✶ DRACONIC GLORY ✶

[ * ARHRRGRGHJRGHRGH this is finally DOOOONEEEEE ]

[ * I've never done such rendering with this method before (painted it and picked the colors by hand in a layer above the sketch/lineart and base color layer) and it turned out SO SO WELL ]

[ * I also wanted to give it a touch of computer-screen-ish-look because that just adds so nicely ]

[ * Took 8 hours in total, drawn on Krita along with a Wacom Intuos S tablet ]

[ * Feels nice to draw my dragon kintype :} i haven't really done a fully-rendered drawing of myself in a while ]

[ * Also a small attempt at poetry... alterhuman poetry.... i don't really write poetry so apologies if it's wonky :P but i'm personally happy about it! ]

When I started realizing I was non human I was a little embarrassed because I thought I was being silly, but the more I read about other peoples experiences especially with body parts that aren’t there, “phantom’s.”

I remembered constantly believing my canines were longer and sharper. That I could skewer things and bite and rip and tear.

That’s the same experience, it’s not like a tail I can feel but I can feel those teeth sometimes that tore open cattle and small animals. I still feel them.

breaking news: local dragon curls up in nest and goes to sleep (not in a human body) and does not have to go to high school tomorrow (dragons don't have to go to school) nor does he have responsibilities (that's human propaganda) outside of hoarding shiny things and terrorizing local villages (totally not just collecting rocks and (grudgingly) talking to classmates)

I recently watched a lovely lecture about dragons on youtube that a friend shared with me!! it is very difficult to find things that go in-depth on the medieval depiction of dragons (which is what I am) but this lecture discusses a few medieval dragons and their possible origins, which was very delightful 🐉 it also touches on east asian dragons a bit!

I just ate some beef ribs for dinner and holy fuck it was good

10/10 otherkin experience (as a meat-eater)

They taste good and it’s easy to scrape your teeth against the bone

There is a lot of meat between my teeth though so the aftermath isn’t as fun. Also the Grease. The fucking Grease. I had to wash my hands twice while eating because Grease Is Not A Good Experience.

Anyway my family thinks I’m weird now 👍

Dragon vocals!

When i first found out that i was dragonkin, i was a little confused on vocals. I didn’t know what sounds dragons made or how to make those sounds. So, i’ve made a list of sounds and how to do them, i hope this helps :) Lmk if i missed any sounds!

Growl - this is a low, deep sound that should come from the back of your throat. Try making an ‘r’ sound! You can look at videos of other animals (like big cats) growling to get an idea of the noise!

Hiss - This is similar to how a cat hisses! When a dragon does it, it’s generally much lower and slower than a cats fast, high-pitched hiss. Try to make a ‘sh’ sound but stress on the ‘s’. Your tongue should be on the top of your mouth, with the sound coming from either side.

Roar - This can be a little tricky, it’s not just shouting! It’s a bit similar to the growl. It should be low and deep, with a bit of ‘rumble’ to it. Try saying ‘roar’ but less definitively. You shouldn’t be ‘saying’ it, but follow the pattern, if that makes sense? Start by growling (your ‘r’ sound), followed by a deep ‘shout’ (the ‘oa’) and then back down to a growl (the ‘r’ again.) This can be noisy so practice when you’re home alone or in a sound proof room so you don’t disturb your family and neighbours too much!

Next is the ‘emotional’ noises. Now, really, a dragon can make a variety of noises other than hiss, growl and roar, so these aren’t set in stone. Feel free to do whatever feels natural! But these are just some basic emotional sounds to give a bit of a guideline.

To show love - Dragons may ‘purr’ like cats, however it will be a bit different. A dragons purring is mostly a growl, but softer and quieter. You can watch videos of cats purring to get an idea!

To show aggression - Dragons will growl and roar loudly when aggressive! They may also hiss.

To show fear - When a dragon is scared they may ‘whimper’, like a hiss but softer, or they may growl to show that they will fight. To make the ‘whimper’ or hiss noise, make a hissing noise then make it quieter and softer. When growling in fear you can add a bit of a stutter.

To alert - Dragons will likely make a high pitched, loud noise like a screech. It may have a bit of panic to it. Think of it like a ‘hree’ or ‘shree’ but loud, like you’re shouting it! To make it, say ‘hree’ or ‘shree’, but like a roar, don’t define the word too much. Make it high pitched!

Keep in mind, you don’t have to do all of these, or any at all! make whatever noises feel natural. For the emotional ones, they can be useful for doing quadrobics or mental shifts! It makes you feel pretty connected and natural, making the same noise as your kintype would to react :)

Watched that Netflix movie "Damsel" last night.

I can say, it was pretty awesome. Like I loved how the movie didn't wait to show us the dragon until the last five minutes, we got to see how the dragon moved, spoke, flew, and got close up shots and all that. The dragon had character, emotions, motives.

As a othekin, I always keep some movies in my back pocket if I'm looking for some representation. This one is definitely getting added to the list.

It scratched a movie itch that I thought would never be soothed. Not only that, but the human characters were all really interesting too. It's a simple movie sure, but deeper themes are there.

Either way, loved it. Would recommend for a solid watch. Nothing groundbreaking but enjoyable.

What other movies/shows are out there that are just otherkin/therian/alter human straight moods?
