RIP to my friend nixie. they stopped watching SPN after season 11. and asked about the finale. i wanted to immortalize what i sent (which includes a recap of seasons 12-15 so they would Understand.) so. read on if you wish, this monstrosity is going under the cut lol
so. in season 12 lucifer possesses the president of the united states (dont worry about it) & impregnates one of the president's staff members who was banging the president behind closed doors, republican Kelly Kline. through a series of events, cas winds up being the Adoptive Father. kid is born, but he had opened a rift to a different alternate universe the show so eloquently named 'apocalypse world'. it is a world where sam & dean were never born. through Another series of events, team free will PLUS mary winchester (yeah shes back from the dead, amara brought her back, dont worry about it lol) & cas tries to kill lucifer. he thinks he did, comes back through , and hes like there for .02 seconds before lucifer pops through & stabs cas. cas dies. mary beats up lucifer with angel brass knuckles or whatever & they fall through the rift & it closes. they are trapped there. at this exact moment, jack kline (kelly kline & lucifer/mr. president's baby) is being born. sam runs into the house to Check On That. dean however, falls to his knees next to cas's body & looks up desperately to the sky. (the cw said Not to read into this. it means Nothing. destiel who?!) also kelly died in child birth. bc spn Hates women.
thats the end of season 12.
season 13, we have jack. he popped out a fully fledged like. 19? 20? 21 year old?? bc his mom said he would have to Grow Up Fast. dean wraps cas's body in a curtain. alone. and is like crying & devastated. the bois and jack burn cas's body & dean looks like he wants to off himself (& he tries to in like. the next episode but Death brings him back). (also sorry im sooo bad at summary lol). we have the Widower Arc where dean bargains with a silent god to bring back cas, but Nothing. and dean is just fucking depressed as all shit. suddenly! cas is back!! BECAUSE jack heard dean yelling at sam about how its jacks fault cas is dead bc when jack was a fetus he showed cas a Vision of how he could bring Paradise On Earth if they allowed him to live (they wanted to kill him bc. like. Spawn Of Satan & all that). so jack uses his Powers™️ & brings cas back from the dead! yay!! a lot of other shit happens & the Empty (which is like. the Entity that encases all the angels & demons when they die, & where cas was when he was dead) Does Not Like that cas escaped. so, it wants to take jack to get back at cas. cas is like 'no fuck off thats my son lets make a deal. take me back instead' & the empty is like 'ok bitch 2 can play that game. i WILL take you. but ONLY when you experience a Moment Of True Happiness™️'. & cas is like 'bet.' bc! hes a depressed mf & figures it would take a Miracle to make him Truly Happy. (pls keep this in mind, its a surprise tool for later). ummm so yeah season 13.
season 14 had like. ANOTHER fucking michael/lucifer arc but it was Stupid. dean said yes to michael like the angels wanted in season fucking 4 & 5. & i dont Totally remember the plot but like. dean has michael trapped in a box in his mind & wants them to?? fucking?? put him in a warded coffin & chunk it in the ocean?? so michael will never hurt the world again?? also--its like. AU michael. and also mary is okay, & we get AU bobby & AU charlie & a lot of shit happens. anyway.
season 15: we get the Divorcr Arc™️!! dean & cas fight!! bc guess what? jack accidentally killed mary!! (yes! she died AGAIN!!) bc! he didnt know how to control his powers! & dean blames cas! so cas Leaves in a big dramatic breakup scene. we also find out that god (aka chuck) has been like. controlling Everything?? & free will Doesnt Exist?? & dean has a crisis & we get cas saying 'dean, you asked what about all of this is real. We Are.' (which we were apparently sooo crazy to read into!!) & also!? chuck brings back ALL the monsters salmon dean ever killed?? and rowena sacrifices herself to save the world! but! dont worry! she is now thenQueen Of Hell™️ & fucking THRIVING! anyway, season progresses, we get purgatory 2.0 and dean & cas are separated & dean lITERALLY GETS DOWN ON HIS OLD MAN KNEES TO PRAY TO CAS AND APOLOGIZE AND SAY HE FORGIVES HIM!! & then. a bit later. chuck starts poofing away Everyone On Earth bc he wants to destroy the multiverse. and also? death wants to kill dean i forget why. oh yeah! i think he stole her Death Book or whatever to try and see how to kill god. anyway. we have episode 15x18. Thee Episode of All Time. it starts with AU charlie and her gf. they are making eggs and vibing and all of a sudden her gf goes Poof. then sams gf Eileen goes Poof. so they round up as many friends as they can & put them in a warded place but they all go Poof. so sam is with the friends when this happens & also jack. and dean & cas have gone to the bunker to Fight Death. and. so. get ready for this. death shows up. she (yeah billie the reaper became death btw. long story) she starts to like. squeeze deans heart to kill him with magic. cas helps dean run through the bunker away from her. they get to the dungeon. death is literally banging on the door which cas had cut his palm to ward with a sigil of his blood with a knife he pulled from deans back pocket. (again: he cut his palm--another Surprise Tool For Later). deans like 'im so sorry man, we should have stayed with sam. shes gonna get in here, and shes gonna kill you, then shes gonna kill me' & cas is like 'well theres one thing strong enough to stop her' & he starts telling dean about the deal he made to save jack (yep, he never told him). and he says 'i always wondered what would break that curse. but i think i know now' & he. he fucking. he starts a speech about how he knows how dean sees himself, as a killer, a monster, daddys blunt instrument driven by anger, just like his enemies see him. BUT cas says dean is Not that. he says dean is 'the most caring man, the most loving man on earth' & deans like freaking out & is like 'why are you telling me all this? why does this sound like a goodbye??' & cas says, crying, but smiling, 'because it is' & then!! cas!! says !! 'i love you' !!!!!!!!! &&&&& death breaks down the door!! && the empty is materializing behind dean! & dean says 'dont do this cas!' & cas grabs deans LEFT SHOULDER WITH HIS BLOODY PALM! & says 'goodbye dean' & shoves him out of the way!! & the empty grabs cas!! && death!! & takes them away!!!!!! && dean is like!! freaking the fuck out sitting on the flooor with tears in his eyes!! && we cut to like. a bit later. hes Still there, crying, head in his hands, as his phone rings on the floor--its sam. end of the world, sam is calling, & he doesnt answer. we end the episode to deans crying. LIKE FUCK!!!!
15x19: they defeat god. jack like. absorbed him?? & he became god?? & then fucked off to do godly duties!? and did Not bring cas back????
(there are Theories that Chuck Won &thats why the next episode is so fucked and i Have To Agree)
15x20: okok. i fucking HATE THIS FUCKINGEPISDORNFMDNFNDNFNDBDND
anyway. so. cas is Not in the episode. at All. we have sam & dean? driving??? & there are like at LEAST 2 very Bad montages of random scenes that dont even make sense. sam & dean go to a pie eating festival. sam shoves pie in deans face. they Thengo on a case. its vampires. theres a vamp from like. season 2?? who was a minor charachter?? but they brought her back?? why??? idk. and. so. dean gets impaled on a rusty rebar nail during the fight scene in thr barn. he gives sam a long ass speech. they ?? touch foreheads for some reason??? && dean wont let sam get help??? & sam is like 'if cas were here...' & deans like 'yeah well he isnt.' like??? && then deAN FUCKING DIES??? && GOES TO HEAVEN??? && BOBBY IS THERE??? AND APPARENLY FUCKING ABUSIVE ASS JOHN LIVES DOWN THE ROAD??? && dean asks bobby 'so jack did all this?' (as in revamping heaven so people can be all together instead of separate like it used to be) & bobbys like 'well, cas helped' & then dean smiles, then goes?? & rides his car!?? bc his car is in heaven????? && we just see him driving interspersed with clips of sam on earth, burning deans body, and grieving dean, and later sam gets a blurry wife, we dont see who she is, and he has a son?? and he named him dean!? whixh we know bc the kid has on overalls that say 'dean' on them??? & then sam gets old and sits in the impala & cries while wearing a wig that looks like its from fucking party city?? then sam is on his death bed and his son is there?? && theres all these pictures around him of himsefl and dean & mary & john but?? no wife!? ans also!!? noone else like their friends?? & then sam dies & carry on my wayward son plays for like the second time in the episode. and we see dean on a bridge in heaven, he finally stopped driving & is staring off into the distance. and then he hears something behind him & smiles & we all thought 'CAS???' but NO its fuckingSAM somehow young again like whendean died?? & theylike. hug. and then it pans out & all the cast & crew are there?? and they say thank you to us for watching?? and then ?? its over?????? like Awhta thWHAT THE FUCK

ok I'm gonna ramble about outer wilds.
if you haven't played it, even if you don't typically care about spoilers, PLEASE avoid spoilers bc this is the most delicate game ever when it comes to spoilers due to the way it's designed. it's one of the few games where spoilers WILL rob you of the experience. with that said,
OUTER WILDS SPOILERS
this is a very very special game to me fgkjldfjk the ending was really beautiful when i first played and the more i thought about and processed it, the more it really stuck with me to the point where i *will* just cry if i think about the ending too much and god i cannot play through that ending again without sobbing. since im assuming people reading this have played the game, yall already know the nature of the game. the only thing you have to gain from anything is knowledge, and once you beat the game, you cant really ever play it again. sure you could maybe go for achievements or explore things you never saw but the experience is kinda just over.
I very much interpreted the ending as being about death. the game has the whole supernova time loop thing going on which sorta makes the idea of respawning a canonical aspect of the game. the fact that you can just hop back into your ship and you dont really have repercussions from death which is a pretty much synonymous with games as a whole tbh is a canonical aspect of the game that you the player AND you the hearthian traveler exploring the universe are a part of. this doesnt immediately seem to special and didn't even click with me very much until quite a bit after i beat the game, but to beat the game is to accept that you're going to die, and truly dying in this game is kinda the closest media has come to communicating what death really means for me at least. you start aimlessly wandering this star system and eventually start to piece things together, you make goals and eventually figure out how to beat the game, etc. all the knowledge you have to gain in this game leads up to the ending. maybe you stop the supernova and save everyone! maybe thats why you're trying to find the eye of the universe! but no, all the stars are dying. you were just unfortunate enough to be born at the end of a dying universe. There's nothing you can do because death is inevitable for you and those around you.
to beat the game is not only to accept that the sun will explode for the last time, that the end of the experience is inevitable, that all your hearthian friends will die for good, but beating the game also requires accepting that *you the player* have reached the end of this experience, *you the player* cannot hang onto anything forever, that the end was inevitable for you too. sometimes i get genuinely sad that i can basically never play this game again, and i almost wonder if my little hearthian protagonist felt similar during the end of the game. that feeling of the inevitable end finally reaching us.
AND DESPITE IT ALL, you finally accept that you are not immortal, that this will not last forever, that the sun cant keep exploding and looping and exploding and looping forever, when you finally accept death on your own terms, when you have no idea of what's in store for you and what will happen next but you take that dive anyway, you just,, get to share a moment with the people close to you. you sit around the campfire as everyone's music comes together for the first time, once *literally* worlds apart, now, in harmony, as the little audio cues to find your friends on each planet become a symphony. they each share messages about how they feel and every single fucking one resonated with me so much sdjklfsklj stuff like "you cut it a little short dont you think?" and "i got to be a part of something really cool, so I've got no complaints" and "the future depends on the past, even if we wont get to see it" and MY FAVORITE FUCKING LINE FROM THE ENTIRE GAME. solanum, the only non-hearthian character around the campfire, a nomai, one of the species that made this all possible, a friend, says something different. she says that this is the end of our journey, and she asks you a question. she just asks if you're ready. its not required to say yes to finish, its not even required to talk to her to beat the game, but if you say no, she will ask again if you are ready whenever you talk to her afterwards, while leaving a message for you in case you are not ready for it to end. she says "its tempting to linger in this moment where every possibility still remains, but unless they are collapsed by a conscious observer, they will never be more than possibilities." when you finally take your final plunge in this moment, you watch the universe collapse before you, remarkably similar to all the times you watched the sun explode before your eyes, and you die.
even though you the player are clearly still alive, (its just a video game after all :p) the experience is over. you died in a way too. this world is no longer yours to explore and discover. after the credits theres a very nice touch where you see the start of a new universe after you enter the eye and the entire universe dies before you. you see some new creatures huddled around a campfire together to remind you that death isn't the end, because "the future depends on the past, even if we wont get to see it" and that maybe it was enough to be a part of something cool, to share those moments with your friends, to explore the universe in whatever unique way you did.
SO WHAT THE FUCK IS ECHOES OF THE EYE
DLC spoilers beyond this point ofc.
if you're like me or countless other players, you probably wanted more, well I've got just the news for you!! theres a DLC !!!! "but wait, doesnt this defeat literally the entire purpose of the game?" yes :D but that's not a flaw, in fact they do this in the best way possible. the DLC challenges the message of the game because there is a fundamental aspect of death that the game barely even touches that the DLC explored *thoroughly*: fear.
chances are, you realize you can beat the game and go beat it and are immensely moved and equally confused by the ending because it takes so much time to process that you never really have a moment to fear death. theres never a moment where you are scared of what comes next because it doesnt really click that this is the end of everything until after the end. in my opinion at least, this is pretty much the only flaw with their portrayal of death and the DLC remedied this.
so it turns out you want more and weren't ready for this to end! its time to explore the owlks and their contributions to this story. im not going to explain their story in depth because im assuming people have played ofc, but key traits with the owlks is that they feared loss. they archived what they wanted to destroy, they lost their home beause of the efforts they made to reach the eye and were horrified, they tried to escape by hiding in a world of their own creation. they hid the eye to prolong the life of the universe as infinitely far as they could. they stumbled across a way to similarly archive one's consciousness, and conquer even death itself, but it was all out of fear. they couldnt accept the end so they hid from it.
and let me just say THE DLC IS FUCKING SCARY. they lean into horror and I think everyone should play it even if they arent into horror. the puzzles arent actually too challenging in execution, and making the discoveries you need is no sweat if you've gone through the base game tbh, although it is very different in a very refreshing way. The real challenge and the real roadblock is fear. some of the things you are required to do are immensely scary and put you into situations you frankly dont want to be in! but if you quit, if you dont do this out of fear, if you hide and if you try to escape this, you're just like the owlks. you dont get through this by not being afraid, you get through this by not letting your fear paralyze you. you need to face your fears (often quite literally as you need to lure owlks away from things and I think its a nice touch that they can also hide from you by turning off their lights and then they can still see you by shining their light towards you even if yours is off FUCK that but this is a bit of a tangent lsdkfgljsd) and if you succeed where they failed, you learn one of the biggest mysteries of the game. you learn why the eye's signal vanished as fast as it appeared, why the nomai failed to find it as effortlessly as the owlks did, but more imporantly, you make a friend :] you meet the owlk that enabled the eye of the universe to be found with a brief decision that they made in a single moment so long ago. the efforts to build upon what the prisoner did were not in vain, and the prisoner accepts death by literally walking into the water as their light goes out. they leave a final message for you, urging you to ride into the exploding sun with them by your side, and you know its time to go beat the game again.
hopefully at this point the ending has sat with you long enough for you to realize what this means. now, more than ever, this is finally the end of the game. you wanted more and you got more but that desire for more similarly cant last forever. the game still needs to end and this is why there should never ever be another DLC for this game please,, a desire for more and a fear of the end kinda come hand in hand, and the fears that you chose to face were not in vain. this is it! theres nothing else! maybe you're sad that the game is ending for the last time, and maybe you still dont want it to end. but in those final moments around the campfire, solanum isn't the only non-hearthian friend around the campfire :] the prisoner is there too wondering if they even deserve to be there after what their kind did, but its over now, everything worked out. they say something really simple that was, without a doubt, the perfect addition to the game for me:
"...How beautiful. It’s different than I’d envisioned.
Whatever happens next, I do not think it is to be feared."
I think one of the reasons this game resonated so much with me is something that I really struggled to grasp until I watched shammy's outer wilds review. there's something so much more significant about *being* rather than just, observing. tons of movies try to tackle these ideas of death and even plenty of games, but with outer wilds, *you* are having this experience that will end that you can never have again. *you* are exploring a world in your own unique way that cannot last forever. and I think that's ok. I think that's what makes it special.
I'm a game dev and an artist and I think outer wilds is genuinely profound. it makes me want to make something that touches people in the way I felt touched by outer wilds. I'm so happy things aligned for me to get to use this same medium for art. I'm gonna go cry now thanks for reading <3

skyward sword link is probably one of the most tragic characters in the entire franchise and if it wasnt for ocarina of time link getting the shit kicked out of him by the narrative at every turn (orphan) (mom died because a civil war was fought over him) (watched his dad die in front of him) (raised under the impression he was an ageless foresr kid who would die if he ever left home) (forced into a coma for 7 years so he could save a kingdom he only just learned existed) (forced into a timeloop of his own creation in an alternate dimension) (watched all of his friends become deities that had to sacrifice being his friend for the sake of saving everyone) (went into the military) (died forgotten and alone) (implied he died because he tried to go back to his childhood home in the lost woods; a death sentence for hylians without fairies to guide them) (lived with so much regret over not preventing the reincarnation cycle that he wandered the earth as a skeletal specter until his great great great great grandson incidentally became the next Hero and he was finally able to pass on what little knowledge he could) (just straight up fucking dies and loses to ganondorf sometimes) (life was so fucked up he split the fucking timeline) then sksw link would probably be the most devastating link we know of which is additionally horrible when you remember hes the first one.
hes not compelled by prophecy or duty or any of that shit-- the *only thing* that motivates him is the prospect of getting zelda back home. its not about hyrule, its not about a prophecy, its not about the triforce or ganondorf or any of that because none of that even EXISTS to him yet-- its about a boy wanting his friend to be back home with him. and he fails *over and over* again-- gets so, so close that he always seems to be just a little too behind to catch up, a little too late, a little too slow, and then--
and then he does it. he catches up. hes on time, finally.
he's told he can finally see her-- that he might actually be able to bring her back home, that "the person you've risked life and blood to defend waits for you" just beyond a pair of doors, and he sees her and--
and he's told that shes not zelda.
that, really, she was never zelda to begin with. and, worse yet, zelda (no, not zelda-- hylia,) looks him in the eye and tells him that she -DELIBERATELY- USED THE FACT HE CARED ABOUT HER AS MUCH AS HE DID TO MAKE SURE HE DID WHAT SHE WANTED HIM TO DO. ALL FOR THE PURPOSE OF A WAR HE NEVER SIGNED UP FOR, ONE THAT WAS WAGED MILLENIA BEFORE HE WAS BORN. ONE THAT HE HAS UNKNOWINGLY BEEN SENT TO FIGHT IN, BECAUSE HE **WANTED HIS FRIEND BACK**, A FRIEND THAT MAY NOT HAVE EVER EXISTED AT ALL.
and he STILL. FUCKING. DOES IT ALL. even in the face of this revelation he STILL JUST WANTS ZELDA BACK. she seals herself away in front of him to ensure the world doesnt end and he RUNS TO HER SO FAST HE TRIPS UP THE STAIRS AND HE STARTS BANGING ON THE SEAL AS IT FORMS AS IF HE COULD GET HER OUT OF THERE AND HE C R I E S O N S C R E E N WHEN SHE STOPS BEING ABLE TO SPEAK TO HIM ANYMORE. AND ITS THEN THAT HE REALIZES SHES NOT COMING BACK WITH HIM-- NOT ANYTIME SOON. NOT UNTIL HYLIAS GOTTEN EVERYTHING SHE WANTS OUT OF HIM-- NOT UNTIL HYLIA GETS THAT UNBREAKABLE HERO SHE ALWAYS WANTED AND HAD TO MANIPULATE JUST TO GET.
and yet! he STILL does it all for zelda DESPITE all of that!! when he succeeds (or at least everyone thinks he does) the FIRST thing he does is see if shes awake yet and he HUGS HER !!!!!!!! AS IF SHE DIDNT ADMIT TO MANIPULATING HIM THE WHOLW TIME TO HIS FACE !!!!!!!!!!!!!
and then. the curse. he does all of this to get her back-- NOT for hylia, not for hyrule, for zelda-- and he gets his soul cursed to endlessly repeat this exact same thing for rest of time until the fucking heat death of the universe (and probably even after that.) the only reason every other game exists-- why this KEEPS FUCKING HAPPENING-- is because a kid couldnt bear to let his friend go, even when she stopped being that friend at all. how fucking INSANE is that. i cannot FATHOM how much that boy cared about her nor how much he grieved and tormented himself over saving her. and lifetimes later he is STILL losing her and saving her and losing her again and again and shes still falling out of the sky and he still cant catch her in time (except he can now, because hes done this all before, hasnt he?) and how that will never, ever end, because no one even remembers the curse besides the one friend he had through it all-- Fi. Fi, who was so distraught that the next time she saw his face again and saw his hands reaching out for her sword on a ten year old boy-- a KID.-- that she ripped open time itself in a futile attempt to not send another child off to hylias war. but shes in the sword and she cant do anything about it other than watch more and more kids with his spirit and his face kill themselves for the sake of a goddess who stopped answering their prayers a long, long time ago.
ok thabk u i think im Done. i canno t Believe nintendo wrote this story the way they did what were they on in 2011. anywyas my favorite fact about all of this is that when zeldas explaining the whole "im not actually a real person, im a goddess and im using your attachment to the person i never was to make you do my bidding" thing it pans over to links face and he looks like. this
Tumblr media
like yeah buddy me too
GIRL /NG WHAT THE FREAK!!!!!!!!! THEY PUT THAT ELF BOY IN THE TORMENT NEXUS :-( WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT TO A SILLY GUY A LIL MAN ...........
ok Me Fact im such a sucker for stories where people try so so desperately to cling onto someone else even when they know that said person is dead and gone and they're never going to get them back and they do so so much to try and get the happy ending that they know that person deserves but its all so futile but they'll never admit it even if it kills them and good LARD i did not expect such a thing out of the funny haha HYAAA nintendo franchise. i just think its so cool omg
also im obsessed with links face. hes got that fucking O_O stare. put him in a kennel my god hes like a sick dog

You know i feel like a part of the reason the manga falls a bit flat to me is the fact many themes just dont get carried through.
Well, its more accurate to say they don’t get build up.
Quirkless discrimination and quirk discriminatiom in general? Certain characters talk about it but we don’t see it perpetuated in UA or other heroes in general after the characters backstory.
Like we are told through monoma and shinsou and midoriya that you are discriminated against by your quirks or lack there of. But we dont get to hear any of class 1-A talk about their experienxe despite many of them having ‘useless’ or ‘villanous quirks’. Hell we dont even see any quirkist attitudes portrayed by the class or other heroes. Its hard to see quirkism as an in universe issue if no one from the main cast seems to hold those beliefs even though they should. (Ans that does mean the narrative acknowledging theyre wrong and not skimming over them). (Like its never acknowledged that bakugou may be quirkist at all by other characters even though he should still have those beliefs)
Incidentilly, it makes it hard to related to our villians if we dont have anyone explicitly acknowledge that shared experience. It also undermines midoriya’s character as that shift from his treatement as quirkless to a powerful wuirk should have gotten more focus. Its a massive social shift and im surprised there arent instances someone says something about quirklessness since he was bullied for it extensively so it must be something people have an opinion about.
Same issue with corruption in society. It was shoe-horned with stain and lady nagant so we never see the consequences or people perpetuating corruption. We dont have ant corrupt heroes so we dont know anything about the scalw of it.
We are routinely told issues but we rarely see the lasting consequences of it.
Mt Lady and Uwambi being primarily going after media attention isnt addressed much beyond fan service. Theyre still good heroes so it feels that the celebrity aspect doesnt impact them.
Endeavour being overly violent ( and also bakugou) isnt never addressed as a negative trait often enough. So we dknt see any consequences of how being overly violent could cause the corruption pf society to fester. We only have the liscensing exam address this and its treated as a joke and not a major issue.
The world feels underdeveloped in mha. So many things that should affect society not getting shown and its consequences properly addresses. And it ends up dragging the characters down with it as well.
Long Anon is back! Glad you didn’t get eaten by the snake demon! (Or I think it’s you? Be weird if I got two anons that have long asks. Pleasant but odd.)
But you hit on a key flaw in the manga’s writing; it tells you that certain things are happening but hardly ever shows it.
We see a bit of quirkless discrimination at the start of the manga but it never pops up again. (Unless you count All Might’s belief that the world has to believe he was born powerful.) So, that suggests that Izuku wasn’t picked on because he was quirkless, but because everyone was sucking up to Bakagou. We don’t even get flashbacks of anyone other than Bakagou picking on Izuku for not having a quirk. (Okay, Bakagou’s lackies but they only acted when Bakagou was around from what we’ve seen.)
We’re told that mutants are discriminated against, however, we never see it. Even with side materials, the worst we’re shown is that the world hasn’t made a lot of accommodations for larger mutants. Which sucks but keep in mind quirks have only been around for a handful of generations and a LOT of things need to be handled. However, there have been scenes that show that the world is trying to pick up the slack. (Though I don’t have it on me right now, I will be tackling this when I can.) The worst we’ve seen in the story of discrimination against mutants is when Shinsou called Ojiro a monkey, that’s all I can recall.
Speaking of Shinsou, his whole character is built around the fact that he’s struggling to be a hero because he has a quirk others deem villainous. But aside from one scene where some kids are being condescending assholes we never see this. We see people requesting he not use it on them and with good reason; despite the fact it makes others uncomfortable, Shinsou is very trigger-happy with his quirk, so they have to ask him. And when I say "uncomfortable," I mean that they don’t like losing control of their bodies or not remembering what they did, not that they’re scared of it. In fact, we never see Shinsou ostracized for his quirk, quite the opposite. We see everyone stating how awesome his quirk is and how they think he’ll an excellent hero. Because of this, it’s annoying when he goes on about how he could never be a hero because of his quirk.
Most irritating thing? There was an easy way to fit it in! At the Sports festival, have some of the heroes state that Shinsou’s quirk is creepy. Then when he’s doing his test with Class A and B, the teen could have flashbacks to others calling him a villain in his old school. Not only would the latter help us to sympathize more with Shinso, but it would have made the compliments he got mean so much more.
As is though, it looks like the only condemning Shinsou is Shinsou. (He reminds me of Goob from “Meet the Robinsons.”) The only reason he didn’t get into the hero course was that he was out of shape. If an invisible girl with no other strengths and Ojiro who is basically normal except for having a fluffy tail could get in, then he could have too. Honestly, it feels like he’s just ignoring actual obstacles and focusing on a made-up one in his head.
Monoma—sorry, even though I like him, my mind is mostly blank. I do recall that from what we’ve seen he’s one the best fighters against Class 1-A, even going toe-to-toe with Bakagou and nearly winning. I don’t recall more than a throwaway line that he says addressing the fact he was discriminated against.
As for the heroes—again, we’re told that they’re as bad as the villains, but while we’ve seen the hero’s commission acting iffy, we haven’t seen any heroes take advantage of their position of power or do anything bad. There are only two exceptions;
One is Hawks, who killed Twice. However, it can be argued that he had a right to as Twice was a known criminal part of a terrorist organization, and killing him was for the greater good as his quirk could have been used to hurt a lot of innocent people. And then there’s Endeavor, who is shown to be a very, very shitty father and a husband who should do jail time for his abuse, but is still a decent hero who does his job and protect lives. And—unlike others—he acknowledges his crimes and makes no excuses. He takes full blame and doesn’t ask anyone to forgive him. Rather, he states that he wants to earn it if he can’t. He even acknowledges that in some cases he might not be able to do so, but even then he still tries to do what’s right.
So, to reiterate the manga is terrible at showing, not telling. And even with the telling most of it is done in one-line lines. This is a big deal as all of these are major things for plots and characters. If you’re going to introduce stuff like this, you need to have solid evidence. As of now we just have he said, she said, they said.

Wait, what timeline issues does Lisa have?
its not known how long ago the flash happened, but its implied that buzzo directly helped yado to cause it, or at least facilitated everything that came after. thats muddled because the first time we see yado mention olathe is when brad is a kid, but buzzo is approximately lisas age, and lisa is a baby in that same flashback. so buzzo was either a baby at this time or not even born. that makes placing a timeline on the flash confusing; how long it happens after lisas death is not certain
similarly, its unclear when buddy was born; brad still had a full head of hair when he first found buddy, but by the start of the game, he is completely bald on top, which has to have taken at least a few years. its also suggested that the flash had happened several years ago by that point, as brad & the uncles are shocked to see a baby, and the youngest known characters in the game aside from buddy (im thinking specifically of salvation green, the kid who makes puns, and the magician kid) are likely in the 18-25 age range, while buddy is clearly much younger. even salvation black is shown as a child after the flash, and given that he seems quite a bit older than the very young salvation green, it definitely suggests that it has been at minimum 20 years.
this one i can be more generous toward, since lisa the first is meant to be highly interpretive and we dont even know that this is correct, but in lisa the first, lisa is shown to have memories of her mother, as well as what might debatably be memories of marty before he was abusive. this is effectively retconned in lisa the painful by brads flashback, where marty is already abusive when lisa is an infant - theres pretty much no way she could have those memories if this was the case. again, the first is highly interpretive and theres no way to confirm that she was specifically remembering old times, but that does punch a huge hole in the plot if the point of these scenes were to be reflections on lisas childhood.
p much the real shit boils down to the flash timeline & buzzos age being uncertain, so it makes the time between the great flash and the start of the game fall anywhere between 10 to 20 years apart. its not crucial to know exactly when it all happened in the context of the game - and some might even say that not knowing is better, because it puts you in the same temporal limbo state that the characters are in - but knowing does change certain things. for example, if yado somehow recruited buzzo to help him build olathe shortly after lisa died, he would have probably been her age, so no older than 13 or 14. that certainly changes the connection between them drastically, more than if buzzo had been in his 20s or 30s when he started working with yado.
like i said before, i dont think its the end of the world if this is not explicitly stated in the game proper - and with the story lisa is going for, not knowing may be more beneficial. but the way the story is told makes the timeline feel muddled in an unintentional way, as if austin himself doesnt know. that can also be fine, but in this specific case, i think it would be more impactful if austin did have a timeline for the events of the games universe in mind, and just decided to pick & choose what tidbits to share with the player. that would make the confusion feel more deliberate and engaging, as opposed to a bit of a dev error that needs to be parsed LMAO

i think ive always been really into the fantasy of immortality & time loops & ghost-type afterlives because . well. i dont know i always feel like there is more to learn, something im missing, something i havent done yet that im missing out on. so to get to the end of a game that's all about learning the missing pieces and be able to finally just, finish and let it go is such a therapeutic experience. its about accepting death and moving on and it taps in so well to that fantasy of wanting to have enough time to truly come to terms with everything. idk. its a peace.
#red.txt#and like... i dont know#the fact that there just. is no answer and that in of itself is the answer#there isnt a 'why' for the greatest mysteries posed by the universe#why do the twins do that with the sand? why do the jellies move like that in giants deep? how do the anglerfish survive dark bramble?#there is no answer; they just do. thats just how the universe works; its just nature#nothing is personal#and its not happening because of you but its also not happening *for* you#youre just lucky enough to get to witness it#to see everything#and at the end of the day what mattered the most was the connections you made to others#thats what *made* it matter#in the face of a universe that will carry on; live and die; regardless of if you're there or not#what matters is whose with you. what matters is what we learn and do and create.#the people we meet and places we see#even the connections we make with people so separated by time and circumstance and distance that we could never have met#our connections to art and music and history and home. thats what gives meanings to these small lives that would otherwise seem insignifica#nt#and when youre ready. you can always come home.#and just. the world doesnt just *end* when we end. the universe is born again and it lives again and one day it will die again#and all of these wonderful things will be gone#but none of this is *new*#everything is built on the past even if we cant see it. nothing is created or destroyed it just changes form. the dead animal feeds grass.#man. man. mannnnnnn video games.

just read the NotHuman!MC posts and I love them, and then I remembered the Run Rabbit Run song and this came to my head: what if they somehow get the resources and the balls to see MC's memories to find out more about them. But MC's there with them watching as well. Then they start singing the song as a memory of MC running away from someone or something starts playing. And at the end the current MC turns to them with a stoic face and tears in their eyes
idk, enjoy!
This scene feels familiar.... did you watch steven universe?
FINALE NON HUMAN MC
Tumblr media
"So? Where would we even start?" Says Mammon as he continues starring at the door, debating whether or not he shouls go look for you or not.
To be honest most of the individuals in the room werent sure on how to solve this dilemma with you, yes you are this terrifying being but you never really attempted to cause harm on any of them. One could not help but feel bad for your treatment, you didnt deserve it.
Then an idea lighted up on none other than the wizars himself. Solomon brought a hand up to his chin and pondered on how good of an idea this could be, then again if done well then perhaps this tension between everyone could be solved. "I think i might havw an idea, but.. im not sure even MC will like it" he finally says.
The prince looked over at him and, with the others, waited for him to continue. Solomon took a deep breath before continuing. "I believe to know of a spell that can share one's memories with others, however this spell has a terrible reputation and to be honest... i've never peformed it myself, at least not in a long time".
"Why would we even wanna see MC's memories though? That wouldnt help us with the problem at all. If anything it might make them angrier" responds belphegor. He does have a point, why share your memories with the people who've only treated you like crap? Its not like it'll change much will it?
" well MC is what in the human world we'd call a cryptid, they're something we only know so much about. " starts Solomon to explain, "if we see they're memories we can get a better view of what it's like to be them and maybe we can solve this issue better". The others seem to start agreeing with this proposal.
"I mean it does make sense" says Satan, "most of us are demons, we have a bad reputation, for humans they have a very specific idea of what we look like and how we act like when in reality its different".
A bit more of talking happens and everyone seems to agree in the end that this spell might do the trick, problem now is who will find you? You ran away, you left and very angry. If any of the boys were to come up to you and say the wrong words then they will most likely meet thirteen or her pals before planned.
It is then that it is agreed that only certain individuals could confront you: Lucifer, Diavolo and Barbatos. The first born seemed hesitant at being the one to catch you, howwver he couldnt just openly admit such a thing. The prince would go but his loyal butler isnt sure of how he could do so without ending up hurt, thus leading the him stopping said prince.
"Barbatos please we need to find MC, cant you at least tell me where they're at?" Says diavolo. "I can but what if it goes wrong and you get hurt? The horror your father would have if he knew an eldtrich being left his son in terrible conditions... and youre the only heir for the throne as well, which could make things worse" responds in concern the butler demon.
The prince sighs as he recognizes, and understands, the fear his most trusted worker has against you. This doesnt mean that Barbatos doesnt want to help you, its just that he has seen stuff about you he wishes he could unsee. Of course the most expierenced of demons has lived through some shit but that doesnt change the fact that he cant feel uneased by certain things.
The eldest brother walks up to him and insists he uses his future vision one last time to find you. Being 2 agaisnt 1 there is only one thing the demon can really do. "Fine. However im still not fond of the results that can come from this interaction. My lord please be careful once you find MC, i cannot tell you with confidence what might occurre" says the butler before revealing your current location.
You sat melancholically next to some stairs, you werent sure of where to go to be honest so you decided to just stay at RAD instead. You stairs at the horizon contemplating your misery when the prince finds you. The royals and eldest stand now infront of you, claiming to just wanna talk.
"Forget it, i said what i said and no long torture sections or hangings at the chandelier will make me regret anything" you tell them while you turn to avoid eye contact.
"MC we arent here to make you apologize, we wanted to apologize" says Lucifer, taking a step closer to you. You take a step back however and stare at him not believing him in the slightest.
"And im supossed those words to believe the avatar of pride?" You ask. "MC.." starts diavolo, "we all mean it, we want to fix things, you were correct. Im very sorry for not doing better, specially since i was the one who planned this exchange program out" he goes on.
Diavolo continues to apologize for he lack of professionalism with you and even says he wants to start over if necesarry just to fix this rocky relationship between everyone. You turn to look at him and continue to listen. Maybe he does mean it? But this feels familiar... like a trap almost.
You dont even get the chance to realize this however for everything quickly turns black. You only wake up to Mammon and Asmo starring down at your unconcious form. "Finally they're awake" says Mammon with a sigh. He offers his hand at you but you stand up with no help. "Im sorry for placing the spell MC but we want to understand things better" starts saying Solomon as he steps closer to you.
You all find yourselves in the earth's woods? But it isnt modern day woods with the loud noises of the town and the annoying families and friend groups damaging the wilderness, no. This is... different.
You remember this place, its a place that will forever stick with you. A bunch of yelling coming from far away, getting only closer and louder. "What is that? Where even are we??" Says Levi who is as equally confused as the rest of the boys here with you. The floor shakes as the yelling gets louder.
A creature that is not recognizable to most of the demons or angels appears on top of the hill where the screaming comes from. The creature continues to run down the path and enters the woods, a mob of townsfolks follows right behind them. "WHAT WAS THAT THING!?" says Satan in horrors. You stay quite.
The scenary quickly changes to somewhere else, different but similar as the previous one. The town where you all find yourselves now at seems more advanced than the previous one, however one can only say so much when judging the people who went towards the monster.
"Wait what is happening?" Is asked yet again by one of the brothers. "Wasnt Solomon's spell supposed to show us MC's memories??" Asks another one. "It is..." you respond, breaking your silence as the monster of before appears yet again leaving the village.
Your life has been full of running, fear, pain, everytime you think youre finally safe someone discovers the truth and exposes you for who you really are. Cryptids have always had it this way, minding their own business until humanity arrives and ruins it for everyone. It doesnt matter if the species as it is isnt agrresive, because humans will make them agressive. At least they'll accuse your defensive mecanisms as agressive.
You gave up on being yourself thanks to this, and instead have been working for so long to blend in and not die. Why must it be so hard to be you? To be happy? To live a happy life and not feel threathened by those you dont like you... its not fair.
Your existence isnt fair.... and the god who cursed you of living isnt fair.
The spell finally breaks and you wake up in the council room, where the prince, butler and right hand man carried you back to. You dont feel well.
Why? Just why cant people mind their own business? No one needed to know what you were, less did they need to see your life through your eyes. Its not fair, you cant have anything good can you...
"MC? Are you ok?" Asks the prince seeing your lack of composure.
You turn to face Diavolo and the others, your face says more than a million words right now. Its up to you to figure out how you'll respond...
-------------------------------------------------------
Thats it, thats cryptid MC, im sorry if its badly done the final part but i cant put what i want to write into words and honestly i lost inspo ay the end
Still hopefully you guys liked this series and maybe in a future, (when i finally meet the newbies) i might make an extra part with them, but until then..

dear tumblr user crim wickedpact pls write the essay/dissertation about nicky being shakespeare's fair youth (if you have time, ofc!!)
Not To Imply Nicky Was Shakespeare’s Fair Youth But Ive Read The Fair Youth Sonnets & Nicky Was Definitely Shakespeare’s Fair Youth, an essay by me, tumblr user crim wickedpact
background knowledge: our man shakespeare wrote some 120 sonnets about a young man referred to as the Fair Youth during the mid 1590s; there has been some debate among shakespeare enthusiasts whether shakespeare’s interest in the Fair Youth was platonic or romantic (but like. they were definitely romantic). no one knows for sure who the Fair Youth was, but it was definitely nicky and my first and most important piece of evidence regarding this hypothesis is the ‘lmao babe do you remember that guy who had a crush on me?’/ ‘i try not to remember the guy who had a crush on you’ look joe and nicky exchange when Merrick brings up shakespeare during the movie. especially since gina confirmed in a tweet that joe and nicky canonly did know shakespeare
Tumblr media
my second piece of evidence is that it just Works (except for a couple small facts like.. the Fair Youth was prolly closer to his 20s than his 30s. and the fact that shakespeare implies that the Fair Youth slept with his mistress at one point. but he doesnt know what hes talking about shhh we IGNORE)
long post under cut
A. The Description Matches
when describing the Fair Youth (who I’ll call the FY from now on), shakespeare says he has a ‘gold complexion’ and ‘beautiful eyes’ and compares him to a ‘summer’s day’. He says the FY has “A woman’s gentle heart" and “An eye more bright than [women’s are], (...) Gilding the object whereupon [they] gazeth”
As much as shakespeare’s perceptions of sexuality and gender are very........  late 1500′s (whoo boy sonnet #20 is a wild ride) ...... the description does match, and also:
  B. The Fair Youth Refused to Get Married
it’s never really said why one way or another (shakespeare assumes it’s because the FY is selfish) but the FY didn’t/wouldn’t take on a wife and have a kid, and this was something that was a real sticker for our man Willy S. because, as he says in his sonnets a million times: beauty doesn’t last forever, but having a child not only passes down the FY’s beauty, but also blesses the woman the FY would have a child with (im not saying shakespeare wanted to bear the FY’s children, but he definitely did)
Whose fresh repair if now thou not renewest, Thou dost beguile the world, unbless some mother. For where is she so fair whose uneared womb Disdains the tillage of thy husbandry?
(ie. If you don’t renew yourself/ have children, you deprive the world and deprive a woman from having your child, since what woman out there is so beautiful that she wouldn’t want to bear your child?)
Like.
1.) if nicky is the FY then so many of these poems center around the idea of nicky growing old sometime soon and that must have been pretty funny to Nicky and
2.)  the fact that shakespeare would have been So Desperate for nicky to find a wife must have been the opposite of funny to joe. considering the ease of his and nicky’s relationship and the fact that being gay in late 1500s england was probably not a walk in the park, it is very likely shakespeare wouldn’t have known they were in a committed relationship-- or at least not known how close they actually were. Thus:
  C. The Rival (aka. Joe)
shakespeare mentions having a poetic rival in regards to the FY in several sonnets. In sonnet #21 he talks about how he’s not like Those Other Writers who use grand metaphors to talk about their muses
So is it not with me as with that Muse, Stirred by a painted beauty to his verse, Who heaven itself for ornament doth use And every fair with his fair doth rehearse, Making a couplement of proud compare With sun and moon, with earth and sea's rich gems, With April's first-born flowers, and all things rare,
(ie. I’m not like other poets who, when inspired by a ‘painted beauty’ use heaven and every other beautiful thing on the planet to make a grand comparison to their muse: he specifically lists the sun and moon as examples as well as other beautiful things)
He then goes on to say
And then believe me, my love is as fair As any mother's child, though not so bright As those gold candles fixed in heaven's air:
(ie. my love [the FY] is as beautiful as any other beautiful person, though I wouldn’t compare them to the stars/heavens (which is what he means by the 'gold candles’. those are stars.))
So shakespeare insults poets who compare their subjects to the sun, moon, and stars (amongst other things) and in the comics, Joe does literally exactly that
That man is the stars in my sky, and the sun that lights my days. That man is the moon when I'm lost in darkness, and warmth when I shiver in cold.
shakespeare also goes on to say in the same sonnet “Let them say more that like of hearsay well / I will not praise that purpose not to sell” which is to say ‘let people who like that kind of language use it, I wont because I don’t want anyone else to have the subject of my affections (the FY)’.
(which is a bit of a contradiction regarding his feelings abt the FY getting married, but these sonnets are full of contradictions. shakespeare was a confused dude; man spent the first 100 or so sonnets convinced the FY loved him back only for him to start wondering if the FY ever loved him near the end)
(not to mention Marriage For Love wasnt really.. much of a thing in Ye Olden Times but thats a different conversation. so shakespeare prolly didnt associate marriage with love/competition? anyways)
Shakesy-boo goes on to complain about this rival several times. In #79, he says
Yet what of thee thy poet doth invent He robs thee of, and pays it thee again. He lends thee virtue, and he stole that word From thy behaviour; beauty doth he give, And found it in thy cheek: he can afford No praise to thee, but what in thee doth live.
(ie. everything ‘your poet’ (as the FY apparently favored this unnamed rival) says about you, he takes it from you in the first place. he talks about your virtue, but learned the word from watching your behavior. he calls you beautiful but only discovered beauty by looking at your face. every compliment he gives you he took from you in the first place)
[and, as a smaller example, he also bemoans the fact that people want to paint the FY in #67, saying, “Why should false painting imitate his cheek, / And steal dead seeming of his living hue?”. and yknow. Joe’s an artist.]
And then another example in #86
Was it the proud full sail of [the rival’s] great verse, Bound for the prize of all too precious you, That did my ripe thoughts in my brain inhearse, Making their tomb the womb wherein they grew?
Was it his spirit, by spirits taught to write Above a mortal pitch, that struck me dead?
(ie. he’s talking about how he’s having difficulty writing abt the FY and is rhetorically asking if ‘the proud sail’ of the rival’s verses was the reason his ‘ripe thoughts’ were killed in their ‘womb’. He then asks (again rhetorically) if it was the rival’s ‘spirit’ (or creativity, maybe) ‘’’‘by spirits taught to write’’’’ that killed his own drive to write. none of the analyses I’ve read really explain what shakespeare means by ‘spirits taught to write’, other than maybe being a joke or reference to something we dont know, but... ‘taught by dead people to write in a way mortal people can’t’ very much sounds like a description of an immortal poet, eh?)
Which brings me to,
  D. Willy Boy Thinks There Are 500 Year Old Writings About the Fair Youth
shakespeare talks about people having written about the FY ‘500 years ago’ from the late 1500s in #59 which......................... would have been around 1100 AD. :thinking face:
Oh that record could with a backward look, Even of five hundred courses of the sun, Show me your image in some antique book, Since mind at first in character was done, That I might see what the old world could say To this composed wonder of your frame;
(ie. Oh if I could look back 500 years and see how you were described in some old books so I could see/reference what people used to write about you)
Which again brings me to,
  E. I’m Not Saying shakespeare Stole From Joe, But:
1.) In #22, shakespeare says this,
For all that beauty that doth cover thee, Is but the seemly raiment of my heart, Which in thy breast doth live, as thine in me:
(ie, your beauty is due to the ‘clothes’ my heart gives you-- probably means something like ‘you’re beautiful because i love you’. goes on to say his heart lives in the FY’s chest, and the FY’s heart lives in shakespeare’s chest)
so: shakespeare tells the FY he has shakespeare’s heart. in comparison, Joe calls nicky ‘my heart’ in the comics...... :thinking face x2:
2.) In #109, shakespeare tells the FY ‘thou art my all’,
For nothing this wide universe I call, Save thou, my rose, in it thou art my all.
which rings similar to Joe’s ‘he’s all and he’s more’ as well as (from the comics) ‘he is my everything’
and just saying. joe looks pretty #done the mention of shakespeare.
Tumblr media
  F. The last One
Despite shakespeare writing 30+ poems about the FY eventually growing old, the very last poem he writes about/for the FY says,
O thou, my lovely boy, who in thy power Dost hold Time's fickle glass, his sickle hour; Who hast by waning grown, and therein showest Thy lovers withering, as thy sweet self growest.
(ie. you [the FY] have power over the ‘mirror’ (fickle glass) of time as well as time’s ‘harvesting’ ability (sickle hour) and as you grow older, you remain beautiful while your lovers [shakespeare] wither and grow old)
The transition from ‘get married and have a baby before you get old!!!!’ in #1-20 to talking about the FY’s presence in 500 y/o books in #59 to admitting the FY isn’t growing old in #126 kinda seems to imply shakespeare learning of/about nicky’s immortality at some point, and this last poem is him accepting it.
TLDR: not only does it make perfect sense if nicky was the Fair Youth from the FY sonnets, but it also makes perfect sense if joe was the Rival from the FY sonnets. its canon nothing will convince me otherwise

@ohcoolnice @whyyoudo I couldn't get the concept of han seok and junwoo being two different people out of my head so on this vincenzo-less sunday I give you a loose rewrite of canon where jun woo is the third jang brother and han seok's twin!
They were born jang han seok and jang han sol, and han seok is the older twin. They were separated when they were very young, because of han seok and an incident which ended up with han sol in the hospital. It was supposed to be temporary, but one of the house staff took pity on the poor child and smuggled him away. His name was changed to jun woo and they didn't find him again until both him and han seok were adults
They grew up very differently, han seok under the jang family, tormenting han seo and becoming the unhinged, solitary figure we all know and hate, and jun woo in an adopted family somewhere across the country into the dorky, sweet intern we knew for a bit and loved
Both of them somehow ended up spending time in america, though neither knew and they never met. Han seok because his father sent him there and jun woo because he got a scholarship to go to university there
Very few people now know about han seok himself, much less his twin brother. Before han seok's chairman takeover, most people think han seo is the only jang child
Jun woo knows he has a twin brother, but he doesnt know who he is. He can't remember his name or his face, or those of his real family. When he receives an offer for a job at wusang, he takes it as a learning opportunity and accepts
The only one who has all the cards is han seok, and so when he hears that jun woo has become an intern at wusang he decides its time to play them
So he spends people to observe and record jun woo, and after things start heating up and chayenzo declares war on babel, he kidnaps and threatens him, and tells him that he has to let him cosplay as him so that he can scope out the increasing threat
This is not how jun woo had ever thought meeting his long lost twin brother would go. He tries to put up a fight, but han seok hits him in the stomach with the hockey stick he's wielding like some kind of ancient weapon so hard that he spits out blood, and that takes the fight out of him
Han seok crouches down in front of jun woo and stares him in the eye, and it's like looking into a mirror except his reflection is staring at him with chillingly blank eyes.
It's the same for han seok, except his reflection looks back with open terror. The feeling it gives him is unpleasant and han seok doesn't like seeing weakness like that on a face that could pass for his own. But if he wants to get what he wants, he can't harm his twin too much just yet
Visually they're identical, so han seok passes perfectly for jun woo. He doesn't get all his mannerisms right at first, but with practice basically no one can tell the difference unless they look hard enough to notice that han seok's eyes are always empty even when he's copying jun woo's biggest grin.
A part of han seok feels a flash of jealousy at the fact that his twin has had a pleasant and fulfilling life while he's had to live neglected in the shadows for so long, so he takes extra satisfaction in the way jun woo's face falls when he appears in front of him for the first time dressed in his work attire, indistinguishable from jun woo on the average week day, backpack and all.
To spite him even further, han seok mimics his cheery, enthusiastic way of speaking, smiling so widely that it's mocking, and embraces the glee that jun woo's downtrodden expression gives him
He does hate having to curl his hair to copy jun woo's usual hairstyle though
At this point han seo finds out he has a second older brother, because han seok wants him to be able to continue to act normal and not freak out if he sees him cosplaying as jun woo
This brother is identical to his other one but actually really nice to him and it's both incredible and completely terrifying. It takes han seo a while to warm up to jun woo because he looks so much like han seok, as well as for fear of han seok's reaction, but he gets there
Whenever they meet (usually bc of han seok) the two bond over their shared fear and hatred of han seok. There's twice the himbo power. Incredible
Jun woo had had no idea that he had a younger (half) brother, and his heart goes out to him for having to live under han seok's abuse for so long
So he makes an effort to get to know han seo when han seok isn't around to yell at them. Han seo appreciates this a lot, because jun woo is like han seok on his incredibly rare good days except much better and all the time
Being a veteran at Handling Han SeokTM, he gives jun woo tips on how to get on han seok's good side and avoid getting things thrown at you
Jun woo tells han seo that one day when they get free of han seok they should take a trip to disneyland. Han seo, who has never been to an amusement park before, makes him promise it
Han seok's babel boss reveal presentation goes more or less the same way, except it's also a twin reveal and choi myung hee and mr han have to deal with the fact that not only is their intern the babel chairman's twin brother, but they have also been switching places regularly
Meanwhile cha young, who is out there living her best anti big pharma life, thinks jun woo is acting weird. Some days he's super bubbly, almost too bubbly, and on other days he's more subdued, seemingly a bit on edge.
Biggest red flag comes when she, him and vincenzo eat spicy food together
The spicy food tolerance gene missed han seok altogether and endowed han seo and jun woo with its power
So though he doesn't protest when cha young orders the extremely spicy dish jun woo usually gets for him, han seok struggles to finish the food almost as much as vincenzo does
Cha young thinks that's really sus, but she keeps her questions to herself because there's really no explanation for it unless jun woo was replaced by a government clone or aliens. Or his secret identical twin. Hah, imagine
She files the thought away for later and they continue to dig into the man behind han seo and babel. They find out about han seok, but there's no remaining information about jun woo in the files because the jang family thought losing him was supremely embarrassing so they tried to make sure no one knew
Meanwhile han seok is super happy he's gained another protective shield. If babel gets into trouble he can force han seo to go to jail for him, and if he ever gets personally exposed he can make jun woo take the fall for him. Genius
For that purpose he makes sure no one except the babel quartet know about him and jun woo being twins
He finds that it's interesting living as jun woo though, people interact with him in a way they never do when he's han seok. Jun woo's neighbours say hello to him when he goes by, and the lady in the local convenience store makes small talk with him and asks how his new job is going. And cha young is an incredibly unusual person, han seok finds that he has some level of attraction to her, and enjoys her company
While han seo is a puppet, jun woo is a mask, a protective measure and a means to explore the world, and han seok mentally pats himself on the back for having such useful brothers
But he has to stop spending time pretending to be jun woo for now bc he knows his identity is at risk of being discovered by jipuragi squad as they hunt down the person who exposed vincenzo as a mafia member
So when vincenzo does find out that han seok is allegedly jun woo, and tells cha young, it actually isn't han seok she's sitting with when she receives the news
Naturally she doesn't know this, and she feels supremely betrayed
And when vincenzo breaks into 'han seok's' house, it's actually jun woo's house. Jun woo, who was not expecting the mafia to break into his house, is understandably scared. The kneeling gun scene goes down, except there is no bravado on jun woo's part and he's genuinely terrified
Vincenzo is arrested as planned, and jun woo meets cha young in the police station as she goes to help vincenzo
She's furious, and jun woo honestly denies that it was him who killed her father and the babel victims, unable to expose that it was han seok because he's scared of the consequences and because it sounds like such a ridiculous excuse
Poor guy gets the double slap intended for his twin brother
When han seok hears about it he laughs a lot. Jun woo is understandably angry about his reaction, but he is forced to seethe in silence
Nevertheless han seok decides to go into hiding (and forces jun woo to do the same somewhere else, hiring guards to make sure he doesn't leave) because even if chayenzo think jun woo is the babel chairman, they still have the same face
Unfortunately for han seok this means that vincenzo's spy squad see him going into his own safe house, and he gets to be the victim of the drugged water
After a few more near death scares courtesy of the local mafia man, choi myung hee suggests he reveal himself as chairman so he doesn't die at the hands of vincenzo unknown and like a loser. And so he does
At the expense of jun woo, whose identity has more or less been stolen now, and who is now indefinitely confined to the family property han seok had him hide in
The war begins all out, and jipuragi squad works hard at removing han seok's support circle, starting with daechang daily, then the anti-union activities
Han seo watches all this unfold and starts to wonder how he can get his better older brother free while taking down the other one
The answer comes to him when he sees chayenzo cover han seok with pigs blood. They're the only people who seemed to consistently be able to one up han seok, and he has only heard good things about cha young from jun woo, not to mention the fact that surely even han seok can't defeat a mafia member in the long run
So he asks mr han to help him meet vincenzo, and he tells him he has twin older brothers and asks for his help in betraying the bad one and saving the good one
Vincenzo thinks he's messing with him, and turns down han seo's request to be on the same side
But then jipuragi squad opens the guillotine file, and there below han seok's escapades in homicide and the details on han seo's suffering, is the shocking secret of the jang family, the existence of a 3rd jang brother, han seok's twin brother jang han sol
Cha young remembers how jun woo hadn't been able to eat spicy food that one time and suddenly everything makes sense
For his part vincenzo remembers what han seo had said and mentally kicks himself for thinking it was a lie
They puzzle over what this could mean and where han seok's twin brother could be now. Is the man who revealed himself as the babel chairman the real han seok? Are both of them evil? Is one being used by the other?
Cha young silently wonders which times jun woo had just been jun woo, and which times she had been eating lunch or joking with han seok the babel chairman and serial murderer
They decide they have to find the other jang twin in order to answer their questions
Problem is that he's been absent from work for the past 2 weeks, and when vincenzo breaks into his house, it looks like it hasn't been lived in for quite a while
The trail seems to lead nowhere, and they turn their attention back to tearing down babel, with the new knowledge sitting uncomfortably in the backs of their minds
And then han seo shows up at the jipuragi office in all his coffee wielding glory to plead his cooler older brother's case again
This time, to han seo's surprise, they listen to him patiently when he tells them about his older brothers. He makes sure to stress that the only one he wants to betray is han seok, and that jun woo has done nothing wrong
If the fact that they've read the part of the guillotine file that talked about what han seo had had to suffer under han seok makes it easier for them to believe him, he doesn't have to know that
The only way they can strike at han seok and simultaneously clear jun woo of suspicion is to reveal that they're twins
To do that they have to find jun woo. Han seo doesn't know where exactly he is, but he tells them that han seok would probably try and use jun woo as a shield should he ever be sent to jail
The guillotine file gives them what they need to force the prosecution to put han seok behind bars under fabricated charges. It wouldn't last long once actual investigation starts, but hopefully it will be enough
Han seok takes the bait, unknowingly, and shuttles jun woo off in his place. There's not much that irritates him as much as the thought of going to jail, and this is the perfect chance to test jun woo's loyalty. It also gives him a blind spot to operate, while his enemies think he's in jail. You can't dodge a hidden dagger and all that.
When the jipuragi squad watches the arrest of the babel chairman on the news, there's a nervous hunch to 'han seok's' shoulders, and the impassive smile he seems to be going for isn't quite right
Vincenzo and cha young go to visit him in jail
When they first see him, cha young immediately feels bad, despite herself. He looks like he hasn't slept well in ages, and his expression is far from his usual cheer, sober and sullen. This had better really be jun woo, she does not want to ever feel pity for jang han seok
It is jun woo, and he really hasn't slept well in ages, as reuniting with han seok and his violent tendencies has reawakened the memories from his childhood in the jang household that he had supressed, causing all kinds of nightmares
He doesn't look up as they enter and sit opposite him. Cha Young takes charge, and vincenzo lingers behind her, a solid and present support
When she speaks his head snaps up at the sound of her voice, before he seems to want to correct himself and looks away
When he looks at her again there are no traces of jun woo in his face, his expression haughty and unbothered
It's chillingly like the han seok they had sat across following the pig's blood incident, and cha young has to work hard to push down the flare of anger the expression causes
She decides not to beat around the bush. She presses the printed page of the jang han sol section of the guillotine file up against the glass, and watches as jun woo's eyes widen, the facade falling as quickly as he had donned it
Jun woo takes in the picture of the two identical little boys and has to squeeze his eyes shut at the wave of fear that hits him
In its wake is a small flare of hope. If they know he isn't han seok, maybe they can help him
Cha young watches as jun woo seems to deflate at the sight of the document, and now she's sure it isn't han seok, because she's never seen him allow himself to show any form of weakness
When jun woo looks up again, there is determination mixed in with the weariness in his eyes
A while later, cha young exhales shakily as they walk out, vincenzo's hand steady and comforting on her back. She's surprised at how relieved she is to know that the jun woo she had known had not been an elaborate set up, a con which had seen her at some of her lowest moments. Her heart goes out to jun woo, but there's an undeniable joy at the confirmation that her friend still exists, because it means he can be saved
The plan is simply to collect evidence of the fact that jun woo is not han seok. Best case scenario a video of them together, though a good photo will do as well. It would also work if they can somehow get footage of han seok out and about while jun woo is in jail
The first obvious course of action is to look for cctv footage. They hunt high and low through the cameras at babel, at wusang, and around han seok and jun woo's houses, but the searches are largely fruitless
With han seo's help, they locate the safehouses han seok likes to hide out in, and vincenzo sends men to snoop around each property. This ultimately pays off when, at the 3rd property, han seok is spotted standing by a window.
The second stage begins with Mr ahn's help, and they get a swat team to raid the house han seok is hiding out in.
Fully believing that everyone thinks you're in jail makes you sloppy, and han seok doesn't see it coming until the black vehicles are speeding down his driveway
He doesn't stop to take anything much, he grabs a hockey stick and he runs, wild and angry, out into the dark of the woods surrounding the house
Vincenzo watches him charge into the forest on the cctv footage retrieved from the house and smirks
The footage hits the news the next day. The headline is in large, bold letters, "Chairman Jang Han Seok spotted at holiday residence, despite prison sentence." The picture below the tagline serves as the final blow, side by side images of Han Seok sprinting away from the house, and an identical man sitting demurely in a jail cell.
As the story breaks, people begin to step forward, old employees of the jang household who had known and seen both han seok and han sol. There's nothing like good gossip to get people talking, and the shocking secret of the jang twins makes the rounds in record time
Jun woo's identity is rechecked, and he is set free
Cha young, vincenzo and han seo go to meet him when he gets out. Han seo tackles him in a hug, and cha young smacks him heartily on the back. Vincenzo doesn't react much but he does shoot jun woo a smile.
Han seok hasn't been seen in days, and jun woo is unbelievably happy to be himself again
It isn't over yet though, babel still needs to pay and han seok still needs to be found. Search parties comb through the woods around the house regularly, but there's still no sign of him. In the meantime, jipuragi prepares their final attack.
Han seo lets jun woo stay with him, and the house is fortified by multiple levels of guards
It's still mildly unsettling for han seo to have someone with han seok's face in his house, in his own safe space, but jun woo makes for a far better housemate than han seok ever was, and gradually he relaxes
For a few days, despite the tension of not knowing where your psychopath brother who probably really wants to kill you could be lurking, when there is a spare moment in the evening, han seo and jun woo catch up on years of lost brotherhood
Han seo tells him about his mother, and jun woo talks about his adopted family. Neither of them mention han seok, they skirt around his name like he doesn’t exist, like speaking their trauma aloud to someone who had been there too would make it too real to bear. Jun woo knows he had gotten the better end of the deal, he had been separated from han seok pretty early. Han seo had lost too many years of his life to their psychopath brother, and jun woo isn't sure he knows how to confront that, or how to comfort him. He hopes he can learn
Han seo wants to ask what exactly had happened to lead to jun woo being removed from the jang household and separated from han seok, but he doesnt dare. Maybe later, maybe when they aren't still worried about what han seok could do to them
Then the jipuragi squad files their lawsuit against babel. Han seok still hasn't been heard from, and they begin to wonder if he got lost in the woods. Maybe he fell of a cliff, or into a river
Either way, the trial goes spectacularly badly for babel, aided by the fact that vincenzo had threatened the unjust judge before the trial. The verdict is guilty, and it serves as a means to kick-start further investigation into previously dismissed babel trials
The day after the trial, han seok reappears
He was lost in the woods for a while, but he found his way out and laid low for a while plotting a way to get back at vincenzo and cha young for destroying his backup plans and destroying his family and company's reputation. He will also have to deal with his traitorous brothers.
It's a big blow, but it's not one he cannot recover from. All he has to do is get his revenge, terrify his brothers back into submission, and go back to his plans for his babel.
So he requests the kidnapping of cha young, and he gets his men to attack the guards at han seo's house and take her there, cornering his brothers. He strolls in when he gets word that everything is done, cocky and confident, twirling a gun between his fingers
He takes in the open fear on han seo's face, the frightened anger on jun woo's face, and the sneer on cha young's face, and he laughs. They are consistent to the very end, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
All that’s left is vincenzo, and a short while after a brief and taunt filled phone call he arrives, eyes wide and angry. Han seok does not waste time in pointing his gun at the mafia man. He stops where he is, still glaring at han seok, eyes darting regularly to cha young
Because he is never one to turn down some fun, in a bid to further anger vincenzo, han seok crouches down and points the gun to cha young's head. He watches at vincenzo's face twists with anger and worry, and he revels in it. Out of the corner of his eye he sees jun woo has moved in front of han seo, like he's protecting him, and han seok wants to laugh
He speaks to cha young in jun woo's voice to spite them both, mockingly sounding out his words in his twin's bright tone
But suddenly vincenzo drops to his knees to plead for cha young's life, and han seok grins in satisfaction. The satisfaction is shortlived, however, as something solid suddenly crashes into the back of his head
It dazes him enough that he lets go of cha young for a moment, and she takes the chance to headbutt him so hard that he drops the gun. Vincenzo pounces almost immediately, and aims a kick to han seok's head, knocking him out
The last thing he sees before everything fades to black is his spitting image standing a distance away, holding a dented art deco lamp.
When they are sure han seok has been knocked out for real, the relief that sweeps the room is palpable. Han seo slumps down and jun woo moves to check on him as vincenzo unties cha young
Jun woo moves to call the police, but vincenzo tells him not to.
Instead, he makes a call of his own, and soon two men enter and carry out the still unconscious han seok. Jun woo wants to ask where they’re taking him, but there’s a dark glint in vincenzo’s eyes that makes him swallow the question.
None of them see han seok again until he’s on the news. His body is found in a river near the family property he had first run away from, and the consensus seems to be that he fell in and drowned while lost in the woods
The whole matter has vincenzo written all over it, but no one is going to ask about it
Han seo and jun woo hold a funeral for him because it would be suspicious if they didn’t, but they work hard to make it as underwhelming as possible. When han seo cant stop shaking (whether it’s in weariness, relief, or anger at any traces of grief, jun woo can’t tell, and honestly neither can han seo) as they stand in front of the portrait of their deceased brother, jun woo silently rests a hand on his back.
After that is over with, they take a break to have a small ‘han seok is gone’ party, and then they both throw themselves into work
Han seo takes charge of babel, firing all of han seok’s people and working hard at cleaning up the stain of corruption he’d left behind. He works hard to transform the company’s reputation, and begins the process of compensating all the people who had been wronged by them in some shape or form
Jun woo leaves wusang and starts his own law firm. Han seo makes the company his first customer, and jun woo tries hard to run his firm without any traces of what made lawyers at wusang such monsters
Cha young and him have a friendly law firm rivalry going, much to vincenzo’s amusement
When they aren’t working, jun woo and han seo hang out a lot. Jun woo is determined to replace han seo’s memories of a terrible older brother with better ones with a more pleasant older brother. Han seo still struggles sometimes with seeing han seok in jun woo, but he’s more than happy to overwrite han seok’s image in his mind with jun woo’s
A few months after everything is stable again, they do take that trip to disneyland. The picture they take outside the park is framed on both their desks.
The next year, vincenzo and cha young get married, and han seo and jun woo attend the wedding. They bring expensive gifts, and jun woo cries like it’s his own family getting married. Cha young rolls her eyes at him, but she’s pleased to have him there
It will take a while to move on fully from the damage han seok caused, but they are all working hard at it. Because now han seok is gone for good, and everything is fine.
bonus
The Incident that led to han sol becoming jun woo happened when he and han seok were 6 and han seok, having decided that they had to see who was the superior twin, challenged him to a fight to the death
It was traumatic to the point that jun woo repressed all the memories of his childhood with han seok
Han seo once called jun woo hyung when speaking to han seok, and han seok got really angry and threw a lamp at him
Before vincenzo finishes off han seok, cha young slaps him six times to make up for the two slaps she mistakenly gave jun woo
After everything blows over, jun woo takes han seo with him the next time he goes to visit his adopted family. They dote on him like he's their family too, and han seo feels more loved than he has since he lost his mother. He says so to jun woo, and from then on he takes him along whenever he visits them
Cha young, jun woo and han seo meet up sometimes to eat spicy food, both because they like it but also to spite han seok’s memory just that little bit more
Because han seok died before he could find out about vincenzo’s mother, she’s alive and well and vincenzo visits her regularly

card technology and how LDS basically owns the market on not only real solid vision systems but also cards
this is gonna be a wordy post and i apologize in advance. ok first off i just wanna say i am probably the only person who thinks about this shit but i find world stuff and the like interesting to think about. call me obsessed, idc, ive watched arc v 5 times and i just really wanna share this.
it is canon that standard did not start with the other summoning methods, that they are relatively new. we arent ever told what cards are made out of specifically- but considering past shows and their connection to spirits we can assume they arent just simply cards. EX- gx and the crystal beast cards being made from actual gems.
for arc v, id say its the ‘energy signature’ of a card. reiji is shown to have technology that is able to read energy and also tell what kind of energy it is. He also uses a machine to copy pendulum monster cards and they are similar to the originals but not exactly the same. so either the ‘energy’ is the monster spirit itself, or its the magic nonsense that allows it to summon said spirit. either way- a card is not simple to make in the universe.
so that begs the question- how did LDS manage to get the other summoning methods?
well its shown that LDS actually has dimension hopping technology, though it seems rough and unfinished, i have no doubt reiji tried to use it again after his initial teleport to academia. whether he went there physically or not idk, but i theorize he was able to capture or hone in on the cards of those dimensions and copy them the same way he copied yuyas pendulum monsters.
except the LDS fusion/xyz/synchro cards are all weaker than the originals because he probably had limited data.
for fusion its easy to back this up since, anyone from standard who uses fusion doesnt actually use a regular ‘polymerization’ card- because reiji wasnt able to copy it one for one... (your probably thinking- what about kachidoki? well ill get back to that)
Even other characters like yuya, yuzu, and reiji himself are shown to not actually be able to use ‘polymerization’ more than once. standard users who have fusion monsters rely on other methods such as deck themed fusion cards, monster effects, or in the case of reiji: contract cards
this extends to the other methods too but in more subtle ways. hokuto is only able to xyz summon after changing his monsters levels, yaiba can only synchro summon using effects that treat monsters like tuners (both him and gon only have one tuner in their decks at the start) you could also argue that the fact they are missing ‘rank up’ cards or any support magic cards for synchro monsters as another way in which standard made xyz/synchro are weaker.
so- where the fuck am i going with this? well LDS is shown to be the only thing with access to these other cards. its not clear, but it looks like using the method can take a toll on the users body and i do not know if thats a matter of energy needed to summon a monster and having to train ones body or what but-
these cards are not easy to make, and there are limited copies in stock.
other summoning method cards are expensive to buy in standard. why am i saying this? well one- yu show duel school is shown to not have access to any, shuzo himself says hes never used the cards, and its possible that its because he cant afford it. none of the other schools in the tournament use other summoning methods. that is except...
kachidoki and his school.
not only that, but they also have a regular ‘polymerization’ card. your probably thinking this is where all this falls apart. but think about it- ryozanpaku is shown to be probably the second most popular and highest grossing duel school. its not a stretch to think they PAID LDS a hefty sum of money for their own stock of cards. and what did LDS give them? their first copies of the ‘polymerization’ cards. they are weaker but relatively work the same- but most of the students still rely on it AND monster effects.
but if thats the case- if these cards cost so much and only LDS has access to them... not only do they now own that market, theyve basically created a huge gap and money cap for players of the game in standard. people arent gonna wanna go to a duel school that does not have the means to teach them these other methods of play. standard summoning becomes a laughing stock- no one can win with just standard summoning! duel schools start going out of business because they simply lack students. LDS and only a FEW other schools remain and all of them focus on those methods- not standard summoning...
LDS has complete and total control of the market.
of course arc v doesnt show us if anywhere else in the standard dimension has this tech but if we’ve seen anything from reira- its quite likely japan is the most advanced in this field, as weapons and cards seem to go hand in hand because of their innate power to destroy... ANYWAYS
what does this mean for the game in standard? well if things kept going how they were its quite possible the level of entry into the game becomes so high that you have to be born with privilege to even have a chance at grabbing a spot and not being immediately kicked out.
but something more interesting- and the real like theory part i guess is... when something becomes too expensive to get- ppl start making knock offs. people start making fake cards, some of them work on the duel disk- others do not, but the older the card the easier to copy and cheat the duel disk code. suddenly theres a bunch of copies of strong ishijimas cards, or even yusho’s cards. (thats how the bully managed to make an exact replica of strong ishijimas deck)
theres just a group of people now who just dont even use duel disk and just play on mats- denounce the new summoning method and actively hate what the game has become- but its still seen as lesser... and still other methods cannot be copied.
theres no real end to this theory beyond the fact that this shit is kinda messed up and mirrors shit in our world to an eerie point but like... uh i hope you enjoyed this? i like thinking of the game duel monsters in the world of arc v instead of the normal ass card game that it is irl so-- uh yeah pls tell me what you think about this and add on to it if you have something to share! sorry for the long post--

“What is with the Blake / Yang hate this week? Folks seem particularly fired up.” I asked this question on a forum because of something I’ve noticed the last few days on discussions about Blake and Yang/Bumbleby/shipping in general. I keep seeing the same answers.  “It ruins the team’s dynamic.”
Welp, I’m pretty certain none of those people would say that Raven/Tai and Tai/Summer ruined the team’s dynamic. Or that Ren and Nora are currently  ruining the team’s dynamic.  What is this holy than thou crusading to protect the sanctity of the team dynamic? Rwby has always been first and foremost about interpersonal relationships. It’s what drives the actual plot. Character growth, failing relationships/friendships. How they change over time, either to grow or crumble.
“It’s being shoehorned in, for fanwank.” How? How is it being shoehorned in? Give me a narrative breakdown as to where/how/when this occurs? Compare it to the Sun/Blake narrative and show me the glaring differences between the Yang/Blake narrative to prove that bumbleby was never planned yet blacksun was?  (Sidenote. Anyone that has been asked to do this on the forum has yet to do it.)
“Yang showed interest in boys.”“ Yes, yes she passed comment once. In vol 1 episode 1. 8 VOLUMES AGO. She has shown not a lick of interest in guys since. Its almost as if she’s like any normal 17 year old girl who is growing into adulthood and figuring herself out, who might be realising her interest in Blake isn’t strictly platonic and is trying to navigate that whilst also grappling with what that means with regards to their friendship. And dealing with an over arching situation that is, ya know, potentially the end of the world as they know it.  It’s about two years in universe, right? Which is about right of an amount of time for what its happening between them to play out. It only feels like longer to the audience because, well, its taken 8/9 years to tell the story up until that point.
“The Fans are too loud/vocal/come on too strong.” Ok, this one I agree with, we are loud and vocal and that might come across as coming on strong  (here’s a huge) BUT, there is actually a genuine explanation for why it seems that way.   If you really think about it, objectively.
Hear me out.  Fans are excited about the potential representation we don't otherwise usually get in media. I mean, if you have 10,000 pieces of media and only ONE of them represents lgbtq people, of course we’re gonna be excited and talk about the ONE quite a bit with others who are like us. This might also be the first time we’ve seen anything like this, or seen ourselves represented in a somewhat positive light. It stands to reason that the other 9999 pieces aren't going to hold our attention as much, esp if its the same hetero romance played out a bajillion times before, right? I mean, if you have a group of people who are constantly represented in the 9999 other shows, their voices are going to spread thinner, right? They aren’t going to be gathered all on one place, talking about the same thing because there are 9999 other choices to connect them to other people. They aren’t going to care as much if their straight ship happens/doesnt happen
“Hey, I can move onto another piece of media that is churned out by the status quo. No big deal.”
Hetero romances are ten a penny. Flick through netflix, hulu, crunchy roll etc.  Where as if you have a group of people who are only represented in ONE show out of the 10,000 those people are going to gather in one place to connect with others and its only going to seem like they are louder due to the densely packed space.  These same people have been majority silent about the other 9999 pieces of media as their voice isn't usually represented in a positive light - being queer characters are usually brutally murdered or sidelined. (Thankyou Hays Code.)- or not even represented at all. (Bury Your Gays is a trope for a reason, folks.) And we are NEVER the titular characters. We’ve been living on crumbs and subtext for decades! Not to mention showrunners who actively queerbait the hell out of us for ratings and viewership. The almighty Pink Pound as its often referred to in business. “But why do they have to make them gay?” You’re not made gay, you’re born gay. It just takes longer for some people to realise than others. It can be a gradual realisation. And this is quite possibly the case with Yang/Blake, slowly coming to realise their own burgeoning sexualities and attraction to each other.
”Why do they have to be gay?” They don't need a reason to be queer! They just are! Queerness is only a part of a person, not their everything. It’s actually quite refreshing to see Yang/Blake being portrayed as much more than their potential sexuality.  Ask yourself, ‘Why does a character have to be straight? And why doesn’t a straight character have to constantly reaffirm their sexuality? Why is ‘straightness’ assumed by default?’ Heteronormativity, is something that has been perpetuated by decades of media. (helped by the Hays Code with its out of date moral code. To be other is to be punished within the narrative.) That straight is the default setting. It’s not! We exist! Everywhere! We always have and we are going to talk to each other about it when we see a glimpse of ourselves represented in what has been a relative Sahara Desert when it comes to queer content were we are not villainised.   “The romance is detracting from the plot.” Two seconds ago, people were claiming that the romance was none existent. Which is it? But Nora and Ren’s romance that is being held up as a mirror to bumbleby is fine? That Jaune relentlessly pursuing Weiss was perfectly ok. Neptune openly hitting on female characters is fine.
“I don’t have a problem with LGBT. I just don’t want it forced down my throat.” Again, out of 10,000 pieces of media, this is just ONE show. Nobody is forcing anyone to watch it or participate.  Queer people have had to stomach literal 100′s of years of straight media forced upon them. Since the very conception of the written word and narrative storytelling. In plays, theatre, art, music, tv, film, on billboards, advertising, in places of education and learning etc etc. Queer people are bombarded with it whilst also being surrounded by negativity towards queerness.
“They are shoving it down my throat!” part two Is hand holding, compassion and expressing concern for another person and comforting them somehow offensive? Renora kissed, not a problem. Arkos kissed, not a problem. Show me in the sand where the line is drawn. What is the difference? Please explain this to me? Why is the expression of queerness somehow offensive? Is this because decades of media have perpetuated the false idea that all queer people are sex crazed perverts? That you’ve been groomed into thinking that queer sexuality is only based in the act of sex itself? That queer sexuality couldn’t possibly be similar to heterosexuality in its expression?
That it couldn’t possibly be about attraction, emotional, mental and maybe one day blossom into physical between two consenting adults, a pure expression of love the exact same as heterosexuality.
That some how queer love stems from some sort of deviancy or mental health issue. That queer people are some how bad or evil, and therefore their expression of affection is wrong? Oh, I wonder where those beliefs have possibly stemmed from?  “Why are they in my face?” part three.  50% of of the titular cast are potentially queer. Blake and Yang. But if you look at the overall cast ensemble that runs at minimum 16 any given volume, that’s a measly 12.5% (prolly a lot smaller if you actually counted the whole cast that appears in rotation each volume) Also, someone did the math. Blake - a titular character- actually has less spoken lines that Jaune. ffs. B&Y spent neatly a whole two volumes of 8 apart. 25% of the narrative as it stands on entirely different continents.
I fail to see how it being in someone’s face could be the case.
  “I just don't see it!”
That’s ok and perfectly valid But listen when people who have lived this experience are telling you that their experience is being portrayed on the screen. That they see themselves being represented.  OK, This completely got away from me. In conclusion. They are more straight people than queer people and media often reflects that.   We are usually the silent minority, we are sick of it but we are used to it and we are very excited that things seem to be finally changing.
It’s two characters in an large cast in ONE show out of 10,000. Its a piece of media that, for a change, hasn’t been 100% curated for straight people.  We are often not allowed to play in the sand box and if we are, we’re told to play with the broken toys, be grateful and quiet. So when we are given a sandbox to play in with new unbroken toys, we are gonna dog pile in there and make a ruckas, calling our friends over. What I’m trying to say is, it’s gonna get rowdy.  and here’s something to think about.  “When you are used to privilege, equality feels like deprivation.”

Cartoons and shows we should bring back into 2021 because they reflect, explain and criticize the generation we're living today.
1. Daria.
Daria is a show about a 17 year girl who sees the world differently from others, cynical, cold, and isnt afraid to speak her mind. After she moved to Lawndale, she enters a series of events that still happen to this day, and criticizes them without shame. One of them would be her younger sister Quinn, she and her are very different and you cant even tell they're sisters, but the keypoint is that Quinn is very shallow and superficial, she and her Fashion Club friends care about nothing more then looks and appearances and that's not an exaggeration, she even uses people who find her pretty to do her bidding, Quinn represents young girls who are influenced by society's norms of female appearance and how it impacts their entire life. Almost every character in Daria has their way of representing something that's relatable in teenagers today and speak a powerful message, from racism, dating issues, to even family issues, Daria is a show that many kids entering teenhood today should watch.
2. Veggietales
Veggietales is a cartoon about talking vegetables who teach about God, doing short stories based on actual biblical events with a colorful and childish twist that's fun for anyone to watch, why this show you ask? Simple, nowaways religion is the biggest argument any cishet can use when something displeases them, causing homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic and even racist disputes to occur. I find Veggietales important because it's mainly for KIDS. Children dont grow up hateful, they arent born racist, homophobic or anything, they LEARN it from the their PARENTS, full fledged ADULTS who can easily convince them what they think is wrong, and they grow up with that same mentality, using once again religion as an argument. Veggietales teaches with their biblical stories many many things, such as dont be greedy, be grateful of what you have, being different isnt bad, being small doesnt limit you to do big things, kindness surpasses power, and my personal favorite: Stand up for what you believe in. I find Veggietales a wonderful cartoon to teach children about Christianity, but PROPER Christianity
3. Static Shock.
I feel like this cartoon is self-explainatory, and very necessary. Static Shock is about a black teenager who has eletrical powers and is basicly a superhero. Although I myself sadly didnt grow up with this show, it doesnt lower it's value as the educacional cartoon it is. Not just it's teachings about racism, but I feel that it gives the viewer a POV watch of a black teenager's life in america and how immensely different and more difficult it is compared to your average white teenager. While this show is arguely more relatable for black children and teens, I feel white kids and teens should especially seen this, to get a glimpse at their life and the challenges they face since birth.
4. Steven Universe
while this show is recently and only ended a while back, it stills doesnt unvalue the message it gives for those in the LGBT community. Steven Universe has it all, it teaches about labels, gender, sexuality and family problems, all you need is a little attention. It's very open about the importance of communication, trust, and doing what you feel is right in your heart, and once again it is very LGBTcoded and one of the best queer representations we have today in media. This and many more exemples makes Steven Universe a wonderful show about self-acceptance and how you should never be afraid in doing what you believe is right, and being true to yourself
5. My Life As A Teenage Robot.
While I love this show from the bottom of my heart, I sadly dont recall much of it. But this shows features a robot girl named Jenny, but that wasnt always her name, it was a name she picked for herself and how she refers herself as. This show is highly positivly trans-coded, it tells the story about a robot girl who was only seen as a revolucionary crime fighting machine, and that's it. She chose to be more then that and faces the challenges and dangers on being a female teenager, especially with a mother who doesnt even refers her as the name she picked, but the name she was given, her "deadname". Again while I cant tell much of this show because I dont remember much, it still teaches a valuable lesson on being yourself and not giving up on yourself
6. Codename: Kids Next Door
This show has a message? it sure does. KND is a show about five kids who are part of a secret agency club, who face evil adults. This show is very important for children because it teaches things such as: Adults arent always right, adults can be mean, adults that you trust CAN harm you, family ISNT defined by blood and that children CAN stand up for themselves if needed. Almost every villian in KND is a grown-up and some represent harmful types of people, such as Count Spankcula, the embodiment of people who physically beat their children, Madame Margeret who is a radical feminist, Mega Mom and Destructo Dad who represent parents with ridiculously high expectations for their children, damaging them mentally and emocionally, even Numbah 5's sister Cree, was a villian, defining my point that even family can hurt you. KND teaches that adults can be harmful, and that good friends will be stronger then any family bond
7. Higglytown Heroes
whew, this one is an oldie, but what does this one teach? Well most kids are taught very young that they should be doctors, lawyers or engineers, or they will fail at life, alot of parents unmotivates or even disgraces a child for having a passionate hobby because they say "it wont be good for your future" or "it's a worthless job". Higglytown Heroes is a show with russian doll-like characters, where five kids enter in a peril and are need of a Hero. The Heroes are people from every different kind of job imaginable, from doctors, to translators, to janitors to even pizza delivery guys, this show represents that every job has a value just as big as the others. My personal favorite is the episode where the Hero was a blind Art teacher's service dog, which helped her get to one of the character's houses safe and sound. While this show is old as heck, it teaches kids that every job is important and valuable, and that their passion could make them a hero.
8. Braceface.
This is a show I have never seen before, but I know has heavy messages for teenagers. Braceface is about a teenage girl named Sharon who has braces, and deals with her everyday teenager life in school, social gatherings and even at home. While I dont know about this show, I can tell it teaches teenagers about physical appearances, due to the main character has braces, and pressure among friends, because the one thing I DO know about this show is that Sharon was pressured by her friends to start smoking, and that itself can teach alot. While once again, I dont know much about this show, it can still teach a valuable lesson about teenager appearances, who are your real friends and to be true to yourself
Thank you for coming to my tedtalk.

Tumblr media
Day one. 72 hours until the world ends.
The world is going to shit. I know it is because I can hear the panicked buzz of mothers holding their children close and reassuring them as the news practically burned "we're all going to die" into our heads.
My fingers twitched as they held the dark blue fabric of my jeans. I'm terrified ㅡ as is the rest of the people watching the news ㅡ and it most definitely doesnt help when they plaster a large timer onto the screen counting down our days and hours left on our beloved blue planet.
"We never thought this day would come.. Ladies and gentlemen, we've reached the end of the chapter." The words echoed into the back of my mind. 'The end of the chapter'? I havent even really lived my life? I'm only seventeen.. I barely made it to graduation. I suck in a deep breath, filling my lungs fully before releasing the built up pressure.
Theres a burning sensation on my waterline, tears threatening to roll down my cheeks. My hands begin to shake when I think back to all the sleepless nights I spent not enjoying life. I took life for granted ㅡ and now it's going to end in three days. In seventy-two hours, it's all going to go away. That's not enough time to say all the things I didnt have a chance to say.
Wasted opportunities.
Wasted chances that I now no longer have control over.
My legs suddenly feel like spaghetti and walking seems like a foriegn topic to me. I just need to sit down, take a breather.
Who am I kidding. The storm inside me is raging on tonight and my hands have a handful of messy locks.
I catch glimpse of inked red calligraphy spelling out the name 'Eren' that is marked onto the inside of my forearm in small writing just an inch below my wrist. My heart swells with sadness.
The sense of realization settles in, practically telling me to 'let this sink in for a little'. I'm not ever going to get the chance to meet my soulmate. I'll never get the satisfaction of weaving their fingers with mine, to lay on the couch on cold winter nights with blankets drooped over our shoulders. Never get the chance to tell them I love them over and over again, to brush their hair behind their ears, grab them by the smooth skin of theirs and feel the fireworks of pressing my lips against their own.
I wont feel the sweet electricity course through me like people explained would happen when they touched their soulmate for the first time. I've spent seventeen years searching for this perfect person in the happiness of this little town. The universe promised a perfect person, they never promised me to meet them though.
The younger generations were lucky, for they werent born with marks. They werent tied to someone, so they dont have anything to lose other than the fact that they're too young to leave this world.
A crowd begins to pull outside, staring at the sky with both a mix of admiration and fear. The blue sky has begun to turn itself into a peach color. My town's happy vibe has now turned uneasy, scared, unsure.
That day, I walk home slowly when the sky begins to darken, taking the scenery of the autumn leaves disarray upon the concrete sidewalk. If the world is ending in three days, I'm going to make the most of it. Soak it up like a sponge. Do what I should've been doing these past seventeen years and love life for once ㅡ despite all the wrong. Despite the fact that I'll never graduate, and never meet my soulmate. I force myself to disregard the nagging thoughts that tug at my conscious.
I dont think about the fact that I'll never get a chance to buy my first apartment.
I dont think about how I wont be able to wake up every morning to make my significant other breakfast.
And I most certainly dont think about how I'll never be able to take my lovers hand at the alter and say with great pride, "I do."
Day 2. 48 hours until the world ends.
Today, I woke up early. Early enough that the sun still hasn't peaked over the clouds. They say that if you wake up early enough the day takes longer to end.
The aching pain in my chest never seems to cease. I laugh a little bitterly at the calander on the wall, I feel like its mocking me now. A part of me wants to rip the thing to shreds and scream until my throat is raw ㅡ but I said I'd make the best of these last days. So, I push these bitter thoughts from my mind and start up a warm shower.
Seventeen years of not wanting to be alive, and now I only have two days to live until the entire world completely goes to shit. Ironic, isn’t it? Why now am I so angry? The water is warm trickling down my bare body, as my shower thoughts continue treading forward to how I could make life better in less than forty-eight hours.
I walk down a different road today, deciding that routine wasnt necessary when the world is going to end in forty-eight hours. The countdown continues on nearby TVs, the bright white luminous against the dark morning sky.
It makes me feel anxious.
Destruction clouds my mind, but I bite my lip and hold my ground. This situation will not drive me crazy.
The town is a lot quieter than I expected, then again it's only 6 in the morning.
The day carries on just as any other day, the air seems heavier though. It's the night time that brings chaos.
You see, I've been walking around town all day blowing that last little bits of money I have on little things that have no purpose. The sky is the same sunset peach as it was yesterday, only barely hinting at a blue color.
There's a faint noise a few blocks from where I am standing, and at first I chose the ignore it. The yelling got louder and louder until I felt my feet pull like magnets to what was going on.
Chocolate hair, smooth tan skin shining under the soft orange of the sky, handfuls of someones shirt as this mystery man pinned some junky against the rough brick wall. His eyes held a killer glow, practically fuming from the ears. I was going to mind my own business, but then I saw the other strike at the brunette ㅡ and I dont know why, but I stepped in.
A surprise attack, a blow right to the face, maybe a minor bruise on my cheek from when the other decided to attack back ㅡ but soon he left. I turn my gaze back to the brunette who still sits on the floor, palms pressed into the concrete.
"I didnt need your help," he hissed, dusting his hands against the black fabric of his jeans.
"Oh you're welcome for saving your ass, wasnt a problem at all." My hand lifts to my face, pressing onto the bruise and wincing before squatting next to this stranger. "Is it bad? Let me see," The moment my hand makes contact with the others chin I feel the rush of electricity course through me.
Overwhelming is an understatement. Sweet emotions flooded through my mind but I can feel the pounding of fear in my veins, and bittersweet it was. When I retract my hand, I see that he's mirrored the exact expression I have; eyes blown wide, fear in the darks of his pupils.
"Eren..?" trying to keep my voice from cracking seems hard, and it comes out more like a whisper. This situation leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. Where the hell has he been for seventeen years? Why is he just now showing up?
Eren immediately sprung to his feet, taking a few steps back with no words to say. I snatched at his left arm, pushing the sweaters sleeve up and over his forearm to see my name inked in blue against his paper skin. "So.. you're my soulmate?" I promise I didnt mean to make it sound disappointed ㅡ but in a way, I guess you could say I was.
So many questions raced through my mind; but the biggest question of all was why? Why now of all times we could've met? Why must I be gifted with the worst luck.
Eren isnt a bad person though, and in the few hours we've spent together I can tell you this; His favorite color is red, he lives with his mother and a girl that his family took in when they were very little - who he loves dearly, he can play guitar very well, he looks absolutely adorable with his hair tied up, and that's only the stuff he's told me within the first hour.
Words cannot express how much I wished we could have more time together, but the bright TV clocks continue to remind me that our time is running out.
"There's nothing more I'd rather do than to spend my last moments with you," Eren whispered, golden flecks in his beautiful ocean eyes. His hand was held in mine as the pained expression washed over his face. Somewhere in the conversation led us to this point of heartbreak. We both explained how we wanted nothing more than to meet earlier in life, but apparently the universe had a different plan.
The idea of parting with Eren now just seemed like a waste, and I'd much rather take my dying last breath next to the one I looked for my entire life. Falling in love is easy when you've got nothing to live for.
The walk back to my house is silent, but it's a comfortable silence, and we never seem to let go of each others hands. The house is quiet and dark when we enter.
The rest of the remaining night we have is spent cuddled under the thick blanket of mine, Eren held me close to his chest as we whisper sweet things that wont mean much in a few hours. Chaste kisses are showered over the male as I remind him of how I never stopped searching for him.
He studied my face, moving a strand of hair behind my ear before placing his palm onto my cheek and rubbing his thumb across the smoothness underneath my eye. I could feel my breath begin to shallow and my heart skip a beat. I loved the way his eyes sparkled under my dim-lit room, the way I could feel his heartbeat pulsing from how close we lay where, how steady his breathing was, and how gentle he caressed me.
Its bittersweet, and I never believed in the after life, but with him - maybe, just maybe, we will meet again in the next life.

i was wondering for an excuse to use this exact song to serenade to you, since its one of my favourites. not because of unwanted circunstances, but because it expresses love from someone else´s eyes when seeing someone love what they do, love the world. it shows me love like you do.
i´ll say its 8th since it matches the day you were born. but in the end its just an excuse, i jsut think i wanted to call it special, but after all i think about you everytime i listen to this song.
Ryan, of Sleeping at last mentioned in his blog when talking about this song, that it was inspired by the word "Beautiful", and therefore i thought in the many times you seemed taken out of breath when talking about things you love, when expressign love in a way that you would never run out of words, and i always thought too that you were indeed breathtakingly beautiful, maybe thats were it came from, the way you loved always took my breath away
Here is all of Saturn by Sleeping at last
"You taught me the courage of stars before you left How light carries on endlessly, even after death With shortness of breath You explained the infinite And how rare and beautiful it is to even exist
I couldn't help but ask for you to say it all again I tried to write it down, but I could never find a pen I'd give anything to hear you say it one more time That the universe was made just to be seen by my eyes
I couldn't help but ask for you to say it all again I tried to write it down, but I could never find a pen I'd give anything to hear you say it one more time That the universe was made just to be seen by my eyes
With shortness of breath I'll try to explain the infinite How rare and beautiful it is to even exist
With shortness of breath I'll try to explain the infinite And how rare and beautiful it truly is that we exist"
And probably one of the only songs that have made me stop what i was doing to truly stop crying from the sheer inmensity. it still does.
it doesnt matter tho
i am crying love

Imagine 11’s potential.
10 has just lost/said goodbye to everybody he had in his life: his entire family, his true love, his best friend, everyone. He’s just had to make the horrible choice to send his own people back to Hell along with the Master who he only wanted to help and save and be close with. All this causes 11 to be born out loneliness and despair. It’s not the same as 9 being born out of war and bloodshed, but 11 is clearly darker than 10 (who was born out of love).
As a result we see 11 struggle, but he doesn’t want to admit it to himself or anyone else. He isn’t pompous and rude and idolizing himself. Why would he be like that when everything he has done has resulted in failure in his eyes? Rather, he’s scared and untrusting. He isn’t demeaning and horrible to people, he’s just avoiding creating close attachements to protect himself and others. He isn’t carefree and shortsighted and ignorant. He obsesses over every decision he makes and just pretends like he’s always living on a whim so people don’t think he’s in pain (hence the childish persona he builds). He still cares, but it’s also so hard for him to decipher between what’s right and wrong now when it seems like doing the “right” thing only ever leaves himself and those he cares about in pain. He doesn’t know how to trust anything anymore. Even the closest person he has at this point (River) only pops in and out of his life and he still barely knows her, so how can he be trusting when he doesn’t have anyone/anything to count on.
He meets Amy Pond (who doesnt have a crush on him, who was never obsessed over him her entire life, who is quite lonely and untrusting herself after losing her own family, who loves Rory with all her heart but is so scared they will lose each other that she’s looking for a way to sabatoge their wedding-think Amy in Sondheim’s musical Company). But the Doctor struggles to let her in because how can he trust the universe to not hurt her therefore hurting him? He still invites her to join him though because all they both want is run away. They are lonely and hurt and understand each other’s pain. And thus the building blocks behind their faith in humanity may start to be restored.
Amy is able to transform into a more open person as she travels with the Doctor and so eventually Rory joins them and they all become more of a family unit. The Doctor is slower to change, though. He can’t trust that there’ll always be there because he knows something Has to happen to them (that’s just how it goes), but he loves them and loves being a part of their family as much as he doesn’t want to. He isn’t careless with their lives, but when he’s able he tries to leave them out to protect them. It isn’t that he doesn’t believe in their abilities and can’t trust them so much as he doesn’t believe in or trust himself/the world. They don’t let him push them out of the way though, and slowly, we start to see him trust more and more. He isn’t scared to have them on board as much as he was, and rather than just acknowledging their family-type relationship, he leans into it. He’s not alone.
Then that family is threatened from him and he stoops down to a low point in his life (close to 10s timelord victorious) where he’s willing to do anything he can to save them and prove that humanity is on his side. The audience doesn’t praise him for committing genocide or blowing up a spaceship to get a piece of information, but sees that he is dissenting into madness. He rescues the Ponds, but he’s never quite the same and they know that too. Still, they stay with him because he is part of their family and they know he needs their help. As audience members, we only pray he can pull himself out of this horrible place he’s found himself in.
Eventually, he loses Amy and Rory like he’s lost everyone else in his life. He chooses to continue alone (because he’s not just going to mope about for hundreds of years in a cloud cuz that’s not who the doctor is). But he’s alone for so long that he starts to lose whatever perspective he had left before losing the Ponds. He flat out refuses to work as a team with anyone anymore no matter who they are because somehow he needs to prove to himself that he’s worthy and he just can’t trust them. He keeps imagining (if not physically seeing) those he knew before- Rose, Jack, Mickey, Jackie, Sarah Jane, Martha, Donna, WILFRED, Amy, Rory, River. He can see their faces and see the pain in what he’s become in their eyes but he chooses to ignore it. Because maybe if he had taken his place of power seriously like this before, maybe he would still have them so who were they to judge. That dissent into madness is wreaking havoc on his life even more now. But he’ll be damned if more good/deserving people are lost because of his foolishness, even if it means killing off entire races and planets and galaxies in the process. None of this is ever used for laughs, or to show how “good and strong and god-like” the Doctor is, it’s taken just as seriously and scarily and gut wrenching as it’s meant to be.
Eventually he meets Clara (who isn’t just a mystery wrapped in an enigma in a tight skirt, who is a very loving and protective and smart person in her own right, who’s willing to go to hell and back if it means helping and saving the people she loves because she couldn’t help her own mom and feels guilty for it) and after seeing the pain in his eyes she flat out refuses to leave his side. He almost begrudgingly takes her along because she literally just won’t budge out of the TARDIS without being physically thrown out. But deep in his heart he knows he’s tired of being alone and does enjoy her presence.
Clara never gives up on the Doctor, but she damn well points out when he’s losing his mind and doing the wrong thing. She doesn’t let him stoop to his lowest points and she’s always there for him, always fighting right alongside him to do what’s right. Again, he starts to trust, he starts to see what he’s become. They go somewhere that reminds him of who he was as 9 (NOT GALLIFREY BECAUSE GALLIFREY IS GONE) and how he had to heal from that time and move foward and with his FRIEND Clara by his side supporting him he knows it’s possible again. He knows he can be the Doctor again.
In the end there’s a big battle standing between life and death, not only for him but for humanity. He’s taken all of these lessons away and when it matters he decides to choose life. He’s so tired of killing out of the “sake of goodness” so tired of lying to himself, and he decides to take a stand and do the right thing. If he can do just one right thing in his entire life as this man, that would be enough.
Everyone else survives, but he doesn’t make it. His last act as the man he is is life, and he’s more proud of it than anything else in maybe all his regenerations. But it wasn’t enough for him to survive. And maybe that’s okay with him because maybe it’s time to move on from being this inherently lonely and mad man and become someone better.
He regenerates and recognizes his new face, the face that proves he was right. The face that represents that even if he can’t stop the rest of the world from going into flames, if all he can do is save just one family, do one right thing, then he will be okay. That he can be the man he once was. That even through loss and pain, he is never alone.
He starts to pick up the pieces.

My 15x19 Opinion
Inherit The Earth
I’m not going to say this was a great episode overall, but it wasn’t bad, and the ending was beautiful! I almost wish it had been the series finale because I loved the Running on Empty montage and my boys smiling as they ride into the sunset, but Id ikely say the episode itself wasnt sufficiently satisfying as the final episode of the longest running genre show in history, but as a season finale, it was pretty good!
We begin with Dean meeting up with Sam and Jack, and Dean tells them about Cas. Im glad Dean didn’t shed anymore tears or dwell on it, but Im bothered by Sam not showing any emotion. Had Sam been upset, then it would have looked like he valued their friendship even if Cas obviously didn’t, but now it just kinda looks like neither cared much. I feel a little bad for the Sastiel shippers tbh
Now in true Sam Winchester fashion, Sam puts all the blame on himself that the whole world is gone because he “screwed up” and I felt really bad for him, but I know the Winchesters, and they’ll figure it out.
Dean finding the dog was adorable. I always get warm fuzzies when the boys get cute with animals! Big bad lethal hunters get all soft and smooshy for bunnies and doggies and watch funny kitten videos! I liked Dean telling the dog maybe Sam will let him sleep in his bed!
Back at the Bunker, the boys wake up the following morning. Sam and his coffee, sleepless Jack in his PJs and Dean hungover on the floor. Dean wakes up and gets a call, Now I want a show of hands for everyone who did like I did ok?
(Dean’s phone rings and he answers it}
Cas :Dean open the door Im hurt Me: Oh COME ON!! SERIOUSLY? (Dean answers the door) Lucifer: 😆 Me: YAAAY LUCIFER!!
That was me.. admit it, was it you too? I’ve never been happy to see Lucifer till then LOL
So we get the book, theres a new Death (she was funny btw) Michael comes,  Death 3.0 dies, stil no one can read the book, yada yada yada Mike kills Lucifer (seriously? 3 people have killed Lucifer and none of them were SAM!! Grrrrr)
So Sam and Dean meet up with Chuck, I got a kick out of him asking if they were “enjoyng some alone time?” Chuck doesnt just ship the Wincest, he wrote it *snicker*  Dean pleads to have everything put back to how it was, he says he’ll kill Sam or Sam kill him or they’ll kill each other, whatever but Chuck declines.
Now we move on to casting the “spell” out by the lake (obviously where they filmed Bravealecki lol) and Chuck comes to end them I have to say,, watching the boys getting pummled was hard, but it really did my soul some good to see them keep getting up get beat down, get back up, and then ultimately, hold each other up 💕💕💕 I loved their beaten faces, smiling through the blood, yeah Chuck, you lost!
Now, Im glad they didn’t kill Chuck, I didnt think anyone was going to kil him anyway, but I did think he’d be redeemed, instead, they surprize me again and Chuck lives but now is just human. Good call!
Jack being the “New God” is iffy to me if I like it. I’m gad he got a good end, Sam stood by him from day 1 that he was worth saving, and he was. But ruler of the Universe? Ehhhhh not a fan, but at least he does have Amara with him. His goodbye was a little cheesy but Sam looked sad “What if we want to see you?” I mean, he’s letting his only son just go away forever... that hurts.
So the boys are home now, not social distancing AT ALL hehe. and after we salute those lost along the way, Sam and Dean take in the fact that they’re finallly free to be Sam and Dean and they like that. Dean gives Sam the most awesome side hug ever, and Sam makes the cutest face!! Just kil me with brolove please!!
Now the perfect song for their recap montage, Runnin’ on Empty!!  Of course I cried, did you think I wouldn’t?
Overall it was good and I enjoyed watching it a 2nd time already. Im let down some by still not knowing why Sam was in the book, why theyve brought up Sam and Dean being Mike and Lucifer’s vessles every season since 11 and not put closure to it. I mean we dont need a grand puppet show, but something for closure, Mike and Luci asking again and almost winning and thge boys giving a final no? Chuck saying he doesnt even want them as the vessels anyhmore? How about why the Hell he wanted them in the first place? I mean it was a big deal just to get John and Mary together so that Sam and Dean would be born, and Id be fine with it ending when s5 ended, but they brought it back up in 11 and kept reminding us every season after so..... wtf?
Anyway I did like it, even with the issues so on a scale of Bloodlines to Lebanon I’ll give this one an 8.5.
Next week is it folks and I already miss them. I hope with all my soul the boys end up together, and I hope that TPTB were smart when they had JDM and Sam Smith together last season that they took some time to film a Heavenly Winchester Reunion and have been very tight lipped about it. It would be so easy and so awesome!! I doubt they were that smart so just keep my boys together thats all I ask!!
If the end sucks I wont even bother with a recap and wont likely be on Tumblr anymore at least for a while, so.. lets pray it doesnt suck!
