"look somebody said "so beautiful, I would leave my wife for her," everybody at the table laughed, including you. as you looked at all the comments on the Mercedes post with you in it.

"I don't think I've ever been this hit on in my entire life" you snorted at your own little comment, as everybody laughed again at your sad joke

"oh babe you haven't met me them" John, one of the youngest engineers said as he slid in the booth next to you, his arm going around your shoulder. "How you doing, I'm John" you gigged at his joke and jokingly shook his hand that he held out for you.

"well hello John" you said in the most flirtatious voice that you could ever pull on, and watched as his cheeks turned red.

"aww he's blushing" one of the other engineers David stated, making John go all shy and cover his face up with his hands.

"I hate y'all" you all laughed at poor John. you decided to make matters even worse and pinched his cheek "aww, but he's cute when he's blushing" and with that John jumped up from his seat and went to go sit back down beside David looking away from you embarrassed and cheeks growing even more red if that was possible.

"alright boys I need to head back to work" they all whined, but you ignored them and headed to the hallway making your way towards your motorhome that the team gave you, but stopping when you saw Lewis standing in the hallway learning against the wall with his phone in his hands.

"hey Lew, what are you here?" he looked up from his phone at the sound of your voice approaching him

"so you've never been hit on before huh?" you looked at him confused, but eyes going wide as the realization hit you. now it was your cheeks that turned red.

"were you spying on us Lew?" you crooked your head to the side, a cheek grin on your face.

"couldn't help myself, John was getting a little too friendly with something of mine"

"something of mine huh" you gave him a teasingly smile, but it soon dropping as he casually walked up to you while placing his hands on your hips.

"yes something of mine" you felt your breath get caught in your throat as you felt him pull himself closer to you, if that was even possible.

"you looked beautiful by the way on your first Instagram post" he leaned in towards your ear, his lips placing light kisses to your cheek making his way towards your jaw.

"Lew we're in public" your voice was shaky, afraid that somebody was going to see you and him practically pressed up against each other in the hallway.

"okay and" you felt his hand slide up your back, his fingers tracing over the two numbers that laid out across your back, number 44, as his other hand cupped your cheek making you look up at him as his finger played with your bottom lip.

"I love it when you wear my number on your body, you look gorgeous with it on" he leaned in giving your cheek a kiss, before he pulled away from your frame eyeing your figure up and down a smirk pulling at his lips. as he put his hands in his pocket.

"I'll see you around love" he gave you a wink as he turned on his heel walking from you, frozen in place, breathless and wanting to feel his hands on you again.

Lewis soon returned to the garage, making his way back over to his seat, which ironically was beside john. "Hey have you seen --, thought she was supposed to be coming out soon?" he fought the urge to roll his eyes at the kid.

"no I haven't seen her" his response was blunt and sharp, which made John give him a weird look and turn away from him.

"hey John, did you see the Mercedes post of ---" another engineer who wasn't sat at the table at the time, picked up his phone and showed John the photo. which made Lewis roll his eyes as he heard the two boys fan over you.

"yeah, she looked gorgeous and she's such a nice girl" again he ignored them

"yeah, I talked with her. she's amazing" and ignored

"plus her body-

and that was the final straw for him, he cleared his throat loud enough for the two boys to hear "can you two shut up, we're in a important meeting" Lewis stated cutting the two off, both boys immediately shutting up and giving him weird looks, but remained silent. Which he was thankful for.

you walked out of your motorhome, files in your arms, freshened up and a different shirt on which now had George's numbers on it. as you walked into the garage, you noticed John and Scott and walked over to them

"hey there she is!" you laughed at John's loud voice and shushed him, white sitting down beside him. you noticed Lewis giving you a glare, as he eyes the now different shirt. But you ignored it and focused on toto who made his way into the garage with multiple files for the new car parts.

As the meeting ended and everybody got up from their seats, you looked around before going over to Lewis "you changed shirts" he said before you could even get a word out.

"yeah figured I needed to wear someone else" he rolled his eyes, jaw clenched tightly.

"looked better when it was my number" he looked up at you, a little tent in his eyes that clearly showed he was a little mad at how you changed shirts.

but you only shrugged, a innocent smile on your face "oh well, I like George's number better. looks better on me" you giggled as you saw his knuckles turn white from gripping onto the table so hard.

he said nothing as he got up from the table his hand grabbing onto yours as he pulled you away from everybody, not caring that they gave you both Weird looks as they saw you both leaving with each other

"Lewis slow down." He did in fact not slow down until you both were standing in front of his motorhome, where he unlocked the door and pushed you inside, relocking it once he was inside with you.

"so, you planning on kidnapping me from them?" he shook his head at your words, giving you a light chuckle.

"nope just wanted some alone time with you" he confessed, as he slowly walked up to you, his hands immediately cupping your face as he cashed his lips on yours. the kiss was slow and tender at first, like it was your first kiss. but it slowly turned sloppy and rough as he backed you up against the nearest wall, your leg automatically wrapping around his waist.

"you looked much better with my number on"

"well, why don't you take this off me then" you taunted him, his hand playing with the hem of your shirt. making you lift up your arms as he took the shirt off your body, the black tank top underneath still covering you up

"see, you look even better like this" he leaned forward, placing lingering kisses to your neck. "so, so much better like this" he pulled himself away from you going over to sit on the couch where he patted his lap making you walk over to him straddling his lap, his hands stroking the back of your thighs.

"so about earlier, 'something of mine'" you raised your eyebrows at him, making him shrug clearly not thinking much if his words.

"what I don't like when people flirt with something of mine, is that so bad?" He said, his hand going under your tank top making goosebumps appear on your skin as his cold hand hit your warm skin.

"since when was I considered yours"

he tilted his head pretending to think, "since last week. When you came over to my place and you let me have you all night long" you looked at him in shock, mouth sightly open as you felt your cheeks turn red at his bold words of truth.

"I think you know what I'm talking about, no"

"I hate you" you leaned forward burying your head in his chest, getting embarrassed. the air in the room getting hotter and hotter as each second passed. he chuckled at your embarrassment and softly messed with your hair

"no you don't. now look at me" you slowly lifted up your head from his chest "you're mine right" he asked again, his hand coming to rest on your collarbone, awaiting your response.

"course I am"

after scrolling through your posts i felt complelled to send an ask (i wonder why)

This kinda? relates to all the languages posts you've been making (was giggling and kicking my feet while reading them, and got inspired) but because I only speak English, I wanted to put a twist on it.

Creator who has audio processing issues and doesn't realise that Teyvat DOES actually speak the same language as them for a good while.

Because as a person with very good hearing, i sure don't fucking understand what people are saying most of the time, especially in big crowds. (its like listening to the sims sometimes man, i'm fighting for my life trying to understand😭)

So imagine a Creator getting dropped into Teyvat and getting found by a group of hunters or treasure horders, who instantly start panicking and talking all at once because 'omg our god is here' and all that.

And the Creator is still confused and diorientated, so all they're hearing is ✨words✨and they just assume that no one in Teyvat will understand them.

And then when they arrive in one of the nations and get to meet the vision bearers for the first time, the Creator makes a thirsty comment about one of them (probably would be Diluc in my case) and the entire crowd just goes SILENT.

So silent that the Creator can perfectlly understand what that vision bearer said in response.

They kinda assumed either A. You lost your voice B. You're overwhelmed, ppl r getting WAY too close to you, back off Npcs C. Or you don't speak THEIR language

So ofc Mondstadt brings you into the city and their planning a big ol festival, u came right in time for Windblume anyway, and by the time your done shaking hands and just waving and smiling (bc what else can u do u cant hear these fuckers, maybe u caught a "the" or a "hello" but you could've definitely been imagining it)

And finally you are free of the general crowd, but most of the Vision bearers (Allogenes) who were ur vessels wanna stick around, so u all end up in Angel's Share somehow

It's hella packed, and it's a bar.

So yeah u still can't hear shit, and now it just sounds like one of those fantasy medieval bar audios ambience videos

Ur just kinda kicking ur feetsies on a bar stool while like,, 4 or 5 differrent special character dishes are sitting in front of you

Diluc's behind the bar, and has been so sweetly attentive to you all evening, no matter how many tipsy patrons come up yelling for refills or drinks (or at least thats what u assume, bc u kinda end up just,, jumping and hitching ur shoulders up and trying to be lowkey about covering ur ears...)

He always comes and refills ur glass when it gets to even half-full, swiping away plates that have gone cold, and if you still want smth off of it, he's so perceptive no language needed bc he just sees your face and starts heating up the plate again with his vision with his hand :)

He's actually been the best thruout all this bc he already isn't super talkative, so ur pretty sure you've only seen his mouth open a few times, but otherwise u just communicated with him via actions/expressions

So ur chilling, well sorta, ur starting to kinda get overstimulated by the day and now this loud ass bar, and the fact that ur convinced no one speaks English here...

But hey!

Diluc's cool, u got food, and maybe u can charade to him u wanna find somewhere to retire to now for the night,,

You try and do that but he's pretty busy running around still,

"Damn, at least I get to see his ass though."

Diluc freezes.

You freeze.

Jean, Lisa, Venti, Amber, Kaeya, Rosaria freezes.

The whole bar goes silent.

Their god of gods finally spoke.

Oh they can understand you alright. (Also u were looking right at Diluc when you said it so, kinda obvious who u mean, somebody points to you behind Diluc)

Diluc just kinda,, sputters, like jerkily turns around and everything like a fried robot

Poor guy.

He doesn't even know what to say 🤷‍♂️

He has been progressively getting closer and closer to his hair color, his cheeks, his neck, his ears its a full white boy flush he cant escape its so obvious (should he say thank you? How do u even begin to thank a god for complimenting ur ass??!!)

He's caught between facing you and turning around and ducking back into the kitchen and never coming out again (unless it's just you two)

...Was it always this hot in here? Or did Diluc do this to you? 😵‍💫

(Well at least it's a lot quieter now)

some refs for my jet set radio explorers of death joke au (that sure is a sentence) because i wanted to put them on art fight (..mostly for warehouse leapusverse lore reasons)

beat and yoyo seemed like they needed refs most urgently cuz beat has a bunch of designs on account of being squirtle and yoyo's design was just hard to parse in the pics he appeared in. yeagh

based on PMD: Explorers of Death by sparklingdemon, HIGHLY recommended reading to get a grasp on what in the goddamn is going on here oh this is incredibly silly. so basically a while ago there was an in-joke about jsr and eod in a pokepasta discord i'm in, and i have a bad habit of taking jokes too far. so, of course, i took the joke WAY WAY WAY too far! the entire joke is the idea that Corn in Future retconned og JSR Beat as leader/founder of the GGs, so Corn and Beat are the Myras. no it’s not a joke funny enough to justify how many hours i sunk into drawing these. no attempt was made to change the setting, assign most of the other cast, or otherwise make this au hold up to ANY amount of scrutiny.

---- the base concept (aka reskinned eod plot) is that the og JSR timeline was getting, like, temporally retconned into the Future timeline, but Beat (in the role of Squirtle) refused to accept the changeover so he tried to hold onto his own fading timeline, trapping it (and himself) in a state of perpetual decay until he can take back the timeline. basically everybodys a grayscale rotting zombie it's miserable. also if you think "hey, isn't EOD!Beat less justified than Squirtle because the situation WASN'T life or death until he MADE IT that way" you would be right lmao JSRF Corn (as Myra), being the leader of the GGs in Future, shows up (overwriting the preexisting version of Tab ig) to try to put the dying timeline out of its misery so it can actually be reborn into the Future timeline. for some reason his spraypaint can make the zombies pass on. don't question it. he and Beat are kind of trying to take each other down so one timeline can take precedent here. Gum (as Shadow) is kind of torn between the two of them, with two overlapping contradicting sets of memories and also the most disastrous way to possibly combine her JSR and JSRF designs LMAO. her loyalties are kind of torn as a result and also she understandably isnt a big fan of all the murder going on here ... ...also, because this is a joke au that i did not bother to try to make sense, they're in the goddamn Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers for no real reason. i also tend to call Beat and Corn "Meat and Mourn" though i dont have a nickname for Gum :(. and they have some level of meta awareness that they're in a poorly crafted joke AU based on an existing creepypasta, and yet this knowledge of how inane it all is doesn't stop them from riding it out to its horrific conclusion. ...ha ha? also Yoyo is Bidoof he's just here to be the first to die dont worry about him

---- also because there's something profoundly wrong with me i have the main trio + Yoyo in me and my sibling's joke multi-crossover RP. Corn is MIA right now, Gum is in the Garage with the setting's regular version of the GGs (they are confused and concerned. esp normal!Gum)... ...and, uh... Beat and Yoyo are in the Warehouse. (Pauein 9696 is just kind of there too.) they're... friends? i think......???? they are trapped in there and dont know Warehouse Yoyo is actually the goddamn building theyre trapped in

in the warehouse, eod!yoyo is kind of... barely coherent, only aware a fraction of the time, and not really able to do a whole lot since he's in such bad condition. he's just kind of taking anything as it happens at this point bc he can't do anything about it, but internally he's very pessimistic both about the idea that Beat can fix anything OR that there's any chance they'll escape the warehouse. eod!beat is... sort of kind of friends with the Warehouse but it's a very fragile friendship prone to arguments since he is trying VERY hard to leave (esp cuz he has UNFINISHED BUSINESS with killing corn and MAKING THINGS RIGHT) but Warehouse Yoyo is manipulatively trying to keep him without letting on that's what he's doing. both of these guys are fucked in the head tbh. at least nobody's judging each other for being walking corpses with weird metafiction elements.

What do you like about tlt? I wanted to like it but the first book never clicked for me. Was confused the whole time and I read like half the book. Looked online and and ppl said that you are supposed to be confused? And im like what??? I read gideon and dropped it way before the books blew up. Now, I'm on the fence about picking it up again. Tlt fandom seems unhinged and fun

I love this series so much it makes me want to gnaw off my own arm, so I tried to make a list that hopefully doesn't make me come across like this:

The writing. It's so good. And yes it is confusing on first read, I tried to start Gideon the Ninth years ago while coming off of general anesthesia the day of a major surgery and let's just say that was not the moment, but I knew I was going to love it when I would be in the right mindset to read it. It's intentionally confusing, but the payoff is 100% worth it, and each book ends with a big revelation that shifts your perspective. But most of the confusion is about why things are happening, you do understand what is happening most of the time so you're never completely lost, you get the context for why things are happening along the way and it's masterfully crafted. You get so much out of rereading these books after getting more context in later books, because there are many breadcrumbs sprinkled throughout that you won't be able to pick up on until later. That might put some people off but if you like great world building and feeling like a detective, this is the series. I read the books with a notepad next to me to write down my thoughts and important information.

The characters. Characters to love, characters to hate, characters to love to hate, characters you hate for making you laugh. All of the characters.

The humor. The biggest reason why I didn't care about the confusion next to loving the characters is that it's incredibly funny.

The audiobooks. My first read I listened to the audiobooks while reading along. This is the best way for me to read and stay focussed. Rereads by listening to the audiobooks are so enjoyable because the narration from Moira Quirk is amazing.

hi!! i hope you’re having a great day!! i was curious how the obey me ! boyfies (hcs) would react if their s/o who is selectively clingy w certain people kinda back off suddenly because they just feel.. embarrassed?? like when they were a kid people reacted negatively to their clinginess and would ignore them for it. and they just feel so dumb to show emotion & showing their clinginess? and they feel like they’re being a bother and being annoying too... & suddenly just feel like closing off from the world lol? & like they can just feel really out of place and get negative thoughts that they don’t belong there, X person or a group of ppl in the convo don’t wanna talk to them etc and feel like they don’t belong in the conversation if that makes sense (i get those thoughts especially when i’m in a group i feel like i get overlooked a lot lol and i’ve never really felt included + like i can just feel so overwhelmed sometimes about the amount pf people / crowds or feeling like i’m being judged bc i’m beating myself up mentally abt my insecurities and i just end up most likely having a panic attack and just like tearing up, either crying on the spot or trying to hold it in till i get home). i’ve been feeling like this recently and i’d love to see what they’d do if that’s possible please!! thank you so much!!

Is slightly suprirsed, confused and a tiny bit offended.

Because well, everything was great and then... this thing happened. Did he do anything wrong?

Because he must know so not to repeat it in the future.

He sees you are hesitant to explain but surprisingly, Satan is really patient and will not just let it go.

“Kitten, I’ve never in my life been happier than when I am with you. It’s okay sometimes we need our space but trust me, you never bore or upset me”.

Will make you some mint tea and will bring you sugar cookies while reading a book to you.

Asmodeus

To be honest, he is slightly hurt because no one ever backed off from him before.

Will become very emotional but also determined to find out the reason behind your behavior.

“Darling, but would you please come in my arms? I’d love to calm you down”.

Will stroke your hair and give you kisses on the head until you are able to explain what happened.

Is super sensitive and supportive (which is one of his greatest strengths)

“My dear, even I feel overlooked at times... Just don’t tell anyone, okay?”

Beelzebub

He has a bit of a hard time understanding such things so he will honestly have no idea what to do at first.

Like, do you wanna be alone or do you need him? Do you wanna cry or are you angry at him?

It’s really complex for Beel and he often wishes he was better at understanding both demons and humans.

He will directly ask you and will apologize for not understanding your emotions.

While he can’t fully comprehend the concept of you being selectively clingy, he will do his best to understand it in the future.

“Just share how you feel with me, okay? Like, always”

Belphegor

He won’t show it but it hurt him when you backed off.

“Maybe you can write me a note next time you decide you don’t like me anymore?”

*yeah, sarcasm is his weapon of choice when he is confused*

Will hate himself for saying that so will be double-confused since he is akward with apologies.

“Baby, I didn’t mean to... Damn! Listen, I’m sorry, I just got a bit scared and I don’t know what’s happening. Mind explaining, please?”

the thing is since jamil is a naturally cautious person and azuls usual M.O. is that favors from him don't come without a price it ABSOLUTELY comes off to jamil as INCREDIBLY suspicious. in a scenario where they're not already together jamil is absolutely going to confront azul like "if you're trying to cozy up to me to put me in your debt its not gonna work Just give it up already". no jamil the expensive imported spices he got you for your birthday aren't poisoned or drugged no he doesn't expect you to pay him back with money or favors or connections no it's not ""letting him win"" if you use them because he's not going to somehow magically sense when you do that Can You Go To Therapy

eventually he has to admit to himself that at that point hes being really irrationally paranoid about azuls intentions mostly because the other keeps going out of his way to do these little inane things for him that hold no value to anyone but jamil. and the only thing azul ever gets out of that is a reaction from jamil, because jamil won't ever give him anything past that, they BOTH know it, and it confuses the hell out of jamil why the other keeps doing it regardless (its because azul is very clearly trying to impress jamil and on an off tangent it does fall through half the time bc 1) jamil actively sabotages himself On The Regular which makes it really hard to do nice things for him and 2) azul is always being just a little tryhard cringefail about it and cant keep his cool because he just wants to pull out All The Stops for jamil which makes him look super insincere when in reality hes the sincerest hes ever been)

however once he realizes that azul doesn't really Have an ulterior motive behind doing things for him. like azul isn't trying to control him or make jamil do anything he doesn't want to. jamil isn't gonna know how to cope with that. he can't grasp the concept of ANYONE really taking the time to watch him and understand the desires he never speaks out loud and it's. nerve-wracking. it frightens him, a little, how much he finds himself noticing the thought azul puts into these favors, the way azul adapts every time to be able to do these things for jamil despite jamil actively resisting it and stubbornly making things harder for himself out of habit. and most of all, it scares him how easily he could get used to this, how easy it is to find it endearing instead of annoying, how easy it would be to let himself accept the small, momentary bursts of traitorous happiness that spark in him when azul demonstrates how much he understands jamil

agreed on not thinking bart has complexes about whether he's intelligent or capable or a good hero. genuine self-confidence that doesn't need external validation is such an integral part of bart's character. in yja i think the main places insecurity would come from is being kid flash (it's canon he's grappled with feeling like a fraud), and being from a different timeline (in the sense he might feel out of place sometimes despite genuinely considering the present his home now)

this is what i love about this community because i think it’s so helpful (even to ppl who feel like they have a good grip of his character) to have this type of outline of things that are practically intrinsic to what is considered “good” characterisation of him. and u formulated it so clearly !! like yes, exactly this.

i agree a million percent with what u said about yja bart’s insecurities, the wally one is a given (like u said about the fraud bit + considering how his suit has been changed up PLUS when he mentions how ppl still don’t understand that he’s a different kid flash and clearly showed that he didn’t feel too great about that PLUS dick being frustrated in that one scene that bart’s kid flash was confused by forager for wallys kid flash, like whoa is there a lot of material to work with lol)

and i love and entirely agree with the “being from a different timeline” aspect like i think it can’t be overstated how significantly his personal worldview is shaped from the time he originally grew up in. That stuff stays with you especially considering he left at a point where he was mentally pretty mature, that makes it hard to change, no matter how much he considers the new TL his home, his original TL makes up so much of who he is. And translating that into almost “cultural” differences in terms of morality, perspective, values, practices, customs, is soooo interesting and in any tiny day to day thing which he doesn’t click with, that stuff can build up or linger. Considering he apparently has insane compartmentalisation skills (or like mentioned in the tags here is either incredibly out of touch with reality lol) he is someone who can appear pretty alright and integrated which makes those moments of reminder of where he’s rlly from all the more potent which i just think is like mind blowing LOL

scenes in YJ where he’s clearly having a blast running with that edge of cockiness, not in a condescending way, more so that he’s just having that much fun with himself, coupled with how he’s just always doing his own thing gives him overall a massive sense of independence, which in the comics makes him a hero with his own mantle and the potential to step out/away of the flash one to continue to do his own thing, but in the show because of the circumstances and plot, him going the classic kid flash -> flash route makes a lot of sense, but most importantly without removing that core feature of his. That’s what makes it possible for him as a character to take up the Flash mantle on E16. which is something i would really love to see !!!

RIGHT ON! its okay, i would have given random tips but i wasnt sure if there was something specific you were looking for!

my inspo largely comes from other media. tv shows, movies, edits, fucking character ai bots, other fics; literally anything that i enjoy i typically wind up using in my fics. its not for me personally but plenty of people get inspired by music! songs and music videos

other fics are excellent inspo bc u can see how readers respond to tropes that they've done. age gap, dilf, aus, and stuff like that. its also rlly great to see characterization. as long as you're not plagiarizing then emulating and learning from other writers who are doing the same thing you do or want to do is excellent. i love reading fics hehe

ik that sounds like super basic and boring but having a repertoire of existing tropes and stuff is super great!

as for word usage, it's all super subjective bc my tastes and stuff will not match up for everyone. but if u like how i write and want to emulate it then there are a few things i can say! i focus mostly on smut and dialogue.

first, it's important to have a good vocabulary. knowing synonyms to words you want to say is important. u don't want to have a paragraph that uses the same word over and over again, you want to break it up and make it mentally appealing to read. it won't be interesting to readers if you don't expand your vocab!

i am primarily a smut writer so that's where most of my focus is on intentional word usage. all my narration and plot is pretty basic i'd say. nothing incredibly special except for my dialogue which i put a lot of thought into.

i don't use metaphors that much. so, say, for smut u won't catch me using "globes" in reference to tits. i much prefer to just come out and say breasts, tits, chest.

i also don't use like Correct anatomy language. so i don't use penis, testicles, vagina or clitoris. i use.......porn language bc that's what im writing; cock, pussy, cunt, clit. just to keep it......erotic bc i personally (again, subjective) find correct anatomy language to be more off-putting than erotic.

smut is where it becomes difficult to use broad language. there's only so many words you can use for a dick. so don't be afraid to bust out some wattpad words u know? length, member, etc. ik they can sometimes be cringey and u don't like them but use them at the right time and using it sparingly and most ppl won't rlly notice. it breaks up reading the word cock and dick over and over and over again for 2k words.

for some examples,

for dicks u can use; dick, cock, member, shaft, length

for the puth u can do; pussy, cunt, folds, core, sex isn't bad

clit i use clit, bud, and nub mostly...but ppl use pearl or button, i don't but it doesn't bother me when i see it

i also don't use flowery language. i know in creative writing or whatever it's common to use poetic word usage but i find it to be more confusing than anything. i can't read rlly flowery fics bc the meaning of what im reading just genuinely gets lost. it's all lost on me. i'd say im a much more direct writer with my words and scenes? i utilize a fair bit of narration and exposition in my writing.

i find dialogue style to be quite important. if you read my stuff (like the fics, we dont look at my word vomit LMAOOO) you'll usually see i make the characters talk in specific ways.

simon cuts off his words "goin'" instead of "going", "somethin'" instead of "something", like that. i dont use a ton of language to depict his accent other than that, i leave the leg work mostly up to the readers bc they know what he sounds like. but some writers do like british slang, "wanker", "mate", "innit" LMAO i just don't and thats my choice. i choose to just cut his words off and call it a day. he has a more casual way of speaking in Taking What You Need as compared to konig in Experience.

konig, in Experience, has a specific way of talking as well that is opposite to simon. he doesn't use contractions. i did that intentionally bc i wanted him to have a more intimidating, professional, cold kind of way of talking. "do not do it" comes across different than "don't do it"!

i personally would say that a large part of my characterization comes across in dialogue and the style of dialogue i choose. i think that makes it more enjoyable for readers!

all in all, i basically just emulate what i personally like to see in writing. that's how i keep finding it enjoyable. i love giving fics for ppl to read but if i didn't write straight up what I wanted to see then the actual physical task of writing would be a lot worse.

idk how helpful this was since i basically just told u.....what i like to do LMAOOOO but i hope it gives u some kind of idea of what i focus on and how i get my writing to be the way it is?

EDIT: important that i also use inclusive language to the best of my abilities!

instead of saying like "your cheeks turned red" i use "you feel your cheeks heat up" or something along those lines since people with darker skin tones won't have their cheeks turn red when they blush!! but feeling your cheeks BURN is smthn we've all experienced.

i also try not to use any "running your hands through your hair" bc not everyone can do that! i can't even do that i have curly hair hehe. an alternative would be pushing a stray strand out of your face or tucking some behind your ear or something like that.

also, i don't mention nipple color or vagina color or anything !

Oda certainly has some “issues” with his designs, Usopp and most of the other black and brown characters, along with pretty much all of his women have fairly obvious “these were designed by a Japanese dude who loves boobs and has probably only seen non asian people in film/media vibes.”

That being said… if it were up to me, I probably would still exaggerate a fair amount of features, but push them more towards the direction of the ethnicity / nationality they’d represent.

Luffy and Vivi for example, I would definitely make brown. I’m pretty sure the live action show will be a disaster given how bad cowboy bebop was, BUT! The casting of live action Luffy is spot on! Curly hair? Check! Thick assed eyebrows? Check! Feral boy energy? Check!

Zoro I’d have it so he dyes his hair, his eyebrows can be dark thick assed Asian eyebrows and the moss is his choice cuz he’s an idiot and thinks it’s cool.

Nami, I’d make her overall a bit more elfin; give a bit of an upturn to her nose and freckles obviously. Aside from that not too much of a change. Animu already makes ppl kinda white looking…

Usopp would definitely be wide nose instead of long nose and frankly I’d give him more prominent eyelids. I think he’d be darker relative to the other mugiwara even if Banchina is mixed race.

Sanji I would definitely give a much bigger much more French nose and maybe make him more like a French Buscemi overall? Sanji’s biggest problems are in his writing, but I think Oda has definitely been showing growth in our weird confused little misogynist.

Chopper I can see as half Asian tbh bc there’s a ton of Asians in Canada. Also he’s a kid so not that different from the way I already draw him haha.

Robin I think would also be more about making that nose more prominent and making those deep set eyes and heavy eyelids pop. Though tbh she could be kinda mixed too, like white Eastern European mixed with Asiatic Steppe ppl blood could also work?

(The main thing I’d change with all the women is waistline and boob size lol, also Nami face, I would definitely make Hancock and Tashigi clearly Asian. Love that Nojiko is black in the live action and would totally make Miss Double Finger black as well. Vivi would totally be brown, why not black? Ptolemaic Egyptians are essentially Greeks, so more Middle Eastern Mediterranean Sefardi vibes for Vivi.)

Franky doesn’t really need much change except maybe the nose also being more prominent? He already does look kinda like a large white dude to begin with lol. His butt-butt chin thing is weird but within the realm of cartoon liberty.

And my Brook would probably look like an older cross between Marley and Hendrix. So not thaaat different from Oda’s design I guess? I think of him as being from Jamaica at any rate, no idea where Oda had actually slated him to be from…

I didn’t do them, but Jinbei would probably be an older chunky Asian dude, and Yamabro would probably be an albino? The whole white hair red eyes thing lol…

At any rate… design is still incredibly labor and thought intensive so despite his issues, I take my hat off with full respect to Oda sensei and base my drawings off those designs.

metatron! now i have to be honest, i had never really heard of metatron till.. couple weeks ago when i watched s2! and it seems that this isn't an uncommon thing too, there's much more description of metatron in jewish literature than islamic, his name isn't mentioned in the quran at all iirc, but given the other similarities in religion i thought to look it up and found that! he exists! but i don't know what the whole.. beyond the veil thing entails, really. 😔 not even sure what this "veil" is. regarding metatron i have basically no knowledge at all. we're all learning here!

but! the free will discussion... oof. honestly this is a big topic. as it should be, but a lot of young muslim kids ask this question of.. if everything is predetermined, how can God judge us for our mistakes? we're told we have autonomy and choice to do what we want (which is what makes us human.) but Allah has also predetermined everything. uh. so [shrug] the analogy that stuck with me most was that if a child is given two options for food by their parent, the parent will know what they are going to pick, but they still have the choice. its flawed like all analogies but it is a good framework i think. there's also the thing about Allah knowing everything that will happen but not actively enforcing it? its definitely confusing. i hope i made any sense at all ;-; again happy to answer any questions if that has raised any but i can't.. promise i'll give good answers sjkfhgh [gestures at these paragraphs]

ik i pass as a Horny For Old Men kinda guy but my attraction to them isnt... entirely sexual. It barely is.

My attraction, part of it is my autism absolutely adoring my blorbos, part of it is attraction to their characters and personalities, but the largest part of it is gender envy.

there's a very very thin line between I want to fuck him and I want to Be Him for me.

Also, with sex, and consuming pornography, I dont... imagine myself being fucked/fucking. I am detached from it. I imagine the feelings and emotions and shit, dont get me wrong. But I imagine it as though I am the character themselves experiencing it, not me. I simply like when people show off mutual pleasure and want and lust and desire and blasphemy, and, this is really sad, I can not, for the life of me, imagine a scenario where I am having that mutual reciprocated pleasure with someone.

So I really like my blorbos when sex. Because the tf2 men are so. so incredibly goofy and ridiculous and unconventionally shaped and insane and its like.. ok yeah, I can vibe with this. It isn't like, y/n type shit. It's literally sweaty middle aged men fucking in the most unconventional places. It's awesome.

Also I love love love when author's do queer shit. Like, queer history shit. And queer sex. I read a fic where, in his backstory, Medic studied at the Institute of Sexology in Germany before Nazi Germany, before the book burnings, and Medic secretely preformed the first top surgery ever, in history, on his close friend. And Medic was one of the contributing authors to HRT and trans studies, and even though so many of the books were burned (this actually happened btw, its estimated that we still arent up to the same point knowledge wise as we would be if those academic trans books hadnt been burned.), Medic knew the ins and outs of it all well enough to make his own fucking drug lab and create testosterone for Scout tf2. To help him transition. And I was like. That's awesome.

Or, or like, this one fic. Where scout is like oh god im gay??? And spy is like "lol you are gay. Anyways here's a book I wrote about being gay and all the shit that I've learned and my shenanigans with sex and anatomy and gays and lesbians and gender. And my deceased lover who was killed for basically everything written in this book"

It's like... I feel this strange solidarity, reading it all. Because its.. We've all been there, we've all been in that confusing ass "this is so.. wrong" or like... the hunch you get, before you come out to anyone. The hunch that your parents wont accept you, regardless of what they've said about gay ppl in the past or how much they love you and how much they'll support you. There's always that little sliver of doubt, that, that this is the thing that gets you kicked out of the house, that gets you abused.

And its. It makes me feel so good when I read queer shit in the context of the tf2 universe.

This is Extremely long but there are parts here that spoke to me so I am going to respond to this in parts:

I don't think it's that weird to visualize yourself as a particular person or character in sexual scenarios. In my experience this has a lot to do with being trans. A Lot of bdsm is playing roles or characters or etc, and I have actually found that that kind of thing can be very very alleviating if you have trouble being "yourself" in sexual situations you otherwise want to partake in. You should note that I do not in any way id as ace but some people with similar experiences do id somewhere on the asexual spectrum. That's really up to the individual, in my opinion

When you're trans and gay (of any variety), of course it's going to be difficult sometimes to distinguish attraction from gender envy. A lot of what society pushes as "gender-conforming" is the same as what it pushed as "attractive", so for a lot of trans people, presenting as the gender that they are can manifest as a desire to look attractive (not even necessarily "conventionally", just what they think is attractive). Tbh I don't really think this is like, a "problem" if it's just fictional characters; I probably wouldn't recommend dating an actual human being you constantly feel envious of, but like I would probably fuck Sniper tf2's mind out and obviously I do a lot of gender envy and projection and kinnie stuff onto him. I would also fuck my own clone though so I might be weird in this regard

Okay finally like the meat and potatoes of this ask: I ALSO love when people do gay shit w the tf2 men! For me, this manifests itself in stuff like the Medic leather ask I did a while ago, because I like kink and kink history and kink culture and that's what I know about and what I like to write about. It also helps people to see a positive representation of some aspect of themselves in these characters that they like, but, more importantly TO ME, I get to tell MORE people abt this kind of thing. This is the biggest platform I've ever had and I get to use these stupid video game men to like, teach people about shit! About gay shit! And I love that. I love you freaks who care abt stuff like this I love people doing gay shit and trans shit and kink shit with the tf2 men. It can be comforting it can be therapeutic it can genuinely cause a lot of positive change in someone's life, and most importantly it is FUN and it is HOT

Heya. I hope you’re not too overwhelmed with asks atm.

I recently got given a JPS tanakh (the Hebrew-English version) and I’ve been looking up how to read it properly and stuff and I thought I understood so I started trying to read it but I’m just not getting it. It’s almost just like washing over me and I’m not really getting anything out of it? I know there’s different ways to engage with it but I don’t really understand how to actually put them into practice.

I was reading Genesis and I didn’t really have any thoughts or anything. I do wonder how much of it is simply that I don’t understand Hebrew so I can’t really comment much on the word choices and connotations coz the English isn’t the original and may not always accurately pick up on the nuances? But I don’t even know what I’m meant to be getting out of it atm lol

And I saw ppl recommending to read commentaries so I started trying to read some of the commentary on it but I didn’t quite understand how the two were meant to slot together, if that makes sense? It feels like I’m missing a piece of the puzzle here and idk how to help that.

Sorry this is a bit of a long one. I hope it doesn’t come across as disrespectful or anything. I’m trying to learn more about this coz I think it’s interesting. Thank you muchly for any advice in advance :)

First, there's no "right" way to learn Torah. Everyone learns and interprets Torah in different and unique ways.

However, the nature of Torah and the nature of Judaism is that it works best with a community. Torah is meant to be learned with other people: The concept of a Chavruta, partners in Torah learning, goes back thousands of years. Every week we read a different Parsha (Torah Portion) in synagogue, and share Divrei Torah (words of Torah) about it with our community. Torah is meant to be learned communally.

Now, I understand that it's not possible for everyone, and everyone has different learning styles. However, I really think it would help you to try and find a Torah study group. Nowadays there are lots of virtual options, too.

If that doesn't work for you, here are a few tips:

Torah, and Tanakh in general, isn't meant to be read like a storybook. Bereishit (Genesis) isn't the beginning and Dvarim (Numbers) isn't the end. You'll notice that the Torah, and all of Tanakh, often makes chronological jumps and that time doesn't seem to make sense sometimes. It's a tradition even to start teaching children from VaYikra (Leviticus) first before teaching the other four sections. And Torah is meant to be cyclical. That's why we have Simchat Torah every year, a holiday celebrating the completion of reading all Parshiyot in the Torah in synagogue and the re-start of the Torah from Bereishit again.

Torah is also meant to be read critically. There's classical commentaries like Rashi, and more recent and contemporary commentators, too. There's countless Divrei Torah written about everything in Tanakh. The text isn't meant to be read "raw". If reading it straight from your book doesn't work, try learning about different concepts in Torah through easier-to-digest Divrei Torah and articles. If one story or law in Tanakh fascinates or confuses you, look up things written about it by Rabbis and scholars from hundreds of years ago to today.

And my biggest tip: Use Sefaria. Sefaria is a free (although they always accept donations) website with an archive of so so many Jewish texts, from Tanakh, to Talmud, to Apocrypha, to Midrash, to contemporary discussions and texts. And most of it is translated to English, too. You can also click on a piece text and it will show you if there's any commentary or discussion about it, and show it to you. It's incredible and I use Sefaria all the time.

i kno theres a lot of comparison for Good Season between s9 and s7 and i love them both bc they really have entirely different vibes. they cant be the same. i dont think its fair to say why one was better than the other but rather recognize what is different about them and think about the numerous things done and why they worked well, potentially thinking about what would be nice to see going forward.

s7 was interesting bc it isnt unlike s9 in having some kind of central location and then hermits spreading out from there, as well of the numerous 'events' that occurred.

i think a central area is key... not just spawning in the same place together, but spawning there and establishing something there. s9's spawn blossoming in that spot with everyone's small starter homes was lovely because it basically made a small neighborhood. it seemed natural to make a little starter base to prepare and live in before going off to build a potentially bigger base imo. my favorite thing about s9 (kind of s8 simply because of proxy voice) is the excitement and chaos of starting and everyone bumping into each other and poking fun etc and i think spawn is a key part of that! its what i look forward to most for the start of a season.

in terms of events, its something the hermits were very good at in s7 and naturally did in s9 again. events are good. they allow collabs between bigger numbers! i cant even count all the events on each season but i realize i feel there is like... a 'roleplay-ish' event and some kinda game event lol. and strangely we had two events that had to do with controlling a district/server etc (s7 mayor and s9 king). which is just coincidence. but, this kinda back and forth of funny 'lets play pretend" to some degree can be amusing to watch and i dont mind it, but its the way that its played out that matters. s7 mayor was pretty simple and didnt effect other people too hard (it was on a much smaller scale tbh), whilst ren's king arc was incredibly involved!! and that is NOT an insult (i think it was done decently in a way where ppl not involved did not have weird video situations of being confused or left out-- they could ignore it easily).

it is just wild to see the progression of work done between these events these ppl created. honestly no matter the ups and downs of the king arc i cannot applaud ren enough for everything he did, it was insane. this is to say-- i wouldnt doubt a pattern potentially coming through-- playing pretend in a way thats a bit more than just a prank war, and obviously making silly games. games are really The staple of the server and the way people get together to have fun. my only wish would be to not have another mayor/king/etc arc lol. i dont think thatll be an issue.

i think what stands out for both season are the things some hermits make that arent mini games or just a little play pretend, but the long going events that get people involved for a longer period-- s7's button, tag, head games, decked out or the base trade. s9's decked out, tcg, mumbo's new button, ren's quests, etc... and i imagine they will all come up with new things again. s9 at least to me felt like it lacked some of that but its probably more because the ones that did come up lasted a long time inbetween giving hermits more time to work on their builds. but they all came in waves that felt fitting. let a thing happen for a while, it slows down, people spend time more specifically working on their base. rinse repeat. i guess in some ways it felt 'organized' but i can see how it maybe didnt work for some people-- some didnt like watching tcg and when it was the main focus, some people didnt watch. same goes with decked out.

and of course, across both seasons, its always a toss up on how "complete" is feels. and my prespective is less of who completes what, but instead how the season potentially affected their ability to work on their stuff. of course there are all kinds of irl things that affect them too so i cant judge this as if i know everything. s9 felt kind of linear? again, in the sense of how larger scale events were spaced out. and i feel like ppl were given good spans of time to work on their stuff. really, it just seemed like irl things is what slowed some people down towards the end, especially when the pauses between things like tcg and decked out were spent dealing with irl, and then returning because of those events. at least from my perspective, s7 felt a bit more chaotic in terms of this pacing due to the randomness of events and the fact they would often take them away from their bases. i dont actually feel like anyone worked less on their bases in s7 than s9, but the big things that happened were not at all paced the same way as they were in s9 (it sometimes made me feel like they werent making much progress at all even though they were lol).

it is interesting taking a look at these two seasons because i think they had a lot of the same stuff, but both went about it differently. i think these two seasons define the hermits very well-- the kinds of stuff they do, the stuff they enjoy, and what they tend to keep doing. assuming s10 doesnt get some kind s8 treatment i can only see this one going forward just as well as the previous. and i hope as well to see some very interesting new ideas from after the insane massive works like tcg and decked out 2.

#it is interesting to see the contrast of the center of the server #s7 was so focused on markets like. so so much #bc the market was the 'spawn'#on the other hand market wasnt a massive focused for a majority of s9 because it wasnt the center #instead it was spawn where there were mostly homes and whatnot #i just think that alone is interesting #but ironically it was s9 that ended up starting with so much focus on money that they fucked up the ecenomy

hi mbw! how do you think the fandom changed over the past two years you've been posting your fics on ao3? the way people approach/expect of fics has changed? what ppl say in the comments?

hello anon! thanks for the interesting question! to preface, i think the nature of any internet community (and really any community, digital or not, regardless of scale) is that it's going to evolve over time. fandom is always changing and will always change based on the social context it exists within.

i rejoined fandom right before an incredibly unique (and hopefully isolated) time in history. I started posting my first fic in feb 2020 and finished just about two weeks after basically the entire world went on lockdown. during a very frightening event in most of our lives, people had a lot of free time. And many of them found fandom.

so the beginning of my fandom experience was pretty uniquely defined by the abundance of time a lot of folks suddenly had, and the way they fell in love with fic and fandom as a result. and then tiktok rolled in with its absolutely unbelievable power to introduce people to new things (fandom obviously included), bringing in a different wave of new enthusiasm. this, from my point of observation, looks like two enormous waves of folks participating in fandom for either the first time, or the first time in a very long time (like ya girl here). there's obviously a boatload of nuance involved, and what effectively amounts to turnover and replacement rates as people's engagement waxes and wanes, but very broadly speaking, A LOT of people have entered the dramione fandom in the last two and a half years.

relevant to this ask, i saw this tiktok recently that i think beautifully (and more articulately than i could ever manage) sums up the way this huge influx of newness in the fandom has resulted in some unique pressures. it hits on so many points (and so efficiently) that i've seen playing out in real time: confusion over language, misunderstandings about the intent of fanfiction, engagement with fic shifting away from the author and more towards social media platforms and influencers, capitalism in fandom, and an oil and water sort of failure by some newcomers to read the room, so to speak.

i would highly, highly suggest (might even go so far as to beg) folks to take three minutes out of their day and watch this tiktok. it's efficient, illuminating, and absolutely worth the time.
