Okay Burrow's End had me thinking some thoughts... So here are my favorite Dimension 20 moments that rotate like a rotisserie chicken in my brain (in no particular order other than the order I thought if them).
- Riz goes into the butthole of the Corn Ooze Monster (Fantasy High). The first absolutely insane shenanigans move anyone makes on D20, setting the tone the show will have forever.
- Raphaniel kills Queen Pamelia (Ravening War). I think I saw Brennan's soul leave his body briefly when he got that How Do You Want To Do This from Matt. Time was an absolute flat circle that day.
- Hank convinces Brennan to let him role savvy instead of sneak (Mentopolis). Hank is one of the most famous content creators, having him on the show was phenomenal to begin with. Then right out of the gate, he pulls this move in his first episode. And it just works. Hilarious, instantly iconic.
- Jet Dies (A Crown of Candy). When Lapin dies, it is shocking but I wasn't attached to him as a character. Lapin was a bit antagonistic and his death happens early in the season. On the other hand, Jet is instantly likeable. Emily and Siobhan are amazing as siblings, their performances this campaign are some of my favorites. I have siblings and I am very close to them, so this hit me like a ton of bricks.
- The entire epilogue of Burrow's End. "Are you pitching and Air Bud ending?" is one of the instant hall of fame quotes from this show. I started crying I was laughing so hard.
- Ylfa's bottleneck and the TPK (Neverafter). There are so many close calls for total party kills in Dimension 20 history, but this is where it finally happens and it's only 3 episodes in. I was on edge, expecting another TPK at any turn, for the rest of the campaign.
- 3 nat one initiative rolls for the battle that literally opens the season (A Starstruck Odyssey). The beginning of a new season is always full of excitement. This season was extra special, having everyone back in the dome after the pandemic and the season being based off Brennan's Mom's comics. The zoom energy is still in the air and I still think about this season opener a lot.
- Mother Timothy Goose breaks Snow White's concentration with a cantrip (Neverafter). Only Ally Beardsley could and we all damn well know it. Still didn't stop me from being so far in disbelief that all I could do is laugh.
- Hob's "You will never know another lonely day" speech to Rue (A Court of Fey and Flowers). I will still cry about this if I think about it for too long. Rue and Hob's romance is the heart of this season to me. I won't be over it ever.
- Gertrude convinces Nyruth to give the Questing Queens very powerful boons after the Queens tried to rob them only a few hours earlier (Dungeons and Drag Queens). The fact that this season exists drives a level of serotonin into my brain that is unimaginable. This is the definition of a big swing and when Bob rolls well, Brennan has no other choice than to honor it. This is one of the moments I have made a meme of. I cannot wait for season 2.
- Wuuvy shows up to the duel and she did not come to play (A Court of Fey and Flowers). Aabria has talked about how Wuuvy is one of her favorite NPCs and I feel the same. Wuuvy and Rue's relationship has such a great arc and this moment is so pivotal.
- Fabian's no good very bad day (Fantasy High Sophomore Year). An iconic moment in D20 history that was truly wild to watch live. For everything to go so fantastically bad for Fabian and Lou was unprecedented. There is a reason why people still talk about this moment to this day.
- Amathar survives being pushed off the castle (A Crown of Candy). Brennan tried to kill Lou so many times in this campaign. I really thought Brennan had gotten him with this one, my stomach sunk. But Lou pulls it out and Amathar lives once again.
- Pib plays "Smoke on the Water" (Neverafter). "I stepped out to play 'Smoke on the Water' " is also a hall of fame quote to me. This list could be all Pib moments if I'm being honest, he's my favorite Zac character. And the fact that Zac doesn't roll well makes this moment funnier to me.
- Buddy Bear gets planted with the All Blossom (Dungeons and Drag Queens). Jujubee and Brennan owe me a therapy session for this one. I sobbed. My cat is my baby and I will be ruined the day she leaves me, so I get it. I really do.
- "Eat your dice, Brennan" (Fantasy High Sophomore Year). A great bit made physically possible by Siobhan. I hope Siobhan gives him gummy dice or something like that so that Brennan can continue to eat his dice for Junior Year.
- Orange Top Hat Fairy (Neverafter). It's a horror season and the cast is doing bits about how hot a mini is the entire finale and the Adventuring Party that followed. I felt the stress and off the walls energy through the screen. The Smooth Criminal pin was the first piece of Dimension 20 merch I bought.
- Viola's epic takedown of Phoebe (Burrow's End). Watching Rashawn absolutely crush it her first time in the dome was amazing. I loved Viola from the jump, her arc was so satisfying and fun to watch. Also the idea of a tiny stoat kicking a gun just the right way to get it to fire is hilarious. No notes other than please have Rashawn come back on every season she possibly can.
- Evan Kelmp warns the Rosemont student not to duel him (Misfits and Magic). Brennan's deadpan warning matched with the reactions of the other players and Aabria really make this scene. An underrated Brennan moment for sure.
- Stacey Fakename turns out to be real (Mentopolis). This was such a good reoccurring bit, so to have Stacey be real at the end of the story was too funny. In a season of bits, tropes, and puns - this one has the most payoff to me and is definitely my favorite.

If you're still up for Dad requests... max forgets to put the money of the tooth fairy and little one is all sad about it, so max starts making up excuses to make baby feel better and the next day his child wakes up with a big gift and a note signed by the tooth fairy
A/N: Dad Max? Are you kidding me? This is my crack
"DADDYYYYYYYY!" Max has never moved so fast, ripping his headphones off and rushes through the house to his little girl, Adrianna's room. "Cub? What's wrong?" Shoving the door open he huffs loudly, taking deep breaths.
"My tooth!" She squeals happily as you rush into the room, wrapped in a towel and hair sopping wet. "Oh, cub that's fantastic. Did it hurt?" Max coos, dropping to open knee to make sure the empty gum wasn't bleeding too bad.
"Adri, you scared me." You huff, as it was getting close to her bedtime and all you heard was screaming and Max running. Max hates running. "Daddy, Mommy is nakie." Max snorts and turns eyeing your naked legs, which ends with you smacking his shoulder.
"I'm proud of you baby." Kissing Adrianna's cheek you go back to rinse out your shampoo. "Daddy, does this mean the tooth fairy is coming tonight?" Adri whispers, looking around her room.
Max scoops her up holding the tooth as he sits her on the bathroom counter. "Stay here," Max walks to his console and logs off not caring. Going to the kitchen he gets a warm class of water and salt.
"Alright, swish." Taking the cup she cringes but does as she's told. Spitting she smiles, a giant gap in our mouth now. "Bed time, cub." Ardi holds out her arms and let's Max carry her and lays her down. "Now go to sleep, so Mr. Tooth Fairy can come and visit."
---------------------------
"Morning baby, did the tooth fairy leave you a good gift?" You ask as Adri walks in hugging her Lion stuffie. "I didn't get anything." Max freezes in the door way, lucky you havent noticed him.
"What do you mean Adri?" "Mommy, Mr. tooth fairy didn't leave me anything. And my tooth is still here." She whines, her little words sending distress through Max. Curse you and his inability to ignore you in the shower. He forgot, you're gonna kill him.
"He didn't? Oh, Adri maybe he was just busy." Max swallows his pride and walks in. The moment his presence is noticed Adri whines and runs to her Daddy's arms. You glare at Max mouthing to fix this.
-----------------------------
"Just write," Max growls at Charles who's trying so hard not to pee himself from laughing. "No, no wait let me get this straight." Charles wipes his eyes.
"You forget to give sweet little Adri her, tooth fairy gift because your hot wife was only in a towel and you two had some, Mommy and Daddy time?" Charles chokes on the laugh as Max groans slamming his head on the table.
"Just write your little chicken scratch so I can get out of here and make my little girl happy." Charles wheezes out another laugh as he writes the note.
------------------------------------
Max leans in the kitchen the next morning, sipping his coffee as you walk in still a little upset with him. "Ahhhhh!" Adri little scream of happiness as she runs in holding a multiple replica driver suits. "Max," But he waves you off and bends down as Adri shows off all the suits.
You wanted to be angry, but Max just made his daughter so happy. She always wanted to dress up as her Uncles when she went to race weekends. Maybe him forgetting wasn't so bad.

6 PM and Eddie was in full story mode, gesturing wildly as he made himself a bowl of soup.
It was nothing fancy, just some canned chicken noodle that Steve had stuck his nose up at.
Then sniffed dramatically when Eddie had popped it in the microwave.
(Considering It was an after work snack, Eddie didn't take offense to his boyfriend's rich-boy sensitivities.)
"Then Brandon, the asshole, pulls in this ancient Jeep. Swears he checked it out before he bought it." He's still in his shop clothes, too busy going through his day to change.
"Did he actually though? Noooo." Eddie drawled out, fetching a spoon and setting the warmed bowl on the counter.
"Wasn't he the guy who just bought that truck?" Steve asked from his spot on the couch. He had beaten Eddie home, a rare accomplishment for him on a Wednesday.
Eddie spun, spoon in hand. "The one with the bad engine? Yes!"
"At least the color wasn't bad."
"It was banana yellow." With a scoff, Eddie put the can in the sink, picked up his bowl, and threw it in the trash.
He made it two entire steps forward before he froze, eyes growing wide.
“Stevie.” Eddie whispered, his entire body slumping dramatically. “Stevie, I threw away my soup.”
Trying (and utterly failing) not to laugh, Steve said, “I know. I watched you do it."
Entire face falling into a heart wrenching pout, Eddie looked between Steve and the sink.
"I wanted that." He said pathetically.
"Do you want me to make you soup?" Steve asked, voice teasing.
"Please?" Eddie's eyes worked over time, as he slunk his way over to his boyfriend. He dropped to his knees, putting his chin on one of Steve's thighs. "Pretty please?"
Steve flushed scarlet, eyes darting to Wayne and back. He was working on accepting Eddie's more theatrical displays of affection in front of others, but didn't shove Eddie away.
Told him he would never.
Not even when it was in front of Eddie's bandmates, who still eyed Steve with distrust.
"Would you like some too Wayne?"
Pretending not to smile from his ancient armchair, Wayne hummed. "Long as it's no trouble."
"Not at all." Steve pushed at Eddie's head, prompting the other boy to back away as Steve got to his feet.
Quickly, Eddie stole his boyfriend's spot on the couch, basking in the vacated warmth.
"I'm adding veggies along with everything else. No complaining!" Steve called as he began pulling open cabinets.
"I'd never dream of it." Eddie called back, batting his eyelashes even though Steve couldn't see it.
"If he does, I'll just eat his portion. Boy can go to bed hungry if he doesn't appreciate that cookin of yours." Wayne added, in his own teasing twang.
"Suck up." Eddie fired back, sticking out his tongue.
From the kitchen, Steve turned to hide his grin.

Cooper Howard/The Ghoul x f!reader (right now there is nothing romantic, maybe in the future I am undecided.)
Description: After being captured by some cowboys, reader ends up in front of a ghoul and fearing for her life.
Notes: This is awful I apologize in advance. Please let me know what you think. This is just setting it up for the real story.
I sighed as I stumbled behind my captors. I am not even sure how you ended up in this situation. One day I woke up next to my fire surrounded by three cowboys, smiling menacing at me. Next thing I know my hands are tied and I am being forced to follow them everywhere. I heard them talking about a "last bounty" and rolled my eyes. I know their type, there is never really a last bounty.
It was night-time as we made our way to the graveyard, I was so tense you shuffled stiffly behind their leader as he tugged on the rope connecting the two of you.
"He's the best bounty hunter there is." Their leader rambles on. To be honest, I wasn't listening.
"How do we know which grave?" One of his companions asked.
"Well, Slim we look for the fresh one." He responded. "Dom Pedro has our friend dug up once a year. Cuts some pieces off and then puts him right back in the ground."
"That's awful," I mumble.
The four of us stop in front of the graveyard and see a cross with two bags of Rad-X hung above it. "Bingo." Their leader says.
"Shit." Slim replies. "You are telling me the supreme badass we're looking for is a godforsaken mutant?"
"Are you really going to let out a ghoul?" I asked, exasperated by the whole ordeal.
"Have some respec'!" Their leader interrupted. "That is your prospective coworker you's talking about Slim. And our ticket to a big payoff. And you -" He said turning around to me, "You's better keep your mouth shut. Who knows what he does with little girls like you? I imagine we will let him do whatever he likes." He growled.
"I thought you said you knew this guy?" His other companion asked.
"I said I knew of him. My pop worked with him once." He shrugged.
"Your pop?" His companion asked breathlessly. "How long's this asshole been moulderin' in the ground?"
"How do we know he's not feral?" Slim asked, obviously afraid.
"That is why we brought our little friend." Their leader said as he pulled out a cage with a chicken in it from behind his poncho. "A feral ghoul can't abide a chicken. If he goes for her, we kill him."
"Just like that?" I asked dryly. I knew this band of idiots barely stood a chance, and that this was likely where I would die.
"Shut up," Slim said before he grabbed a shovel and started to big. "Should make the bitch dig." He said turning to his friend who just laughed in response.
Some time later they finally had dug up the coffin. It was surrounded by chains, obviously keeping something strong within. I couldn't help the chill that ran up my spine. I looked over at the chicken tied to a stake and couldn't help but wonder, am I bait too? Is that why they brought me here?
The three of them watched with bated breath as they opened the coffin from afar, but I couldn't stand to watch and just kept staring down at the chicken at my feet. Their leader gave the rope tied to the coffin one last tug and it finally swung open.
A ghoul stumbles out of the coffin, groaning and coughing and cracking his bones. He obviously hadn't been let out in a long time. I couldn't help but feel bad for him. If he truly wasn't feral, then there was a person in there.
"Well well well." The ghoul finally spoke. "Why is this an Amish production of The Count of Monte Cristo or… just the weirdest circle jerk i've ever been invited to?"
I couldn't help the snort that escaped my mouth. His attention was then brought to me as I stood mostly hidden behind the leader of the gang.
After a brief silence, the leader started laughing as well, obviously trying to diffuse the tension. "Welcome back. I'm Honcho. Now you don't even know us-"
"No." The ghoul interrupted. "I do not." His gaze then moved down to the chicken. He slowly approached as he licked his lips in anticipation.
The four of us moved back in fear as he picked up the chicken.
"Does that count?" Slim asked. "Should I shoot him?"
"Would you shut the fuck up," Honcho responded. "We-uh, we got a proposition for you." He said as he moved his attention back to the ghoul. "A bounty came down. A huge one. Enough to be a last score for me and whoever's with me. Yeah. Now, somebody made a run from the enclave." He said pulling out a sketch of the bounty and his furry friend.
"Now what makes you think I'd give a good goddamn about that?" The ghoul asked, obviously not interested in the bounty.
It ain't where he's running from I figured you'd be interested in." Honcho said confidently. "It's where he's running to. That witch Moldaver in California. That's where you from ain't it?" He smiled. "Originally I mean."
The ghoul stared him down for a moment. "Now, what the fuck would you know about where I'm from?"
I tried to swallow but my throat was so dry from fear that it was painful. I slowly took a step back from Honcho. I could feel that this was going to go bad quick.
"Well that don't sound like gratitude, do it, boys? Honcho responded with a sour tone in his voice. "How about we put you right back in that hole so Dom Pedro can have his fun with you for the next thirty years?"
The ghoul smirked as he looked between the 3 cowboys, amused with Honcho's confidence. "Well, I'll tell you what boys, whenever somebody says they're doing one last job, that usually means their heart's not in it. Probably never was." He said as he kneeled back down to the chicken. "But for me? Well, I do this shit for the love of the game."
It was barely a second before he had his lasso around Honcho, easily pulling him off his feet and throwing him across the graveyard. I stumbled behind him a couple of feet before the rope he was holding came loose and I fell to the ground. I stayed down and covered my head as I heard gunshots and the two boys falling to the ground. I slowly looked up at the ghoul who was staring down at me with a blank expression before turning his attention back to Honcho.
"You are right, friend, about one thing. This right here? Was your last job." The ghoul said while aiming his gun at the cowboy. "My paycheck wasn't quite what you expected, but, well you know what they say. Us cowpokes.."
"Wait! The girl! I brought her for you! Thought you might be hungry." Honcho mumbled around the rope in his mouth. I was barely able to understand him, but it looked like the ghoul did.
He stopped and turned around to look at me again. I stared back at him in horror, still on my stomach in the mud. "Well, that's no way to treat a lady." He smiled threateningly before turning back to his target, shooting the rope holding up his coffin, and watched as it dragged Honcho into the ground. "Us cowpokes, we take it as it comes." He finished.
Without a word he picked up his bag, threw it over his shoulder, and walked right past me.
I don't know what came over me at that moment, but I knew that I didn't want to be left alone. "Wait!" I said before I even knew what I was doing.
He stopped in his tracks but didn't turn around to look at me.
"I'll die out here on my own," I whispered. "I could lead you to the bounty. There is information that the idiots didn't share with you. I could help."
At this, he turned to look at me and crouched in front of my kneeling body. "I know exactly where I am going darlin'." He responded. "I don't need your help."
"But I do!" I said as I gave him the best puppy dog eyes I could muster as I held up my still-bound wrists.
He scoffed before looking up at the sky. "No." He said before getting up and walking away.

Growing Up in the Justice League HC
Purely self indulgence cause I've been on this and idk why so bear with me here
I can just easily romanticize growing up in the Justice League too easily and it would be a problem
Tumblr media
you're brought in at as a baby to be trained by Diana
Apollo brings you to her and tells her that you are an ancient being that regenerates as a new person when you die and this is the form that you have taken. As you get older, you will remember the skills and memories of your past lives but you will have to be raised with someone who can handle you
Diana just loves babies so she had no problem with that
I'd say the league has been established for some time during this point and everyone knows each other's identities in the core group
You grew up in Paris and New York being raised as a mama's child
Bruce is the closest you get to a dad and he does his best
SPOILS YOU ROTTEN
all the Barbies and Legos and whatever toys you'd want as a child
They know that you've been trained as an assassin, wizard, queen, knight, sorceress, scientist, all of these other things that can be traumatic so they just want you to have a great, decent childhood
when you start remember things they begin training you to be a hero
It's like PE and recess all in one since they're really just trying to figure out what you can do
Clark treats you like a fragile piece of glass up until you're a teen cause teenagers confuse him and he just cannot not see you as an innocent beep boppin child sometimes
Barry keeps up with the culture and knows all the songs from your favorite childhood movies and tv shows that you grew up watching on the massive computer in the watch tower when you were up there
will dance to any Barbie song since he knows them all by heart
Hal makes fun of you two but secretly enjoys the movies and is very emotionally invested in Princess and the Pauper and Diamond Castle
Diana and Bruce make sure that you have a great education and training
They are the mature parents of the group and want to make sure you're a functioning member of society
you've got a bag full of grandparents in the Kents, Allans, Princes, Alfred and they all love you to death
Alfred teaches you to make the best tea and gardening, Ma Kent teaches you to quilt and make bread, Pa Kent teaches you how to drive a tractor and farm, Hippolyta teaches you about the Greek gods and ancient cultures and how to ride horses, the Allans would have loads of board games to play and love having you over
Once Young Justice or Teen Titans comes around you don't join since you're officially a Justice League member and get along better with the adults since you were raised by them
That doesn't mean that you don't like or hang out with the kids, it's just that you have better inside jokes with Hal and Barry
When Superboy comes around and the League disappears, you were the only one not taken by the portal since you were helping out some civilians
You knew that Clark wasn't dead and you knew the League was somewhere
What kept you afloat was humor and Kon attached to that since he just needed someone that wasn't insane in his life
you probably won't develop romantic feelings for each other but it's more of a camaraderie since you were both raised in a really unorthodox way
when the league finally comes back, you say it's the happiest day of your life and rant to them that you were the only one who knew they weren't gone but no one understood it
Hal and Barry are known for having a thing for chicken tenders and make sure to instill an addiction in you for chicken tenders
Arthur (Aquaman) really really really likes them too but he doesn't realize it until he comes to the League
Clark would be the one to take you out for ice cream randomly or if you're having a bad day
the mother hen therapist type
You're America's favorite Justice Leaguer and often go viral for in uniform interactions with the League
Dancing with Flash at a Presidential ceremony because the music is too beep boopin good and you can't help but bop around a little bit
Media also loves you as a civilian and it's been suspected that you are the love child between Diana and Bruce since I mean- that would make the most sense
it's a running joke in the league

February, 2020
“Well, can I just say that we are just so incredibly thrilled that you two could finally come and join us for dinner this evening,” Frank beamed, grinning from ear to ear as he burst into the dining room with a bottle of his favorite red wine in one hand and a bottle opener in the other.
Bill snorted, stabbing his fork just a little too aggressively into his cut of chicken breast.
“Speak for yourself,” he grouched under his breath before taking a bite. Although he’d quit bringing his gun to the table, both you and Joel knew he had the pistol tucked somewhere nearby. You were willing to bet it was tucked into the waistband of his khaki trousers, but Joel would probably argue that it was in a less obvious place, like strapped to his ankle.
It really seemed as though Bill would never allow himself to get used to you, Tess, and he especially wouldn’t allow himself to get used to Joel. He knew it was the smart, logical choice, keeping you three around for the sake of trading supplies and resources when needed, but overall, it wasn't all that necessary. He and Frank had been doing just fine for years before you all had come into their lives after Frank had met Tess over the radio one afternoon. Or at least, that’s what he liked to believe despite the fact that during your very first lunch together, Joel had easily pointed out several flaws around the perimeter of their neighborhood—weak spots that could be vulnerable to raiders if they ever came along. You and Tess joked that Bill put Joel at the top of his shit list the moment he pointed out that their fence only had about a year left to hold strong. He’d been on it ever since.
Having you all around at this point was more for Frank’s benefit than anything. Bill would do just about anything to make Frank happy, and much to his chagrin, you, Tess, and even Joel, made him happy—having friends made him happy. Bill could do without socializing for the rest of his natural born life, but Frank, on the other hand, would lose his sanity.
“Oh, don’t mind him. He’s just been in a bad mood because we had a massive roof leak the other day after that huge thunderstorm," Frank explained, rolling his eyes. Being the attentive, gracious host that he always was, he quickly made his way around the dinner table, pouring everyone a generous glass of wine to enjoy with their meal. “He spent hours up on that roof trying to patch it up and then damn near broke his ankle coming down when he missed the last two steps on the ladder. Can you believe that?”
“Thought I noticed a limp,” Joel remarked with an amused smirk.
Frank nudged Joel in the shoulder as he poured his wine. “I had told him to wait for you, Joel, what with you having been in construction before and all. But Mister ‘I don’t need anyone’s help’ decided to do it himself even though he has never patched a roof before in his life.”
“Tell you what, next time we’re over for lunch, I’ll go up there and check it out. Make sure he did it right ‘cause I highly doubt he did.”
Bill glowered at him.
You roughly smacked the side of his thigh underneath the table.
Joel, please, You thought silently. We need to stay on his good side.
Frank chuckled as he fell into step beside your chair. “That would be very helpful if you did, actually. It would definitely give me a bit more peace of mind, especially since the rainiest season of the year is approaching fast.” He offered Bill an apologetic smile. “I’m sorry sweetheart, but we really should let an expert take a look at it, just to be on the safe side. Joel knows his stuff, after all.”
As he reached for your glass, you quickly placed your hand over the top of it and lightly shook your head. “Oh, none for me tonight, thank you,” You declined politely. The wine was normally your favorite part of any meal they hosted, seeing as Bill and Frank, who were both quite the wine enthusiasts, knew how to make the most heavenly of pairings. It really was a fucking shame that it would be at least a few more months before you could drink again. Lord only knew you could use the alcohol after all of the bullshit that had been going on lately with Joel. “May I have a glass of water instead, please?”
“What? You don’t want any wine?” Frank frowned and reached out with his free hand, pressing the back of it against your forehead. “Are you feeling sick or something? Should we be worried? Bill, where’s the reader—?”
You chuckled at his usual dramatic little antics. “No, I’m fine,” You assured him. “I’d just rather stick to water tonight if that’s okay.”
“That’s really fucking weird of you, but alright,” he sang over his shoulder as he disappeared into the kitchen. He returned a minute later with a tall glass of clean, filtered water in his hand and set it down on the table in front of you before taking his seat next to Bill. He picked up his red cloth napkin and draped it gingerly over his lap. “So, tell us again why Tess couldn’t make it tonight?”
“She, uh, she had a few things she needed to take care of back in the QZ,” Joel explained to him briefly before popping a piece of roasted rosemary potato into his mouth. The truth was that Tess had opted to stay behind and sit this one out, stating that the conversation that would eventually take place tonight would be between the four of you. She didn’t need to be there, nor be a part of it.
“Well that’s such a shame. I really miss her,” Frank lamented between bites of his garden salad. “It’s been a while since we’ve all gotten together for a meal. Hell, this is the first time we’ve seen you in what, a couple of months at least, right Bill?”
“Felt like a lot less than that. But sure, let’s call it a couple of months.” Bill eyed Joel suspiciously. “Sounded a bit urgent when you radioed in and let us know you had to come see us tonight, Joel. More so than usual. I’m guessing that you two must really need something from us.”
You and Joel exchanged a silent glance.
“Jesus Bill, can you please not be so rude to them for once?” Frank scolded, waving a hand dismissively at his partner. He smiled apologetically at you and Joel. “Again, please don’t mind him. It seems to me that we still have some work left to do with his manners.” He paused just long enough to take a delicate sip of his wine. He set his glass down, then picked up his fork and knife. “But, if you do happen to need anything, you know that we are more than happy to help you out as best as we can if we have the supplies and resources to spare.”
“Which we don’t,” Bill chimed in, earning himself a light smack to the shoulder.
Joel ignored him and instead focused his attention on Frank. He was the one to win over out of the two. “That’s awfully kind of you, Frank. You know that we always appreciate your warm hospitality,” he remarked, and although he was laying it on a little thick for the sake of getting into his good graces, there was an underlying sincerity in his tone. He actually happened to like Frank—it was hard for anyone not to like him. Joel lifted his glass of wine to him in a toast. “Of all the people we could’ve come across on the radio that day, we’re grateful that it was you.”
Frank touched a hand lightly to his chest. He then picked up his own glass, clinking the rim against Joel’s. “Well, cheers to that.”
“I think I’m gonna be sick,” Bill grumbled, shaking his head.
Joel nudged your leg under the table as if to let you know it was time.
On the way up to Lincoln, he had suggested Bill and Frank would be a lot more inclined to agree to yours and his pending request if it came from you. Joel could butter Frank up well enough, but Bill hated his fucking guts, and you probably had a better chance of winning the survivalist over than Joel did.
You cleared your throat lightly, garnering everyone’s attention. “I have some news to share. Well, actually, we have some news to share.”
Bill raised a thick, bushy eyebrow. “What kind of news?”
“News? Is everything okay?” Frank asked, suddenly worried. “Wait. Is it Tess? Is she alright? Did something happen?”
“No, it isn’t anything like that at all. Tess is perfectly fine,” You quickly reassured him, causing him to sink back against his chair in relief. You held your breath for a moment before exhaling it softly through your mouth and announcing, “I’m, um—I’m pregnant.”
Bill nearly choked on his chicken and Frank gasped, both hands flying to his mouth in complete shock. The seconds passed in silence, and the room had gone so quiet that one could have heard a fucking pin drop on the floor. You felt the heat flood to your face and nervously shoved a forkful of baked chicken into your mouth, deciding it would be best to just give them a bit of time to process the news before moving onto phase two. However, Joel wasn’t there to waste any time and decided to step in.
“Listen, I know that this is probably a lot to take in, but we didn’t exactly come over here to share that with you just for shits and giggles. As much as it pains me to say it, Bill is right,” he admitted reluctantly. That was one phrase Joel Miller could do without saying ever again. “Truth is, we do need somethin’ from you two. We’ve got a favor to ask you both, a big one at that.”
That had been enough to slap Bill back into reality.
“Oh no, stop right there! I can see where this is going from a fucking mile away!” He jumped up from his chair, furiously shaking his head as he wagged his index finger at you and Joel. “Listen here, we have been as generous as we can possibly be with the two of you, and with Tess—but there’s got to be a line drawn somewhere and this is it! There is no fucking way in hell that we’re taking you into our home, into our neighborhood! This place belongs to us, we built it, we secured it! We worked our goddamn asses off for all that we have and just because she’s pregnant does not mean we will allow you to—”
“That’s not it.” Though your voice was smaller, softer, it managed to get through to Bill over his angry ranting. “That’s not it at all, Bill. We’re not trying to move here or invade your space like that, I swear it.”
His hand dropped down to his side. “Really?”
“No. Of course not. We know you have boundaries, and so does Frank. And whether you choose to believe it or not, we do our best to respect them as much as we possibly can.”
“Oh.” Bill slowly sank back down to his chair, looking relieved. “Then what is it that you two want? You need baby clothes or baby blankets from the boutique or something?”
“Not exactly,” You mumbled. You took a quick minute to think it over in your head, wondering if there was any correct or tactful way to ask what you were about to ask of them—there wasn’t. It didn’t matter if you spun it a million different ways, Bill was still going to blow a fuse again no matter what. “We wanted to ask you and Frank if you would be willing to take the baby into your care once it’s born.”
And just like that, Bill’s temporary relief vanished.  “I beg your fucking pardon?”
You turned to Joel, saying tightly through your teeth, “A little fucking help here, please?”
“Look. Boston ain’t no fuckin’ place for a child,” Joel started, lifting his hand in an attempt to keep Bill calm this time. “Too much shit’s been goin’ on there lately. Violence has escalated, supplies are gettin’ harder to get and costin’ us more than ever before. So we want to know if you and Frank are willing to take the baby after it’s born. It would be better off here with you two than with us in the QZ.”
Bill didn’t need to think twice about it. He answered Joel with a stern, “Absolutely not.”
Joel let out an irritated sigh and dropped his fork. The utensil clanked loudly against the white porcelain plate. He dropped his face into his hands, rubbing it harshly. “Fuckin’ knew he wasn’t gonna make this easy for us.”
You chewed anxiously on your bottom lip, an overwhelming feeling suddenly washing over your entire body from head to toe. It was strange to feel this way, considering the fact Bill and Frank’s place had always been something of a temporary escape for you. Their neighborhood, their home, it usually brought you a sense of peace and tranquility—you felt comfortable whenever you were here. But between Bill’s angry outburst, his instant decline to your request, and Frank’s wide, shocked eyes still fixed intently on you, you suddenly found yourself wishing you were anywhere but in Lincoln.
“You’re pregnant?” Frank’s incredulous voice broke the silence that had fallen over the dinner table. Part of you wondered how much of the conversation he had even heard or if it had just gone in through one ear and out the other. “You’re really pregnant?”
“Frank,” Bill said his name warningly. “Don’t even think about it.”
Frank ignored him, his attention still on you. “How far along are you?”
You glanced at Joel before turning back to him. “It’s just an estimate, but we’re thinking at this point that I might be about four and a half months, maybe almost five?” You replied with a small shrug of your shoulders. “We aren’t too sure, though.”
“And it’s yours?” Bill questioned, eyeing Joel in disbelief.
Joel glared at him, his aggravated silence speaking for him.
“Oh, Bill.” Frank suddenly turned to him with a hopeful expression. “A baby!”
There had been a couple of different occasions where, while sitting outside on the front lawn enjoying a glass of iced tea in the sunshine, Frank had confessed to both you and Tess of his desire to have a family one day. He acknowledged the chances of that ever happening were virtually impossible, but he admitted that it was something he had been dreaming of since meeting Bill. He wanted to be a father. He wanted a child, and here you were, with one that you couldn’t keep.
“Frank. No.” Bill stared at him, unable to fathom how he could even think that taking in a child could possibly be a good idea. “I’m sorry. You know I try to give you everything that you ask for, but I have to put my foot down this time. I have enough trouble keeping you safe as it is! We’ve had raiders come and try knocking at our door before—”
“And you’ve fought them off,” Joel reminded him. “Successfully.”
“Not to mention, think of all the things we would have to do in order to raise a kid, all the supplies and resources we would use up in just the first year alone—”
“Bill, we know this is a lot to ask of you, of both of you,” You somehow managed to chime in. “We know that a favor like this is one we would never be able to repay you for, not in this lifetime. But it’s this child’s only shot. What kind of life would it have where we live? What kind of future would it have in the QZ?”
“Hm. Sounds like not our fucking problem,” Bill quipped. “Sorry.”
Frank’s eyes left his partner’s and met yours across the table before they fell down to your midsection. “You said you’re about four and a half months?”
You gave him a small nod.
Bill might not have been on board, but you still had Frank.
He was your only hope.
“Yes, but again, it’s an guess. We don’t want anyone else in the QZ knowing that I’m pregnant, so I haven’t been to see a doctor. But we think it’s a pretty close guess.” Suddenly, an idea came to mind. You hesitated, at first, but knew it was your best shot at finishing the job and reeling Frank in. You slowly stood up from the table and with trembling fingers, you started to unbutton the flannel jacket you were wearing—Joel’s flannel jacket—and showed him the swollen belly you had been hiding underneath it. It was on the smaller side, but still quite prominent underneath a snug-fitting, cotton blue tank top.
“Oh!” Frank breathed out in surprise. He rose to his feet, rushing over and around to your side of the table. He excitedly lifted his hands, but then stopped himself, glancing at you for permission first. “Would it be alright if—?”
“Of course, go right ahead,” You encouraged with a tiny smile as you continued holding the jacket open for him.
Frank sank to his knees in front of you. He lightly cradled the small bump in between his palms, looking up at you with a look of absolute wonder on his face.
It felt bizarre, not only showing your midsection to someone else, but having another set of hands besides your own on it felt foreign as well.
As soon as you’d started showing, Joel had refused to go near you—the way he tried painfully to ignore it caused you to keep it hidden away underneath oversized clothes, even in the privacy of your own quarters.
During the first few weeks of your pregnancy, he’d been just fine. Well, as fine as he could be. But once your belly had popped, it was as if it had all suddenly sunk in and really clicked for Joel—this was one hundred percent fucking real now and that was his baby growing inside of you. Since that moment, he hadn’t quite been himself, at least not with you.
Joel still looked out for you, of course. He didn’t dote sweetly on you and shower you with affection, but he did take responsibility in the ways that mattered. He made sure that you were taking the prenatal vitamins Tess had found for you, he made sure that you were eating enough, and if he ever noticed that you were still hungry, he would shovel his own portion onto your plate without asking and head off to sleep on an empty stomach. He helped you out whenever you were assigned to the same work detail, taking on an extra load of work on top of his own if it meant sparing you from even the slightest risk of straining yourself or over exerting your body.
Sure, he still cared for you. He wouldn’t do any of that if he didn’t.
But that didn’t mean things between you hadn’t changed.
They had.
Drastically.
Joel kept his distance from you, physically. He hadn’t fucked you, kissed you, or so much as even touched you in the last couple of months. He’d even started sleeping on the couch, leaving you to sleep alone in your once shared bed. Whenever he spoke to you, he stood at least a few feet away, and his eyes always remained trained on your face—he took especially great care to not look at your growing stomach. You could briefly recall one morning when you’d squeezed past him in the kitchen to grab a mug from the sink while he’d been making his morning coffee; when your belly accidentally brushed against his hand, he had cringed, snatching it away from you as if he’d touched something unpleasant. Deep down, you knew this was his own twisted, fucked up way of coping with how he was feeling, but it still didn’t stop you from wishing that he’d quit acting as if you and the baby were the fucking plague.
As much as you tried to deny it, the way Joel had been treating you lately hurt you. It cut you deep, down to your very core. You put on a good front for him and Tess, though, acting as if none of it bothered you. But the tears that you shed on the nights they left you alone to go out on their runs were endless.
“Oh Bill,” Frank glanced pleadingly over his shoulder at his partner, his hands still on your stomach. “Please.”
“Frank—”
“Please.”
Bill couldn’t refuse Frank a majority of the time. But this was bigger than anything he’d ever asked of him and it was going to take more than his usual amount of convincing to get him to agree.
Bill scoffed, narrowing his eyes at you. “Let me guess. You want us to take this baby in and you want us to clothe it, feed it, and protect it. You want us to do the real work of raising it, using up our supplies and resources. And then what? You two come along to play mommy and daddy whenever you fucking feel like it?”
You shuffled from foot to foot, wincing slightly at his harshness. “No, of course not.”
Joel wasn’t all too fond of Bill’s tone towards you. He leaned forward, throwing him a warning glare across the table. “She’d like to visit,” he informed him, keeping his temper under control. He knew better than to go off on Bill, not when you were still trying to convince him to do you both the favor of a fucking lifetime. “Every now and again, just to see the kid. But we think it’s best if we do a closed adoption, if you wanna call it that. You and Frank are the parents, and we’re just a couple of friends who come by and visit daddy and daddy every now and again for lunch.”
“Right, and you really want me to believe that there’s no chance she’s going to be attached to this baby after carrying it for nine months?” Although Bill was facing and speaking directly to Joel, it was obvious he was indirectly grilling you. And here Joel thought the man might have had something of a soft spot for you. “Think about it, Joel. You don’t think one day she might waltz in here and decide she wants to take it back? Break Frank’s heart when he has to give up a child he’s going to undoubtedly fall in love with?”
Anger simmered underneath your skin, bubbling in your veins at the insinuation that you could ever do something to hurt Frank. “First of all, stop talking about me like I’m not in the fucking room, alright? I’m standing right here, so fucking look me in the face if you’re going to talk about me.” You seethed. Frank stood up and placed his hand on your shoulder in an effort to calm you, but it was too late. “This isn’t a fucking game, Bill. This isn’t a decision that we made on a whim or that we’re taking lightly. Me and Joel are just trying to do right by this child. If you and Frank agree to take it in as your own, it’s all yours. I’m not going to take it back,” You practically spat. “Once it’s done, it’s fucking done.”
“Alright, alright. I’m going to need you to just take a deep breath and relax before you bring on early labor in the middle of my dining room.” Frank gently guided you until you were sitting back in one of the chairs and handed you your untouched glass of water. He waited patiently as you took a few sips and then took the glass from your hand, setting it back down on the table. “Listen, before we decide anything, I just have to ask—is this really what you want to do? This is a decision that you made, right? No one is making you do this?” He noticed Joel raise his eyebrows at what he was suggesting, and before he could chime in, Frank quickly added, “I just need to hear it from her, Joel.”
“This is what’s best,” You answered honestly, feeling a dull ache in your heart that had become all too familiar. “I have spent so many long nights lying in bed just thinking this over. We don’t have any other choice, not if we want it to have a chance at a decent life. That is what I want, Frank. For it to have a chance at a decent life.”
“This child is gonna grow up and want to know who its parents are,” Bill pointed out. “Thought about that at all?”
“Use your imagination,” Joel remarked before taking a quick sip of wine. “Make somethin’ up. Lie. Tell it you found it in a basket floating down the fuckin’ river. Whatever it takes. We don’t ever want the kid to know it’s us.”
“Going to be kind of hard if it comes out looking like your clone.” Bill gestured to you with a nod of his head. “Or hers.”
“It’ll be a long, long time before this child is even old enough to notice things like who he or she looks like,” You released a little scoff, tired of him using any reason he could think of to stand against it. “Bill, please. Can’t you at least think about it for the next few weeks and at least consider it?”
“No.”
Your face fell.
Motherfucker really wasn’t going to budge.
“Well now, wait just a second.” Frank walked over to him and put his hands on his burly shoulders. “Bill, think about it. This is our chance.” He squeezed his shoulders. “To have a family. A real family.”
“Family? It’s not our fucking kid—it’s not a part of me or you.”
“But we’ll love it like it is! Blood isn’t what makes a family. Love is,” he reminded him softly.
You swallowed back the lump that had risen in your throat.
Bill might have been a stubborn jackass, but you knew that Frank would show him how to be a good father. He had already shown him how to be an amazing, loving partner.
“So?” Joel prompted. He crossed his arms over his chest, leaning back into his chair.
Bill scowled at him. He said nothing as he reached for his glass of wine, chugging every last drop in one long gulp before he stood up and stalked out of the dining room.
Frank had his answer.
And so did you and Joel.
Tumblr media
As the next several weeks turned into months, pregnancy—and your ever ongoing attempts at hiding it from everyone in the Boston QZ—had really started to take its toll on you, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Joel had given you all but his entire wardrobe, helping to keep your condition hidden as well as possible, but it was taking a hell of a lot more than just his jackets and shirts to keep it a secret. When you entered your third trimester, you were starting to struggle immensely with work detail, finding it more and more difficult to keep up with what authorities expected of you. Everything ached—your feet, your back, and even the hairs on your fucking head were hurting, and yet you were forced to carry on with your daily duties as best you could to avoid raising any suspicions.
“Frank said it might be best if you gave birth at their place,” Joel commented over dinner one night. Tess was out doing a solo run, and it had just been the two of you for the last couple of days. Lately, you almost wished she would stop leaving you alone with Joel. Ever since that night at Bill and Frank’s, he had been acting a lot colder towards you, more than ever before. He could hardly look at you most days. Before, he could at least stand to look at your face. Now, there wasn’t a single part of you that his eyes could meet. “As soon as you start feelin’ off, we’re gonna need to get you over to them. Frank talked Bill into lettin’ you stay for a few days if it comes down to it and you need some time to heal.”
You simply nodded, your gaze fixed on the torn paper napkin in front of you. “Okay.”
He bit into his piece of jerky, his eyes also glued to the table. Out of his peripheral vision, he could see that you’d finished your portion already. He reached out, dropping his piece in front of you onto your napkin. “Need to eat more,” he grumbled. He picked up his glass of whiskey, polishing it off before pouring himself another.
You couldn’t stand it.
You couldn’t fucking take it anymore.
“Joel.” You said his name in a smaller voice than what you had been aiming for. “Can we talk?”
He racked his brain for the first bullshit excuse he could think of. “It can wait. S’real late and we need to get to bed soon. We got early work orders tomorrow.”
“No, Joel, actually, it can’t fucking wait.” Your heart was pounding at a rate that felt far too fast for your body and you tried to remind yourself to remain calm. You knew you needed to keep your emotions in check, or else your distress could cause distress to the baby. “We need to talk. Now.”
Joel drew an impatient breath. “Talk ‘bout what, exactly?”
“About how you’ve been acting over the last few months.” Your voice trembled and you almost kicked yourself for it. The last thing that you needed to do was fucking crumble. “And about the way you’ve been treating me, too. You’ve been keeping your distance from me, acting like I’m some kind of—I’ve seen you cringe a lot less when dumping the infected bodies into the fire pits, let’s just put it that way.”
“Those pregnancy hormones,” he released a short, bitter laugh. “Got you bein’ all dramatic.”
“I am not being dramatic.” Your hands curled into tiny fists. “You won’t talk to me. You won’t touch me. You won’t even fucking look at me anymore! I’m sick of it, Joel.”
“It’s nothin’,” he replied dismissively, shrugging his shoulders. He looked down into his whiskey, feigning a sudden interest in the rich amber hues in his glass.
“Nothing?” You repeated, flabbergasted. “Then why haven’t you slept in our bed with me? Hm? Oh that’s right, because you can’t fucking stand to be that close to me! You’d rather break your back on that old fucking couch rather than sleep next to me.”
Joel’s jaw clenched, his grip around his glass tightening. “Listen, I ain’t doin’ this right now, alright?”
“Joel.” You hesitated. If you crossed this line and pushed one too many of his buttons, there was no fucking going back. “I know that you’re afraid, okay?”
“I ain’t afraid,” he countered through gritted teeth. Finally, he brought himself to look up at you, his eyes meeting yours—that same emotion that he’d just denied was right there behind them as clear as the fucking stars in the sky outside. Joel wasn’t made of stone. He wasn’t any kind of special exception to having normal human feelings. He hid everything pretty well, and because you cared about him, you were willing to put up with his asshole façade because he needed you as much as you needed him. Still, even after years of trying to take the wall he’d built down brick by brick with your bare hands, you hadn’t gotten very far and you wished the man would help you out every now and again and throw you a fucking hammer. “Ain’t no reason for me to be afraid. I ain’t the one who’s fuckin’ pregnant.”
“It’s yours too! This is your baby too, Joel. Your child. It is part of you, just as much as it is a part of me. And ever since day fucking one, you have been scared shitless of it,” You confronted him, another trembling edge coming to your voice. “And I know why, okay? I know that what happened to Sarah—”
Joel froze, going rigid in his seat. His free hand had curled into a fist, his tight knuckles turning ghost white.
It was something of an unspoken rule.
Nobody talked about Sarah.
Hell, the only reason you even knew about his daughter was because you’d accidentally stumbled upon an old polaroid of her while washing his jeans in the kitchen sink one morning. You had found it in one of the back pockets while cleaning them out, the photograph heavily creased as if he spent ample amounts of time folding it open and then folding it closed again. Sarah’s name had been scribbled on the back of the polaroid. Her smile, her nose, it was all Joel, and it had taken you less than sixty seconds to realize the young teenaged girl posing goofily in the picture had been his daughter.
When you’d handed the picture to him while his jeans dried, it was like a silent bomb had detonated. Although it’d been a mere accident on your part, Joel had been so incredibly angry with you, as if you had gone snooping through his past life on purpose. For weeks, he hadn’t said a single word to you unless it had something to do with work or a run.
He’d lost her. He hadn’t told you that, but you’d guessed it.
Whether it was to infection or something else, you didn’t know. And you knew better than to ask him. All you knew was that losing her had done something irreparable to Joel Miller. Whoever he’d been before losing his daughter was dead too.
“Don’t,” he warned, his voice strained. “Don’t you fucking dare.”
“Joel, please,” You whispered. “Whatever happened to her, you can’t possibly keep it to yourself for the rest of your life. You can talk to me about Sarah—”
Joel slammed his curled fist down onto the table, startling you. He then turned in his chair and flung his glass at the wall behind him, the sound of it shattering into hundreds of pieces echoing throughout the small apartment. Jumping to his feet, he pointed a threatening finger in your face. “Don’t you ever utter her fuckin’ name ever again! You understand me?”
“But Joel—”
“Do you fuckin’ understand me?”
“I understand.” You hardly recognized the squeak that left your lips.
“Go to bed. Now,” he ordered, whirling around on his heel. “It’s fuckin’ late.”
Without another word, Joel stalked over towards the couch and dropped onto it, rolling over onto his side so his back was to you.
You pulled the neckline of his shirt that you wore over your mouth and pressed your palm against it in an effort to muffle a sob.
A few hours later into the middle of the night, Joel had awakened and stood up from the couch only to find you sitting there in the exact same spot where he’d left you at the table. Though it was dark in the apartment, the moonlight that shone through the torn curtains over the window illuminated your face and he could see you hadn’t stopped crying since he’d fallen asleep.
“Y’need to go lay down,” he told you quietly.
You knew this tactic all too well.
His way of apologizing for losing his shit on you without actually apologizing.
“I’m fucking fine right where I am,” You snapped stubbornly in response, quickly dabbing at your damp eyes with the back of your hand. That was a downright lie. Your lower back was on fire from having sat in the chair for so long.
Joel sighed, hanging his head. He knew he’d fucked up. He’d been fucking up for the last several months. He pulled a chair around in front of yours and sat down, his knee touching yours lightly. That alone was enough to send a chill throughout your body. “Sittin’ in that chair for too long ain’t good for your back,” he stated. He waited to see if you would speak and when you didn’t reply a couple minutes later, he sighed again. “Look, I’m real sorry about earlier, alright? Hell, I’m sorry for everythin’. You were right, I’ve been treatin’ you like shit and you definitely don’t deserve it.”
Stunned, you looked up at him.
“I was angry, but I shouldn’t have lashed out on you the way that I did. Much less while you’re in this condition.” He paused, reaching up to rub his face tiredly with one of his hands. He then let it fall back down to his thigh with a loud slapping sound. “It’s a sore spot for me, alright? Always has been and always will be. Nothin’ or no one is goin’ to change that, not ever. Not even you,” he admitted, shoulders sagging as if the realization had just come to him. “You know you mean somethin’ special to me. You know I care about you, and you know you’re what has kept me goin’ these last few years. I’d do just about anythin’ for you. But I need you to respect that I don’t wanna talk about her and I don’t want you bringin’ her up. She is from my past and that is where I need to leave her.”
“But why?” You frowned, wiping a stray tear that had fallen away from your cheek. “That’s not fair to you or to her. She doesn’t deserve to be forgotten about.”
“That what you think it is? That I’m tryin’ to forget about her? Impossible. Not a single day goes by that I don’t think of her.”
You placed your hands down onto your lap and started wringing them together anxiously. “It’s not that I think you’re trying to forget about her, Joel. But you refusing to talk about her, it’s erasing her memory, whether you think of it that way or not.” Noticing him wince at your words, you wanted nothing more than to reach out and touch him—stroke his cheek, hold his hand. But you were finally getting somewhere and you knew better than to move too fast, so you willed yourself to keep your hands to yourself. “And besides that, you aren’t doing yourself any favors by keeping her story a secret. You’ve been carrying the weight of whatever happened to her on your shoulders for what, almost two decades now?”
“It’s my burden to carry, alright?”
“You shouldn’t have to carry it alone.” Your expression softened. It dawned on you. You’d thought you knew how much pain Joel had been in for all these years, but the honest truth was that you didn’t have the slightest clue. You didn’t know how bad he was actually hurting—and that killed you inside. “You need to talk about it, Joel. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow. But someday.”
“No. I can’t—”
“Don’t you trust me?”
Joel almost seemed offended that you’d even ask such a thing. “Of course I fuckin’ trust you.”
“Then why won’t you let me in, Joel?” A fresh batch of tears brimmed your eyes, and you blinked them back furiously before they could fall. “After everything that we’ve been through together. I’m carrying your fucking child for god’s sake.”
He didn’t answer. Tearing his gaze away from you, he looked straight ahead at the wall in front of him.
“Joel.”
Silence.
“Joel. Come on. Can you just fucking look at me, please?”
Nothing.
You let out a long, sad sigh of defeat. So much for getting somewhere. “Alright. Fine.” You placed a hand on your stomach and stood up from your chair. “I’m heading to bed. See you in the morning.”
As you padded over towards your mattress, Joel’s voice stopped you dead in your tracks. “Sarah was my daughter.”
Slowly, you turned around, your lips parted slightly.
“Pretty sure you knew that already though,” he chuckled in spite of himself. “She was fourteen years old. Her mom walked out on us when she was just a baby. I spent her entire life raising her by myself. Tommy, well, he was around too, but he was more of a bad influence than anythin’ and sometimes it felt like I was lookin’ after two kids instead of one.”
You walked back over to him, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder.
Joel reached up and took your hips in his hands, carefully pulling you down to sit on his lap.
“No Joel, I’m way too heavy.” Embarrassed, you quickly tried standing up.
“You think you’re heavy?” He snorted lightly, holding you firmly in place. “If anythin’, you could stand to have a bit more meat on your bones bein’ almost nine months pregnant and all.”
“Blame my nutritious, nourishing diet of jerky and stale crackers.” The sarcasm dripped from your tone.
He let out something in between a snort and a laugh.
You couldn’t help but smile a little and draped an arm around his shoulders.
How you’d missed this. Missed him.
You leaned into him, resting your head in the crook of his neck. For the next several minutes, Joel just held you.
Just when you were beginning to wonder how long the silence would last, he broke it.
“I’m not ready to talk ‘bout what happened to her,” he explained, quietly. “Might not be ready for a long, long time. Not sure if I’ll ever be ready, if you want the honest truth. Sarah, she was my sweet little butterfly. The absolute love of my fuckin’ life. Losin’ her was the worst fuckin’ thing that has ever happened to me. It’s a wound that’s still raw as hell, even after all these years. Might even be one of those wounds that just never heals, you know?”
You lifted your head from his shoulder, your hand going to his hair. You ran your fingers through it, amazed how even after going days without a wash, it always stayed so soft. “I know you don’t want me to say that I’m sorry—”
“I really fuckin’ don’t,” Joel confirmed with a shake of his head. “Won’t change shit. Won’t bring her back. Sure as hell won’t make me feel any better.”
“Then I won’t say it.” You brought your hand back down to your lap and leaned forward. You pressed your lips against his forehead, letting them linger. He stiffened, and you could feel him restraining himself from completely melting into your touch. You knew things would take a little time and you were willing to be as patient as you needed to be for him.
“Losin’ another child—” Joel trailed off, voice hoarse. “I just—I can’t.”
“I know,” You soothed him. “Which is why we’re doing the right thing and letting Bill and Frank take him.”
“Him?”
You offered him a small, tired smile. It really was getting late now and the exhaustion was creeping in. “I haven’t had the chance to tell you. But I think it’s a boy.”
“And how the hell could you possibly fuckin’ know that?”
You shrugged. “Just a gut feeling. Tess thinks it’s a boy too. She says with the way I’m carrying, it must be—” You stopped, doubling over in pain. “Fuck. Ouch.”
Alarmed, Joel’s hand found the small of your back, the other was in front of you, making sure you didn’t fall over off of his lap. “What? What is it?”
“The baby just kicked me.” You grimaced, leaning back into a sitting position. “Right in damn the ribs too. And there goes another one.” You exhaled sharply, the discomfort radiating throughout your body. “Jesus. He must take after you with all the violence.”
Joel seemed a bit stunned. “This the first time it’s ever kicked?”
“No. He’s done it a few times before. But never this much in one sitting. Or this hard.” You winced. “He’s really fighting in there.”
Joel just stared at you, something that looked a bit like awe in his eyes.
Through the slight pain, you raised an eyebrow at him. “Do you want to feel him?”
“Oh I don’t think, uh, I don’t think I should—”
“It’s not going to fucking kill you, Joel.”
He hesitantly lifted his hand. “Where—where do I put it?”
“Here.” You took his hand in both of yours and placed it on the side of your round midsection. “Just give it a second. You’ll feel it right here.”
You watched his face carefully. He jumped slightly once he’d felt the fluttering motion against the palm of his hand, his dark eyes going wide.
Even before the outbreak, Joel never thought he’d feel something like that again in his life.
“He’s strong,” he murmured. “Real strong.”
“I know. Wonder where he got that from,” You joked lightly.
Moving his hand away, Joel placed it on your thighs and awkwardly cleared his throat. “It’s, uh, it’s pretty late. You really do need to get some sleep.”
“Okay. But on one condition.”
“What condition?”
“Will you come to bed with me?”
“‘Course.” He stood up, letting out a small, labored grunt as he lifted you up into his arms.
“I told you I’m heavy,” You reminded him with a laugh. “Joel, put me down. This cannot possibly be good for your back.”
“Oh, shut up.” Joel walked over, gingerly placing you down onto the mattress. He waited for you to get comfortable before climbing in behind you, pulling a wool blanket over both of your bodies. He pulled your back against his chest and draped his arm around you, his hand subconsciously—instinctively—resting on your stomach. His lips found the delicate spot behind your ear and he pressed his lips gently against it, sending a small shiver up your spine.
“Joel?”
“Hm?” He mumbled into your ear. He was already falling asleep.
They were right there, right on the tip of your tongue, those three words that you had been aching to say to him for years.
I love you.
“Nevermind.” You sighed softly. “Goodnight.”
“Mm, g’night,” he murmured, nuzzling his nose into your neck before allowing his sleep to consume him.

✰ req: So, reader and miles are at the arcade, and reader is basically just trying to explain how if they keep playing crossy road, they'll be getting way more tickets (yk like those infinite tickets hack stuff lol). during reader's explanation miles is just zoning out fsr, but that doesnt last long because when reader wants to play another round of crossy road they reach into miles pocket, not noticing the look/stare that miles gives them, and obvi miles has to say sumn about what reader did (whether reader did it on purpose to yk, or not is up to you author🫣).  Thank you for your time love‼️ @mothmorales

e42 miles and you walked around the arcade a little more and found yourselves at crossy road. to which he challenged you to beat his high score. "cause i'm that nigga, ma." he says. well, you easily beat his score which left his dumbfounded.
"you my nigga but ion know about that nigga." "aight, chill. shit was by chance too."
on your way here, you eyed a certain prize at the place where you count your tickets and you wanted. bad. so you started explaining how this game is basically farm for tickets. one game and you could be up a few hundred.
✩ miles was out of it, though he was pretty hungry not to mention also lost in his girlfriend's voice. he just agreed with everything she said, isn't too out of the ordinary by the way.
✩ you bit your cheek and frowned a little when you realized he wasn't listening so, you just stole his card out of his pocket and continued on with your ticket grind. that's when he came back to his senses.
he lightly grabbed your waist at where your dips lay, and leaned over to where his head was on your shoulder. you were used to these surprise actions of his, but they still caught you by surprise sometimes.
he kissed your cheek as your eyes still focused on getting the chicken across the road. but your mind was running wild. "yeah, i love you 'n all, but don't do that shit. i wanna play some games too."
"but i want that prize so badly, baby." "then ask me to refill your card, don't take mine. you ain't slick." "sometimes i am." "emphasis on 'sometimes'."

pairing: y/n and chris sturniolo
summary: you and chris came from two different sides of the spectrum when it came to the social scale. You had the perfect life, the perfect boyfriend, the perfect parents, but when you start to peal back that layers things got messy. Your life was set and stone, your future was set and stone. That was until he comes and changes everything.
warnings: smutttt, male!receiving, fighting with parents
"I think i'm gonna break up with Max"
Silence.
I know how to shut my parents up fast. Both their eyes drifted up to mine as their forks stilled against their plates. I kept eating, stabbing another piece of chicken on my plate. I glanced up at them as I placed the fork in between my teeth, chewing slowly.
First family dinner, I think ever. It was weird, awkward. I was pissed because I was suppose to meet Chris an hour ago, but my mother insisted on a family dinner that has never happened once.
So as uncomfortable it made me, I wanted to make it worse for them. So I didn't have to do this ever again.
"What?" My father's voice broke looking at me. I glanced over at my mother who was staring daggers at me. I shrugged and looked down at my plate, continuing on my plate.
"Y/n" My mother snapped making me look up at her. I blinked up at her. She clenched her jaw and shook her head. I sighed and looked down. "Why do you say that?" My dad said clearly trying not to let his temper break as he looked down at his plate.
"I just don't....." I bit my lip. "I don't think he's the person I thought he was" I mumbled feeling a pit forming in my stomach. Silence was in the room other than my fork scraping the plate placed in front of me.
My father smacked his lips and sighed. "I think he's a nice boy y/n" He stated. I looked up at him. You barely know him, I wanted to say. I didn't respond and looked down.
I'm not one to stand up to my parents, one of my least favorite things actually. Standing up for myself, something i've never even thought about doing before I met Chris.
Chris changed everything for me.
I was falling in love with him and I didn't know if it was a good thing or bad thing, but for the first time in my life: I didn't care.
I didn't care what my parents thought.
I didn't care was Sydney thought.
I didn't care what Max thought.
I only care what I thought. How I felt. For the first time in my life, i'm putting myself first. And it felt fucking good.
"Don't go around spewing nonsense Y/n" My mother mumbled shaking her head. I looked up at her, meeting her eyes.
"Let me rephrase" I cleared my throat as I looked at her from across the table. "Since I don't want to confuse you with my nonsense" I said repositioning the napkin across my lap and then looking back up at her.
"I'm breaking up with Max" I stated blankly. She stared back at me. I saw my father's eyes burning into my head. "Did something happen? Why are you acting this way?" My father said looking at me. I broke my mother's gaze and looked at my dad.
"I just don't think he's...." I said softly, looking at my dad. "I'm not sure he's a good person" I whispered softly. My father studied my eyes.
I could see it in his eyes. He was watching his business fall in the hands of me. Obviously he didn't want to openly force me to be with him, much like my mother would or will, but he saw Max as more of a business opportunity, and Max ate that up.
The thing about bad people is that most of them don't want to admit to being a bad person, they might manipulate you into doing what they want, but when it becomes too obvious, they stray away.
All because they want to pretend they are good. Whether that's a being a good person, good at their jobs, good at parenting, it doesn't matter.
They all fall in the same pattern.
It's something that my mother never understood because I believe that my mother wasn't always a bad person, so she doesn't understand how the master manipulation works. My father does.
So he wouldn't tell me I couldn't break up with him.
He would just resent me until I gave in, little did he know that this time, it wasn't going to work.
He cleared his throat. "I would be disapointed if you did. He's from a good family, I just don't see a vaild reason for anything you're saying" He said shaking his head and looking down at his plate. I looked over at my mother and she shook her head mouthing to me "Stop".
I took in a breath and looked down seeing my appetite dwindle.
"I just feel like it would be best for me, for my mental state" I said softly. My mother scoffed. "Clara." My father said looking up at her. Her eyes shifted to him, they had a stare down.
"I just think it's selfish, do you not Scott?" My mother said looking at him. I looked between them. "This decison doesn't just effect you, it effects me, your father, his business, our future Y/n--"
"That's enough" My father stated loudly. She glance to him before looking down at the plate in front of her.
I let out a breath, not meaning to start something like this. I just wanted to say I was gonna do it before I did it because I didn't want them to be completely blindsided.
My father took in a breath looking back over at me. I felt chills crawl up my neck. "It's your decision Y/n" He said glancing over my face. "I just can't say that your mother or I will stand behind it" He said looking down, flexing his jaw.
The silence came back at the sound of forks on a dinner plate filled my ears. I just blinked at my dad, biting my lip. "What does that mean?" I asked blinking at him. He didn't say anything, just continuing looking at his plate.
My heart started to beat as I clenched my fists. I looked between them neither of their eyes looking up at me. I swallowed feeling tears come to my eyes as I looked down at my plate.
"Like what?" I snapped. "Does that mean you'll resent me more than you already do?" I snapped. My mother's eyes came up to me, my father's stayed down. I stared her down as my eyes watered.
"You'll be more disappointed in me than you already are?" I said loudly. "Y/n" My mother titled her head. "No! Why are we doing this stupid family dinner? You wanna act like a family now?" I snapped.
"Y/n" My father's voice said. I looked over at him.
"Because you've resented me since the damn day when the nurse said "Here's your baby girl"”I yelled looking at my mom.
"Enough!" My dad's voice boomed, almost shaking the table. I froze as I looked over at him, his eyes on mine. My hands were shaking pressed against the table.
"You do not raise your voice when speaking to your mother and you do not raise your voice speaking to me." He snapped looking at me. I swallowed feeling my body shake in the chair.
I licked my lips and looked down at the table, feeling a tear drop down my nose. I took in a breath before scooting my chair back, it being the only noise in the loud empty dinning room. I threw my napkin on my plate as my heels clicked as I exited the room, shaking my head, wiping the tears falling off my nose.
-
I jumped down my tree as I walked towards the gate, my hoodie over my head and my tennis shoes tied on my feet as I headed towards the gate, pushing it open.
I turned clicking the gate closed before turning down the driveway. I lifted my head pausing when I saw Sydney staring back at me. We both froze looking at each other.
She stared at me like she's seen a ghost. I just stared at her before shifting on my feet, shoving my hands into the pockets of my sweatshirt.
The last person I really wanted to see right now was her.
"Hey" She breathed looking at me. "What are you doing here Sydney?" I asked quietly looking down at my feet. She cleared her throat as she looked down, grabbing her arms pulling them around her.
"I just--" She mumbled shaking her head. I looked up at her. She paused looking at me. Her eyes glanced over my outfit.
I realized in this moment just how different we actually were. Me standing here in one of Chris's sweatshirts that was old and way too big for me, hiding my shorts underneath and a pair of old tennis shoes. Her standing there, her makeup perfect, her hair curled and a skirt and a strategically planned shirt that complemented her figure.
I wondered in this moment if we were ever meant to be friends, or if we were just told to be. Because I used to look at her as a reflection of myself. We always had the same thoughts, same opinions, we looked like thing one and thing two standing next to each other.
But standing here looking at her, we couldn't have looked more different. I felt like I was looking at a complete stranger, or worse, a version of myself that I wanted to burn alive.
She swallowed.
"I was just coming to see if you were home" She said glancing up at my house. I stared back at her. I shurgged. "I'm home" I stated looking at her. She nodded looking back down at her feet.
"Look, I just wanted to come here and talk to you" She said nodding. I stepped towards her and sighed. "I've got an appointment to get to Sydney" I mumbled as I looked up at her. Her mouth parted as she looked at me, her eyes slightly glossy.
"Y/n" She breathed. I blinked at her.
"I didn't know he treated you like that" She said almost inaudible. I swallowed feeling my eyes water as I turned and looked away from her, not wanting to show weakness. I licked my lips and nodded.
"Well, now you do" I breathed looking at her. She shook her head as tears filled her eyes. "I've been a horrible friend to you Y/n" She whispered shaking her head as a sob escaped her throat.
I hadn't seen her cry many times before. Once when we were riding out bikes when we were eight, she fell off and scraped her knee. The next time was when we were fifteen and watched The Notebook for the first time.
and now, when were eighteen her looking at me while she cried over how bad of a person she thought she was. I just looked at her.
"I judged you, I was angry with you---I didn't understand why you were doing what you were doing---" She shook her head at herself. I just watched her. "I thought to myself...." She whispered.
"Why would she throw away everything she had for some boy? A boy that didn't have a dime to his name, his family name meaning nothing" She breathed. I blinked at her, swallowing.
She wiped her face and shook her head.
"And I sat in my bed and looked up at my ceiling and then I realized-" She sighed shaking her head. "That I was judging someone based off how much money they had" She said her lip starting to quiver. She took in a breath, rubbing her hand over her face.
"Y/n, I've never felt worse about myself" She whispered looking down at me. I swallowed and looked down at my feet. "Y/n, I don't think I'm a good person" She whispered. I looked up at her as her eyes closed shaking her head.
"Syd" I whispered as my arms came around her neck, pulling her into me. She cried against my shoulder. "I'm so sorry that I didn't realize what you were going through. I'm sorry I'm narrowed minded and I let who we are get in the way of how I think I-I-" She choked. I pulled her in tighter against me as she cried.
"Y/n, I wanna be like you" She pulled away from me. I looked at her. "You're so brave, you're kind" She sighed. I smiled and shook my head.
"Y/n, I'm so sorry" She breathed shaking her head. I sighed as I hugged her again, she just cried against me. I'd never seen her cry to this extent before. "Sydney it's okay" I whispered. She pulled back wiping her face.
"I know you" I whispered. She just looked at me. "You're the girl I played barbie's with, the sleepover's we've had--" I shook my head. She laughed as she wiped her eyes. "Sydney you're my best friend" I whispered. She sighed and looked down.
"I'm not going to hate you over you trying to figure out who you want to be" I whispered. She glanced up at me. "I know how easy it is to get wrapped into this life" I said holding up my arms looking around my large driveway. She swallowed and nodded.
"Sydney you don't have to be the person everybody wants you to be" I said shaking my head. She wiped her nose and nodded. I just looked at her. She turned looking down the driveway.
"Do you wanna.....hang out for a bit?" She mumbled looking at me. I smiled and looked down. "I wasn't lying. I actually do have an appointment, I wasn't just going to see Chris" I breathed. She licked her lips.
"For what?" She asked softly. I smiled looking at her. "A tattoo actually" I smiled. Her lips curved into a smile. "Really?" She breathed. I nodded letting out a laugh. She sighed letting out a breath.
"Can I come?" She asked softly. I smiled and nodded. "I'd like that alot" I whispered. She smiled down at me and nodded, before glancing to her feet.
"Do you...Do you have clothes I can borrow? These heels are killing me" She said shaking her head. I chuckled and nodded. "Of course, come on" I smiled grabbing her arm and pulling her with me, back towards my house.
-
"Y/n" Chris smiled looking down at me. I looked up at him smiling softly. "You're late again" He chuckled. I smiled and leaned up kissing his cheek. "For good reason" I smiled leaning back. He blushed slightly and closed his eyes, pulling his door all the way open.
I smiled as I skipped into his house. I turned back at him. "Nate here?" I asked. He shook his head as he closed the door, sliding his hands into his pockets.
"He's at the rec center playing hockey with some people" Chris said walking up to me slowly. I hummed as he hovered above me. He smiled leaning down before capturing his lips agaisnt mine, in a slow kiss. I smiled against him before pulling back.
"Sorry, I'm way to excited to show you what I got" I said moving past him and grabbing his hand pulling him down the hallway towards his room. He chuckled as let me pull him in his room.
He sighed as he closed the door behind us. I smiled up at him, he just shook his head. "Alright what'd you do?" He asked smiling. I turned my head as I looked away.
I grabbing his hand intertwining it with mine, pulling him close to me. "You're the second person ever to see this" I whispered. He raised his eyebrows and looked down at me. "The second?" He questioned. I sighed stepping back.
"Well Sydney was there when I got it, so she saw it before I did" I explained. He shook his head. "What are you talking about?" He said shaking his head. I stepped back before reaching for the bottom of the sweatshirt I was wearing before pulling it off my head.
I felt the cold air come over me as I dropped the sweatshirt to the ground. I looked up at Chris who raised his eyebrows, his eyes scaling down my body. "No, I've definitely seen this before" He smiled nodding his eyes glacing over my figure.
I rolled my eyes and shook my head. I grabbed his arm, pulling him back closer to me. "Don't be a dick" I chuckled. He shook his head smiling. "No, I love it like it's the first time every time" He smiled his hands grabbing my hips pressing me to him, smiling down at me.
I chuckled.
"So..." He whispered his finger trailing up my side. "Do you have something to show me or am I just getting lucky right now?" He chuckled. I smiled before pulling my hair in front of me and pulling from his grip and turning around, dropping one of my bra straps.
I blinked at the wall I was looking at, combing my fingers through my hair as I didn't hear him talk. "It's the stars you know? The one’s I love to watch" I explained. His hands came over my shoudler, as I felt his cold fingers against the sensitive skin.
I swallowed.
"Do you---Do you like it?" I asked from his silence. "You got a tattoo" He breathed. I turned slightly to look at him. "Yeah" I breathed. His lips curved into a smile. "It's beautiful" He shook his head. I smiled looking at him. "You're....." He shook his head looking down at me.
"Beautiful" He said softly. I smiled and leaned up pressing my lips to his. He pulled back, pressing his hands to my face. "Something bigger" He whispered. I smiled and nodded. "Something bigger than myself, than my problems, than my life" I whispered.
I'd gotten tiny stars with 'Something bigger' written between them. I loved it, I was just hoping Chris would love it as much as I did. He smiled staring down at me.
There was something crossing his mind. I could see it. I just couldn't read it. My hands came over his face. "Do you like it?" I whispered.
"I love..." he shook his head. "It" He nodded looking at me. I smiled. "Me too" I whispered before pressing his lips to mine. He smiled against the kiss as his hands came under me, effortlessly wrapping my legs around his torso.
My hands came up to his hair, pulling on the strands as he kissed me. He turned and sat down on his bed, my legs now moving to straddle him as we kissed.
"I'm so obsessed with you" He whispered. I smiled against his lips. I'm so in love with you. My mind raced as I kissed him. I pushed our bodies closer as we kissed, causing my hips to shift against his. He breathed in through the kiss, grabbing my waist stilling my movements.
I moved kissing the side of his face down to his neck. My lips kissing him under his ear. His grip tightened agaisnt me as he breathed in. He leaned his head back. "Fuck" He whispered as I bit down smiling.
I shifted against his hip again. "Y/n" He mumbled. I lifted my head and looked down at him. He stared up at me, his eyes droopy as he looked at me. I pushed my hands through his hair. "Hm?" I whispered kissing the side of his face. He sighed.
"I like pleasuring you" He whispered. I turned to look at him. "Why can't I pleasure you?" I whispered. He blinked down at me. "Scared of being dominated bad boy?" I chuckled against his ear, he took a breath in, leaning his head back. I looked down at him, smiling.
"You don't have to do anything you don't want to" He whispered. I shook my head and smiled. "I really want to" I whispered. He just looked at me. I glanced down between us before looking up at him and wrapping my arms around his neck. His hands stayed on my waist before shifting down to my hips.
I pulled him against me before shifting my hips against him slowly. He whined and his head fell against my shoulder. I smiled before doing it again. I felt him grow underneath me. I moved again before I felt him pull my hips matching my movements, pulling me with him.
I sighed into his neck, as he let out a hard breath.
I did it harder, his grip tightened on my hips. "Y/n" He breathed against me. I sighed from the pressure. I did it again and whined. He gripped my hips.
“Stop, you’re—“ He breathed. I pushed his shoulders down against the bed as he looked up at me, his breath heavy. I pushed his shirt up slightly, running my hands over his chest. He let out unsteady breaths as he closed his eyes leaning his head back.
My hands moved down to his jeans before unbuttoning them slowly. He swallowed shifting his hips as I unzipped his jeans slowly. My eyes scaled over his black boxers hugging him tightly.
God he was hot without even trying.
“Don’t do anything you’re not comfortable with” He breathed from above me. I glanced up at him as his chest rose and fell. I pressed my lips right above his boxers.
“Fuck” he stated as if he was trying to say something else. I smiled and shook my head. “I’m gonna bust before you even touch me” He sighed. I chuckled and shook my head as I pulled his jeans down.
He lifted his hips allowing me to pull them down. My eyes scalled the outline of him shown through his black boxers. My hand went over him before my mind could catch up, running my hand down his length.
He pushed his hips up against my hand for more pressure. “Sorry” He mumbled quickly. I smiled as my thumb brushed over his tip through his boxers, a wet spot already present.
I felt him twitch under my touch. His eyes screwed shut above me. My hand moved to the band of his fingers running my fingers down it slightly, very slowly.
“Please don’t tease me, I won’t last” He whispered. I smiled and shook my head. “But I like you like this” I whispered. He whined and moved slightly.
“Please” He whispered. I smiled as I peered up at him with a smirk, placing my hand over his length again, pushing down.
“Fuck, this is so embarrassing” He hissed, placing one of his hands against his face. I sighed smiling before hooking my fingers under his waistband and pulling them down his thighs.
I froze.
Jesus.
His eyes were trained on the ceiling as his breath rose and fell. I swallowed before scooting on his lap and hovering over him looking down at his face. His eyes shifted to mine.
“Hey” I smiled, my hand resting at his lower stomach. “Yeah?” He breathed looking at me. I smiled as my hand trailed down his body. He took in a breath as he looked up again.
“Why didn’t you tell me your dick was huge?”
His eyes snapped down to me. “It’s not—it’s not something I just go around parading” He breathed looking at me. I pursed my lips as my hand wrapped around him. He took in a breath.
“It should be” I smiled as I pumped up and then traced my thumb over his tip. He bucked up into my hands. “Y/n” He whined under me. I smiled. “Uh huh?” I whispered as I peppered kisses on his jaw.
I pushed him back down slowly and he moaned. I smiled. My new favorite noise. I did it again pumping him up and down. His breath was audible as he constricted himself from pushing up against me meeting my movements.
“Go-go faster” He mumbled squeezing his eyes shut. I smiled ignoring him as I kept my pace. “You’re so pretty Chris” I whispered looking down at him, obviously in distress.
He whined and pushed up against my hand. “I’m begging please, go faster” He whispered his eyes shut. I smiled and narrowed my eyes. “What you don’t like this pace?” I whispered as I moved over him.
He whined and turned his head. “Please” He said softly. I sighed before I moved over him faster, his eyes shot open and he looked at me as I moved against him.
“Fuck, Y/n—not that f-fast” He jolted forward. “Thought you wanted it faster?” I tilted my head. His mouth parted as he stared at me trying to control himself.
“You don’t like it?” I pressed my lips against his ear. “Wanna—last—fuck” He grunted against my movements. I continued my movements every now and then circling my thumb around his tip.
“Y/n”
“Y/n fuck—“
His body was a mess under me as sweat beaded at his forehead and his stomach clenched. He tilted his head up his mouth opening before moaning. I just watched him.
Holy shit.
“F-Fuck”
I felt his dick twitch in my hand before his body stilled and he moaned. I smiled as I watched him come undone. I didn’t want it to be over.
My hand motions didn’t stop. “Shit y/n—stop—stop” He breathed leaning up, his hand came over mine. I stopped as he attempted to catch his breath.
He laid back against the bed again once my hand was away from him. I looked down at my hand before looking up at him.
“Were you trying to kill me?” He said through his breaths. I smiled and shook my head pressing my lips against his cheek. “I just didn’t want it to be over” I mumbled as I laid against him.
He chuckled under me. “My one minute and thirty seconds not enough?” He chuckled under me. I smiled and buried my face into his neck as pulled his boxers back up.
“That was actually really embarrassing I don’t know why I finished that fast” He sighed. I smiled up at him and pressed my lips to side of his face. “I thought it was hot” I smiled. He sighed.
“I have to wash my hands” I mumbled. He chuckled and released his arms from me. “Okay” He smiled up at me. I pushed off of him before walking over into his bathroom and running my hand over the water.
I walked back into his room, seeing him standing over his drawers pulling a shirt inside out as he stood there in his boxers.
I stared at him my eyes trailing his body. He glanced over at me and smirked. “You alright?” He smiled. I crossed my arms over my chest, tearing my eyes away from his boxers that were tight around his ass.
“Yeah” I nodded looking in his eyes. He shook his head pulling the shirt over his head before pulling on some sweatpants. I bent down and grabbed my shirt pulling it back over my head.
He walked over to me and pulled me against his chest, resting his chin on the top of my head.
“I love your tattoo y/n” He mumbled. I smiled as I wrapped my arms around him. “Thank you” I whispered. He sighed before pulling me back and grabbing my arm, walking over to his bed then laying down and pulling me on top of him.
I leaned my head against his shoulder as his arms lazily wrapped around my waist.
“Where does Max think you are when you’re over here?”
I blinked at his chest. “He hasn’t spoken to me since the party” I whispered. Chris was silent above me as we laid there for a second. I closed my eyes because I knew what was coming.
“You know..” he whispered.
“I know Chris” I mumbled. He sighed and stayed silent. The two weeks was up tomorrow. He shifted under me.
“I just really fucking like you y/n” He whispered. I closed my eyes and sighed. “I like you so much more” I whispered back. He swallowed.
“Don’t leave me in the dark please, I don’t wanna feel like an idiot. Tell me you’re gonna do it soon” He whispered. I looked up at him as he stared down at me with hurt in his eyes.
“I promised you Chris, I don’t break my promises” I whispered. He nodded and sighed as he pulled me against him.
I really fucking love you, my heart screamed.

Tumblr media
2019
it was three years ago when lando norris had met you during the start of your relationship with carlos sainz — he was at the time his teammate for mclaren. the both of you had gotten along really well and he often found himself hanging out with you whenever your boyfriend wasn't around.
carlos found nothing wrong with it since he knew the two of you were close in age and he trusted the both of you.
"i brought you some chicken nuggets and french fries." you had told him as you left the box of food on lando's lap. "what is that stench?"
"thank you, you really saved me." he smiled as he munched on a french fry. "your boyfriend brought over some sushi for the group and the smell was god awful."
"oh c'mon it wasn't even bad." carlos said before placing a soft kiss on your forehead. "amor, i'm glad you're here!"
as you and carlos continued being painfully adorable, lando found himself looking away and quietly continued eating the food your brought him.
at the time he didn't even realize he had started catching feelings for you but as the two of you got closer he understood that that's what is was.
"i was busy y/n!" lando overheard carlos yelling at you. "so what? you're just going to invite him whenever i can't make it to one of our stupid dates?"
"it was our anniversary date and you decided to skip on it to play golf with your friends!"
he awkwardly sat on the couch listening to your conversation going on upstairs. you had called him upset the night before because carlos decided to cancel on your anniversary date last minute so being the nice friend he was, he brought you pizza and some flowers.
maybe it wasn't the greatest idea.
so that same night after having a mini pillow fight and throwing popcorn at each other around your apartment, the both of you sat down watching some scary movie that you had picked out.
he had let out a loud boo which made you jump right into his lap. "what the hell!" you yelled before smacking his arm.
he wrapped an arm around you as he was laughing and used his other arm to try to protect himself from your hits. "i'm sorry! i thought it would be funny..."
when the laughs dialed down, he wrapped his arm around your waist more comfortably and you rested your head onto his shoulder.
yeah he definitely had it bad for you.
"you ever think about leaving him?" he quietly asked.
"don't do this lan i ca-"
"just tell me that you feel this connection too and it's not just m-"
your phone began ringing and the both of you realized the position you guys were in, he cleared his throat as you got up from his lap and sat back down next to him.
missed call from carlos.
"i can't make you wait till i decide to leave him, it's not fair to you..."
he gently grabbed your hand and shook his head. "i know we're going to be together eventually and i'll wait for you, no matter how long it takes."
once the movie finished the both of you had fallen asleep in your living room, he slept on the floor while you slept on the couch and the next morning carlos saw you guys sleeping soundly.
"you've got to be fucking kidding me..." carlos mumbled as he took his shoes off.
if it had been a few days ago he would've been fine with it but since everyone on social media knew it was your anniversary and the both of you had been spending it with other people, there were many opinions on that.
most of them talking about how maybe you had been seeing lando behind carlos's back since you guys were always together, there were others who defended you and said maybe carlos was the reason behind it all.
carlos was starting to see your friendship differently now — lando was always around, the both of you always goofing off, making inside jokes he could never understand...
"i'm sorry lando but you should leave..." you gently told him as you walked down the steps.
he nodded as he grabbed his sweater from the couch and followed you to the door. "you'll be alright?"
"yeah i'll be fine."
as he faced you, he saw carlos looking down at the both of you from the top of the stairs. "just call me if anything alright?" which you nodded to.
he didn't hear from you for a few days after that but he knew you were alright since you had been posting on your story, carlos and you had gone on a trip to spain to visit his family.
after returning he heard the news that carlos was signing a deal to join ferrari the following year which led lando to go visit carlos's house and tell him his side of the story.
"i'm sorry i misinterpreted your friendship with y/n but me joining ferarri has nothing to do with you..." carlos told him. "i just would appreciate if the both of you had some space, we're in a shaky place right now and i'm hoping i could propose to her soon..."
this moment was the moment he realized that he needed to put some space between the two of you so you could make your mind up.
"she's one a of a kind and i don't want to let her go."
neither did he.
"she is..." lando mumbled out before sipping on his water.
a few days after that conversation you had called and texted him a few times but he never answered so you eventually gave up. it took everything in him to not show up to your house and declare his love for you but for carlos's wishes he began to distance himself from you.
2020
the following year, carlos and you were finally back on track until there were rumors going around that carlos was seeing an ex girlfriend again.
"we just met for a coffee and that was it!"
you really didn't know if you should believe him since this was the girl he was with for years before you. before dating he had told you that he planned on proposing to her but it just didn't work out.
"i'm going to my place tonight, i'll see you tomorrow for your race..."
but you didn't really go back to your apartment, instead you went to a club with some of your friends and later found yourself hanging out with lando since he was there also.
"oh my god, i missed you!" you smiled at him as he threw a chip over at your way.
and god did he miss hanging around you too.
so for the next few weeks the two of you slowly began hanging out again and carlos was fine with it since he was currently busy with the ferrari group.
lando's feelings for you had slowly started creeping back in. he didn’t know what it was, but all the memories with you had been stuck in his head and he couldn't get you out.
you were like a dream in his head.
"oh carlos is so killing you when he finds out..." daniel joked as he put on his helmet.
lando's eyes were on you but then looked at daniel. "what are you talking about?"
"it's so obvious you're in love with her..."
months later, carlos went to lando asking him for space between the two because things were shaky in the relationship again. "i'm starting to think you're the root of the problem..." carlos joked but lando knew deep down he probably wasn't joking.
it was the truth.
"dude i think you should just tell her..." his best friend max began ranting on about it.
he groaned before sinking deeper into the couch. "then i'd just betray carlos's trust and i don't want to do that!"
before they could carry on with the conversation the pair heard a knock on the door and max opened the door since lando was too busy sulking. "oh dude it's for you..."
and there you were standing with tears on your face so unfortunately the whole distance thing didn’t last very long for the both of you.
“woah, hey what happened?” lando asked you as he brought you inside and max made his way into his room.
“carlos asked me to move in with him but.."
"that's great right? shouldn't that be a good thing?" he helped wipe off a tear slipping out of your eye.
"i told him i didn't think we were ready for that yet and he got upset and asked for space but i just needed to know if you still had any type of..."
he knew it was coming, now he needed to figure out how to respond.
"feelings for me before i make a final decision."
you didn't know when it happened but your feelings for lando had returned again.
"of course i do b-"
he wasn’t sure what made you do what you did next but before he knew it, your lips were on his — the faint taste of your cherry chapstick gave him the urge to deepen the kiss but he snapped back into reality.
the both of you shouldn’t have been doing this.
"i can't do this to carlos, you're the love of his life and he's one of my closest frie-"
as you began getting up from your seat, lando's eyes landed on max who was waving his hands around from the corner of the room. "this is your chance!" he whispered.
oh fuck it.
he pulled you in by the waist and kissed you, backing away slowly he grabbed your cheek. “leave him for good” he whispered “and be with me.”
you nodded before kissing him again and lando let himself fall into the couch with you straddling him, not breaking the kiss.
"my boy is so getting it on!" max mumbled as he took that kiss as a queue to run back into his room.
and little lando norris did indeed get it on.
the two of you panted, trying to recover from your orgasms and lando scanned the room as he saw the clothes the both of you had on thrown around the floor and looked right back at you.
it was a peaceful silence for a while until he finally spoke. “so whose dick is better, his or mine?”
2021
the next year the both of you took it slow before officially getting into a relationship but lando had already found himself so fucking in love with you, like ridiculously so.
"c'mon love, just sleepover this week again." he complained before wrapping his arm around you and dragged you back into bed. "i'll die if you leave me."
you let out a giggle before kissing his cheek. "fine i will stay, can't have you dying on me."
you had officially broken up with carlos after the whole thing with lando.
"it's for the best..." carlos had agreed with you.
what you didn't know was that he actually had prepared a speech and bought a big, shiny ring because he knew you deserved a ring like that — so he had hoped he could change your mind about your decision in the future but you never did.
he confided in lando about the situation and it made him feel guiltier than ever. he also didn't know if he should have told you about the ring but at the end of his conversation with max, he decided against it.
since the both of you were busy and in different states most of the time, the both of you facetimed whenever you could and if you weren't busy he'd fly you out to wherever he was or he'd fly out to you.
"a club with the guys? are you sure?" you questioned him. "won't carlos be there?"
"i heard he wasn't going to be able to make it but i mean they know we're good friends so it shouldn't be weird or anything." lando helped you slip on your dress and observed it. "you don't think the dress is too short? i mean you look really hot bu-"
"nope i think it's perfect."
later on that night lando had a little too much to drink after seeing carlos practically on you the entire time — turns out he was able to make it only because charles had told him you were coming along so he wasn't able to hang around you much.
"i think they're going to get back together..." charles told the group as he took a sip out of his cup. "carlos said they've been texting or something like that."
"texting?" lando asked as he looked back at you laughing at whatever it was that carlos had told you.
daniel knew what was going on with the both of you — he had walked in on lando taking a rather intresting photo of his downstairs area in a public bathroom and after chasing him around he finally admitted to who it was going to.
"carlos is so go-"
"he's so going to kill me, i know!" he groaned as he snatched back his phone from him.
so as he continued watching lando taking yet another shot and go over to the booth where carlos and you were, he began to get nervous for him.
he plopped himself right next to you "hey lovebirds! what are you guys talking about?"
you gave him a look and noticed he reeked of alcohol.
"nothi-"
"about this trip i took her on for our first anniversary...."
lando lightly elbowed you and smiled. "oh wow must've been nice, you know i took her to se-"
now it was your turn to elbow him and just in time daniel had made it to the table. "come get a drink with me carlos, max is paying!" he was able to drag him away and you stayed behind with lando.
"what is wrong with you?" you asked him "you know he would've ki-"
he rolled his eyes before standing up and dragging you into the men's restroom. "i thought it was me you wanted to be with, why is charles saying you and carlos are talking again?"
"i do la-"
"so why are you letting him practically eye fuck you...." he scanned over your dress and groaned again. "it's that damn dress."
your dress made you look too good.
aside from carlos being with you the entire time, it had the guys staring at you every now and then.
you just looked so pretty to him — in your pretty dress, your pretty face isn’t helping the very visible print that was going on in his dress pants.
you rolled your eyes knowing what it was going to take for him to stop sulking like a child. you saw how his lust filled eyes were on you so it didn't take long before he started kissing you roughly, hands roaming over your body before he flipped your dress up and pushed your thong to the side.
"fuck you look so pretty like this..." he mumbled before sinking two fingers into your wet folds. "you're mine, you know that right?"
you nodded to his question and let your head fall onto his shoulder. "l-lan i need you..."
"stop!" lando instantly pulled your dress back down and the both of you heard a bathroom stall open, it was charles looking white as a ghost. "before this could go any further i need to get out of here."
he cleared his throat as he quickly washed his hands.
"carlos can’t kno-"
he nodded "i know, i won’t say anything..." as he opened the door he looked back to lando. “you know he’s going to kill you right?”
lando rolled his eyes and helped charles close the door.
you slapped his arm after he tried kissing you again. “really lan?”
he rubbed his arm. “ow, how was i supposed to know he was in here…”
after a few more minutes of bickering back and fourth — lando locked the door and was finally able to do what he wanted with you since before you guys had left the hotel room.
as he was blowing your back out he kept whispering sweet nothings into your ear.
“god i’d love to do this with you everyday…”
“i promise i‘m going to give you the world.”
“you would like that wouldn’t you?”
you gripped onto the tiled sink and the most you could respond was with uh huhs and mmhms.
2023
it had been an amazing year with lando already but the both of you had still kept it a secret.
during the singapore race carlos had helped lando get podium and it made him feel a bit guilty for not telling carlos the truth yet. carlos still considered him to be one of his bestest friends but once he finds out about your relationship, he was for sure going to kill him when he sees him with you.
you guys hadn't gone public yet, you were finally ready to do so and after getting p2 in japan he had decided he was finally ready also.
"i just want you to come with me to texas..." lando told you over the phone. "i've gone on the podium three times already and i just would really like to see you there for me for the next one."
you smiled and rolled your eyes playfully. “just say that you miss me…”
the both of you hated being away from each other for too long. lando could say he definitely hated it more than you — if you didn’t have a modeling career, he definitely would’ve loved for you to travel with him.
“alright fine i miss you, now will you please come back here.”
besides missing you there was something else he missed also, something nobody else could give him but you. the whole phone sex, pictures and sexting was just not cutting it for him.
so finally after you had agreed and flew over to his place in monaco, he wasted no time in receiving what he missed.
“missed you so much…” he mumbled with his right hand around your throat giving it a slight squeeze and placed a very wet kiss onto your lips.
during media day, you had happily decided to go with lando. there were some people that gave you looks and others were happy about you guys being together.
"well looks like there's going to be a lot of drama today." pierre whispered to his girlfriend after they both smiled at you guys from a distance.
she playfully slapped his arm "oh hush, they look so cute together!"
lando held your hand the entire time and walked over to where oscar was sitting. "took you guys long enough..." he smiled looking at the both of you guys. "i was getting real sick of hearing him talk about you all the time."
lando rolled his eyes and wrapped his arm around you. "yeah, yeah, shut it."
while oscar and lando were doing an interview, you sat on a nearby chair and scrolled through your phone when you saw someone sitting next to you.
"has he seen you yet?" you heard.
"not yet..." you answered and looked at charles who held up a bag of chips towards to you.
you took one out of the bag and the both of you sat quietly. you had hoped carlos would be supportive and it wouldn't be a big thing but you knew how your ex boyfriend was so it made you nervous.
charles knew it was most definitely going to be a big fight because carlos still loved you — you could see the hearts in his eyes when he talked about you, he had hoped that you would make your way back to him.
after the interview lando and you decided to just walk around before someone else wanted an interview, lando was hoping you guys wouldn't bump into carlos anywhere.
for awhile you guys didn't but the luck was bound to run out at some time.
"i need to use the restroom, i'll be back." you had told him before planting a small kiss on his lips.
he smiled as he saw you walking to the restroom but it was soon washed away when he turned and saw carlos walking towards him.
shit.
"oh boy..." charles mumbled seeing the both of them from faraway before tapping oscar and running towards them.
"look mate, hold o-" lando started but before even finishing his sentence carlos had already swung on him.
lando clenched his jaw and backed up from him.
in a way he believed he did deserve that.
"how long lando?"
"awhile bu-"
before carlos could swing again oscar and charles held him back. the shouting had drawn the attention of others, including the photographers.
"i considered you one of my closest friends!" carlos yelled as the pair had finally let him go. "how could you do this to me?"
they both continued yelling at each other and lando was starting to lose his patience with him.
you had came out of the bathroom and saw everyone looking at the same thing, carlos tackling lando onto the floor while throwing a punch.
as you walked over there lando had managed to flip carlos over and punched him. "are you both being serious right now!"
from a distance the rest of the drivers were watching you yelling at the both of them from a distance.
alex handed george his fifty dollars. "i told you it was going to happen at some point."
"well he started it first..."
the pair continued bickering and carlos shoved lando again before looking at you. "i'm assuming he did not tell you that i was planning to propose to you and tha-"
lando rolled his eyes. "shut up carlos."
carlos pointed over to lando. "you shut up..." he looked back at you again. "that's why you went through with whatever bullshit story he gave you just to be with him."
lando tried grabbing your hand but you pushed his hand away. "why didnt you tell me about?"
"would it have made a difference if i did?" he looked at you as you stayed silent. "you had already left him and you were already with me when he told me..."
carlos chuckled before nodding. "that long huh?"
charles tried stepping in once he saw carlos's hand make a fist but he pushed him back and swung at lando.
lando was able to dodge it again and just before he could throw a hit, andrea and frederic came over before pulling the boys to the side. "what's going on here?"
while they talked to the boys, you had decided to walk back to the car. after a minute lando noticed you walking away from the distance and decided to run after you.
he pulled you to the side and saw you had tear streaming down your face. "love where are you going? let me grab my stuff and we can go home."
you shook your head. "i'm going back to my home a-"
"you're flying back to cali?"
you nodded. "lando that was really embarrassing for me! we aren't little kids anymore, there was no need to be fighti-"
"well he hit me first an-"
you gave him a look and he quickly stopped talking. "i'll call you when i land alright?"
he shook his head before grabbing your hand. "but where does that leave us?"
you shrugged as you moved your hand away from him and wiped one of your tears. "i don't know lan..."

Angel opens the door to the hotel groaning. He didn't have a particularly good night at the studio though that wasn't a surprise. He was excited to see you, his boyfriend. You were the best part of his night but when he opened the door he was surprised to not see you there. He figured you might be out getting groceries or doing another strange task Charlie gave you. With a sigh he flopped on his bed and cuddled into the sheets as Nugs curled up close to him.
“Do you know where he is Nuggsy?” he asked the pig but Nugs just let out an oink. He chuckled “Yeah me neither.” He pulled his phone out and began mindlessly scrolling. He landed eventually on a post that you made. It was a photo of you two looking happy as ever. He thought you looked adorable, though he always thinks that. He quickly saved the photo and resumed scrolling. Soon the door creaked open and Angel sat up looking towards the door confused but soon smiled when he noticed it was you carrying a tray of food. “Hey baby, where were ya?” he said as you sat down on the bed. “In the kitchen making you some food.” you place the tray in his lap and he smiles. “Aw toots you didn't need to do that..” he looked down at the tray noticing it was some chicken alfredo (I'm so hungry) and there was also some tiramisu as well. “I did though, it's worth all the work to see your smile.” you rest your head on his shoulder sitting next to him and he smiles. “Well okay then baby.” he begins eating and feeding you some bites every once and a while. He then begins eating some of the tiramisu, feeding you a few bites as well.
After a while he finishes the food and you both turn on a movie leaving the empty tray on the floor for later. He snuggles into you well playing with your hair. You bury your face in his chest fluff and he chuckles. After a while you begin to feel sleepy and obviously Angel continues playing with your hair until you're fast asleep. Sleeping peacefully in your boyfriend's arms. "I love you babe," was the last thing you heard. <3

request: anon: yandere asmodeus
warnings: yandere, kidnapped reader, too many pet names (reader gets called darling, sweetie, honey, and baby), forced close proximity, unwanted touching (not sexual), unhealthy relationship, not proofread
word count: 710
A/N: i'm so very tired rn.  i do not in any way support yandere behaviour, please know that this writing is purely fictional, and should not ever be reenacted in real life
You glare at the door in front of you, debating running away and back to the comfort of your own bed. No, comfort wasn’t the right word. Your mattress felt unusually hard tonight, and the sheets felt like sandpaper grinding against your skin. Your blankets were too hot and you felt suffocated underneath them, but that wasn’t nearly as bad as the uncomfortable sensation you got from sleeping without any covers. After an eternity of contemplation, you will yourself to lift your hand to the door, your knuckle knocking against the wood. Regret immediately hits you as the sound rings through your ears, but you stay still. It’s been too long since you got a good night's sleep and you weren’t gonna let an overgrown chicken stop you from getting that. You’re not letting your guard down, and you’re not letting yourself forget about the monster he really is. The love he claims to shower you with is nothing but poison he decorates with food dye and glitter. And you won’t fall for it, no matter what.
”What’s the matter darling?” he opens the door and you reluctantly crane your neck upwards to meet his eyes.
”I can’t sleep.” you say simply, hands clinging onto your pyjama shirt.
You don’t miss the way his smile widens ever so slightly, before he asks, “Do you wanna sleep in my bed?” he pushes his door open further, allowing you to get a look at his bed. Your body has never felt as exhausted as it does when you see his bed. It’s just so big and fluffy, and the blankets are so soft, you feel like they’re calling to you, telling you to come sleep.
The thought of saying no and marching back to your own room crosses your mind more than once, but you genuinely don’t think you have the energy to do that right now. Nodding your head, you remind yourself of all the shit he’s put you through, you just really want a good sleep. You’re not falling in love with him like he’s so convinced you eventually will and you never will, you know that.
“Is everything alright with your bed sweetie? Anything you need fixed?”
“I dunno I just couldn’t sleep.” you shrug, frustrated over how genuine his voice sounded.
He grabs your shoulders, leading you to the bed, "Well not to worry darling, you're always welcome to sleep in my bed."
You know that. Not a day went by when he wasn't reassuring you that there wasn't any pressure to sleep with him, and that he trusted you to grow comfortable with him in your own time. Though apparently not enough to not kidnap you. You keep reminding yourself of that whenever you catch yourself thinking about how nice he treats you. Or whenever you find yourself wanting to believe him when he tells you how much he loves you.
The bed as you suspected is comfortable as fuck. The soft sheets and blankets gently hug your body, and you can feel yourself sinking into the mattress. It's almost enough to make you forget about your captor lying next to you. Almost.
"You comfortable honey?" his voice rings through your ear, making you aware of just how close he is.
Shuffling over to further the distance between you, you sigh, ”I hope you know I’m only doing this for your bed, this has nothing to do with you.”
”I know.” he answers nonchalantly, making your chest tighten with frustration.
You sit up, staring at him with the coldest glare you can muster, ”I just want it absolutely clear that I’m exhausted yet I took like, ten minutes standing in front of your door, contemplating sleeping in the same bed as you.”
”You’re adorable baby.” he says tiredly, laughing softly as if this were just some joke. His hand gently but firmly pushes you back down to the bed, done with the ease of moving a pillow. You go to make yourself more comfortable on the bed, but feel Ozzie's hand pull you against his much larger body.
Before you can even begin to struggle, you're trapped between him and his arm, as his mumbled voice softly speaks to you, "Get some rest darling. I love you."

Wedding Mornings, Spencer Reid
Tumblr media
Word Count: 2.2k~
As a child, I always wondered if I would ever find the right person for me. Having no luck to find such a person as a teenager, I ended up wondering if I would even find a husband, better yet, my soul mate. In years to come, I would start to believe that I would be alone forever.
However, once I moved to Washington DC and found a job at the Melvin Gelvin library, I soon befriended a man that visited there a lot. I had seen him in the research section before, but he never came up to my desk for help. I thought he was cute, in all honesty, but I didn't want to come off as too confident and go up to him to see if he needed help when I never did that with anyone else in the library.
So, the one day he did come up to me and ask me where to find a book I had seen him take out many times, I smiled and nodded before helping him find the book. He was nervous asking me his question, and I couldn't help but be a little nervous as well. Although, once we found the encyclopedia for Philosophy, he introduced himself as Spencer Reid, and I couldn't help but rejoice as my name fell from my lips in return. Finally, I got to learn the name of the man who I had shared glances with so many times, yet, we never interacted - up until then.
After that, it felt like a free-game. Anytime Spencer came into the library, he was asking me for books that I knew very well he was aware of where they would be. In spite of this, I always helped him, and after he checked out the third book I had seen him read many times before, Spencer finally asked me out for coffee.
Unfortunately, our date kept getting postponed because of Spencer's job. At first, I thought he was backing out in regret since it had already taken him so long to ask me out in first place. However, once we did go on that date, I discovered that that wasn't even a tiny fraction as to why he kept rescheduling. As soon as I found out that Spencer held such a huge responsibility with a job that relied on him to capture mass murderers and kidnappers, I found myself in complete admiration for him. Not to mention the fact that all of the science books he had been checking out weren't for class or education - he already earned his degrees in those fields beforehand.
Now that I have a dazzling ring on my finger, I'm even happier that I was patient in waiting for Spencer to finally make it to our date. I knew how long I waited for that coffee shop date he promised - six-whole-weeks. However, I never knew how long I was waiting for a man like Spencer to make his way into my life until I found out how much I truly loved him. Through saying those three words that are often said too much, I discovered that I had waited my entire life to find Spencer, and when he proposed to me in Rossi's garden one late night, I found out that Spencer truly felt the same way.
Soon enough, the months before our wedding slowly passed until the brightest week of our lives came up, and once that started, it was like everything was going at twice the speed it should have been going. All of my bridesmaids (JJ, Emily, (f/n), and Penelope) ran around like chickens with their heads cut off while Spencer's groomsmen (Derek, Aaron, and Rossi) did the same. Even during the morning of my wedding, everyone was running around to get things done while I just stayed in my bride's quarter's kitchen and did the same thing I did every other morning.
"I'm just saying," Penelope starts, watching as I pour freshly made coffee into a mug for Spencer. "It's bad luck for a groom to see the bride before the wedding!" She reminds me, causing me to smile.
"I thought that was only if the bride was wearing her dress," I point out, adding more sugar than actual coffee into the mug. "And, besides," I add, giving the coffee one last stir before placing the spoon down on the counter. I have no idea how Spencer can drink this stuff with nearly half of the mug filled with sugar.
Turning toward Penelope with the steaming mug in hand, my eyes quickly catch onto the expertly made bouquet in her hands, every flower I wanted beautifully bundled together with a gorgeous (f/c) bow wrapped around the stems. How is she so good at any creative thing she does?
"I've made Spencer his coffee every morning since our first day living together, Pen," I tell her, smiling as I think about the fond memory. Sometimes he'll make me a cup too if I haven't done so myself. "I don't want to miss a day because of some old, wise tale that's probably been taken out of its original context," I add, slightly smirking as I know that's the truth. Once the words leave my mouth, Penelope can't resist the smile the makes it's way onto her lips as she shakes her head.
"Well, I don't think anything I say is going to stop you," She notes, earning a head nod back from me. She's right. Nothing is going to make me halt in my actions of bringing Spencer his coffee - not even a silly little fairytale.
Heading out of the hotel room in only my silk pajamas that match the rest of the girls' clothes, I find myself walking across the hall with my heart pounding in my chest. It's strange to just now realize that today is the official start of my forever. It's a fantastic feeling, but at the same time, it's giving me a high that I feel like I can't come down from. It's a dangerous, yet blissful thing.
Just as I round the corner to walk to the other end of the hall, my eyes quickly catch onto a familiar figure leaving his hotel room. There's no way I could ever forget those brunet curls or the slender body of the man I love. Although, what is a bit odd is that he's currently carrying a coffee mug of his own. I guess he didn't think that I'd stick to what we've always done.
"Good morning, handsome," I greet Spencer, causing him to lightly jump before turning around and seeing me. Once his eyes land on my pajama covered figure, he visibly calms down with a small sigh and smile.
"I wanted to go and see you, but the guys wouldn't let me. So, I had to sneak out," Spencer explains with a shake of his head, making me laugh. Just as I do that, Spencer's whole demeanor changes as if he's softening up. His tense shoulders loosen while his posture relaxes a bit, another sigh leaving his slightly smiling lips as he does so. He looks calmer than any other time I can remember.
"You... you look amazing," he compliments me, causing me to blush with a wide smile. My hair is an absolute mess right now, a majority of it up in a clip as I haven't brushed it yet. Not to mention my face doesn't even have a touch of makeup on it and I'm still in pajamas - there's nothing about me that says "amazing" right now. I don't know how Spencer can say such things.
"Thank you, baby," I tell him, taking a few steps forward before planting a kiss to his cheek. Despite today being the day of our wedding, Spencer's cheeks turn to light pink in response to my lips touching them as they always do, and I can't help but smile as I see the rose color take over his skin. Despite what some people say, I truly believe there's a good chance it will always be this way.
"I made you coffee for this morning," I tell him, gesturing to the steaming mug in my hand. "But I didn't know you made your own already," I further add, watching as the corner of Spencer's lip quirks up. Is he surprised that I would do this?
"Actually," he starts, holding the cup out to me. "I made this for you - that's why I was heading out of the room so I could go and give it to you," Spencer explains, trading mugs with me as a bright smile takes over his face. "I'm glad that we both had the same idea."
Smiling back, I nod before taking a sip from the cup of coffee Spencer made me, Spencer following in suit with the cup that I made him. We both let out a small, satisfied groan as the taste of coffee reaches our lips.
"You always manage to make my coffee perfect," Spencer points out, making my heart clench. He's so adorable, and he doesn't even realize it.
"And I'll never forget it, love, not for a long time," I tell him, leaning closer to kiss his cheek. However, before I can do so, Spencer takes the chance to wrap his free arm around me and pull me against him. Now satisfied, Spencer gives off a small hum before leaning down and pressing his lips to mine. In his arms, I feel the happiest I've felt this morning, and with the events of today being added in, I am more than ecstatic right now. Making coffee for Spencer every morning for the rest of my life is only a small fraction of what our marriage is going to be, and I can't help but look forward to doing it.
"I'm so glad we're doing this," Spencer confesses, pulling away from my lips to rest his nose against mine. Smiling, I gently sigh as I feel his hand on my waist sliding underneath my pajama top and onto my skin. His touch is so gentle that I could almost mistake it for a cloud touching me. "I've waited so long for this."
"I wish we would've done it sooner," I admit, nuzzling the side of my face into Spencer's soft sleep shirt. "Then I could've been Mrs. Reid for a long time now," I point out, turning my eyes up to the smiling man holding me.
"I do like the sound of that," Spencer murmurs, smirking as he leans farther down to press his lips to my neck. "Misses Reid," He slowly says my new title, each syllable rolling off his tongue smoothly. Even before we were engaged, he would jokingly call me that, but now that I'm actually Mrs. Reid, my love for the name has only grown.
With that, Spencer and I connect our lips in another sweet kiss while holding each other close. In his arms, I feel the warmest and happiest I have ever been. Nothing could ruin this moment between us. It's simply too perfect.
"Stop making out in the hallway! You'll be doing enough of that later!" A stern voice interrupts us, causing Spencer and me to look over to the hotel room door he stepped out of a few seconds ago. Hanging out of the empty doorway is Derek who's smirking with an accusing eyebrow. "Isn't it bad luck to see the bride before the ceremony?"
"Actually, Derek, it's only bad luck if-" Spencer argues Derek just as another voice cuts in.
"What are you two doing?!" A shout sounds throughout the hall, the tone full of Penelope Garcia's typical sassiness. Immediately, both of our heads shoot toward the end of the hall where the spunky blonde stomps toward us. "What have you two been doing?!"
"Derek, help us," I beg, turning my head back to Spencer's best man. Instead of doing what I actually asked, Derek laughs and shakes his head while holding his hands up.
"Oh no," he starts, "I'm not suffering at the hands of the woman behind you."
"Yeah," Penelope states, matter-of-factly. "I would be scared too if I were you, missy," just as soon as the words leave her lips, Penelope puts her hand on my arm and practically drags me out of Spencer's arms while Derek does the same to Spencer, both mindful of the mugs in our hands.
"You can see your beautiful bride in a couple of hours," Derek assures my soon-to-be-husband while he gives me one last kiss. As soon as his lips touch mine, I realize this is the last kiss before the one kiss we get to share that marks our forever with each other. Plus, I have no doubt that our friends will be cheering and teasing us as we do so - just like Derek and Penelope do right now. Just at the single thought, I can hardly wait.

fluff ?? fluff. suna is a pining idiot, horrendously down bad <3 i just wanted to write for hq again :x
Tumblr media
suna knows —knew— this is a bad idea. this was a terrible idea. it has a snowball's chance in hell of ever working out. so how the fuck did he let atsumu talk him into doing this?
it's raining, has been for the past fifteen minutes. he doesn't have practice today, which according to atsumu is a sign from the gods this is his chance, suna isn't sure he understands even know as he waits for you.
this is all a big gamble— a toss thrown in the air to see if it lands on the possibility that you forgot to bring an umbrella today. despite knowing this is truly a shitty idea, suna hopes that whatever gods atsumu was talking about listen to him today.
and then he sees you finally making your way towards the exit of the school gates, and as you come to stand next to him, as he glances at you from his peripheral vision, grimacing at the pouring rain and muttering something that sounds like —fuck, why is it raining in may— he thinks holy fuck atsumu was right. this is his day.
he waits, maybe you'll pull out an umbrella from your bag. but you don't, and suna fist bumps internally.
if he waits any longer, he knows it'll only give the moment an air of awkwardness it doesn't need. he needs to get his shit together and stop chickening out already. so he clears his throat, hopefully catching your attention.
“it's really pouring, huh.” he says, and then cringes internally.
“hmm,” you hum, your gaze finding his when you speak, “it really is. i think it's gonna take a while, are you waiting for someone?” you gesture to the umbrella in his hands.
okay, this is it. “oh, not really. i just like the rain.” he cringes for the second time in five minutes.
you chuckle amusingly, and suna feels his heart skip millions of beats in one second, “i like it too, but i don't fancy getting drenched.”
“oh, uhm,” he starts, eyes resting anywhere but you, “we can uh, walk together.”
you smile at him, pretty and kind, “oh, that's alright. you want to watch the rain, right?”
fuck— is this rejection? he wants to say that no, rain is pretty and all but you're beautiful right now as the dampness from the atmosphere makes your skin glisten, he wants to tell you he has been trying for the past year to get your attention, and that he really wants to walk with you.
“i want to walk with you.”
hmm, did he really say that? the words were just playing in his mind— when did they leave his lips as they have a will of their own?
“oh,” you say softly, “okay. let's do that.”
you smile, and suna takes a mental picture of this moment. it almost traps him in a trance. it's only when you step out of the gates, the droplets harshly falling on your clothes that he feels his feet move without his consent, arm automatically reaching out to shelter you from the rain again.
“let's walk together.” you tug him forward by the sleeve of his blazer.
“i was waiting for you.”
he's not sure what exactly is happening— his mind and body aren't in sync with each other, he's doing things without thinking about it. his thoughts are no less than his words, as if the moment they come to mind, they're pulled out by this unexplained force.
“were you?” thankfully you're still smiling at him, and he feels relief wash over him, “that's good.”
“it is?”
“i like your umbrella more than mine.” you answer, and something tells him you're not really talking about umbrellas.
and when he's walking with you, side by side. scooting closer because you noticed his shoulders weren't protected from the rain, he thinks then, that it wasn't intentional, it's just you— the subtle brush of your knuckles against his, the stretch of your lips to a smile he can only call mesmerizing, the lilt in your voice when you say his name. you who frees the words from his throat as if they've been caged. he's not surprised anymore when they leave his lips before he can stop himself— i like you.
suna likes you. he's never been more sure of it. when you only take his hand in yours in response, your smiling lighting up in sheer awe, he has a feeling you also like him a little more than you're letting on.

Darlin' pt 2
Tumblr media
pt 1 / pt3
Cooper Howard/The Ghoul x f!reader (right now there is nothing romantic, maybe in the future I am undecided.)
Description: Where the reader arguably makes the stupidest decision of her life, following a ghoul who obviously doesn't want her there.
TW: Talk of physical abuse and bad parenting
I stayed there on my knees in the mud for some time. Stunned at the events that just transpired. I had nowhere to go, my wrists were still bound, and I had no weapon. I was truly fucked. I slowly rose to my feet as I looked around. The ghoul took one of the men's guns and Slim's was far too heavy for me to carry. I stumbled my way to the grave to look down inside. Honcho wasn't moving, and if I crawled down in there to get his gun there was no way I was getting out again. I sighed. I thought back to the ghoul. He was my only chance, but he didn't want my help.
I sighed again as I looked down at the chicken before untying her and setting her free. "At least one of us can be free," I said smiling to her before she ran off.
I stood there in the dark weighing my options when my eyes fell to the tracks in the mud. Maybe if I stick close to him, I'll be okay? At least until we reach a town. I would stay out of his way. Ideally, he wouldn't even know I was there.
"You are insane," I said to myself before I started following the tracks in front of me, grabbing Slim's bag on my way past him.
After about a day I was exhausted. I had no idea if I was going in the right direction anymore, I was no tracker and I lost his prints a long time ago. I stopped and bent over, pressing my palms to my knees while trying to catch my breath when I heard a gun cock behind me.
"Now why would you be following me?" The ghoul said behind me. "You must be a special kind of stupid."
I couldn't help the exhausted laugh that bubbled in my throat as I slowly stood up. "I must be. If you killed me right now, it wouldn't make a difference. I'll die on my own anyway." I said still facing away from him, feeling defeated.
There was a long moment of silence before I finally looked behind me. There was no hint of emotion on the ghoul's face.
"Let me follow you until we reach a settlement. I'll stay out of your way. I won't ask you for anything. Please." I begged.
At this, he looked down at my still bound wrists and then back up at my sad face. He sighed as he holstered his gun. "Come here then girl," he said, waving me over.
I tripped over my feet hurrying over to the man, raising my wrists as he took out his knife and cut me free. "Thank you, sir."
At this, it was his turn to laugh. "Sir? Well I'll be damned you are probably the only person left on this godforsaken planet with some manners."
I smiled up at him, I thought maybe he wasn't so scary after all.
"You will be completely silent. No complaining. If you annoy me, I will turn that pretty ass into jerky. Got it?" He said with a serious look on his face.
"Right. I can do that." I whispered looking down at my feet, feeling stupid.
We walked until it was far too dark to continue. I silently collected firewood as he put his bag down on the ground. As I made my way to our makeshift camp I stood in front of him with my arms full of sticks.
"What?" He barked out, obviously annoyed.
"Nothin'" I responded quickly before shuffling away from him embarrassed.
I tried my best to arrange the wood before pulling the flint out of the bag I took off of Slim. A small fire started and I smiled. I was cold from all the mud plastered to the front of me and was relieved to feel the warmth of the fire. I looked over at the ghoul to see him leaning up against a tree with his hat covering his face. I hummed happily as I thought about the arrangement we came up with, although I couldn't help but want to talk to him, the walk has been incredibly boring.
After a while of warming up by the fire, I got comfortable and drifted off to sleep.
-
I woke with a start. I looked around confused before I realized there was a boot in my side. I looked up at the ghoul hovering above me. "Get up darlin'." He said before walking away. "Time to move."
I quickly jumped up and grabbed my bag before running after him. This was the routine for days. I had honestly lost track of how long I had been following the ghoul. The silent marches from sun up to sun down were starting to get to me. I felt like I was going crazy.
"If my memory serves me well. I can be rid of you by tomorrow morning." He said with a sour tone.
"Okay," I responded quickly. I wanted to say as little as possible so he doesn't make true to his threat.
He looked back at me for a second as he continued to walk. "How did you get yourself into this mess anyway?"
I hesitated to answer, remembering he told me to stay silent. I looked up at him to see him scoff and turn away again.
"I ran away from home. Was on my own for a while before I ran into those idiots. They found me while I was sleeping, I had no chance to escape until you killed them."
"Ran away from home?" He repeated back at me. "That was stupid."
"Well, I'd rather be eaten by a ghoul than continue to be beaten by my father," I responded curtly.
He laughed at this. "Getting feisty aren't we darlin'?"
"Sorry," I responded. "I shouldn't have said that."
"No, you shouldn't have." He said with a tone that I couldn't quite figure out.
We walked in silence for what felt like forever, I tried to keep track of time by looking up at the sun but it was a cloudy, cold day. I couldn't help but start to shiver. My feet started to ache terribly, I wanted to ask for a break but I bit my tongue. No complaining had been one of his rules. I didn't want to push my luck with him.
"Stop." He said abruptly, pulling me from my thoughts.
"Wha-" I asked confused.
"Quiet." He interrupted as his hand slowly wrapped around his gun and turned towards me.
Before I had a chance to react the barrel of his gun was next to my face and he shot a round off.
I cried out as my ears rang painfully and I fell to the ground in shock. He said something to me, but I couldn't hear a thing. I held my head as I watched him walk behind me towards a man, dead on the ground. He rummaged through the dead man's pockets, pulling out a couple of caps before walking back towards me.
"A fiend." I thought to myself.
Instead of saying anything he offered me his gloved hand. I hesitantly took it and let him pull me back to my feet. He mumbled something but I couldn't hear it. Not long after this, we made camp again.
-
The next day, I slowed down a lot, but we were very close to town. I was beyond exhausted and barely had any will to keep going. The distance was growing between us before he finally stopped and whipped around, visibly annoyed.
"Walk faster. Remember what I said about annoying me darlin'." He barked at me.
I stared at him quietly before saying. "Why not just leave me behind, then?"
"Don't tempt me." He grumbled as he roughly grabbed my arm and started dragging me along.
A few minutes later we reached a small settlement. We got a couple of strange looks as he continued to drag me by my arm before finally letting go as soon as he set eyes on a "doctors" office. I just stood there. Unsure what to do now. I was in town, albeit a small one. There were only three buildings and a couple of food stalls. I could do whatever I wanted. I couldn't follow him anymore, that was for certain. I heard a commotion from inside the office, but it wasn't my problem anymore. I slowly wandered away eyeing up the food stands. Dog meat wasn't appetizing, but I hadn't had real food in days. I rummaged around Slim's pack before I found enough caps to buy myself a meal.
I hummed happily as I finished my food, I hadn't realized how hungry I was.
"Well, aren't you a pretty thing?" A man slurred behind me. "How much for your time?"
"I am not a prostitute." I scoffed as I turned around to face him.
"Free then?" He smiled menacingly as he grabbed ahold of me. His grip was so tight that I could feel my arm bruising.
Without thinking I drove the empty skewer in my hand into the man's eye and ran. I heard yelling behind me, but I kept running mindlessly. Before I realized what I was doing, I ran right into the arms of the ghoul as he was exiting the doctor's office.
"What in the hell?" He exclaimed, shocked by my actions before he looked up to see the man following me with blood running down his face.
"That bitch belongs to you? She must be some kind of freak to be with a ghoul." He growled angrily.
I buried my face into the ghoul's chest, afraid to look at his face. I desperately hoped he would take mercy on me once again.
"Well, darlin' you do have some bite to ya." The ghoul laughed while eyeing up the man standing in front of him.
"Give me the girl and get gone." The man spit out.
"Well, that just won't do." The ghoul responded while smirking, obviously amused. "Get behind me darlin'," he whispered quietly as he stared down the thug.
I quickly did as I was told before I heard some more shots ring off, before I knew it, the whole town turned into a shoot-off. I dropped to the ground and crawled into the doctor's office hiding behind the counter next to a very dead doctor.
"What the hell?" I mumbled to myself looking over at him, wondering what had transpired between him and the ghoul.
I stayed there until I heard a familiar voice yell out. "Anyone else wanna try me? That was fun, but I am itching for a REAL challenge." Only to get silence in return.
I peeked my head around the counter before finally getting up to my feet and shuffling to the doorway. Before I could stick my head out, the ghoul appeared in front of me.
"Thank you," I said smiling shyly up at him.
He stared down at me for a moment before saying, "Come on then. I need to get going if I am going to catch that bounty and Filly ain't far."
"I am coming with you?" I questioned, trying to hide the relief on my face.
"Well, you obviously can't be trusted on your own. Can ya darlin'?" He responded slyly.
"Oh thank you so much. You won't regret this!" I said to him as I grabbed ahold of his sleeve.
He stared down at my fist before looking back up into my eyes. I could see the hesitation on his face. Little did I know, this was the most human contact he had had in a long time, and it stirred something deep within him.
An odd friendship had formed between us, and neither of us knew how to feel about it.
