making yourself feel divine: a short guide
i shall update this list as i find/am suggested more things. not all of these will work for everybody, this list is just here in hopes of helping.
-------------------------------------
gods/deities/adjacent
throw a party where everybody brings food. these are their offerings to you.
do some form of fortune or future telling for others or yourself.
wear clothing typical of your pantheon, or themed around what you rule over.
Tumblr media
angels
if you're a guardian, think about who you protect.
gold, white, and pastels in your makeup and clothing.
learn to dance something elegant.
Tumblr media
demons
wear fake fangs in your daily life. (just don't bite through them like i did.)
have meat around. i personally prefer bacon jerky and prosciutto. simulates flesh, if you're that sort of demon.
if you've got a tail, make one. there's several ways to go about this, but i recommend fursuit makers' tutorials. there's also the more expensive option of those electronic ones that move.
Tumblr media
all divinekin
wear accessories related to your correspondences
if you get phantom wings, do things such as going to trampoline parks or, if you're brave, skydiving.
if you so desire, spend some time researching ways to expand your vocabulary and speak more eloquently.
meditate. any sort you'd like.
observe humans. people watching could be rewarding.
candles.
or maybe just ignore all of this. do what you enjoy doing, what makes you feel divine in your own unique way. not all angels are soft, not all demons are evil. not all deities want to be worshipped. no matter what you are, do what you need to be happy.

I don't know if I love or hate days where I feel more strongly connected to my types
Because, yeah I do love feeling like a funky little creature. I like snuffling around and daydreaming about being a divine being. Downside? I've got human business to attend to and for some godforsaken reason I can't escape it
Most days are easier than this, I can just function with minimal effort and keep my nonhuman vibes low. Today though, I want to make a form (nest) out of my bed, I want to stay in my soft clothes and feel my fur, I want to open all the windows in my room and let the light pour in because it makes me feel so at home, I want to people watch and stare longingly like im not one of them. But no, I have to put jeans on, write reports, and finish projects.
Edit: IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO PERFECT TODAY ITS FOGGY OUTSIDE BUT JUST ON THE HILLS AND ALL THE TREES ARE COVERED IN RIME ITS FUCKING SPLENDID

May I request some vegetarian foods for a godkin? Food preference wise...maybe some things easier to make or pack, leaning on the healthy side (not /necessarily/ lowcal but good nutrients, could be considered healthy, etc) savory and sweet is good, crunchy is good.... No ketchup or tomato paste please..hopefully that's enough info?
Absolutely!
Spring Radish Salad
Pink Deviled Eggs
Melting Sweet Potatoes with Maple Pecan Sauce
Mango Lime Mozarella Toast
Homemade Green Tea Pocky
Vegan Seedy Bread
Minty Pea Purée on Toast
Hope you enjoy these ♥ Thanks for the request!

I really love how you’ve developed PK, Lurien, WL and all the other shit (ive been binge-reading all your hcs lol). How do you do it? I’ve been meaning to make better HK ocs by developing them more deeply, so maybe you could offer some tips?
Tbh? I blame it on it being a special interest. I’m a person who is very dependent on highly specific details to write about specific characters, so I need to develop them extensively in order to imagine them in any set scenario, which means that I am thinking about them nearly 24/7. As for HOW I begin to develop them, I do that by gathering all the evidence that we already know from canon to try to give myself a baseline idea of their personality. For example, with Lurien I used a combination of what little we had from canon with a good portion of the cut content, with WL I spent a lot of time analyzing her dialogue, and with PK I used a lot of environmental cues, because we know that he’ll try to cover up his flaws in writing. Once I have a good idea of their personality types and how they react to things (Lurien is reclusive, artistic, and loyal, but he seems to be the thoughtful, careful type, rather than a blind follower, for example, WL is kind but severed from mortal reality, and PK is very logical and cold, but he is avoidant and a coward), I then start to imagine them in different scenarios, and try to figure out how they would react to things, or I try to imagine what past events they might have encountered in order for them to react in such a manner. For PK and WL, I typically use their species as a baseline for this, bc they’re not human-analogous at all, whereas for mortals like Lurien, their species matters less than the culture they were raised in. So that narrows down the routes that they will take if they were to react to new stimuli; for example, chucking Grimm right smack dab into the middle of their bedrooms. Lurien is not a god, and he is reclusive but polite, so he would most likely be alarmed by the intrusion, and then spend a good deal of time trying to politely usher him out before giving up. The White Lady, however, is a god, so she would be rather territorial; she’d just show it in a different manner than her husband, acting coldly and using the environment to her advantage to attempt to get rid of him. Whereas wyrms are not just godkin, but are also aggressively territorial to hell and back, so PK would be all up in Grimm’s face trying to force him to back down, while also trying to force himself to not be an instinct-driven bitch about it
Does that help at all?

do you have any tips on identifying trolls / troll blogs / bad faith in general? i am autistic & fairly new to the kin community in general, i'm worried about being swindled. thank you in advance, hoku!
Hello, grey friend with sunglasses!
This is a really good question, actually, and it addresses the whole reason that trolls are a problem– the good ones can be mistaken for serious otherkin, especially by people who have little to no experience with the community. As a fellow autistic person, this is something I used to have trouble with, too. However, you eventually start picking up on patterns.
So, how does one go about spotting trolls? Some hallmarks that I look for are:
•"ridiculous" kintypes. Food is really common. This one can be hard, since ridiculousness is subjective, and there are some people with out-there kintypes who are completely sincere. This sign really only applies in conjunction with others.
•odd pronouns, especially nounself. As with before, this is only in conjunction with other signs.
•a million labels, often conflicting with each other. You may as well have the entire dictionary.
•sudden appearance with a lot of posts. Usually trolls like to hit fast and hard.
•over-use of "uwu" and similar emotes.
•a LOT of posts about species dysphoria. Serious otherkin will address this topic on occasion, but trolls often make it every other post.
•posts about how their kintype interferes with normal human functioning. Most otherkin would seek help if it interferes (which it almost always doesn't).
•posts about otherkin being oppressed (especially the poster). This ties in a lot with the previous point, since they like to say that being "forced" into functioning normally is oppressive and they shouldn't have to do it (famous example: the rabbitkin in a restaurant post).
•posts about being triggered by stuff related to their kintype. This especially applies with "foodkin" ("please don't talk about eating I'm biscuitkin and it's really triggering"), but can also be related to other kintypes.
•inflammatory behavior. They come onto the tags, and start fights when someone tries to gently correct them.
•justifying shitty behavior with their kintype (i.e. zoophilia, acting out in public, eating stuff they shouldn't, etc.). This is easily the biggest marker, as well as the one that fools the most outsiders. We've all seen the posts about the dragonkin eating gems and the cat therian who is attracted to cats. Those are notorious troll posts that are still passed around by anti-kin despite being years old and demonstrated to be fake many times. It's definitely rarer than the others, though they definitely get the most attention when they show up.
Some stuff that is usually not troll behavior:
•having a lot of kintypes. This is common among younger folks and people who aren't totally familiar with otherkinity as a concept, but not trolls.
•on that note, misinformation. Same as above.
•unusual kintypes (when not accompanied by other markers of trolls). I've seen some very odd kintypes with some totally serious folks.
Some other people to avoid:
•people who pretend to know everything. We are all humans, whether we like it or not, and are ergo fallible. Nobody knows everything. Be wary of what they tell you.
•godkin/deitykin who demand worship. Just don't bother with them, you'll be a lot better off.
•physical shifters (a.k.a. "p-shifters"). These are folks who claim they can physically transform into another being. They also call themselves lycans, werewolves, and shifters. They lurk in the corners of the community, making grand claims with zero evidence to back it up. They tend to prey on vulnerable people, forming small cult-like groups of followers who all believe that they, too, will one day have their first shift. However, physical shifting is impossible, despite how much we wish it wasn't. Avoid these folks at all costs.
The listed troll behaviors are almost never isolated– trolls usually exhibit two or more behaviors from the list. Usually, I keep my guard up at one, but once you see at least two, you can be pretty sure they're a troll. However, I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt until they actually start hurting people.
This was a really good question, and it's good information to know. Thanks for asking!
Edit: added some stuff and corrected some typos

WHERE ARE ALL THE THRONES
I see archangels and seraphim all the time, powers and virtues less so but they're still there, now where's the all rest of yous?
I've been heavily considering a throne as my kintype it's the choir I feel best represents myself but I want to know how others feel so I don't create myself an echo chamber.
I'm leaning towards throne because I don't feel wing shifts I just feel divine. I don't feel like I am god just feel like I was close to god. I do not wage war or guard people and I don't think I have a dominion. I obviously can't claim to know any divine plans because I'm a silly earthly being for now, but wisdom and advice has always been very important for me to be able to hold and give. The only hesitation I'm having is that comparing my earthly body to something so perfect feels hubristic and blasphemous. I don't think I ever fell from grace either, I just occasionally feel a deep sorrow for the ones who did which is a little strange and hard to explain.
Anyway, thanks for your time!

do you have any tips on remembering a past life?
Why yes. Yes I do, anon.
Tumblr media
I’m going to get this question a lot so I might as make a long post about it right?
How do I remember my past life?
It’s simple! Don’t start all the giggling now, I promise you, it really is simple.
I like to break it down into a couple of really easy steps. Dreams, urges, resonation, and meditation.
Ready kids?
Step 1: Dreams
Dreams are probably one of the most underrated ways of remembering a past life out there. And that’s mainly because it can be the trickiest.
Because we all have those dreams that go a little something like this:
“Uh, what does the dream of me becoming a crab who could herd elephant/horse hybrids have to do with me being a god in a past life?”
Not all dreams mean anything about your past life!!!
But if you’re a questioning otherkin person who believes you could fly in a past life and you have a dream about soaring through the air with peachy wings, hey, it’s probably a connection!
Keep a dream journal, weed out the unrelated ones, and soon you could have a big list of memories or indicators! Get to writing!
Step 2: UrgesI call this section for lack of a better word. This section can mean a lot of things. Shifts, longings, feelings, etc. With otherkin who experience shits (sidenote: not all otherkin feel shifts, and these shifts are like feeling astral limbs/wings, mental shifts into that kintype’s state, etc) this could mean that you feel shifts relating to that character. Don’t take that for granted! Shifts could be a huge indicator of finding your past life OR kintype.Longings and feelings go hand and hand. For example, you might have sudden urges to be around water or a certain longing for trees.
This doesn’t always mean anything, but if it comes up in speculation of a past life or kintype, take it into speculation!
Step 3: Resonation
This again might be a word I use for lack of better one. This is just what I feel happens when I see/hear/or feel something that gives me memories/feeling of my past life or kintype. Names deeply resonate with me, as well as colors. If you see something and you like it a lot or it hits really close to home with you but you’re not sure why, it could be resonating with you.Keep a close eye on this one, it is probably the hardest to discern, but it is very helpful!
Step 4: Meditation
Hey now, I know meditation isn’t for everyone, but if it’s your thing, sit a spell and try this.I personally meditate laying down with my arms folded over my chest, I dunno, it’s just really easy for me.I ask myself a question, one that I think is “locked away” and that I want revealed to me. This question could be anything, but mine usually come as a list of names, a scene, or a big group of colors.Meditation is super important. I’ve gotten so many memories from it, and for that I am very lucky. If you can ever remember anything from meditation, write it down and think on it!!
Overall
I really hope that this was just generally helpful and that anyone questioning right now can use it. And if you can never remember, that’s okay! It doesn’t make you any less you.Hope this helps!

RB week 8-Don't be nervous!
Some useful information I have taken away from this course, and video analysis of storytelling are quite diverse. I thought I knew about public speaking, but this week’s course study emphasizing stage fright, and other associated fears of speaking made me re-evaluate my speech skills and fears. While I am my toughest critic, I also see the validity in Julian Treasure’s seven deadly sins of speaking.
I Have summed up his 7 deadly sins as narcissistic behavior. From gossip to excuses, those behaviors are “a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and lack of empathy” (Godkin, 2011). We as growing leaders need to try our best to defeat these narcissistic behaviors and ensure that they don’t seep their way into the fabric of our organizations, as they are easy influencers and can bring a team down quickly if not addressed. Without even knowing, I employ many of the storytelling techniques that Kevin Hart uses as he tells his monologue or a story on the Late Show.
I have always used my sense of humor to win over people, even if I don’t have a lot of depth in the subject material and employ my existing knowledge to piece together some common ground about the topic at hand. I believe that humor and a light-hearted nature when delivering a speech can take you a long way. It is a sure-fire way to show humility and will help put the audience members “on your side”. If you mess up a line, or draw a blank on a thought, the audience who has built a temporary rapport with you the speaker, typically will not wish to penalize you, as they have a sense of empathy and want to see you succeed as you have kept them intrigued with your story.
Kevin Hart has the uncanny ability to make fun of himself, and his counterparts without disrespecting them or creating an awkward situation. While I think this important, not everyone can pull it off, so one must be careful in attempting to bring comedy into a speech/interview. I can recall when I conducted my interview for Spirit Airlines, my interviewers and now my direct managers, Joelle and Bert; I fed off of their body language and saw an opening to introduce a bit of humor and light-hearted nature into the interview.
I spoke about topics not involving the task at hand, and we spoke for several minutes before even conducting the interview. By the time they were ready to officially ask me interview-related questions, we had already built up a temporary friendly relationship, with a mutual respect. I got the job, and both managers still talk about how I should teach how to interview on digital platforms. With the post-COVID world still lurking around, most interviews are digital/zoom and it can be difficult for you as the interviewee to put your best self on display in front of a camera. This is when the importance of storytelling and getting the other party on your side is crucial.

So I feel like something needs to be said, in the case of spirit relationships and finding out your kin spouses etc
So, I see a lot of posts dedicating love and devotion to many spirits, gods, angels, especially Lucifer, Michael, Gabriel, etc.
I just want to say that, especially in the case of Lucifer, even if you are actually married to said entity, chances are they are polyamarous, like maybe a 95% chance. I just want to put this out there because I know there’s a lot of young folk on here who are discovering their memories and Kintypes and whatnot. I just want to stress that most likely a spirit will not be faithful to only you.
I am not saying this to be mean, or condescending, but I’d like to open some people’s eyes so they don’t make the mistake of thinking that a spirit relationship means the same as a human relationship, and then ends up getting hurt in the end. It sucks, it goes against many people’s beliefs, and sometimes it can be plain annoying especially if you’re prone to jealousy.
But just so we’re clear: unless EXPLCITLY stated and agreed upon by both of you, more than likely you’re not the only one seeing said spirit/entity/deity. So make sure that your expectations are realistic and you don’t automatically assume something, otherwise it’ll just end up being painful for you in the end.
I’d like to get into more stuff on another post, about healthy spirit relationships and balancing human relationships and spirit world relationships, especially for the younger folks out there so I’ll probably be posting that later on today.

Hello. I recently discovered that I am a godkin(my kintype is Hades/Pluton) What should I do next? How do I gain my power? What tips/advice do you have
I recommend that you put study into actually mythology and lore to help you figure out your memories of that life and part of you. Try to do some guided meditation or practice Astral traveling to do your own digging. Also try to keep your 'powers' as lodged in natural law as possible, even magic runs by realism. You may have ease in many things and many kinds of magics but it's not going to display in any world shaking ways.
If you need someone to talk to more about this you can dm me, I'm fairly new along this path too <3
