested, frowning when she saw me walking towards the bathroom, ‘what are you doing? You need to put your dress on, the ceremony starts in ten minutes!’
‘I’ll be two, I promise.’ I smiled reassuringly and closed the door behind me, finding Nik’s contact and clicking it before bringing it to my ear.
It rung once before he answered, ‘Evangeline.’ He murmured; his voice already sounding a little more relaxed.
‘Hello my gorgeous Hybrid and soon to be husband.’ I answered brightly, smiling at the sound of his chuckle, ‘what’s this I hear about you being paranoid?’
‘It’s nothing, my love. Just my self depreciating voice rearing it’s ugly head and telling me that I don’t deserve you.’ He said, his voice more sombre now.
‘Nik, you are the strongest, sweetest, smartest, funniest, sexiest and most talented man I’ve ever known. So you tell that voice inside your head to shove it because you’re an amazing man and I promise to keep reminding you of that fact for eternity.’
‘Thank you, my love. You always know what to say,’ he said, his voice soft.
‘You’re welcome, we all need reassurance sometimes, and that’s nothing to be ashamed of.’ My voice was as gentle as his.
‘I can’t wait to marry you.’ I could sense his smile on the other side of the phone.
‘Right back at you my Hybrid.’ I grinned, ‘speaking of I should put my dress on before Bekah has an aneurism. I’ll see you soon.’
 ‘That you will, my love.’
I hung up the phone and exited the bathroom, handing my phone to Jenna while Bekah and Elena helped me step into my dress. I had surprised everyone with my determination to choose my own wedding attire, which was fair seeing as any other clothing trip ended with me leaving it to Bekah. But I’d had a very specific dress in mind for my wedding day and I was overjoyed with the end result. It was a ball gown dress with a three-foot train; the bodice had a lace overlay that extended on sheer material to my arms. There were hundreds of diamonds scattered all over that twinkled when they caught the light just right. The veil that was clipped into my hair was also decorated with lace and hung all the way down to the floor. I was wearing my Mikaelson necklace, which I’d been sure to pull from underneath my dress, displaying the crest proudly where it rested on my chest. My hair was curled; the front pinned back similarly to the girls’ but mine was secured with the clip of my veil. My made up was natural; my lips painted with a deep red lip stain that matched the roses I’d be carrying perfectly.
‘You look radiant.’ Bekah said, tears forming in her own eyes.
‘Don’t, you’re gonna make me cry.’ I warned.
‘We can’t have that, you’ll ruin your make up and you look perfect.’ Elena nudged Bekah playfully.
A knock on the door broke us out of our conversation; Elena answered the door to reveal Elijah. His expression became soft when he saw me, his own eyes glassing over as emotion overcame him.
‘Sister, you look… wonderful.’ He murmured.
I hugged him, thank you Lijah.’
‘Well, it’s time.’ Bekah announced, shooing the other bridesmaids out of the room, ‘remember walk down the isle when you hear the wedding march.’
‘We know Bekah.’ I chuckled, my arm linking through Elijah’s as we followed them.
I had asked him to walk me down the isle because I couldn’t imagine anyone else doing it. Elijah had become the best big brother I could have ever hoped for, and it seemed wrong to be given away by anyone else. Of course, Nik had also asked him to be best man, so after he’d delivered me to the end of the isle, he would take his place in between Nik and Kol. I took a deep breath as we reached the entrance to the ballroom; we were getting married at a house Nik had built in Mystic Falls long before I had even been born. He wanted to have a house where we could live when I wanted to visit my home, and a place that he could stay in to reminisce about the village he’d lived in when he was human. He’d built this house on top of the same place he’d resided all those years ago. When he’d told me that, it seemed to be the perfect location; the town where I’d grown up, where my parents were born and buried, and the village he’d spent time with his family before they’d become vampires. It held a lot of nostalgia and meaning for the both of us, and I knew then that this is where we could become husband and wife.
‘Are you ready, sister?’ Elijah murmured, turning to me as the march started.
I nodded, unable to keep the smile off my face as I followed Elijah’s lead down the isle. I’ve never felt more love and happiness than I did in that moment, surrounded by those I loved, and the man I loved more than anything. Those invited had been kept to a bare minimum. Nik had most of his friends as groomsmen: Marcel, Stefan, Kol and Elijah were all stood up there with him, while on my side stood Jenna, Bekah and Elena. Other than that, Damon, Jeremy, April (he’d asked to bring her as his guest), Sophie, Josh, Cami, Finn and Freya all sat in white wooden chairs as the audience.
Freya had been a surprise to the Mikaelson’s not long after Nik had proposed. She’d popped up explaining that their aunt Dahlia had kidnapped her and cursed to spend a hundred years sleeping to every year of life. That had been a close fight that involved another time travel spell for Esther’s blood and a few other ingredients, but we defeated her and Freya was free and connecting with the family she’d yearned to know for centuries. Finn was a different story. He’d been undaggered after Nik had tracked down Sage, who’d been his long lost love nine centuries ago. After their reunion, they’d departed and we hadn’t heard a word from him until Freya popped up and he came to the compound to visit her. Even during those visits he’d only really spoken to his eldest sister. Still, we’d extended a wedding invitation to him seeing as he was technically family. But I’ll admit I was stunned by his attendance; I suspected Freya had something to do with it. Though I was unsurprised that Sage hadn’t come; her and Nik had apparently never gotten along.
After my eyes had quickly glanced over those present they fell and remained on the most important one of all. My Hybrid was positively beaming with happiness, the same kind that I was sure he could see on my face. The kind of elation that you felt at the prospect of marrying your best friend, your confidant, your lover… your person. His gorgeous blue eyes were glassed over as he fought to hold back his tears, I want as strong however, my tears having long fallen onto my cheeks. Bekah would have a fit, but I didn’t care. Elijah took my hand and placed it in Nik’s and just like that, I was home. My fingers entwined with his as we faced the man we’d chosen to officiate our marriage.
‘We are gathered here today to join this man and this woman in matrimony.’ I couldn’t help but tune out what he was saying, too lost in Nik’s eyes to worry about anything else.
‘I believe you have written your own vows?’ I startled at the question, and nodded.
‘Nik, before I met you, I had given up on the idea of marriage, of finding someone to spend the rest of my life with. When I was human, it seemed plausible, as sixty years doesn’t seem as daunting as an eternity. But suddenly faced with the prospect of forever, I couldn’t imagine finding anyone who would love me enough to want to be tied with me for eternity. Then I met you. We might have first gotten of on the wrong foot,’ we all shared a chuckle at that, ‘but I fell in love with you so fast that it scared me. I’d never felt so much so fast before, but before I could get too lost in my own insecurities, you told me that you loved me too. Not with words at first, but in the way you protected me, the way that you touched me and the way that you looked at me. From that moment all those years ago, I couldn’t picture a future without you in it, and now I can’t wait to spend eternity with you as your wife.’ I gently wiped away the tears that had fallen onto his cheeks before grasping his hands in mine again.
‘Evangeline, I’ve been on this earth for a long time, and for a majority of it I was a man I’m not proud of. As a human, I was berated and beaten for no reason other than my father’s unexplainable hatred of me. When I became a vampire and my werewolf side was revealed, I was more of an outsider then I had ever been. I learned to be ashamed of who I was, because that is what my mother inadvertently told me when she cursed my werewolf side into dormancy. This created a man whose insecurity and fear manifested itself as anger and aggression. I believed I didn’t deserve to be loved by anyone. I became a monster, pushing away those closest to me until I believed they hated me too. I belittled anyone who showed emotion, when deep down I envied them for being brave enough to love, to adore, to laugh, and to be happy. I spent centuries taking the fate of my sibling’s into my own hands, because while I knew they hated me, I loved them and I couldn’t tamper my protective instincts when it came to their safety. They perceived it was out of spite or superiority and I let them believe it because it was easier to accept their hate than their love. But then I met you. You came into my life and within two minutes you’d already, albeit unwillingly, revealed your plans to kill me.’ I chuckled with him, my tears falling steadily down my face, ‘but despite the obvious threat, I couldn’t bring myself to hurt you. When you offered a plan to help me I was grateful that it meant I didn’t have to come up with an excuse myself. Your light, your kindness to a man who you only knew to cause you pain drew me in. You bought out my humanity without effort and I found myself overcome with my love for you, with my protectiveness and adoration. You accepted me for who I was, you made accepting your love and returning it effortless. You made me realise that I deserved to be loved.’ He took a breath, gently wiping the tears from my cheeks and smiling when I leaned into his touch. ‘I vow that for the rest of eternity, you will never doubt how much I love you, Evangeline.’
My hands squeezed his gently as we shared a smile.
 ‘The rings?’ The officiate asked.
I turned and took Nik’s ring from Elena, while Nik retrieved mine from Elijah.
After we exchanged ‘I do’s,’ Nik pulled me in for a passionate kiss and just like that, we were married. The idea of an eternity with one person may have scared me once. But that was before Nik. That was before I’d met the one person in the world who seemed to understand me better than I understood myself. He was my rock, my Hybrid, and as long as he was by my side the prospect of forever was anything but daunting.

Which of your fics...? (tag game)
i was tagged by @locke-writes !! these tag games are always interesting bc it’s so strange to go back and really look at your writing/answer questions about it
Did you think would get a bigger reaction/audience than it did?
all of them lmfao jk jk but on a more serious note i’m at the point where i really don’t expect my shit to get notes anymore so i don’t ever really expect my writing to blow up. i guess one that comes to mind is One for Six (Reader x Steve Harrington)? i think i posted it around when season 3 came out so i figured stranger things would still be trending/relevant enough to gain some traction, especially since i was seeing a lot of other stranger things/steve harrington fics floating around with like hundreds of notes, but it just did ok. and tbh i only just found this fic while going through my masterlist but i’d say the same goes for Savior (Reader x Poe Dameron), again because i posted it around when the rise of skywalker and it just did alright.
Got a better reaction than you were expecting?
lots of my old pieces, probably because they’ve existed for longer so they’ve gained more notes that way? i don’t know why else they would be so popular bc they’re like 3 years old and i don’t even remember writing them bc they’re that forgettable. i almost don’t want to link them because they are literally so so bad like there wasn’t really a request so bc of that there wasn’t really a plot? but yeah Don’t Tell Me You Actually Doubted Me (Reader x Stephen Strange) & I’ll Hurt The Suit (Reader x Eggsy Unwin) both have around 700 notes which is kind of ridiculous
Is your funniest?
i feel like i don’t really write humorous pieces? i feel like i might throw in some funny moments here and there but overall i wouldn’t describe the tone as funny. i guess one that comes to mind is Quite The Contrary (pt. ii) (Reader x Jaime Lannister) because it has some lighthearted vignettes with jaime trying to impress the reader that kind made me laugh when i pictured them in my head. and come to think of it my most recent fic is also pretty lighthearted, so i’d also say Off Limits (Reader x Cassian Andor).
Is your darkest or angstiest?
akjsdhalksdhajksdhasd i feel like everything i write i just outdo myself with the angst because i feel like the only time i feel like writing now is when i’m sad. i guess top pieces that come to mind are Grief (Reader x Donna Troy), God’s Soldier (Reader x Matthew Murdock) & Games (Reader x Michael Gray). i feel like Games is a different type of angst compared to Grief and God’s Soldier, but it still made my heart ache while writing it
Is your absolute favorite?
i feel like i think some pieces are my favorite when i write them but over time i just find them average and am really not impressed with myself alsdhjakshd but i suppose Cursed Blood (Reader x Renfri) & Quit (Reader x Billy Russo) are two i haven’t completely managed to hate yet.
Was easiest to write?
ohhhhh i’m not sure because i feel like i always struggle at one point when writing something. i think i’d have to say Games (Reader x Michael Gray) because it was based on a gif imagine i had already written so i had a pretty concrete plot in mind? so all i needed to do was flesh it out and go in detail.
Was hardest to write?
oh jeez probably all the pieces with characters i don’t like/am indifferent toward/am not inspired for. i also went through a phase on my blog where people just asked me to write one shots based on gif imagines, some of which were really obscure requests already and weren’t really one shot material, but i ended up just trying to do it. so all those one shots i forced myself to write content for were hard to write and not good at all. there’s too many to link.
Has your favorite lines/exchanges/paragraphs?
Quit (Reader x Billy Russo): So instead, you let him burrow inside of you, let him make a house out of your body, your ribcage the white picket fence while he takes comfort from the warmth of your fireplace heart. You’ll never try to make a home out of him. His bones are brittle and empty, collecting dust over abandoned furniture. You’d be picking glass out from your feet if you tried to enter, broken things that had been there long before you ever arrived.
God’s Soldier (Reader x Matthew Murdock): Father Lantom told him that God speaks in whispers, yet he’s never met with anything but silence, deafening, overwhelming silence. He has never heard anything from God. He never has, and he doubts he ever will.
Wholeheartedly (Reader x Klaus Hargreeves): He had rested his head in your lap, looking up at your smiling face as you braided wildflowers into his curls. The sun hung overhead, shining a golden halo around your head. The two of you always joked you were the Kings of the park, two boys in love with flowers in your hair. // If Klaus tried to focus hard enough, he could almost taste the lemonade on your lips when you kissed in that very park for the first time.
Have you re-read the most?
i don’t really reread my work.
Would you recommend to someone reading your work for the first time?
i feel like i have two categories of fics with one being more traditional with like a clear plot, dialogue and all that, and others that is just me word vomiting and it’s more abstract/vague. so going with that, i guess some fics i’d recommend that are more straightforward/traditional:
Professional (Reader x Dick Grayson) / Just A Scrape (William Brandt x Reader) / Savior (Reader x Poe Dameron) / Games (Reader x Michael Gray) / One for Six (Reader x Steve Harrington)
and fics that are more abstract:
Quit (Reader x Billy Russo) / Cursed Blood (Reader x Renfri) / One Day (Reader x Poe Dameron) / Grief (Reader x Donna Troy) / Wholeheartedly (Reader x Klaus Hargreeves)
sorry i basically just repeated the same couple of one shots, bc i literally only acknowledge pieces i’ve written maybe from last year onward bc anything before that is trash. but anyway, i’m gonna tag every writer who sees this bc this was fun!!!

(Not So) Invisible Love
Ben Hargreeves x Reader Fandom: The Umbrella Academy Prompt: Dating Ben Hargreeves hc? Note: Mayhaps I love him? Also I went WAAAAAY OVERBOARD. Oh well. Warnings: None? (Well mentions of death...this is Ben after all…) Word Count: 4.5k
Tumblr media
“Klaus, look at what I found at the witch market!”
The ghost-whisperer you fondly referred to as your best friend gasped in horror and held a hand over his chest. “You went to the witch market without me?!”
“I am a witch. Sometimes I go to the witch market. You act like this is surprising news. Besides, I’m the one who showed you that place anyway.”
“But you know how much Ben and I love the witch market…” Klaus looked to the empty seat on the couch. “He said he feels betrayed.”
“Well, tell him I said sorry. You guys can come with me when I go back next week.”
“I’m putting it on my calendar. You better not let me down, Baudelaire.”
“I won’t, I won’t.” You chuckled, sitting on the couch opposite Ben. Though you couldn’t see or hear Klaus’ ghostly brother, your supernatural tendencies made you better at feeling his aura than most. You were one of the first people who’d ever believed he was there in the first place. Maybe that was why Klaus had latched onto you so quickly. Or maybe it was because the two of you related in more ways than one.
You, like Klaus, were one of the children born that fateful day, but instead of being scooped up by Reginald Hargreeves to attend his Umbrella Academy, you’d been shipped off to Baudelaire’s, an exclusive school for gifted children tucked deep into the woods of Michigan. Needless to say, you got out of there about as quickly as you could. Reginald had raised his “children” to be famous, whereas Narcissa Baudelaire had done the opposite, nurturing the gifts of her recovered children in secret, tucked away where no one would find her.
It wasn’t that Narcissa was inherently awful to you or any of the other kids in the school. In fact, you knew she only wanted the best for you, but you’d always craved for something much more normal, which ironically had led you to meeting a man who saw the ghost of his dead brother.
“So, do tell what you found. You’re leaving us hanging.”
“This was on the clearance shelf, so I’m not expecting much, but…” You pulled the potion bottle out of the paper bag and held it up so the boys could read the label. “Tada~”
“Temporary Spirit Sight?” Klaus read, looking at you incredulously. “I already see ghosts.” He looked to the spot where Ben was sitting. “Shut up.”
“It’s for me, silly.” You shook your head. “Unlike the rest of you, I’ve never seen Ben, and considering we’ve been friends for the past year and a half, I think it’s about time I did.”
“Awwww, you hear that, Benny? So sweet.” Klaus put a hand over his heart and then grinned, looking at you. “You should see him, you’ve got him blushing.”
“Cute.” You chuckled, reading over the label and instructions more carefully. “Okay, so it says: Drink the entirety of the potion to feel full effects. When used properly, it grants the drinker the ability to see, hear, and touch spirits around them. Lasts up to three days.”
“So in other words, a little taste of what it’s like to be me.”
“Yeah, that’s what it sounds like.” You shrugged and popped the cork off, giving it a sniff for good measure. “Any thoughts from our ghostly companion?”
Klaus looked to Ben and then back to you. “He said ‘bottoms up.’”
“Here goes.” You tilted the bottle into your mouth, swallowing the contents in a few large gulps. After about a minute, the bottle was empty and you felt very dizzy, pinching your eyes shut. “Ooh ouch. That stings a bit. Pretty sour.”
“You okay?”
“Fine, yeah, do you think it worked?”
“Uh, based on the fact that I didn’t ask that question, I’d say yes.” Klaus grinned, watching as you slowly pulled yourself together.
You blinked a few times, processing what he’d said. If Klaus didn’t ask then that meant…Immediately, you bolted upright and looked to the other side of the couch, where Ben waved shyly, still unsure if you could REALLY see and hear him, or if it was simply too good to be true.
“Ben?” You asked, making direct eye contact with him.
“Y-yeah. Uh, hi. Nice to...finally meet you.”
“Nice to meet you too. Well, officially, that is.” You held out your hand, waiting for him to offer his in return. Hesitantly, he did. Ben didn’t expect much, certainly not to be able to make contact with you, but much to his surprise, his cold hand touched your much smaller, warmer one.
“Oh my God.” Ben gaped, not letting go even after an almost uncomfortable amount of time.
“What?”
“Sorry.” He snapped out of it, pulling his hand away to rub the back of his neck. “It’s just the last time I touched someone was...a long time ago. It’s been a while, that’s all.”
“Sounds like someone needs a hug.” Klaus tilted his head, amused. Ever since you and Klaus met, he knew that Ben had the BIGGEST crush on you. Though your powers were dark in nature, somehow you managed to be one of the brightest people he’d ever met, always happy and optimistic, kind and caring and willing to listen when Klaus came to you with his problems.
“Would you shut up?” Ben hissed at his brother, red creeping across his cheeks and up into the tips of his ears.
“Do you want a hug?”
“I-well, uh, yeah. I do.”
“C’mere.” You stood up and held your arms open. Ben looked at you with wide eyes for a second before he stood in front of you and surrendered to your embrace. It had been so long, so, so freaking long since someone had been able to hold him. He only realized now just how starved for human contact he was. “Wow, you really needed this, huh?”
“You have no idea.” He murmured into the fabric of your old gray hoodie.
***
The more you thought back on your friendship with Klaus, and therefore, your friendship with Ben, the more you could recall all of the little instances in which it had maybe been a little obvious that Klaus’ dead brother harbored more than friendly feelings towards you.
Most notable was a time you’d showed up at the Academy dressed up for your friend’s birthday party and he’d told Klaus to tell you that you looked stunning. There was the time you made tea for the three of you, and he told Klaus to thank you for setting out a third tea cup, even though you were all aware he couldn’t drink it. And in addition, there had been plenty of rainy afternoons when you’d felt his aura lingering near you even when Klaus was out or in another room.
You couldn’t imagine it was all that fun for him to just be there and watch you read, but Klaus told you once that Ben liked reading over your shoulder. After so many years on his own, Ben had become a quick reader, so it didn’t matter what pace you read at, he could keep up.
For the past day and a half, though, now that he was visible and tangible, it had been extremely obvious. Any opportunity he got, he’d touch you. At first, you wrote it off as Ben being touch-starved from his years of death, but then again, did ‘just friends’ really hold hands at every chance they got? They probably didn’t cuddle near the fire with a good book, either…
And it was after catching all of his lingering glances and whispered words when he thought you had fallen asleep against his shoulder that you realized, deep down, that you had harbored feelings for him, too. Sure, maybe a relationship between a witch and a ghost wouldn’t be the most orthodox, but you knew you’d be able to make it work somehow.
You knew that whatever you needed would likely be in one place. And that meant…
“KLAUS! BEN! I’M GOING TO THE WITCH MARKET! THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE!”
“I thought you were going to the witch market next week.” Ben noted, materializing beside you.
You slapped a hand over your chest as your heart raced in surprise. “Jesus! You’re gonna give me a heart attack!”
“Sorry. Forgot. Klaus is used to that by now.”
“It’s fine.” You waved it off, laughing. “Where’s your brother?”
“Did someone say witch market?” Klaus popped his head out from the foyer. “Oh, there you are, Ben. I was wondering where you’d wandered off to.”
“Shut up.” Ben glared at Klaus, but his features softened when he felt you slip your hand into his and give it a squeeze, grounding him in the moment. It was easy for him to forget that for this brief little window, you could touch him.
“Well, to answer your question, I WAS going to go next week, but this stuff is supposed to wear off tonight, so I wanted to be able to go together, if that’s alright.”
“That’s...more than alright.” Ben smiled, squeezing your hand back. If he tried hard enough, he could pretend this was a date. A cute little witch date. Granted, with his brother Klaus there, but a date no less.
You all piled into your car, with Klaus letting Ben take shotgun, and in about thirty minutes’ time, you were parked in the parking lot outside. There was an enchantment on the place to make it look abandoned and dilapidated to all who looked on without magic, but as soon as you cast the entry key, the spell was lifted from your guests’ eyes and you all walked in.
There were dozens and dozens of witches manning their own stalls and selling whatever they specialized in. Your first stop was to visit Nancy, the kind witch near the back corner of the store who had a variety of spell books along with other tomes she’d read and decided she didn’t need anymore. You told Ben to go find whatever he wanted and you’d get it for him, and he agreed, thanking you before wandering through the rows of boxes filled with old books. Meanwhile, Klaus was talking to the broom dealer further down the market.
“Nancy, this is an odd request, but, I need something to bring the dead back to life.”
“You sure don’t half-ass anything, do you, (Y/N)?” Nancy chuckled before reaching into the box tucked under her chair. “Now, I wouldn’t do this for just anyone, but I know you’ve got a good head on your shoulders. It’s for your cute ghost boyfriend, isn’t it?”
“My-” You looked over at Ben, who excitedly motioned to a box next to him. You assumed he’d hit the jackpot. “Yeah, it is.”
“Well, this should do the trick.” Nancy handed the book to you and you paid her. “The trick is not to even concern the body in the matter. Easy to accidentally make zombies that way. Instead, you have to help his soul cross over from the spiritual plane to the physical one, which is not as hard as it sounds when you get the timing right.”
“Thank you so much.” You clutched the book to your chest before walking over to see what Ben was so excited about.
“She has the Narnia books.”
“Well then I guess we have to get them, huh?”
“Well, uh, we don’t HAVE to…”
“Right, but they’d make you happy. And you deserve to be happy, okay?” You looked up at him and watched as his expression melted into a smile.
“Okay.” He worked his hand into yours as you bent down and picked up the other books. Once you paid, Nancy helped you get them into a bag, and then the two of you walked over to Klaus, where he was still trying to strike a deal to get a broom.
“Klaus, we can just take mine for a spin sometime.” You told him, laughing as his face lit up. He gasped, spinning around to look at you.
“You’ve had a magic broomstick all this time and you didn’t tell us?”
“Well, if the pointy hat fits…” You shrugged, drawing a laugh out of Ben.
“Aww, aren’t you two awful cozy?” Klaus motioned between the two of you, grinning before turning around and leading the three of you further on through the market. “Come on, I want to see if they have any cool enchanted necklaces.”
***
When you all got back to the Academy, there were only a few hours left before the potion would wear off, so Ben insisted on taking you up to his old room to show you something.
“In here.” He pointed to the closet door so you could open it. You did, pulling it apart to find Ben’s old clothes, back from when he was alive. “I just...when you can’t see me anymore, I just want you to be able to remember that I’m here and that you’re never alone. I want you to have this one.”
Ben poked a black hoodie, his finger phasing right through the fabric. You carefully took it off of the hanger and slipped it on over your t-shirt. It was a bit bigger than what you usually wore, the sleeves covering your hands, but Ben loved the sight of you in his clothes, and couldn’t wait to see you wear his hoodie from time to time.
“Thank you.”
“No, thank YOU. You’ve done so much for me in these three days. I just...I really don’t know how to repay you…”
“Ben, you literally have nothing to repay me for.” You shook your head, looking up at him and trying to memorize his features. In a little while, you wouldn’t be able to see or touch him again for a long time. “I had a great time finally getting to talk to you. I mean, well, without a translator involved.”
“Yeah, I guess from now on, Klaus will have to third wheel…”
“Yeah…” You exhaled a little sigh and reached forward to take Ben’s hand in yours. “This is a really shitty time to say this, and I’m sorry for holding it in for so long, but….I think I caught some feelings for you, Ben. And I just didn’t know if-”
“Oh thank God.” Ben smiled, pulling you against his chest, arms wrapped tight around you. “I’ve had this giant crush on you since, well, the day we met, I guess. The first day, about a year and a half ago.”
“And I know it’s weird, and I’m a witch and you’re...dead. But I’m willing to give it a try if you are.”
“I’d love that.”
***
Operation: Bring Ben Back from the Dead was going to be a lot simpler than you thought it would be. The spell book Nancy had given you said you only needed a few things you didn’t already have, and those could be gathered on a quick trip to the Witch’s Market. Some of them, you didn’t even need to go the the Witch’s Market for.
You didn’t tell Ben about your plan for two reasons. The First was, you weren’t sure quite how he’d react to it. Second, you didn’t want to get his hopes up in case it didn’t work. You did, however, need Klaus’ help for some parts of it. This meant you had to get him alone, which was easier said than done.
“KLAUS! BEN! I’M GOING TO THE WITCH MARKET TO DO SOME GROCERY SHOPPING!!” You hollered up into the big empty house.
“What the hell is a witch market?” A younger member of the Academy, who you could only imagine was Five, walked into the entrance hall, a store mannequin tucked under his arm.
“I’m (Y/N). Klaus’ witch friend. Think of it as like a specialty market, except for witches.”
“Ah.” He nodded, leaving as quickly as he’d come, with Klaus waltzing out in his place. You felt Ben’s presence there next to him, and you smiled, looking to where you were pretty sure you felt him.
“Hey guys.”
“Witch market? We’re so in.”
“I was hoping you’d say that.”
About thirty minutes later, you, Klaus, and Ben were strolling up and down the rows of merchants, filling your cart with the things from your list. Once you got close to Nancy’s stall, you turned to where you felt Ben and told him he could pick out a book if he wanted to. As soon as you were alone with Klaus, he turned to you accusingly.
“You’re trying to bring Ben back, aren’t you?”
“Is it that obvious?”
“To him, no. Not at all. To me, well, the daffodils on your little ‘shopping list’ there are a giant red flag.”
“Alright, you got me.” You shrugged, surrendering. You turned to the herb dealer and bought aloe leaves, a few cloves of garlic, ivy, and some sage, components of what would become your Drought of Life. “So I’m trying to bring my ghost boyfriend back to life. Can you blame me?”
“Not at all, but I wish you would have asked me for HELP, maybe. Ben’s been following me around for years. You think I don’t want to see him happy?”
“I’ve been TRYING to ask you, but it’s not exactly like I’ve ever gotten the chance without him there.”
“Fair point.” Klaus glanced over his shoulder. “Ghost boy incoming.” Klaus listened to Ben before reporting to you. “He said there’s nothing good over there today.”
“Alright. It was worth a shot.” You shrugged, smiling before you pushed the cart over to the vendor selling copious amounts of candles. You bought twelve white candles of varying heights and widths and added them to your cart along with the rest of the goodies.
Once you crossed them off the list, that left very little to get, the last thing being one of Ben’s used socks, but you had been sure not to put that on your little list. So, after all of you were done, you loaded up your car and headed back to the Academy.
You immediately walked into the kitchen and started brewing. Your cauldron was here because the Academy was the perfect place for making potions, and Grace and Pogo didn’t seem to mind all that much, so long as you cleaned up after yourself and didn’t brew anything dangerous. Once the water was boiling, you waved your hand over the steam a few times, rolling up the sleeves of Ben’s hoodie. You felt his presence behind you, his form molding against yours.
“I miss your voice, Ben.” You whispered to him, imagining his arms wrapped around your waist. “I’ve fallen in love with the invisible boy…”
“Aww, aren’t you two cute?” Klaus walked into the kitchen, holding the socks you needed. He was quiet for a moment, listening to whatever Ben was saying. “He says he’s glad you like his hoodie.”
“Well, how could I not like it? It’s so warm and soft…” You murmured, tearing the aloe leaves into bits and then sprinkling them into the swirling waters, for healing and protection. Next, you chopped up the garlic, and sprinkled that in too, to double the effects. Next came the ivy leaves, for eternal life, though in this case, they would grant him life of any kind. Finally, in went the sage for long life.
You stirred the potion for a while, Klaus and Ben watching. Ben had confessed to Klaus, a long time ago when he’d first told his brother of his crush, that he was fascinated when you did witchy things. It was soothing for him to watch. Klaus grinned at the blissed out look on his brother’s face. The Ghost-Seer was really happy things were going to work out, even if Ben didn’t know it just yet.
Once all of the ingredients had been dissolved into the drought, you picked up the socks, which were still giving you the heavy dark vibes of Ben’s once-living self, and let them melt into the pot, using your magic to help them along until they were no more than another part of the thickening potion.
Another hour or so, you were done. You ladled a few bottles of the drought into glass vials for good measure, and then set them on your brewing rack to cool. If one of them broke, you had extras just in case. Then, thinking about it again, you labeled them with a very large note warning the other people in the house not to drink them or they would DIE.
Klaus looked at you with a question from Ben. “He wants to know if they’re poisonous.”
“No, but I would kill someone if they touched them.” You shrugged and washed your hands in the sink. “You guys have any plans tomorrow at midnight?”
“Do we ever have plans that don’t involve you?”
“I’ll take that as a no.” You laughed. “Meet me in the entrance hall under the skylight.”
Klaus grinned. “We’ll be there.”
***
The hour was steadily approaching. You lined up all twelve of the candles you’d bought in a large circle right under the skylight and lit their little flickering flames one by one with the tip of your finger.
Fire.
Next, you plucked the petals off of the dozens of daffodils you’d bought and sprinkled them into the ring of flames. You felt Ben lingering in the doorway as you did it. The whole house was getting darker, the lights dimmer and dimmer as the witching hour drew nearer.  Once the ring was complete, it flashed with light before dying back down.
Earth.
You took off your shoes and socks, letting your bare feet touch the cold white tiles, and as soon as you did, you lost the need to stay grounded to the floor below you, your form beginning to float a few inches in the air. In all the time Ben had spent with you, he’d never seen you do this before. He supposed you were full of all kinds of tricks he didn’t know about.
Air.
The final step would have to wait just a few more minutes, until the clock chimed and the moon was directly overhead.
“What’s going on in here?” Klaus’ gorilla of a brother made himself known and you turned to face him, still drifting in the air.
“I’m doing a spell. It’s important. Please don’t disturb it.”
“I don’t think that’s in our best interest.” Luther bristled, taking a few hulking steps forward.
“KLAUS!” You hollered up the stairs, and a few seconds later, he came down, looking at you with wide eyes.
“You’re floating.”
“Yeah. Explain to your brother the importance of this spell. We’ve only got a few minutes before-” You went silent, centering yourself in the middle of the ring, your legs criss-crossed and your body bobbing ever so gently in the air.
Klaus took Luther aside and explained to him very quietly and desperately just important what you were doing was, and defying all of his expectations, Luther actually listened, standing off to the side with the rest of the confused Hargreeves siblings.
Once the clock struck the first time, you closed your eyes and took in a deep breath. You poured the droplets of the Drought of Life into the air and the droplets floated around you, as unaffected by gravity as you were. You molded them into the base of the ring, using your energy to push the concoction in place. As soon as the ring was complete, the water extended upwards, expanding like a wall of water, translucent as a waterfall, and through the shimmery surface, you could see Ben there, in all of his glory, looking on at you in awe and confusion.
“Ben.” You looked at him, locking eyes with him. You reached out to him, motioning him forward.
“Me?”
“Take my hands. Do you trust me?”
He was quiet for a few seconds, trying to figure out what spell you could possibly be casting that involved him. “O-of course I trust you.”
“Then come here.”
Slowly, he did, taking unsure steps forward until he was standing in front of the wall of water dividing you from him. You let your legs down out of your criss-crossed position and held out your arms for him to take. Tentatively, he reached through the water and took your hands on the other side of it, solid touching solid.
“Come on, buddy…” Klaus murmured, watching as Ben took a step through. And then another. And then another until he had crossed over entirely.
“W-what…” Ben looked down at you in disbelief, unable to put together a string of words. “What did you do?”
Instead of answering, you broke the ring and let the water fall, putting the candles out. Once everything settled, you were standing in the center of the room, looking up at Ben as all of his siblings watched.
“Oh my God…” Allison whispered, eyes watering. “Ben?”
He turned to look at his siblings, who for the first time in ever, were all looking back at him. His eyes widened. “You...I...am I-?”
“Alive? Yes. Yes you are.” Klaus grinned, rushing up to his brother first, as soon as you helped him step out of the broken ring. He hugged him tightly. “Welcome back.”
“I just...I can’t believe it.” Ben whispered, looking at his hands. They didn’t LOOK any different, and yet, somehow, they were. He decided to put them to the test, reaching out to grab your shoulders. Immediately, he made contact with the fabric of his own hoodie, and he pulled you to his chest, tears rolling down his cheeks. “Thank you so much…”
“Don’t mention it.” You shrugged, finally starting to feel the exhaustion of all of the energy you’d burned up. You started drooping like a wilting daffodil, only for Ben to scoop you up in his arms, wrapping your legs around his hips. Your head rested heavily on his shoulder and you smiled sleepily.
“You okay there, flower?” He asked softly, concern etched in his voice.
“‘M fine…” You hummed. “Just drained...Need...sleep…”
***
You woke up to sunshine the next morning, and an arm around your waist, soft snores in your ear. At first, the drowsiness made you think this was still a dream, that the night before hadn’t happened, but when you turned and found Ben’s warm chest, you knew it must have been real. That this was much too vivid to be imaginary.
When he felt you stirring, he woke up, a smile gracing his features as soon as he saw you curled up in his arms. “Good morning.”
“Good morning.” You smiled back, delicate fingers reaching up to trace over the details of his face. “God, you’re so warm…”
“That’s all thanks to you, angel.” He hummed and leaned forward to kiss the crown of your head. “Wouldn’t be here without you.”
“Eh, some witch was bound to meet Klaus and fall in love with his ghost brother. I think it was inevitable, really.”
“Oh definitely.” He chuckled. “But for the record, I’m really glad it was you.”
You smiled and captured his lips with yours, kissing him gently before whispering, “I’m really glad it was me, too.”

I saw your other ask and I do wonder if an actual 13 yr old Five will pop up after they stop the apocalypse. It’s so interesting to have both Fives in the same place! And to see the stark contrast between what he was without the apocalypse. How does his older self feel (and does he still look 13 too?!). And how do his siblings react realizing how much the apocalypse and the Commission took from their brother! I love this idea and your blog!!
okay a solid half of me is like “wow there’s so much potential for angst and having Five confront the fact that he lowkey hates himself and what he’s become alone with feeling redundant alongside a younger version of himself that does match up to what his siblings remember instead of being the broken old assassin he actually is”
and the other half is like “but also consider the CHAOTIC GOOD TIMES” and at heart I’m a not so secret softie so that is the louder side at the moment
SO they stop the apocalypse. They’re all trying to figure out what happens now. Five is home alone (Allison flew home for a week to see Claire/figure out her situation, Vanya is at her apartment packing some things up to move back into the mansion for a while, Diego took Grace out shopping, Luther and Klaus went to grab groceries and are probably going to come back with so much sugar because Luther is still being a pushover trying to make up for his whole ‘locked Vanya away’ debacle)
Five is sitting on the front steps of the house (it’s too empty and too quiet inside and he may or may not be coming down from a panic attack) and that’s when there’s a blue flash down the street and Five freezes. Because down the street there’s a boy turning with a puzzled look and they both catch one another’s eye and it’s like looking in a mirror because they’re the same person
So of course they go inside to figure out what the fuck and Five has no patience left for baby Five and pretty much gives it to him straight: he time traveled to April 3rd, 2019, where there was supposed to be an apocalypse. They may or may not fight when baby Five doesn’t believe him and he is convinced when Five beats him easy - thank you assassin training. There’s an hour more of incredulity and explanations as they both loudly theorize about the potential world breaking-ness of them both existing in a paradox
but hey it doesn’t seem like the world is ending and they already touched each other during the fight and nothing weird happened so,, they just both exist?
They’re sitting there quietly contemplating what next and waiting for the others to come back when baby Five, with his wonderful childish sense of mischief, looks at Five and asks a simple question: “Hey, how long do you think it would take for the others to realize there’s two of us?”
(they already had the breakdown where baby Five tried to go back in time and failed and Five smacked him because he worked really damn hard for this version of reality to exist thank you and basically informs baby Five that if he goes back the world could literally end and that’s kind of that. baby five is stuck.)
and look,,, Five is a grumpy old man assassin but he never did lose his sense of mischief - though it’s been somewhat buried over the years and especially so the last week or so. So he may or may not perk up at the suggestion with intrigue, and baby Five knows himself and knows that means he’s in so -
(Baby Five kind of feels guilty for being a little relieved he doesn’t have to go back in time actually. He wants his siblings desperately, but Reginald is dead here. No more training. No more private lessons. Freedom. And - and technically his siblings are right here, right? They’re free as well? If he jumped back in time wouldn’t that be putting them all back under Reginald’s thumb? He isn’t sure if he could do that to them... but is that just a justification to himself?)
and cue the absolute shenanigans that exist as Five and baby Five pretend that there is only one (1) of them in this timeline.
also cue some very confused siblings because there are some serious differences between the two Five’s.
Vanya is confused when she offers ‘Five’ some coffee and he wrinkles his nose and declines like he thinks coffee is gross. Which can’t be right, right? She literally saw Five chugging coffee straight from the pot yesterday?
Luther wonders if there’s something off with Five when he doesn’t seem to remember the conversation they had earlier about going to the local history museum with the rest of the family. He seemed excited earlier but now just looks put out?
(”We can’t both go to the history museum!” Five hisses at baby Five, who is rolling his eyes.
“Dude, you’re practically a dinosaur why would you even want to go to a history museum?” Baby Five points out, “Didn’t you see enough history with your little assassin job?”
Five scowls, “Maybe I just think it’s interesting considering my ‘little assassin job’ you sanctimonious child. Maybe I like museums.”
“You’re so transparent! You just want to spend time with our family.” Baby Five teases, fully aware that he’s probably going to have to dodge a knife in a second but continuing to push buttons anyway. It’s what he does. “Or - if it’s really just about all the wonderful history then we can always go again without the rest of the family.”
Five scowls as baby Five bats his eyelashes but doesn’t say anything, which means baby Five totally won the conversation, ha!)
the brilliant thing is that thanks to Five’s powers, no one thinks anything of it when they see Five downstairs and then head upstairs and see him doing something up there so even though a lot of the siblings get suspicious they probably attribute anything really off to Five’s glaring PTSD and trauma
the first one to catch on is Klaus. Well. Not really. Actually Ben is the first one to realize that he’s seeing double and tells Klaus
(”Well well well.” Klaus interrupts, making both boys on the bed jump where they had their heads bent over some mathematical textbook. Klaus is going full drama, draping himself in the open doorway like he’s a bad movie villain. “It looks like someone has been keeping secrets from your darling family.”
“Don’t tell the others!” One of them blurts, while at the same time the other growls out, “Tell the others and I kill you.”
Klaus claps his hands together, absolutely delighted. “So you aren’t the same person! Well, go on, introduce me. Is this your slightly less evil twin?”
They both exchange glances. There’s an short nonverbal conversation consisting of vague gestures and shrugs before one Five rolls his eyes and turns away, clearly done with this whole situation. The remaining Five smiles brightly and waves, “Hey Klaus! Long time no see, almost seventeen years now right?”
There’s a second of processing before Klaus gets it - or maybe Ben gets it and relays the information it’s unclear - and his hands fly to his face as he gasps loudly. “You’re a baby! A child! Under our rooftop!”
“I’m thirteen.” Baby Five protests while Five snickers under his breath. Age is a point of contention between the duo.
“What which one of you did I offer alcohol to the other day?” Klaus demands.
Baby Five raises his hand.
“I knew there was something off about you saying no to booze!” Klaus declared, pointing dramatically. Then he blinked. “Wait I offered alcohol to a minor!”
“You’re such a hypocrite.” Baby Five rolls his eyes again, “Like a week before I came here I had to half carry you to your room you were so wasted and you were thirteen.”
“He has a point.” Klaus muses to the air, probably commenting to Ben. “But I’m still not seeing a way that you two aren’t gonna get your butts totally whupped by the others when they find out about this little charade.” He says charade with a fancy french accent that hopelessly mangles the word.
The two share a look again, and again it’s baby Five who takes the lead. It may or may not be that he’s the better of the two with people considering he didn’t spend forty some years in isolation.
He grins at Klaus with bright eyes, “Aw, c’mon Klaus. It’s just a game! Besides, isn’t it more fun to be in on it?”
“Hmm.” Klaus hums, making a show of thinking it over. All three of them know exactly what the outcome is going to be, though.
“Please Klaus!” Baby Five demands, still grinning, and he suddenly looks so young and unburdened that there isn’t even a question about whether Klaus is going to be in on it or not.)
It’s not that the two don’t fight. They do. Because Five doesn’t understand how he could ever be so naive and reckless and impulsive (even though he really should expect it considering he jumped through time in the first place) and Five doesn’t understand how he got so grouchy and old and weird about so many things
but they usually solve it by shoving it down and getting along through bribery basically
(”...want to learn how to use a sniper rifle?” Five offers into the tense silence.
There’s a solid pause where baby Five is clearly mulling that over before he finally turns in the chair to face his twin. “...Griddy’s on the way home?”
“Deal.”)
It takes an alarmingly long time for the ruse to fall apart, and it 100% happens because both Five’s show up at the same time due to a miscommunication where they immediately devolve into a yelling match about how it was totally their turn downstairs and the other is an idiot and they’re literally spatial jumping after one another around the room before Diego throws two knives and manages to pin both of the arms of their uniforms to the wall and make both stop
“What the fuck is this?” Diego demands, gesturing between the two Five’s wildly.
“It’s his fault!” Both Five’s point at the other
but the ruse is up and the duo are able to hop down whenever they like and torment the family.
This au is full of healing and baby Five teaching old Five how to be a kid again and more of less rubbing off on Five and dragging him into games and appealing to his sense of mischief and drama and also making the rest of the family go to like,, the zoo or laser tag or a water park
baby Five is still holding out for disney world, personally
and they are a ferocious team up,, like literal terror twins they are fully capable of terrifying the pants off of the rest of the family and then turning around and laughing and looking innocent enough that it was difficult to say no because they’re kids and are fully capable of bringing out the rest of the family’s protective instincts
even if they know intellectually that one of that duo is an assassin who could kill them in the same breath it took to tell them what idiots they were being because he could protect himself
I dunno I just want actual kid!Five dragging grumpy old man!Five into shenanigans that Five complains about but secretly likes going along with them because lets be real who doesn’t like doing impulsive childish shit from time to time and he has an excuse because he has to stop baby Five from getting himself killed, right?
after all, as Five will defend himself, he isn’t sure if his younger self’s untimely death will also kill him, right? As a future version? Kind of like the whole “you can’t kill your grandmother” argument or whatever, right? Time is weird shush
(even though they’re both pretty sure that old Five is actually from an alternate dimension vs. time travel and that this is actually baby Five’s universe, but their worlds didn’t diverge until old Five popped in eight days before the apocalypse so technically baby Five’s death probably wouldn’t have any effect on old man Five but
hey, better safe than sorry, right?)
Baby Five feels kind of indebted to old Five for,, you know,,, saving his siblings by preventing the apocalypse and preventing him from a fate worse than death with not having to deal with isolation and the apocalypse?? so he’s more patient than old Five probably deserves
and old Five feels kind of responsible for baby Five because they both know baby Five can’t go back in time and unravel everything with how delicate it is and so baby Five still lost the equivalent of his entire family since he doesn’t exactly know these older version anymore and
hey, who knows the other better than themselves, right? Baby Five understands old Five’s motivations and shares history, knows exactly how far he would go for his family when pushed
so yes now they’re essentially twins and 100% pretend to be one another constantly and get on the others nerves and help each other heal and that’s the tea on that

TUA Feedback Fest!
💜💜 Favorite Fic Writer 💜💜
I could have split these all up to go under various rec theme posts, and maybe I will, but the gosh darn truth of it is that I love every fic by @sunriseseance aka Oceansweather so dang much that I needed to make a post about all of it. A very detailed post. It’s long, but she and her work deserve it. <3
A Hard Rain’s A Gonna Fall
Summary: In 1963, most citizens of Dallas had no idea where Vietnam was. He knew that because none of the people he passes as he walks look particularly dead inside. The sidewalk scorches his feet even though the sun hangs low in the sky. The air is hot and wet and it feels like a jungle growing in his chest.
aka, A Fourth of July fic about Klaus, trauma, family, and history. Takes place in 1963.
Rating: NR⎜Pairing: Implied Klaus/Dave⎜Word Count: 4k+⎜Complete (1/1)
This is true for all of her fics - the writing style is so engaging and good and smart! This fic in particular, though - WOW the narration is incredible. Gets you very deep into Klaus’ headspace for a gripping, panicky experience. He’s dealing with the fallout of a traumatic event that is about to happen to most of the people around him. So complicated and sad and intricate!
He wants to warn her that, hey, in 6 years your little boyfriend is going to get drafted and he’s going to go to a country you couldn’t pick out on a map and he’s going to kill people who he shouldn’t kill and every week he’ll write you a letter promising you that when he gets back you’ll move out of the city and your baby will have a real forest to play in and then he’ll kill some more people he’ll go to hell for killing if there’s a hell to go to, and then, well, he’ll get shot in the chest and the blood will come out of his mouth, too, and you’ll have to know that you weren’t there, weren’t fast enough to hear his last words or offer him some last comfort and he’ll be dead and for what?
Happy Birthday, Johnny
Summary: It’s a nice place. Allison made sure of that when she chose it the first time. Three stays ago. God, they’re only 23 (And they are 23 now, or close enough). Three times? She may as well be lighting her money on fire.
Still, the chairs are comfortable. The visiting room is empty, of course, apart from a man with deep, heavy bags under his eyes. Fluorescent lights hum above her as she waits. They wash everything out, cast everything in a harsh shadow. Not that anything about the experience isn’t harsh. This is stupid. She knows it, now, as she feels her heart beating in her throat and the backs of her legs and her fingers.
What if he doesn’t want to see her? What if he was asleep for, what, the first time in 13 days? That’s how long it’s been this time, right? What if he hates her? (What if he’s right to do so?)
Rating: NR⎜Pairing: Gen⎜Word Count: 3k+⎜Complete (1/1)
Get ready for your heart to break from the Allison and Klaus feelings (and hold onto them, because she’s going to do this again, Allison and Klaus feelings is her brand). Being Hargreeves siblings is complicated, so so complicated, especially for these two, whose circumstances could not be more different, but when it comes down to it, they are quite similar. It’s pre-series, so it’s Sad, but boy is it ever a detailed look into these two excellent characters.
On their 13th birthday, before everything went wrong, Klaus snuck into her room at midnight with a magazine he stole and a cake he made. The smell of smoke stuck to all of his clothes, his skin, his hair. He gave her the cake, all of it, and the magazine. The smile that accompanied them haunts her.
He asked if he could sit with her, and she said yes. He asked if she’d ever smoked before, and she said no. He asked if she wanted to, and she said yes. He asked if she wanted weed or a cigarette, she said cigarette. That’s what the movie stars did. He gave her a look, a laugh, and showed her how to hold it so it didn’t burn her fingers. Not that he’d lit it yet. He wanted to make sure she had it down before he set her on fire.
Slow is in My Blood
Summary: Dave touches him, sometimes. In dances through root systems lit by a diffused moon, Dave puts a hand on his lower back, his arm, his shoulder. To help, he says. Your balance, he says, it isn’t good. I don’t want you to fall. These pits are endless, he says. You don’t like the dark. A touch to help. It helps.
aka, A meditation on Klaus and allowing himself to be loved. Dave doesn't die at the end.
Rating: NR⎜Pairing: Klaus/Dave⎜Word Count: 1k+⎜Complete (1/1)
I am biased, I suppose, because this fic was a gift to me. But like!!!! This fic!!! It’s sad and beautiful and lovely and so perfect. I can’t not think about Klaus and Dave’s relationship without thinking about the dynamic in this fic, about how Dave initiates and Klaus keeps himself from running away. It’s gorgeous.
Maybe it’s not one sided. Maybe he touches Dave on the back of his neck just to watch his skin react. Maybe he hopes the reaction comes from the touch itself, and not the chill Klaus carries with him. Maybe he lets the touch linger long enough for Dave to smack his hand away. Maybe he knows, somewhere, that smack is the wrong word. Dave doesn’t smack. He holds, and moves. He lacks a violence somewhere at his core. Maybe it’s the only way Klaus has something Dave lacks, and maybe it’s the only thing Klaus wouldn’t share if Dave asked.
I’ll Be Cleaning Up Bottles With You on New Year’s Day
Summary: Sitting behind him on the windowsill, in a truth that still feels false, is Dave. Quiet, right now. Rubbing Klaus's neck. Kissing it occasionally. New clothes, even, though still only things Klaus saw Dave wear in life. The closest he came to fancy enough for New Year's was the outfit he wore on the night they first kissed. The dates still get muddled in his head.
Dave still smells like Dave. Klaus can bring that back, too. The earthy-clean skin, the slight scent of sweat, the cotton of the polo. Something else, underneath all that. Something that Klaus could recognize anywhere, could follow to the end of the world, could die to protect.
Rating: NR⎜Pairing: Klaus/Dave⎜Word Count: 1k+⎜Complete (1/1)
OKAY Okay okay. This fic was the equivalent of a bottle of wine when I read it on New Year’s Eve, because it just took these 1092 words, and suddenly I was crying and telling my friends how much I loved them. Me talking about it here is not going to do justice to the warmth and love that you will feel from this. You just have to read it. If you want to experience a moment of perfect contentment and peace that will probably put happy tears in your eyes, read this.
His family is together. Really. They sit in the living room, wearing out couches that have lasted centuries. Allison spills her champagne. Luther only moved Klaus to the slightly-opened window when Klaus started smoking.
Diego's puzzle, which he insists isn't his, keeps finding more pieces. Five and Diego work on it together. He watches them work on it together. He watches Luther help, before getting up to change the record on father's phonograph.
Karma, Leave These Kids Alone
Summary: Klaus is right, because he usually is. Their childhood was worth fearing. But it wasn’t all bad, she thinks, and some guilt pangs her. I wouldn’t wish this on us, but I’m glad I got him out of it. I’m glad Claire is safe.
She holds out her hand for him, and he takes it.
aka, A meditation on Allison and her traumas, guilts, fears, and loves. Centered around her and Klaus, their love for one another, and how that changes her love and fear for Claire.
Rating: NR⎜Pairing: Gen⎜Word Count: 2k+⎜Complete (1/1)
Allison and Klaus complicated feelings part deux! Now with added Claire feelings! The story centers around Allison’s fear of her daughter having powers, which I would read 100 fics about, and because it’s an Oceansweather fic, it doesn’t stop there. The Hargreeves are adults now who are trying to understand their childhood, and how they relate to each other. It’s complex and sad and it hurts but also it’s healing and growth and love.
He laughed that familiar laugh.
Why would she see the dead? Well, she has an imaginary friend like you used to. She has nightmares. Klaus, I am terrified for her. How did you know it was real? He was quiet, and then he said, well, I could see them. I always could. If she doesn’t see them, she doesn’t see the dead, right?
And Allison said yes. That makes sense. And then Klaus was quiet for a while longer, and then he gagged, and then he said, well, why are you terrified for her? She heard the venom in his voice.
Same As It Ever Was
Summary: He tries to love the heels. Really, he does. He knows Dave loves him in them. He knows, hey, it’s his job to look good. Right? Dave fixes cars and Klaus fixes dinner and cleans the house and looks oh so pretty. So, yes, he has to wear the heels. He doesn’t own any other shoes and he can’t go walking around barefoot. Not with his toenails painted black. Why were they black again? And, say, why did his wrist look so blank? He traced a shape that he couldn’t place onto his skin and waited for something to appear. Like invisible ink. aka, Life is perfect for the Hargreeves, which must mean something is wrong. How fortunate that Klaus is smarter than anyone gives him credit for.
Rating: NR⎜Pairing: Klaus/Dave, Diego/Eudora, Five/Delores⎜Word Count: 8k+⎜Complete (1/1)
This fic is so. freaking. cool. It’s closest probably to a horror story? It’s definitely creepy and uneasy, but it’s also melancholy and thrilling and - very importantly -it features Smart Capable Underestimated but Badass Klaus! I am willing to bet you have not read anything else in the fandom like this, and that you are going to be absolutely captivated. I know I am!
Klaus doesn’t want to see Dave, which is not a feeling he should have. He knows this. He knows he wants to see Dave every day for the rest of his life. So why is he running? Why are his feet carrying him to the bathroom? Why is he locking the door? The tumblers clang into place. His hands shake and he’s going to fall over and brain himself if he doesn’t catch his balance. He can only remember feeling so terrified twice in his life—except he can’t. He can’t remember it at all. So he can’t remember ever feeling this terrified.
It’s just Dave.

alright guess who’s rolling in a smooth fifteen and a half years late with some 2004 movie takes because I just rewatched it
i mean we’ve all seen the 2004 movie none of the following words are going to be new or anything but it gave me something to do
-for the record, the last time I watched this was…..2016 or earlier???? I would put it on in the background sometimes because it was the only snicket media content available -but as referenced in my backstory post, I did indeed see it in 2004. -i BEGGED my parents to take me to see it. they did not. -we were out to a late lunch/early dinner right after it came out, and I kept grabbing my mom’s watch and telling her how far away we were from the next showing and since the restaurant was so close to the movie theater that we could definitely make it in time. -we still did not go. -but, as per the post, one of my best friends had a birthday party where we all went to the movies to see it. -probably because our librarian had read us the bad beginning, but my class was SUPER into the series. there was one kid who wrote all his creative writing assignments in lemony’s style. -i wonder if he’s still into the series……..
-you know all this time later I still don’t know how I feel about the littlest elf. how do people feel about the littlest elf?? like props for pulling an unauto reference but……...littlest elf -but I did just notice one of the elves is holding a SHOTGUN
-okay the feel to this though. like…..god the aesthetic is so good in this movie -the gears and the clocktower and the fog and that beach and just…….fuck -oh no my mind is spinning. like I know this isn’t the reason but those trees poking out of the water is just giving me massive ‘clusterous forest after it presumably flooded’ vibes -i think the movie, for all it fails re: most of the emotions, really gives a sense of emptiness and loneliness though, the city and the landscape feel small and contained -i like jude law’s voice and I like what they did with lemony in this movie but I love and will always love patrick warburton. -the spyglass doesn’t work here either because it never got the chance to pan out because there was only one movie and it’s still too early and forcing it right away because there’s no timeeeeeee
-i like jim carrey a lot better when he’s not being, jim carrey -you know what I mean???? -like he’s so good in eternal sunshine, I love eternal sunshine -like I like nph a lot as olaf but I also feel…..it’s very nph. like I don’t look at carrey’s olaf and think ‘that’s 100% olaf’ but I don’t look at nph’s olaf and think ‘that’s 100% olaf’ EITHER there’s something still very much of the actor about both their interpretations as if they both leaned too much into the absurdity that was in olaf (carrey acting for the troupe and like 80% of his mannerisms in the movie, nph in slippery slope and the musical numbers) but not hard enough into what made olaf olaf -idk -i think they both had really good menacing!olaf moments though – nph in hostile hospital, carrey threatening violet at the end, those are ones that still really stand out to me, and that’s really important to olaf’s character, he was a villain and he wasn’t always that smart but he was capable of such cruelty just as much as absurdity -but not enough for me to look at either and say ‘that hit everything I wanted someone to hit in olaf’ -and it’s not even a matter of them downplaying the cruelty to hit you with it later for mood whiplash or anything, there wasn’t enough of all the parts of olaf to give that whiplash
-i have nothing to say about the troupe I just don’t even want to go there
-i’m getting ahead of myself here in the movie but like, we all know that klaus takes a lot of violet’s moments in this movie, especially her biggest one in the marvelous marriage climax, and thinking about that makes me mad about all the netflix moments in s3 where klaus did more than violet too, and now I’m like, really incredulous that that happened in netflix too
-the lil fort scene has always stuck in my mind ever since I was a kid
-weird props to the movie for having their names on the custody document as ‘sunny, klaus, and violet’
-‘last chance superette’ okay well that’s something
-the car and the train has also been something that stuck with me a lot -like…….i actually really like this scene a lot and I’m trying to, explain why -it’s a really scary scene!! there’s a lot of tension and I appreciate that a lot!! it’s not canon but it’s remarkably well done and I think it honestly fits really well, it’s something olaf would do, and the fact that poe is upset because sunny was driving and not that olaf wanted to kill them, that’s, at least there’s that -(i really like the books pulling out when klaus remembers something too) -like I really don’t know why but I like it framed like this. I LIKE the movie framed like this. that they get taken away from olaf so quickly by something so absurd that isn’t why they should be taken away but wind up in his hands again at the end and then they get away again and typing it out makes it sound so….repetitive and stupid and like it doesn’t make sense but idk. idk!!!! there is something about it I like -like repetitive for the movie, because it’s, contained as itself as one movie, but, maybe a little close to the books -hmmmmm -still can’t word this right -i guess just, in terms of the movie!canon, it was styled well, for how the movie was structured -(of course it falls apart when klaus has to do violet’s stuff at the end of the movie that just fucks it all up. but right here. I did like it.)
-the movie’s “there’s always something” vs netflix’s “i’m gonna fix this”……….both are good
-monty brought the strongest vfd vibes in this movie didn’t he re: spyglass, lost his wife in a fire, violet remembering the song monty sings -i’ve said this before and this is completely unrelated but I don’t think going to peru was intended as a vfd recruiting thing -oh no wait this is very related, here??? in the movie???? “we’ll be among people who understand us” who value clever children or whatever, oh yeah movie!monty was gonna do it -(i need to think more about monty re: vfd and his experiences because, there’s a lot of possibilities here, honestly, and I think because we don’t see monty in atwq and he’s so early in the series proper that I don’t consider him in vfd and what that meant for him as much as I should)
-both versions of like the physical reptile room inspire such adventure and excitement……….i love that….those big windows and all the reptiles…….
-the sanctuary theme would be better in a different movie because like, the series isn’t about ‘sanctuary’ per se -it’s about something close to that but not ‘sanctuary’ for sure, like that’s such a weak, barely skimming the surface reading of the themes
-you know???? netflix!gustav was good. -like I don’t want to just compare the movie to the netflix show the whole time you know because they ARE separate entities although based on the same source and just have completely different takes and for both some of those takes were good and some of them were bad, but I never did like that image of gustav -i did like the dart in netflix though. a one good moment…. -(it’s also hard to compare them because 1-3 is all we got with the movie and 1-4 were some of the only books solidly done by netflix)
-klaus saying “everything happens for a reason” that’s never been a favorite saying of mine
-“it is a curious thing, the death of a loved one” is a line that’s pained me so much the older I’ve gotten and I care about it a lot because it’s so true, and I think it works better as narration than josephine saying it (I thought it was out of character for her to say it in netflix actually) BUT I ALSO get so pissed that the movie leaves out “as your mind tries to adjust to the way things are now” or however the rest of the quote goes
-reptile room in netflix after monty dies though is real top-notch and I love it a lot, this one is just, it’s decent but it’s rushed -i could say that about the whole movie, it’s decent but it’s rushed -the thing about the movie though is that like. it hits the major overall notes of the plot of each book just in a very quick and short and therefore low-key manner and because it’s a movie and an hour 48 minutes and they have to rush so netflix, spacing it out in two episodes, had more time and could do it better -and yet. at the same time. -we all know that one of my top complaints about the netflix show is that they too rushed a lot of scenes that I think should have been slower, that were slower in the books -and it’s not like I think the movie did a better job. because the movie fails in a lot of ways, and doesn’t go anywhere into the trauma or any of the real sadness -and even though it fails like that and cuts so much short. there are moments where I think it works better -and I’m trying to tell myself this isn’t just because I’m still living the ‘incredibly outraged at netflix even now, especially lately’ life and I’m not just picking one over the other because I don’t want to -and I’m trying to think of a moment more than just the letter at the end that the movie gave time to the kids to feel something and I can’t (and I can’t count the letter because it’s, the letter) but -i do think the movie let things stretch for even a second longer -it could be the aesthetic because I love the aesthetic of the movie a lot -i don’t know I think….both of them have strengths, netflix had more time but the movie hit a closer aesthetic, at least to me -and netflix didn’t USE that time, is what I’m getting at, and somehow the movie had just a tinier bit more time even though it was shorter, but that probably is just because, the aesthetic, I am a sucker for it -i think this part has something to do with my feelings about netflix’s vfd subplot, that’s probably, where this is coming from, and sometimes I think the clothing and the scenery in the netflix show especially in s1 was very colorful which is fine really that’s such a petty thing to dislike
-“doesn’t it strike you as odd that none of our relatives are related to us?” is still top notch
-although josephine has the pictures I still think monty does have the stronger vfd vibes. -i love the way that window curtain opens!! fucking terrifying!!!!! -i think of jane lynch turning around and saying “is this a bad time?” even now that’s still hilarious
-okay this is it. -this is really truly the one thing the movie did better than the netflix show, and a lot of people feel the same way about this -hurricane herman. -(it was so…….kidsy and kind of charming in the show. and even in the books it wasn’t charming. it was a lot shorter, but not charming.) -like this is legitimately terrifying and how all josephine’s fears come true is one of the most PERFECT things -don’t TEMPT me by saying “[ike] was investigating fires” because I don’t have the time to have ike thoughts right now because that almost lines up with a wip I have, so fuck you -(when I fell asleep to this movie the other day I thought to myself ‘gee hope I don’t wake up during the hurricane scene’ I did in fact wake up then and had to turn the volume down.)
-i think when it was 2004 and I was watching this in the theater I did not watch the leeches, ten year old!me wasn’t having it -there’s a lot of fear in this movie, I’ll say that though, it doesn’t hit the sadness but it hits some of the fear
-here we go, back to bad beginning content -“and what about what I want?” he got the creepiness really good though ugggggg
-okay as many things as I think are not okay but decent in this movie, f u c k  y o u for giving klaus the grappling hook and rescuing sunny!! fuck you for having him burn the paper and not letting violet do the left-handed thing!!! why even change that????? why e v e n there’s no reason to change it -how dare olaf say “rapscallion” in this that’s one of my favorite words -god the soundtrack was so good though………... -“right hand please” yeah I will slap you -klaus is the only one who gets these sad flashbacks god movie I was giving you, some, benefit, of the doubt, watching this as an adult, until this part, when I just, nah man -“these children tried to tell you but you didn’t listen” this is NOT the speech for OLAF to give -movie you were doing okay but you just REALLY fell apart here. none of this is okay -even the ‘these happy things happened! no they did not because the world doesn’t work that way’ falls flat against how lemony would say that in the books, seeing it ruins it -it actually reminds me of the ‘look at all these side characters having happy endings’ in s3 though
-i did always like this scene too though. where they go back to the mansion at the end -i liked the staircase, too. -i will say, there is something….very emotional, about finding something from a loved one, after they’re gone, that you didn’t know they did for you, or that they did at all, and to find it so suddenly. I think the spirit behind the letter in general, not the content and not the weird optimistic ending it leads to, but just the spirit of the letter, is close to violet and klaus and sunny reminiscing on their parents in the books
-the movie was before the beatrice letters but, lemony hanging out in a clocktower with these pigeons and bea’s letter having been delivered by pigeons…….
-ultimately, yes. it was decent, but rushed. -it wasn’t as ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE as I remember saying it was a few years ago, if I think about it as a self-contained sort of thing, there were some things I liked or appreciated, the costumes and the scenery and the soundtrack fit my mental image of the books -although you know what???? you know something i did not consider until the movie was over??? that could just be, I DID see the movie when I was first reading the books as a kid and it may have just stuck with me as The Image I Had And Sometimes Still Do For Parts Of The Books, huh   -but in terms of how it translated the books, like if I think about 1-3 and what they contain, on more than just a surface level of going through plot beats, yeah, it failed hard, and missed the mark a lot -the last like half hour made me a lot more pissed than ever, though, ugggg -i’d put it on in the background again, though.

Note
all the questions for the ask meme! :)
Wow okay! Thanks anon :)
1. What was your first OTP?
I think the first thing I ever shipped as in, wanted together, was Arnold/Helga from Hey Arnold! as a kid lol. But the first ship I did fandom things for (as in, read fic for them and that kind of stuff) was Derek/Chloe from the Darkest Powers series.
2. What is your current OTP?
At the moment it's definitely Ian/Mickey from Shameless. But it'll probably change to Eve/Villanelle when Killing Eve comes back on.
3. Do you have any OT3/OT+ ships? What are your favorites?
Not any hardcore ones no. I'm monogamous and therefore I have a very monogamous view on things when it comes to shipping. Most of the time when I "ship" OT3's it's because I love all three characters and want them to be happy. (Ex: Eleanor/Max/Anne from Black Sails)
I guess the only OT3 I actually ship in a sense where I think it's meant to be an OT3 is Miguel/Tulio/Chel from The Road to El Dorado. Because come on, that was pretty much canon. Miguel and Tulio were raging bisexuals who were in love with each other and with Chel.
4. What is/are your favorite trope(s)?
Enemies-to-friends-to-lovers is my JAM. I love ships where I can look at their very first scene together and I think "wow who would have thought????" (Gallavich is a perfect example of this btw)
I also really love opposites attract and childhood friends to lovers.
5. What is/are your least favorite trope(s)?
Evil man is only redeemed because of his "love" for a woman. I love redemption arcs but they have to be well done and that ain't it lol.
I'm also not usually into ships that start off as affairs. (Where one or both of the characters are cheating on their current significant other with each other). Unless the character(s) they're cheating on is/are awful, I always feel too bad for them.
6. Do you have a certain kind of ship you’re more attracted to?
Not really tbh. I have tropes that I definitely enjoy (see above) but I've shipped a wide variety of different kinds of pairings.
7. Are most of your ships “pure” or “problematic”?
I think I have a good mixture of both kinds? There's been times where I thought a ship was pure but other people in fandom circles find some sort of reason to tear into them. (See: Katniss/Peeta from The Hunger Games)
8. Who is the most shippable person you can think of?
Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender. My main OTP for him is obviously Zuko/Katara but I see the appeal of a bunch of his other ships as well. Also Bonnie from The Vampire Diaries.
9. Are there any fandoms you don’t have any ships for?
Stranger Things. I'm all about the platonic relationships on that show.
10. Do characters have to have canon interactions for you to ship them?
I think so, yeah. I can't think of anything I've shipped where the characters didn't directly interact with each other at least once.
11. What makes a great ship in your own opinion?
When you get the essence that they just compliment and complete each other.
12. What drives you away from a ship?
When they are rushed. If I feel like a ship is forced or happened too fast, it gets completely ruined for me.
13. Is there anything you ship but refuse to interact with the community for?
Ngl this was the Gallavich fandom for a while until I found my own little circle lol
14. Has a fanbase ever made you ship or not ship something? Why?
Bellamy/Clarke from The 100. (As in, I stopped shipping them). This was a mixture of the fanbase and just losing interest in the show in general though. But members of the B*llarke fandom showing their homophobic asses when Clarke/Lexa happened definitely didn't help.
15. Do you like/participate in ship wars? Why or why not?
I don't like them and try to avoid them. The only time I actively participated in ship wars was during my TVD days lol. Luckily there aren't really any ship wars in the Shameless or Killing Eve fandom because everyone ships Gallavich and Villaneve. I just think it's a waste of time. I'd rather debate over more interesting things.
16. Are there any ships you just can’t/don’t understand? What are they?
The only example I can think of is Klaus/Caroline from TVD. Or rather, I never understood why they were so popular. That was the most forced shit I've ever seen and they had little to no substance lol. Most of the time I do understand ships, even if I hate them.
17. Are there any popular ships that you just don’t like? What are they?
Rey/Kylo. Damon/Elena. Klaus/Caroline. Spike/Buffy. Jon/Dany and Jon/Sansa. Those are all the super big ones I think.
18. What is your favorite unpopular ship?
Once upon a time I would have said Finn/Rey from Star Wars but they were ruined for me. I still love TFA! Finnrey though.
19. Do you prefer fluff, angst, or smut for your ships?
Why not all?
20. Do you prefer bigger fanbases or smaller ones?
They both have their plus and minuses. With bigger fanbases, you have more fan content to enjoy. But smaller fandoms seem cozier and as someone who is shy, it's kind of easier for me to participate in smaller fandoms. So idk.
21. Have you ever received hate for a ship you liked?
That time someone called me a Zutara shipper as an insult over a Killing Eve post lol. That was wild.
22. Do you have any ships that you ship, but would never want to see as canon?
Nope don't think so. If I would be against something going canon, I'm probably not going to ship it at all.
23. Have you ever had a ship become canon, but you didn’t like how it was portrayed?
Jaime/Brienne from Game of Thrones lmao. I would have rather they were never canon if it was just gonna lead to that. I still have hope that they'll play out better in the books but it's unlikely at this point that GRRM will even finish them.
24. What is your favorite canon ship?
I have an ocean of them. That's too wide of a question.
25. What are your favorite ships from a dead fandom?
Define dead. Like not active anymore? I have a lot of old school book OTP's with fandoms that are now dead. Derek/Chloe from Darkest Powers. Adrian/Sydney from Bloodlines. Raffe/Penryn from Angelfall. And Damon/Bonnie from the TVD books, which was the first ship I ever write fic for actually lol. And I wrote a bunch.
26. What are your favorite shipping scenes?
"Sorry I'm late" - Gallavich
"I feel things when I'm with you" - Villaneve
"I think I'm the one that should be thanking you" - Zutara
"I do. I need you." - Everlark
"You're all that matters to me." - Pricefield
"There is nothing important that does not include you." - Maxanne
27. What are your views on reader x canon ships?
I'm not into them but whatever floats people's boats
28. What is your best shipping advice?
Don't engage in ship wars. They're not worth it. Just find your own friends in the fandom that share similiar opinions to your own (or who you can disagree with respectfully) and stick with them. It makes things more fun.
29. Do you like OCs (Original Characters)?
I don't mind them if they're used sparingly. I can't usually get into fics where the OC's are one of the main focuses though.
30. What are some of your favorite shipping blogs?
Depends on what ship you're talking about

Umbrella Academy: Klaus/Dave
Author’s note: After reading this awesome post  calling attention to Dave’s obvious infatuation in the club scene, I thought about it for a while, especially about Klaus as the object of desire, the one being pined for rather than the one doing the pining (which, as @greenandhazy points out, is quite the departure from what we usually see when a main character meets their love interest. So, that’s what informed this oneshot here.
Also tagging @lovinglydiego—if I tagged the wrong blog, let me know and I’ll change it.
“So there I was, chocolate pudding all over my cheeks, all up my ass crack, and all I could think was God, I am so fucking hungry right now.”
Dave laughed. Not the insincere laugh of a pseudo-friend waiting to see how useful he’d wind up being, not the silence and rolled eyes of his siblings—a real one that tipped his head back toward the ceiling. Klaus had been smiling before, but he found himself laughing too.
“So what’d you do?”
“Waited for it to dry, peeled it off.” Klaus took a sip of his drink. Alcohol didn’t quite keep the ghosts at bay, not as well as drugs did, but it could quiet them enough to hear his own thoughts. “And let me tell you, that is not something I’d wish on…okay, maybe I’d wish it on a few people.”
Dave laughed again. “No, I mean, did you?”
“Did I….oh! Did I eat chocolate pudding off my own ass?”
“Yeah. You said you were hungry.”
“Nope. I learned an important lesson that day.”
“Which is?”
He took another sip. “That I do have standards after all.”
“Really.”
From Luther or Allison, that would have been an insult, a small verbal slap to remind him that what he’d said was a lie. But from Dave, it was the same sort of good-natured jab he might level at any other soldier in their platoon. “Sure I do! I mean, they’re low, but I’ve got ‘em.”
“Well,” Dave said, leaning against the wall, “glad they’re not too high.”
Klaus’ stomach fluttered, then twisted. Three different responses, ranging from flirtatious to borderline pornographic, popped into his head, but he didn’t dare voice any of them. Not for any uncertainty on his part—the looks Dave had given him, the ease with which he’d linked his arm through his, the way he stood close enough that Klaus could feel the warmth of his skin through his sleeve, left little doubt toward Dave’s preference. He could retort with any of the three quips he’d thought of—or the far filthier fourth one he’d just come up with—and had a feeling Dave would reply in kind.
That was the problem.
Klaus knew he’d let the silence go on too long, filled though it was by the music and mingled hum of dozens of conversations and dancing feet. Part of him would have been content to stand there beside Dave, feeling the closeness of him and drawing comfort from it, but he’d a hunch that any more silence would invite Dave to fill it with a more overt remark than his last.
“Still no word from home?”
Klaus gazed down at his drink, tried to resist a sip, and took one anyway. “If they did send me something, it’d probably just be a picture of them all flipping me the bird.”
“Huh.”
Letters from home weren’t common, but each man in Klaus’ platoon had received at least one since being shipped out—a few after that briefcase dropped him into their tent, most before that point. Klaus had made the mistake of mentioning that he’d never gotten a single letter since arriving in country, and while he’d had the good sense to be vague about how long that had been, he’d still made himself an object of curiosity for the others.
No. Not curiosity. Pity. It was quiet, the sort that didn’t often surface in scattered remarks or louder exclamations, but he felt it all the same, pressing around him like the humid heat of the jungle whenever the topic of families surfaced. Each man in his platoon projected it to varying degrees, but it was always strongest coming from Dave.
“What about your brother….Diego?”
“Ah, c’mon. Guy’s got a busy schedule, pretending he doesn’t have a family.”
Not that Klaus could blame him; he’d done much the same. Then again, if Diego vanished for weeks with no word, no one would assume he’d OD’d for the last time in some seedy backroom or alley or coded in an ambulance accompanied by exasperated paramedics unable to revive him.
“Tell you what,” Dave said, and Klaus looked to him, saw him with his elbow propped against the wall. “I’ll tell my mom to meet us both once we get back to the States. Let her know I’m bringing a friend.”
Klaus smiled. The notion of returning at the same time as someone you’d met out in the jungle—let alone knowing you’d return at all—was a dream. His first brush with enemy gunfire had been enough to tell him that, even without the mangled ghosts of former brothers in arms to scream the same warning. That first spray of bullets alone had made the notion of dashing for Hazel and Cha-Cha’s briefcase at the first sign of serious trouble look like the world’s worst joke.
But unlike some dreams, this was one he liked. The thought of being shipped back with Dave, of sitting beside him on a train or whatever else he’d take back to the city from which they both hailed—it was one he could entertain for hours, one he’d hold onto long after the many rips and tears in the logic of it threatened to swallow the daydream whole.
“No, I’m serious. I’ll let her know you’re coming, make sure she’s waiting. Tell her to bring more cookies.”
“Fresh ones this time?”
Dave laughed again. Klaus could listen to that laugh for hours. “If Mom saw the state of those cookies when they got here, she’d buy a ticket to the White House and give Johnson a piece of her mind.”
Johnson. Right. Old Lyndon B. was president here in 1968. “Didn’t you say you wrote her already?”
“Ah, yeah. Forgot about that.” Dave grinned. “Now that she’s good and mad about what the Army did to her cookies, the war should be over any day now.”
The cookies had been little more than stale crumbs and broken pieces when Dave opened the package from home. Even so, the box had summoned every man in that tent like moths to a light bulb, set them hovering around awaiting their turn to snatch a handful of cookie pieces. Klaus hadn’t expected Dave to call him over, too—he was the new guy, after all—but after weeks of legendary Army food and tepid water flavored with iodine and grainy with the bodies of insects it had killed, those stale crumbs had tasted like heaven.
He noticed Dave moving closer without raising his head, didn’t flinch as he ran a hand through his hair. The thought of what he should do occurred after that first touch, and by then Klaus could only close his eyes.
Dave’s hand cupped the back of his head, pulled him closer. Not forcefully, not with any sort of coercion, but softly, in invitation.
“Nobody’s gonna catch us.”
Klaus opened his eyes. Dave’s voice was just audible over the somewhat muffled music, but it was the note of consolation that got his attention. His smile had turned gentle, comforting. The top buttons of his shirt were undone, and it wouldn’t take much to finish the job.
“It’s okay.” Dave moved a few inches closer, not quite close enough to press his body against his but close enough for Klaus to imagine how it would feel. “Or we can head somewhere a little more private, if you want.”
Klaus bit back an eager reply. “Dave, I….”
Fingers brushed through his hair again, and Klaus resisted the urge to trace the line of Dave’s jaw.
“What? The question was gentle, like one of those breezes just strong enough to cool the air. “Klaus, what’s wrong?”
“Why?”
Dave’s smile had faded a bit, but it curled ever closer toward a frown and Klaus spoke quickly.
“I mean—why me?”
“What do you mean, why you?”
Klaus blinked. For a moment, he nearly brought all the unspoken things out into the light, but he didn’t know where to begin or what Dave had guessed already, if he was still wrapped up in the Maybe he has a problem stage or if he was already on his way to Even a fucking war zone can’t keep this guy clean. Whatever the case, he’d know sooner rather than later.
Back in the present, or the future, or whatever the hell it was, Klaus wouldn’t have cared. He hadn’t cared with Antonio, or Alessio—he couldn’t recall which name he’d been given at introduction; all he remembered was a pretty face and a place to sleep, delicious osso bucco and a decaying sense of optimism—a belief that there was some good in him, good that Antonio or Alessio or whoever he was could fan into greatness once Klaus stopped longing for the next high.
Three weeks. Three weeks under his roof, in his bed, and Klaus couldn’t remember his name.
“Why not you?”
Klaus could have offered a list—alphabetized, or in order of importance—but the look in Dave’s eyes kept the list in his head, kept any further words there too.
There was tenderness in that glance—a tenderness he’d seen before, but never so pure, unmitigated by any flicker of disappointment or longing. It wasn’t the kind of look that tried to stare past what he was, what he’d depended on since his teens and what he’d done to get it, to see a few sparks of beauty and kindness underneath. No, from the way Dave looked at him, all of that alleged goodness was all he saw. He looked at Klaus as if Klaus was fun and joy and love and everything else he deserved.
Dave leaned in closer, and Klaus knew he ought to pull away. Duck out of his embrace, head back out into the club and leave Dave alone. A little disappointment now would save him from far more heartbreak down the road.
Dave touched his lips to his.
It was a gentle kiss, so soft and subdued that for an instant all Klaus felt was the pleasant warmth of Dave’s lips; but soon he was aware of nothing but Dave, the scent and taste and feel of him, of being pulled closer and closer but still not close enough. He didn’t want it to end, didn’t want the moment to pass, wanted to freeze time and stay forever if it would keep Dave there.
Too soon, Dave pulled back. Klaus watched that same smile tug at his lips, breath trembling as Dave’s hand brushed his hair, his cheek. For an instant, just an instant, it looked as if Dave might say something; but soon it faded back into a smile so warm Klaus had the sudden urge to cry.
Love. The word sprang to mind with an ease that surprised him. He hadn’t heard it often, hadn’t said it often, yet there it was, written all over Dave’s face, in his touch. He didn’t understand it. Couldn’t explain it, couldn’t guess at why it existed. He could only return it….or reject it.
Without a word, with scarcely a thought, Klaus pulled Dave close and kissed him again.

This week’s episode of the podcast! It’s fully subtitled, but here’s a transcription under the cut.
HEWWO Hello everyone, welcome to Royal Magic Academy Radio, a podcast about Wizardess Heart. I’m your host, Mari. Despite the fact I skipped last week, not a whole lot happened so uh. Yeah. Guess we’re just gonna wing it and this will be a short episode.
GAMING NEWS
We got the CG portion of Yukiyamore for like a week. So yeah. That’s over and done with. In terms of events still going on, we have a new collection event, A Kiss in the Rain, and a brand new spin-off, The Nobility.ANIME EXPOSo we have two more pieces of info for Solmare’s booth at Anime Expo. They announced they’ll be demo-ing their new RPG in the Moe! Ninja Girls series at AX, so I guess there’s hope to get some more content of the other Shall We Date? games. They also said they’ll have a little booth where you can take a picture with one of the characters from Obey Me!, so I’m guessing it’ll be like. A cardboard cut-out, kind of like the ones Bushiroad. I think it’s Bushiroad or Klab... always have for Love Live! But anyway, they did finish off this second post saying “Visit us at AX to see who shows up!” so I kinda wonder if they’ll have other cut-outs to take pictures with. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
FANDOM NEWS
In fandom news, @whevents is holding a telephone game right now with writers and artists! Sign-ups are closed, but the event is well under way with everyone participating working on their parts, so that’s something to look forward to.
CALL AND RESPONSE
So, I thought of this new segment, and I thought it over for 3 seconds and decided that it was a great idea, so we're just gonna go for it. Um, this is Call and Response. So basically, I will post a prompt, or like a question, or something, on Twitter or Tumblr, and ask you guys to respond to it and then I'll... go off-script and read the responses on the podcast and um... I really did not think this through and I did not realize what I was doing as you guys will find out 'cause I have re- like, I've read the responses so I know what you guys have said, um, I didn't think some of this was gonna happen, so... *laughing* I really... In hindsight, I really should have, considering... like, considering I'm friends with a lot of you guys so I really should've, you know, seen this coming, but I did not because I'm oblivious and I'm a fool and naive. And also I can't hold my microphone right right now. Anyway um... The initial post I made said "give me hilarious and overly specific wizardess heart-themed asmr ideas it’s for science i mean the podcast."
So the first response I'm gonna read is from someone I considered a dear friend of mine, @nadia-the-wizardess, and this is someone who I love very much, and somebody I thought I could trust *laughing* and... she said, "Asmr idea? How about Sigurd slurping on them noodles." And... I don't like that.... I don't like that at all. I thought we were friends and I thought I could trust you, but clearly not. And clearly I couldn't trust other people like you because someone else said something spaghetti-themed *giggling* And anyway, this was a bad segment idea, we're never doing this again *laugh* No, we probably will, 'cause I'll be like, "Oh, this will be fine," and then alksjdfh you know, it falls apart.
So, somebody who decided to be normal and not make a fetish joke, put in... this is user @dandelionpaint on tumblr, "You are in the school's library at very busy hour. Every once in a while you can hear smack on the head, someone saying "ow" and different person saying "you cant do that"/"stop saying that"/"ugh"/"you are such a pain in the ass"" and honestly? I kin tha- I kin this. I kin that response. I would actually love to hear that, that would be pretty funny.
So the next response is from another person I considered a dear friend of mine who betrayed me so terribly. And *laughing* said... *inhale* God. This was the worst idea to start the segment off. So @sigurdcurtisholdsmegentle said, "You in the dining hall. Sigurd is there. You can hear him slurping his pasta. A never ending bowl of pasta. Just. Sluuuuuuurp." So many of my friends today have betrayed me. I have done nothing wrong ever in my life before, and it hurts *giggling* Okay.
Next response is from @swagmura, who says, um, "Klaus drinking tea with 47 sugar cubes" and then in the tags, "the spoon clinking against the cup as he stirs" and then "#god i love him" and I feel this and honestly I think I would actually listen to this, I'm not gonna lie. I don't like tea, but I'm like, that would be like, a soothing sound. Although the 47 sugar cubes is a little concerning, but I mean... eh, yolo, right?
Um, @theinvisiblefriend-blog suggested a few. And she said, "Randy eating candy. Unwrapping the candy. Chewing the candy. Vincent and Glenn sharpening their knives" ... sharpening their knives their BLADES  "before practicing swordfighting." I can't read even if something is right in front of me. Is anyone surprised at this point? And then the last one is, "Or Leslie cutting loose with some archery practice." Now that one would be super, like, therapeutic, and stuff. I would like that one.
Uh, @stephdaninja said, "Okay I got one:" and then she listed a few. Uh, "Sigurd pillow top-" ... *noises of mic sadness and exasperation* Oh my *laughing* UGH. GOD. NOT TOPPING. Uh, "Sigurd pillow talking with you about your day, Amelia brushing your hair, Elias reading a story for you, Alfonse taking care of you when you're sick in bed, and that's all I've got for now." See?! These are so good! Other friends of mine, these are so good! Although I have to admit, the Alfonse one makes me think of, um, that one ASMR that was going around a while ago and it was like, "16th century nun takes care of you" and then in parentheses, "(you have the plague)" like, I don't know, that kind of... that's kinda what it makes me feel like. Like, "Alfonse takes care of you in his free clinic" parentheses "(you have the Black Robe Plague)" like... I would listen to that, though. I would listen to that.
So yeah, that's the Call and Response segment. I'm never doing this again! *laughter* No. I'll do it again some other time. It won't be ASMR-themed, it'll be something else.
BYE BYE
Yeah, the game’s honestly been slowing down a bit. I kinda wonder if it’s because of Obey Me!, since that should be out fairly soon and it’d make sense to have the other games be a little quiet to entice players to come play the new game. But anyways. Despite not having a lot to talk about, thanks for listening in this week. This is Mari, signing off.

Unsolved Academy Ch2
Klaus and Dave film their first official episode as ghost hunters.
-
”The farther we go down this dirt road, the more I have to wonder if we’re being sent out here to get murdered,” Dave mused as he drove them out into the middle of nowhere, Ben constantly re-checking his map to make sure they really were going the right way.
“Ooh, that would be an exciting start to our show!” Klaus said, feet on the dashboard. “Not exactly the ghost hunting we imagined, but I’m still down.”
“Of course you are,” Dave said, smiling at him as he reached out to take his hand.
“Oh, there it is, take a right up here,” Ben said, pointing to a driveway almost obscured by the underbrush.
It was an old run down single story house, windows boarded up and the lawn overgrown. Klaus didn’t see any ghosts yet, but that didn’t really mean anything, they could be lurking anywhere. Honestly though, even if they never saw any ghosts, he and Dave could still probably come up with enough content to make an amusing enough video. They were good at improvising.
“I know it doesn’t look like much,” Ben said as they all climbed out of the car and started gathering up their gear from the trunk. “But, surprisingly, most people don’t actually want their reputation to be ruined for the sake of filming the first episode of an internet show. An old abandoned house was the best we could swing.”
“Are you kidding? It’s perfect!” Dave said, throwing his arms in the air for emphasis and Klaus couldn’t help but smile at how excited he looked.
“Yeah, we can make our magic work anywhere,” Klaus said, rubbing his hands together.
“I don’t know what you guys had in mind, but usually these types of videos start by going over the history of the building. Unfortunately this place doesn’t have much beyond a sad old man who lived out here alone,” Ben began.
“Way ahead of you!” Dave said. “I spent most of last night reading everything I could find on it!”
“Nerd,” Klaus said, kissing his cheek.
“Seriously, I don’t mind you guys using my computer, but once classes start up again I’m gonna need it back, so you should really think about getting your own,” Ben said.
Klaus waved a dismissive hand at Ben as he turned to Dave. “Got enough to spin a tale or two up, love?”
“Of course,” Dave said.
“Great, let’s get started then!”
“Maybe we should film an introduction out here before we lose the sunlight,” Ben suggested.
“Good idea. Thanks for helping out, by the way,” Klaus said to Ben. “Who better to have help hunt ghosts than a former ghost?”
“Who better to have help than someone who actually has a computer and knows how to use it,” Ben corrected. “You’re useless and Dave still has a long way to go.”
“Hey, I’m not completely useless with computers,” Klaus objected.
“Being famous on Vine doesn’t count, especially now that it’s gone.”
“Rude.”
“What’s Vine?” Dave chimed in.
“I should see if I can find a compilation somewhere, you should really know what kind of man you’re dating,” Ben said.
“You have no idea who you’re talking to,” Klaus laughed. “He would have been right there doing them with me.”
“Damn, you’re right, what have I gotten myself into?”
“Sorry bro, looks like you’re doomed to spend your second life watching me do stupidly dangerous stunts too.”
“At least I can bring the aid kit now.”
-
“Oh man, can you imagine having a bad trip in a place like this?” Dave said, slowly spinning the camera around the room to get plenty of footage of the decay and rot. The sun had almost set completely now so Klaus was setting up some lamps and flashlights.
“Don’t need to,” Klaus said, winking at him.
“No way, really?”
“Oh you bet. I thought this place looked familiar. Honestly, if there’s an abandoned building in town, I’ve probably gotten high in it at some point.”
“You are one of a kind, you know that?” Dave said.
“And thank god for that, I’m sure,” Klaus said, striking a pose.
“And I’m the lucky one who gets you all to myself,” Dave said, putting his arm around Klaus’ shoulders and pulling him close to place a kiss on his cheek.
“Aw, babe!” Klaus wasn’t sure he’d ever really get used to Dave’s casual affection, but he certainly appreciated it.
“So what’s next?” Ben called as he entered the house with some more lighting equipment and a bag of snacks.
“I thought we could start by going down that nice creepy hallway,” Klaus said, gesturing.
“Have you seen anything yet?” Dave asked, handing the camera back to Ben.
“Nah, and I don’t really want to try to summon them up and ruin the authenticity. Let’s face it, if there’s any ghosties here, they’re probably waiting to jump out and spook me.”
“To be fair,” Dave said. “If I was a ghost, I’d probably want to fuck with people too.”
“I mean, that’s pretty much what I did,” Ben said with a shrug, readying the camera. “Mostly just Klaus though.”
“Love you too, bro,” Klaus said as he turned to the hallway. He skipped up to the closest door, drumming his hands on it as he raised his voice. “Wakey, wakey! Any ghosts in there? It’s time to get to haunting!”
“Yeah, we’re just a couple of useless fools in deeper than we realize,” Dave said, voice also raised. “We’d certainly deserve a good haunting right about now!”
“Come haunt us, what are you waiting for? time to come out and do your thing!”
“I don’t want to tell you how to do your jobs,” Dave said, “But there’s a doorway here, it’d be a perfect place for you to jump out and scare me. I’d love that.”
He jumped around the corner, looking excited and ready for anything, but nothing happened. He looked very disappointed.
“How about this,” Klaus said, patting Dave sympathetically on the back. “How about, if you don’t do a good enough job spooking us, we’ll never leave. This’ll be our home now.”
“Oh, I like it,” Dave said. “Here that ghosts? This place is ours now! Unless you want to get out here and defend it.”
“Yeah, come on, fight me!” Klaus says, then to Dave adds, “God I hope a ghost jumps out and murders me. That’d be so cool.”
“That is definitely something I’d love to see,” Dave agreed. “Well, maybe not the murder part, I don’t know how to avenge you if it’s a ghost.”
“I’m sure you’ll figure it out.”
-
It was thirsty work, running around yelling at nothing. The first hallway a bust, they took a moment to grab some water before heading to the nearest bedroom to give it a shot. Klaus doubted they’d find anything in here either, but he might as well have a little fun with it. He kicked the door completely open and charged right in. Movement out of the corner of his eye caught his attention and threw him off. Reflexively he chucked his water bottle at whatever it was.
“Christ!” he exclaimed as he realized it was the ghost of an old woman, pale and gaunt. The water bottle flew through her and clattered harmlessly against the far wall.
“Ghost?” Dave guessed. Then he held out his own bottle of water. “Want to try again?”
The ghost didn’t look all that surprised to see them and Klaus wondered if they were the first to come barging in here ghost hunting. Probably not. He also wondered if this ghost had been here the first time he’d visited. Hopefully she wouldn’t remember him if so. She said something in a language he didn’t know which was impressive because he knew quite a few. You pick a lot up when you have people shouting at you your whole life in various languages.
“Yes, yes, hello,” he said, waving a hand. “I have no idea what you’re saying.”
“Is she not going to attack us?” Dave asked, looking crestfallen.
“Nah, she looks harmless enough. Hey how about this!” He grabbed Dave, pulling him forward so they were standing in the ghost. The ghost made some sort of exclamation but Klaus ignored her. “One thing people get wrong is the whole cold spot thing. When you’re standing right on top of a ghost, it doesn’t really feel like anything. Do you feel any different, Dave?” “No, not really,” he said. “Wait. Wait, hang on, it’s starting to feel a little cold now. What’s happening?”
“Oh. Oh actually, she found that very offensive.” Klaus said, hand on Dave’s arm as he urged him a couple steps back as the ghost started yelling at them, gesturing wildly. “Look, miss, I’m very sorry, we didn’t--” He stopped because she was clearly not listening, and instead began shuffling Dave and Ben out of the room. “Oh, yeah, we should go. We should definitely go, hurry.”
Dave practically giggled as the three of them fled and Klaus couldn’t help but join in.
“Were you getting scolded or was she crying?” Dave asked once they were a few rooms away. “Because that’ll decide how funny I think all that was.”
“She was absolutely pissed” Klaus exclaimed. “I was afraid for my life!”
“At least we know how the whole cold spot thing works now,” Dave said. “Just don’t make them angry! Unless of course you could do with a nice cool breeze.”
-
“Can you imagine doing this for a living?” Dave said excitedly as he dropped to the floor, leaning against the wall, water in hand as they took a break. Klaus sat down next to him and laid with his head in Dave’s lap.
“You realize that if this takes off and we really can make a living this way, we’d essentially be being paid to mess around and have fun,” Klaus said, grinning up at him. “No more job applications for me, and no more mopping for you!”
“So you’re really okay with this?” Dave asked, suddenly looking concerned, his hands brushing through Klaus’ hair, massaging his scalp.
“What, are you kidding? Of course I am! Why wouldn’t I be?”
“Well, I mean, you have spent most of your life trying to avoid seeing ghosts. Now we’re seeking them out. How does that feel?”
“Kind of amazing actually,” Klaus said with a laugh. “It’s like I’m finally getting my revenge, keeping them up all night for a change.”
“I’m glad,” Dave said, adjusting to pull Klaus closer into his arms so he could capture his lips in a quick kiss. “Hey, I just wanna make sure you know, I’m proud of you.”
“Aw, come on,” Klaus said, trying to brush aside the compliment, giving Dave’s shoulder a shove but it was half-hearted and he didn’t pull away.
“No I mean it,” Dave continued. “Look how far you’ve come, how long you’ve been sober. I know how hard this has been on you, I just want you to know that what you’ve done is no easy feat. No matter what the future holds, and no matter what you decide to do, I’m just so proud of you.”
Most people seemed to think that all this was just Klaus doing the bare minimum, nothing to be proud of. It was discouraging, especially with how much Klaus struggled with it, but it was also weird for someone to actually acknowledge how hard he was trying. Weird, but nice, knowing he didn’t have to pretend with Dave, that he wanted to celebrate even the seemingly inconsequential because it was important to Klaus.
“Okay, we were trying to have a moment and talking about messing with ghosts, it’s not fair to turn it around on me like that. If I cry it’s gonna smudge my eyeliner and I’ve gotta go back on camera like that, Dave!”
“Sorry, sorry,” Dave said, but he was grinning and didn’t look at all apologetic. Still, he pulled Klaus into another hug and Klaus couldn’t complain about that.
Klaus readjusted so he could wrap his arms around Dave as well, kissing him. All of this was more than a little terrifying. Getting clean had been the hardest thing Klaus had ever done and it was still a daily struggle. But he didn’t have to do it alone. Things had looked bleak his entire life, but maybe things were starting to look up. He had Dave again, and he was happy. Happier than he thought possible, feeling so incredibly fond and happy and grateful.
-
The last bit of their stay involved them sleeping in the house. Ben left, planning to return to pick them up in the morning. This time, Dave was the light sleeper, startling awake every time the house settled. Nestled against his chest Klaus actually slept okay for a change, spirits reaching out to him through dreams bothering him more than any of the ghosts hanging around there. Waking up in Dave’s arms always made him forget the dreams, though.
“Morning,” he said, sitting up to place a kiss on Dave’s nose.
“How about we pretend it’s not,” Dave said, voice groggy.
“But I’m hungry,” Klaus said, managing to disentangle his limbs from Dave.
“Oh, food does sound good,” Dave admitted, following reluctantly as they crawled out of their blankets and moved to the kitchen.
It was cold this early in the morning in the old drafty house, but that hardly mattered. They draped a blanket over their shoulders and huddled together, sharing a chair as they sifted through the grocery bag of food they’d brought. Klaus couldn’t help but smile as he watched Dave whisper a bracha before they began eating and somehow all of this felt different than any other meal they’d shared together; more intimate, more like home.
Not the building itself of course, the place didn’t matter. Maybe it had something to do with being alone in an empty house together. Well, mostly empty if you didn’t count the ghost. She at least was keeping to herself since their encounter the night before. But with the early morning sunlight streaming in through the windows dying everything golden, Klaus wondered if this was what it would be like, sharing a life with Dave.
Klaus’ future had seemed like some sort of unimaginable, unattainable thing. He only ever lived in the moment because who knew what next week would bring? Nothing ever remained the same and each day saw him in a completely different place with completely different people. It was easier not to get attached to anything. Who even knew if there would even be a future?
But then he’d met Dave, and even with the war raging all around them, somehow it became the easiest thing in the world imagining spending the rest of his life with Dave. Even if everything else changed, he would always have this one constant, this one person he wanted to be happy, to make proud. Suddenly the idea of a future was exciting, even just figuring out the mundane felt like an adventure together. He thought he’d lost Dave once before, and he wouldn’t risk their time together again.
“Not exactly Mom’s cooking, but not a bad way to start the morning,” he said, not really sure how to even put everything he was feeling into words. He reached out and took Dave’s hand, squeezing gently.
“You’re always a good way to start the morning,” Dave said, kissing his cheek. “Nothing else really matters.”
“Aw, sap. Even waking up in an old abandoned house?” Klaus elbowed him gently.
“I’d certainly prefer a building with heating, but yeah,” Dave laughed. “Speaking of, do we have to start living here? Who won the house in the end, us or that ghost lady?”
“Oh she definitely won, hands down,” Klaus said. “She was terrifying.”

klaroline had chemistry and were both popular/beloved characters. i believe that's what attracted ppl to it... ur analyzying a hot vampire show too deeply. if the white girl thing mattered so much, he'd be shipped that hard with elena, hayley, that other white girl from the originals, etc. pretty sure klaus interacted with many white girls and none of it picked up
well, on the one hand i would say that klayley and klamille had/have pretty big fandoms on their own with a sizable impact, but i know what you mean that KC seemed special and out of the ordinary and that’s, imo, due to timing and convenience. klaus was due a “love interest” and this was the “first” girl that seemed to finally draw his interest. if there had been a white witch instead, or elena, under the same circumstances, (i’m gonna kill you, oops, i change my mind, cat and mouse game), it would’ve had just as much hype around it cuz ppl wanted to see klaus courting smb, cuz #klausthirst, i guess. 2012 was a gentler time. also, before KC showed up, there was speculation and klonnie and klena too, but since nothing concrete had happened, it did not seem to take over the fandom as KC did.
i think KC’s big appeal is less about chemistry (more about that in a minute) and more about facility and self-referentiality. so for instance this ship could be teased in the last season of TO precisely because it’s not really reliant on any storyline or character beats, it’s somehow independent of the show, it has its own universe and it can pop up on tvd, TO, legacies etc because it’s more about this illusory dynamic where klaus is caroline’s weakness (he’s not) and where caroline reformed klaus in some way (she didn’t). in fact, KC thrives on “would-be”s and being these “imaginary soulmates”. if caroline and klaus had actually interacted more and had more to do with one another, the ship’s popularity would have been tested by a relationship’s natural progression. but since KC were never rly given a chance, it can live in that ideal place of “canon without consequences”.
the best i can say about them is that they ended up as friends, which is rather more appropriate. (their TO scenes read like two exes who are content with having put their brief stint behind them. in fact, they have far more chemistry as friends)
as for the chemistry, the first KC scene is probably the best because there was a certain warmth and mystery to it that it never managed to equal after 3x11. the rest of the season caroline kept acting more bothered by him than anything else (and not in a fun hot way). their scenes are always a combo of caroline going like “gawd! i can’t believe you’re here!” klaus: you can’t get rid of me so easily, love x 100 but without much impact on the storyline or on each other as characters. klaus doesnt really grow as a person until his stint on TO, let’s face it (and his time with his family and cami) and caroline’s “ethical dilemma” about klaus is not really dealt with (tyler is vilified for it more than her - not that she should be vilified but you don’t get the sense of real conflict) because this whole thing was not thought out very well. hell, even caroline’s attraction to him is infantilized. i mean…. klaus literally comes back for a few scenes just to have sex with her….okay. their emotional scenes are always stunted by lack of good writing (the scene where he stabs her and bites her and then she’s like “you’re in love with me and every person who loves is worth saving” ….is tonally weird, because it has not been earned and it jars with the rest of their dynamic, because such intimacy is hardly ever brought up again). i will say KC had potential for smth interesting, but it’s precisely because of their “no narrative strings attached” policy and because this ship ultimately isn’t that challenging that ppl latched onto to it. and i don’t fault them for it, we all like fast food, i just wish we’d be more critical about it.
(sidenote about whiteness: i feel like caroline was a much easier self-insert to project on than hayley and camille who challenged klaus in far more intimate and visceral ways. again, caroline could have potentially challenged klaus like that, but she never got the chance)

OKAY YOU KNOW WHAT I’LL PROVE MY POINT
Nobody asked me too, but my last reblog made me mad.
It was a post listing ship size, comparing fan-ship to actual ship. Basically, “if it’s a big ship then there’s lot of fanwork”, or “if it’s a bit of a rarepair it’s a Gunboat : you can go to the end of the AO3 tag in weeks, and new fics get added in the meantime.
Well, let me talk to you about Hero Corp, Le Cycle des Balls (The Cycle of the Balls?) and Le Visiteur du Futur (the Visitor From the Future). The french show.
Hero Corp
It is a tv-show, made entierly for the tv, granted not a big cable (a national one nonetheless), but it has such fans that the 5th season was entierly financed by fans in six hours. Most of the people i met on the french side have been interrested in looking it of have watched it.
Now, Kloug is ship that’s kind of a big thing. Like, not everybody ship it, but everyone knows it. All of the fans in the tumblr fandom ship it. - According to the post, it is a “ Cruiser: pretty popular ship.  Not everyone ships it, but everyone knows about it.”. Which is then described with : “Has a good amount of fic/art, and probably multiple ask blogs.” (please note that there isn’t a single ask blog). It can even merge, here on the tumblr fanbase, with the step before, “ Dreadnought: massively popular.  Nearly everybody ships it.  You can, with dedication, in theory, reach the end of the AO3 archive for the ship’s tag, but it’ll take a long time. “
There are 29 fics Hero Corp on AO3 (and 21 for “Klaus/Doug”). 77,6 k words. (also not a single ask blog, and typing “hero corp fanvid” won’t get you any fanvid, but hey are we even at this point).
Le Cycle des Balls
A french web serie, in three seasons, that was never ment to be outside of internet (to my knowledge). A pretty big youtube channel, other channels after that prmoted it.
You see, there’s a canon gay couple at the end. It’s done beautifully, it’s pure, soft, adorable, wonderful. This Ship’s name is Tomitch. The fandom was created around this ship, so much that we talk about “tomitch meetup” rather thant “le cycle des balls meetup”. There are, comparaticely, a lot of people wo are in this fandom, either really invested of just passing by. This would be described by the post as a “ Supercarrier: fandom flagship.  Everybody and their dog ships it.  The fandom is glutted with artwork and fic.  You cannot escape this ship. “ it is the biggest step., So, one step more that the “ You can, with dedication, in theory, reach the end of the AO3 archive for the ship’s tag “.
There are 24 fics for this couple on AO3. 27 in the fandom main tag. 98,9 k words. One askblog but it’s inactive and i know cause it’s mine. Also i did 60% of the fanarts, which i was able to count by hand.
The Visitor From The Future.
Lastly, the one you’re most likely to have heard about. A web serie that ended on the television, on a national cable, sometime a big one and usually a smaller one. But on the internet, it’s everywhere. You’re a french geek, you’ve seen the VdF.
It has a ship. Henriisiteur. Not everyone ships it but everyone has heard of it, which is almost word for word what the post consider à “ Cruiser: pretty popular ship.  Not everyone ships it, but everyone knows about it.  Has a good amount of fic/art, and probably multiple ask blogs. “
There are 21 fics in the fandom. 6 for the ship. 46,5k words. No askblog, quite a few fanarts but not so much about the ship.
Why am I counting words?
Cause all of them range from “flag ship” to “most popular ship”, but there is this, on the post : ”Tugboat: rarepair.  Almost never seen except as a side pairing to a more popular ship.  You can usually get through everything on AO3 in a matter of days.  You’ve forgotten what it is to be picky about what you read. “ 223k. That’s the total wordcount of these THREE FANDOMS, not even the three ships.
And I’ve read longer in one day.
It’s not even a “matter of days”, it’a a matter of hours to get to the bottom of these three, extremely popular in their fandom, ships.
FOR EACH ONE OF THESE FANDOMS AND THESE SHIPS, I KNOW 80% OF THE FANDOM. I’m not afraid to dm someone to tell them i like their fic cause it’s one of the 3 fics posted the last 6 month. Almost all of the creators, i know them by name. If I want new content, usually, I have to do  it myself. And you know what’s the worst? That’s a “pretty big” fandom for me. Try to find afandom for the books of Arsène Lupin. We’re 8. and if I ever ship him with anybody? Well no need to do a post, i can litterally gop ask the people what they think of it. And If I do a post, it’s gonna be lost in the dozen of “Code realize” or “Lupin the Third” posts. I hate it. I just want a fandom.
So, no. “Gunboat: bit of a rarepair.  It might have an ask blog or two. A couple big name fans ship it.  Probably only takes a few weeks to get through the entire AO3 backlog, and one new fic gets added during that time. “. No. All of my main ship are freaking popular ships, and not for a single one, i could take weeks to go the the end of the tags, and not even in my dreams it could have one new fic. In what kind of fandom are you for “a bit of a rarepair” to get a new fic every other week? That’s insane ! In my fandom, rareships are mostly dreams !
Basically I made this post cause I was mad someone though their experience with fandom was universal and relatable. It’s not, gentelgent. It is absolutly not. And now I hate you.
