I really hope that Rick adds more queer representation in the show since the books were a large part of what made me realize and accept that I am bisexual. Let’s not wait until Cupid outs Nico or until Apollo becomes mortal. They’re kids of the Greek gods make them queer please preferably in the first season.

Percy's a chaotic bisexual, he's decided. He's seventeen, and he's finally comfortable with label he's chosen for himself. Decidedly less comfortable with Annabeth's supposed crush on him. And apparently Rachel's crush on him. And… his not-relationship with Luke. If he didn't have Piper, he'd be sunk. He trusts her to keep his secrets, and to clue him into romantic interests.

It's ironic that Piper leads him through romantic love, when she doesn't feel it herself. She depends on him, too. He was the first person she told about her growing sexuality crisis, after three relationship failures. It hadn't come out of nowhere, something about how she talked about relationships, and her partners had stayed with him, and after she came out to him last year, it fell into place.

Some campers, mostly those that didn't know her well, had been confused. "How could a daughter of Aphrodite not want a relationship?"

No one was homophobic here, it was the Ancient Greek kids after all, but some struggled to understand being aromantic.

She'd confided in him that it was getting to her, and he'd been sympathetic. Aphrodite visited her that summer, and Piper had told her. Aphrodite had laughed, and assured Piper that she supported her, that she understood. There had been more to the conversation, but all Percy remembered was how happy and refreshed she had been for weeks after. He remembered when their bond had been non-existent, when Piper first came to camp, the same summer he did.

Piper had glowered at every mention of her mother, shrugged off her blessings, and belittled everything girly.

Percy was, well Percy was pretty proud of his best friend now. She was mature, strong, and comforting in a way he aspired to be.

He only wished his relationship with his father had the same strength.

It had started out… tense, with a 12-year-old Percy pissed at his dad for abandoning them. And maybe there was something to that he'd too easily forgiven after his first quest. Because even though it had seemed to be good between them, Luke was open wound between them.

Luke had opened Percy's eyes to so much, and maybe their odd quasi-friendship was really corrupting him.

He hadn't talked to his dad in a year, since Percy blew up at him, unable to hold back every little doubt, every horrible thing contrasting with the chill, laid back, semi-deadbeat father he knew.

But he didn't want to think about-

He just didn't.

But it wasn't like the rest of his life was much better.

He loved Annabeth. He loved Piper. Gods, he loved Luke, but that wouldn't save him. And he'd only been friends with Rachel for a year, but he loved her too.

He didn't know all the details. He couldn't sort out the different threads, find what he really felt about all of them. Other than Piper, she was his best friend, basically his sister.

But was Annabeth? Was the flutter of nervousness around Rachel because of her wild ideas and impressive talent, or because he had feelings? Was the way Annabeth looked at him platonic, like had thought, or did she have a crush on him?

And, most complicated of all, his first friend at camp, Luke. He'd known him for years. Knew the teen inside, under what Kronos had made him into. Was the ache he felt for Luke just worry for his ex-best friend, or did it come from a less platonic place?

The racing in his heart during their secret meetups, was that because of the terror of getting caught, or because of something else?

Scratch that.

He knew he had a crush on Luke, he was pretty sure he liked Rachel, he had just been too scared to admit it to himself.

After all, he'd hero worshipped the guy when he was twelve and Luke, fourteen. He still remembered every moment of sparring with Luke. He was willing to- do whatever he was doing now with him, despite the danger it put him (and probably Luke) in. Luke meant enough to risk everything, meant enough to actually listen when Luke talked about the gods.

Annabeth, though, he was less sure about.

He would take on dozens of monsters rather than sort out his own feelings on his love interests (that was just what Piper called them!), let alone act on them.

Great. Now he was thinking about kissing Rachel.

At least he'd taken the first step. He's admitted that girls are pretty, boys are pretty, everybody's so beautiful and strong and he doesn't know what to do about it!

So, fine, maybe Annabeth had been right. He was a bisexual disaster.

“ What does that mean?” I questioned, I heard some snickers rise around the Cabin. 

“ It means you are unclaimed,” Lucy said kindly, looking at me with a smile spread across her face. She must have some sympathy for me since I’m new, I guess.  “ We don’t know who your godly parent is, until then you stay here.”

“ How long will that take?” I must have been making a fool of myself since some people started laughing and Lucy's smile turned into a small frown. 

“ Common,” Andrew said grabbing my hand, “ I haven’t shown you the Volleyball court,”

“ But I-” Andrew grabbed my arm.

“ Let's go.” He sounded irritated. He dragged me far enough to where we were nowhere near the Cabins. I yanked my arm from my hand, touching it in pain, he sure had a strong grip. 

“ What the hell is your problem?” I asked, annoyed. He had the same ass boring expression like he always does when he looks at me. He then changes his expressions if I have murdered someone becoming frustrated. I look at him like are you going to say something? Or?

“ Do you understand how lucky you are?” he asked, looking at me.

“ Excuse me?” I said

“ You got to fight a Manticore, do you understand how lucky you are?

“ I’m lucky I almost got killed?” Is this guy serious? I mean yea he’s a bit taller than me and has an athletic fit and looks cute and all, but seriously? Is he crazy?

“ You were lucky you got to fight a monster. As demigods we train to fight-”

 I cut him off right there and then- “ Are you crazy or something?” I questioned looking at him. “ I don’t care if ‘As demigods we are trained to fight.’ I never wanted to be a half-blood in the first place. I was never lucky,” I said to gritted teeth

“ You don’t understand the world you live in-”

“ Oh and you do, yea sure dumb ass.”

That must have ticked him off, “ I am the son of Athena, Goddess of strategy and wisdom. I’m anything but dumb.”

“ Good for you” I said sarcastically, “ Maybe it will fit with how crazy you are.”

He looked straight up pissed, Good. I thought to myself. I hate when good looking guys think they're smarter than everyone. What, because he’s the son of Athena, tch my ass. This camp is crazy itself. I wanted to get the hell out of here. He looked like he was about to argue but someone cut him off.

“ Well, Well,” spoke a husky voice. Andrew and I both turn around to see a tough looking guy walking towards. He had dark brown eyes with a tint of red glistening on them. His choppy brown hair was let loose with a red bandana tied. He wore an orange shirt and camo pants and shirt with black combat boots, he was the same guy I saw earlier. The guy with the ugly laugh.

“ Who’s this little punk?” He asked

Andrew sighed, “ Persephone Jackcon, meet Cesar La Rue, son of Ares.”

“ I’ve heard,” I grumbled, “ And it’s Seph.” I complained

“ Tch, this the girl who fought the Manticore, s Bet the Manticore started laughing at how wimpy she is. ” His friends from behind him chuckled as he smirked, Like hell I was going to take that.

“ At least I have fought a Monster, what have you done?” I said, I was the one who was smirking. The laughing dialed down, his friends soon became quiet. Andrew looked at me shocked. Cesar looked pissed, worse from what Andrew looked.

“ You think you're tough.?” Caesar said glaring at me.  Stating the obvious, I was most definitely not tougher than Caesar. But being the idiot I am I let my pride get to the best of me.

“ Yea.” I shrugged, he started to square up. His friends around him backed up slowly.

“ Seph-" Andrew said 

Caesar cut him off, “ Stay out of this Nerd.” Andrew was about to say something but closed his mouth shut. I handed him my Manticore horn to him as I met his eyes. He had doughtness in his eyes. “ Be careful,” he murmured. “ Stay out of it,” I murmured back, meeting

It was an obvious mistake for Seph to be fighting someone who was much taller and bigger than her. Although as predicted, Cesar swung at her dragging Seph to where the ‘Bathroom incident’ happened. Creating her the ‘ Supreme Lady of the bathroom,’ to where she soaked the Ares kids and Andrew in toilet water. Though she left the bathroom angry with herself and others, it caused an impression of what power she might hold, and who her godly parent might be. Oblivious to the power she might hold, other campers around start guessing which god she imitated the most. Aphrodite? Maybe because of those gorgeous eyes, or Ares, because of the power and strength she held. Maybe even Zues, to what Andrew had guessed, but yet no one had a clue.

“ I want you on my team,” I turned my head to see Andrew standing there, smiling. Smiling? He can smile?

Oblivious to what he was saying, “ Huh?” was all I could say. 

He laughed, “ I mean, I want you on my team to capture the flag.” 

“ Oh!” I beamed in excitement. We had a sort of warmth feeling with one another as days passed while being in camp. We started to learn more about each other creating a wellbeing friendship. Since Gia is a nymph, I barely saw her. It was nice to have some company around, besides for Lucy, I mean she is also a chill and all but she was much older and she hung out with the senior campers. It was good to have a friend.( Even though they might be a bit bitchy)

On the good side, I think [Percy] finally at least realized that he has a family; that he wasn't alone… And I think he understands that now, because he feels very guilty and ashamed for being such a burden to his family, and that he's been screwing everything up. He's going to spend the next few episodes trying to make up for that very badly. From a place of deep shame and guilt, which is the greatest place to try and be helpful and remind everybody that you're more than a demon that tried to murder them. It'll go great. It goes great. Really helpful. He's going to be super helpful. Nothing bad is gonna happen.

as confirmed in the instagram takeover mark did for @/macmillan_lib yesterday, the 5 chapter preview that was leaked for TSATS was actually's mark's 'audition' to take on the role as co-author for this book.

basically, rick had them write a short sample using the outline he provided, and that's what we've read. keep that in mind.

in the third chapter of this preview, mark wrote the following:

"After a while, though, he became used to the idea that he wanted things he couldn't have: Percy, Bianca, his mother, stability … it was all the same. Getting over Percy was easier than Nico expected. What was one straight boy when you spent your whole life longing for others!"

taking this at face value, you have to realize that these are simply nico's thoughts. he's literally saying that in order for him to cope with percy's rejection, he needed to believe that percy was straight. because of course percy couldn't reciprocate feelings for nico if he wasn't attracted to men.

now remember, rick has stated on numerous occasions that unless he tells us otherwise, every character in his universe is pretty much unlabeled. your headcanon for their sexualities is as valid as the next person's. so even though it seems that this quote is giving percy the label "straight," it technically isn't. nico is simply making an assumption. yes, he could be correct, because assumptions aren't always wrong (i mean percy has a girlfriend, so it's not completely absurd to assume he's straight), but percy has never confirmed or denied that. until we hear it from him personally, he's technically still unlabeled.

on another note, think about how insane it is that this quote even exists in the preview. if rick kept it in the final version of the book, this will mean that percy is the first and only character on the percy side of the riordanverse to be called straight (whether or not it's true). now that within and of itself isn't too crazy, but it's the fact that mark wrote it is. (i highly doubt rick had it written in his outline to "confirm percy to be straight", so this was literally all mark's idea).

now i don't know about mark, but if i was the co-author of this book and i was given free reign to write whatever i wanted to, i would totally capitalize on that. how cool would it be to have the main character of rick's whole franchise be confirmed to be queer!? so why on earth would they crush that possibility within the first few chapters?

which is why i've convinced myself that that isn't what's happening. since percy was brought up in nico's nightmare sequence, it's fair to say that his past with percy hasn't exactly been resolved. he needs closure. and from what i've seen so far, mark seems to be much better at dealing with trauma than rick.

so i have faith that this means we'll be seeing percy in the end of the book, and he and nico will have a heart-to-heart. and in that heart-to-heart, i have a feeling nico is going to say something stupid like, "look, i know why you rejected me. you're straight." and percy's going to be completely flabbergasted, because he's not. queue him coming out as bi.

the important thing to remember is, percy coming out as bi really has no impact on future events. he isn't piper, in which i mean that if piper comes out as a lesbian, automatically anyone who believes jason is cis cannot, morally, ship jiper; if she's bi/pan/unlabeled/etc., there's no issue with shipping them. percy being bi, on the other hand, means he's still interested in women, so percabeth is completely valid.

which is why i can't, in my heart of hearts, believe mark would, for a lack of a better phrase, 'go backward' representation-wise. percy is already unlabeled. why make him straight when bi percy causes no harm?
