a/n - this is a short one, tbh it's kinda bad but in my defense i wrote this at 4am right after waking up 😭 i like the idea so i'll probably rewrite it

it was winter at camp half-blood. the sun still shone as usual, thanks to helios. the air was cold, but something about felt like home somehow.

you were in the infirmary restocking bandages and checking inventory. during the other months there aren't many injuries besides a few bumps and scratches from sparring.

you weren't expecting to stay long in the infirmary since you doubted anyone would come in for anything major. that was until your girlfriend, clarisse, walked through the door calling out to you.

"are you in here?"

"storage room!"

she made her way to the back urgently.

"is something wrong, amica mea?" you asked her without averting your attention from the clipboard in your hands.

she didn't respond and looked at you confused.

when you noticed her silence you looked up at her and smiled bashfully, your golden hue emitting something brighter than usual.

"my love. it's latin."

she walks closer to you, taking the clipboard out of your hand, much to your dismay, and places her hands on your waist, pulling you closer. she presses her soft lips against yours. you quickly kiss her back while wrapping your arms around her neck. the kiss was slow and gentle much like always.

you break the kiss and pull away giggling. "someone's in a good mood."

"shh..you talk too much just kiss me."

you scoffed playfully and placed your lips on hers once again. clarisse kissed you softly and held you even softer. on the outside it was well known that if looks could kill you wouldn't want to be on the receiving end on one of clarisse's death glares. but when it came to you, clarisse was just a lovesick teenage girl.

In the Riordanverse I know there’s vague ancient laws about the gods not interfering too much with mortal affairs. I just feel like after ToA Apollo really pushes that with being around Camp Half-Blood more but also with demigod quests. His favorite way to do so becomes apparent pretty quickly. Demigods come back from quests and random monster encounters with similar stories.

“The monster almost caught us but then, the sunlight reflected off of a broken piece of glass on the street at just the right angle. It temporarily blinded the slimy beast! Gave me just enough time to retrieve my weapon!”

“Oh really? That’s wild! A month ago on my quest there were several basilisks after me. I raised my sword and the sun glinted off of it. It seemed to disorient them. I took the opportunity to slash them to pieces.”

“Huh.” Percy chimes in. “Kind of reminds me of the other day. I was forming a wave to unleash on this giant, hairy, whatever that monster was and the sunlight bounced off of the water. Like you two said, it hit the monster right in the eyes. Not that I didn’t have it handled, but it did let me catch my breath and focus more on the attack and less on getting slashed again.”

Annabeth laughs. “And here I thought you made the water reflect the sunlight on purpose.”

Percy drags his hand across his face. “Is it too late to pretend I totally planned that because I’m just so smart?”

She elbows him and laughs. “Afraid so, Seaweed Brain.”

“Pretty sure I heard someone else talk about something like that happening too.” One of the other demigods remembers. “A random old mirror in the woods of all places. A bunch of crows flew through the trees, it moved a branch and beam of sunlight shined down through the opening. It hit the mirror and reflected right in the eyes of a monster. Gave the girl a couple of seconds, enough time to jab her spear into the monster’s head.”

Annabeth looks to Percy with wide eyes of realization. He meets her gaze. A few seconds later, he comes to the same conclusion that she did.

They see Apollo visiting with his children the following day.

“There’s been some interesting coincidences lately.” Annabeth starts slyly.

Percy joins in. “Yeah, don’t know if you’ve heard but monsters seem to keep getting the sun in their eyes during battles.”

“Oh is that so?” Apollo smiles mischievously. “How unfortunate for the monsters!”

Will hears the conversation and turns to them.

“Yeah Dad, most of the quest related injuries have been more minor lately. Seems campers have been getting just the distraction they need.” He smiles in a way that looks very similar to his dad and crosses his arms. “Almost like the sun is on our side.”

“Now, what would give you that idea?” The god winks and picks up a nearby guitar to join in with his other kids as they play.

When children of Apollo feel very alone or sad...Apollo likes to send his kids signs that he's watching and is there for them, for example if it's in the winter he might make sure they have and extra sunny day or he'll make sure they find a new song they really like. He makes sure his kids see the number 7 a lot...Just small signs but signs none the less his precious babies aren't really alone.

percy jackson was someone who was an often visitor at camp half-bloods infirmary. it was usually because he picked a fight with clarisse la rue - the ares cabins head counsellor, or he got too reckless during capture the flag, the list could go on really.

today was one of those days.

he walked into the infirmary, his eyes scanning the room for his favourite child of apollo. spotting them, he made his way over. smiling through the pain and holding his weirdly-twisted arm, he said hello.

“hello percy, oh my-” you gasp in reply, looking up from your book and spotting the way his arm was bent. “again? come on, sit down, sit down!”

you rushed him over to one of the infirmary’s beds and muttered multiple curses under your breath. opening one of the medical cabinets, you got out a bar of ambrosia for the boy.

“eat a piece of this, it’ll fix you right up. again.” you tell him, giving him a stern look. percy laughs nervously taking the food and swallowing it.

“oops?” he grins, looking at you mischievously. he lets go of his arm and flexes it. “hey! still in one piece!”

you roll your eyes at his antics and chuckle to yourself. “i’d sure hope so. you can stay here until you’re ready to leave.”

percy watches as you begin walk away, and his smile falters slightly. “wait.” he says, making you turn around with a curious look on your face.

“uh- kiss it better?” he asks, then internally curses himself for saying something so stupid. “i mean-”

but before he could finish his sentence you’d already knelt down beside him. you held his arm with a delicate hand and kissed his elbow.

he flushes at the soft yet intimate gesture and tries to stutter out a response. “there you go, feeling better now?” you ask, grinning.

“uh huh..” he agrees, hardly hearing anything other than his own heartbeat.

“good, i’ll be over there if you need me then.” and with that you walked away from where he sat, leaving percy to his own flustered thoughts.

I'm thinking about the Apollo Cabin and crying again y'all fdhdg

Just thinking about Little Will struggling to find a talent that fits with his other siblings, watching them ace Archery and Music no problem, and feeling really self-conscious about it.

Lee making the decision to have him shadow Michael in the infirmary and Michael immediately being taking him under his wing.

First time Will's healing abilities show up Will's confused as to what had just happened but Michael is pumped. Lee practically could see him glowing when they meet back for dinner Michael's so proud.

Anytime anyone even tries to talk down to Will about his lack of Archery or Music expertise like his siblings Michael has to be held back from throwing hands. Especially cause he knows Will takes it to heart.

After BoM, Will's self confidence plummets due to losing his biggest support system and having to take care of so many lives on his own. It doesn't really start to build back up until Nico starts noticing and helps him through it.
