when i was younger, i hated people assuming i had crushes or admitting i liked someone, because i thought they would think it was like how everybody else liked each other.

for me, it was entirely different. when i “liked” someone, it wasn’t romantically or sexually, shit was alterous or queerplatonic.

and i hated saying that i had a crush cuz i knew people would think it was romantic/sexual.

I feel like I missed out on an aroace experience.

Every other aroace person I’ve seen online talks about how they forced themselves to have crushes, or how thought they were bi or pan, or that they wanted to get married when they were little.

Am I really the only aroace who always knew they were aroace and was happy about it? I always knew I never wanted to date or get married, I never faked crushes either. I just said I didn’t like anyone, and when I found out about asexual and aromantic, I immediately knew that’s what I was and I was ecstatic. The feeling of finally having a word for what you are and knowing there are other people like you was incredible, and I still feel that way now. I have never not been happy about being aroace.

Asexuality vs Aromanticism

There’s nothing more I hate than people putting asexual & aromantic in the same category, or getting the two mixed up (which personally I don’t see much).

Asexual = little to no sexual attraction

Aromantic = little to no romantic attraction

Aroace = apart if both the ace & aro spectrums (not necessarily asexual & aromantic)

Therefore, yes, asexual people have the capacity to love someone romantically, so don’t be shocked when someone who’s asexual (or aromantic for that matter) tells you that they’ve found a romantic partner

(I also hate when people tell me I’ll never find someone to love because I’m asexual. I will and I have).

Because after all, sexuality is fluid
