making yourself feel divine: a short guide
i shall update this list as i find/am suggested more things. not all of these will work for everybody, this list is just here in hopes of helping.
-------------------------------------
gods/deities/adjacent
throw a party where everybody brings food. these are their offerings to you.
do some form of fortune or future telling for others or yourself.
wear clothing typical of your pantheon, or themed around what you rule over.
Tumblr media
angels
if you're a guardian, think about who you protect.
gold, white, and pastels in your makeup and clothing.
learn to dance something elegant.
Tumblr media
demons
wear fake fangs in your daily life. (just don't bite through them like i did.)
have meat around. i personally prefer bacon jerky and prosciutto. simulates flesh, if you're that sort of demon.
if you've got a tail, make one. there's several ways to go about this, but i recommend fursuit makers' tutorials. there's also the more expensive option of those electronic ones that move.
Tumblr media
all divinekin
wear accessories related to your correspondences
if you get phantom wings, do things such as going to trampoline parks or, if you're brave, skydiving.
if you so desire, spend some time researching ways to expand your vocabulary and speak more eloquently.
meditate. any sort you'd like.
observe humans. people watching could be rewarding.
candles.
or maybe just ignore all of this. do what you enjoy doing, what makes you feel divine in your own unique way. not all angels are soft, not all demons are evil. not all deities want to be worshipped. no matter what you are, do what you need to be happy.

I don't know if I love or hate days where I feel more strongly connected to my types
Because, yeah I do love feeling like a funky little creature. I like snuffling around and daydreaming about being a divine being. Downside? I've got human business to attend to and for some godforsaken reason I can't escape it
Most days are easier than this, I can just function with minimal effort and keep my nonhuman vibes low. Today though, I want to make a form (nest) out of my bed, I want to stay in my soft clothes and feel my fur, I want to open all the windows in my room and let the light pour in because it makes me feel so at home, I want to people watch and stare longingly like im not one of them. But no, I have to put jeans on, write reports, and finish projects.
Edit: IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO PERFECT TODAY ITS FOGGY OUTSIDE BUT JUST ON THE HILLS AND ALL THE TREES ARE COVERED IN RIME ITS FUCKING SPLENDID

Tips for visualizing what clothes you wore as a divinekin, if applicable
Clothing and presentation has always been important to me as a God, so it's also always bugged me that my "appearance" in terms of clothing never felt right. After all, it's how I presented myself to lower beings! It's important they get the right impression, no?
So here's some tips I brainstormed on how to figure that more out. Could also be used as help for character design, I guess.
-
General Tips:
Throw away stereotypes. Not every god and angel wears flowy white and gold clothing, and not every demon wears dark reds and black. Go with what feels right to you.
Try to seperate skin and clothing. Maybe your skin has patterns on it or has fluffy bits/fur, and it's not a piece of clothing!
Trust your instinct. Often, your gut is correct when it comes to this type of stuff. If you look at an image and immediately go, "No, that's more something an angel would wear where I come from, so that's probably not at all like what I wore", congrats on the kin memory! But also, it's probably right.
Determine whether looking at external sources will aid you or not. For some people, looking at things like pinterest or picrews may help them visualize or trigger kin memories. However, for some it may give undue influence over what they're already trying to visualize. So, determine if you're more of an internal or external type of person.
Visualize. If you can visualize inside of your head, try meditation. While meditating, imagine yourself as a seperate entity to talk to. Imagine mirrors, imagine your "home." If you can't visualize inside your head, try pinterest, google, or character creators like picrews. Or, if you can, draw!
Consider your domain, if you know it. Fictional example, but, look at the gods of Kid Icarus. Palutena has white and gold flowy clothing, and a large pendant on a necklace resembling a sun. Her colour palette and symbolism make sense as she's the Goddess of Light. Contrasted with Viridi, who wears saturated magenta, red, and purple (much like that of a flower) with a more faded leaf-green. Parts of Viridi's outfit look like they're made out of wood, her shoes resemble leaves, and she has a flower crest on her dress. Naturally, Viridi is the Goddess of Nature. To put a long story short, your domain may have a heavy influence on what your outfit looks like.
Make a distinction between general feelings and specific details. Is that EXACTLY what your top looked like, or do you just have the general idea that you had a bare chest showing? Is your skirt EXACTLY that long and has EXACTLY that many layers, or do you just have the general idea that you wore a long flowy thing as a bottom?
The Senses
Often, the question you're trying to answer is "How did it look?" But if you're having trouble with that, we can turn to the other senses.
How did it feel? This is probably the most important one. What material was it made out of - silk, cotton, wool? Was it soft and smooth, or was it more fluffy and comfortable? Was it heavy, or light?
On the contrast, how DOESN'T it feel? Where do you not feel your clothing? If it was a cold or windy day, which parts of your body would you feel it the most in? This can help with narrowing down the shape of your clothes and where it covers and doesn't cover.
How did it sound, if at all? Is it silent, or do parts of your clothing make noises as you move? Maybe you have jewelry or adornments that clack together or jingle as you walk. If you were to rub against different parts of your clothes, what sound would it make?
Taste and smell are a little weird to talk about when it comes to clothes, but they have their uses. Maybe you're struggling to figure out just what part of your outfit you're imagining or being reminded of. If so, you could take this part and imagine what it tastes or smells like - if it tastes/smells metallic, it's probably jewelry, etc. Smell could also hint at the material, like if it smells naturey, maybe it's made out of leaves and wood.
And lastly, like I said before, trust your gut! Don't take everything in this post as absolute fact that must apply to you - these are just guiding tips to hopefully get you closer along your pathway.

wingkin artists! you KNOW the struggle of drawing wings.
they bend and fold in complicated ways, the length and texture of feathers varies based on what part of the wing they’re on… they’re just a headache in general.
HOWEVER! i have discovered a life hack!
use MLP wings as a reference!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the shapes, feathers, and the way they bend are extremely simplified! while they’re very cartoony and won’t suit every style, they’re a great reference if you’re having trouble laying out the basic shapes.
i can draw my wings now! C:

What made you realize you were otherkin?
I always knew I wasnt.. entirely human. It wasn't until I found the term otherkin (ironically, in an otherkin hate video where they claimed they all otherkin were "faking it for attention.") that I connected the dots :)

I like to sit in my armchair and place a comforter all around me so it cocoons my body. I draw it up around my arms, shoulders, and torso. Sometimes my legs, too, if I'm able to pull them up.
The warmth and softness of it feels close to that of my angel wings, and I am comforted. I feel safe, and comfortable, and like I have some place to hide. Somewhere to retreat to when the human world overwhelms me.

The biggest tip on connecting to your theriotype / kintype
I see many alterhumans ask what they can do to feel that beautiful peace and euphoria. We all want to be happy but many of us don’t know where to start. This post will be a piece of advice to EVERYONE no matter if you are trying to connect to a feline identity or an aquatic identity.
Tumblr media
Do not try to put yourself in a box.
I know. It can be extremely thrilling when you see or hear an experience that resonates with you. “Oh! I feel that too!” I’m not saying those moments aren’t validating because they 100% are.
What I am saying, however, is that… if you’re a cat theriotype and you love to swim or you don’t like eating fish - don’t panic. Many cats love to swim and don’t like eating fish. If you’re an angelkin but you don’t vibe with The Creator or you don’t feel “soft, gentle and pink” then that’s fine. You know why? Some angels don’t vibe with The Creator and MANY don’t feel that softcore vibe.
The sooner you realize that one golden retriever isn’t the same as another golden retriever — you’ll understand your own golden retriever theriotype.

I did a little doodle to represent me, and it ended up turning out how I wanted but it feels nothing like how I look. I was gonna have it as my pfp but I settled on a real hare instead, so enjoy my art here!
Tumblr media
Very amateur digital art but for ibis paint on a phone using my fingers I would say it's pretty nice (also it took me 11 hours, don't hate, appreciate)

What I've noticed in the angelkin community is that we are all expected to be these dainty, skinny, porcelain pale, blonde, blue eyed, kind and quiet humanoid things.
So I've compiled a list of angel care for all my fellow angels who do not find themselves in that stereotype.
This is just the first volume with bits coming from my own experience, feel free to submit your own tips for the next volumes!
[Care for Grotesque Angels vol. I]
1. Encourage yourself and other angels to embrace their unique qualities and celebrate their individuality. Remind them that beauty and holiness comes in all forms, and there's no one-size-fits-all definition of what an angel should look like.
2. Go to places where reality feels altered. Those places that make your back and the top of your head tingle. And laugh, scream, run, make weird noises, bask in the sunlight. Just go ape.
3. Say random words in latin and enochian (you never finished Supernatural) to strangers, etch them on walls. When you have that random latin word stuck in your head just write it everywhere obsessively until it goes away.
4. Be divine. Or don't. Spit on the stairs of churches, or go inside ones you've never been before and just sit in the back. Don't get up for the hymns, don't do anything. Just stare at the priest. At the paintings. Look at Gabriel on the wall looking back and think "brother." Look at Jesus, think how uncomfortable that position must be. Think how many times has God betrayed (you ask yourself "who", someone says everyone. You're alone.) Think he should go to therapy and take his meds. Leave chocolate coins and apples in the offering basket. A book about good parenting. Never go to that church again.
5. If you are, be unapologetically, annoyingly, fully and loudly queer. Be a faggot, a transexual, be one in their churches and scream at them how they have no idea about what the truth is (you don't know either, but it's fun.)
6. Be angry at God. Scream at him, bleed for him, ignore him, cry for him, laugh with him, fuck him, make love with him. And then forget he ever existed and hope he left the body of that 20 years old with black box dyed hair and won't find his next home in the heart of your new lover.
6.5. Slam your door like he just told you to go to your room and took your mp3, and you're packing a bag to runaway with chocolate and your birthday money while your mother (mother?) watches fondly from your white door frame with a look that says "He didn't mean to." But she will not say. And you'll never know. You go to sleep angry. Running away is too hard. And there's gravity falls on tv in the morning.
7. Hold Judas's anger, bask in Jesus's kindness. Be a warrior like Michael. A messanger like Gabriel. An anarchist like Lucifer.
8. Use the Bible to your heart's content. Read it, rip it apart, burn it. Use it to draw, keep stable that wobbling table, roll a lavender cigarette for your lover after they "took you to church," as Hozier would say. Make a flame and make smores with your friends, tell stories. You will never see them again. But the memories will replace your blood. Transubstantiation.
9. Kiss a priest, or kill one. Run for pope, burn a church. Disappear into a forest. Become one with the flowers and the moss and the grass and the water and the moon and the sun and the stars and the birds and the maggots and the foxes and the bears. Become the genesis. Become God. And then go out and get pizza.
10. Pray. Or don't.
