the problem with mainstream fictional media today is it is predominantly made for people who don't like fictional media all that much

hey so... everyone knows Kabru is the opposite of Laios, but nobody talks about how the rest of their party members are also opposed,
scab criminal Mickbell against unionized worker Chilchuck
dogboy against catgirl
Rin the outlaw mage who hasn't actually done anything wrong against Marcille the highborn upper class mage who's secretly a necromancer
Dia the dwarf who distrusts dungeons against Senshi the naturalist who's lived in dungeons for decades
Holm the support mage who uses other creatures as a shield against Falin the cleric with a martyr complex

So you know of other fairytale-theme school medias?
oh yeah, there's a few! the one I was thinking of specifically was Ever After High; I was mostly into the dolls, but I also really liked the webseries and the Shannon Hale novels! Apple was my definitely my favorite. 🍎

😂 🔁 💯 From the fic rec ask game!
3.) 😂 A fic that made you laugh out loud
Caulk Dirty to Me by @leewritingrecs. Lee absolutely balances both the hottest tension between Obi and Shirayuki while also making both their POVs screamingly funny. Shirayuki has no idea how to handle physical attraction and Obi is just constantly suffering during his stint of trying to be the goodest boy, and the first chapter alone had me covering my face from the way Shirayuki UTTERLY misunderstands what this hot plumber has been hired for.
2.) 🔁 A fic you’ve re-read several times
Tumblr media
Seven Nights by @bubblesthemonsterartist. I refuse to explain myself.
7.) 💯 A fic that makes you think #writergoals
Arcana by rosa_acicularis. I came out of Sherlock mostly shipping agnositc, but I was recommended this Witch!Watson genderbend AU MANY years ago, and I go back to it at least a couple times a year. Once of the things I struggle with most as an author is making breathable magic systems, and this really hits the sort folk magic I wish came naturally to me.

i think an uncomfortable truth is that there is an inherent arrogance one has to overcome after spending too much time alone, which is not so obvious when it's forced (i.e. through ostracism) because the assumption is that someone who has been ostracized is more likely to lack confidence and thinks poorly of themselves. but then there's this dance between victimhood and low self-esteem yet also subconsciously believing that your own view or daily decisions are "correct" or "better" because you've never had anyone tell you otherwise, because you've been alone. and in addition have gotten used to being extremely independent and considering others' input doesn't even occur to you. so when others DO provide feedback, it's almost jarring, like you don't have a behavioral pathway with which to respond or receive the feedback so you just respond with irritation because your system is confused

YES YES I NEED THIS SIGN IN EVERY SINGLE PARK PLEASE
This is my daily struggle, I had so many arguments with people with off-leash dogs (in a mandatory leash area!!!). Thanks to this behavior I'm struggling with Kim being anxious/aggressive with other females as she often gets involved in unpleased interactions with free females while on leash. And every single time that I ask for the dog to be at least recalled, I'm being called names and insulted of course.
Also 9 out of 10 their dog isn't really that friendly at all.

I've met him in person btw and he's a fucking sweetheart
Tumblr media
[ID: Text-intensive Twitter thread from the Shapeshifters chest binders Twitter account in reply to a post by artist and author Ursula Vernon. Vernon says, A non-zero number of you apparently did not know that The Last Unicorn was a book before it was a movie. It is by Peter S. Beagle. It is made of spun glass and fairytales and iron knives and there are individual lines that I would give my lungs to have written. Shapechangers replies, I saw him every year at NYCC for several years straight, bought something at his table, asked him to sign it, and we spoke. He remembered me from year to year, no small feat at that con. He remembered which stories he'd told me. One year I came back with a different gender on. He squinted at me a bit and said thoughtfully, "I've seen you before in this place." All I had to say was, "last year you told me the story about the inoshishi." And his face cleared, and he leaned in with a grin and told me about a German guitarist who he traveled with, twice. Who transitioned between the first and second time, so he'd gotten to meet this person all over again on the second round. It was a wonderfully kind way to let me know that everything was fine. I was fresh out of the closet and I needed that, and maybe he could see it. The Last Unicorn is the best book in the world and I will defend it and its author til I die. the end. /end ID]
I don't usually talk about celebrities; artists, when I do, and I'm keenly aware that one needn't be a good person to be a hell of a heartwrenching artist. But Peter S. Beagle has written a few of my favorite things in the world, he's an excellent singer and filker, and this Twitter thread was dreadfully important to me. I don't want it going away as Twitter becomes Shitter, because it's so often bad news, isn't it? It's important to me to share trans joy.
