Saying you can host Thanksgiving when you're the planner in your relationship and you work in a retail-adjacent career is really just digging your own grave.

notes: this is a bit of a filler chapter but we’re setting up some future plot points okay!! stick with me please!! i swear there will be some really good drama in the next chapter. thank you @javiscigarette ,my love, for beta reading and also helping me come up with the most diabolical plot ideas for this fic xo. and thank you @ilovepedro for reading this chapter over for me and giving me some input ilysm bby<3
A few days have passed since your date with Tommy, and the kiss. You knew it was wrong, you only kissed him to try and get back at Joel. At least that’s what you’re trying to convince yourself. You haven’t seen either of the brothers since that night, and Tommy only reached out to see how you were feeling the next day.
You decided to make plans with your friends tonight after they wouldn’t stop bugging you for an update on the mystery man from your night out. As you leave to meet them for dinner and drinks, your eyes linger on Joel’s house noticing that his truck isn’t in the driveway tonight.
You picked up Dee first, then Aya and started to make your way downtown. You all agreed to have dinner at your favorite local restaurant, the Attic.
“You have to tell us, did you ever see him again!?” Aya asks. “We’re dying to know.”
You let out a small laugh before answering. “I think I need a drink before I can get into it.” You let out a sigh, drifting off into thoughts of that night in the bar and meeting Joel for the first time. You see the two of them exchange a look from the corner of your eye before their gaze falls back on you.
“That bad?” Dee asks hesitantly.
You purse your lips and push the thoughts to the back of your head as you pull into a parking spot. “Yeah, that bad.”
“I haven’t been here in ages,” Aya states as you put the car in park.
“Me either.” you glance back at her in the rear view mirror and smile, grabbing your purse and unbuckling before reaching for the door handle.
You step out and meet them at the back of the car before walking towards the restaurant. The sun is setting and the air is starting to cool down now as the three of you walk towards the entrance. The host seats you at a booth against the back wall of the restaurant and you all settle in, taking a look at the drink menu.
“How's the new job?” Aya asks as you all flip through the menu.
“Well,” you're unsure how to start. “It’s not bad, I actually work tomorrow night.” You know that you'll have to tell them about Joel showing up at your job with a date at some point, just not right now. “What about you guys?”
“Nothing really new or exciting…” Dee starts before the waiter comes to the table to ask your drink order.
The three of you order margaritas to start and the waiter brings out chips with your drinks. You chat for a couple minutes, sipping on your drinks as you finalize your orders. After you're a little more than halfway through your first drinks he comes back to take your food orders, and you finally feel ready to talk. You can tell they've been trying not to bring it up ever since you sat down.
“Okay, are you ready?” you smile at them letting out a small laugh.
“Yes, I can't wait any longer.” Aya huffs dramatically as she rolls her eyes in a joking manner. “So you saw him again?”
You laugh and take a deep breath before answering. “Yeah, I did see him again.” you look down at your drink and play with your straw as you wait for their next question.
“Okay and? How did it go?” Dee asks excitedly.
“Did you find out his name? Did he take you out?” Aya adds in eagerly.
“Well, um,” you glance back up at them. “Not exactly.” you let out a nervous laugh as they both stare back at you in anticipation. “I saw him again at dinner… at my dads house.”
Both of their eyes shoot open wide in surprise. “What do you mean?” Aya asks cautiously.
“It turns out he's my dads best friend… and neighbor.” you pause, giving them a moment to process before you continue. “My dad had told me that he invited his friend over for Sunday night dinner, I never met him before this, and when he walked in it was him. The mystery man.” You take a deep breath. “His name’s joel.”
“Oh my god.” Dee says, mouth falling open.
“That's not even the worst of it.” They just stare at you in silence as you prepare for the next part. “After we had dinner we talked a bit and, uh,” you take another sip of your drink before going on, trying to calm your nerves. “We had sex.”
You get interrupted by the waiter bringing out your food. Both girls are still in shock as the waiter sets your plates down. “Thank you.” you mutter as he steps away.
Once he’s gone, Dee finally speaks. “Did I hear you correctly?” she's just staring at you.
“Yeah, we had sex… behind my fathers house.” They both blink at you. “I told him before it happened that I understood if he didn't want to see me again, that if he wanted to end things it was okay with me. I mean the last thing I expected was for him to be my dads new best friend, but he said he didn't want to end things.” you sigh.
“So you guys are like, seeing each other now?” Aya asks, finishing off her margarita.
You bite at your lip and let out a stiff laugh. “No, we're not.” you clear your throat and grab your fork. “We made plans for later that week before he came over that night, but he ghosted me after Sunday night dinner.” You take a bite of your food.
“Oh my… You're joking right?” Dee scoffs. You swallow your food and shake your head. “What the fuck…”
“Yeah so that happened.” You rub your cheek, thinking before you tell them the next part. “Then the first night at my new job his brother, Tommy, came into the diner and we were talking for a bit. Maybe 30 minutes later Joel walks in. With a girl.” You look up at them, both completely invested in your story. “So I confronted him about ghosting me, we argued, he kissed me, and then his brother asked me out…”
Dee almost spits out her drink after the last part. “This is insane, did you go out with his brother?”
“Yeah, you're telling me.” You take a sip of your drink, finishing it off. “I did, and he’s really sweet. Picked me up, taught me how to play pool,” you find yourself smiling. “but Joel was there.”
“Is this guy just everywhere? My god.” Aya adds in.
You chuckle at her comment. “We talked again that night. He was flirting with another girl at the bar but when I went outside to get some air he followed me.” You stop, zoning out for a moment. The memory floods back as you retell the story. “It’s weird, I feel some kind of pull towards him but… I don’t know. I think he’s just a player. Actually, I know he is. It was just a fuck to him, those were his own words.”
“God… sounds like an asshole to me,” Aya rolls her eyes and glances over at Dee. “Tell us more about his brother, what was his name?” She takes another bite.
“Tommy,” you smile while saying his name. “Yeah um, I ended up kissing him at the end of our date.”
“You kissed him?” Dee’s eyes practically pop out of her head. “Damn.” She shakes her head in disbelief.
“Yeah yeah,” you wave your hand in front of you. “It was wrong I know, I think part of me only did it to make Joel jealous.” You look away, a bit embarrassed after admitting that.
“Well what did Tommy say after the kiss?” Aya asks, resting her elbows on the table and leaning in closer. “Was it a good kiss?”
“Well first I apologized on the drive home because the kiss was a little abrupt, but it was good. He said it was okay that I kissed him.” You bite at your lip. “He hasn’t really reached out since then though, only to check on me the next day, and neither have I.”
“Why not? It seems like he’s actually into you.” Dee says.
“Unlike his brother.” Aya shoots you a glance. “I say forget about Joel and go for his brother.”
“I’m just not sure if I like him like that, it would be wrong to lead him on.” You play with your fork while you think about what Aya just said.
“You’ve only gone out with him once, how do you know for sure you’re not into him?” She shrugs.
“I guess you’re right.” You hum. “I don’t know though.”
“Just think about it.” Aya shoots you a devious smile.
You laugh, putting your fork down and placing your hands on your lap. “I’ll be right back guys.”
You get up from the booth and start towards the restroom, you really just need a breather after spilling all of that. You walk past a handful of booths feeling a little tipsy as you go, then turn down the hallway and push open the black door to the bathroom. You step in and walk towards the row of sinks lined in front of a mirror, staring at yourself in the reflection before turning on the water. As you run your hands under the water and grab some soap, your eyes stay on your reflection and you take a deep breath.
I can’t believe I just told them all of that, you think to yourself. It all feels unreal. You’ll probably take their advice and text Tommy back tonight, they did have a point. He’s into you and Joel isn’t, that’s just the facts.
You reach to turn off the water and grab a paper towel before taking one last look at yourself in the mirror. You  throw the paper towel into the waste bin and reach for the door handle. As soon as you step into the hallway you run into someone nearly falling over before they grab your arms, catching you as you place your hands on their chest.
“Woah there.” You’d recognize that voice anywhere. You look up to find Joel Miller holding you against him.
“Joel!” You immediately pull back, releasing yourself from his grip. “Hi-”
He was the last person you were expecting to see, especially after you were just calling him a player to your friends over dinner. What were the odds of him being here at the same time as you, you know that you live in the same town but it’s like you can’t escape him.
“Hey.” He offers you a small smile and glances down the hallway. “What are you doin’ here?” His eyes fall back on you as he waits for an answer.
“Um, I’m having dinner with some friends,” you straighten yourself out, suddenly feeling nervous. “Girls night.” You take a deep breath and his scent fills your senses.
“Hm. Nice.” You look back up at him, preparing to walk back to your friends when he takes a step closer to you. He runs a hand through his hair before speaking again, and your heart leaps into your throat. “Hey uh, I’ve been wanting to talk to you actually-“
You take a small step back from him, panicking and trying to keep a fair distance between the two of you. “Maybe another time, Joel. I gotta get back.” His face falls as you turn back towards the end of the hallway and make your way back to the booth.
What makes him think you would honestly want to talk to him,what would he even have to say? You don't care anyway. As you walk back you frantically glance around the restaurant. You’re assuming Joel’s here on another date until your eyes land on Tommy sitting in a booth diagonal from yours and a little further down. His back is to you and Sarah is there as well. Shit. Both brothers are here. You get to your booth, turning around and sliding into your seat as quickly as possible.
“Guys, don’t make a big scene please.” You slouch down in your seat. “Joel’s here with Tommy and his daughter, I just ran into him while leaving the bathroom.”
“Where?” They both lean in closer.
“Behind me, to your left.” As soon as you finish saying it, Aya’s head snaps towards the table. Dee waits a moment before also glancing their way. “Aya!” You smack her hand playfully. “I said don’t make a scene.”
“Oh my god!” She whispers, eyes still locked on Tommy sitting at the booth. “His brother is gorgeous.” She smirks.
While Dee and Aya ogle at Tommy, you notice Joel walking back. His eyes lock onto yours immediately as you watch him make his way to Tommy. You can’t imagine what he wanted to talk to you about, there’s nothing to even talk about. And if he wants to talk about what happened with Tommy, it’s none of his business anyway. Once Joel walks past you, you snap out of it and look back at Aya and Dee.
Aya leans in and whispers. “That’s Joel?” She looks past you at the booth where they’re all sitting and you nod to confirm. “Wow, they’re both gorgeous.” She smirks, looking back at you.
“Oh god.” Dee snaps her head back towards you. “They saw us.”
“Are you serious?” You slowly turn to look towards the booth and both brothers are looking towards you. “Fuck.” You turn back in shock to look at the girls again. This can’t be happening.
“It’s okay, what’s the worst that could happen?” Dee says, causing you to let out a nervous laugh.
“Guys, I need to get out of here.” Your chest is starting to feel tight, they both definitely saw you.
The waiter walks past and Aya flags him over to the table. “We’re ready for the check please.” She smiles up at him before he walks away.
You start to dig in your purse for some cash as the waiter comes back and sets the check on your table. Immediately you set your cash on top of the check and wait for the two girls to do the same, then you feel a presence beside you. Aya looks up behind you, eyes going wide and you turn to see what she’s looking at. You find Tommy Miller standing to your right, one hand in his pocket as he smiles down at you.
“Hi.” He says softly.
“Tommy.” You’re breathless. “Hi, what are you doing here?” You’re trying your best to sound genuine.
“Just out to dinner with Joel and Sarah.” He glances at your two friends and back to you.
“Oh uh, Tommy these are my friends Aya and Dee.” You turn towards them. “This is my neighbor, Tommy.”  You raise your brows at them and they both give him a small wave. You turn back towards him and he nods in their direction before giving you his attention. “We’re just having a girls night, we were about to leave.” You smile.
“Nice, well uh,” his hand rubs at the back of his neck. “Text me when you get home? I mean, only if you want…”
“Yeah, I will.” You clutch your purse as he smiles down at you again.
He looks at your friends again. “Nice to meet you ladies.” He winks at you before walking back towards the booth where Joel and Sarah are seated.
You let out a deep sigh and glance over your shoulder as Tommy walks back. Joel’s staring at you, a deep crease between his brows as he watches you, eyes falling on Tommy as he scoots into the booth. Tommy turns around to look your way one last time and your eyes meet for a moment.
“Let’s get out of here,” you turn to the girls. “Please.”
You all get up from the booth and you practically sprint out of there. As you open the door to go outside, Aya’s arm loops around yours and she lets out a little shriek.
“What a heartthrob! You better text him when you get home.” She leans into you and you all laugh as you approach the car.
“I will.” You give her a genuine smile before walking towards the driver's side and pulling open your door.
Tumblr media
After dropping off Dee and Aya, you find yourself thinking about Joel as you pull into your driveway. Your skin tingles as you think about the way he grabbed you when you ran into him, and the way he watched you as he walked past you keeps replaying in your mind.
Your phone vibrates as you put your car in park, you grab your purse and dig around for it. Tommy had told you to text him when he got home, you’re assuming he decided to text you instead. When you pull out your phone, the message that pops up on the screen isn’t from Tommy. It’s from Joel.
Hey, I was really hoping we could talk. Maybe tomorrow night? If you’re free.
You scoff at the text, ignoring it as you unlock your phone and immediately go to your messages to text Tommy.
Hi, are you free on Friday?
You send it before you can overthink it and bite at your nail before grabbing your purse from the seat beside you, then you feel your phone go off again. You eagerly open the message from Tommy.
Yeah, let me take you out. I’ll pick you up around 8.
A smile spreads across your face as you read the message, and the comments your friends made at dinner play through your head again. He’s actually into you, unlike Joel.
Perfect, see you then :)
You shove your phone back into your purse and reach for the car door. Once you step through your front door, you run up your stairs, a smile still plastered on your face from Tommy’s text. You close your bedroom door and throw your purse on your bed as you walk towards your window. As you grab your curtains to close them, you see Joel’s truck pulling into his driveway across the street.
You stand there frozen for a moment, watching as he parks the car. Sarah gets out first and Joel tosses her the keys as she runs to the front door, Joel closes the car door as he watches her. He lingers there for a moment, hand resting on his truck until Sarah is inside. As soon as the front door closes, Joel turns his head and looks towards your house. You just watch him from your window, hoping the darkness hides your silhouette. You swear you can almost see a hint of a smirk on his face as you pull your curtains shut.
That night your mind lingers towards thoughts of Joel until you fall asleep.

My trip to Taiwan
I took a break from posting because...I went to Taiwan! This was my first time going there, and I was mostly in Taipei. I had a great time and took many, many photos. I'll share some highlights here (along with commentary) to commemorate my trip.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Left: Liberty Square 自由廣場 Right: Chiang Kai-shek Memorial 中正紀念堂
You can't tell here, but there was a row of porta-potties directly to the left of the archway. That was a funny sight. There was also a stage in the middle of the square. Maybe they do outdoor concerts?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Left: Tamsui Old Street 淡水老街 Right: "Sidewalk"
Besides the main roads, most streets lacked raised sidewalks. Instead, they had a painted path. I had to get comfortable being very, very close to cars and other vehicles.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Left: Motorbike parking lot near Tamsui Old Street Right: Covered sidewalk.
I’ve seen motorbikes before in China, but Taipei took things to a new level. Motorbikes were absolutely everywhere. I even saw this parking lot exclusively for motorbikes. They rule the streets.
In the busy downtown districts, you often don’t need an umbrella due to the covered sidewalks. You can walk for blocks and blocks while staying covered. This was pretty convenient on rainy days.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Left: Jadeite Cabbage 翠玉白菜 at the National Palace Museum 國立故宮博物院 Right: Umbrella rack (also at the museum)
Confession—I didn't think the National Palace Museum was that good. Probably because I've been to the actual Forbidden City in Beijing. And sadly, the Meat-Shaped Stone wasn't on exhibit.
In the US, some stores will provide a plastic bag for your wet umbrella. In Taipei, many stores had a rack or basket outside instead. Most were not as secure or elaborate as the one pictured.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Left: Eslite Xinyi Store (bookstore) 誠品信義店 Right: Sun Yat-sen Memorial 國父紀念館
I bought a couple books and a Yoga Lin CD at the Eslite 24-hour bookstore. I only planned to swing by, but I think I spent 2 hours there. I definitely recommend checking it out if you're in Taipei.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Taipei 101 台北101
It was overcast when I went to Taipei 101, but the view was still nice. On the bright side, there was NO line. 101 is by far the tallest building around, so you really feel that you're looking down at the city.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Taroko National Park 太魯閣國家公園
Taroko was the only place I visited outside of the Taipei/New Taipei City area. It's in Hualien county on the east coast. There were so many betel nut stores in the countryside on the way there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Left: Pond at NTU 國立臺灣大學 Right: 228 Peace Memorial Park 二二八和平紀念公園
Taipei has the best parks! They really put American parks to shame. Before going, I didn't understand why so many Taipei parks are tourist destinations with 4.5+ star reviews, but now I totally get it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Elephant Mountain 象山
I didn’t realize how mountainous Taiwan is. Taipei is cradled by mountains, so there are many places to hike, even within city limits. I braved the rain for the famous view from Elephant Mountain.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Subway billboard 臺北捷運
The Taipei Metro/MRT was amazing. So fast, clean, frequent, and convenient. US subway systems are a joke in comparison. These are from an amusing series of billboards promoting riding etiquette.
Some other observations:
I was quite impressed by all of the English signage in Taipei. I think it would be very easy to navigate even if you don’t know Chinese. Many stores and small eateries had menus, signs, etc. in English.
I knew Taiwan had many convenience stores, but I was not prepared to see a Family Mart or 7/11 on every block. Someone needs to open this style convenience store in the US ASAP.
I saw numerous adds featuring Korean actors like Son Ye-jin and also kpop groups like IVE and NewJeans. I also heard kpop playing at various stores, whereas in America, I only hear it at Hmart.
I was struck by how many street signs and subway stops names used pinyin romanization. There was a lot of inconsistency and mixing of different romanization systems. For example, you have Taipei vs. Beitou (same character: 北).
There were many Japanese stores, pharmacies, and restaurants. Upon further consideration, this makes sense given Taiwan's history, but it stood out to me nonetheless.
Overall, I had a lovely time in (mostly) Taipei. As a big city (but not too big) surrounded by beautiful nature, there's something for everyone. I already want to go back! Of course I also want to see some other areas of Taiwan too. Maybe next year.

Love Bites pt. 2
When two worlds collide…
Baker Fem Reader x Toji Fushiguro
word ct: 15.1k, 11 Chapters
Preview: “I wasn’t joking about Megumi. He doesn’t smile often but he is one of the kindest kids in the class. He’s like a tiny adult. I think you’d like him.”
“Stop that! I barely know the man. I just—“
“You just add new items on the menu in the middle of the season for him to be the first one to try it. No big deal...”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chapter Two: Chimayo Chai
Much to your dismay Toji visited the shop at least once a week with the same order. He always wanted to eat two of everything and a new drink to try, a drink that you had to choose for him. Your routine was set to where you had his boxes already waiting for him by the time he came in.
“Can I ask you a question? Toji stops and stares down at you. You roll the ties of your apron around your fingers to try to calm yourself.
“Why do you order so much? I mean, you come in every week, but you don’t strike me as someone who has a sweet tooth.”
Once again Toji didn’t respond right away but you were used to it by now. Toji seemed to talk more when he was annoyed, so him being quiet was actually a good sign.
“I give them to my son and… coworkers.”
“You have a son?” you perk up. “I didn’t know you were married.”
“I’m not.”
You cringe at his response. You didn’t mean to bring up an unpleasant memory for him but you could never seem to talk to him normally.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that. I- Here’s your drink,” you sigh and hand him the latest fall drink on their menu, which is a Chimayo Chai. You hold the drink out and he takes it, lingering for a moment before speaking again. “He doesn’t like sweets either. My son.”
Your eyebrows knit together at his confession. “So it’s mainly just your coworkers who like sweets?”
Toji nods and finally takes the tea from over the counter. “They won’t shut up about them.”
“I love to hear that. I’ve been meaning to try more sugar and gluten free recipes. Maybe then you can enjoy them too.” You gave him a soft smile and the word “cute” flashed in Toji’s mind. He couldn’t even remember the last time he used that word willingly. “Oh, one more thing,” you say. “Next week on this day I won’t be here. The shop will be closed actually,” you mutter quietly. The words make Toji’s grip tighten around his cup and he waits for her to continue.
“It’s just for one day! I’m telling you because you always come in on Thursdays so I wanted to give you a heads up. I’ll close earlier on Wednesday but Friday will be open during normal store hours,” you smile and push your glasses up.
“Why?”
You were hoping he wouldn’t ask that question. You really didn’t want to lie to him, but at the same time you didn’t have any idea who this man was, even if your interest in him piqued every time he walked in with his tieless suit and emotionless face.
“I’m… visiting family,” you acquiesce.
“For only a day?”
“Yes, that’s all I need.”
Thankfully another customer broke their conversation with an announcement of their own. “Hey you, feeling old yet?” You smile at your tall friend who reaches over the counter to give you a tight hug.
“My birthday’s next week, jackass. How have you been, Rina?”
“Now I have to be more creative with my learning plans to keep the kids focused on their school work,” Rina dramatically sighs and her eyes trails over to the man she brushed past to say hello to you and her eyes widens.
“Oh Mr. Fushiguro! Funny seeing you here!”
“You know him, Rina?” This was getting ridiculous. How could an elementary teacher know a man like Toji?
“I teach his son, Megumi. He’s an absolute sweetheart. Quiet, but smart. He also loves all things related to frogs. Did I interrupt your conversation?”
“No, not at all. I’m sure Mr. Toji has other things to attend to. I’ll see you next week? Or maybe not, but soon?”
“What drink is this again?” Toji looks down into the cup.
“Chimayo Chai. You’re the first person I’ve made it for so far since it’s new on the menu,” you beam. “Let me know what you think when I see you again, okay?”
Toji nods and leaves without another word and Rina slowly turns to you with a smile pulling at her lips.
“He’s single you know.”
“Rina.”
“And quite a catch. He shows up to all of Megumi’s events and the other PTA moms drool over him from a distance.”
“Rina…”
“I wasn’t joking about Megumi. He doesn’t smile often but he is one of the kindest kids in the class. He’s like a tiny adult. I think you’d like him.”
“Stop that! I barely know the man. I just—“
“You just add new items on the menu in the middle of the season for him to be the first one to try it. No big deal,” Rina smirks and pops a piece of a muffin that she grabbed off of a rack into her mouth.
“Shut up. And I'm charging you for that.”
“Yeah yeah. Anyway, be sure to get ready for the school’s fall festival. Who knows, maybe Mr. Fushiguro will be there too.”
So I read @aughtpunk 's cotl forgiveness au in like 2 days and now I'm hyperfocusing on it. I just keep thinking of cute little things. Particularly between Shaun and kallamar. Aughtpunk probably shouldn't read this.
Like they have regular are-we-still-engaged chess matches. The first time kallamar wins, they regretfully tell the others the engagement is off. Most everyone is like, you were engaged?? How?? Since when?????? The next day they're engaged again. It great and not at all confusing. Pretty soon no one is sure if the engagement is even real or not. Don't ask kallamar, he's not 100% sure either. Like they play games to see who's responsible for the flowers or menu decisions but is it real? Half the group is sure it isn't until it's the night before the wedding and Holy shit this is actually happening wtf and Shaun is just so disappointed in them. Kallamar is too, right my love? Kallamar is like, yeah, I can't believe they doubted the seriousness of this situation. Internally he's screaming. Shaun also didn't think it was that serious but over time he got sick of people shit talking kallamar to his face so he was like, now I gotta marry him in the biggest most amazing wedding ever. I just gotta.
I also just like the idea that they would use games to settle most disagreements. They watch eachothers strategies and moods to figure out how serious they need to be. If it's a lighthearted thing then they joke the whole time and whoever wins, wins. Gg. If it's something more important to one than the other then they give a good game but let that person win since clearly this is a significant matter. If it's an important matter to both, they use the game as something of a distraction. I can't kill you for not understanding exactly where I'm coming from by magically reading my mind if I'm too busy trying to figure out if the move you just made is even legal. By the end of the match, whomever wins, it comes out as more of a compromise.
They do have this problem where if they don't have a clear goal for a game, it can escalate into terrible ends. Like Shaun makes a flirty double entendre about calamari, kallamar says something gross about cannibalism, suddenly its 3 am, they're in the kitchen with heket who is waaaay too happy about cooking some of her brother's flesh with the intention of giving it to his ex-fiancee to eat (shaun being grossed out by cannibalism made him lose), and questioning all of their life choices.
Oh and after wedding thought. Shaun asks narinder for a life flower (that what I've been calling them in my head). Narinder is grossed out but Shaun gives this whole speech about how they aren't gonna use it now, he just wants to show kallamar that he did notice that he wasnt sure how serious he was about the wedding but he is very serious about wanting to have this life together with him and growing their family together. Narinder does reluctantly give him a flower. Little while later kallamar asks for the same thing. His explanation is a little more based in logic. They've talked about children before and he's probably gonna be the one carrying them so it just makes sense for him to have the flower. Everyone is like aww they're gonna present these flowers to eachother and it's gonna be cute or something. Meanwhile kallamar is confirming that he and his husband aren't needed for anything else tonight and maybe the flower might work if brewed into a tea but eh it's better to not chance it and just. Fucking. Eats it. Right there. Infront of God (poor jake) and everybody. Did his husband see that? No, of course not. That would prevent any miscommunication drama. It's like, dude, did you guys plan on that or...? And kallamar is like, we've had some of the most important discussions about this already, I fail to see why we can't start trying now. And then he leaves to go spend his wedding with Shaun in private and now the whole family has no idea what to do with themselves. They did not need this information.
I also have thoughts for their kids. First set is twins. They are cute. They look like normal lambs just tinted blue. At first. They actually have tendrils they hide amongst their wool. They're also good at team hunting. If you see the both of them, it's safe. If you only see one, it's a distraction, turn around, you are being ambushed.
These are just fun little thoughts I had. Feel free to ignore me.
Daycare Snacks Vash AU Part 4
Hi everyone! I’m so sorry for taking long with this! This might be a little more longer than the others and a bit more in depth. Honestly, I wrote this based on one of my dates when I first started going out with my partner. Also I’m going to make this a 2 parter just because I think the next one will be a bit longer. Hope y’all like it!
Tumblr media
“Liz, I need your help. What do I do and what do I wear for tomorrow?” he pleaded.
“Don’t worry Vash, I’ll tell ya,” Liz said as she smiled knowing part of her plan was in motion.
~*~
It was a cool Autumn Saturday, the day you and Vash try out that cafe. You wore a comfy knit sweater, pants, and ankle boots that all tied in together. You preferred to be comfortable and stylish for today, and you couldn’t contain your excitement for today. Not only were you going to try delicious sweets and drinks, but you were going to hang out with Vash outside of the daycare. You couldn’t tell which was making you more excited, as your mind decided to wander off.
‘What was Vash like on his off days?’
‘How would he feel about trying things with you?’
‘This is the first time you’re hanging out with him only.’
The last thought made you stop in your tracks as you slightly got a bit red over the idea.
“Come on y/n, you’re literally just hanging out with one of the sweetest and funniest person at work. No big deal right?” you talked to yourself as you kept walking.
You were interrupted by your train of thought with your phone vibrating. You checked to see you got a message from Vash.
“I’m outside the cafe in a red jacket! :)” it read.
‘So he’s just as expressive through text as he is in real life,’ you thought smiling.
You messaged him earlier to have a light breakfast and that you would meet him outside the cafe at 10am. You mainly wanted to try the desserts since that was what the place was known for.
You kept walking around while looking  for that familiar tall blonde man in red.
After looking for a bit, your eyes finally found Vash but you had to look again when you noticed what he was wearing
He was standing by the cafe near a lamp post. He had his usual orange shades, but you noticed how he wore a gold hoop earring on one ear. You also noticed how he was wearing a leather red jacket that adorned his black fitting turtleneck with black pants. combat boots. You gazed at him from afar, just in awe of his whole look. You knew he was good looking, but seeing him right now, good looking is an understatement. Were you even sure this was the same person you worked with? You felt your cheeks grow hot and your heart slightly race at the sight of him. Just how is he this beautiful?
You snapped out of your thoughts and calmed yourself down taking a few deep breathes before walking over to him.
“Hi there! Hope I didn’t keep you waiting!” you called out to him.
He looked at you and flashed that smile you grew to love as he walked towards you.
“Hey y/n! Not at all! You look great today! I mean you look great every time I see you. It’s just you look especially great today,” Vash complimented you as you returned the smile.
“Thanks, you do too! I wasn’t sure if it was really you or some model,” you said, then realizing what you actually just said out loud a little too late.
“Ahaha, stop this old thing? This is how I usually dress when I’m not at work. But honestly I could say the same for you,” he said looking a bit flustered.
“Oh stop, you’re too kind,” you told him immediately feeling a blush creeping on your cheeks.
“Oh yeah, are you ready to go inside?” you asked remembering what you came here for.
“For sure! Wouldn’t miss it for the world,” he replied as you both walked side by side towards the cafe host.
“Good morning, do you have a reservation?” the host asked.
“Yes! I have a reservation for two under y/n” you told him while showing the confirmation email on your phone.
“Ah right this way,” he said while grabbing a few menus and brought you inside.
The minute you walked in, you were in awe of the interior design. The ceiling looked like it was a wisteria tree with pastel leaves and petals hanging down. The wallpaper inside was a lavender color with gold accents with a few mirrors hanging from the side. The tables were marble with lavender chairs and booths that looked comfy to sit on. You were in for a treat. The host brought you to a booth and placed down the menus.
“Your waitress will be right with you. Please enjoy and let us know if you need anything,” he said as he went back outside to bring more people in.
“This place looks so cool!” Vash said as he was taking everything in.
“Yeah! It’s one of the reasons I’ve been wanting to come here. Which, I cannot thank you enough for coming with me last minute,” you said as you were truly grateful.
“Hey, it’s my pleasure y/n. So what’s the other reason you wanted to come here?” he asked giving you his full attention with his stunning blue eyes.
“Check out the menu,” you told him with an eager smile.
He looked and you could tell the minute his eyes widened, you knew exactly what he was looking at.
“NO” he said.
“Yes,” you replied.
The menu had shakes that were served in mason jars that was pleasing to the eye from top to bottom, along with pancakes that could satisfy any sweet tooth. Furthermore, they offered a range of sweet and savory crepes that you could customize along. As for their drink menu, they had a variety of coffees, lattes, teas, boba that came in iced or hot. Lastly, they had their dessert menu with small tarts, cakes, pastries, and their special donuts. They had a sample flight of donuts that came with the flavors: ube, matcha, strawberry, and churro.
“Please tell me we’re going to get that,” Vash asked as he looked at you.
“What do you take me for? Of course we’re going to get it. Feel free to order anything you like,” you reassured him as your waitress came by.
“Hi you two! My name is Mari and I’ll be your server for today. Anything I can get you two started with?” she asked.
“Could I get an iced strawberry matcha latte please along with your donut flight sampler?” you asked.
“I’ll have an iced americano along with the donut flight sampler please,” Vash requested as the waitress took down your order.
“Okay! I’ll be right back with those,” she said as she walked off.
“So how did you find out about this place?” Vash asked.
“I like to go try new places, specifically cafes. When I was in college, I couldn’t focus studying at the apartments or library. When I go to cafes, I tend to get lost in whatever I’m reading or studying and lose track of time. I’m not exactly from here, so I like to explore and get out of my apartment when I can. There’s something about cafes that makes me feel comfortable, you know?” you explained.
“Definitely, so that’s the kind of person you are. You mind if I ask what you studied?” he asked.
“I majored in Child Education with a minor in Public Health and Epidemiology. How about you?” you asked.
“I did Anthropology and Child education,” he answered.
“That’s cool! What made you drawn to that?” you questioned.
“I think’s its interesting how humans act and behave. Especially how they tend to grow up depending on what they’re surrounded by. Plus, I'm great with kids. There’s something about them having that endless curiosity and how fast they pick up things,” he explained.
“Oh definitely! They’re like little sponges, and they’re pretty smart on an emotional level. Sometimes we overlook that part, and-” you added.
Before you could continue, your waitress brought your drinks and the donuts you requested.
“Oh and since you ordered the latte, it comes with these heart glasses. It’s just something we do for the weekends,” she mentioned while handing over the item.
“Oh cool! Thank you!” you told her.
“Let me know if you need anything else,” she added and walked away.
“Again, I can’t believe you found this place,” Vash added as he looked at the drinks and food.
“Me either, I’m just glad you could join me,” you replied as you put on the glasses.
“How do I look?” you ask.
“Stylishly pink, now we both have cool shades,” he answered as you chuckled and moved your glasses to rest on the crown of your head.
You grabbed your latte and raised it towards Vash.
“Cheers to a fun weekend with great company?” you asked.
He lifted his americano drink to you as he gave you an endearing smile.
“Cheers to that,” he replied as you clinked your drinks.
You both took a sip and savored the flavors with each gulp.
“How do you like your drink?” you asked.
“It’s pretty good! Oh, which donut do you want to try? We can split it if you like,” he asked.
“Oh um, can I try the strawberry one?” you pointed out as he split the donut in half as best as he could.
“One for me and one for you,” he commented while handing you your half as you thanked him.
You took a bit of your half and your face just lit up with how sweet and fluffy each bite was. You let out a small ‘mmm’ in delight that you thought no one caught. Little did you know, Vash did as he couldn’t help but think you were the cutest thing in front of him right now. He had his right hand holding one side of his face as he enjoyed your little burst of happiness.
“Good huh?” he asked as you nodded a bit too excited.
“I’m so glad I was able to get a reservation for this place,” you commented and started finishing the rest of your half.
Vash just chuckled at your actions as he kept eating his portion, offering you to try another one of the donuts from the plate.
“Okay, so I think I’ll try the ube one next. Oh, before I forget, you said you wanted to explore a park today right?” you mentioned.
“Oh we don’t have to y/n. I think this is more exciting than a park,” he commented as he was splitting the next donut in half.
“No I want to! Ever since I moved here for college, I never got a chance to explore the parks or shopping strips in this area. I kinda rely on the bus system here since I don’t have a car. And if I wanted to go explore a bit farther, I didn’t really have anyone to go with me. So I’m kinda limited to things,” you explained looking a bit embarrassed admitting that last detail while he handed you your next half.
“Well if that’s the case, there’s actually a few parks close to us, and one of them happens to be a scenic route,” he added as he pulled up his phone.
“Really? That would be so cool! I do want to check one out for today. It’s the least I can do since I feel bad that I took up some of your plans for the weekend, without considering-” you said midway.
“y/n, you asked and I accepted for a reason. I wanted you to be able to enjoy today since you were looking forward to it a long time. You don’t have to apologize about anything. I’m just happy I'm able to do this for you. Plus, my weekend is already starting out pretty great than what I originally planned,” Vash explained as he looked at you with a soft smile.
You couldn’t help but look at him and what he told you just now. For the longest time you grew up trying not to impose on people. If you got too excited, you sometimes didn’t think if the person was really okay with your plans. Yet, Vash was telling you it’s okay, and that he was just happy to be here with you. You felt warm and gazed at Vash fondly. Just what was it about him that made you feel this way?
“Vash, thanks a million. I mean it,” you told him with a blush tinting your cheeks as his eyes slightly widened. He slightly looked away from you as you saw a bit of pink creeping on his ears.
“No worries, let’s finish up here so we can move on yeah?” he commented as you agreed.
You tried out the rest of the pastries and sipped happily with your drink. Everything was down right delicious and sweet and you both finished everything in silence. But this was a comfortable silence, not the agonizing kind. Heck you both looked content with each other every time you caught glimpses of him.
“So how was everything?” your waitress came back with a smile.
“Perfect, everything was delicious,” Vash commented while you agreed with him.
“Love to hear it. Well here’s your check whenever you’re ready,” she held the bill.
Before you can even reach for your wallet, Vash already handed her his card as you stood there shocked. The waitress took it before you could even get a word in.
“Vash, but I invit-”
“I can cover it, and you can cover the next time if you can beat me. Besides it feels wrong if I let you pay,” he explained.
“But I invited you, you’re my guest,” you retorted.
“Then beat me next time,” Vash simply answered as he raised his eyebrow a bit with a smirk you couldn’t even wipe off. His shades changed to where you couldn’t see his eyes but your own reflection staring at you.
“Fine, you win this time,” you sighed and pouted at your little loss looking away from him.
Once your waitress came back, you both walked out from the cafe to see other people waiting in line for their turn to dine in.
“Okay, so now that I got what I wanted out of the way, we can go to the park?” you asked looking at him.
“Yeah, I can lead the way. But you did say you never explored the shopping area right?” Vashed asked.
“Oh, I mean yeah..” you confirmed.
“Why not check it out? Might as well since we’re in the area,” he reasoned.
“Yeah, but your plans,” you reasoned.
“Hey, the parks are nearby anyway. And we still have a lot of time on our hands if you’re not busy doing anything else?” Vash added.
“No, all I had today was this with you,” you replied.
“So let’s explore,” he finished as he grabbed your hand while you looked at him.
This man remembered a small detail you mentioned and was enabling you to be a little bit selfish.
"Okay, lead the way,” you said as he guided with that smile you adored.
Vash was practically showing you parts of the outdoor mall that he was familiar with. He pointed out which places had the best snacks, trinkets, and some shortcuts he still uses to get around. While you walked, you stopped in your tracks when you saw a small photo booth on the way. You hadn’t seen one in a while ever since you moved out from your hometown. You missed taking photos with your friends and doing silly poses and collecting the small photo strips.
“Hello? Earth to y/n?” Vash asked.
“Oh sorry! We can keep going,” you apologized as he looked at what made you stop.
“Did you want to go try the photo booth?” he asked.
“No it’s okay we don’t have to,” you waved off not wanting to bother him.
“But do you want to? Because I don’t mind,” he asked further as you looked at him and back at the photo booth.
“I do,” you said a bit shy.
“Then let’s go,” he replied as you made your way inside with a small smile spreading across your face.
You inserted the coins once you had the chance and sat with him.
“Okay, so which poses should we do first?” he asked.
“Oh! A hero pose!” you suggested as the camera got ready and you both adjusted yourselves. You did the Sailor Moon pose while he did the Kamehameha pose. The camera flashed as you both relaxed.
“Okay a cool one,” he suggested as he made his hands look like a gun and you did the same. You liked the concept. The camera flashed again as you relaxed once more.
“Oh I know!” you suggested as you removed his glasses and put it on yourself as you gave him your heart glasses.
“Peace sign this time,” you suggested as you posed with both hands.
He did the same except his peace sign was different from yours. He crossed his index and middle fingers. The camera flashed and you looked at him.
“What kind of peace sign is that?’ you asked looking at him with a small chuckle.
“Oh it’s my peace and love sign,” he explained flashing it to you once more.
“You’re silly and I love it. Like this right?” you told him as you chuckled mirroring the same pose to him.
“Yeah that’s it,” he said laughing along as he did your peace signs. You didn’t even bother looking at the camera. You both faced each other just enjoying one another as the camera caught that moment.
“All done! Your photos will be done shortly!” the machine told you. You removed his shades and put it back on him, adjusting it where needed. Meanwhile he took off your heart glasses and placed them back on your head as best as you could. You didn’t realize how gentle he was with his fingertips and the care he put in to make sure you were comfortable.
The machine printed two photo strips you just took and handed Vash his copy.
“One for me, one for you," you commented as you looked at the photos.
You loved how each one came out. Each photo captured your personalities perfectly, but your favorite had to be the last two shots. You were grateful that you got to capture those moments with him. You were absolutely going to keep this somewhere in your wallet or hang it at home as you put the photo away in your bag.
“Thanks again Vash! I’m ready to move on!” you beamed as he put away his photo strip in his coat pocket.
You two walked around more as you noticed other pop up shops you spotted that you would go check out later in the future. There were even some specialty shops that carried specific clothes, collectables, and other items you could think of. But you both stopped at one particular area that Vash led you to.
“Sorry, but I wanted to show you the arcade I like going to. It brings me back when my brother and I used to play here,” Vash commented as he looked at you.
“You have a brother?” you asked.
“Yeah, a twin brother. But you won’t see him much. He’s studying abroad right now. Plus, we don’t come here as much since he hardly plays with me whenever I offer,” he explained as you understood Vash a little more.
“Well, you’re in luck because I love arcades. We can play if you want?” you offered.
“Really?” he asked.
“Of course! I’m not really good at some games, but what matters is we’re having fun right? Plus it’s better playing together right?” you mentioned as you saw his face light up.
“Right, thanks y/n,” he said as he led you inside the neon lit area with all sorts of sounds coming from each machine. You walked around trying to look for a good game where you can both play together. You then stopped Vash as you pointed at a zombie shooting game.
“Let’s try that one!” you said as you led him to it.
There was someone playing, but you figured he was almost done playing. Sure enough he died and you were getting ready to play. Except, the guy continued playing another round until he died again.
“Excuse me! It’s our turn to play,” you spoke up to him.
“So, you’re just going to waste a round. Just wait until I’m done,” he argued.
“We’ve been waiting for 5 minutes already, it’s our turn,” you added.
“Go play some other game that you’re actually good at,” he chuckled as he was about to play again.
You were getting annoyed and ready to throw hands until Vash put his hand on you.
“Hey, my friend and I want to play. You’ve already had your turn. Can we please play a round?” Vash asked as you looked at him.
“Ugh, if you’re that desperate. Then one of you beat me at this game,” the guy offered.
You couldn’t believe the nerve of this guy and what he was saying. Before you could speak up, Vash grabbed the gun and put in a couple of quarters.
“Gladly,” he commented as he readied himself.
You looked at him, wondering what he was thinking, but Vash looked back at you and winked. You were caught off guard, wondering what he was going to do but watched as the two guys readied themselves.
“Good luck loser,” the other guy commented as the game started.
Both guys were shooting at the zombies, but you noticed that Vash was killing them off at a faster pace compared to the other guy. Heck, even when he was reloading he only took one second before going back to his killing streak. You noticed the other guy was struggling to keep up as Vash was effortlessly increasing his combo. You just stood there in awe at what was happening before you until time ran out. Both scores appeared on the screen and Vash was the clear winner with his score being more than double the amount the guy had.
“Ugh, whatever this game is rigged anyway,” the guy said as he put back the gun and left.
“Well now we have the game to ourselves,” Vash commented as he looked at you but noticed you were staring at him.
“Uh everything o-”
“Vash, that’s probably one of the coolest things you did right there,” you complimented as he laughed and rubbed the back of his head.
“Oh this is nothing. I’ve just had a lot of practice with first person shooter games,” he explained grateful that the dark lighting hid his blush.
“Still that was so cool how you did all that! I didn’t know I had an amazing partner to play with,” you commented as you grabbed the arcade gun ready to play.
Oh you had no idea how much you were stroking Vash’s ego right now.
“Ready when you are,” you said as you selected the co-op choice on the screen.
You clearly weren’t as good as he was, but in your defense you hadn’t played in a long time. Plus, you were just happy to play alongside with Vash.
“Wow, look at you go! Do you think you could give me some pointers on how to do better?” you asked while looking at him. You checked to see if anyone was waiting for a turn behind you both. Thankfully there was no one so you had another quick round to play before moving on. You inserted a few more quarters and readied yourself once more.
“Oh sure, here I’ll show you,” Vash offered as he stood behind you while his hands touched yours as you held the toy gun.
Your heart was racing once you felt his touch. You could feel his palms had some callouses but he held your hands delicately as he positioned your aim.
“Okay so it’s all about which target is coming at you first and where to hit. It’s easier to hit the chest but it takes longer to knock them out. If you aim for the head, it should be easier to finish them off but you need to be precise on your aim. As for the reload, you don’t have to move alot. You just slightly move your gun away from the screen, pull the trigger and there you go. You’re back at full ammo again,” he explained as he guided you with each step. You could feel his breath tickle the back of your neck as you were turning red. You did your best to calm down and follow his steps. Eventually you got the hang of it and started finding a good pace.
“See there you go,” he commented as you finished off a few more zombies than last time and saw your final score improved a bit.
“That was so much fun! What other games should we play next?” you asked as he led you around the arcade more. You eventually tried out a few other co-op games like Mortal Combat, Mario Kart, and Street Fighter. You both shared a few wins and losses. But overall, you were both having fun and passed at least 3 hours in the arcade.
“I haven’t had that much fun in so long!” Vash said as he was smiling from ear to ear.
“Well if you ever want to play again or need a Player 2 just let me know,” you told him as you both walked out from there.
“You mean it?” he asked.
“Yeah! Just hope the bus is still running,” you added.
“Or I can just pick you up?” Vash offered as you looked at him.
“You don’t mind?” you asked.
“Yeah, you can ask me for a ride if you ever need anything. Now that we have each other’s numbers,” he brought up as you realized that fact. He can practically contact you any time. Again, how were you this lucky to know him?
“I’ll think about it,” you said as you smirked at the idea. If you weren’t truly bothering him, it flattered you that he was offering.
“So park time right?” you asked.
“Yes, but we’ll need my car,” he said as he pulled out his keys.
“Oh? We’re riding there now? I thought you said it’s nearby?” you asked.
“Yeah, we can walk there, but you’ll see why we need the car,” he said as he flashed you a smile.
Please let me know what you think and look forward to the next part of this! :)
DRABBLE: Betrayal
Tumblr media
Part ◾1 🖤 2 🖤 3 ◾
Pairing : Jimin x reader
Genre: hurt/comfort, yandere(soft) not very obvious in this one
Tumblr media
The music thrummed through the walls of the club.
You stood outside the bathroom waiting for one of your friends. Your other friends were either already seated or enjoying the themelves on the dance floor. It was your friends birthday and she had invited you to the party. They also planned to surprise ther other friend with a custom cake and gifts because they missed her birthday.
They didn't get one for mine. your brain cruelly supplies.
Instead Jimin came knocking at your door exactly twelve 'o' clock, with a boquet and a cake and balloons. If it were any other day you wouldn't let him inside your house. You would ask him where he got your address even if you knew finding things about you was just a piece of cake for him.
"Are you ok?" your friend Momo asks as she takes a look at your face.
"I am fine." you reply politely.
Lights kept flashing. Blue, Red, Green ; brightening the cave like atmosphere of the place. You take a seat. The menu is passed round so everyone can select what they want to order. After placing the order. Everyone decides to go to the roof for pictures. The roof is airy. The weather is cloudy but you put on your brightest smile... so that nobody notices. The waiter calls you as the food is served. You try eating but you can only pick on your meal. Which you really shouldn't considering you'd technically paid for it. The gifts and cake were pricey afterall.
The meal ends and the waiter brings the surprise cake. Sulli smiles brightlyy plesantly surprised and you cant help but envy her. Your friend Sora nudges you and you take out the hand made scrapbook you'd pulled an all nighter on.. even though it was supposed to be a group project. You wonder why you invest so much when you get barely anything in return.
"I'm sorry something came up."you tell your hosts."I had a lot of fun see you later."
"Should I drop you?" Sora asks since she was your ride.
"I'll manage." You reply
Staying any longer felt unbearable.You sit on the stairs at the entrance of the club. Removing your high heels from your aching feet, you didnt know what possessed you to wear them.
Drops fell one by one, then all at once.
You clench your fist. Your nails pressing painfully on your palms.
You take out your phone to check the time and book a cab. You are ready to throw your phone when it reads unavailable.
You wonder if the buses will work.
You make a run to the nearest bus stop. You sit at the bus stop drenched. Even more uncomfortable than before.
You tug your jacket closer feeling uncomfortable at the men staring at you unashamed. Their smoking makes you nauseous for some reason.
You look to check the time again.
Your phone rings and you almost drop it.
"Hello." You say answering the call.
"Hi angel. I didn't think you'd answer my call."
"Mmh... what do you want?" Your voice is but a whimper for some reason.
"Can't I say I miss you?"
"You're my boss Jimin."
"So if I wasn't would you give me a chance." He questions.
"I dont know." There is silence on the line. "Actually I was just thinking about you... I uh.."
"I'm listening angel you have all my attention."
"It's Nothing." You say before you sneeze.
"Hmm I couldn't hear you doll are you outside?"
"Yes ... it was a birthday.. one of my friends had invited us."
"Do you need a ride home?" He asks.
"No its fine. I dont even know why I'm talking to my boss on the weekend."
"Come on I'll drop you. You're alone right.. Its dangerous for such a beautiful girl to be out. Send me your location now I'll be there."
You couldn't help but feel flattered. That Jimin would drop whatever he was doing for you at a moments notice. It was insane. The stark contrast of people in your life. On one hand were your friends and then there was Jimin.
You sighed. You were too tired to think. And cold. Anything seemed better than the pathetic state you were in.
As his sleek car rolls up you realise how much of a mess you were. You were surely dripping and probably ruined your makeup and hair.
The cars honk makes you get up.
The window rolls down revealing Jimin.
"I'm wet. I'll dirty it." You tell him.
"It's fine come in." He says urging you inside.
You sit and put the seat belt on when he hands you a towel.
"How?" You question without realising.
"I was shopping for home essentials for my guest room."
"Oh."You say grateful to the universe.
Jimin turns on the heater.
You open the mirror on the passenger seat to find luckily you don't look too bad.
The car ride is silent. Gentle music playing in the background so it's not awkward and before you realise it you fell asleep.
Jimin gently rouses you.
"Y/n. Angel. We're here."
You sneeze in response and are rewarded with Jimins sonorous laughter.
"Where are we?" You ask confused.
"Outside my apartment. It was closer. If you stay damp any longer you'll catch a cold. And we can't have that can we?"
Before you can answer he's dragging you along.
The building is luxurious to say the least. It looks straight out of a magazine. He leads you to the lift and up you go. The glass lift gives the night view and you can't help but admire it.
The lift opens into a hallway. Jimin unlocks his door with the press of a thumb.
The apartment is like the rest of the building sparkling and shiny.
Jimin pulls out some home slippers for you.
"Why don't you take a shower? I have some clothes that might fit."
You nod the bathroom is so clean that you're afraid to dirty it but you notice a yellow chick towel and it's a bit out of place but it makes you feel comfortable.
The jet spray is so good along with the perfect temperature of water that you never want to get out, but you're feet are aching.
So you get out and dry your hair and wear the soft cotton pajama set Jimin gave you.
As you near the drawing room you can hear sounds in the kitchen.
"Jimin.." you call.
"Here." He replies. His hair is wet too. He looks soft like a boba ball.
"Take a seat. It's almost ready. I thought it would be nice to have a snack."
You take a look around his house and soft a round sofa bed with fluffy pillows and you decide you want to try it.
You sit on it and wrap the sofa rug around yourself and stare outside. The view is spectacular with the glass walls. You wonder if you'd be able to have something like this if you want to.
Jimin brings two glasses of mojito and a plate of fried rice and dumplings to share.
"Dig in."
"Thank you for the meal." You say before eating a dumpling and it's perfect.
"You're a good cook."
You take a sip of the mojito and the fresh mint leaves make it refreshing.
"Do you want to watch something?" Jimin asks.
You shrug busy with your meal and he feels the urge to shuffle your hair.
He puts on a movie he's sure you like.
"Have you seen this?" You ask.
"Yes, it's one my favourites." He replies.
And maybe it's something about the night, that all your doors are open rather than closed.
What's one more betrayal after all.
Things I want to do in 2024
I've never been the type to make resolutions and I know we tend to put more weight on them than they actually are meant to have, hence why we never follow through with them. So! I am attempting to just make a list of things I am hoping to do in 2024. very low stakes. not going to think of these as goals, just things I want to do. and hope that I follow through with some of them.
Health-related
Planning my meals and keeping a food journal: I've been on a health journey for about the past year and I want to try to get back on track with that and be more consistent with it. I've been trying to be more consistent with preparing home cooked meals rather than relying on frozen meals/eating out, eating 3 meals a day etc, and that's been going well so far, but it could be better. I think one way to help myself be more consistent is planning my meals out (not like meal-prepping just literally being like this day I'm going to eat these things so I have a more structured "menu" vs throwing things together in my head the day of). I think I also want to start keeping a food journal. I peeped that iOS added a Journal app to the new software and I might try that out to see how useful it would be for food journaling, doing things like documenting my mood around the times I eat, what I eat etc.
Find a new dentist and start flossing: When I say I've been on a health journey over the last year I really mean in every possible way you can think of lol. Dental health was one of them. I've made a lot of improvements but I'm so prone to getting cavities that I think I could make a few more. I am one of the 60% of people who do not floss every day bc I found it hard/time-consuming/unnecessary. But I started doing it a couple weeks ago and... it wasn't so bad? I was pretty consistent with it until I went home for the holidays and that fell to crap bc I couldn't find the floss I had packed. anywho. I want to continue to be consistent with that and make that a habit, in addition to finding a new dentist bc the last one I saw was a bit too...assertive and I didn't like their staff so decided never to go back there again.
Personal/things that actually make me excited
Decorate my room: lol. Can you believe I've lived in my apt for two years and I've yet to decorate my room (even the bathroom has some stuff hung up on the walls). I literally have the decorations sitting in a pile by my bedroom door collecting dust. So yeah. I wanna actually do that. Tbf what stopped me before was that I wasn't confident I'd be able to stay in this apt for long. I thought for sure after a year they would jack up the price and I would be forced to move. But, we're now going on three years and things have been fine so I should actually properly decorate the place.
✨ Get a tattoo ✨ The sparkles are because this is probably the thing I'm most excited about on this list. I have wanted a tattoo for as long as I can remember. And I finally decided last year that I was going to say fuck it and get one. But unfortunately the finances weren't financing so it got delayed. But it's happening this year!! For sure!!! Hopefully in the next few months!! I need to stop delaying it and just do it!! So yeah. I've made my best friend keep me accountable each step of the way so I can stop procrastinating. So she gave me a deadline of Friday, 1/5 to at least have a list of tattoo artists I'm considering. We're doing this!!!
Actually leave my house and spend time in places I enjoy: Since my two closest friends moved away last year I haven't had a lot of incentive to go out and do things. So I've just been spending a lot of time at home by myself. And solitude is so nice. So comfortable. So blissful. But I need to end that. Or at least cut down on it a little. There are things I actively want to do in my city but every time the weekend comes I end up staying in my house doing nothing for 2 days straight. And it's been great. But I need to push myself to actually go out and do things by myself. Go to live music concerts, hang out at bookstores or coffee shops. Just something to have a change of pace and environment. I know I will be better for it. I'm gonna challenge myself to go out by myself at least once a month. If I do more? great. But we're starting small.
Writing-related
Track my writing: I'm not going to push myself to have word count goals or anything like that because I think that would be counter productive and take the fun out of writing for me. I actually wrote a lot last year (I just calculated it - 174, 817 words according to Scrivener; kinda insane can't remember the last time I wrote that much in a year) so I don't think I have issues with word quantity or writing enough and if it ain't broke don't fix it! But I do want to track my writing a little more closely. I just think it could be fun tracking the stats behind it and looking back at it at the end of the year. and also maybe help me continue this consistency with writing that I've suddenly developed?
Write something for fun: I can't tell you how much it hurts me that I don't have any fun/silly projects that I can work on on the side that I don't care about getting perfect. I think it will be nice and freeing and challenge my writing chops a bit to write something completely out of my comfort zone, totally absurd, and purely for my enjoyment. I've just been too crippled with fear to even try and idk why. I want to do it so badly but I struggle with coming up with ideas (and with working on more than one thing at once). We'll see it if it happens. this is just a list of things I want to do who knows if I'll actually do them.
Finish the second draft of MDE: just gonna throw this one in here out of obligation. refer to the last sentence of the previous bullet point. I wrote half of it in a year, maybe it's possible to write the other half in a year?
If you made it this far, thank you for reading. gonna come back to this in 6 months and see if anything I listed here actually panned out lol
The Raven's daughter: Morpheus x Matthew's daughter part 7
Tumblr media
previously: part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5, part 6 (catching up is highly recommended)
Part 7
A kickass party
-Well, sure as hell it took you long enough- Kat greeted her friends, fairly annoyed – do you wish to tell me what kept you.
- Not really, but you’re not gonna let me of lightly, are you.
- Not a chance.
- Great. Because that’s exactly what I need – relieving the most terrible day of my life – y/n entered the cafeteria and started to study the menu for the day. Nothing particularly interesting and she was wondering if maybe she should skip the meal, but the rumbling in her belly had different plans.
- Oh come, on, y/n. Spill the bean – Kat had already made an order and now was dragging her friend towards one of the tables.
- I got suspended.
- what? – Kat snarked – the golden child got punished? Oh God! What did you do you rebel?
- I called the classes off. Nearly anyone showed up so there was no point in conducting it. Or at least it seemed like that at the point. Clearly a mistake from my part – y/n sighed
- How long?
- Three days. Gadling will be assigned to my students until next week, can you imagine that?
- Well, he is hot, so maybe you could use that as an excuse to ….
- Kat!
- What? You can’t stay single forever, you know. You are not getting younger and skinnier, girl. And speaking of boys, I’m actually pretty glad you got so much time on your hands now.
- Yeah, thanks for lifting my spirits, my friend. What’s your idea than?
- A party!
- A party? – y/n looked at her confused – are you serious.
- No. I’m not. You are making up for both of us. Thus, you have to let go of all the tension, so … party. And before you say no….
-Im down for it.
- …. Let me tell you why…... Wait? You’re actually saying yes?  Who are you and what did you do to my friend?
- It’s like in this Avril song, you know all my life I’ve been good but now….
- That’s what I’m talking about! – Kat threw a fist in the air – my girl! So, the plan…
- You’ve already made a plan?
- Obviously. I know damn well that only facts speak to you, so I just in case I prepared my case for presentation.
- Not only facts.
- Of course not – Kat nodded in agreement – you are miss imagination after all. So imagine how much fun we are going to have. Oh, and we have a third musketeer coming. – she waved a hand towards another women who was just entering the cafeteria. – Sarah!
- Morning ladies, how’s your day so far? – the elegant redhead approached them and put her designer bag on the chair.
y/n rolled her eyes. She definitely wasn’t going to repeat the story.
-Someone’s in the mood – Sarah stated
- Don’t mind her. y/n had quite an eventful forenoon. However, I did my magic to convince her to participate in our ladies’ night.
- Magic, indeed, than. – Sarah smiled.
-Oh, come on, I’m not a bore – y/n exclaimed – just ….  mature. And I can’t believe you were involved in this shenanigans, Sarah.
-To be honest, I was plan B. Kat was going to win you with arguments, and I planned on attacking with threats.
-I’m glad it didn’t come to that
- So do I. Anyhow, since I’m the only one with the car, I’m going to pick you both up at 8 sharp. Be ready.
***
Growing up, y/n was never a party animal. Well, even as a grown-up woman she never aspired for that. On one hand she watched a lot of girls who felt at a club like at home, with their fancy dresses, looking hot and feminine and wondered if she could ever be like that, on the other always believed herself to not be good enough. Being self-conscious with her body and general outlook dolling up was always out of her reach. Supposedly she was afraid to make a fool out of herself. No one really noticed that though, because if anything she knew perfectly how to cover up. And what’s more, y/n was never jealous. It was more like a guilt inside her that she is not a picture of a perfect women, whatever that may mean. And that was also the reason why she struggled with relationships as her friend nicely mentioned.
However, making a promise to Kat and Sarah she made effort to get ready. Trying to balance her own comfort and the specifics of a club she picked up a blue sleeveless trouser suit. Nothing to extravagant or defiant yet still party-like. Hair down, luckily it was best to just leave them natural. Just a quick glance in the mirror just to avoid any second thoughts and she was ready to go.
Sarah and Kat were right on time and without any further delay the girls reached the destination point.
-This was a mistake – y/n stated the very second they reached the entrance.
-Oh, come on, girl, you can’t back out now. Besides, it’s only gonna get better, you’ll see.
-Ladies, less talking, more partying – Sarah grabbed her friends and dragged them both inside.
There were so many people. Like the club was just completely full, despite the fact that it was middle of the week. This seemed abstract to y/n, who was always mature to quote her own words.
-I don’t feel good – she stated again as the crowd surrounded her pulling her towards the dance floor. – I’m gonna….  I think I’m gonna grab us some drinks, if that’s ok with you two.
-I could use a beverage – Sarah said – but you’re not going alone. We’re in this together and besides it’s better to watch each other backs, you never know what can happen.
- Sarah’s right – Kat chimed in as the girls elbowed their way through the crowd– I’ve heard enough stories about roofies to make me not want to be a part of one. Bartender! – she yelled – three shots of vodka, por favor.
-Since when do you speak Spanish?
- Since I’m trying to complete my Spanish outlook. Don’t you think it suits me? – Kat turned around. With her curly dark hair, red lipstick and tight dress she did in fact look Spain-like. As for Sarah she choose a mini skirt and strapless shirt and her hair was straightened and shiny.
- Yeah, it does – y/n took a sip of her drink suddenly feeling heavy underdressed.
- Oh no, no, no. – Kat pointed a finger towards her friend – no long face. I can read your mind, I know what you are thinking right now.
- Really? Please, enlighten me.
- You think yourself to not fit in this place. You believe you are a duff, don’t you?
- Wow. That was painful, Kat, seriously. And completely unnecessary – Sarah smacked the brunette.
-What? I’m just telling that’s how y/n feels, I never say that’s true.
-You can be such an idiot, Kat – Sarah rolled her eyes – come on, y/n let’s hit the dancefloor. This will cheer you up.
- Yeah, I’m gonna stay here for a while if you don’t mind. But you go, go have fun – I’ll join you in a minute, I promise.
When Kat and Sarah started dancing it was captivating. Their moves were intoxicating and capturing the attention of everyone around them – both man and woman. y/n was both jealous of her friends’ sex appeal and proud to be with them and sad that she herself would probably never get to be like that.
-Have you seen that red head? Man, she is hot – y/n heard a man across the bar, clearly talking about Sarah
-You don’t stand a chance man – the other one laughed – I think you might as well take your chances with her friend. You know, the one in blue, right there – he pointed a finger towards y/n. – She’s watching us right now. Poor thing, with that look she will be alone for the rest of her life. Nobody would want to touch her with that look.
Once again  y/n felt sick to her stomach. Hearing something like that was brutal and her first instinct was to flee the club, get back to her house and lay down on the bed with some good book. However, doing something like that would be like handing the argument to her tormentors. Y/n finished her drink, put the glass on the counter with a loud bang, and joined her dancing friends. Loosing herself in the music and the movement she completely forgot where she was, until she felt a hand sneaking on her waist and a strong arm pulling her outside the building into the dark alley. A little overwhelmed and light headed she had no power to oppose to whoever it was.
-Let go off me – she finally yelled as the cool air brought her back to reality.
-That one’s feisty – a man laughed – she’s gonna be a good starter before we hook up with her friends. – this was one of the group who was laughing at her at the bar, the girl now recognized him clearly.
- Trust me, you don’t want to do this – she spoke calming herself, even though her hands were shaking a little bit.
-And why is that, little one? What exactly is stopping me? I’m a man and you are a woman, you have no say in what I’m about to do.
-Honestly, I have no idea in what century you’re living, but it’s 2022. Women are actually equal to men, it not… better and definitely smarter – she smirked
- Careful, doll. Me and my friend may have quite a different opinion on that – he spated as three other man started to surround their prey.
- Once again  - you don’t want to do this.
-Oh, we do – with one step the man was right in front of the girl, grabbing her wrist, while the other squeezed her waist.
-Damn it, don’t say I didn’t warn you all.
Y/n was quick to turn around and kicking the man behind in the groins causing him to fall to the ground. Then she quickly moved towards the one grabbing her arm, using the other to punch him straight into the nose. As for the other two -  one got a kick from a half turn which left him mazed and the other, who was bold enough to come directly at her trying to use some hand movement was knocked off his feet when y/n popped a squat and made a single leg movement. With all her punched and kick all of the men was soon lying on the ground lifeless. Even though she was safe now, the girl was shaking a bit, all of the emotions now getting out.
-y/n! – Sarah and Kat flounced off the club looking for her, terror on their faces visible when they noticed some unconscious men on the ground – what happened? Are you ok?
-Yes! – y/n started laughing frantically – Honestly I’ve never been better.
-But… but what happened? Did you do this? – Kat pointed at the surroundings.
-Not to brag, but yes, this was my doing.
-How? I didn’t know you know how to fight
- I watch a lot of Cobra Kai, you know. After some time you learn some useful movement – y/n grinned. – Anyway I think I have enough for one night, I’m heading home. But you were right, this was fun.
-Wait, y/n you can’t walk alone at night. I’m gonna give you a lift, so ….
Before she could finish her sentence, a tall, broody man came from the shadows.
-I’ll be taking care of miss y/n, now – he spoke in dark yet silky voice.
- And who may you be, sir – Kat defensive attitude got the best of her.
- Hold the fire, Kat – y/n reassured her – he’s a … an acquaintance. I’m gonna go with him, I think I’ll be safe.
- You think? – Sarah hissed – that’s not enough for me. I’m not letting my friend get into any more trouble.
-I know how to defense myself, remember? – y/n didn’t bother mentioning that her little karate trick would be nothing against the Lord of the Dreams. – I’m gonna be fine, I promise. I got backup – she nodded as a certain Raven flew from the sky and sat right on the girls arm.
-Fine. But call me as soon as you get home. This is all weird like hell. – Kat and Sarah turned around, got into the car and drove away while y/n turned towards her visitor.
Autumn Cafeteria | Episode 4
A few hours later, in front of the coffee shop "Cinnamon" in ES
Tumblr media
Tsukasa: This should be the last one for now due to the time. Well then, let's get going ♪
Yuuta: Y-Yeah...
Koga: Yeah...
Tsukasa: ? What's wrong, you two?
Yuuta: You always ask for sweets in every place we've been to, and as you've said, this is the fifth and last one... [1]
Koga: There are times when Yuuta and I only need somethin' to drink, y'know.
How could you ask for sweets every time? Is that sweet tooth of yours gettin' worse or what?
Tsukasa: T-That's...! I just thought that it would be better to try their products while we're at it.
You can't tell what it looks like or tastes like unless you actually ask for it, after all...
...Uugh. Did I eat too much? I'm ashamed to have shown you this pitiful appearance of mine.
Koga: What are you apologizing' for? We're not angry, we're actually impressed. We're not a big fan of sweets, that's why.
Tumblr media
Yuuta: Right, right. Actually, they've been very helpful. We really had no idea how good the sweets tasted.
It's an amazing talent to be able to eat a lot of sweets like you do.
Tsukasa: Oogami-senpai, Yuuta-kun... Thank you for your compliments.
Leave it to me. I, Tsukasa Suou, will eat for the both of you!
Koga: No, you don't need to go that far. You wouldn't be able to eat dinner at that state.
Tsukasa: T-Tha's true. Then, little by little...
Are there any available seats... How about that corner over there?
Koga: There's a sweet called "Demon's White Mon Plan", which is a soft rice cake made to look like a rabbit's ears. It says "Co-operation: Murasaki" here, so is this some kind of collaboration? [2]
Tsukasa: It seems that it's the winning entry in the Idea Contest held by this Café. This Sweets will be offered for a limited time only.
Yuuta: Ooh, you really know a lot, huh?
Tsukasa: Actually, I have tried to apply several times. But I always end up just formulating an Idea and then giving it up.
Yuuta: Hmm... At least, you got an idea, even if it's just a vague one.
Koga: Then, how about servin' it in a restaurant?
Tsukasa: Eh. You mean the Sweets I invented?
Tumblr media
Koga: Yeah. Other restaurants offer limited-time menus, and you're curious to find out what it's like, aint'cha?
If there's such a thing, not only regular customers but also new customers will be attracted to it, won't they?
Tsukasa: I see... I think it's a good idea to stimulate interest in the form of a limited time offer, howeverー
I wonder if my Idea will be able to meet your expectations. I've only thought of it on a whim, and I'm not sure if it's even a good one...
Koga: Aan? You shouldn't underestimate your ideas.
When the right time comes to adopt it, it will brush up, and your idea of sweets may be introduced to the world, y'know? Be positive!
Yuuta: If you're so nervous, why don't you try making it yourself before talking to the owner?
Actually, there's a sweet I'd like to make, too~.
Koga: I thought you didn't like sweets?
Yuuta: That may be true, but I'm surrounded by people who like sweets.
It's fun to watch them eat so deliciously, but isn't it a little boring just watching in a corner while they eat so happily?
I would like to make sweets that are not too sweet so that people who don't like sweets can enjoy them with me...♪
After school the next day, the kitchen on the garden terrace
I-It's nothing. Yuuta-kun, please don't say anything.
Yuuta: There's nothing to hide now, though? It's been made known that you have a sweet tooth.
When Mitsuru-kun invited us, and the three of us went to a coffee shop downtown, the menu was rather extensive.
You couldn't pick between all the parfaits on their menu so you just ordered the entire page of the menu from top to bottom.
Tsukasa: Ack, this is embarrassing...
Koga: Hm. So there are other people who does things like that apart from Adonis.
That guy also likes sweets. He had this favorite coffee shop downtown, and I think he already tried all sorts of sweets there.
Yuuta: I wonder if what Mitsuru-kun recommended and the place Otogari-senpai likes are the same one? It would be a great sight if Tsukasa-kun and Otogari-senpai were together.
The sweet aroma that fills the restaurant and the many sweets that can fill the tables~...
Koga: Ugh, I'm gettin' heartburn just thinkin' about it.
Tumblr media
Yuuta: I felt sick when I said it myself...
Koga: We're gettin' out of track here. Let's get back to makin' that "Red-head Boy's Parfait (temporary name)".
Tsukasa: What kind of name is that... While the two of you were busy talking, I have already finished preparing the ingredients.
Yuuta: Now all I have to do is look at the finished product and serve it. You're very handy~.
Tsukasa: Fufun. Making Sweets is a specialty of "Knights", so they say...♪
Honestly clueless with what he's talking about here in the original line, so if any of you know what "梯子する前提で注文するようにしてるけど、さすがに五軒めともなるとね" means, please contact me asap TT
Don't know if I translated this line right, but I think it's like a word that will make you think that it's some kind of collaboration just like what Corgi here thought.
"Helloooo! Look who I brought!" Taemin sang, balancing four wine bottles in his hands, Onew following him shortly behind.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't the guy who said he can't come." Minho exclaimed and got up to hug the older. You got up as well, to greet them properly.
"I have so much work to do! But Taemin basically dragged me-" Onew started, before getting interrupted.
"Da-Eun!" Taemin exclaimed and ran to you, hugging you tightly. You got along with him a lot, since he was such a happy, open person. You truly liked him, maybe also because he was the closest to you in age.
"Yah, let me meet her too, will you?" Onew laughed then came over to you with a bouquet of various spring flowers. "I'm Jinki, it's nice to meet you!"
"The pleasure is mine, I'm happy that all of you managed to come today after all."
"Let's sit down." Key instructed everyone.
"Wait, I'm gonna go get a glass for Jinki." You remembered. Since you were about to play host for the whole night, you had to play the part right.
"Wait, I'll go get it. Is Key still keeping them in the top cabinet?" Minho asked you, and as soon as you nodded, he ran to the kitchen. He apparently had other plans in store, seeming to be mindful of you.
~
"Okay, okay, let's see. Da-Eun, give us your best, cheesiest pick-up line." Minho laughed, reading the small card in the deck.
You've been playing 1000 questions for a while now, and the boys already managed to down almost 2 bottles of wine.
"Hmmmm, let's see. Let me think." You rubbed your chin with your fingers for a couple of seconds until you remembered what one of your customers told you that made you cringe for the whole day afterwards, partly because of the pick-up line itself, partly because the dude was a creep.
"It's okay, take your time." Kibum nodded empathetically.
"What's on the menu?" You looked at Minho.
"I don't know, what?" He asked, tilting his head.
"Me n U." You winked and smirked, making the boys laugh.
"Y'all she got rizz!" Jinki exclaimed, and Kibum was already wiping tears from the corners of his eyes as Minho burst out into laughter. The joke wasn't that funny, but they were all getting drunk pretty fast, and drunk men are the easiest to amuse.
"Ok, next card, to Jinki: tell us your best joke."
"Hmm, okay. What do clouds wear?"
You smiled and urged him to continue.
"Thunderwear."
"Wow, that was lame." Taemin laughed, soon followed by everyone else.
"Wait, since you're going to have a kid, does that mean that next year you'll compete against Jinki at saying dad jokes?" Minho laughed at Kibum, who burst out laughing again.
"No wayyy!"
"Come on, they're funny!" I playfully slapped Key's leg, who grabbed my hand lovingly and kissed it.
"You're all mean." Jinki pouted. "I have another one! Da-Eun, how do you get if Key disappoints you?"
"I don't know. How?" You chuckled.
"You get Ki-bummed out." He laughed, and this one actually made you snort.
The boys also seemed to find it funny as heck, as Taemin started holding his belly from laughter and Minho was already on the floor, literally, rolling.
"Okay, I know I have the best jokes in the world, but let's take a small break please, I gotta go take a piss." Jinki stood up, and you were thankful since you really wanted to do something before everyone got blackout drunk, and as things seem to go by, it was going to happen sooner rather than later.
You stood up and went to Taemin, tapping him on the shoulder two times and whispering in his ear.
"Can you come with me real quick?"
He nodded and stood up, and you guided him to your bedroom. You were glad Key went to the kitchen to bring some more snacks, and Minho was scrolling on his phone and didn't notice you and Taemin leaving the room.
"What are we doing here?" Taemin smiled excitedly, as it felt like you two were sharing a secret and doing a secret mission.
"Look, there are five small boxes up there, behind those clothes." You opened your wardrobe and pointed to the highest shelf where you hid gifts for the boys. "Can you grab them please?"
"Sure." Taemin smiled and took the boxes with ease, following you back to the living room.
"Where were you?" Jinki asked curiously, and you were glad that everyone was once again seated.
"So, since all of you came here... I have an announcement to make." You grinned and grabbed the first box, giving it to Kibum.
"Don't open that yet." You scolded him as you noticed his fingers already playing with the small ribbon that was holding the box in place, and he just nodded with a small smirk, as if he was caught under the Christmas tree too early in the morning by his parents.
You gave the second box to Onew, you placed the third one on the table, the fourth one went to Minho and Taemin ended up holding the remaining one.
"Okay... you can open them at the same time." You said and kneeled down in front of the table, opening the box you just placed there, as the person who was supposed to do it wasn't present.
Key was the first one to finish opening up his box and pulled out the custom T-Shirt you created from it, reading it out loud.
"You're going to be the most awesome dad. Signed, your future baby boy." He read it out loud, and as soon as the words left his mouth, he started sobbing and stood up to come and hug you.
"We're going to have a boy?!" He cried, and you became emotional and started crying as well, hugging him back as both of you kneeled on the ground.
The rest of the boys pulled out their T-Shirts as well. Onew's read: "Best Uncle #1", Minho's read "Best Uncle #3", and Taemin's read "Best Uncle #4".
"You... you made one... for Jonghyun?" Minho started tearing up as well, his eyes trailing over to the T-shirt you pulled out on the table that read "Best Uncle #2". Of course you couldn't forget someone who was so important to them. Even if he passed away so many years ago and you never got to meet him, Kibum still talked about him fondly, so you felt it was absolutely necessary to include him in this as well.
Minho put down his box on the table and stood up as well, kneeling next to you and hugging you and Key tightly.
The other two boys followed immediately, and came around the three of you, in a group hug.
The gesture made you feel accepted, and you were sure your baby was going to grow up being loved by so many wonderful people, which you were so grateful for.
~
You woke up early the next morning due to the terrible nausea that didn't let you sleep, even if you went to bed late.
The boys all got drunk and decided to crash over, so you got out of your bedroom and walked as quietly as possible towards the bathroom, where you managed to throw up every little snack you ate last night.
You were feeling horrible and knew you couldn't go back to sleep, so after finishing throwing up your bowels, you washed up a bit and went to the living room, where you were surprised to see Minho sleeping uncomfortably on the couch. You had two guest bedrooms because you didn't have time to make one of them the nursery yet, so you weren't sure why he was out here.
Still, you didn't want to wake him up. It was barely 9 AM, and they stayed even later than you did. You started grabbing the empty wine glasses on the table with care and then came back to also get the few plates with leftover food.
He was still asleep by the time you finished grabbing what you wanted to clean up, so you carefully closed the kitchen door and poured yourself a glass of grapefruit juice, hoping it's going to help with the horrible nausea.
It didn't.
Still, you got up from the kitchen table and turned on the water, starting to wash the glasses.
You didn't hear the kitchen door open, so you got shocked to see two large hands grabbing the glass and kitchen sponge from your hands.
You turned your head around and saw Minho, who started to push you away from the sink with his body.
"Morning." He said, his voice raspy, and he looked so obviously tired, you felt bad he didn't sleep more.
"Did I wake you up...? Sorry, you should go back to sleep..."
"Let me wash these and sit down." He instructed you, making you frown.
"But-"
"You need to rest too, we've been loud until 5 AM. So please..."
"Okay..." You nodded, and it somehow felt like you were being scolded.
"Pregnant people should rest more than drunk idiots." He concluded, making you laugh.
"Don't be mean, you haven't seen each other in a long time." You smiled. "Should I make you a coffee?" You remembered, and wanted to stand up again before he threw you a killing glance.
"Just sit down, I have two arms and two legs, which I'm very grateful for, and they are great at making coffee. I'll just make one when I finish the dishes."
"You don't have to hand wash them, by the way... you can just put them in the dishwasher..."
"Why haven't you, then?" He laughed.
"It's getting harder to bend down..." You chuckled, looking down lovingly at your cute bump that was starting to get pretty big already.
"Kibum should be doing the washing then." Minho laughed. "I'm gonna scold him for you."
"He usually puts them in the dishwasher."
"He's still lazy. I swear. Whenever I would come visit, I would have to do all sorts of jobs around the house. Laundry, cleaning up tables, washing his dishes, gardening, you name it. I was shocked to see the house so spotless yesterday!"
"Come on, it wasn't that bad when I moved in." You laughed. "It's just that I'm a clean freak and I hate stains..."
"I'm the same! Clean freaks club united!" He laughed and raised a small fist in the air, splashing you a bit with water.
"Oh my god!" You laughed, making him turn around and notice.
"Oops, sorry, sorry!" He laughed as well and gave you a box of tissues to wipe up the bits of water.
"Thanks."
"By the way, Da-Eun..."
"Yes?"
"I really wanted to thank you... for last night. What you did was very thoughtful, and... thank you." He looked straight into your eyes, and you smiled kindly, understanding how much the simple gesture you did meant for him and the other guys.
"I should be the one to thank you for accepting me and for supporting me and Key's relationship... and I hope you'll also... love this baby and be there for him as his uncle..." You let your head down, feeling grateful.
"Of course! I'll be the best uncle. I'll play football with him, sing with him. You can count on me, Da-Eun!" He smiled kindly at you, then continued to wash the dishes.
Henry Danger Reader Insert | Captain Man x Reader: SEASON 3
Episode 18: Live and Dangerous Part 2
"Ooo! Frankini is about to start a livestream!" Piper Hart squealed as she stood in her living room with Charlotte and Jasper. The teen girl was still on babysitting duty, whilst Jasper had just turned up out of the blue because without Henry or Junk-N-Stuff being open, things were pretty boring.
All three of them were completely oblivious to the dire situation currently being forced upon Henry, Ray and (y/n), they were just excited to see that Frankini was about to make his big announcement. The world was waiting for the start, unaware of how Swellview's crimefighters were under that lycra-wearing weirdo's control, hours away from total disaster.
"Interesting." Charlotte nodded, wondering why the celeb was starting one now at such short notice. He'd barely advertised it, which was unusual because he loved to draw it out and tease the hell out of his viewers.
"Yeah, wonder if Frankini is gonna have any special guests on the livestream," Jasper suggested, raising his eyebrows at Charlotte, who just shushed him with a smirk stretched across her face. They couldn't let Piper pick up on what they secretly knew, but they had to admit, it was fun to be in the know.
"Well, we're about to find out...You guys! Captain Man, Miss Danger and Kid Danger are with Frankini!" Piper squealed as the web page finally loaded, revealing that the guy was standing with Ray, Henry and (y/n) smiling brightly at the camera. On the inside, the three superheroes were dying, but outwardly, all but their eyes appeared normal.
"Wow..." Jasper "gasped", pretending that he was just as shocked as she was, although on the inside he was smirking from how he'd known about the special appearance for a few days.
"Okay, welcome to a surprise livestream with my insanely special guests, Captain Man, Kid Danger and the lovely, Miss Danger!" Frankini grinned into the camera whilst Goomer raised two sliders on the control panel, causing the three heroes to shakily raise their hands and wave at the viewers. The viewer count was rocketing as the word spread about Ray, Henry and (y/n) being online, meaning it was only a matter of time before they reached ten million and Frankini carried out his terrible plan.
"Uh, what are Kid Danger, Captain Man, and Miss Danger wearing?" Charlotte asked the two sitting with her. She had no idea why they had agreed to put on such garish pants, especially (y/n) since she was usually so shy, but she assumed that Frankini must have really charmed them or something.
"I don't know." Piper shook her head and continued to focus on the livestream, watching as the viewer count went past one and a half million people and Frankini carried on doing what he did best.
"Now, to entertain you, my friend, Captain Man has asked if he, his girlfriend and Kid Danger can perform a scene from their favourite movie, A Swim To Forget." Frankini breathed out the movie dramatically, moving his arms around like he was actually swimming and it was clear that it was really his favourite movie. He stormed over the control panel and shoved Goomer away, swiping through the menu swiftly so the superheroes would bring the hands down in front of their faces. This guy took acting very seriously.
"Wait! What is happening?!" Piper exclaimed, wondering what the hell she had just witnessed. She was a Captain man expert, she knew all the facts and all the trivia and was certain that he and his sidekicks would never agree to do something so strange and random for everyone to see. Her hero wasn't one for self-humiliation and she had learnt of how he'd do anything to keep Miss Danger safe too, both from bad guys and negative publicity.
"Why would they be doing a scene from that movie?" Charlotte asked, more to Jasper than Piper. The teens knew that (y/n) wasn't the biggest fan of A Swim To Forget, preferring one of her cheesy romcoms to a tragedy with a crap ending. They were also sure that Ray and Henry would never agree to do something like this, not on camera anyway and that inside knowledge made a bad feeling sit in their chests.
"And now, a scene from A Swim To Forget." An announcer said over the livestream as a title rolled, introducing the movie part professionally. Ray dramatically fell to the floor as if he was dying, pawing at the ground as Henry knelt in front of him and began to mourn whichever character his boss was playing. (y/n) too was pretending to be upset, throwing her hand to her forehead and painting an expression of heartache across her face. Well, this was humiliating.
"No! Tiffany, no! Come here! No! Come on!" Henry sobbed, pulling Ray onto the couch like he was fishing him out of the sea and the large man plonked his legs into the boy's lap as (y/n) immediately began to tap at his face, pretending to revive him. Tiffany was a goner.
"I'm so...cold. Hold me, Eudora, you're my favourite sister." Ray spoke in a soft, country drawl, making (y/n) wrap her arms around his shoulders since she was "Eudora" apparently. This was a weird movie, but from the pure enrapture on Frankini's face, he was loving it.
"Oh, dear sister, why did you go swimming?" She whimpered back, leaning over the back of the couch as Henry cradled his boss, a sight that was extremely odd to the people watching back home, not just Piper, Charlotte and Jasper, the whole two million idiots who'd clicked on the video.
"You know you can't swim." Henry reminded "Tiffany", tearing up as Ray's body shook and (y/n) wiped his brow, acting like she was wiping a hot flannel across it. Next, Ray blinked furiously and began to madly feel for Henry's face since his character had gone blind in the water. Go figure.
"Lance?! Lance?! Are you there? And my sister, where is Eudora?" He asked in his southern accent, causing Henry and (y/n) to clutch onto his hand strongly and caress his cheek as if he was a dying family member. It was weird to see (y/n) do that, not for her since y'know, they were dating and stuff, but seeing Henry behave like that was downright disturbing and rather...suspicious.
"We're here, we're here." (y/n) soothed, smiling gently. She disregard the fat tears that fell from her eyes and fell onto Ray's cheeks and Frankini didn't bother to change the settings because he loved the drama behind it. Well, that and the water hid the fear and anger hiding beneath those (y/c/e) orbs.
"I feel myself slipping away..." Ray squeaked in a high tone, his wrist limply bridging over his forehead before flopping down to his side and for whatever reason, Lance wasn't too happy to hear her speak in such a defeatist manner.
"No! No, don't, nooo!" Henry bawled, cupping Ray's cheek as he began to grieve for the character. Under Frankini's control, the three made for outstanding actors, but truth be told, there were three kids sat at home watching who couldn't be fooled, even as (y/n) laid it on thick.
"Oh, Lord have mercy, please! Let her live, dear God! It's not her fault she swum!" She sniffed, pressing her forehead to Ray's momentarily before Frankini decided that he didn't quite like the sight of the girl getting so close to her real boyfriend. She had to join his side and bring endless amounts of her fabulosity to his online presence; if he couldn't have her, then Captain Man definitely couldn't. He didn't deserve her.
"I just wanted to give you both a swim to remember." Ray crooned, smushing his fingers against Henry's lips because that's what the girl in the movie did, although she had a lot more grace than him.
"Instead, you've given us...a swim to forget." Henry was honoured with saying the famous line before the three began to cry like babies, the pants illuminating briefly as four million people joined to see what the hell was going on. They were all laughing and recording and being horrible, just what the mad celebrity needed to fuel his livestream, which was quickly going viral.
"Why are they doing that?" Jasper questioned as he, Piper and Charlotte watched his two bosses and his best friend make complete fools of themselves over some dumb, crappy movie. Their acting wasn't even that good and he could've sworn that parties don't normally include amateur theatre productions. Something was going on here and they didn't like it, not one bit.
~
"That's right! We already have six and a half million people watching right now. And when we get to ten million, guys, tell 'em what's gonna happen." Frankini smirked as he resumed the normal part of the livestream, standing behind the gold couch whilst the heroes sat on it awkwardly. He dashed off-camera so they could reveal his sneaky plan and resumed his position at the control panel, giggling at how well everything was going.
"We will take off our masks," Henry stated, causing Charlotte to gasp in horror as she heard the announcement. Okay, there was definitely something going on here, her friend would never do such a thing, not even for fame and glory. It was Ray's number one rule, not just for his livelihood, but for safety and secrecy.
"And reveal our identities." Ray carried on, but one thing was amiss. His usually chirpy and lively voice was uncharacteristically flat, dull, so boringly unlike him that it stood out and spoke volumes.
"To the world!" (y/n) finished, the energy flowing through her making her arms widen as if it was a good thing. It wasn't good though, that's the thing, it was fucking ludicrous that they were even thinking about this and the news was quickly spreading, luring more and more people into Frankini's web.
"WHAT?!" Piper, Charlotte and Jasper screamed as they heard what they said and each kid had to take a moment to check if they heard them correctly. This had to be a wind-up or a prank, maybe some unfunny joke, it just couldn't be real
"Captain Man, Miss Danger and Kid danger would never take off their masks!" Piper exclaimed, looking at Charlotte and Jasper. Frenemies be damned, she could put all that aside for now and focus on the problem at hand, she needed the teens to help her work this out.
"I know!" Charlotte agreed, thinking that her boss must've been tricked or entranced because he would never risk his sidekick's safety like that, not when one of them was a boy and the other was his precious girlfriend, no way.
"What's happening?" Jasper asked Charlotte, knowing that she was normally good in a crisis and since she had worked for Ray a lot longer than he had, maybe she knew some about special protocol or training to help them.
"I don't know but, uh...just give me a sec!" She answered by grabbing the boy's wrist and dragging him away from Piper, leading him to the door instead. It was weird to just walk away in Captain Man, Miss Danger and Kid Danger's hour of need, but she really needed to discuss the shit with Jasper alone, as members of the Man Cave team, not as two normal kids.
"Wait! Where are you going?" Piper asked incredulously, wondering why they were leaving when Swellview's crime fighters were on the verge of being dragged into disaster. Cowards, they could at least stay and help a bit.
"We'll be right back!" Charlotte promised her and chucked the curly-haired boy through the door, making him trip over his feet as she hurried to shut it behind her. At least they could get down to the nitty-gritty now.
"Why would Henry, (y/n) and Ray do something like—" He began, trying to communicate his complete disbelief, but Charlotte already had some answers and they had no time to waste. Frankini was getting close to seven million viewers.
"Just let me talk." The girl said simply, wanting to explain her theory without any interruptions, but Jasper being Jasper...
"But, if they take off their masks then everyone will know—" ~He butted in, stating the blindingly obvious, which really pissed Charlotte off. Again, they didn't have time for this.
"Just let me talk, okay?" She insisted, even though Jasper still wasn't taking her seriously. Why couldn't he say something real quick? "Yeah, but—"
"Don't talk. Just listen to me!" She snapped, giving her friend a stern glare that sent him into silence, the one thing she desperately desired.
"Okay, you stay here with Piper. I'm going to go to the Man Cave, find Schwoz and try to figure out what's going on with Ray, (y/n) and Henry, okay?... Okay? Jasper!" She explained the plan, waiting for the boy to say something that would show his understanding, but he was too afraid to talk. Once bitten, twice shy and all that.
"You told me not to talk!" He reminded her, making Charlotte lunge to strangle him before she decided against it. She'd kill him later, for now, she had to get to the Man Cave and see if its resident genius could figure something out. Jasper could handle Piper alone, after all, she was already forming a plan to help out Captain Man and it would involve beating Frankini at his own game.
~In the Man Cave~
Schwoz had watched everything. He'd seen the livestream, the announcement, the weird movie thing, the lot and was currently sitting at the supercomputer, polishing his head. He was deeply perturbed by what he'd seen, although looking at him, you'd never know it. He was surprisingly calm to say his boss was on the brink of revealing who he was under the mask.
"Wow! Almost eight million of you are watching Captain Man, Miss Danger and Kid Danger scrub these toilets, so! Just two more million and these boys and lovely girl are going to take off their masks. Right, fellas and girl?" Frankini giggled into the camera as the superheroes behind him knelt in front of three toilets and scrubbed them hard. On the inside, each one was dying and gagging at the demeaning task, wishing that they could strangle that bastard until he went blue.
"That's right." Ray's lips moved, but his eyes looked terrified at the prospect. It was obvious to anyone with half a brain cell and a sharp eye that they weren't enjoying it.
"Fella," Henry added, looking equally pale. Goomer could mess about with the controls all he liked, they weren't fooling Charlotte. She knew something was up.
"We want to do that." (y/n)'s voice was void of emotion or intonation as the teen girl burst into the Man Cave, looking for Schwoz with urgency.
"Shhhh! Wait, wait! I'm watching!" He shushed her, too invested in what Frankini was going to do next than whatever she wanted. Sure, he was worried about Ray, (y/n) and Henry, but he couldn't lie, the livestream was entertaining.
"Oooh! I know what might be fun to see. Boys, why don't you stop scrubbing those toilets and instead, let Miss Danger brush your teeth?!" Frankini squealed and Goomer flicked a few settings so the boys gave their brushes to (y/n), who in turn lifted it to them to their lips and begrudgingly began to brush their teeth. The young woman felt so bad, so mean and wanted to cry and apologise all at once, but the more Frankini laughed, the more Goomer dragged out their misery.
"Schwoz! That's not funny! How can you sit there, polishing your head and laughing?" Charlotte scolded the cackling genius, who couldn't help but find Ray and Henry's disgusted faces hilarious. The girl hated how her friends were being subjected to such cruelty and was determined to help them.
"Well, I'm polishing my head because I like to keep it soft and shiny. And I'm laughing because Ray, (y/n) and Henry are doing comedy like Saterda Night Loove." Schwoz replied, although his thick accent made it hard to understand what the hell he was saying. Luckily though, Charlotte was an expert on his way of speaking.
"You mean Saturday Night Live?" She asked, rolling her eyes at how he was so unfeeling. This wasn't like Saturday Night comedy, that was jokey and lighthearted, Frankini was psychotic and crazy.
"You say it better." He smiled at her, not realising that the more he sat there and made pleasantries, the more likely it became that soon, the world would know that Ray Manchester is Captain Man, Henry Hart is Kid Danger and (y/n) (y/l/n) is Miss Danger.
"Ugh, move." She shoved him from the chair and sat down, scanning the livestream for anything that could give them a clue. Nine million people were worrying but panic would slow them down and she worked much better with a cool head. "Okay, something's wrong. Henry, Ray and (y/n) would never willingly go online without their superhero pants or skirt. And...look at their eyes."
"Oh, yeah. Hmmm...now, you move." After taking a moment to think about what she was saying, Schwoz realised that the girl might be onto something, judging by how livid the heroes looked. It was true, Ray was a stickler for correct uniform and (y/n) spent way too long designing hers just to forgo half of it, in fact, the whole thing seemed a bit dodgy now he thought about it.
Flinging Charlotte from her seat, he began to rewind the footage, searching for something in particular and he gasped as he zoomed in and saw a device that was highly familiar to him. "Ah, yes! Look! Look at that thingamajiggy!"
"What is that?" Charlotte asked, squinting at the weird gadget flickering beneath Goomer's control panel. It looked like something Schwoz knew all about, maybe even (y/n), but that sort of technical wizardry was beyond her.
"It's called a Domitron. It's illegal in America and everywhere that's not America." He scowled, suddenly seeing that Frankini wasn't the happy, friendly, go-lucky guy he made himself out to be. Having an illegal device wasn't exactly a good show of character.
"Well, what does a Domitron do?" Charlotte questioned, prompting Schwoz to think. Those circuits were way beyond anything she'd understand, but perhaps he could skip the math and go for a few terms she understand.
"Well, ohhh, how can I dumb this down for you? You make a person wear special clothing that's been bombarded with atomic particle waves and then the Domitron connects to the clothing and sends electronic waves into a person's body. And then, you can control their brainwaves and the muscles, and make them do or say anything you want." He explained, his voice getting more and more panicked as he explained the science.
"Whoa." She breathed out. That sounded a lot like what was happening to their friends.
"Yeah, whoa. Basically, it turns a person into a puppet." Schwoz went on, although once again, his poor pronunciation let him down, sounding more like "puppay".
"A what?" Charlotte frowned, wondering what he was on about. Maybe it was another science thing that she didn't completely understand, or maybe it was just another weird Schwoz thing.
"Puppet? You know, p-u-p-p-e-t? Puppet?" He even spelt it out for her, and that's when it clicked. It was a weird Schwoz thing.
"Puppet. You mean, it turns someone into a puppet." Charlotte hissed. It was fine, it's not like the clock was ticking and Frankini's viewer count was rocketing skywards. They definitely had time for Schwoz's shortcomings.
"Ooh, you say it better." Charlotte ignored how he was chirpy once again and sat back down at the computer, praying she could work out a way to help her friends. If they were under Frankini's control, then it was up to them to do something.
~
"Okay, livestreamers, we are so close to ten million people watching. So now, I say, it's time for a beauty pageant question." Frankini grinned at his viewers as he draped a 'Miss Tween America' sash across (y/n)s chest. Ray and Henry were already wearing theirs and were dreading the oncoming moment when they'd be forced to remove their masks just to give the celebrity a moment of fame in the history books. "Doesn't that sound like a hoo-haa?"
"Yes, it sure does." "Yes, a hoo-haa." "Yes, amazing." Henry, Ray and (y/n) replied shakily, making Charlotte panic as she paced the Man Cave's cold tiles. Only seven hundred thousand people to go and Frankini would get his wish, leaving Captain Man's super career in tatters.
"Will you hurry up and locate his club so we can go help them?!" She snapped at Schwoz, who was struggling to pinpoint the trackers in the super suits. For some reason, the signal was fuzzy and couldn't get a fix, leaving him stuck.
"I'm trying!" Schwoz whined, tapping a load of buttons in succession of each other as the computer monitored both the signal and the livestream. Frankini was getting weird again, hoping that something outrageous would draw in the crowds he needed, plus he could never resist a beauty pageant, not when one of his contestants was so pretty.
"Captain Man, Kid Danger and...Miss Danger, recent polls have shown that a fifth of the people who live here in Swellview cannot locate their own uvulas. Why do you think that is?" Was his first question, something very odd, but Goomer made them reply some bullshit anyway.
"Well, we personally believe that Swellview Americans are unable to do so, uh, because, uh—" Ray started in a funny voice like he was some pretty, whiny, teenage model trying to outdo all her rivals on stage. Who knew he'd sound so convincingly good as a beauty pageant queen?
"—Uh, because some people, here in Swellview, don't have uvulas—" Henry continued in exactly the same tone. No one knew why Kid Danger was going on about the gross, fleshy dangly thing at the back of your throat, but hearing him was funny, so they overlooked it.
"—We believe that our education, such as—and we should help South Africa—" (y/n) carried on, smiling brightly at the camera like she was on a stage, the one place she hated to be. She wasn't a model, just a mechanic in a superhero costume.
Whilst they were bullshitting an answer, Goomer glanced up at the viewer count on a TV and his stomach clenched as he saw something dreadful. He tapped Frankini worriedly on the shoulder, but the guy was too invested in his beauty pageant to care about whatever his stupid assistant had to say; probably something about pork and beans.
"What is it, Goomer? I'm in the middle of a livestream." He snapped, wondering what was so important that he had to be taken away from his interview. But what Goomer was about to show him needed his attention because it was so gloriously disastrous, depending on who you asked.
Goomer saw how his boss wasn't going to budge by his own will, so he chose for him and just picked him up, moved him across the room and forced him to look at the monitor, where the viewer count was...dropping? Y'see, Piper Hart is a determined little girl and even though she couldn't find Frankini and beat him up like she wanted to, she could still take away his viewers. By creating the world's best zit-popping livestream (with a little help from Oliver, Jasper and Sydney), people were switching off from Frankini's video and onto hers, because everyone can't help but love gross stuff.
"Eight point nine million viewers? But we were at nine point two million! What happened?" Frankini gasped as the heroes kept ranting about uvulas behind him, although under the control, the news that their impending doom was being staled gave them a small glimmer of hope.
"We lost some viewers," Goomer answered dumbly, prompting Frankini to glare at him. He wasn't stupid, obviously, they lost some viewers, he just wanted to know why.
"I realise that. Why are we losing viewers?! This is the worst thing that could happen to a Frankini." He whined like a child, stomping his feet and slapping the assistant's chest as he lamented falling short just before he reached success.
"I think the problem's a pimple," Goomer told him, referring to Piper's livestream, which was becoming extremely popular as she hyped up a huge zit that Sydney had faked on Jasper's neck. All it was was just special makeup and a load of banana pudding, but to the people at home, it was gonna be epic.
"I have a pimple? Oh my god, where? Where? Pop it, pop it!" Frankini was mistaken and squished his cheek for the blemish that he thought was grossing people out.
"No! Look it!" Goomer dragged his boss over to the PearBook where he'd pulled up another person's livestream and sure as hell, there was Piper, working the crowd like an expert.
"I don't care what else is live-streaming right now, you wanna be right here, 'cause in just a few minutes, we are gonna pop this guy's neck pimple. Yeahhhhh, this zit's about to get real." Piper smirked, knowing that it was likely that Frankini had seen how she had already stolen three hundred thousand of his viewers and by bringing on Jasper's pimple, it was quickly going upwards.
"All right. If people wanna see something gross...get the worms." Frankini ordered. He could do gross, beauty pageant be damned, he wanted his ten million recorded and if he had to bring out the big guns then he would. 'just watch him.
"Oh, come on. You're not serious." Goomer gulped, not wanting to be party to such a revolting thing. Captain Man, Kid Danger and especially not the pretty lady didn't deserve that, no one did and he couldn't believe that Frankini would stoop so low.
"Get. The. Worms!" The guy growled at his insubordination, making Goomer scurry off to follow his orders. He didn't care how gross it was, or how the superheroes would be haunted forever by this, he was going to get his way. "Sorry, little girl, but you shouldn't bring a pimple to a worm fight."
~
Everything had been set up and Frankini was once again ready to talk to his viewers as Ray, Henry and (y/n) sat dreading his next move. They heard something about worms and knew it wasn't good, but nothing could prepare them for what he had in store for them.
"Oh, hello, what have I been doing? Oh, I've been putting worms into a food processor." Frankini smirked as he sniffed the wriggling creatures and dumped them into the blender with the rest of their friends so they could all meet their fates. The heroes had been made to sit at a cute little table like they'd gone out to eat at a classy restaurant and it set alarm bells ringing in their heads. (y/n) longed to reach for Ray's hand, hoping to give and gain some comfort from the gesture, but try as she might, her muscles were stiff and unresponsive, leaving her to curse that stupid Frankfurter.
"And now, worm dip." Frankini turned on the machine, committing the murder of hundreds of poor little worms just to get a few viewers back. He laughed as they turned into a pinkish-brown paste, which looked revolting to the people at home and freaked Ray, Henry and (y/n) out to no end. He wasn't actually going to make them eat that, right?
Taking the lid off, Frankini tipped his "delicious" dip into a bowl, making Goomer gag and gip at how thick and sludge-like it was. He could smell it from the control panel, salty and musty, but also kinda sweet? It was just an awful all-round and seeing it placed in front of them made the superheroes scream inwardly.
"There! I think it's time for Captain Man, Miss Danger and Kid Danger to have a little snack!" Frankini grinned as Henry eyed the worm paste suspiciously and tried to do something to get his dumb body moving. Surely, this was healthy, surely, earthworms carried some kind of bacteria that would lead to them puking for the next three weeks, surely, this wasn't fucking legal. "Right, boys, sweetie?"
Goomer reluctantly tapped the controls, wishing he didn't have to do this but he also didn't want to be out of a job, so Ray, (y/n) and Henry picked up a piece of toast and slowly dipped them.
"Yes." "We want to eat worm...dip." "It looks delicious, mmmm." They said, one after the other, each sounding like they were trying their hardest to say nothing, do nothing and keep their lips firmly shut. The problem was, they couldn't just take a smidge of dip, they had to take a massive scoop and really get the chunks on that toast, y'know to really enhance the flavour.
"Yeah, dip it, yay." (y/n) groaned with a smile as Ray shoved his piece into his mouth, followed by Henry and then her and let's just say it was a taste sensation, something they wouldn't wish even on their worst enemy. The toast had turned soggy, salty, with little bits of dirt and crunchy worm guts to go with the wholemeal bread, leaving Frankini cackling as he saw the tiny signs of disgust on their faces. They couldn't even puke despite their bodies telling them that they needed an emergency stomach pump and it was even worse as they were forced to go in for a second dunk.
"All right, boys and girls, have fun watching this little appeteaser but remember. When we hit ten million viewers, Captain Man, Miss Danger and Kid Danger are going to remove their masks and reveal their true identities." Frankini giggled and fell on the floor dramatically so everyone could see their favourite superheroes enjoying their worm dip.
"Yay, worm dip!" Ray exclaimed, holding up his second piece of bread to the camera so they could see how it was truly a smooth blend, it still had a few intact worm bodies in there to make it interesting.
"I like these worms." Henry grimaced too at how he was saying the exact opposite of what was happening and he wanted to turn his head at the thought of another load going into his mouth.
"I'm glad this is happening to me." (y/n) whimpered, her fingers wobbling as she nibbled on her second piece of toast, her brain going into overload as the bittersweet dip assaulted her tastebuds.
"I'm doing this because I want to," Henry told the camera, another one of Frankini's tricks to make the viewers think that they had volunteered for everything, or that it was one big joke. If Kid Danger said it was okay, then it must have been, right?
"Worms!" Ray cried as he chomped more dip, chewing slowly which made the taste sit in his mouth even longer. What had he done to deserve this? What had his sidekicks done to deserve this? When he got free his was going to kick Frankini's ass for even touching his girl, never mind making her so miserable.
~In the Man cave~
"What are we gonna do? We can't let Frankini make Henry, (y/n) and Ray take off their masks!" Charlotte exclaimed as the viewer count crept towards nine point five million. The worm thing had worked, people were coming back to his livestream and there wasn't long to go, only a few more minutes until it was too late.
"I know! Grab that cream and come polish my head!" Schwoz told the girl as he typed away on his little machine. It was a weird request, but Schwoz needed every one of his super brain cells working, meaning the polish was necessary.
"What? Why?" Charlotte, however, didn't see it. Why would Schwoz need a shiny head when they could all be out of a job and possibly in danger in a bit?
"Because it helps me concentrate! Hurry!" He told her and she urgently grabbed the tub of head wax and the cloth so she could get to working shining his bald scalp.
"No! Rub in circles!" He snapped when she rubbed in harsh lines, something that irritated him greatly. It was too rough and didn't cover enough skin for his liking.
"Okay!" Charlotte listened to what he said and the minute she began to go round and round his bald head, he found fault again. Maybe the polish did help his little grey cells, but not when she went the wrong way
"Clockwise!" He ordered, still working away furiously as he tried to find their friends. Time was running out.
~
"Oh my god, we're almost at ten million!" Frankini gasped as his monitor showed how he was less than one thousand people away from the big number. Captain Man and his sidekicks were still loving their worm dip, which was making Goomer giggle now that he'd gotten over his initial gagging and disgust. It was the same for other people too, the counter was nearly complete.
"Nine million, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety-eight!... Nine million, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine!..." Frankini cried as they reached their target, a nice round ten million, not that Goomer could read big numbers.
"Ten thousand!" He exclaimed, thinking he was celebrating with his boss, but he kind of killed the mood since he thought it was a much lower number than it really was. Back on the table, (y/n), her boyfriend and Henry were shitting themselves as they heard that it was time, the moment they'd been dreading.
"Million!" Frankini corrected him, upset that his big moment had been ruined, but he could look over it. Nothing could dampen his spirits, not when he had done it, he'd beaten every other sucker and now stood on top as the number one streamer in the world.
"Ten thousand million!" Well, maybe that could dampen the spirits. Poor Goomer, he had no idea how wrong he was or how much he pissed off Frankini.
"Ten million!...oh my god, I did it! I am the most popular livestreamer on the entire World Wide Web! I mean, you stream me, you really, really stream me! Thank you!" He cried into the camera. Even though he was being incredibly selfish by taking away the superheroes' most precious thing, he still took the time to appreciate his viewer's help before he shrugged Goomer away.
"And now...as promised, it's time for Captain Man, Miss Danger and Kid Danger to remove their masks." Frankini nodded at Goomer, who had retreated to the controls and was all too happy to make them shove back their chairs and stand up. He wanted Miss Danger on their side and if she stopped being a superhero, then hopefully she would.
"They're about to take off their masks!" Charlotte exclaimed as she and Schwoz struggled to do...anything. She had no idea what they were going to do, but from how much she'd been rubbing the genius' head, she hoped he'd thought of something clever.
"I'm almost ready!" Schwoz exclaimed, his plan on the brink of being a success. Just a few last-minute preparations and then he could save them, but he had to get everything ready, even if it was seconds before a disaster.
"To do what?" Charlotte questioned, wondering what was going on since all he'd been doing for the past half an hour was tapping away on all his little gadgets and ignoring her whilst she rubbed his head just the way he liked. Talk about taking things for granted, she just wanted to know what he was about to do.
"To turn off all the power in Swellview!" He answered, rushing around like a madman since it was taking all of his technical skill to kill the entire grid. If they couldn't get to Ray or Henry or (y/n), then they'd turn everything off and hope that they could help themselves.
"What?! Why?!" She gasped, thinking that it sounded, crazy, illegal, stupid, dangerous and difficult. Would he be able to pull it off?
"If there's no electricity, the Domitron will stop working!" He told her with a smirk all over his smug face. You had to admit that this was an ingenious plan, one of his finest and if it worked, then Frankini would be foiled. Way to go, Schwoz.
"But—ooooh, that's smart." Charlotte returned the smirk as she realised that he wasn't as stupid as he looked. Still, they had to do it now, Ray, Henry and (y/n) were reaching for their masks, fingers twitching and eyes full of fear as they tried to resist showing who they were, but their hands wouldn't stop. They groaned and grimaced at being so powerless, their discomfort being shared by Piper, Jasper, Sydney, Oliver and countless others, but just as their fingertips brushed the smooth material glued to their skin...
"And...now!" Schwoz shut off the power, plunging all of Swellview into darkness and everything turned black, including the Frankini Club.
"What just happened?" The man asked as his place became dark in what should've been his greatest success. Ray, (y/n) and Henry were jerking, twitching and involuntarily moaning as they regained control of their own bodies, which was a shock to the system after having been locked away for so long.
"I don't know, the power went out," Goomer reported, squinting around the room as he tried to get the Domitron to work, but without a power supply, it was just another trinket. Perfect.
"What? What did you do?" Frankini growled as the superheroes leaned on the table, trying to work out what the fuck was going on. They could still taste the worm dip, but amazingly, their arms bent and their legs moved when they wanted them to, sweet cheese.
"I didn't do nothing! Uh...no punish." He insisted, but his bravery quivered when Frankini glowered and lunged for him, screaming bloody murder for how everything had done a one-eighty and he was now looking like an idiot.
"Kid, Miss Danger, y'alright?" Ray asked, marvelling at how when he wanted to put his arm around his girl, it actually did and how his lips moved how he wanted them to. God, it felt good to feel her skin again and even better to know that he could keep her safe once more.
"Yeah, I think so." Henry nodded as he wiggled around to stretch his exhausted muscles, whilst Ray dipped his head down to give his sweet girl a soft kiss, something he'd been dying to do all night, but upon gathering her senses, she quickly put a hand between their lips.
"Later, once we've brushed our teeth. All I can taste is worms." She chuckled, raking her eyes over him happily. It had been torture to sit next to him and not look at and dream about and admire everything about him, but now she had him, at last. Her boyfriend, her love, her Ray.
"Yeah, mine too." He agreed, wiping at his tongue whilst Henry bent over and gagged a little like he'd been wanting to do ever since he put the damn dip in his mouth. Yeah, he was going to be throwing up in his toilet until three in the morning.
"Oh, god, where's the plug?!" They heard Frankini panic as they shook off the Domitron's effects, but it was no use. No way were they gonna let him control them again; models? Yeah right, what a load of bullshit.
"Hey, I made myself say that." Henry pointed out to the couple as they held each other for support and comfort. They had been so caught up in each other and being able to just appreciate being together again that they hadn't realised that they were free.
"We're back in control of our own bodies!" Ray exclaimed, smiling at his girl when he saw that he wasn't being made to hold her (which was better than worms by a long shot), he was doing it because he loved her and it was his instinct to bring her into his arms where he could shield her from the humiliation and dangers.
"Quick! Let's get out of these Frankini Bottoms before the power comes back on!" (y/n) gasped, fumbling for her belt where her gum tube was clipped once she noticed how their torturer was quickly trying to get everything back online. Not so fast, they weren't about to become his marionettes again.
"Right. Let's blow a bubble and get back into our pants, slash skirt." Ray said, not caring about sounding cool, he was just eager to get back into his normal uniform. That and he wanted to see (y/n)'s ass in her cute, little, red satin number.
"That didn't rhyme," Henry noted. He didn't see the hurry and was surprised to see his boss be uncool in front of his girlfriend, but after all that crap about appearing cool earlier, Ray was done with pretending he was someone he wasn't. For now.
"Just blow a bubble, we'll pitch on rhymes later." Ray snapped, popping a gumball from his tube, but just before he was about to throw it in his mouth, a terrible memory came flooding back to (y/n), something that brought back all her guilt.
"Wait!" She cried, putting her hands on their shoulders as she teared up a bit and looked at them both. Yeah, technically it wasn't her fault, but she wasn't the sort of person to just walk away without feeling a bit bad.
"What?" Henry asked, believing that she'd spotted or felt something awful. As always, now he was interested in her advice and gut feeling, but then again, anything bad she felt could've just been the worms.
"I brushed your teeth with toilet brushes, I'm so sorry!" She panicked, looking at the boy and then her boyfriend with an apologetic face, which made them both chuckle. Only (y/n) would feel bad for something she'd been forced to do by a psychotic criminal.
"Sweet girl..." Ray smiled and pressed a kiss to her nose, giggling at how silly and kind the girl he had chosen was. He'd make sure that she left this behind with no guilt, but for now, they just needed to blow their bubbles and get back into their normal gear.
"Oh my god, something's happening! Where'd my Frankini bottoms go?" Frankini gasped as he glanced up from whatever he was doing and saw that the superheroes were no longer wearing his pants, just their regular uniform as and that meant that he couldn't do shit to them. God, it felt good to feel that silkiness brush against her thighs and even better for (y/n) to see Frankini turn pale under his foundation.
"If I were you, I'd worry about your own Frankini bottom." (y/n) hissed, feeling so clever for having come up with the line, but when Frankini giggled at her mentioning his ass, it sort of ruined the quip. And it made Ray clench his jaw with how he still wanted to be flirtatious even with his ass on the line.
"Man Cave." Henry nudged Ray as his phone began to ring, the contact showing that it was the hideout trying to reach them, Charlotte probably. He guessed they were worried after watching the livestream and then the power outage.
"Take it, we'll wait for ya," Ray told his sidekick, curling a possessive arm around (y/n)'s waist and pulling her a little closer to his body so Frankini knew where he stood. Nowhere.
"Hey," Henry answered the call as Ray turned his darkest frowny face to Frankini, although his hold on (y/n) never faltered.
"Henry! Are you, (y/n) and Ray okay?" Charlotte answered as Schwoz listened in. She had been desperate to make the call but had to wait for the Man Cave's backup generators to kick in before she could and it had been an anxious wait.
"Yeah, we're cool but, only 'cause the power went out." He told her, prompting Schwoz's heart to flutter with pride as he heard about how he'd saved their bacon. Maybe they'd be more appreciative of his skills in future.
"That was me! I did that!" He exclaimed proudly, but he was forgetting that he'd had an assistant in saving their bacon, even if she had only done one thing.
"Well, I rubbed cream on your head!" Charlotte added, frowning at how she'd been left out for Schwoz to take all the glory. What a cheek.
"Okay, okay, it worked, okay? And go ahead and turn the power back on now." Henry told them, glancing over to see that Ray had told Frankini that he and Goomer were going to jail (amongst other things, like how a certain girl only gave her love to him) and boy, they were not taking it well.
"Aye!" Schwoz nodded and flipped his lever upwards, turning Swellview's grid ack on before the authorities started panicking too much and with everyone else getting signal, Henry was soon wanted elsewhere.
"Hey, it's Jasper, I'll hit you back," Henry told Charlotte before switching onto his other call. He was glad that he wasn't the one dealing with Frankini right now, 'cause he looked real upset, smearing his mascara and everything.
"Hen, are you, Miss Danger and Captain Man all right?" Jasper asked quietly as the call connected and the lights in the Hart's house came back on. He assumed that they were okay, but he had to make sure, despite Piper, Sydney and Oliver being so close in the kitchen.
"Yeah, listen, I'll meet you back at the Man Cave. Right after I take care of Frankini." The boy replied, looking over at the shrewd criminals and his words sparked a thought in Jasper, who underneath his curls, kept some rather sneaky ideas.
"Well, if you really wanna get Frankini, you should bring him to your house," Jasper told him, smirking as he stroked the fake pimple on his neck. Henry had no idea about how he and his sister had tried to help out, but Jasper was sure he'd love his plan, it was perfect. "Why?"
~Henry's House~
Yep, he loved it. Henry, (y/n) and hell, even Ray couldn't be prouder of Piper and Jasper, plus those other guys, for trying to help and they were more than happy to hand Frankini over for some well-deserved punishment.
"Wow, I'm so pumped that over eleven million people are watching this livestream right now to see the eruption of the biggest pimple of all time." Piper grinned at the camera and she had several reasons to be happy. First, she was now the world record holder for the most viewers watching a livestream, second, Captain Man, Miss Danger and Kid Danger were standing behind her in her house and third, she got to humiliate Frankini like he'd done to her favourite superheroes. Everything was good.
"I'm Jasper." Well, he might as well have said it, it was his only chance of fame, but he soon shut up when Piper pulled down her goggles and got on her stool. It was time for some payback.
"Ready?" She looked at Oliver, who was in control of the pudding canisters. This had to look good and he was ready to open the hatch and let it come out.
"Hey..." Ray glanced down at (y/n) who was smiling at the scene unfolding in front of her. Both of them had brushed their teeth after arriving at Henry's house, glad to scrub away the worm taste with a normal, clean toothbrush, which meant that what was denied earlier could now be given.
"Hey..." She smirked up at him, instantly knowing what he wanted as an arm wrapped around her stomach and she looked over her shoulder and up at him.
"I don't suppose that I could have that kiss now?" He asked, chuckling at how coy he was being and how even after quite a few months of dating, he was still able to add colour to her cheeks.
"You can, doofus." She smiled and stood on her tiptoes as best she could in her boots and welcomed the feel of the soft, familiar lips against hers. This was home, him just happy to share an innocent, worm-free moment with her, loving how she chased his movements until Piper was ready to start.
"Ready? One, two, three!" Piper squeezed the fake pimple in sync with Oliver turning on the pudding sprayer, resulting in a jet of pus-like pudding flying from the swollen lump across the room and onto Frankini. Ray had left him on the floor tied up, happy to let him get sprayed and humiliated because of how he and his sidekicks had suffered the same due to him.
"Why did you pop it? Payback is a zit!" Frankini whined, spluttering and squirming when the pudding got in his mouth and eyes. It tasted quite nice really, but he was just whiny because his makeup and outfit were ruined. There was no better sight than seeing him cry and it seemed like the viewers loved it too.
"I miss those Frankini Bottoms," Ray mentioned to his sidekicks, making (y/n) groan and Henry grin. Seriously, he liked wearing the ridiculous leggings? What about the pain and suffering that they'd caused?
"Yeah, they felt gooooood!" Henry nodded, smiling brightly as he thought about how snug the bottoms were they were so comfortable, a bit perilous, but so stretchy. Yeah, the pattern was a bit bright, but apart from that, they looked great.
"Why do you two never listen to my little danger radar? It's like I sense when shit's about to go wrong and then you ignore me until shit hits the fan and you need me to come in and save your asses." (y/n) fretted, making Ray chuckle as his mind drifted back to how those tight pants accentuated her hips and legs. He loved her figure and everything else about her, especially how hot she looked when so animated and full of energy.
"Your ass looked great in the Frankini Bottoms." He whispered back to her as Henry ignored her protests, preferring to watch Frankini sit in a puddle of banana pudding, sobbing for the internet to laugh at.
"Thanks, but I won't be wearing them again anytime soon." She rolled her eyes at how he always brought conversations back to her backside. He was an ass man and loved to talk about it, grab it, anything really.
"What will you wear instead then?" He asked, feigning ignorance despite them both knowing that he was anything but, even in someone else's house. Ray couldn't help but wiggle some innuendo into everything.
"Nothing, if you're lucky." (y/n) smirked when his body tensed and the arm around her got tighter. He was bad, but so was she, both of them giggling like idiots in love as Frankini whimpered on the floor because that's what they were.  Two idiots who lived a crazy, dangerous life full of surprises, but endured through the support of their little family and their golden love. It was magical and they wouldn't have it any other way.
I hate small independent coffee shops.
Sometimes I'm like, cool, I love that I've grown out of my anxiety! and then a mildly distressing, confusing or unfamiliar situation happens and I melt down on the spot.
(this is long i had to get it out)
BACKGROUND/THE PLAN: get my dad some Real Maple Sugar Candy for Christmas, because he nostalgically mentioned that being his favorite Christmas treat as a kid. Some people online say it's only for sale in season (approx. Feb-March) but there are a flobbity billion small independent farms in the northeast offering such treats for sale online right now, so surely Minnesota has some too. Because I'm not paying as much or more for shipping if I can simply go pick some up myself.
Small local/specialty candy store didn't have any, but after some googling, I found this indie coffee shop, Native-American-owned, that the internet says sells the stuff, so that seems promising. It's near a place I have to go to pick up another present anyway, so, 2 birds etc!
THE TODAY PLAN: Sit in the parking lot for 20 minutes to psych myself up first, because ordering in these places is always awkward AF as you try to find a place to stand and browse what's for sale and where the menu and prices are while the person behind the counter is asking for your order 3 seconds after you open the door.
So to make this as clear and logical as I can, I've decided that I will treat myself to a drink while I'm here. I will simply order the first and easiest thing I see on the menu (small coffee, or perhaps a latte/cappuccino), and then add the candy to my order because it would just be silly to go into a coffee shop for candy alone, right, especially if i get a really small portion of it, depending on price.
HOW THAT GOES: the place seems the usual amount of scary (people sitting at tables and in chairs, all pretty crowded together) but it's also cute, and thank god there are 2 people in line ahead of me so I have a minute or two to peruse. Cappuccino, $4.75, one size! That's perfect. It's probably only 8-10 ounces but still less out of pocket than at a chain store these days. I don't see any candy for sale, so when it's my turn, I order and then smoothly ask if they sell it.
"No, that was just for our pop-up shop," she says sympathetically, in a tone that says she's definitely been asked this before. So, on the one hand DAMN IT!!!!!! But on the other, she didn't make me feel stupid for asking AND I'm getting a nice warm drink out of it soon to combat the cold and blustery day, so I can go home satisfied enough since this was my last stop. After minor confusion when I'm supposed to scribbled a 'signature' with just my finger on the electronic pad, I'm good! This is the best outcome I could have asked for in a case of disappointment!
At this point: I would like to note it's 2:30 in the afternoon on a Thursday, i.e. not when I would expect a coffee shop to be crazy-busy.
WHAT NOW? I'm not really sure where to wait, since everyone else wanted their orders for here rather than to-go, but I just kind of step to the side while she takes the order of the last person behind me, and then gets to work. It's actually quite pleasant at first, because now I can scan the board at my leisure, try to commit some items and prices to memory, might come back here w/ husband actually! It is cozy as long as you can find a spot.
Anyway, it takes about 5 minutes from the time I first started waiting to when the first drink is called. It feels like a very long time standing there increasingly conspicuously while eeeeeeveryone else is sitting down, but I don't think it was. I consider finding a spot to sit and wait too, but the place is about 75% full already. It would be rude to take up a whole table for myself if I'm going to be out of here soon, what if a group of people suddenly comes in.
Second drink is called. I realize now that this is not, in fact, either of the drinks ordered ahead of mine. Starting to get slightly stressed, so I pull out my phone which has no data plan and pretend I can actually browse the internet on it. I don't need a table, you see, because I can play on my phone anywhere! Also I'm totally not impatient!
A third drink is called. It is still not for either of the people ahead of me.
HELLO ANXIETY MY OLD FRIEND: I find while looking down at my screen that my eyes are suddenly full of tears, as if I were back in college or the one and only time we tried to go out and do something with husband's friends. Because I SHOULD have sat down, I realize now, but also now it's too late to ~suddenly~ decide to "casually" sit down like I knew what I was doing and only planned to move now the whole time. Also there are people everywhere, and they will Look at me because movement is an aberration that draws the eye. They truly are every damn where, this place is the size of a postage stamp. I'm beginning to feel like I'm also standing too close to the table with people at it behind me, but I simply don't know how to move now.
The tears blink down. I try to wipe them discreetly but it's a double-attack so I just have to go for it and hope not many people were looking. Well, that sucks and I definitely can't raise my head now, but if I can get my drink soon, soon, soon, I can still avoid looking her in the eye as i grab it and run away and never come back here again. My face is fully red with embarrassment, heart rate is steadily picking up tempo and I have Located The Exits and am beginning to contemplate an upsetting but potential alternate move.
PLOT TWIST! IT GETS WORSE: There are now 3 people standing at the register, so she takes a break to collect their orders before it gets backed up too far, since she's working alone. I am momentarily relieved when one of the new people also stands nearby to wait, even though now I'm occupied in wondering how obvious it is that I'm crying and if he can tell and/or is going to be awkward about it.
I elect to pretend I have just gotten Terrible News and am trying to Hold It Together while tapping out a fake reply about calling someone as soon as I can. That would be a perfectly acceptable reason for an adult woman staring at her phone in a coffee shop to have tears on her face. Bad news is extra-bad during the holiday season.
One of the people ordering seems to be dictating a very complicated order as it is taking longer than average.
I'm also starting to panic about how many more people might have already been in the ordering queue before I got here.
WORSER: And it is at that point, where it has now been close to ten minutes (this would NEVER happen at Starbucks Caribou!) and what if I actually stand here like a fucking idiot who doesn't know how coffee shops work for a full quarter of an hour or even more and it's still not ready?? that I find to my sudden alarm I am crying and can't stop. Silently, but a faucet has been turned on and water is simply streaming out of my eyes. And, oh dear...now my face is starting to contort involuntarily, beyond my control.
FUCK IT, WE BAIL: That's right. I am simply unable to hold it together any longer and have already accepted my losses. It feels awful and stupid and unfair and I might has well have just pulled a $5 bill out of my pocket and lit it on fire, but I have reached my limit. The path to the door is no longer blocked by the line so I beeline straight for it. If anyone tries to stop me or call after me, I won't falter or care, I am Done. No coffee 4 me.
Of course the door I aim for turns out to be locked, so I have to pivot (and pass another table of people), but at least the door I came through is only a few feet away so I'm out a second later, striding away and now full-on sobbing because all I wanted was a goddamn hot drink and it was so scary and intimidating to go into this stupid tiny weird hipster space I didn't even want to go to in the first place, but I DID it only to have to PAY OUT MONEY and still not get ANYTHING AT ALL.
I got in the car and sped out of the parking lot and the coffee shop's line of sight as fast as I could. I hope the worker isn't too upset about wasting a drink/not knowing what to do with it; maybe one of the seven billion people who saw me crying on my way out can let her know I'm probably not coming back, while they gossip to each other about why anyone would do something so weird and not say a word.
SIDE QUEST: ...then I immediately spent like 2 full minutes panicking that my car was suddenly breaking down because it sounded really loud when I accelerated, and whenever I took my foot off the gas it immediately started slowing down, like not just coasting, but like I'd taken my foot off the gas while going up a hill. Pulled over in a panic, wondering what to do if my car died on the spot. Finally realized in my haste to leave, I had put the gearshift on whatever "B" is instead of "Drive." Instantly fixed, but wow what a fun cap to my day!!
AND IN THE END: Stopped hyperventilating pretty quickly once in the car, but still cried intermittently the whole way home. And again when I thought about trying to explain how something this small and silly got me so upset. I cried harder the whole time I was writing this post and reliving the experience while still being really upset that I didn't get my drink (despite paying for it!! but I obviously didn't have the wits to cancel my drink order so I can't get the money back if ingredients were wasted on it), mostly because i NEVER treat myself to fancy coffee drinks in take-out cups. It has literally been over two hours since this happened and I'm still crying.
To be fair, I haven't cried in a while -- about 6 weeks since I cried at all, and longer since I had a full and exhausting weeping session that usually a good sad book can provide me with -- and when I haven't done either of those but especially the latter in a while, the tears get all backed up. But still.
Anyway, that's the story of my really crappy Thursday and in conclusion, I remain firm in my hatred of small independent coffee shops.
P.S. Joke's on me because now between the lost coffee order and the gas I already spent driving to two places in vain, I believe I've spent somewhere in the neighborhood of $8, which would sure have made a dent in the cost of shipping. Far too late to order in time for Chistmas now, though, anyway.
Travel Blog - Büsum (North Sea)
15.-17. September 2023
I decided to write a little travel blog about my trip to Büsum as well C:
Overall I want to cherish the memories I made more, photos are great and all but thoughts count too. Polished cam photos will follow later on, for the blog I will keep it to phone pics <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
15th September - 1. Day
The little weekend trip to Büsum was my birthday present from my parents for this year. I went with my Mom. Last year we went to Cuxhaven for 4 days but it was a bit too long for my taste.
I got the friday off in exchange of not getting the Bookfair Friday, therefore we planned it later on. We went to Büsum a few times already, last time it was in the high of the pandemic, you still can see some leftovers from the time. But it's nice to see the city lively again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We stayed in a hotel very close to the harbour. It's run by a family of alternative folks, they are all tattooed, pierced, have dyed hair and are super open to everyone who is different, I love that. We also found out there was a tattoo convention that weekend and a lot of artists stayed in our hotel.
My very wish was to eat at a specific pancake restaurant but it closed down last year, we decided to visit the replacement restaurant and I have to say... it became our favorite one to eat at over the days. And I loved their menu of teas, heck, so many teas.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We had a Kaiserschmarrn with Blueberry compot in the "style" of the former owner. Then we walked a bit around the city and the beach area, flood was there therefore we couldn't get into the Watt but that was okay. We had booked a spot in another restaurant for the evening and had to check in later on.
Also I had planned to do doll photos the first evening, we were quite packed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was the first time for me to eat fish at the sea that was not... fish sticks. But I actually liked it. That was new for me. As we finished we hurried back to hotel to fetch the 5 dolls I had packed to take pics.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We had the most beautiful sunset I very much loved it!
16th September - 2. Day
The day started in the Hotel with breakfast, we were told it would be absolute amazing and it was ... average? Dunno? It was okay but we had better over the years.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we went into the Watt for a nice long walk before the flood came in. We explored the area a lot and found some new spots or spots we forgot about?
Tumblr media
After that we of course had to get to the tattoo convention, it was super interesting to see. The buzzing of the needles was a bit weird though.
Then we went to fetch lunch and .. well. The restaurant my Mom had chosen was the worst. I had asked for seasonal fruit with my pancake and was told to get kiwi and mango. I got melon, pineapple and a rather disgusting strawberry syrups smoldered on top. Mom's choice was advertised as served "hot" and it was cold and I was super disappointed here. I really feared my mood would declince more and more... Mom asked me what I want to do now. I told her I just want to walk and we... walked. And it helped.
We discovered new restaurants and spots, like a park with some outdoor sports equipment. Dunno why but it lifted my mood. We then got to the restaurant we ate lunch the day before and got some cake as I just wanted to relax somewhere. It had actual seasonal fruit (berries, apple) and we booked a spot for dinner there.
I am seriously not the type who loves burgers but since there are more restaurants popping up with non-meat patties I am testing them here and there. I had a vegetable patty and the sourdough bun was toasted so well it was crunchy until the end. The cabbage salad was really nice and not to mention the mousse au chocolate as dessert.
We came back to an incredible scenery as it got dark and the sun went down. We took another walk and went back to the hotel then.
17th September - 3rd Day
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The last day had arrived. I went on a little morning walk on my own and the sunrise was absolutely beautiful and the fog on top of it... I am still in awe.
Tumblr media
After checking out we took another big walk into the Watt, the scenery was amazing, I can't put it into words.
Tumblr media
Before we left we had another stop at our new favorite restaurant and I had some american cheesecake (only had german one before). We left Büsum then.
Tumblr media
Before we completely left we stopped at a local farmer and got some vegetables, the area is known for cabbage and it was in season.
Tumblr media
Traveling back ate my complete spoons though as Mom mistook a route and we ended up in Hamburg... I mean... I saw the convention hall for the Polaris and all but I was just so done then.
Overall it was a very good trip, I had the feeling last year Mom and I grew apart a bit as she was a bit too clingy for my taste, maybe it was just that 4 days with her is too much, dunno. But this year was way better.
Wild Rivers Sidelines Tour 2022
Ft: Violet Skies
Venue:
The Summit Music Hall (Officially called “The Summit.”
(09.16.2022)
Stats:
1st time seeing Wild Rivers
1st time seeing Violet Skies
Friend Stats:
2nd show with the lovely Emma. (Technically the first full show we’ve been to together cause the first was a Warped Tour (date I can’t remember) that we met up with each other, but I stayed the whole day and she did not.
Photo Notes:
All photos taken by me!
It starts with Violet Skies’ set and then goes into Wild Rivers. Also I’m not drinking, drinking in that bathroom picture, I’m just finishing off my Liquid Death (expensive can water) while I have a post concert outfit photo shoot.
PS: I had an abundance of photos once again, so check out the Akward Side Blog for more photos from the show and just that day.
Hey Why Not:
I’d heard about this show and was excited, but wasn’t going to go or rather I wasn’t sure about going. It was like “you like 3 songs, is that enough?” Later on when planning for shows that I was sure about I asked my friend Emma if she wanted to go with me and she was down. Tentative plans were made, but I  ended up buying tickets the day the venue announced a low ticket warning and she was luckily able to do the same. I dragged my feet on this one, but it all worked out in the end. The deciding factor was me walking around the world singing “Thinking ‘Bout Love” for the last 2 years and figured it deserved a live listen.
The Early Bird Gets “2nd” In Line:
After getting my friend out of bed and out of the house earlier than she would have chosen for herself, we went downtown for a decent lunch from the place that I always says disappoints me. This time it was alright but the firecracker fries or whatever they’re called, did truly have a kick and now I understand why I never got them before, they never come with your meal already. It should be a crime to have burgers or chicken tenders or whatever on a bar menu and it not automatically come with a fries or onion rings.
Anyway what I thought was late (like always) but was actually fairly early. We ended up being “second” in line, as there was a whole group ahead of us that had been following the tour for a couple dates already. I thanked my friend for braving the heat and the sidewalk multiple times, to which the reward ended up being meeting Khalid and Andrew (2 members of the band) outside of the venue beforehand, getting barricade standing spots and those chef’s kiss (in my opinion) photos I was able to take by just being up there.
Violet Skies Featuring Kyndyl On The Keys and Background Vocals:
In preparing for this show I found out that I actually knew who Violet Skies was based off of one song that Spotify recommended to me several years ago, which meant I didn’t feel too out of the loop on her, like some opening acts I’ve seen on other tours. I kinda learned “I’ll Buy A House” as well, but we all know the songs you prepare yourself with rarely make it to the setlist. That being said it didn’t matter that I only really knew “Is She Gonna Be There” cause the whole set was fantastic. Any line or chorus that I could hold onto I did and she just looked so cool up there, like do you see that outfit?! “The Internet” and “Never Be Cool” were standouts in the set list though for sure. AND THE LIGHTING COLORS?!  Emma said it was her favorite performance of the night.
WILD RIVERS:
I did some runs of the Sidelines album and just Wild Rivers in general leading up to the show, but still thought I was gonna be hella rusty, when in fact I knew more than I thought I did. Again the stage lighting really set the vibe and the mood for the entire show and it just helped with the overall flow of their set perfectly. Some of the best lighting as an accessory at a show I’ve ever been to. Beyond lighting though, everything else was just great and I had so much fun being in that crowd. When you’re just vibing, feeling good and the crowd is good company, the show is so much better. This wasn’t a show with a bunch of distractions or extra noise. It truly felt like the people who were there, actually wanted to be there. (Still heard a little bit of noise from the way back at the beginning of the night, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as the Joy Oladokun show. At this point I think there’s something wrong with this particular venue’s sound, especially during the openers.)
They played “Amsterdam” early on which set things up for me to not struggle through the set. “Safe Flight” and “Long Time” were top notch live. I love those songs on the album, but live you get all the extra feels and story that come with them too. There were a couple covers thrown in there as well, something I never typically mind at a show. Dropping a non-Complicated Avril Lavigne track with “I’m With You” was much liked by the crowd, however if you ask the crowd for a song to cover and you go with The Backstreet Boys, which they did, you’re going with the safest choice and I wish we as fans/audience members would use our powers better going forward. PS: That’s not a dig on The Backstreet Boys or Wild Rivers, that’s just me saying can we find a new safe option.
The encore of course was “Thinking Bout’ Love” and my heart was just so happy. I took a video clip and I was just as loud as the band, so much so that it’s mainly just a video with me and the crowd as the main audio, with Wild Rivers as background vocals. This is what makes an encore for me and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
The End Of The Night:
I should have gotten a picture with Khalid and Andrew (of Wild Rivers) before the show cause they didn’t come out afterwards, but it’s a lot more common during these particular times to not always come out at the end. Plus the show was sold out, so that is a real factor as well. That being said we did however get to meet Violet and Kyndyl at the merch table. They were both wonderful and very sweet. I’m already ready for them to come back.
I highly recommend y’all check out “If I Saw You Again” Violet’s latest album. It’s so good. If you need more cool, British, pop in your life, this is my nod!
Hello! This is the first story I’m sharing, it’s called Winter Drink. It’s about my OCs enjoying a winter drink?? I made this about a year ago along with some others I will be posting soon. Ok enjoy!
____________________________________
Winter Drink
Trees are shaking and the snow is falling, there's a cool chill in the air in the city. The gray buildings tower the gray sky, it’s very cold out but there's a certain warmth hiding between the cracks of office buildings.
Mimi’s Cafe.
Many find more comfort in the warm shop now that winter has arrived, but warmness is not the only thing the people of Anina Isle are looking for.
“3 Winter Drinks, 2 oatmeal cookies, and some apple pie! Enjoy!” Lily is in a happy mood this time of year, all the lights and happiness in the air makes her smile. “It’s always so busy in December, my feet hurt from standing all day.” Puff says. “Lucky you, I bet skating everywhere is fun.”
“My feet get tired too, mostly my legs because I pick up the skate.” She replies.
Puff’s poodle ears twitch. “Still fun I bet. What do you plan to do for the holidays?”
Lilly rolls over to Puff and leans on the counter. “I guess I'll just spend time with my family and friends. I’ve been saving up a bit to get presents.” She tilts her head to the side, both bunny ears, and tail following the movement.
“How cute.” The door rings and both Puff and Lilly greet them.
“Welcome to Mini’s Winter Wonderland!” Lilly sees it’s her friends.
“Sup Lilly.” Donnie says. “Hello Lilly.” Says Rachel. “Greetings Lilly.” Says Daniel.”Hey Lilly.” Says Luke. “Yo.” Says Rico.
“Donnie, Rachel, Danielle, Luke, and Rico! Welcome! Table for 5 I presume-” Lilly gets interrupted by Ella. “6 actually.” Lilly gets nervous when seeing Ella, she is Luke's girlfriend of 6 mothns. Not everyone in the friend group approves of their relationship. “Yes, yes, my mistake.”Lilly guides the group to a booth at the window.
“I had a feeling you guys would show up so I made sure to keep our favorite table clean.”
“You better have or else I was gonna complain.” Shots Rico, folding his arms.
“Yes I kept it clean. Here are the menus.”
The group looks over the items. “Do you have anything with no gluten? I would also like something with low carbs.” Says Ella. Lilly turns to Ella.
“Mhm! We have many gluten-free, low-carb meals and sweets. They are all tagged with the ingredients next to them.”
“Uh ok.” She replies.
Luke looks nervously around the diner at the interaction. Donnie speaks up ignoring her cousin. “Hey Lilly, what’s this Winter Drink thing?”
“Ah yes, the Winter Drink is a new limited holiday drink. It’s full of all the sweet things that are popular in this season. Like cinnamon, mint, chocolate, peppermint, pumpkin and so much more!”
“So diarrhea in a cup?- Ow.” Donnie shoves Rico. “I’m just asking!”
“Er not really Rico, I’ve had it many times before and didn’t have diarrhea..” Daniel speaks. “I do believe I know what I would like to order. One Winter Drink and a Pumpkin Pie please.”
“Ok, is anyone else ready?”
“Rachel and I will have two Winter Drinks and two 2 chocolate cookies.” Says Donnie.
“Same for me and Ella.” Says Luke.
“Rico do you know what you want?” Lilly tilts her head.
“Just a Winter Drink.” He tosses the menu back.
“Are you sure? You usually order a few sweets.”
“Ok so, there's this girl-”
“Oooooo.” The table says
“And you wanna slim down a bit.” Donnie looks at Rico with a little worry “You’re not doing this for someone else right? Chubby is cute, don’t feel ashamed of it.”
“Of course not! Rico does things for Rico!”
“I may hate you’re slick rat tail and ears but I still wanna make sure you're doing ok. If you need anything, I’ll be here to help.” Resting a hand on Rico’s back his ears flop down from embarrassment.
“Shut up with all your “body positivity” crap, I already know! Miss bodybuilding freak.” He folds his arms and the table laughs.
Lilly starts skating backward. “Ok then, if that’s all you want to order then it’s perfectly fine.” With a smile, she skates away to the kitchen.
--- ---
In the kitchen, there's panic going on and screaming from chefs.
“There's no more!”
“What do you mean there's no more?!”
“It’s all gone!”
“Are you sure there's nothing in the back?”
“Sure, sure!” A chief rushing to the back scrambles looking in boxes and such. “T-This can’t be!” She falls to her knees. Lilly rolls further into the kitchen and tries to assess the situation. “W-What’s going on?” A chef turns to her.
“The sparkling gold powder is all gone! We can’t make any more winter drinks-” Another chef puts a hand over her mouth.
“Keep it down! if the customers hear it will cause a riot!”
Lilly looks at the two stunned. “But my friends are here today and they just ordered.. 1 2 3- 6 winter drinks!” The male chef takes his hand off of the other’s mouth.
“Unfortunately we can’t serve any, but as I said before customers will riot. We can’t even have same-day delivery and will have to come face first with the customers. This is our most popular item since forever, and I’m not ready to deal with Karens!”
Lilly looks back out the window of the kitchen door and sees her friends laughing and smiling. Turning around she has an upset expression on her face.‘I don’t want to let them down… never.’
“You can’t make it without the powder?” The female chef talks. “It’s the main thing that gives it flavor, they will surely know something is missing or taste different from the last time they had it. I don’t wanna be called a liar!”
“What can we do then?”
“Absolutely nothing.” The same chef that fell on her knees comes up. “Our store's pride stops us from telling them we failed, let’s just cry in a corner..”
Lilly thinks for a moment before rushing out the kitchen door. “Don’t worry, I’ll fix this!” She goes up to the cashiers and picks up the store mic. “L-Lilly? What are you doing?” Asked Puff.
Lilly doesn't respond and speaks into the mic. “Attention all customers! We regret to inform you that-” The falling chef from before speaks crying “Oh no! Someone stop her!”
“There will be no more Winter Drinks!” The customers gasp and murmur.
“Did Lilly say there's no more? Asked Rachel.
“She said it’s their new popular drink for the holiday season, I was to expect such an event like this.” Says Daniel.
Lilly sees the worry on everyone’s face and puts her hand up in a calming gesture. “B-Because we found an f-flaw with the drink! Yeah um..” The chef put their hands to their necks in a cutting motion and everyone looks at her weirdly and Puff looks up at her with confusion. Taking a deep breath she begins to speak again.
“Yes there was a flaw with our drink, we apologize. That’s why we are going to replace it with an even better one! I give you the Winter Cookie Special! A warm hot chocolate, cinnamon, marshmallow, and fudge mixture, with a cloud of whipped cream on top. Crushed sugar cookies topping it with a fruit of your choice, and a candy cane straw to go with!” The crowd is silent at first but then people start to clap and cheer, praising the new treat!
The crazy chef comes to Lilly giving her a tight hug. “You did it, I thought you were gonna sell us out! Hahahah!” Lilly notices a sharpened candy cane in her hand.
“Haha…”
Puff folds her arms leaning back on a pillar. “I have no idea what's going on but nice job Lilly, it looks like you saved us from an unknown threat.”
“I’ll tell you about it during break.” The crazy chef grabs Lilly's arm yanking her.
“Now come on bunny girl! You need to show us how to make this fantasy drink you came up with!” Puff laughs as Lilly gets dragged away.
--
Lilly can be seen skating out of the kitchen with two trays of orders back to her friends. “Here you guys go! I hope it’s ok that the order had to be changed.” Lilly puts on an apologetic face.
“It’s all fine and well dear.” Daniel gives her a warm smile.
“Yeah no harm done, it still smells nice and looks yummy.” Says Luke. “Really guys I didn’t let you down?”
“No way kid, from seeing the other patron's reaction I can tell this sounded way better than whatever drink was in its place.” Donnie gives Lilly a wink. Lilly smiles wide passing out the rest of the orders.
Ella gags. “I don’t want mine anymore, maybe the fat rat can have it.” Smirking at the comment obviously meant to harm Rico. When everyone thought Rico was gonna make a mean comeback, the rat simply took a sip of the drink and said. “Wow, this is actually really good Lilly!.” He starts drinking more furiously and so does the others.
“Wow, that's sweet! I fear that if I have this too often my abs will get soft.” Says Donnie.”
“It’s a bit sweet for my taste Lilly but seeing as I am in the presence of you I shall have it all… just… not all at once.” Daniel makes a weary smile as Lilly blushes.
“I think this is my new favorite drink! It’s so cakey and warm!.” Says Luke hugging the lidded cup.
Rachel giggles. “I actually really like it, Lilly, it gives me a certain warmth and comfort.”
“Thank you, Rachel, and everyone for the kind words. MiMi’s only makes the cutest and sweetest treats! Enjoy!” Lilly starts to skate away just when Rachel calls her.
“Hey Lilly, what was all that commotion in the kitchen?”
“Yeah, we could hear rumbling, people arguing, and crying?” Says Donnie. Lilly turns around.
“Let’s just say we had a few hurdles to jump that only a bunny could make.” And with that, she skated away leaving her friends to enjoy their food as she served other patrons.
