What do you think the Mikaelsons would be like if the Aurora fallout didn't happen?

I'm assuming you mean the Aurora fallout when she was human and not when she took the serum. I personally don't think it would be the fairytale a lot of Klaurora shippers want it to be. Don't get me wrong, I like Aurora's character and she did not deserve being compelled to be Rebekah for a hundred years and I also think she is one of Klaus' better ships. I also think we need more (and better than TVDU gives us) representation of mental illness in media. But I personally think people romanticize their relationship a lot. I do think Aurora is Klaus' first love and he loved her deeply, as she did him. But they were both in very bad mental places when they were together. This was only exacerbated by the vampirism. They likely would have led each other down a dark path rather than help each other out of it.

When Aurora is first turned, the vampirism makes her slightly out of control, which is not good considering the Mikaelsons had not mastered their control yet. This meant that shortly after she turns, Mikael tracks them down because of the carnage they were causing. If Elijah hadn't compelled Aurora, she would have run with them. She likely also would have wedged herself between Klaus and his siblings. This is especially true because Elijah would have likely still remembered that Klaus killed their mother and lied to them about it all of that time. The memory was behind the red door because of what Elijah did to Aurora, not because of what he discovered.

This would have created a huge rift between Finn and Klaus, likely causing Finn to do what he claimed to want to do and leave his siblings behind, potentially even seeking Mikael out to help avenge his mother. With Finn leaving, Kol would also part ways shortly after. We know this happens anyway as Kol is already on his own when the Mikaelsons encounter the Hunters.

Tristan would also have sent an army after the Mikaelsons to retrieve his sister, likely with the help of Lucien as I think he partly always believed Klaus manipulated Aurora. I personally was never a fan of how Lucien interacted with Aurora. He always acted like she was unable to think for herself so it would be easy for him to believe Klaus had manipulated Aurora and not that she rejected him. It also would give him an excuse to go after the Mikaelsons and make Klaus pay for "stealing" Aurora.

It would have been Mikael and whatever army he mustered up and Tristan/Lucien and their army chasing after the trio and Aurora. I think it would be a fascinating story and if anyone wants to write it, I would definitely read it. However, it wouldn't be positive for either Klaus or Aurora's mental health. We are told Aurora battles bipolar disorder. This mental illness, unfortunately, for the vast majority of the time cannot be handled effectively without medication. Bipolar disorder was not even diagnosed until the 1800s and it wasn't effectively treated until the mid-1900s. Because vampirism already exaggerates emotions, Aurora's battle with bipolar disorder was extreme. The symptoms of bipolar disorder are also exacerbated by stressful life events, like being on the run from your brother and your homicidal father-in-law.

Stans, and even Klaus himself, changed their tune after finding out about Klaus' first heartbreak and, instead of blaming his parents, shifted blame to Elijah for why Klaus behaves the way he does. But we have to realize that Klaus is Klaus. Vampirism and his werewolf side only heighten who he is. We see Klaus as a human get in angry, heated fights, he is still fairly self-centered (kissing Tatia without even considering her feelings), he kills his mother for lying to him before his heartbreak, he goes on a killing spree before this heartbreak. He wasn't some innocent, good-tempered person before all of the heartbreak and betrayal. He was also in a fragile mental state and it would have been easy for Aurora to convince him to leave Rebekah and Elijah behind. Klaus was clearly suffering some level of depression and likely PTSD from his childhood trauma. Aurora already thought Elijah was too obsessed with family and didn't have a positive association with family in general. To me, she would have wanted her and Klaus to be a family on their own. She even seemed to cast Rebekah aside as her friend when Klaus showed her romantic interest. She was so quick to tell Elijah she knew something about Klaus that even he didn't know. Whether intentionally or not, she would have caused a separation between the siblings. I personally think this would have been for the best for Elijah and Rebekah. They could have gone off and lived a happy life, finding love.

But Klaus and Aurora likely would have gone down a dark path. We already see them begin to right after she is turned. She, like Klaus, reveled in the gore of vampirism early on. Without Elijah or Rebekah there to even him out, Klaus may have gone off the deep end, making it easy for Mikael to find him. If Mikael had an army, it likely would not have ended well for Aurora and Klaus.

I've seen two people who were struggling with their mental illness try to make it work in real life and it unfortunately usually does not work. When you are struggling, you need someone who can support you, but if your partner is also struggling, that is too much pressure. They created a beautiful relationship in the comfort and safety of the castle but they would have struggled to support each other once life got hard on their own.

It is really sad because so many people in history suffered unnecessarily because of mental illnesses before treatments or understanding was available. Aurora's conversation with Cami gives us just a small insight on what people in her position were often forced to undergo in an attempt to "fix" them. If Aurora and Klaus had met in modern setting where treatment was available for both of them, I think they would have a beautiful relationship. It just was unfortunately the right person, wrong time.

Thanks for the ask! This was really interesting to think about. Sorry, it took so long to respond, but I wanted to make sure I really thought this one through. I try to be delicate any time I discuss mental illness.

So this won't have the creator au thing this time unfortunately but it is more like I want to go back to the original concept of what sagau a.k.a self-aware as I am referring to the self-aware au were no god reader but just a regular reader who plays the game and is not aware the charas are self-aware and they are all fond with her whether it is platonic, romantic, possessive or obsessed with her.

As I mentioned reader has the abilities of Atsushi from Bungou stray dogs and has the same past as him however it's a bit different for the reader as her past is something I came up a bit sad about but not something excruciating to add since we all know how Atsushi's past is like especially you can see the worst of it in the manga 😭

Beast Beneath the Moonlight will not be an ability since the reader is not from the BSD world but this ability is something like a curse that the reader has to go through in tough times and has resented having it because if she wasn't born with it then she would have never been given up by her parents to the orphanage or thrown to such pain of being thrown back to the orphanages after all her previous foster parents deemed her a "Freak" or "Monster" and so on but they very physically hurt her since the reader was a very like a normal kid a first glance only these parents got the taste of fear seeing her curse.

Luckily around the age of 12, she finally got herself adopted by a person who is a writer and was one of the people who was like her, having a strange curse or rather an ability. It took time for the reader to get used to her new father and slowly trust him as he did not even react badly to seeing her transformation except he decided to help with her powers. Now grown up and able to live a normal life and keep a secret of her powers, the reader found herself loving a certain fantasy game called Genshin Impact that was recommended by her friends.

The game was very amazing and Reader loved it so much and also ignored the huge negative side of the game and tried to enjoy the lore and exploration.

Only she found herself Isekai out of nowhere.

There are endless possibilities about how Reader will appear in Genshin and I had to revise this many times LMAO

So like I decided she has been in the wilderness for like a week and there have been rumors spreading to all Teyvat of a strange dangerous Beast that usually prowls or appears at night time either running around or scaring away Treasure hoarders and sometimes the Fatui. And I guess it is up to you guys who would find her first OwO!

I feel like everyone would be fascinated with Reader’s transformation and I am sure there have been times reader suddenly gets cats attracted to them causing poor Venti to sneeze so much due to how many cats are near reader XD

Reader be getting along with Diona or any cat-like hybrid. As someone commented, the reader is like them, in which the reader fires back at them saying "I'M A TIGER NOT A CAT!"

But honestly people would find the reader 's abilities very fascinating.

And then they realize the reader could heal her wounds after some panic, getting stabbed or injured and trying to take her to a healer but instead her wounds healed rapidly.

I also imagine readers have similarities with Atsushi but personality wise it's up to you guys how you imagine a reader's personality is like with having the same Abilities like Atsushi.

But yeah what do you guys think? XD

This will have part 2 soon but a different version.

Part 2 will mainly be a cult au where the reader does not control the charas in the modern world but the reader is born in Genshin and is still a god but I guess it's still a sagau but a bit different since cult au and sagau are similar yet different I guess 🤔

The reason why I sound a bit excited in Part 2 of this brain rot? Because reader will be in the Fatui 

But she will be someone who is usually in the shadows doing most dirty work and is always near Tsaritsa like a Shadow UwU

AI is almost cool, but you're right. Right now the only way to actually make it worth your time is to have a small warehouse of machines working together to do anything and that is just way too privately owned and way too beneficial to an individual who obviously wants to use it for money.

If a library or museum had it and was running it on their collection that'd be an entirely different story. They'd probably be able to source their creations correctly too since they have that metadata in abundance. I wonder how Star Trek's holodecks handle that, since holodeck programming is pretty much the same thing as AI Prompt Based Generation.

Besides what I've already said about AI in regards to artistic integrity and how I do not trust techbros to harness any of this tech in any way that could prove altruistic and not aimed exclusively at making money and maybe even NFTs 2 - The Sequel, I do think it's important to point out that the technology behind it is amazing and the applications and implications of advancing AI technology are sincerely intriguing.

For example, with AI art, an animation team could easily and quickly produce in-between frames in key animation, that is, the transition frames and smear frames between more important shots. This would, if implemented properly, alleviate a significant load off the shoulders of animators, and we know animators can use all the help they can get nowadays, in an industry that becomes more and more demanding to its workforce and that is yet so immensely disrespected and underpaid.

An illustrator could also get a lot of reference for their own art. Anatomy, backgrounds, certain poses, objects at different angles, the applications really are there! A writer of a more visual disposition could easily generate a number of assets for internal, personal use only, to help visualize locales, characters, objects, and what have you. With a more specialized model, I believe even sculptors and other more hands-on and physical artforms could definitely benefit as well, especially when you consider the leaps and bounds in 3D printing.

My scathing criticism of AI 'artists' is one thing, because I do not for one second think of anyone as an artist by just putting in a prompt into an AI that then generates an image for them, and that will not change, you didn't create art, you simply used a tool, so don't call yourself an artist for that one, to whoever it may concern, but AI technology in itself is fascinating, and what frustrates me is not the fact that there's an AI that can make visuals easily -- that's honestly fascinating -- rather, it's the fact I do not at any point trust the tech industry to ever respect art in any capacity because they have a track record of not doing so, and the interest in creating an 'art AI' is wholly based on a thinly veiled desire to mass produce for the sake of raking in profits while -- and I insist, bear this in mind -- disguising it as an "accessible tool" that can make anyone an 'artist'.

We have to make sure we don't go durr hurr technology bad, Tesla was a witch, because it's easy to do so and I've seen some bad takes on that regard already, it's ultimately techbros and the tech industry that live on this hardlane bubble of "profit no matter what we destroy or defame". Most everything nowadays starts by techbros selling the ideal of "look how helpful this could be!" and getting a lot of attention on their product, and when it's ready for a stable release, they paygate it behind the kind of money only big private industries can afford, and fuck everyone else.

And hey, that's been a lot of the world of business for a long time, in many, many other regards, but if people expect artists not to make a fuss when techbros look at art and try that shit there, I have no idea what they expect. Which is wholly disrespectful, anyhow, because everyone loves art but hates artists for some reason. Not to sound like a cafe blog for a second, but I do need to point out that during the harshest parts of the pandemic, art is what people turned to in order to assuage themselves. I hope that knowledge stings whoever it may concern.

So, when did you start writing?

Okay, it's a bit embarrassing 💀 so I started to write since I was like 12, just silly, stupid stories about One Direction because I loved them so much (specially Harry). I've also written for the Harry Potter Universe and 5SOS... but it wasn't until I watched HOTD that I started to write in English and actually finish a story.

Where did the plot for the summer islands come from?

The plot came from a request; if I remember correctly an anon sent me an ask requesting a fluff story with Aegon escaping with the reader and having a picnic with Sunfyre by their side.

I took the idea and molded it to what you read there, and also because I wanted to play with the black cat/golden retriever trope that I love so much.

Can you expand on your interpretation of Aegon? What drives him? Why is he the way he is in TSI?

Well, the same things that happened on the show, I guess. Aegon is someone who grew up in an abusive/manipulative environment, and I think that his position as a Targaryen prince has made him an easy target to people that view him just as someone that has money and a high rank in society.

Which is why I tried to make him reluctant to trust in the reader at first, since is the first time he meets someone who's not interested in what he can give, so it's weird for him. He didn't trust in her at first because he's used to people just wanting to use him.

Was there anything in specific that inspired your Reader portrayal?

I don't think so... though I knew from the start that I wanted to make her like this bubbly, oblivious character because it's the opposite of Aegon's personality. I thought it was the appropriate way to do it since she was in isolation most of her life, so she was untainted by the world. She's the ray of sunshine Aegon needed in his life.

Why do you think your Reader compliments Aegon so well?

I had in mind that Aegon escaped his life in King's Landing because the pressure of wearing the crown was too much for him to handle. He wanted to go to the free lands and live as he pleased but we know that doesn't happen.

He meets the Reader and, in my opinion, is like fresh air for him; she's someone that doesn't know who he is, and it's the first person who shows that she genuinely cares about him and actually listens to him; she cuts his hair, lends him her bed so he can be comfortable, and he feels seen for the first time. She gives him this sense of freedom that he craved so bad... and I think that's why he falls in love with her. He just needed love.

What inspired Sunfyre's chaterization is in TSI?

I just got inspired by cats. I love them so much and they're so stubborn... Sunfyre gives me orange cat vibes, which can be chaotic but at the same time they're such sweet things. Also cats perceive people's energy, and that's why Sunfyre didn't mind the reader touching him or getting too close to him.

Will there be an epilogue?

I don't think I will write more about them, because I'm actually happy with the closure that I gave them... in my head they will live in that small cottage for eternity, and maybe create a family, but that's it.

Thinking back to what Kripke said in an interview about Soldier Boy's trauma being a metaphor for "toxic masculinity", don't think that he's kinda sending the wrong message with Soldier Boy and Butcher that being traumatized/victims of abuse and engaging in unhealthy coping mechanisms equals "toxic men"? Especially since men don't have monopoly on being abuse and trauma victims? Big fucking Oof there, Kripke.

I'm not sure if the story blames Butcher for being traumatised. Writers clearly are making a point about the cycle of abuse and the consequences of childhood trauma, both for him and Homelander, and usually portray his struggles sympathetically. However, some moments give me a pause, like Mallory saying Billy is just like his father because he wants to finish his vendetta against Homelander (can we talk about Mallory probably being the biggest hypocrite of the show, btw), or the narrative seemingly supporting the idea that Billy was partially responsible for Lenny's death.

Soldier Boy's situation is weirder. If I understand correctly, you mean this quote:

“Similarly to Hughie, it’s, what is the metaphor for Soldier Boy? And he’s like this bottled up toxic masculinity,” Kripke says. “He bottles up all of his pain and he bottles up all of his trauma and then, quote unquote, loses his temper and explodes outward, literally. It’s the pattern of so many macho dudes, they can’t express themselves and so then they explode and in really inappropriate ways. So he literally explodes.” (x)

The interview was referencing the events of 3x05 Holy shit, I was absolutely sure it was about Soldier Boy blowing up the building during his PTSD flashback. But they, in fact, talked about 3x04, aka Soldier Boy blasting Kimiko at the lab. This makes even less sense. He just woke up from stasis after years of torture, surrounded by armed people, with a bunch of dead soldiers on the floor. He doesn't know if they are friendlies (they aren't); he doesn't even target Kimiko specifically — he just tries to escape. Oh my god.

But even if we apply this quote to 3x05 or even the entire season, it still doesn't work. It's the season finale tomorrow, and yet we only saw Soldier Boy "exploding" in two types of situations: he has a flashback during which he blackouts and cannot control himself, or he deliberately uses this new power against his target. Neither fits the idea of a "toxic macho man losing his temper". Unless, of course, Kripke thinks having untreated PTSD is a sign of toxic masculinity.

This brings us to the second option: unhealthy coping mechanisms = toxic masculinity. I think you're spot on about this being the show's idea, tbh. I mean, writers certainly try to make a point by showing us MM, who is Soldier Boy's foil this season and arguably one of the most well-adjusted people on the show (which doesn't say a lot, but still). MM is open about his emotions, takes medication and tries not to let his trauma affect Janine. Here's an example of how to handle your trauma properly, right? Of course! But also, eh.

Sure, Soldier Boy is a vile, abusive man that pretends he doesn't have feelings, and his response to the idea of PTSD is "fuck you". He certainly holds back a lot of his emotions that aren't anger. And his (and Butcher's) idea of self-medicating is clearly unhealthy. But here's a thing: according to the show's timeline, he's been free less than a month, I'd say about two weeks. He barely had any time to deal with everything that happened. He doesn't have friends, his only allies are two shady guys who want to use him as a weapon, and one of them has already tried to back out of the agreement. Who exactly has Soldier Boy to trust with his emotions and ask for support, even if he were self-aware enough to do that? (though he did open up to Hughie for a moment in E6.) And it's not like Billy and Hughie can take him to the therapist for help. And of course, we still circle back to the showrunner comparing PTSD episodes to losing your temper.

And Billy doesn't really fit into this idea either because he supposedly spent a year of hiatus trying to get better and be a father for Ryan — only to be told in the end that he still failed. For me, his arc this season is about desperation, not toxicity.

Oof indeed.

Omg hey new moon anon! It's always so nice to hear from you. 🫶 I'm doing alright for the most part, dealing with migraines so that's fun but I'm handling it. I hope you're doing good too. And yeah, I was busy and a little burnt out from answering all of those asks for like a week straight so I closed my ask box to regroup, but I'm more energetic now so that's good!

#3. how do you feel about your current WIP?

Oh my current WIP is a pain in the ass LMAOO. I've been working on it for like a month on and off and I'm about to revisit it today and re-edit it completely. Sometimes I think I overstress myself about writing certain things because I'm a perfectionist and want to put out stuff that I am happy with, but I'm really hoping I get this done. It's the first chapter of my series, which is hilarious cause I've been drafting this idea out for like 6 months and I still haven't uploaded it. I will though, eventually, I'm just scared about putting it out into the world since it's something I've planned so thoroughly.

#30. share a fic you're especially proud of

I believe I've answered this already but definitely One Of Those Days simply because of how cohesive it is and how easy it was to write. It's one of my favorite things that I've written, and because lord knows I want a dilf to take care of me after a stressful day so it's personal.

Now college boys? Babe, as someone older I'm going to tell you, stay away from them boys at school. Obviously, have fun and be safe duh, but don't let these LEWSERS derail you from your education. I'm sorry that happened though seriously, being lovebombed is the absolute worst thing ever, but he sounds crazy for that like. Don't think that what happened determines your worth romantically, believe me, you will be okay. <3

As for me? I haven't had a man within 6 feet of me in 2 years by choice HAHA. They just get dumber and dumber and frankly I don't want to be stressed so I choose to keep my peace, I can't deal with another dating horror story and trust me I've had plenty. Celibacy does get annoying though, I feel like as you get older, your hormones get out of wack and every ovulation cycle gets more intense. I'm literally at my limit but I'm trying to stay strong and not let the voices get to me. May break my celibacy this summer, I'm feeling reckless, but nobody is a #realfucker like me so I'd rather save myself the dissapointment. Sadly, real men are nothing like the fictional ones we all thirst over, so we must all suffer booo.

And as for my fic ideas, I have a lot written down and I'm actually deviating from Leon Kennedy because I'm fixating over Chris Redfield so I'll tell you some of the things I want to write for him in particular!

Essentially, I have a DDLG fic idea I want to crank out with Chris and it kind of extended to me wanting to create a mini universe of Chris and his sub partner just navigating life and learning more about kinks and how to grow in a dom/sub dynamic. I originally wanted to do that with Leon, but the ideas I had just didn't fit his characterization naturally in my head, it felt forced. And now that I've been doing a fuck ton of character analysis and plotting with Chris, my brain changed and everything that didn't fit Leon fits Chris in my head (because they're foils of each other). So yeah, I'm definitely planning on doing that, probably several different one shots about Chris and his gf in a dom/sub partnership and how they explore it together, and they can all be read as stand-alones or in the same "universe" type of deal.

I'm still hesitant cause of how people think about DDLG as a whole and how they view Chris, but I'm just learning to not give a fuck anymore and post it anyway. :)

If this was real instead of fiction, Eddie is going to be miserable and Chris is going to feel so guilty for what he has done. He's old enough to understand what he said was detrimental to Eddie. Does he even really want Eddie to quit after calling him his hero several times over the seasons? Is Eddie hiding behind Chris because he knows he's slowly falling apart?

If they don't show the both of them getting therapy, both together and separately, and actually /talking/ things through instead of bottling them up until they explode...

Eddie said he wanted Chris to learn to show his emotions, but kids learn the most from their parents. Eddie is failing Chris here. He needs to break the chains caused by his own upbringing. Until there is open communication, everyone is going to /hurt/ - Eddie, Chris, the 118 crew, and Buck. Good grief, Buck already has abandonment issues.

The only way they might get this right is if the writers talk to /real/ therapists about how they would handle this situation. Not pull how they think it should go out of their rears.

I do see the missing Albert coming in to fill Eddie's position, maybe? We've been wondering where he is.

For now, I can't bring myself to continue watching unless I hear otherwise, despite OS's interviews.

After that rant, all I can think to write to maybe make this a slightly happier ask is Happy Holidays!

IDK if it helps, or if you're looking for some positives, you def have my sympathy, 'coz I feel you, I get where you're coming from, but I am gonna try to offer some words of encouragement. First of all, I do think Eddie's move away from the 118 is temporary (if it ends up happening at all), and I think I went into the most details about why in my 510 meta and in this ask where I also referred to Albert's return which is unlikely from what I could gather...

I also agree they really need communication and help. I think this season has been building up to it, everything is fitting in correctly, so I trust that just like the show managed to give us this convincing build up on what the Diaz boys need next, it will also deliver on that.

As for Chris, no doubt he IS proud of Eddie, of his firefighter job and being a certified (literally!) hero. We don't yet know how Chris feels about his dad leaving the 118 and there are a lot of ways to tackle this, 'coz he's also a traumatized kid who already lost one parent unexpectedly to a violent death. It'll be interesting to see how 911 will explore this ambivalence in his experiences. I do trust they will do so respectfully and will rely on adults (including professionals) showing Chris what are healthy ways to cope with anxiety.

Hi! I'm a gay fan of 911 and I have a question about the whole Buddie fandom. As much as I like Buck and Eddie, it's frustrating that a HUGE part of the fandom is pushing for these two characters to get together instead of putting energy into supporting Hen & Carla and Michael & Dave. Not to mention Carlos and TK in Lone Star. Can you explain to me the appeal of wanting these two men together? Wouldn't it be more interesting to see two heterosexual males just be able to bond in a non-toxic fashion? That's something we don't get to see often on television.

Hey! This is MAD long lmao I am so sorry! You caught me on a day I felt like talking! Also this took like a year to answer you lolololol. This does have a few ʻhot takesʻ so please be warned! So like in this essay....

So first I am also apart of the LGBTQIA+ community, so I do understand how it could come across as a fetish or being non supportive of the current canonically LGBTQIA+ characters, however I think a lot of the interest around Buddie and the want for them to be confirmed as a couple is how they are being written. Me personally I knew since s2 e1 Buck and Eddie were written not as rivals but as two people who would eventually become friends, but it wasn’t until the Christmas episode with the elf assuming Buck was Chris’s dad and Eddie’s partner that I was like ‘hold on!’ because I was really hoping Abbey would return and I didn’t see Eddie as a possible Buck live interest because of that. The elf’s comment wasn’t played off like most other shows would (think Dean and Sam arriving anywhere in Supernatural) it made me go back and look at the other episodes to see exactly how Buck and Eddie were being framed/written. And as we have moved into further seasons I think there has been a shift in how Buddie is being written, in s3 it was very much like two people progressing into a deeper friendship then the blood clot/lawsuit gets in the way and they both have to deal with emotions surrounding that, then Buck’s response to Eddie being trapped (we see how is he when Boddy is trapped in a fire WITH A GUNMAN, it’s emotional but not to the point is is with Eddie), even the love interests feel very pushed on us and there’s so little banter between Buddie about their gfs and how they feel about these new beginnings. It feels off, not like a friendship in the slightest, more like two people trying to force something and not wanting to deal with any other feelings. Then when Eddie gets shot and reveals Buck is Chris’s legal Guardian in the event Eddie dies, that’s huge, and he did this after only a year of knowing Buck (I have friends with kids. I’ve known one of them for FIVE years, I’m at their house every week, the kid calls me family. I’m person #10 on the list of ‘who gets my kid if I die’, not #1 lol) It just feels like it’s all building up to something, and people are getting tired of waiting for that something! We’re all emotionally tired from the past two years, and probably from many shows queerbaiting us and this is something that could happen, seems to be something the actors are ok with and the fans want. So why do they keep drawing it out. This isn’t about us demanding they ignore the chance to write a healthy platonic male friendship, or forcing two characters to be gay, it’s about holding the writers to what they’ve implied and seeing what could come of it.

Also think of it like this; If Buddie is confirmed it will still be a good example of a healthy friendship which then developed into something else, like Booth/Bones! Showing the natural progression of friendship to relationship that happens a lot in real life. It’s two men who previously (on screen at least) have only been with woman, but now they have an emotionally connection with someone which they then develop and explore. This could be 911’s first nontoxic depiction of two gay characters coming together, because sorry not sorry the canon couples aren’t perfect (which does humanize them) but they also reenforce harmful troupes that plaque the LGBTQIA+ community, which I’m sure you understand: TK was a drug addict, who only got with Carlos at first cause he was hot and sex was TK’s new addition (all gay men are sex addicts who do drugs and sleep with anything that moves). Carlos was ashamed and wanted to keep TK on the downlow (poc gay men want to pretend to be straight but have free access to gay sex). Hen cheated on Karen seemingly the first chance she got (lesbians can’t handle monogamy when pushed, and cheat on their long term partners). All known and documented troupes that happen far too often.

I’m not saying Buddie is some gay jesus ship that’s gonna save the entertainment industry but if done right it could prove to be one of the few healthy depictions of two men getting into a gay relationship we have. If they plan it out correctly, show us the relationship development, like they did with Maddie/Chim for example, Buddie could be used as a positive example of a gay fictional relationship (I really could go into depth about this. I probably should tbh).

As for not supporting Hen and KAREN, or Michael and DAVID, I think fans do support them! The writers don’t. If you read fanfics Henren and Michael/David are featured heavily in many fics, and ik some people might say ‘well they’re only there so Buddie can talk about their gay side!!’ but both these couples have their own fans and fanfic tags! They aren’t just plot devices in Buddie stories. There is a huge side of the fandom that supports Henren and wants to see more of them and their family. Same with Michael and David, during the episode where Michael and Bobby team up to find that plastic surgeon who was working illegally many people where ecstatic that we were getting more Michael/David content and that David was getting more than a couple lines. But sadly it seems like the writers only want to delve into these story lines when they need filler, they even miss opportunities to include these other LGBTQIA+ characters when it makes sense;

When Chris is sad and wants more human connection, instead of bring Harry + Michael/David and Denny+Nia+Henren back into the picture (and yes I understood at the time the pandemic was bad (lmao still is!!), but all the actors at some point would have/had crossed over into each other’s ‘bubbles’, so ALL the actors would have been exposed to each other so getting the children together with adults they had ALREADY been with during shooting wouldn’t have been a super spreader event) but instead they brought in Ana after only two on screen dates and pretended like it was a logical thing for someone who’s up to that point been extremely careful with their child.

They really could have pushed the ‘118 is a family!’ message here and included the canonically gay supporting characters, and the lesbian main character(s) but they did not and instead chose to push the Ana/Eddie coupling even though they hadn’t properly developed it yet. The writers themselves don’t seem to care about developing their canonically gay characters and including them more than they have to but fans are continuously developing Henren and Michael/David with hc and fics.

I’d like to use your logic against you for a second, in s1 we have a very healthy, platonic friendship between Chim/Bobby but that got written out to the point they are more like boss/employee unless the scene calls for them to seem closer, we now have Bobby and Michael friendship but again we hardly see Michael. On Lone Star we have Owen and Judd as a really, really good example of a healthy male friendship but we see Judd more often with Tommy now then we do with Owen, and in s2 it’s overshadowed by Owen trusting Charlie from Twilight and constantly getting fucked over! Why can’t the writter just be happy with these happy, healthy, emotionally well male-male friendship they’ve already included and expand upon them. There’s enough drama because the show literally involves burning buildings and people’s lives being at risk from some natural/man made disaster ever 12 seconds. Does it need to have so much interpersonal conflict and male peacocking??

I ship Klaus and Elena like crazy. Since I like your tvd opinions, can I ask , do you think they had potential?

OHHHHHH HELLO KLAULENA MY OLD RAREPAIR-

Klaus/Elena is one of those ships of mine that, while I never expected (or even really wanted) the show to go there in canon (and, after a certain point, I wouldn't have trusted the writers with it any further than I could throw CW HQ), there's a delicious amount of possibility to explore.

It helps that I'm a villainfucker at heart (I was, and remain, very fond of Klaroline, especially when TVD was at its height), and I love a good redemption every bit as much as I love a good corruption arc--and I think Klaus/Elena could easily deliver on either front in the hands of competent writers. While I never really ventured into the wilds of the TVD fanfic sphere, I did have the pleasure of getting to write Elena for a time on a TVD-verse RP that diverged from canon at some point in mid-season 3, and the person who played Klaus on that site turned me onto the idea of Klaulena (I was very easily plied with my favorite tropes and also a lot of delicious shipping vids, there were some fantastic vidders in the tvd fandom back in the day), and we got decently far into the plot (Klaus slowly softening, Elena gaining sharper edges and more ruthlessness, so it had hints of "You might make me a better man" "And you might make me a monster" [but this was before Darklina existed, it's just a very apt quote for that particular RP plot]) before the site fizzled out.

(I've also written Elena on a panfandom site where she wound up dating Kai Parker and falling in love with him, so I may just have a thing with Elena and exploring ships with various villains, though my main ship for her is still with Damon.)

Klaulena definitely has potential, imo. Like I mentioned about the RP I did, there's something delicious in the potential of one half of the ship making the other half better, while they are in turn corrupted, and there's so many ways this could potentially play out--on that site, Elena went behind everyone's backs to make her own deal with Klaus where she agreed to act as his willing blood donor in exchange for him not trying to kill everyone she cared about to get at her, and if I recall correctly the site began after... I wanna say 3x11, so they handled Klaus' mother and everything else very differently, and I don't remember a whole lot of details but Elena spending a full day once a week with the monster who killed her aunt in front of her meant that she was forced to get to know him, and she also drank his blood so that she didn't get hurt from the frequent bloodloss, which meant closeness and physical intimacy and feelings that began to spark under her skin that she didn't want to examine because he was a monster and she couldn't feel this way and anyway she was lying to everyone she loved because she knew they'd do something stupid and get killed if they found out, and I think everything came to a head and blew up at one point and Elena died with Klaus' blood in her system, and I think we did a version of the sirebond plot that was... not at all what the show had done but it worked for the plot we'd been crafting, and...

Sorry that was a long ramble lol, I haven't thought of that sitte in a long time but every time I remember it, I start thinking about jotting down all the plot points I can remember and crafting a fic from it. But anyway, tl;dr: I absolutely do believe Klaulena has potential, and I can absolutely understand why you would ship it!

Is it weird to say I think the way they handled (or rather didn't) Blacksun in RWBY is kind of partly responsible for the majority of the fandom's expectations for Nuts and Dolts and Rosegarden? Like the way Rosegarden is dismissed a lot of the time by the fandom (not just as a possibility as an endgame ship but the concept of the ship in of itself) almost like it's too obvious that they can't believe it, that it must be a red herring somehow, while being absolute dead certain that Nuts and Dolts is endgame? Even though Penny seems very much dead? And unlike Bumbleby, Blacksun and Rosegarden never seemed to be romantically coded? (I mean it's cute but at best there were only a few parallels to other canon ships which... You could say the same about Fair Game, which the writers never intended to be romantic)

So... I'm a little confused about this ask, sorry! I'm not quite sure what the argument is. Are you arguing that RG has more textual basis than NnD? Or that no Ruby ships have textual basis? I thought the former until your second to last sentence, but when you say "Blacksun and Rosegarden never seem to be romantically coded" did you mean to say "Blacksun and Nuts and Dolts"? I'll answer anyways, but please do clarify!!

See, I would say that Rosegarden is factually coded romantically at least on Oscar's part. He is clearly crushing on Ruby and there's no other realistic way to interpret that blush, the looks of the other characters around them (Marrow), and his clear comments on her eyes.

I also do think Blacksun had romantic coding to an extent, although I think the buildup was clearly for Bumbleby as the main ship--until volume 4, which is where they kinda goofed with the teasing and which is why I think they messed up. If you don't handle something correctly and bait your audience (which imo mostly happens in volume 4), then your audience loses trust, so to an extent that can play a role in people struggling to discern where things are going. It's honestly my main complaint about RWBY's writing.

I do not think Nuts n Dolts even has the teasing Black Sun does. Even more so than Fair Game (which I agree was never intended to be romantic), NnD has explicit, blatant platonic coding which the writers either have no clue what they're doing or included deliberately. (This post was written before the final two episodes, by the way, which only went harder on this.)

That also said, I think the fandom is prone to expecting She-Ra when RWBY isn't She-Ra. I hella love She-Ra and think it's stunningly written and fantastic, but RWBY isn't the same story. She-Ra was at its core about queer love redeeming the world, and RWBY is not really about that specifically--love redeeming the world surely has a role, but it is about refinement on multiple levels, with alchemy as the central conceit of the story. She-Ra was not about grief either, but about life; RWBY is about life and death together and has always braided tragedy into the story.

Nuts n Dolts is a lovely comfort ship, but comfort isn't the point of RWBY--it's fighting. Even people who theorize Penny is coming back are almost always "because she'll end up with Ruby" but cite no evidence nor what it thematically offers Ruby as a character or Penny as a character to end up together. There are not central thematic challenges they would have to overcome to be together, which again makes it comforting but not what RWBY does. Compare it to Bumbleby or Renora, where getting together offers clear challenges and ways the characters have to grow because what they fear is what the other struggles with as a flaw; same with Arkos, though Pyrrha is dead.

Among RWBY ships, in my opinion Rosegarden more closely parallels Bumbleby and Renora in set up, as do Emercury and White Knight (whether or not they happen; among these 3 RG is the one with the most explicit buildup so that has to be dealt with somehow). These ships also have the alchemical symbolism that matches up in ways Nuts/Dolts definitely does not. (I list myself as a shipper of these five ships but the reality is that I do not really care about ships in RWBY lol. I mostly see the potential for really well written stories in these so I list them, but I don't really have a lot of feelings for them.)

But, that doesn't mean Ruby and Penny's relationship isn't interesting and beautiful, because it is. I personally think Ruby is going to take Penny's death very hard and struggle with grief--it might even bring up thoughts of Summer. A relationship doesn't have to be romantic or sexual to be important or pivotal, and people can--even should--have multiple deep, important relationships in their life.

Anyways, this is just my opinion, and I'm not really looking to debate or have a serious argument about things, or to upset anyone!

Brothers anon back again. I had a sort of writers block for the last like 2 days which made it really hard to do some questions, but I got em done finally. Sorry about the wait. This one is split between the numbered questions, and next ask is the other questions you asked!

I think I accidentally skipped a question in the last one. I honestly don't completely remember but in case I did skip it by mistake, the groups first travel out of the city's limits and even further beyond in a carriage. When they reach the end of how far the driver is willing to go they then get out and start walking. With Jackie screaming about how their finally going on a adventure. 

1: It thankfully doesn't get to to bad before the others notice. And he immediately told them about Dream, wanting to be very clear with what happened and what they where getting themselves into. But they accepted him anyway and helped him. 

2: Isaac is the leader cause Cletus is too much of a wildcard and too impulsive to lead safely, Charles is too shy to lead, and while Benjamin is perfect for leading he doesnt really like leading and is more of a follower than a leader. But Isaac can joke around and gets along with everyone but also be able to take things seriously and know when something needs to be handled.

5: They do not, they last for a few minutes and unless its a healing or regeneration potion (in which it can take a few days for it to fully go away) they have no long lasting affects. They do know of eachothers past to an extent, they know enough to avoid triggers and enough to know what not to do when around eachother. They know through telling eachother, and they feel awful Grievous and Jackie had to deal with that, but leave it in the past and focus on making their current life better. 

6: Yes and no, while Jackie did mean to throw it at Ran, he ment for it to just hit nearby him, not directly hit him. It was ment to be more of a scare/intimidation tactic than anything else honestly. Grievous's luck is for basically everything, he has won the lottery twice before actually but only those 2 times, he's correctly guessed how many items are in a container more than a few times as well. 

7: I use the height charts and they help mostly for comparison, problem is I have trouble applying it to real world stuff and because of that I still have trouble knowing if something or someone is to tall or short. Jackie can get very mean, like he can make fun of someone who just lost a loved one or experienced a traumatic event at the worst. But he usually doesn't get nearly that mean, most he does normally is making fun of how someone looks or how they do certain things. The others comfort him the best they can when he gets sad, and when he gets mean they either encourage it (Grievous), or discourage it and stop him (Watson. Ran is between either encouraging or discouraging it).

8: He was! He spent most of his life adventuring actually! He misses it somedays now since he lives in Subbin, but he believes giving up his adventuring life for a family and friends who needed him is a more than far trade and would happily pick his family over adventuring again. For around 4 years after Ran left Mizu (including the day he left), Ran traveled everywhere, and learned how to survive himself and taught himself different things, like sewing. Ran has made new socks, fixed clothes, and made blankets for everyone at least once. Watson also designs bows and arrows for show, for top functionality, and for just simple (training) gifts to the others. Ran (and Watson) has visited the nether, though Ran tended to stay in it longer than Watson cause he could withstand the temperatures better. And while digging a new tunnel across the nether he ran into ancient debris, which he then messed with until he figured out to mix it with gold and coat his sword in it. He tried to find more ancient debris but sadly hasn't found any, leaving his sword permanently damaged and at risk of breaking. Jackie isn't good at all at painting, its more of a hobby he's trying out. They try to camp out there at least once a week, where Grievous will sometimes build a pillowfort and either force everyone inside or play a game of capture the fort with them. Sometimes Ran will also read during the pillowfort nights, but not to often. Jackie wants to vist a Snow, Savanna, Jungle,  Tagia, and if possible, a Ice Spike biome. He also wants to vist the nether but he'll have to fight Ran on that. Ran and Jackie's secondary titles are in Javanese!

9: Ran just kinda went "Hey Jackie, stand still for a second." "Ok?" And then he just picked him up and threw up. 

10: When he's first given dinner after already eaten lunch, he just kinda stares at the food. Then asks if they meant to give him food, and when the others say yes, he asks why because he thought people only ate once every few days. His answer shocked the others and they ask him to explain, and he explains futher that he was only allowed to eat and drink once every 3 days. Their horrified by this answer but explain to him how theres 3 meals a day and he can drink whenever, he doesn't believe them at first but eventually accepts it. 

11: When the fishermen first come to Ranbob about their worry, he expresses the same worry as them. But says that it's unlikely Ran will hurt the fishermen specifically, because Rans haunting are already friends with them, and Ran wouldnt risk breaking the friendship unless he deemed it necessary for their safety. 

12: Ranbob is sad that Ran goes to such lengths to avoid him and keep people away from him, but he has resigned himself to it. As he knew that if Ran was alive it was greatly unlikely that he would trust him and knew he would be avoided. Which is actually particularly why he believes Ran will never trust him again and why he views Ran as a kind of lost family member. One he'll never get back no matter what he does.

13: Their first stop is a nearby flower biome, and after that Watson has planned to lead them to a waterfall he found with a shattered Savanna somewhat close to it. They plan to travel for a minimum of 6 months, they can actually travel for as long as they want to, but Prokius made them agree that they must be back before the next General Pit Battles (which happens once every 5 years). 

14: He would 100% run himself into the ground until he's barely alive while searching for them. Benjamin compares Ranbob wanting to go back to Dream, to an abused person wanting to go back to their abusive lover. They believe they've changed and that they truly do love them and want the best for them, but in reality that's not it at all and others have to help them see thats not true and help them save themselves. So it doesn't surprise Benjamin or Isaac that much (it surprises Charles and Cletus though), and after its explained to them, their all more than willing to help Ranbob get over Dream and help him be himself again.

15: Oh definitely. Once they hear the Green-Eyed Enderman is back from hiding they all set out again, and after the group gets attacked and once word spreads that its in a group and there's another enderman with them, they all get targeted. With the Gladiators and Fishermen being targeted as bait or hostages to try to trick the enderman into following a trap. Ran wasnt affected like his brother was. Im talking about trauma and maybe even a bit of PTSD that came from Mizu, caused by Dream. Though both of the brothers have gained different amounts of trauma and PTSD from Dream. I may give the raven to either Watson or Ran, I think its fits both of them really well. I want to have them come across ruins of other Tales but im not sure which ones. Maybe they could find the remains of the Wild West Tale and the Haunted Mansion?

1: The perfect start to an Adventure. And a funny mental image. Imagining these two groups cramped into carriages is pretty amusing. How ready was everyone to get out by the time they could?

2: The fishermen are really great, and Ranbob is very lucky. I love them.

3: Isaac sounds like he’s a pretty good fit for it then. But nobody’s perfect! What are some flaws of his, leadership-wise?

5: Interesting. What makes Regeneration and Healing last longer? I suppose it’s not relative to the AU, but I am a bit curious. What’s the world’s potions mechanisms, if you don’t mind me asking? And that’s good! They may not know everything, but they know what to avoid, and that’s important. Everyone’s moved forward and are making the best of life, and honestly, that’s pretty cool of them.

6: Welp, Jackie, it seems intimidation tactic failed. However, you have managed to anger Ran, so..there’s that. He won the lottery? Dang. Well, if they ever need money, they can just send him to the nearest casino, I suppose.

7: Aight, so I may have a solution for you there. Whatever height you’re going for, find something in real life that’s just about the same height. Like a tree, or something. Or not, we can always just leave it at short enough to be tossed and tall enough to be the tosser. Jackie sounds like he knows where to hit to make it hurt, honestly. It’s good that they comfort him, though I am curious why they all react as they do to him being mean. Why does Grievous encourage it? And is it more of a depends on the day thing for Ran, or a depends on what was said to Jackie, and what Jackie’s saying thing?

8: Nice! What kind of places did he go? Does he have any particularly interesting knickknacks from that time period? And Ran personally sounds like he knows what he’s doing. Watson’s weapons sound really cool, where did he learn to make them? Is visiting the Nether not a common occurrence these days? Or is it simply that the others never got around to it before? Well, hobbies are always fun to try. Does Jackie keep at it and get better or get bored and try something else? How does Capture the Fort go with these guys, considering they’re gladiators? Why does Jackie want to visit those particular biomes? Is there a reason, or do they just sound cool to him? And why would Ran not want them going to the Nether? Because of the danger?

9: FDXGHJ- He just- tossed him?? No warning?? Oh my gods, I’m dying. How did Jackie react to that? Heck, how did Porkius react to that? I doubt anyone was expecting that display.

10: Oh, no. Now I really want to punch Dream in the face. What the heck, Dream?! He legit asks if they meant to give him food...If one of the fishermen or gladiators doesn’t eventually find a way to punch Dream, I will be forced to travel realities and do it myself. 

11: Kind of sad that Ranbob was equally concerned about it. But hey! He won’t have to be, one day!

12: Poor Ranbob. I hope he’s proven wrong, eventually. Do the fishermen know that he thinks this? If so, how do they feel about it? Or does he kind of just keep those thoughts to himself?

13: Flower biomes are really pretty. What did everyone think about it? Did they bring any flowers with them? So this roadtrip could possibly go on for a few years. Did they leave just after a General Pit Battle, or do they have like, less than five years? Speaking of General, is Jackie still the General in this AU? Does he have extra duties because of it? Or is that not something that happened in this AU?

14: Yikes. Reactions to this? Why does Ranbob believe Dream’s changed, as you put it? Is Dream still able to talk to him, or is it because he just misses being there? So Benjamin and Isaac aren’t all that surprised about it. Do they take the reins in helping out? And how do they all do so? It’s good that they’re helping him though.

15: Well, this sounds like it can’t end well. They try to use the hauntings as bait? Is anyone actually captured? Rescue missions? And alright, that makes a bit more sense. I can see how they’d both be effected differently, and honestly, they’d probably both have very different perspectives of the event, all things considered. Ravens for the win! And it’d be really cool for them to come across the ruins of old Tales buildings. Can you imagine the kind of things they’d find? Diaries, faded photographs, moth-eaten clothes, blood stained floors...Like a walk in the past, but they’ll never know what came to be for the people of that time.

WHY I LOVE THIS FIC: There are too many reasons to list here without this turning into a 1K essay, so I will break it down into three things. 1) This is my absolute favourite characterization of Magnus in any fic I have ever read. His constant struggles to find a place where he truly belongs with someone he loves and a family to call his own. Found family, especially when it involves Magnus, owns my heart. 2) Its an honest and real look at grief, specifically the scene where burns his Mother’s paintings. Who hasn’t felt this way when dealing the loss of the loved one; wanting physical memories of them gone from your sight, thrown away or in this case destroyed. Luckily Magnus was saved by a pair of strong arms. A scene which really set the tone for their relationship. 3) The airport scene, straight from a rom-com and absolutely breathtaking.

WHY I LOVE THIS FIC: There are few fics in the fandom featuring deaf characters, it can be difficult to portray correctly and this story does an absolutely exquisite job. As someone who is fluent in sign language and has a deaf family member, I truly, truly appreciate this type of representation in any form of media, especially when it is handled so beautifully. Alec is adorable and sweet and so so in love, it takes my breath away. Magnus learning to communicate for Alec’s sake and choosing to learn a most important expression is a moment which will stay with me forever. 

FAVORITE QUOTE: “The charm is said to bring luck and protection.” Isabelle finishes, quietly. “Alec hoped you’d accept it - he told me that he doubts you need protection, that he knows you can look after yourself perfectly well, but he … he hopes that this can help you.” From the corner of his eye, Magnus sees Isabelle’s jaw pulse slightly. “Because he can’t.”

WHY I LOVE THIS FIC: There are plenty of alternate, early season one Malec getting together stories out there, each one with a unique take. This one however has a special touch. A parallel to an early moment in their pre-relationship: The memory demon. Having Alec reveal his long hidden feelings to Magnus through his memories, when the prior time it had forced him to face his issues. The force of Magnus’ “How long?” hits hard. I felt that. Alec kept his feelings from Magnus for years and hurt both of them in the process. Which makes the emotional confession at the end that much more beautiful, it’s ‘I’m sorry it took me so long.’

WHY I LOVE THIS FIC: This fic is my comfort fic; it’s like a warm hug. You get to watch them have more than one first kiss, share a few adorable dates and go along with Magnus as he slowly figures out to break the ‘curse’ while realizing his own feelings. It’s like Groundhog Day at Christmas but filled with love. Also, Magnus showing up to confess to Alec while dressed in pajamas is so on point.

WHY I LOVE THIS FIC: Healthy communication between Magnus and Alec is something we often preach about and while the show did a decent job with it, they could have done so much more. Like with their reunion after the first ‘break up.’. This fic fills in all those gaps absolutely beautifully. Alec’s vulnerability about potentially screwing up and forcing Magnus to leave him, the broken trust they still need to rebuild and the love, there’s so much love here. Present scenes are built around past ones seamlessly so you see how they slowly find their way back to each other. And the bracelet. Don’t even get me started on that. It’s the omamori charm of Shadowhunters fic.

 FAVORITE QUOTE(S): “I love you,” says Magnus and even though Alec’s not consciously thinking about it, some part of him must realize that the necessary thing to do is pull away. But Magnus is still holding onto Alec’s hands, the beads of the bracelet is digging into Alec’s skin and Alec – Alec doesn’t understand. He doesn’t understand why Magnus refuses to let go, refuses to break away from Alec’s gaze when Alec can’t because he’s frozen in place.

“I love you,” says Magnus a third time, as though maybe this time around it’ll make sense to Alec. It doesn’t. “I shouldn’t have waited this long to say it. I just – I didn’t know how.”

Author Story

Shadowhunters made me dig out my fanfic writer’s hat for the first time in over a decade and it’s telling that the very first thing I wrote was a wedding fic because Malec was my inspiration. Malec made me come of out of hiding and I’m forever grateful for it. Playing with those two boys in various situations has been an absolute delight, Magnus’ character has so much depth and Alec is so stalwart and loyal. They are so many ways to make them fall in love over and over again.

The talent of the writers in this fandom is exquisite, inspiring and something to be admired. I am grateful to be here amongst you and even though I suck at updating and I’m extremely unorganized, I’m glad to have a place to share my little words and I’m thankful for the audience I have gained.

A/N: BRO I FUCKIN LOVE THIS ONE. I was on a writer's block and then CAVETOWN MY LORD AND SAVIOR apparently made a song called "Sweet Tooth". I took a lil bit of inspiration from the chorus(hence, the title). You took inspiration from a song, so did I lol. It took me a bit to find the mood for the story, but once I found it I couldn't stop lol. So. Two-parter. Uh a bit of cursing, Rated T. Slight angst for a minute. The names I used are not people I actually know, they're from a random name generator website. Enjoy!

The Host stares at them from across the room.

Well… less ‘stares’ and more ‘keeps his head facing their general direction’. Even so.

They are beautiful. Even with the loss of his sight, he knew they were beautiful. On the inside, at least. He smiles in content as he hears their angelic laugh from across the room. Bing is making jokes again. The Host might’ve been jealous if he were a lesser man and if he weren’t so focused on how their happiness made him happy.

He doesn’t very much understand what he is experiencing. He’d seen movies, he’d read books, he’d listened to songs. He knows what love is. He knows it well.

What it feels like, however, was a completely different ballgame.

Host more focused on his work than on romance. Besides, he just doesn’t like people. He wanted to fall in love at times, but he just couldn’t.

Y/N on the other hand makes him… feel things. He’s not sure if it’s love, he just knows he really enjoys everything they do.

He doesn’t even care that they barely talk to him anymore.

Well… he cares, obviously, but…

You understand, don’t you? Good.

“Host? Hooost. Host!” A voice calls from his side. He hums in response. Bim rolls his eyes and leans back in his chair. “Have you been listening to me for the past ten minutes?”

“No,” Host answers flatly. Bim smiles when he looks over to where Host was facing.

"So you've finally realized you have a crush?" He teased. Host raises his eyebrows.

"Finally?"

"Oh, yeah. We’ve known this, Host, it's really obvious." Host furrows his eyebrows.

"We? What does Bim mean by ‘we’?" They hear footsteps and turn towards the front.

Y/N standing in front of the two, a small, awkward smile on their face.

"Hey," Y/N greets softly. The Host is frozen in place.

"Hey!" Bim says, a wicked grin on his face as he sees the effect on Host. "Didya need something?"

"Yeah, um… Bing told me to ask you where Wilford would be…"

"Oh, well I know nothing about Wilford. I don't think anyone does," Bim explained. “But Host here knows everything, so…” Host turned to Bim angrily. He turns back to Y/N when he hears them clear their throat.

“So, uh, Host?” They ask. Host has to keep himself from shivering at the sound of his name.

“Hm?”

“Where is Wilford?”

“W-Wilford is d-down th-the hall… uh, t-to th-the right f-from the b-bathroom…” Host stutters out, voice cracking once or twice. Y/N smiles and nods in thanks before remembering Host is, in fact, blind.

“Uh, thank you…” They laugh, embarrassed. Host tries to give a small smile. His face isn’t used to that yet, so he settles for a nod. They walk away, and he increasingly becomes more sad and more embarrassed as their footsteps fade away.

“Wow,” Bim laughs, “For a narrator, you can’t talk very well, can you?”

“That is not true, the Host can talk very well…” He pauses, “When he is not around Y/N…”

“Oh, so it’s just them, huh?”

“Yes, they very much affect Host and he isn’t quite sure he likes it…” Bim smiles at Host. “What is the problem with Bim Trimmer?”

“There’s no problem, Host, I’m just happy for you!”

“Why would Bim be happy that Host cannot speak correctly?”

“Because you’re in love, dumbass!” Host would have found the insult very… well… insulting if he hadn’t become distracted by the previous phrase.

‘Because you’re in love’. Was Host in love? He wasn’t sure what that felt like.

There was Serena Munoz in kindergarten. They dated for a couple days. She didn’t like how he read constantly, and decided to break up with him. Host wasn’t in love with Serena. He wasn’t even sure he had a crush on her. Maybe he dated her just because she asked. It didn’t affect him when they broke up.

Then there was Jesse Snow in the sixth grade. He was nice. Trumpet player in the band. They liked to read together in the library at lunch and after school. They recommended books to each other and even wrote a couple stories together. They sat next to each other in math and passed notes in cryptography so the teacher wouldn’t understand. They would, though. But Jesse was scared. Two boys dating in middle school? Not the best for his image. He probably got teased or called gay(which he was) and that’s why they broke up. He liked Jesse. He was sad when they stopped talking. But he didn’t think that was love. It was more of a ‘like’ than anything.

Then Asa Holmes in his senior year of highschool. They were really different. They had blue hair, but he could see the natural-brown in the roots. They wore a lot of black and spikes and chains. They listened to punk rock and heavy metal. Host liked the heavy metal more, so they listened to that more often. They did homework together at Asa’s house, and Asa would start dancing halfway through and it kind of annoyed Host, but he also found it endearing. Then they graduated and promised to keep in touch, but Asa just… couldn’t. Host understood, and they stopped. He was disappointed, but he wasn’t in love with them.

Is this what love feels like? Is it a weird feeling in your stomach when you look at this one person? Is it your heart racing when you see them laugh? Is it hyperventilating when they come over to talk to you? Is that what love is?

Oh.

Oh no.

Host is in love.

Y/N had managed to weasel their way into the dark and lonely place in his soul and fill it with hope and joy and love.

And, oh, how he absolutely loves you.

And what the hell is he supposed to do about that?

“Uh, Host?” Bim calls after 20 minutes of silence from the writer. “Are uh… are you okay?”

“No,” Host answers instantly.

“Uh… why not?”

“Because… Host is in love…” Bim is quiet for a second and Host worries he’s gone Deaf as well. But Bim lets out a loud laugh that startles Host.

“Bing! Get your ass over here, you owe me $30!” Bim yells. Bing groans and drags his feet over to them, mumbling as he takes the money out of his wallet. Host begins to zone out, all the noise around him fading into nothing.

Host was… in love. What was he to do? Tell Y/N? No… he couldn’t. They might hate him. They might think he’s awful. They might stop being around him completely. He couldn’t handle that.

So, what was he to do?

“So, what’re you gonna do?” Bim asks, as if reading Hosts mind. “You’ve got to tell them of course.”

“No.”

“No?” Bim scoffs, “Wha do you mean, ‘no’? You have to tell them, Host!”

“Hos does not have to do anything. Host is content with watching from afar.” Host explains. There’s a pause.

“That’s goddamn creepy, Host,” Bim states. Host frowns. It is a bit creepy.

“Host cannot tell them,” He whispers. Bim, finally seeming to understand, sighs and leans forward.

“Look, Host, I know you’re scared. I know this is unfamiliar territory for you, but…” Bim starts. Host leans a bit towards him, wanting to hear what he has to say. He may treat the man like he’s annoying, but ultimately, Host cares about his opinion. Bim sighs again.

“If you don’t tell them, you’re going to regret it. Trust me I know…” Bim pauses, and Host begins wondering who hurt him. “But, these are your feelings, Host! You can’t keep them bottled up inside you forever. It’s unhealthy. You need to tell them and if they like you back, great! If they don’t, that’s too bad, watch ‘Dirty Dancing’ on repeat and eat a tub of ice cream like the rest of us.” Host tilts his head a bit.

“Host cannot exactly watch--”

“Oh, you know what I meant, smartass!” Bim laughs and Host smiles. He does know what Bim meant, and he undrstands. He just needs to say it. How would he say it?

‘Hi. I like you. Say it back.’

That’s a bit too forward.

But forward is what Host does. It’s who he is, he can’t change that.

He’ll just say that to them when they come back.

Y/N walks back into the room where Bim and Host are. They’re wearing different shoes, he can tell. Are they wearing different clothes as well? Why would they be?

Wait…

“Wow, hey Y/N! Who you dressing all nice for?” Illinois says from somewhere else in the room. Host is pale. He doesn’t want to know.

“Well,” Y/N chuckles, “I’m glad you asked!”

No.

No, no, no.

“I’m actually going out for lunch.”

“Really? With who?”

Stop.

Stop!

“It’s ‘whom’.”

“Fuck you, Google. Y/N, spill.”

Don’t.

Please, don’t.

“I’m going out on a date!” They finally finish. The room is completely silent. Not that Host would hear anything with the ringing in his ears.

He felt bad. He felt so bad. He hated this… feeling. He was so upset.

“Well, don’t all talk at once…” Y/N jokes awkwardly. Bim finally decides to take pity on them.

“Wow! Didn’t know you had it in you!” He teased. “Congrats!” The other egos joined in in a chorus of congradulatory phrases. Host was silent.

“Well, I better go. Wish me luck!” They said, practically bouncing out the door. Everyone said goodbye to them, and the door finally closed. Host could feel everyone’s eyes on him. They all knew. The all knew. And he didn’t until he was too late to do anything.

Typical of him.

“Host…” Bim starts. Before he can say anything else, Host shoots up and makes a beeline for the bathroom. No one calls after him, no one tries to stop him, no one does anything, He is grateful for that. He just wants to sit and wallow, and that’s exactly what he plans to do.

Host heard a soft knock on the door.

“Host?” Bim asks quietly. “Host, it’s Bim. Are you okay?”

“No,” Host whispers. “Host is not okay. Why would Host be okay?”

“Well, uh… you’ve just… been in there a while. I figured you’d have gotten a bit better…”

“Host has not.”

“Oh…”

Silence for a moment, and Host thinks Bim will leave. No matter how much he may try to seem cold, he does enjoy the man’s company.

“Don’t worry. I’m still here.”

Host lets out a breath he didn’t know he was holding.

“Bim?” He hears the other man shift so he is sitting out side the bathroom door.

“Yeah, Host?”

“Do you think Host is worthy of love?”

“Yes.” Bim said immediately. Host waited for an explanation. He got none. He supposed that’s just how it works. Sometimes you don’t get an explanation.

“Bim?”

“Yeah?”

“Do you think that Y/N could be in love with Host?”

“I think… you shouldn’t bet on it.” Host’s shoulders fall. “But, I also think that there is a possibility and you should tell them soon before they fall in love with someone else.” Host brought his head up. Bim was right.

Y/N was going on a date. Presumably, their first date with this person. Dates are used to figure out if someone is in love, or gives an oppurtunity for someone to fall in love. There was still time. He still has time.

Host swings the bathroom door open and Bim hits his head on the floor.

“Ow! Dammit, Host!” He cursed. Host couldn’t feel bad. Not now.

“Host needs help.”

“With what?” Host turns towards Bim, who pulled himself to his feet.

“With getting Y/N to fall in love with me.” Host heard nothing for a second. Then, a chuckle from the gameshow host.

“Alright,” He sighs, “What do you wanna do?”

Slow Down You Crazy Child

Unblocking the block

Hmmm. Imagine there's a thousand puzzle pieces all laid down in front of you. On the side, you have the picture of what the finished product is supposed to look like, but you can't seem to figure out which piece to lay down first. So for the sake of starting, you take one puzzle piece, put it down, then take it out again because you feel like it's not the right piece. You start over. This time, you carefully mull over the piece you're going to be laying down. You've got a couple of options, you check the picture, try to figure out the color patterns, shapes, and sizes to somehow build a strategy, but you still can't seem to figure it out. You're frustrated but motivated at the same time.

Somehow, this is what a writer's block looks (feels?) like. (Insert 5-day gap right here)

I began writing this post nights ago while I was on a jeepney ride home. And I was trying to finish this up just while coincidentally I am, again, on a jeepney ride home. Obviously, I wasn't able to meet said [internal] deadline hence here I am lying down on my bed at 00:05 AM on a Saturday getting it done!! I lost some of the words I intended to write down so I'm having to fumble around for new ones to try to recollect my thoughts. Where was I again? Oh yeah, still here tryinta write about how to unblock this writer's block!

So I'm going to tackle this like it's a science project in essay form. Haha. In my own opinion and personal experience, a writer's block... Sucks! It's counterproductive and frustrating, but motivating when dealt with correctly.

So, I've looked into my personal writer's block moments and here are a couple of reasons (theories perhaps?) of why this phenomenon phenomenates (is that even a word? If not, it should be) and some tips to counter it.

1) Excuses

This could be very broad but I'm just going to throw it all here. Lots of excuses escape our system: "I don't have time to write", "I don't know where to start", "I can't write right now, I'm hungry", "I have other things to do", "I'm not that equipped", "I don't think I can do it." Excuses ekshmyuses (Sa tagalog, excuses mo mukha mo).

I get it, believe me I do because this is prolly my top reason for my writer's block. It's so easy to put off writing because it's something that you can do "during your free time" but what if- WHAT IF instead of writing to kill time or writing during your free time, you free your time to write? I think you've got to view writing as more than just a hobby or activity. It's essential to your sanity. It's essential to the advancement of the plan of God because yes, mmhmm, your writing has a purpose much greater than you can imagine because, to put it simply, words have power. This "hobby" can actually change lives if you really think about it.

And if your excuse is that you're afraid, then by all means just do it afraid. Hey, if fear is not an issue (and it's not, trust me), ask yourself this- how would you begin? See, your greatest critic sometimes is your own self... Be patient with yourself Patience is one of the secrets of your growth process as a writer and as a person altogether.

You can make up a lot of excuses, but none of them will get you anywhere near the starting line let alone the finish line. So scratch out all the items that are hindering you from starting, continuing, and completing the work.

2) Exhaustion

I think the number one enemy of inspiration is exhaustion. This is one of the easiest traps to fall into, but it's also one of the quickest to beat.

It should be instinctive for us to rest when the first blows of exhaustion kicks in, but in a fast-paced world, we could sometimes push ourselves to the limit until exhaustion turns to emotional exasperation. You've got deadlines, but also a family to feed, chores to complete, et cetera... And the next thing you know, you are having a creative breakdown because you're tired and stressed out emotionally and physically. There's only one formula for this: TOTAL REST.

Go on. Go somewhere you've never been to. Go someplace familiar and comforting to you. Rest but remember: don't isolate yourself. And I'm not just talking about physical rest (which is of no lesser importance nonetheless). But there's a rest that you can experience, one which you can never exhaust- and that's resting on God's Grace.

P.S. Take it easy on the caffeine- sometimes, it ain't even helping anymore. Take a day off. In the words of Billy Joel, "Slow down, you crazy child. It's alright you can afford to lose a day or two..."

3. Expectations

Here's where it gets tricky. Expectations can either move you or limit you; build momentum or stop it and it all depends on how you handle pressure. Oftentimes, expectations could put unnecessary pressure on you and that could be because of performance anxiety (kinda like stage fright). Worrying about what people think is counterproductive. Yes, I get that we aim to be excellent; We want to be and we should. But when impressing people becomes a priority over creating something that will impact and inspire them, then you might need a change of perspective. Remember, aim for Godly excellence, not worldly perfection.

Dear writer/creative person/any human being on planet earth, just be yourself (though careful that this doesn't become an excuse to settle... I think that's for another write up). Be who you are created to be. No one else can do you. When expectations (either internal or external) become the wall you hit, look up. See that you have an audience of One. You're not performing. As long as you are alive and breathing, you're bound to make honest mistakes along the way and that's okay!

And hey, from my personal experience, the best way to learn how to handle expectations is simply just to understand that it's [not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight. -Philippians 2:13

So there. Excuses, exhaustion, and expectations are some of the reasons why I personally experience writer's block. This could be relevant to you too. If you're feeling like you're stuck, not just creatively speaking, but even about life in general know that you are never alone! You can overcome. There is hope. And there is always fresh Grace and fresh strength for you to keep on going, creating, writing, designing, dancing, leaping, living, and breathing.

Agree on what you said about Wakanda. I'm a brown person and definitely don't have as much as a say in the matter but the entire sequence felt unsettling. Like they were trying to involve Wakanda and the BP cast but in doing so reduced them to a plot point ratger than a nation with a history - one very different to that of the rest of the white MCU. Plus, Wakanda suffered as much as Asgard and, yet, there seemed to be little or no focus on them? It's almist forgotten? (Sorry for my english)

The narrative use of T’Challa, Okoye, Nakia, Queen Ramonda, M’Baku and Princess Shuri as well as Wakanda its self as plot devices, was bad.

Ignoring the cultural significance of having so many white people in Wakanda at one time. Don’t forget before Klaue and Everett no white man had seen, stepped foot on or so much as smelt Wakanda up until the events of the film. There is no other country in Africa like that. There is no place on earth where indigenous, black or poc people haven’t been enslaved, colonized or at least influenced by colonization (*note: to my knowledge historians if I’m wrong here please correct me). It’s like they just breezed past the significance of this and thought a brief convo with Okoye about Starbucks would cut it. That was bad.

Realistically the film did not have to be set in Wakanda, don’t care about the Infinity War comics, I don’t care about the practical decisions the ‘characters’ made. I’m talking about the MCU writers who made a decision based on capitalism for capitalism's sake.

Black Panther was successful and even if it hadn’t been it’s part of the franchise, so having the Bp characters in Infinity War and having it be set in Wakanda made IW more popular and encouraged more people to see it. Period.

For all the racist, anonymous no picture/header/or theme having porn blogs in the comments of my last post, calling me a dumb sjw who wants to see white people dead, I’m not saying that the Wakandans didn’t have a stake in the battle or should have left everyone else to fight and stayed out of it (although historically, that’s exactly what they did, They ignored two world wars and slavery so...) What I’m saying is they (the mcu writers) could have handled T’Challa and the rest of the Wakandan’s involvement more delicately.

The Black MCU characters (and the DCU) for that matter should only be written by black people, (and the same goes for non-black POCs) Black Panther and Black Lightning have proven that. We are the only ones who can be trusted to represent us correctly and fairly in all our diversity and complexity. That includes both male and female black writers and directors too, because as we saw in the light of that recent Atlanta episode black women also need to be in the room too, badly but I digress.

The reason black and POC voices can be heard so loudly whenever any variation of crossover or in-universe integration is mentioned is due to the treatment of Sam Wilson and James Rhodes and James Olsen and Iris West. That’s why we don’t want Black lightning in the Arrowverse because y’all cannot be trusted. You don’t incorporate us right. We become background characters, helpers. The new crossover film/episode ends up diminishing the previous well-executed content.

So yeah that’s why I made that post and if that post or this one makes you angry you need to have a serious think why.

Can I ask the reason why you hate Lapidot so much? I hate it too (especially the lapidot shippers), but tbh I don't care enough about shipping for it to be a big deal to me.

Honestly, my hatred only comes up when they show up in an episode prominently together otherwise I’m the same way. Thing is, I spend about 99.7% of my time not giving a flying fuck about Lapidot. I have a very ‘live and let live’ attitude toward shipping so I only complain when the show gives me a reason to complain.

It’s because everything about it pushes my specific buttons - the fanbase made Lapidot insufferable for about a year before they ever actually appeared together and that was annoying - I was willing to give the two of them a chance in canon however, trusting the show to handle the couple correctly if that was the choice they made.

I was wrong.

They (specifically one 'they’ but that’s none of my business *sips tea*) handled it exactly like the fanbase did which, in the show proper, makes me much more upset. (And on that one point about a specific they, the comments they made about Amedot/Lapidot aged me ten years and I’m not even a ride or die Amedot shipper… also their very poorly written fanfic is not the most obvious LGBT representation on the show - Rupphire would like to have a word with 'em…)

There’s not any attempt to fix their dynamic/story at this point because a.) the damage is done and b.) why bother when just doing what they’re doing works for a lot of people? It didn’t need to be handled this badly. In fact, it was insultingly easy to make Lapidot work and what they chose to do instead is mind-boggling. They ruin the characters when they shove them together, especially poor Lapis who didn’t deserve this and they actually had to pester and guilt trip her to get her to accept Peridot to begin with and now with Peridot she’s reduced to almost one emotion and that’s 'the snarky/grumpy one’ - it’s to the point where I can tell by how they animate her hair if she’s with Peridot and if I’m gonna hate it. That irks me to no end.

A lot of people complain about the writing which I think is a bit unfair given the show is on-going, not to say no problems exist but a lot of the big problems have to do with how CN airs the show and also how they stretch the filler out to extend the life of the show - for the most part, I trust the writers to fix everything I’d otherwise be mad about… that is, to say, that I think Lapidot was the worst thing they’ve done from a story perspective. Which, again, is pretty sad. There was no reason I had to dislike these two together in theory but in practice I dread when they share screen time WHICH SEEMS LIKE THE ONLY THING I CAN EXPECT ANY MORE.
