Octopuses show affection with cuddling! They are very curious creatures and tend to learn about new things with lots of touching!

Azul more than likely won’t allow Yuu to see his animal form unless they are very close and they swear not to tell anyone how chubby he is in said form. Until then, he’s always got his hands on them, cradling their face and rubbing their cheeks or just wrapping an arm around them. Yuu is basically his personal body pillow.

His tentacles have a mind of their own. Azul can’t stop himself from wrapping them around Yuu just to hold them close. Yuu leaves cuddle sessions looking like they’re covered in hickies from head to toe. Those suction cups are no joke. Jade and Floyd tease them and Azul relentlessly for this.

Nobody actually knows if Malleus has his own dragon treasure hoard. There’s rumors that his hoard lies somewhere in an abandoned castle in his hometown or in a secret place on Sage’s Island. Surprise! It’s in Ramshackle Dorm. Malleus sees Yuu as his most precious treasure so naturally he ended up leaving shiny objects around the dorm. It started with little things like gold coins or little jewels until it became a full blown hoard.

Yuu just moves all of Malleus’s treasure items into an empty bedroom where nobody grim can mess with it. Now that room is kind of like their nest. Malleus loves to lay in there with Yuu in his arms, hidden away from the world. A room full of beautiful jewels and gold and other treasures but his eyes remain on Yuu.

“Do you like that diamond I found, child of man? You may keep it if you like… Lay here with me for a moment, darling. Does this not feel like a fairytale? do you have any advice for writing image descriptions? I’ve been wanting to add some to my art but I don’t know how to go about it

hello anon!!! that’s a wonderful thing to want to do and im happy to offer whatever help i can :3

so because image descriptions are very much a community effort, that does also mean there isn’t really a style guide or anything, which can be freeing but also quite intimidating! here are some kinda off the top of my head suggestions:

If ur comfier putting the ID in alt text than the post body, that is still much MUCH better than no ID at all (and side note, if someone copy+pastes ur id into a reblog, it’s not a suggestion that you did anything wrong, they’re just trying to make them maximally accessible. while a lot of ppl who need IDs will use screenreaders and will prefer alt text, there are ppl whose preference is plain text in the body of the post (i personally fall into this category))

similarly, if you are struggling to write an ID/don’t have the energy/etc, i cannot recommend People’s Accessibility on discord highly enough. there are some wonderful folks in there who can give you pointers or even write IDs for you! likewise, i can’t speak on others’ behalf but i’ve gladly written IDs for ppl’s posts before they’ve put them up before, and i’m happy to do so, even if we havent interacted before! you can shoot me a DM with the image you need described and i’m glad to assist

more specifically:

it’s good practice to include the name of the fandom and the characters, assuming it’s fanart. altho it’s likely that fanart will stay broadly within a circle where people are familiar with the source material, there may be ppl who encounter the post and wouldn’t know this detail without it being laid out explicitly

you’re welcome to mention whichever details you like, especially if you are the artist, because you know what’s important to the image as a whole. it’s also perfectly acceptable not to get super detailed on things like clothing/hairstyles, especially if they aren’t relevant to what’s going on

a good rule of thumb is to ask yourself, if you didn’t have the image in front of you and just had the description, would it be a true representation of what the image looks like/portrays? would your mental image be accurate? that’s what you’re shooting for.

the best advice i can give is to just dive in and start, bc it gets a lot less intimidating once you’ve done a few, and it also gets easier the more you do it :3

also, i think trying to follow ppl who describe images helps a lot, because you will get more passive exposure to descriptions and what you think works/doesn’t, which can improve your own ID writing! on that note, highly recommend @princess-of-purple-prose/@pathos-logical (kay is a pillar of this and every community tbqh), @ryutarotakedown, @lucky-numberme, @fox-guardian, @squeeneyart, @hotdrinks, @samwise1548, and @rq-described (a breadth of interests represented here, but also if you’re asking me i presume you have at least a passing interest in audio drama and adjacent :3 )

hello!! here's a little brush tour ft. this half rendered martin.

also, a great app for ipad artists who really want to dig into texture is art set 4. i swear by it and i've been using it for about two years. none of my more recent art uses it, but that's just because i'm experimenting with my process rn

so here's a list of my most used brushes lately, and there will be links to all of them at the bottom of this post.

the two labeled "custom pencil" are both my own personal modified pencils (both sourced from the 6b pencil) but the narinder pencil and the vanilla 6b pencil are both very similar to them. i use these two for sketching and flat color specifically, and if you do specifically want these two brushes then i'd be happy to upload them somewhere for you to download, but they're not really necessary for texture

i also use G&B halftone brushes sometimes! but i greatly prefer the RSCO sample pack, and i cannot find the link to the G&B brushes no matter how hard i google, and pretty much any halftone brush set will do the same job

and here's what they look like in practice!

(i like to set these halftones to color burn. color burn is my most used blending mode, even for shading)

and then i hit "copy all," paste, and duplicate it. so you should have two layers of just your entire canvas. then import a paper texture

i'm partial to the set i'll link down below, my favorite is #5. you should absolutely check out the rest of the free texture packs on their website if you're wanting to diversify your texture process btw, all of their stuff is fantastic.

to use that texture, your layers should look like this!

on the layer set to the linear burn, i also like to go into the adjustments menu and bump up the brightness until all of the colors are at similar values to what they were before. and the normal layer on top is just to control the intensity/opacity of the paper texture!

after all of that, sometimes i'll go in with brushes like MM rake follow, or more from COFE's weird pencils, on top of all of those layers for finishing touches.

definitely play around with it, try new free brushes all of the time (i heavily recommended subscribing to Manero. they have a lot of free stuff and it's all fantastic) and see what works for you <3

while i do not consider it entirely impossible to top chuuya, he will basically always top and i think a large part of it (looking into his psychology) has to do with the sheer amount of trust in another person it takes to allow them to take control of you in that way, especially in such a vulnerable state. even if chuuya could technically throw them off with his ability, he wouldn't be letting them top if he felt like he might do that anyway.

relating to soukoku, specifically with dazai, who can cancel chuuya's ability, i think the likelihood of dazai always topping chuuya isn't very high. (i know half the fandom believes otherwise, and you're not wrong for your own interpretation, this is just how i see it. i also think it would be way easier to top dazai, let me know if you want me to tell you why).

not to say that chuuya doesn't trust his partner, whoever they may be. keeping his guard up is just instinctual with how many times he's been stabbed in the back.

i think that as a top, he enjoys the power rush that comes from it, and he also likes knowing that he's doing a good job and taking care of you (he takes pride in providing for you, likes buying you gifts, wants you to know how loved and appreciated you are).

there's definitely a safe word established between the two of you (as there should be in every relationship) and i think that would help if you ever brought up the idea of him letting you top. (like actually top, not him being a power bottom while you ride him)

assuming that there's already a mutual sense of trust between the two of you to the point that chuuya would be comfortable sitting back and letting you drive things forward, the next trickiest thing to get over would be his pride.

Minjae is a big hand holder. He believes holding your hand is the best medicine he could ever get his hands on. He is a sucker for intertwining fingers and rubbing each others knuckles, it's so inoccent yet so intimate.

Seita isn't a hugely affectionate person, but every once in a while a cuddle couldn't hurt. He prefers it to be in the privacy of your bedroom, where he can rest his head on your chest and pull your arm around his waist without worrying about any teasing (he's babygirl). Trace his face or draw shapes on his back and he'll pass out immediately.

Hee loooooooves a good hug. He specifically prefers your arms around his waist rather his shoulders, he likes when you squeeze him. Two out of three hugs he buries his face as far as he possibly can in your neck and just sniffs. He says you smell like pancakes.

Tk is also a cuddler. But more of like..... a casual kind of cuddler. Throwing his arm around your shoulder, hugging you from behind, laying on your tummy, etc. He never sits down and asks to cuddle he just kind of... does whatever he thinks feels right.

Minjun is another cuddler, except he wants you to absolutely suffocate him to death. Lay directly on top of him, put your arms around his shoulders and he will fall asleep right there and then. He treats you like you're his personal weighted blanket and will ask you to cuddle every single time he wants to lay down and take a nap.

Jo isn't huge on affection and the most he'll regularly tolerate is probably just a hug honestly. Sometimes, though, he does feel a little extra affectionate, and he'll come ask you to cuddle with him and watch a show together. Very shyly may I add.

Hello! Do you have any advice with painting? Every time I start I end up just doing lineart with colours underneath, and when I do kindles art it looks kind of like plastic. Am I supposed to merge the two layers and then start shading? What would you recommend?

Hey anon!! I actually do have some advice for that!! I'll shove it under a cut because it got way longer than I thought it would, sorry for the infodump everyone _(:3 」∠)_

quick tl;dr: painting process should consider both personal taste & the desired aesthetic of a painting, & to avoid plastic-y colours, make sure your hues vary within your values (and layer modes are ur friend) ♥

there's a million ways to start paintings & its all down to personal preference -- the end goal for the illustration can often influence the approach you take; a crisp digital painting might call for meticulous layering & sharp edged flats, but if you want something to look like an oil painting, you should try and mimic that process as close as you can! here's some examples:

this is the sketch for my FYR zine piece from last year; i intentionally approached it in a way that looks like traditional underpaintings so that when I worked directly on top, those orange tones would peek through like this:

after doing that undersketch, i manually painted everything -- no fancy layer modes, just me, one layer, and screaming ಥ_ಥ it was hard but it worked for the vibe i wanted!!

now v.s something like this:

simple shapes, roughly blocked in shading that just gets merged and painted over, as well as lots of layer modes on top for those colour changes! this is by far the easier one & the one i'd probably recommend, solely because it lets you keep more control. i go more in depth here on that -- but to quickly answer, i personally block everything (including shading) in before I merge & render!

for the other thing you mentioned, a lot of the times that 'plastic' feeling can come from either a lack of transitional shades or only using white/black for your value tones. this tweet thread (direct image links 1, 2 & 3) by frozensoba demonstrates it incredibly well -- by adding certain colour shifts in your values, it can create extra depth which is what makes stuff look more alive!! don't be afraid to really push it and get wacky

an easy way to add it while you're learning is using gradient maps to add richness in your midtones. It's not perfect since different surfaces & materials diffuse light differently, but adding one at the end of a drawing can help tie everything together. If you can do both at once though it always looks best; here's some very quick 2 minute orbs as an example:

ok I'm almost done (and im so sorry for how long this got... special interest moment TM) -- one last thing is to try varying your brush strokes & adding textures if you want. using only an airbrush or heavily relying on blurring brushes can make things look plastic too; sometimes you want that, but for the times you don't, adding some texture & leaving brush marks in can do a lot!!

lastly, since this is just me rambling, here are some artists that are incredibly talented & i highly recommend looking at for their advice & processes because it will be much more coherent than this:

Marco Bucci -- amazing educational content. if you check out any of these artists, he's the one to look at first imo. his 10 minutes to better painting series is a great place to start

Sinix Design has some amazing tutorials on anatomy & the mechanics of painting! This video & the intermediate part 2 are super

OKAY SO. shading, thing i am apparently accidentally really good at. it’s probably the thing i’ve gotten compliments on the most over the years which is funny because it’s probably the thing i’m Least confident that i can do well. therefore i can’t really give a tutorial but i can give a bunch of disjointed notes

(shown above is my Default Shading, further examples of different lighting below)

everything else under the cut or this is gonna be a mile long

i like using blue for shading, yellow/orange for lighting but generally you can just make them opposite/complimentary colours to each other and that’ll work. cool shadows, warm light or warm shadows, cool light. you get it. that’s a general rule there’s probably exceptions. i will say i hate using purple for shadows but that’s a personal preference (as is every colour i use being so saturated lol)

the orange around the edges is supposed to be subsurface scattering on skin but i put it on all the edges because i like how it looks 👍

yes there’s two different bounce lights. idk why i do this. i also just think it looks nice. i guess the one on the shading layer is more for form and the one on the lighting layer is more for the yk. lighting? anyways the first one is just a lighter version of the shading colour the second one is darker and slightly hue shifted (depending on the lighting scenario — it can be brighter if the situation calls for it)

the reason i don’t just shade around the edges is because it can make things look very flat which is the opposite of what you want when shading. sometimes it can just go on the edges in some specific scenarios but i like my shadows Chunky. basically having it go over the form instead of just along it can help show that form more

top left - night time | top right - bisexual? | bottom left - spotlight i guess? | bottom right - default/daylight again, just wanted to show a shape example

something i’ll also do a lot is have a separate multiply layer that’s just one colour and i’ll throw that over the whole thing to get the base colours correct for the lighting scenario. some people do it by eye but i am lazy so i cheat 👍 often it’ll be the same as the more detailed shadow colour but as with the top right example sometimes it’s different

shadows are either on multiply or linear burn, lights are either on add (glow) or glow dodge. depends on what looks best. same with opacity, i don’t have any real rules there

i also LOVE harsh lighting but that’s just a me thing. UMMM i can’t think of anything else to say

so next is ANATOMY okay this is also something i’m not super confident with lol but i can give some more disjointed notes by just redlining my own sketches lol

the uuuh “bottom of boobs is 2/3 down the ribs” isn’t technically correct? if ur drawing someone with big boobs and no bra on they’re probably gonna go lower but that’s kinda. where they come out from i guess. i also don’t think the “ribs” i draw are technically accurate but it works for a reference point

arms are a diamond (the shoulder.. muscle.. thing… idk what it’s called) and then some Tapered Tubes idk they’re not super complicated. if you wanna get more into it go google buff people and trace/redline their arms that’s how i learnt orz and uuuh i kinda also have the taking up 2/3 of the ribs but a bit Above. the way i’ve worded that makes no goddamn sense i’m bad at explaining this

ANYWAYS yeah bodies are just shapes if you want ppl to look unique just squash or stretch out the shapes 👍 and also learn actual anatomy stuff that always helps. my final message: learn to draw fat people it is no more difficult than drawing thin people

this is something i do on Most drawings to the point i have an auto action set up for it. duplicate the entire drawing (on csp the easiest way is to just merge visible to new layer), gaussian blur to like ? idk i think it’s 40% or something? i don’t remember, set that layer to soft light and lower the opacity

Diehard fans surely got the joke: Star Wars brainrot, and that goes for every conceivable piece of the fandom, even the bits you might not agree with - I don't discriminate. My all-time favorites are: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Bode Akuna. Yes, just the two, because I also have a huge pile of characters I love, but don't really focus on: Padmé, Ahsoka, Ventress, Plo Koon, Kit Fisto, Din Djarin, lil Grogu, Cody, infinite number of other Clones, ... soooo many. My top two are just the guys I actually write about. Bode is getting his fic right now, Obi-Wan's is on hold.

As the name suggests, this is my Cyberpunk 2077 blog. I used to do a lot of virtual photography in that one - and yes, this time I mean real VP, though still no paid tools, just vanilla and free mods. I love Goro Takemura and ship my fem V with him heavily - wrote a dope fanfiction about them, too. I reblog other cp77 vp (especially of Goro) and fanart. I don't currently play the game or shoot photos, but I have a large collection I plan to drizzle over the next few months, until I maybe decide to go back to cp77 for a while again and finally play Phantom Liberty that's been waiting for me for a long time now xD.

Bits of trivia: I'm Czech, cis woman (bi & poly and, frankly, hyper), 32, in a relationship, mom to a 5yo boy, a writer struggling to finish and publish her first original novel, drowning her sorrows in fanfic instead :). I got to most of my fandoms quite late in life, because where I live this info only started to properly flow in with the coming of the internet. I'm usually a casual fan, though when I hit a gold vein I can get a bit obsessed. I love writing fanfiction, which is mostly why I'm here on this site. I self-insert a lot (therapy writing) and usually ship us, with the rare occasion of finding a couple where I can identify with one of them (or mold them to my image because I like or even fancy them). I've spent my life believing I was hetero and discovered I'm not only once I (finally) was in a hetero relationship and had a kid, so... my ships are also hetero. It's a habit, not hating, I don't discredit any gay ships (maybe quietly to myself when they don't make any sense to me character-wise, lol). My AO3 account: XindiChick I usually try to write even the most niche of my ships in a way that doesn't require much knowledge of the original, so you're welcome to browse and read to your heart's content if you happen to like my style. I welcome any interactions, especially comments, because I don't get many.

i'm a writer! i have a creative writing degree, a handful of poetry publications, and one selfpublished fictional novella about a young trans girl beginning her transition (it was my first book and i wasn't quite sure what i was doing, so you can only see it if you ask really, really nicely), however i do have two physical poetry books that i wrote and created myself, called incoherence and resilience! incoherence is an honest look into an often unspoken form that ocd can take in a person's mind, and resilience is a handful of poems showcasing the beauty of the queer community. more information about them down the post, or click the links for more info!

RENDERING TUTORIAL? PLEASE?

Sure! Although idk if the steps will make sense 😭

Draw a sketch and give a main bg color, the skin will be influenced by the bg. Take the skin tone of ur character and overlay ur bg color or lower to opacity of the skin layer by like 10%(or whatever looks good tbh)

Use a soft brush to add the reds and blue undertones to the face. Blue near the chin and neck red near the eyes, nose, lips, cheeks, and ears. I like making my charecters very flushed but that’s just personal preference. For lighter skinned characters the red will lean more towards light pink while darker skinned chars will look more natural with a deep red purple.

Add ur lighting! Follow the shape/curve of the face. If it’s light exposure then flush out all the details in the light bits, If it’s shadow exposure make the dark parts undetailed

Add a saturated color around ur light source (pink in this case). Add more in in thinner parts of the skin to show the light coming though. Color ur lineart and fill in the eyes. (If ur going for the look of my usual art render over the lineart and redo it neater on top)

Hair, highlights, details, and liquify fixes! And it’s done :) (I FORGOT TO ADD HIGHLIGHTS TO THE EYES SRY😭)

I use a custom edited brush on ibis paint X, but it’s very similar to “dip pen fade” for all my rendering!

Sorry if it was a bit rambly or unclear, I tried to explain my shitshow of a process the best I could 😭

voice claim: alisha weir (matilda 2022) a small child who goes out on various misadventures and travels around with whatever means she can. she's polite and respectful, and often too trusting for her own good. has made various friends through her travels and feels awful bad about leaving, but she can't stay long!! there's so much to do!!

tiny thing in an oversized trenchcoat and a nightgown and rainboots, and the only thing on her back is the backpack her mother left her. it manages to fit quite a lot for a small bag?

her mother vanished and all she left behind was a map, so elenor is on a quest to follow the map and see where it leads

-natural born magic users are rare and most people in this world use magic via a tool or amulet. elenor and her mom are natural magic users -elenor's mom went missing and all she left behind was a map and her spacious bag. -elenor isn't particularly great at magic, she's nine. but she knows enough to do some small spells. the limited knowledge she has would force players to get creative (using a levitation spell to lift latched on loot boxes, tripping jinxes to run away from guards, small elementary things) -her full name is elenor ruby grace -loot boxes scattered around contain food to either heal or restore elenor's mana (which would be shown in a gem/meter near the top) -different towns have different minigames to earn money to spend at the shops (cosmetic changes like new a new coat or similar, or food) -not all npcs are friendly! be careful of people who seem suspicious, they will try to grab you and force you to fight your way out -different spells use different amounts of mana. small spells like magic bullets don't cost much and can be used in frequent succession. larger spells like causing a gust of wind uses more and there for players should be careful when using that (different spells are used by pressing different buttons on a gamepad or on the keyboard) -elenor's umbrella acts as a way for her to mask magic usage and not get caught -cosmetic changes are totally optional except for a mountain town you have to pass through. to get there you need to go through a portal, but due to dangerously low temps (and the fact you play as a child who's all alone) the person in charge of the portal will not let you go through without proper attire, aka a winter outfit you can get from them free of charge once you tell them ur ready)

different npcs:

- aunt victoria; a close family friend who runs an inn. due to a spell that was placed on the building you can run into her inn in any town for a quick rest. magical object is a broom. - mr nobank; one of 2 traveling salespeople you can meet. he sells all sorts of bits and bobs, usually for a high price but he's willing to trade as well. has no magical object - ms nobank; the other traveling salesperson you can meet. is nicer than her brother and is willing to give you one item from her cart if you do a small quest for her. magical object is a pen. - edith/edie grace; elenor's mother. a kind hearted woman who prefer to keep to herself in the old house outside of town with her daughter, she was a good person and great mother. one day she vanished with no word or warning, leaving behind only a never ending bag and a map to the capitol. used the umbrella to mask her magic usage.
