Tojoctober Day 3 - Safe
(I would defend my precious, I would reach to the top)
Alt title is from Reign
Yuta protects the orphanage from some wannabe looters.
(not really any spoilers, since the summary is the spoiler lol)
—----------
Cheer and laughter echo from the area of Morning Glory Orphanage, as the residents there enjoy a day off from their responsibilities. The boys, led by Yuta Usami, are playing with Mame in the front area of the building. The girls sit on the porch, while baby Haruto practices walking between them. It's a peace often seen in this place, this sanctuary from the horrors of their world.
That is, until Mame runs away from the group of boys, into the middle of the road, and starts barking.
"What is it, boy?" Koji runs up to where Mame is still barking, and sees a group of thugs walking up the path, incredibly close to the building.
"Oh.. crap, crap, crap!" Koji scoops up Mame and sprints towards everyone. Yuta and Taichi run to meet him.
"What's going on, Koji-kun?"
Koji stops, places Mame down, and pants heavily, speaking between breaths.
"People… a lot of them… they look like bad news!"
Yuta's face hardens. "I'll figure out what's going on. Koji, get Mame," He looks over to the girls as Koji bends down and scoops Mame up again. "Haruka, keep Haruto close to you. Ayako, get everyone inside!"
The kids start scrambling, faces showing worry and confusion, as the older girls usher everyone inside.
"I'll stay with you, Yuta-san."
"I'll put Mame inside and get Mitsuo. He'll want to help you two. And I do too." Koji shouts as he runs off, dog in tow.
Yuta hesitates "Guys, you don't have to-"
"You don't have to defend the orphanage, yet here you are." Taichi retorts.
"I'm not trying to stop you." Yuta responds. He knows if he lets the kids get hurt at all, Kiryu would not let him rest once it was his time. "Just, promise me you'll fall back if you get hurt?"
Taichi nods grimly. "If it comes to that."
Koji and Mitsuo emerge from the building, and together, the boys walk into the middle of the front yard, assuming a defensive position.
The looters turn into the space, 6 muscular people wearing face masks.
"What are you trying to accomplish?" Yuta's voice booms, trying desperately to hide his fear. There were a lot more guys than he thought.
"What are we trying to accomplish?" The person in the front responds, their voice muffled slightly by their mask. "Ha! We have a gut feeling that there's something precious inside there, and we want it!"
"Yeah? And you think we'll hand it to you?" Taichi yells back.
"Judging by your attitude, this is going to get messy. Get them!"
The party of looters starts charging at the defensive line.
"We're protecting our home!" Yuta yells, followed by the shouts of the other guys, as they meet the looters charge.
A large fight commences, and while the looters have the number advantage, Yuta and the kids were heavily underestimated. Taichi wrestles one of the looters to the ground while Koji punches another in the diaphragm. Yuta comes up from behind, throws a haymaker into a looter, and picks Mitsuo up off the ground. As the fight continues to progress, the looters begin to gain an upper hand. Thankfully, the kids keep their promise to Yuta, and retreat into Morning Glory before receiving too much of a beating. Soon enough, Yuta is the last one standing, squaring off with the leader bandit. The looter slams a fist into Yuta's stomach, knocking the wind out of him. He goes to follow it up with a punch, and Yuta prepares to brace himself.
Yuta gasps instead, as the last opponent is hit with the hilt of a blade. He crumples to the ground, and behind him stands another, way more intimidating figure. This one, a man, is wearing an eyepatch with a snake adorned on it. His outfit of a snakeskin jacket and black leather everything would make Yuta raise an eyebrow, but right now, he's regaining his breath and scared shitless.
The man walks up to Yuta, sheaths his blade, and sizes him up. Even though he's only a few inches taller when Yuta stands upright again, it feels like Eyepatch Man is towering over the young one.
"Yer the one keepin’ em safe?" The man speaks in what Yuta registers to be a Kansai accent.
Yuta swallows. "Y-yes."
The man scoffs, his eye wandering the space around them. Yuta wants to see where he's looking, but he can't bring himself to move. He doesn't want to remember what it feels like to get stabbed. His brain runs wild, trying to think of something to do other than stand here.
The eyepatch man brings him back to his senses by grabbing his chin, tilting his head around, seemingly inspecting the younger man. Yuta winces a bit.
"Good head on yer shoulders. Definitely can handle yerself. You…"
The man trails off, distracted by something, Yuta can't fathom what. He hears the man clear his throat, and makes eye contact with Yuta, his gaze softening ever so slightly.
"Take care of her."
And with that, the man turns around, grabs the unconscious intruder by the arm, and drags him away.
Yuta glances around and now notices the rest of the looters are gone as well. Was that Eyepatch Man's doing?
"Yuta!" Yuta whirls around, and sees Haruka, near the front step of the entrance, her expression creased with worry.
"Haruka!" Yuta runs up to the entrance of the building, enveloping Haruka in an embrace. "Are you okay?"
Haruka makes a sound of agreement. “Everyone’s ok, Yuta.”
Yuta puts his head on Haruka’s shoulder and sighs. "It's OK. You're safe now. I promise."
He holds her for what feels like forever, and eventually, the other kids emerge from the building and join the hug.
On the front step of Morning Glory sits a mess of people clinging onto each other, some carefully making sure their bruises aren't touched, but they're locked in a moment of reprieve and newfound peace.

Why Sakurai Haruka makes So Much Sense, really.
Right, sorry it took so long, but I think this is it? Anyways. Here I'm just putting much of Haruka's behaviour in the context of "past of admissions to a psych ward", linking it all together in a way that may not be so immediately obvious to some. Interrogation answers: T1 Q.12 - Tell us your hobby - "Talking with the other prisoners" What else is there to do? Yuno answers with something about shopping, and drama club, something she can do outside of Milgram, but Haruka wants to talk, and he's getting better at it. It's something he's wanted to do for a while, talk to others, so he probably gets a good deal of enjoyment or satisfaction doing so. You could say it's a bit odd, to be a hobby, but it's an activity he knows he has consistent access to, unlike something like drawing which would require a request. Q.14 - What's an event that stuck in your memory? - "Fireworks" Fireworks, or some kind of crayon rendering of them, seem to feature prominently in Weakness. Something bright, colourful, loud, and pretty full sensory immersion, plus it seems to have been a fond memory of sorts. Besides, what else could stand out, as a childhood memory? Anything in recent years would just be... the dull droning on of the days. Q.20 - What's the most expensive thing you've ever bought? - "Candy floss" Okay. Candy floss isn't very expensive. What likely happened, is that he didn't handle money except for when he was once given some at a fair of sorts, and allowed to buy something for himself. As a teen, he's had no need to buy anything, and if there was something he wanted or needed to buy, then it'd be provided by whomever was looking after him at the time. (Not necessarily something about not trusting Haruka, but he wouldn't have had any way of getting a job, being in-and-out of mental health care) Now, something a little interesting would be that this, alongside some other small things, loosely implies that Haruka was a spoiled or otherwise coddled child from his birth, growing more distant from his family as he got older. Japanese children are given quite a lot of autonomy, just go watch "Hajimete no otsukai", or "Old enough", an entire television programme where kids go out and do errands. Most Japanese kids would have bought things like groceries, or train tickets, or whatever, even before leaving primary school. Sending them on the train alone at age 8 is common. It's unusual for the most expensive thing that Haruka ever bought to be candy floss, surely he'd have been asked to go out and buy something, at some point? If not, why not? Q.22 - What do you think of the prison outfits? - "They're kind of relaxing" Kind of already went over this. Haruka is accustomed to wearing the same kind of thing every day, and everyone else is also wearing something similar, so he's part of the group. Not distinct in clothes. It's probably a small comfort. Q.23 - Is there anything you want (item requests)? - "Not really" He's got everything, for the most part. In a psych ward, you're unlikely to get anything just by asking, and whatever you can bring onto the ward is restricted. Of course Haruka's got lots of crayon drawing in Weakness. Crayons are pretty much the safe art medium. Cheap, easily replaced, logistically an obvious choice to use. What else could he have used? Pencils? Those would require a pencil sharpener, and that's a weapon. Q.24 - What's your dream for the future? - "I want to live normally" ...It's not normal to spend so much time on a psych ward. It's a restrictive lifestyle, even if it's his comfort zone. This is pretty much the obvious thing to wish for, to live a "normal" life where he's not just a patient, someone who's "broken". Besides, Haruka can't afford high standards like Yuno's "It'd be nice if I can find a job I can really lose myself in", because he doesn't have many avaliable job prospects at the moment. He's set back in education by at least 3 years. Q.25 - When you get out of here, where do you want to go? - "I can't think of anywhere"
Based on what can be guessed about Haruka's story, home is an unlikely prospect. And he's not had much opportunity to think about or find a place to go, unlike Yuno's answer of "Karaoke, maybe", something she's done in the past and enjoys. There are either no places that stand out to him, or too many places he's not had the chance to go to. ...auto-save isn't working anymore. I'm just going to say that this is long enough and continue another day. Moving onto T2 int. questions, then onto his voice lines, his profile, his VDs, probably even more of the MVs as a part of all that... is this even a theory? The next time I say I'm going to post something "small", I'm probably lying to myself.

Muu - 🪢 A headcanon about their family
Haruka - 🍫 A headcanon about food
Fuuta -💤 A headcanon about their sleep
Mahiru - 💝 A headcanon about their love language
Mikoto - 🥇 A headcanon about what they’re best at
Kotoko - 😺 An animal related headcanon
Oh, thank you for the ask!
Muu - 🪢 A headcanon about their family
We've been told that Mu's dad is a landlord who exports furniture, and her mom is a model. A part of me thinks it's funny to headcanon Mu's dad ae Mikoto's landlord for the bit. Yet another part of me is like those Teo jobs are heavily relayed to fraud, money laundering, and sometimes the illegal exportation or importation of goods. Not saying all people who have these careers do this, of course it's just something that came to mind, especially given the way Mu brags in It's Not My Fault.
Implying that a cover up of some sort has taken place. I headcanon that her dad and mom actually know what happened that day, which is why Mu has so much internalized guilt about it. Along with feeling useless or recognizing how much she was not needed and how things would be better if she just wasn't there. Not because her social group turned on her alone but because her parents may have made helping her in this situation seem like an inconvenience as well. Given that completely isolated feeling, we see illustrated in after pain. Because she relied on both groups to get something she wasn't getting from the other.
The board at the end also says something regarding her only benefitting off her parents. It's a bit of a sad hesdcanon, but I think about it a lot when we're mulling over Mu's case, especially given her praise seeking behavior that clearly comes out in response to being reprimanded.
She has this very I won't know if you're upset unless you tell me but if you tell me I won't really know how to fix it and I might think you hate me even if it's over something small.
I also think that she got the gift giving thing from her parents, particularly her mom. I imagine they may go shopping or out to restraints a lot. The dad isn't really present consistently, but they all spend time together, and he'd make time if asked. Yet, Mu probably doesn't ask because she doesn't want to bother him because he has a lot of very important business that's tough to handle, but he'll be here when he can.
Very normal family stuff is not as big as say Shinichi's parents just up and leaving in Detective Conan. Mu's parents clearly try to be present, but they very much just like Shinichi's case overestimating how independent and mature their kid is.
Haruka - 🍫 A headcanon about food
Since family came up; I think Haruka's mom could be why he has such a sweet tooth. Because she may have taken her kids to fairs or events a lot as children and gotten them sweets to snack on. Yet as Haruka grew older, it was something that his father may have found immature to continue. So, Haruka associates those sorts of foods with that better time and enjoys them on a rather emotional and comfort food level.
I think he may have been around expensive food to though. Like I always imagine his family is a bit well off but not as much as Mu's and his parents were kind of stickers for teaching their kids how to behave in public especially when it comes to eatting. So like his dad might have been that sort of you hold the fork this way type and you can't let him eat sweets all the time. Like we see him indulge in Milgram but his mom and dad in this scenario were maybe like this is a rare once in a while treat to only be had here.
So, I like to imagine Milgram gave him a bit more freedom when it came to deciding what he eats. However he Aldo likes when people care enough to go that's not healthy or i brought you some food like Mu does because if he was left to his own devices he knows he'd simply forget other food existed because sweets are that good. So, the things most would find overbearing about Mu or Mahiru, he would actually wind up seeing/feeling their behavior, is very helpful.
Fuuta -💤 A headcanon about their sleep
Oh, pre-milgram Futa was the type to game all night and sporadically sleep through the day. However, before college, he had a pretty proper sleeping schedule. He just got a bit indulgent after college started simply because he wasn't really interested in what college or adulthood really had to offer, so he took the why bother approach. He wants to have fun with people who like the same things he does, so of course, he might schedule his classes to be in the afternoon, sleep, or game most of the day, then ditch those classes. The teachers are stupid anyway waste of his school fees, really, but these others guys they get it.
In Milgram, though, I think his sleeping has been disrupted for a completely separate reason. As much as Futa blows up, he seems rather self-conscious and doesn't like being belittled. Unlike Mu, he's observant, but only of things he's neutral to. He can get blinded by his own opinion and speak without really recognizing how the other person is taking his words.
So, I like to think when he first got to Milgram he was too anxious about getting along with anyone here that sometimes he wouldn't be able to sleep and he'd walk around the panopticon at night similar to Amane going to get a warm glass of milk in that one minigram. Until he heard the noises from Mikoto's room and just started pacing around the eating area where the noise could barely be heard.
Then, when he got somewhat more comfortable, he could sleep without trouble until his verdict, which just kicked his general anxiety into super overdrive. Fucking up his sleep again.
Mahiru - 💝 A headcanon about their love language
Mahiru, for all her love for love, is to me only shown to love one love language above all else. Acts of Service.
She loves to receive acts of service, and she tries her best to mirror that for her partner. Lamenting about not being able to do it right because it's simply not the way she's best at expressing love. The love language she shows herself to be best at through her song and time in milgram is quality time, but she views that as inferior or not good enough. She's very good at actively listening, paying attention to others, and involving herself in their interests. So, good at it she doesn't even really recognize she's good at it anymore. It's not an active thing she has to think of doing she just does it.
Yet she wants the grand gesture to be fed by someone given gifts and feel pampered. So, she rightfully thinks if I like this they will too and communication begins to get hampered. Because it's like oh I liked it when you were just involving yourself with me and showing interest in my hobbies these grand gestures aren't really necessary..
"Why can't I do this right no one ever likes my attempts is the food bad is that it? I can cook better...I swear."
So she keeps going bigger, but it's literally just like they just want to hang out with you. Not all this they just like hanging out with you, and that's enough. Yet she doesn't really feel it is because all the books say its meant to be like this, and I feel best when they do this for me. So, I must be the problem here. I must be doing it wrong, and that's why things aren't working out. I need to try harder.
Like all correct sentiments, but the conclusion is incorrect. Some people just want to have a mundane non extravagant time and sit at joke just in your company, but that's a bit hard to grasp.
Mikoto - 🥇 A headcanon about what they’re best at
Managerial observation skills. Dude was made to be either a team lead or work solo no in between. He can be polite but he seems like the sort to hate and I mean really hate watching someone do something in a way that he believes is wrong. Like he would rather be in a biking accident than have his name on a project he does not agree with fully. Yet, he'd be too polite to come out and say that. Plus, working well with others is necessary for the job he's in.
He can't just go off on everyone around him he needs to be cordial, especially if he was a subordinate.
Despite that, Mikoto is pretty present when it comes to recognizing the quirks and habits of others. He's also not too harsh when discussing those things and tries to work around people's individual habits. He's good at recognizing the potential and strengths of the people around them. Along with advising them on how they could improve, as seen with Haruka. So, he'd be very good at behind the scenes work, project management, and review. He has a lot of natural talent when it comes to revising the ideas of others and highlighting the strengths of an individual. He's just very bad at knowing and applying those skills to himself.
Kotoko - 😺 An animal related headcanon
Wolves wolves wolves, she really loves them. However, I think her love of wolves comes from the fact they're pack animals, and she always wanted to have a group of her own to belong to. Outside of them genuinely being cool and strong. We see the one, of course, but she runs with multiple and many eyes are shown in Harrow. It's a lot like how Futa was looking for that sense of community and comraderie through people. While cleverly highlighting how differently people respond to a mob of people vs. a pack of animals. A lot of the time, when it comes to people, most can agree that having a mob mentality isn't right, and one should recognize when they're going too far.
However, since Kotoko's is more related to animals than people, there's this naturalistic carnal visceral reaction to go these are animals if they see something bad they just attack it. So, they must have felt threatened. Animals don't have the same comprehension skills as people, so this reaction was more than likely valid. Comparing Kotoko to wolves gives this very real sense that even an animal would have intervened because what the other person did was just that bad.
I think Kotoko sees things in that very black and white way as well. Based on her answers in her first written interrogation and this is why she relates so heavily to wolves. However, even though she sees herself in that wolf mentality. I think she'd be prone to liking small animals or prey animals. Like ferrets, mice, hamsters, the littlest of the bunch. Cause along with her wolf mentality, she's very focused on protecting the weak. She thinks it's the duty of the strong to do so. The job of the wolves to protect the sheep. Making it very likely she would be a big fan of herding dogs as well.
I feel like she'd also have a tenuous relationship with hunting given the wolf pelt in Harrow.

Character Study--Avi
Tumblr media
Layer 1: The Outside
-Name: Avi Kaiba (Born Haruka Oda)
-Eye Color: Ice blue cybernetics--kiroshis
-Hair Style/Color: Black and styled back
-Height: 6'0, 183cm
-Clothing Style: Whether formal, work or casual Avi dresses nothing short of impeccably. He favors crisp, expensive fabrics and has an well-trained eye for luxury. Although a good deal of his wardrobe is black, practical particularly in regards to his work clothing, there is some color as well. He prefers darker jewel tones, a hint of deep purple, or navy, emerald and wine-red. He's not loud and in your face with his statements but classical and elegant, and sometimes understated. His working clothing consists of tactical gear, or suits, depending on the day and what's required of him. Days off are not an excuse to dress down, and even when not in suits, he wears well-fitting sweaters or button down shirts, and trousers. Summer brings lots of linen, and lighter-weight suits. When he's in the privacy of his own home it's silk robes and pants. Shopping is something he finds relaxing, and his wardrobe reflects that.
-Best Physical Feature: Avi loves his eyes--he had his 'ganic ones replaced after he was employed by Arasaka, one of the first things he bought with his money. Arasaka didn't pay for them, so they're one of the few things that couldn't be reclaimed, if he chose to leave them. He's confident about his appearance and has the arrogance to back it up. If he was given a moment to consider the question though, he'd probably say his hands. They're long and slender--delicate, piano player hands, even before he switched to his mantis blade cybernetics. He tried to keep them as close to the original shape as before, and if anything, there's even more emphasis on them now.
Layer 02: The Inside
-Fears: Avi fears losing control. He sees his life and the choices he makes as pieces on a chess-board, and each move to be deliberated. As such, things not going to plan are at best unpleasant. It's hard to hide the extensive nature of his cybernetics, and he does his best to conceal the toll they take, even without realizing the full extent of them. He fears becoming what Adam Smasher is for Arasaka, little free will left, and very much a tool of destruction, with no agency of his own. He fears not knowing where that line is, or if he's already crossed it and not even realized.
-Guilty Pleasures: One of Avi's guilty pleasures is people watching, observing others going about their daily life. He finds it fascinating to analyze them, but also wonders what they're going home to, or what their story is--sometimes writes stories for them in his head. Museums are as much about watching the people observe the art, as looking at the art itself, and he often is preoccupied by both in equal turn.
-Biggest Pet-peeves: Avi despises Militech, both on principal as part of it's biggest competitor and for more personal reasons. Part of it is just that he thinks he's better than them, but he also sees them as so much less subtle, and classless. It's personal snobbery on his part, Arasaka being equally brutal, and it isn't as if he's overly fond of his co-workers either. He's polite on the surface but it veils thinly-concealed distaste. This is particularly noticeable in his interactions with a particular cyberninja. He doesn't enjoy being reminded of his upbringing and has taken great pains to distance himself from it, even if it doesn't always work very work very well. Nor does he enjoy the presence of over-familiar strangers or having his time wasted. He keeps himself on a schedule and this comes with impatience for those less chronically-on time.
-Ambitions for the Future: Avi had assumed that he'd stay with Arasaka and attempt to climb his way through the company. He had no desire to lead it, but eventually find a position with a balance of personal freedom and a generous income. This changed after digging into their files, curiosity and an anonymous tip spurring him on, and the discovery of their experimentation on his cyberware, without his knowledge. A new ally made themselves known, and a much more enticing business prospect with it.
Layer 03: Thoughts
-First thought waking up: Morning is one of the few times Avi allows himself to relax, as much as he's capable of--he sets an alarm for a half-hour before he's supposed to be up, gives him time to ease into the day and collect his thoughts before attempting to do anything. Avi keeps his phone across the room so he's not tempted to look at emails or work from bed. When he's up it's business as usual but until then he's going to enjoy his expensive sheets a while longer.
-What they think about most: Avi's mind is task oriented, always looking ahead to the next goal, and planning his steps out, and then trying to make it more efficient. Before leaving Arasaka his mind was chiefly preoccupied by work, little focus on the moment and always moving to the next task. He's been making an effort to forcibly carve out time where he's not working, focusing on hobbies and relationship, and actually enjoying the fruits of their labor.
-What they think about right before bed: Avi struggles with sleeping, and nightmares almost as much as his brother. He finds it a challenge to turn his mind off, and usually makes an effort to work out, or read if it ends up being fruitless. If he can't wear out his mind, his body is the next best thing, and sleep comes more easily after.
-What they think their good quality is: If asked about his good qualities Avi would be quick to say his charisma, and ability to talk to people, and while he's not wrong, its not his only redeeming quality. He's incredibly determined, and possesses a great deal of self-motivation, and although he can take this too far at times (to his own detriment), it means he can be formidable when the situation suits it, and make a calculating, valuable ally. (His smile isn't bad either, on the rare occasion a genuine one surfaces.)
Layer 04: Either Or
-Single or group dates: Avi prefers single dates, he likes being able to focus on his partner and conversation with them, and enjoys the intimacy and depth of one-on-one interactions. Although he wouldn't outright refuse the idea of a group date, the invitation to one would come as a surprise. In the case of the latter, he'd prefer to dine with his partner and meet afterwards, for a drink or to see a show, in the case of something more social.
-To be loved or respected: Love is a concept that Avi refuses to acknowledge as useful, at least if asked outright. It makes people act unpredictably, and he sees himself as separate from it. The idea that people have affection for him is something he tries very much to avoid, and he's skilled at breaking attachments, for the most part. This being said, there's a couple that refuse to dissipate entirely, despite efforts otherwise. Although his answer would be respected, a small part of him wants to be loved as much as anyone else does.
-Beauty or Brains: Avi is entirely captivated by both. Beauty gets his attention but brains make him linger. One of the most attractive things to him, is someone who's competent, who can challenge him, and relishes in doing so, and not letting him have his way all the time. Intelligence pulls engagement from him, not merely putting on an act but something he truly enjoys, and he relishes learning, even if he's very good at acting like he knows everything, and can privately admit that he very much doesn't.
-Dogs or Cats: Neither, but he prefers cats of the two. Dogs are far too clingy for his liking, and at least cats are more self-sufficient. (The irony of his pejorative nickname not lost on him, 'Arasaka's guard-dog'). Hiro's cats both adore him, much to his displeasure and are seldom far from his presence, twining between his legs, or demanding to be carried.
Layer 05: Do They…
-Lie?: Often and skillfully. His work with Arasaka is based in part on his ability to lie, and get people to trust him, say things they don't intend to, and let their guard down. It's a challenge to catch him in one, but someone who knows him well enough would be able to see through it, or at least that there's something he's withholding--it doesn't quite reach his eyes. Strangers try not to look at them too long, unnerving in the way they look through you.
-Believe in themselves?: He would not be where he is without confidence in his abilities. He has an unflinching confidence in his ability to do his job and what's expected of him, and holds himself to lofty standards. And it's clear in the way he holds himself that he has no lack of confidence in his appearance, evident without him having to say anything. He does a very good job of covering up his lack of confidence in certain aspects, parts of himself he's not proud of, and shame he buries deeply.
-Believe in love?: Avi understands love as a concept, while being dismissive in how it applies to him in a personal manner. He puts a great deal of effort into repressing the part of him that craves it, or wants for affection, and hides it under a thick facade. If he was being entirely truthful, he'd describe himself as someone who isn't a worthy recipient of affection, too sharp, too closed-off, or not rewarding enough for the effort.
Layer 06: Have They...
-Been on stage?: No, although he's often in the public eye, and that's it's own sort of performance. He has no desire to perform a particular skill, and would prefer to watch someone else, greatly enjoys listening to music, or watching plays.
-Done drugs?: Yes, but not for recreational purposes. Avi is no stranger to the cocktail of drugs Arasaka uses to keep its employees at their most productive. He's on more than he realizes, a cocktail that stabilizes his moods, and make him sleep more deeply. Leaving Arasaka brings with it the awareness of how much he really was taking, and how closely he was toeing the line of cyberpsychosis.
-Changed who he was to fit in?: In the past, yes. Avi was not born into wealth, or luxury, and he's put an immense amount of effort into cutting ties with his past. He's erased almost every fragment of his past, changed his name and his cybernetics to fit into his surroundings more seamlessly. There is very little left of the scared boy on the docks, and only a single person alive who still remembers him.
Layer 07: What's their...
-Favorite Color: Deep jewel tones, wine red, emerald and sapphire. He loves blue, and white, even if he admits the latter isn't the most practical for his line of work.
-Favorite Animal: Avi finds snakes fascinating, even if he'd never want one. There's something beautiful in the way they move, and their scales, and sees something of a kinship there, both beautiful and deadly himself.
-Favorite Book: Avi is an avid reader, and regrets not having more time to read for his own enjoyment. When he can't sleep he'll turn to whatever is on his nightstand, and read until his eyelids are heavy, or until he's finished it. Fiction, or non-fiction, he enjoys them both. Guns, Germs and Steel held him captive, along with the later Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed. Lord of the Flies also held a fascination, almost as much for the symbolism as the story itself. There's something fascinating in seeing how a machine or a society works, and watching as it unravels itself.
“The world, that understandable and lawful world, was slipping away.”
-Favorite Game: Avi likes any sort of game that makes him think, particularly chess. He's not an expert but he enjoys the aspect of finding patterns, and the strategy behind it. He has a beautiful, antique board and pieces that he occasionally breaks out, and will play either with himself or his partner, and enjoys those moments more than he'd care to admit. He was also very fond of handheld puzzles when he was younger, puzzle cubes or interlocking rings--the frustration with them making him even more determined to solve them.
-Day their next birthday will be: August 18th (roughly--he's not certain of the exact date)
-How old they will be: 30
Layer 08: I…
-I Love: Observing, watching the world go by me--still discovering my place in it
-I Feel: Like I'm standing on a precipice, and I don't know what's waiting at the bottom.
-I Hide: My feelings, and my fears and how much they consume me
-I Miss: My brother, and the drive that game with keeping him safe, and the memories there, beauty even in the places it was challenging to find.
-I Wish: To find a place that isn't temporary, somewhere I can grow, a place where my loyalty will be worth something.

I'm not her part 2
As requested, here is part 2 for my fellow Haruka stans
You didn't know how long you'd been crying crumpled on the bottom of the staircase, but it had to have been a long time since you'd heard the receptionist's footsteps as she switched off the lights and left the apartment complex. She'd probably seen you, but she hadn't asked. You assumed she'd seen Haruka and Michiru go up the stairs together earlier and had put two and two together.
Haruka... just the thought of her name was enough to make the pain in your chest worse. It felt like you'd been impaled and left to bleed out.
"I might as well stay here. After all, where can I go ?" that was what you'd told yourself. Logically, you knew you couldn't lie there forever- someone was bound to kick you out sooner or later, but, tight now, you really couldn't summon the energy to care. Just as you felt another fit of sobs incoming, a hand tapped your shoulder, warm yet firm.
You'd recognise that touch anywhere- it had been the greatest source of pleasure in your life for years. You'd laughed, moaned and cried under that touch, but it was all over now. Unless...
You turned around, barely able to stile the hopeful feeling blossoming in your heart. Maybe Haruka had come to take you back. She'd realized what a terrible mistake she made and wanted to ask for a second chance. You played the scene in your head, picturing you two crying in each other's arms as you promised to never let each other go again. The hopeful smile on your face combined with the tear stains and red, puffy eyes must have looked incredibly jarring.
"Y/N," Haruka's voice snaps you out of your daydream. It still sounds so cold and detached. You meet her gaze and try with every fibre of your being to keep it together.
"I thought we'd agreed you'd leave. You know you can't stay here," she continued, looking displeased. You choked back sobs.
"I... this is my home too. It's been my home for years. I have nowhere else to go, and you know that," your voice broke as you spoke that last sentence. You'd never been one to beg, but, as you were discovering, people are quick to become beggars when they lose everything in one fell swoop.
Haruka may have been a cold, cheating bitch, but she wasn't a monster. You knew she wouldn't simply throw you in the streets to fend for yourself.
Right ?
You'd also believed Haruka would always be loyal to you, until you saw what happened earlier.
All of a sudden you were doubting everything. It was like you were in the presence of a completely different person.
Haruka stuck her hand in the pocket of her suit trousers and took out a credit card, which she handed to you.
"I'll put enough money on this thing for you to meet basic needs while you find a job and get back on your feet. You can look into cheap accommodation tomorrow. In the meantime, stay at Usagi's or something,"
You took the credit card, mumbling a "thank you,". The truth was that even though Usagi would probably be happy for you to stay with her, Mamoru and Chibi Usa, the vey idea of having to witness them being all happy and in love while your world was crumbling made the park bench look almost tempting. You made a mental list of all the people you could potentially ask. Rei would definitely have space. She also hated men and lived alone, so you would be free from having to look at the picture of what you'd just lost. It was true that she might be irritated by an unexpected guest late at night, but you were sure she'd understand, given the circumstances.
"I think I should-" almost as soon as you opened your mouth, you realised Haruka was gone. She moved like the wind, silent and stealthy. However, you didn't have the time to process this new little crack in your increasingly broken heart- if you intended on catching the last train to Juban, where Rei's shrine was located, you needed to be fast. Before you left the building, you took one last look behind you and said a silent goodbye. As soon as you were outside, you called a taxi, not wanting to linger alone with the crushing weight of your memories for much longer.
***
When you finally arrived in Juban, you were too exhausted to even cry. Half awake, you trudged your way to Rei's, almost colliding with some lamp posts on the way. It was then that you realised you hadn't bought any belongings from the Haruka's apartment, but you were too tired to panic about it. Your eyelids felt like they were made of lead as you knocked on the shrine's door. Rei answered surprisingly quickly. As soon as she saw you, the irritation on her face melted away.
"What the hell happened, Y/N ? You look like shit,"
You have her a little smile as you invited yourself in. Rei sighied, closing the door behind you and sitting down opposite you at the little round table in the living room.
"Haruka left me," as soon as you said those words, reality hit you again like a punch to the gut and broke you out of your exhausted trance. The tears started flowing freely again.
Rei put an arm around your shoulder and squeezed. Even though most people would have, she didn't ask for details, as though she could sense that you had neither the mental strength nor the energy to talk about it. Rei had never really been the type for physical affection, but she also definitely wasn't the type who could ignore a friend in need.
"Your story doesn't end with her. You will learn to live without her again, even if it feels impossible right now," she said, her voice clear and confident. You nodded even though you couldn't bring yourself to believe her.
"Can I stay here with you while I get back on my feet ? I could even lend a hand at the shrine," you tried to imitate her confident tone, but your voice just sounded weak and wispy.
"Of course. I'll prepare a spare room now. We'll think about the rest after you've slept. Have a bath in the meantime,"
Rei left the room and you headed to the bathroom. You couldn't bring yourself to have a bath- the very thought felt inexplicably draining- but you knew that Rei would get on your case if she found out, so you simply gave yourself a quick scrub and washed your face. When you were finished, you wrapped yourself up in a towel and headed to the guest room, where Rei had prepared a bed, clean pyjamas and a cup of tea. Next to the tea, she'd left a note. You read it.
"Call me if you really need something,"
You smiled faintly to yourself, the tears coming to your eyes for what felt like the millionth time today. You felt a wave of gratitude washing over you and dulling the pain as you thought about how lucky you were to have such good friends. Maybe Rei was right, and things really would work out in the end. With that spark of hope warming your chest, you gave in to your exhaustion and fell into a deep sleep.

Ayo not me making a milgram fanfic at 4 am
That One Place - MILGRAM (Music Videos)
Relationships: Kashiki Yuno & Kirisaki Shidou
Main Characters: Kashiki Yuno, Kirisaki Shidou, Es (MILGRAM)
Rating: Teen and up
Word Count: 1449
AO3 Link: Here
Summary: Kirisaki Shidou was an awful man. He knew this very well. He'd hurt many to save one and failed.
Kashiki Yuno was a liar. She acted one way for money, attention and the love she absolutely knew was probably fake. And she was very aware of it.
How could these two have anything to be friends with, especially after the second trial ended?
((MILGRAM Second Trial Timeframe))
Chapter 1 - Yuno's Truth
Tumblr media
『Kirisaki Shidou. With a total of 51.97% to 48.03%, we, Es, guard of MILGRAM, deem you Innocent for the First Trial.』
Hearing the 15-year-old guard call him - doctor who malpracticed and let hundreds, if not thousands, die for a selfish gain - innocent, admittedly, was very shocking. After all, during their first meeting, he asked for the death penalty. How could he be innocent?
Shidou sat in the area they made into the ❝Smoking Area❞, nearest the vent. If he had been joined by Kazui or Mikoto, two others who frequented the Smoking Area and dubbed their little trio as ❝The Smoking Club❞, he'd let them take the nearest seats. Thankfully, or unfortunately (he wasn't too sure), he was alone. Inhaling the smoke, he felt his throat burn in a way that strangely was comforting now. It had been since his... Well, it didn't matter.
He stared at the wall, not quite sure what else to do. Being called innocent, according to Es, was what allowed him to help Mahiru and Fūta after they were attacked by Kotoko. They became more restrained after being called guilty, something due to the program this MILGRAM prison ran. A terrifying idea, Shidou thought to himself.
Another drag of the cigarette.
He remembered Mikoto had also been deemed guilty by the system, though he seemed unaffected by the program. Perhaps there was a health issue? Or something else... Shidou began making ideas for what went wrong there, formulating possible plans to assist. His natural instinct.
Tumblr media
Yuno couldn't stand the sounds of the others. Too loud, too energetic, too... Too chummy. Even if it wasn't even friendly at all.
She'd gone on a walk of the allowed areas, being greeted with people or someone in each. A hassle, and she didn't particularly feel like putting her facade on. The three she especially avoided was Mahiru, Mu and Haruka. Mahiru seems obsessed with attention and love — quite boring. And the younger two?
Ugh, don't even get her started on them.
As she wandered around, she noticed Shidou sitting in a room - door open and smoking. A paradoxical thing, Yuno thought: a doctor who smoked so often. After all, doctors were practically the poster-people for good health, weren't they? Yet, here one was with little care in the world.
As she stared at them, she heard footsteps accompanied by a male and female chatting. Mu and her pet, Haruka.
"Ugh..." Yuno slipped into the Smoking Area, leaning on the larger wall left of the doorway. She stared into the hall, not daring to actually look and be seen, as she listened to them walk past and leave. A sigh of relief left the raven-haired girl as she looked up to see Shidou staring at her in confusion. Fucking hell-
"What?" Yuno started, standing up right and fixing her ponytail. "Their little love act is dull and obnoxious. Poor Haruka-chan will be hurt once she gets bored." She hadn't meant to snap, though she was aware she did a little. Yuno watched as Shidou put the cigarette out.
"Who am I to judge what you avoid? You have your reasons," he said in response, sitting up right. "You can sit, if you want. I don't think I'll be a good conversationalist, since you seem to want silence." Yuno played with her hair and sat down opposite Shidou.
"Everyone is so loud," she muttered. "It's stupid. We're all trapped with no clue what's going to happen. Why bother being loud or chummy?"
Shidou hummed in thought. "It might be their way of coping? Though, I'll admit, running or denying our situation isn't the best." Yuno watched him lean on his knees. "After all, the possibility of death being around the corner is very high. And who's to say we wouldn't be brought back in a few years for the same crimes that got us here now?"
Yuno frowned a little, a hand instinctively moving to hold her stomach. What she'd done was a crime in Japan. But what else was she supposed to do? "Some of us killed for survival. Some of us for fun," Yuno said in thought. "Hell, Mikoto-kun doesn't even think he murdered. Amane-chan... Well, she's a child. Who knows what happened to her?" The school-girl leaned on the wall. "And we're being judged by Es-kun, another child who has 0 memory."
Shidou closed his eyes in thought. "Yes, it is quite an issue." The doctor looked at Yuno. "It's nice to know someone else noticed a few odd things as well. Kayano-san is an odd case for sure. I believe he might have a personality disorder or a dissociation disorder - both of which would explain his behaviour. As for Momose-chan... It isn't unthinkable for her to have been raised to hate medical practice and all associated jobs and items. Though, if you're talking about her own personality shift, I'm just as clueless." Yuno looked at Shidou, who met her gaze. "Why do you think Sakuri-san will be left to fend for himself by Kusunoki-chan, Kashiki-chan?"
The raven-haired girl played with her hair again, though this time it was far less nervously. "Love is... Well, I think it's just something we say to keep people near. Not a real thing," she sighed. "After all, if love were real... We wouldn't have people cheating on their so-called partners. We wouldn't have people taking advantage of them." Once more, she put a hand to her stomach. "We wouldn't have to worry about not getting help from them..."
Tumblr media
Shidou noticed Yuno's hand return to her stomach. He'd seen her do it before the first trial started as well. "Pardon my forwardness, Kashiki-chan, but... Have you lost someone dear to you before?" Her expression muffled, becoming hard to read.
"I can't particularly say I have, no. Why?"
Shidou closed his eyes. "When someone you cared deeply for loses the battle to live in front of you... No matter how active you were in assisting them... Your heart physically hurts. You can practically feel it breaking." He sat back up. "And you are correct, love should be able to stop a lot of the issues and pain people feel when in romantic relationships. If you truly love someone, it should not fade if you see their true self, or they become sick or anything. After all..." He looked at Yuno. "Dying from a broken heart is an actual issue."
He watched as she once more put a hand over her stomach. "I thought that was a fairy tale..."
"I'm afraid that is one fairy tale that has truth," Shidou hummed sadly. "Though rare, it is possible to die from losing a loved one. If I remember correctly, the last study on it found it mostly affected married couples or elder folk." He gave a smile, hoping to reassure her. "You shouldn't have to worry about it, nor should Sakurai-san."
Yuno let out a thoughtful hum. "Still... Unless its for some sort of bedroom thing, shouldn't the couple be equal? I mean... If you really love someone, wouldn't you want them to be on the same level as you?"
Shidou once more closed his eyes. "If you genuinely love someone... I would say yes. After all, you should want the best for your partner," he said, noticing her look at her stomach. "...or family." Her face told him what he needed to know. "My apologies for you going through such a struggle, Kashiki-chan. I may not find the topic to align with my morals, however I am aware it is necessary for some."
He watched Yuno tense, then quickly get up and shut the door. "How did you know?"
He sighed. "Your face when I brought up family." Shidou offered her a closer seat. "Besides, you're young and still in high school, yet you seem to hold yourself to a far more mature standard than the others. It's strange in a way that makes sense for me." He watched the younger female shuffle over and sit.
"Three times... They each said they loved me, and all three times was a lie." Yuno muttered. Shidou frowned a little, but didn't push.
"No one should go through that," the doctor said. "Not even once."
Yuno opened her mouth to speak when the announcement system went off with Es' voice.
『Kashiki Yuno, please report to the Interrogation Room.』
"...Can we speak again sometime, Kirisaki-san?" Yuno asked, standing up.
Shidou smiled. "You can always ask me when we're allowed to wander. I'm not hard to find currently." The doctor gave her a warm smile, which she halfheartedly returned before she ran off for her first interrogation. And something told him she'd be back soon...

Putting on Hairs: Nightmare Consuming Pillow v1.02
Primary Pairing: AiRina Also Starring: Setsuna Implied Ship: YuuAyuSetsu Rating: G Words: 590 AU: Theater, Monsters, Cryptids, Eldritch Creatures Fandom: Love Live Nijigasaki Parent Fic: Putting on Hairs - Post Production Time Frame: Sometime during the main story Event: Promptober 2022 Event Source: Idol Fanfic Heaven channel on Discord Prompt: Brilliance
---------
Author’s Note: Primary entry for Oct 22nd
Summary: Ai and Rina have something to give Setsuna
---------
“And now, Ai-san has the distinct pleasure to reveal another example of Rinari’s brilliance!” Ai announced proudly.
“Ai-san, it was a collaborative effort.” Rina reminded.
Ai pursed her lips. “Ai know that, but it was still Rinari’s idea and design.”
“It was Ai-san’s idea.”
“And Rinari did most of the work.”
“…” Rina seemed to concede that point.
Setsuna couldn’t help giggling a little at the display between her friends.
“Anyway, where was Ai? Oh, right. Here it is, the new, improved, jiangshi and fallen angel tested, somnophore approved, Nightmare Consuming Pillow!” Ai held up what looked like an ordinary pillow. “Guaranteed to devour all dreadful dreams within a decameter or your money back!”
“It actually stores nightmares.” Rina corrected. “Kanata-san and Haruka-chan will be doing the consuming.”
“Yeah, but it sounds cooler to say the pillow does it.” Ai insisted.
“I’m sorry, Rina-san,” Setsuna spoke up, “but I must agree with Ai-san. The idea of a somnophage pillow is indeed quite exciting. I can’t wait to try it!” She accepted the pillow and hugged it, not entirely sure if she should be happy or mildly disappointed that it felt like a normal pillow as well.
Then again, she realized that if it felt too different from a normal pillow, it probably would be that much more difficult to acclimate to it.
“Anyway, I truly cannot thank you enough, Rina-san.” Setsuna continued. “I have tried so many things to improve my sleep over the years. But it often feels like Azathoth himself has forbidden me a full night’s slumber, shedding his own chaotic dreams to bequeath upon me as punishment for having the audacity to seek such things in the first place. Staying at Yuu-san and Ayumu-san’s place has helped these last few months, but…” She trailed off.
“Well, do let Rinari and Ai-san know if this improves your sleep.” Ai indicated the pillow.
“Despite Ai-san’s claims, I am still in the testing phase.” Rina spoke. “This is merely version 1.02. Kotori-san and Yohane-chan can adjust the fill blend of their feathers or the thread count of Kanata-san’s wool for the shell to suit your comfort needs. Also, depending on the severity and frequency of the nightmares, I may need to adjust the number or gauge of the conduction threads.”
“Rinari made those from my hair.” Ai flipped lock between her fingers to make her point.
“Indeed.” Rina agreed. “I have found doppelganger hair to be exceptionally versatile.”
“Anyway, you’ll also need this.” Ai held out what looked like a flash drive. “This is what stores your nightmares, so you’ll need to keep it near when you sleep, like on your nightstand or something. You can press this to see its capacity.” She clicked a button to demonstrate. “When it’s full, bring it back and Rinari can exchange it for another and give this to Kanata to empty at her leisure.”
Setsuna nodded and accepted the device.
“Oh, and while the pillow is machine washable, Nozomi’s cleansing enchantment should be able to handle normal use.” Ai explained. “Any other questions.”
“Yes. Are you sure I do not owe you, or anyone else who helped make this, anything?”
Ai smiled. “Setsu’s powering the theater and Rinari’s and Ai-san’s apartment. Ai’d say we still owe you.” She reminded the Cthughan of the generators being run off her living flame.
“Alright.” Setsuna agreed, still wishing she could do more. “Thank you again.” She bowed slightly before turning to leave Rina’s workshop.
“Sleep tight!” Ai called after her. “Don’t let the Shaggai bugs bite!”
---------
Author’s Note Continued: Another callback to last year’s Promptober, as well as an idea brought up in the YohaRiko intro chapter of PoH proper. I’ve been fond of the idea of the monsters of the Sonoda Kurosawa Theater using their abilities and whatnot to band together and help each other since very early in my development of this AU. And while I initially just thought about a pillow that helped some restless sleepers sleep, I realized I had made Kanata - and thus Haruka by extension - a sleep paralysis demon/somnophore/somnophage, so why not make something instead that sought to remove just bad dreams from a sleeper and give them to the Konoe’s for sustenance?

Double Honeymoon
Part 1
The plane finally lands in Greece, they get off the plane and collect their luggage. Right after, it's time for some greece adventure! But someone needs the toilet...
Haruka: Hey, uhm... I need to go to the toilet.... like right now-
Ichigo: Right now?
Haruka: Yeah... I'll be fast-
Ichigo: I'll go with you then!!
The two girls run to the toilet leaving the boys with the luggage. Beel and Simeon blinks in shook but oh well, let them use the toilet.
Beel: Drinks- :o
Simeon: Beel-
Beel: Please?
Simeon: [sigh] Okay, let's go
The two boys buy some drinks. Beel get honey green tea and Simeon gets a bottle of white coffee. Yes, it is a vending machine.
Simeon: So uh... how do we pay?
Beel: ;-; I don't know either....
Ichigo and Haruka just get out of the toilet and their lovers are gone! The airport is so big and they're probably far far away!
Haruka: .... where did they go....?
Ichigo: ... Let's just call them
Haruka: Good idea...
Haruka calls Simeon and turns out Simeon is at the vending machine, he even ask them to get to the vending machine and help them pay for the drinks.
Ichigo: Oh my goodness...
Beel: Hehe...
Simeon: We're not that good with this...
Haruka: Oh you have to insert the money first! Then you choose the drinks-
Simeon: Oooh that's why the drinks didn't come out!
Beel: Yeah! :o
Haruka: Come on, give me the money. I'll help you guys
Simeon: no, no it's fine. Just guide us through it
Haruka: Babe, the money?? -_-"
Simeon: Okay... [gives her the money]
Haruka: Beel? Your money?
Beel: [gives Haruka the money]
Haruka finally helps them with the vending machine by inserting the money and let them pick their drinks. After a few seconds, the drinks finally drops to the ground so they could take it.
Haruka: Here's for Beel, here's for Simeon....
Simeon: Thank you^^
Beel: Thanks a bunch, Haruka :D
Ichigo: Move over, I'll buy something too =3= [casually buys milk tea]
Haruka: Hey, hey, there's Taro milk! Get that too!
Ichigo: Okay... [gets her the taro milk] Here you go
Haruka: Yay! Let's go now!
The four of them walk out of the airport and now it's time to get to their hotel, Seaside by Manos. Once they got there they've already booked it so all they have to do is just tell the receptionist their name and proof of reservation. With that they can get to their room.
The room is a two story room with two bedrooms. Basically, they book the most fancy one in that hotel because it's a honeymoon, so of course they go all out for it!
Haruka: Aight now let's just go travel! First destination is..... White Tower of Thessaloniki!
Simeon: It has a museum there as well right?
Haruka: Mmhmm
Beel: [whispers to Ichigo] She took the wrong person
Ichigo: [whispers back] Yeah... should've asked Satan to come... he loves museums
Beel: [nods]
Ichigo: We can always find a food court nearby-
Beel: Yeah, but I'm curious too actually
Ichigo: Perhaps there's food history there
Beel: Oh now that's interesting-
Simeon: [sweat drops because why are they whispering] What are you two talking about^^
Ichigo and Beel: Nothing!
Haruka: Sure-
Anyways, the four of them go their first destination. They also have a guide to help them with the greece history, they took pictures too, with permission of course. Unfortunately Haruka accidentally connect her go-pro to her devilgram account, causing her to go live as they go through the tour.
Haruka: Here, hold this- [gives it to Beel]
Beel: ?? What's this??
Haruka: A go-pro, a camera to record stuff around
Beel: Oooh okay! :D
Meanwhile in devildom, Asmo suddenly runs out of his room because he sees a live instagram connected from Haruka's go-pro.
Asmo: Guys! Guys! Guuuuuuysss!!
Satan: [looks up from his book] What? -_-
Asmo: Here look! [shows his phone to Satan]
Satan: Ah, they're on a trip-
Mammon: Seems fun :((
Levi: If it's Japan then I'll be excited [rolls his eyes]
Lucifer: [sigh] Let them be.... ^^
Asmo: Ooh! They took Ichigo and Beel as well-
Satan: [watches the video] ....
Asmo: What?
Satan: [sees Simeon and Haruka being too lovey dovey for their own good] ...ugh....
Asmo: Aww they're so cute!! What a sweet honeymoon!
Belphie: [sees Beel and Ichigo] ... Get that thing away from me.
Asmo: :(( what?
Belphie: [pushes the phone away from him] shoo-
Asmo: Fine [rolls his eyes]
Mammon: Let's just watch it together, this is fun!
Asmo: It is!!
At the end Mammon and Asmo both watch the live video. Lucifer sigh and returns to this room because that's none of his business. So back to Greece. They're now ordering food for their lunch and oh boi thing just went wrong there.
Ichigo: Hon, explain yourself-
Beel: Uh...
Simeon: Bread? Really?
Beel: Idk it looks good... ;-;
Haruka: Isn't that supposed to be breakfast?
Beel: On the bright side it's a sandwich-
Ichigo: Simeon, take off that bracelet-
Simeon: [takes off Beel's bracelet] There you go-
Beel: [blinks in back to demon mode] Hmmm I'll go with this- and this and-
Ichigo: Hold your horses! Calm down-
Beel: Ah... uh.... can you help me? [cue puppy dog eyes]
Ichigo: Hmmm [reads the menu] maybe this one? It looks good, it's enough for you as well^^
Beel: Deal!
Simeon: ... [sigh] my patience is thinning down everyday-
Haruka: There there... [pats Simeon's shoulder]
Haruka finally enters the telepathic chatroom again.
Haruka: You have so much patience for him... wow
Ichigo: Well... either way he's a demon so what else can I do :")
Haruka: Ah true... imagine how much stress I'm in being with that raging ball of chaos-
Ichigo: Exactly! Well on the bright side, Beel is kind so- :"D
Haruka: Yeah, fair enough
Outside of that telepathic chatroom Simeon and Beel notice the two are stuck with their menu. They curiously peek over the menu.
Simeon and Beel: ????
Simeon: Another telepathic chatroom?
Beel: I guess so...
Simeon: Oh well, let's browse through the drinks instead
Beel: Good idea-
The boys browse through the drinks as the girls proceed with their telepathic chatroom. They do take some time with their telepathic talk.
Now let's go back to House of Lamentation, Asmo really thinks they're there for one day or two but turns out....
Belphie: They're staying for five days-
Asmo: w h a t?!?!
Belphie: What?
Asmo: Why so long for a honeymoon?
Belphie: Because they want to travel, that's a new country for them
Asmo: I thought honeymoon is just the consummation process-
Lucifer: ....Asmo where did you get that idea?
Asmo: Most married couples? o-o
Mammon: You for real?
Asmo: Somehow-
Anyways, back at the museum, they decide to separate themselves since it's a honeymoon/date for them. Let's look at what happened to the main couple first, shall we?
Simeon and Haruka are now discussing which level they should go to. Simeon wants to go to the history level, but Haruka wants to go to the music level.
Simeon: [looks at the directory] Hmmmmm
Haruka: Ooh! There's a music level! Let's go there!! [pulling his hand to the lift]
Simeon: But- [gets pulled anyway, F for Simeon]
Haruka: Come on, let's go!
Simeon: Okay, okay, let's go....^^
Haruka excitedly presses the lift button to level three. Simeon personally prefers the history section but music is fine, at least he can enjoy a bit of music. It wouldn't be good to argue during a honeymoon anyway.
Once the lift opens Haruka gapes at the view because there are so many musical instruments and she can hear the beautiful classical music from the background.
Haruka: Whoa! Let's go!!
Simeon: [follows Haruka anyway] You seem to be really excited^^
Haruka: Of course! This is my favorite part! They're so pretty!
Simeon: [smiles fondly] Enjoy yourself^^
Haruka is literally running around the museum. Okay, now he's concerned...
Simeon: Haruka! Be careful! You might slip!
Haruka: I'll be fine!!
Simeon: Slow down!! [chasing her]
Haruka: I'm fi- [trips anyway]
Simeon: [sigh] I told you :")
Haruka: ouch...geez.... so clumsy of me... [checks her knee for any injuries]
Simeon: [approaches her worriedly] Are you okay? [offers his hand to help her]
Haruka: Yeah, yeah, I'm good... [accepts his hand] Can't believe I tripped over-air-
Simeon: I told you, the floor is slippery:")
Haruka: Did they mop it by chance?
Simeon: The material itself is slippery^^
Haruka: [sigh] the missed opportunity to see everything =_="
Simeon: You can look around by walking, come on^^ [holds her hand and walks with her]
Haruka doesn't know if she wants to screech or melt to the ground as soon as that happens. She also feels butterflies in her stomach.
Haruka internally: Why is my heart beating so loudly? We're married, ffs! Why do I feel butterflies in my stomach?? What's happening??
Simeon: Haruka? My dear?
Haruka: Y-Yes!
Simeon: Are you okay? You're spacing out...
Haruka: Y-yeah.... of course.... [laughs nervously]
Simeon: Look, it's the ancient guitar! [takes Haruka to the antique guitar stand]
Anyways, now to the next couple. The foodie couple! Apparently, the museum has a vending machine unironically, and you know what that means-
Ichigo: You wanna buy another snack....?
Beel: [nods] Mmhmm! Human snacks are always good :D
Ichigo: It is^^. Which one do you want?
Beel: Any recommendations? These are all Greek brands...;-;
Ichigo: They're just the same as the regular one... it's just in greek^^
Beel: Ooh :o Okay! [picks some of them and finally inserts the money because he now knows how to use them]
Ichigo: :o [runs to the vending machine beside it] Strawberry miiiilllkk!!
Beel: Oh? Do you want that too?
Ichigo: Yes +w+
Beel: Ah, do you want me to-
Before he can finish his words, Ichigo already inserts her money into the vending machine and picks up her own strawberry milk. Ah, the missed opportunity to spoil your lover. There, there... *pats Beel*
Beel: Ah, so you can buy it yourself
Ichigo: Of course! Why?
Beel: Oh, it's nothing-
Ichigo: Don't tell me you're trying to pay for my drinks as well...
Beel: Somehow-
Ichigo: [sigh] Hon, we've talked about this =3= I'll handle this simple stuff, and when I can't handle it, I'll ask you-
Beel: [looks away awkwardly]
After getting their snacks, the couple goes into the museum. They start with the history level, surprisingly Beel hasn't opened his snacks.
Beel: :o these are so cool
Ichigo: Right??
Beel: I didn't know human history would be this cool :o I'm never the one to like history, but now I'm interested
Ichigo: That's great! Let's go! That one looks coo- wait, are those greek Gods and goddesses??
Beel: You're right :o Wanna go there?
Ichigo: Let's go! [drags Beel to that stand]
Beel: Wait! The snacks! Be careful!
Ichigo: You haven't opened them-
Beel: They'd fall anyway!
Ichigo: Plastic bags exist for a reason, Beelzebub Morningstar!
Beel: Right-
Ichigo internally: Am I moronsexual? Am I into dumb people?? Did I pick the wrong man?? Should I've been with Satan??
There, there... Anyways, they explore the historic area and now they're on their way to the art level. Oh, the excitement Ichigo has once the lift is opened.
Ichigo: Ah yes, my favorite area!
Beel: Art?
Ichigo: Yesssss
Suddenly Ichigo feels her phone vibrating in her pocket. She answers the video call and it's Satan.
Ichigo: What? =_=
Satan: You're in a museum?? And without me?!?!
Ichigo: ...Dude, I'm on a date-
Satan: Still! The art museum is my favorite thing!
Ichigo sigh and switch the camera so they can see the whole thing
Ichigo: There, you can see the whole thing
Satan: Much better! Let's go!! I'm curious!!
Beel:...
Ichigo: Beel's with me by the way
Satan: And?
Asmo: Can't you just let them date in peace?! Why are you such a third wheel?!
Satan: It's an art museum!
Asmo: [rolls eyes] Are you for real now?? [steals Satan's phone despite his protest] Ichigo, just enjoy your date! Ignore this raging ball of chaos, might as well hang up on him!
Satan: What's that supposed to mean?!
Asmo: You're obviously disturbing their date. Go find your own date for f*ck sakes!
Satan: Hey! I'm not ruining their date! I'm just curious!
Asmo: bullshit! You literally asked her to take you there!
Beel: Uh...
Asmo: Beel~! My lovely little brother~ how's your date~
Beel: Oh it's going great^^ We get good food, went to the history part of the museum, the hotel's great too^^
Asmo: Oh that's great! Now will you excuse me, I'll let you enjoy your date and hang up this video call^^
Satan: But-
Instantly the screen shuts down as the couple blinks awkwardly. Oh well...
Ichigo: That was wild... shall we look around?
Beel: Let's go! I'm not into art though but who knows I'll change my mind
Ichigo: You might^^
The two of them look around the art museum looking at paintings, pottery, and many more. Suddenly they see Haruka and Simeon coming down the stairs.
Beel: [confused chewing noises] Hey, isn't that Haruka and Simeon?
Ichigo: Hm? Where? [looks around] Ooh! [finally sees them]
Haruka: Oh you guys are here! Done with the history level?
Ichigo: Yep! Now going to the next one!
Beel: This is fun :D [more chewing noises]
Simeon: Is it fun or is it because of the food?
Beel: :(((
Beel: Sugar... am I only known to be hungry?? :((
Ichigo: Oh, no, no, of course not! I'm sure you're having fun too [pats his shoulder]
Beel: Still... :((
Ichigo: He's just hungry, but he does love the museum. I even buy a strawberry milk^^
Beel: Yeah, there's a vending machine :(((
Simeon: Ah I see^^
Simeon: Let's go, Haruka^^ [gets down the stairs]
Haruka: You're literally stuck up there-
Simeon: I meant, go look around
Haruka: Oooh, right! Let's go!
The main couple goes to see the art museum. They see many beautiful paintings from Greek artists and much more artwork.
Haruka: It's so pretty :o
Simeon: It is. It reminds me of the celestial realm sometimes^^
Haruka: Greek heaven, perhaps?
Simeon: That's probably it^^. Oh! A statue!
Haruka: Where??
Simeon: [pulls Haruka to the statue] Wow, she looks majestic!
Haruka: [sees the description] Ooh! Goddess Athena!
Simeon: She looks exactly like in real life^^
Haruka: You've met her?
Simeon: [nods]
Haruka: Is she nice?
Simeon: She is, and very wise too^^
Haruka: ...did you meet aphrodite as well?
Simeon: No, I haven't. Why?
Haruka: Just asking...
Simeon: ^^ She is known to be beautiful though
Haruka: Do you find her beautiful too? [looks at him suspiciously]
Simeon: ??? uh.... she is quite beautiful?? They did a good job with the statue...?
Haruka: Oh, I see...
Simeon: [feels a bit of jealousy aura] Are you...?
Haruka: What?
Simeon: Let's go somewhere else^^ [takes her to another stand]
Meanwhile, both Beel and Ichigo are impressed by the Gods' statues.
Beel and Ichigo: Wow-
Ichigo: They look so cool! :o
Beel: Yeah!
Beel: Hmm, I wonder how they work out...
Ichigo: [blinks in confusion] What-
Beel: What-
Ichigo: You're fine with this size though-
Beel: I'm just curious...
Ichigo: Why am I dating you again??
Beel: [shrugs in idk]
Ichigo: Whatever, let's just see the rest of the statues-
Beel: Okay-
They continue to the statues of the Goddesses while Haruka and Simeon look at the Gods' statues. The four of them pass by each other and Haruka stares at Ichigo in confusion.
Haruka: Ichigo... are you okay?
Ichigo: I'm good... [whispers] I'm just dating an idiot that's why
Haruka: Oof...
Ichigo: Oof indeed:")
Ichigo: I might start dating your ex at this point-
Haruka: Pfft-
Simeon: ^^
Beel: ^^
Ichigo: haha.... hi...
Beel: So you prefer my brother?
Ichigo:...no?
Beel: Fine, might as well be with him if that's the case [walks off]
Ichigo: What?! Beel! Wait!!
Simeon: [sigh] What on earth-
Back at Devildom, Asmo looks at the screen in confusion with Satan and Mammon.
Asmo: What-
Satan: Why are they- Why is he walking away??
Mammon: What the f*ck?!?!
Asmo: What's going on?? What happened??
Asmo: I'll go comment!!
Asmo wrote a comment to ask what's going on. Ichigo sighed and texted back her answer to Asmo and the answer make all three of them jaws drop that instant.
Satan: So.... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Asmo: Don't you dare! [smacks Satan with a pillow]
Mammon: .... is this Satan vs Simeon 2. O but make it against Beel?
Asmo: [sips boba] maybe-
Mammon: Hell Nah! I'm not dealing with that again!
Satan: ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ehe-
Asmo: EHE TE NANDAYO!
Wrong fandom Asmo. Anyways, back at the museum, Ichigo is still trying to chase Beel because he's walking away from her. She didn't mean any of that, she meant that as a joke!
Ichigo: Beel wait!! Wait! Slow down [almost trips]
Beel: [finally stops and oh boi Ichigo ends up bumping on him instead]
Ichigo: Ouch! Oof- [almost falls but luckily Beel holds her so she won't fall]
Beel: [helps her up] ...
Ichigo: Beel, it's a misunderstanding! I was joking around! I only love you!
Beel: Yet you're-
Ichigo: Beel... :((( Please we're engaged and my heart only belongs to you :((
Beel: Let's just talk about this when we're back... it's not good to argue in a public place...
Ichigo: ....okay.... :(
As Haruka looks at the statues, Simeon looks at the couple worriedly because they seem to be fighting and he can't help but feel bad for them.
Simeon: Tsk. That demon as always... [shakes his head in disappointment]
Simeon: He keeps on ruining their relationship and for what? [rolls his eyes]
Haruka: Simeon?
Simeon: Oh you're back^^
Haruka: Yeah... what's next?
Simeon: .... Depends^^ Do you want to continue or do you want to get back?
Haruka: Go back and find food +w+ plus, it's almost night
Simeon: Let's go then^^ [holds Haruka's hand]
Haruka: Yeah, let's go...
Haruka: I'll go text Ichigo for a while...
Simeon: Okay^^
Haruka internally: So, we'll be eating dinner soon
Ichigo internally: I don't know if he wants dinner at this point...
Haruka internally: What do you mean?
Ichigo internally: I don't know either, he won't even talk to me... :((
Haruka internally: Want me to talk to him instead?
Ichigo internally: I mean so we can have a peaceful dinner, I guess...
Haruka internally: Okay...
Haruka finally gets out of the telepathy chatroom and search for the restaurant they wanted. Once she does that she text Beel where they're eating. Beel of course receives the text and this is also the first time he rolls his eyes because he doesn't wanna eat in a foul mood but his stomach says differently. They can hear it growling, begging for dinner.
Beel: Fine...
Haruka: Okay.... I'll just go there first with Simeon.... you guys sort this out
Beel: Nah, I'll go there with you guys, it's fine
Haruka: =_= kay, but I'm not responsible for the horrible mood you are gonna be in throughout the dinner
Beel: I'll handle it, don't worry
Haruka: how am I not worried?! You guys have a misunderstanding and my ex can move forward anytime soon!!
Beel: If he does then he will... I'm tired of this okay?
Haruka: [sigh] She only loves you, she's a loyal person. We're just joking around... It's not in your nature to be suddenly offended about this...
Beel: My patience is running thin, Haruka.
Haruka: Yeah I know but still-
Beel: and please don't butt in into my relationship. We're both grown adults even though we're both younger than you by two years.
In real life, Haruka scoffs at Beel's response because what is that?! What kind of response is that?! She gets it that he's mad and is in a bad mood but why respond like that? Sure she doesn't have the right to be involved in their relationship but she's just helping! Ugh, whatever... that's what she thought as she locks her phone.
Haruka: Let's go, they'll catch up
Simeon: You sure?
Haruka: Yep, they'll sort it out either way
So the couple leaves Beel and Ichigo to sort out their problem. Haruka did give them a choice to either go back to the hotel or go to the restaurant but I guess Beel chose the first option, going back to the hotel. He even walks off with Ichigo confusedly following him.
Ichigo: Wait! Beel! Where are you going??
Beel: Back to the hotel, I'm not in a mood for food now...
Ichigo: ...okay...
Beel: You can go eat with them if you want
Ichigo: I'll go with you!
Beel didn't say anything but kept walking as the pink-haired girl tried to catch up with him despite her shorter legs. The two somehow manage to get to the hotel, and once they get there,Beel finally talks about it. He even pulls her to sit beside him.
Ichigo: It's a joke, honest. You know I get annoyed easily... so I just blurt it out, but I don't mean it.... my heart belongs to you and only you...
Beel: That guy has been trying to approach you lately, so mentioning that adds up the flame, you know?
Ichigo: I know, and I'm sorry. I don't mean to do that...
Beel: Just don't be that careless again, okay? We barely argue, you know?
Ichigo: Barely? We never argue even!
Beel: Exactly, I don't want us to fight...., especially over this, but my patience is running low at this point...
Ichigo: What do you mean?
Beel: Let's see... besides blurting that out, he also wants you to take him with us to that museum... sure, I didn't say anything about it, but I really want to throw hands that instant.
Ichigo: Nooo :(( [hugs him] I'm so sorry about that :((
Beel: It's okay... it's just a misunderstanding, right?
Ichigo: Still... I don't mean to ruin our date...
Beel: [suddenly pulls her to his lap]
Ichigo: [blushes slightly] W-why so sudden?
Beel: Why not? I'll make it up to you for the ruined date.
Ichigo: Uh... Uhm.... [blushing like crazy] It's only fair, I guess...
Oh well, let's just let them make out or something. Now back to Simeon and Haruka. They both eat their first dinner in Greece in a fancy restaurant with a beautiful view. It's a boat restaurant! How cool!
Haruka: It's beautiful...
Simeon: A beautiful view for my lovely wife~
Haruka: [slaps his shoulder playfully] So cheesy!
Simeon: Only for you^^
After ordering their food, they enjoyed their delicious dinner and finally went home on foot because they wanted to look around. They even hold hands as they walk back to the hotel.
Haruka: You know, I'm really glad that we're together... we did have a lot going on before finally getting together
Simeon: I agree, there's a lot to go through before we're finally together.... but I can't get over the fact that I technically stole you from Satan, and now he's ruining Ichigo's relationship... I feel bad for her.
Haruka: you technically didn't.... since Satan and I broke up months later because our relationship is toxic.... we're just not compatible...
Simeon: I see... but are you happy being with me?
Haruka: Of course, if I'm not, we wouldn't be married...
Simeon: Good point
Haruka: Speaking of which... I think we should separate our bedrooms
Simeon: ?? Why?
Haruka: In case anything happens...
Simeon: Ah, are you ready for the consumption process by chance?
Haruka: No.... just in case they did it instead
Simeon: ...wait, you're right
Haruka: Silencing charm works too....
Simeon: Silencing charm it is^^
They continue to walk hand in hand until what they say is right because they can hear those noises from Ichigo and Beel's room.
Haruka: Simeon... if you do the honors^^
Simeon: Of course^^ [puts a silencing charm on Ichigo and Beel's room] Demons these days [shakes his head]
Haruka internally: So.... what are you two doing?
Ichigo internally: Watching a movie...? A comedic one....?
Haruka internally: Ah- Simeon here needs holy water despite being an angel-
Ichigo internally: …how?
Haruka internally: I don't know either, probably because it's honeymoon and all... and that thing-
Ichigo internally : ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I see-
Haruka internally: Stop making that face-
Ichigo Internally: ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Ehe-
Haruka internally : [facepalms] Whatever, I'll just go-
Haruka leaves the telepathic chatroom to get ready for bed because it's been a long day. Shall we see what's happening while Simeon and Haruka are having dinner? They eventually order hotel food because it's the nearest and eat in their room.
Ichigo: Didn't know hotel food is good-
Beel: It is :o they're so good!
Ichigo: They have a tv too?? :o and Netflix?? :o [tries the tv]
Beel: Ooh! We can eat and watch a movie!
Ichigo: That's a good idea!! :o
So that's how we get here, them laughing at a comedic movie. Now back to Haruka and Simeon's room. Haruka tells him not to sleep first because she's not sleepy yet.
Haruka: [gets out with her satin pajamas] Hey, it's your turn now [sees Simeon blanking out] ...Simeon?
Simeon: [finally snaps out] Y-yes??
Haruka: It's your turn? Are you okay?
Simeon: Y-yes, I'm okay [enters the bathroom] [leans to the door]...Why am I thinking so sinfully today?? What's wrong with me??
Simeon: I definitely need to bathe in holy water for these sinful thoughts.... how am I an angel again??
As Simeon takes his bath, Haruka decides to watch some youtube until he's finished.
Simeon: I'm finished-
Haruka: Oh, that's great [sees him just with a towel] o///o uh oh well... [goes back to the tv]
Simeon shrugs as he changes to his pajama despite Haruka being in that room. She's so focused on watching youtube that she doesn't realize Simeon is right beside her.
Haruka: [Casually puts a long pillow between them because why not]
Simeon: Haruka?? Why??
Haruka: Just in case. I just don't want anything to happen, like random movements. Some people even kick me in their sleep-
Simeon: Really? Uh... I don't sleep like that, though... or at least that's what I thought...
Haruka: You don't?
Simeon: No...? Who does that?
Haruka: ...Mammon?
Simeon: How did you know?
Haruka: [shrugs] Ichigo told me
Simeon: ???
Haruka: Beel probably told her-
Simeon: Fair enough, but why, though? Why the border? I don't sleep like that :((
Haruka: Fine, fine, okay. No borders- [removes the long pillow] Happy?
Simeon: Very~ ^^
Simeon: What are you watching, by the way?
Haruka: Game-play on YouTube :D
Simeon: Ah, I forgot you're a gamer. No wonder
Haruka: Yep, do you want to watch too?
Simeon: Sure, why not
Haruka glances at Simeon and asks when he sleeps back in the Celestial realm as they watch the movie.
Simeon: 9 pm...
Haruka: Really? That early...
Simeon: Why? When do you even sleep?
Haruka: Because of RAD and all the assignments.... midnight...
Simeon: [surprised Pikachu face]
Haruka: We can't help it... there's a lot to do :((
Simeon: Even now?
Haruka: Sometimes-
Simeon: [sigh] We really need to work on your sleep schedule-
Haruka: It's not that bad :<
Simeon: It is. You even have eyebags
Haruka: No, I don't!!
Simeon: You do!
Haruka: I dooon'ttt
Simeon: Then what's this? [casually points to the dark spot beneath the eyes]
Haruka: I use sunglasses, remember???
Simeon: Well, we'll work on your sleep schedule anyway, so... 30 more minutes to sleep-
Haruka: At 9? Why not 11?
Simeon: 10?
Haruka: 11 pleaasseee??
Simeon: Te- [gets tickled instead lmao] Wait- why- Haruka!! Stop-
Haruka: I'll keep doing it if you don't give me 11!!
Simeon: Wa-wait- No-
Haruka: Oh? So it's a no? [continues]
Simeon: Okay! Okay! Fine, 11 it is-
Haruka: Good [kisses his cheek] >:3 mwehehehe-
Simeon: [sigh] I married a gremlin-
Haruka: You love this gremlin :D
Simeon: I do [nods]
So that's what happened on day 1 in Greece but wait! Something happened! Why is Haruka's phone ringing?? Haruka glances at the nightstand, and it's her father.
Haruka: Hello...?
King: So, you're on a honeymoon, aren't you? What time is it there?
Haruka: 9.30? What is it, father?
King: Oh no, no, I just want to check up on you. Just in case anything happens to you, your mother is worried too.
Haruka: Oh, don't worry. Nothing happens. I even took my friend with her boyfriend too.
King: Ah, so there's four of you. That's good.
King: Did you have fun?
Haruka: Of course! It's fun, we traveled to lots of places, and the food here is good
King: Oh, that's a relief^^. I'm glad you're having fun there.
King: since it's late, I'll let you enjoy your honeymoon. Good night
Haruka: Goodnight...? [confused bcs her dad just hung up]
Finally, it's 10, and surprisingly Haruka is sleepy. Simeon almost laughs at her being sleepy.
Simeon: So... you asked for 11, but you're sleepy at 10??
Haruka: I'm tired. Just let me sleep =_=
Simeon: Good, let's sleep
Simeon: Good night, Haruka^^
Haruka: Night... [casually sleeps like always]
Simeon isn't asleep yet and stares a bit at her. Wow, she's sleeping soundly. Simeon decides to pull her closer and hugs her through the night. He also pulls the blanket to cover them both before finally sleeping.
I know you're wondering what's happening in the other room. Awww, look at them. They're cuddling themselves to sleep. Ichigo is now on top of Beel, sleeping soundly.
That is all for day one. See you guys in the next chapter!

This might be getting a bit too realistic and/or nitpicky, but do you think each of the groups actually like make money from their music? I know some of the characters have jobs and most of them also probably have an allowance. I kinda wonder about it since Leo/need mention needing to rent a studio which isn’t cheap, MMJ are independent so they have to budget their cash themselves probably, VBS participate in a ton of shows, WxS probably do get paid since they work for PhoenixWonderland, and 25ji post their stuff online.
From what I remember, I don’t think Leo/need has done any live performances yet. but all 4 of the members have jobs I think. They don’t talk about it, but I wonder if they’ve posted any of their stuff online. They could probably make some money if they have a Youtube-like website or something like Spotify. But yeah probably not much revenue money-wise since they’re all still early in their music journey.
MMJ is independent so they have to manage their budget themselves. Minori seems to be the only one with a job, but the other 3 are all previous idols so they all probably have decent savings from their time as idols before. Do you think they still get some royalties since stores seem to still sell some of their merch even though they’re not in their groups anymore (the music store still sells ASRUN merch that has Haruka on it). But still, they do mention a budget for their activities so I wonder where they get their money from. Do they have memberships/Pateron/etc so their fans can send support? They seem to stream often so I wonder if they have the equivalent of Superchats/Twitch bits/etc. on that site so that fans can donate more money. 3/4 famous idols probably draw in a lot of people so they would obviously want to give them money. I wonder if Minori ever contributes her job’s cash to the budget pool. I’d understand why she wouldn’t or if the others told her she didn’t have to since that is Minori’s cash. I kinda hope that MMJ eventually get like a manager or a helper or something at some point to help with this stuff though. The Xmas event showed how difficult this stuff can get and they handled it well, but in the future if they want to do something bigger, they’re definitely gonna need help.
Vivid Bad Squad is a bit complicated. An and Akito have jobs while Toya is from a rich family. I don’t know if his dad actually gives Toya an allowance, but Toya burns a ton of money on crane games so I guess he does since he doesn’t mention a job. Kohane probably just has an allowance and she also doesn’t mention a job either. But I wonder if the competitions they enter have an admittance fee or something and if those competitions also have cash prizes. It sounds like there are some older people at these competitions too so a cash prize would be good incentive for having contestants. Though I can also see Vivid Street being a place where it’s more about name, connections, and fame than money so competitions would be more about spreading your name and winning than the cash. I like to think it’s both since VBS spend so much time doing this.
WxS work for Phoenix Wonderland so they all have jobs technically. I mean maybe the people who watch their shows leave tips or gifts for them somewhere, but uh yeah. Emu is technically rich too so cash isn’t on her mind. I can’t really say much for everyone else.
25-ji is an interesting case. Kanade is being supported by her grandma since her dad is hospitalized. I don’t think Mizuki has a job so probably has an allowance for all the shopping and clothes. Maybe they do commissions for clothes and MVs for extra money. Same with Ena, she doesn’t have a job, she probably has an allowance, and maybe she does art commissions for some side cash. Though Ena does seem to have a decently sized following on not-Instagram so maybe she has done promotions too. Mafuyu is definitely not allowed to have a job and I’m gonna be honest, I’m not sure if she has an allowance or not. Her parents probably give her some cash for academics stuff, but I don’t know if they ask to see receipts or ask for the change back like some parents. I’d like to think they don’t, but who knows. The thing about 25-ji though is that they probably have their music on every platform they can. Kanade seemed to have only posted on not-Youtube back when it was just her, but I feel like Mizuki and Ena convinced her to spread to like not-Spotify and other places to help spread her music to more people. So I think 25-ji make some decent profits from their music. I also HC that Mizuki and Ena convinced Kanade to set up like a membership/Patreon/etc. to let their fans send donations/provide a stable income since they probably realize Kanade might not have her future planned out and she might need some savings just in case. Plus after Mafuyu reveals her situation, they probably convince Mafuyu to take some of the profits too so she can get start saving and get some independence from her parents.
(Update: Thank you @agentkuga ! Mizuki does have a job. Lol my bad. )
Sorta 4th-wall breaking, but I always just wondered about all of this. It’s not cheap following your dream, but they seem to have a better grasp on it than I thought they would. Anyways, did I miss anything? Let me know. Thanks for reading.

Ok ok ok, I know this is a stupid theory, but its in my head and I want to share. Ok, so, human Acca has some resemblance to Koito right?
Tumblr media
Dark brown hair, glasses, green eyes, danglely bit of hair.
Tumblr media
I think they are some kind of related. He works for Japan plati, who do have a history of making kids through things like IVF. Just like neiru, so could Koito also be like her?
She transfered to the school, and that reason was never mentioned. She also did get bullied but she never really seemed to be affect (although people do show emotions in differnt ways). After being badly bullied, she doesn't seem all that much like she cared. She wants to know if Ai got the video
Tumblr media
After seeing that the video was useless. She still doesn't seem to care.
Tumblr media
Instead she tries to comfort Ai. Although, as I said people deal with stiff in differnt ways and I could just be thinking to much.
Then Ai says that "we were friends, so why didn't she talk to me?"
Tumblr media
Maybe beacuse there was something bigger at play?
What I think happend is, that Koito is/was appart of the Japan plati and was sent to make friends with Ai, only to k*ll herself, so Ai would become depressed and want her back. This would allow the Accas to meet her and gather more "Warriors". I also think Mr. Sawaki is involved and that its a similar story for all the girls.
Koito was always with mr.sawaki, and mr.sawki being handsome, would obviously make some students jealous which it did. Leading to Koito getting bullied (the more rational theory on why koito died, but even Ai doesn't think that's the reason as she doesn't know why she died). Its not like its a difficult plan to come up with. Even Momoe said only incredibly smart people could get into the Japan plati, who would be orchestrating this.
Tumblr media
"Yes. I heard only people with really high IQs can join." So some incredibly smart people could come up with the plan.
Then at the end of the last episode the Accas talk about Thanatos and Eros. Needing to "Confront Thanatos, we need warriors of Eros, his polar opposite." So they are gathering "warriors" I guess these are Neiru, Ai, Rika, and Momoe. They went after them on purpose, and possibly even manipulated them before meeting them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think Mr.Sawaki is apart of this as we was close to Koito, and she was always with him.
I'm not sure on the relationship with all the girls. For Neiru, she had a sister, and she was "told" that her sister stabbed then jumped off a bridge. This allows, Neiru to want clarity on the situation and fight to see her sister.
Then I'm not sure for rika, she does say she thought Chiemi was rich as she was always giving her money. I'm pretty sure the japan plati has lots of money. And the probably staged the scene of Chiemi shoplifting, making rika annoyed and going off at her, giving a reason for Chiemi to die. She also mention that a fan (a stranger how could easily meet up and see her, possibly a person working at Japan plati?) told her Chiemi had died and didn't see it herself like how Neiru didn't. She also says that "she was skin and bones, like a mummy" and that "this isn't Chiemi". She probably died from starving herself after being called fat by a person she idolised, but that isn't how it works when you are staved. (Depending on the person and how much starving, everyone is different). Or maybe it really wasn't her? It was another body? She never sees her face as she is under a blanket. So rika feels guilty making her want to bring chiemi back as she feels guilty.
Tumblr media
Then there isnt alot for Momoe, but she is related ro Mr.Sawaki who could be apart of the Japan plati. As he was around Koito alot, and not too long after she dies, he suddenly can make it as an artist and has a reason to leave the school? We don't really know anything about Momoe and Haruka reltionship, except she was the only person who saw Momoe on a girl, and was likely her only friend. Just like Ai and Koito. Then one day Haruka suddenly comes onto Momoe which triggers her, causing something bad happening between the too. Which led to Haruka committing s*icide, like with Rika and Chiemi. I don't know about you, but getting rejected then deciding to k*ll yourself, is alot. (Although, it does happen and is totally possible im not trying to invalidate their emotions, I'm just making a dumb theory). We also don't know if Momoe saw her died or heard about it. Nether-the-less, she misses Haruka, and feels guilty and also wants her back. Another Warrior for the Accas.
TL;DR: The accas/Japan plati set up everything. Picking the girls, and setting them up with the people they are fighting for, and giving them a reason to be in the dream worlds, to make them into warriors, to fight "Thanatos" .

I've heard someone said that some interview said that it's not the end of free! and that the finale means "the answer of relationship between haruka and the water". what do you think about this?
Ehmm.. haha well, I guess I can't say for sure sure, since ppl are greedy and not all the creators know when is the right time to end things while it gives money, but I think someone probably misread something. As in maybe them saying "it's not the end of their journey" or something like that, since technically for them its the beginning.
The reason I'm quite sure it's the end is because everything they're doing is basically a heartwarming goodbye message. I mean, they even included the commercial that started it all in the teaser to the last one (ending of the first part), plus all the throwbacks to the beginning and everything. Plus this is in general I think their hugest promotional compain. And seiyuus also treat it as a goodbye, so I think someone misread smth probably.
But then again I've seen so many dumb things ad spin-offs no one needs and stuff like that and they have tons of characters, so Idk haha I just hope this won't affect rinharu story in any way. Like I'd let them show them on TV once if they do some continuation haha
As for Haru and water... lolz this is such a funny quote. I think I'm pretty sure what it's gonna be about. On of his fears in the novel about what water means to him got revealed after Rin left for the first time: "Water will save him from all of these unnecessary tying things. Wait... Am I trying to run away? Was that what he was always doing? Is that all the connection he and water have? He was trying to hide his real feelings inside the water all along?". He was really upset about the fact that he might be using swimming as an escape from pain and his true feelings all along. Like when he's in the water evrything would be alright. He always used it when Rin was leaving. After s2 (?) I think he even said to Makoto "but I can still feel Rin when I'm in the water, right?" So basically it's a place where he could forget painful reality for a while and pretend that everything is okay. That's the main reason he could hold on for such a long time I think.
He in generally took swimming as like many people use something the love doing to make them relax (lmao no, not just that), when something bad happens. I for example find it in vidding and doing puzzles lmao. But when Rin left for the first time, it triggered him so hard as you can read this part here that for the first time it wasn't just a "momentarily release" he needed, but when he described it as a necessity, as in "I need to get to the water. Haruka's heartbeat sped up. Blood was boiling inside of him." And Rin was the first one who mad him feel so much, too much, that he started using water as this thing that he hides his heart in, not as the thing that makes his heart feel better. It was like each time he left or smth happened he was like "I'll die if I don't get in the pool".
But now Albert took water away and hence the result. It's like we don't want this shit out, we don't know how to deal with this and where to put it and we also can't escape it now. It's easier to put his heart into a trash can now, bc like dealing with everything he was hiding in the water up until now is like... volcano eruption at this point.
So my point is I'm pretty sure based on everything and the slogan of the next part they're going for the fact that he can't swim without a heart, his way of swimming is his heart, like once a long time ago he put his heart in the water and left it there bc it was easier this way. The only one as the director said who can make this feelings resurface is Rin, who like 10 times been shown for Haru is in fact a representation of water (splash, opening speech, first love speech etc). In my opinion the metaphor is obvious here, as in who holds his heart.
So I think they simply going with pretty obvious route aka when he has his heart in a right place, he's the strongest. That the only way he can win and easily deal with Albert (bc it was already hinted that thinking of Rin got him there) is just being happy. I'm not implying here that each time he's upset or have a small fight with someone or smth, he's gonna suddenly swim bad xD, he just needs this one thing, to clear up this ONE THING, and he's gonna be on his 200% and won't be having a crisis if someday Rin has to fly on some other tournament than him lol.
I just think if he gets rid of his fear and clears up and accepts his feelings and stops running away from them, that's when he can surpass all of his limits and not be affected by all this as much. He can finally put his heart back in its place and brilliantly swim just simply because he loves it.
But then again, I might be wrong, it's just my opinion here.

Minako/Haruka (BROTP): What’s their relationship with each other’s families?
Mina would argue that murder isn't actually her default position--she leaves that to hotheads like Rei--but for Haruka's mother she's willing to make an exception.
It would be easier if Haruka was capable of hating her mother. There would be no point in hating her mother, if her mother was done hurting her. And Haruka would tell you she hates her mother, of course, and maybe she'd even believe it herself, but Mina's seen the look in her eyes at another disappointment, or worse, the look of hope when Haruka says they're meeting for lunch, or she's dropping by the old apartment.
She'll never be different, Mina's said more than once. She doesn't know how to be. Honestly, Mina's not sure what her mother did to deserve any amount of loyalty on Haruka's part. Whatever she might have earned by literally giving birth to Haruka had been burned up long ago from the years of spending the food money on drugs, and ignoring Haruka's ever-shortening pants, of bringing home shitty men who called Haruka an ugly, stupid dyke, or, less often but easier for Haruka to bear, hit her.
So hating Haruka's mother and wanting her dead was an easy position, and one Haruka agrees with, in all the ways she'll be able to without the assistance of therapy. It's no source of conflict between them.
But what Mina doesn't say, is she hates Haruka's grandmother, too.
Haruka loves her grandmother, and the memory she has of her, and tells Mina often about how she packed Haruka's lunches, and mended her clothes, and would do special things for her, and she would joke that it's probably because of her grandmother that Haruka didn't end up a serial killer or something.
But MIna hates her. Would spit on her grave, if she had one.
You knew what your daughter was like, Mina imagines saying, and still you helped her have a baby? You couldn't have found some guy to sign off on an abortion? Some couple probably would have adopted her, if you'd tempted your daughter with money to sign her rights off.
She would never say as much to Haruka, who, beyond everything else, would take it not as 'her mother should never have had a baby,' but further confirmation of the deep fear that she never should have been born.
You know what your daughter was like, Mina thinks, and you never tried to take Haruka from her completely? You never got custody, you never got her rights removed? You never kicked her out, and cut her off? You somehow thought you'd live forever? You somehow thought your daughter would learn to be a mother if you died? You didn't think Haruka would be better off in the system, or at least have a fighting chance?
I know, and I know you must have known, that she'd never take care of Haruka. You never told Haruka this, but she almost certainly didn't magically stop taking drugs just because she was pregnant. You made sure she was born, and you took care of her, but did you really protect her? Or did you just delay her misery for as long as possible?
Mina will never say any of these things. Haruka has one real hero in her childhood, and its her grandmother. Someone loved her. Someone wanted her.
That's great and all, Mina thinks, but she absolutely did the wrong thing for you. She loved you in a selfish way. No one loved you like you should have been.
"I would have liked to meet her," is all Mina says, smiling, "she must really have loved you."

Middle School Kiryu, Nishiki, and Yumi: Kiryu and Nishiki’s Grand Gift Gambit
This event ran back in March 2020, and I definitely missed some things the first time around so I did some re-checking. Here’s the event banner!
Tumblr media
Yumi looks nearly identical to Haruka at this age, just with browner hair. Edit: wow never mind actually that IS Haruka. I was thrown off by her being next to the boys and never bothered to look at the name on the card lmao
Summary: Kiryu and Nishiki want to go to definitely-not-disneyland with Yumi for her birthday, but despite their best efforts they haven’t scraped together enough cash for it. Thankfully a scratcher event is offering three tickets as the top prize! They’re ready to work their asses off to win it.
Between the two of them they've gathered 4,000 yen for Yumi's birthday (They're working together! I thought they'd be competing based on the title)
They want to buy tickets to something that's literally translated as "Mouse Mission Park" which I was extremely confused about, but realized it’s probably knock off disney land. Unfortunately that’s not enough for a single ticket, let alone three of them, and Yumi’s birthday is tomorrow!
Kiryu: ...What do we do, Nishiki? Didn’t you promise Yumi? And isn’t her birthday is tomorrow? Kiryu: Geez. All because you went and promised without thinking about it... Actually, you’ve been kind of weird about this kind of thing with Yumi lately. Nishiki: I-It’s not weird! A man has to be kind to women! Kiryu: What do you mean by that...? Nishiki: Exactly what I said. We’re not kids anymore. I want to do this to prove that.
They overhear a promotion: there’s scratchers with the top prize being the three tickets they need! The tickets are a bonus for buying things in the shopping district, it’s being put on by a commerce association for the shops.
Kiryu: ...Did you hear that Nishiki? Nishiki: Yeah. That’s just what we needed (Tl note: literally “a boat when you need to cross over water”). If we can win the top prize, everything will be perfect. Kiryu: But, if we have to buy things just to try or luck at scratchers... Do we have enough money for that? Nishiki: ...No, but one way or another we’ll make this work.
The two of them overhear two of the shopkeepers complaining that they’ve had a ton of thefts in their stores, and it’s been happening up and down the block. They don’t know any stores here that haven’t been dealing with rampant shoplifting. They think it’s likely students doing it.
Nishiki rushes over and offers to catch the shop lifters. The two shop owners blow him off, saying that this is a grown up problem and they don’t need a kid to help. Nishiki points out that if they follow around the shoplifters they’ll stand out, but if a kid like Nishiki does it they wouldn’t notice.
They don’t have any better options, so they agree, but they’re not sure they can pay him. Nishiki says that’s fine, just give me scratchers for every shoplifter I catch! They agree, Nishiki will get 10 scratchers per shoplifter. It’s definitely more than one or two people, so if he can catch a lot of people he might even win that grand prize.
Kiryu says that Nishiki is the same as ever. Nishiki says he can eat those words when Nishiki pulls the top prize, and they get to work.
<EVENT HAPPENS>
The boys work until it’s dark. They were very successful, the shoplifters never expected children to be the ones catching them. Kiryu’s a little worried someone might pull the prize before them, so time to cash in and scratch them all in pursuit of those tickets.
In exchange for stopping a whooooooole lot of shoplifters they got a whole stack of scratchers! First up.......... the consolation prize, pocket tissues. Kiryu’s sad, Nishiki thinks it’s good to build up the anticipation! It wouldn’t be any fun if they got it on the first scratcher.
Halfway through, still nothing but consolation prizes. Nishiki says not to worry! There’s still plenty!
There’s only 10 left now, and all they have is a pile of tissues.
They go through all of the scratchers and get........................ nothing! Except a bunch of pocket tissues. They are devastated.
Immediately after, a man scratches a single scratcher and wins the tickets!! Outrage!!! And it's none other than..........
Tumblr media
Kazama, who wants to know why they are here.
Tumblr media
They ask if Kazama was the one who won just now. Kazama says yes, why?
Nishiki asks Kiryu if they should maybe ask for the ticket? Kiryu says no... that's their pops, they can’t ask him... they can’t be that selfish....
Kazama makes a crafty bastard face.
Tumblr media
Kazama: Oh, it looks like you have something good there. Kiryu: Eh? Nishiki: These...? But this is just the pocket tissues from the consolation prizes. That’s not any good at all... Kazama: No, you see I have a cold right now. I’ve run out of tissues because of it. Kazama: If you don’t mind, perhaps I could trade my amusement park tickets for those tissues? Kiryu: Eh? Nishiki: O-Of course! Kazama: Whew, I’m saved. Well then, we have a deal.  Kazama: Don’t stay out too late tomorrow. Tell Yumi that as well.  Kiryu: ! Pops... thank you so much! Nishiki: Thank you so much!! <Kazama leaves> Nishiki: Haaa... Pops really saved our bacon huh... Kiryu: Yeah, he’s as cool as ever. Nishiki: ...Alright! In any case, it all worked out. Let’s go show this to Yumi, she’s going to be so happy! Kiryu: Yeah!
<END>
Bonus time: mfw I am 13 and extremely happy
Tumblr media
Here’s the cards for the boys.
Tumblr media
You might recognize it from the Y0 flashback where Kazama beat them up, which I really thought was near the end of highschool, but apparently they’re middle schoolers? They are somewhere between 11 and 15 here.
Kazama, don’t beat up ~13 year olds? Please?
Also, maybe if you had used this opportunity to teach these two it was okay to ask for help and that it wouldn’t be a burden and you don’t have to cloak all moments of care in 16 layers of obfuscation, well, maybe the franchise would have gone a lot differently. I’m just saying.

Seven Swipes for Shirayuki, Chapter 3
[Read on AO3]
Written for @fade-touched-obsidian‘s birthday, which was....nearly two months ago. BUT IT IS DONE NOW, and quite frankly two months is better than some of my other late-birthday posts 🤣
The sedan is stifling.
It may be the luxury size, purchased through the deep pockets of the Wisteria’s business accounts, but the real leather interior presses in too tight, crushing her beneath the weight of her choices. This is what Shirayuki’s leaving behind: plush seats and plastic dividers, penthouse views and double ovens, the sort of security only money could buy.
She’d never wanted it; it had all just come part and parcel of being with Zen, the baseline for orbiting in the same stratosphere as his social circle. None of it had ever felt natural; guilt dogged her every time she slipped into the back seat of an empty car instead of the front, every dish left in the sink for the cleaning service smacked of superiority, and having a doorman--
Well, she’d been late to more than a few galas because she got caught up chatting. It was rude to just blow by someone without even a hello, and if Antonio had a new picture of his granddaughter, she couldn’t possibly pass without a coo or two over the sweet Sharpei of a baby his daughter, the light of his life, had given birth to.
Haruka had frowned at that one, digging the corners of his mouth to new depths as he told her, one is not late to a charity gala because they are indulging The Help.
Shirayuki tightened her arms around her diffenbachia, burying her face in its spotted leaves. It’s so clear now, so obvious: she was never going to fit in. There was never going to be room for her in Zen’s life. She was never going to be able to turn off the parts of her that saw other people as people; even if she could, she would never want to. Not even for him.
The radio flicks on, the smooth strains of Clair de Lune tumbling through the air, making the cab lighter, more spacious.
“Debussy?” she hums, the diffenbachia rustling with her curiosity. “I wouldn’t have pegged you as a classical lover.”
Obi huffs, affront entirely feigned. “I’m a man of many depths.”
Shirayuki lifts her head, looking at the console’s digital display. “It was a preset, huh?”
His mouth twitches. “It was a preset. I thought you might like it better than smooth jazz or whatever else comes standard with wood interiors.”
“Probably.” She shifts back, removing her whole head from her leafy escape and settling it on the rest. It’s fine; she’ll be fine. Maybe it took six years to figure out what she should have known in six months, but she knows better now. No compromising, not like...that. Not with how she lives her life.
“So.” Obi’s gloves tighten on the wheel, leather creaking against leather. “You’re single now.”
Shirayuki nearly drops the whole vase. Not that it has far to go from her lap to the floor, but her plants have been shaken up enough the past few days. “E-excuse me?”
“For a whole--” he checks the dash with a grin that can mean nothing but trouble-- “forty-five minutes.”
“It’s been a week,” she reminds him primly, squeezing the diffenbachia for support. “Ever since--”
(”I can explain,” Zen says, fingers spiking runnels through his hair. “I wanted to do this in person--”)
“Sure,” Obi interjects smoothly. “But it’s only been forty-five minutes since you moved out of your sugar daddy’s apartment.”
“Zen was not my-- my--” the sedan is soundproof; Obi informed them all of it the moment he’d driven it off the lot, even if the way he said it had made Mitsuhide snap his name like a whip crack. She lowers her voice anyway. “Daddy.”
Obi’s hum does not fill her with confidence.
“He was only seven months older than me!” she huffs. “It’s biologically impossible for him to be a big brother let alone a-- a father.”
“Daddy is a state of mind, not an age gap. Though I’ll grant you--” his teeth flash, quick as a bear trap-- “boss doesn’t have much of that going for him either.”
It would undermine her point entirely to start arguing this one-- lord knows she doesn’t have a single horse in the race on how daddy Zen is anymore, if she ever did-- but her gut instinct is to hunker down on this hill and die on it. One she stifles successfully.
It’s not her job to staunchly defend Zen Wisteria anymore, and certainly not from Obi. And to be fair, out of any of them, she trusts Obi to have the most sense of...daddy, whatever that may be. Hopefully, he’ll never enlighten her.
“I didn’t take any of his money.” Every word tips stiffly from her tongue. “Nothing...personal. Only what was given to me as an employee.”
Beneath his shades, Obi softens. “I know that, Miss. I wasn’t trying to say...” He sighs, leather gloves flexing on the wheel. “That wasn’t my point.”
Her fingers ease where they splay over the pot. “Then what was?”
It’s the wrong thing to say. His mouth twitches at a corner, and--
“Isn’t it about time to find a new one?”
“You know,” Obi hums, fumbling with the guest house keys. “You can’t ignore the question forever.”
She squints up at the sky-- it’s a pure blue here, not covered with the haze that settles over most of LA, the one way to tell they’re no longer in the city anymore-- and sniff, “I think you’ll find I can.”
“Come on, Miss.” With a bump of his hip, the door swings open, the bags dangling from his shoulder helping it complete its arc instead of clapping back on him. Because it’s not a thin little beach screen, made to shiver open at the slightest touch, but a solid, weighted thing, made to hold up against everything but an LAPD battering ram. And maybe even then.
Shirayuki spares it a concerned glance, nearly missing as Obi adds, “You need to secure your future.”
“I thought that was what I was doing,” she mutters, toeing off her tennis shoes by the door. “Or am I working for Izana for my health now?”
Obi clucks his tongue, unceremoniously dropping their bags in the hall. “Well sure, but you should be doing it the fun way.”
Her eyebrows climb up the short jaunt to her hairline. “Am I to take it that the ‘fun way’ is on my back?”
“Can’t think of many things that are more fun,” he laughs, like she should know, like at her age this is an experience they must be able to share. She pads down the hall after him, shoulder rounding over her cross arms. Clearly she’s had the opportunity. Six years in a relationship; anyone else would have, but--
“At least,” he continues, words scattering her thoughts like crows on a wire, “you should be able to live off being pretty.”
She coughs out a laugh. “I think you have to be a good deal prettier than me to manage that.”
He hesitates at the end of the hall, natural light limning his long limbs, making him seem taller, broader than he is. His head turns, just enough to catch her in one eye, and the look he rakes up her--
“Maybe in this town,” he rasps.
Her hands fall numb against the twill of her trousers, and she begs them to do something, anything but lay there boneless; to reach out the scant space between them--
But the moment’s gone, quick as it starts.
“Ooh, look at this,” Obi says with a whistle. “There’s a kitchen.”
“The apartment had a kitchen too, you know.”
Obi barely looks up from the drawer he’s inspecting, fussing with something that looks both like a corkscrew and a garlic press. “Yeah but this one’s bigger. It’s got double ovens.”
“We already had double ovens,” she deadpans. “There’s only two of us, we don’t need a kitchen the size of--”
“Ooh,” he sighs rapturously, “there’s a gas range and a cook top.”
“What?” She scurries over beside him, playing a hand on the cold metal. Opa would have killed for a set up like this. “Oh, now that can make a lot of pancakes.”
“And bacon,” he adds, giving it a solid tap. “And check out that view.”
His arm snakes around her shoulders, turning her. “Wha--?”
Oh. Oh.
“The beach,” she murmurs, watching the surf crash against the rocks, right at her feet. Or beneath her feet, from how the cliff is shaped. “It’s right down there.”
“I bet it’s private,” Obi murmurs, voice rumbling against her ear. “Except for paparazzi and their telephoto lenses, of course.”
She waves him away, like a horse does with flies. “Beaches are public property, and trying to restrict access is wrong on an ethical level, never mind that--”
“Right, but consider,” he hums, batting away her hands and her protests, “that you don’t have to share it with anyone else.”
Well, he does have a point there. “But public beaches always have the best snack stands.”
“We can just bring our own snacks.” He waggles his eyebrows. “You could have one of your weird little veggie boards down there because you can just carry it.”
“There’s nothing weird about enjoying vegetables.” Her elbow prods at his side; it’s solid beneath the cotton of his button-down, barely flinching even when she nudges him square in the oblique. “You just have the palate of a kindergartner.”
Obi presses a scandalized hand to his chest, silk tie rumpling askew beneath his palm. “Please, Miss, you wound me. I select my snacks with no personal regard for health or authority, which is fourth grade at least.”
She bats away his hands to slip her fingers around the knot, tugging it straight. “You’ll eat hummus.”
“Because it tastes good with pita chips. Now, Miss...” He casts a quick glance toward the second floor, mouth already twitching. “Do you think our rooms are adjoined?”
Shirayuki blinks, trying to imagine a purpose for it. The guest house itself was mystery enough-- after all, any business partner Izana wanted to impress would stay at a property of their own, or failing that a hotel, somewhere they could guarantee no Wisteria would be listening when they went to decompress from the day. And a personal guest of Izana--
Well, all his family lived within driving distance. And his friends were...few and local, if his soirees were any indication. “Why would they be?”
“For old time’s sake.” His smile’s all trouble as he saunters to the stairs. “Just like Tanbarun.”
“Hopefully not just.” Although Shirayuki can firmly say that having the breaks cut at Vitsjo was the worst experience she’s ever had with a millionaire, a double kidnapping ranks somewhere in the top ten.
She nearly says so; the quip is hanging at the end of her lips, poised to jump. But she glances up first, just in time to see every muscle in Obi’s body gone stiff, his jaw locked tight and his gaze a hundred miles away.
No. Five years. His body might be here with her, standing in a guest house the size of her childhood home, but his mind is back there, in a room that’s empty and a balcony door hanging on its hinges.
“Obi...” she breathes.
His body jerks, like someone’s yanked all his strings, and when he turns his smile hangs wrong from his mouth, never quite reaching his eyes.
“I hope the beds are those big fuck off kind,” he says, words hurtling from him joylessly. “That seems like His Majesty’s style. The kind that can fit five people and all their emotional baggage.”
His knuckles are white where they wrap around the wrought-iron banister, clenched so hard she’s sure black will flake off when he moves it. She takes a single, painful step toward him. “Obi...”
“Oh dear,” a voice hum, pleasant and smooth like suede. “I’m so sorry to disappoint.”
Haki Arleon-- no, Haki Wisteria now, leans in the doorway, smile just as radiant as when all her billboards. “But they’re only kings.”
(“So when are we going to meet the lady of the hour?” Obi asks, tie already loose around his neck. His waistcoat’s still neat, pressed so it clings to the narrow curve of his torso, but his jacket’s well on the way out the door. It hardly makes sense; that’s what he wears usually, easy as breathing, but with two drinks in him it hangs limp on his shoulder, just asking to slide off them. “This mystery Mrs Wisteria.”
“Future Mrs Wisteria,” Mitsuhide corrects, tugging at his cuffs. “And you’re not strictly supposed to know that. This is just Ms Haruto’s retirement party.”
“Right, and her retirement plan is grandkids,” Obi huffs, scanning the ballroom. “So where is she? I want Miss to start murmuring to me about Punnett.”
“I would never.” Shirayuki wobbles on her heels-- too tall, but Kiki said that anything less than three inches would be informal in this crowd-- relaxing when Obi’s hand grips her elbow. “Besides, Punnett squares only work for Mendelian traits. Once you get into eye color there’s at least eight known alleles involved--”
Obi’s hand slides to her back, hot even through the silk of her dress. His eyes are the same, that molten honey they melts to when he’s been frequenting the open bar and-- and maybe it’s about time she quits her cosmopolitans too, if she only feels steady holding onto the hem of his waistcoat. “Save the pillow talk for the bedroom, Miss.”
Her teeth snick shut. She can’t remember what she was about to say anyway.
“If you’re so interested in seeing her--” Zen jerks his chin over to the head table where Izana sits, Haruto radiant beside him, wearing an inoffensive smile-- “she’s already over there.”
Obi cranes his neck-- well, they all do, but he’s the least subtle about it, not even trying to cover his gawking. “It’s all just some old fogies your family does business with and-- no way.” His head swings back, eyes round as saucers. “Are you kidding me?”
Shirayuki squints, and the blonde head to his other side resolves into a pretty woman, her smile twice as bright and a hundred times more genuine. It’s her the men are flocking around tonight, but she hovers at Izana’s side, a hair’s breadth away from touching. “Oh, isn’t that the woman who was running the funding drives at Lilias? Ah, what was her name...?”
Gold eyes fix on her, no longer molten honey but hard flashes of coin. “Haki Arleon?”
Silly of her to forget; she shook her hand and everything. “Oh! Yes, that sounds right.”
Kiki shakes her head. “Only you, Shirayuki...”
“Wha--?”
“That’s Haki Arleon,” Zen tells her, as if Obi hadn’t said it already. “She’s--”
“The top of Maxim’s Hot 100,” Obi offers, followed by Mitsuhide’s stern, “Obi!”
Zen sighs. “She’s Hollywood royalty.”
“One of the most famous actresses of the last decade,” Kiki continues at her blank look. “She won an Oscar at sixteen...?”
“Oh.” She certainly looks magazine perfect now, every fold of her dress laying just right along the curves of her body, not a pinch of mascara out of place. “I don’t really watch movies.”)
That Haki Arleon is not the one that stands before her now. Though to be fair, she’s not the same Shirayuki Lyon she was then, either.
“You’re here.” America’s Sweetheart slumps across their spotless hardwood floor, flopping onto the sectional. “Finally. Save me.”
(”Is this where you ask me to sign an NDA?” The limo’s hardly pulled away from the curb, but Shirayuki’s temper is already boiling, rattling the top of the pot. “Do I need to sign an affidavit to say nothing happened between us? Should I send the Inquirer a note about how I no longer exist?”
Izana hums, his annoyance a dangerous buzz beneath his tongue. “There’s no need to be quite so melodramatic, doctor.”
“Isn’t there?” She rattles the tabloid in her hand, every word from her mouth so waspish it could sting. “This is your work, isn’t it? You’re the reason--”
He leans, one long-fingered hand plucking the paper out of her grasp. “There are reasons more innumerable than I can mention as to why the future folded out into this particular pattern, but if you are accusing me of holding the scissors to my brother’s apron strings in order to gt my way, I must gladly disappoint you.”
Her whole body aches from the rictus she holds it in. “What are you trying to say?”
“I’m saying that I did not ask you into this car to talk about my brother’s inability to properly navigate his love life,” Izana replies, sour, one leg crossing sulkily over the other. “I asked you here to offer you a proposition.”
She takes in one deep, steeling breath, then another. “You’ll have to excuse me if I’m not interested in any of your--”
“It is a professional proposition,” he informs her swiftly, nipping her complains in the bud. “I would like to hire you. For...in-house care.”
“Are you ill?” For how much rage had been rattling in her bones for the last half hour, it’s strange how quickly it evaporates in the face of her concern. “Does Zen know? No, is it your mother--?”
He raises a hand, quieting her. “No, not me, nor my mother, though I appreciate your concern. It’s...” Izana may have his reputation as a man who mountains find impassive, but for a moment she sees it, true fear flashing across his eyes. “...My wife.”)
There is no photoshop perfection as Shirayuki kneels in front of her, fingers pressed to the racing pace of her pulse. “Are you sleeping?”
“A little.” Haki squirms under her touch, her body angled as much away from her as she can manage. “Some. Barely.”
“But you’re tired?” She’s wan underneath her natural tan, the sort of stark white that says anemia. Already Shirayuki’s riffling through panels in her head, wishing she had a phlebotomy department at her fingertips. Then again, maybe she does; she’ll have to ask Izana just how much medical care will be magically available to her. “Have you been keeping anything down?”
“Hm...” She coughs, delicate. “Yes?”
Haki might win awards for her acting, but it will take a better liar than that to fool her by omission. “Have you been eating?”
America’s Sweetheart gives a very unphotogenic grimace.
“I had a yogurt.” Shirayuki sits back, waiting for the list, but it doesn’t come. Instead Haki just slips from her grip, palms pressing into the cushions as she strives for a casual lean. “And some of that tea you sent me. That stuff’s been great.”
“Oh, that’s just-- it’s ginger tea.” She sits back on the cassock, waving off her praise. “With some lemon and a few other things. Nothing special.”
“Miss is being too humble,” Obi rumbles from his corner, slinking out to perch on the sofa’s arm. “She stayed up all night making that stuff.”
“It’s important to get the proportions right,” Shirayuki informs him, prim. “Both for effectiveness, and preg-- er....”
Haki’s brows raise, and for a moment, she looks just like her cover on Vogue, arch and pleased. “Well, I see that cat’s out of the bag.”
“Ah...” She sheepishly rubbed at her cheek. “Izana did mention it...”
(”You understand nothing I tell you can leave this car, correct?” Even in his vulnerability, Izana is implacable; an unmovable edifice between her and his loved ones, as unnecessary as it is. “We had only just heard the heartbeat before this all started, and if word were to get out and we...she...”
For once, Izana Wisteria flounders, at a loss. “It’s rare for a fetus to fail after seven weeks,” she offers, biting back the actual number. Five percent only seems low to people already in the other percentile. “A miscarriage--”
“Can’t ever get out.” He huffs, agitated. “I am aware that you do not follow celebrity gossip avidly, but my wife...”
Shirayuki had always been under the impression this had been an arrangement, something forged from good business sense and perhaps a hint of mutual trust. They’d grown up together, after all-- at least that’s what Zen whispered in her ear at the wedding, watching them sweep across the floor. But now--
Now he falters again. “Every moment of her life has been for public consumption, even her grief. I won’t give them this.”
If it were anyone else, Shirayuki would lean forward. She’d put her hand over theirs, giving a comforting squeeze as she told them just what they needed to hear, the way they needed to hear it. It was her gift, after all, knowing how to tell both the best and worst of news.
But instead she looks at him, steel in her spine, and tells him, “You won’t have to.”)
“I take it the vomiting is still frequent, then?” Shirayuki takes in the dark circles around her eyes, the dull sheen of her skin. “Even though you’re not eating.”
She at least has the grace to look abashed, caught out like she is. “I am...it’s just better when I don’t.”
Her palms tap absently on her knees, fingers wishing they had a keyboard to key entries into while she thought. “We’ll have to go over your full medical history before I make any recommendations, but you need fluids-- plenty of them.”
“I drink--”
“No, I mean IVs,” Shirayuki clarifies with a shake of head. “We’ll have to call the hospital, see if--”
“No hospitals.” Haki stares back at her firmly, unmoving. “That’s how the tabloids find you.”
“Izana mentioned that too.” She sighs, rubbing at her forehead. “We don’t really like doing IVs out of the hospital without some support staff, but I might be able to get someone to come out...”
Haki waves her hand. “Oh, don’t worry. Just ask for what you need, and Izana can get the hospital to make it happen.”
Oh, how she’d love to be a fly on Garrack’s wall for that conversation. “We’ll see. Until then, let’s just make sure you’re comfortable.”
Twelve hours later, Obi closes the sedan door after Haki, making sure the bucket is appropriately situated in her lap. “Comfortable, huh?”
She sighs. “It was a nice thought. You can get her to the hospital--?”
“Well.” His teeth flash white under the lamps. “I certainly know the way.”

Just came over from spiraling downhill. You’re writing is so lovely, I’ve beeen reading and rereading it for the past week or so. Maybe once I can get my thoughts more organized I’ll try and leave you a more detailed comment on what I love in particular over on ao3 but I struggle to put my thoughts to words on a regular basis as it is so uh. Basically, Kiryu’s inner monologue is very very fun to read and all you’re characters are written out in a way that makes them feel layered and lovely. Like a warm and flakey biscuit.
But anyway, if you’re still taking Drabble requests I’d love to see some more nishiki and haruka interactions. I think about the one we see from nishiki’s POV in his interlude a lot and how uh. Terribly it went. What does haruka think of nishiki exactly anyway? She distrusts him but he’s also clearly someone Yumi and Kiryu love. I just think that could be a fun thing to untangle or just take a glance at.
Thank you so much for this lovely ask <3 <3 I’m so sorry I took so long to reply to it,, but I’m so so happy that you enjoy Kiryu’s inner monologue. I always wonder if he’s a little too thoughtful in my fics, but I prefer leaning into Kiryu’s emotionally competent side.
And there is more of Haruka’s thoughts on Nishiki in the next chapter actually!!! It was supposed to happen last chapter, but Nishiki and Kiryu dominated that one. So instead, I’ll give you a snippet from a yakuza 3/4 AU in this universe that I’ve been idly daydreaming about! I keep thinking about a three-part structure of Nishiki + Haruka + Mine / Kiryu + Majima + Daigo / Yumi + Reina + Akiyama....anyway. I’ll probably never actually write that, but it haunts me anyway.
“Nishikiyama-san.”
Nishiki looks up from his paperwork with surprise. Kiryu’s kid doesn’t often come to him, even though Nishiki’s on kid-watching duty almost half the week, these days. She usually does homework and watches TV in the main room once she’s back from school. And sure, they exchange pleasantries when Nishiki gets up to get coffee and runs into her in the kitchen. They’ll talk about her classes, what takeout she wants for dinner, whether she needs money for some club-related expense. But it’s all casual stuff, polite things.
Nishiki knows that Haruka doesn’t trust him. Just as her relationship with Yumi’s been slightly wary since the events atop Millennium Tower, her relationship with Nishiki’s been strained ever since she’d first met him. He doesn’t begrudge her that, though. It’s a healthy thing for a kid to have grudges about life-threatening things. He’d held grudges against people for simply wearing similar clothes to him, back in the day. Kiryu’s ultimate peace is more unnerving than this quiet, normal resentment.
Still, they’d fallen into something of a habit of not really talking to each other when Kiryu wasn’t around, so her approaching him in his office with such a strangely determined look is unusual.
“Need something, kiddo?” Nishiki asks, putting away the paperwork.
“...yeah.” she says, after a long pause. There’s almost something shamefaced on her expression, and Nishiki’s curious. Kiryu’s never once really gotten angry with the kid, not in his earshot. He’s always open with her too, talking about his feelings and his reasons for his parenting decisions. Why isn’t she going to him with whatever this is?
“Well, I’m all ears.” Nishiki says, with a nod, gesturing for her to pull up the stool in the corner, so she can sit by his desk. She does so, and meets his gaze, brows furrowed, and lip tightly pressed together.
“I need your advice. There’s—well. There’s a group of kids at school who’re really mean to everybody from Sunflower. And me too, because you know. We don’t have normal families or nice new clothes or anything—and that’s fine! I don’t need that sort of stuff.” Haruka says, stumbling over her words, “But. It’s not fair for everybody to have to endure that sort of hardship. I want to...make them stop.”
Nishiki blinks. Bullying? Why wouldn’t she tell Kiryu?
If Kiryu knew that Haruka was being bullied, he’d puff up with outrage and rage towards the cool on a rampage path for justice by meeting every teacher until he extorted a promise from each of them to protect orphans—which would, of course, ironically guarantee that nothing would change, and that things might actually get worse. Right. Nishiki knows how school administrators think, and an ex-yakuza coming into the school and demanding what looks like “special treatment” won’t do anything but escalate the situation. There was a reason that Kazama had never stepped in with their school situation as children, and for all that the old man had been a shitty father, he’d understood those optical politics well.
Haruka’s come to Nishiki not because she trusts him more than Kiryu, but because she knows Kiryu’s approach isn’t useful. She wants Nishiki’s help.
“That’s difficult.” Nishiki agrees, pressing a hand to his face, briefly, “It’s hard to get bullies to stop. You’ve told the teachers, I presume?”
Haruka nods. “But they won’t do anything! Kanae-chan’s dad’s on the school board. And Erina-chan’s one of the top students. Her group can’t do anything wrong!”
“So, you want something else?” Nishiki asks, and at Haruka’s miserable, fervent nod, Nishiki feels his own righteous fury rise in his chest. Even if he’d briefly entertained the thought of simply telling her to toughen up, he can’t now. “Some things never change. We always used to get bullied at school too. And the one thing I know about bullies is that they don’t stop unless they’re scared to act up. But you can’t just punch them into submission, it doesn’t work like that.”
He remembers all too vividly the pitched battle he and Kiryu had upheld against their bullies in high school. The endless fights, the stealing and hiding of possessions, the name-calling, the taunting, the vandalism of the orphanage—it had never mattered what cruelties rich children with nice, neat families said or did, though. The image of chinpira punks like Nishiki and Kiryu in their second-hand clothes, bruises all over their cheeks, always won out. Nobody had ever believed their claims of protecting themselves, nobody had believed their claims of self-defence. All fighting back had done was paint themselves in the image of evil.
“...so, what do I do then?” asks Haruka, and even though Nishiki knows that Kiryu’s not her real Father, the stubborn set of her jaw looks <i>so</i> much like him. He shouldn’t do this. These sorts of tactics aren’t the sorts of things to be used against children, in Kiryu’s clear-cut world. But Nishiki knows how cruel children can be, how deep those wounds in your heart can slice.
Haruka is Yumi and Kiryu’s charm, their bright hopes for the future. He can’t let her get hurt like they all had been. He doesn’t want her to be hurt like they had been.
“You ever heard of the ghost of Rukia-san?” asks Nishiki, casually. When Haruka shakes her head, he explains. “Rukia was a bullied student, small, helpless, weak, and everybody laughed at her and called her names and pushed her around. One day, they took things a bit too far. When they shoved her head in the toilet, they drowned her...the bullies managed to pretend it was an accident, but Rukia-san’s ghost knew better. Filled with righteous rage, she wreaked havoc upon the bullies, one by one, until they came clean and thoroughly repented for their crimes. Not satisfied with this, her ghost haunts the hallways of other schools now, looking to torment other vicious bullies...”
Haruka’s eyes narrow. “Is that a real thing?”
“No.” Nishiki says, with an immediate scoff. “But you want the bullies to believe it’s real. If you fight back yourselves, they can tell the teachers. But if what looks like supernatural events occur, with no way to pin it on you or any of the Sunflower Kids, what the fuck are they going to say? They can’t tell on anybody.”
The kid looks interested now, any hint of wariness has vanished from her frame as she leans closer, clearly intrigued. “So....how would I pull that off?”
“First, you’d want to get them nice and paranoid. Is there somewhere that’s both private and public? Your bullies hang out in the bathroom much? You’ve got to tell some of the other kids this ghost story, and then do a summoning ritual, very publicly. To make it look like it worked...I dunno. We can get you something with static electricity, so everybody’s hair stands on end, like she’s in the room. Or you can get a classmate to pour water everywhere. Or you have some fake blood somewhere. Point is—you get the bullies a bit paranoid. They might roll their eyes, call it fake, but a part of them will be thinking about it, no doubt.”
Nishiki lays it out, carefully, like he is planning a coup. Haruka’s eyes are wide, completely rapturous. “Yeah, they hang out in the bathroom sometimes.” Haruka agrees.
“Then, once you’ve set that up, it’s time to let the chaos ramp up. Stick insects or frogs in their seats, leave them threatening letters, have strange voices and rattling around where they are—pull as many pranks as possible.” Nishiki explains, “But this is the key: you have to pull this off as a group, and you have to have group alibis. The bullies might try to accuse you, but if a different person does every prank, and all you orphanage kids hang out together, it’ll be hard for them to figure who’s doing it. You need a completely united front from all your friends.”
Most of the teachers had always treated most of the kids at Sunflower like a faceless, voiceless horde. If that characterization persists, Haruka using that stereotype to her own advantage will be critical.
Haruka’s brows furrow, thoughtfully. “Not all of them will like this...I don’t know if Sakuno or Shika would be up for it.”
Nishiki looks at Haruka, and shrugs. “That’s difficult. But ultimately, you have to ask your friends whether their own sense of morality is going to prevent them from protecting the younger children. This isn’t kind or righteous or something that will feel good. But the bullies will leave you alone. A fear of consequences is one of the only reasons that bullies stop. And since the school will never impose consequences on rich students, supernatural consequences might be the only way.”
Haruka looks down, and her hands clasp together. “I want to protect everybody.” she says, finally, her voice solidifying with conviction. “Nishikiyama-san. Please help me.”
Nishiki can’t help be grin, as he leans forward to ruffle her hair. “It’ll be my pleasure.”
And her answering, hesitant smile is like being blessed with sunshine after years of rain. Nishiki had never thought much about children, even after Kiryu’s insistence that they look after Haruka, but he thinks he gets it a bit now. Haruka’s smile is a mirror image of Yuko’s and his heart aches, and he cannot help but feel wistfully happy anyway.
He failed Yuko. He can’t fail this girl.
[....]
Uncle Nishikiyama finally enters the small antechamber where he’d deposited Haruka and her DS two hours ago, deep circles under his eyes. He and Uncle Kaz always look so tired these days, busy with things they don’t often tell her about. Still, there’s a slightly kind look to his eyes as he removes his cufflinks and rolls up his sleeves.
“Hey kiddo,” he says, with a yawn, “Want to get some ice-cream?”
“Mmmm.” Haruka agrees, easily, “Can we get one of those big strawberry parfaits? We can split it!”
Uncle Nishikiyama agrees and tilts his head towards the door. Haruka presses the save button, snaps the DS shut, and follows after him. She holds her hand up automatically, before remembering that Uncle Nishikiyama doesn’t really ever hold her hand or touch her. To her surprise, though, he takes her hand. Maybe he’s even more tired than he looks, because there’s an almost surprised expression to his face when her fingers close around his warm hands.
Haruka, who has become something of a master at saying something sweet when things get awkward, smile widely. “Did the meeting go okay?”
Uncle Nishikiyama nods, absently, turning his gaze back towards the evening streets of Kamurocho. “Yeah, just some urgent problems with supply. Had to move some things around and yell at some people. Easily enough solved.”
“Mmm, sounds boring.” Haruka says, wrinkling up her nose, and she delights in the fact that it wrenches a laugh from him.
“You don’t know the half of it.” he says, darkly, “How was your game? Did you do well?”
Haruka shrugs. Even though Uncle Nishikiyama has a gigantic plushie of Bulbasaur in his bedroom, he doesn’t really seem to know anything about Pokémon. She wonders if maybe he’d had a kid who’d liked Pokémon, but the fact that Uncle Nishikiyama doesn’t talk about other children and seems to get tense when Haruka tries to play with the Bulbasaur makes Haruka think that she probably shouldn’t pry any further. Something tragic’s there.
Haruka’s come to realize everybody has something tragic, something in their past that makes them hurt and feel pain, and the kindest thing you can do for people is to simply be there for them when it hurts, and not dig too deep.
“It’s okay,” she answers noncommittally, instead, “I beat Whitney, but I have to wait until tomorrow for the bug-catching contest in this region.”
Uncle Nishikiyama just nods, not especially interested, but not especially bored either. “When you’re close to finishing this game, let me now, and I’ll get you another one, okay?” he asks, pulling them in to the fancy French café just by the Millennium Tower.
“Thanks!” she says, with a wide grin, as they sit down and look at the menu to order.
She doesn’t know what to make of Uncle Nishikiyama, really. He’s a strange man, to whom violence comes far too easily, but he’s quiet these days, in a contemplative way that reminds her more of Uncle Kaz. He likes meat and fancy food and expensive clothes, but he’ll also join her in watching idol shows and reality dramas on TV, if he’s not got paperwork to do. He has a quick temper and gets mad easily, but is also pacified easily, and when he’s in a good mood, he’ll give everybody lavish presents. And he’d helped her too. There’s a clever shrewdness and unyielding determination whenever he helps Haruka and the Sunflower kids plot about how to get the bullies to leave them alone. She appreciates that kindness, that ruthlessness, even as it occasionally scares her.
And, the fact of the matter is, he’s at home way more than Uncle Kaz is, these days. Which is an automatic plus in Haruka’s book.
“You look a hundred miles away.” Uncle Nishikiyama says, with an amused smile. “What’s wrong?”
Haruka shakes her head and buries her worries and annoyance and irritation with Uncle Kaz and her Mum and everybody who she loves but never seems to have enough time with her. She’s sensible enough to understand that you treasure the people that are here with you. No use crying over spilt milk—even if she really wants to. “Nothing, really. Just thinking about how much I want to do karaoke.”
Nishikiyama gives her a look. “Isn’t it a schoolnight?”
Haruka returns the look firmly. She wouldn’t have had the courage to do this two months ago, when she’d first tried to properly ask Uncle Nishikiyama for help, but now, she knows him better. He’s a familiar evil. Easily bargained with, if you know the right leverage. “You’re the one who took me to Kamurocho on a schoolnight. Besides, I did all my homework already, while I was waiting for you to finish your boring meeting.”
Nishikiyama’s lips quirk up at the sides and he props up his chin in his hands with a sparkle in his eyes. “What’s in it for me if I take you to karaoke?”
“You get to sing too!” Haruka says, and then quickly realizing that’s not enough, she smiles angelically, “And you’ll get the best, most enthusiastic backup cheering that you’ll ever hear!”
Nishikiyama nods, firmly. “That’s more like it.” he says, and grins, broad and amused. “Attagirl. You’ll be ready for anything in no time.”
There’s such a fierce fondness to that absent-minded compliment and Haruka can’t help but beam at him. She’ll love whoever will have her, and as long as Uncle Nishikiyama will spend time with her, she’ll take him. Evil or not.

______________________________________________________________ Daddy! Subaru x Mama! Reader Part One: (4 pages)
You gave Subaru something he never believed he would be fortunate enough - or deserving enough - to attain. You had given him that, which he was convinced he was unworthy of.
A family.
You had given Subaru Sakamaki a chance. A chance to have what he never did in his childhood - a loving, proper family.
And he loved you. He loved you so much more than you would ever know - he loved you more than he could ever be able to effectively convey.
It was hard to believe, now, that your daughter’s third birthday was fast approaching. If you’d told him eight years ago that he would even get the chance to fall in love - he would have bitterly scoffed and demanded you leave him alone - or else.
He still had no idea how he got so incredibly lucky, but he was glad for it. So, so very glad.
With ruby eyes, Subaru observed as you ran about the Rose Garden with your beloved daughter. You had named her Haruka Christa Sakamaki. It had been your suggestion to name her after his mother - a choice he’d been reluctant with, but eventually agreed on - his mother had been far from a saint. in fact, she scarred him psychologically for life, but at the same time he could never bring himself to hate the woman who had given him life; even if she then abused and neglected that life.
She was his mother and he loved her, and he always would - despite it all.
And, if anything - it only served to further the fire of hatred in his heart for his father. He often wondered what life could have been like, had Karlheinz died when he was young. It was without a doubt that if Karlheinz had died when the brothers were still young, they would likely had had significantly better relationships with each other.
Life would have been so much better if only his father had been out of the picture completely.
“Subaru?”
Your tender loving voice snapped the albino out of his troubled thoughts. His gaze fell upon you and just like every single day of your lives, merely looking at you took his breath away.  “Are you okay?”
He turned to look at you with smiling eyes. “Yes,” He responded, “I’m just...thinking.”
You were about to ask what was troubling him, but Haruka’s voice interrupted you “Daddy!! Mama!!”
You smiled, “Here’s my baby!” You exclaimed, crouching down with open arms, the wind blowing through your hair ever-so-gently as your two-and-a-half-year-old daughter ran into your arms. You wrapped your arms around her and picked her up, bouncing her softly up and down.
To Subaru, the entire scene was out of a dream. Something that had always felt so foreign and distant - and now, it was here and it was his.
You were his moon - the one who had helped him through the darkest of nights, who was always there when he needed you - even if he couldn’t see you - and who lit his way when all felt hopeless and lost to ensure he could stay on the right path.
And Haruka was the stars in his vanilla sky. She was his beautiful, bouncing baby and he adored her - and you - both of you were his sky - his world. At this point he could never fathom an existence devoid of either you or your daughter, even imagining such a thing was far too raw and painful for him.
Recurring nightmares haunted his mind for weeks on end on a regular basis - terrible dreams where you were both taken from him - slaughtered mercilessly in front of his very eyes. It killed him a little more each time to witness, if only in dream form.
But right now - his Moon and his Star - were here, beside him, safe from any harm. As it should be.
“Daddy!!” Haruka exclaimed, and he now realised that she was holding a crown made of flowers in her tiny hands, wriggling in her mother’s embrace to get closer to him. It was also at this point Subaru acknowledged the bountiful crown of petals and leaves perched upon your own head, as well as his beloved daughter’s.
If Subaru from the past - brash, abrasive and cold - could see the man he’s become...well, he wasn’t sure whether he’d be pissed, impressed, embarrassed or grateful.
Shows him how much he’s changed to himself, huh?
His heart fluttered as an involuntary laugh escaped him and allowed his daughter to place the crown of flowers on top of his head. His body language was awkward and stiff, which caused you to let out a loud giggle.
Haruka clapped her petite hands as soon as Subaru lifted his head, the flower crown making him look terribly pleasant.
He was still not quite...used to things like this. It felt strange - in the best of ways, of course, and though he feared he would never fully get into the flow, he wouldn’t change this for the world.
“You look very beautiful, King Subaru.” You teased with challenging, amused eyes, knowing fully well that your remark would cause him embarrassment.
Subaru glared at you for a moment, then sighed, loosening the muscles in his face, the blush contrasting with his pale complexion.
Eight years he’s known you - and somehow even after all this time, you managed to make him flustered.
He still had troubles with himself - often - times he’d breakdown in front of you, screaming for you to get away from him, to leave him - it was only natural after all he’d been through and being raised to believe himself a monstrous being.
But you stayed by his side and he knew, even in times of sorrow-clouded doubt, that you would remain right there, beside him, until the end of time - because you had proven yourself and your love for his time and time again and after all that you had been through together he knew that your love was an unconditional one. Haruka was the very embodiment of that pure, unconditional love.
“Daddy looks pretty!!” She squealed out in joy,  beaming with laughter, and you laughed, too, and Subaru smiled - a true, real smile; one he thought impossible until he met you. You changed his entire universe and now you created an emblem of hope for him from the seeds of your womb.
You thought for a moment, and then gently handed your child to him. Even now, Subaru still feared to hold her just as he had fretted over it when she was a newborn. It was endearing, but these days you were beginning to get sick of it. “You won’t drop her,” You whispered into his ear as you transferred the bouncing baby girl into his arms, smiling reassuringly. You had to bite back your laughter when he held her as if she were made of glass - he always held her like she was the world’s most fragile little thing. And you mused to yourself that, in his eyes, she probably was.
The way he looked down at her as he held her, cooing and whispering sweet promises to her about how he would protect her from harm and always keep her safe warmed your heart and was almost enough to make you cry.
You loved your husband so, so much. ______________________________________________________________
Subaru begrudgingly wore the flower crown for the rest of that night, alongside you and Haruka, who insisted on it. You’d helped her to create them, teaching her methods of folding the flowers over each other and securing them into harmonic knots. Due to her young age and unskilled hands, you’d been the one to do most of the work when creating them and she observed you, but you told her that she’d been a huge help because you knew that she loved helping others. A surely wonderful trait for a toddler to have - you could only pray to the powers that be that you would be good parents to her.
So far, so good, though.
When it was time to tuck Haruka into bed, Subaru offered to do it. You smiled and agreed as you brushed your hair in front of the vanity table in your shared bedroom and waited no longer than a minute before placing the brush down and hurrying out to the corridor to silently watch from the shadows.
You leaned your figure against the door frame of Haruka’s bedroom, smiling with teary eyes as you witnessed Subaru singing to her a lullaby that you assumed Christa had sung to him when he was a baby - before it all came crashing down. You’d only heard him hum and sing on a few scarce occasions, so this was a big deal since he always felt humiliated and embarrassed by doing something so...flamboyant as singing.
The gentle expression on his face made a tear drip from your eye down our cheek, because he was so beautiful - they both were - and this was your life and it was perfect. There were difficulties and eternal danger looming over you - but you couldn’t care about that at the moment, not when you had the most astonishing family in the world here with you.
It was a futile attempt to blink back your tears, for they fell like silent waterfalls the moment you saw Haruka’s little eyelids fluttering shut and saw Subaru kiss her little forehead goodnight. He leaned back and stood from the corner of her bed, tucking her in, his entire attention upon her.
He then touched the flower crown with the tips of his fingers, taking it off just to stare at it for several moments.
And then he kissed the petals, too, and proudly placed it back upon his head. When he returned to your bedroom, you had a feeling he would take it off and place it on his bedside table or your vanity whilst acting as though you had forced him to wear it unwillingly (in a joking manner, of course) but you knew, like you always did, that he loved every second of today.
Sneaking off before he could hear or sense you, you returned to your room, smiling contently as you sat in your chair, staring at your reflection with pure, unadulterated happiness.
